GENERAL:

Thanks for the fresh page NovelaMaven. We hit 215 comments on the last one! Cool!

For those who may not know, once you hit 200 comments, you have to click on "newest comments" at the end of the comments in order to see comments 200 and beyond. So if you didn't know that, go back to last week's feed and read the additional 15 comments on the 2nd page. Looking forward to this week's recaps and comments!

Thanks Vivi, this was new info for me!

ahha,

thanks from me too Vivi,

I didn't know about the 200 post clause,
so when I posted yesterday (week of July 15),
it didn't seem to show up, so I posted again,
maybe someone can fix that for me.

COMMENTS:

Irisz- The first and only other time I've seen it happen was on an Amor Bravio post (we were a passionate bunch) and many of us had no idea either, so I figured I'd mention it, just in case.

OFF COMMENT -

Adriana Noel, or anybody who likes or watches brazilian TNs.

I was looking for brazilian tns to watch and get to know because I heard they are very good and as it turns out one of the local channels just bought the broadcasts rights for Avenida Brasil, they already dubbing it and the broadcast scheduled to start at the beginning of August.
Have anybody heard of it or saw it? It's fairly new (original was played in 2012 in Brazil) supposed to be very good, according to Wikipedia broke the viewing records at home.
Unfortunately I know nothing of it or of the actors who play in it, or anything else.

I'd appreciate some info. THX!

BRAZILIAN TNS:

Irisz- The comments I have seen on Avenida Brazil on the NovelasLounge site say it's very good, and all the big LatAm networks (e.g. Televisa, Azteca) and Telemundo in the U.S. are vying to buy the rights to remake it. Don't be surprised in Avenida Mexico, or something like that, pops up in the next year or two.

MARIDO

Sue455 - I'm re-posting my response to your question about TC being bipolar last week since it was on page 2 of the July 15 posts and you may have missed it.

Count me as one who thinks TC is bipolar and that she's had a number of hypermanic, psychotic episodes over the years. Her family is certainly not shocked by her behavior, sad and frightened by it, but not surprised. And Reinaldo seemed to have just the right medication on hand for her and knew exactly how to deal with her.

Beth

MARIDO

Beth I did see your comment. Ro told Pati that TC was depressed and asked her if she remembered the last time TC was depressed. He thought she should call the doctor. The stress of Tia Iris' pending arrival seems to have brought on manic symptoms:
impulsively getting rid of some of her clothes, being overly critical to the maid (seeing dust where there wasn't any), picking a fight with Paloma, the hallucinations outside, rapid speech. Paloma called her "desquiciada" which is a nicer word for "crazy" and asked her if she had forgotten that this has happened before. When Reinaldo arrived she wanted to call the police so they can arrest what or whoever was attacking her. And Reinaldo knew exactly what to do.

I wonder if he stays with her out of pity. It appears that he does love her but she must be a handful. Enter Griselda.

Of course I could be completely wrong about this. :)

Vivi, thanks for the info about the 200-comment limit. However, I just went to last week's page, and I didn't see any link to "Newest Comments" or anything remotely like that. ???

Juanita- It might be at the very top or right over the comment box. It's different in different browsers. In any case, here is page 2 of the comments from the last post: http://bit.ly/15DbTxa

MARIDO

Sue455 - it seems the writers read the DSM when creating TC's character. Her symptoms are classic and will undoubtedly have a profound effect on the plot. On the fun side of this, though, TC is going to give Antonio's fake mom (I can never remember her name!?) a run for her money.

Beth

Juanita-

I had to click on "post a comment", (on last week's page),
and go to that other page to find the newer/newest buttons.

Deb, thanks VERY much for the info about how you accessed the second page of last week's comments. After I read Vivi's response to my message, I went back and looked again and still did not see anything. I came back to this page to report my lack of success and happily found your message. I then tried what you suggested, and that worked! I'm somewhat troubled that there was no hint at all on last week's first page, at least not in my Firefox browser. I was surprised that there were no comments over the weekend...little did I know.

Actually, of course, there were some terrific comments, but it's now after midnight, and I'm too tired to do anything more than go to bed. G'night, all.

Brazilian TNS

Irisz, whenever I want to learn stuff about a tn I go to wikipedia. I know it's not always accurate, but with tns it's good enough for me. And they have the information in more languages, sometimes the English article is just a snippet, but the Spanish one is more detailed.

Here is the link for Avenida Brasil:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avenida_Brasil_%28telenovela%29

I haven't watched a Brazilian tn for quite some time, but I always enjoyed them greatly. I believe O Clon is almost a masterpiece and there are several others just as good.

Thanks for the info about the over 200 comments links, Vivi!

DyO
Aaaiiieeee!!!!
Let me state that Gina is no longer my favorite kooky, yet warm and fuzzy, character.
J in Oregon

DyO
Amen!!! She opened up all kinds of BSC juice in this episode!!!

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Lunes, Part 1

Turco looks at Ximena’s pretty body, tells her she’s his dream come true. They do the deed, and afterwards, he tells her it was wonderful, how was it for her? She doesn’t want to say, is worried about being discovered by a henchman, gets up, and carefully walks out. Later, however, after he’s installed her in a hotel room in D.F., she admits she loved it, too. But they can’t do it again, not for now. For now, she has to concentrate on getting back her children. After that, well, we’ll see. Turco gives her the phone, she calls Aurelio, pretends to be contrite, asks for forgiveness (this is their plan). Aurelio isn’t so quick to forgive, hangs up on her. But Turco says that’s okay, it’s just the first step. Gradually, you may be able to win over his confidence.

Leo glares at Parra, so it was you all along? He has a knife, she picks up a little trash can to block the blow, and when he strikes, she parries, then kicks. He goes down. She moves to escape, calls for Ochoa, Parra says he’s not coming. Parra rushes after her, the gun is on the ground. She gets it first, they struggle, a shot rings out. He’s dead. Yes! Later, when Marco arrives, they hug desperately, he then wants to send her right back to Colombia, but no way, she’s not leaving now.

Chacorta doesn’t want Mati to go to Colombia, but Aurelio has spoken, and Matilde also convinces Chacorta by promising they’ll try for that baby when she gets back. Aurelio meets with Bert, confirms Bert knows about the pregnancy, tells Bert do whatever possible, but don’t let her abort the baby. If she gives you too many problems, you can arrange for a little “accident”, you have a green light for whatever. What, Pa, you’d be okay with killing your own brother’s wife? Yes, son, sometimes people lose their usefulness to us, and we have to do what’s necessary. (Uyyy.)

Colmenares meets with Marco, tell me everything about all the corrupt people you’re investigating. Well, replies Marco, with all due respect, I’m only supposed to report to the President and Benitez. I don’t care, says Colmenares, I’m 25 percentage points up in the polls, I’ll be President in less than 6 months, and frankly, I don’t think the current President is doing anything, and may even be hindering things. So if you want to help this country, you’ve got to work with me NOW. I’m not sure what Marco will say, but we know that Aurelio’s been given the message to hurry up and kill Colmenares, and I think he wants Chacorta to do it.

CIELOS, Part 2

Cabo and Tijeras are talking with Triste about revenge against Aurelio, when all of a sudden, Topo shows up. He insults Cabo, how could you be such a sh*tty guard for Mónica, letting her get killed! Cabo is furious about this, both he and Topo pull guns, and Triste does all he can do to keep them separate. Finally, they calm down a little. Topo wants to go in and kill Aurelio with a coordinated action. He explains they’re working on this with Randy, an American, and a contact named the Trojan (whom Topo knows is Turco, but Cabo doesn’t). Cabo is suspicious of all this, says look, I’ll kill Aurelio myself, Topo says fine, but you only have one day to do it. Cabo agrees.

Tijeras’ cousin arrives from Colombia. It’s the same actor, with a full beard, and talks sort of dumb. It’s amusing when we see them talking to each other, with a split screen, or clever editing. I think his name is JJ. He unwittingly makes both Cabo and Tijeras feel guilty, because he brings them a little present, talks about his Mom (Tijeras’aunt), and acts like a puppy dog. But business is business. They tell him he has to shave off that beard and cut his hair. Later, Cabo calls Aurelio, remember that little matter you ordered me to take care of? Aurelio actually has forgotten, but Cabo reminds him, killing Tijeras. Cabo says he’s going to bring the proof. So it’s in two hours, at the south warehouse. After hanging up, Aurelio and Chacorta talk about how they still might just kill Cabo and Tijeras both, and wait for the new contacts from Matilde (who has left for Colombia with Bert). Cabo arrives, dragging JJ, disguised as Tijeras, face bloody, barely alive, saying, why? Cabo then shoots him dead, saying, I always keep my word. But will Aurelio let him go?

In Colombia, we see Mati and Bert, meeting with Mati’s aunt and cousins. Mati says to one of her cousins something like, do you know someone who can supply us with a ton of coke, now?

MARIDO:

That Manuel is a piece of work. He makes a scene at a club, trying to get his daughter out of there, gets beaten up by the bouncers, but lies to TC, saying he was in a car accident. So she wants proof, like a doctor's note, and docks his pay. Okay, she's mean, but he then sabotages her party by cutting the wire to the outside lights? Of course, the good news is that this allows Gris to come to the house where the dinner will be, and maybe some secrets will come out.

CIELOS

Nice knowing you JJ, Tijeras cousin from his neandertal side. Good work from the actors showing both guilt and a determination to go through with this. But I wish they didn't have to drag out the guy's death, poor lug.

I worry for Turco though. He's being more familiar with Ximena, touching her face and so on, and that could get him in trouble.

Leo, however, is totally badass and my role model. Must look into kick boxing classes.

Kelly

DYO

recap coming soon! Got a little behind this weekend...

DyO
Take your time, AnotherAmy!

Cielos
Tks Hombre

No one is safe from Aurelio but I think Matilde's resourcefulness & survival instincts are almost as good as Leos'.

Pobre JJ, very good expressions of guilt on Cabo & Tijeras faces.

DyO,

Wow fake Gina really loosing it! She got reallyyyyy scary.

GENERAL- BRAZILIAN TNs
I didn't read the whole article, but I just saw that there's an Avenida Peru in production.

MARIDO,

Great episode.
Loved the Gris-Celeste girl talk.

If G. doesn't want to jump Gabriel send him over, I take him off her hand any day.. :)

So now G. knows about Antonio, that was a very low hit she got that evening, kudos for Sonya interpreting the hurt.

Please, please G. barge in on that dinner, tell him a piece of your mind and give him out in front of everybody.

CIELOS

Muchas gracias, Hombre. I hadn't realized that the actor playing Tijeras' cousin was the same one who plays Tijeras. No wonder they sounded so much alike! And add me to the list of people who think the actors playing Cabo and Tijeras did a terrific job of expressing reluctance, guilt, and a determination to move ahead with the killing.

I also found it interesting that Triste defended Cabo against Topo's accusations of incompetence in not saving Mónica, even admitting if anyone deserves blame he, Triste, is the one, not Cabo.

I'm not really sure what Turco's plan is to help Ximena get her daughters back and then get out of the country. Aurelio doesn't seem to be in any hurry to forgive Ximena or even let her return. I'm not sure there's anyone Aurelio trusts absolutely and who is safe from Aurelio's callous violence. He becomes more extreme every day. Even Beto was taken aback by Aurelio's telling him that if need be, Beto could arrange for Matilde to have an "accident." If by some chance Chacorta fails to kill Colmenares, I wonder whether Aurelio will decide that Chacorta, too, has betrayed him, or at least has outlived his usefulness. After all, it won't be Chacorta's first failure to carry out Aurelio's orders. Q.E.D.

CIELOS

Thanks so much, Hombre. I finally caught up over the weekend. I didn’t watch any novelas Thursday or Friday as I was out and about both evenings.

Kelly – thanks for “Tijeras cousin from the Neanderthal side of the family”. I actually really like Tommy Vásquez. He has really good range. He played Pablo Escobar’s brother in law in Pablo Escobar. And he played a terrific, straight as an arrow Colombian police Captain in La Mariposa. He was in love with an uptight female DEA agent and finally managed to win her over. He had me at hello! In that one he spoke perfect, clearly understandable Spanish so the difficult-to-understand narco jargon is an acquired accent.

I don’t think Ximena is in love with Turco. She’s always valued his friendship and is fond of him. She clearly said the sex was to see what another man would be like as Aurelio has been her one and only. I also thought there might be an element of “breaking the spell” by having another man. Until very recently she’s always still been in love with AC, despite everything.

Sigh. They always go with the two people struggling with a gun (Leo and Parra) and one gets shot. Well, however Leo got him, I’m glad she did. That Parra was despicable!

It looks like Beto is pretty much over his Tía Mathilde, although he was quite shocked at his father telling him to get rid of her if she became a problem. I was shocked too, as he was pretty insistent on hanging onto the fetus as “part of the family”.

What Colmenares said to Marco sort of amplified the conversation between President César Silva and his rotten primo Ramiro. Ramiro was fairly defiant and seemed to indicate that there might be some skeletons in the President’s closet. And the President wasn’t willing to endure the scandal of outing Ramiro before the election. I wonder if this squeaky clean Colmenares is not wishful thinking for a Mexican audience!

DYO lunes, part 1/2

Bert-ina and Braulio continue their conversation (apparently things have calmed down and the gun has been re-holstered). We learn that more than the money, Gina wants it ALL… the family she never had, the love of a good man, the whole shebang. “I have a SON” she gushes. And it turns out that she’s got a burning hatred for real Gina, for having everything Bertina ever wanted. Was THAT who she was referring to when she insinuated to Marge that Estela wasn’t the only one she wanted revenge on?

Marge is hyperventilating after her discovery of Bertina’s documents. She tries to call Pedro, but he has turned his phone off. Bertina walks in as Marge tries to leave. Bertina discovers that her passport is missing, and Marge confronts her with it. After Bertina tries to convince her that her enfermedad is causing her to hallucinate again, and Marge isn’t falling for it (refreshingly!) and tries to call the police, B gives up the ruse.

We see a mysterious pair of feet and a curly head wheeling her luggage from the airport. She thought bubbles about having been away for so long, and having to leave her son. REAL GINA IS ALIVE. AND SHE’S BAAAAAACK! She heads to the police and tries to convince them that Bertina has stolen her identity, and she and her lawyer have tracked her to LA.

Iggy and Estela argue about Ruben living with Mariano. Tomas interrupts, Iggy informs him there are guests for dinner, and JM/Karina arrive.

Bertina tries to villainize Gina… she abandoned her family, and married a millionaire without even telling them. Well, guess what. She’s d.e.a.d. Marge flies into a rage ala Lupita, and Bertina shouts that neither Gina nor Marge deserve Pedro!! Marge threatens to call the police, and Gina counters that she’ll tell Pedro that Marge isn’t his mother. If he doesn’t believe her, she’ll kill him. She takes the passport and runs.

Iggy’s gonna straighten out this socia business. She tells Tomas that it was she, not JM, who had suspicions about Tomas’s offer. She pushes Tomas to tell her who it was that told him about her convo with JM. He doesn’t want to talk about it here and now. She insists that JM didn’t betray him, and smirks when T wants to have a happy, smiley dinner with everyone. JM ushers Iggy into the serial killer dining room (I so wish I could post a picture here) with his arm around her intimately (??), seemingly leaving Karina to walk in by herself (!!!).

Mariano and Abue Alfa meet up at a restaurant with fun orange walls, green vases, and bright pink flowers. She needs a favor, he questions her about Gina, and she tells him that she’s back, just like him.

Bertina and Braulio are talking again, Braulio thinks they should take the money and run, Bertina wants to stay and carry through with the plan, even though Mariano is suspicious.

DYO lunes, part 2/2

Marge is hyperventilating again, and picks up her purse to leave, when she runs into real Gina at the door (this poor woman cannot get out of the house without running into a Gina). Having just been told that her sister is d.e.a.d. she is suspicious. Gina explains that she was in an accident in London that killed her husband and left her in the hospital in the coma for a long time. Of course, she had to have plastic surgery to fix her face, so now she looks different. She recounts memories that convince Marge she is the real deal. “Where’s my Pedro?” asks Gina.

Mariano tells AA about his suspicions that Bertina is an impostor. He admits he could be wrong, but there’s only one person that can help him… Margarita.

Mireya has an awesome idea… why doesn’t Lupita give Mireya and Pedro her baby to raise as their own? She can still watch her baby grow, as “Tia Lupita”, and she can continue living her care-free life. Lupita is impactada. Viewers have heard this plan somewhere before…

Karina and Tomas are in the kitchen alone, and K tells T not to believe Ignacia… she heard the whole thing, and she knows it was JM who told her the truth. Do you really think I would lie to you?? I would NEVER! Estela walks in as K is caressing Tomas’s cheek. “Am I interrupting something?” Estela is onto them, and argues with Karina. Karina stomps out and announces to Iggy she’s leaving, JM offers to take her home (ugh). Enter Mariano, Estela is impactada.

Gina is telling Marge her story… Berta and she became friends shortly after she arrived in London and became like sisters, they cleaned houses together, and they were cleaning the house of a wealthy widower when he fell in love with Gina and he asked her to marry him. Then came the accident, and when Gina woke up, Berta had taken everything and fled… now she’s in LA and the family is in danger. Pedro comes in, and it occurs to me that this is where he got his curly hair…

Gina is on cloud nine, “You’ve grown into such a man, the same eyes, the same face as when you were a baby!” Pedro is confused, Margarita sends him off on an errand. Marge begs her not to say anything, and Gina begs that she only let her be close to him, as his “aunt”. (aunt/mother switcheroo scheme #3, in case you’re counting).

Pedro walks in on Mireya’s and Lupita’s conversation. Lupita needs to talk to him about something.

Iggy is indignacia at Mariano’s crashing of the party. Mariano just wanted to advise Estela that Ruben is safe and is staying at his place for a while. “Over my dead body!” shouts Estela (be careful what you wish for… you ARE a character in a telenovela). JM and Karina sneak out, and the gritos continue. Mariano leaves, Estela and Ignacia retreat upstairs, and Tomas is left scratching his head.

Lupita begins to explain the plan to Pedro, but faints before she can finish (someone forgot to tell her she can stop fainting once the audience knows she’s pregnant).
Gina tells Marge that she was preparing to contact them once her economic situation improved, but then the accident happened. Marge breaks the news that Bertina has been with the family impersonating her for a while now. She also tells her that Estela now knows that Gina’s hijo is still alive, but doesn’t know that it is Pedro.

Bertina is terrorizing the receptionist at the constructora, demanding her inversionista money YA. Olga the recepcionista says it’s not that easy, and Bertina storms out in a flurry of insults.

Iggy shows up at Karina’s place, and wants to know why K is fighting with her mother all the time.

Fin del capitulo.

MARIDO lunes 22 de julio Part 1

Some scenes combined for continuity. Skipping scenes from previous episode.

A Streetcorner in Miami

Gris wonders where Antonio got a sports car. She yells to him but he doesn't hear (and even if he did he would turn on "selective hearing") and drives away. She chases after him into traffic and almost gets hit but Gabriel pulls her away. At the bar she tells K about the car and he wants to call Antonio. Gris says no, she will ask the questions. Clara agrees that Gris should handle this; besides, they would just get into a fight and then how would Gris feel? Gabe walks with her to her van and volunteers to be her assistant. She declines.

