La Tempestad Cap #38 Wed, 9/18/13 - More crying and noble idiocy *

* - Vita (Thanks for your comment, it made a perfect title.)

Redux:  Delfina is pretty nice when she’s not hanging around with the toxic Esteryuya. She knows Dam’s no murderer. He tells her Madre E said Estercita is alive. QUE QUE QUE??? Ursula blackmails Esteryuya. Candy lets Lolo escort her to the jail to see Dam.

Lo Nuevo: DamHelplessInJail hears the mob of townspeople whip themselves into a frenzy against Frankenstein’s monster. No wait. Wrong story, ...whip themselves into a frenzy against Marina Reverte! DamHelpless thought bubbles that Marina shouldn’t have to pay the price for loving him.

Mayuya and Ursula walk up to the crowd and gleefully observe their wrath. Fully drags Delfina away from the crowd and she tells him to “Suelteme!” She is bummed to see Mayuya looking like Mayuya instead of Esteryuya but she can’t stick around for self-analysis or chit-chat. She’s got something important to do. Alone. (Before we continue I must say I am amazed at these ladies’ very high heels. But I can tell you from my recent experience in Mexico that uneven pavements and cobblestones will not deter the fashionable ladies from wearing these impractical shoes.)

Ick Alert!! Macario escorts EsterHada into a classy mall or store to do some shopping. He keeps a tight grip on her. Ick I say!! He says treat Don E right and she’ll be treated like a queen.

Back at R-Lay-Dee the beyotch cheerleading squad is leading the student body in a pep rally. Ursula sees Marina rushing up with Jose and Maycucu tells her Marina is the one who caused Estercita’s death. Jose gathers those papers from Candy (testimonials?) and goes into the jail with Candy and Lolo. Lolo gets sidetracked by Mayuya and comments that she looks better dressed as herself. She calls him  panzón (tubby or fatty). He gives her the nyaa nyaa and says he thinks she likes him. A little.

Eusebia lights incense and gathers a veritable tempestad of spirits around her. She says she’s drowning. No, let’s go swimming. Envy; rainbow air.  Delfina busts in and demands if it’s true that her daughter is alive. Didn’t anyone tell Delfina it’s not nice to fool with Madre Nature?

Macweirdio shows EsterHada how to apply makeup. He holds a bra up to himself. Not sure what else to say about this little shopping spree. Except ICK! The hairdresser accidentally pulls her hair and we get about a half second of original cranky Estercita.

Mercedes calls Jose and reports that the doc says there is a tiny chance Magdalena could pull through. She tells Jose to do everything he can to free Damian and he needs to be her eyes in R-Lay-Dee. All her resources are at his disposal. Jose says Fully’s being a dick and hindering the investigation. Big surprise.

Mag is in bed unconscious. Doc says she is alive thanks to God and the fact that her mother got her there in time.

The shrew crew spies the La Tempestad crew with Marina. The bitches start whacking the guys with purses, how lame. Marina sticks up for herself, none of this is her fault! Ursula thinks Marina shows spirit, but she knows how to control her. She hands Mayuya a big rock and says “Prove your loyalty to me”. OMG, Mayuya runs up, throws it, and beans Marina right in the side of the head! (I knew a girl like Ursula in high school. She always had mean ideas that got everyone else in trouble but she never got busted. She looked pretty worn out at the 20 yr reunion; I think 24/7 bitchitude really takes it out of you. Take note Ursula.)

Marina manages to suck it up and stagger onward, head bleeding. Dang, I’m impressed.

Meanwhile Damian thinks that good cop Toribio will let him out of jail if he yells and kicks the bars. Wrong. Torbi reports that the town is rising up against Marina but DON’T WORRY because his guys are controlling everyone. (Doesn’t sound like it to me.) And hey, Marina’s going to be OK and she’s on her way to the Doc’s place, so DON’T WORRY. This news doesn’t help Dam’s mood. In fact he’s DamCrabby. He swears to Candy he’s going to do something to protect Marina. He’ll make the biggest sacrifice evah. He’s going to have to give her up. He cries pretty-boy tears.

