Qué Bonito Amor #118 (Mex 156) Thursday 9/26/13 Que Inútil Día de Investigaciones
Milamores is called on to testify to Santos' good character. The prosecutor calls him on the lack of proof, which is apparently only required of the defense and not the prosecution. Milamores brings up the incarceration of his father for over 30 years without trial as proof of the US's crappy justice system. Of course, the prosecutor objects to this. Milamores calls for the immediate release of his father and Santos, both. The judge tells everyone to STFU, go home, cool off, and be prepared to behave like adults when they start the trial back up again or he'll kick everyone out.
OG is hanging out in Maria's new place. Gross! Don't touch the traje! You'll stain it with your grossness! He takes video of himself sniffing the traje as he taunts Santos that he's in Maria's room and if Santos doesn't declare himself guilty, OG will rape Maria. Not in so many words, but we all know that's what he means. He reminds Santos that he's being watched, so he'd better not do anything stupid.
Mirna is shocked to find out Ruben is planning to close down the bar as his revenge. He wants the mariachis out on the street. Not Mirna, though, he'll find a job for her. Mirna asks for compensation, from losing her job at the bar, I presume. Elvira walks in on them getting a little frisky and demands to know QTH is going on.
Aaron and Paloma walk back toward her place as Vanessa and her friend walk up. The friend bumps into Paloma to make her spill her frappé. Girl! I have started a fight over someone spilling my frozen drink! Paloma goes inside to change clothes as Aaron accuses the friend of doing it on purpose.
Mancia sees a woman from the past in the cards, coming to screw things up.
Ruben refuses to explain his behavior and leaves the room. Mirna taunts Elvira that when Santos is freed, Maria will have him AND his millions. On the other hand, Elvira will be broke, since her father signed over the bar to Ruben.
Maria tells the mariachis to behave themselves already. Justo counsels calm. The guys can all tell the prosecutor has it in for Santos.
The prosecutor screams at Derecho and Curtis that he's going to lose the case because of their ineptitude…and Curtis' testimony. The prosecutor says that if they lose, Justo will win his suit against the city and they'll lose their jobs and their pensions.
For some reason, Santos and Maria are given some time alone in the courtroom to snog. Oh, wait, there's a guard. Voyeur! Blah, blah, blah, justice, blah, blah, blah, snogging.
Ana goes to the orphanage and finds out that Jalisquito was already transferred.
Irasema hopes the woman in the cards isn't an old flame of Santos'.
The social worker apologizes, but with the influx of new kids, they didn't have room to keep Jalisquito there. The decision wasn't in her hands. Ana worries to the Virgen about what she's going to tell Fernando.
Maria and Justo work on the case. Maria says they haven't presented all the evidence in favor of Santos yet. Justo thinks that Summers has some kind of ace up his sleeve. He asks Maria what she's going to do if they lose. Maria says she won't go back without him.
Santos is feeling hopeful again.
Derecho is pissed at Curtis for what she said at the trial.
Summers is pissed that OG summoned him when they're not supposed to be meeting during the trial. Summers blames the ineptitude of the cops for the trial going so badly.
Derecho wants a separation from Curtis. Dumbass.
OG says he has conclusive proof to help Summers crush Santos.
Mystery blonde woman puts on a red dress.
The prosecutor apologizes to Milamores for what happened with his father. Milamores says that might have been a fluke, but what about the fact that Giuliano is still running around free? Justo enters Bruno's letter into evidence to back up Santo's accusation.
OG is visited by Bruno's ghost. Bruno's ghost shaved. What's up with that?
Ana goes to Amalia to tell her what's going on with Jalisquito.
Justo asks Susanito where they saw OG (in a hotel room) and why they went to talk to him (because Ruben told them that OG was the one who tried to kill Maria). Susanito explains that they were at the bar when the cops showed up and Santos and Maria went into her dressing room to escape, but somehow Maria's dressing room blew up. The prosecutor chooses to focus on the fact that they were trying to escape rather than the dressing room blowing up. *sigh* Justo wants it noted that Guiliano has been accused of quite a lot, including some murder attempts. Plus, he was the lawyer for Garza Cars, so he really ought to be there at the trial.
