Tempestad # 5-8/2/13: I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In, Trouble, Trouble; I'm Hell On Heels, Say What You Will, I Done Made The Devil a Deal

Hola and Ahoy Patio Peeps. I don't use any type of CC's when I recap, I go by what is said and body language. If I get something wrong please comment and I will fix the recap. I am having a bit of trouble understanding WL but I think given enough time, I will be able to decipher what he his saying. This recap will not be in order and some scenes have been combined. Now have a glass of rum or grog, relax and enjoy the recap ; )

I Say A Little Prayer For You:
Dam meets Madrina and the guys want to partay cause Dam was  released from la carcel. Madrina wants to go to Church and pray in thanksgiving for Dam being released from la carcel. Dam goes with Madrina to Church. At the Church, Dam prays to the Virgincita and thanks her with all his heart. Madrina prays to the Virgincita for her to protect Dam. Padre is there too and prays in thanksgiving for Justice! Dam and Madrina leave the Church and Madrina wants him to come home with her and spend the night. Dam tells her it's ok, he's spending the night on the Tempestad.

Mama Don't Let Your Girls Grow Up To Be Bidness Women:
Bea and her daughter Marina are at home and Bea tells Marina she met Mercedes and really likes her. Later, Marina is getting ready for bed and her Mama Bea comes in with some tea for her. Marina would like to hire a nurse to stay with her Mama so that Marina will have peace of mind when she works. Bea tells her she don't need no nurse. She'll be fine. Mama changes the subject to Hernan, the galan. He even brought her flowers! Marina says they are just friends. A little later, Marina is in bed having such a nice dream about the Cap'n being shirtless, in a cave lit with lights, and either there is a waterfall, or it's raining and they are having some hawt kisses and getting drenched. It's her dream! She wakes up suddenly and her Mama is in the room, Marina tells her Mama she was having a nightmare, okey dokey then! Mama was just coming in to get her empty cup. Mama wonders if Marina is having trouble sleeping because of the Cap'n. Marina tells her Mama that guys don't like women bosses. She tells her Mama that the Cap'n doesn't like her being the boss of him. Marina tells her Mama about the Cap'n throwing her in the drink. Bea is pithed. Now it is time to go back to bed and Marina tells her Mama to get some sleep, and no worries, she will set that Cap'n straight tomorrow, cause tomorrow is another day!

I Don't Give A Damn 'Bout My Bad Reputation:
Padre is trying to talk Estercita into going home. She doesn't wanna cause the wrath of Fully (Fulgencio) will be upon her head. She is a scared of him. Padre really wants her to go home!

I Was In The Right Place, But It Must Have Been The Wrong Time:
Lazaro is sneaking and peeking in the windows of a house. Out comes our horrid guy with a knife and surprises Lazaro peeking in the window. Lazaro has come to check out where Jazzy (Jazmin) lives and what is going on there. Nereo with the knife, ain't liking it. He wants Lazaro to explain himself. Nereo tells Lazaro that he is the boss of this girl, got that, and unless he has money he isn't seeing Jazzy and if he doesn't , to stay away from her. He tells him to Largate! and makes him go. Lazaro goes and Jazzy has been peeking out the window and is way upset.

Mexico City:
Mercedes has come back home and her secretary Alicia greets her. She wants to know how Mercedes trip was. She tells Alicia she met Bea, and maybe someday she will tell her the truth, that she is Marina's Mama. Later, Mercedes is in that club she owns and sees some drunken guy pawing a lady. They finally make it to a table and the guy keeps pawing. He finally goes off and Mercedes approaches the table to talk to the lady. Mercedes tells the lady her name and then I think asks if she is is okay? Mercedes gives her a card and tells her to call her if she needs some help.

I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me:
Dam is walking back to the Tempestad when he feels a presence behind him. Olinto calls out to him and tells him, it's only him and he needs to have a word. He wants to give Dam some advice. It's about Marina. Dam tells him no worries, he will finish out his contract. Olinto wants him to thank Marina for getting out of la carcel. No way, Estercita is the one that got that done. Nopis, says Olinto, Marina told Ester to tell the truth and so she did, but only from prodding by Marina and also Marina stuck up for Dam in the middle of town in front of Fully and everbody! This was all Marina's doing. Dam is shocked, I tell you shocked!

