TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Week of September 2, 2013

Hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day weekend.  Here's your new page.

GENERAL

I put up a comment on last week's page, but here it is again.

Adriana, I won't be able to do any recaps for about 3 weeks.

I'm swamped getting ready for my vacation this week.

And this Saturday I leave for 2-1/2 weeks in Spain.

GENERAL

Novelera, enjoy your vacation (like I did mine) and have a safe trip.

Be sure to pack some autumn clothes for Spain, weather is a tricky thing this time of year.

And to think we'll be only about 650 miles apart (depending on where you plan to go)...

When you get back from your vacation, let us know if you want to recap the show, I enjoyed your take on things very much.

MARIDO

I'll be back with a brief recap in a couple of hours... Not to worry, though, most of you are still asleep as far as I know :)

MARIDO - Monday
Part 1

After signing some papers the realtor brought her, Gris is happy she paid the advance for the new house. She can’t believe she will finally have her own home. So is this all? Sure thing, the realtor assures, he just has to take care of a few simple details, like the owners association…

At Casa Palmer-Ibarra, TC is overjoyed with the idea that with the help of all the other owners in the Condominio, she’ll destroy Gris, and this time once and for all.

At the restaurant, Rei and Simon talk about how crazy TC has gotten over Gris moving in next door; Rei can’t understand why would Gris do such a thing (don’t worry, Chef, we don’t get it, either!) and is sure life in his house will become a nightmare and things will soon get out of control.

Esther is working on her designs from Alba’s house (?); she is sending them to JP, who doesn’t like them. He is practically throwing a hissy fit, making all the employees feel uncomfortable. On her side, Esther is not willing to cave, either, she is hurt because he cheated, but she seems more annoyed that he won’t accept her wanting to become a mom no matter what. Beatriz is trying to be the voice of reason, advising Esther to talk to JP, but it’s worthless – they’re both decided to act like teenagers and I’m decided to not care about them anymore.
I’ve missed a few episodes, so I might be wrong, but the cheating part seems to be handled as just a hiccup as opposed to the big in vitro situation. In my world cheating is worse… but what do I know.
Alba allows for Beatriz’ eggs to become available for fertilization.

Barbie looks on as K and little K play…so she’s not all evil inside, just 99%.

Amalia phones Tony to let him know they plan to go see the new house and he should come, too. Amalia is a sweetheart, but she should learn to mind her own business, maybe keep an eye on that jewel she has as a novio.
Tony is at school and asks Pati to give him a ride to the new place, because, surprise, they’ll be neighbors.

Gris&family ( sans Tony) arrive at the Carrasco Mansion To Be and are all extremely happy with the new place. Imagine that everyone, including Little K, will have their own room – In the mean time, at the poor Palmer-Ibarra Mansion, where there are only three bedrooms and poor tia Iris has to live in the ugly posada, TC is almost having a stroke, seeing the new neighbors.
But that’s nothing compared with how she gets when she sees Pati come home with Tony.

She and Pati get into a huge (I mean HUGE) fight; TC wants Pati to move to Europe for a year, study there, become all cosmopolite (meaning she wants her to be as far away from Tony as possible). Pati won’t hear any of it, calls TC crazy several times, TC slaps her and Pati runs from the house.

MARIDO - Monday
Part 2

In the meantime, next door Tony joins the family, wants to know which one will be his room. To make the story short, he is completely annoying, isn’t apologizing for what he did but expects to be forgiven, his siblings can’t keep their mouth shut about the whole thing and Gris tries to hold her determination not to forgive that poor excuse of a son she has.
Tony: “If you don’t forgive me, I’ll walk out that door and you’ll never see me again.”
Gris: “Do you promise?”
BURN!!!
Basically Gris tells him that she is well aware of the fact that if she had no money, he’d still act like a jerk (not that he’s all that lovable, anyway, with his “I miss my family” whine) and be ashamed of her, so that really means that he has no character (truer words have never been spoken).
Tony leaves and Amalia (shut up, you little girl) warns Gris that Tony might be walking out forever (or something like that, I was too annoyed with her to pay attention). So, in a moment of weakness, Gris decides to forgive him, invites him to stay with them in the house. UGH… UGH…UGH…

Outside the house Tony and Gris see that Pati is crying. Tony goes to her, jumps into the car. Pati tries to make him go away, but he won’t let her leave alone in the state that she’s in. So they ride off together and later on Pati tells him that she would have wanted to go talk to her dad, but she didn’t want to take him away from the restaurant during rush hour. She doesn’t know where she’ll live, so Tony suggests she live with him (please, God, let it be the posada, not the new house).

At the restaurant, we get the same old boring dialog about all the tables being occupied, all the clients being content and so on and so forth. Vanesa is drooling all over Rei, as usual, with Simon looking on. Leo and Peny have come to eat together, apparently she is famous (what is the sport she practices?) and he is Clara’s boy, so they get the ok for now. He has no clue how to use all the glasses on the table (and I bet he isn’t any better with the cutlery, either) – this, added to his overall personality makes me wonder what a classy girl like Peny is doing wasting her time with him.

Tia Iris tells her lover friend/ assistant the truth about what TC has done (she did kill her mother, like we speculated); so the guy thought bubbles that maybe going after the niece might end up being the better plan, since this is where the money comes from.

Elsa has the night off and TC decides to throw Ro out for the time being, too, because she wants to be alone in HER HOUSE, with HER STUFF. So, when that mafia guy calls, pretending to be someone doing a survey, TC screams from all her lungs that she is alone and she needs nobody else to feel good.
So he just barges in and I hope he scares her good because today she has been especially hysterical and annoying.

Thanks so much Adriana. Great job jumping back in.

Yeah, JP and Ester are both getting on my last nerve right now. Can’t believe the writers made such good characters so hateful.

You are so right in describing that fight TC and Pati had. It was huge! I was proud of Pati for standing her ground so firmly against a force of nature like TC.

I don’t think Gris has forgiven Tony. She has just resigned herself to who he is. She didn’t welcome him back with open arms—just simply because he is part of the family and the majority of the family wants him to live with them. I think she would still say he is lacking in character if asked, and likely will never completely open her heart to him again, until he finally gives her a heartfelt apology. I’m not sure what it will take to make the self-centered jerk do that though.

It was nice to see him showing concern for someone else for a change, and comforting Pati. Of course, he then turns that into an excuse to encourage Pari to spend the night with HIM. Why not suggest she stay with her Paloma in her rooms, instead? Nope, it’s always about Tony.

MARIDO:

Sorry. That previous post should have been labled MARIDO.

MARIDO:

Thanks, Adriana, nice recap!

As for JP and Esther, the cheating WAS big, Esther told him she never wanted to see him again, and moved out. The only way I see for them getting back together is for JP to give in, saying okay we can have the in vitro baby, but forgive me for the cheating. But the fact that Beatriz may be the donor adds more possibilities (none of them good).

The mafia guy overheard Iris tell Mario about TC, so I thought HE was the one to go after the niece and her money. Which he proceeded to do.

I agree about Tony, he really has to see what he's doing wrong. Even last night, he lied to Pati while begging for a ride, saying his Mom had let him back into the house (later she did, but not originally. In fact, he wasn't supposed to know about it, but Amalia told him). So he really has to see that although he works hard, and probably loves Pati, he needs to work on his character, as Gris said.

Penny's a champion in kite surfing.

SANTA DIABLA:

Just a reminder, I try to do recaps for Tuesday and Wednesday nights' shows, the other days, I may just have a comment, so other recaps are welcomed (I know some of you have done them, thank you!).

Santiago blew Bert's mind by introducing Willy (Guillermo) as "my son"! Of course Bert knows this isn't true, but he can't say anything w/o blowing HIS whole revenge/manipulation/humiliation plan, so he keeps quiet.

But as usual, Ines is a troublemaker, and Santi has to pretend he's with her, suffering while Ines cuddles Willy. Sam is suffering, too, but finally realizes that what Santi did was good, since the kid will live there with them. Begona finds out Santi's with them, but doesn't trust him, and neither does Paula.

Mara's NOT pregnant. Hortensia uses the fainting from high pressure to high pressure Art into not postponing the wedding.

And Gaspar finds out someone forged his check (George). The stupid bank should never have cashed it, but at least there were security cameras, and Gaspar will find out tomorrow who did it (time for more mayhem from George :)

Patricio continues to stalk through Vicky's things. Carlos hasn't discovered him yet, but did see the Te Amo on the laptop screen.

Santi hasn't actually broken any laws with his 3 other identities, they explain, because although identity theft is serious here (I don't exactly see how it's identity theft, though), he only used the fake names in other countries. Yeah, right. Anyway, Bert tells Ines if she can find out what Santi did, he'll guarantee her she can marry Santi in 2 months. This is preposterous, because if Santi gets put in jail, she WON'T be able to marry him. But I don't think Miss Ines is thinking that clearly about her "precioso"!

MARIDO

Welcome back, Adriana, hope your trip was wonderful. And thank you for your great recap this morning.

ITA with your take on the Esther-JP situation. In my world the cheating would be their #1 problem, especially since the in vitro issue and design disagreements have been worsened by both of them. And I think Esther's hanging out at Alba's house is her passive-aggressive way of irritating JP.

I was so disappointed that Gris folded on Tony's moving into the mansion. He has learned that he can manipulate his way out of everything (which, all things considered, can be a great survival skill). But he has no remorse or guilt for trashing his mother's feelings - or even Pati's for that matter. I'll be really disappointed if he just skates through this tn with no suffering for the pain he has caused.

TC meets mafioso. He'll be sorry to meet the craziest woman in town. He should have paid closer attention to Iris telling lover boy about TC killing her own mother.

I hope Kikito's telling K he should marry Barbie isn't a bad omen.

Beth

MARIDO:

Although it annoys me that Quique and Amalia take Tony's side and pressure Gris, it's actually refreshing that this tn didn't go the jealous sibling route. It would have been so easy to make Q and Amalia jealous of Tony. Instead, they accept him, the way he is, just like they accept each other, and stick by him. Siblings, UNITE! Even Kikito gets in on it. Poor Gris can never win.

SANTA

Thanks, Hombre, for the great mini-cap. What a fun time the Canos had welcoming Guillermo into their happy family. Fran telling Ines that Guillermo looks just like Santi was a hoot. But then, we've commented on several occasions about Santi looking like a big Willy replacement. And Ines was unbelievable, acting like a 10 year old who just got a puppy for Christmas.

Fran and (?can't remember his name) kissing in her bedroom was very risky with so many people in the house. But when Bert barged in, he looked mildly amused, like he knows what's going on between them.

I chuckled over, "Hortensia uses the fainting from high pressure to high pressure Art into not postponing the wedding." Exactly my thought. And I do hope Mara shows up at the wedding.

We never heard how much George stole. But he has all night to keep Gaspar from seeing the bank security tapes.

Patricio is getting creepier. What's he looking for in Vicky's room?

Paula is getting creepier. She does wide-eyed crazy very well.

Beth

DYO lunes, minicap

Lupita is upset about Ruben’s retraction, even though he says they both need to be with their respective terminally ill mothers right now.

EDmilio offers Gema an apartment and she’s thinking they’ll live together and play “happy family”. Later when he’s not looking she sneaks a business card with his address and plans to “surprise” him. That should go well.

Mireya is discovered standing on her own two feet by Padre Fransisco when he walks into the casita unexpected. He thinks it’s a miracle at first, but then puts the pieces together and realizes she’s been lying to everyone. Mireya tells her story: after the accident she was determined to walk again and so she managed to build strength in her legs little by little and eventually walk, and she started to call Dad and Pedro to tell them the good news until she realized that Pedro hadn’t mentioned wanting to break up since the accident, so she decided to keep it quiet. She swears the priest to secrecy invoking the privacy of confession, and he responds “confession without penance…” Then comes the merrinche about how her suffering has been more than enough penance. (So this whole confession-confidentiality thing… does it apply to anything you say to a priest at any time? I’m not Catholic, but I always assumed there was some sort of confession procedure that had to take place…)

Mireya manipulates Neto with a couple of kisses and a couple would-you-do-anything-for-me’s. Poor guy is on cloud nine.

JM mourns alone in his office, Isabel offers condolences and says that she will always be there for him… she knows what it’s like to lose someone you care about (is she referring to her father, or losing Angel to prison, or is there something else we don’t know about yet?).

AA and Mariano suspect Tomas of being involved in K’s death. Mariano confronts him at the house telling him to leaving Ignacia alone, and asking him what happened with Karina. Tomas winds up physically throwing him out of the house.

Isabel suspects Angel or one of his buddies in K’s death (since the story is that it was a robbery attempt), and this really ticks mom off.

AA sneaks out, then gets caught by Iggy sneaking back in around 2am. AA says she was having dinner with an old friend, but Ignacia isn’t buying it.

Karina’s ghost appears to Estela. Tomas is sick of hysterics and tells her to calm the &%$* down or he’ll put her in a manicomio.

Pedro confronts Gina about her past relationship with Mariano, she says they were seeing each other several years ago in Europe, and please don’t tell anyone.

**Sidenote: By the way, I can't remember if I mentioned this in last Friday's recap, but did anyone notice Gina's Incredible Changing Skirt in that episode?? It went from one very different pattern to another as she went back and forth several times between the kitchen, the living room, and the courtyard outside. Totally cracked me up.

MARIDO/SANTA

I haven't been able to watch these in a while but have been checking in with the recaps... thanks everybody!! They just haven't grabbed me the way DYO has (surprisingly), and I really don't have time to watch them anymore. So I reeeeeally appreciate everyone's recaps!

Marido,

welcome back Adriana,
and thank you so much for another wonderful recap,

didn't Griselda first offer Antonio a room over the garage, servants quarters, I thought that was pretty generous, but giving him a room in the house, I didn't like this at all, but, we can't help but see what a warm and loving family this is,

that was a HUGE fight, because TC went from suggesting, to ordering, to physically attacking Pati, this could be the last straw for Reinaldo, but I imagine there will be plenty of last straws,

Tia Iris and Mario are like from another planet at the posada, but I see the mafia guy has found them there, I was confused if he heard them talking quietly (what timing) because he was outside a closed window, but he smiled, and I'm lost as to him living in the house Griselda bought, I guess he's moved,

and I'm not sure what his plan is with TC, probably just a visit.

DyO

thanks Amy!

Neto is on "cloud nine",
but I think Mireya enjoyed the kiss as well,
no matter what she tells herself,
and I still find it interesting Mireya didn't throw in with Tomas,

Isabel is way to obsessed with Angel doing something bad,
I would like to see her with her own place,
her mother is hopeless,

Gema was pretty feisty at the start,
I hope she still is,

I'm loving Karina still being with us, reminds me of "Victorinos",

so were the extra heavy duty meds that Tomas gave the nurse money for, just for his dad, maybe there is nothing wrong with him, but I can see Estela in her own wheelchair right next to him.

SANTA

With so many secrets going around in the Casa Cano, I had to LOL at the way they all used Ines and Santi's romance to hide their dirty little tricks.
"What are you doing here?"
"We were just talking about Santiago and Ines and blah blah"

MARIDO

Thanks so much for the excellent recap, Adriana!

I find Amalia and Quique's behavior toward Antonio unrealistic. Gris beat herself up at least one time for having given Tony the private school, good clothes, etc., etc. And they don't resent him at all? And they don't side with their mother over the really awful thing he did hiring an actress to play her?

I guess we're meant to believe that that Mafioso heard what Iris and her paramour through the glass. It was kind of a relief to know exactly who TC killed. Of course we all believed it was her mother, but I wasn't sure until last night.

I am 100% on Esther's side in their disagreement. And HE is the one behaving like a spiteful child refusing her designs (and I'm sure they were good ones - the assistant pretty much said so) and trying to make her start from scratch. If I were her, I'd pull out of the partnership completely and get a job with another clothing firm. They've trumpeted how great Fina Estampa is for weeks, so I'm sure Esther could get work in a NY minute.

I also don't think Gris forgave Tony. I wish she'd stuck with the plan to put him over the garage.

I loved the scene with TC and Pati. Because Pati just would not back down. And, of course, Reinaldo is never going to go along with the insane scheme to have her interrupt her studies. I certainly hope Pati doesn't forgive her mother right away.

SANTA

I certainly won't be sorry to miss this one on vacation!

I feel like gagging every time Inés comes into the room.

Bert is pushing Santi and Inés into an engagement and wedding within two months. The two of them have apparently been in the same room less than six times, and now they're a couple? And no one thinks this is odd?

Paula is nuttier than a fruitcake. I'm certain Samanda's plan to never look at her face again is not going to work.

And I continue to marvel at how unsympathetic Begoña is toward her daughter. All she ever does is rag on her about the vengeance scheme.

Francisca's ready acceptance of Little Willy and her complete rejection of Iván makes no sense whatsoever.

Santa

Muchas gracias Hombre

Humberto seems to know everything, does that include Begoña?

There isn't one sane person in this thing except maybe Gaspar. I guess his partner knows all about the bad deeds since Humberto told him that the kid was Santa's & Willy Dalgado's.

Marido

Remember, Antonio has a father
I would say, like father like son.

Brianna

Santa,

thanks Hombre!

as mentioned at TW, Santiago has, with the best of intentions, brought willy right into the lions den, (I don't know how anyone would go along with this, but Santiago has unknowingly spilled to Humberto that he knows) and Humberto in his gruff lawyer mode wants to spill the truth but contains himself by telling only Vicente,

hmm, willy must be playing along,

Ines slips about Santi's other identities, Humberto zooms in on this and pumps for more,
later he visits Pancho at his office to get the official police version,

yes Beth, Paula really does, "wide-eyed crazy very well",

haha Adriana, Ines/Santi appears to be what everyone is whispering about,
no secrets here,

the clan assembles at the hospital for Barbara's release, except Humberto, Santiago, and Santa,
Gaspar gets a call from the bank on the forged check,
Barbara is wheeled out, "where is George?"

with the clan away, boing,
Santi and Santa come together like magnets,
and Humberto walks in on them,
tell me about Lorenzo Rojas,
Santa wants to know as well.

