UA--Actually Isa didn't know. She's spent her time whining that nobody loves her--so she's had the feeling that there is something different about her in relation to the other two girls and her mother.

I am glad that maybe Santos has now come to his senses. I couldn't take all his crying in the tequila. Same with Maria and all the crying. Good for her she stood up to Vampira, but I have a feeling Elvirus is not done yet. She is a bit like Oscar as far as Santos is concerned. I think she will be chasing Santos as Oscar continues to chase Maria.

I feel so bad for Isa but I too thought when she had her accident with the razor scooter they told her she was adopted? Maybe missing Santos, and doing the math, it finally sunk in. Maybe she wasn't listening or on pain meds when she was told the first time.

I like that Lourdes took a stand with Concho too, but she doesn't listen either. I wonder how many times Amalia has told her that nothing went on with Concho?
 

As always, great stuff, UA! I've gotta say, tho that my first reaction on seeing that photo was: "What! Where's the fan?!" I'm SURE the men out there in Viewerville were definitely NOT asking that question.

My second thought was: "Yikes! A TN actress who has real boobs". They look real to me, but it's approaching the midnight hour and I could be wrong.

Right now, the only storyline that has me interested is: "So, who really is Isa's Papa?"

Hmmmm. There's the golden key to the whole Santos-Maria impasse. She's been an accessory after the fact for at least 7 or 8 years now. She's at least as deceitful to Isa as Santos was to her (I hope Santos uses it against Maria.)
 

Madelaine--Amalia and Maria told Paloma in the hospital that Isa was a foundling and they know nothing about her beyond her arrival on their doorstep. Paloma overheard one of them say something in regard to her not being of their sangre.
 

I really can't stand Amelia prattling on about JAntos not telling the truth all the while hiding the whopper about Isa. It should be mighty interesting when she is found. I hope she tells them she doesn't want to live with them that they LIED to her and how unfair they have been to her Papito. Somebody needs to knock Coloso, Maria and Amelia's heads together.

Very scary to think about a little girl wandering around the street in a rough part of town late at night. I ket thinking some drunk or worse would come upon her so in a way I'm glad she fell into that hole, at least she is hidden. Interesting that no one fell the call of the blood. LOL

I simply cannot believe how stupid these people are. A child is missing so they all pile in the clown mobile and driving around with weeping woman. For the love of God they should all have gone in different directions not huddled together. I've now put Susanito on my list. A child is missing and he is too busy going on about how JAntos isn't welcome.

Speaking of stupid what was JAntos thinking standing out in the middle of a lightening storm, in a suit with a lot of metal on it. Talk about asking to be stuck by lightening. SMH

I must say that the actress playing Mirna must be a good sport. That camera angle of her behind made her look like she was giving Kim Kardashian a run for her money.

Why would he stop, when Amalia is telling him things like "I wish Maria was in love with you?" He's getting signals from Maria's mother to keep after Maria, why would he stop?

Whew, I'm so glad that JAntos was snatched from the jaws of douchatude. I feared he'd do some nonsense like waving a supposed "relationship" with Elvira in front of Maria (the MOTHER OF HIS CHILD) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Thankfully he didn't do that, though the avances sure made it look like he might. Of course he was rude to Elvira, but who feels sorry for her? LOL. The girl needs to take a hint.

I cheered, OUT LOUD, when Fernando said that Maria shouldn't cry if something happens to JAntos. You could see that was like cold water in her face. She's sooooo full of self-righteousness, nursing her "wounds" at being "lied to" by JAntos, that she hasn't thought things through at all. All her bitching at him will seem so petty and trivial (and they ARE, they ARE!) if, heaven forbid, the Godfather got to him, or he had an accident because he was so baked that he couldn't see straight.

I really am getting to love Fernando.

Also I thought it was funny how Concho had this impactado look on his face when Lourdes said, "I'm going to play around too." Oh yeah, he thinks this whole philandering thing is only supposed to be one-sided. What a douche.