Marina has wisely staggered to the Doc’s, although she’s keen to visit Dam ASAP. She doesn’t even want to wait for anesthesia.

Warning, crazy violin music over at Neptuno. Yep, it’s Hernan, smiling to himself and thinking his creepy thoughts, “Very soon Marina I’ll make you mine! Todo mío!” But if things don’t go his way then he can always bring back Estercita. Macario calls Hernan to say he hopes Herny has solved those “little problems” that were worrying Don Ernesto. And Don E wants to talk to some guy named “Genaro” about Hada. (Is he the guy who found her?) Herny thought bubbles no way is he going to let Don E talk to Genaro.

Herny says he was thinking about his parents. Macario tells him to forget about the past and don’t bring up the subject again. Don E likes to protect that secret. Crazy violin gets loud and Herny vows to give Don E the final blow.

Eusebia lays her hands on Delfina and says she has suffered much, and the suffering is threatening to consume her. Delfina asks if Estercita is alive then where is she? Eusebia says she’s seen the place in her dreams but she doesn’t know where it is. She’s just as eager as Delfina to get Estercita back home so that she can prove Dam’s innocence. But man, she just can’t get past all that sea water in her head. She needs one more day.

Ooh la la, Hada is all made up and looks very elegant. Macario is satisfied with his work. Hada seems pretty darn satisfied herself. She likes the pretty, shiny objects.

Mercy holds Magdalena’s hand and urges her to fight. Mag coughs and opens her eyes. Mercy tells her she’s been looking for her for years and calls her hija. “Yo soy tu madre.” Mag goes freaqueando and yells she’s not her daughter. “Get out you squeaky old broad! Don’t touch me!” Mercy keeps pleading but Mags goes ballistic, “Vayase de aqui!”

Hernan talks to Nereo about them needing to get rid of Robles without incriminating themselves. Nereo wheedles a bit about Herny and Don Fully finding his replacement, but then he has a great idea. Since he’s good for nothing except beating on the merchandise, why not make Laz in charge of getting rid of Comandante Robles? Herny thinks that’s a grand idea since both Laz and the old guy like her. Herny thought bubbles he’s going to sort out his business with Genaro. I’ll say this for Herny, he does appear to have an organized mind.

Marina finally makes it to the jail but, as predicted,  DamUnoriginal snubs her. He tells her he wants to separate para siempre. Marina cries but Dam says she’s got to accept it.  He tells her to beat it and leave him in peace. This goes on for a few more scenes.

Hernan tells his guy to find Genaro and his woman and wipe them off the map. Then make it look like they left in a hurry.

Robles tells his guys he’s sure that Fully and Hernan are the leaders of the human trafficking ring, but he’s got a hunch there’s someone bigger controlling the organization. Sooner or later Fully and Hernan are going to blow it and he’ll discover who the big stinky cheese is.

Speaking of cheese, Ernesto is beyond thrilled at Hada’s transformation. Macario asks Don E to quit gawking and start squawking. They’ve got important things to discuss. After they leave, Hada admires herself in the mirror. Yep, Estercita’s still in there somewhere.

Marina’s yelling what about DamSincere’s promises of love? What about their plans to be together forever? He yells back he was swept away by the moment, yeah that's what it was. She can’t believe how cruel he is! He has to turn his back so she doesn’t see him crying. “Largate” he yells and calls the police to drag her away. She pitches a fit and they drag her out. Now see what you did DamCruel? You made her cry and then you made yourself cry.

Nereo calls Jaz’s sister Belen but the Feds can’t trace it because he’s using his cellular.  Jazmin cries to Belen and tells her not to be afraid. Lots of Te quieros and Nereo rolls his eyes. Jerk. Then he mocks Jazmin’s crying. Double jerk.

Candy visits Dam and tells him he did a very bad thing by rejecting Marina. He was too cruel and he should have found another solution. (Such as sending her to the DF and skyping her as one commenter so wisely mentioned.) Candy thinks it sucks that these two kids have to suffer so much.

