Qué Bonito Amor #71 (Mex 106-107.1) Tuesday 7/23/13 When bad things happen to good people

It's here!

This will be a short recap because not much happened- by that I mean most of the episode was spent in the hospital with Amalia and JA in hysterics and no one needs me to recap crying, crying and more crying.
We start tonight’s episode where we left off last night, our dear Maria falls of the stage, lands on a chair and this turns into a grave medical emergency. Jorge and Coloso run to her rescue and argue about what to do, take her to the hospital? Call an ambulance? Finally they agree that Coloso will drive them to the clinic.
Mirna is on to Elvira, she tells her that she knows Maria’s fall was no accident, she also advises Elvira to get a better poker face. That’s good advice because anyone who paid attention to her could see the smug look of satisfaction on her face; I hope that before this novella is over someone does smack the living daylights out of her.
In the vecindad Amalia is having a call of the blood moment and senses that something is terribly wrong, just then she gets a phone call from El Lay, it’s her new friend Justo! He asks how she’s doing and she says she was fine until a few moments ago when she started to feel poorly, but she thinks this is due to stress, what with JA starting fights in the bar and all.
There is a loud knock at the door and Amalia tells Justo that she has to go; he says absolutely not, he wants to know who is at the door at that time of night. Amalia puts him on hold and opens the door and there stands Lurdes and she breaks the bad news: Maria was in an accident and is in bad shape. Amalia goes to the phone and informs Justo of the accident, then hangs up and gets ready to head to the clinic. All the noise wakes up Paloma and Isa who both freak out when they hear that big sis is in trouble. Lurdes offers to take Amalia to the clinic, proving that she does indeed have a heart. I take back all the mean things I ever said about her and her hair.
In El Lay Wendy walks into Justo’s office and he informs her that he is going to Mexico, Wendy shrieks and asks “why daddy, why?! What do you have to do there?”- does this chick not have an indoor voice? Justo tells her that he is going to Mexico to see JA, just then detectives Dumb and Dumber walk in (do they not knock, were these two raised in a barn? Viwerville wants answers!). Detective Derecho tells Justo that he is glad he is going off to see JA, maybe he can finally get him to turn himself in.
We get the same song and dance as always, Derecho wants JA, Justo tells him he can’t have JA and that his son is expecting a baby so he is like super duper interested in clearing his name. Derecho urges Justo to have JA turn himself in to the authorities but Justo again says no, he believes that they are not interested in proving his sons innocence, they believe him to be guilty and that has clouded the way they are working the case. He also fears for the life of his son, Derecho says they will provide protection to which Justo replies “Sergeant, you have a daughter, right? Would you put her safety in the hands of two idiots?” Oh, Derecho, you just got told!
The show at JNTR was interrupted by the emergency but Fernando tells Concho not to worry, he has it all covered, Concho, who has no other options has no choice but to let Fernando sing. Fernando then signs an original song (was it an original or a cover of something else, anyone know?), anyhoo, he pulls Ana from the audience and serenades her, she seems to be touched by this, later in the episode we see that Don Concho was happy with Fernando’s performance and adds him to the list of singers and the best part is that Fernando can perform his original work because he is so good that he could be the next Jorge Alfredo Jimenez.
Put your beanies on cause we are in for a wild ride!
At the local hospital Maria is in bed complaining of bad stomach pain, why no one has given her a pain killer is beyond me, she is worried that something is wrong with the baby and the doctor tells her that they will do an ultrasound to check on the baby, as she is talking the nurse notices that Maria is bleeding, a whole freaking lot and alerts the doctor, Maria faints.
The doctor says that Maria needs to be rushed to surgery, meanwhile in the lobby Jorge Alfredo is freaking out as is Amalia, I don’t think I need to tell you folks that for 90% of the episode consists of Jorge and Amalia doing nothing other than cry and scream, mostly it’s JA screaming “mi mujer, mi hijo!” while Amalia cries.
In the OR the doctor says that there is too much bleeding and that she won’t be able to save the baby, Maria goes into cardiac arrest and almost walks into the light, but she hears Jorge’s voice and turns back, in the lobby both JA and Amalia feel that Maria is okay. The doctor works some more on Maria, she wants to do everything possible to make sure that Maria is able to have children in the future.
The doctor comes out and gives everyone the bad news, while Maria is ok the baby has not survived. Jorge and Amalia are devastated, Lurdes tries to comfort Amalia, Fernando tries to comfort JA and Elvira looks on (oh yes, the b*tch made a trip to the hospital to admire her handy work), for a moment there she looked like she might feel remorse, but nope, she takes the opportunity to go up to Amalia and tell her how horrible she feels about the accident. JA is not having it and asks her to the Eff out, even physically holding her arms and almost shaking her, just then Ana and Sietemares walk in and want to know what all the fuss is about, they are told the bad news and Ana tries to make Amalia feel better, Lurdes tries to get her evil spawn out of the hospital but Elvira acts as if she’s done nothing wrong and is just trying to help (b*tch times a billion!)
Jorge wants to see Maria but the doctor won’t allow it, Maria needs her rest in order to get better. Jorge screams that he wants to see his “bonita” and Fer tells him he needs to calm down “you don’t know what it feels like to lose a child!”. Sietemares tells JA that he lost his daughter and wife in a fire, so he understands the pain.
Coloso then says that his little Maria needs all the comfort, hugs and care in the world to get over what has happened to her. *rant alert*  is this man stupid, slow, insensitive, unkind or all of the above? This was neither the place nor time for him to be making such statements, Maria is not his, will never be his and he needs to figure that out real damn fast!
The doctor seeing JA in distress allows him to see Maria, who is in her room dreaming of holding her baby girl *tears*
In other news Irasema is still being held by Fabian and is staging a hunger strike, she would rather starve than go back to selling her body.
Join us tomorrow when JA has to tell Maria that the baby did not survive.