University

Antonio calls "Giselle" who says she has butterflies in her stomach. She takes a swig of some alcoholic beverage and promises him he will feel proud of his "mother." After hanging up he meets Pati who admires the car. She asks where he got it and NEWSFLASH: Antonio actually tells the truth–a friend lent it to him. Pati comments on how many friends Antonio says he has but she hasn't met any of them. She gets her suspicious nature from TC. Speaking of, Antonio asks if TC is going to the airport with them. Pati replies that after what happened last night she will sleep all day.

Chez Palmer

A snoring TC is lying on Reinaldo's shoulder. Reinaldo gets up and when he is leaving for work he asks Ro not to leave her alone for one minute. Ro assures him of his loyalty. Reinaldo also asks him not to pretend that it didn't happen and in that way maybe she will realize she needs help. JP calls to ask how TC is doing. Reinaldo explains that they found her at the posada and she was having a panic attack. JP supposes the message from Tía Iris might have triggered it but Reinaldo chalks it up to stress over the dinner for Antonio's mother. The two discuss how TC doesn't exactly approve of Antonio (she does call him "semi-prometido"). JP hands the phone to Esther who asks for a table at Gourmet Palmer, she's bringing a guest, a Dr. Perkins.

Casa de Manuel y Celeste

Sol is sporting some large earrings. Manuel demands that she take them off–they make her look like a slut ("mujerzuela"). Useless for her to argue that all her friends wear them. She takes them off and throws the on the floor. He orders her to pick them up and hand them over. He then breaks them, throws them back on the floor and leaves. Sol says she can't stand him and wishes he would die. Celeste reminds her he's her father and warns her not to say anything like that again. (Sol, all of Viewerville will say it for you.)

Chez Palmer-Salas

Esther tells JP if he is having misgivings she can cancel her lunch with Dr. Perkins. (I'm confused. After JP's little talk with Reinaldo where he admits he's sterile, he was on board with the idea of in-vitro. Or was that just for show?)

Beach

Leonardo sees a girl at the beach and invites her to get some juice at the posada. She says she can't go because she has to get to class. Lifeguard says that Penny's parents are rich and that she wouldn't hang out with "desarrapadas" ("dressed in rags") like Leonardo.

DyO,

great show, great recap AnotherAmy!

Aaaiiieeee!!!!, is right, J in Oregon,
I hope there are no more Ginas on the way,

Pedro who is struggling with his crush on Ignacia, is sure kept distracted by the two families, where was he running off to with Lupita, do they even own a car,
(I'm afraid that until Margarita finds out Lupita is pregnant, she'll never beat the fainting curse, maybe they can start fainting together)

probably a good thing that Ignacia's dinner party broke up early, since there was NO food, or anyone to cook it, only the wine that JM brought, that non-alcoholic Tomas drank,

I enjoyed watching Karina tremble as Ignacia demanded to know Tomas' source,

I'm sure Tomas was wishing there weren't so many witnesses so he could beat some sense into Ignacia,

Olga needs to ask for a raise.

Another stellar job, AnotherAmy! Lots of great lines like someone forgot to tell her she can stop fainting once the audience knows she’s pregnant and I liked the inversionista/recepcionista word play.

All kinds of shenanigans last night! I almost felt like the "cliffhanger" was anticlimactic.

Wow Braulio is weird looking.

DAMA Y OBRERO

Thanks so much for the terrific recap, Another Amy. You certainly got an exciting episode to recap!

Boy, Fake Gina went bad to the bone. For a minute there I thought she was going to strangle Margarita.

At least they followed up that disgusting scene with the real Gina arriving and telling Mags the whole awful story. They also answered a question about why rich Gina never sent any money home to her sister's family. She worked for years cleaning houses and only just married "poor Oliver" and didn't have a chance to help her family before the jealous and vengeful Berta arranged to kill them both in an arranged car accident, I think. It seems like Berta thinks Gina is dead as well.

OK, why doesn't Ignacia ream out Tomás for his drinking? I think I missed some episodes after he got roaring drunk on champagne in his office. How long are they going to drag out this ridiculous marriage?

And they're sending Abue to a nursing hime? It's about time she spilled some beans about Estela's big secrets. They didn't get that far, but I got the impression Abue is planning to move in with Mariano to escape the Tomás/Estela House of Horrors.

So, is this because it's the early, kiddie hour novela or what? I mean why don't they say if Mireya is also pretending to be unable to have sex. It would be useful information if we knew whether or not she was supposedly condemning Pedro to a life without sex and he's going for it out of guilt. Of course there's really nothing wrong with her, but she has to pretend at least until she gets a church wedding! And her kindly offer to take the baby is to bind Pedro to her even more.

MARIDO

Sue, I think something happened with the second part of your recap.

I loved how TC, in all her craziness, did find something off about "Giselle" - the fact that she looks to refined for a cowgirl. She is a loony, but a smart one.
I do believe I found a mistake, though..."Giselle" was supposed to arrive late at night, basically the same time as Amalia's dinner - that was one of the main reasons why Antonio said there was no need for TC to come to the airport. But instead, she came the next day, the same day of the dinner.

Another itzy bitsy thing: when "Giselle" said she had an important political reunion (LOL), that had nothing to do with TC's invitation to stay with them, right? I mean, she was offering a place to stay, not a place to hang out after leaving the airport. So the excuse didn't work for me, it was just one of those tn things that happen and make you roll your eyes.

I'm glad Gris knows the truth, maybe this means they won't drag this out forever. I want Antonio to get what he deserves fast...although I must confess I don't find him totally despicable. It could be the actor's pretty eyes or the fact that he is really good at his job, but sometimes I understand where Antonio is coming from. I don't agree with him, but he was raised among the rich, with fancy schools and fancy clothes...all thanks to his mother, of course...Yeah, it has to be hos pretty eyes...

MARIDO lunes 22 de julio Part 2

Chez Palmer

Looks like one of the dogs peed on a carpet because Ro threatens to send him to Japan, where they make sashimi. He notes Manuel's beat-up face. TC who is no longer psychotic but merely obnoxious says he was hit by a car and suggests he wear a burka. (TC is not PC.) She orders him to take her to the airport.

Miami International

Giselle looks as though she should be headed for Departures but goes to Arrivals instead. Antonio and Pati arrive and tells her to wait outside the terminal while he parks the car. Giselle greets them and like a good mother tells him that he's too skinny. He introduces Pati. TC walks up and introduces herself. Cara de "oh Sh!t" de Antonio. TC says Giselle will ride with her and she will stay at the Palmer home and she will not take no for an answer. Pati takes TC aside and says she's making Giselle uncomfortable. Antonio tells Giselle she can't stay with TC because she will bombard her with questions and she could wind up making a mistake. Giselle says she knows how to get out of this situation. She tells TC that she has to go to a political meeting but it shouldn't interfere with the family dinner. She assures her they will have enough time to become better acquainted. Antonio, Pati and Giselle leave. TC calls Reinaldo and says she thinks Giselle is a bit too sophisticated to be living on an hacienda.

Taco Bar

Leonardo demands his salary from Gabriel so he can buy some expensive sneakers. He calls Taco Bar "una pociliga" (pigsty).K tells him to have respect for the place where his mother works. Gabe gives him $30 and he complains this wouldn't even buy half of his sneakers. He needs money to keep up with his friends. Gabriel offers him more work and when he bristles at the idea Gabriel tells him to "take it or leave it."

Gourmet Palmer

(Or is it Palmer Gourmet? I've heard both.) Esther and Dr. Perkins are having lunch. Esther asks her if a woman her age can become pregnant. She explains that her husband is sterile but it didn't matter before. Now she wants to be a mother. Dr. Perkins thinks she can help. Brindis.

Casa Carrasco

Gris comes home to find a tool she needs and wonders if Antonio is home. Amalia says he's not there and probably is at school. Gris eats the lunch Amalia made and lives to tell about it. Mother-daughter talk ensues re: mother's relationships with her son and her daughters.

Adriana I'm confused. I just posted Part 2 because I thought I had lost it. So how did you see it before I posted it? It's only showing up once.

Anyway, that excuse is indeed lame because TC did offer her Giselle a place to stay and Antonio is not going to be around all the time to keep an eye on her.

As for Giselle being too sophisticated for an hacienda, well TC didn't watch Amor Bravio.

Thanks for pointing out when Giselle was supposed to arrive. Continuity issue.

I'm curious. Ro's comment about sending the dog to Japan– is this a cultural joke? Do Spanish-speaking people say that sashimi could be made from dogs the way Americans say that Chinese food could be made from cats?

On to Part 3.

DAMA Y OBRERO

I know nothing of the Chilean original so maybe all this stuff happened in the original, but watching the last two episodes of DAMA Y OBRERO, I just smell rewrite hell.

The telenovela got awful ratings in the first two weeks, and I'm thinking Telemundo panicked. The breakneck acceleration of revelations, lack of set ups, endless chatter to explain what is going on (plot point logorrhea), immediate intrusion of new character (and more are coming - Angelly Moncayo is joining soon), emphasis on action and violence, and general air of incoherence - tell-tale signs of rapidly inserted rewrites.

CIELOS

Thank you, Hombre. Your recap is great. You do such a good job capturing these characters - who are worse than awful!

I felt so sad for Tijeras' country bumpkin primo. They didn't just kill him, they beat/tortured the poor guy, and then they kiiillled him. It doesn't matter to me that Tijeras felt rotten about having to call his tia and tell her how he'd gotten his cousin a good job, T & C need to SUFFER for what they did to an innocent!

Colmenares put Marco in a bad spot with his 'give me the names' demand. If Marco doesn't tell him what he wants to hear, Marco can kiss his job good-bye when Colmenares is elected - assuming Colmenares makes it to the end of this TN. If Marco does give Colmenares the names, then he'll be fired by Benitez and the prez. Is this the one time we hope Chacorta can shoot straight and true?

Leo is Superwoman! Parra was no match for our little colombiana. Did Marco say that if anything happens to Leo, he'll die? I hope the writers are just teasing us.

Marido

Sue, I love parts 1 and 2, and I'm eagerly awaiting part 3. No, that's NOT to pressure you, just to say I'm enjoying your recap with its helpful detail and lots of humor. Among my faves: "NEWSFLASH: Antonio actually tells the truth," " (Sol, all of Viewerville will say it for you.)," "TC who is no longer psychotic but merely obnoxious," and "Cara de "oh Sh!t" de Antonio."

I too am confused about JP's attitude toward Esther's becoming pregnant.

As for Manuel, I assume he's intended as a PSA for not putting up with abusive husbands, but I do wish he'd fall under a bus, and SOON.

As for sophisticated women on haciendas, I suspect TC would take one look at Camila's choice of clothing (and, for that matter, occupation) in Amor Bravío and dismiss her out of hand as unsophisticated, too.

DYO

Another Amy - thanks for hanging in there with DyO. Until this week I thought it was almost the worst TN ever (I'm still baffled by the Ignoracia/Nomas marriage, but - whatever!). It does seem to have gotten more interesting and exciting, and your recaps are amazing. I'm going to stick with it a while longer - thanks to you!

Beth

MARIDO:

Juanita- But Camila cleaned up very nicely when the situation called for, and was quite an educated/sophisticated woman. Giselle just might dress in jeans on the ranch when she’s with the bulls, and put on her city duds when she’s hobnobbing in Miami.

Sue- I am also enjoying the parts of your recap. TC really bounced back quickly. Wasn’t Ro supposed to watch over her all day? And he just let he go off on her own to the airport.

I think JP wants to please Ester and he doesn’t want to rock the boat. I’m sure he has mixed feelings. For years he has thought his sterility didn’t matter because neither of them wanted children. But now, all of a sudden, Ester wants children, and he must be feeling guilty that HE is the reason why she hasn’t had the chance to be a mother. Plus whatever kind of emotions a man must feel about his virility if he is sterile. I can understand that he would be all over the place emotionally.

CIELOS:

Muchas gracias Hombre!

I am so glad that Leo made it out alive. I really don’t think Marco could take the death of another loved one and not totally lose it.

Is there anyone AC wouldn’t kill if he felt they had “betrayed” him? It’s interesting to me that Marco has a really simple view of AC and Ximena. He thinks AC took the kids to keep Ximena from speaking to the police. But it’s deeper than that. This is about control, and Ximena and AC are in the middle of a battle of wills. I totally understand her mixed reaction to sleeping with Turco. She’s got bigger things to think about right now, and she can’t afford to be thinking about romance. She has to get her kids somehow, and get the hell out of the country and AC’s reach. Only when she’s safe and settled can she think about a love life.

Marido

Vivi, excellent explanation of JP's mixed feelings.

As for Camila, I agree that she can dress in a very different way when the occasion calls for it, and I of course agree that she's educated and sophisticated. What I was trying to say is that TC assumes that a woman living on a hacienda isn't going to be sophisticated, so if she saw Camila, she wouldn't be able to see her as sophisticated. In like manner, she assumes that since "Giselle" seems to be sophisticated, she can't really be living on a hacienda. Ironically, her prejudices lead her correctly to sense that there's something off about Giselle.

MARIDO:

ITA about TC's assumptions Juanita. Funny thing is, she has really good instincts. She knows something is off with Antonio (liar), Giselle (fake), and Vanessa (has the hots for her husband). She just gets caught up in her class prejudices and ends up muddling the message she's trying to get across.

MARIDO lunes 22 de julio Part 3

Dealership

The two employees who are suspicious of Rafa ask him where Ivan's car is. He says Ivan must have come along and taken it. He tells the girl to MYOB, she is just there to serve coffee.

Casa Carrasco

Girl talk between Celeste and Gris. Celeste asks about Gabriel. Gris says he doesn't leave her alone. She also says that she that she's been alone for so long that when a man is interested in her she doesn't know how to react. Celeste tells her it's like riding a bike–you don't forget. (Why is everything compared to riding a bike?) She notices the flowers and assumes they are from Gabriel. Gris informs her they are from a satisfied customer, in fact, the husband of Manuel's patrona. Manuel's name reminds Celeste she has to go to the store to buy some ground-up meat because Manuel can't chew very well right now.

University?

Antonio tells Daniel that his "mother" gave a stupendous performance and had TC eating out of her hand. (Don't be so sure!)

Apartamento de Giselle

Giselle shows off to Antonio the dress she's wearing to the dinner.

Casa Carrasco

K and Kikito come home. Amalia asks if they should wait for Antonio before they start dinner. Gris tells her dinner is at the same time every day and if he's not there it's his loss.

Chez Palmer

TC is giving final instructions to the hired staff. She notices a knife not completely clean and yells for Elsa. Elsa wipes the knife on her apron. She tells Ro to put the outdoor lights on. Manuel speaks with TC. She tells him to bring proof that he was unable to work the days he was out. He says his face should be proof enough. She suspends him three days for arguing with her. To get even Manuel sabotages the outdoor lights. TC has a fit. After some useless suggestions she concludes that Gris did a half-ass job when she fixed them the last time. She calls Gris, tells her the job she did on the lights was crap and demands that she come immediately to fix them.

Casa Carrasco

K offers to go with Gris but she says no. She leaves. Amalia asks K and Kikito if they liked the lasagna she made. They nod yes and when her back is turned K scrapes his on to Kikito's plate. (Too cute!)

Chez Palmer

Gris asks Ro to show her where the problem is. They walk off as Antonio and Giselle arrive. Just as Gris suspected: sabotage. Someone has cut the wires. Ro wonders who would do that. Gris is missing her insulating tape–she thinks K borrowed it and didn't put it back. She asks Ro to go to the house to get her some. She looks up and notices Antonio's car and recognizes the license plate. She asks Ro who it belongs to. He tells her about Pati's fiancé Jose Antonio, medical student, and his mother, Giselle. ¡Ay pobrecita de Griselda! Parece que tiene un corazón roto.

DyO
This is the kind of circo I *love* though!

Plenty of chemistry between the leads.
A snidely whiplash, mustache twirling villain (and this one is a drunk to boot!)
And action! Hardly a moment of filler.

To this we can add

Cougar mom.
A fake paraplegic
An identity thief who looks NOTHING like the original. I mean seriously, plastic surgery has come a long way, but how did this two people who used to look sort of alike (if you squint during the flashback) get to look SO.DARN.DIFFERENT? And better: even the family didn't seem to bat an eye!

Oh this the stuff of cheesy escapist fantasy! I'm in 7th heaven!

I don't need no stinking quality!

MARIDO

Sue455 - great recap! Lots of detail and so many different locales to cover!

I was so glad to see Sol take her earrings out of her lobes and stop arguing with that sadistic, abusive a$$ho!e. Manuel is just the type to rip them out. There is no reasoning with him, and Sol and mama could be very seriously injured during one of his blow ups. They need to get out now.

"Giselle" looked and behaved beautifully, but TC is so suspicious. Dinner will be a treat. TC is beautiful in her lavender gown.

Was it me, or did Pati seem a little off when TC told her to go get dressed for dinner?

Beth

DyO
Another great recap, Another Amy and thanks as always!
Still have whiplash from the writers switching Tia Gina to a psycho villain with none of the standard warning flags. Glad they didn't waste any time getting Tia Gina number 2 on the scene though. Hahaha, yes, Olga the secretary should be getting hazard pay.

CIELOS

I don't think I've ever encountered a character who is the leading man in a TN who is so despicable as Aurelio. There is nothing about him that makes me feel the slightest inkling of compassion. Unlike the performance of Fernanda Castillo, as cruel as she could be, I felt that she showed her vulnerabilities and in doing that I somehow wanted her to survive. I want Aurelio to suffer and that idiot son of his, Beto, to get what's coming to him, and it shouldn't be good.

Brava, Leo! If I could be any of the women on this TN, it would be you.

Hombre, I'm joining the discussions late in this TN, but muchas gracias for your exceptional recaps!

It is incredible to me that urelio doesn't want Matilde to abort her baby, because it is "family." This is coming from a man who slept with his sister-in-law, killed his father-in-law, taught his son how to be an amoral killer, deceives his wife every second he gets chance, and punishes her by taking her children away. Quite a family man!! I agree with Marta that Aurelio is totally despicable. But what can you expect from a sociopath?? I also loathe Irina and think she and Aurelio deserve one another, although he would kill her without a second thought if necessary, while she is in love with him and
like Monica wouldn't kill him. I think it would be poetic justice if Aurelio kills her.

MARIDO

Gracias Sue455 for the recaps. much appreciated.

Adriana Noel - lol! on "Antonio's pretty eyes" I too am not disliking him at all por eso.

DYO

So instead of writing the recap of tonight's episode, I've spent the last couple hours looking up info about the Chilean version (thanks RG... my curiosity got the best of me) and watching a few episodes on youtube that correspond to what we've been seeing recently. It seems RG may be on to something... in the Chilean version, there is no hint of a Gina impostor or psychotic meltdown (unless this comes later), and interestingly, nor is there a hint that Mireya is faking... she seems to be disabled for real. Hence, it seems Telemundo writers have taken over and we quite possibly have an alien abduction or zombie apocalypse looming in the future of this TN. Which I would actually kind of like to see...

Thanks AnotherAmy for the funny recap!
This TN definitely have extreme twists and turns, going from 0-100 in a NY minute.

I think I'll stick it out for that alien invasion! :-)

DYO martes, highlight reel (not necessarily in order)

* Karina and Tomas make out some more.

* Ruben and Mariano bond some more. Well, kind of.

