TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of September 23
Is it just me or is this show cribbing a tiny bit from La casa de al lado...specifically, how nearly everybody needs to be slapped, punched, or outright shot (posthumously in at least one case). Particularly Patricio, Zod, and Bert in this case. Not sure why that bugs me so much, but it does.
That said, discounting Babs's tight pink dress and Ines' leg porn and George apparently finally getting a good murder attempt in on G-Cano in tonight's episode...it came out of nowhere, but Mara's fleeting sympathy for Hortensia once she saw THE VIDEO was a pleasant surprise. She and Arturo need to just flip everybody off and elope to Vegas. I'm assuming Marrero International Airport has nonstop flights.
Part 1
Gabe is upset to find Gris at the taco bar. She explains that she was only trying to help a friend, he sees this like a great offense, because there is nothing wrong than having the woman you love talk to you about friendship – he doesn’t want that, he wanted her love and she lied to him, tricked him into thinking they will get married.
Later on with Celeste, Gris explains how much she hurt Gabe and how sorry she feels. Celeste asks her if she really doesn’t love Gabe at all, not one bit. Gris says that no, she thinks not (thinks??).
At Palmer Gourmet, for the first time in history, everything is not going great (clients happy, restaurant completely booked, you know, the usual stuff), and that’s because Rei can’t stop thinking about what Gabe told him – Gris likes him, he should do something about it (think high school, but with mid 40’s people). Simon and the sous-chef girl (name?) wonder what is wrong with him, since he never burns stuff in the kitchen.
Barbie and Ken (aaa, I mean Max) fight because Max realizes that his wife is not willing to let go of Little Q. She says that she doesn’t even have money to pay the child’s school, so it’s better for him to be with his grandma, who has enough money to give him everything that he needs.
Amalia tells Q and Gris that Barbie is still around, she went to see Little Q at school; nobody is happy to hear this.
Still at the hospital, Jose receives Fernando’s visit – Fer calls Jose’s bluff and wants in on Gris’ fortune, thinking this is why Jose came back (he used to be a little kid when El Chino was still in the picture, but he was his right hand man or something and he’ sure Jose left with him). But Jose doesn’t care about Gris’ money, there is a treasure buried somewhere in the house and that’s why he came back; he doesn’t know if it’s jewelry, money or something else, though (someone on the board speculated a while back about a hidden fortune being the reason El Chino asked for the house to remain the same – Kudos! Great intuition!)
Fer wants 50% of whatever the fortune might be, but here comes Elio – he deserves a share, too, right? Right! They seal the deal on their future partnership.
Tony is trying to find out TC’s secret from Mario, but he won’t budge. Tony is sure Mario is fed up with Iris and he is willing to give Mario a lot of money if he tells him the secret. Mario knows Tony himself doesn’t have a dime, though – the fact that Tony would think that he can get money from Gris is laughable.
Anyway, Iris shows up and chases Tony away, especially after she finds out the not so nice words he said about her – basically, that she’s an old clown.
The volleyball team from the beach gets Gris as a sponsor for their game – she agrees to this only after she finds out that TC is sponsoring the other team – I guess that after buying a house just to spite her, this team sponsoring stuff is nothing.
(Side note: that’s the beauty of this tn – the anticipation of silly plots like this: the volleyball game, the condominium reunion etc)
On the beach Ivan kisses Paloma, she punch-slaps him (that’s how I call the slap that almost breaks the guy’s jaw). He seems pleased, thinks they are doing a great job keeping up with the appearances that they hate one another, she has no clue what he’s talking about.
Part 2
Ready for the barf inducing moment of the night now? Ok, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
After setting up her trap for Rafa and convincing the other employees to participate, Susana changes her mind because she gets acquainted with Rafa’s sweet love nectar (I know, I’m gross, but the scene was worse than I could ever get).
To be more clear: Leo tells Rafa what Susana is planning, Rafa calls her in the office, she tells him all that she plans to do, he starts seducing her (“What about Amalia?”, she asks. “I’ll take care of that later,” he explains, while he shuts the blinds). Susana doesn’t object at all (really, girl, not even for show?), so they go at it in the office, while Ivan is outside asking what is going on (the other employees called him while Susana and Rafa were enjoying their new found lust for one another).
I hoped they would get caught in the middle of it, but Rafa was very fast (hehe, it must be his great passion for Susana), because they managed to do the did, get dressed and be back outside just in time for Susana to tell Ivan some nonsense and get Rafa off the hook, with all the other employees watching in disbelief. Must be the power of love….
While Rafa is whoring himself out, his sweet novia, Amalia, is happily receiving her dad home. He pretends to want to move in the new house with the rest of the family, but there is no way Gris will ever accept that. So Jose can settle to living in the house they’re in now – the fortune house. Gris finally agrees to this, Jose can barely contain his triumphant smile.
Amalia escorts her dad outside and sees Rei, who is parked outside. She later tells Gris about it – she doesn’t know what to believe.
Hearing that Marcela moved out, Iris comes to TC’s house, all set to move in. Mario and Ro take her luggage upstairs, to the guest room, just in time to see JP NAKED, coming out of the shower and dripping water, with only a towel wrapped around his private parts.
(THANK YOU, SHOW! Really, thank you! My advice to Esther – forget about making them babies, there are much better things that you can occupy your time with; also, I have a new found respect for Marcela - just joking… barely.)
Mario quickly gets out, Ro has the same reaction I would have in his place – giggle, giggle, shake and tremble, he can barely contain his glee. Finally he gets out, too and I had to watch the scene two times, because I think the actor playing JP broke character during the scene, he was barely able to contain his laugh.
Iris is upset that she won’t be able to move in, TC happily explains that she’s helping her brother who has troubles in his marriage, but the whole scene is worth the viewing just to see Ro’s expression in the background – he’s on cloud nine, I guess we all know whose abs he’s dreaming tonight.
Gris, the kids and Jose share a meal together, while Paty is back at the posada taking a pregnancy test – and yes, it’s positive.
Rei contacted a famous psychiatrist and takes him home to TC. She’s not happy with the situation, but the fact that Gris calls Rei just in the middle of the conversation can only make things worse.
Bill, I think this tn is so much like La casa de al lado because the same writer penned them both - I'm sure I read this somewhere.
I'm also assuming that Marrero International Airport has non stop flights to anywhere and everywhere - tn rule.
But in order to elope, Arturo needs a divorce, first. Damn those technicalities :))
Thanks so much Adriana. And thank you for taking one for the team and describing that scene between Rafa and Susana. Blech! His slimeball status is firmly established now, if we weren’t certain before. How’s he going to juggle Susana now that she thinks he wants her to be his girlfriend, and intends to dump Amalia. He has no such intention, and doesn’t even like Susana. I find it interesting that he can make himself perform with these women he doesn’t like. This is the second time we’ve basically seen him prostitute himself to get what he wants. I wonder if that was his former profession?
We were right about the hidden treasure in Chino’s house. Good! Let Jose tear it apart and leave Gris alone, when she moves into her new home.
Elio slipped and called Jose papa in front of Amalia. He had to think fast to cover that up. How long before it comes out?
Great recap, Adriana. The JP (all wet with glistening abs) scene with Ro beaming his approval was the highlight of the evening. I don't know who was more fun to watch - gorgeous JP or gleeful Ro.
Does Gris' volleyball team have a name? I can't remember if they discussed that. Maybe they'll have AQUILAR printed across the backs of their trunks.
Since Fernando is in on Jose's hidden treasure deal, he'll keep Elio's paternity a secret - for a while. I'm still wondering where Chino is.
I can't wait to see the facial expressions when Gris' kids find out Elio is Jose's son.
Amazing! Susana IS hot for Rafa. And didn't she give him all the evidence she'd collected against him?
Pati has a tough road ahead of her. Being a young mother with a baby will be extremely difficult for a med student.
Beth
I've been lurking here for the longest enjoying the recaps and comments. But I finally had to come out. Susana getting "acquainted with Rafa's sweet love nectar" was truly "barf inducing." Lol!!! Adriana Noel, your recaps are golden.
Josie
Welcome to the group, Josie!
I'm glad you enjoy the recaps, we are a crazy bunch, but so far Marido proves to be more "normal" than your usual tn.
Imagine how I felt writing that stuff about Susana and Rafa...But my mind found no other way to put it... I must be sick or something... :)
Beth, there was some speculation among us that Susana might have a thing for Rafa, so the sex part didn't surprise me that much. What I found totally WOA! was how she didn't put up any kind of fight, you know, not to appear too needy or anything, and immediately after the 5 seconds of sex (how long are we expected to believe that Ivan stood outside, just waiting?) she just covered for him. Mirna gave up the big bucks for him, now Susana is giving up a better position with the company... Rafa must be quite the stud.
Vivi, Susana actually believing that Rafa would leave Amalia for her is beyond stupid - she's seen them together a million times and yet, all it takes for her to trust him is a quicky on the chair (not even the couch, that is destined for his official girlfriend).
No time for a recap, but I just watched last night's show, and it was a doozy! Among other things, we have:
-Santa realizes that every times she wakes up in the woods in her jammies, she had just drunk tea from Begonia. But Begonia tells her I never sent you tea. So they realize Bert must be drugging her. But they still think he doesn't know her secret. Maybe he's jealous of her and Santiago, they think.
-Patricio tries to rape Vicky on the kitchen table, and we never see what happens. But later, after her shower, he locks the door, she's in her robe, and he starts to rape her again, saying he's a much better lover than Ivan. I don't see how she could escape from this one.
-Ivan sneaks into Pat's room, recovers the cameo, finds Pat's license, he's from New Orleans, and he's going there to see what he can dig up.
-Arturo gives Elisa the only copy of the video of the black cop shooting drunk Felipe, Art's older brother. Elisa shows it to Mara, who's sympathetic to Art and even Hortensia, but Elisa wants to teach Horti a lesson. She says the black cop was fired, and that wasn't fair.
-Fran and Vicente DO drink the spiked champagne, and they DO keel over in pain. Once in the hospital, they can't deny their affair, painfully admitting it to Bert, Dani, Barb and Santi. Sam calls Paula to tell her the good news. Paula's worried about retribution from Ricardo, but Sam says he's not coming back. Ever. (since she saw him dead in the forest).
-A texas guy named Alexander Wayne (talking with a bad Spanish accent) tells Bert he has a business proposal. I'm thinking this could be another trap by Sam, or by Elisa. Maybe not. Anyway, Bert smells a rat, demurs, but George runs into the guy and wants in. Pronto, because the mob guy returns and he only has a few days left to get the money.
-George also stabs Gaspar with a needle of insulin or something like that, telling him he'll feel no pain, it'll be a pleasant dream. Bye bye!
Adriana - Yeah, Rafa the Stud must send off some powerful pheromones because the women he attracts can't seem to say 'wait', 'no' or 'give me a minute'. What bothered me the most about the quickie was that Oh!Susana! also gave up all the evidence, allowing Rafa to cover up his crimes and thus delay his karmageddon.

I must say that it would of been such good drama that if while Iggy was giving Tomas the divorce papers, Estella came down wearing the bed sheet the morning after doing the dirty with him. That place has really become a gross house of horrors.
-Angel got set up by his friend (with El Duro's approval). After giving Angel his share of the robbery money, he gets mugged and beaten on the way home. Gema fixes him up, but he makes her promise to not tell sis or mom.
-JM is still talking to his cop friend, trying to figure out about the tranquilizer potion(which he thinks that Tomas might be involved with) & if there is any news about the construction robbery.
-Mireya continues being her usual pissy self, and passes information to Tomas about the Rueben/Lupita wedding.
-Rueben/Lupita & Iggy/Pedro plus Neto find out that there was and is something between Mariano & Gina, and suspect he might be the father of the child she had.
-Nobody can get a hold of Olli, which does not bode well at all....
MARIDO
Thanks for the recap Adriana & I'm also waiting for the volleyball game. It seems like they're going to make it quite an event, should be fun to watch!
Also, well played by TC in out maneuvering Tia Iris. I thought that whole scene was hilarious!
