Corazon Indomable #57 Sometimes things don't go according to plan

We open with the arrival of the guests to Karim’s party. They decorated the apartment with guazy white material draped over the entrance so one must push them out of the way to walk in. The governor, Doris and Octavio enter and Karim gives Octavio the stink eye, but quickly recovers and welcomes them. Octavio wants to proceed to the drink table but Doris wants to wait for MA to arrive to see her get kicked out like the lower class casino owner she is. In walks MA in her body hugging red dress with her hair down loose and wavy. Octavio moons over her (I hope you know what that means because it describes his look perfectly) and Karim practically knocks Doris over to rush over and give her the welcome we all expect, including the hand kiss, and tells her in front of Dortavio (that’s what I’m going to call them when they are together), that she’s the reason for the party, and the most important guest. Doris is dismayed to hear that. Not only is she dismayed, but she is appalled that she could get the Emir’s attention like that.

Back at the casino, Teo, aka Angel Alferez, is still talking to Raisa at the poker table. She still doesn’t know who he is. He flirts with her and wants to read her palm in order to get to know her better. Boy oh boy, Teo has learned the moves while he was away. That is a good line, guys. He reads in her palm that she’s had a marriage that’s gone wrong and a sister who puts up with her but doesn’t care about her very much. She lives worrying about her uncertain future and too bad about the money and the jewelry that were stolen. Raisa snatches her hand away and he apologizes for making her uncomfortable.

And to put another bee in Doris’s bonnet, daddy then approaches MA and greets her by kissing her hand as well. Karim tells him that since he’s the governor, he has the honor of picking someone and having the first dance. So he promptly picks MA to dance. Karim has to admit to himself that that was well played by the governor. Doris is now about to blow a gasket. MA is pleased to have an excuse to get away from Karim, and quickly agrees to go dancing. Middle eastern type of music is playing and I expect to see some belly dancing, but they are dancing like it’s Sinatra music, lol. Karim tries to interrupt their dancing but a comedic series of women come up to him and dance with him. After the third one, he gives up trying to get to MA. So Doris heads toward papa and tells him that she wants to dance with him and grabs his arm.

Raisa makes her way up to Carola’s office and tells her that the stranger has told her things that there is no way he could have known. Carola dismisses her concerns. But they both agree he seems oddly familiar. Hmm....

When Doris pulls daddy away from MA, Octavio heads over to Mari and dances with her to squelch a scene. He tells her that Doris is simply jealous because she’s the most beautiful woman at the party.  With everyone watching them she orders him to kiss her so he of course does. He might be oblivious, but he’s not stupid. He kisses her passionately for at least 30 seconds. I know that because I counted the seconds.(the scene was in slow motion, but I counted in slow motion too) MA can’t resist and seems to kiss him back. The Governor, Doris and Karim are all in shock. People, this show is no longer boring. They finally come up for air and Octavio tells her it was an honor to kiss her. She tells him to slow down cowboy, she only did that to teach his girlfriend a lesson, (and to see if kissing him is still as good as she remembered. I think it is.)

We now get interrupted by Raisa and Carola again. They’re still trying to figure out who Teo is. They get Tony involved. (Am I the only one who thinks this Tony is very yummy looking? Give this man a bigger part.) He approaches Teo and lets him know that he knows his name is not Angel Alferez. Tell me what my real name is then, he replies. When Hawt Tony doesn’t answer, Teo says that when he finally knows, to let him know.

Karim is pacing the floor and is in a snit. His men try to calm him down. He orders the music to be stopped.  MA and Octavio continue to dance and someone comes up to them to let them know that the music has stopped. They pull away embarrassed. Doris rushes up to grab Octavio (poor Octavio), and Karim whisks MA away. He wants to know why she was doing that and she says she has no interest in him, she was only trying to keep him away from Doris. It’s a woman thing that we do to each other. (It is?) That makes Karim feel better. He now wants her to be all his since she’s the reason for the party. If that’s the case, she wants him to say it publicly. She wants status on the island as a lady, and if Karim tells everyone the party was in her honor, she thinks that will take care of it. He agrees.