* Estela yells at Ruben some more.

* Lupita is fine at the hospital, and Mireya continues to try to convince her that she should give Pedreya the baby. Lupita has that magical moment during the ultrasound and tells Mireya she won't give it up. M is pi$$ed.

* The Big Stuff: Bertina encounters real Gina at Marge's house, a ruckus develops, Bertina kidnaps Marge at gunpoint (TN bingo!). Gina calls the police, follows in a Taxi, and they wind up in a parking garage. Neto has witnessed the kidnapping and follows the taxis (must have been quite the taxi caravan) calling Pedro. Pedro rushes from the hospital leaving Lupita with Mireya and gets to the garage just in time. There is a struggle between Marge, Bertina, and Pedro and the gun goes off. After the commercial break, we learn Bertina is d.e.a.d. by gunshot. Braulio has been arrested trying to flee his hotel.

Feel free to fill in the rest! Lots of deets I didn't get the chance to transcribe.

MARIDO,

Thanks Sue455 for the recap.

Poor G is got it hard.

Unfortunately after tonight's episode I have a feeling Antonio going to get off light.

DyO

I'm glad you highlighted the taxi bit - that sequence had me rolling. First, the idea of taking a taxi to kidnap somebody. Then, the idea there would be a taxi in that neighborhood. Then, what killed me, the real Gina also catching a taxi in taht neighborhood literally a few seconds later.

It will be interesting to see in the next few episodes if we're going to be getting massive, EL FANTASMA DE ELENA type changes or just minor tweaks. Presently, what the seemingly thrown together impostor plot amounts to is merely a change in a single actress.

It seems the actress playing the first Gina is gone unless the character has a twin sister. Either the actress couldn't continue for some reason or she was fired. Obviously, they deemed the character too important for the rest of the novela - for the revelations involving Pedro as well as to provide a rival for Estela, so they had to recast.

Diana Quijano as the new/old real Gina is a good old pro so she could come in with little prep and be fine. Always had enormous fondness for her as she was in the first novela I saw all the way through - Prisionera, where she played the Satan worshipping Lulu.

TOP CHEF ESTRELLAS
Bit off topic, but I noticed Telemundo is getting ready to mount a cooking competition. The estrellas for this show include David Chocarro, Christian de la Campa (La Patrona's first boytoy and Layevska's love interest on Relaciones Peligrosas), Cynthia Olavarria (Chocarro's sister on El Rostro de la Venganza), Mexican actress Erika de la Rosa (La Patrona) and Lorena Herrera.

My favorite bit: Aylin Mujica, last seen cooking and eating her father's heart on Corazon Valiente, is hosting.

DyO,

thanks so much AnotherAmy!

Gina number 2, (Diana Quijano), I remember her as the mother of Paula (Marlene Favela) in Los Herederos del Monte.

I thought José Ignacio Valenzuela, who did the original, was writing this one but I see that wiki has listed someone as adapting it, José is probably busy with his new original, "Santa Diabla",

let's see,
some other things that happened,

Gina 2 tells her story to Margarita, the car wreck, the brakes failed, she barely survived, Gina 1 comes to the hospital, and starts pulling out her tubes, hoses, wires, etc., and leaves her for dead,

(Gina 2 is so much taller than Berta, not like in the flashbacks)

Braulio I think was the rich husbands accountant,

Mireya (did I get this right, she can't have kids), is totally taken back by Lupita's refusal to give up her baby,

Tomas assures AA that she is off to an assisted living home, "so enjoy your smoke",

Estela visits Mariano to collect Ruben, Ruben asks about Gina, everything blows up and Mariano throws Estella out, he later visits Margarita's but she is out being kidnapped,

Ignacia confronts Estela on why she left Mariano, was it another man?,
this conversation blows up as well,

Berta came so close to telling Pedro that Gina was his mom, but alas, she is dead now.

MARIDO -Tuesday
PART 1

Before we get to the important stuff:

Amalia is getting ready to go visit novio Rafa at his job; she is very in love and K is happy for her, but their talk makes him remember his own wife; when Amalia leaves he takes the picture he has with Barbara near the couch (why does he still have that photo so visible in the house?) and looks on, all sadness.

Gabe talks to Clara about Gris and how he doesn’t think she’ll ever look at him the way he wants her to.

Sol is at the club, dancing, when her mother calls and asks her to come back home because her dad is getting impatient.

And now to the main story:

Ro is explaining Gris about the people attending the fancy dinner party and Gris slowly puts two and two together, remembers her talks with Antonio and seeing him in the car that morning. She starts to cry.

Inside the house everything is great, TC seems pleased with “Giselle” and Pati and Antonio are both happy the parents are getting along (obviously, Antonio has a little more at stake here). Pati suggests they should go see the garden, but TC refuses, she wants them to eat first; in reality, she explains Reinaldo, the lights are broken again and the bigotuda (DRINK) is fixing them. Reinaldo seems to be more than pleased to hear that Gris is there, but TC warns him not to leave her alone with the guests.

Back in the garden, Gris keeps crying, as she fixes the lights. The people in the house are all fascinated when they see them, to “Giselle” they are just like the Parisian lights on Champs- Elysées. Pati loves the suegra, she had no idea she’d been traveling so much (neither did Antonio, dear, don’t worry).

Now in the kitchen, Gris receives her money and refuses the big tip that Ro was instructed to give her (by TC); she hears voices coming from the living room, Ro unwillingly adds some salt to her wounds by explaining that Antonio’s mother is the most elegant woman (flashback with Gris remembering what Antonio asked from her when they had their talk about her changing).
Gris is about to faint so she goes outside for some fresh air, only to see Antonio through the window and, brace yourselves, she decides her work is not done for the night and goes back inside.

In the house, Reinaldo asks if Gris is still there and finds out she finished her job and left. He looks disappointed, but there is no time for that because they all go into the dining room. As a toast is being prepared, Gris comes in, asking to make a toast herself. (I DID NOT think the truth will come out so fast and in such an explosive way; I LOVE IT!)

MARIDO-Tuesday
PART 2

Gris explains that she is the mother, that “Giselle” is an impostor. TC screams at her to get out and Antonio denies everything Gris is saying, to HER face (DRINK UP people, I hope you have a big bottle around you). The only one who seems willing to listen to Gris is Reinaldo, who encourages her to talk.

In the face of Antonio’s denial Gris becomes mad with rage, starts punching him and calls him a traitor and a Judas, reminding him all the sacrifices she’s made for him, how he put him above her other kids. His guilty face is more than telling, so TC realizes Gris is speaking the truth, but of course she spins things, saying that surely this is a complot put together by Antonio AND Gris to get some money out of the family.
Gris explains that she is innocent, that only now she knows the truth, but TC humiliates her (a lot more bigotudas) and throws them all out of the house.

Making matters worse (yes, there is room for worse), “Giselle” does leave, but not before asking Antonio for her money – now the whole mess becomes obvious for even poor Pati, who I believe still held out some hope. Gris cleverly points out the fact that OF COURSE “Giselle” is not Antonio’s mom, otherwise she would have never allowed her to hit him the way she did – that is a reasoning that even TC can’t contest. Pati demands Antonio to explain himself, but he isn’t able to look anyone in the face, now he’s crying (crocodile tears, boohoo).

Hysterical TC wants them all out or she’ll call the police and as much as Reinaldo tries to calm her, she can’t be stopped. Antonio does leave, after giving his mother a vicious look, the “you destroyed my life” kind (the nerve on this boy!). Pati goes after him, asks to know why he lied. Because of TC, he says, she would have never accepted his real family. Yes, ok, but what about me, Pati rightfully asks, why did you lie to me? Because he wanted to take advantage of our prestige, TC intervenes from behind, because he is a lying liar who lies (and I kind of agree with her, being married into a prestigious family would have helped Antonio a lot and he knew it). Finally fed up with her mother’s attitude, Pati asks her to shut up and stop treating everyone like they are not good enough for her.

In the house, Gris goes to take her tools from the kitchen; she feels dead inside, she tells Reinaldo when he asks. After that she runs to talk to Antonio, but he drives off without even a glance at his mother.

Pati locks herself in her room and collapses on the floor, crying, while she’s taking off her almost engagement ring. TC wants to talk to her, but Reinaldo, the only voice of reason right now, asks her to give their daughter some time to cool off – something that she should do, too. He points out to TC that Gris saved them from being royally conned by Antonio and his fake mom, but TC is to wrapped up in her own craziness to listen to any kind of reasonable arguments. Reinaldo tries to make her see that Gris is suffering a lot, too, but TC screams conspiracy and sarcastically asks her husband to go comfort Gris if he’s so worried about her.

MARIDO-Tuesday
PART 3

He takes the advice to heart, though, finds Gris crying next to her car, outside. At first she thinks that he came to ask her to leave, but he is very kind, apologizes for the way she’s been treated in his house – I really love these two, they are a great, mature couple. Gris is surprised that he is apologizing when her son was the one who told all the lies, but Reinaldo knows it’s not her fault. Gris wonders when her son became such a selfish person, she’d like nothing else but disappear, but she can’t, she has to go on living. She cries, as Reinaldo hugs her.

Back in the house TC is searching for Reinaldo (she never thought he’d actually go after Gris); she finds him outside, hugging Gris and she’s not happy about it (no, Sir!) Gris is telling Reinaldo that she’ll throw Antonio out of the house, he thinks she shouldn’t jump to any decisions now, but their talk is interrupted by TC’s circus.

In the meantime, Antonio is driving like crazy, remembering his mother’s words, and crashes the car (OF COURSE, another thing for poor Gris to pay). Some people who found him call an ambulance and Amalia to let her know about the accident.

Amalia is with Rafa, at his work (and all the other employees are not happy that Rafa acts like he’s the big boss); when he hears about the accident, Rafa realizes Antonio crashed the car he gave him. Amalia storms out, asking Rafa to pray for Antonio – his answer is so funny: “yeah, yeah, certainly” he says, but praying is the last thing on his mind. He starts doing some damage control, calls the real owner of the car and asks him if he took his vehicle out of the shop, because it’s gone. Of course the guy has no clue about it, and Rafa tells him he will report the car stolen, because surely this is what happened. Then he keeps the charade going by asking the other employees about the car, too, blaming them for losing it. What a sweet boy Amalia found – if Antonio comes out of the accident alive, I think jail is his next home.

Amalia calls K, tells him about the crash and they go together to the scene of the accident. K urges Amalia to call their mom right away, because she needs to know the truth.

Back at the Palmer-Ibarra house, TC and Reinaldo are now fighting; TC insists that Gris is as much to blame as her son. Just then Amalia calls Gris with the news about the accident. Reinaldo decides to drive Gris to the accident; TC is completely hysterical (again!), thinks the accident was not their fault, so why should they care? But Reinaldo is too much of a gentleman to listen to this nonsense; he drives off with Gris, while Ro and Pati come out of the house and hear about the crash, too. Pati cries on her mother’s shoulder, while TC reluctantly comforts her.

Gris and Reinaldo arrive at the scene of the accident just when the ambulance is driving off; Amalia and K are already there, Gris runs to them and then collapses in Reinaldo’s arms, crying (truly heartbreaking to watch).

MARIDO,

Thanks Adriana, excellent, detailed job of this capitulo!

Loved this episode, great job on everybody's part.
Thanks God we don't have to wait a lot and dance around this whole fake mom plot.

G. was as straightforward facing off her son as she is in everyday life, loved that scene when she marched in and debunked the whole fraud.
And Antonio denying his mom straight into her face, the nerve!
Mirna and A. were trying to maintain the appearance by calling her a liar head on, WHAT??
G. was breaking into pieces right then and there. I was cheering when she started to hit him in her righteous fury!
Kudos for Sonya!

Mirna skipped off the prompt side, why nobody was following her?

Still, I think A. will get off lightly because of the accident G. and Pati will be happy enough he survived.
I do hope this not the case, because he deserves penalty.

Thanks AnotherAmy! Sounds like things got insane last night. This definitely smells like a contrivance to put a new actress in. I know nothing about the actress so I'm looking forward to seeing her. I must say she looks more like she could be Pedro's mom.

I'm on board for alien abductions and zombies. Too! I'm very entertained by this!

MARIDOS

Wow, Adriana, what a terrific recap! All the details made me realize how many things I missed. (It's a good thing I don't have to DRINK for each one!)

I was trying to figure out how you managed to post the recap so soon--the time stamp on Part 1 was 5:41 EDT, and even if you're on the West Coast, that's still 2:41. I'm tired even thinking about it. Though perhaps all the DRINKS needed for Viewerville to acknowledge the ton of lies at dinner made you lose sight of the time? :-)

Anyway, muchísimas gracias.

I too was surprised (and pleased) at how quickly the truth came out, though it was definitely in keeping with Gris' direct and honest style.

I think Antonio will survive the car accident, and the accident may soften Gris' behavior with him, but I don't think he'll get off all that easy. Rafa (whom I haven't trusted since minute one) is clearly out to save his own neck, and he almost surely will report the car as stolen and deny any claim to the contrary by Antonio. Antonio's lies will probably make the police and others believe Rafa rather than Antonio, and A. may well wind up in jail. (Since this telenovela is basically a comedy, Antonio's good looks may not turn out to be as dangerous to him in jail as they might have been in a different sort of telenovela.)
(Considering my track record on predictions, people should probably ignore everything I've just said!)

DyO

RG, interesting point raised and AnotherAmy thanks for the research [and recaps!]
So, we're thinking the hijacking of the TN by the Gina plot was a device for actress switch?
Bizarre.
Not sure this bodes well, since I was hooked by Gina impersonation doings and not so involved in Ignacia/Pedro.

Beth, I'm with you, the Ig/Nomas marriage is a big flaw. We've seen way more reason for Karina and Nomas to be together than Ig/Nomas. A problem.

Well, Mireya was pressing Lupita way too much, and I do like Lupita continuing to stand up for herself. Maybe after the alien abduction she'll be even stronger.

Clara

MARIDO

Juanita, you made me LOL with your questions about the time when I write the recaps.
I'm not on the East Coast or the West Coast, I'm in Europe. I watch the show on the Internet when I wake up - about 8 a.m. my time, then I recap it (between 10 and 12) and for you it's still early morning. hehe...

I'm sure Antonio doesn't die, they wouldn't use an actor like him if they planed to kill him off so soon.
I hope Gris stays firm with him...I don't know, just like you, I'm afraid she'll have a change of heart.

Time will tell, I guess!

DyO
First of all thank you AA, and also Sara, Deb and others who commented.
Sara: love your rundown of the finer points of this show ("I don't need no stinkin' quality")!
RG: hahaha, I'll have to tune in to see Aylin ("Hanibal Lecter) Mujica on the cooking show!
Last night I was thinking how odd that they they killed off a main character already, where's the plot going to go with no bio-mom standing in the wings. However it never dawned on me about the actress switch! Thanks, everyone who is smarter than I am! Whew! I do like the actress playing Gina 2.0, saw her in Herederos. The fakey black hair kinda bums me out but I guess she has to match Pedro.
Still shaking my head in disbelief.

I can take all kinds of crap as long as there is action in every episode and the plot moves at a pretty good click. This seems to be what we are getting with this one.

If you give me crap with a snail's pace...which honestly, Televisa is starting to do this more and more, I don't want to watch.

MARIDO:

Wonderful job Adriana. This was a really good episode. I am very pleased that Gris ripped Tony’s pretend world to shreds. No surprise that all he could do was hang his head in shame.

I like how Reinaldo hesitated a few times to touch Gris and then just finally put his arms around her. I think Gris’ normal response would have been to shy away from contact like that, but she let herself go (probably for the first time in a VERY long time) and showed her softer side. These two are building a nice friendship built on respect and trust. Neither is in the place emotionally or legally (marriage status) to acknowledge that there is also attraction. TC will probably pick up on that before they do.

I also don’t like that Tony’s near death experience will likely mean that Gris and Pati will ease up on him/forgive him sooner. But he seems to be in store for a whole lot of trouble with the “stolen” car. Wouldn’t want to be in his shoes.

Marido,

thanks so much Adriana Noel,
such a wonderful recap,

not a happy story,
I did catch myself laughing at TC's background expressions,
there are no tragedies other than her own,

Pati is such a nice girl, so sorry for her,
but better now than later,

Reinaldo and Griselda do make a nice pair,

Antonio is such a snot,
I can only see him adding the dinner party and the car wreck to his mothers long list of crimes,
(I see his looks weren't damaged)
who would guess that he spent the day dissecting corpses and such,
and by night was so artificial,

it seems like Daniel should have been in the background somewhere.

MARIDO

Adriana Noel - I don't have time to read right now, but thanks always for your recap.

I was eagerly looking forward to how Giselle/fake mom scenario would play out, and it was surprisingly nipped right in the bud. which is a good thing.

Sonya Smith's portrayal of the hurt-devastated-belittled-betrayed-etc-etc mom tugged at my heart. and I could feel Reinaldo's compassion just by watching Juan Soler's face as a spectator.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Martes, Part 1

As we edge closer and closer towards the gran final of our show, the plans and relationships are getting rather complex, and lots of questions remain unanswered. Let’s see what happened last night. We begin in Colombia, where Matilde’s cousin, whose name seems to be Tinieblo (tinieblas means darkness or gloom) says in order to get the quantities of drugs you need, we’d have to go to the jungle. And I don’t think children are allowed (pointing to Bert). Bert isn’t pleased with this, shoots back, well, you may not realize this, but your cousin Mati is the sister in law of the Lord of the Skies, and I just happen to be his son! Tinieblo says in that case, we have a deal.

Irina has sex with Aurelio, she asks about Mónica, he tells her Mónica won’t be in the picture anymore, which pleases her greatly. She tells him Ramiro wants AC to hurry up and kill Colmenares, AC says then get me his schedule. She meets with Ramiro, who makes a few quick calls, and writes out the schedule on a piece of paper. He warns Irina to destroy this paper, since it has Ramiro’s writing on it, just enter the info into your computer or something. She nods, but we don’t know if she will really destroy it. Later, she meets with Aurelio again, after giving him the info, he asks her, where should we do the hit? You choose. Irina doesn’t care, just says well how about San Luis?

Marco has told Colmenares that he needs to think about giving info to him directly, without clearing it with the President or Benitez. But he’ll have the answer tomorrow. That night, he discusses it with Leo, who thinks he should do it. Later, she has nightmares, with both Aurelio AND Escobar wanting sex from her (in a scene that of course never happened). In the morning, they discuss strategy again. Leo says they should investigate Turco. He’s a lawyer, educated in America, expert at money laundering, but nothing’s ever been proved about him. They know he has connections in Colombia. But also, he may have ties in America, to the people he knew while studying there. If Marco and Leo pursue that side, they may come up with something.

Marco calls Colmenares, I’ve agreed to work with you. Let’s meet. Great, replies Colmenares, I just have one more stop to make first. San Luis (!).

We also have a scene between Ramiro and the President, Ramiro wants the President to stop Colmenares from acting like the new President when he hasn’t been elected yet. He then calls the President a wimp (pelele). President Cesár is livid, grabs Ramiro around the throat, says you’d better apologize. Ramiro does so, reluctantly, but with a little threat in his voice. Cesár says if you ever threaten me again, I might just forget that you’re FAMILY! (He IS a wimp :)

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 2

Since Aurelio is temporarily not home (he’s meeting with Irina), Turco sets up a phone call so Ximena can talk to Rutila, and they have a nice conversation, with Ximena telling her she’ll been home “pronto”. Let’s hope.