Lazaro strides through the town and says he’s got to do something to help El Capitan. Nereo gets in his face and says Laz needs to make a very important delivery to Hernan right now. He knows what “right now” means, verdad? Because Cap Fab ain’t going anywhere “right now.”

EsterHada wonders about this Damian. She feels he wasn't  just a nightmare but someone who existed in her life. But she can’t remember who he is.

Dam stews in his own tears, thinking about how he broke up with Marina and broke her heart. He only wants her to be happy although it will be without him.

Bagre sees Marina crying and wonders what’s up? Marina tells him what Dam did but Bagre can’t believe it. She can’t forget Dam because she loves him with all her soul. Sometimes love feels just like a ball and chain baby.

Hernan’s guy said he did what Hernan asked. “Good, one rat less in the world,” thinks Herny. He’s quite the sociopath, our nerdy little violinist.

Over at Casa de Reverte Tia Becky can’t believe Dam gave Marina the old heave ho. Marina doesn’t want to tell mom but she eavesdrops, or walks into the room or something, and hears anyway. Bea takes this opportunity to say she TOLD Marina that DamHunk was going to make Marina suffer. However, that doesn’t make him a murderer. He might be a murderer of hearts but of bodies? Nopis!

Madre E visits Dam. He says he busted up with Marina to protect her. He just wants her to be happy. Notice how he’s telling everyone who comes to visit that he’s only breaking up with Marina to save her? I don’t expect this secret to stay hidden for long. Unless Marina is too stupid to believe it. Madre E aks Dam how he’s gonna feel when Marina falls for another guy. Huh? Shoot, Dam hadn’t thought of that. There is another scene of this, tears. Yawn.

Tia Becky says she knows men much better than Marina and she’s convinced Dam loves Marina. She says she’s going out to get some air. Hmmmm....Hope she visits her galpal Candy to get the 411 on Dam that he is announcing city-wide.

Over at La Guacamaya Candy thought bubbles Dam is willing to split from his honey in order to save her, but she knows Marina is the love of Dam’s live.

Bea visits Dam in jail. She doesn’t believe he’s a murderer but he’s a jerk for destroying Marina’s heart. She calls him a dishonest hypocrite for promising, in God’s house, to protect Marina! He’s worse than she ever imagined. They say his dad was good, how sad that Dam didn’t take after him. She demands that when he gets out of jail he stay FAR AWAY from her daughter. “You, sir, are a bastard!”

Mañana: Lazaro gets mixed up in some risky business.

Thanks, Cap'n..I c ouldn't sleep Tuesday night, so last night I fell asleep on the sofa about 7.30 and missed my novelas, so I especially appreciate your speedy recap.

Hmmm...Usanlynn..Perhaps that is Susanlynn's evil twin ....I guess I am still half asleep this morning..yawn...

Great recap with panache. I loved, "knew a girl like Ursula in high school. She always had mean ideas that got everyone else in trouble but she never got busted. She looked pretty worn out at the 20 yr reunion; I think 24/7 bitchitude really takes it out of you. Take note Ursula." Yeah, I think I knew that same girl. She did look really bad at the reunion.
Loved, "Macweirdo". Really true, what is he, some kind of eunuch?
The storyline is idiotic. Yea, there is only one town in the world, and so much better to break up with your one true love and marry other people you hate just so someone in town won't throw a rock at you.

This story has reached that point all the TN’s eventually reach. Always, at this point, my husband, who up until now has not paid much attention looks up and says, “They should just move.”

Thank you, Cap'n for your detailed and snarky recap.
I love the ick alert and the shrew crew.
This episode had some sad scenes. I felt for Mercedes when Magdalena denied her as her mother and when DamFab broke it off with Marina. Both very heart wrenching scenes.
Dumb Bea couldn't wait to run to the jail and let DamFab have a piece of her simple mind. If she stopped and thought for a second she would realize the real reason that DamFab did what he did. She never let him speak. Once again #shutupbea

Perfect title Sylvia, and you did a fab job not lingering on the stupidity and tears and just giving us the best stuff.

Funny, I just had my 20 year reunion this summer, and I can say the same about the mean girls.