Meanwhile, Doris is at her finest laying into her father and Octavio. I hate this scene so much I will not recap it except to say “Shut up Doris!”. (I will be saying that a few more times before the show ends, you will know what is happening when I do.) Karim walks to the dance floor and gets everyones attention and announces that MA is his esteemed guest and if you honor her you will be his friend too, or something like that. Oh, and once again, Shut up Doris!

HT (Hawt Tony) reports to Carola that he didn’t find out who he was, but he’s certain that Angel Alferez isn’t his real name. He wonders why Carola cares because Angel lost a lot of money which is good for the casino. She says it’s because she doesn’t trust him and wants to know what he's up to.

Shut up Doris!

MA wants to talk to Krazy Karim in private so he takes her to a tent out back. Octavio sees where they are going and will wait for her to come back.  She wants to return the necklace but he wants her to keep it. She doesn’t want the commitment it suggests but he insists.  She just wants his respect, but he says that he loves her. They struggle, he thinks it’s now time for the kidnapping. He says in 2 hours they will be far away together. She looks at him like he’s Krazy Karim. Karim orders 2 guys to grab her and take her to his plane. Octavio hears MA’s screams and comes to the rescue. He pushes Karim down and punches another, the third one leaves. Octavio tells her to run away. Karim insist that he already had MA and wanted her again. Octavio they asks why he had to kidnap her then if she was already his and says that she was threatening to tell his wife and his father about them and he wanted to keep her quiet. Octavio says he doesn’t believe him, but I'll bet Oblivio does. He lectures Krazy Karim about how to treat a woman and Karim just laughs and says he can give them anything they want. Octavio reminds him that they will not love him for all of his jewelry. Karim then sees what is happening. He asks Octavio if he’s in love with MA. He says he protects women, no matter who they are. Good answer.
MC runs into the governor who is leaving and asks for their help. He puts her in his Limo and they leave. They arrive to her place and she wants the governor to tell Karim he has to leave. He agrees. He then notices his surroundings and comments on the lovely house. He asks if she lives alone and she says she lives with her daughter and the nanny. He’s surprised that she has a daughter and she realizes she said too much and asks that he not tell anyone.

Back at the tent, Krazy Karim is having a melt down. He now wants to come up with a krazier plan to get back at not only MA, but Octavio too. He is sick with vengeance!

Octavio comes to see Eduardo, who is in his jammies getting ready for bed. How cute. He asks how the night went and Octavio tells him he had to fight Karim’s bodyguards to protect MA, and Karim wouldn’t fight because he’s a coward. Eduardo asks why he had to protect her and he says that the Emir set her up. But Oblivio now makes an appearance to tell Eduardo that he believed all the lies that Karim told him about MA.

Shut up Doris!

We close with MA remembering how Octavio saved her from the klutches of Krazy Karim. She knows she has to thank him. And Octavio dreaming of his encounters with MA and MC.

Thanks for the recap, cathyx. I totally agree with you about Hawt Tony. There's so much room for plot there. I always thought that he and Raiza would be having an affair on the side, but he seems to be single. Give him a love interest already!!!! Maybe Juanita??

Krazy Karim indeed. Our blue-eyed, smooth-talking Arab has gone wild-eyed, ape-shit loco. I'm hoping he takes extreme measures in these next couple of capitulos, because God knows this show needs the action.

I personally loved the kiss. Octavio and MA make a beautiful couple, and the song hasn't lost its magic. But Oblivio...you're having daydreams about MC AND MA! Wake up and smell the coffee!

I actually thought el Gobernador was quite gallant in his behavior toward MA, especially after he found out she had a child. Rather than jumping to conclusions or denouncing her as a "casino woman", it looks like he's planning

My phone cut off my comment, sorry!

It looks like the Gobernador is planning on marrying MA. He moves waaaaaaay too fast, but I do think it's kind of nice that he's trying to support her and Lupita.

Shut up, Doris!!! Love that :) I'm wondering if she and Krazy Karim will make a villainous pact to separate MA and Oblivio.

Love when Octavio tells Karim that when a woman says no, she means No!

And YES Tony is super hawwt!!!!

I would have thought that Karim and the Governor would have been disgusted with MA after she kissed Octavio and absolutely not defend her. I expected the Gov to turn his back on her when she ran to him for help.

I hope Tony appears more often, maybe he and Eduardo can join a gym with a sauna ;)

Isla Dorada has a high society? I mean, MA is now the owner of a mansion in the capital.

