Corazon Indomable #77 The Truth It Must Be Told

I can’t believe it’s my turn again for the recap. Didn’t I just do it?

Here's part 1:

We start with MA informing Miguel that she’s calling in her debt. Miguel says that he needs time to repay her but MA wants it now. She therefore wants the ranch. Miguel says he won’t part with the ranch and MA says there’s one way to keep the ranch, it’s to have Lucia come to ask for the IOUs.

Miguel runs to Octavio to cry on his shoulder. He mentions that MC wants to put him in jail if he doesn’t pay up, even after he was the one who got her out of jail. Thankfully, Oblivio fired up his brain this morning and reminds Miguel that it was his wife that put her wrongfully in jail in the first place. He tells him that MC wants Lucia to go see her, so that she can humiliate her. Yes! Me too! But wait. Captain Oblivio has a plan. He’ll go instead. Wait, what? That’s the plan? That’ll work against a woman who spends night and day plotting her revenge against people she despises. Except your not that cute Oblivio.
Meanwhile, MC is mulling in her vengeance, planning how Lucia will beg for forgiveness and how MC will feel no pity, just like Lucia didn’t for her.  I hope MC does it with that crazy person stare too, just like Lucia does so well.

Octavio arrives at MA’s office. He says hello to MC but she informs him that she’s MA. He counters that she’s MC until she can prove otherwise. And how can she do that she asks? Now, I fully expected him to walk up to her and plant one on her because he would know by the way she kisses, but he doesn’t do that. I guess he’s kissed MA before and didn’t figure it out then. He says she can prove it in front of a judge. She says that that’s an act of war asking for that. Explain yourself son.

Lucia is pressing Miguel for the dirt on what happened with MA. She keeps talking in that whispery voice that grates on my every last nerve. And that clingy thing too. Hate that too. She’s worried that Miguel will be old Miguel who hates Lucia, but Miguel says that won’t happen. She blames herself for everything and he tells he no it isn’t. BUT IT IS YOU DUMMY. He promises his faith and loyalty to Lucia that they are in this together. Ok, are an idiot and you have proven why you deserve everything MA will do to you.

Octavio wants to start at the beginning of them as a couple. She interrupts to say that she doesn’t like the sound of him saying ‘us’ so he changes it to talk of himself. He says that he married Maricruz Olivares, that’s what was on her birth certificate, but now Maria Alejandra Mendoza is asking him for a divorce. And she is making a big mistake. She has committed fraud with 2 ID’s. She says they are the same person, but he says she has to prove that in court. She says that she is MA and can prove it. She’s not responsible for what her parents did in her name when she was a baby. And the law won’t stop her in getting back at what the Narvaez have done to her. And it will be merciless!!!!! Love it.

Octavio says that she has no feelings when it comes to children, implying that she wouldn’t help Miguelito with the money for surgery. She fires back that he had no mercy when he met a child who he ends up marrying for the sole purpose to get back at his brother and sister in law. He’s glad that she’s better now, he doesn’t have to feel guilty. Guilty? she says. He never felt guilt when he left her crying and begging not to leave her. He reminds her of her shooting him to keep him, but he’s still not scared of her. Well, your brother is, and that’s alright with MA. He’ll go to jail. Octavio says that won’t happen while he’s engaged to Doris, and MA says that it will since she’s the Gov’s woman right now. He says that he will not let his daughter grow up with such vileness and threatens to take Lupita away from her. That gets MA’s fears going. He can’t take her because the law says that the mother keeps the babies. He reminds her that the law only lets her keep the babies until their 5. Then the father can have the baby. MA says over his dead body. Get out, she shouts. He reminds her of how much she wanted him around when they were first together. That’s because I was naive, she replies. He grabs her to remind her of how great his touching is. That’s not the way to show that, Oblivio.
Finally, there’s some unintended comic relief as Octavio fumbles with the door knob as he storms out.

Miguel visits Raiza. He tells her he’s leaving the casino. She says he can’t because he needs to work to pay his debts. He says MA hates him and he doesn’t want to continue to work there. Raiza says that MA must have her reasons for hating him then. He says she doesn’t know anything, but she says she knows lots of things. Now Miguel wants to know what she knows. She says that it’s worrisome to be around a man haunted by his debts not knowing what he will be capable of, and that’s part of MA’s problem with him. He says she must feel that way too then, but she accidentally replies that it isn’t actually her debt. Now the cat is out of the bag. She finishes by telling him that MA was the one who gave the money and wanted it to appear that it came from Raiza. Miguel now knows that this too is part of Maricruz’s revenge.