Ana wants to go to Guadalajara to get Jalisquito and she wants Amalia to be her tour guide.
OG meets with the mystery blonde, who tells OG not to worry. She also tells him that she can destroy him as easily as she can destroy Santos. Oh, but OG is The Godfather. Whatever.
Colosso is on the stand now, saying that Santos isn't a criminal. The prosecutor asks if maybe Colosso didn't like Santos because he knew Santos was hiding something. Colosso sticks to his story--Santos is innocent.
Mystery blonde prepares to enter the courtroom.
Lawyerly cockfighting. The prosecutor says he needs to call another witness, before the defense continues. The prosecution calls Susan Davis, aka, Blonde Mystery Woman, to the stand.
Mirna is out walking the streets--no, not like that…well, okay, maybe like that--when she runs into Malo, who asks her to take him to Ruben.
Susan Davis testifies that she was Santos' fiancée. She shows off her ring and says they never got married because if she didn't leave, he would have killed her. "I found out something terrible, something I never thought Santos could do…. He was using the export of cars to bring in huge amounts of money. I found out a long time ago that Santos is guilty." Santos can't restrain himself and gets up to scream at her that she's lying and that he never loved her and she knew it. The judge has Santos carted back to jail. I wonder if Justo knows this woman. Susan testifies that she was looking at Santos' personal accounts and she realized he was spending way too much. The prosecutor presents a dinner receipt for $15,000 as proof. Susan testifies that Santos threatened to kill her, Bruno, and Arnold.
OG toasts his brilliance.
Santos tells Michael that Susan has reappeared at the worst possible moment.
The judge calls for a recess.
OG declares that nothing can save Santos now. Delusional OG toasts himself as a potential Roman emperor.
Michael is in shock, especially at hearing that Santos is supposed to have proposed to her and given her an engagement ring. Santos doesn't think Maria will believe it, so he's not worried about that, but he is worried about that bank account none of them knew about.
Maria says they have to find something to show that what Susan's saying is a lie. Justo tells Maria that she never meant anything to Santos. Maria's not really worried about Santos' past. She can tell from Susan's behavior that her pants are on fire, but they need the truth and some frickin' evidence.
Maria explains to Don Nando that Susan was a secretary at Garza Cars and Santos was a bit of a player, but he never had any intentions of settling down. He sure as hell never proposed to anyone before Maria.
Maria points out that the mystery bank account was opened in Palmdale and not LA. Justo will look into it in the morning.
Justo gets the videos from the bank on the date the account was opened to find out who opened the account. Aaaaaand, it's our favorite BMW, Susan.
Maria's exhausted after a night of work. She prays to God, the Virgen, and St. Jude that Justo finds something.
The bank manager tells his video guy to play the other video they have of that same person…in which she's sucking face with OG in the same office, in front of a bank official.
OG and Susan toast to the great job she's doing. They both seem to have a personal interest in ruining Santos.
Maria watches the video that Justo has brought back. She can't believe they've finally found proof of Santos' innocence. Justo says he can finally keep the promise he made to his wife and Maria and Santos can finally be happy.
Tomorrow: Santos gets the death threat from OG and caves.

I was at this rehearsal tonight if you want to see what I've been up to. No pictures of me, since I keep being the one behind the phone/camera, but I'll ask someone to take some pictures of me rehearsing on Sunday. I also had an audition for a commercial on Wednesday, but no word yet on that.
Kat:
I fell asleep ZZZZZ again right after the first break. Darn!! --but ITA just with the title alone! Will have to see the last 2/3 before any real comment. LOL! Only 6 days left till we can deliver ourselves from the Elvironmental plague for good. Will be back to read this gem once I've seen the rest.......
I freaked at the avances. Shouldn't somebody be getting suspicious that Giuliano finds all this out so quickly and investigate how he does it? As for that guy with the cell phone in the courtroom, shouldn't the judge have been all over that?
It would be nice if Irasema could be reconciled with her brothers at the end of the story. She needs a break.
I was actually concerned that Wendy would turn out to be the woman in the red dress. Wouldn't have made sense unless we'd eventually get a flashback of her planning this with Giuliano.