Smuggler's Blues:
Fully is down on the beach, screaming his fool head off for Hernan, and he is way pithed and doesn't care when he is confronted by a sub machine gun. He just wants Hernan! Hernan finally appears and bitches Fully out cause they are in the middle of smuggling all these girls and he has the nerve to show his face, he has enough problems with the Cap'n and Ester and he doesn't need his grief. Fully wants Hernan to get rid of that Cap'n Fabre. Hernan tells Fully his reputation is crap and Fully tries to pull the boss of him card. Hernan ain't havin it and tells him they are partners and what's more, Hernan will take care of this Cap'n Bidness y punto.

Mama Told Me Not To Come, That Ain't the Way To Have Fun Girl:
Ester has made it home and is on a crying jag, pobrecita! She wants Mama's forgiveness. Mama tells her, her Snappy Papi (Fully) is so pithed at her. Ester curls up in her Mama's lap and cries. Mama cries with her and wishes Dam would marry Ester. I think Delfina mentioned that Fully wants them out, and Ester doesn't want her Mama to suffer for her. Ester never wants to get married, she tells her Mama. Remember that little tid bit. Ester goes to bed, and Mama gets on her knees and prays. I feel like the Virgincita is gonna be busy, jus' sayin'.

La Tempestad:
Bagre who I am calling Baggy is on the boat getting a bit ready for the morrow, and he runs into Dam and asks why he isn't sleeping already. Dam had enough of that in la carcel. He is going somewhere. Baggy wants to know where. Dam doesn't really say.

Later, Dam is walking and thinking about what Olinto told him about Marina. Dam thinks there is something wrong with him. Dude, get a clue already!

Well That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be, He Wants To Marry Her:
So now we see where Dam was off to, he has come to speak to Ester, he tells Delfina. Delfina doesn't think it is a good idea, seeing as Fully can't stand Dam and he just shouldn't be there, cause Fully could be home any time now. Delfina is worried with Ester's reputation she will never find a good guy. Well, that's the reason Dam has come, to ask for Ester's hand in marriage, Que, Que, What?????? Delfina is shocked, I tell you shocked, you could blow her over with a feather that Dam wants to marry Ester. Dam thinks it is the right thing to do! What you been smokin' Dam? Delfina tells Dam that Ester is in her room, just having a fit of the vapors, er, a bundle of nerves and that Fully wants her out of the house. She also tells Dam that at heart, very deep down, well not that, but you know, Fully is a good guy and Papa, Note to Delfina: Really are you smokin' what Dam is, I think y'all need to have your brains detoxed, jus' sayin'. Dam wants to go find Fully and talk to him. Delfina doesn't think that 's a great idea. Delfina lays it on Dam that she feels she was a bad Mama to Ester and a total failure. Dam is kind to her and doesn't agree. Delfina is urging Dam to go before Fully comes back and he thanks her for her time and goes.

Hernan Checks In:
Hernan is speaking to I assume his boss in this smuggling operation. He talks about Fully and Ester and the bad juju. Hernan is at this person's orders. He also tells this person not to worry he has something planned for that Cap'n.

I Go Out Walkin After Midnight:
Dam is walking and sees graffiti on a wall that says Ester is a slut. He shakes his head. He is being followed again by Cande this time. At the same time that Dam sees this graffiti, Fully in his car sees the same graffiti and blows a gasket. Cande has finally caught up to Dam and he tells her he asked for Ester's hand in marriage. Shut the front door, Irene! Cande wants a chat. Cande says listen dude, Ester came to your bed willingly, you didn't force her , it was her choice, yadda, yadda, and you've done this with other women without gettin' married! Dam says well it wasn't exactly the same and Fully will have his head. Dam, being a man of his word, doesn't want Ester to suffer indignity in this small town where everyone will be pointing fingers and dissing her. In other words, he wants to redeem her reptuation. We hear ya dude, but where is the love?

Sticks and Stones Will Break Your Bones But Names Will Never Hurt You, Try Telling that to Fully:
Fully is driving home and everwhere he looks there is the graffiti saying that Ester is a slut, in many different ways. Even on his own house. He is blowing a gasket. He sees one of the guys that works for him and tells him to go all over town and get rid of the graffiti and also from the front gate of the house. The guy goes to do his bidding. After the guy goes, Fully swears that Dam will pay, bwahaaa.