Ester gets a visit from her neighbor. She wants to help her if she needs it and to find out more about her situation. Why is Ester there? She believes she must bow to her husband and do what he wants. She likes it in the shack. Not even nosy neighbor believes that one. Nosy neighbor says her name is Clorinda. And Clorinda thinks it’s because she’s heard the rumors that there’s gold in them thar river. Why else would a woman of means want to live in the freelands?

Part 2:

Ed is calculating his wedding expenses. He asks Octavio if he will be the wedding godfather. Octavio says one only needs a godfather for a church wedding. But Ed is having a church wedding, so there. The who’s the godmother he asks. Areceli is going to ask MA. Que?!? She’s crazy, remember she tried to shoot him? But she has a lot of money now so there’s that. Well, Oblivio agrees to set aside his personal feelings and walk Areceli down the aisle. But he won’t walk the godmother down the aisle.

Areceli informs Ed that she was talking to Sonia about asking ‘that casino lady’ to be her  madrina. Yes, what was that casino lady’s name again? Maria Alejandra, yeah, that’s it. She wants her to be her madrina. They’re real close. That’s why she called her that casino lady. But Ed thinks that wouldn’t be good because Octavio won’t want to hold her hand walking down the aisle. Sonia thinks if they just don’t say anything to anyone, it will work out fine. Good plan.

Octavio runs into Miguel who is contemplating his life. Octavio says he just came from seeing MC and she’s as wild as she was before. He tried to tame her and control her but he couldn’t. Can you believe it? And all she said was that she was going to get back at all the Narvaez’s. He told MC that he could destroy her by marrying Doris, and all MC said was that she will have more power over him because she is the governor’s lover. Miguel agrees and said that she planned all this by making him sign the IOUs by holding a gun to his head. No she didn’t hold a gun to your head you lameOh, you signed them with your own free will. Then he tells Octavio that it was MC who gave the money for the operation. Miguel still has some savings (he does? Why didn’t he use it for the operation?) and wonders if he should give it to her. Octavio says no, he needs it for his son.  No, the Narvaez dummies are realizing how screwed they are right now. Octavio says they hurt MC very badly and now they have to deal with MA who is vengeful, ambitious, and determined. And now it’s Lucia’s turn to face MA and MA’s wrath. Can’t wait!

Clorinda is still talking with Ester. They both look hot and sweaty and it’s making me uncomfortably hot and sweaty too. Clorinda says it’s not true about the gold, and she’s still wondering why someone from the big house is living there and doesn’t trust Ester. Then she tells Ester that she’s also the curandera and will help her to deliver the baby.
Areceli and Ed pay a visit to moneybags, I mean that casino lady, I mean Maria Alejandra. He tells MA that they are getting married. MA is surprised by this news and Ed said that it’s because Teo was holding a gun to his head to force him to marry. Haha, Ed, Areceli said Teo just wanted them to clarify their relationship and Teo wouldn’t actually hurt a fly. Ed didn’t want to risk it so he asked Areceli to marry him. So they ask her if she would be la madrina de la boda. MA graciously accepts. Then they inform her that Octavio will be the padrino. No problem, she says. But Ed has one more zinger. He may invite Doris. Again, no problem. She’ll invite the governor. All will be fine.

Santa visits Simona. She needs to talk to her about JA and Ester. Apparently Ester doesn’t like Santa, not sure why. Anyway, they talk about the Narvaez ranch being cursed and about Miguelito having epilepsy. About JA working for Simona and Awfelia visiting a sick sister and hasn’t come back. There’s no one to take care of the ranch. Santa offers to go back and live at the ranch while it’s empty and take care of it. The decide to go there and see it.

JA comes home from work. He wants a hot shower and orders Ester to get the water heated. She says she doesn’t even have water to drink, so what to do? JA (which now stands for Jack Ass) orders her to go to the river and bring it back. Pregnant country women don’t stop working because they’re 6 months pregnant. Hop to it! She finds a bucket and JA agrees to get it today, but she will have to get it from now on. She looks at him with love in her eyes. Barf!