Ay susana, what happened to your dignity.....
jlk
Wow! Hombre, thanks so much for the mini-cap. I completely missed the part about Begona and Sam discussing the tea and Bert being the culprit. These ladies continue to underestimate Bert, in spite of knowing he had Willy killed.
Vicky has become a tragic figure, victimized by both Carlos and now Patricio. I think that, unless she and Ivan get out of Marrero soon, she will be dead.
Beth
Thnks jlk for covering Monday night.
Tuesday was a whopping big episode, here are some highlights:
After delivering the divorce papers to Tomas, Ignacia tells Pedro they can live together, but they won't do it until after the Loopita/Ruben nuptials.
Marg lets her new "partner" Petra help with the sewing of Loopita's wedding gown. Petra makes a hash of it.
While Marg is dealing with that, Abue takes Marg's wallet and goes to the casino to win enough money to buy new dress material.
Neto follows Abue to see where she's going, bless his little chipmunk heart.
There are two security guards at the construction site plus a new "electrician", actually JM's pal the undercover cop.
Estela asks Tomas to help her prevent Ruben from marrying Loopita. When he resists, Estela twists his arm by mentioning his part in Karina's death. Smart move, Estela. Yep.
Oleg is still AWOL, uh-oh.
Loopita is excited about her bachelorette party, but Pedro and Marg are horrified that an innocent young (pregnant) girl would want to attend a crass event like that.
Meanwhile back at the House o' Horrors, Estela is preparing soup for Tomas. She empties ten or so little pills into a lukewarm bowl of broth, then stirs daintily. However, she stops Tomas right before he takes the first sip.
Undercover Cop tells JM they have been on the track of a "pez gordo" for awhile, they think he is connected with all the construction robberies. JM admits to his buddy that he is falling in love with Ignacia. Oh no! I thought he was still in mourning!
Meanwhile, Neto drags Abue home to the Perez house, where she admits to her grandchildren that she is addicted to gambling, and that's why Estela was able to blackmail her. All is forgiven, big hugs, etc, and Abue is invited back to the apartamento. However, she hasn't fessed up to stealing Marge's money.
Ruben tells Pedro that Mireya is seeing Tomas. Pedro rushes next door to confont Mireya.
End of episode.
By the way, AnotherAmy, Tomas was in shell pink sports coat tonight. Neto changed out his skull tee shirt for one with a stack of books printed on it.

Part 1
After TC insistently asks him to answer, Rei takes out his phone – his face lights up when he sees Gris is calling. He answers, apologizes for not being able to speak now and promises to call later.
So, yes, Pati is pregnant and not happy about it. She tries to tell Tony, but he’s not around, Daniel tells her he went to talk to his mother.
And what is Antonio doing at Gris’ at this late hour? Trying to convince her to hire Iris as an assistant – she’ll need someone to help her handle the big house. Of course what Tony wants is to have Iris close, find out TC’s secret. At first Gris doesn’t agree, but finally caves in and later calls Iris to ask for a meeting.
Iris and Mario are very happy that she’ll be able to steal Gris’ fortune. Also, Mario gives her the “great” idea to tell Tony what TC is hiding, this way Tony will start blackmailing TC and get her all rattled up.
TC and the shrink/ marriage counselor talk about the reasons TC is so upset: her daughter is involved with a bad man and the bad man’s mother is also trying to steal her husband. The doctor tends to understand TC’s reasons for worry (because TC can play a good “pretend to be sane”), but he’d like more details. He agrees to accept Rei and TC as clients and I still don’t know for sure of this is supposed to help TC’s craziness or the marriage, or both… What I can guess is that it won’t help at all.
While the doctor talks with TC, Rei daydreams about Gris some more and remembers Gabe’s words to him. Later on he has a talk with JP about TC agreeing to see a doctor, but I was basically focused on how hot JP looked, did I miss something important?
After the doctor leaves, Rei and TC end up fighting again, because she doesn’t believe him when he says that the phone call earlier was Simon, with work stuff and also, she thinks he’s disappointed that the doctor didn’t drag her out of the house kicking and screaming – their shouting is so loud, that Ro, Elsa and JP can hear them from the kitchen. Ro is still under the JP spell (who can judge him), throws several indirectas at his yummy gorgeousness.
Part 2
Jose can’t sleep on the sofa, so he decides to go spend the night in Gris’ bed, with her. She pretends to sleep, but finally attacks him with her all purpose wrench. He tries to seduce her, remind her of the good old days, she looks like she’ll fall for it, but then hits him in the head. He screams and runs, they start a chase around the room, Q and Amalia barge in, asking to know what is going on.
Jose says Gris was after him, Gris throws him out of the room and asks the kids to leave, too. The simple fact that he might touch her, gives her the heebie jeebies (and she’s not the only one with that feeling).
Gabe cries over Gris some more … FF…
Rafa explains Leo how he convinced Susana not to talk, and I can’t go back and watch that again to get the exact words, because my stomach can only take so much.
As TC convinces Rei to do the nasty in their bedroom, Marcela comes over, in search for JP – I assume she wants to do the same as TC. But Ro doesn’t let her in.
It’s morning and Tony goes to see what happened with Pati; he wants to talk about the plan he has with finding out what TC is hiding, but Pati has bigger worries – she’s pregnant! Tony’s reaction: you’re not keeping it, right?
Pati runs crying, straight to Rei’s arms. When he hears what happened he is very upset with her, but promises to help. They do have to tell TC the truth, tough. Pati doesn’t want to, but Rei reminds her that she can’t be an adult only when she feels like it.
TC wakes up in a good mood, she and JP are having breakfast together, while Ro is fawning over them. Vanesa calls to give him the news about Pati’s pregnancy (she was around when Pati told Rei). Ro faints, letting slip a plate with soup in TC’s lap.
TC screams, Ro is passed out on the floor, JP can’t understand all the madness (I wonder if after a couple of days with these people, he won’t reconsider Esther’s baby idea, nothing can be worst than his sister’s house; but I kind of like it that he’s there, a lot of crazy stuff is happening all the time and him playing it straight makes the scenes funnier.)
I lost the last 15 minutes of the show, if someone could add anything important that happened, that would be great.
Thanks for the great recap, Adriana!
There were things to hate and things to love in this episode, but the story is certainly moving along. The Rafa-Susana storyline is disgusting, but that's how it's intended to be, so I guess we can't complain. Tony managed to do two entirely different things that both made me want to strangle him, but that's how we're supposed to feel, I suppose. Words fail me to describe Jose in his tighty-whities, but at least we got the satisfaction of seeing Griselda bite him and hit him with her wrench.
On the more solidly good side, we got to see Ro and Elsa both make goo-goo-eyes at JP--I'm going to love these scenes. Also good was Ro's scene with Marcela--I'm guessing we all cheered when he refused to let her into the house, but it was adorable when they had their moment reminiscing about JP's assets.
And of course there's any scene with Reinaldo, and for the time being I'll settle for TC seducing him (if seducing is the right word for her approach). I'm even developing an affection for the campy TC-Reinaldo-romance musical theme. If only TC would just stay quiet (or speak in a normal tone) when she serves as proxy for at least part of the audience as she throws Reinaldo on the bed and unbuttons his shirt.
But even better was Rei with Patty. I love that when she arrives, obviously distraught, while he's talking with a customer, his first reaction is to embrace her and tell her that whatever it is, they're going to solve it. (I also liked him kicking Vanesa out of the conversation.) I like that he doesn't play silly games of hiding things from TC (aside from, well, you know), and behaves like a responsible parent.
Adriana, it looks to me like you only missed the last 6:41 of the show, but I'll summarize that in a short while if no one else does.
Yes, George does stab Gaspar with the hypo. And no one’s coming to help. Most of the family are at the hospital, where Fran and Vicente, in separate rooms, are enduring the criticism of all about their now public affair. Vicente admits to Pancho it’s been going on since before he was born. Fran admits to Bert it’s been going on a long time, but “it’s not easy living with your father.” Barb is livid. Santi is sad. Inés just keeps hoping this won’t upset her wedding plans!
George actually has some remorse, starting to cry, grabbing Gaspar, imploring him not to die. Too late. His eyes close, and that’s it. George swallows hard, and nervously exits the room. A few minutes later, Barb arrives, ready to tell her Daddy all about the affair. But where is he? Begoña is sent to check, and is shocked when he doesn’t wake up. She comes back out to give the sad news. Barb runs in, hugs Gaspar, weeping. She suspects George, but he acts befuddled (easy for him), and later when the doctora examines Gaspar, she says it was probably just a natural insulin jump, nothing to suggest any external cause (George sighs in relief). The doctora also privately tells Bert that Fran and Vicente may have been poisoned. Bert has had several shocks in this episode, having assured someone earlier that no way was Gaspar going to die. He immediately suspects Amanda of the poisoning. This game is more high stakes than he thought!
Samanda takes advantage of when everyone was at the hospital to meet with the Priest, and they go to the forest to look for Ricardo’s body. She finds the spot, but nothing is there. She tells the Priest, so it was all my imagination. He’s concerned, should she seek help? Sam replies she’s almost sure she was drugged, not crazy. The Priest has known the Cano family for years, they’d never-Thank you, Padre, Sam interjects. You’ve been helpful. Now the matter is over. I think Sam’s pretty sure (but not 100%) that yes, Ricardo is dead, and that Bert had him removed. But she knows the value of staying quiet.
She also is alone with Begoña at one point, wondering why Begoña was so hot for revenge when it was only her son-in-law who got killed. Begoña flashes back to Big Willy putting the moves on her. I have a feeling he did something with her, and she feels guilty about it, and angry at Willy for the advances. But she tells Sam nothing, just saying she wants to avenge her daughter and grandson.
We finally find out about Patricio! First, he doesn’t succeed in raping Vicky, because Carlos comes home early. Of course, Carlos doesn’t exactly catch them, and continues to believe Pat is the perfect man for his sister. Vicky continues to be horrified, but can’t reveal what’s been going on.
Iván has gone to New Orleans, checking out the address he found on Pat’s driver’s license the other day. He sees a modest house, and before he can enter, he’s accosted by a rough looking guy, what are you doing here? It turns out that Pat owes that guy money. What for? A black market in human organs, liked kidneys! The guy confirms that Pat’s a total liar, never donated any kidneys, he just buys and sells them! Iván starts talking street to impress the guy, saying, yeah, Man, he owes me money for computer parts, too.
But the real revelations come after the guy leaves, and Iván knocks on the door. He’s greeted by Pat’s aunt, and since Iván is so charming, they have a nice chat, in which it comes out that a) Pat’s mother committed suicide, that’s when he changed to be bad, b) Pat’s father was having an affair with some guy (that’s why the mother committed suicide), c) the guy’s last name was Colletti (Carlos and Vicky’s name!!), and d) Pat’s sworn revenge on the whole Colletti family! Iván goes to give the Aunt his contact info, and the cameo, which was in his pocket, comes out. The aunt’s eyes go wide. She recognizes it, that was something which belonged to Pat’s Mom! (Maybe Pat’s Mom gave it to her lover, the Colletti father, and he gave it to Vicky’s Mom, his lover). Wow!
Lucy is complaining about her job in the brothel, these girls are so lazy, they wouldn’t even leave the place to buy soap! Pancho realizes the girls are afraid, since they’re in a slavery ring.
Elisa goes to the police station, and finds that the black cop who shot Felipe, Horti’s son, whose name is Colin Phillips, is now a fireman. She tracks him down, approaches him, says I have someone I’d like you to meet.
Santiago asks Bert what’s in Gaspar’s Will. Bert apparently knows, and after accusing Santi of being a golddigger, says the Will will be read after the burial, and people will get “what they deserve”. Okaaaay.
Now that Gaspar is dead, Santiago has decided to move back into the mansion. Inés isn’t happy about THAT! And in a moment when Sam and Santi were together, she urged him to find out about Inés’ past, since she said she had been pregnant before. Santi doesn’t think much of this, except that when Inés knocks over some magazines in one of her hissy fits, Santi picks up a picture. Who’s this guy? Oh, nobody, says Inés. (It’s Willy!!)