I won't comment on the whole show until the recap is up but will say that Maria's fall was one of the worst, most contrived, ridiculous things I've ever seen. The only one more ridiculous was when a character fell off the steeple of a church and she only ended up with a broken back. SMH

As I said yesterday, she should only have fallen on her butt. This fall wasn't realistic.

Unless I'm equally insane I'd say that Lourdes may earn redemption. She seemed sincere in her approach to Amalia last night.

She may also figure out that Elvira was responsible for this and that she came to the hospital to gloat.

Right call on what should have ben a slip not a midair summersault onto a table and then the floor. Also I guess the only reason she slipped and Concho, Ana and Fernando didn't is that she kept walking forward and they stood still.

Agee about Lourdes. She stepped up, went to a woman she knows doesn't like her and who was initially ungracious. She was also supportive when Amelia needed a woman's. I think she will be horrified if and when she finds out that her dear daughter was responsible. Mirna who now goes onto my I hope something bad happens to you list warned Miss Botox, to be discrete and not gloat. Elrius naturally ignored her. Waiting for large asnvil to fall on her bleached head.

I've never seen defibrillator paddles used on top of a cotton dressing gown. Don't they work better with direct skin contact?

Good catch, yep the paddles were wrong. What was worse was the doctor not even noticing that Maria was hemorrhaging until the nurse pointed it out. The Doctor really should have let JAntos in to at least see Maria instead of trying to keep him out. If nothing else it would have calmed him down.

Felt sorry for poor Roddy all alone with no food and no money to buy some and he can't even go to the Mendozas to get some.

Thanks for the recap.

Really the only thing worth noting about this episode is the sudden change in Lourdes' behavior. I didn't think she would act so kindly to Amalia. Hopefully she keeps it up throughout the rest of the TN. As for Elvira...well, obviously she will never change.

I tried to ignore JA's scenes of desperation. They were a bit much. The doctor didn't help him much. At least Fernando can sort of control him.

I actually didn't expect the baby to die, but the same thing happened to LQNPA. Maria and JA could still have another.

The stupid doctor might have been able to save the baby if she wasn't so busy staring at Maria's face, telling her to "aguante" and not looking to see if there was any bleeding. When Maria said she was in severe pain the Dr. Dum-dum just said, "okay, let's wait for the ultrasound." It was the nurse who noticed the bleeding and even then the idiot doc didn't do anything, just yelled for the nurse to come back!

The other noteworthy thing is Mirna's viciousness. You'd think she would be shocked at the outcome of this nasty act.

Would it be too much to hope that either she or Elvirus will be seen cleaning up the evidence?

Good show, Justo, in standing up to those incompetent Keystone Kops.

I also think that Jorge Alfredo isn't managing his desperation well because this is new for him. He has hitherto not been in love and therefore wouldn't have felt this before.

I think Lourdes realizes that Amalia never had any interest in Concho and was therefore no real threat.

Oscar needs a very serious reality check. Someone needs to make him see that Maria was never his.

Ditto on the dumb medical scene.

JAntos was out of control as he has been through much of the TN. It strikes me that when he was in LA he was a successful businessman, in charge of his life and things around him. Since the great betrayals began he has had absolutely no control over any aspect of his life. He can't even control himself at this point. If he were a teenage girl he'd probably be dipping into anorexia. I really hope he is a bit more tactful when he breaks the news to Maria then the previews show.

Eli you were dead on about Coloso, every time I think I might cut him so some slack he does something stupid. He was pretty good with JAntos last night up until the point where he once again referred to Maria as his chiquita. He just can't let go and now I want an anvil to fall on him as well since people talking to him doesn't penetrate.

Gloria time to get back to the DF and rescue your son from his unthinking clod of a father.

What exactly is Mirna's gripe against Maria? You'd think she'd do everything to keep her happy and the peso's rolling in. An alliance with Trampira makes no sense at all. Then again a little blackmail wouldn't be remiss. I used to think Mirna was just annoying but now she goes on my hit list with her new BFF.

Interesting how even when both Amelia and JAntos were having identical feelings about Maria she wouldn't unbend until near the end and that was pretty much at Fernando's urging and forcing them to hold hands. I think had she not treated him so consistently badly JAntos would have been more sensitive to her feelings and they could have gotten past the past with their shared grief. Will be interesting to see what happens next.

Amalia won't change. She'll probably commiserate with Coloso instead of with JA. She really p'd me off when the first thing she told Justo was, "I'm so stressed, probably because your son caused a scene at the bar!" Really, woman? It's STILL all about you, right?

Anon

I so agree she just can't let go. I gave her a mini pass because she does love her daughter and this is a nightmare for her but she is really selfish. In some ways i think she is jealous of the fact that Maria loves JAntos so much and feels it takes away from her. The woman needs help.

I was really worried for Irasema whn Fabnot showed up in her cell. I couldn't help thinking he would just send some guy in to abuse her but I guess even he hasn't sunk that low.

Decie Girl, Mirna is afraid that Maria will find out that she and her family rightfully own half the bar. That would mean that Concho owes them profits going back at least ten years. Since Amalia rarely appears there for any reason and the two younger sisters are minors, Maria is the only one of them in a position to unmask that theft.

Since Maria is also a law student this makes it a dangerous situation for Concho and for Mirna, who could go to prison as an accomplice.

Of course there is also Jorge Alfredo, who (when he's calm) is smarter than any of them. I'm not sure she realizes that.

As much of an asshole as he is lately, Oscar wouldn't be pleased at this news either.

Agree about Amalia. She is being stupidly selfish about Maria.