Finally a doppelganger that I can believe no one recognises -- I cannot see Teobaldo at all in Angel Alferez. Even his voice is completely different. Did he also get instructed in the finer arts by Tobias?

Bailey Marie, I thought the governor was gallant toward MA also. So many times he could have written her off, when she was kissing Octavio, for example, and when she told him about her daughter, she only mentioned the baby's father but not that he was also her husband, but he stayed on her side.

Daniela, I love your idea about Tony and Eduardo at a gym and in a sauna. I am picturing it right now.

Excellent recap cathyx, you captured this episode perfectly. I was a bit envious that you got to recap the kidnapping attempt.

I think understand now why there's unrest in the Emir's kingdom. What a well-planned and well-executed abduction. I don't think those guys could have kidnapped a homeless dog. At least Octavio got to be a hero. I'd say that now he actually owes Karim one.

I wish that they'd back off a bit on María Alejandra's makeup. She has such a natural beauty and the excessive makeup detracts from that... for me at least.

Carlos

Great recap. Guess Doris is quite fond of herself. Let's see who loses interest when news gets out about MC's bebe.

@Carlos, you're soooo right! Krazy Karim probably couldn't kidnap a homeless dog xD
Regarding the makeup....I agree with you, but I think the point is to make as big a contrast between MA and MC as possible. It's certainly working on Oblivio.

Carlos, I thought that MA's makeup was too heavy too.

Golawah, I'm not sure why MA is so worried that Octavio finds out she has a baby. It's not like he's ever going to put two and two together.

I'm so jealous that you got this eventful episode Cathyx! But it couldn't have been in better hands.

"Shut up Doris!" LOL! I love it. It was just what I was thinking every time she opened her mouth.

Octavio and the Gov got to play hero, and Karim get to let his crazy freak flag fly. Good stuff. Now, I hope that Mari has learned not to go off to dark secluded locations, with men she knows are obsessed with her. Oh, wait...she let the Gov into her house. Well, Teo kept the baby secret, so he might too.

ITA with you all about handsome Tony. I wish the writers would give him more to do. What happened to the new blonde girl at the casino? The one Tav flirted with? She would make a nice pair with Tony.

Great recap, Cathyx. Loved the "Shut up, Doris!" and "People, this show is no longer boring" - at least until the next filler episode, right?

@Vivi - Tav didn't just flirt with the blonde. He kissed her too, to make MariAle jealous, remember? Since we never saw her again, I'm guessing the back story on that is that as soon as MariAle became the official owner she kicked her butt off the ship!!

Thank you for the recap. As enjoyable as the episode as usual.
Interesting how Doris has superceded Lucia as the resident nut case here lately. I HATE Doris! I like the actress who plays her though. I loved the look on Raiza's face when Teo told her she had a sister who didn't love her. She looked stunned and sad at the same time. I found the lack of lavishness at the party disappointing though. It looked like a really cheap affair, hardly the social event of a lifetime that it was being played up to be.

I really don’t understand why Doris and Karim are making assumptions about Mari not being high class. Let’s see…1) She’s rich; 2) She’s a business owner (who cares if it’s a casino?); 3) She wears high quality/cost clothing; and 4) She’s educated (they don’t know she’s from the Alejandro-Tobi Finishing School for wayward girls). What about her says she’s low class? As rich as she is, how can Karim assume no one would come looking for her if he kidnaps her?

Oh, what fun you had recapping last night cathyx. Wonderful recap! This was the first episode I actually paid real attention to for a long time. Crazy people!!

And our new #hash tag for this TN for stupid tirading characters should be #SHUTUPDORIS. Just brilliant. And I won't comment on her either...she's not worth the effort.

Carlos, you hit the nail on the head: "I don't think those guys could have kidnapped a homeless dog." Lucky dogs...But Emir Inflated Ego was totally outsmarted by Mr. Smooth Moves. Like we didn't know that would happen.

I agree on that kiss--sometimes you want to hide behind the five fingers to the face with actors who just don't have watchable lip action, but have to say these two did very nicely, thank you very much.