I don't understand why Marina is so stupid that she can't see exactly why Dam did what he did. He's already suggested a few times that they should break up to make her life easier. Then she goes home crying about it. Idiot. Where's the woman who just stood up to a mob, and walked away after getting struck in the head with a rock?

Nice to see flashes of the real Estercita coming out in Hada's snippiness, appreciation of shiny objects, appreciation of her own beauty, and starting to ask questions about her past. Not sure if Ernesto will like it if too much of her real forceful personality continues to emerge.

Good morning everyone. I almost thought we had a new kid in class with Usanlynn. Bet they called you Oozin' Lynn in school, eh? Oh, it's just our SUSANlynn playing tricks on us again.

I have really been burning the candle at both ends and was literally dozing off last night while trying to watch the episode and do the recap. At one point I thought I was watching last night's episode by mistake what with Dam's teary monologues and Mercy's weepy speech over Mag's bad manicure.

If I left anything important out or got something not quite right please add it in your comment.

TJ, yep there were some sad scenes. I also felt bad for Mercedes but really, how did she expect Mags to react? Mercy has been working her whole life for this, but Mags has been working just to keep herself alive and probably blaming her mother for it. I wonder if Magdalena will be good or bad?

How funny that we all knew one of "those" girls in school. I'm long past my 20 yr reunion but it's the last one I went to.

Cap'n:

This is a marvelous, wonderful, snarky recap and such fun! So enjoyed every word.

I agree with you about Mercy. All Mags has ever known is pain, and not being wanted. She probably still thinks that Mercy is some kind of Madame. I think her reaction was on the money, but I hope sometime, she does listen to Mercy and lets her explain exactly what happened when she was a baby.

Bea is quite fond of speaking her mind, isn't she? She didn't stop to think that DamTearful did what he did to protect Marina, and she wouldn't listen to him either. I was quite surprised that she actually admitted he was no murderer. But she is in Mama Bear mode and trying to protect her daughter. Let's hope she doesn't go pushing Marina at ole Herny again.

Speaking of Herny, he is an enigma, I must say. Organized, cunning, deceitful, I could go on and on with this guy. What amazes me is he has feelings. Especially for his parents and the trafficked girls being treated well, even though he is the sub head of that organization.

Ursula is trouble with a capital T. Maycucu and Ursula make a perfect mean girl team. I wonder if Ursula knew Dam when she was a kid.

I am liking Delfina. She went straight to the source for info. I like how she has a spine with Fully too.

I did laugh though when Macario and Hada/Ester went shopping and he held up that bra on himself and Hada took it, lol. I know it was ICK but there were some funny parts there.

Can't wait for tonight to see what Laz is gonna do!

Sylvia, I laughed and laughed throughout your recap.

Thank you for making a somewhat boring and gloomy episode shine with your witty remarks. The happy times of White! Wet! Pants! are gone.

Madelaine, I agree that Herny has brains, a plan, means, and passion to follow through. He is a complex character, gross but captivating to watch.

Unlike DamCryingIdiot who has a big heart, kissy lips, and big fists but is reactive rather than proactive.

Bea's "I told you so" speech was cruel. You know he is not a murderer, he is in jail, and you go there to put him down even more. Good timing Bea.

Is Marina pregnant?!!!

I forgot to mention that today is "Talk Like a Pirate Day". We haven't seen the pirates here in a long time though ; )

Can I also say that the wardrobe people picked THE UGLIEST outfit to put Damian in for his multiday stay in the hoozgow! Everyone else gets to change outfits (and Marina has had some cute ones), but we have to see Dam in that ugly brown burlap sack-like collar-less shirt, episode after episode. And his weave is looking it's worst in these scenes too. Ugh!

Cap'n...I did have a younger cousin who couldn't pronounce "s" who called me "Hoosan" and "Hooey." in high school everyone else called me "Susy, " except Alvin who always called me "Susan," but he ended up in jail..twice...another story for another day. We called him "Schultzie" after Dutch Schultz...the gangster...hmmm..foreshadowing ??? -----Hub calls me Sue....which I hate.

What a funny recap, Sylvia. Great job.