On The Good Ship La Tempestad:
The randy crew is on the ship, and they want to know where their Cap'n is. They want a good chisme session, and Baggy tells them, no commentary about the Cap'n. They shut it quite quickly. Dam has come aboard and goes below. Baggy follows Dam below and wants to know waz up! Dam tells Baggy he has asked for Ester's hand in marriage. Baggy reminds Dam that Ester is no saint. What about love, don't you want someone to care about you? Well not that, but he did ask about love. Dam says there ain't no woman for him, she doesn't exist. Forgetaboutit, this love thing. Dam is convinced there ain't no woman to love.

It's Daybreak:
Ester is in her bed crying and she is afraid her Snappy Papi will kill her. Her Mama doesn't want her to suffer so. Mama wants to know why Ester picked Dam, she knows how much Fully hates Dam. It's cause Ester, lurrrvvves her some Dam. Delfina tells her about Dam asking for her hand in marriage. Ester just can't believe it, she is soooo over the moon. Her Mama tells her not so fast there missy. Ester thinks that  cause she is  so happy, Fully will cave, sha la la, sha la la. Delfina reminds Ester how Fully feels about Dam and now Ester wants her Mama's help with that. Later, Fully is in the dining room trying to have some breakfast and asks the guy if he took care of all the graffiti and he means all of it. Yes sir, all taken care of. The guy goes and Fully is all pithed about this graffiti being all over town. Which begs the question, noone likes Fully, doesn't he have a clue? Delfina comes in and tries to kiss Fully who kind of avoids that. She wants to talk to Fully about the Cap'n. She tells Fully that Dam came over last night to talk. Fully is pithed and wants to know why, why??????

Hernan talks to the crooked popo in town. That Valdivia guy. Hernan wants a favor. He wants that boat the Tempestad to disappear along with the crew and that Cap'n and no evidence is to be found in the water, as in a bomb maybe?   Got that Valdivia? He tells the cop to leave.

Day O, Day O, Daylight Come and Me Wanna Go To Sea:
The crew is up and about getting the ship ready to go out to sea. They are just about to ship out when Marina shows up. I think she actually asks to come aboard this time. Dam reminds her this ain't no tourist boat. She reminds him of that contract and his obligation. Dam laughs and finally tells her she can come aboard, but she ain't the boss of him here. He is the boss of her and she must follow his orders. The crew is kinda yukking it up cause she asked about if the boat has a GPS. They finally are getting going and Marina even lends a hand with the mooring lines. Marina and Dam share a look and he grins at her. I think she wants to help somewhat like the crew. Later, Marina is on the rolling deck and looks like she hasn't found her sea legs yet and she is a mite greenish looking. She sits down and does some work. The crew is having another yuk fest about her being aboard but Dam tells them to can it, this trip with her is about work and to show some respect for her. Wow, that was quick! He also grins again. What is with the silly grin dude? You know, right, right????? Well Dam goes over to talk to Marina. He says he knows about her standing up for him. She tells him she did what was right. He wants to know if it was only for the bidness but she tells him not only that, but for him too. She does add that she doesn't want him to be confused and confuzzled cause this isn't personal he is an employee after all. Dam is just fascinated with Marina. End of Epi!

Este Lunes Avances:

Fully is having a fit.

Pirates attack the Tempestad.
Hernan realizes he made a big boo boo. Must see TV!!!!

Lo Siento this is late. Please enjoy the recap ; )

Good Lord! never apologize Mads...you're doing double recaps this Friday aren't you? And we've had recappers before who didn't post until late Sunday night. So relax pretty lady!

I'm always amazed at how many songs you can come up with as headings. You've got some sort of iTunes installed in that sassy brain of yours, no? And thanks for bringing back Harry Belafonte's Day-O, I had the cover of his 78 album posted on my wall in college because he was just so durn beautiful.

I tried just listening to Wm Levy last night without checking the closed captions. Here's what I got:

Mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble.