Part 3
Ro is waking up, after spilling the creamiest yellowest gazpacho I've ever seen. TC, of course, is still squealing over her supposedly ruined dress and threatening to kill Ro, while JP asks if Ro normally goes around fainting. Ro mutters, "Grandmother, grandmother, no. No puede ser, no," as he continues to fall off the chair where a helpful Elsa and JP have set him, but no one seems to notice his words.
TC marches off, ranting about dry-cleaners and Ro having to pay and her smelling like soup, as Ro collects himself. He tells Elsa and JP to steel themselves, that there's going to be a desgracia, that it'll going to be worse than the seven plagues of Egypt. Strauss's Also Spracht Zarathustra swells in the background as Ro takes advantage of the occasion to pull JP into an embrace.
Meanwhile Rei and Patty are debating the "tell TC" issue. Rei says the best-case scenario is that she'll set fire to the house, but Patty predicts that she'll level the entire neighborhood. He points out that Patty can't avoid telling her forever, and reminds her that she can't be adult for some thing and a child for others, that she has to accept the consequences of her acts.
It's clear from what Tony is saying to his friend at the posada that he will be blaming the pregnancy on Patty: "If both partners are careful, it doesn't happen."
Jose comes into Griselda's kitchen, hoping for breakfast, but she tells him he'll get leftovers after her children, if anything. They do another postmortem on their marriage, her pointing out he was drunk all the time, him blaming it on alcoholism as a disease. When he says everyone is right, that she's turned into a "machorra," it seems that he must have touched a nerve, because this is when she threatens him physically again. (But her threats against him have happen at least once every scene between them, so maybe this means nothing.)
Back at the Palmer-Ibarra homestead, Ro is still predicting the apocalypse, while Elsa and JP are trying to figure out what the deal is. (Can we get a sit-com spin-off, where Ro, Elsa, and JP live in an apartment together and hi-jinks ensue?) Ro wanders off, saying that the queen of Nile is danger and must be saved. (I'm as puzzled by this as are Elsa and JP. Ro's attitude towards TC is one of the more bizarre elements here. Talk about internalizing your servitude.)
While TC, having changed into a clean blue dress, rants in her dressing room about how Ro will have to pay her first-class airfare to Paris so she can buy herself a new dress, he brings her a glass of water to calm herself. (Are we to assume he spiked it with a tranquilizer?)
The episode ends as Rei and Patty arrive back at the house. From the fact that JP greets them calmly, rather than noticing the serious expressions on their faces and bolting for the front door, we gather that he has learned nothing thus far from his short stay at the Palmer-Ibarra abode.
I meant to write that Ro was saying that the queen of the Nile was IN danger. That was what was puzzling. Everyone knows that TC herself is danger.
Okay, I got the Pat thing all mixed up in my recap. I meant Pat's mother committed suicide, because Pat's father had an affair with some WOMAN (Vicky's Mom), the WOMAN was named Colletti. And that means that the cameo, which belonged to Pat's Mom, was taken by Pat's Dad, and given to Vicky's Mom. Hope I got it right NOW!
Thanks for the super recap, Hombre.
So long Gaspar, we hardly knew ya!!
How incredibly convenient that Ivan finds all these chatty people in New Orleans so that he can get all this information about Patricio.
Vicky is losing all her "good" tenants - first Ivan and now Santi.
Has Santi ever seen a pic of big Willy? If not, he will certainly see one soon.
I wonder what Bert did with Ricardo's body. I was pretty sure that he was going to frame Samanda for murder with it and I guess that he still could.
Concerning Monday's episode, if Begona didn't make the tea for Samanda, are we to assume that Bert went to the kitchen and boiled water himself to make tea? Wouldn't it have been easier and less suspicious to order tea from Begonia and then to just put some of the magic TN powder into it before he have it to Samanda? Of course, if he had done that, Samanda would never have figured out that Bert was drugging her.
Thanks, Adriana (and Utah) for the recaps! Adriana, I love how you see this show as mainly revolving around JP's body (something many of the females on this board would probably like to do :)
How in the WORLD is Tony ever going to be redeemed? He is so bad, from his dishonest get rich schemes, to lack of responsibility about the baby, I certainly wouldn't fault Pati if she dropped him.
I laughed out loud when Ro fainted and TC only cared about the soup on her dress!
I think Pati's knows she's pregnant about two hours, and half the cast (most of the people in the posada) already know.
Gris is tough and smart, but she can be talked into things, such as a) she agreed to let Tony come back, b) she agreed to maybe have Iris as an assistant, c) she agreed Jose can stay in her house, d) she agreed to give Barb $5 million. The only thing she didn't agree to was Gabe (which is the most important of all). She says Celeste has a good heart, is too trusting, but for all of Gris's bluster, she's a bit too trusting, too. But maybe this good heart is part of what attracts Rei to her.
Jean, I agree, Santi probably hasn't seen a pic of Willy, but will soon.
I also agree Bert probably has Ric's body somewhere, and may still try to frame Samanda.
As for the tea, each time, Bert had told Sam, Begonia sent you tea. So even if Sam asked her Mom about that, Begonia could say, well, each time, Bert asked me to make you tea. That would still be suspicious. But you're right, the main reason they did it this way is so that Sam would find out she was drugged.
Santa,
thanks so much Hombre,
and for the short one on Mondays show as well,
I see Vicente and Francisca weren't sharing a room at the hospital, but got the usual beat down by all as long as they were trapped there, loved it the other day when Ines was afraid to go see her father and leave Santiago and Santa alone in the waiting room, and as soon as she left, click, the magnets came together,
I think I got this right, but Santa has not revealed Ricardo's death to anyone except the Padre, right?
Ivan's investigation has me confused, first, he visits an older house, Pat's, but doesn't go in and meets the bad guy, then he shows up at another house, with a nice picket fence and meets the aunt,
what I did get was that the Cameo is unique and was owned by both Pat's mother and Victoria's mother, (do we know they are not the same), and that Patricio has vowed revenge on the whole Coletti family.
ah, thanks Hombre for sorting out some of the Vidal/Coletti stuff, (had me going with Pat's father having an affair with Victoria's father) but there still seems to be a lot of questions, like what did happen to Victoria's mother and father, and why is Carlos the way he is, (or like why did Victoria's mom have the Cameo and why did she give it to Victoria)
I was starting to wonder where Santiago was staying, as he moved all of his stuff out of Victoria's house, and put it in his truck, which he had parked for the get away, and we haven't seen it since, Ines wanted him to stay with her but we didn't see how that worked out,
I think Santiago saw a pic of Willy when he was looking through the case file that Paula had.
Hombre, thanks for great recap. What an eventful episode. So much happened and you covered it all.
Interesting that both Bert and Pancho zeroed in on Vicente, asking him several times, "What else are you hiding from me?" I thought Vin's responses and facial expressions made him look guilty during both confrontations.
If Bert investigates just a bit, he'll find out that Sam was with the padre when Vin and Fran were poisoned. And that should tell Bert that someone else is after the Canos.
For me the Sam-Santi relationship is the least interesting part of this story. I think they are the most boring, wooden protagonists I've seen in a tn so far. And they have no chemistry. Every other storyline and character is much more intriguing or entertaining.
Poor Gaspar. I was hoping someone would call 911 and he'd be saved. But I guess we do need to move on to the WILL and whatever revelations are in it. Could it be that George outfoxed himself and will have no more money today than he did yesterday?
Could Pat's father also be Vicky's or Carlos' father?
Pat's pretty smart and has obviously been planning his venganza for quite a while. Somehow he was able to learn of Carlos' kidney problems and use that info to find the Collettis. He must be searching the house for legal documents.
Beth
Marido,
thanks so much Adriana for the recap,
and UtahDesert for the addendum.
I got lost in the Iris revelations because it didn't click who doctorcito was, but weren't they baiting him, and not quite sure why anyone would hire Iris, is she going to oversee the other servants, maybe stock the pantry with caviar and champagne, but I guess the selling point was that Iris also dislikes TC.
and I would think that Jose has made a full recovery, which ends his stay.
I'm thinking Jose is just pulling everyone's leg with the Chino treasure story, it couldn't possibly be worth more than Griselda's $50 million.
when they move I would leave the old house to Antonio.
I wouldn't think any evidence would be needed against Rafa, just tell Ivan what is going on and he would get it.
Deb, I thought Ivan went into the same house, maybe viewed from another angle, but I could be wrong.
You're right, Santa has not revealed Ricardo's death to anyone besides the Padre. And even with him, she didn't say who the dead man was. And she's acted as if it was all her imagination, since no body was there. She did tell Paula not to worry about Ricardo anymore "he won't be bothering you", but didn't tell her why.
Adriana and Utah - thank you! Adriana, you always do such wonderful recaps, and, Utah, thanks for putting together a great part 3.
I do enjoy the slapstick quality of this show. The soup scene was inspired. JP plays a wonderful straight man for Ro, Elsa and TC.
I think Ro meant that TC is in grave danger of completely losing her mind and doing something violent when she finds out her daughter is pregnant by Tony. Also, TC does not see herself as a grandmother.
I'm sure Gris will take the baby news in stride and be thankful that Pati will be a more caring, attentive mother than Barbie.
Susana certainly showed her true colors when she blew off her coworker's concerns about Rafa's illegal activities.
I love the mischievous, fun theme music for Jose's antics.
Beth
thanks jlk for Monday,
and thanks J in Oregon for last night!
I'm beginning to think this novela would be a good one to just wrap up and move on.
we are way past the point of Pedro finding out about his true parents, but then again I can't really see Pedro, Gina and Mariano as a family.
I hope Olegario is still with us, darn casino anyway,
it's starting to look like all of the plots are hinging on the Loopita/Ru-ben wedding, so this isn't looking good for them, and have Loopita and Ru-ben ever had a conversation when they agree on anything?
will Angel ever find his other glove?
always fun to watch Neto going undercover, he flips up his hood and is off.
so Abuela is a thief, couldn't she have asked Gina for some money, she should learn from Ru-ben and steal from Tomas.
poor poor Invis-abel, she quietly sits and watches JM do his confusion twirls through the reception area, and watches the steely eyed boss Tomas, meet with yet another intriguing character, "I'm not to be interrupted".
Thanks, J in O, for the mini-cap. The story seems to have picked up lately and is moving along.
Neto is such a busybody - he has his nose in everything. But he did blow AA's cover, which led to her moving back to the apartment.
How will AA get that wallet back to Marge - with cash in it?
That undercover officer is hunky. Maybe he'll arrest ED and become Gema's new bf.
Gina's Pedro-secret needs to come out soon. It's losing significance and not adding much to the story.
Where's Oleg? Looking for work or running away - or both?
Beth
so as Begona's flashbacks indicate, maybe Willy wasn't the guy Santa thought he was, so what does this do for Santa's revenge,
and Humberto, always stumbling around his obsession for Santa, will probably up the ante with his father's death and the Vicente/Francisca poisoning,
curious that Santiago has asked about the will so soon, but he really should get a copy so that nothing can be changed, since he has a sense of what Humberto is capable of,
Lisette too has locked into the will, Ivan and the inheritance,
and Begona has told Santa, time for phase 2.
Not sure how many people know this, but Ximena Duque and Carlos Ponce have been having an on and off relationship. He first dumped her because he was jealous of her love scenes Fabian Rios in CV! They hooked up again in August.
BillC you say you get a LCDAL vibe from this. Tbh Ines makes me think of what Carola Conde wouldve been if her dad spoiled her and not Ignacia.
Thank you for the comments regarding the two Barbaras Beth.
Forgot to mention that Alexander Wayne is played by Jimmy Bernal (Lucas in MSED). Many may remember him as the macho abusive drug lord father in RP.
Question - NovelaM: What does LCDAL mean? Sorry to be dense..
For the life of me I cannot make sense of the implied Begona / Willie connection. Did anyone understand exactly what he said to her when he was touching her? I missed that. Makes no sense at the moment. Twin Willies, maybe.
I still think the lovechild may be Santi - Bert, once again, made a comment to Santi about being Fran's favorite child. Makes him "different" - unless he is the ONLY one that is Gaspar and Frans child (jkg - I think there is a song along this theme "el unico tuyo").