I was so happy to see a flash of our old Estercita... if only for an instant. I'm so looking forward to her return. I wonder what her relationship with Ursula was like before?

Vivi,

"I don't understand why Marina is so stupid that she can't see exactly why Dam did what he did."

And I don't understand why Damián was so stupid to say what he did. It seems to me as though this might be a good time for everyone to pull together. Also it looked to me as though he was smirking throughout Beatriz's rant.

Wow, Hernán frets about his parents murder and yet feels no compunction at all about knocking off a little couple that he views a inconvenient.

I'm so frustrated by those elaborate delicate terrariums. They are sitting there just begging to be shattered in a fit of anger.

Carlos

Mads...WHAT???? Talk Like a Pirate Day ??? Does Cap'n know ...yo-ho-ho ?????Did you watch the dance show last Sunday ?? KendrHO was shaking it like a Polaroid.

Carlos- Ah yes. Damian was definitely the one conducting the stupidity train. But Marina just hopped on aboard.

Well blow me down, it's talk like a pirate day? Guess who will be driving everyone crazy on the train today? Arrrrrr!

Carlos, ever since y'all mentioned those terrariums they have been driving me nuts. They are doomed. Unless the owner of the house has a protection clause about them.

Have a nice day everyone!

Still Mad Bess:

Arrhhhh, I missed it. Will watch it this Sunday though, I also missed the shirtless Pablo : (

Cap'n,

Yes, it is talk like a pirate day, shiver me timbers, arrrhhhhhh ; ) I have been listening to sea shanties and my favorite is still "What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor" lol.

Tantrums and crystals
Two things that never last long
Why are you still here?

Cap'n Sylvia - Thanks a bunch. My favorites:

"Warning, crazy violin music over at Neptuno."

"I’ll say this for Herny, he does appear to have an organized mind.

"DamUnoriginal"

At one point Dam was facing Marina when he had tears in his eyes. So I was hoping she'd wise up, but nope. Think Bea - if Dam were a player, he'd keep stringing Marina along while he was behind bars so he could have conjugal visits. A real player wouldn't dump her until after he got released.

Dam's hair is starting to trouble me. It seems to be wet in the jail cell and I can't figure out why.

Neice in MD:

About the hair, it's the sweat you see, lol. Marina's hair was lookin' a mite damp too. They must be filming in some hot, humid weather or they turned the air conditioning off in the studio while filming that la carcel segment.

Gracias Cap'n

Shiver me timbers!, today is speak pirate day, arrrggg

Madelaine - Poor man. I at least hope they let him take a shower soon. :D

Not new to you all but havent posted in a while. Im troubled.
Damian gets no clean clothes? Why is his hair a mess? (Sweat). He married Ester to save her rep but doesnt care if the whole town knows about his and Marinas relationship. Please writers no more love scences with old men.

Good Golly, Miss Sylvie -- oh sorry. I mean, Cap'n Sharkbait -- when you turn out a tour de force like this one, you make it harder for the rest of us!

"DamHelplessInJail hears the mob of townspeople whip themselves into a frenzy against Frankenstein’s monster. No wait. Wrong story"

Come on. How is anyone supposed to follow a great line like that? [Sharp-eyed viewers will recognize the head cheerleader as one of the "Jarochas" in Triunfo del Amor. I guess the actress just can't catch a break.]

"She calls [Lolo] panzón"
Hah. That's what Frida called Diego in the movie. Too bad MayaStoner is no Frida.

About Lolo's accent -- listen for the occasional "tío" and "vale vale." Since he doesn't try to hide his European Spanish, maybe we'll get some kind of back story on him.

Hernán, on the other hand, seems to be trying to sound neutral Mexican. It's funny that we all want to call him Eurotrash.

"Didn’t anyone tell Delfina it’s not nice to fool with Madre Nature?"
Yeah, no kidding. I was throwing Pescadazos* at the screen when Delfie blustered right into Eusebia's trance. The nerve!
*Pescadazo: Fish made of foam rubber, ie, a fishy nerf suitable to throwing at delicate electronics. Not recommended for glass terrariums.