Santa and Simona are at the ranch and Santa thinks it would be a good idea if she brought her niece to the ranch to help her. Simona says she’ll hire someone to watch the house at night. Santa wants to know if it’s true that Ester and JA have no furniture. Simona says it is true but it’s Ester’s own fault. Santa blames everything of the Maricruz curse. Simona dismisses such folly. It’s the fault of irresponsible people. Miguel never managed the ranch properly, Octavio because he never cared about the ranch and then married a wild girl only to leave her when he was bored with her, and don’t forget Luciafer and her jealousy. But what about Miguelito? Santa thinks that he’s also part of the curse. No, his parents were irresponsible and he fell down stairs. Santa wants to stick with the curse idea though.

Finally, the moment we’ve been waiting for. Lucia is wearing her power dress and shoes as she does the perp walk to MA’s office, in slow motion for effect too. Teal blue pumps with a raspberry dress. Clashes with her red hair. MC gets the call. It’s Tony!! he’s still working at the casino. Lucia has arrived. She thumbs through the stack of Miguel’s IOUs as Luciafer walks in. They say hello and stare at each other.

No, no, no. We have to waste precious time with ShutUpDoris talking with Mariana. Mariana doesn’t understand why SUD wants to go to the stupid wedding. Mariana says that if her dad goes, she would go too. But SUD doesn’t want daddy there because then she would have to behave. Not sure why that would make any difference since it never has before.

No, no, no. Now we are wasting more time with Ed talking to Octavio. Octavio wants to know who the madrina is, hoping it’s not some old lady. Ed says it’s a friend of a friend, elegant and refined. Did they mention the wedding to Doris? Doris invited herself, he tells him. Of course she did. Cut to Areceli being the happiest person alive when a envelop slips under her door. She opens it and it’s a check for $3000 for the honeymoon from MA. Already the decision to ask MA to be the madrina has paid off. Kach-ing!

Finally, back to MA and Luciafer. Lucia says that she heard she wanted to see her. Yes, MA has decided to cash in the IOUs from Miguel. If he doesn’t pay her back in one week, he will go to jail. Big smile.

Finally, back to MA and Luciafer. Lucia says that she heard she wanted to see her. Yes, MA has decided to cash in the IOUs from Miguel. If he doesn’t pay her back in one week, he will go to jail. Big smile.

No, no, no. Back to SUD. They are talking about a wedding gift, who cares, $200 check, fast forward.
At the same time the gov is writing a check for $1000 for a gift. Hurry up! The shows almost over.

MA insists that Lucia call her Maricruz. Lucia pleads for mercy, but MC replies that Luciafer showed no mercy to her in the past. But MC says that they can make a deal that will alleviate the situation a bit. Lucia is all over that and wants to do whatever it is. Since Miguel was drunk when he signed these, there are no expiration dates on them and she can call them in at any time. So now MC is ready with a deal. But we have to wait until tomorrow to hear what it is. Darn!

Comments:
Ester has to be crazy. JA's attitude about her and the water was so neanderthal. Let me take that back, maybe she isn't crazy, just stupid or a combo plate of both.

Well, the mud is coming and it looks like there will be a full complement of witnesses. Too bad Maricruz didn't plan to do the mud exercise in private since those who don't know her whole story are apt to think she is crazy, too.

Come to think of it there are a whole bunch of characters dancing on the edge of sanity in this one.
Probably the long lost monkey was the only fully sane one.

Jarifa

Jarifa, the monkey is busy rewriting the script.

Cathyx, I love your explanation!
That made me laugh.

Jarifa

Great Part 1 Cathyx.

Goody, I get to be the first to rip into Oblivio for his performance last night. If there was ever any doubt that this guy doesn't live up to the title "galan", last night was the proof. Not only was he unapologetic, he was defiant, and spiteful (this time the threat to take away Lupita was all about jealousy because Mari had just said she was the Gov's lover)! Why does Mari still love this guy?

Lucia looked fabulous as she sashayed down that hallway to meet Mari. Looks like she finally gets her date with mud. But surely Mari doesn't intend to forgive the debt (and give back the rights to the ranch), just because Lucia is going to eat some mud?

Clever move and Ara and Ed's part getting a rich Madrina for their wedding. I guess it makes up for the poor loser they have for a Padrino. Tav sure as heck isn't able to write a $3,000 check to anybody right now.