I agree that the Willie/Begona thing is really weird. My recollection of what Willie told Begona in the flashback is that his wife and child were asleep upstairs and something else that I can't quite remember, like, "it's time..." or "I want..."
I forgot about this: I'm pretty sure Fran & Vicente made their toast of poisoned champagne to "nuestros hijos." That would mean they had more than one child together!!
Gracias a Dios for the recappers, I would miss so much w/o them. Tks Hombre.
Carlos is weird with his sister Victoria, too possessive for a bro. Why is he impotent? Sth with his mom & Pat's dad?
Ivan is smart, Humberto is smart, can't say much about the rest.
QEPD Gaspar. Bet there is plenty about him we don't know, but he seemed a decent man. I am certain he made sure George didn't get a penny of inheritance.
Tia Iris and her boy toy are in for a big surprise if they think they can steal Gris' money. I can just imagine Gris putting them in their place.
I love Gris and Rei together but am disappointed with their lack of scenes together. When is Rei gonna finally leave that whack job so we can finally witness that long awaited first kiss with Gris.
Josie
Willy and Begona flashback - What I thought I saw was Willy saying/asking Begona, "Do you really want to go" as he stroked her shoulder. And then the flashback ended leaving the impression that the two of them started an affair. Whether or not they had sex or an affair, Willy is not the sweet, wonderful husband and father Santa remembers. But Begona doesn't want Santa to know.
Beth
Beth, yes Neto is so funny when he goes "Undercover Chipmunk"!
I can't recall name of JM's friend, the hunky undercover cop, but the actor played a "dirty" cop in Corazon Valiente, and the "Gema" actress played a good cop.
Abue gambled away all Marg's money! Marg doesn't know yet.
Also...Oleg is mysteriously still missing, my radar tells me something bad has happened to him.

Wednesday Recap
-Turns out that Ro did spike TC’s water and she’s going to be out for hours. Rei is majorly ticked off at Ro for taking it upon himself to do this. There is a big fight in the Ibarra-Palmer household about Pati’s pregnancy and how it will affect TC between Rei, Ro, Pati, and JP. Basically, Ro defends TC. Says she is a good, honest woman. (Seriously?!) He blames Pati for upsetting TC with her relationship with Tony, and now getting pregnant. (Not sure if he’s suggesting that Pati abort the baby and pretend it never happened just to keep TC sane/happy.) SHUT UP RO!
-Ro also throws out numerous accusations at Rei about being more concerned about Gris than about TC and her well-being. Rei looks like he’s seriously considering smacking Ro. He DOES punch Tony in the jaw and roughs him up when he comes to the house demanding to speak to Pati, but still making it all about ruining HIS life if she has the baby. Pati sticks to her guns about keeping HER baby, and refuses to talk to Tony. Rei reminds Tony that the baby he wants to get rid of is also his grandchild. He tells Tony that Gris is right about him, and demands that for once in his life, Tony think about someone beside himself. He kicks the jerk out.
-Paloma tells Gris about the pregnancy. Gris reacts very calmly to the news. By the time she was Pati’s age, she had two kids. She doesn’t understand the false morality of today and why people overreact and make it a scandal and the end of the world. Years ago when this happened, people would congratulate the couple and simply ask when they’re getting married. Life went on.
-Both Paloma and Gris are worried that TC is capable of hunting Tony down and shooting him.
-In their bedroom with a sleeping TC, Rei remembers when he supported Pati moving out against TC’s wishes, and looks at a picture of him with little Pati (a real pic of Juan Soler and one of his daughters), and thinks he was wrong to support Pati’s decision. (No! You were right Rei!)
-The next day is the volleyball competition day! But the other drama is overshadowing what should be a fun event.
-Amalia is whiney and pouty because Gris hates Jose and treats him like the second class citizen he is. SHUT UP AMALIA! Even Rafa’s kisses can’t cheer her up. Susana pressures Rafa to break up with Amalia. (Yeah, right!) He strings her along.
-TC wakes up finally and runs into Elsa taking breakfast to Pati’s room. At first she thinks she’s won, hearing that Pati is back home. Then she wonders why Pati is having such a big breakfast, when she usually eats light. Elsa accidently lets slip that Pati is eating for two now. Ooops!
-TC doesn’t immediately explode. She takes the tray, saying she’ll serve Pati, and thinks evil thoughts. A bit later, she enters Pati’s room with a covered tray, all false sweetness and light. Rei is already there hugging Pati and telling her he’ll support whatever decision she makes. Pati uncovers the plate and finds a HUGE dead white RAT on top of a bed of greens. She freaks out. TC laughs her crazy evil laugh. She says she will NEVER permit Pati to have that baby!
-The argument escalates. TC basically says that Pati will be so poor that she will be eating rats if she has the baby and unites with that family. Pati is DEAD to her if she has the baby. Rei tells her this isn’t the mafia, this is a family. TC thinks this was all a plan by Gris and her family. Pati says she will be a better mother than TC was. TC says it won’t be long before Pati’s and Tony’s love grows cold, and points to JP and Ester as examples. Pati counters then it won’t be too long before my dad leaves you then. (Ojalá) Score 1 Pati.
Wednesday Recap Part 2
-TC says she and Rei are different. Pati points to the similarities in Pati and Tony’s love story, and TC and Rei’s love story. (Rei does not like being compared to that jerk.) TC had money, Rei didn’t. TC points out that although Rei’s family had recently lost their money when Rei’s dad died, they were a prestigious family with class, breeding, education, and French roots. Rei gets to the real matter—he never lied to TC about who he was, and was a responsible father and husband. Things they can’t say about Tony. TC says some wise words: Tony’s actions speak to his (bad) character, and a person’s character never changes. Pati counters that this means TC’s character will also never change. Her first priority will always be status, image, and what other people think. Score 2 Pati.
-TC tells Pati she can never come to this house with her child. That child will never be welcomed there. Pati is ready to get the heck out now, and never look back, but Rei begs her to calm down and stay. He follows TC into their bedroom to continue the argument. He tells her she’s gone too far; their daughter needs their support right now; why can’t she be a friend to Pati? TC isn’t listening. She blames Rei and Gris for everything that’s happened. Rei says he now sees the similarities between TC and Tony (she’s offended), and tells her that Tony also wants Pati to get rid of the baby (TC applauds). Rei puts his foot down. If Pati is kicked out of this house, he’s going with her, and he’s never looking back!
-Sol ticks off her dad-manager Manuel by suddenly having a bout of stage fright when she’s supposed to be performing at the volleyball competition. She’s never performed in front of this many people before. Her Madrina Gris takes her aside for a pep talk. Further delaying the volleyball fun is the fact that Ro has not yet arrived. He’s too busy first eavesdropping with Elsa on TC, Pati and Rei as they argue; and then stuck when TC forces him to stay and listen to her and Rei argue.
-Funny moments: Elsa putting JP’s keys on the far side of the table so that she and Ro can watch him bend over. Jose walking around in his tighty whities, scratching himself, and bending over as he looks in the fridge. Partly distracting because Miguel Varoni has quite a package.
-Other news: Celeste likes the new Manuel and they get busy. Blech!
Yes, Santiago is going to live at the mansion. He has to support his Mom now that she’s alone, right? Inés pitches her usual fit, But Pancho and Vicente drag her back to her own house. Privately, Fran asks Santi if he can resist Samanda, living under the same roof, since he admitted to Fran that he loves Sam. Santi says he knows Sam is married to his brother (good evasive answer, Santi!).
Elisa tells Colin Phillips that she wants to clear his name, sullied by Hortensia. I think he’ll go along with her plan.
Lots of people get the news, and are coming to the funeral. Outside the church, there are a few tense moments. Mara shows up, and of course Horti is incensed. Iván finds out from Lisette, and comes. He wants to tell Vicky what he found out about Pat. But he never gets the chance, despite trying several times. Pat is always there, putting his big strong arms around quivering Vicky. Lisette lays a big wet kiss on Bert inside the church, much to the Padre’s dismay (he’s the only one who sees them). Dani is mad at her Mom Barb, who only thinks about Barb’s own pain. Dani is despondent, her abuelo Gaspar was the only one who cared about her. She sits next to Iván in the church. She breaks down, he takes her home, and gently tells her at least she has one friend - him.
The Padre asks Pancho if the police found any body in the forest. Nope. Pancho wants to find out what prompted this, but the Padre says it’s privileged through confession. He later tells Sam no body was found. But, he asks, who was the body you thought you saw? Thank you, Padre, says Sam, and leaves. She later tells Paula what happened. Paula is still scared Ricardo might be alive, although Sam thinks (but isn’t sure) that he’s dead. They can’t explain the absence of the body. Paula also messed up outside the church, coming to pay her respects, she was seen by Barb, who said I recognize you. Paula says, well, I’m the secretary at the law firm. No, says Barb, you were in that house owned by Santa Martinez! Paula says no, never heard of her, but the damage may be done. Samanda tells Paula it’s time for the final phase - to bring the Cano family to financial ruin. Paula is supposed to do this today!
The Cano family is headed that way (to ruin), as Vicente tells Bert the law firm may have to close. First, they lost that big case. Then, Bert screwed up with the press conference, his combative tone turning off clients. Now that Gaspar is dead, a number of clients who were hanging on just because of Gaspar’s reputation are also leaving. If “one more thing” happens, it’s curtains.
Carlos goes to the Trebol de Oro, and tells Lucy she shouldn’t be working there. Lucy later goes to the church, Pancho is happy she’s paying her respects. Lucy tells him that when Carlos entered the brothel, all the girls were scared to death. Pancho is surprised by this, maybe some gears are turning.
Here’s my take on Begoña. I think she was IN LOVE with Willy, even though it was somewhat shameful. But since her amante was killed, that’s why she wants revenge.
Carlos overhears Mara talking about Gaspar on the phone, and the fact that she’ll go to the funeral. Later, she comes back to the café to close up. She locks the doors, but here’s a noise. A hooded figure bursts out, and starts to rape her!
Fran is so destroyed by the loss of her beloved husband. She cries over the empty room and bed they shared in the house. She hugs little Guillermo (willy), he’s the only person she has left, she won’t let him away from her side for a minute (much to Santi, Sam and Begoña’s consternation). At the church, she weeps over the coffin for a long, long time.
So it’s time to read the Will. Lisette is hoping for a payday for Iván. We know George is interested (although he walked out of the funeral, I guess to avoid more arguments with Barb, who still thinks he killed Gaspar). The family is gathered around as Vicente reads the Will. It’s fairly short and sweet. I, Gaspar Cano, in full command of my faculties, name as my sole beneficiaries of my entire estate, my 3 children, Humberto, Bárbara and Santiago. What about me? Says Fran. To my wife, I give NOTHING, since for 40 years, she cheated on me with my best friend, Vicente Robles!!!!!
Great recap, Vivi! You covered everything beautifully, and with excellent observations.
At this point, it's ridiculous to even think about an abortion, with everybody advised of the pregnancy. If Pati had told only Tony, it might have been possible. Of course, he should have supported her from the start, but thought only of himself. I also don't think Pati necessarily has to marry Tony, they could split up and she could be a single mother (I doubt that'll happen, of course). I don't think Gris's ideas that it's no biggie are 100% right. She certainly never went to college, possibly because of her early pregnancies, and one can't say that was totally good.
But it's good that Rei is getting more and more opportunities to clarify his feelings about TC, so he'll be able to leave her.
I'm not sure who we're supposed to root for in the volleyball game. The macho guys have the uniforms from Gris, but aren't we supposed to like the gay guys? I guess it's all in fun. Hopefully Sol will calm down and get over her stage fright. I still want to see Maritza Rodriguez in a beach bikini playing volleyball, but I know it's unlikely. Sonya Smith, too! (dream on, Hombre).
Thank you for the recap, Vivi, I didn't get to watch today, yet. It looks like quite a lot of fighting happened. I hope Rei does leave with Pati and we finally get to see him and Gris get together in some shape or form.
I loved the funny moments the best, just for that I need to watch this episode pronto!
