La Tempestad, Cap. 21, Monday, August 26: GLORIA'S RECAP
Labels: tempestad
Gloria was having technical problems so she asked one of us to post her recap for her. I haven't read it closely yet, but as far as I can tell, it's a lulu. Enjoy!
Thanks for this most marvelous recap! Sorry you had problems posting.
Herny is an idiot! All his mis planes go wrong. Karma is talking to him, but he isn't listening. I know he couldn't possibly have known that Marina would end up at the plant that time of night, but still! I hope he never succeeds with Marina or ruining Mercedes and DamFab.
I like that we now know about Ariel and the twins and that he was the baby daddy of those twins. So he only married Bea cause she was ill. Like DamFab only married Pester to save her reputation. Hmmm......
I wonder what Fully is ever gonna do about Lazaro. I think he quite enjoys knowing he has a son, even though he has never acknowledged him.
Mercedes was sure giving herself away. I'm surprised Bea didn't catch on, but I think Tia Becky did. She kept giving Mercedes the strangest looks. I think Tia Becky is gonna figure it out before long.
Pester really didn't think about the consequences of marrying DamFab. She is really naïve in a way. DamFab will have a hard time getting rid of her. Cross your fingers DamFab, cause she isn't letting you loose anytime soon.
I am really liking Tia Becky and her joie de vivre and Jose for his tact and watching out for Mercedes.
This is the second time that Hernan almost kills Marina accidentally. Dude really needs to make sure that Marina is safe the next time he wants to blow something up or set something on fire.
There was this long pause before Hernan grabbed Damian's hand and let him help him get to safety. Hernan also told Damian that he owed him one and that was when Damian told him that they were even.
Tia Rebeca did notice Mercedes' worrying way too much about Marina. I liked the looks that Jose was giving Mercedes to stop making the truth so obvious.
My favorite parts of this were all in paragraphs...like:
(What most women want to hear, but not Jaz) and
(What a freaking idiot!)
Even better though was the Tantrum Algebra: "one per 3 and 1/2 hours"
Yes, Estercita is overachieving when it comes to berrinches.
But for some reason, what really cracked me up was:
"José, with his superhuman strength, holds them back."
Oh my, can't wait to see those lovely biceps in action. Sure hope the actor is wearing a short-sleeved shirt.
Now, does anyone else think our lovely, fun Tia Rebeca needs a 12-step program? I know, I know...she's the life of the party, especially compared to that depressive drudge Beatriz, but still...Just sayin'
This was an exciting episode, and a very interesting one given Mercedes nearly giving herself away, seeing more of the past of how Ariel ended up with Marina, and Hernan acknowledging that he owes Damian.
Tia Becky definitely was giving Mercedes major side eye. She will figure this out quickly I think. I also liked how Jose helped keep Mercedes in check with just a look. He's a great guy to have your back.
Judy- You are not the only one who has thought Tia Becky might have a bit of a problem. For now, she seems to be a happy, functional drunk.
Now I want to see the flashback when Ariel returned home to his wife Bea, with his baby by another woman in his arms. THAT must have been quite a conversation that night.
Gloria, thank you for your magnificent Monday masterpiece. I love your little editorial comments such as "what a freaking idiot" and, to quote JudyB, the "Tantrum Algebra".
I find it incredibly amusing that every time Hernan tries to sabotage something he ends up almost murdering the supposed love of his live.
Wow, Mercedes has a really fast helicopter! 400 miles in 2 seconds is simply amazing. Maybe she was already in Veracruz. Staying 2 seconds from the fishery.
And once again DamFab proves he's got a much bigger boat than Hernan. Although to be fair, Hernan did try. Things just don't work out to well for him. AS USUAL. Little dude, get a clue.
I adore Tia Becky, but I'm going to agree with some of you that hanging out at the cantina is perhaps not the best place for her, lol.
I agree that Auntie Becky needs a 12 step program, but at least she is a happy, functional drunk. It looks like there will be a dance review at the cantina, so I am down with that. I love me some good moves.
I hope that DamFab has a big supply of those anti seasick pills that seem to put Pester to sleep. Otherwise, he and we are in for some nonstop Hissyfits. I can't wait to see Pester's reaction to her "good friend" M. Moving into her room.
After seeing WIlliam Levy in the fire scene, the only conclusion I can come to is that I want to sneak into Cuba and find my own William Levy. Big Sigh!
This line in particular made me giggle:
"Mercedes has arrived in 2 seconds from the city."
I think she must have magical powers.
Mejía scholars probably shared my "déjà vu all over again" moment last night when Sweet William rushed into the flames to rescue Marina. It was so evocative of Sweet William's rescue of Maria Desamparada after Daniela Romo's crazed Doña Bernarda had set the vecindad on fire.
Hernán surprised me. I didn't think he'd have the guts to follow DamFab into the fiery inferno. (Though it was the least he could do since it was all his fault anyway.)
JudyB:
"Now, does anyone else think our lovely, fun Tia Rebeca needs a 12-step program?
Hmm. I've been wondering about the drinking in general in this one. So far, the message has been "In vino veritas" or maybe "Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker." I'm actually ok with that. I mean is anyone using this story as a blueprint for life? If so, see me after Spanish class.
:)
And no, Sylvia, I couldn't resist. [snort]
Every time you write "my minivaca", I imagine you with a small bovine in tow.
[Guess I've lived in Wisconsin too long, huh?]
"(Ahh, but isn’t it great to play with fire sometimes?)". I've accidentally touched hot ashes but never played with fire (in the context you are refering to), although if such fire should ever appear in the form of WL, I will be sorely tempted.
Not only is WL divinely handsome and chisled (right, Judy?) he even CRIES handsomely! He doesn't even register on Ferro's ugly crying scale.
Madelaine, totally agree about Herny. He can't seem to get out of his own way. At the least, he needs to ensure Marina is out of town before he tries to burn or blow anything else up.
Mauricio, Jose wasn't being subtle in his warning looks to Mercedes, yet it took her a little longer to to heed them than she should have.
Vivi, I can't think of anyone I would want to watch my back more than Jose. He seems to magically appear every time there is a crisis.
It's amazing how Mercedes was able to rush back and for Dam get back to shore, dock and get to the blazing inferno before the fire engulfed Marina's office. Beanie time!
Disappointed Marina didn't flat out reject Hernan's job offer. I thought she was getting some kind of clue, but apparantly she will need to learn the hard way. Sigh.
Thanks for posting this NovelaMaven.