Tks mucho cathyx

Wonder what Lucia is going to have to retrieve out of the mud, probably the IOU's. Bury them deep MC.

Lucia didn't really seem to love Miguel that much, but I guess she doesn't want to lose the ranch. There can't be any redemption for her, she murdered abuelo.

Ester didn't seem to be this stupid in the beginning.

I'm sure the courts are going to give custody to a pilot over a wealthy, loving (part time) mother. Octavio just gets dumber & dumber, make that dumbest.

I can't even begin to explain how my blood boiled when JA berated his heavily pregnant wife for not hiking down to the river to get him buckets of water to bathe with. A woman who has never done something like that before, even when not pregnant. Grrr...

Are there any good men in this tn?!

Cathyx thanks so much for your recap. And loved (and agree) he monkey is writing the script!

Vivi - Yes! It seems unbelievable that Tav could sink any lower but the writers or the monkey, who may want to be the better Tav, keep dragging him down to new lows. And his "midas" touch of MA was more like a prelude to rape. How I long for DA's best character (I've seen) Willie boy.

Yes it looks like mud tonight but I don't see that being enough for MA. Someone's going to jail and b/c of her abuelo's death she's got a legitimate reason (though probably no proof yet).

Jarifa - yes MA may look crazy to others but if she scares Doris away, this could be a good thing.

Variopinta - Ester wasn't stupid at the start. The writers have made her loose her mind b/c she wanted to be with a man and not alone like Simone; We all know who the winner is there.

Vivi - Tobias and our dearly departed Don A are the only good men in this TN.

Thanks for the reminder Karen. One in dead, and the other gets no screen time.

Appreciate the recap Part 1 this morning cathyx. I was out to dinner and didn't get home until later in the show. (And for some reason locally it went over the 8 time slot).

Anyhoo...right now I'm having a hard time doing too much "cheering" with anyone person. (Love your monkey comment Jarifa--yep only sane one in the bunch next to all the babies).
Everyone seems to take a step forward and then two steps back in whether you want to support them 100%.

I really get where MA/MC is coming from, but she has become so obsessed with this journey of vengeance that I think there is going to be a terrible let down even if she manages to get Lucia groveling at her feet. She'll be stuck with the same strange alliances and certainly won't have the man of her dreams (which right now might be a nightmare--cute or not. If he wasn't so darn good with Lupita I would say kick him to the curb for good.)

Can I just say, I don't like the color pink, but those two really rocked those dresses last night. But it was a WTH moment with Lucia again--supposedly hurting for money, about to lose the ranch and DANG that women never wears the same dress twice and always donned with fab jewelry. Sell all that and maybe they could have paid for their child's surgery themselves???

So we do get the mud tonight complete with a party to go with it. MC should serve cocktails. Can't see Lucia getting dirty for anyone so maybe we get the grovel instead?

I can't even on Ester. Love is love, but her attitude seems more like desperation to me to hold unto a man at any cost for fear of being alone.(I remember that convo she had with Lucia once.) JA needs a good slap up the side of the head.

Daisynjay

Karen-- I loved Willy Boy too. Let's see, a fling with Willy boy and settling down with Tohlias. Some how this morning that sounds really good.

Definitely a great part 1 Cathyx! Thanks for covering so much of the Tav-Mari face off dialog.

Yep, after last night I'm joining the "I hate Oblivio" club. He was disgusting!

He acknowledges what was done to her (at least part of it) but it really doesn't seem to matter to him. He'd rather stand with his family - absolutely no consideration for the poor young woman whose life he turned into a living hell. And now that she can fight back, he's more interested in piling on more venganza.

He implied to his brother that he brought out the "big guns" and threats simply in an attempt to intimidate Maricruz and that it didn't work. But the threats sure sounded real to me!

Lucia was definitely wearing a power dress, LOL!

Thank you Cathyx for a great part 1

That was sure some rumble in mariale's office. Oblivio is going from bad to worse, the same as JA. I can't believe the way JA is treating Ester, WHY? She is giving up everything to live in a shack with him and he treates her like dirt. I can't help but wonder, is he really that bad or is he testing
Ester's loyality and love? Either way, I don't like him very much right now.

