La Tempestad: cast of characters
Ximena Navarrete is Marina Reverte; a professional woman who has succeeded in the world of business and tourism. A beautiful woman, secure in herself, but her career is cut short by her act of justice and courage. She sees a chance to start again in the town of Nuestra Señora del Mar and there meets the love of her life, Damián Fabré.
Iván Sánchez is Hernán Saldaña: an old school chum of Marina's who was much bullied in his adolescence; now he's a powerful impresario. He's attractive and seems a gentleman, but these qualities hide a real mafioso in charge of a ring of kidnappers and white slavers. He sees a chance to conquer Marina and will not hesitate to use his power and money. He is in alliance with the mayor, Fulgencio Salazar.
Daniela Romo is Mercedes Artigas, Marina's biological mother. She is a strong woman, able to confront any problem. She was a humble woman when she became pregnant by a man she loved. Ernesto killed the man and stole one of the twin babies, Magdalena, destined for a life of abuse and prostitution. To protect her other daughter, Marina, Mercedes gave her up for adoption. She made a fortune and has dedicated years to searching for Magdalena.
Manuel Ojeda is Ernesto Contreras, a powerful and evil man who moves in the business world though his fortune is based on illicit operations. He is authoritorian and vengeful, leader of a mafia dedicated to human slavery, especially women who are destined for the world of prostitution. He was once in love with Mercedes Artigas, but she was in love with another man by whom she became pregnant. He assassinated his rival. He never knew Mercedes had twins. Years later life put him face to face with Marina, who was brave enough to denounce him to the police for trying to rape an employee.
César Évora is Fulgencio Salazar, a corrupt man, mayor of Nuestra Señora del Mar. He is the adoptive father of Esthercita, whom he protects or treats badly depending on circumstances. He uses his power to protect Hernan's mafia. he hates Damián, the man his daughter loves, simply for being the son of Michel Fabré, with whom he had difficulties.
Laura Carmine is Esthercita Salazar, a capricious young woman who acts with arrogance because of the influence of her adopted father Fulgencio. She flirts with Damián, and lies in such a way that she obliges him to marry her.

Thanks so much for this delightful cast of characters. I really like William Levy and remember Ivan Sanchez from La Reina del Sur. Two of the best bad guys in the biz, Cesar Evora and Manuel Ojeda! I remember Daniela Romo from Sortilego and Laura Carmine from AB. I know Ximena Navarrete is new. I can't wait for this one to start.
Yes he does doesn't he? LOL.
Jarifa:
I too think this will be interesting. It's got pirates, 'nough said, lol.
Too true about the bad pirates, but pirates they are. I started watching Uni during Corazon Salvaje and missed Pasion : (
I know the reviews are bad, but I don't tend to listen to the reviews. What may be bad to some, is great for others. That's my view and I'm stickin' to it ; )
I'm not sure who has been whispering in your ear but I have been thinking of the show as TempeStuds.
For me the big question is whether Iván Sánchez will get a chance to show what he can do. (He was incredibly sizzling hot in La Reina del Sur.)
Thanks so much, Melinama, for this artfully translated intro to the cast.
Bring on the schlock!
Although I have sworn off Mejía, I may end up watching this. I am too far behind on MeA and will even miss the first 2 weeks of TempeStuds. (At least with LT, I'll get an easy-to-locate daily recap) What is a beanie-hat wearing telenovela adicta to do? Vaya! Valgame Dios!
"Although I have sworn off Mejía ..."
and I have sworn off chocolate.
Nevertheless, here we are. Might as well enjoy it, no? (Pass me one of those rum balls, would you?)
:D
I gotta say I am also looking forward to Mentir Para Vivir with Zepeda. I believe it will replace QBA.

Mr. Levy looks ridiculous in that hair. Maybe he'll do some kind of Beltbuckle-inspired hair transformation? Preferably before the finale?
How does Cesar Evora have time to be in everything?
That said, I'll give it a chance. Ximena being new kind of scares me, and I'm not familiar with Ivan Sanchez. Laura Carmine was awesome in Amor Bravio, and Cesar Evora is so much wicked fun as a villain. We'll see how it goes, but Amores Verdaderos has left some pretty big shoes to fill.
I am so glad you are joining us. I think this is just your cup of tea ; )
Bailey Marie:
This will be a total snark fest, trust me! Ivan Sanchez was in La Reina del Sur as a, how shall I say this, a nice drug runner. He will be a real bad guy here. I really like the way he moves and speaks. I too don't like the hair extentions on our galan, but like Julie said I hope they go bye bye quickly. Laura Carmine will be terrific as always, she plays a bad girl here too, and Ximena will be different since she is new. And Cesar Evora, I could listen to his voice all day long! Give it a try, you might like it ; )
Aaron Diaz, last seen in another tn I could not watch all the way through, is looking mighty fine these days and will soon bee in a Telemundo tn. Take a look, El Tal refugees, at him and the product of the love that started on set of that mess of a tn: http://instagram.com/p/cC7htqBVAd/
I'm not a William Levy fan either. Too-full lips on a man just look completely wrong and indecisive although the long hair isn't bad (He did look good in Pasion). I think they're going for a Brad Pitt double.
We know all about the bad rating in Mexico, but sometimes what is bad in Mexico is great here, jus' sayin' : )
Can't stand David Zepeda as a galan; much prefer him as the antagonist - he's just not all that to me.
NM, "TempeSTUDS"...now that's what I'm talking about girlfriend, LOL.
Melinama, thank you for the terrific character descriptions.
Gotta say that Daniela Romo and Manuel Ojeda are a couple of my faves. I didn't care for nor watch Sortilegio, thought Levy was OK in Pasion, but I LOVED him dancing in DWTS. (Loved the dancing de la Fuente too!) And I'm with doris on the bodice ripper pic...rowr. I'm so looking forward to this one and I'm absolutely delighted to hear that the rest of you are on board to watch or at least check it out.

I was planning on recapping this first Thursday since Mads has this Friday.
Why don't we see where we are at after the first week?
(Is that okay with everyone else?)
He did not get tattooed, they are phoney, TG.
Actually the long hair didn't look too bad, not as good as Pasión though, but this isn't a historical TN.
WL is looking good in his ads, M&M, Pepsi,Samsung & one other, so he is making some dinero.
Ximena Navarrete was better than Blanca Soto & it's her 1st role.
Bodice ripper picture reminds me of the Italian (Fabio) that was on romance novels & I Can't Believe It's Not Butter commercials.