And Coloso is getting on my last nerve. Come on, dude, Isa is missing, stop with the petty nonsense about JAntos being a criminal, let the guy search for the girl and stop wasting everyone's time.

Some of you have mentioned before that you think there is probably some blood connection between JAntos and Isa; I am becoming more and more convinced of this. Perhaps she'll be like Margarito in LQNPA (spoilers for that show!), the result of Rogelio being picked up by Margarito's mom at the Cattleman's Fair. (I still think that's funny. LOL.) I don't know, it would be kind of weird if Isa were a kid of JAntos, so maybe a more distant relative? We shall see, we shall see.
 

Actually, I think she will turn out to be his child. Otherwise, why would he have said to Maria -- in this ver episode -- that he is "a millionaire who has had many, many women"?

This opens up the question of which of those women was her mother. It's beginning to sound like that woman's parents may have taken the baby and abandoned it as punishment for the sin. In which case if they are still alive they should pay by man's law. It has to be a crime to abandon an infant that way.

As for Oscar, I'm surprised that none of the Saucy Wenches has it bad for him. He's handsome, talented, and makes the most money of any of the musicians in the bar. Unless they are practical enough to see that it's useless as long as he still has it bad for Maria.

The other day I wondered why Amalia adopted Isabel when she did considering their circumstances. I had a lightbulb moment about that this morning: She needed a helpless baby to need her. Some women get like that when their youngest child is out of diapers or starts school. They feel useless when that youngest child starts becoming independent. My college buddy's ex was like this when their youngest (of 6!) was out of diapers. She said to me "I'd really like to have more kids."
 

Thanks for the recap UA. For some inexplicable reason I tuned in last night and quel sorpresa, Isa was in trouble again (the last episode I remember seeing she was hit by a car.) Well tonight she was struggling with math and then running away.

As usual, your details and translations were an immense help, but I have a question. Is Isa really JAntos' daughter?! QTH?

Since we haven'y "met" any of his past amours, we don't yet know who Isabel's birth mother is.

Santos was born in Monterrey and probably spent childhood vacations there, so he has been to Mexico but Isabel could just as easily have been conceived in the US. Her mother is likely to be educated but have parents with outdated morals and a heavy-duty ultimatum. They could be 1st-generation middle class.

Now that this door has been opened, they have to let us see the crime scene.
 

Sara C, when Isabel was in the hospital after her accident she said what she most wanted was a father. All was copacetic at the time between Maria and Jorge Alfredo and he told Isabel he would be her father.

The fact that he was the only blood match didn't happen for no reason. In novelas it never does. That's why I think he really is her father.

Which would work well for Isabel later, as that would make her a big sister to Maria's baby.
 

Ok. That makes sense why his "she's my daughter" comment didn't strike anyone as odd. I'm not watching this but I thought last night's idiocy was oddly entertaining. Maybe I'll pay closer attention.

Thanks also for why Oscar keeps chasing Maria, you are right Anon 207 Amalia keeps saying the same thing to him over and over. Even with Isa missing she is still saying the same thing.

I may be in the mInority but I don't think JAntos is Isa's blood father. Until he made the comment that he had known many women and that could have been a lie he never came off as the kind who would abandon a child. The mere thought that he could have fathered a child, taken away by grandparents or dumped by the mother on the very doorstep where he would find his OTL boggles my mind. Then again this is Novelaland. Somehow I would be disappointed if it turned out to be true.

Maybe Amelia should take up with Coloso since she seems to think he is so perfect. I could have slapped her last night with her I wish Maria loved you. I find myself screaming at the TV STFU every time she opens her mouth. And from those previews for tonight I'll probably be hoarse when it is over.

Maria is a real PITA pushing JAntos away and then when she confronts Elvirus explaining stay away from what is mine. She is a complete dog in the manger as my mother would say. I do/don't want him, am putting him through hell bur nobody can come near him.