"The hairdresser accidentally pulls her hair and we get about a half second of original cranky Estercita."
Oh she's in there all right!

As for Ursula's 20th reunion, I believe that has come and gone. What you see is what you get: a mean woman scrounging around Aunt Delfina's table for scraps, one of which is Uncle Fulgie.

I'm disappointed in Bagre though. I thought he would see right through DamTransparent's ruse. Tía Tiburona wasn't fooled though.

So much DamSuffering, hypocrites stoning the innocent and the righteous -- it is positively biblical.

Mads:

I noticed that Dam's jail visitors were also sweating -- Candy and Eusebia had a nice "glow" going. Can't remember about Beatriz -- I was too annoyed by her stupidity to pay attention to look for pit stains.

It must have been hotter than the hinges of Hades on that set.

Ahoy, mi hearties !!!! good news !!!. I recently discovered a hidden treasure...in my freezer. My daughter left a couple of those frozen drink packs in my freezer when she visited us in August....the kind with the booze already in them...Kudos to whatever genius came up with that most brilliant concept. With any luck, one will have some rum in it in honor of SPEAK LIKE A PIRATE DAY...Yo-ho-ho and a frozen pack of rum.

Every time I try to think of things to write for speak like a pirate day it comes out more like Speak like a parrot day. arrrgh.

Emarie, get thee to La Guacamaya!!

Cap'n...About the shoes, back in the day, I used to wear spike heels, but these new style heels that are currently in vogue go against the laws of physics....Notnthat I remember any of tjose laws but...anyhoo....When I get to college early (to get a parking space closer than 2 blocks away, I often walk across campus to check my mailbox in the main building , and then I sit on a bench outside to take in a little fresh air and sunshine before I am stuck inside teaching for several hours. I watch mesmerized as women walk on the cement sidewalks wearing those scary , treacherous highhhh heels..They seem to be trying to look cool (hot???) while also trying not to fall and break something on the cement pavement. I try not to stare but....I do....I cannot take my eyes off them. Is it worth breaking a bone for fashion ????

Oh Susanlynn...of course it's worth breaking a bone for fashion. Lord, I walked all around Europe I think in pointy toed spike heels. My feet are RUINED. Beyond repair. But I was in my 20's and immortal. And now these gals are immortal. But...we'll see how they navigate at their 20th reunion.

This episode had me muttering Estupido! Estupido! If Candy and cohorts don't get this straightened out soon I'm going to have to take a Sulk Break from this telenovela.

In the meantime, great recap for being burned out at both ends, Cap'n Sylvia.

Especially enjoyed your sly "veritable tempestad of spirits around her {Eusebia} and

"he's DamCrabby"

Well, I'm damn crabby too. I hate these plot turns. Gah! And gag me with a spoon while you're at it.

Cap'n enjoy your Pirate day! I sure enjoyed your recap, as usual. We can either laugh or cry about this novela and you sure made us laugh. I hope you get some rest soon!

DamGoodLooking is looking pretty DamBad these days. He needs a shower and shave in the worst way. Only DamGorgeous could get away with it and still make us want to take him home and clean him up.

Bea continues to lose points with me, with her self-righteous, snobby indignation. We didn't get to see her reaction to Mercy's warning about Herny.

I'm hoping that Tia's brain circuits are still working. Maybe she'll figure out the great mystery of why DamMad told Marina it's over.

Marea Primavera

Sylvia, another sparkling summary.

I smiled and laughed my way through this - so many wonderful lines but my favorite was "Macweirdio shows EsterHada how to apply makeup. He holds a bra up to himself. Not sure what else to say about this little shopping spree". Most excellent!

Angst and pain were palpable last night. As you noted Carlos, inexplicable decisions on both Marina and Dambadjudement's part. And yes Vivi, Marina seemed to have unending courage with the mob but not against Dambadbehavior's tears.

Madelaine, I thought for a fleeting moment Bea might think more of Dam as he released Marina, valuing her safety. But, I imagine any mother cannot endure her child's tears so unfortunately, she let that rule what she did. Think Dam is in a no win situation with Bea. Period.