So while all this has been happening, what about Cabo and the fake dead Tijeras? Cabo holds his gun out in a gesture of magnanimity, see, Aurelio, I kept my word. So let’s do business. I want the Róbles’ routes. Well, my Cabo, you can have those, and also the routes of the Villalobos. But not yet. Huh? Well, I have to make sure this guy you just killed was really Tijeras. C’mon, hombre, you can see for yourself. Well, I don’t know, a similar thing happened with Letrudo once. He calls Turco, who leaves Ximena making her phone call, comes to the hideout. Turco, I want you to do one of those tests on the body, what do they call them? ADN (DNA) replies Turco. Right. So cut off one of the guy’s fingers. Turco says no problem, I’ll make a call. He calls, says we need a DNA test. But guess what, he’s actually talking to Randy! I think Randy is going to supply a woman who will provide a fake DNA test to say yes it’s Tijeras (this is just a guess on my part, but we know Randy and Turco are working together w/o Aurelio’s knowledge). Later we even see a woman who may announce the results of the test.

Aurelio also had some clothes or other items of Tijeras’ brought in to compare to the finger of the deceased (JJ). All this time, Cabo is sweating bullets, but trying to pretend he’s cool. He wants to get out of there, because Aurelio keeps saying if the DNA matches, you’ve got nothing to worry about, but if not.....And the results are going to take a few days.

Back in Mónica’s house, Triste and the real Tijeras are worried, it’s been too long, should they rescue Cabo? Triste’s up for it. He also points out to Tijeras that if Cabo dies, Tijeras is the new boss, but Tijeras doesn’t want to hear this. They’re going to wait until the next day, then maybe try something. (This isn’t so good, since those DNA results take more than one day). Cabo asks Chacorta can he at least make a phone call? To whom? Doña Asunción, madre of Tijeras. Okay, but make it quick. Cabo actually DOES call Tijeras’s mother, just says everything is fine. But the lady knows it was weird to call, and she calls Tijeras, who also says everything is fine. However, he then tells Triste, I can’t believe I’m reduced to communicating with Cabo through my mother. Cabo must be in trouble.

Cabo is in trouble, he goes upstairs, starts rooting around for a gun, finds one, just then Aurelio enters, what’s up, my Cabo? We’ve got a job to do. We’re going to go kill a candidate, and I want you to come along help with the hit! Does this somehow remind us of when they had Guadelupe kill that cardinal, and remember what happened to him!

Matilde tells Bert she’s going to have that abortion whether he likes it or not. The next morning, he sleeps late, but Mati’s Mom says Mati left early to go to some doctor or something. Cut to a doctor, Mati wants the abortion, but she’s scared. Mainly scared of being a mother, she’s not ready for that. The doctor calms her down, don’t worry about a thing. Wrong, Bert bursts in, pulls his gun, yells, stop whatever you’re doing, right NOW!

MARIDO:

Thanks, Adriana, great recap! Unfortunately, the exultation I felt of Antonio's being caught in his lie didn't last too long, with Gris suffering, and then the car accident. It sure was a wild episode.

Rafa is really low. I know, he's just looking out for his hide, but I think he's worse than Antonio. Antonio is basically just a liar, and maybe can eventually change. But Rafa is evil, and will probably become more so as the show goes on. I really hope Amalia finds out about him and dumps him. In Relaciones Peligrosas, the girl who plays Amalia also played the younger sister of the character played by the actor who plays Antonio. And she had a bad guy as her boyfriend. She eventually dumped him, and became friends with a young black guy. Could the same thing happen here? There is that nice black guy who works in the car shop.

Antonio did at one point say he loved Pati, before being cut off by TC. As destroyed as she is, maybe Pati will forgive Antonio, but he's really going to have to change.

CIELOS:

I forgot to add, that after Bert hustles Mati out of that doctor's office, and they argue outside, they get KIDNAPPED!

Marta in NY, thanks for your comments. I agree, Aurelio has few redeeming qualities. Even Pablo Escobar cared about his family to the end, whereas Aurelio seems capable even of hurting his own wife, sister in law, and maybe even his brother (who knows). He still loves his kids though, and maybe Bert's being kidnapped will force Aurelio's hand somehow.

Cielos,

thanks Hombre!

I'm trying to remember, it's only Topo that met with Turco and Randy, so Cabo doesn't know the Trojan, right, but does Turco know that Cabo is in with Topo?

ah yes Aurelio has a good 6th sense when it comes to people, but it does get clouded a little bit when it comes to family, and I think he senses something about Turco, but the fact that he needs him is overriding that one, so who's room was Cabo in where he found the gun,

and I'm not quite sure why Cabo followed through with killing (the fake) Tijeras, is he trying to regain Aurelio's trust, so he can kill him,

the kidnapping was interesting, is it random, is it connected with the deal they made, or does it have to do with Aurelio's enemies say Cabo/Tijeras, news of who Beto/Matilde are may have spread fast in Colombia.

CIELOS

Deb,

I'm thinking the kidnaping wasn't random at all but was a result of Beto shooting his mouth off about being the son of El Señor de los Cielos. The guerrilla guy was the same one who snatched Aurelio towards the beginning of the novela. Maybe that's what Cousin Tinieblo was referring to when he said they'd have to go to the jungle.

CIELOS:

Many thanks Hombre. There are so many things up in the air right now!

Where will the kidnapping of Beto and Mati lead, and how will it affect AC and Chacorta? I see a LOT of deaths coming out of this.

Triste and Tijeras were funny hanging out. They are both right hand men, but they have vastly different styles—Triste is serious and formal in dress and manner; and Tijeras, is well…Tijeras.

All I want out of the final weeks is for Marco, Leo (and their team) to come out alive, and for Ximena to get out of dodge with her girls. Each episode, I see less hope for Turco to come out alive. Last night we had Irina putting a bug in AC’s ear about not trusting Turco. Getting Ximena and her girls out may be the last thing Turco does before meeting his maker.

CIELOS

Another terrific recap, Hombre. Thanks so much. As is so often the case, you've helped me understand a lot that I missed.

Cabo wants to get away from Aurelio's place not just because he's afraid of what the DNA testing might reveal, but also because he overheard Aurelio and Chacorta talking about how successful Mati has been in finding new sources of supply in Colombia, so Cabo is no longer needed. Oops--time to make tracks FAST! But, as you've pointed out, Aurelio comes upon Cabo in some bedroom and asks him to accompany him on a little assassination job he has to do in San Luis. It won't be easy for Cabo to get away. And if Aurelio discovers that Cabo has found a gun....

Deb,

I think Cabo has two reasons for killing the fake Tijeras. He wants Aurelio to trust him, so that Aurelio will give him the Robles and Villalobos territory. And he wants Aurelio to trust him so that ultimately Cabo can kill him (for several reasons, one big one being to avenge Mónica's death).

DYO

Thanks deb for stepping in to fill in the holes! I figured the switcheroo was a way to change actresses, but I hope Gina has a little of that larger-than-life personality too. The character in the few episodes of the original I saw definitely had that big personality that I found so endearing.

MARIDO

I know she's supposed to be over-the-top, but I just can't get through TCs scenes! She makes me tired, and the screeching makes my ears bleed. I'm enjoying the rest of them tho... Sonya Smith is great! I love scenes the family scenes with her, Quique, and Amalia!

MARIDO

Thanks, Adriana, for a great recap. What an amazing episode!

Rafa is going to throw Antonio under the bus. He was so quick to claim car theft. If Antonio is charged with felony car theft, it could be the end of his medical career.

Antonio has a very long way to go with his rehabilitation to good son, novio and human being. His first thought (after blaming Gris for the mess that is his life right now), was to blame TC ('your mother made me do it'). He's such an A$$!

It was interesting to see some of the frustration Reinaldo feels with TC's behavior come out. Usually he just swallows it or dismisses it. This incident may be the beginning of the unraveling of their marriage.

Beth

MARIDO:

Amy- I think if TC weren't so annoying (I wanted to strangle her when she accused a distressed Gris of being in on Antonio’s plan), many would be wondering why Reinaldo is straying when he later (inevitably) hooks up with Gris. There has to be something that propels this good, loyal man away from his wife of many years, and into the arms of our heroine. Otherwise he would look like a heel.

MARIDO EN ALQUILER

Thanks so much, AdrianaNoel. That was a terrific recap!! And it was interesting to hear you're doing this from Europe. Would you mind saying, if you haven't already and I missed it, what city in Europe?

Like Hombre, I was exhilarated by Antonio's unmasking. Kudos to Sonya Smith - just excellent acting job. And I don't think he deserves any pity for any physical problems as a result of the car accident (will they go with temporary paralysis?? coma??). The whole thing was his fault because he drove like a complete maniac and almost killed the woman with the shopping cart.

One thing that was amazing was that Pati finally had it up to HERE with her mother. She called her evil, cruel, and mesquina (mean, and/or cheapskate).

I haven't liked Rafa either. He's waaay too old for Amalia and he basically stalked her at the beginning. Antonio was sort of quasi-blackmailing him to get the motorcycle by threatening to reveal some crooked dealings at the motorcycle shop. And he revealed his true colors last night by throwing Antonio under the bus. Unless Antonio is in a coma or something, Amalia is going to find out what kind of jerk her new boyfriend is.

MARIDO

Last night's episode was riveting and Sonya Smith was fantastic. I love how she went after Antonio in such a fury that her hair came undone.

Yup Rafa is going to try to save his hide at Antonio's expense. Amalia he's not husband material. RUN!

Also love how Giselle instantly turned back into Mirna when she realized all was lost. I'm not a legal expert but there is no written contract so she may be out some money unless an oral contract is binding. Plus the fact he gave her some money in advance. Hmm.

DYO

I missed the first half because I was trying to finish my Marido recap before the next capítulo came on. The taxi chase sounds like a real hoot. On Demand doesn't have this episode yet but I'll be sure to watch it.

I was hooked on this novela as soon as I started watching it, mostly because things happen at a quick pace. On CI Maria Alejandra had her baby two weeks ago and the kid still doesn't have a name. The newborn Prince of Cambridge certainly got his name a lot faster.

MARIDO

Novelera, thanks for adding the names Pati called her mom, when I was watching I wanted to stop the scene to write them down, but I was also so curious to see what happens next, so I forgot :)
And, oh, yeah, Rafa is a weasel.

I live in Paris, but I'm not French. I am originally from Romania, we are big on tns back there, I've been watching with my mom ever since I was about 10 (when they started airing them). When I moved here I kind of stopped because watching alone was no fun, but now I have all the people from Caray Caray to keep me company! :)

CIELOS

Hombre - thank you for the excellent recap - so much detail and intertwining plot lines. And it's unanimous! The prez IS a wimp!

Re: the DNA test. I also think Randy is going to supply Turco with a fake DNA test to say the body is Tijeras, but how did they get Tijeras' clothes? Weren't/aren't his things all at Monica's house? The writers are usually so good on details (and maybe this is something I missed). Is the idea to test the clothes on JJ?

It looks like Colmenares may not make it to that meeting wit Marco.

Beto and Mati never heard that 'loose lips sink ships'! Both of them revealed details that made them dangerously vulnerable. Beto should have kept the "Lord of the Skies' connection quiet, and Mati shouldn't have told her cousin she had a doctor's appt. Right now Mati's pregnancy is the least of their worries.

Beth

CIELOS:

Beth- Remember that Tijeras only managed to escape from being killed at AC's house, after the cops busted in, with only the shirt on his back. AC has access to all his stuff-- clothing, toothbrush, hair brush, etc. Plenty to get DNA off of.

CIELOS

Vivi - thanks for your response. I thought the gang never went back to that house, that they immediately went to a new safe house.

Beth

CIELOS

Thanks again, Hombre. Great job as always!

Welcome, Marta! We love new commenters.

And, good point NovelaMaven, about Beto and Mati probably being kidnapped because Beto couldn't resist playing the "Daddy" card to show what a smart, big-time narco he is (NOT).

This novela is reminding me of Pablo Escobar now because of all the scary foreshadowing that Colmenares may be killed. No spoilers, please, anyone who thinks he represents a real candidate! I have a slim hope Aurelio will fail.

That was chilling when the psychopath playfully offered Irina the choice of cities in which to kill Colmenares; and she, devoid of anything except self-interest, apparently thought this was a good way for him to show his regard for her. She came up with San Luis Potosí, the capital of the Mexican state of the same name.

Aurelio is going to come unglued when he finds out Beto has been kidnapped. Maybe this will derail the assassination attempt.

It's fascinating to watch the wheels turn in Cabo's head. One thing I don't think anyone has mentioned is that Cabo overheard Aurelio talking with Beto, happy to find out there might be a new Colombian drug connection so that they can cut Cabo out of the picture. That's why he went looking for the gun.

CIELOS:

Beth- I figure, since AC has plenty of cops on his payroll, he likely also has the opportunity to get stuff from that house again. Who knows. But he probably has more access to Tijeras' stuff from his stay at many of AC's houses, than Tijeras currently has with what he managed to escape with.

CIELOS

Thank you, Hombre, for another fabulous recap! One thing I'm not understanding is why Leo's dream included Aurelio....but I guess that's the way nightmares are. They incorporate whoever and whatever is going on in real life.

Also agree that perhaps Beto's kidnapping may zap Aurelio into another mode because his children seem to be the only ones he truly cares about. I have no doubt that he'd do away with his own brother if he felt threatened, but if he's having visions of his papa-in-law, I don't think he'll handle that one too easily.

NJ Sue, I too loathe Irina. She's a perfect match for Aurelio. Wouldn't mind seeing them simultaneously doing each other in.

Novelera, thanks for the welcome!

If anything happens to Leo, my TV may not make it to live another day:)

CIELOS:

Thanks, Novelera, for supplying the full name of the city where Colmenares might get hit. And thanks to those who pointed out that Cabo overheard Aurelio tell Chacorta that Cabo's usefulness is over, with the possible new drug routes.

I said Mati's Mom said she went to the doctor, but it's her aunt.

Tonight should be another intense episode!

CIELOS

Vivi - AC could have some of Tijeras' clothes, but I have a feeling that maybe he doesn't, and there is something more sinister at work here, like a set up for both Turco and Cabo. But I'm wrong more than I'm right….

Marta - I thought AC was in Leo's dream because they had sex when she was undercover as 'Claudia', just as she had had sex with Pablo Escobar. One of Leo's regrets about her job is that she's had sex with despicable men as part of her undercover work, and she feels dirty and unworthy of a good, decent man.

Beth

CIELOS

Thank you, Beth. How could I forget she had sex with Aurelio?!! I think I blocked it out somehow, probably because it was such a horrific moment for Leo. Yes, she does regret that as part of her job she's done things she wouldn't have otherwise, and she, as you said, probably doesn't feel she deserves someone like Marco.

CIELOS

Marta, your TV won't be the only one to meet a sudden death if Leo doesn't survive. In fact, given how many people are watching "El Señor," perhaps Leo's death might cause a major boost for the television industry, with so many of us having to replace the sets on which we vent our rage! Needless to say, I'm rooting for our televisions' good health. :-)

CIELOS

And so am I, Juanita. I hope the TV industry hasn't gotten a wind of this conversation or there may be some quick rewrites. No, I guess it's too late for that...lol:)

CIELOS

Are we going to get some product placement for Toshiba here in the last few episodes?

I had to laugh when Aurelio was talking to Chacorta about Mati's Colombian contact, Tinieblo, and Chacorta makes fun of those ridiculous Colombian names. Haha. Good one, Short Fuse.

And at least now we know where Turco got all his high end contacts. Harvard. Careful sending your kids to the ivy leagues, people.

Kelly

CIELOS:

Kelly- I was pretty surprised to see my theory about Turco cultivating his US contacts in college in the States pan out.

CIELOS

Maybe what Turco meant when he called Randy brother was "fraternity brother". I hope he gets a chance to give his pin to Ximena. It's not looking good, but maybe with Randy's help...

Kelly

DYO miercoles, part 1/4

The barrio families are reflecting on the events of the previous episode, and Gina wants them to give her an opportunity to get to know them again. Margarita welcomes her and wants her to come live with them. Pedro is less than pleased.

Abue shows up at Mariano’s place, desperate for that favor she was going to ask for in the last episode. She wants to come live with him.

Gina doesn’t want to impose on them by living there, but Marge insists that she stay with family. And soon, Margarita continues, Mireya and Pedro will have a baby to add to the family! Everyone but Marge and Gina looks shifty and uncomfortable.

Mariano welcomes AA to come live with him, and she complains about how horrible Tomas is, and how Ignacia regrets having married him. Mariano looks upset.

Gina tries to offer an olive branch to Pedro, but he doesn’t go for it. He blames her for telling La Otra all about the family, which enabled her to weasel her way into their lives. Gina tries to tell him how much the family means to her, but Marge comes in, rushing them all to bed… she’s exhausted. Pedro grabs her and holds her, kissing her on the head and telling her how much he loves her… he would die if anything happened to her. Gina looks on in agony.

AA sees news of Berta’s (whom AA assumes is Gina) death on tv and calls Estela in to see. Estela rejoices, despite AA’s disapproval at celebrating the death of another human being.

Gina strolls onto the construction site, giving another go at having a conversation with Pedro. Neto comes over and prattles on about baddie Tomas and his wife Ignacia, and Pedro shooes him away. Ignacia approaches, and Pedro introduces her to his new Aunt Gina, the real one. Huh??

Estela is still basking in the post-mortem glow, and tries to call Tomas to break the news to him, but he’s not answering. AA is disturbed by her daughter’s sociopathic tendencies and goes to get them both a drink.

JM tells Tomas he would like to leave this whole “faux-firing” thing in the past and move forward with the partnership… and he’ll be around if Tomas is ever in the mood to offer an apology (you GO, bomboncito). And by the way, why did Karina leave in such a huff last night?? Tomas goes on the defensive immediately but JM assures him he’s not asking him to defend her, he just wants to know “solo para dejar de hacerme estas peliculitas”… anyone want to weigh in on what this means? My best guess is he wants to stop making up scenarios in his head, but I could be way off on this one.

Gina tells Ignacia the whole sordid Bertina story with Pedro looming behind. Iggy wants to know what’s going to happen to the project, and Gina informs her she plans to continue funding it. Iggy is relieved, and will organize a meeting with the other socios, Tomas and JM, today. When Ignacia introduces herself with her full name, including the “Santamaria” part, Gina has a moment.

DYO miercoles, part 2/4

Ruben and Mariano see the tv report of Bertina’s death, and are confused to hear that her name was Berta Suarez.

Ignacia brings Gina to the office to meet with Tomas and JM, who are shocked at the news that the other Gina wasn’t Gina but Berta and is now dead. Real Gina assures them she will keep her money invested in the project. Estela bounds in, interrupting the meeting, and her celebration of Gina’s death is cut short when she is introduced to the real Gina. BAM. Estela Impactela.

Mireya rolls into the construction site without hard hat (or straps on her dress) to “bring papa his lunch.” She’s dressed up all sexy and pulls Pedro in for a quick smooch, and Pedro is embarrassed. Neto bounces over, saying he thought Pedro had gone to the office with Ignacia to introduce the new tia Gina. “con IGNACIA??” Mireya screeches. Pedro dismisses himself, and Mireya informs Neto she is sick and tired of Ignacia… she has to do something YA. She’s got to step it up to the next level. Uh. Oh.