MARIDO:
I also think Gris was over-simplifying the situation a bit. But I got her point. If when a young unmarried couple or woman got pregnant un-expectantly, everyone kept their cool and just supported the couple or woman/girl, then they could calmly get on with things.
The fact that Pati and Tony have access to money and supportive friends and family around means that she /they could make this work. It won't be easy. But with support, the worst case scenario is that single mom Pati takes a semester to a year off of college when she's too far along and wants to be with the baby the first months. Grandparents Rei and Gris can help, as well as the numerous aunts and uncles among family and friends. Gris or Rei can hire a nanny for when Pati is at school or needs to study.
Things were definitely harder for someone like Gris who was a teenager, poor, lacked education, and was an immigrant who didn't speak English. Her only real option was to marry Jose at the time. But even she was able to build a business and raise three kids on her own when her husband disappeared. Her can-do attitude is understandable because of the kind of person she is.
Excellent recap, as always, Hombre.
So I think George might have killed Gaspar for nothing since I can't see Barbara giving him any money but maybe he thinks it would be easier to get $$ from her than from Gaspar.
So wily old Gaspar knew about his wife and Vicente all along. But presumably he didn't know about Vicente fathering children on Babs unless:
1. he knew but said child or children were not passed off as his; or
2. he knew but didn't care that he was raising Vicente's child or children.
Thanks very much, Vivi, for the wonderful recap. I was surprised at Gris's claim that years ago, an unmarried girl becoming pregnant was no big deal. That sure wasn't true when I was growing up!
Since I am still hoping that Pati and Tony do not wind up together, I was pleased that his response to her pregnancy was all about the difficulties it would cause him. Somehow, though, I still fear that the writers have destined Pati and Tony to Live Happily Ever After. Arrgh.
TC is certainly helping to move the plot along. Between her not wanting Pati to have the baby and her saying that the baby would not be welcome in her house, she's giving Rei additional motivation to leave her (of course, any normal person would have left her long ago).
Santa,
thanks so much Hombre!
it was an interesting scene when Santa got Pancho alone and asked him,
has Ines been pregnant before?
no, definitely no, Pancho says, so he is obviously not a part of all of that,
and did Santa almost smile (like Humberto does) at his confusion,
she has this look sometimes where she thinks she is so smart and in control.
that was some viewing/funeral, quite amazing how they put that all together, showing each individual's take on things, and a distinct lack of dark glasses.
I don't remember Barbara ever seeing Paula at G-Cano, so I think Paula really messed up by making that connection for her, but maybe Barbara has other concerns for now,
was that all of the will, I was thinking there might be more but Francisca grabbed it away, it's hard to read Humberto but I'm wondering if he wrote it, (either way he would have known what it said) nice touch having Vicente read it, but on the other hand, Gaspar was no dummy, but his family sure was bringing him home to his killer.
so Humberto will have to wrangle back Santa's share that she gets through their marriage,
George will be working on getting a cut from his wife who thinks he killed her father,
and Santiago now has an equal share, in the family business,
Carlos has to go,
and Patricio as well.
I think George's main motive for killing Gaspar was to hide the fact that he was responsible for putting Gaspar in that wheel chair, although it was originally for the money.
Many thanks, Hombre, for yet another superb recap. I find the Begoña/Willy subplot rather bizarre. It surely doesn't speak will of either Willy or Begoña. What sort of mother would permit a relationship with the husband of the daughter she loves? And although Willy may be a mujeriego, I find it hard to believe that he'd be attracted to Begoña.
I don't think it was wise of Ivan to announce to Patricio that he knows who Patricio really is, etc. I fear that Ivan has just painted a target on his back.
I wonder when Barbara will start missing her jewels that George gave to his debt collector?
That will seems a little fishy IMO - the language is uses to cut Fran out doesn't sound like Gaspar. I wonder who might have tampered with it?
If Pati stays in the house, I wouldn't put it past TC to push her down the stairs to provoke a miscarriage. Pati should leave, even if Rei's threat to leave with Pati convinces TC to pretend like she's ok with the pregnancy.
I’m back from Spain. And totally bogged down in work projects that somehow did not magically get finished while I was gone!
I flew into Madrid. Spent 3 days there. Highlights were, of course, the Prado and the Palacio Real. Madrid is a very large city, but very walkable.
I moved on to Córdoba in Andalucía. I had purchased a Spanish rail pass so moved between cities by train. Córdoba is a magical place, and the most magical place within it is the Mesquita, these days being called the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. It was the most famous mosque in the world during the Moorish occupation of the area. After the Reconquista in 1236, the victorious Christians just built their church inside the existing mosque. I visited for the night tour with music and candles. Fabulous.
I went from Córdoba to Sevilla. I think this was my favorite place. It’s a good sized city, 700K population, but the people are SO friendly. I visited two quite interesting museums there: the Museum at the Bullring and the Museum of Flamenco Dance. Both of these were exceptional. I saw some flamenco in a little bar near my hotel, but I also saw a much more upscale performance at the Museum.
And then I went to Granada. Granada is a surprisingly large city – approx. 200K population. Again, the people are warm and wonderful. I dropped in there without reservations – as I do everywhere – and the guy at a totally booked hotel spent an hour on the internet finding me a place to stay! The Alhambra was absolutely fabulous. I took so many pictures there that I’m surprised the camera didn’t catch fire.
I had to backtrack to Sevilla in order to get a train to Barcelona at a respectable hour. The AVE fast train is wonderful. I got from Sevilla to Barcelona in about 3 hours.
Barcelona had the most perfect climate! And, speaking as a Californian, that’s saying something! It’s high enough not to be hot. It’s beside the Mediterranean, so you get cool breezes. And – Gaudí! La Sagrada Familia cathedral is beyond amazing. The architecture is exquisite. It’s unfinished, of course, and I told some people I met that I was planning to return in 2026 when it’s all done!
Anyway, wonderful trip. I saw a couple of episodes of Dama y Obrero and one of Marido en Alquiler and was able to gather much of what happened while I was gone. I think I’m going to pass on Santa Diabla.
Another good episode. Como diría Ignacia: "A ver, a ver, a ver."
Pedro accuses Mireya of developing an alliance with Tomás just to spite him and Ignacia. Mireya denies this. She's a free woman and can see whoever she wants. Pedro tries to warn her that Tomás is bad news.
Estela denies that she would ever hurt Tomás in spite of putting something in his soup. She says he's the only one who has ever believed in her and has never abandoned her. BARF!
Abuela thanks Marge for her hospitality and generosity. Of course, Marge doesn't know that Abuela stole her wallet.
Ignacia interrupts the convo between Pedro and Mireya who implies something was going on between her and Pedro. Ignacia puts on a brave face and says she trusts him. Later Ignacia asks why Pedro was there. He doesn't tell her about Tomás. They discuss the accident that left Mireya allegedly paralyzed. Ignacia tells him it wasn't his fault.
Barbie overhears El Duro describing Gema to Zafiro. When he says she was working at a car wash she flashbacks and thinks she might have met Gema.
Angel tells El Raton how he was attacked and his money was stolen. And now he can't pay back El Duro. El Raton urges him to accept his job offer.
Oleg is still missing and Mireya remembers their convo when he found she could walk. She starts to feel guilty but then grabs his picture from the table and tells it that she is not going to let him manipulate her. Next morning she finds he still hasn't returned. She goes to look for his car keys and finds a letter addressed to her.
Estela gets up early and makes breakfast for Tomás. She says she's there to make his life easier and to support him. Looks like they're making up. Let's have no more trying to kill each other.
Gema calls her brother Benjamin to let him know she will be sending some money for his dialysis. She lies about her new job, saying they treat her "like a princess."
Mireya reads the letter which I will translate in another post. Oleg has gone away for good and she is devastated. He urges her to tell Pedro the truth. She feels abandoned and says she going to handle things the way she sees fit.
Petra doesn't want to face Marge after she screwed up Lupita's wedding gown. Angel comes to the breakfast table in pain. Petra examines his wound and Angel says it was an accident at work. Gema gets nervous and says she has to leave for work.
JM goes to see Mariano at his apartment. He confesses that he's falling in love with Ignacia. What is that silver thing in Mariano's apartment that looks like an IV?
Sounds like Reuben is going to be kidnapped before his wedding because Tomás assures Estela that he won't arrive. He advises her to get chummy with the naca's family and to pretend she approves so that no one will suspect her when Reuben disappears.
JM believes that Pedro and Ignacia's relationship will blow up at the first little thing and when it does, he will fight for Ignacia.
Marge wonders if Oleg has shown up yet. Mireya wheels over to tell Marge and Pedro that Oleg is gone for good. She lets the cat out of the bag: Pedro "stole" Oleg's job. Pedro tries to explain that it was a misunderstanding and when he mentions Ignacia's name Mireya yells that the two of them ganged up on Oleg so Pedro could have his job. Marge informs Pedro that Ignacia Santamaría will never set foot in her house again.
Tomás offers to set up and pay for Reuben's bachelor party. Reuben says that Neto is in charge of the festivities. At that point Neto walks into the office. "So you're the famous Neto." He tells Neto to give him a call if he needs anything for the party. After Tomás leaves Neto says it's good to have a benefactor but Reuben says Tomás is up to something.
Marge explains to Gina and Lupita what happened. Gina feels it's unfair that Oleg lost his job because of one of Ignacia's whims. Lupita thinks Mireya could be lying.
Barbie and Zafiro discuss a possible Gema sighting. FF>
At his desk Tomás decides to call Mireya. She is going through the drawers looking for money. "He took the time to write a letter but didn't bother to leave me any money to survive on?" She does not answer Tomás' call. "No I don't have time to play."
Welcome back Novelera! You sound like you had a blast in Spain. I hope to get over there some day.
Olegario's Letter (loose translation)
NOTE: Olegario left the letter next to his car keys on a top shelf. This explains the first line.
Mireya,
If you found this letter it's because you got up from the wheelchair and are standing up. It's how you should always be. Standing. Walking. Showing your face to the world. Assuming responsibility for the mistakes you have made, which, sooner or later, you will have to pay for. When you read this letter, I will already be very far from here. You'll ask why did I go? Where? With whom? But don't worry. The only thing you should know is that I'll be fine. And the most important thing is that I'll always be devoted to you and you won't lack for anything.
Pedro is now the foreman of the construction site. Tell him you can walk. Take away this weight from his soul so he won't have to carry it until his death. I'm going to keep it to myself because, above all, you are my daughter and I'll respect your wishes. Try to be happy. I love you and I'm forever your Papá.
Now if I were Marge I would have asked to read the letter.
I was hoping that Estella would of stuck to her guns and poisoned Tomas, but no it seems like he has her completely brainwashed.
After yesterday's episode, I take back wanting Mireya being redeemed at the end of the tn. I can't believe that she blamed her dad leaving on Pedro. Hopefully she leaves that letter laying around so somebody reads it.
Poor JM, I'm not happy that they're going the whole he has feelings for Iggy plot. I really like their relationship, and was hoping for the first platonic male/female friendship that didn't end up in unrequited love for one of the them.
And I loved that whole funny awkward scene between Tomas, Rueben, & Neto.
Tomas:"What's your name...Neto?"
Thks J in Oregon & Sue for Tue&Wed recap :)
jlk
Welcome back, Novelera. Your trip to Spain sounded fantastic. And you got to see so many different cities! I'm sure you also got to speak a lot of Spanish. What a fabulous experience!
Sue455, thanks very much for the nice recap, there was nothing "mini" about it!
I wondered why Oleg left town on the bus if he has a car...did he leave it for Mireya? Every time she sees Ignacia with Pedro, she gasps with her mouth in that big "0" shape, like she's seeing them together for the first time.
Yah, that wacky hanging silver thing, I've noticed that too. Maybe a lamp? It looks like some kind of industrial medical/torture accessory. :o)
J in Oregon
Welcome back, Novelera! It's not much fun to come back to a pile of unfinished work projects, but this trip definitely sounds as if it was worth it.
part 1
*night time and it's a full moon,
the will has been read, Santiago offers his share to his mother,
this confuses Humberto,
Francisca runs up to her room, Santiago follows and comforts her.