He had to be saying something really prosaic and repetitive before I understood without double-checking the written Spanish. And I understand my friends from Colombia quite well. And even understood most of that shouting match on Sal y Pimienta about AV. So our handsome William is a challenge.

On the mysterious meeting in the nightclub (of course Vivi is the ultimate expert) but I thought Mercedes pegged the woman as a "working girl". And she gave her her business card, asking her to call her. I assumed she was hoping to get information from this woman...ie., did she know someone who might be Mercedes'lost daughter. Or possibly wondering if she were the long-lost twin daughter herself. I'm assuming the last part...she did not say anything other than giving her the card and asking her to call...please.

And glad poor Lazaro didn't get in more trouble skulking around Jazmin's miserable digs. Her owner told him no dice to see her if he didn't have money.

Anyway, snappy recap in your inimitable style. Thanks Ms. Mads. And I liked the episode...it's still moving along at a nice pace.

Madelaine
We appreciate the recap & it gets here
when you have time.

Interview with Wm Levy by Mario Lopez
Miami Cubano spanglish

Great recap, Carlos.

I love Maricruz and need want you teach me to act like a gentleman so that I can tell her how much I love her. I love her so much that I am willing to prove my love to her by boinking you. Hmmmmmm. Makes perfect sense to me.

Cynderella

OK, I put my comment in the wrong spot. Everyone pretend you are reading Corazon and Mads, pretend that you are Carlos.

Well, heck, Levy is perfectly understandable in English! Lil' rascal sure says the right things doesn't he? What woman isn't going to melt when a guy says he loves his mom and grandmom.

Maddy: Loved the recap! The song titles were all a hoot--especially the title. Charlie Daniels I am sure salutes you! Bottoms topside. Muy enjoyable read!

BTW, would it be safe to describe Marina's nocturnal fantasy as a virgin's wet dream?

Absolutely wonderful Madelaine!

Greta titles, how do you know so many matching song lyrics for the appropriate place?

WoW, Marina surely have nice dreams, it's way different from the girlish embarrassment she had in the first epi when she saw mr hottie naked

Wonderful recap, Mads! (Let's hope this is the last time you'll have to pull a double shift for a while)

I especially love it when a recap has a good beat and you can dance to it. :)

So prissy Marina has this lovely, sexy dream and tells her mama she was having a nightmare. Fib? Self-delusion? You decide.

You are so right about WL. He is very tough to understand. Lucky for us that he rarely says anything -- it's all in his movement and his smile.

I was reminded of this when I was doing the crossword puzzle this morning and this quote was one of the clues: "Sex is emotion in motion." (The author -- and the answer to the clue -- is Mae West.)

JudyB, it's funny but I saw what you saw and interpreted it completely differently. I thought Mercedes noticed that the woman was being badly treated by her companion; she slipped her card to the woman in the hopes that the blonde would call her and she (Mercedes) would be able to help her.

She seems to be a woman who was abused and now has devoted her life to fighting the abuse of other woman. Ironically, she has just plunked her own daughter in the middle of a dirty trafficking network. (Or I could be full of beans. It happens. :D)

just back from vaca at the shore. I only saw the first episode. I will have to try to catch up this weekend. what is the verdict so far. ?

Cyn..You are too funny.

NOvelamaven...Loved the American Bandstand reference.

Now, on to read the recap.

Madelaine - nice touch on music-themed chapters. Smuggler's Blues brought me back to my fave tv show Miami Vice. I watch tn's with English captions, and I'm impressed you got all that without it. Thank you.

When Marina told her Mom she had a nightmare, I thought, I'd like to have that kind too. Did anyone notice steam literally emanating from WL in that rain in the cave? I did! yes, he is that hot!! It can't be from the cold, can it?

JudyB/Variopinta - WL in interviews is mostly always oh-so charming, and lovable. even a little girl thinks so.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2X39uoKgrQ

Thanks Mads for this fabulous recap!! How do you do it? Writing two recaps for different shows at the same time. I know how hard it is to write them and how time consuming they can be. Kudos to you for being able to do this.

As for the meeting at the night club, the woman who Mercedes approached is Soraya. Mercedes gave Soraya her card and asked her to call her because she wanted to ask her a big favor.