Estela goes after Gina when she leaves the office and tells her that she’s not afraid of her… she already got her out of the way once. Gina warns her if she messes with her or her family, she’ll destroy her. Estela wonders if everything false Gina said was a lie, including the lie about the hijo, and Gina leaves her wondering. “Believe what you want.”

Marge informs Gina that Iggy and Pedro are half-siblings, and have been caught kissing. Gina thinks they need to tell Pedro the truth (the TRUTH? Well, she is the new girl around here), Marge says things have already been handled: Iggy’s happily married (bleck), Pedro’s having a baby with Mireya, and after all, it was only a kiss. Gina’s not so sure. She’s seen the way they look at each other.

Tomas is grumpy, he lost one naca and now has to work with another one. Ignacia reassures him that Gina is an intelligent lady and they need to show her respect, then everything will turn out fine. Tomas turns on the charm… “I don’t know what I would do without you, my love.” Yucky hug.

Estela is growling to Abue about new Gina, AA warns her that her hatred is going to destroy her. “I’ll hate her until I die!” she responds. Again, you best be watching the death euphemisms, Estela. The Writers are watching, and there may be zombies just around the corner…

Gina runs into Pedro in the courtyard. “You HAVE to stop thinking about Ignacia Santamaria,” she tells him. He tells her it’s none of her business, but this doesn’t deter her. “You’re going to have a baby with Mireya!” He explains it’s Lupita who is going to have the baby and the father is Ruben Santamaria. She doesn’t understand why Marge doesn’t know this, and he tells her Mamacita Santa has cancer.

DYO miercoles, part 3/4

Tender moment with Gina and Margarita reminiscing about dressing dolls together.

Olegario stops by and breaks the ice (from his episode of drunkenness) with Marge. He asks her “Who is Mariano?” He explains that Mariano came to the house the day the sh!t hit the fan, asking for Margarita and Gina. Were they novios or something? Marge dodges the question… “What, one leaves and you want to take up with the other one?” she snarks.

Gina shows up at the construction site, supposedly checking on how things are going with her investment. She asks Pedro if Iggy knows about her brother’s baby, and he doesn’t think so.

Gina visits Iggy in her trailer, and they exchange pleasantries. Gina tells her Ruben knocked up Pedro’s sister. She wants Iggy to talk to Ruben and convince him to man up. Iggy promises to do so.

Olegario’s all “Huh??” and Marge tells him she saw how he flirted with the first Gina… and now he’s going after number 2? He expresses sympathy for everything that happened with Bertina, and he has no intentions with Real Gina. He just wants Marge to take care of her health. She apologizes for being snarky, and starts gushing about their nieto-to-be… Oleg gets fidgety. “I can’t keep lying to this woman.”

Gina gets to Marge’s and no one’s home. Someone knocks, she answers the door, it’s Mariano. She recognizes him immediately, as does he with her.

Ignacia confronts Estela about Mini-Luben, and Estela goes on about how they are the victims in all this, those pobretones are always looking for a way to take advantage. Iggy disagrees, and says she finally understands why Ruben is such a lost, misguided kid. She’s going to have to take things into her own hands. She storms out (after a wonderful sarcastic “way to go, mom” thumbs up!).

Margarita is rambling and showing Mireya the thing she is knitting for the baby, and Mireya is distracted. Marge asks her what’s up, and Mireya tells her she has decided to go live with her tia in Corpus Christi.

Mariano knows it’s her… he recognizes her voice, her eyes, but not her face. She explains that she was in an accident… yadda yadda yadda… he explains how he came to find her there … yadda yadda yadda… she asks him to leave, he says no… we have a lot to talk about.

Estela is in a tizzy in Tomas’s office… she needs his help with this Lupita situation. He wants to know what happened with the money he gave her to offer Lupita, and Estela changes the subject. What’s going on with you and Karina? What does she have that I don’t? (EEEEK, you really want to go there????)

DYO miercoles 4/4

Ignacia visits Ruben mid-snack at the apartment and tells him she wants to meet him at the office tomorrow for a talk. He’s busy. She doesn’t buy it. Oh, and can he make her a sandwich?? She’s starving. Love these two together ☺

Tomas approaches Estela, getting mas-que-yerno close. He accuses her of being jealous. She bolts.

Ruben’s phone is ringing while he’s in the kitchen making a sandwich… he tells her to leave it (and then asks her if she wants mayonnaise or not). She sneaks a peek at the caller ID and, seeing it’s Lupita, writes down her phone number.

Mariano demands Gina tell him if their niño is still alive, as Pedro walks in. “Niño? What niño?”
Fin del capitulo

New drinking game proposals:
Every time Ruben is snacking
Every time someone walks into a clandestine conversation

The pace of the revelations is one thing I really like about this show… my ADHD mind cannot stay interested in these drawn out plots and secrets (CI is really starting to lose me) that go on for months.

Any thoughts on why the “facial reconstruction surgery” on Real Gina was necessary to the plot? Lots of people survive accidents without needing facial reconstruction… Was it because the actress looks so different from the first actress? That’s all I can figure.

CIELOS/TELEMUNDO

Well, tonight Telemundo announced that the new telenovela Santa Diabla will begin Tuesday, August 6. It will presumably be replacing El Señor de los Cielos.

Cielos
They also gave the date of the gran final, which I think was Aug 5

DyO

Thanks, Another Amy, your recap is wonderful! I'm still laughing about "Estela is still basking in the post-mortem glow". And I loved Estela's “I’ll hate her until I die!” and your caution: "The Writers are watching, and there may be zombies just around the corner…"

I think you're right about the facial surgery for Gina. For whatever reason, the writers had to provide an explanation for the script having two very different actresses playing the same woman - well, not the same real woman, but you know.... If you believe the rest of this story, then the two Ginas and their surgery isn't much of a stretch.

MARIDO Wednesday
Part 1

After yesterday’s drama filled episode, today is more of a follow up, gives us a chance to take a breather, but also clap our hands at some of the things our characters say and do.

We start off at the scene of the accident. The ambulance took Antonio to the hospital and Gris thanks Reinaldo for his help, but asks him to go home now, they’ve had enough interactions for a life time. Reinaldo leaves, Gris is not yet willing (or able) to tell K and Amalia what happened during the night. They all go to the hospital, Amalia wants K to drive faster, but he doesn’t want to cause another accident. Gris is calmer now, she says all they can do is pray (don’t worry, Gris, Rafa is praying for all of you, just like Amalia asked him to).

Reinaldo arrives home and Ro informs him that TC had a crisis, went to bed…same old, same old. Reinaldo is pretty shaken up by everything that happened. Pati comes down, asks about Antonio and says she wants to be with him at the hospital. Tomorrow, Reinaldo suggests, it’s late now, let’s go rest.

The next morning everybody and their mother find out about the accident and go to the hospital to be with Gris and family (I didn’t see little K around, though, maybe he was at school?). Gabriel, Paloma, Celeste, Daniel, Vanesa, Olga etc etc… They all offer their support.

Against her mother’s orders (and whining) Pati goes to the hospital, too and when the doctor comes to tell them Antonio will be fine, she is very relieved. Gris asks her if she has a message for Antonio for when she goes to see him, but Pati says no.

Later on she talks with her dad, explains him that it’s difficult to turn off her feelings, but no matter how much it hurts, she’ll have to find a way to forget him (Good girl!) They also talk about her mother and her difficult character, but Reinaldo seems willing to hang in there, not give up on his marriage just because his wife is an eccentric. So I believe she will have to do something truly crazy for him to finally realize she is not just a lovable loon, but a certified criminal.

As Gris goes to see Antonio, Rafa arrives at the hospital and tells Amalia and K that Antonio took the car from the dealer shop without saying a word to anyone. They are both shocked, afraid that Antonio will go from the hospital bed to a jail cell.

That wouldn’t be so bad, after all, because Gris wants Antonio out of the house the moment he gets better.
When he wakes up all he does is blame her for all his bad luck, for ruining everything for him, destroying his pathetic life, which would have been perfect if she hadn’t been his mother. Incredibly hurt by these words, Gris warns him that since he is so ashamed with her and his family, the moment he gets on his feet, he has to leave her house whether he likes it or not.

Back in the hallway, she sobs as Celeste comes to her and asks what is going on. Gris tells her the whole truth about Antonio’s lies, and then she tells Amalia and K what happened, too and about her decision to throw Antonio out of the house.

MARIDO Wednesday
Part 2

Rafa is at the hospital, too, he hears everything. When Gris and family leave the hospital he goes to talk to Antonio, tells him he had to say that he took the car without asking permission, because if not, he’d lose his job. Antonio is scared, he knows he can end up in jail, but Rafa thinks his friend in jail is not as bad as him without a job and manages to convince Antonio to take the blame for stealing the car, by promising he’ll talk to the owner of the car/owner of the dealer shop and convince him not to press charges. Apparently the owner, Ivan, trusts Rafa and will listen to him (we’ll see about that); Antonio accepts this with one condition: that Rafa go talk to Pati, asking her to come visit Antonio.

In the meantime TC is stressing over the situation in her own way, blaming everyone for everything, but mostly Gris and wishing Antonio to die because that would solve things quicker (kind of true).

Somehow she finds out about Esther’s appointment with a fertility doctor and goes to talk to JP about it. But he is smarter than her, because he changes the subject, asking about the Antonio scandal. TC asks him to stay out of her private family matter and JP kindly suggests that she do the same with his personal stuff. Then he practically carries her out of his work place.

Esther is with Dr. Perkins, talking about the possibility of having a baby. She’d asked JP to come with her earlier in the episode, but he denied.

When she leaves the hospital Gris runs into Gabriel, who is so persistent in offering his help, that she finally has to agree to let him give her a ride. Once they get home she wants to be left alone, but then in the house she has a crisis, blaming her husband for leaving her alone and dyeing (you can’t really blame him for this, though), breaking his picture in the process. Gabriel overhears the noise and comes into the house to comfort her (I know he is a good guy, but I find his persistence very annoying).

Rafa gets to Pati’s house and gives her Antonio’s message. She goes to visit him, but she is not all smiles, as Antonio when she gets into his room (what did you think, you idiot?)

In other news, there is some romance brewing between K and Clara, they kind of bump into each other all the time in the taco bar. Also we get to see Clara showering with a bathing suit on again, near the beginning of the episode. And her kid, Leonardo, is a bratty teenager, a little Antonio in training – but probably even worse, because he loves the good life but not the working required to get there.

Please feel free to add the details I forgot, I'm sure there were plenty of things left to be said.

MARIDOS

Merci beaucoup, Adriana. I'm so jealous, thinking of you writing this wonderful recap from Paris. And what a pleasure to have it so early in the morning here in the US.

One "correction": you wrote "don’t worry, Gris, Rafa is praying for all of you...." I love your snark, but I would suggest that a more appropriate spelling would be "preying on" :-) .

Yes, apparently everyone and their mother quickly heard about Antonio's accident. I enjoyed the scene where the doctor came in and asked to speak with Antonio's family, and probably twenty people came forward.

I too was glad to see that Pati intends to forget about Antonio, but I have a feeling that that's not what will happen. Certainly if this were a Univisión telenovela, Antonio would gradually see the light and reform, and he and Pati would live happily ever after. Blech. I'm hoping Telemundo will not give us the same old same old sentimental, moralistic basura, but I'm not too optimistic.

Count me in as another person who finds Gabriel well-meaning but VERY annoying.

DyO
AnotherAmy, reading your recap, late for work, can't say much except thanks!
The first Gina gave the excuse about facial surgery too, to explain why she looked different. Don't see why Gina 2.0 needed to explain looking different than she used to though. I recall watching daytime soaps many years ago, and when they had a change of actresses, there would simply be a voice-over at the beginning of the episode: "The part of Nurse White will now be played by Jane Crump". Too bad they couldn't have done that with Gina, it would have saved several weeks of useless nonsense that distracted from the rest of the plot.

MARIDO

Juanita, haha for the "preying" bit; I prefer your interpretation, it's much more suited for the situation.

Everyone showing up at the hospital is such a tn staple, just like the dinners that start and always end up with at least one characters storming off/ revealing a secret - and we pretty much got that yesterady.

I'm kind of bummed that Antonio will make a full recovery, I would have wished him to hurt his hand or something - for a doctor that is the worst possible punishment...I guess they still plan to turn him into a good guy.
I really like Pati, considering the mother she has she could have turned out to be a cockoo, too.
I do have to wonder about Vanesa, though, this attachement that she has for Reinaldo could become a complication...

I don't live in Paris exactly, but in one of its suburbs. I'm not sipping coffee and eating croissants while I write the recap(wouldn't that be dreamy, though?); most of the time I'm still in bed wearing my pajama, sleepy and laaaazy, trying to block the huge noise coming from a construction site right across the street... NOW you have a better picture of my mornings :)

MARIDO,

Thanks Adriana,

LOL Juanita - preying on :) - very appropriate,

Did I understand correctly that Rafa justified Antonio's taking the blame for "stealing the car" by not giving Amalia too a heartbreak?

Anyways I'm happy with G not forgiving for Antonio just because he's sick, - she said Ok she'll take care of him as long as he recovers but she'll be the first packing his suitcases as soon as the doctor gives the pass.

Can't believe Antonio had the the face to tell her she's to blame.

Marido,

I too love reading your recaps first thing in the morning, Adriana Noel,
you have such a nice way of putting it all together,

Pati is so sweet, just like her dad,

just one question, and I may have gotten this all wrong,
but did the Rafa/Antonio deal include his mom working for Ivan?
(and where is the girl that speaks only russian)

MARIDO

Adriana, thanks for the recaps!! I'm only tuning into this one occasionally but your recaps are keeping me up to date :)

I was sure Antonio was destined for some time in a wheelchair, "he may never walk again," that kind of thing, and we would be subjected to weeks of bitter "me quiero morir" monologues, G and Pati by his side but wary, dosing out tough love until he eventually sees the light and begins turning things around, and then there's the big surgery which miraculously gives him his ability to walk. But I guess Juanita is right... that would be the univision version :)

DYO

J in OR, I agree... that little announcement about the actress switcheroo would have saved us a lot of time and energy!! (and mental anguish).

SANTA DIABLA

Really looking forward to this... love Gaby Espino! Not sure about Aaron, though. His hair is always so high.

Carlos will make a great antagonist, never really liked him as a protagonist.

Anyone else planning to tune in? I'm really tired of the revenge plot, but maybe Gaby will keep me around.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Miércole, Part 1

Bert argues a bit with the kidnappers, but when they say do you want to do this the easy way (por las buenas) or the hard way (por las malas), he and Mati get into the SUV. They’re taken to the jungle, and greeted by the same jungle paramilitary guy who 1) kidnapped Aurelio way back, but ended up dealing with him, and 2) who recently made a deal with Cabo, which Chacorta witnessed, to send triple the supply. When the henchman says this guy claims to be the son of the Lord of the Skies, the kidnappers joke about how much he must be worth. But Bert isn’t fazed. He tells the leader that if the leader doesn’t negotiate, Aurelio will kill them all, but let’s negotiate, it could benefit us both. What’s he offering? Direct access. Why should you guys get paid by Cabo, who then delivers the drugs to us with a big markup? We’ll pay you 50% more than you’re getting, cut out the middleman, ship the drugs directly to us. I can assure you I have the authority of Aurelio Casillas to do this. The leader likes this, agrees, and Bert and Mati are freed! Mati, who was shaking like a leaf, is WAY impressed with Bert. In fact, when they get back to civilization, she wants to celebrate, and that could include sex!

Turco calls Ximena, Aurelio is in the middle of an operation (killing Colmenares), this could be our big chance. Call Doña Alba, see if she’ll let you pick up the kids. If you get them, we can move. Ximena calls her, but Doña Alba doesn’t know if she can convince the guards. Ximena begs her to try to think up some ruse, and Doña Alba will try. Turco later visits Ximena, gives her fake passports for her and the girls, says if you can get the girls, I’ll get you on a plane to Toluca, then to the Bahamas, then to the U.S. with all new identities. He then gets a call (from Irina) and has to go see what that’s about.

Irina just wants to intimidate Turco, and asks him flat out, isn’t it true you’re in love with Ximena? Turco is angry, but as usual, keeps his cool, responding that he’d have to be a fool for that, obviously Aurelio knows what’s going on, and Turco is still there, so that should tell Irina something. What is it, Irina, you’re so in love with Aurelio, that you want to eliminate Ximena, your competition, by seeding some crazy idea that she and I have something going? Let me tell you, that’s been tried before, and didn’t work (he doesn’t mention names, but we know it’s Mónica). Irina isn’t convinced, just says we’ll see how it plays out.

President Cesar meets with Benitez, and they both know Marco met privately with Colmenares. This will not stand! Cesar says, he can’t go behind our backs. They discuss how maybe the President should not have picked Colmenares as his successor, he’s rocking the boat. Benitez agrees to talk to Marco. He later meets with him, asks him point blank, are you going behind our backs, illegally, and working with Colmenares? Marco doesn’t answer directly, just saying should we continue to allow drugs and corruption to ruin this country? Benitez reminds Marco that Marco is just an employee, and must follow orders. Marco has also been trying to get Leo to open up about her nightmares, but she can’t, and asks him if he’s looking for a substitute for Eugenia. What will it take for these two to get over their issues? (if they ever can).

CIELOS, Part 2

Back to Cabo in the room upstairs, with the gun, Aurelio saying we have a mission and I want you on it. Cabo turns around slowly, hiding the gun behind his back, saying you trust me now, but how come I overheard you telling Chacorta you didn’t need me, were getting other suppliers, huh? Ahah, says Aurelio, you’re accusing me of betrayal! Well, you know what happens to betrayers, right? So, are you gonna kill me? Do you possibly have a gun behind your back right now? Chacorta and a few guards come upstairs, Aurelio jokingly says Cabo thinks I betrayed him, should we let him kill me? Cabo assesses the situation, no Aurelio, everything’s cool, and slowly brings out the gun he had behind his back. Aurelio then says you’d have had problems anyway, without the bullets! (He has the cartridge, Cabo realizes his gun is empty). Aurelio gives the bullets to Cabo, tells Chacorta that Cabo always knows when to back off.

Ramiro has gotten not only Colmenares’ schedule, but all access points and guard assignments at San Luis Potosí, and gives this info to Irina to give to Aurelio (he sends Chacorta to pick it up). And guess who they’ve gotten to do the hit? Some nobody, the most fanatic member of a nationalist group that just happens to hate Colmenares. We see the campaign speech site being set up, lots of banners, posters. Aurelio, Chacorta and Cabo, along with the guards, arrive, and nobody seems to notice them (Chacorta is wearing a disguise). They position themselves in strategic locations, Cabo is up high, he’s just going to watch, isn’t too happy about all this. The nobody, whose name is Basurto, comes up, and Aurelio gives him a gun, you know what to do. Yes sir, I’m ready, he says.

While all this has been going on, Tijeras and Triste are getting antsy, want to rescue Cabo. They’ve got some spies, and find out that Cabo has left the safe house with Aurelio, is still alive. Triste has gathered a bunch of henchmen, and Tijeras gives them the picture of Cabo, this is the guy we want to save. Tijeras tells Triste that Cabo can take care of himself in a fight, the henchmen just have to cause the diversion, get the fight going. They leave with Triste to attack, Tijeras stays behind since he’s supposed to be dead. We earlier saw Randy having sex with the woman who is going to give that DNA report, telling Turco he was on top of the situation.