SANTA

You raised a point I had forgotten about last night's episode - Fran's immediate and very warm acceptance of Wee Willie when Santi said Willie was his son. I've thought for some time that Santi is Fran's favorite. She may conspire with Bert and protect Barbara, but her delight at seeing Santi for the first time in a year looked like genuine elation for a special child. And I think her favoritism would explain Bert's sibling jealousy of Santi. Maybe they have different fathers.

Beth

MARIDO

Brianna - you said, "Remember, Antonio has a father.
I would say, like father like son." Yes! And we keep expecting to see the weasel return. $50 million should provide the incentive.

Beth

SANTA

Beth, you're right on target about Francisca's preference for Santiago being the reason she accepts Willy.

MARIDO:

Even though Gris invested in Tony's academic future because he showed great academic promise (and in the clothing and accessories to go with the schools where he studied), I don't think she played favorites with her kids emotionally. Quique doesn't seem like academics were ever his thing, and he's much older than the other kids (Gris had him when she was 14). He seems to have willingly taken on the "man of the house" role when his dad left, and even got busy making his own family by marrying and having a child. I think he sees himself more as the father figure in the house, and less as a the oldest kid, so he doesn't really compare himself to Tony that way.

Amalia just finished high school, and seems to be more alternative in her interests. She wouldn't have wanted to go to some fancy private high school, and although Gris has encouraged her, the traditional college route doesn't seem to interest her. This is ok, because Amalia has a good business sense and a determination to make her own business work. She could benefit from getting a business degree, but she might just become a success without it, with her instincts.

I don't think the siblings really felt they had to compete for Gris' love and attention, and because they all have such different academic and social styles and goals, they don’t feel they are competing for the same turf.

Santa
Could be Santiago is Vicente's son. His and Fran's affair has been going on for a long time I think. Santi is the love child.

Santa,

I thank you Hombre for any recap you do,
(and totally depend on the Colombian narco ones)
lets see, football season?

I don't know if I want to commit to 6 months, but for now I'm willing to do one, maybe two summaries a week, but what would be nice would be for another to do at least one recap a week,

btw, Marylou at TW took another look at the first show and pointed out some things,
(that were in Bill C.'s recap as well),

mainly the opening graveyard scene,
where Santa and Santiago met,

Santiago was playing the song "Santa" on his sax,
written by Willy for her,
but found on the internet by Santi,

when questioned by Santa he explains,
he had a twin sister who died at birth,
he comes to the graveyard and plays that song on their birthday,
as a way of thanking her for letting me live.

DyO

Thanks, Amy, for taking the time to do this excellent mini! You're truly appreciated!

I was frustrated with Ruben's talk with Lupita. He just told stammered and made inane statements. No wonder she took it to mean he was breaking up with her.

Re: Mireya's Miracle. I'm Catholic, and I can tell you these tn confession/confidentiality ploys can be just bizarre. No priest I know (and we've had several in the family) would get caught in that trap last night. That was no real confession, and Mireya was certainly not repentant - a necessary component of confession and forgiveness/absolution (Tony in Marido should read up on repentance and forgiveness). Merrinches don't count. Padre Francisco should have told Mireya she had X amount of time to tell Dad and Pedro the truth, or he would do it for her. But the writers need to keep the secret for a while longer.

I was so glad Mariano and AA finally compared notes on Nomas. Both of them need an ally.

KArana was busy all over town last night, first visiting Iggy and then Estela, who is officially off the deep end. I think Nomas will soon give Estela some of his heavy duty sedatives. He also looked more scary crazy than usual.

Deb - great visual, I can just see it - Nomas' Dad in his chair on the beautiful lush lawn right next to Estela and her beehive in her chair.

I think we're getting closer to the EDmilio/carwash/stripper connection with the construction site robbery and Isabel cover up.

Beth

SANTA

Deb - good catch! I'd forgotten about Santi's twin. That would also explain a lot about Fran's attachment to Santi.

Beth

DyO

Tks for the recap amy! Didn't get to watch last night so it's super helpful.

I'm with ya'll about the confessional secrets plot, always hate thoses. Mireya is truly annoying right now with her merrinches, I feel for her poor dad.

Deb, haha, now I'm totally picturing side by side wheelchairs.

MARIDO

Like I mentioned, didn't get to watch so thks for another fabulous detailed recap Adriana.

I'm really not liking where many of these plot lines are heading right now, starting with gris moving into that house and letting Tony live there as well. I'm really surprised how almost everyone has forgiven and forgotten. They almost make gris sound crazy for still being lukewarm towards him.

I am super curious now of this HUGE fight, as everyone has said. And if she moves out, it'll open up a vacancy.

On another note, I wish that we saw JP feel more guilt about the cheating. Their whole situation is weird, especially ester living with her vitro doctor.

jlk

SANTA:

If Santiago is Vicente's child, or if Ines is Francisca's child (with Vicente), either way, Santi/Ines would be incest, and we can't have that, right? We don't know if either is true, but I bet Santi and Ines don't ever sleep together (as much as Ines wants to!)

And what if the twin didn't die?

DYO

Another Amy wrote:
"**Sidenote: By the way, I can't remember if I mentioned this in last Friday's recap, but did anyone notice Gina's Incredible Changing Skirt in that episode?? It went from one very different pattern to another as she went back and forth several times between the kitchen, the living room, and the courtyard outside. Totally cracked me up."

Of course I had to go look for that in Fri's episode. I imagine the editor said, "No one will notice." lol!

Marido

Since I'm obsessively watching the Reinaldo-Griselda storyline, I'll add that Reinaldo told Simon that he did not understand why Griselda wants to move to a house across from his when she said she didn't want to know anything about him and his family. So he's not so much complaining about her choice as he is puzzled about the mixed signals she's giving him. (Okay, okay, maybe I'm jumping ahead a little bit, but that's how I want to read it.)

SANTA

Something weird is certainly going on with Patricio (Roberto Mateos). He looked at her like she was the last glass of water in the desert when Carlos introduced them. At the time I put it down to the classic TN magical attraction at first sight. But it appears there's something more behind it. He sent that Te Amo email and then decided to snoop around in her bedroom. Looking for clothes to smell? I don't think there's supposed to be enough of an age difference for her to be his daughter.

DyO
Hahaha, AnotherAmy, the Skirt Continuity Editor must have been out sick that day!
Thanks for being on top of things and giving us another great recap.
By the way, I am always amazed by how TN villains yell at, threaten, and otherwise abuse the Catholic clergy. What? In real life, wouldn't this be totally verboten, even by scoff-laws?
J in Oregon

SANTA

Oooh, Hombre, "-what if the twin didn't die?" We've had missing, switched and dead-but-not-dead babies in the past. This could be an interesting development.

Novelera, didn't Vicky say her boyfriend disappeared? And Patricio said his brother gets into difficulties? Could boyfriend and brother be one and the same?

Beth

SANTA

That could be it, Beth. But, if Patricio is trying to clean up his brother's mess, why does he email Te Amo. Unless he didn't send it. But it sure seems to me like he did.

SANTA

Novelera, maybe Patricio isn't cleaning up his brother's mess, maybe he's there for revenge. I wouldn't be surprised if Carlos killed Vicky's bf, and Patricio has been looking for Carlos for some time. But I could way out in left field.

Beth

DYO

Just once I'd like to see a major reveal uninterrupted. (Damn you Tomás!)

SANTA

Beth, I was thinking the same thing about Patricio being in the house; what if he is the bf's brother and he's out for revenge? Only he's not yet sure who caused his brother's demise, he just knows he was involved with a woman and then dissapearedd/ showed up dead. And now he's investigating everyone, snooping around the house and all.

Of course we know Carlos would be the culprit (he wanted to keep Victoria all to himself), but maybe Patricio being so creepy right now is a red herring - this show has plenty of those.
Someone said a while ago that Patricio is a better lover interest for Victoria, once the Ivan romance runs its course and I tend to agree.

I don't think Santi and Ines are siblings; if that was the case we would see Fran or/and Vicente go cucko crazy, rejecting the relationship, but they both seem fine with it (even if Vicente seems to be a little confused - aren't we all?)
I think the theory about Fran loving Santi more has to do with the lost twin/ him being the youngest/ the fact that he kind of lost touch with family/ she simply has a favorite, all tn mothers suffer from this.

When Santi brought Willy home and we got to see Humby's flashback, I was clapping my hands - the guy is SMART and Santi just blew up his cover, so to speak - he can marry Ines and have 5 Ines babies (basically smaller vesrion of the mother), it would still not be enough for Humby to let go of his S&S suspicions.

MARIDO

Utah, I took Rei's words about Gris moving next door the same way you did - he didn't seem to understand her willingness to be so close to them after just a while ago she wanted nothing more than to keep her distance.
Maybe my recap wasn't so clear about that aspect, I was trying to keep it short.

Jlk, everything avout JP/ Esther is stupid, his cheating, her moving in with the doctor - I just don't get how a couple like them goes from perfect to this mess in such a short time.

I agree with those who said that Gris didn't forgive Tony, she just chose to go along with the rest of the family.
I almost wish for him and Pati to get back together and maybe then Pati can see his true character and want to leave him all the same.

And an unpopular opinion: TC is a witch and Pati was right on with all that she said to her mom, but should a daughter talk like this to her mother? Shouldn't another character point all these things out?
As much as TC deserves all this and is a murderer AND wanted to chase Pati out of the country, I still thought the girl was going a little overboard.
Again, all she said was well deserved, but how about if someone like Rei or JP gets to say these things, instead of her daughter?
Just my opinion...

MARIDO - Tuesday
Part 1/4

Mafioso is in TC’s bedroom, she has a gun, they fight, and a shot is fired into the wall (?). Iris and Mario, who came by the house, hear the noise, but when they finally manage to sneak in, everything is quiet; Iris is more interested in searching through the fridge then finding a cadaver upstairs, so they start rummaging through the fancy food in the kitchen.

In the meantime TC and Mafioso start negotiating; she thinks he’s a robber, but he explains he overheard Iris talk about TC’s money and her secret (yes, I was mistaken in thinking Mario was the one interested in TC’s fortune) and now he is the one blackmailing TC; at first she denies the whole thing, but when he threatens to tell Reinaldo the truth, she caves in and agrees to give him the money he asks for.

Tony is trying to convince Pati to stay with him, but she knows that would only add to her problems, not solve them; she asks him not to take advantage of her fragile state, but Tony is not exactly the gentlemen type – he kisses her, and she doesn’t put up any fight.

TC is trying to explain Mafioso that it’s too late to give him money now, but he won’t fall for this trick; he knows she can have access to her secret account on line and asks for her password. TC tries to convince him that Rei has the passwords, but he won’t fall for this lie, either; he threatens to beat her up and finally, she seems to be caving in; she takes out several important secret papers from the false bottom of an IKEA looking basket in her dressing. Mafioso realizes she has 10 mill $ in her account and asks for half of this to be transferred to his Swiss account. The moment she does this, he will disappear from her life forever.

She agrees to the terms, says the computer is downstairs; but then, on the stairs, she seems to remember that the password is in her bedroom and pretends to return for it, just to catch Mafioso on the wrong foot.
She pushes him down the stairs, and the noise make Iris and Mario (who have been eating in the kitchen) come join her. TC admits that she pushed the guy (he is apparently dead), tells them how he barged in and wanted to attack her and tells Iris she knows all about her NY problems and the dead guy being after her.

Brief intermission of Pati and Tony in bed together; she is totally not in the mood, while he keeps whispering sweet nothings (really nothings) in her ear.

MARIDO - Tuesday
Part 2/4

At the restaurant Simon wonders if Leo will be able to pay the bill, but Rei thinks they should just be allowed to enjoy their meal - they look just like the princess and the pauper – and, speaking about princesses, how surprising that TC hasn’t called, yet.

Of course she hasn’t, because she’s busy handling dead bodies.
Iris is shocked to hear the Mafioso was after her and is very grateful that TC got rid of the guy for her. So what now?
Well, TC explains, they either help her get rid of the guy or she calls the police and explains how he got into her house and she had to push him down the stairs in order to protect Iris; and the guy was after the tia for some shady business she did in NY.
This prompts Iris to want to help with the disposal of the body. (What a family!)

Rafa and Amalia arrive at her place, they kiss a little in the dark, until Gris, who has been there all along, thinking about her problems, shows her presence. Rafa leaves and Amalia asks her mom if she wants to talk. Not now, Gris is tired, it’s time to sleep.

After the love making, Tony thinks that he and Pati are back together, but she doesn’t agree; she can’t stay with him either, especially since Paloma and Iris also live there; so, things might have changed between them, but they’re still not like before. And she’ll go stay with JP for tonight.

The killer trio hides Mafioso in a closet for the time being. Some screaming ensues when they’re not able to shut the door closed and the dead guy falls on them. After these hard moments they decide to relax by drinking TC’s high quality cognac; and while they’re at it, how about a toast for all the blackmailers who end up dead, but not before extorting a lot of money from their victims (because dead guys need the money and Iris and TC are both crazy).

Leo gets the check and screams when he sees the big sum of money he has to pay; Peny offers to go Dutch, but he won’t accept. After he empties all his pockets he manages to raise the money, and the tip, too (what was that bill, I didn’t catch it). Rei comes to say hello, hopes they spent a nice evening and is looking forward to seeing them again. Leo all but says: “Never in a lifetime!” and they finally leave.

MARIDO - Tuesday
Part 3/4

Back with the murderous crew, TC and Iris bond over how dreadful the posada is, while Mario seems to be the only one with a bit of a conscience (or, in this case, let’s call it common sense) - he’s worried about the dead guy in the closet. So TC calls Fernando, the guy who served as a guard at the renewal party that everyone managed to crash and asks him to come by her house because she needs him.

Rei is trying to call TC, but her phone is off and the land line is busy. How odd, he thinks for a moment, but doesn’t give it too much thought. Vanesa is wondering why such a great guy would still be with someone like TC. Simon warns her to stop meddling and do her job.

Esther can’t sleep, she’s walking around, probably thinking about her messy life. In the meantime JP receives Pati, who is crying, telling him she had a huge fight with TC and can’t ever get back home. JP is sure things are not that serious and they’ll make up; how about he calls her mom now? (How about he calls Rei, instead, in the past Pati has bothered his “busy” restaurant work for lesser things). Pati is not ready to talk to TC yet, she just wants to sleep. JP awkwardly makes up an excuse about Esther not being home because she’s spending the night with a sick friend at the hospital. But Pati is more than welcomed to stay as long as she wants.

While Iris and Maris are hiding upstairs, TC receives Fernando. First, she wants to make sure that he’ll be up for the job she has for him, so she asks if it’s true he’s been at war and did he kill any guys, by any chance? Yes and yes, Fernando says and he’s also a very discreet person.
TC and Fernando seem to be the perfect match, she explains how she killed the guy trespassing and how she needs him to get rid of the body now. Fernando finds this perfectly natural, why should TC bother with all the police bureaucracy, when committing one more crime is so much easier. So, he agrees to take the body to places unknown yet, and he’ll have his pay later on – this bothers TC, her very good intuition lets her know this guy is up to no good when it comes to her – but, really, considering what she’s asking of him, she doesn’t have too much room to complain.
After Fernando leaves with the body, Iris and Mario can’t wait to get away from the house, too (I bet Iris is happy she’s not living there right now).

MARIDO - Tuesday
Part 4/4

At the restaurant the night is finally over and Vanesa asks Simon for a ride. Rei offers to take her, instead, it’s easier for him; Simon and one of the employees are left talking about how during one of these rides Vanesa will make her move.
In the car, she is once again telling Rei how great he is, how much she admires him. Thank you, Rei obliges, you are just like a second daughter to me, pequena (little girl); he calls her that twice and when she is finally out of the car he has a face that tells me that maybe he knows what Vanesa is trying to do and this is his way of letting her down easy.

In her bed, Gris is wondering about Rei’s reaction when he found out she’ll be moving next door. At the same time, he’s walking on the street, looking at a couple, smiling with nostalgia, maybe, thinking about something he doesn’t share with us.

Leo and Peny are on the beach, they just took a night swim and she’s cold; he offers to warm her up in the lifeguard’s house (or something); once there, he starts to kiss her, wanting more. She resists at first, but she finally caves in (that fancy dinner at Palmer Gourmet is paying off, but why is Peny interested in this mucoso?)

In the morning Ro is talking (praying?) to one of his saints, when Vanesa comes to join him; she’s very happy, because Rei brought her home last night. Be careful, Ro warns, TC will kill us both for this (and yes, I believe that she would). They’re talk is interrupted by screams coming from the neighbors.

The person screaming is Celeste. After creepily watching her sleep, Manuel asks his wife what happened with the stereo; he remembers everything, the attack and what he was doing when Sol hit him – trying to choke Celeste. So he starts doing that again, she screams, Sol comes in, tries to stop him and then runs outside, crying for help. The entire neighborhood can hear their screams, while Ro enters the house and starts fighting with Manuel, Sol and Vanesa call the police, who soon arrive.

TC hasn’t slept all night, she’s still wearing the same clothes. She comes down the stairs just to see Mafioso there, again. She is only hallucinating, but she starts kicking the ghostly appearance with her legs, just as Rei walks in and asks what is going on.

MARIDO
- correction-

"They’re talk is interrupted by screams" - not good - "Their talk is interrupted...." works so much better :)

Marido,

wow, what a show,
great recap Adriana!

it was fascinating to watch, TC, in a relative window of sanity, work this mafia guy, and eventually disposing of him, of course these under the table things just seem to get more complex, like with that gleam in Fernando's eyes, (and CSI Miami gets yet another unsolved case)

Iris is so intune with the life of luxury, good food and drink, could there be anything else...

so what was Tia Iris' entanglement with the mafia guy again, was she doing something illegal with those apartments as well, it seems like TC is off the hook now from Tia's blackmail.