So Emir Inflated Ego is out for revenge. Yawn. And the Governator knows MC's little 15-lb secret ( I would think by now). Wonder how he'll use to that to his advantage...or will he? He did do a decent job standing up to his brat. Maybe he's a true blue guy.

Daisynjay

Great recap starting with the title, continuing on to "dancing like it's Sinatra music", "People, this show is no longer boring" and the marvelous refrain "Shut up Doris!"

Loved the smokin' hot kiss, come-up-for-air-and-kiss-s'more then so dazzled by it all, they don't notice the music had stopped, Hell, who needs music!?

Way to go, writers. Just when we were grumbling right and left you gave us a Pow! episode.

Also loved Octavio's justification for defending women...."I was born of a woman." Yesssir, respect your mama, respect all females. Well said.

Thanks CathyX. You had fun with this episode. So did we.

Thanks Cathyx, awsome recap!

The kidnapping was very LAME,- LOL Carlos that these guys couldn't kidnap a stray dog, you hit that right!

Shut up Doris, soooooo right! Can't stand her screeching!
She's a complete nutcase.

WOW, nice kiss, why can't we have more of that , HELLOOO WRITERS!! We need some smokin' hot scenes!

@Daniela, I'm already picturing Ed & Tony in the sauna, no need of towels.. :)

Thank you cathyx. You had me laughing this morning with---He might be oblivious but he's not stupid. And another laugh with---Doris rushes up to grab Octavio, [poor Octavio]One more good one was
Meanwhile, Doris is at her finest laying into her father and Octavio.
I hate this scene so much I will not recap it except to say "shut up
Doris!" My comment is--I loved the scene, Doris is a hoot. You go girl

Well many have been yelling boring
lack of action for some time now. Funny, in the beginning, there was plenty of action---but it was to
mean, to brutal. a kidnapping? Yes!
Well, last night you got your action with an attempted kidnapping
but the crowd still yells out for more. Maybe a membership in an action movie site would suffice.

The Maricruz/Octavio kiss at Kirim's party was hotter than a Halloween Bonfire. I wouldn't have believed it but the kiss even put my dvd recorder in meltdown mode. It stopped recording about a minute later. I frantically tried to get it working again but in the process, I missed pretty much all of the psycho's attempted kidnapping and Octavio's rescue. At
one point when I looked up, I saw Karim down with Octavio standing over him but that's all. I heard a lot of screaming and yelling but saw nothing more. I finally got the recorder working again but by then, the Governor was in MC's apartment trying to comfort her. I was so angry, I couldn't believe it
Ana Brenda's presence on the screen is so powerfull that even dvr's malfunction when recording her.

Carlos---Nice pictures of Audrey Hepburn yesterday but I have to ask
how many years---no, "decades" did you have to go back to find those pictures, that look? Maricruz is a
"very modern" woman with a very modern 2013 look which is smokin' hot and stylish I would say. I agree with you though about MC/MA's
makeup. She has a natural beauty and therefore a lot of makeup is not needed.
the gringo

Yayyyy! Finally a kiss... and a good one! I have to give props to MA's lipstick... not a single smear or mark on Octavio's face.

I really like these characters together. Sure Octavio's dense and misguided sometimes, but I really think they have great chemistry. Let's get this show on the road!

MA looked amazing, I was especially mesmerized by her hair. I don't mind the bun once in a while, but the flowing luxurious curls are definitely her best look. She's just gorgeous.

I hope things pick up from here!

oh, yes. It was funny episode and I like recap also very much.
If you don't mind. Some fotos. No spoilers, as usual.

Have only read the first few lines, Cathy, but just wanted to write something before I forget.

I love your ship name for Doris and Octavio - Dortavio - but could I raise you a Dorktavio instead? It seems so appropriate for that pair of idiots.

Thanks for the great recap! Nothing really to add to anyone else's comments except they now have a new introduction, number 3, that switches most of the action from the casino back to MC at the ranch. I don't even think Raiza or Carola are in the new intro. I've never seen a show that changes intros so often.

I was one of the ones that wasn't crazy about MA wearing red again but she looked amazing and the sheer cut-outs definitely upped the sexiness.

Gringo- No complaints today! The kidnapping spiced things up, just as we had all hoped. Plus we got some major lip action between Mari and Tav. Good episode all around. It would have only been made better had we had a Tobi and Solita sighting.