Hats off to Fernando for telling both Maris and Santos to stop with the self pity and do something. Especially liked his sarcastic shot at Maria.

I'm horrified thinking that Lourdes is going to try and take up with the hapless Sonador but then I just had the thought maybe she will go after the Alejandro Ruiz character. They are certainly wasting him in this mess.

Don't understand how the dumb Mendoza women didn't think that Isa, smart as she is, wouldn't find out about her 'adoption' before they told her. She's nosy, always asking questions, always in other people's business, etc. She's also the smartest one in the bunch. Maybe they thought her math skills wouldn't kick in until she turns 18?

Isa ran away and Amalia is blaming herself. Well, she should. It's totally her fault, not only for not telling her the truth, but also for making her feel "unloved" compared to Maria and Paloma. Yes, she's a little girl who's constantly saying "nobody loves me" but just the fact that she's not a blood relative should have alerted them that she feels something. But then, that would require them to be intelligent and astute so, I take that back. If Isa had yelled in their faces, "tell me why nobody loves me and treats me differently or I'll run away" they would've just smiled, patted her head and said, "Oh, Isa, go play with Lupita."
 

Decie--You and I are in the minority. I surmised that if there is a blood connection, it would be to Justo or Altagracia. It still could be. OR it could be a Mejia Red Herring.

UA is right, Sara C. It is not all that unusual for someone to step in and act as a "father" for someone she never had. In my day you called them "uncle." Then there is Big Brother and Big Sister relationships which were never formalized but provided very strong bonding opportunities.

Isa was fortunate to have JA want to do this. It's curious that as much as Coloso wanted Maria and has enthralled Amalia, he never had the same draw towards Isa and Paloma that JA did.

Decie--Like your idea of Amalia taking up with Coloso. He could still have Elvira on the side and Amalia could cook and clean his charro suit.



 

Amelia dotes on Maria and was practically crawling in bed with her to cuddle her and sooth her crying over big bad liar, fugitive (that's going to be her new mantra) JAntos. She kept going on about how it hurt her heart to see Maria like this, yet when Isa was devastated by the "revelation" about JAntos and they were all trashing him, the little girl was crying and ran off to her bed. Amelia later told everyone the girl had cried herself to sleep.

Now let me get this straight your ADULT daughter is having self inflicted fits over her lover and you're all over her trying to calm her down. Your little girl is devastated over incorrect assumptions and you casually let her cry herself to sleep. Disgusting and I hope that Isa lashes out at them and refuses to live with them. Amelia and Maria need a real does of reality and lessons on what truly constitutes motherly love. Neither of them have it.

Just as most of you I'm really pithed by Amalia's behavior.
She never treated Isa equal either Maria or Paloma, and now playing the drama queen over her disappearance!

Intead of crying over and promising to die over her disappearance get on looking for her then tell her how much you love her and show her as well.

I liked Maria standing up to Elvira at the beginning, she should keep that attitude and help Jantos clear his nem instead of turning her back in the name of her "BIG" love.

I so agree with what you said about Maria standing by her man and helping him to prove his innocence. She has stood up for the injustice of being evicted by that slime bucket Braulio, and she seems interested in justice, so why not try and help her man, instead of whining about how much he lied to her? Now if she would be quiet long enough he can explain the rest of why he is wanted. JAntos really should tell her. I realize he feels this will put her in danger, but the more people know, and the more people help, they may get to the truth faster.
 

Poor Santos can't get a break. Every time he has tried to tell Maria the truth she has shut him down and now blames him. Last night he was trying to tell her yet again when Drama Mama bursts in, ignores him rudely and blurts out Isa has disappeared. Obviously Isa takes precedence over clearing up a misunderstanding but with Coloso and Amelia hot on getting rid of him Santos will never get a minute to tell Maria the whole story.

The only way the truth will ever get through to this crowd is if Justo rides into town looking for his son and tells them everything cause at this point I don't think that most of the barrio crowd is prepared to believe anything that comes out of JAntos' mouth each for thir own selfish reasons..
 