I have so many different feeling about Pati/Antonio, she is such a sweetheart, and him such a charmer, it doesn't take much of a crack in the door for him to move right in, but then he doesn't even look at anyone else, I was so hoping she would find her way to Reinaldo, but Tony pretty much cut her off, I'm just following this one along without trying to judge,

it was a reluctant romance here tonight, even though Desnudo played, as well as with Peny/Leo, probably no romance with Maximo/Barbie or Kiko/Clara, Rafa got a few kisses, and Griselda tossed and turned in bed alone, while Reinaldo walked the beach front, also alone, noticing the young lovers,

and Ro, whoa, I'm totally impressed, against all odds, he was determined that Celeste not be harmed, and calling on his inner ninja self was amazing.

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Adriana! It was quite an interesting episode last night, and none of it involved our main couple. One murder; one murder attempt; and two young non-couples having sex.

Most of the women in this are too good for the men they are with: Pati and Tony; Penny and Leo; Quique and Clara; Barbie and Max; Amalia and Rafa; Celeste and Manuel. I have NO idea what Penny sees in Leo. He’s a bratty kid, not even great looking, and she could do WAY better. Oh well!

I noticed how when Pati asked Tony not to take advantage of her fragile state, everything he said afterwards was about himself and his needs (I love you; I need you; I want you). Although Pati gave in physically and had sex with him, I think she is just as sure as before that Tony is not boyfriend material. He still puts himself and his needs first. She is still very emotionally distant from him, as we could see.

TC has another body under her belt now. I wonder if she killed someone before her mama too?

Loved Rei calling Vanessa little girl over and over again. He was getting a real kick bursting her bubble.

MARIDO:

Wait! I didn't mean to include Barbie and Max in that list. They are just the opposite-- man too good for the woman, like TC and Rei.

MARIDO:

Deb- Tia Iris has properties (which we now know TC bought for her as part of her bribes) in NYC, which she does not pay taxes on. The Mafia doesn’t care that she owes the government cash, but they do care that she hasn’t been sharing a part of her profits with THEM, as her properties are in their territory. Considering she isn’t on good terms with Uncle Sam, Iris can’t exactly go to the authorities to complain about the tribute money the mob is trying to force her to pay.

TC is way smarter than she lets on. She played mafia guy perfectly. She’s quite astute and cunning. She must know that the payment Fernando will likely want is her body, since he has the hots for her. How will she react when he eventually propositions her? He better hope he doesn’t end up being TC’s #3 murder.

I was impressed by Ro too, especially that kick to Manuel’s side that he gave to make Manny let Celeste go. You go Ro!

SANTA DIABLA, Martes, Part 1

Bert asks Santi, should I call you Santiago, or Lorenzo, or any of your other false names? Santi doesn’t answer, even though Samanda (Sam) would love to hear the answer, too. Bert tells Santi, I want DNA testing on Guillermo! I can get a court order. No way, says Santi. Okay, says Bert, then at least you have to provide me with a birth certificate. If you can’t do that, it’s DNA time.

Santi confers with Sam, tells her not to worry. When she asks about the guys from the prison, one of whom was killed to silence him (actually 3, but Sam doesn’t know that), he says you don’t think I would do anything like that? She trusts him. Paula and Begoña don’t trust Santi so much. As we heard last week, Paula thinks Sam has betrayed them, too. But this is so wrong, and later in the episode Sam gives Paula hell for even thinking this.

Santi remembers that Paula was able to get Sam a new identity. Maybe Paula can get him that birth certificate. He goes to visit Paula, who is very angry with him. Santi’s calm manner goes a ways towards reassuring her, but she won’t get that birth certificate. She’ll never help a Cano!

George visits the bank manager, pumps him for info about Gaspar’s forged check. The manager has no clue George was the culprit, but tells him the security cameras will reveal this tomorrow. George asks Gaspar if he, George can save Gaspar the trip, go to the bank tomorrow, and find the culprit (hah!). No way. George doesn’t fall for this. Gaspar goes upstairs to bed. George enlists Daniela. Somehow he’s going to get her to help him put a stop to Gaspar!

Inane Inés continues with her adolescent plans. Even though Pancho says to stay away from Santi, she’s not deterred, and sets up a little picnic for the two of them at her family retreat. While there, she proposes a toast of champagne, even though it’s morning. All of Viewerville is thinking, don’t drink it, Santi! But he does, it’s spiked, he passed out, and when he wakes up, they’re naked, and she says they had sex! What’s more, here comes Daddy Vicente at the door!

Bert pays Carlos a wad of cash. His job? He has to have some “experts” come back with a report that says the famous video of Barb coming on to Willy Delgado is a photo montage, a fake. Carlos pockets the dough, no problem. Meanwhile, he’s trying to get Patricio together with Vicky. Unknown to him, Pat has been rummaging through Vicky’s room, finds a photo album, removes a photo of two young women. Could this be Vicky and Pat’s sister? I think Beth guessed that Vicky’s ex boyfriend, who dumped her years ago, could be Pat’s brother, who was always in trouble. Could be!

SANTA DIABLA, Part 2

Carlos also wants Iván to find out who sent the Te Amo on Vicky’s computer. Iván doesn’t want to, especially when he hears Carlos say that if he finds out who is Vicky’s secret love, Carlos will “remove” him!

Bárbara is coming home from the hospital. She keeps asking everyone for a mirror, wants to see how bad she looks after being beaten up. No one wants to give her one. I actually don’t think she looks that dreadful, makeup dept. could have made it worse, but when she finally sees herself, she’s suitably horrified. She feels her life is ruined, everyone knows she rented that room, and there’s that video....We know Bert is working on the video. But when Sam comes in to pretend to comfort Barb, Barb says no man has ever rejected me. Except that one (Willy, Sr.), and I made him PAY! Sam is so angered by this, she runs to her room, gets out a gun, and when Begoña rushes in, Sam says she’s going to KILL Bárbara. Begoña struggles, and we almost think a shot will go off, but it doesn’t, and Sam finally calms down, her Mom reminding her you don’t want to spend the rest of your life in jail, do you? And what would happen with little Willy?

Speaking of which, Fran is super protective of “Guillermo”. She won’t let Begoña near the kid, and Sam can’t get near him, either. Fran tells Begoña that she messed up with her own children. Santi (whom she admits is her favorite) is often away, Barb’s a slut, Bert’s in his own world of power, Daniela has problems, this little boy is her last chance at a family member she can love (Iván’s too old, apparently). Begoña is not happy about this.

Bert continues being a royal pain in Santi’s and Sam’s collective asses, goading Sam about how wonderful it is she has their baby, if it’s a boy they’ll name it Humberto, with Santi he’s talking about how soon Santi and Inés will tie the knot. All designed to get their blood boiling. But Bert apparently has another weakness. Despite his desire to put Sam in her place, he desires HER! A lot! In fact, when he’s having sex with Lisette, he keeps seeing Samanda. He almost NEEDS to picture Sam, in order to have passion with Lisette.

The twists and turns continue!

SANTA DIABLA:

Also, Pancho continues not to go along with Lucy's trying to get the two of them married. His phone rings, tomorrow they'll know who stole those items from the mansion! We know it's Lucy, but I doubt she'll get caught.

SANTA:

The intriguing thing about this show is that lots of people know, but have to PRETEND not to know. Santiago knew that Bert wouldn't fall for Willy being his kid, but Bert can't openly deny it, because that would show that Bert knows that Willy is Samanda's kid! So Bert has to try other methods (DNA testing, birth certificate). But Santi is working on that two. Both brothers are smart. But both have weaknesses.

Santa
Grrrreat Hombre,
I really did not understand a lot in this one. Missed entirely Santiago's thinking about Willy Jr.

Carlos is worse than Humberto I think, he is a cop of the worst kind.

MARIDO:

Great recap, Adriana, I loved it!

BTW, the amount of the tip Leo gave was $1.00! Simon sarcastically said he'd split it up among the entire staff.

I also don't like the fact that these guys are almost forcing the girls. The girls say don't take advantage of me, promise you won't, and they guys do it anyway. As a guy, I would NEVER do that. But this show almost makes it seem normal.

I am so happy the police are arriving to stop Manuel. But I wouldn't be surprised if Celeste doesn't press charges, and Manuel gets right out of jail, ready to abuse again. Please, writers, no!

The best part about this show is the comedy, and there's lots of it. I think Iris is a scream! I'm starting to think TC is funny, too (maybe funny/pitiful). Fernando was funny. Rei's remark to Vanesa (pequeno) was funny. Even Penny said something like, I know I'm gonna regret this in the morning. Of course some of the story lines (like JP and Esther) aren't very amusing, so I hope they don't dwell on that one too much.

Santa,

thanks so much Hombre!

I don't know why Carlos has decided that Patricio will be a good mate for Victoria,
I would think Carlos would want Victoria only for himself,

a fake birth certificate, hmm, that would add to Humberto's pile of evidence against them,

speaking of which, what was that discussion between Vicente and Paula,
and what files did he want?

haha, the not so Klever Bank, I guess no real bank ads in this one,
you'd think someone would remember the guy that got a brief case full of money,

wow, an indoor picnic, I was wondering if Humberto was in on this drugging,
or if Ines has done this on her own,
(will we hear about any of her past boyfriends)

it was interesting watching Humberto talk business with Carlos,
Carlos seemed to have been playing it for what it was worth,
but when Santiago came home, Humberto's money on the table was gone,

poor Bárbara, she just knew how horrible she looked the way others were looking at her, but doesn't she have the only copy of the Willy video that was played at the Cafe, omg, Santa is on her last nerve, leaving to get a gun, enough with this lady, and then the struggle with Begoña, omg, but the gun didn't accidentally go off, and Begoña finally brings some reasoning to Santa, but then in walks Bárbara, being her obnoxious self, I thought Begoña was going to plug her then and there, no?,
give me the gun and I'll do it,

ah yes, Humberto never stops twisting in the knives,
Santa bringing a little Humberto into this world,
but will his obsession with Santa overtake him,
(actually for now, I think Humberto will keep Santa close, and protect her at all costs, to bad she doesn't know this, but Santiago in the mix is driving him crazy, and he still doesn't know if the baby is his)

SANTA

Hombre, thanks so much for your great recap. As you said, the twists and turns continue!

I didn't quite get the DNA/birth certificate demand from Bert. No one demanded, and he didn't offer, the same evidence of paternity for Ivan.

Santa got her gun! I wish the writers/director would decide how they want to present this character. Half the time she looks like she's sleepwalking and then she does something bizarre, like pull a gun out of a shoe box to go on a rampage.

Our resident clothes horse had pink pants on.

Hombre, agree that Barbara didn't look that bad. I was hoping she'd have some scars (maybe a big ugly A).

Adiana, I had a flash last night that maybe Ines is Vicky's kid. One of the women in the photo Pat took looks a lot like Ines, and Ines is so much taller than Pancho and almost as tall as Bert and Santi, even accounting for high heel shoes.

Ines drugs Santi, strips them both and waits for PaPa to arrive - so old, so trite, so effective. I'll bet that secretive little meeting Ines had with Bert was for him to give her the knock out pills. He did guarantee a wedding in 2 months.

I think we got a hint that at least part of Bert's punishment is going to be his love for Santa and her hatred of him.

Beth

Santa,

let's see,

hmm, Humberto knows willy from that time he saw him, but I don't think Paula, Santa, Begoña, or Santiago suspect that he knows this.

I also don't think Humberto knows about Begoña as yet, Ricardo should have told him but didn't.

Humberto knows that Santiago knows about Santa/Willy, because he showed up with willy,

Vicente seems to be a confidant of Humberto, but also has his other things going on,

oh, and was Paula totally lost because they took her nephew away.

MARIDO

Adriana, great recap! So much going on and you got it all. You made a good point about the harsh words Pati had for TC during their fight. TC is mentally ill and needs treatment and medication, and her husband has known this for some time. Pati said the things Rei should have said to TC long ago, but he has wanted to avoid hospitalizing her, probably for many reasons, including her resistance.

Tony is even more disgusting. Once again it's all about him and his needs and desires. Pati, to her credit, seemed to recognize his manipulation and her weakness and got away to JP's.

What is wrong with Penny? There is absolutely nothing endearing, attractive or intriguing about Leo. At first I thought it was a pity date, but then she let herself be talked into sex. And she will be sorry in the morning…

Best part of the episode was Ro knocking Manuel off Celeste. I agree he'll be out of jail in 2 shakes, so someone has to step up to put him out of our misery.

DYO martes, minicap

Mireya wants Neto to help get rid of Ignacia. He’s a little concerned.

Gema and Candy take balloons and flowers to surprise EDmilio at his office, and leave them outside the building, then hide out of sight to watch him get his surprise. They see EDmilio come out of the building with a pregnant lady and a little girl, he kisses them both, and then goes to kiss the baby belly. Supposed wife of EDmilio sees the flowers and balloons, which only say “I love you” and are signed by Gema. She demands to know where they came from, ED says they’re from the wife of a co-worker. EDsposa and EDhija leave, and EDmilio tears the card into pieces. He looks pi$$ed. Gema is seriously hacked off… he’s married, desgraciado!!

JM is still devastated about lo del Karina and plans to take charge of the arrangements for her body. Tomas thinks he should just let Isabel do it so he can concentrate on his new project… taking Ignacia’s place. JM is all “Huh??” Tomas tells JM he’s going to fire Iggy and he wants JM to take over the project, but JM thinks this is totally ridiculous. They argue in the lobby in front of Isabel and the general public.

Mariano overhears AA on the phone with Mystery Guy. “Nobody knows!” she insists to MG.

Lupita is cold to Ruben and warm to Neto. She can’t forgive R for changing his mind about living together, and Neto is the nearest warm body, so she flirts with him and invites him to lunch in front of Ruben, who is quite bothered. Neto accepts, because he’s hungry.

Tomas fires Iggy, saying “This is just the beginning . Get ready.”

Mireya finds out that Lupita spurned Ruben in favor of Neto and they were flirting. Is M jealous? Maybe just a little.

Angel leaves a door at the bodega open… on purpose.

Oleg asks Marge to be his novia. He’s very sweet, and assures her that he just wants to make her happy and spend time with her, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. She accepts. Cute, cuddly moments.

At the obra, Pedro catches Iggy packing her things and finds out she’s been fired. He wants to take Ignacia to London to live in Gina’s house. They relish this new-found-almost-freedom and canoodle, kiss, hug, and are adorable. Iggy can’t leave though, because of Estela’s illness (to hell with Marge’s apparently). She still wants to give it a go, and thinks they should make things public… announce to the world that they are in love, no matter what anyone thinks.

Pedro and Ignacia walk out of the office onto the work site, where he has a mariachi band waiting, and he serenades her. They kiss in broad daylight, and the obreros gather around and applaud.

Mireya barges into Casa Perez to take Neto back to her house, but Lupita isn’t giving up without a fight. Mireya gets bossy, commanding Neto like he’s her little chihuahua, Pedro comes in wondering what all the yelling is about, blah blah blah.
Then Marge announces her noviazgo with Olegario to her family.

Mariano and JM talk about their suspicions of Tomas, but JM says he himself was with Tomas that night at the time of her death. Mariano says T probably hired someone to do it, he’s not the type to get his hands dirty. The two resolve to find this accomplice.

Estela calls AA desperate to tell her the truth about what she did. AA rushes to the house, but Estela has calmed down a bit. AA figures she’s feeling guilty about lying about her tumor, but there’s something else Estela is worried about… Karina.
Estela is a punto de revealing what happened, when Tomas walks in. “Is it true, Estela?” he asks menacingly. “Do you know who killed Karina?”

I’m in total agreement with you, Sue… just ONE measly uninterrupted revelation would be such a welcome treat!!

MARIDO

Terrific recap, Adriana! Thanks.

Pati succumbing to Tony's pressure: blech! I hated that they went there. I want full realization by Tony how wrong he's been before Pati has anything to do with him. Please, please, writers: NO PREGNANCY

Hombre, I agree 100% about the comedy in this novela. I like it a lot. And it's not the ridiculous kind of funny that you see in Univisión novelas, rather a more sophisticated kind.

You go, Ro! I loved his asking help from his spiritual guides before going after Manuel.

I'm predicting Celeste and her daughter will soon move into Gris' new mansion. Although they'll probably get Manuel out of jail to stalk them.

I thought Reinaldo's clever move of calling Vanessa pequeña was just great. It shut her down and fast!

SANTA

Deb, the files Vicente asked Paula to put together are for a big case the G-Cano firm is getting ready to go to court on. Predictably, they're defending an insurance company in a medical malpractice suit! From the look on Paula's face, I was wondering if she's planning to "lose" something critical.

I'm certain Humberto came up with the idea of drugging Santi. And how 19th century of the writers to suggest that this now means Santi will be forced into marriage!

I was mightily surprised that Carlos is willing for Vicky to get involved with Patricio. I thought his life plan was to have Vicki wait on him hand and foot forever.

DyO

Super mini, Amy. And I agree with you and Sue… An uninterrupted revelation would be so welcome, as well as Nomas NOT coasting in on every private conversation.

Wasn't Jose Luis Resendez cute with the mariachis?

Does Neto see a pattern developing here?

I hope whatever AA has going on with MG has no connection to bad guy ED.

Marge is too funny. Can't be your novia cuz I may be gone in 10 minutes. But Oleg hung in there - so sweet.

I'm having trouble caring about the Angel storyline. I think he's going to rob the warehouse, get caught and go back to jail and maybe get killed by ED's goons. Can't get into it. Of course MaMa will say it's all Isabel's fault.

Estela is getting closer to that customized wheelchair.

Beth

MARIDO

Marvellous recap, Adriana. You explained several scenes that went right by me, including how TC gets Tia Iris on her side.

It's clear that TC is not the birdbrain she seems to be. I loved her handling of Mafioso guy, especially her pushing him down the stairs, of course, but also her handing him a box from her closet and snearing at his mafioso skills when he doesn't recognize that the box has a hidden bottom.

Until now, I've found Tia Iris rather tiresome, but last night I loved her enthusiasm for great food, wine, and cognac. She's my kind of woman!

Like some other commenters, I found Antonio's egocentric wooing of Pati pretty annoying. I guess what annoys me is not that he's such a self-centered a$$ but that the theme music suggests they'll be together at the end. Blech!