I loved the "nightmare" that Marina had. The cave they used to film that scene was beautiful with the light shining in and the rain was a nice touch too.

Oh Hernan. If only you knew that Marina is on board the ship that you just asked to be blown up.

Marina did ask permission to board the ship this time. She also asked Damian and the crew if they had a GPS to help them navigate and they all laughed at her. I thought that was very funny.

Fun video Shallowgal. Both Levy and Colunga seem to be very pleasant and welcoming with their fans. Nice to see people appreciating their fame and popularity instead of carping about it.

Susanlynn
I would avoid a Mejia novela like the plague. The only reason I'm watching this is because of WL, I think he is adorable. So far, I'm not disliking it, we'll see in a few wks if I can stick it out.

Take a look at this pic of William flying a plane on his way to Cozumel to film a new commercial for Sabritas.

shallowgal
that video was adorable. He is so good with his own kids.

Sneak peak of the new Sabritas commercial:

Mads, what a smashing recap! Gosh I enjoyed it, especially all the song titles. You are one clever lady. I've always admired your ability to pull out the perfect song title or lyric at just the right moment. Buen hecho! And then I hear you did a double-down? Yikes.

I thought I had it bad with only Spanish subtitles, but you doing this sans any at all is amazing. I love Sweet William but the boy is a mush-mouth.

Thanks everyone for the cool links to videos and pics. Fun stuff.

Well I thought this was another good episode. What a great idea to have Marina insist on going fishing, mostly because it will really throw a monkey wrench in Hernan Haskell's plans, bwahahaha.

I liked at the very end how Dam Fab was being all nice to Marina and she told him she was treating him like any other employee. He seemed truly baffled that his charming smile and sexy way wasn't working on her. Apparently it has been quite successful for him in the past. Kudos to Marina for resisting him.

That Delfina is a piece of work. She makes everything about her. No wonder Estercita is self-centered considering her role model.

Thanks again Madelaine, this was a GREAT recap!

Thanks Mads - it's so hard to understand WL!
Marina reminds me of me, many moons ago as a young executive in a mostly mans world. Of course I didn't have the advantage of drop dead good looks or a rich Mama. I also never had a single employee that looked anything like WL or it would've been worth going out to sea to face the pirates!
Marea Primavera

Fantastic Madelaine,

I love the way you throw some Spanish into the recap. It fits...it's funny! This is going to be a good one!!

What's not to love about the ridiculously handsome protagonistas! Gertie

Great job, Madelaine... I can't imagine how you can even do 2 recaps for the same day, much less turning out the incredible products consistently as you do. You're amazing.

I'm really enjoying this TN regardless of its pedigree. I was feeling so badly for Estercita as I watched this this evening. Poor thing needs some rest (maybe some cucumber slices for her eyes)and a do over for her hair.

Carlos

Cap'n Sylvia - in watching that end scene you described, WL looks amazing even under the bright sun.

Gertie - what's not to love indeed.

Mauricio - thanks for the twitter links; I always like to see outtakes.

http://www.latingossip.com/novelas/william-levy-ximena-navarrete-and-ivan-sanchez-already-have-blooper.html

Marea Primavera - ...and that's why we watch tns, right? hardly any WL types in real working world/life.

Variopinta - WL iz adorable in this hombre salvaje role. Handsome and well-clad as he was in TdA, I didn't like his seemingly weak character, and ended up bailing on that.

JudyB, I knew from some articles about the tn that they asked Levy to take diction lessons because his Cuban accent was impossible to understand when he fist started shutting.
So when I started watching I payed attention to see how he talks, but aside from some mumbling that I believe has always been there, I get what he's saying, even if it takes me a little effort.
I hope in a few episodes he'll get better, once his classes kick in.

As for Marina's dream....Madre mia! Nice way to wake up, and she can call it a nightmare as long as she wants, still won't make a difference.
I kind of wished for the first kiss to be a real one, though, I still remember when Amor Bravio did the dream think with the first love scene between C&D - i felt so cheated!

oops... I meant 'clean cut and well-clad'

Carlos, I have to agree that this tn has the potential to be a min-blockbuster despite Mejia's connection, but only if they manage to miraculously substitute a different leading lady, i.e., one who can actually do more than deliver her lines like she's reciting the Gettysburg Address and who doesn't look like one of those saucer-eyed, starving waifs forever imprisoned in a Margaret Keane painting. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and I'd say that is it. Watching her in this is like having fingernails scraping a blackboard, IMNSHO.