Santos, tell everybody the truth and put them all in danger, who cares? Then call OJ and tell him these people (be sure to name names - Amalia, Maria, Coloso, Aventurero, Ana, Mancia, Susanito, Sonador, Elvira, Ruben, Fabian - all those that are against you) have been helping him to hide and they are ready to give up their lives for him (don't mention Fernando, Rodrigo, Irasema, Gloria, Paloma, Isabel). They asked for it, they got it.

UA, that ‘I’m a millionaire and I’ve known many, many women’ comment leapt out at me last night, too, but I don’t think JA is Isa’s dad. I was glad that JA threw that in Maria’s face, that he is actually a very desirable man, whom she is kicking around like a piece of trash. He may be some sort of relative of Isa’s, but not her dad. To me, that wouldn’t fit with what we’ve been shown about him and his character. If that were the case, I think they would have played up a playboy’s past for him, and they have NOT done that. In fact, before that comment last night, they have never referred to him being with any other women, though it was implied that he had dated. Nor do I think she would be Justo’s child; that would be completely out of character. It’s odd that the matching blood type and transfusion has never been mentioned again, although maybe even the shameless creators of this mess wanted to forget that absurd operating room weepin’ and bleedin’ and prayin’ and dyin’ and whoops! not dyin’ scene.

I keep thinking that there is going to be some connection between Coloso and JA because they have made it clear that they are both from Monterrey. Why point that out to us so clearly if it doesn’t mean anything? If Isa were Coloso’s child, it would be a lot less improbable that someone would dump her on Amalia’s doorstep, as well as a lot more in character for Coloso to have unattended spawn left hither and yon. He may not even know that he is her father. Then, if Coloso and JA turn out to be cousins or something, then JA would be related to her and that explains the matching blood types. I have also always felt that, in the end, JA and Coloso will mend fences and end up friends.

OTOH, it could be a big fat “Mejia Red Herring”. This is my first Mejia experience, so what do I know.

I wish these people had more of a sense of ‘innocent until proven guilty’. Obviously, I am biased in that it is a strong principle in our culture and would not be as strong in a culture like Mexico with a legal system that requires the accused to prove their innocence. But still. I am hoping that when Roddy gets accused of accosting Vanessa, they will all get schooled in how it feels to be falsely accused of something. Likewise, I think they are all about to get schooled in how lying to protect Isa from the truth wasn’t a good idea. I think these two subplots will both help JAntos make his point that what he did wasn’t so bad and that he is an innocent victim.

I agree that when Justo arrives on the scene, he will be a huge help to JAntos. Worthless Whiny Wendy? Not so much.
 

I may be the only one who isn’t annoyed with Amalia beyond her hairdo, makeup and plasticized face. Ok, and her fondness for Oscar. I don’t get that at all. And the general stupidity that everyone in this TN seems to suffer from. But otherwise, she seems to me like a loving and well-intentioned mom to all of her daughters. She’s not perfect and she is clearly torn between not trusting JA (for good reason) and wanting to respect Maria’s choices. She has vacillated in a classic case of approach avoidance. But it’s pretty difficult to stand back and let your daughter make a huge mistake in the most important decision in her life. In fact, if you look at things from Amalia’s point of view, I think it would be far worse and very irresponsible if she simply sat on her hands and said nothing as Maria ruined her life. That’s from her point of view, not ours. She would like Maria to marry and be happy, and she has said so repeatedly. She just wants it to be to a normal, honest, trustworthy guy without all the baggage that JA has. I can’t blame her for that at all. If I had a daughter, I also would want her to marry someone normal. Normal is highly desirable in a son-in-law. :)

I also don’t see her as not loving all of her daughters. She and Maria have a closer relationship because Maria has had to shoulder a lot of the adult responsibilities in the family. If one daughter seems to get the short shift, to me it seems like Paloma gets overlooked, like the typical middle child. Maria has problems and gets attention, Isa cries nobody loves me and gets attention, but Paloma seems more independent and doesn’t go crying to mommy. But to me it seems very clear that she is loving and supportive to all three.
 