I was hoping Ro would manage to beat the whatever out of Manuel. After all, so many implausible things happen in a telenovela, why not that? Oh well, I was very happy that at least Ro did manage to show more courage than any of the others and to get Manuel off Celeste.

BTW, I know I've been silent for a week or so. I was away for part of that time and found that though I could access CarayCaray on my tablet, I couldn't post messages. It feels good to be back. Thanks to all the recappers and commenters who made it possible for me to stay in the loop.

DyO

Thanks for the 'cap, Amy!

I was surprised to see Emilio with a wife, a child, and another on the way. The guy surely does know how to compartmentalize.

He has the happy home life. He has the strippers to beat. And he was planning on making a mistress out of Gema.

I remember when he told one of his accomplices to set up an apartment that could not be traced back to him. And it sounded like it wasn't the first time. This told me that he's had various mistresses all along. I don't think he is planning to put Gema in the strip club, at least not at first. I think his plan was for her to be a mistress for as long as it suits him and who knows what happens to each mistress in turn.

Gema found out about his family before she was installed in an apartment, so it's hard to say whether she'll manage to slip out of his clutches or not. The obvious thing would be to hightail it back to México to get away from him, but I don't think they're going there. Especially since she probably just thinks he's a cheater, without knowing how sinister he really is.

SANTA

Many thanks, Hombre, for your excellent recap. I was SURE the gun was going to go off when Santa was struggling with Begoña. I was very happy to be wrong (again).

I don't have much to say. I've been away, following the recaps but for some reason unable to post. Now that I'm able to watch the episodes again and to post, I'm aware of how tired I get by 10 pm. I may need your wonderful recaps not just to understand what my Spanish was too feeble to grasp but also to catch up on episodes I slept through. Sigh.

Santa
I don't believe any of the Santa team know that Humberto is on to them. Santiago Might be realizing sth, but now he has his own problems, big problems.
As far as I understand, Begoña is the only one Humberto doesn't suspect.

Marido

Thanks for the thorough recap, Adriana! Oh, it's getting interesting now, and especially the last few minutes! Reinaldo discovering TC kicking the imaginary body of the dead gangster?!? This is what we watch telenovelas for! And I was so happy to see Ro get in some good hits on Manuel, although not so happy to see Manuel get the best of him at the end.

I'm enjoying TC's descent into madness and murderousness (or perhaps rather the reveal of her madness and her murderous nature), especially since the worse she gets, the more the way becomes clear for Reinaldo and Griselda. Perhaps she'll be the one to kill Manuel, since she seems to be becoming the go-to person for necessary murders on this show.

I like how $5 million dollars is the magic sum that people from money-hungry biological mothers to creepy blackmailing gangster-types demand. I almost feel that both Barbie and dead-mobster-guy were modest in their extortion ambitions--only one-tenth of the (pre-tax) lottery winnings, only one-half of the secret bank account.

Anyone else catch the boytoy's "feel the shirt collar" method of ascertaining life or death? At first I thought that perhaps the mafioso might turn up alive later, but after I saw him do the deadweight fall onto the floor multiple times (hope they cushioned things well for the poor actor!) that seems unlikely.

I agree that one theme in this episode seemed to be that pushy guys got what they wanted (Tony, Leonardo). The bedroom scene between Patty and Tony was especially icky, with her emotional vulnerability and the way she was clearly not into it, and leaves me thinking that they are not intended to be each other's end-game.

SANTA DIABLA:

Variopinta, upon futher reflection you're probably right that Santa, Paula and Begoña don't know that Bert is on to Santa. I also agree that Santi is at least suspicious. But as for Santi's problems, that's what makes the show fun. It's just like in La Patrona, everything was stacked against Gaby, but she ended up finally getting the best of all the bad guys. So it's not surprising that at this stage of the show, things are going wrong for Santa and Santi. But things are also going wrong for Bert and the bad guys. It's just a matter of time before the bad guys self destruct, turn on each other, or somehow get defeated.

I also agree that Bert doesn't suspect Begoña, and I don't even think he's sure about Paula. In the flashback they showed him outside the Paula and Santa's house, but we only see Santa, Big Willy and little Willy. I don't think we see Paula. On the other hand, Bert knows that Paula's last name is Delgado. But other than that, I haven't seen anything that proves for sure that he knows Paula is big Willy's sister.

MARIDO

Yes, UtahDesert, I found Antonio and Pati's lovemaking scenes uncomfortable to watch. He is so blinded by his own selfishness that he can't see that she isn't into it. But we could.

Marido,

it's a wrap!

Telemundo has finished filming (which began Feb. 19) and had there wrap party last night.

DAME CHOCOLATE

This ended last month and honestly i stopped watching beacause even though i never saw this before it was obvious they skipped a bunch of stuff. I never saw Diosdados rematch with el gato volador, No explenation how Eulalia ended up with Anacleto, or Julia getting back with Diosdado, The court battle skipped a bunch of stuff. And why did Deborah have to die? Mauricio deserved to be with someone. That was just a slap in the face to all the Mau fans.

Ill probably rewatch the whole thing on youtube so it makes more sense but itll be hard without cc3

Dame Chocolate
Novelaman, I watched bits of this here and there while home for lunch, but not until it was almost over, so I never got a sense of the characters. It looked good though! Sorry I missed it. Too bad it is not out on DVD.

MARIDO Wednesday
Part 1

Here is a low fat recap, I watched the show while babysitting my 6 months old godson, so some of my take on things might be a little off.

Ro manages to keep Celeste away from Manuel for a while, but then, just as the abuser is about to start hoking her again, the police catches him in the act.
He's taken to the station, not before expressing a few "kind" words towards his wife.
Gris comes running, asks Celeste to stop finding excuses for Manuel and press charges. But Celeste is still fighting, she knows this is what she has to do, but she can't help but remember the good old days, when Sol was a baby and Manuel was a good husband.
Finally she decides to go to the station and confront him, before doing anything legal wise.
Once there, Manuel is anything but apologetic, of course he is locked up because of HER, because SHE was the one to slap him first etc etc...
Celeste asks him to change, to be a better man, but Manuel says that people don't change and he most definitely won't do it. She should be happy that he proves his love in bed (blech!).
So, FINALLY, Celeste decides to press charges against the wife beater.
Gris has a "friendly" talk with Manuel, too, just enough for him to say how sorry he is he didn't beat her up, too.

Barbara has argument with max about him going back into the ring. He won't give up on the idea, no matter what she says.
After they talk Barbie calls Gris, asking when will she get her money. Gris tells her SHE is the one to decide that and hangs up.
Tormented by Little K flashbacks, Barbie calls his school, says she's the mother and wants to see him.
When she arrives she is welcomed by K (the school called him, letting him know Barbie was coming); he is furious, asks her to get lost, she only wants to see the boy for a moment; she tells K how she saw them together the other day - K is very angry, tells her she has no rights.
In the middle of their fight, Little K shows up. He seems to recognize his mom, but he's not quite sure. After Barbie begs some, K lets the child into her arms. She starts sobbing, holding the child, while K is telling him this is not his mom (to avoid him later suffering).
Barbie (in the first scene where I actually have a little sympathy for her) hugs Little K tight and then says that indeed, she is not his mother. Then she runs away, crying and is almost hit by a car.
K tells his son the woman who hugged him was a cousin of his mom's, that's why they're so alike.
After that K speaks to Gris, tells her what happened and reaffirms his wish to get rid of Barbie once and for all.

SANTA DIABLA, Miércoles, Part 1

After drinking spiked champagne provided by Inés, Santiago wakes up naked and groggy. He looks over at Inés, naked and bubbly. What happened? What do you think, precious? she responds. We celebrated, and it was the máximo! I note she doesn't specifically say they had sex, so it's possible she just made it appear this way. Also, could he “perform” if drugged? But before he has time to ponder this, Vicente pops in, sees the couple, and is OUTRAGED! Santiago tries to tell him nothing happened, but Vicente can't doubt what his eyes tell him. And since Vicente uses the old code (WAY old), this means that Santiago must MARRY Inés! We also find out that Inés Mom died giving birth to Inés, so Vicente had to raise her himself. After Santiago splits, Vicente briefly questions Inés on why she left a voice mail to come to the old family retreat right away, but she giddily tells him he's getting senile, she just said she was AT the retreat. Yeah, sure. Santiago sees no way out of this, and later starts packing his bags again, enlists the help of Iván, so Santiago can “disappear”. Again, I'm not buyin' it, he'll probably hear of Samanda (Sam)'s latest crisis, and change his mind.

Pancho had gotten out of Lucy's marriage vow pressure by going off to solve the case of the missing items from the mansion. He stupidly tells Lucy more details. They've tracked down the fence, who was selling the stolen items. They're going to arrest him now. So Lucy calls the guy and warns him, since she took the items herself, and sold them to the fence. Just as the fence is gathering up his stuff in a backpack, Pancho bursts into his warehouse, and the two draw guns. Pancho tells the fence to give up, he's surrounded. And this would be true if this were not Marrero. Because although several cops arrived at the place with Pancho, they've apparently disappeared, so really Pancho is alone. He tells the fence to put his gun down slowly. The fence does, but at the last minute, he pulls a string, and a bookshelf falls over onto Pancho. The fence escapes, and LUCY shows up, saying, hi, honey!

We finally find out why Hortensia is racist. Lisette comes to visit her, and Horti's viewing an old issue of “Cops”, repeatedly playing back a scene of a traffic stop gone wrong. But no, this is an actual video of her oldest son, Felipe. Seems that Felipe had a shootout with a black cop. Felipe died. Yes, they all said he fired at the cop first, but Horti doesn't give a hootie about that. Felipe died because the cop was black, that's all there is to it. The cop would never have shot one of his “own”. She repeats the cada oveja con su pareja mantra, crying, red-eyed, pitiful. I'm not impressed.

Sam visits Paula at the bufete (law office). Paula assures her they're alone. Sam says she would NEVER betray Willy. Paula forgives her, and they hug. It's just that, observes Paula, how come all three of the inmates connected with Willy's death were just killed? All three? Yes, says Paula, but we have one clue. At this point, “Ricardo” just happens to walk into the bufete, and just happens to eavesdrop. Beanie time. Paula continues. One of the guys who died yelled out the word “toro” (bull). I'm SURE if we find the guy named Toro, we'll solve the mystery. We viewers know that Ricardo's nickname is Toro, and he has a bull tattoo on his forearm. But he's just overhead the whole thing! He later goes back to Bert, and tells him. I'm not so sure this was a wise move by Toro, since Bert could just take the “bull” by the horns, and eliminate HIM.

SANTA DIABLA, Part 2

Carlos visits Mara. She's in a bad mood, as Lisette had previously discovered the negative pregnancy test, and teased her about it. Carlos acts very slimy (easy for him). He tells Mara he's just investigating her complaint about Horti throwing a brick through the shop window as a hate crime. But he's THINKING of grabbing Mara and teaching her who's the boss! She picks up on his sick vibe. He tells her there's no proof anyway, it's just Mara's word against Horti's, case closed. Very shaken, she insists that he leave, and he does. Fortunately Art arrives, Mara tells him, and Art says he'll file a complaint against Carlos for official misconduct. As if THAT'll get anywhere!

Carlos has insisted that Vicky give Patricio a tour of the town. Ick.

Bert continues his campaign of mental torture against Sam, ordering a whole roomful of baby cribs and toys, surprising Sam with his “thoughtfulness”. She's mortified as usual, flashes back to when Willy assembled an inexpensive crib for their baby to be. She manages to pull herself together and thank Bert, barely.

Sam and Paula actually have a couple of new plans. Paula is going to try to mess up the reputation of the law firm. Vicente has told her to have all the records ready for this big hearing of a medical malpractice case. They were a slam dunk to win the case, but Paula's going to alter a few records (untraceably, she states), so that the firm will LOSE the case! This should be fun (except that Paula usually messes up somewhere, so we'll see). Sam's plan is to get Bárbara in more hot water. She sneaks Bárbara's cellphone from her purse, and texts Ricardo, something like, Kisses, Bárbara. Since Barb just got back from her last ill-fated sexual adventure, if it comes out that she's trying to seduce the chauffeur, that could be bad. I doubt this one will work out the way Sam wants, either. But at least she's tryin'.

SANTA DIABLA, Part 3

So what about George? Last we saw him, he wanted to enlist Daniela to help stop Gaspar from going to the bank to see the security tapes of George cashing Gaspar's check. He tells Danni, just keep abuelo from leaving the house, okay? She wants something in return. Daddy, set it up so I can meet that hot boy Iván again, okay? George agrees. When Gaspar comes downstairs in the morning, Danni turns on the fake tears, grabs him saying, Abuelo, Abuelo, no one in this family LOVES me! Gaspar says that's not true, but he has an important appointment. She keeps this up for a while, finally tells him, fine, I guess your office is more important than your family! He's about to go out anyway, but by this time, George has put in part 2 of his plan. Upstairs, he tells Bárbara he's had enough, they'll just have to put Barb in a clinic for treatment of her sex addiction! Well, this sends Barb into a frenzy, and her ranting and raving brings the whole family upstairs. No WAY will you put me in any clinic, she screams, throwing a vase against the wall. Fran and Gaspar enter the room to calm the situation. Gaspar says he has to get to the bank. Fran says you can't leave the family at a time like THIS!

He eventually does leave, and George follows. At the Klever Bank (thanks for pointing out that one, Deb), the manager shows him the tape. Sure enough, the culprit was George (whom the manager doesn't recognize). The manager promises it won't happen again, and he'll help with the authorities. But Gaspar says he'll take care of it himself. He exits the bank in a huff, only to run into George. How DARE you pulls this crap, he yells. I want you out of my house today! George isn't idle, he shoots right back, you COULD have given me the money when I asked, but you didn't, so I had no choice. Out of my way, says Gaspar, but George punches him in the face! As Gaspar gasps, George says I'm armed, you'll do as I say. But Gaspar takes advantage of a bystander to struggle out of George's grip, run to his black Mercedes, jump in, and gun the engine! Gaspar is right behind in his red Corvette. In the struggle, Gaspar's iphone had fallen to the pavement. He speeds through the streets of Marrero, vainly looking for his phone, trying to escape George. He keeps looking in the mirror. Unfortunately, this allows a stock telenovela TRUCK to be placed right in front of his car, and boom!!!! George stops in time, sees Gaspar bloodily slumped over the failed airbag, wondering if fate has finally dealt him 4 aces. We'll see!!!

MARIDO Wednesday
Part 2

Pati wakes up at JP's. Esther comes by just as Pati is about to ask some uncomfortable questions about her. JP calls Rei, tells him Pati spend the night at his house.
After Pati leaves for school, Esther tries to talk to JP about their situation, but he doesn't want to - he accuses her of wanting to get pregnant with another man - to which Esther promptly replies that HE was the one to bring another person in their marriage.
He gives her an ultimatum: she has to desist of the idea of having a baby and come back to their life together, or else... or else I have no idea, he just wants things his way no matter what.
So they solve nothing, except now I have more sympathy for Esther and NONE what so ever for JP.

Pati goes to school, where Tony thinks they are back together or something, but Pati makes it clear that until she sees that he changed, they will never be like before. She does apologize for leading him on (what? don't apologize, girl, if he couldn't realize that you weren't into it, then don't bother with him anymore, on top of everything else he is turning out to be a crappy lover, too).
I had to cheer Pati for voicing our opinions about Tony being the same old despicable person he always was, even if he lied all through their relationship, she can clearly see him for what he is - an ambitious, good for nothing, selfrighteous, ungrateful liar.
And yes, despite Daniel's advice, that Pati never was and never will be about the money, Tony is sure that once they'll be neighbors, she'll fall into his arms again.
Pati talks to her dad, she is willing to come home if her mom apologizes. Rei is sure that will be the case (but I have to wonder).

Anyway, he has bigger problems than his wife apologizing to his daughter.
After he catches TC mid crisis, he demands to know what is going on with her. She makes up a story about sleeping and being woken up by mosquitoes, that she decided to chase around the house.
Rei can clearly see that something is off, especially since she hasn't answered her phone all night and she was all alone in the house. When he finds out about the fight with Pati, he is led to believe that's why TC was so nervous, she even fell asleep wearing her clothes, like never before in their 20 years of marriage.
He has the talk with JP and finds out Pati is ok; also, TC talks with Fernando, who tells her the body disposal went out without a glitch.
So the lady of the house is now ready to rest.
But then, when TC goes to sleep, he sees the mark that the bullet left in their bedroom wall. Then he smells the gun powder on their gun, so he starts to investigate the house.
He can't find anything downstairs, though, so he just goes back up and waits for TC to wake up, holding the gun close to him.
When she's finally up and in a great mood, he asks her to smell their gun, because it has been fired and nobody else but her could have done this.

MARIDO:

Thanks Adriana. I was also pleased that Pati told Tony exactly what we've all been thinking about him. He just doesn't get it. Ugh!

I was impressed with Rei really investigating what the heck TC had been up to. Unfortunately, he could never in his wildest dreams guess the madness that's been going on under his nose in that house.

Although I am happy Celeste FINALLY brought charges against Manuel, I was ticked that all it would have taken was a lie from him that he was going to change, and she would have let it go (until the next time he tried to kill her). Luckily, he decided to tell the truth and said he'd never change.

SANTA

Many thanks, Hombre, for yet another terrific recap.

I guess you're right that Gaspar's airbag failed. When I saw him slumped over it, I didn't understand why he would have received so many wounds if the airbag went off. Even so, there seemed to be blood in too many places on his head. Oh well.... In retrospect, what Gaspar should have done was not try to outrace George but to tell him that he (Gaspar) has already seen the tape and told the bank officials that the forger was George. That way, George wouldn't dare harm him, since it wouldn't do any good. True, Gaspar didn't tell the bank official who the forger was, just that he'd handle it, but George doesn't know that. I wonder whether Gaspar has survived the car crash. If so, I guess we'll have yet another telenovela cliche: the attempt to kill someone in the hospital.

