Qué Bonito Amor #104 (Mex 142) Friday 9/6/13 While Maria Aims High, Santos Is Still Feeling Lower Than Low and Justo Has A Bull's Eye Painted On The Middle of His Chest
Labels: QBA
Derecho and Curtis had the most unromantic wedding I've ever seen for a couple whose two halves apparently are both willing. I hope the writers spared us the wedding night.
I'm guessing that Giuliano is looking to get the $10MM and kill Justo, Wendy, and Maria anyway. Tony Soprano would whack him for that.
Also ITA with you wrt: "I thought this gal was supposed to be some sort of genius". EVEN BETTER!!!
You make our weekends special!!
Fatima
Urban, did you have your opera club affair today? Is this why you didn't provide us with another Super Saturday Discussion Topic?
You've spoiled us, Urban. You have spoiled us!!!
Fatima
I apologise for the lack of a weekend topic today. I'll have one for next weekend.

Jalisquito is a bad influence on Isa, and it isn't as if she couldn't get into enough trouble by herself. If Fernando wants to think of himself as the kid's father he better take some steps to get him under control — perhaps a few punishments like Isa is earning.
God help us the worst novela wedding ever. I honestly thought Curtis was going to jump Derecho right on the table - ugh. The only good thing I hope is that two ineptos are never seen again. They have two innocent men in prison only one of whom has actually had a trial and a three time killer out wreaking havoc. And, they are busy congratulating themselves on a job well done although Derecho may have a glimmer of doubt.
Not to be picky but where did Santos get that pencil back and paper as well?
OJ deserves to be whacked not only for all his killings but for that snotty stare and that awful spray tan. Reminds me of that hideous Man Tan we all used to try back in the dark ages.
Assron and Vainessa deserve a trip to the principal's office and expulsion. Two bigger brats I haven't seen in years. Considering that they seem to be going to a school located in a low rent district they certainly have an air of entitlement.
Speaking of entitlement I did laugh when Concho was moaning about how they had spoiled Elvirus rotten. He never said a truer thing and even he has no idea how rotten she really is. Question what did Lourdes do with that big sack of Mirna stolen money?
Amelia would NEVER send Paloma and Isa to boarding school. That would leave her with no one to indoctrinate with her possessive brand of love. Her entire existence revolves around her girls and her being a band of four, now three that stick together no matter what. She would never be able to face the possibility of any of them being far away and that could be only a few miles as far as she is concerned.
I knew that, that's why I said one can dream. :-) But it's the only way for the writers not to keep assaulting us with the totally boring, not-so-cute and unnecessary scenes that involve Paloma, Rodrigo, Isabel and Jalisquito. ;)

Frankly I could really do with Jen and Bufalo. They have no real ties to any of the other characters and no chemistry between them either. Thank God we should be free of the weird Derecho and the horrifying antics of Curtis. Fingers crossed.
They are not funny. They have never been funny and their stupid antics have never been funny. I guess I just missed the whole point of these characters.

They needed inept cops in LA and thus Dumb and Dumber. She however is one of the worst most annoying novela characters ever and that is saying something. Even the actor playing Derecho looked uncomfortable with her antics at times. I've seen him do some cringe worthy things in the past so I guess he is used to being a fool. I find it particularly jarring since most of the characters seem to be more rooted in reality. We may not like all of them but they could be people you'd meet in the course of your life but the Derechos are not.
I have to wonder at whether some of the writers hate gringos or why would they make us look like such idiots.
As for cops, I'd pray that Sherlock Juarez of AB would get transferred to D.F.
El Jalisquito has a good heart but he does need some rules to be set. Fernando needs to get on the ball about this.
The novela is written for a Mexican audience, most Mexicans don't care to much for Americans including hispanic Americans. Hence... the word "pocho" a passive aggressive term for Mexican Americans who have assimilated into the American way of life.
I won't even comment on how most of the world appears to hate people who are called "Americans."
So, in Mexico, the Jorge Salinas character would not have been well received, do you think?

I'm going to try to see it, but was just wondering if any of our Caray gang had seen it.
TIA. :)

The "Mariachi High", is it part of a series like "Frontline" or some such?
I don't see it in my listing, but will give it another go. This sounds so very interesting.
Thank you as always!
Fatima
I'll be on the look out for this, tho'

Decie--Spot on about Dumb Derecho and Dumber Curtis and how they seemed to be necessary characters, but they could be inept without being so UNfunny.
UA--Picking up where Decie left off, how about this for a weekend discussion:
"Worst most annoying novela characters ever."
It shouldn't be that hard to come up with a handful. Maybe we should have 3 categories--men, women and children. QBA has them all!!!
I can already see in the avances that Cowardly OJ, hiding up on a ridge or rooftop has already missed several opportunities to shoot Justo--that weapon he has surely has a heat-seeking missle warhead on the tip. Even if he's waiting for Justo to make the drop, surely the $$$ are somewhere in the car.
What makes OJ think that Justo HASN'T already left a note or told someone that if something happens to him, look for OJ. I'm going to enjoy OJ's coming karmageddon. He needs to end up in prison, permanently (I just finished re-watching LQNPA and saw Bruno's face as he contemplated his shortened life behind bars with a bunch of sex-deprived (could also be sex-depraved or both) toughs. OJ deserves no less.
I did get a kick out of the prison guard's convo in heavily-Spanish-accented English, revert to Spanish with an English accent with the warden, who only spoke Spanish.
I thought Amalia was back-peddling a bit on her 100% apoyo of Maria's long-distance relationship with Santos. Doesn't she point out how futile this relationship is, given that Santos returned the letter and if she goes to ElLay, he might refuse to see her...maybe it makes more sense not to go. She didn't go as far as to tell her it's an impossible love, but she came pretty close.
After watching the episode, I concluded that only the Avances moved the action forward.
Good thought on a weekender; it's time and we can come up with a very long list.
Oh yeah and in a society where machismo is raised to a high art I cannot imagine any Mexican man running around and blabbing to all and sundry about his inability to father children. If they mentioned it at all it would surely be blamed on the wife.
ANITA Of course Amelia backpedaled on the I support your love attitude — she doesn't and we all know it. I think Maria is finally turning a deaf ear to it. She really should focus some of her attention on her other daughters. Paloma is a teen pregnancy waiting to happen and Isa is going to end up in juevy if she keeps hanging around with the undisciplined Jalisquito. for truancy if nothing else.
Susanito also has a lot of emotional maturing to do. We would have difficulty in being confident being the son of Mancia.
Maria will recover before Susanito does.