I heard Maricruz say---"on one condition." I can't believe that Mari will give up the rancho that she now practically has for a few minutes of mud humiliation. WHAT???
That can't be. Lucifer get's a little mud/dirt on her makeup, goes through a few minutes of public humilitation and then walks away forgiven and a winner. After all the looking into the camera and swearing vengeance over and over again, THIS IS IT??? QUE??? I will be SOOOOOO disappointed if this is all that Lucicer has to endure. And by the way---The way that Oblivio has been acting lately, neither sorry or remorseful
but instead actively defiant, a little vengeance should be thrown his way too. How are these two going to kiss and make up in the end, I can't even imagine.
the gringo

Gringo- My beanie will truly explode when these two get a felices para siempre at the end of this mess.

I am guessing that Mari will pull some sort of dirty trick on Lucia (pun intended) so that even if she eats mud, Mari still takes the ranch.

Mari thinks she is getting vengeance on Tav by preventing him marrying Doris (would be good for him), and making him jealous with the Gov (bad idea all around, and she is just as jealous of him with Doris). It's not working. Nothing works on Teflon Tav.

Another unbelievably dumb bit of dialog from Esther. After the lecture about expecting a heavily pregnant woman to drag water from the river, Ester wonders why JA didn't bring her any food, and then a lightbulb comes on and she says "Oh, was I supposed to make food too?"

Gah, writers! Please!

"Lucia is pressing Miguel for the dirt on what happened with MA. She keeps talking in that whispery voice that grates on my every last nerve. And that clingy thing too. Hate that too."

Excellent CathyX. Lucia is sooo annoying right now. And was sooo AWFUL back at the ranch. Redemption just doesn't seem possible. But we've been surprised before. Will the humiliation open up her heart to understanding the pain Maricruz went through? or will it harden her heart even more?

Agree with everybody else that the Ester/JA story is not believable at all. Jarifa, loved your take on it--she's either "crazy, stupid or a combo plate of both."

I'm voting for the combo plate.

Hope the mud mud mud tease isn't just that...a tease. I think we ALL want to see Lucia dig a bunch of IOU's out of the fango with her lovely teeth.

Thanks for Part I Ms. Cathy. Most enjoyable.

OMG Audrey! That was the limit!

"Why didn't he bring me any food? Oh, am I supposed to go buy/find the food and cook it! No wonder I've been feeling so weak (because of the lack of food)?!" Gah!

Has JM given her money to buy the food, or is she supposed to forage around for/steal it like Mari and Solita did? Does she know where the market is? Is she supposed to carry the groceries back by foot? (JM has a horse, doesn't he?) I know at Simona's ranch he's getting hearty meals along with the rest of the staff. Meanwhile his PREGNANT mujer is going without food.

She's taking the time to give him academic lessons. Maybe he should actually take the time to show her how to do this stuff, and what's needed.

Thanks so much for the part 1 recap! I kinda understood what Tav was saying to MA but I didn't understand her responses. They were better than I thought.

JA doesn't love Esther and is just using her to work out his anger at the Narvaez. Esther needs to take that spine she showed with Lucia and walk away or start acting like the tough girl we know she can be.

I must admit I didn't expect public humiliation for Lucia. I wonder if this spectacle will do MA more harm than good in the eyes of those outside of this family circle. If I was the Guv I would be seriously rethinking my marriage proposal to this woman. And as Araceli, I might want to return the check and offer of madrina. MA is coming across at crazy. On another note, in the previews Lucia doesn't look dressed for swimming in mud. It would be nice if Solita with baby was present.

I haven't even read the recap, but the title is hilarious.

@cathyx - Excellent part 1. Looking forward to part 2.

@gringo - not to worry. In what little we saw last night of the meeting between MC and Lucia, MC told her that there was an alternative, though it was "not a complete resolution" but rather "una tregua" ("a truce"); in other words, she is not about to lose her money in exchange for a little mud.

Oh, another sign of the laziness of the writers - the amount that MA gave to the lovebirds ($3,000) is the same amount that Marimar gave in the 1994 version - the same amount of money as 19 years ago, so they didn't even bother revising the script to adjust it for inflation. lol

Latina- That's hilarious. Cost of living hasn't changed much in Mexico in 20 years. Yeah, right!

Thanks for a great part one cathyx. Very funny...

"He’ll go instead. Wait, what? That’s the plan?"

I'm loving your style and I'm awed by your endurance. Doesn't the writing for this show make you long for the writers of Un Gancho Al Corazón (the show about the lady boxer that you admired so much)? See? ... things can always (and often do) get worse.