As for Vincente, since he probably didn't erase Ines' phone message, all he has to do is listen to it again to know that she said what he thought. I hope that happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm a bit surprised that Ricardo would tell Bert what he overheard, given that in an earlier conversation, Bert pointed out to him that there was still one person still alive--Ricardo. As you've pointed out, Hombre, Bert could very well decide the best way to deal with the situation is to get rid of Ricardo. That would make one down, many more to go.

SANTA

Hombre, you said "We finally find out why Hortensia is racist." I don't think that's true. Had she not already been a racist, she wouldn't have assumed that her son (who fired first) was shot just because he was white, and that if he had been black, the black cop wouldn't have shot him.

MARIDO

Great job, Adriana. Many thanks.

One reason I started to watch this TN was the presence of Juan Soler, and I must say I'm enjoying his performance a lot. Though there are others doing a capable job, he stands out for me. I think there's no one else in the cast whose performance would make me say in the future, "oh, I loved him/her in Marido, I think I'll watch this new TN."

MARIDO:

Great recap, Adriana! I see you're grooming your little godson to be a future telenovela watcher!

When Tony said to Pati, you don't think I took advantage of you, do you? I hoped she would say you sort of did. But no. Still, she has tried to make it clear to him that everything's not all fine and dandy, just because they made love (in her fragile state).

I also doubt that TC will apologize to Pati.

Manuel had some nerve telling Celeste you slapped me, and a woman must never hit a man! Her response that men shouldn't hit women went right by him. He's terrible, blaming his poverty for his actions. He's right that it's unlikely he can ever change back to the loving husband he supposedly was at the start of the marriage.

I also felt a little sorry for Barbara. Even Gris told K that the mothering instinct is so strong, that's why Barb wants to hug her child, although she abandoned him. Barb also is trying to keep Max from fighting, to protect his health. So she has a few good attributes, although they don't begin to counterbalance her selfish and vain side.

SANTA

Thanks, Hombre, for your excellent recap, especially the part about Sam's plan to "get" Barbara. I didn't catch that at all. There was a lot happening yesterday in Mayberry, and you got it all.

Once again Santi has stepped in it. Looked to me like Vicente was slowly putting 1 and 1 together and getting "Ines set this up!", but he won't do anything to upset his nina.

Santi should enlist Ivan to make a fake birth certificate for Wee Willy. Ivan is very good with computer hardware, so maybe he's also good with software.

Ines mother died in childbirth? Hard for me to believe.

Doesn't anyone think it's strange that Daniela would date her cousin Ivan? (Like mother, no boundaries?) George didn't bat an eyelash at Dani's demand to be set up for a date with Ivan. But of course, George is evil scum, so you can't expect any better from him.

Juanita, I was thinking the same thing about the Gaspar/George convo outside the bank. All Gaspar had to do was say, "Back off, the police already know it was you."

I took the blood and head injuries to mean that glass and metal from the crash hit Gaspar's head. At high velocity, flying debris can cause even fatal injuries.

Patricio looked so ….. eager(?) for his tour. It kinda creeped me out.

I'm guessing Horti was a racist before Felipe was shot.

Beth

SANTA:

Juanita, you're totally right, Hortensia was already a racist. In some ways, it's surprising that Arturo isn't, having been brought up by such a strong willed, prejudiced mother.

Marido,

thanks so much Adriana,

I was disappointed that Griselda had the final jail chat with Manuel,
as it had the effect of taunting him,
and I think moved her up to the top of his beat down list.

I was figuring Manual would be out of a job as soon as Ro got back to TC,
but maybe not as Ro arrived at work his usual happy self.

so now I'm thinking TC and Manuel will be best buddies in the rid-the-world-of-Griselda club,

so Barbara has started pushing for the money,
to keep Max from fighting,
and Max is fighting to save Barbara from her schemes,

so refreshing to see the galan, Reinaldo, not being a dummy,
and what a wonderful daughter he has.

SANTA

Excellent recap, Hombre. Sometimes a less-than-stellar telenovela can inspire the recapper to new heights of sarcasm.

This whole episode was double beanie, winch tightened. There was the miraculous appearance of Ricardo to hear his nickname bandied about. There was Santiago's baffled face, apparently accepting that, if he didn't leave town, he'd have to walk down the aisle with Idiot Inés.

Beth, I absolutely think it's strange that Danni is so eager to date her first cousin. Considering her mother, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I thought Vicente told Humberto that he needed to start being nice to Samanda. What happened to that?

I do agree with others that have posted that Bert is starting to have a yen for Samanda and it's going to drive him nuts that she's not into him at all.

GENERAL

Novelera,

Just wanted to wish you a wonderful time in Spain.
Travel safe and tell us all about it when you get back. We will miss your voice around here.

Santa,

thanks Hombre,

I had some confusion about "Toro" so I went back and watched the Paula/cellmate#1 death scene again, and where I thought that guy had that same tattoo, I was Wrong, they were showing Ricardo's arm after the dead guys last words were "Toro", so, no one but us has seen that tattoo, hope I didn't confuse anyone with my earlier comments.

so Vicente was duped by Ines,
and really has these old world ideas,

I love to watch George steam when Gaspar keeps calling him Jorge,

so glad the crib wasn't for willy,
I really don't know why Santa is going along with this plan,
(and we haven't seen him since)
these people are nuts,
Santiago did say he could just take willy back home,
and when are you going to call your parents, Santa,

at least Mara and Santa seem to be bonding over their forbidden loves,
neither has anyone to talk to.

MARIDO

Thanks, Adriana! You might consider your recap low-fat, but it was very satisfying indeed.

I am really enjoying this novela. I think it has the lowest number of completely unbelievable characters of any of Telemundo's offerings. People are nuanced here. I especially enjoyed the scene at the school with Bárbara. My understanding is that she really, really does love Máximo. We weren't shown how much earlier on, and many of us suspected she'd dump him for the newly wealthy Quique. She's greedy, of course, but a big part of her wants the money to keep Max from fighting. And it's hurting her a lot to give up Quiquito for the money.

Hombre, I'm glad to see you've also lost all respect for Juan Pablo. Esther said it perfectly: She's never seen and will never know the biological father of the baby she hopes to bear. While he's been blatantly unfaithful to her. And in his twisted logic their sins are equal?

I get a big kick out of TC's scenes with Rei. Both actors are good together, as he tries patiently to weed-whack his way through the nuttiness to what is really going on.

I'm wondering what happened to Rei's ultimatum to TC. He said she'd have to apologize to Gris. That scene where she stormed over to the house when the realtor was showing it was the farthest thing from an apology you could imagine.

GENERAL

Thanks, NovelaMaven, for the kind words. I am getting very excited. I've never been to Spain before. I got a very kind email today from the Argentinian owners of the hotel I booked in Madrid. They gave me very detailed instructions about various ways of getting from the airport to their hotel.

Novelera- Have an amazing time in Spain!

MARIDO:

Rei doesn't even know yet about the last confrontation between TC and Gris in the new house, nor about TC's plot to keep Gris from moving into the hood. He keeps taking those late night walks, instead of coming home after he's done at the restaurant, so I'm not convinced that he's totally decided not to leave TC yet. I think, like Gris, he's doing a lot of thinking about what he wants to do next with his life.

GENERAL

Novelera,

I'd say that sounds like a very good sign! How thoughtful of them.

MARIDO

Thank you so much, Adriana. The recap is terrific, and I'm impressed with your multi-tasking skills.

I don't have much to add to what everybody else has already said. Tony is setting himself up for the fall of the century. His complete inability to hear what Pati has told him can only mean that some gi-normous anvil will hit him hard. I don't see how he can end up with Pati the way he is currently.

I was glad to see that the school did its job and called KiKi rather than letting Barbie visit alone with Kikito in true tn fashion.

NOTE: I didn't see a recap for today so I did it. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes.

(UGH! They're back to that first theme song…)

Tomás tells Estela and AA that Karina was the victim of a robbery. He encourages Estela to divulge anything she might know. NOT! AA asks to speak with Estela alone but Tomás says it's his house and AA chose not to live there. He asks her to leave.

Pedro finds out that Marge and Oleg are an item. Awkward! Lupita accuses Rueben of turning his back on her. Mireya says that the Perez clan follows the rich people. Marge asks Pedro if he's in love with Ignacia and almost faints when he tells her he is.

Mireya asks Neto to kill Ignacia. When he protests about how it's a crime (duh!) and they'll both burn in hell she backpedals and says she just wants him to make her disappear. She suggests causing an accident but she'll leave the final details up to him. "She has to suffer as much as I have suffered." Pedro drops by to say she shouldn't have told his mother about Ignacia. Mireya counters that she would have found out eventually. She wishes them happiness but says it will be built on the sadness of others.

In the kitchen Gina, Marge, and Oleg discuss Pedro's revelation. The sisters ask Oleg to leave so they can discuss in private how Pedro is in love with his sister. Gina warns Marge that Pedro has to know the truth about his parents. She says that she never wanted any of this to happen, that she never planned to have a child. Just then in walks Lupita who says, "So I was right." [about Gina having been pregnant] She badgers Gina who denies that she had a child. Lupita says she will find out the truth. Pedro walks in with this quizzical look on his face, as though he were saying, "What now?"

Lupita doesn't want to go to school, even a fancy one. Marge informs her that she can't hang around doing nothing.

Ignacia is packing up her stuff when JM calls. He wants her to stop by his office to discuss Karina. Isabel has arranged a simple memorial service for Karina; JM is grateful.

Estela is so anxious that she can't even pour a cup of tea for herself. He asks her if she was going to spill the beans to her mother. She denies that was her intention.Tomás sends her to another room and he pours some of that strong sedative into the tea. He brings it to her and she drinks it. We don't know if she notices an off-taste. May I say that few men can look that good in a light purple sport coat?

DYO miércoles 4 de septiembre Minicap Part 2

Gema throws all of El Duro's gifts into a trash can and sets fire to them. She wants to go far away…

At work Neto remembers Mireya's words while fingering his wire cutters. Ignacia comes in looking for Oleg. She comments that Neto looks pale and asks if anything is wrong. His response is a barely audible, "No."

Lupita goes to Reuben's and accuses him of having another girlfriend. He denies this and explains that she can't come to live with him because with Ignacia being separated they need the room for her. And Reuben is instantly caught in this lie because Mariano comes into the room and asks Lupita where her luggage is and tells her how eager they are to have her return. Reuben has this sheepish look on his face. Gina arrives and they all figure out that Reuben made the up the story. He admits that he did it for Estela who demanded (hysterically) that Lupita not return to the apartment. He explains the tumor and how Estela needs to remain calm. He asks Lupita to forgive him. Lupita says her mother is sick and never would demand something so "ugly." She walks out on Reuben.

Marge stops by Oleg's to get her sewing machine. She tells Mireya that Pedro's love for Ignacia is an "amor prohibido" and eventually he will go back to her. Mireya doesn't want to wait for him to realize this. She admits to Marge that she broke the sewing machine in a fit a rage after Pedro broke it off with her. Marge wonders what she'll do because she has business pending that she can't finish. Mireya tells her she doesn't want to work with the mother of that "desgraciado." That was a short-lived business. Oh, and she doesn't want Marge in her house in spite of her being her father's novia.

Ignacia arrives at HQ. We see her park her car and Neto spying on her. JM tells Ignacia that he thinks Tomás did it because he had the most to gain by her death. Cara impactada de Ignacia. She can't go back to Tomás' home and says she has no home now. Mariano would welcome you with open arms. JM offers his home but she declines and gets into her car.

Marge tells Oleg that their noviazgo is over.

AA arrives at Tomás' home with two suitcases. She says she's moving back in because Estela needs her.

We don't actually see what Neto does to the car. We see him touch the hood leaving his fingerprints. We see him acting suspicious. And we see him running from the scene. And someone sees him run by. He goes back to Mireya's and she asks him if he did what she asked. He takes out the wire cutters and puts them on the sofa. Mireya guesses he did something to her car (most likely severed the brake lines). He leaves and she turns, smiles, and starts to laugh. Sofía Lama has a very pretty smile and it's too bad we can't see it more often.

"did she offer to buy Margarita a new sewing machine?"

No, she did not. Marge should sue. Oh, the money would come from Oleg if she won unless Mireya is cheating the government and getting disability.

Thank you so much Sue455, your mini recap was much appreciated! That Neto, I can't believe he would go to the dark side. No way. But Mireya looks pretty sure of her influence over him. Apparently she doesn't care what people think of her rudeness and tantrums. One more question: while Estela is lolling in a drug induced stupor, do you suppose she will still have her trademark hairdo???

Thanks so much, Sue. Excellent recap! Mireya continues her little reign of terror by insulting everyone and using her paralysis for cover. This actress is good. I love watching her facial expressions change from bland disinterest to fury to malevolence.

Since we didn't actually see Neto do anything to Iggy's car, and I could not see grease or dirt on him or his clothes, I'll hope he did not damage the car. If he did, though, as you pointed out, he left fingerprints.

Maybe Nomas will use the sedative only to settle Estela down and not kill her.

Gotta admire AA's spunk! Marched right into the lion's den, suitcase and all.

Thanks so much for stepping in, Sue!! I have to watch online now so I don't see the episodes until the next day, and I didn't have internet access today until just now. Grrr.

I'll be glad to recap Thursday's and Friday's episodes, but will be out of town Monday through Wednesday next week so won't be able to recap again until next Thursday and Friday.

Thanks again Sue! You're a lifesaver ;)

I do NOT like the way Neto's character is going, by the way. This ticks me off. WAAAY over Mireya.

SANTA DIABLA... Thursday (epi 22)
part 1

Paula, at work, finishes fiddling with some files, before handing them to an excited Vicente,
who's expecting this case to be a big win for the firm,
as he walks away, Paula smiles,

Gaspar is taken out of his wrecked car by the truck drivers,
he looks bad,
George is watching from his red corvette,
says something like, the dead don't talk,

Santiago is packing to leave (again), while Ivan looks on,
he confides in Ivan, to tell Amanda, and ask that she leave with him,

Santa finally gets willy alone and brings him to her room,
he is still not talking, but she explains the new setup, not to call her mom, etc. at least they are under the same roof, what they are doing will be revenge for Willy, etc., etc.
Humberto comes to the door and quietly listens in, (it's hard to read his thoughts)
he leaves and walks downstairs,
where he runs into Francisca who has juice for willy,
he stops her from going up, knowing she will run into Amanda and willy together,

George comes home, Humberto gets the call on Gaspar,

Barbara, who has made a miraculous recovery (average time in this novela, 1 episode, unless you are in the hospital which is never, or, 1 episode after you are released) and is looking attractive, has found a nice bar, a drink, and men to flirt with, gets a text, 'un beso!' from Ricardo, returning the same text sent to him from Barbara's phone by Amanda,

the Cano clan arrives at the hospital, Humberto wants to know if Gaspar is alive, yes,
then George wants to know if he is conscious, no,

Lucy hounds Pancho all the way back to the station,
he feels like a fool for failing to capture the fence,
and he just can't shake Lucy, he finally has to insist that she leave,
what about later,
no,
or...
no never, we're done!

Victoria returns with Patricio, after showing him around all day,
she has to fix dinner, he wants to take her to dinner,
he moves in for a kiss, she turns her cheek, then escapes,
he pulls out the picture he took from her album,

Gaspar is out of surgery and moved to his intensive care room,
(you know, way at the back where no one ever goes)
but no one is allowed to see him yet,
George slinks away,

Carlos drags Pancho to the Golden Clover,

Santiago is making his getaway when Amanda calls him about Gaspar,

George finds Gaspar's room,
he explains to the unconscious Gaspar how he asked for his help, but Gaspar turned him down, how if Gaspar lives he will go to jail, etc., etc.,
(you know the, I'm really sorry, but you must die, speech)
and as he goes to cut off his air, a nurse comes him,
after formally introducing himself and expressing his concern for Gaspar,
the nurse kicks him out,

Barbara gets home, looks like she has had a few,
Begoña tells her about Gaspar,
she makes it to her room and lies down,

Pancho at the Golden Clover, chooses a NEW girl,
Carlos tells a sexy Transito how Mara will cure him,
she puts her clothes back on as he goes on, and on,
detective Pancho gets this quiet new girl to talk,
she is from Mexico, they've taken her passport, and threatened her,
who, Pancho asks,
I can't tell you, maybe tomorrow, she runs out,
Pancho being a good cop tells his boss (Carlos) all,

DYO

Yea Christopher Malquiades! You the man!. I don't know why I remember Neto's real name. So glad he didn't do anything to Iggy's car. And so glad he told Oleg that Miryea wants Iggy to disappear.

@ J in Oregon: I don't think anything can destroy Estela's hairdo. Maybe cremation.

SANTA DIABLA... Thursday
part 2

Santiago finds his way to the hospital with Ivan and Lisette,
(who were with him when he got the call),
Francisca does her, what the... why are they here,
Hortensia wants to know as well,
Daniela moves closer to Ivan,
Santa casually wanders off, under Humberto's watchful eye,
finds Santiago alone, and comforts him,
they talk, they touch, they kiss,
Humberto quietly watches, are those flames flickering behind those eyes,

Humberto backs away, calls for Amanda, giving them time to break,
but he isn't very pleasant company,
he gets on Santiago again about dna tests for him and guillermo,

the Doctor reports on Gaspar,
he will be paralyzed,

Victoria retreats to her room, and looks lovingly through her picture album,
wait, where is the picture of my mother,
(we see Patricio find his way to the patio, where he burns it)

later Victoria with her album goes looking for Ivan,
finds his empty room,
and a shirt to smell,
before Patricio interrupts,

Vicente pulls Humberto away, and asks again for the pre-nup,
it no longer exists, Humberto tells him,
do you understand how serious this is, if Gaspar dies...
you must get it signed anew,
Gaspar won't die, says Humberto,

Humberto walks and Vicente moves on to Santiago,
we won't discuss what happened between you and Ines for now,
Santa, quietly reading a magazine, suddenly comes alive,
with daggers in her eyes, she quietly moves next to Santiago, what did happen between...