Ok, I'm all done reading the recap. I haven't watched the show yet, but you had me laughing all through your story, Cathy!

I loved out loud at "they're dancing like it's Sinatra" and your counting in slow motion when they kissed (I can picture you murmuring in your head)

YES, Tony is HAWT! Enough said!
I agree with you that if Tav finds out MA has a baby, that will mean nothing for him. Look at Ed, he has all that information and he's still clueless.

Daniela, I completely agree with your sauna idea; can we throw Tony into the mix, too?

The name of this TN s/b
Prosopagnosia

The inability to recognize a face, it runs rampant with these characters.

Vivi, hopefully we'll get more good episodes so we all get at least one while we are recapping. And I also agree with you about Doris assuming she's not of a high enough class as a casino owner. I'm sure she has more money that her father does. And at least he doesn't care about class as much as his snobby daughter.

Judy B, the first two times I read your line ' I was born of a woman', I read 'I was born a woman', lol.

Gringo, we want romance action, not degrade a person action, or kidnap someone action. But I must say that I thought MA dressed exclusively for you for the party.

Another Amy, I hadn't thought of the lipstick conundrum. MA must also have magic lipstick too since Octavio didn't have any smeared on him after such a passionate kiss.

Adriana, I actually watched the kissing scene three times and counted it two times since it seemed such a long time the first time I saw it. I wondered how long they were going at it so I decided to count.

I guess Oct never heard about sticking with the girl you brung.

Thanks so much Cathyx!

I had SOOOO hoped that they would accidentally kidnap the governor's daughter Doris by mistake and set off an international incident. [Doris having earlier kicked Maricruz out of some special room "because she didn't belong there."]

But, too bad, it didn't work out that way - :)

Doris certainly had some over-the-top rants to share. I guess she hasn't realized that no one actually does her bidding no matter how shrill she gets?

Audrey

CathyX -- Amazing recap. LOVED IT!! HAWT and Shut up Doris, kind of stuck in my head today.

Thanks again

Something wrong in the Gov's family when the daughter is more concerned about her father dancing with a woman than her boyfriend kissing, quite passionately, another woman. I would have slapped his face and walked out.

If Octavio keeps insisting that he's not interested in Doris, doesn't really take her seriously, doesn't plan a future with her ... why is he always with her and even calling her "mi amor" when he knows her snobby and childish, tantrum-throwing and possessive ways? What can we call him that is even more oblivious than oblivio, other than estupido?

^^^ Haha, Anon 05:34, finding new adjectives for Octavio is always difficult.
You know how most tns galans are lacking in brain activity...but with poor Octavio it didn't just rain, it poured...
He has no clue what he's getting himself into, he says he likes MA but he does nothing to win her - no matter how rude she is, how cold, when has this ever stopped a man, especially in a tn?

Anon at 5:34pm, thanks for the reminder about Octavio calling Doris mi amor. I meant to comment about that after yesterday's recap. If he's not that into her, why was he calling her that? And then he's surprised that she thinks he's committed to her.

Good point Carvivlie, she was certainly more upset by her father's actions than by Octavio's.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

I'm so late to this, but thank you so much Cathyx!

Everyone has already heaped praise on it, but your whole line about Shut up, Doris was perfect. She was a serious piece of PITA bread last night.

Dortavio was funny, too!

About kiss. I think it was a problem with adaptation. In marimar there was no kiss in this episode. The main couple dance together and galan try to kiss her in a cheek and it wasn't realy successful. That it why reaction was so cool. Here the whole scene is the same. They added this kiss, but left the reaction.
Alegria

Alegria- Just another example that these writers did not work to earn their salaries.

Cathyx thanks. Guys, regarding the Oblivious, we can all blame useless Eduardo for all the great advice he gives Octavio. Yeah, I was also indignant about that "Mi amor" thing.
Why is there a tint of unholy relationship in that governor's family. The way, the son reproached the sister about her being jealous. The way Doris was ranting about her being jealous because her brother was eyeing MC. Hmmm. What a crazy family!!!

Thanks for the recap, Cathy!

Karim reminds me of a character from Robin Hood (I don't remember which one), but I always remember this line.

"No more merciful beheadings, no more scraps for the homeless and call off Christmas!"