Amalia doesn't yet know the rest of the information about Santos and she's not going to like it whether he is innocent or not. Maria forgiving him -- which she has to do eventually -- won't even matter. She will be completely intimidated by Justo's position.

Maria won't, but it remains to be seen whether Amalia's attitude will still prevail.
 

Don't forget, everybody. They all saw the news about the fugitive delinquente Santos on the tv and of course, Paloma is right, they HAVE to believe it if it was on tv. What can Santos do against the power of the media that has condemned him.

I hate the thought of his turning himself in. I hope Justo and El Undocumentado find *something* before tonight or tomorrow (or whenever Isa is found).

Fernando & Isa are the most intelligent characters on the show. Isa does childish things, but then again, Isa is 8.

I don't care what happens to any of the other characters, I'm on Team Fernando.

Last night confirmed that no matter what Santos does for the Mendozas, Amalia will never care for him because he is NOT Oscar. Santos has paid their medical bills, saved them from getting evicted & paid off their debt to Ruben, but it's still not good enough because he's not Oscar.

Coloso refused to acknowledge his child but Santos wants to acknowledge a child that's not his*, but that's still not good enough because Santos is not Oscar.

Santos donated blood to save Isa's life but it's still not good enough because Santos is not Oscar.

According to Amalia, Santos did all of this just to trick Maria into bed.

Remember, Amalia was pissed off at Santos for leaving to see his dying mother.

*I think last night was the first we've actually heard that Santos had many women. It's been implied that he was a playboy but never been outrightly said by him. So Isa very well could be his child. Santos would NEVER abandon his child so it may be a situation of he slept with Homegirl, she got pregnant & never told him (or anyone else), had the baby & dropped her off on Amalia's doorstep.

Of course if this IS the case, this would be just one more thing for Amalia to hate Santos over.

 

Carolina, I also don't see Amalia ignoring Isabel. However, we might observe that she treats each of them differently based on the circumstances around each of their births. That is actually normal in the statistical sense of the word.

Maria is the oldest, hence the reliable and responsible one. She was privy to the secret about Isabel from day one and not just because she was old enough to realize that Isabel is not Amalia's natural child. How this got past Paloma is a mystery to me, but Paloma would not have been mature enough to know to keep her mouth shut about this then.

Of course, current conventional wisdom says that adopted children should be aware they are adopted as soon as they understand what that means. I'm not sure when that became the norm nor am I sure what is best, as I have no personal experience with this. Isabel is an intelligent child and should know now; the big question is when should she have been told? When should Paloma have been told?

As to Santos' romantic history, I am guessing that he has a lot of notches on his bedpost but probably never really did any woman wrong. If Isabel turns out to be his child it would be the result of a birth control fail and subsequent abandonment dictated by the maternal grandparents. Maybe they sent their daughter away, forced her into a convent, or she died sometime since. Santos is not an irresponsible man and would certainly have claimed her had he known.

The idea that Oscar could be her father sounds more logical, but his blood didn't match. That would have required a maternal blood match and we don't know Oscar's history either. He could be a player because of his looks and talent, but his manners need improvement for that to go from "could be" to "is." We've only seen him fooling around with Elvira; he doesn't even flirt with female patrons of the bar (which probably would have pleased Concho) because he is hung up on Maria.

Who helped him get the audition at JNTR that got him hired.

Amalia likes Oscar because he paid her medical bills back when. Which he did to impress Maria. Who knows how long it took her to pay him back every peso.

It is also possible for Isabel to be Fernando's child, based on their interaction in the hospital. I speculated on that in the discussion that followed that episode.