Hortensia, in the polite way only Hortensia can do,
explains to Lisette how this is a Cano affair and she should leave,
Lisette smiles and doesn't,

elsewhere,
Mara has totally worn out Arturo,
and is sure she is now pregnant,

Ivan offers Daniela a soda,
she wants something stronger, that will make this nightmare go away,
he doesn't have...
she knows where to get some, and wants Ivan to come with her, please, Please,

Santa gets away, and comes upon Paula, why are you here,
don't you understand about the inheritance, Paula tries to explain,
you MUST kill Gaspar,
NOW.

MARIDO THURSDAY

Part 1/3

TC assures Rei that she didn’t kill anyone with the gun, she was looking for something in the drawer and the gun fired on its own. Rei believes her (kind of), but decides to place the gun in the safe, because keeping it so close to them is dangerous. While TC is having a flashback with the “accidental” fire, Rei asks her not to use the gun anymore.

Gris doesn’t want to sell her car, she has it from her dad; she might end up buying a new one, but she’ll keep her old van, too, no matter what her fancy new neighbors think about it.

Sol is very happy they are alone in the house, but Celeste is having a hard time dealing with the situation. She is looking at a picture from her wedding (Manuel looked like an ogre back then, too) and she’s sad.
Paloma is happy Celeste finally did something against Manuel. Gris and Amalia talk about Celeste’s future; Gris wants to help Celeste financially, so she can open her own business (a laundry place, where you can drink coffee while you wait??)

Talking with K, Gabe thinks Gris is helping too many people, who are taking advantage of her new wealth. K agrees, but is happy that Gris won’t be giving Barbie the 5 mill she asked for. Clara gets very upset when she finds out about Barbie’s demands.

Now that Clinton, the old coach, is back to Dubai, Max is ready to go find a new trainer, some guy called Barbosa. Barbie still doesn’t want him to fight, he asks her to relax about it.

Gris and Little K talk about what he’d like for dinner; she starts fixing him something, when she finds Rei’s gift, the oil, and reminisces a little; Gabe calls her (oh, how I DID NOT miss his clinging), he feels abandoned, Gris gets rid of him quick.

Iris and Mario arrive at Palmer Gourmet, of course they don’t have a reservation, but they demand a table, anyway. Vanesa agrees to this, after Rei discreetly allows her to. I wonder if they plan to pay for their meal…

Tony brought Daniel to show him the new house, but this was only a pretense to see Pati again; and, sure enough, there she is, arriving home, but totally ignoring Tony, while he seems very pleased with himself all the same (IDIOT!)

TC has spent the entire day locked in her room, and now when she’s finally out and meets Pati downstairs, she thinks the girl came to apologize. Pati wants the same from her mother and, as you can all imagine, nothing is solved. TC reminds Pati how she needs her parents (or, better said, how she won’t be able to handle things on her own), so if she apologizes and stops rebelling things can go back to normal.
Pati gets mad, decides to leave the house, so she goes upstairs to pack, not yet knowing where to go. Ro uses his diplomacy to calm down TC, advising her to ask for Rei’s help in the conflict with her daughter.

MARIDO THURSDAY

Part 2/3

Esther brings JP her new designs and asks him to revise them objectively. Also, she has an answer for his proposition to forget about the baby and return to their marriage – she won’t give up on her maternity plans, even if she has to do things on her own.
JP can’t see Esther change diapers, he accuses her of abandoning Fina Estampa, but after he gets the chance to revise the designs, he has to agree they are her best work.
Esther is determined to do it all, work and baby, JP agrees that so far she is good at multitasking, but he still won’t support her idea of having a baby that won’t belong to any of them.
Marcia sees Esther distraught and Esther asks her employee for discretion, if for nothing else, then for Fina Estampa.

Rei is in his office when Vanesa walks in, all worried to see him upset (girl, please!). Rei wants to talk about Pati, instead, but Vanesa knows nothing about the conflict with TC, so she thinks Pati is only upset because of Tony. Simon comes in to ask for Rei’s assistance and interrupts the forced tête-à-tête.

Iris orders the most expensive wine on the menu, she’s sure Rei won’t ask her to pay and if he does, she won’t do it, anyway.
TC calls Rei, tells him that as hard as she begged Pati to reconsider (riiiight), the girl is still determined to leave the house. Rei is shocked to hear this, he’ll be home right away. Not before telling Simon to make Iris pay for dinner, though (this will be fun) – if not, they’ll want to come eat for free every night.

Brief intermission of Rafa and Amalia going for a drive on his moto.
In the house, Gris is doing the dishes; she is bored by the lack of activity, K thinks she shouldn’t even do that, she’ll have plenty to do when she starts decorating the new house. They also talk about hiring a lawyer to go against Barbie, while Gris is watching her favorite telenovela, Dama y Obrero (?)

Barbie is worried Gris hasn’t yet answered at her demand for the 5 mill, Max thinks she should forget about that money because he’ll go back to fighting. The thought of dyeing in the ring doesn’t seem to scare him, he thinks this would be a dignified death (this scares Barbie plenty, though).

MARIDO THURSDAY

Part 3/3

While Manuel is locked up in his cell, Celeste and Sol are having dinner; neither has too much appetite, though. Some girls come from Sol and she leaves. Gris comes by, asks Celeste that she and Sol spend the night at her house, because they have to talk about the future.
Since Sol isn’t home, yet, Celeste can’t leave, so Gris asks her to come the next morning at her house because there are plenty of things that they need to talk about – she doesn’t give Celeste any kind of details, she has to hurry home, she’s babysitting little K.

Rei arrives home just in time to see Pati with her luggage. He tries to convince her to change her mind, but some more screaming from TC doesn’t help a lot. Pati wants to go to the posada, TC thinks she’ll be joining Tony there, Pati reminds her mom Tony will soon become TC’s neighbor (prompting TC to raise her voice again).
Rei plays the diplomacy card, he doesn’t agree with Pati’s decision, but he can’t force her to stay, either, so he proposes to drive Pati to the posada. TC is furious, but Ro makes her realize that Rei had a very wise reaction, there was no point in forcing Pati, this way at least the doors are open for her to return. TC is sure Pati won’t like the posada, but she’s not so willing to receive her back with open arms.

Just as Iris and Mario are about to leave, Simon comes with the check. What? My sobrina owns this place, Iris screams and calls TC – but TC doesn’t interfere in the administration of the restaurant, that’s Rei’s domain, he decides who pays and who doesn’t. HA!

As Pati and Rei arrive at Paloma’s and Pati is given a room, Tony overhears and is overjoyed. Rei asks Paloma to let him know if TC comes by or calls and goes back to the restaurant.
Paloma shows Pati her room, tells her about the alternative way of life the posada offers. Pati thinks this is just what she needs right now, some peace and quiet.

What she doesn’t need is Tony lurking in the hallways, wanting to draw her attention. After he successfully rejects Diosa’s invite for another bottle of whiskey, he makes his way to Pati’s room – this is so not an endgame couple, Tony’s attitude proves me this every day.

SANTA:

Deb, thank you. This was a wonderful recap. I couldn't watch last night (football), but I could picture every scene through your beautiful writing!

Yes, Santa may be upset about Santi and Ines, but of course HE could be upset about Santa sleeping with Bert and getting pregnant. I'd say they're about even (except that he has to explain that Ines drugged him).

One would think that maybe after things die down, whether Gaspar dies or not (hopefully not), Francisca could talk to the bank manager (it may be a joint account), and he could show HER the video George. But I'm guessing that'll never come up.

So we know one of the ladies in the picture Patricio burned was Vicky's mother. But lots more mysteries remain!

DYO jueves, part 1/2

Abue wants to move back into Casa Villano to be with Estela Histerica, but Tomas puts up a fight. Feisty AA wins. Estela, who has recovered her neatly coiffed hairdo and her state of mind, is happy to have AA back. Alone in the serial killer kitchen, Tomas caresses his little bottle of tranquilizers.

Olegario isn’t happy that Marge wants to break it off just because Mireya is being a brat. He convinces Marge that they shouldn’t let Pedro’s and Mireya’s issues pull them apart and she agrees, so the noviazgo is still on.

Gina comforts Lupita assuring her Ruben will come to his senses. Lupita insists on holding a grudge.

The robbery at the obra is on, despite Angel’s cold feet. They are interrupted by the security guard. There is a scuffle, one of the thugs (hard to tell which one with them all masked and dressed in black) is shot in the arm, the other one (or maybe the same one?) hits the guard in the back with something he got out of his bag. “You killed him!” says Thug #1. They run. That must have been one strong whack.

Tomas serves up Estela’s Special Tea while she’s being comforted by Ruben and AA. Ruben thanks him for being so attentive to his poor, sick mother.

Not knowing that AA has gone back to Casa V, Mariano tells Ignacia that something weird is up with Abue. He tells her about the phone call he overheard, and suspects that AA is metido in something.

Tomas dreams about seducing Ignacia, which ends with her shouting “I don’t love you!!” over and over again. He wakes up in a cold sweat, and I note that his bulging muscles make his head look really small.

Angel stumbles into his house, groaning at the gunshot wound in his arm. Mama freaks out. It turns out it’s just an ugly scrape. Angel makes up a story about hanging out with the cuates when a car came really close and scraped him… he thinks it might be the banda that was chasing him earlier (don’t know if I got this right… my online captioning doesn’t work and he was talking a mile a minute), he makes Mama promise that she will say he was here in the house with her all night.

Ignacia goes back to the apartment to stay for a while.

Olegario is startled by Neto in the courtyard (Oleg apparently needs his peripheral vision checked), and Neto warns him that Mireya is sick with hate and capable of doing something very bad, including trying to kill someone. He’s worried about her and doesn’t want her to end up in the bote for something she didn’t think through. Then he runs off into the night.

Pedro, having done what he does best and hearing the end of the conversation, wants to know from Oleg what Neto was talking about… why did he say she’d be capable of trying to kill someone?? Oleg dodges the question and plays it off and makes a hasty retreat to his casita.

DYO jueves, part 2/2

Yay, faith is restored in Neto!!

Upon arriving home, Oleg is greeted by a grumpy Mireya. He tells her she’s behaving like a spoiled brat (Yay Papacito!) and she says that his dating Margarita is a betrayal. Man, this witch is on fire.

Candy is abducted in a parking garage by men in a van who blindfold her and demand to know where Gema is. She doesn’t know where she is, she says, but is this YOU Emilio?? Gema knows you’re married and have kids!! Her abductors look somewhat surprised and one of them slaps her as the van speeds off. Up until this point, I was open to the possibility that Candy had been in on the whole thing, but now it doesn’t look plausible…

The security guard is alive, and jefe de bodega is announcing that they think it was some kind of robbery attempt. Angel walks up… “Is he dead? Did they kill him in the robbery?” Guy Standing Next To Jefe responds, “how did you know it was a robbery?”

Pedro is looking for a job, and wants Tia Gina to step in as inversionista on the project to teach Tomas a lesson about how to treat people.

Mireya interrupts a Gina/Mariano kiss and makes a comment about the Perezes and their affinity for rich folk before she rolls off. Gina is upset and worried that M is going to say something to Lupita who is already suspicious about Gina having an hijo.

JM walks into the obra office to find Oleg and Angel. Oleg explains that Angel somehow knew about the robo before anyone else. JM dismisses Oleg to talk to Angel alone.

Cozy breakfast at Casa Villanomayor, in which Tomas neglected to set a third place setting for AA. Tomas gives Estela her Special Tea and exchanges indirectas with AA. “I can’t stand her,” he tells Estela after AA leaves the room. “How long is she staying?”

Van guys dump unconscious (dead?) Candy in a field.

Oleg calls Isabel to inform her that Angel may have tried to rob the obra, and JM questions Angel who says that he was at home with his Mama Santa last night.

Marge is stressed that she has all of this sewing to do and no sewing machine, thanks to Pedro for breaking up with Mireya and making her all mad (REALLY, MARGE???). Pedro promises to buy her a sewing machine when he gets a job.

At the apartment, Ruben is telling Ignacia that he’s worried about Mama… she seems dizzy and tired. They decide they need to find Estela’s doctor and find out what is going on. [sidenote: I had to watch this scene several times because I kept getting distracted by Ignacia’s weird Joan Collins style hair and accessories to listen closely to the dialogue…] Mireya shows up at the apartment and Ruben excuses himself.

Mireya has come to see Lupita to tell her something, but she is informed Lupita doesn’t live there any more. Mireya finds out that Iggy and Tomas have separated, and Ignacia admits that she would like to be with Pedro now that she’s not with Tomas anymore. Mireya is open-mouth impactada.

Gina shows up at Tomas’s office and threatens to pull her money out of the Royal East LA project unless he puts Ignacia back on the project.

Santa
Tks deb
I forgot who set Barbara up for the beat down????? She has not learned a lesson.

Santa's team is very inepto at undercover, especially Santa, caught twice by Humberto.

Can't believe she is capable of murder, at least not Gaspar, who is not responsible for any of the bad stuff.

MARIDO:

Great recap, Adriana. Thank you!

I agree that at this point Tony is just awful, and Pati shouldn't give him the time of day. I still think he'll change someday. I have no clue what it would take. But it just seems that the writers are telling us that Pati just "loves" Tony, despite everything, and as we know, love usually wins out in the end.

We have a number of bad partners. But their "sins" are all different amounts. Tony is a liar, and thinks money is everything. This really isn't as bad as some of the others. Leonardo is similar to this, although he's also doing illegal things. Rafael is doing even MORE illegal things, and he had sex with Tony's fake mother, but I think even HE might be redeemable. JP cheated, that's inexcusable, but maybe, oneday, he and Esther can find their way back to each other. Then there's Manuel, the worst of them all. Not redeemable, hopefully he will suffer for his crimes.

A couple screencaps from the last couple episodes for your amusement...

http://s275.photobucket.com/user/thbteacher/library/Novela%20Fun

Santa,

thanks Hombre,
you always have something nice to say,

as I've mentioned before my Spanish isn't so good,
I can do the play-by-play,
but I depend on you and others to keep the details straight.

I'll try to do a recap for tonight,
but I guess Mondays will remain open for anyone else.

Marido,

thanks so much Adriana,
I really enjoy reading your recaps,

I was worried about Celeste having no income,
but this Laundromat idea might change her whole life,

hmm, I thought Griselda's favorite novela was "Marido En Alquiler",
from the music they played,

I'm enjoying watching Tia Iris and Mario living the good life,
with no money.

DyO,

great recap Amy!
you are so in tune with this story,
I can almost see you on that colorful park bench taking notes,

I keep thinking Margarita is too old for Olegario,
she has one foot in the grave,
and he is the top foreman on a major construction job,
(and he seemed to really go for Gina 1, who was so full of life)

Mireya, "Man, this witch is on fire."
that says it all, Amy,
but so far she hasn't come flying out of that chair,
like a big evil cat, pouncing on it's prey,

I too was stopped by Ignacia's new look,
so pale and pasty, with big jewels,
you could put her in a coffin and have a viewing,

I'm glad Gina remembered she had money, and was an investor
(I'm thinking Gina 1 made the original investment)
between smashing up his office and firing everyone,
I'm having trouble seeing Tomas as a successful businessman.

MARIDO

Thanks so much, Adriana. Your recaps are just wonderful! I'll be commenting today, but that will probably be "That's All Folks" to quote Porky Pig, until I return from vacation

TC is crazy like a fox. She was imperious and awful with Pati, but when she told Rei about it on the phone she definitely cleaned up what she said to make HER the victim. Of course Pati doesn't say a thing about it to her father - which makes no sense to me.

Got a laugh out of the egregious product placement for Telemundo novelas. At first Gris had DyO on, you could hear the theme music, but then the Marido music came on, and I think she said the 9:00 novela (Marido) was her favorite.

OK, Rei drove Pati to the posada, but doesn't she have to get her Mini to get to the university in the morning?

I could have strangled Tony when he was forcing himself into her room.

General,

so happy for you novelera,
ah, an adventure!

SANTA

Deb - thanks so much for your very poetic recap. You make the story flow so perfectly.

Gaspar in ICU at the far end of the hospital with the door closed and no window to the nurses station - apparently Mayberry hasn't caught up with the times. So easy for George (and others) to get to him.

Bert demanding Santi and "Guillermo" take DNA tests is getting to be a running joke. Why doesn't Santi demand the same from him and Ivan? Since this is a tn, someone can always falsify the results.

Variopinta - I'm not sure that anyone arranged Barbara's beat down. She may have finally run into a really bad guy who was going to have sex and then rob her. George may be evil, but he's right about Barbara's sex addiction and need for treatment.

What's so romantic about smelling dirty t-shirts? Ugh!

Patricio has moved from creepy to scary. He knew exactly what he was looking for in Vicky's room, and burning that photo does not bode well for Vicky.

Paula (unlike Santa) does not want justice, she wants revenge. She would have Santa kill innocent people to make her point, probably with the rationale that Willy was innocent of any crime, but killed by the Canos. I wonder if Paula has the will and ability to do the killing herself.

Dani (like mother, like daughter) is still working at her addiction. I have a very uneasy feeling about Ivan leaving the hospital with her.

Beth

SANTA

Thanks so much, Deb. Great job on the recap!

I don't know that much about inheritance, so wasn't really getting Vicente's rant about Samanda becoming an heir. Wouldn't Gaspar have had to have a will with her in it? Are in-laws automatically heirs?

Carlos' conversation at the bordello with Tránsito about Mara "curing" him. All I can say is Eeeeeewwww. And Tránsito, who has had ample evidence of what a dirtbag Carlos is, seems hurt by his obsession with Mara.

That poor woman from México who told Pancho about how she and the others were exploited is probably not long for this world. Carlos was muy impactado by Pancho's telling him what she said.

Mara! Gah! She's still trying to get pregnant. So sad.

Humberto was furious upon seeing Santi and Samanda kissing. It's not 100% clear if his anger is because he hates his brother so much. Or if he's starting to get a yen for Samanda and is jealous.

MARIDO

Adriana - wonderful recap as usual. Thank you! I had the same reaction you did to Celeste's and Manuel's wedding picture. Manuel looked pretty sour and mean back 20 years ago. Celeste is still not seeing that he's always been an sob.

Since I use the super size washer/dryer at the laundromat, I thought Gris' idea about a laundromat with coffee and snax is a good idea. Hmm, maybe next door to the Tacos Bar with Gabe?