Vicente wants a word with her, in private,
neither of them thought Gaspar suspected,
he begs Francisca, don't reveal the whole truth, about our "hijo",
Santa is at Paula's,
tomorrow is the day,
but Paula is freaking out that Ricardo may still be alive,
who visits her later that night, with a big knife,
in a nightmare,
Lisette and Hortensia are rejoicing that she may be pregnant,
they hustle Arturo off to get a pregnancy test,
Mara alone at the Cafe is being attacked, a man in black with a covered face,
she fights him off enough to get to a back room, with a lock on the door,
and a phone,
she calls Arturo, begs for help, the line goes dead,
at Victoria's, Ivan is blurting out what he knows to Victoria,
as Patricio hovers menacingly about,
he pulls out the Cameo, accuses Patricio of taking it,
Victoria flashes back to her childhood, watching her parents fight,
now she understands,
all the while Patricio is so calm, it's scary,
he says it's all a lie,
talks of a twin,
shows his scar from the kidney surgery,
we'll go to New Orleans in the morning, you'll see,
Humberto, in his home office,
asks someone on the phone to get a full accounting of Gaspar's finances,
Ines enters, pleads for help, how can I keep up this false pregnancy,
then we see the history,
she drugged Santiago, but they didn't sleep together,
and the nurse switched samples at her blood test, under Humberto's watchful eye,
what can I do now, Ines asks,
Humberto shrugs, I can't help you,
but Santiago won't be living here long, I can't have him this close to Amanda,
trust me, he says as he walks out,
Mara's attacker has gotten a fire extinguisher and begins knocking holes in the door,
he reaches in for the lock, enters, and goes for Mara,
Arturo grabs him from behind, they fight, room to room,
Arturo is getting the best of him, but he gets away,
Mara stops Arturo from chasing him into the dark night,
later the attacker checks the scrapes on his right arm,
and pulls off the mask,
it's Carlos,
Arturo takes Mara home to Elisa,
and stays with her,
Lisette wants her pregnancy test, keeps calling,
part 2
Vicente brings food for the thing in the basement,
once again he doesn't walk to the bottom of the stairs,
throws the bag of food,
what, Ines, she's fine, getting married, you know how she is,,,,
as he leaves and closes the big door, we see the other side,
he pulls a big bookcase over to hide it,
is this the Robledo's casa?
Santa arrives home, Santiago sits alone in the darkened sala,
they talk, they touch, (not here), but they kiss,
a quiet barefoot Humberto coming down the stairs sees them,
after watching, he quietly leaves,
he wonders about Vicente's earlier question, does he have feelings for Santa,
when Santa arrives in their bedroom, he acts asleep,
*next day
Transito, looking totally beatup still, and in extreme pain,
arrives back to the Trebol de Oro,
all of the girls greet her, and sit at her feet like kids,
Lucy comes barging in, and has to be reminded that this is her aunt,
she hugs her, causing even more pain,
and they both stumble over her cover story,
Vicente meets Humberto in his G-Cano office, with details of Gaspar's finances,
Gaspar was near bankruptcy,
(did he say they could loose the house as well)
and with the firm doing so poor...
they decide to meet with the bankers, and look for a solution,
Humberto looks worried,
Santa comes downstairs, Santiago is playing his sax for willy, who is smiling,
she watches,
looks refreshed, happy, ready for a new day,
Patricio, Ivan, and Victoria arrive at the aunts house in New Orleans,
but another family lives there...
Mara goes to the police station, talks to Pancho about the attack,
Carlos as jefe, takes her reluctantly to his office, closes the door,
no she can't identify the guy, these things are hard to prove, etc., etc.
she sees the scrapes on his arm,
and knows... (we hope)
Thanks, Deb, for the great recap.
Yes, Gaspar owed some banks a whole lot of money and the debts are secured on the Cano mansion. So the banks can take the house if the loans aren't paid. Maybe no one is going to inherit much from old Gaspar whether they were mentioned in the will or not.
It does seem like the mystery prisoner is in the basement of Vicente and Ines' house. Let's see how long that will remain a secret.
Not too smart of Samanda and Santi to be kissing in the living room of the Cano house but smarts is not their strong point.
If Lisette is preggers, the baby could be Bert's just as easily as Arturo's. It's only been a couple of days since Lisette and Arturo got married and had sex while Lisette has been shagging Bert for a while and no one ever uses protection in a novela.
Thanks, Hombre and Deb, for the great recaps the last two days. And, Jean, I agree with all four of your points above.
Begona had told Sam, "Time for phase 2", and then Sam told Paula, "Call me tomorrow when there's a blow up at the office." Could the bankruptcy be Sam's doing? Maybe with help from Ivan?
Mara will be in even more danger if Carlos believes she knows it was him who attacked her.
Pat must have a New Orleans connection who gave him the heads up on Ivan's sleuthing. My impression was that the trip to NO was Pat's set up to make Ivan look like he's out to get Pat.
I'm more and more convinced that (1) the guy in the basement is Willy and (2) Vin's and Fran's hijo is Bert.
That nightmare scared me.
Beth
Welcome back, Novelera. So glad you had a wonderful trip. And thanks for sharing some highlights - they brought back great memories.
Beth
Great recap, Deb. I especially liked how you reported the nightmare as if it happened, the way we saw it.
So many developments! I was happy that Santi never had sex with Ines, and she's not pregnant. That'll have to come out eventually. Maybe Ines will fall down some stairs of doom, and the doctor will say "what pregnancy?".
I like how they keep revealing just a little more of the guy in the basement each time.
Colin Phillips is in town, and we'll see what happens with him and Hortensia.
I don't think Pat set up the whole thing, it's just giving away too much, it rang true for me. But I do think someone called him, and he moved his aunt out, or something like that. Either way, it's so frustrating for Ivan!
I sure hope that scum Carlos gets in trouble, although he'll probably get out of things for now. Pancho, however, keeps getting little indicators of his boss's strange behavior. He's been explaining Carlos as being stubborn, or slow on the uptake, but eventually he'll find out (and then he'll probably be killed, or in a coma!).
I, for one, DO feel that Samanda and Santiago have a hot romance, their kisses seem very passionate to me. And I like them, despite Sam's blank stares and Santi's hang dog look.
But Bert! He's a super villain, one of the best I've seen. His steely gaze is PERFECT for the part, as he struggles with his attraction to Sam, and with his crumbling financial empire.
Novelera, enjoyed hearing about your trip so much. A few questions, do you travel alone? I generally travel alone, so am very careful where I go.
It sounds like you didn't go on a tour, so how did you plan your itinerary? How long were you in Spain?
Spain is on my bucket list.
Thanks, Deb, for the great recap. I somehow missed seeing the part where Carlos examines his arm and takes his mask off, but I assumed that was who the attacker was. Mara is in a rather vulnerable position being alone with Carlos in his office and recognizing that he's the attacker, but it's not clear what Carlos can do there other than threaten her. After all, Pancho saw the two of them enter the office, and Pancho also saw Mara's clear reluctance to go with Carlos into his office. More and more of Pancho's brain cells are lighting up.
Beth, I agree that Patricio clearly had a hand in the aunt no longer being where Ivan saw her, but I agree with Hombre that it's unlikely that the whole thing was a setup arranged by Patricio. The alternative would be that Ivan is bonkers, and the telenovela already has enough crazy people without needing one more. :-)
Though almost all aspects of this novela are beanie-worthy, the one that bothers me most is the Mystery Man in the Cellar. Yes, I know that such things do happen, but it still seems off, somehow. Vincente doesn't seem like the sort of person who would do that; moreover, how could he keep someone in the cellar without Inés knowing? Surely she would have remembered that there used to be a staircase down to the cellar and a door to the cellar where there now is just a heavy bookcase. OTOH, if she knows about the captive and if the captive is Willy, it seems highly unlikely that she'd go along with this, given all her mooning over his photo.
thanks Jean, for filling in with the details of Gaspar's finances, I really appreciate that.
and Beth for writing down what Santa said about the coming doom of the Cano's.
and for Hombre's always wonderful comments,
Juanita's too,
Victoria was confusing me last night, as Ivan was so desperately blurting out what he had found out about Patricio, as it all seemed to have the opposite affect, pushing her further into her trauma and her past, like she wasn't hearing, but we know she was, as the relationship between Patricio's father and Victoria's mother rang true, and the way Patricio would come up close to her, and she wouldn't push him away while always keeping her distance from Ivan, was even more disturbing, and his explanation of a twin, a brother, the one who had problems with gambling, drugs, women, the aunt didn't say anything about a brother but was saying those things about him.
and we don't know what has happened between Carlos and Victoria, and Carlos seems to be the biggest threat of all, maybe are three should be allies, if Patricio wasn't so whacko, but I guess you could say Victoria is pushing Ivan away to protect him, and herself.
Welcome back Novelera! Spain was one of my favorite countries in Europe when a friend and I travelled through Europe for two months many years back. I would love to go back some day. It sounds like you had an amazing time! You're getting me excited for my vacation, which I leave for in a week from now. Yay!
Variopinta, I always travel alone. This way you go to bed when you want to go to bed. You sleep as long as you want to sleep. You stay at the museum as long as you want to without anyone tugging on your elbow!
I don't think I could stand a tour. I saw those groups, of various nationalities, trooping through fabulous places in Spain listening to a guide with a bad accent in their native language.
Of course, I usually go somewhere where I can speak at least some of the language. Spanish is my best other language, but I can get by in Portuguese and Italian as well.
I left on Saturday, 9/7 and returned on Monday 9/23 and was back in the office on 9/24.
I knew the places I wanted to visit. I never book rooms ahead, so when I liked Seville quite a lot, I stayed an extra day.
I would also have liked to have gone to Valencia or Toledo. But it's crazy to push yourself that hard.
Novelera- So far my Africa travels have taken me to: Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, and Egypt. I would very much like to visit Morocco, Senegal, Mozambique (likely next year), Madagascar, and Tanzania.
Just watched Thurs episode. Loved the scene where Antonio had the audacity to compare an unplanned pregnancy to burning food. Reinaldo tells him, "When you burn food you throw it out but you don't throw out a child" or something like that. How horrible it must be to realize that Gris has a son like Antonio. In his case, the apple fell very far from the tree. Like in the next city.
Fans, things are picking up speed!
(The following comments are from memory and are out of order):
Estela has a melt-down at Casa Perez and blurts out about Gina being the home-wrecker that stole Mariano away from the bosom of his loving family. Marg has a fainting spell from the stress. Estela leaves, Ignacia and Ruben split also.
Marg recovers when Loopita bops in with her sonogram and the announcement that she is having a baby girl.
Isabel goes to a night spot with JM, who proceeds to drink too much, get maudlin, and admit that he loves Ignacia.
Mireya goes to the Mansion o' Horrors where she and Tomas continue to spar and cook up revenge plans. Estela sees them kissing and staggers off in shock.
Ig and Ruben go back to the Apartamento and are ticked off at Mariano; he explains that Estela blackmailed him into leaving the family when they were little. Back at the Perez', Pedro is scolding Gina for her affair with a married man. Gina points out politely that he should understand, as he fell in love with a married woman (Ignacia).
Back at the Mansion o' Horrors, Mireya has left, and Tomas finds Estela collapsed on the floor with a bottle of pills beside her. He does seems upset and helps her into bed, bringing her some strong coffee (guess there was no tacita de te handy).
At Casa de Olegario, Mireya is flashing back to Neto kissing her and saying that Tomas with all his millions will never to kiss her like that. Maybe not, she muses, but Tomas has the power to break up Ignacia and Pedro.
Back at the apartment, Mariano is thinking out loud about who his and Gina's son could be. Abue is doing tequila shots and blurts out the truth just as it dawns on him.
Ignacia calls Pedro to apologize for leaving his house so hurriedly; her Mama's behaviour made everything awkward. She wants to see him right away and gives him an address of where to meet her. He says he will be right there. But wait! Tia Gina is listening at an open doorway (Drink!) and looks horrified.