Sylvia, the warmth and sunshine are radiating - and not just from the beautiful weather here but from your care and attention to detail with great wit and wisdom.

Diana

question : The other day when they met, the new girl in town slapped the crap out of Maycucu, but did she also slap the cucu out of her ??? Now that, would be helpful, but my guess is...no...no, she didn't....and Maycucu is still cucu. So, who will win the baddest girl in town when Estercita returns...new girl or old Ester ????

Thanks so much Sylvia! As others have commented, you did a great job sifting through all the sobbing and just letting us know the big stuff.

Vivi, I should just cut and paste your comments in as mine. ISTA. Especially regarding the mustard flash dance shirt. Last night he actually had to pull it up over his shoulder when it fell off. QTH wardrobe? The pest is all pretty woman makeover and Dam is 1980s?!

Thanks again, Cap'n!

Katy

Thanks so much, Sylvia, for the fabulous recap! And thanks to all recappers. You're all really talented!

I haven't been on here much...a busy time for me...but had to comment on the idiocy that is taking over in some characters. I think Damian is completely ridiculous in what he is doing. Does he think rejecting Marina is going to save her? He may be throwing her right into Hernan's arms, and she just might do it out of anger when the pain subsides...if ever. I don't fault Marina in not realizing what he's doing. In reality, they haven't been together that long so how does she know that he's feeling he got what he wanted and now he can say adios? Let's not forget he married Esthercita, and his reasoning in that regard was for me entirely ridiculous.

As for Bea, I was glad she gave him hell at the jail. I've been pretty irritated by her in the past with her Hernan swooning, but I'm with her on this one...except for the "stay away from my daughter" part of it.

And as for those women who are out to run Marina out of town, I mean do people really act like this? I know this is a TN, but I think this is completely stupid as well.

Excuse my ranting, por favor, but last night was pretty irritating viewing for me:)

Sylvia, your recap was one of the high points of my day--hilarious! Thanks for making it happen.

NovelaMaven "hypocrites stoning the innocent and the righteous -- it is positively biblical." loved this

Hi, Sylvia: What a great recap and I love the title. I am just back to the Patio after a week away, so, I will go catch up on recent haps so I can recap the show tonight. Thanks to all of our recappers—Mads, Gloria, Mauricio, Sylvia, and Novela Maven for filling in the blanks in the last week's goings on.

I am very glad to be back with you all in R-Lay-Dee.

Elna June

I think Damian's "smirking" at what Bea was saying to him was intentional. He wants to make sure that Marina stays away from him (for her safety, of course), so he was "acting" all "canaya" with her and her mom so that they would believe it. Inside, his heart is breaking, but he cares more about protecting his one true love from the mob. Of course, he could've just told Bea why he was doing it and asked for her help in protecting Marina, but this is a tn, after all. Common sense is not common in these.

Sylvia - thanks for this great recap. You were hilarious. I especially like your witty observations.

Good evening everyone, and thank you for your comments. Even though I wasn't able to respond (much), I was able to read and thoroughly enjoy your points of view. But now my feet are up, I have a glass of wine, I'm playing my Sons of the Buccaneers sea shanty CD, and I can savor every word.

Yes, I am happy to report I used pirate speak at most every opportunity today. It's funny, people really get into that pirate crapola.

Boozinlynn...snort! I nearly took a tumble when I read that. And darn good question about who will be the baddest girl in town, Ester or Ursula? I'm gonna go with Ursula, but if you throw Tia Becky into the mix I'd have to go with the Tia. She's not wicked but I'll bet she could be a badass for truth, justice and the...oh juarever.

"Damian was definitely the one conducting the stupidity train. But Marina just hopped on aboard." Oh goodie, I've got to add that to my IttyBittyDitty Bag of future plagiarisms.

Vita, our resident poet, another perfect haiku.

Ms. Maven, I've heard that panzón and gordo can be used as terms of endearment. Must be the tone of voice because Maycucu was definitely NOT endearing. But maybe that's why Lolo insisted she liked him, "un poquito"?

EJ, so glad you are able to join us on the patio. You must have remembered that Wednesdays are all-day happy hours. Ole!!