Topo is also mad, he wanted to kill Aurelio, doesn’t like Cabo, wants to move in, now, but Turco tells him by phone to wait just a little longer, things are in the works.

At the campaign rally, Colmenares has very little security, gives a rousing speech about change, about hope. The crowd loves him. Afterwards, he wades into the crowd. Basurto moves in, shoots him in the head! Basurto is immediately taken into custody, Colmenares is hustled to a car to go to the hospital, no one sees Chacorta pump a second shot into him, making sure of the kill. Walking down from their observation point, Aurelio almost walks down the steps in front of Cabo, thinks about it, makes Cabo go first (damn!) Later, the entire country is in shock, the government guys say that the killer said he acted alone, but Marco doesn’t believe it, asking Benitez, did the government itself eliminate candidate Colmenares?!!!!!

SANTA DIABLA

I'll be watching, too, at least at the beginning.
I love Carlos Ponce, but I'm not sure about Aaron Diaz, either.

We'll know soon enough...

SANTA DIABLA:

I'll watch, and I may recap a few nights, such as Tuesday and Wednesday, but not every night.

DyO

thanks AnotherAmy,
you write such terrific recaps,

kind of odd seeing AA getting comfortable at Mariano's place (under his watchful eye), only to find her back at Tomas',

and to see Berta's gruesome death scene on tv, but no explanation is ever given,

actually I think I prefer the original Gina, early on, (not so much the new one), she was much more passionate, and I didn't mind the switch, it sort of adds an element of uncertainty to the story, (you just never know what is going to happen),

it's nice that FINALLY, Pedro gets around to letting Ignacia know that it's Lupita that is pregnant, even though it went via Gina, but I'm not quite sure if Ignacia gets that Mireya is NOT pregnant,

and it's nice that the new Gina is checking up on her investment, as I'm sure this job is overbudget and behind schedule, the way people come and go,

and yes, what's with Ruben, always with his jacket on, always ready to bolt, and with a handful of food, interesting that Ignacia is carefully choosing her places of confronting others, (like she did with Tomas by having a dinner party), and now with Ruben, at her office the next morning, and I'm curious as to what she will have to say.

MARIDO:

Thanks for the recap, Adriana!

One other threat that JP used to get rid of TC (when she was meddling about the fertility thing) was that he said Tia Iris called again. That got rid of TC pretty quickly.

I really like Clara (could the shower scene have influenced me?) and hope either K or Gabriel notices her. Gabriel also showed K some magazine with his ex-wife and her new boyfriend, who may be a boxer or fighter of some kind, on the cover.

It's really disgusting how Rafa uses Antonio (although I guess Antonio uses Rafa, too). I really hope that the other employees at the shop, Susana and Eduardo, find some way to unmask Raf.

Cielos,

thanks Hombre,

there seems to be a large black cloud moving in over our story,

CIELOS

Many thanks, Hombre. As always, your recaps help me see so much that I missed. I'm most grateful.

I agree with deb about the large black cloud. I'm finding it increasingly hard to watch scenes with Ximena and/or Turco.

SANTA DIABLA

I was hoping to be done with 10 p.m. novelas, but I think I'll give this a try.

DyO

Thanks AnotherAmy! "mas-que- yerno" closeness, ick. When Estela asked what did Karina have that she didn't have, I was like, she didn't say that? Then, she repeated it!

Mireya, LOL when she was talking to herself after the construction site visit "no hay lunch, no hay hijo" so she had to come up with a new Pedro plan. Is the Corpus Christi tia move intended to get a rise out of Pedro?

MARIDO

Barely following this [although I developed a crush on Antonio [Gabriel Coronel] in Relaciones Pelagrosas].

Thanks a lot AdrianaNoel for recaps keeping me up to date.

Since you guys are talking about a Uni version, a recently-completed Uni TN, Corona de Lagrimas with Victoria Ruffo, had this basic plot. Single mom, and her son, a law student, denied her to marry for social and career advantage. Ultimately, he claimed Vicki was his nanny growing up, and she went along with it to be able to maintain a relationship with him. The son paid for denying his mother when his life becoming a living hell. His wife turned out to have major mental health issues and his cruel father in law forced him into crime and shady business dealings. Long story short, Uni version, 100 episodes later, he DID see the light and returned penniless to original family.

Clara [not in the shower]

Marido:

But in Televisa's Teresa she remained a social climbing ingrate till the bitter end. Tony might be the same.

MARIDO

Yeah, Teresa didn't change until the very last moment (oh, when Sebastian Rulli came for her and helped her up from the floor...I could watch that scene over and over again).
And there was also Rubi, who never reconsidered her actions...

So, there are plenty of examples to go around. I do hope Antonio changes, though, he has such pretty eyes... (yeah, that's my argument and I'm sticking to it!)

DyO
Okay, is Mireya going to Corpus so she can come back in 8 months with "her" baby? Is she going to go all psycho and try to kidnap Lupe's baby?
Are Mireya and Pedro...you know, "doing it"? If not, what is the point of her prancing around for Pedro with the top of her dress falling off? Come to think of it, has Tomas gotten his wedding night yet? Or is Ignacia still holding out until they settle the whole work-and-baby thing? And of course I'm still wondering what really happened that night that Pedro and Ignacia spent together.
Guess subtlety is lost on me---I need someone to draw me a picture!
J in Oregon

DyO

good point J in Oregon, about Mireya leaving to have the baby, that would work for everyone, their faces wouldn't have to hit the floor every time that lie came up,

but I was thinking Mireya told Margarita (her biggest and maybe only supporter) that, was to get her to up the game and rally the rest around her, I mean Margarita isn't going to let her only granddaughter go walking out the door, and Mireya doesn't really need Pedro to love her, just close enough so she can grab him.

CIELOS

Thanks so much, Hombre. Well, my slim hope that Beto's kidnapping would derail the assassination of Colmenares died last night. What a horrible event.

I was a bit confused. At the Colmenares event Chacorta had a fake moustache and AC kept calling him Cabo. And then some ID badge was dropped. It looked like Chacorta, but I was wondering if they were trying to frame Cabo?

How many more episodes will Cabo survive? The tension is amazing.

I noticed that Tijeras' amusing personality is even cheering up Triste. He's smiled twice this week! A record!

Now didn't whatever Irina did insofar as getting the badges to Aurelio mean she's involved in an assassination plot? I certainly hope she ends up behind bars!

Turco's plot is a bit thin. And Alba is right. She's not going to easily be able to leave the safe house with those girls without one of the thugs calling AC.

I guess this is Mexican Realpolitik, but it was disappointing when President Silva and Benitez are basically interested in covering up Ramiro's AND (I think) the other government guys' narco dealings.

Leo should really not have been undercover if her reaction is to blame herself for what she did and consider herself unworthy of love.

MARIDO

I wish Gris hadn't ripped up her husband's picture. I found it amusing when she would speak to it.

Para la Sra. Esther Salas de Palmer: Today is the 35th birthday of Louise Brown, the world's first "test tube baby." IVF has come a long way since then. I've been listening to a series about IVF on the BBC World Service while I'm driving to work. It's fascinating what they can do now.

Kudos to Reinaldo for telling Ro to knock it off with the "bigotuda" comments. Of course that puts an end to one of our drinking games but I'm sure something else will pop up in its place.

MARIDO EN ALQUILER

Thanks so much, AdrianaNoel. Great job on the recap.

I was cracking up at the Univisión versions of this TN. I watched a lot of them before I permanently jumped ship to Telemundo several years ago. So they must have imprinted me to the extent that I was expecting a blind and bitter Antonio. Or a paralyzed Antonio.

Nah, he's the same entitled brat he was before the accident. I was surprised he even considered going along with Rafa's plan of saying he took the car unauthorized.

And, yes, Rafa did say that Griselda had done repair work at both the moto shop and Ivan's house. And, like everyone, Ivan loves Griselda. This produced an ironic response from her son.

I certainly hope Pati is NOT going to cave in to whatever BS Antonio comes up with tonight to excuse his behavior toward his mother.

Count me in as annoyed with Gabriel. I really HATE TN plots where some guy who is never going to get the woman just keeps trying and trying ad nauseum. Griselda told him it was never going to happen, but he keeps trying out that kicked puppy look on her. Gah!

Teresa Cristina is rapidly driving her husband away from her. Continuing to over and over say Griselda was in on the engaño is driving him nuts, not to mention wishing Antonio had died!

CIELOS:

Novelera, I didn't see what was happening with the ID badges. I just thought they had fake names, and Basurto took his off before he shot Colmenares. And I just thought Chacorta was wearing a mustache as a disguise. But you could well be right, and if so, wow! Maybe we'll find out tonight.

MARIDO:
Now that I’m finally back to a computer (and not my phone) I can properly thank you Adriana for another wonderful recap. I’m glad you get comfy in your jammies before writing these up for us. :)

I loved Gris telling Antonio off in the hospital. The little snot deserves it. It was a great speech about the kind of son/brother/uncle his family deserves, after he said he deserves a better mother.

I hope all of his friends and family end up shunning him eventually. That’s what happened in “Teresa”, and at the end, only her husband ended up giving her another chance. And I don’t think she really repented. She was just feeling sorry for herself and alone. I too hope that Antonio DOES end up redeemed and wins back the trust and admiration of his family.

Apparently, Rafa thinks he can sweet talk his boss into not bringing charges against Antonio, using his boss’ admiration for Gris as a bargaining chip. I don’t care how much he likes the lady who fixes things for him. She can’t fix his expensive car, and I’m sure his insurance company is going to want a proper investigation. We’ll see, I guess.

Are the Clara bathing scenes meant to keep the male audience’s attention, since this tn lacks a parade of flesh? Seems to be working on Hombre.

MARIDO:

I really enjoyed the talk between Pati and Reinaldo. It's very telling that she brushed her clingy mom off, saying she wanted to be alone, and then went straight the restaurant to speak with her dad. I like that he didn't make any judgements-- just listened. If later she came back and said she wants to get back together with Antonio, you can tell that he wouldn't object. He would trust her to make the decision that's right for her.

TELEMUNDO vs UNIVISION (TELEVISA):

I watch the tns on both channels, and honestly I have seen equally bad tns on both, and equally good tns on both, with the same frequency. They have different styles, which isn’t surprising given that they are mostly produced in different countries (US vs Mexico), but I wouldn’t say one is all good and one is all bad. I find what makes the biggest difference is the producer and the writing team s/he chooses to work with. Both networks must be doing something right, because they both have rapidly growing audiences. I know they keep ME entertained each evening.

CIELOS

Thanks, Hombre, for your great recap. This story gets more and more disturbing, so thank you for staying with it.

I was surprised that the usually cool as a cucumber Irina played her hand the way she did with Turco. She didn't look pleased when he left the gallery, and she knows that, IF he's not involved with Ximena, Turco could make trouble for her. So she's going to continue to plant her seeds of betrayal with AC. That black cloud is circling Turco's head

AC isn't waiting to get DNA results to decide Cabo's fate - Mati's Colombian connection trumps "Tijeras' dead body".

Beto and Mati's celebration (and prior) sex is now public knowledge. This can't be good for Mati as AC will protect Beto and blame Mati.

Beth

CIELOS:

Thanks so much Hombre! Nino might just find a way to make up for that last time he screwed up by exposing the fact that Beto and Mati are screwing.

The tension is mounting. I had to laugh when AC and Cabo did their little "after you" dance at the top of the stairs. Cabo is going to have to be really quick on his feet to get out of this alive.

MARIDO

Great recap, Adriana. So many highs and lows with TC's hysteria, Gris' grief, Pati's sadness, KiKi's rage - thank you!

I'm hoping Antonio gets jail time, but I'm afraid that Gris will somehow be conned into paying for part of that car so that Antonio has no police record and can become a doctor.

Interesting condo between Pati and Reinaldo when she thanked him for staying with TC even though she's so disturbed.

Clara's showering outdoors in her bathing suit reminds me of the times as kids living near the beach when we showered outside (using soap and shampoo) so we wouldn't track sand and dirt into the house. These were showers like Clara's. Maybe she doesn't have one in the house.

Beth

MARIDO

"interesting c-o-n-v-o between Pati and Reinaldo"… damned word processor!

Beth

DyO
Thanks so much AnotherAmy! I haven't been able to watch the last two episodes, but your recaps are detailed enough that I am sure I can just pick watch tonight's episode and I'll be fine.

...my ADHD mind cannot stay interested in these drawn out plots and secrets (CI is really starting to lose me) that go on for months.

THIS THIS THIS!!! That is exactly why I like this show so much, despite the schlock.

SANTA DIABLA
I plan on tuning in!

DYO jueves, part 1/3

So glad I have a kindred ADHD spirit, Sara C!

Here's tonight's play by play...

Upon interrupting the conversation between Mariano and Gina, Pedro and Mar recognize each other from their encounter at Iggy’s apartment before her wedding. Pedro wants to know how they know each other and what niño they’re talking about.

Margarita is not going to stand for Mireya going to Corpus Christi. Mireya is on the brink of confessing the faux embarazo…

Gina says she knows Mariano from England (what a CA-RAZY coincidence…)

Mireya tells Marge that she and Pedro have had a fight, and he’s mad at her. Marge marches out to clear things up, and walks into casa Perez as Gina is trying to forcibly escort Mariano to his car. Dramatic music, Margarita is surprised to see Mariano.

Ruben and Iggy are snacking on sandwiches (DRINK) in the apartment, and Ignacia notices that PapaMar has taken up painting. Ruben thinks it’s great because he just paints all day and doesn’t bother him; actually, Ruben is starting to think Papito is kind of a good guy. No way, Ignacia isn’t falling for it. He abandoned his children, and there is no excuse for that. Ignacia takes a big bite of her Ruben-crafted sandwich, and there’s not a Subway wrapper or paper cup in sight. It seems Subway and Telemundo have broken up, or at least in a trial separation.

Margarita drags Pedro to the kitchen, Gina drags Mariano outside. Pedro thinks this Tia Gina has secrets too, she’s acting weird. Gina’s weird behavior has also caused Mariano to be suspicious… is Pedro their son??? She denies it, and says their son is living in Europe. He wants an address and telephone number. She says he’s crazy, and he should never come back here again. I’m missing Old Gina (pre-pscyho version). This one is not nearly as fun.

JM goes to see Estela at the casa de locura and wants to know what happened between Karina and Tomas in the kitchen the night of the dinner-with-no-food.

Margarita interrogates Pedro about his fight with Mireya, but he’s not spilling. Lupita enters, wanting to know what all the fighting is about. Marge is insistent that he make up with Mireya, and stomps out. Pedro tells Lupita this is all her fault, she’s the reason he fought with Mireya. Ugh.

Estela denies that anything happened between Tomas and Karina, and how dare he accuse Tomas of cheating on Ignacia! JM admits that he really likes Karina (BAAARF) and there’s no one to ask about her. Estela rants some more and leaves. AA takes him aside and advises him to talk to her first next time, so she can tell him what to say and how to say it to Estela… rolling her eyes and making the international gesture for CRAZY.

Mireya is talking with Tia Chole From Corpus Christi on the phone… she will let her know when she has the pasajes (plural… hmmm), and please don’t say anything to papa… it’s all part of the plan! Oleg enters looking for something to eat. Even though Doña Marge has invited them for dinner, he doesn’t want to run into Gina.

DYO jueves, part 2/3

Neto skips into casa de Perez for dinner, announcing he’s going out with “Mary” and wants to celebrate with tequila. Mireya rolls in during this part of the conversation, and looks a little stunned at Neto’s announcement.

Iggy calls Lupita and wants to meet with her in her office tomorrow. (which interestingly coincides with her meeting with Ruben… Parent-Trap anyone?)

Mireya is very happy for Neto, she says, and he should be able to get something out of it pretty quickly since “el tal Mary” is easier than the 0 times tables (“mas facil que la table del cero”—did I translate that right?). Neto laughs, and Pedro comes in wanting to know what the laughing is about. Marge says they’re celebrating Neto’s noviazgo, Neto says it’s not a noviazgo yet… they’re just going out. Pedro congratulates Neto and makes a comment about Mary being “la carreta” (the cart? Don’t know how this euphemism translates). Apparently Mary has quite the rep. Pedro and Mireya are icy to each other.

Gina tells Marge that Mariano knows their son is alive, and he suspects it’s Pedro. She says she denied it, but she doesn’t think he believed her.

Estela asks Abue if her bags are packed, and in true AA fashion she quips “What, are we going on vacation? I hope it’s a cruise to the Greek Islands, I really need to get some sun.” Then she informs Estela there’s no way she’s going to that retirement home. But yes, her bags are packed and she doesn’t intend to stay one more night in this house.

Mariano interrupts Ruben’s snack (DRINK) to ask him what he knows about Pedro. Ruben tells him he works at the obra. Mariano wants the address. (New drinking game… every time someone asks for an address).

Lots of gratuitous strip club shots, and then we finally get introduced to stripper Zafiro when her stripper friend tells her that her “star client” is waiting for her in private. She dons a blonde wig, and asks her client how he wants to punish Ignacia tonight. Ewwwwwww. Star-client Tomas grins and flashes a wad of bills. Bleckbleckbleckbleckbleck!!!!!!!

Lupita shows up at Iggy’s office for some girl-talk. Iggy wants to help her with her pregnancy and thinks Ruben should assume responsibility for his part, but Lupita doesn’t want to raise her child with him. Ruben shows up, and gets verbally abusive… you think I want to raise a kid with a naca like YOU? I’m not going to change my life just because she didn’t know to “be careful.” Ignacia is shocked at his behavior, and scolds him. Lupita bites back, and then runs out. Ruben looks unaffected.

DYO jueves, part 3/3

Neto brings Mary to Oleg’s house to introduce her. He wants to hang out there until Pedro comes by to get Oleg for work. Mireya looks uncomfortable, and eventually throws them all out saying she’s got stuff to do. She wonders why she’s feeling weird about Neto and Mary.

Estela is impactada when Mariano shows up to pick up AA and take her to live with him. Now it’s just suegra, hija, y yerno in the house of horrors. AWK. WAAAAARD.

Karina visits Tomas at the office. He wants her to spy on Ignacia and report to him. She is apparently growing a conscience and doesn’t want to do it. He tells her if she wants to be with him, this is the price. Skeezy smooching.

Lupita cries in her kitchen. Ruben is apparently not as unaffected as we thought, as he bursts into the apartment and begins tearing it apart, starting with (NO!) the books!! Mariano and Abue arrive and survey the damage (AA exclaiming that if this is how they live, she’s moving into the asylum ☺ ). Mariano demands to know what happened, Ruben tells him to mind his own business and storms out (the snack drawer is the OTHER way Ruben).

Lupita goes to see Estela at the “Three’s Company” house (“come and knock on my doooooor, I’ve been waiting for yoooooooou”) and takes her up on her hush money.

Iggy tells Pedro she knows about Lupita’s and Ruben’s baby-to-be, and she wants to help, especially since he and Mireya will be busy with their own baby soon. Pedro admits Mireya’s embarazo is a lie, and Iggy can’t hold back her smile. This changes things, she says. But not enough, he says. You’re still married.