I'm appalled by the mudlust you guys are demonstrating. Am I the only one dreading seeing an unfortunate but always glamorous Lucía's inevitable confrontation with the muck and mire?

José Antonio... what a dolt. I never did care for him very much.

And how about Clorinda? Who wouldn't want her attending the birth of their first child? Run away Ester... run away.

Carlos

I was wondering why Octavio wouldn't try to get alimony from Maricruz, but I've since read that in Mexico in case of a divorce each one owns only what's under his/her name.

So Octavio took no financial risk in marrying Maricruz to spite his brother and sister-in-law. But, on the other hand, by sending money to Miguel on behalf of Maricruz, he was also trying to do more than he was financially liable for.

thanks, Cathyx. I HATE ALMOST ALL OF THESE PEOPLE....with the exception of 1) the babies 2) Solita 3) Tobias

Mud canopies and cocktails on the patio at five-ish. Que the hell ?

And Ester...What are you doing ?

Part 2 is finally up. Sorry it is so long, but I couldn't leave out details of this important episode.

Oh man, this is nuts! Let me start with JA and Ester, I don't care if Lenny Kravitz, Derek Fisher and Rick Fox all lived in the little hut with me, there's no way in heck that I'd move to a place with no clean water and food. Ester had no idea where to get food! And let me add that if I were about to have a baby I'd expect my baby daddy to at least get me a Big Mac or else!

Audrey and Vivi, maybe Ester is supposed to gather oranges and potatoes for dinner.

Carlos, do I long for Un Gancho al Corazon? We'll have to see with this one since we're only half way so far.

who's gonna yell "Girl mud fight, yay!!!!!!!"
Lucia looks stunning in that power red dress!!!! She's just gonna ruin it with mud!!!!
Vivi, no kettle can hold our boiling seething blood over the Galans in this TN. But wait.. why all of a sudden, Eduardo seem to be transforming to a gracious selfless galan?
I love that the monkey is writing this tn. That explains everything.
Gringo- exactly. I feel that there is total irreconcilable emotion between this two. Do you think they will give this tn a 60s European ending and not a Disney one?

@Aleta - re your comment that you have "...read that in Mexico in case of a divorce each one owns only what's under his/her name", that is not entirely correct. When people get married in Mexico, they have the option of marrying under two distinct legal regimens: "bienes separados" ("separate property") or "bienes mancomunados" ("community property" - except that this kind of community property includes not just property obtained during the marriage, but also ALL property owned by each party prior to the marriage.) So your comment is only correct if people marry under the regimen of "bienes separados".

I think in Mexico, inheritances occurring after marriage are not community property, just like in the US. Aleta was wondering about alimony too.

Octavio must has gotten married by bienes separados anyway, to protect himself financially, because otherwise Maricruz would already have claim to half of his half of the ranch by virtue of being his wife.

Question: why do the English cc's refer to MA and Octavio as "godmother" and "godfather" for Arcelay/Ed's wedding? We usually reserve these terms for a baptism. Since I do not speak Spanish, I was wondering what phrases they are using. For "godmother" are they saying madrina de la boda? This can be translated as 'godmother of the wedding' But of course they mean MA is going to be the 'maid of honor' (which could be translated as dama de honor de la boda). As for Octavio, "el padrino de la boda" seems to be able to be translated as either "best man" or "godfather of he wedding". Any clarification?

Anon- The padrinos of the wedding are not the same as the best man, and maid/matron of honor. There is an implied financial commitment. In a way, the padrinos are taking the place of the padres/parents. Hence, as the padrino, Tav is walking Aracely down the aisle, unlike a best man.

Thanks Cathyx for a great recap. My favorite also:

"He'll go instead. Wait, what? That's the plan?"

I agree that JA now stands for jackass.

Carlos: your "mudlust" comment is priceless! What a colorful way to describe it. I hope Luciafer eats a few bugs while she's at it.

I have a feeling the actual mud eating will be drawn out tonight and we won't actually see it until Friday.

Thanks, Cathyx. I loved your recap and all the snarky asides.
Having trouble with most of the characters--they say one thing one day, something opposite the next. I'm willing to roll with it, but it makes me dizzy.
Our selfish, sophisticated Ed has been hit with Goofy Galan Syndrome ever since he agreed to a big wedding. Symptoms include a constantly nodding head and a big cheesy grin.