We have three suspects so far: Santos, Oscar, and Fernando. Isabel has both a good IQ and the same blood type as Santos, Fernando is also intelligent. Isabel has nothing in common with Oscar either way. He is less intelligent than either of the others. In any event, the same pre-condition would apply to any of them: Ignorance of the conception.
 

I can't help but be amused about Santos' friend from the Death Train, Sal, worrying about not having enough education to help Santos. Justo the ex diplomat to be harboring an illegal and now he is not on Mexican territory. Justo has to go to Mexcio to turn in his resignation so with any luck in the next couple of weeks we'll see him on-site woking to save Santos. Maybe with the Isa development Santos will finally save himself from himself as Fernando told him to do.

Right on about Drama Mama and her feeling vis a vis Santos and Coloso. Yes many years ago Coloso helped with medical bills and she has been on Team C ever since. Nothing and I mean nothing Santos does will ever be good enough for her. I still can't get over how little she appreciated or for that matter even thanked him for bailing them out so many times. Everything she said was within the bounds of mere politeness and his actions just added to the negative things she has assembled in her mind. He could give Maria a life free from want, education for Paloma and Isa that would qualify them for the best schools in the world, take them all out of the barrio into a nice not palatial house because that isn't his style, pay for top medical care for her, give her flock of grandchildren and it still would never please her becaue as you said he is Coloso.

I don't remember who first made this observation, but Santos is the man who could take Maria away from Amalia. She is a Smother.

Oscar would not. They would live in a slightly better area if Maria married him, but they would not have any substantial change in their lives. That's what Amalia is not prepared for.

I have a friend who behaves as though money were the root of all evil. I have had to tell her repeatedly that there is no virtue in poverty. Amalia never learned that one either.

Apodaca is part of the greater Monterrey area and we know Roddy and Gloria came from Monterrey as well. As for chopped liver that is exactly what Santos is to Drama Mama. She refuses to acknowledge how much he has done for her family. Actually Maria isn't overly grateful either. We've said Coloso's manner leave something to be desired but so do Maria and Amelia's. Every Mexican i've ever known has been a stickler for manners, wonder how it escaped Amelia. Would like to know her back story.

Somebody mentioned Roddy and the accusation against him being the trigger for Amelia and Maria as well as the rest of the barrio doubtesr to learn what it means to be falsely accused of something. I've thought that for sometime myself, otherwise none of them will ever learn not to make snap judgements
 

MAYBE they'll believe Rodrigo. They're more liable to condemn him immediately, knowing them. Paloma will scream and cry, "why? why? how could you do this to me?" and "don't want to see you for the rest of my life!" Amalia will pat her head and tell her, "Ay, Palomita, pobrecita, pero you have to understand that love hurts. You had to learn it sometime." Maria will say, "I didn't think Rod was that type of boy, but being Coloso's son, maybe he didn't want to take 'no' for an answer" (never mind that Rod can't stand Vanessa) and Coloso will preen and strut and say, "that's my boy! take what you want, I always say!" Once again, only Jorge Alfredo will understand and console him and stand up for him.
 

That does sound likely.

Oscar will not believe the accusation even though he doesn't know Roddy as well as Paloma does. Here's hoping Gloria will be back to defend him when that anvil finally falls.

I would also not put it past Elvirus to do something similar to Santos. Vanessa has mirrored her behavior so far and it's probably time (in the writers' heads) to have Elvirus return the compliment.
 

I actually think the barrio club will believe Roddy. He may be an outsider but he is King Coloso's son. They should look at it from the perspective of someone making false statements and what happens as a result. Paloma will definitely throw a hissy fit, she learned that from Maria and has already demonstrated she will do it which is what led to the situation of Vain making the accusation. Just as Maria can't/won't see that her own actions in refusing to listen are what is causing her misery Paloma will follow suit.

What I think is interesting about Rodrigo's situation is that it is likely to split the group. And some who will automatically support him, like maybe Maria, Coloso, or Amalia, will then have to face their inconsistency that they didn't support JA when he was falsely accused.