Zafiro is coaching stripper #2 (her name is BARBIE) on her pole dancing (oh good grief). Boss man comments on how quickly Barbie is learning. Zafiro cautions Barbie… he’s got his eye on you. You sure you want to work here? This storyline may well be my first FF.

Lupita wants Mireya’s help in opening account to put Estela’s check in (is it $50,000? It was really hard to read). She’s happy that now she finally has what she deserves for being treated so badly. Now know one will be able to step on her, they will respect her. Mireya is impactadeya.

Iggy chases Pedro to the locker room. She knows she shouldn’t be getting all personal during working hours… can they meet later? SAY YES PEDRO SAY YES “I don’t think that’s such a good idea…” SON OF A! She is apologetic immediately, and then Pedro brings up the fact that her father and his aunt know each other… they met in England… it’s like our families knew each other before we met… mundo chiquito, eh?

Fin del capitulo.

Marido,

I guess Gabriel Coronel (Antonio) sings the song "Desnudo" in "Marido en Alquiler",
(there is that video they show of him and Patricia when they play it)

"Desnudo" is the first single of his first album, and can be found at itunes,

MARIDO Thursday

A brief rundown of the show, I was only half watching because I woke up late and had to attend to life stuff

- Pati makes it clear to Antonio that she will never forgive his lie; she is not only hurt because he made up his mother, but apparently, he also lied about an entire existence that he never had - trips to Disneyland, a dotting nanny, etc... so basically, their entire relationship was built on lies upon lies upon other lies, so she doesn't want to see him ever again.
- Antonio still doesn't seem to get it, though, he tries to explain that he only did what he did because TC is so much better then Gris - but Pati doesn't like this at all, because she knows very well that her mom is no example;
- at home Pati tells TC that she will forget Antonio, no matter what it takes and, for once, TC is offering some comfort to her daughter

- Rafa explains to Antonio that he didn't manage to convince Ivan to drop the charges agains him, even if he did mention Gris to his boss; so Antonio does the unthinkable, asks Rafa to talk to his mom and convince her to interfere for him!! The nerve on this boy!

- TC goes about her day as usual, obsessing over Pati and her relationship with Antonio, going to Reinaldo's work to tell him about the tragedy of Pati visiting Antonio in the hospital; but he's had it with her shenanigans, he silences her with a kiss;
- later on, at home, he remembers the kiss and the moment he shared with Gris at the restaurant the night of the blackout - he is still committed to his marriage, but his mind is starting to wander

- Esther finds out that her eggs are no longer fertile, so the only way she could have a baby (apparently her uterus is fine) is to use another woman's eggs
- she doesn't want this, though, when she gets home she talks to JP about the irony of not accepting his decision to have another man impregnate her when here she is, facing the same problem - she is completely inconsolable, but me thinks she shoudl have thought about babies a long time ago
- why don't they just adopt? maybe they need some more time to get there? not that JP seems to willing to have a baby, though

- Gabriel is hovering all over Gris as usual, and she pushes him away, again...will he ever get it?

- K talks to Clara about not being interested in women anymore and this is just the turn on she needs to jump on him - he is surprised at first, but have you ever seen a man turn down a hot smooch in a taco bar pantry? No, me neither. They put an end to it before it gets to intimate, but they are both left wanting for more

- Rafa, K and Amalia ask Gris to talk to Ivan to convince him to drop the charges against Antonio; but Gris doesn't hurry to do this, she decides to sleep on it; the next day she does talk to him but before she can ask for forgiveness for Antonio, he says he'll do it for her and not to ruin Antonio's future
- BUT NO, Gris doesn't want this, she didn't raise no thief, she wants Antonio to be punished!

What do you think about Gris? Since this is a tn I can only cheer her, but in real life woudld a mother want to see her child in jail (no matter how bad he is)?

DyO
More great work, AnotherAmy!! I am really hoping I can catch up with my watching soon.

I'm still sticking with CI despite its pacing because Ana Brenda and her dresses are so darn pretty!

Thanks so much Adriana,

I watched it in the morning, and was as shocked as Ivan at Gris's resposne.
Why she even bothered to go talk to him then?

First I was surprised that how easily Ivan told her that because of her he'll withdraw the complaint, then my chin hit the floor at Gris's answer.
Not that Antonio doesn't deserve the punishment, I want him punished and suffer but not neccesarily carcel time, I was thinking Gris going to ask Ivan to forget about the carcel and find a way for Antonio to work off the damage in some way or other, I definitely don't want Gris paying for it!

Maybe we should also have a drink every time Gris tells Gabriel that she only wants him as a friend.

Gabriel is a nice guy I don't want him to turn into a Colosso from QBA

DyO,

Thanks AnotherAmy, love your funny recaps.
loved - “Three’s Company” house - LOL, and my favourite "begins tearing it apart, starting with (NO!) the books!"

What's with the eating in this TN? Almost every time I see Rueben he's munching on something.
Never knew Telemundo was having an affair with Subway. :)

Aube is the best, love her snarky remarks.
Tomás in the strip joint was euwwww, RUN Ignacia RUN!!

Finally Pedro told Ignacia the truth about the baby, will these two get together in this millenia?

MARIDO EN ALQUILER

So Grizzy fires the torpedo that finally sinks Antonios ship.

Was hoping he would turn a new leaf after the wreck but i guess that would be too fast.

As far as Grizzy wanting Antonio in jail she may be using reverse manipulation (saying she wants Antonio in jail in an attempt to get Ivan to reconsider) or not. Who knows?

Hope Clara doesnt get cooked like she did in the last 2 novelas she was in!

SANTA DIABLA

I read that Ximena Duque was supposed to play the main villianess but the promos are showing Wanda D'isidoro instead. Will be better to watch than that s##t role thay gave her in ERDLV. (She and Ximena kind of resemble each other)

AnotherAmy i agree with what you had to say about Carlos Ponce. Will be great to see him as a villain.

MARIDO MUSIC

Deb, thanks for the info on that song! It was on my list of tn songs to look up... love it!

I also really liked Sharlene Taule's song "Vives en mi" from Pasion Prohibida (Camila and Yair's song) and downloaded it not too long ago.

DyO

great recap AnotherAmy!
you capture everything so well,

it's nice this story moves along so fast,
wow, that's a nice sandwich Ruben made for Ignacia,
but the food must be left over from who ever lived there before,

thanks for spelling out those comments about Mary,
if she starts wearing hoodies we will know she is smitten,
or better yet, if she says something,

what is it with novela's always having a girly club,
but I have to say that one girl doing the high flying pole work,
was fascinating to watch, so graceful,
not what I would expect in a drunk and disorderly place,
so Tomas must stop by to spank 'Ignacia' after they argue,

wow, Ignacia got "both barrels" from Ruben, meant for Lupita,
I think she really got what Lupita is up against,

so now what is Lupita up to,
(I couldn't make out the check either)
does this mean she will have to leave town,
I don't think she has lasted 5 minutes without calling/seeing Ruben,
to let him know it's over,
I was so worried Estela was going to have Lupita come upSTAIRS to get the money,

Ignacia was almost glowing when she found out Mireya was not pregnant,
ok, so now it's unanimous, everyone knows but Margarita,
who already has the cradle ready,

this reminds me of the old who-dunnit movies where the only way to resolve anything is to get everyone into the same room.

MARIDO

Thank you, Another Amy, for another great recap. I love your question at the very end.

While I'd really enjoy seeing Antonio in an orange jump suit, I'm not so sure Gris wants his punishment to go that far. I think Gris wants some sort of forced restitution that Antonio can't wiggle out of. Gris believes in "tough love", and I think she'll make a deal with Ivan. What Gris wants for Antonio is for him to become an honest, caring and responsible man - qualities he might not develop in prison.

Good for Pati! She stuck to her beliefs and didn't let Antonio manipulate her. She deserves someone so much better than him.

Beth

MARIDO

So sorry - I meant thank you to Adriana for the great recap! Amy does DyO - I knew that…

Beth

Marido,

another wonderful recap Adriana Noel!

so funny, Reinaldo pulls TC into the cooler to discuss her 'emergency', brrrr,
but left her fanning herself after that kiss,
and later trying to snuggle as Reinaldo seems to have chilled,

talk about kissing, Kiki and Clara, whoa, so hot,
no wonder Clara takes those outdoor cold showers,
it's tough being a single parent,

is Rafa really the bad guy, ,
after all it was Antonio's scheming that got him the car,
and it was Antonio who wrecked it,
and now we have Amalia wanting to kiss, as Rafa pulls away,
pondering Antonio's situation,

I think Antonio loves Patricia,
who wouldn't,

I don't think Griselda wants Antonio to go to jail, maybe some other kind of punishment,
as irisz79 and Beth were saying as well,
.......................................

thanks for explaining Esthers fertility problems, lot's of new words for me,
here are some things I found on that,

"According to a report in the journal Human Reproduction, a woman's fertility starts to decline at age 27, although this isn't clinically significant. Most women of this age can still get pregnant, of course, but it might take a few more months of trying. But by the time a woman reaches 35, her chances of getting pregnant during any particular attempt are about half of what they were between the ages of 19 and 26."

By the time the average woman reaches her early forties, half of her eggs are no longer viable."

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Jueves, Part 1

With only about eight episodes left, each show is packed with excitement! We begin with Mati and Bert back at Mati’s aunt’s house in Cali, Colombia, ready to “celebrate”. Unknown to them, Niño is eavesdropping, and sees them kiss. He may also have heard Mati say let’s do it, just this one last time. Off they go to the bedroom.

Benitez answers Marco’s question, of COURSE not, the government had nothing to do with the murder of Colmenares. Marco points out that it certainly removes lots of problems for them, but Colmenares cautions him to stop this wild speculation. Later, Leo listens to Marco’s theory, and knows it’s possible, but doesn’t think it’s wise to tout it so loudly. Marco reminds her that once he gets an idea in his head, it’s not going away. She’s also making some progress on getting info on Turco’s American contacts, possibly from California. She wants to get some air, he says for both of our sakes, since we’re both in danger, we should stick together. So they go to her apartment. She then makes him sleep downstairs on the couch. Ouch!

Back at the safe house after the hit, there’s still tons of tension between Aurelio and Chacorta on the one hand, and Cabo on the other. Chacorta says let’s just get this over with and kill the guy, okay? Aurelio says sure, bro’, just take him outside and don’t make a mess. This looks bad for Cabo, who’s grabbed by some guards, and is just about to be whacked when Turco shows up, waving an envelope. Aurelio, wait, we got the results of the DNA test, and it WAS Tijeras! So Cabo was telling the truth! Cabo is dumbfounded, exchanges a look with Turco, tells Aurelio you see, I’m loyal, always have been. Chacorta wants to kill him anyway. Aurelio thinks for a second, says no, Cabo lives. So, Cabo, we’re back in business. Do you want to go back to Colombia right now? Cabo knows this would look suspicious, so he says, nah, I’ll hang out here for a while. But can I have my “piece” back (he uses the word jugeto, or toy)? Sure, Aurelio has a guard give Cabo his gun back, and Cabo goes to the other room.

Chacorta pulls Aurelio aside, man, what’s wrong with you, we should have killed him! Aurelio says don’t you EVER question my orders again, any problems? Chacorta backs down, but later, tells his Mom Alba that Aurelio has plucked his last nerve, is really acting crazy, and if he does it one more time, Chacorta won’t back him up. Whoa! Doña Alba just sort of stands there, looking straight ahead, her world is gradually crumbling. She also hasn’t been able to think of any way to get the kids to Ximena.

Turco meets with Cabo upstairs, tells him you know the results really showed it was NOT Tijeras, right? Cabo doesn’t want to say anything. Look, Cabo, says Turco, you’re not the only one who wants to go against Aurelio. There’s Topo, and a contact in America, and you know that contact named the Trojan? He’s standing here talking to you right now! Cabo is shocked. But he still wants to kill Aurelio. No, says Turco, you and me against 10-15 guards? Forget it. Don’t worry, we have plans. But you need to get OUT of here, now! Cabo sees this logic, and the next morning, he does tell Aurelio he’s leaving to line up that supply in Colombia. Cabo thinks Aurelio has two suppliers, not knowing both of them are using that same jungle guy. Aurelio also sends Chacorta back to Colombia to deliver money to pay for the drugs Bert has lined up.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 2

It’s gonna be a long night, with lots of sex. Aurelio goes to Irina’s, and spends the whole night there. When he makes the date over the phone, Doña Alba can hear half of the conversation, and is mortified at Aurelio’s audacity, since Aurelio says “Mi Reina”, she knows it’s a woman. Before Aurelio leaves, Turco asks him if Doña Alba can take the girls to visit Ximena, they miss their Mom. Aurelio says he’ll think about it. At Irina’s, they celebrate the killing of Colmenares. Irina brings up Turco. Aurelio, thinking about Turco’s request about the kids, says he’s just doing unimportant, trivial stuff (babosas). But Irina says for a man like that, NOTHING is trivial stuff.

The other all night sex was Mati and Bert. They had so much fun, Mati wants to do it again, even though before, she said it was the last time. But here comes Chacorta, arriving in the morning! Bert jumps into the closet, just in time. Mati greets Chacorta with a smile, and they proceed to have sex with Bert fuming in the closet, watching. After, when he asks where is Bert, she says, oh, he’s just hiding in the closet! Chacorta, a little slow on the uptake, actually walks over to the closet, until Mati yells, gotcha! Mati acts like it was a joke, and Chacorta laughs. Chacorta has a surprise for her, and they go outside. Bert rushes out and gets dressed. The surprise is a whole table full of money, to buy the drugs. Mati is happy, and when Bert comes out, she says to Chacorta, I have a surprise for YOU, honey. I’m pregnant, you’re gonna be a Daddy! Chacorta is overjoyed, Bert not so much. He later angrily questions Mati, who says well, you wanted me to keep it, and congratulations on YOUR baby! He goes, well we definitely can’t have sex again. Don’t be too sure, she says playfully.

Tijeras has had four babes brought to the Robles house for HIS night of sex, and wants Triste to join in the fun, but Triste is too focused on Cabo and business. Tijeras likes this. I think we also have a scene where Topo tells Pollo that Triste could be good working with THEM. In the morning, Cabo shows up, having finally gotten away from Aurelio. Topo and he talk on the phone, Topo says sarcastically, great job killing Aurelio. These two still hate each other, but they both want Aurelio dead, so I’m okay with that.

At the police headquarters, it turns out the campaign badges WERE important, as the cops found the one from Basurto, but they also found another one, and despite the mustache, Marco and the others instantly recognize it as Victor Casillas (Chacorta)! So this WAS a druglord hit, says Benitez. That puts a whole new slant on the operation.

Turco calls Aurelio, have you thought about letting the kids visit Ximena? Aurelio remembers Irina’s warning about Turco having ulterior motives, and cagily says, fine, they can visit. Turco says he’ll take the kids himself. Aurelio tells a guard to go with them. Turco calls Ximena, pack your bags, we’re coming. He gathers the kids, tells them they’re visiting Mommy, and gets them to the hotel. In the hotel, he tells them to hurry, they go upstairs to the roof. A helicopter will pick them up. But where is it? A voice comes from behind them. There won’t be any helicopter, my Turco. It’s Aurelio, who followed them here to the hotel, and has caught Turco with Ximena and the kids, all packed up and ready to go, RED HANDED! Nooooooo!!!!!

MARIDO

Deb, you said 27?? Whoa, that sounds like such a young age! I better get moving then, I'm already two years late...:)

CIELOS

So does tonight mark the end for Turco. If so, I sure hate that. I was really hoping for Turco & his new allies to eliminate AC

-VRO

DYO

Another Amy, thank you for your excellent recap. You keep me coming back!

So glad that Iggy finally knows the truth about the pregnancy.

Tomas and Karin - euww!

Ruben is such a jerk - I hope the TN gods have something rotten in store for him.

Beth

Marido,

haha Adriana,

but I didn't say 27, the internet did,
to me birth is a miracle and could happen at any time, or not,

(btw, there was the mention of freezing eggs for later on, for the more scientifically minded)

CIELOS

Thanks, Hombre. Great recap of another tense and dark episode.

I have this terrible feeling about Turco and the long drop off that hotel roof! Why didn't he just do a real visit to test the waters before attempting an escape???

Chacorta is definitely feeling a bit displaced in the organization by Beto, but I don't think he's figured out the connection between Mati and Beto - yet.

Another gut wrenching episode tonight?

Beth

MARIDO:

Thanks, Adriana for the very nice recap, and lots of great observations.

I don't think Antonio should go to jail for stealing the car, because that's not exactly what he did. He had a friend obtain it for him, and then used it for a night, intending to return it. Sure, maybe legally that's stealing, but to me, it's a bit less (though still bad). Rafa is just as guilty, he's the one who "obtained" it, and should receive the same sentence as Antonio. Both of them are liars, and although that's not a crime, it doesn't make me like them much.

I'm sure Ivan has insurance on the car, so it's not the money, it's the principle of the thing (stealing).

It's amazing how people can get ideas in their minds, and can't get them OUT of their minds. Until a few weeks ago, Ester probably only vaguely thought about children, and was totally into her career. Now, all of a sudden, when she wants one, and can't have one, she's obsessed. I agree, they should adopt (except that would Juan Pablo go along). In truth, if both partners aren't in agreement on the children question, it's a recipe for trouble.

They said that Barbara was coming to town, and K is worried that she might want custody of Kikito.

Cielos,

thanks so much Hombre,

hmm, I'm thinking maybe 6 episodes left,
tonight, 4 next week, the gran final the following Monday,
(futbol on Wednesday)

Aurelio seems to have traded in his swagger for a slither,
it's like his hangover is affecting his decisions,
and he is rubbing everyone the wrong way,

I'm surprised Turco revealed himself to Cabo,
Cabo is a very dangerous man,
but once Turco decided to go against Aurelio,
he's been on Aurelio's radar,

Beto and Mati having drunken sex,
I would think Niño wouldn't even want to know, I don't,
Beto is a bit immature for being a top dog,
and way in over his head,
he is nothing without Aurelio,
(and Ruy Senderos is doing this part so well)

Cielos

Tks Hombre

I guess tonight is the episode I have been dreading. Apparently Turco isn't going quick & easy. Aurelio is really PO'd with betrayal from his abogado.

Now it will be very interesting how the Randy connection plays out.

I didn't think Chacorta seemed all that thrilled with Matilde being pregnant. Wonder if he suspects sth?

CIELOS:

Right, Variopinta, wasn't it only a few days ago that Mati showed Chacorta the (fake) negative pregnancy test? And now, all of sudden she IS pregnant? He may well be suspicious.

CIELOS:

Thanks so much Hombre. I only saw the last 15 minutes, which was a mistake because I went to sleep worrying about Turco and Ximena's fates. Not looking forward to tonight's episode.

MARIDO:

I also think (hope) that what Gris wants for Tony is not jail time, but some real way for him to pay Ivan back, through hard work. We'll see. Her response certainly took Ivan and us by surprise!

Loved Quique and Clara in the pantry, and Reinaldo and TC in the fridge. By the end of the episode, TC seemed more than willing to shut up and enjoy some cuddle time with her man. That kiss did the trick. Problem is, as you pointed out, his mind has already started wandering to Gris.