As for last night, you cannot spring a last minute witness, let alone interrupt the defense's (or prosecutor's) examination of a witness. Each and every witness has to be named and furnished to each side ahead of time. This is NOT a Perry Mason show (we had our own Perry Jose Mason over on LaTemp) and even he kept to trial procedures.
Que Que What? Derecho is going to separate from Curtis at this point? He should have done that before he married her.
Summers' collusion needs to be exposed. (Rogelio Guerra seems to really need that cane.) Summers also should have known about the bank videos--if he was going to present bank account information, as what - evidence #431--and destroyed it ahead of time.
Jar--loved your reference to ridding ourselves from the Elvironmental Plague. But guess what, I don't even care anymore.
Ruben is the one I want to see exposed.
OJ? He's a delusional little twerp. I hope he DOESN'T go crazy and ends up in a mental institution. He deserves to be jailed for 28 years without a trial (oooouu, the possibilities are endless--it IS American justice after all, segun Mejia). I can just see OJ throwing tantrums in jail and all his in-prison "collaborators" steer clear of him.
Amalia sure has recovered nicely. She's perky, looking good, working hard and giving great consejos to Paloma. Now she's going to be a tour guide? Love it.
The prosecutor deserves prison time after being disbarred.
I currently have UniMas on for El Privilegio de Amar although I've already seen it twice. That's a great novela with fabulous performances.
Bruno the Bronze no longer looks so bronzed. Guess there is no spray tan or for that matter sunshine in hell where he is preparing a place for cousin full of himself OJ.
ANITA absolutely right we don't do trials by ambush in this country. Yes, one side can come up with a new witness during trial BUT the other side must be given time to do an investigation and to depose the new player. I know it is for dramatic impact so I'm giving them a pass simply because smart Justo and Maria did what Sommers did not and checked things out. Can't wait to see his face and and an OJ behind the scenes tantrum when they reveal what a lying skank Susan is. My guess is that she had a thing for the boss and he just wasn't that into her.
The appearance of the other woman also showed how far Maria and Santos have come. Pretrial Maria would have thrown a hissy fit and made a bunch wild accusation. This Maria calmly tells Justo it doesn't matter what she is because it is in the past and we are the future. Santos also echoed something along the same line when he told Michael Maria won't worry about it. Finally they are acting like grown ups.
I noticed a screw up last night during the frappe scene. Paloma has to go change her clothes and goes into the old building where we know she doesn't live anymore. Guess the writers or director forgot that.
I'm thinking Ruben has about 1 day left to live. Mirna turned the screws on Evile when she told her that Ruben had tricked her father about the bar. All along our little skank has figured she'd be in control of the whole bar and now she is going to have nothing. Even as dense as she is she should have picked up that Ruben has no use for her. I had thought there would be a showdown between Ruben and Oj but somehow I doubt that will happen unless once busted OJ heads back to the DF.
Oh for God's sake do we have to have Santos make another grandstand play to "save" Maria? I'm hoping that either Michael for Nando finds the threatening tape and find a way to get it to Justo or the judge.
I'm still amusing myself thinking about the mariachi contingent and Maria returning in triumph to the DF and oops where is everybody? Empty apartments and Ana and Amelia traipsing around Guadalajara.
OJ is responsible for three deaths all of which he committed himself - Bruno, Arnold and the Godfather. He has to end up dead but at whose hand is anybody's guess.
However, it would not be inappropriate for him to be "pushed" off a cliff by the "ghost."
Now, what to do with Amalia, the one of the amazing recovery. Tour guide, indeed.
Thank you, 5ft! You are one talented lady. :)) Oh, I nearly croaked when Summers revealed that his dislike of Justo is about GRADES in school! For crying out loud! Could anything be more ridiculous that that?!
Fatima
I want to know where they went to school. Justo is a Mexican citizen who was a diplomat and more than likely came from a high class family and would have gone to the best schools. Sommers is an American who from his actions doesn't come near to Justoin class or intelligence. At least it wasn't an enmity over a girl YAWN.
Couldn't help laughing when Sommers was lecturing both Maria and Fernando about the legal system and about being honest people when he himself is in the pocket of a second rate thug.
Now if only Juso can make Santos STFU so he can drop the bomb on Sommer and OJ.