UA, we never learned anything about Coloso’s blood type or whether it matched Isa’s as well, and he isn’t the sort to know what his blood type is. If he didn’t know what DNA was, he may even be a little shaky on what exactly blood type is. ;) Who knows, maybe Coloso and JA will find out that they are related when one of them needs blood and the other has the matching type.

I just am not seeing JA being the dad. That he would date someone from DF, father an unknown child, and have the kid end up Maria’s adopted sister all seems too improbable even for this show. And he didn’t exactly hang out with girls from DF or any Mexicans other than his family, for that matter, that we know of. I could see Fernando as Isa’s dad before I could see JA. Just my two cents.

As for Isa not knowing about being adopted, that is the old school approach to it. When I was growing up, this was much more common than now. So saying it is the norm is true for our culture at this time, but it certainly isn't universal. I going to guess that it is still much more common in Mexico to not tell kids.

I am not going to try to defend Amalia to this crowd :), but I would like to clarify the facts. It was a while ago, but Amalia did thank him repeatedly for paying the rent and hospital bills and other things he has done for the family. They had a series of discussions about paying him back that always included thanks. She also didn’t have any problem with JA leaving. Everyone has known this from day one, and her reaction was more a nonchalant shrug and concern for how badly Maria would take it. She didn’t say anything about his mom dying, so we have no reason to think that she was pissed off about that. Her issue was that she didn’t believe him when he said he would come back. She had caught him lying red-handed and since she knows something of how the world and the human heart operate, she thought he might not ever reappear, even if he had good intentions. That’s a very reasonable position to take, under the circumstances. And, of course, she still could be right about this as JA could easily be tried, found guilty, and sentenced to an even longer term than Michael’s 8 years. In fact, I expect all that to happen. I don’t find that all that bizarre that a mom wouldn’t want her daughter to marry a man who is or will be in prison for years and years. I can’t even begin to imagine how my mother would have reacted if I had wanted to marry a man who had lied to her face and was a potential convict, but I am sure she wouldn’t have taken it anywhere near as well as Amalia. And my father? OMG.

I think she likes Oscar because he is a known entity and she has only seen his good side. He is an old family friend and is charming and especially around her, it seems. Similarly, she has only seen JA’s bad side, that he is a liar and mixed up with hoodlums and will leave and may never come back. Viewerville knows that Coloso is a fornicating, immature bully and that JA is really a santo (who goes on the occasional binge), but she doesn’t. If you go by what she knows, and try to see things from her viewpoint, her behavior makes a lot more sense than that she has irrational love for one and irrational hatred for the other.

I’m going to add Justo to the list of intelligent characters on this show. I love Fernando and Isa, but Justo is not only extremely intelligent, he has clout. If there is anyone who can save JA’s bacon, it’s his dad.

 

I guess I should have said that Amalia has seen both good and bad of JA, and I think her feelings towards him are mixed. She said to his face that she wants to like him, but she just can't trust him. And I can understand that. If I have a creepy feeling about someone, it doesn't matter what how nice they are to me, I can't get over it. Some people operate a lot more on intuition than others.
 

I have never ever watched an episode of this show, but it airs right after Amores Verdaderos. For some reason every time I see mariachis, I turn the channnel! it's the strangest impulsive reaction ever! its like ive got ocd or something. anyways, at those times when I cant get to my remote quick enough, the lead male character seems to be in a fight in every episode. why is that?

Carolina--I've just been reviewing old episodes to delete. I think you have a valid point about Amalia. Whatever she may think about not wanting to lose her daughter to someone she just can't quite trust, every time Maria puts her foot down and insists that this is the love of her life, she agrees to be supportive and let her follow her heart--but always with the caution that there's something about him not to trust and she hopes she won't get hurt (this was the night Jorge Alfredo gave her the ring and they "married" each other in front of the Virgin).

Tomorrow's comments should be great.

I just wanted to add that I do not think that Isa is any way connected to JAntos, despite the matching blood type.