Did Max say that if he won the fight, he'd die a happy man? If he did, darn!

I loved Iris and Mario at Palmer Gourmet. They probably ordered everything on the menu - and then the most expensive bottle of wine in the house. And Iris certainly was enjoying her dinner. Poor Simon, having to deal with those two.

What a sweet man Rei was, asking Paloma to let him know if TC calls or shows up at the posada. He knows his wife and is trying to protect his daughter's feelings.

Tony continues to annoy. Pati, on the other hand, seems to be seeing his character more clearly every day and developing more resistance to his "charm".

Novelera - It seemed to me that Vicente was concerned that, if Gaspar dies, state law would automatically allow Amanda to get 50% of Bert's estate if they divorce (and 100% of his estate if he dies). The unspoken assumption is that the pre-nup specified much less financially if Bert and Amanda divorced. Vicente may have a selfish motive since he's romancing Fran.

MARIDO:

One thing Paloma said to Diosa while discussing Celeste, is that Celeste is in the country illegally, and that was one of the reasons she never brought charges against Manuel because she thought she would be deported. This was a subtle PSA because this is a real problem. Police do have trouble getting illegal immigrants to report crimes against them for exactly this reason. And states that have passed laws that law enforcement officers have to act if they suspect someone is illegal are just making the problem worse.

Gris setting up a business in Celeste’s name might run into trouble because of Celeste’s legal status.

If Celeste is illegal, but Manuel is legal, he’s a bastard for not having gone through the process to make her legal a long time ago. Well, that wouldn’t be a surprise.

Santa,

hmm Beth,

I suppose in the event of both Gaspar and Humberto deaths, Santa's take would include a sizable portion of the G-Cano law firm of which Vicente is a partner.

and I would suppose that Gaspar has allocated most of his business empire to Humberto, enough that in the hands on Santa, could spell total ruin for the Canos, as Paula well knows,

and I think Vicente as Humberto's confidant, is well aware of the risks/consequences of the game Humberto is playing with Santa Martínez.

(btw, I think from something said in last night's show, as well as something I remember from the flashback when Humberto first investigated Willy Delgado, there is no doubt that Humberto knows about Paula, right?)

DyO

Amy, your recap had me laughing from the first line - "Estela Histerica" and then "this witch is on fire" are inspired. Thank you for the daily snark!

I thought that, even though Angel did commit the break in, Oleg jumped the gun when he accused Angel of involvement so quickly. Oleg had just said the guard was injured in the robbery attempt as Angel arrived on scene, and Angel could easily have heard Oleg's statement. Of course MaMa will vouch for Angel's whereabouts, and Oleg will be accused of being biased against Angel.

Didn't AA look like she was suspicious of the tea when she went into the "serial killer kitchen" (another great one, Amy)?

Beth

Santa
Beth, someone did arrange for Barbara to meet the dressing rm, beat down guy, knowing her weakness. I just can't remember who or why. I keep thinking Vicente, but can't remember the reason.

I don't think the Santa team is that good, but maybe?

Vivi, where are you & your incredible memory??????

SANTA:

LOL! Sorry Variopinta. I'm not watching Santa Diabla.

SANTA

Variopinta, I don't remember anyone setting up Dressing Room Guy to flirt with Bárbara. It's unlikely the Cano family would have risked the scandal.

The setup that was done was Vicente having a couple of guys pretend to be cops, grab up George and go to the point of clicking an unloaded gun at his head.

MARIDO:

Vivi, if Celeste is undocumented and Manuel a citizen, Celeste having him arrested is a good thing for her wrt changing her status. For one thing, the Violence Against Women Act has a provision that allows undocumented women who are abused by their spouses to file for their paperwork based on the fact that her citizen husband is abusing her. Having him arrested for domestic violence and having Sol now old enough to verify that yes, her father is abusive, in addition to Gris, can help her normalize her status. I'm not sure if the same applies if Manuel is only a green card holder, but if he's a citizen beating his wife, Celeste can fix her immigration issues without him as long as she has proof of his abuse. I know several immigration organizations here in NYC that deals exclusively with those types of cases for free. They only ask for the immigration fee that USCIS charges.

SANTA

Deb - we know that Bert had Big Willy and family thoroughly investigated right after he took on Dani's and Barbara's fraudulent case, so Bert has known about Santa and Wee Willy for two years. The presumption is that Bert also knew about Paula and possibly/probably Begona from that investigation. Also, I'm sure Bert had Begona investigated before she was hired to work at the casa (but is Begona her real name?). You can tell he knows the rental parents aren't Amanda's by the way he keeps needling her to have her parents visit.

Yes, Paula is well aware of the impact of Gaspar's death on the company, hence the "Kill Him!"

Of course, Bert and Amanda's wedding is not legal (deliberately false name, fraudulent intent) so Santa Amanda should have no claim to any of Bert's estate.

Variopinta - Wow! I must have missed that whole segment, because what I remembered was Barbara's exchanging seductive looks with the guy before she went to the dressing room and then his going in after her. A number of suspects come to mind, but I didn't see any of the set up.

Beth

MARIDO:

J desde NYC- That's great! Is that in all states? I wonder if they'll bring it up on Marido. I hope so. It would be a really good opportunity to educate their audience.

SANTA:

Just to add my opinion, I don't think that anyone set up Barbara. At the time we all speculated that someone did, but no proof of any kind ever came out.

Same with Paula and Begona. Pure supposition, in my opinion. It's very possible that Bert knows about one or both of them, but again, we have no actual evidence of that. Just that we think he must have. But before I'm convinced, I'm going to have to see Bert actually tell someone that he does know about Paula or Begona.

As for Sam not inheriting because she used a false name, I don't even think that's a slam dunk, because telenovela legal rules are pretty much whatever the writers want. Until a character comes out and says she won't inherit because of this, I'm assuming she will. Or why would Vicente be so worried, when he knows Samanda is a fake? And he's a hot shot lawyer.

SANTA

Re: the ongoing saga of who knew what, when and how.

Bert does know from Bull/Toro that Paula and Amanda were trying to find the three men who were in the prison cell with Willy when he was killed, so Bert knows about Paula. Begona is still the wild card.

Beth

SANTA:

Beth, you're right! Thanks for the clarification. I replayed the recording, and Ricardo tells Bert "Your wife and your secretary were talking, and they're after El Toro. That's means they're after me." Since Bert wasn't surprised in the least that his secretary (Paula) was in on this, he MUST know at the very least that she's working with Santa, and probably knows her whole story.

MARIDO:

Vivi, yes, the Violence against Women Act is a federal law and apllies to all 50 states. As long as Celeste has proof of the abuse, and a police report would be the best proof I'm thinking, she can go to a private lawyer or a non-profit organization with lawyers that specializes in VAWA immigration cases and file for legal status by herself if her hubby is a US citizen. I'm not sure if Manuel being a green card holder makes it count, but if evil Manny is a US citizen, Celeste can help herself via VAWA. There's a special visa alloted to that category that leads to citizenship eventually. I hope Telemundo makes sure to I form people about it via Marido because I'm sure a lot of women in the audience could get help.

You're always better off IMHO in reporting domestic violence to the police at least once to cover your tail if you snap and kill your spouse, because then you have a good batter woman's defense. I've seen too many cases of women on trial on CourtTV or Investigation Discovery stab their hubbies 300 times and then claim battered woman's defense and the jury put them under the jail because there's no police report of their hubby's supposed abuse or family members had no clue. Even if you go back after the police report is filed, at least there's a record of an incident.

A lot of states, due in large part to VAWA, also are proactive about trying to get abusers in jail. I think in Nevada if the police is called about a domestic violence incident and someone has obvious marks-a woman with a black eye and the man with no/minimal scratches, the police officer has to charge the man/bring down to the precinct even if the woman is pleading that 'nothing happened.' I don't know how it works in FL where this TN takes place, but a lot of states do that. Celeste shouldn,t be afraid and Gris will gladly pay for a lawyer for her to get her status fixed so shshe can leave Mean Manny.

SANTA DIABLA... Friday (epi 23)
part 1

Patricio walks in on Victoria, in Ivan's room,
she drops Ivan's shirt onto the bed,
is there... no, only you and I are in the house, are those pictures,
yes a family Album,
can I see,
maybe another time, she goes to leave, but Patricio blocks her way,
Victoria insists, Patricio moves only enough so that she has to squeeze by,
she's out the door, to her room, and locks the door,
he picks up the shirt and throws it to the floor,

the priest has joined the Cano clan at the hospital,
Humberto suggests they leave, nothing more we can do, and urges Francisca along,
the rest follow,
Santa, slips away,

on the way out Francisca spots Ivan and Daniela sitting together,
pulls Daniela to her feet and away, and moves in to let Ivan know how she feels,
but Lisette, jumps between them, and tells Francisca off,
then pulls Ivan out of there by the hand,
like a little kid,

at the Golden Clover Pancho speculates the human traffickers are using this place,
Carlos insists he will be in charge,
later Carlos tells Transito to close up and get everyone together, 15 minutes,

Santa finds Gaspar's room,
she thinks over Paula's words, do this for Willy and your son,
she moves to cut off his air,
Santiago shows, he asks, "what are you doing here",
Santa stumbles for words, a tear in her eyes,
Santiago says he knows what her plan is for his family,
no, no, I respect your father, he is an honorable man, I was just...
(I think he knows, but would she have done it)
he stays with Gaspar, she quietly leaves,

Carlos gives his 'this is how it is', speech to the Golden Clover girls,
Transito is behind him,
he pulls out the girl that was with Pancho,
by the hair,
tells how she disappointed him,
and slowly cuts her throat from one side to the other,
lets her drop to the floor,

Santa, on her way out of the hospital, is stopped by Ines,
who tells her to stay away from Santiago,
they will now marry after what happened between then,
and what did happened between you, Santa asks,
but Humberto shows up and hustles Santa along,

at home, Santa and Humberto are getting ready for bed,
(is this the first time we have seen them together at bedtime)
Santa with a cup of tea, sets it down, and leaves,
Humberto, with some powder, dumps it into her cup,
in bed, Santa finishes her tea, Humberto reads.

SANTA DIABLA... Friday (epi 23)
part 2

it's morning,
Vicente is all smiles as he prepares for their big case,
Ricardo drops by the office, does he ask Paula out, is she flattered,
Santa comes down the stairs, the Cano Clan greets her, Santa Martínez,
with Willy in the background,
what??? as Santa awakes in the pines, in pajamas, and bare feet,
she screams for help,
(later we see that Humberto has carried her there)

Humberto leaves for court,
tells Begoña that Santa is missing,
call him if she hears anything,
and laughs to himself all of the way to work,

Carlos, on his way to work,
is met at the door by Arturo, leave Mara alone,
they go face to face, Carlos grabbing Arturo's shirt by the collar, Lisette appears,
they'll finish their discussion later,

the rest of the Cano clan appear at the hospital,
Barbara doesn't like hospitals,
Santiago has spent the night there,

Ines shows up at the Cano mansion to see Guillermo,

the court case is a disaster,
an estatic Paula, off to the back, calls Begoña with the news,
is Humberto looking that way,
Lucy asks who Begoña is talking to,

Santa finally makes her way back to town,
bare feet, limping, goes into Mara's Cafe,
Mara doesn't know what to think,
Santiago shows up, hugs Santa, a friendly wink to Mara,
Santa says she needs to go home, and see her hijo,
they leave,
while Mara ponders, hijo??

over tea, Ivan and Victoria talk about her missing picture,
it was special, was it the last Christmas that she and her mother spent together,

Humberto and Vicente at the home office, talk,
this big case which would have brought them new clients,
is causing the clients they have to back off,
Humberto is convinced it was Santa and Paula that did it,
Santa, I'll kill her,

Ines hugs guillermo, kisses him, moves his mouth because he won't talk,
Begoña comes to his rescue,
but Humberto steps in, it's ok, Santiago and Ines will be married soon,
go find something to do,
to Ines, listen carefully...

Arturo has stopped by the church to talk to the priest,
I will be marrying one woman but love another,
not what the priest wants to hear,
Hortensia appears and wants in on the conversation,

a quiet Transito appears at the police station,
Pancho is curious,
Carlos appears and says, you wanted to interrogate the owner, here she is,
Transito looks defeated,

Francisca is staying by Gaspars side,
George drops by the room to see if there are any changes, no, and leaves,
a little while later Gaspar's eyes pop open,
Francisca runs for the Doctora,

Santiago and a worn out Santa still in her pajamas,
finally arrive at Casa Cano, greeted by Lucy,
a frantic Begoña comes running down the stairs,
"guillermo has disappeared".

SANTA

OMG, Humberto is crazy!!
I love him!

Thank you for the recap, Deb, this was quite an episode!

The more I think about it, the more sure I am that Ivan is not Humber's son - the way he and Daniela navigate towards one another... I see something romantic developing there (coming from her), I don't think the show would go there with cousins, except if they want to show how twisted you can get when you are raised in the Cano family.
Besides that, Daniela is the only girl in Ivan's age group...

I've been meaning to say this before, I think some of you already mentioned it, but here goes: Samanda is a crappy revenger! One moment she's fully determined to make justice, the next one she spills vital secrets to Santi, then she freaks out when she has to do simple tasks as pretending to enjoy a baby crib. She's not even trying to play her part well, the other day she almost killed Barbara in a fit of rage.
I've watched enough revenge stories to know an incompetent plan when I see one ... And don't even get me started with the fact that Humber is always a step ahead, always knows what is going on and what Samanda is planning. Only Paula managed to win one with the trial, but of course it took Humber 5 seconds to realize who was behind his failure.

And another thing I find even more unrealistic. No matter how distanced Santi has become from his family or how much he might hate and be jealous of Humber, why in the world would he go along with Samanda's plan? He loves his mother at the very least, what does he think Sam plans to do with his family that he could live with later on???
This is a major fail, in my opinion, Santi found out way too soon about Sam's plan - it makes me wonder why he freaked out when he found her in Gaspar's room... what did he think, that Sam would kill them with her kindness?

DYO viernes

Just an FYI... won't be able to get a recap up until later this afternoon... this watching online thing is putting a serious cramp in my schedule. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves in the meantime!!

SANTA

Deb, many thanks for your recaps Thursday and Friday. I've found myself exhausted by 10 pm and so I've skipped Santa these past two nights. Thanks to your excellent recaps, I feel as if I've seen the episodes. Indeed, I suspect your recaps were better than the actual episodes! I'm afraid I also won't be able to watch on Monday: the Washington Redskins play the Philadelphia Eagles. What can I say?

MARIDO

I wanted to have the recap up this morning but real life is interfering. I'm 3/4 of the way through the episode so it will be up early afternoon.

DyO
AnotherAmy, don't worry, we know you are working under trying conditions and appreciate every word you write!
Meanwhile: thumbs up to Neto, he has a moral compass! Hooray for Ru-ben, he's really trying to be a good son. The actor that plays Ruben has a real mastery of subtle facial expressions, I am enjoying watching him. And Abue still steals every scene she is in.
Mireya makes that little vein behind my eye feel like it's gonna explode. But when her wheelchair has a collision with a (toy) car, hahahaha! Finally some irony from the writers!

SANTA

Deb, thank you, thank you! Either Dish or our local station kept cutting out the CC last night so I missed 75% of the dialogue. Your recap is truly welcome this morning. And what an episode you got - so much happened, and you gave us a super excellent replay.

I wish I was still young enough to drink a cup of tea before bedtime and then sleep through the night. But I digress… Bert obviously had something wicked in mind for Samanda because he had that "special tn powder" (thanks, Hombre!) in his pj pocket before bedtime. He may "hate" Samanda and threaten to kill her, but I think he's really jealous of that kiss she shared with Santi at the hospital. I can't wait to hear the discussion when he gets home and demands to know where she was all day!

I think we need DNA tests for everybody. I've speculated about Ivan being Arturo's son, and Bert or Santi being Vicente's son and Ines being Vicky's daughter, so I think we should line 'em all up and stick 'em in the arm.

I fear for Gaspar. George will know soon enough that he's awake, and then the poor old guy will be an easy target.

No matter how estranged Santi has been from his father, he clearly loves the man. Santi was the only one to stay by Gaspar's bedside that first night in ICU.

Carlos is awful. I thought he'd just beat the crap out of the Mexican woman, but he wanted to scare the sh!t out of the others. And it worked.

Ricardo and Paula. He knows enough to keep his tattoo covered. I don't think he'll kill her - it's still early in the story. He'll just report everything back to Bert.

I'm surprised Wee Willy didn't run screaming from the room after 10 minutes with Ines. His tolerance is better than mine.

The venganza girls are way behind in points.

Beth

DyO and MARIDO

Amy and Sue - we love and appreciate all your recaps, so no apologies about when you do them. Thank you!

DyO

And yet another interrupted reveal!

Loved Mireya having a mini Merrinche after her mini car crash.

And I'm so glad Oleg overheard Neto and Mireya. Now he knows how serious Mireya's "illness" is.

She may be drugged and tired, but Estela's inner shrew is wide awake.

MARIDO

Is that "falling volleyball star" supposed to be an angel?

TC insists that Manuel won't beat his wife, even if she deserves it? Ha! ha! ha! She really is crazy. Too bad this is going to get deathly serious.

I loved Gris' convo with Celeste. Their as close as sisters and willing to help each other throughout thick and thin.

Beth

MARIDO viernes 6 de septiembre Minicap

Pushy Antonio tries to put the moves on Pati but she is the one who is going to decide if she wants this relationship.

TC is going to get a lawyer for Manuel. He will get him out of jail and will then live at the Palmer abode. Ro fears he will act out against TC but she assures him he will be so grateful to her that he wouldn't dare. Ro calls Celeste to warn her. Celeste lets Gris know. Gris says TC has no shame ("desfachtez") and wonders, as always, what Reinaldo thinks of his wife's whacked-out plans. Celeste thinks Manuel will want to come home at night. Gris warns her not to fall into his trap. Celeste wouldn't touch him if he were covered in gold.