part 1
Mara, in Carlos office DOES think it was him, who attacked her,
she starts screaming as he tries to detain her,
the other officers hear but won't go in, but Pancho does,
allowing Mara to leave, who tells anyone that Carlos tried to abuse her,
Carlos smugly says, she's crazy,
Santiago is playing the sax for willy, he likes it, Santa is watching,
afterward Santiago asks to see a pic of Willy,
Santa shows him one from her purse in her bedroom,
I've seen this before somewhere (duh)
Ivan questions the lady at the aunt's house in New Orleans, as Victoria and Patricio watch,
we see the aunt tied and gagged, rolling on the floor, out of sight,
Patricio convinces Victoria that it's all a lie,
they decide to leave, and unseen, Patricio quietly hands the lady a wad of money,
before they drive off,
leaving a confused and lost Ivan standing there,
(weren't they all riding together)
Humberto and Vicente are at Paula's reception desk trying to arrange a meeting with the bankers,
Paula gets wind of Gaspar's financial troubles,
she calls Santa to let her know, (it appears this was news to them)
this will work perfect with our death blow,
meanwhile Ines has appeared at Casa Cano and is loving (harassing) willy,
Santa pulls him free and has Begona get him out of there,
words lead to slaps, but Santiago appears and breaks it up,
Ines has baby pains, er, something,
Santiago takes her home, Santa can't believe he would fall for this,
Barbara notices her jewels are gone,
she walks in on George talking business with the Texas land guy,
she tells him, you are out of here, period,
he brings up the whole Willy thing,
Humberto meets with the bankers,
Lisette does her pregnancy test and tells Arturo and Hortensia that she is,
(she keeps talking about being a millionaire from this)
Hortensia is elated, hugs Arturo, but he keeps his arms at his side,
he's not really into the baby business, leaves,
Lisette gets disgusted, leaves as well,
Pancho visits the Padre, official business,
he wants to know the source on the body in the woods,
and gets a call, there is a body in the woods,
you're coming with me Padre,
*Trebol de Oro,
Lucy helps Transito to her room,
who tries to warn her of the dangers,
Lucy jumps ahead to, these girls are being held here, and you are too,
too much for Transito, she asks Lucy to leave her in peace,
Humberto returns to his office,
there is a lady waiting to see him,
(I really didn't get this, I think she wants to be a part of the firm in exchange for helping with their financial problems, her and Paula make eye contact, but nothing more than casual)
Humberto is interested.
part 2
Vicente rushes home to check on Ines, meets Santiago in the sala,
they chat,
(I didn't get what was said about Gloria, the girl Santiago supposedly killed)
Santiago asks THE question,
has Ines been pregnant before,
no, no, she's loca, you can't always believe everything she says,
you mean like when she says that she is pregnant now, Santiago asks,
no, no, we have a medical certificate on that,
Elisa arrives at Hortensia's with Collin,
Collin, an understanding parent himself, asks her for forgiveness, she slaps him,
(well, that didn't go so well)
Vicente chats with Ines, laying on her bed,
do you think I'll be a good mother she asks,
oh yes, bla, bla, your mother, bla, bla,
you talk like my mother is alive, Ines says,
oh yes, in our hearts, Vicente covers,
you rest, I have to run, but Ines follows,
he drives to another house, enters, and is moving the bookcase away from the cellar door,
when Ines walks in, asks what he is doing...
Arturo goes to see Mara at the Cafe,
she is so relieved to see him, rushes to tell him about Carlos,
but Arturo jumps in and says Lisette is pregnant,
Mara is crushed.
you know THE plan, so my mother will leave us alone,
she tells him to leave,
home at Victoria's, Patricio starts on about Ivan,
how creepy he is to imply those things,
you need to stay away from him,
at the scene of the body, Pancho compares things to what the Padre told him,
tell me the source,
I can't, says the Padre,
then I'll have to arrest you,
Santa arrives home to a drinking and babbling George,
let me consul you Santa, you need to leave this place,
as Francisca appears with a stern look,
and Santiago begins listening from afar,
this is a family of murderers, they ruined an innocent families life...
does Santa have a bit of a smile?
Thanks again for the great recap, Deb.
I think Vicente just reminded Santi that he knows about Santi's secret so he'd better not mess up his relationship with Ines.
The writers are really teasing us here with the identity of the cellar dweller. First, they suggested that it was Willy and now they are suggesting that it is Ines' mother. We MAY find out on Monday.
My guess is that the woman who came to see Bert (I forgot her name) is part of Samanda's Plan of Vengeance.
She told Bert that she is the widow of a guy who was a big fan of the G-Cano firm. She heard about the firm's troubles, has more money than she needs and wants to invest her money in it.
Reinaldo wants TC to see the psychiatrist but she will have none of it, even though she had agreed to needing help. TC rants about Gris and Antonio stealing her husband and her family as well as her inheritance and aristocratic name. Reinaldo wants them to concentrate on Pati because she wants to have the child.
Vanesa tends to Ro's wounds from the fight at the beach. Vanesa mentions the scandal at Pati's house and Ro goes there to save the life of his "queen." Vanesa calls his queen a witch.
Nice talk between Pati and Reinaldo. She thanks him for defending her from Antonio's visit, something which he is not proud of (recall that he smacked him and threw him out). She feels like it's all a bad dream. Reinaldo tells her to wake up and everything will be normal. Before he leaves for work he promises that she will never be alone and that he will help bring up her child as if it were his own.
Gris tells Antonio that she knows Pati is pregnant and that he doesn't want her to have the baby. He says he loves Pati and wants what's best for her and what's best for her is not to have a child at this time. He reminds Gris of how young she was when she was pregnant with Jethro. Gris says he won't have to worry about a baby because she will raise it. Antonio asks, "What about Pati?" Gris is going to speak to her about this. Gris got a good swipe in when she told him he should have thought before taking off his pants.
Ditzy maid scene: TC comes out of her bath, asks for her champagne and says, "Cuento." So Elsa hands her the champagne and responds, "1..2..3..4…" TC meant tell her what's been going on while she was out because something is always going on. She reports that Vanesa came to see Pati. TC asks about "the parasite" and has to spell out that she means Antonio. Ro comes bursting in.
Amalia is worried that Gris and Antonio are going to start fighting again just when their relationship is improving. She asks Jethro for help. His only concern is getting Babs out of his life and Kikito's life. Besides, Antonio had it all and he continues to act like a child.
Babs and Max argue about money. They can no longer live the high life. He intends to return the motorcycle. She thinks that's a bad idea because taxis are so costly. He has the cojones to suggest she ride the bus. (Go Max!) He waves the hotel bill at her. She refuses to leave the hotel.
José thinks Gris is crazy to want to raise another grandchild. Gris tells him he has no say since he wasn't around to raise his children, never mind his grandchildren. They hear a knock at the door. José answers it. It's Reinaldo. Gris tells José to get lost. Reinaldo asks about José who was supposedly at the bottom of the ocean all these years. Gris says he didn't go there to talk about her ex. He came to discuss Pati's baby. She knows that TC doesn't want Pati to have the baby. She tells Reinaldo of her plan to take care of Pati's baby. He agrees and says he wants to take care of it also.
Susana is waiting for Rafa to break it off with Amalia. Keep waiting. Max arrives to return the motorcycle (I thought he did this already) but Ivan refuses to take it back citing a downward trend in sales due to competition. Max leaves the office and Susana says Ivan missed a chance to gain new business. She explains and Ivan gets Max just before he is leaving the premises. He proposes that he'll take the bike back if Max agrees to a promotion: For every bike sold the owner will receive a lesson in self-defense from el Campeón Máximo Durán. Max is happy to go along with this plan.
Manuel, Celeste and Sol are having a family dinner in a restaurant (not Gourmet Palmer, they can't quite afford that yet). Manuel notices a man who keeps looking at Sol. When the man starts to come over to their table Manuel gets up and says he's going to smack him. Sol stops him and tells him that his name is Ricky and he organizes dances around the community. Ricky greets Sol and says he has a proposition. Manuel is all ears. Ricky invites her to dance at one of his neighborhood dances. Sol quickly accepts but Manuel puts the kibosh on that. He says that he has bigger plans for her and he thinks Ricky wants more from Sol than just dancing. Ricky tells him that without his help she'll end up singing in the shower (la regadera). He leaves and Manuel tells Sol that you have to think big in order to succeed.
Reinaldo arrives at the restaurant and asks Simon to reserve a table for three. Ro sees Pati going out and he asks where. She says out to dinner but doesn't reveal where. "Your mother will be all alone at dinner." "Well Dulce and Gaitana can keep her company." Gris is also on her way to Gourmet Palmer for a pow-wow on Pati's baby. TC is furious (is she anything else?) that Pati and Reinaldo are having dinner in her restaurant without her. Ro tells her more bad news: he called and the reservation is for three. They quickly assume the third person is Gris. TC wants to rush over there but Ro warns her that another scandal at the restaurant would give Reinaldo ammo to leave her. She comes up with a better plan: she has Ro call Vanesa to tell her to find a way to eavesdrop on the conversation. Ro is wishy-washy about this.
José sees Gris pull out in her truck and wonders where she is going all dolled up. She didn't look all dolled up to me. Jethro says he should mind his own business and perhaps he should disappear for another 15 years. José says he has the same character as Gris. "But my physique." Yeah, in your dreams. Though we haven't gotten a glimpse of Jethro in his tighty-whities so we can't compare everything.
Pati arrives at Gourmet-Palmer and is surprised to see Gris there. Gris proposes that Pati come to live with her. In that way Pati could continue to go to school and Gris would take care of the baby. Reinaldo agrees it's a good plan because, although he hates to admit it, TC would make her life a living hell if she were to live at home. Pati initially says no because she doesn't want to live with Antonio but Gris tells her that he will not be living there. Pati will think about it. Vanesa is a few feet away but is caught by Simon. She goes back to her desk and calls Ro with the scoop. If you watch with Spanish captions as I do when I recap, you'll notice that Ro pronounces the five vowels in order while speaking with Vanesa: "¿Ah?…¿Ey?…¿Y?…¡Oh!…¡Uhhh!" Just a fun fact. TC rants (does she do anything else?) about Reinaldo betraying her with Gris. Ro tells her that Vanesa heard Gris ask Pati to come live with them in the new house. TC looks like she's going to have a stroke.
Next morning. Gris is washing dishes (is that a toucan above her sink?) and José wants some breakfast. She gives him a plate with one hard-boiled egg. He starts about her going out last night; Gris interrupts saying she doesn't owe him an explanation. He concludes that the "white shark" (el tiburón blanco) is Pati's father. "As a father I have my rights and if he came to speak with you about…" "I repeat: someone who didn't bring up his own children has no say in the matter." She calls him a giant octopus (un pulpo gigante). She also warns him about various tortures she will carry out to the octopus if he doesn't butt out. She goes upstairs and he comments that before he's cut up he will strangle the white shark with his tentacles.
TC is all sweetness and light before he leaves for work. She goes upstairs to Pati's room and tells her she knows about the invitation to move in with Gris. "Do you want to know what I decided?" TC tells her, "There is no decision to make." Pati calls humiliation TC's favorite sport. "Wrong answer. Shopping is my favorite sport." Mother and daughter have another of their colossal fights about respect. Pati informs her that she will move in with Gris. Pati takes her suitcase and heads downstairs. More ugliness on the stairs ending with TC yelling that she would prefer her daughter go to hell than to live with that woman. They struggle in slow-motion. Will Pati fall and end up like the mafioso? Will she fall and lose the baby? Tune in Monday.
Thanks, Deb, for another super recap!
I think the woman's last name is Cooper, her husband was Hugo, who supposedly knows Vicente, forgot her first name. I agree she's probably part of Paula and Samanda's plan.
Now we know how Vicente kept the cellar dweller secret - whole second house! He sure acted like it was Ines's mother in this episode.
Pancho means well, but he really focuses on all the wrong cases. He was so intent on arresting Santiago for some major crimes, when all he had was a fake passport. So what! And Santi was freed with one phone call. Now he's going to arrest Padre Milton (that's his name) because Milton asked if a body was found? What crime is that (okay, maybe obstruction of justice, but since the Padre knows nothing, AND heard only the possibility, AND it was in confession, I think Pancho is overstepping his duty.