Loriloo, I hope they don't drag out the confrontation between MC and Lucia. It's the only thing to look forward to.

La Paloma, Ed has that goofy grin because he knows he's finally gonna get some once they're married.

Vivi: thanks for the explanation for madrina/padrino. I wondered myself but have heard it so many times I figured it was an elevated position for the witnesses.

Is the mud buffet happening at Ari's/Ed's wedding? Will they actually get married?

In Amor Bravio, Mariano, Camila and Dan served as the Padrinos for Luzma and Pablo's wedding. Camila and Dan paid for the food and festivities, Mariano paid for the honeymoon, and Dan walked Luzma down the aisle.

JA, Ester and Eduardo have all gone through complete personality transformations, none of them for the better. Well, it's better that Eduardo isn't being a big jerk, but they've completely changed him into a goofy "yes man" for Aracely. As big a jerk as he was, it is somewhat unbelievable that he would turn into such a wuss overnight. Somewhere in-between would've been much better.

Lucia's humiliation of Maricruz in the mud was just between them (and deaf mute Solita). She could've easily denied it in front of others "who, me? I wouldn't do THAT! I have too much class" - although she never denied it. But with the audience that MA has gathered for her venganza, she is leaving herself open for attack. As someone said, those who don't know the back story will think her crazy. Those who don't think her crazy will think her mean or evil. And those who don't care either way will probably just steer clear of her in the future. MA is not doing herself any favors by gathering all those people. She should've had only Octavio and Manuel there, possibly Raiza. If Solita were there, she wouldn't like it. I think she would be disappointed that MA could stoop to Lucia's level.

Thanks for a great part two, cathyx. Well done. I'm also looking for the second half of this to show improvement or at least become a bit more coherent.

I'm hoping for Clorinda to become a little less scary. I like my curanderas to be mysterious but caring and lovable. Well at least she says that she's never lost a patient or a baby, is that a good thing or could it portend misfortune for Ester and the baby?

LoriLoo,

"I have a feeling the actual mud eating will be drawn out tonight and we won't actually see it until Friday."

Noooo! I don't like the idea of Lucía getting stuck in the mud in the first place and guess who's up to recap Friday's episode.

Carlos

Anon- You are so right that Solita would not like to be witness to the mud revenge. Although she can't speak, we know what a gentle soul Solita is, and how much she hates seeing ugly emotions and anger. Despite not being able to hear and speak, or perhaps because of it, she is the most intuitive and sensitive character in this tn.

Just thinking about what she went through-- the rape, watching her grandfather's murder, seeing Mari's arrest, and being abandoned by Mari multiple times (very similar to the way Tav abandoned Mari)-- I want Solita to continue to live a life of peace with Tobi, her baby, and Justa. She really doesn't need to be pulled into Mari's vengeance mess-- always trying to read Mari's stormy/unhappy face to figure out what's happening and trying to comfort/soothe her.

Ay Carlos, pobrecito! If the mud eating recap does fall to you I'm sure you will do us proud. Just tell yourself that Luciafer is only a few rungs higher up the ladder of evil than the Kimodo Dragon lady in AB!

Here’s some more info on Padrinos I found, which is better translated as “sponsor” than as godparent in the context of weddings:

In modern Mexican weddings, you can really add as many as you feel comfortable with, so that no one person or couple has a large financial burden. There are such things as padrinos for: the church flower arrangements and decorations (arreglo de iglesia), the banquet/dinner/food/cake/drinks, the music/mariachi, the DJ, the limo, the photographer, the champagne glasses, etc, etc. If the couple has a big family, then can give everyone an option to be a padrino of something big or small so that they all feel included.

And of course there are the non-financial support Padrinos who participate in the ceremony itself: lazo (placing the lasso around the couple), aras (giving the groom the coins he places in the bride’s hands), etc.

I've decided that if I ever get married, I'm having a Mexican-style wedding. I'd have a padrino/madrina for everything! Not a cent would come out of my pocket.