Iris and Mario learn that the way out of stiffing a restaurant is through the kitchen where a large stack of plates awaits them. I think plates are too easy since you can put them through the dish machine if they aren't too fragile. I say they should scrub pots. Iris fakes a heart attack and Reinaldo relents but warns her that the next time they want to dine at Gourmet Palmer the pending bill will have to be paid first. Iris is insulted and gives it back to Reinaldo by saying she thought she was eating in a fine restaurant but the service there was crap ("de quinta"). Furthermore she will have to shake her feet before going inside to get the dust from Reinaldo's pigsty off her shoes. She leaves and we hear Reinaldo say, "Don't come back."

Paloma visits Gris and brings her some vegetables. She predicts that Gris will have not just one man by her side…but two. Victor watches a Diosa puts a picture of Paloma on a computer dating site. Diosa will manage the account and will set it up when she sees the ideal candidate. She swears Victor to secrecy because Paloma doesn't know. Ivan is in his pool with two women when his cell rings. He answers and sees the picture of Paloma.

Amalia and Rafa are at Fashion Motors. He wants to get busy but Amalia is afraid of being discovered. Amalia, why doesn't he just take you to his place? Does he have a place? Rafa says Ivan is a wet blanket and that all bosses are the same. Someday they will be married and he will own his own business. Amalia looks worried because he is sounding like Antonio.

Daniel asks Antonio if he fixed things with Pati. "Not at all."

K and Clara are on their way to the horizontal tango. Meanwhile a sad Babs remembers the scene at Kikito's school and wonders what's happening to her. Gris promises a sleepy Kikito that everyone who loves him will protect him.

Amalia comes home and Gris complains how bored she is now that she doesn't work. She tells Amalia about Paloma's predicition but doesn't say what it is, leaving Amalia dying of curiosity.

Gabe wants to close up and throws out the last table of stragglers. Later we see him on the beach looking out at the sea. Paloma, who is out walking on the beach, sees him. He asks if she thinks he and Gris will ever be more than friends. Just then something falls into the water. It turns out to be a body. Gris and Paloma drag the body to the beach. It's a guy and when he comes to he says, "Griselda, Griselda." Since this is not Miguel Varoni (actually it's Lino Martone) it's not Griselda's husband. So who is the mystery man?

MARIDO viernes 6 de septiembre Minicap Part 2

Evidently Paloma and Gabe leave Mystery Man on the beach because the next morning we see him surrounded by the beach gang. Victor determines he's still alive. Gabe goes to Gris' home and tells her what happened. She goes to the beach. She doesn't recognize him. Paloma thinks the sun can do him harm and suggests they call an ambulance. Why didn't you think of calling an ambulance last night? Mystery Man wakes up and Griselda asks him why he said her name. He doesn't remember saying her name. He says he doesn't recognize her, gets up, and walks away. At Gris' Gabe and K both think he's some con artist after her money and advise her to stay away from him.

Mystery Man is watching the volleyball. Gigante asks him his name. He can't remember and they wind up calling him Elio. He asks Elio if he plays volleyball. Elio shows them he's a beast on the volleyball court (or sand). Ivan jogs by Paloma and she comments to Diosa that he seems to be looking at her more often.

It appears Rafa is up to no good again at Fashion Motors because Susana sees him acting suspicious with some money.

The lawyer goes to see Manuel. He tells him that TC hired him. Since Manuel has no record and is gainfully employed, the lawyer thinks he can get Manuel out. Meanwhile, Reinaldo discusses TC's plan. He can't understand why she would want such a violent person around. She says that what her employees do on their own time isn't her concern. Manuel has always been efficient and she has never had a complaint about him (not true!). She points out that Reinaldo has never complained about him either. Reinaldo is concerned for Manuel's wife. TC says she has thought of her too: she'll order him not to strike her again, even if she deserves it. Reinaldo is disgusted and leaves.

Celeste arrives at Gris' for their talk. Gris is signing the papers for the new house in a while. She tells Celeste that now that she has rid herself of Manuel she can pursue her dream of owning a business. Celeste thinks Gris is trying to give her money and she refuses. Gris says that she will invest in a laundromat business and Celeste would run it. This is more palatable to Celeste. Gris says that Celeste has always been there for her and now she wants to do something in return. Gris can kill two birds with one stone because the people who are coming over can handle that transaction as well. Amalia, K, and Gabe who is always sticking his nose in Gris' business will be present for the signing. Gris calls Antonio who says he has a class but Daniel can take notes for him.

Reinaldo and TC argue about Pati leaving home. Reinaldo says she's of age and she can do what she wants. TC says they should have locked her in her room and chained her to a table. Reinaldo asks her if she realizes how barbaric that is and would her parents have done that to her? Tia Iris and Mario come in; both Reinaldo and TC are less than thrilled. Tia Iris starts talking about TC's parents, especially her mother "who died so tragically." Tia Iris says there are many things she could share with Reinaldo...

Santa
Tks mucho deb

Hmmmmm, Humberto is gaslighting Samanda & is quite proud of himself.

Adriana Noel, I agree 100%. Santa spilling her guts to Santiago was totally ridiculous. She hardly knows him & it is his blood that she is TRYING to ruin. 5 min later she finds out he has used several aliases.

Marido

Sue, thanks so much for the great recap. I'm not sure why you call it a "minicap"--I think you've covered all the important stuff, and provided some useful vocabulary to boot. Muchas gracias.

I too don't know what to make of the Mystery Man on the beach. Since I have no idea what the actor who plays Griselda's missing husband looks like, I assumed that that's who Mystery Man was.

I was also unsure why Gabe and Paloma left him on the beach. That seems a bizarre thing to do to someone they've just rescued.

Am I the only one who is puzzled by Griselda's choice of a new house? I mean, it's understandable that she'd like a bigger and more attractive house than the one she currently has, but that decadently luxurious palace that she's bought seems very unlike her.

Does Ro live somewhere in TC's house, or does he just commute to it from somewhere else? If he lives there, I imagine he'll be less than pleased to find that TC plans to let Manuel live there, too. Frankly, I hope Manuel becomes violent with TC--it would serve her right for being so unconcerned about Celeste and Sol.

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Sue. I agree, this wasn't mini.

I agree that it makes no sense that Paloma and Gabe would just leave mystery man on the beach overnight. I do like the bizarre nature of how he dropped (literally) into the story and the mystery surrounding him.

Juanita- Gris's choice in homes only makes sense to serve the plot. Ro and Vanessa live in the same apartment complex as Celeste and Manuel, that's why he was able to fight Manuel off when he attacked Celeste.

Does Ivan have dating site profiles sent to his phone? Why would be need to be on a dating site when the women just seem to flock to him.

MARIDO

Ah, Sue, great recap. So glad you included Paloma's picture popping up on Ivan's phone. I'd forgotten that little detail. I think Ivan is getting his "flock" of women (thanks, Vivi) from dating sites and has his phone programmed to pick up new birds.

Juanita - "location, location, location!" Right across the street from TC (and Rei).

Amalia's picking up on Rafa's character - yes!

Beth

MARIDO

LOL! Yeah it was supposed to be a minicap and when I saw it was becoming long I forgot to delete that. It is shorter than what I used to do which was scene by scene which took too long.

I could write for example "Reinaldo and TC argue about TC bailing out Manuel," but that wouldn't show Reinaldo's disgust at his wife's plan or his compassion for Celeste.

Did anyone notice that after the body fell into the water he took a stroke and then went on to his back? I'm assuming he was supposed to be unconscious when he hit the water.

(I'm familiar with the actor who plays Elio from "Adrián Está de Visita," one of my all time favorite novelas. If you saw "Adrián" he played Christian, the gay son.)

SANTA

Does anyone know where I can get this magical telenovela powder? I haven't had a full night's sleep in weeks and that stuff looks great. Paula would be better at her venganza if she didn't have to gloat. Looks like Humberto caught her watching and this could be a problem, along with her interest in the driver (Toro). She gets annoyed at Santa for being distracted by Santi and here she looked happy to flirt with the guy. Focus, people!

MARIDO

Fashion Motors?? THAT'S the name of the shop? Doesn't seem very motorcycle-y macho.

I think the Griselda's house purchase comes from a temporary emotional state after TC harassed her at her own house. She bought it because she wants to show TC that she can and the crazy woman can suck it. She may realize later that this wasn't the best decision but she should enjoy it for now. Maybe she can get Ro to come over and help decorate (on a budget of course).

Kelly

Marido,

thanks so much Sue for the recap,

ah yes, how they wash dishes big time, they are put in trays that run through a washer, coming out the other side, now I remember, but I'm sure they had a big sink Tia and Mario could use, at least they didn't try to crawl out the bathroom window,

thanks for bringing up again that point on Rafa,
"why doesn't he just take Amalia to his place? Does he have a place?"

wow, a guy dropping out of the sky,
(did this happen in a movie somewhere, I seem to remember something)
Paloma and Gabe just leaving this half dead guy on the beach overnight was bizarre,
(of course he could pass for a hungover homeless leftover spring break guy)
and he can play volleyball ??
the beach bums, who play every day, really don't seem that good,

I really like Paloma, I'm not sure I like her being misrepresented,
this Diosa (goddess) is a strange character,
we really don't know who she is or what she is doing here,

I'm familiar with Lino Martone as a bodyguard on "Corazón Valiente",
a ponytail cop in "Mi Corazón Insiste"
and a mob guy in "El Fantasma de Elena".

DYO viernes, part 1/2

Thanks to everyone for understanding my flaky schedule. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's gonna get any better anytime soon, but I'll do the best I can to keep up! Just a reminder, I won't be able to recap Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday's episodes next week, but I'm hoping to be able to catch them sometime and offer some comments!

Here's yesterday's recap:

JM wants to talk to Isabel and Isabel’s mom (do we know her name yet???) about Angel and the attempted Robo. Mom uses the alibi Angel scripted for her as Isabel rolls her eyes in the background.

Sourpuss Marge throws her costurera sign in the garbage as she flashbacks to Merrinche #326 in which Mireya spurns her.

Mireya is throwing #327 about Neto not being able to follow through with “Operation Sacar Ignacia”. Neto is trying to bring her to the good guy side… he couldn’t do it because he couldn’t sink so low, and he knows that Mireya is a good person [deep, deep, deep down], but he couldn’t bring himself to kill someone. His pleas fall on deaf ears and M claims she never ever wants to see him again. Olegario is listening.

Estela isn’t feeling well, for real. She’s dizzy and tired and thinks it’s a punishment for everything she’s done (wow, she really got off easy). AA and Ruben are worried, and to calm her down, Ruben tells her that he did what she wanted… Lupita isn’t living with them anymore, and he did it all for her, Mother of the Year. AA can’t hold back and blurts, “Enough of this! You have to tell him the truth!”

Mireya wheels out and Oleg lets her go, staying behind to talk to Neto. “You were right,” he admits to Neto. “She is seriously f’ed up.”

Lupitas asking questions about Gina’s mysterious hijo.

Gema’s at a women’s shelter wanting to start from zero, and the lady who works there gives her a card for a place that might give her work.

Tomas interrupts Ignacia’s (who has thankfully rethought the Joan Collins hairdo) farewell speech to the obreros, saying she should postpone her goodbyes. In the obra office, he tells her she still has her job. She wants to know what made him change his mind, but he won’t tell.

Ruben is worried that the “truth” Abue is speaking of has something to do with Estela’s condition getting worse. Exasperated, Abue is on the brink of spilling the beans herself when Pedro walks in (interrupted reveal #103), announcing that he and Ignacia are novios. Estela objects. Strongly. She is escorted from the room by AA. Ruben expresses his apoyo for the new novios, thanking Pedro for making his sister so happy. Wow, has this kid changed or what??

Mireya has a choque with a toy truck and is tossed out of her chair. She gets up and stomps on the car, but sees Gina coming, so throws herself back down on the ground. Gina comes running and helps her up into her chair and Mireya shows her gratitude with a snotty attitude. Inside her casita, she declares herself an enemiga of all persons Perez.

DYO viernes, part 2/2

Gema follows the shelter lady’s card to a casino to look for work. Her new uniform is quite a step sideways from her uniform at the carwash. That is to say, almost the same but with a bow-tie and sequins.

Ruben thinks AA might know something about Estela’s condition, that it might be the “truth” she was talking about before they were so annoyingly interrupted. Meanwhile, Estela is being haunted in the living by Karina and shouts out, bringing R and AA running. “I can’t take the guilt!” she claims. “I don’t want to see Karina anymore!” and she runs up the stairs.

Olegario considers taking Mireya and going far away from Pedro to his sister’s in Corpus Christi. Neto doesn’t like the idea and doesn’t want to lose Mireya, but Oleg says he has no choice. Gina is listening and goes to confront Oleg, accusing him of not taking his relationship with Marge seriously enough. He thinks it might be good for Marge to get out of the neighborhood and come with them, and is pretty sure she would accept this proposition. (Have you MET Marge, Olegario?)

Tomas tells Persistent Vegetative Papa all about having to rehire Ignacia because of Gina’s threat to pull out her money. But he promises Papa that he will never let Iggy be with Pedro. Then there is a long look between the both of them as we see Papa blink.

Iggy breaks the news to Pedro that she has her job back, and she wants him to come back to work too. He gushes about how much he loves to work, no matter what the work is, and Iggy comments offhandedly “but you don’t want to be an obrero forever, right?” (anvil foreshadowing, nicely done, writers). He accepts his job back and invites her to dinner at Casa Perez. That should go well.

Mama de Angel is trying to convince herself that Angel is innocent, that he has changed. She’s feeling a little guilty for having lied to JM.

Ignacia is balking at dinner with the Perezes, she doesn’t want to cause more problems with his family, but he thinks they just need to get used to the idea that Iggy and Pedro are novios and they should confront this head-on. Plus, he already told Estela. Brilliant plan, genius.

Amy - You have out done yourself. Thank you for one of your best recaps ever. I'm still laughing over,

"Mireya is throwing #327 about Neto not being able to follow through with “Operation Sacar Ignacia”, and

"Gema's...new uniform is quite a step sideways from her uniform at the carwash...almost the same but with a bow-tie and sequins"

I'm so glad Neto and Oleg had that talk. Being the only one to know just how crazed Mireya is was too much for our little muchacho.

Is Gema now working at the same club where ED and Nomas hang out? It looked very similar to me.

Persistent Vegetative Papa (Love it!) blinked! I thought I was seeing things, but you saw it too. Now I wonder how "ill" PVP really is. Maybe he's not so vegetative as he is sedated and immobilized.

DyO,

thank you thank you thank you Amy,
I'll read your recaps at ANY time you post them,

so sorry you can't flip on this great show when you want,
(say, have you tried other places to see it (Adriana Noel seems to have a good connection), and I've heard that some tv shows can be seen real time on the internet, I don't have any facts though)

Isabel's mom is listed as Petra on wiki,
but I don't remember anyone calling her by name,

the red car crash was bad enough,
but nothing to compared to the stomping by the Mireyazilla monster,
I hope the little people got away,

I see that Tomas' dad (Ernesto Villamayor played by Osvaldo Strongoli) is a long time bit player for Telemundo, detective, priest, doctor, I could do this part.

Deb, you made me LOL @ "I hope the little people got away"... Mirezilla has a new nickname!! Along with Hurricane Mireya and Mocosa Mireya...

Just a couple observations, Beth I did notice that the casino looked similar to the strip club... I even thought that the card Shelter Lady gave Gema looked like the card for the "Gentleman's Club" Barbie gave Gema back at the car wash. But Shelter Lady was so kind and understanding and PSA-like that I found it hard to believe she would be on ED's payroll. Looks like she just might be... what women's shelter would recommend a shady casino as a place of employment for abused women? Not that all casinos are shady (I have very respectable friends that work in casinos), but this one sure seems like it, especially after seeing the "uniforms."

Also, why is Lupita so obsessed with Gina's past pregnancy? Doesn't seem like something that would interest her in the least, being so self-absorbed and all. But she sure is grabbing on to this like a pit bull.

I'm also fascinated by the fact Olegario is convinced that Marge would up and leave the barrio (and her beloved Pedro) to go with him to Corpus Christi. She's really not the adventurous risk-taking type. Oleg must be really confident in his animal magnetism.

SANTA:

Great recap, Deb, thanks!

I think the reason why Santa and Paula keep screwing up their revenge plans is because they're human. On the other hand, Humberto is inhuman, so he's doing just fine.

Santa clearly stopped before killing Gaspar. She was not going to do it. Santiago walked in after Santa had already stopped. Paula probably could have done it, of course.

I'm not so sure how much Santiago loves his mother. She loves him, of course. So why is Santiago backing Samanda in her plans for justice? I think he does want justice, at least against Humberto and Barbara. As for the others, he's probably hoping to eventually convince Santa to back off. In La Patrona, it was exactly the same. Gaby wanted revenge, Alejando (her boyfriend) was helping her, even though it was against his own family. But he was also sort of trying to get her to stop, at least against the family members who weren't so guilty.

MARIDO:

Thanks, Sue, excellent recap!

I think the lawyer say he could get Manuel "provisional freedom", so that if he does it again, he's in big trouble. Since TC will order him not to hit his wife, I guess we have nothing to worry about. Hmmmm.

Antonio is in med school, I wonder if we'll ever see him learning anything practical, such as with patients.

I love the mystery guy dropping out of the sky! But it might have been better if he were a gay mystery man, to help the other team. I know TC looks completely unathletic, but she is tall and thin, and I'd like to see her playing on Ro's team. When's the big match, by the way?

DyO

Amy, those were exactly my thoughts regarding Gema working at the casino/strip club (why would a shelter worker give Gema hiring info on a possibly shady business). But then I thought (1) that may be how ED recruits his "ladies" (getting poor, frightened women to work for fairly good wages and considerable degradation, and then generously donating to the shelter) and (2) the shelter woman may never get negative feedback from these women about the place. Also, it could be a completely different business.

Beth

GENERAL/SPOILERS

novelaman, I'm sorry but I had to delete your comment because it was a possible spoiler. Thanks for understanding.

MARIDO

Hombre, TC would never play volleyball. She could break a nail.