I do not see the connection, even if JAntos spent time in Monterrey and got some girl pregnant, - who out of some unknown reason didn't tell him - then the girl comes to DF, has the baby and abandons her on !AMALIA's! (how is she coming to the picture??) doorstep ??!!
This just too much for me even from Meija.

I was out last night at a free concert so I am watching last night's episode now.

If Oscar and Santos had the same blood type, Oscar would also have been a match for Isabel. All the mariachis got themselves tested. This does not exclude the possibility of Oscar and Santos being related; it would just need a different piece of evidence.

You're right, as flawed as Amalia is, she definitely does love her kids. She's just incredibly annoying! And in the end she will come around.

I see her as indecisive and wishy-washy. And I don't think she sees the forest for the trees. JAntos may have baggage, but there's no way he's a "bad" guy, a "user," not after all he's done for the family. They should be willing to hear him out.

I haven't seen tonight's episode yet, will fire up the DVR now.
 

I will also admit here that novelas call up my mother and suegra issues.

My own mother stopped loving me when I was about 5 and stopped being a cute little doll she could dress up in frills. I had developed the ability to say "no" and was becoming more independent. She couldn't handle that. There's a lot more, but not for now.

UA, I remember that you’ve said you had a doozy of a mother, too. I just can’t be critical of these moms who love their kids. Really. We are all human and make mistakes, but at minimum, that is all a mom needs to do. As long as she loves her kids, almost everything else is forgivable.

Sorry, but I sure don’t remember all the mariachis getting themselves blood tested when Isa was in the hospital. In fact, I remember comments here about how it looked like they didn’t even bother to test JA, but just took his word for it that he had the same blood type and wheeled him on into the OR. It’ll be interesting to see what (if anything) that blood business was all about. Since they have never mentioned it again, even though it would seem like something Isa or JA would bring up about how they are bonded, maybe it is nothing but a red herring. It heightened the drama of the hospital scene and that is all.

Nevertheless, I don’t think JA is Isa’s dad based on his characterization and the utter improbability of it, which goes far beyond the powers of the most magical beanie to accept. As Irisz said, it’s too much, even from Meija. I was speculating that the blood type could tie together Coloso with JA and Isa, but maybe that is not going to/doesn't need to happen.


 

Carolina--You are so right about us all seeing the same thing on the screen and taking away different interpretations, depending on our life experiences.

I was very fortunate, to have had parents who wanted ME and only one of me, kept their morals and interests in mind raising me, and gave me a great amount of freedom (and yes, the freedom to choose a nutcase for a husband without turning their backs on me).

My mother was not much into PDA or even PrivateDA, but my father was. They gave me the best childhood anyone could have hoped for, free of arguments and rancor between them or with me. But that didn't keep me from growing into my teenage years feeling inadequate, lacking assertiveness--perfect doormat material. Thank goodness I finally licked that.

I also see Amalia as treating Maria more as a co-equal. How many times have I taken a girlfriend's (or friend who was male) side when she/he was angry at another friend, or having girl/boyfriend trouble and was supportive of her position, then when all was patched up, being supportive as well for the re-arrangement. Some would call it wishy-washy, saying only what the other wants to hear, I say it's helping the friend (could be brother, sister, etc.) find their bearings by being a good listener and supportive. Oh my, I've gone on long enough.

Can't wit because boy do I have something g to say about Amelia parenting skill, not that I haven't said them before.

I too got lucky in parents draw. My parents never argued or fought in front of us, all five of us were always secure in our relationships with them. My father didn't like one of the guys I brought home, called him a four flusher but I was never told to drop him and in fact didn't know my Dad's feelings until after the romance was over. My parents trusted us to make our own decisions and live with the consequences. My parents never even commented when my brother married a topless dancer who unbeknownst to us also did tricks on the side. Don't ask how that mess turned out.

My parents followed the adage give your children roots and wings to fly. Amelia gave her kids roots but she won't let them fly.