Vivi - the padrinos de lazo, arras, and vela (candle) also buy the item they are sponsoring. I've been a madrina de lazo, pastel, limo, flores and musica (not for the same wedding/quinceanera, of course) - I could've thrown a wedding all by myself! LOL

Anon- Hopefully the aras, lazos, and candles don't cost too much. Those are the ones I would volunteer to cover. :)

Vivi - :-)

My daughter once wanted to be a madrina de guest book for her cousin's wedding (she was about ten at the time) - and they let her. She had a blast. She felt so important and made sure everybody signed it! :-)

Aw! That's sweet. Heck, I'd volunteer to be that madrina too!

Oooo I've heard this lazos can get pretty expensive!

As for Ester's neighbor, Clorinda is the name of one of the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella (at least the operatic version). I don't expect nothin' good to come of her birthin' skills.
Anon-A

Oh, no! I think that means they've signed us up for a demonstration!

You know, that Clorinda is the woman from the prison where MC was? And an actress is the daughter of India Maria
Alegria

Sorry that I am late for part two, I had out of town company for lunch

Cathyx---you had great zingers in part two also.---Araceli and Ed pay
a visit to moneybags,I mean the casino lady,I mean Mari Alejandra.

JA which now stands for JackAss. ITA

SUD doesn't want daddy there because then she would have to behave. Not sure why that would make any difference sinse it never has before. Hilarious

Doris invited herself, he tells him
of course she did. LOL

Carlos---YES!!! MUDLUST!!! Let Lucifer get some mud on her wild evil eyes, and Mari should throw in a catus patch for her to walk through as well.

Susanlynn---Mud canopies and cocktales on the patio at five.
I love it.

Eli---A Big Mac? Are you dreaming?

Vida2---I must admit that at this point, I have no idea.

LoriLoo---Bugs and mud for Lucifer,
sounds good to me.

Cathyx---You are right about Ed's
big grin.

can't wait for tonight. I hope that Mari's plan doesn't backfire
as some have said. People may think that she has gone too far. I hope that she tells the crowd--why.

Yes, I agree, that was a power dress that Lucifer was wearing last night. Let's see how much power is left after Maricruz gets through with her.
the gringo

Maybe this will turn into mud wrestling, go señoras!

Tobias is a keeper.
JA has turned into a macho asshole.
His true love is or was MC, so I don't think he loves Ester, just wanted someone to boss around & sleep with. I liked him at first.

Latina, funny comment about inflation.

Vivi, tks so much for identifying Lovely from MEPS. That voice would have driven me crazy trying to figure out where I heard & saw her.

I didn't see the other novela, but hard to believe it could have been worse.

I was going to say that when UA has a "worst galan ever" weekend discussion, I'd vote for this guy, but I just don't think there is any competition. Loved how he said he was going to put her in her place. What place would that be? her place of poverty where you left her to rot? Her place of ignorance that you did nothing to correct? Jerk.

And how can he possible think (ha ha, think!) that he's a better parent? He'll be busy flying around or whatever someone appointed to the air force does, while Doris takes care of the kid? Yeah, that's better. I'm with Susanlynn. I hate everyone. But I might add Teo and Aracely and Ed to the list of possible exceptions (or in a mildly annoying category). Teo after all did try to order Aracely around, Ed was a butthead, and Aracely loves him. But at least she made him marry her before any nookie, and he is actually going through with it and seems to really love her (and he has that piggy bank of love to prove it), and Teo is (was?) a hunchback so he gets a pass.

What happened to Teo? And which one, Teo or Angel, will come to the wedding? I hope it's Angel. I'm ready for a reveal.

But thank god they keep using everyone's first and last names. Because with so many Octavios and Maricruzes in their lives, I'd get confused as to which one they were referring to.

Kelly

Kelly- Teo/Angel is in Paris with Karim, so he won't be at the wedding.

Interesting about the curandera, Alegria.

Gringo-Can't say I'm into mud wrestling, unless Cristian de la Fuente is wrestling William Levy. Ahem.

Kelly, our Galan is definitely in the running. Although he'll have a fight with Damian of Abismo de Pasion.

Octavio has Damien beat by a mile, at least Damien wasn't estupido ALL the time. I don't remember one enlightened moment with Oblivio.

Damian always sided with mommy. Sorry ladies with sons, I hate a momma's boy.

cathyx
Sorry to tell you this but WL says he's a mama's boy.

That won't matter when he's in the mud with CdlF wrestling in tiny shorts.

Cathyx...HA !!! I nearly fell on the floor after I read that one liner. ...a classic , for sure. !!