MARIDO

Hombre, I agree that Antonio doesn't deserve jail, what Rafa did is actually far worse, but I good scare could do him some good (one would hope).

And I completely agree with you about Esther all of a sudden obsessing over a baby - she had all her life to think about this and career is not an excuse - nor is JP's impotency. You can't tell me that a modern couple like them never heard of in vitro...
At this point I think she should just give up because JP is obviously not into it and so what is the point?

MARIDO

Adriana, many thanks for your fine recap. I too was astonished at Gris' response to Ivan at the end of the episode. Like many others, I suspect she's hoping to arrange for a punishment other than jail time and a criminal record for Antonio. I'd like to see him have to do some kind of manual labor to at least partly reimburse Ivan for the car. This may (or may not) help him to appreciate what his mother has done for him and his siblings. What I'm envisioning would also require him to put his medical school studies on hold.

I frankly felt something rather close to nausea when Reinaldo dealt with TC's latest "crisis" with a long, passionate kiss. I know (or at least assume) she's supposed to be an over-the-top comic figure, but by now almost everything she does or says irritates me. I fail to understand how Reinaldo can continue to love her. Or even tolerate her.

CIELOS

Many thanks yet again, Hombre. As always, I found your recap very helpful. I also liked your comment to Variopinta about Mati's having shown Chacorta a test just a few days earlier supposedly showing that she isn't pregnant, and now she tells him she is. Hmmm....

As someone who finds much of the Colombians' dialogue mystifying and frustrating, I loved it when Chacorta turns to Mati during their discussion with the Comandante and asks "What did he say?"

I was a little surprised at a scene with the normally very careful Turco. Turco is about to bring the girls to Ximena, and Aurelio tells him "Cuidalas con tu vida" and as he walks away, Turco mutters "con mi vida" loud enough for Aurelio to hear. Perhaps I'm making too much of this, but I think this gave the already suspicious Aurelio more to wonder about.

Deb, I loved your comment "Aurelio seems to have traded in his swagger for a slither"!

CIELOS

Terrific recap, Hombre!

OK, so I was thinking that Aurelio teasing Chacorta and calling him Cabo because of the pasted on mustache was signaling their framing Cabo somehow. Which didn't make much sense since they'd already lined up the right-wing guy to shoot Colmenares. But Chacorta was there to guarantee the guy was dead.

But they did obviously zoom in on Chacorta dropping the badge Irina had gotten. I thought it was on purpose, and perhaps had Cabo's name on it? But, obviously Chacorta just screwed up. And Mejia recognized him immediately.

I also immediately thought of Mathilde having given the pregnancy test (with the servant's urine) to Chacorta just before she went to Colombia. So, announcing she's pregnant before she has a few rolls in the hay with Chacorta seems pretty dumb.

Benitez is somewhat redeemed by putting Mejia on the assassination when he realizes that there IS a narco connection.

Boy, oh, boy, I surely hope there's some retribution for our Ruso-Franco snake, Irina. She's cooked Turco's goose for sure.

I'm wondering how Aurelio is going to smooth this over with Rutila. She will have to realize something is wrong when her father and some thugs prevent her from leaving with her mother.

Muchas gracias, Hombre, for your exceptional recap of a tough episode!

I realize there's the "very little time" factor, but Turco was a little sloppy in the execution of his plan, I think. If anybody knows AC is going to cover all bases, you'd think it would be Turco!

I am muy nerviosa about tonight's episode. I would love it if Rutila threw a real tantrum, such as, "I hate you, Papa, and I always will" or something like that. Maybe that will shake him up.

Por favor, Leo, let Marco in on your nightmares. Marco already knows what she's done undercover and he's not judging her.

I loathe Irina more every time I see her:)

MARIDO

Adriana, thank you for the recaps.

I was totally surprised at Griselda's "tough love" and it makes for an interesting twist.

I don't see Patricia and Antonio ever getting back together. That would be a little odd if her mom and his dad become novios.

If you check out the alternate endings for Teresa, you can see the one where she doesn't repent at the end. It was my favorite ending. I think you can find them here:

CIELOS

Marta, count me in for the "I Hate Irina!!!" club.

CIELOS

And count me in for the "muy nerviosa about tonight's episode" club. I just hope they don't drag it out for more than one episode.

CIELOS

I don't get Irina's plan. I know she wants Ximena gone, but does she really think he'd kill the mother of his kids? I mean, he probably would, but she shouldn't think so. Everyone speaks so highly of Randy that maybe he'll come through for us and save Turco.

At least we can still count on Tijeras for laughs. Loved his interactions with Triste who probably should have taken him up on his offer to share the "ladies". He needs to relax, and no way would this have happened with Monica around.

CIELOS

Glad to be a member of those clubs with you both, Novelera and Juanita, and I really do hope they don't drag out the rooftop scene beyond tonight. That's just asking too much from us:)

CIELOS

Marta, I don't think they'll throw Turco off the roof. My fear is that Turco is the person we see every day in the theme song with a bag over his head about to be burned to death by Aurelio. I was afraid for a while that it would be Don Cleto, but obviously it's not. I suppose it could be Cabo, but I think Aurelio will regard Turco's betrayal as the most serious.

CIELOS

Juanita, I also fear the Turco is the person about to be executed in the theme clip, which doesn't make me too happy. I'm really worried about Ximena on that roof. I don't think he'll kill her in front of the children, but his treatment of her is deplorable, and if she does the slightest thing he doesn't like, he punishes her or threatens her in some way. This makes me muy nerviosa:)

CIELOS

I think Irina has been spiteful toward Turco for quite some time. Many, many episodes ago, when Turco came to the gallery a couple of times, her behavior was out of line. First she tried to seduce him, and didn't like it very much when he wasn't interested.

Later she tried to pump him for information about Ximena, what Aurelio's wife was like. And Turco wasn't biting. He wisely didn't want to give her anything at all to chew on. So he rejected that move on her part.

He hasn't actually been blatantly rude to her, but in his gentlemanly fashion, it's pretty plain she's gotten the message: He thinks she's pond scum!

CIELOS

Well, so much for Turco not going off the roof. That was a surprise...lol

Cielos
Pond scum hilarious! This is my first Narco
Novela and I Love it! IBad boy Aurelio is amazing and so twisted in every episode. All of
The actors on point, just like the amazing
recappers!
Thanks,
Caroline

DYO viernes, part 1/2

Mireya’s going to help Lupita keep her money.

Karina wants to spend more time with JM, he wants to be able to trust her. She swears there’s nothing going on with Tomas.

Tomas catches Estela smelling his pajamas (*skin crawling*), and locks the door behind him. He butters her up, and wants her to be his ally. With benefits. He plants a little kiss, and she is breathless.

Ruben overhears a conversation (DRINK) between Mariano and Abue, Mariano explains that he disappeared because Estela was going to accuse him of theft and have him put in prison.

Gina and Olegario have a conversation in the courtyard in which Gina holds his hand just a little too long. Margarita interrupts, and is not happy. She’s perturbed enough to blame her for leading Berta to them putting them in danger, and asks her to stay in a hotel.

Iggy wants to know why Mommy Dearest is floating around in a cloud of ecstasy, and MD dodges the subject. Iggy also wants to know where Abuelita is. Ruben barges in, and with Ignacia listening in from around the corner (DRINK), Estela assures him she has taken care of the Lupita problem. He wants to know how, she won’t tell. He just wanted to be sure it was true that she was capable of lo que sea to get what she wants, and is disapproving (??)… is our Ruben growing a conscience? Iggy confronts her, wanting more info about what she did to Pedro’s family.

Mireya breaks the news to Neto that she’s going to Corpus Christi forever (uh-HUH.). Our favorite little Chihuahua is crushed.

Estela tells Ignacia she paid off Pedro’s family, and it solved the problem because all they wanted money.

Pedro and Lupita are confused about why Tia Gina is moving out, Margarita is nonchalant.

Olegario is also confused about gina’s departure, but she assures him she’ll be just fine and tells him to take care of Marge… he’s very important to her.

Estela and Tomas are having a cozy breakfast with mas que suegra hand-stroking (*blood curdling*). She’s going to the obra to talk to Pedro. Iggy demands to know where abuela is, and Estela tells her she went to live with Mariano. “She betrayed us in the worst way!” Estela says. “What did you do to her?” Iggy asks the gruesome twosome. “Naaaaaada,” they reply, in various ways. Ignacia tells her mother that she hasn’t forgotten what she did to Pedro’s family, and she’s going to fix it.

DYO viernes, part 2/2

Neto isn’t happy with how Pedro is making Mireya unhappy. Pedro thinks it’s none of his business. Pedro asks if he feels mas-que-amigo toward Mireyita. Neto says they’re just amigos. Things get heated and almost come to blows.

Mariano tells AA he is leaving to go see Gina’s sobrino, “You don’t know him.” AA needs a cigarette.

JM gives Karina a little surprise in a little red box. My head might explode. It’s a key to his place. My head still might explode.

Ignacia visits the barrio and apologizes to Margarita for her mother harassing them. In many sweet, well-intentioned words, Iggy once again becomes the unwitting messenger of the truth, and Margarita finds out that Lupita is pregnant. I totally laughed out loud during this scene… Iggy looking so sincere and helpful, and once again putting her foot in it (THANK GOD FOR IGNACIA THE TRUTH-TELLER). Just don’t ever give her your debit card PIN. Margarita is going to start running the opposite direction when she sees Ignacia coming ☺

Tomas walks in on the key giving ceremony, and congratulates the couple. He wants to celebrate at his house tonight. Karina is completely flustered. Aside from his “stick-up-the-@$$” posture, JM is as adorable as can be. I just wish he were a little less naïve ☹.

Mireya runs Ignacia off, Ignacia has a “Dios mio, que hice??? Pedro’s going to kill me!” moment at the car, Mireya confirms Lupita’s pregnancy to Marge. Margarita is sick of people hiding things from her. “Do you think it would hurt any less if I found out later??” That’s what we’ve been thinking the last couple of weeks, Margarita.

Estela shows up to regañar a Pedro and threaten him to stay away from her daughter, who is going to marry a marvelous man. Pedro scoffs at the word marvelous, and Estela’s claws come out. Mariano walks in…. “Estela?? You know Pedro Perez??”

Marge walks in on Lupita at the house, and gives her a big…. BACKHAND ACROSS THE FACE?? (out of character much, Marge?). “I didn’t raise you to get pregnant so young! And to hide it from me too! Virgencita, what did I do wrong?” She asks Lupita to leave her alone for a while. Seems Mamacita Santa is having a Griselda tough love moment. Iggy comes in and wants to dig the hole deeper, I mean, fix what she provoked.

Olga walks in on Tomas reliving the key-giving ceremony… hazard pay indeed. He screams at her and fires her.

“How do you know Pedro?” “How do YOU know Pedro?” this conversation goes on like this for a few seconds, and then Estela reveals to Mariano that Pedro and Ignacia “like like” each other. Mariano is having visions of nietos with two heads and webbed feet.

Fin del capitulo.

New drinking game: drink every time Ignacia tries to fix something. I'm going to get a good buzz out of these episodes if it kills me.

DYO

Irisz, Telemundo and Subway were hot n' heavy during Pasion Prohibida... lots of outlandish product placement. There has been virtually none in this tn, except for the occasional glance of the toyota symbol on Ignacia's car. Surprising, but refreshing!!

DyO
Another Amy I am loving your new drinking game, and I have another one: every time someone in high heels shows up at a construction site without a visitor badge or a hard hat: DRINK.
Wow, I am really liking the speed with which secrets are revealed on this show. But I was disappointed by Margarita, first throwing Gina out of the house and then backhanding Lupita, ouch.
Thanks for the recap Another Amy. Another great job!
J in Oregon

DyO,

Thanks AnotherAmy, wonderful job!

Thanks for clarifying the Subway thing, I haven't seen PP, but it must have been like they show Tostitos at Televisa.

@J in Oregon love the new drinking game, I was wondering when last time Mireya got to the construction site just forgot to mention, how labour safety working over there??

Anybody just goes inside without any questions asked, without hard hats and boots and in a wheelchair no less??!
I was surprised that she was even able to maneuver the wheelchair at all throught clay, clod, slag etc..
I LOL whenever Iggy running around in gum boots then Estella or Gina come for a surprise visit in high heels.. :)

DYO

Thanks for the recap Amy. I was going to suggest another drinking game around Iggy's "helpfulness." She has the worst case of "foot in mouth disease" I've seen in a long time.

Between this and Marido I'll end up with a pickled liver!

MARIDO - Friday
Part 1

Gris wants the police to take care of Antonio, because he needs to understand that stealing and lying is not ok. Ivan is surprised by her attitude, but Gris explains him that she’s a fair and honest person and that’s why she sees things like this.
After Gris leaves, K goes to ask Ivan what he talked with his mother; he is very surprised to find out that Gris didn’t defend Antonio, but Gabriel says he understands; remembering his own wife’s betrayal, though, K says that women always bail on men.

Antonio and Mirna talk about the rest of the money that he owes her; he says he won’t pay her anything else, because the farce was discovered, so Mirna almost breaks his ribs (that are already in bad shape after the accident). Later on, using his sister’s name as a bargaining chip again, Antonio convinces Rafa to go pay up Mirna (with his own money, of course, but that goes without saying).

Amalia talks to Celeste about Gris’ refusal to intervene for Antonio and asks her to try to convince her mom to change her mind. Celeste tries to talk to Gris about it, but Gris won’t hear of it! She feels she failed as a mother and besides, Celeste can’t understand her because she can’t even bring herself to press charges against Manuel.

Reinaldo and TC are eating and talking about how pleased he is with his work; this reminds TC the conversation she overheard between he and Gris and asks him to spend the day together, because she needs him, she can’t even imagine her life without him. But this bothers Reinaldo, because he doesn’t want to be needed, he only wants to be loved (so I suppose that means that when he falls for Gris, he’ll also fall for her ability to handle things on her own, while she’ll only be with him out of love and not some necessity)

Later on at the restaurant, Reinaldo talks to Simon about TC’s crisis and how difficult marriage is. Vanesa keeps flattering him in such an obvious manner that even Simon starts to notice something.

Not happy about her talk to Reinaldo TC decides they need to renew their vows and later on she goes to the restaurant to talk to him about the party she wants to throw for this occasion. He doesn’t think a party is the best idea now, when Pati is still so hurt, but reasoning with TC is useless. She wants everyone to know that they will be together until they die and even after that (what a dreadful prospect!) – Their love is infinite and whatnot. Finally, he caves in, they talk about some repairs the restaurant needs - but not during business hours because they can’t afford to lose money, TC warns.

Alone with Simon, Reinaldo tells him about the improvements he wants to make and then says he has the best worker for them (thinking about Gris with stars in his eyes).

Ivan decides to forgive Antonio after all. Gris tells her son the news and he thinks she intervened for him, but she sets the record straight: she hasn’t forgiven him, she never will, not in 1000 years, she told Ivan to move forward with the plaint.

MARIDO Friday
Part 2

TC goes to announce Ester and JP about the vow renewal. Esther is already not feeling to great because of the whole baby story and when TC suggests they should renew their vows, too, Esther kind of postpones an answer. So TC starts to ask about the baby doctor, but JP quickly shuts her up and makes her leave by mentioning tia Iris again. Esther is not happy that TC knows about the baby business, though.

Gabriel has come to visit Griselda, su bella (his beauty). She asks him to stop calling her that, but how could he not? The sun is the sun, the moon is the moon, and she is beautiful (Drink up, guys, but use some lemons, because Gabe is nauseating). He also adds that Gris can do whatever she wants with him, she’ll always have his support (this puppy love routine at a 40 years old is really starting to tire me).

Amalia sees Barbara on tv, she and her fighter boyfriend are getting ready to come for a fight in Miami (although they talk in Spanish and Barbara says in the interview it will be so great to be in her country again…ah well). Spoiler alert (not really, but I can swear on it) – from her two lines I can bet good money that Barbara will be 10 times more annoying than TC (which I actually like, but I know many can’t stand her grating personality).
Kikito (what an awful name for a child, the nickname of a nickname…poor kid will have no personality when he grows up) sees his mom, has a crisis. K can’t understand how come his son still remembers her but Gris rightfully points out the fact that the entire house is filled with her pictures.

TC calls the restaurant and finds out from Vanesa that Reinaldo is no longer at work. Crisis alert!

Later on Gris is trying to rest after a hard day of work, when Reinaldo comes by to tell her about the working opportunity at his restaurant. At first they talk outside, but a nosy neighbor sees them (I was wondering when those will show up); so they go inside for some privacy (and so the rumors begin) and Gris refuses to work for him because she knows TC won’t approve. Reinaldo thinks his wife doesn’t have to know about it, it’s not like she cares too much about the administrative details. As K listens from the stairs, Gris tries to explain that she won’t feel comfortable working there, worse if Reinaldo will be with her, too.
K intervenes and states that his mom will never accept this job. Jose Enrique is K’s name, by the way.

Anyway, he acts like a douche, tells Reinaldo to get out because he only came to offer his mom money, but Reinaldo tries to defend himself and explain that he came to offer a job.
Gris puts an end to K’s rambling, by alluding to the fact that she knows what the real reason for his bad temper is (Barbara) – he blurts out that he’s been cheated on, thinks she was about to tell Reinaldo about this (Geez, K, sensitive much? Grow a pair, dude! Go kiss Clara some more!) Gris promises him she’ll never share that kind of information with a stranger and Amalia takes K upstairs.
Reinaldo apologizes for causing the bad moment, but Gris tries to explain that K is going through a rough time and yes, she’ll accept the job offer because she needs the money to pay for the wrecked car (something about the insurance’s deductible, which I guess is the difference in money Ivan will have to pay from now on to his insurance company, right?)
So the next morning she’ll show up at the restaurant, make an estimation of the costs and may God protect her! Of what, Reinaldo seems to want to ask, but we already know the answer – protect her from falling in love and most probably, TC’s rage when she finds out.

MARIDO

Thanks for the dee-lite-ful recap Adriana. I have plenty of lemons in my fridge.

I'm not sure how old Kikito is supposed to be. I thought I heard them say that Barbara left two years ago (just like I thought I heard them say that Kikito needs therapy but they can't afford it).

The deductible is the money you have to pay before insurance will cover damage. I drive carefully; my deductible is $1000. It's a high amount but it gives me a break with the yearly bill.

MARIDO

Thank you, Adriana, for the great recap! I'm going out to buy a dozen lemons - it's obvious Gabriel isn't going to stop soon!

I could not believe that Gris is going to pay the deductible on Ivan's car! QTH! What happened to tough love? After all her talk about Antonio needing to face the consequences of his behavior, she has once again enabled him. No wonder he's the obnoxious, self-centered little sh!t he is.

Rafa's finding out just how costly his relationship with Amalia is.

Vanessa is too obvious - she just oozes 'appreciation' whenever she's around Reinaldo.

I can hardly wait for the Clara-Barbara match-up.

Kikito looks to be about 6-7, old enough that he'd remember his mother, especially with photos of her around the house.

Beth

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Adriana. If Gris had actually been trying, that was a nice bit of reverse psychology she just pulled on Ivan. He was all set to be hard on Antonio, until he saw that Gris was even tougher. Then he got all soft thinking about how this ruin Antonio's future.

I don't like that Gris intends to pay the deductible. I hope she has a plan for Antonio to pay her back. I don't see him volunteering to do that.