Madelaine..A big thank you for recapping this novela. I love your style and wit. It looks like this is going to be a fun ride...er...voyage.

I left some late comments on Novelamaven's recap.

http://eedition.sun-sentinel.com/Olive/ODE/FloridaSunSentinel/LandingPage/LandingPage.aspx?href=RlNTLzIwMTMvMDgvMDQ.&pageno=NTU.&entity=QXIwNTUxMA..&view=ZW50aXR5

Not sure if that link will work. It is an article from the SunSentinel about Wm Levy

Variopinta:

Thank you for the link. It worked just fine. It was an interesting interview.

Aha! So it IS a wig. Now we have the definitive answer.

Susanlynn/Novela Maven - just read your late posts on last week's page. what a hoot!

I am relieved to discover that William is wearing a bad wig and that possum on his head is not his actual hair. Couldn't the stylist for the novela have found him a Fabiol type fabulous wig ..long and luxurious with a big of a wave and golden highlights ? no...that's just in my head then ??? Maybe Fabiol wigs should be carried in The Storm Cellar.

Possum? Bwahahaha! That's funny. It most certainly is a terrible wig.

I am glad to know that William is not having a long running bad hair day.

Let me be perfectly clear. None of the wigs seen thus far was purchased from The Storm Cellar™.

The production crew of LT was reportedly spotted at the Meta*Mart liquidation sale where they snapped up several gently used Espanto disguises. Keep your eyes peeled, folks. We may not have seen the last of Howard Stern.

Should any wigged-out LT personaje choose to flip his or her wig and start over, Storm Cellar image consultants would be happy to help with custom-designed, hand-woven scalp enhancements.

Dam Fab can also choose from a colorful array of do-rags and coordinated gold hoop earrings.

It is also good to know that the tattoos are fake too.

how about a weave? Adrian Paul had a weave the first season of Highlander before he grew his own hair long. Hmmm..however, I seem to remember that in an interview he talked about how damaging the weave was to his own hair. I would enjoy seeing William in Espanto 's Howard Stern wig.

shallowgirl:

You're Welcome!! I love looking at behind the scenes pics. Here are some pics of the cast playing soccer. The pics are from last Sunday.

Enjoy! :)

Darn, I didnt want to watch this (like many,I swore of Mejia Tns) but I got sucked in with the great recaps and comments. I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked these episodes and most of the characters so far. Daniala Romo is my favorite thus far. César Évora does not disappoint. Laura Carmine plays her sniveling bratty character well. Even though she can be flat and wooden at times, Ximena is not as bad as I thought she would be.

Cece:

"Ximena is not as bad as I thought she would be."

Yes! This is just the sort of thing we lift a glass to on the Patio of Lowered Expectations. Cheers!

I suppose Ximena doesn't have to really act the fish-out-of-water character; she is.

NovelaMaven - "do-rags"...ROFLOL!!!!

Thanks much Madelaine!

What's amazing is that Hernán/Iván Sanchez has learned to speak with a Mexican accent already! Usually the rhythm and cadence gives a Spaniard away even if they hide the "lisp". They taught him to speak slowly. He sounds so different from LRDS.

He makes an excellent villain, no?

Madelaine I forget my manners! Thanks for the awesome recap! I loved the asides. ITA with Damian's/WL silly grins...he's been doing that a lot lately. Kind of throws off his I'm a meanie/bully character but makes him look oh so fine so who cares right??:)

NovelaMaven:
I like the Patio of Lower Expectations...I should hang there more often since I am usually always pleasantly surprised. Very unlike the Patio of Higher Expectations which more often than not tends to leave me disappointed (read: TdA, Corazon Indomable)

Mads- posting from my iPhone so plz excuse typos. Thank you for the recap. Helps my know the plot so I can give it a try LOL When I get home from our trip.

Patio of Lower Expectations.

All I can say Ximena is already better than Blanca Soto.

It helps when you expect so little. You keep thinking, at least it's not as bad as FELS or Corazón Indomable, ¡YET!