My other thought was that the actress playing Estercita must be having a ball (ditto for Tia Becky). But oh my, Estercita's bouncing around the boat and recklessly violating the chest drawers (NOT the chiseled chest, more's the pity) must have been fun to play. She's having quite a romp with this role.
All Marina gets to do is bleat "Auxilio" and faint behind the desk. Pooh!
I'm with you about Marina yelling for help and then passing out after she stood there for a hot minute looking around. My note to her would have been, look, I need to find a way out of this fiery inferno, for the love of Pete! I would have been trying to find a way out instead of having a case of the vaypors!
Cap'n Sylvia - ha ha re DamFab's bigger boat. Made me think again of his musical instrument (the guitar) vs Hernan's (violin).
William Levy is pure symmetry in motion. not one bad angle/ facial expression. his eye bags only make him appear manlier, indicative of hard work.

I have to agree with everything that has already been said.
I was wondering about Mercedes being teleported to the fire. She got there before the firemen.
It was a great episode.

For anyone not familiar with the term, Chris Ferro, a recapper from a few years back, devised an "ugly crying scale" with numbers from 1 to 10. Some of the most beautiful women and handsomest men were the ugliest criers! The rating applied to their crying only, not on their appearance. We had so much fun with this...

Fire, folks in danger, testosterone all over the place, biceps bulging, sweaty arms, and angst-filled faces:-)! And, of course, the end with both rescues.Excellent!
I liked the pause with Hernan reaching out to Damien. But I must say, a phone call for an ambulance does not equal a walk through a burning building. I don't think they are estan a mano, no siree!
And yes, Tia Becky is... perhaps functional, or... maybe a 12-step program is in order... we shall see. I did like Tia Becky's and Jose's looks at Mercedes..well played! Ana in Utah
Chris Ferro was great, what a funny guy and a real way with words.
I agree. They are not even. DamFab risked his life by going back in the fire to save him.
I also could not believe how fast Mercedes made it to R-
Laydee. Where is that fire department that took so long to make it to the fire?
That is true what JudyB said. It is a spoiler and we didn't have that information yet. It hasn't been revealed.
So the impacadora is pretty well shut down? So I wonder where we go from here? It looks as though Hernán pretty well accomplished what he set out to do. Without the packing plant, what is left for La Tempestad and its crew to do... whale watching cruises? Maybe they can open a little casino on board.

I have been refreshing the site since last night to read about WL, WL, and WL, His Hotness WL.
And... I found myself getting addicted to recaps and commentary more than to sexy pants WL. Shucks, it's a battle between looks and brains, telenovela and Caray Caray (and I am sure that all of you are absolutely gorgeous too).
Ladies and gents, you make me smile, laugh, and snort. AT WORK!
Thank you.
The main reason I watch The Soup is for the TN's.
They did the cutest one on Familia con Suerte with the dogs talking to each other but I haven't been able to find it online.
Sorry to be so late to the party! Thank you for a rollicking good recap. So much detail about Marina and Magdalena in this episode.
JudyB, I think La Tia Tiberona is (sadly) a lush, to use an old fashioned word. Get thee to the 12 Step, Tia Becky.
Mauricio--I was amused by Laura Carmine last night playing seasick on the set. She was fabulous! But, as a very poor sailor myself, I actually felt really sorry for her. Maybe in a few years, after she grows up and Dam dumps her, she could laugh about getting seasick on her luna de miel.
Your comment, already mentioned by dear NM, "Mercedes has arrived in 2 seconds from the city", made me laugh out loud. Honestly, that was absurd. She said, "I'll be right there, grabbed her Chanel bag off the hook and showed up in R-Laydee, Veracruz before the second story of the fish plant even caught on fire. Even fast helicopters are that good.
Susanlynn and NM: The Minivaca sounded like fun to me. Indeed, I never gave the 'tiny bovine' idea a though until Maven mentioned it. Now I can't stop giggling. Susanlynn, perhaps this is inspiration for a new avatar.Tee hee hee.

Adela Noriega is not far behind.
Lucero cries like she has the hiccups.
Everyone cries but the TN's take it over the top. Silvia Navarro does a realistic job.
I've been a little confuzzled all this time about the backstory of Mercedes and her daughters, so I'm glad that was finally cleared up a little more. It still seems odd to me that Mercedes was willing to hand off her remaining daughter; beanie needs a little tightening.
I thought "little cow" when I read "minivaca", too. Then I thought maybe that was like a minor snitfit, as opposed to the MEGAVACA berrinches Hystericita throws.
Disappointed Marina is apparently willing to walk away from the fishpackery and into Herny's snare.