And of course there is el guapisímo

Mads- Another big thanks for your recapping efforts this weekend! I am amazed by how much I am enjoying this so far-- yes, I had my reservation on the Patio of Lowered Expectations long ago. The decent episodes, brilliant recaps, and fun comments are rapidly raising those expectations. I might even make a reservation on the Patio of Mid-level Expectations.

I understand why they made WL wear that wig, to give him the bodice ripper "luke", worthy of a macho, seductive sea captain. And Daniela Romo has a great wig, cover her post-cancer short hair. But why are they making Laura Carmine wear a wig? And the happy hooker/bar owner, Candy? Both actresses have great real hair. Surely they could have straightened/curled and colored their hair to fit their roles.

And why, if they must wear wigs, are they so BAD? Especially Laura Carmine. I swear her wig slips around on her head. It's just weird.

We have quite a few non-Mexicans in the main cast of this tn—two Cubans (WL and Cesar Evora); one Spaniard (Ivan Sanchez); and one Puerto Rican (Laura Carmine). All the rest, except for WL, have done exceptionally well taking on the Mexican accent.

By the way, Laura Carmine has heterochromia—her eyes are two different colors. I never noticed it on Manuel Landeta before now, but there are times in Corazon Indomable that it looks like he has the same thing as LC.

Madelaine: Perfect title. At my age I should be ashamed to admit I sing along (albeit badly) with the aforementioned Taylor Swift song. You struck all the right notes...

Your recaps are wonderful in and of themselves. But, you add the element of fun and surprise. Although I loved the recap, I was so intrigued as to what the next caption would be, I had to skip ahead. Not only were they some of the best tunes ever, but they all fit here perfectly. Carefully constructed puzzle pieces. You are the master!

"I think y'all need to have your brains detoxed, jus' sayin'" was one of my favorites.

In spite of his non-enlighted attitute toward women in general and business women in a position of authority in particular, Dam seems to have a sense of honor at the core.

Between shadowing Marina and Dam, singing and spending time at the club, I'm surprised Mercedes has time to work at all. Now that's multitasking!

I'm with Vivi and others in that I am enjoying this tremendously. I like the chemistry between the leads and the high seas adventures and intrigue.

Great comments all!

Madelaine, thanks again...

Diana

Madelaine..I love music and enjoyed your musical subheadings. keep up the fun musical references.

Madelaine you are a superwoman!, Two recaps in me you have nothing to apologize for.
Thank you for yet another marvelous and humorous recap.
I also have difficulty in understanding WL. He doesn't enunciate properly. Hopefully with the lessons it will change because Cesar is easy to understand.
NovelaMaven- I am in tears over your comment. I hope that the Howard Stern wig does not make a cameo.

Why couldn't they have borrowed Vasco's wig from Pasión? He looked muy guapo in that.

what a fun bunch ya'll are!!! gracias.

Read this about El guapisímo

Esthercita is supposed to be 18 years old - that is what Mejia said when he gave a description of the character.

I guess they are making Laura Carmine wear the wig to make her look young since in real life Laura is obviously older.

I found this picture of Laura Carmine
sure nuff
One eye brown & one blue

Good morning. I am STILL washing sandy beach towels and clothing. I will miss Cintonight again..taking the whole family out to dinner. However, I might be home in time to catch Tempestud.

Good Morning Y'all and thanks for all your kind words.

JudyB, Mauricio, and NovelaMaven:

Thanks so much for what I missed. I have fixed the recap.

About WL and his acting. I think he is a good actor. I am with Adriana Noel, he needs elocution lessons. That is his only problem. I watched both Sortilegio and Cuidado con el Angel and understood him fine in those. I think he is a low talker, as Seinfeld would say, lol.

About the music. As a kid I listened more to radio than I watched TV. I just pick the music I think fits the characters and the scene. My friends have always told me if they ever go on "Cash Cab" or "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" they would call me as a lifeline, lol.

Variopinta and Mauricio and Shallowgal:

Thanks for all the links ; )

Jardinera:

It's great to see you here : ) The second song title, Hell on Heels....I Done Made The Devil a Deal is from Miranda Lambert's group Pistol Annies. I think XN is okay. I am giving her a break cause it's her first TN. I just think she is nervous and holds her body a bit stiffly. I think she'll loosen up as this goes on : )

This TN is a bit of a surprise, no? There was so much naysaying everywhere about this one, I thought it really can't be that bad, can it? Well I have to say, this IS much better than I expected and so worth the snark. The cast overall is really terrific. I think people got their hate on cause they found out Mieja was doing this one. Then again, Meija did "La Madrastra" the biggest TN in ratings, eva! I have watched parts of it on Youtube and it was reallllllyyyy over the top, lol. The actors in that one were really great too. And Rene Casados in makeup, Cantu as a cross dressing murderer, que, que what? I think this one will be just fine ; )

Cynderella:

I lol'd at your comment ; )

nuevo....

Madelaine - ITA WL is a good actor. otherwise, I wouldn't be so glued, unless the story is totally absurdo (i.e. TdA).

Shallowgirl:

Thank you for the link to the new Sabritas commercial. I loved it.

para nada

I was lol with the song by Wham; how apropos "you put the boom boom into my heart.. wake me up before you go go"

Oh man! my reply went away.... Anyway, I will have to condense. Thank you Madelaine this was a great recap! Recappers are really pushing me through a sucky job and constant study! :)

Like everyone can I say I would not mind having Marina's nightmares. Can we say awkward waking up from that dream with Bea in the room. :)

Can someone give me the scoop on what the issue with Meija's tn? Andy why was everyone so disappointed in TdA? I saw some clips I couldn't watch it at the time.

WL is mumbling because I do not remember that issue in CCEA.

Thanks again.

Anon 4:36:

They give Meija a hard time cause he did a couple TN's that were "bad" like Fuego En La Sangre and Corazon Salvaje 2009. I enjoyed both of those TN's. Were they over the top? Si! Were they horrid? No! I quite enjoyed all the snarkyness that came out of both of them. I really am enjoying this one. As someone else said, the protaganistas/o are wonderful and I agree about WL and CCEA. I understood him perfectly.

Has anyone else noticed that when CE and IS are in beach scenes the sound lowers and you get all kinds of background noise like waves rolling in? Is it just me?

I've noticed all the background noise too but since I love the sound of the waves, I don't mind it interfering with the dialogue.

JudyB:

Lol'd I really thought I was the only one. Thanks : )

Thanks for the recap, Madelaine! I love your pacing/tone; the snark is snappy and fluent through and through. I know I'm extremely late to the Patio Party, so I'll keep it quick.

Dam impressed me these past two epis. He sympathized with Esthercita and thanked Marina for her help, two big puntos

Two big puntos in my book. Hernan, who I found to be extremely attractive the first couple of capitulos, has already veered into creepy stalker/ruthless villain novela land. Fulgencio's temper and pride will get the best of him, but Hernan will probably last longer.

About Levy's mumbling....I find him much easier to understand than Cristian de la Fuente, but I've always found Chilean/Argentinian accents to be excessively difficult to comprehend. Was there controversy over de la Fuente's voice?

Bailey Marie:

There was no controversy about CdlF's voice as far as I know, except for his rapid fire Spanish, which is sometimes a bit hard to keep up with. I love Argentinian accents cause they sound like Italian to me and I can understand that, lol. I know CdlF is Chilean, but I seem to understand him better than WL for some reason. Its the diction I think. WL tends to speak rapidly and slurs his words, whereas CdlF's diction is very clear.

Hm..., I don't remember having any trouble understanding CdlF's Chilean accent, but I was (still am) so smitten with him, I was probably not even paying to much attention :))

Growing up I watched tns from all over Latin America, so I understand all accents, even if, for example, I can definitely distinguish the Argentinian one as being different. Believe it or not, I have more problems understanding Spanish, although whenever Ivan Sanchez slips into his accent I find him very sexy.

As for Levy, I guess it is a problem of diction, too, like Madelaine said, but I understand him just fine... again, gazing at him while he speaks helps a lot.

Talking about Levy's accent and the noises on the boat, the only times I have troubles understanding him is when he is in his camarote and we hear all that "boom - boom" outside.

Madelaine,

Thanks for the explanation on Meija. I vaguely remember see bits and pieces Fuego en la Sangre.