On the other hand, he's not doing much to help Mara, who was almost raped, and could really be helpful with unmasking Patricio. Or he could check out Humberto's crimes. Or Vicente's crimes. So far, he isn't really getting it about how corrupt Carlos is, except that at least Lucy's finding some things out. Wake up, Pancho!
Santi is pretty stupid not to remember that photo he just saw about two days ago with Ines. Eventually he will, though.
Lisette is just terrible, only in it for the money. But I really liked her sexy dress last night.
Barb realized George stole her jewels, and I think she gave him one week to clear out.
Ivan was SO CLOSE. The woman said I could call the cops, and he said go ahead. But they never do in those situations. Although Vicky thinks Ivan was making stuff up, Pat is skating on thin ice by saying things like "How could you think your mother was unfaithful? And with my father? And that my mother committed suicide? It's preposterous!" (he then smiles to himself). But she knows her mother and father did fight.
One good thing is that Pat actually hates Carlos. So one day, when it all comes out, one of them should be able to take out the other one!
Thank you, Sue, wonderful recap!
I also caught the a-e-i-o-u. Hilarious! Ro is so funny. And so different from the last show the actor was in, where he played a mafioso.
Susana will, of course, be crushed when she realizes Rafa is playing her. I was encouraged that she had a good idea, which Ivan noticed. Maybe she'll be recognized for her business skills, and when finds out Rafa isn't leaving Amalia, she'll get him fired, and she can be the manager.
Characters in novelas really have to pay attention when they're fighting on staircases.
thanks so much Jean and Hombre for filling in the holes,
this really helps me out.
maybe I'm wrong but I think the legal file (that Ricardo burned) that Santiago looked at, had a picture of Willy right on top, (maybe I should go and look for this), but I guess a casual glance at a pic wouldn't be remembered very well, BUT everyone has the same pic, and Santa did call Paula to verify that Santiago didn't see her copy.
the lady in Humberto's office was really oozing being alone with lots of money, that's the part that I think Humberto got, but there does seem to be implied a Hugo/Vicente link, for a reference.
Vicente is pretty quick/smooth with the answers to everyone's questions, true or not, it's kind of amazing that he is right back working with Humberto, as if the affair with his mother never happened.
George cracks me up, he will just never be happy until everything is NOT going his way.
thanks so much Sue for the detailed recap,
I think Max originally brought back his top-of-the-line motorcycle, for a less expensive model, I really like him.
it's funny how Jose is always popping out of the background with his comments, and it does look like he is serious about Chino's treasure,
so TC has pushed Pati to live with Griselda, but Antonio will no longer be included at the new house, hmm, more sad puppy eyes from Amalia, and numerous visits by Reinaldo.
oh no, pregnant women on the stairs,
Deb, I was referring to the fact that two days ago, Ines dropped her magazines, and the photo of Willy popped out. Santiago picked it up, took a good look at it, and said who is this? Ines said, oh nobody. So, I don't know if Santiago saw any picture from Willy's file, but he definitely saw the one at Ines's house.
thanks so much J in Oregon,
great little summary!
I was thinking the Pedro parentage thing has been overdone, but wow, these characters have really upped the drama on finally bringing this to the table, and Abuela does her best work with a shot of Tequila in her hand,
Invis-abel is SO sweet,
wow, Mireya sure picked up on Tomas and Estela,
and it doesn't really look too good that they are still living together, alone,
another day at the house-of-pills,
Estela on the floor, spilled what's left of the bottle,
does Tomas even call a doctor,
offers her a cup of coffee.
so Mariano's next move is to talk to his son, Pedro,
as fate will have it, will these two ever see each other again.
I guess ED has been busy shaking down George in "Santa Diabla".
Welcome back, Novelera! Reading about your trip made me dream about my next vacation - we'd like to go to Spain, too, I have an aunt who lives near Madrid, but we also made different plans with some friends, so it'll be tricky to manage.
MARIDO
Those awful stairs...
But maybe Pati doesn't fall, after all? They would have shown us the fall if it had happened, right? Besides, if she loses the baby, Tony will be happy, TC will really be in hot water with Rei (he'd definitely want to leave her and that would make things too easy for he and Gris to be together - I know this is what we want, but the show wants us to toss and turn, right?)
I love JP's straight faces at all the madness, Ro is still funny, but he's going way over board with his TC love fest.
SANTA
So, after I was sure that Willy is in the basement, now I think it could be Ines' mother... not too interested in the story if that's the case.
I still want Willy to be alive, if he's not, the Begona discovery won't be as powerful.
Is Lisette really pregnant?
I didn't see Santa and Humber one moment together after Gaspar died - shouldn't she console him? I know she hates his guts, but she's still pretending to be a loving wife, right? The only moment he showed his pain was with Lisette...
If I were Santa I would be all over Humberto now that he's sad, but instead she preferred to make out with Santiago, who ALWAYS has the weepy eyes.
Ufff...
thanks Hombre,
yes, I remember Ines' larger copy of the shared Willy pic, but I guess I'm stuck on that legal file, because that should have really imprinted on Santiago who Willy is, but then why would he ask Santa to see another pic of him., perhaps Paula pulled the file away before he got a good look.
btw, wasn't Santa certain that only she and Paula had a copy of that pic, hmm, I wonder why she is so sure, and funny that they don't have lots of pictures of him, what's so special about this one?
but maybe I'm reading too much into this as the story seems to have changed pace, and they are now being very careful to show/explain all of the important plot points.
Novelaman wrote:
"Can someone explain why Kike is being called Jethro?"
Someone made a reference to the Beverly Hillbillies. Sometimes Quique is all brawn and no brain. Like Jethro. I referred to Amalia as Ellie Mae last week at a commenter's suggestion because she has been so dumb of late.
Here's my obsessively detailed retelling of what happened on the Griselda-Reinaldo storyline on Friday:
Griselda makes hand motions as if to do something with her hair when she sees Reinaldo at the door, but then she focuses on getting Jose out of the picture, shooing him out of the way. Reinaldo looks a bit taken aback, whether at Jose's wild-man appearance or Griselda's farm-wife scattering chickens approach to husband management is unclear, but he then beams as Griselda turns to him.
After the commercial break, we see Reinaldo and Griselda facing each other on the couch, a little awkward but with a strong undercurrent of contentment. They talk about why they haven't seen each other, referring to TC as a force of nature, a hurricane, and how then, after the lottery win, someone else, the ex-corpse, the ex-husband turned up on the scene, and then Griselda comes to the point, Patty's pregnancy. Through all these serious matters, Reinaldo can't keep a broad smile off his face, and Griselda is only a little less obviously happy.
As their conversation continues, Reinaldo laughingly talks about the fight between TC and Patty, and then both he and Griselda recount how they scolded their respective children. They agree about the irresponsibility of their offspring. They discuss how TC doesn't want Patty to have the baby, and they decide not to talk about TC any more. It turns out that they both want to focus on what they can do to help.
Griselda tells him, "I don't know about you, but I won't be able to sleep until I know that I've done everything I can for this baby that's coming."
Reinaldo looks at her as if he's seeing his dream woman, and says, "Me neither."
Griselda adds, "Well, I'm ready to take care of this baby."
"Me too!" says Reinaldo, who is delighted to hear her echoing his recent words to Patty. "And to help you with everything that will be needed with the baby." They smile at each other, Reinaldo especially dotingly but Griselda also pretty happy. At this moment they look like they're ready to take the as yet unborn infant off of Patty's hands and set up a household themselves.
And part two of the Friday Reinaldo-Griselda bits:
They come back to the real world for a second, as Griselda wonders whether TC will accept this. Reinaldo dismisses this: "What does it matter what Teresa Cristina thinks?" and they agree that the next thing they have to do is talk to Patty.
"I'm sure the two of us--I mean, all of us--will be able to deal with this very well," says Reinaldo. Gris agrees, and gets up to end the conversation, saying she'll be waiting for his call. She offers her hand, which he takes and holds with both his hands as he tells her, "I knew you wouldn't close the door in my face. And I know very well that you are not going to abandon our children. Me encantó verte." He leans in just a smidgen, as if for a kiss, but then thinks better of it and takes his leave. Griselda stands there in a daze for a couple of beats until Jose completely spoils her mood and turns her again into a ranting harridan.
By the time she arrives at Gourmet Palmer, Griselda has changed from a yellow to a pink shirt, from nondescript khakis to a dressier pair of pants and heels, and she's added tiny earrings, but her hair is still gathered in an unattractive bun (neither neat enough to be elegant nor messy enough to be sexy). Rei rushes to greet her. He tells her, with unmistakable sincerity, how good it is to see her. She seems a little awkward, and asks when Patty will arrive. (Meanwhile at the host's station Vanessa mutters suspiciously about the two of them dining together and has to be reprimanded by Simon, who is seriously under-utilized as always. If he's not going to have a female love-interest, couldn't he have turned up as the secret weapon on Ro's volleyball team?)
That's it really, for the Reinaldo-Griselda stuff. (I'm such a shipper at heart.) Well, there's the close-up on Reinaldo's beatific expression as he stares at Gris when she tells Patty, "The most important thing is you and your child, my grandchild."
FYI Carlos Ponce's ex is the sister of Sen Marco Rubio, FL
Humberto is trying to gaslight Amanda, is he also trying to frame her up for the murder of Ricardo. Of course he wouldn't know that she would be so stupid to pick up the gun.
Humberto also mistrusts Paula, is this a case of keeping your enemies close? She is doing a lot of damage to the firm. Does he know that she is Will Sr's sis?
J in O - thanks for getting the ball rolling on this episode. I'm so glad that the paternity secret is (finally!) coming out. And was it the padre who said that ESTELA is the key to the Pedro/Ignacia problem? If Pedro is truly Mariano's son (which we don't 100% know for sure) , then Ignacia must have a different father - maybe Oleg. And Iggy and Mireya are half sisters!? Just speculating….
Loved AA doing her tequila shots. As you said, Deb, that's when she does her best work. It sure was fun watching Mariano try to logically put the pieces together and AA's facial expressions in the background.
Marge just drives me crazy. Loopy came home (so happy and excited) with the ultrasound photo of her baby and the announcement of the baby's sex, and Marge pulled one of her swoons over the Gina pregnancy.
JM couldn't have had deep feelings for Karina; she's only been dead two weeks and already he's madly "in wuv" with Iggy. And poor Invis-abel, having to listen to his whiney drivel during dinner.
Beth
Deb - thanks so much for a great recap, with excellent play-by-play on the many changing locations.
Pat told Ivan to get himself back to Marrero from NO and drove off with Vicky.
What was Elisa thinking, dragging Colin to meet with Horti? There was no way that encounter could end well. Horti is so hateful, I could see her calling the police to charge Colin and Elisa with harassment.
Adriana, I've been scratching my head over the Sam/Bert relationship for awhile. Sam's behavior is not "loving" or even caring, and she frequently makes Bert angry, jealous and suspicious. It would seem to me that her "plan" and her credibility would benefit from some generously applied TLC.
Too funny! Once again we have the power of the confessional. Can't wait to see the padre in orange.
Beth
Thanks so much Sue and UtahDesert!
I loved the scenes between Gris and Rei. It’s been too long that those two have been separated. Now they’ll be united on a regular basis by their grandchild--- if TC doesn’t manage to fling Pati down the stairs and cause a miscarriage! I just knew TC would use those stairs against Pati.
Ro is starting to get on my nerves with his overprotecting TC, but I laughed out loud when he did the a-e-i-o-u thing on the phone.
Susana had a great idea for helping the moto shop, and this could also open up a new career opportunity for Max. I think he gets to keep the motorcycle too. He really needs a business manager who could help him set this up. Marcela is about to publicize to the whole world that he has a health issue anyway, so I think his career as a professional fighter is about to go bust very soon.
For once I agreed with Manuel. I did not like the scuzzy look of that party promoter. I think they do need to be smart and strategic about Sol’s career.
UtahDesert, thank you for detailing the scenes with Rei and Gris. Their scenes together have been so limited, it's frustrating. When they're finally together, its a real treat. They connect so wonderfully.
I also caught the way Rei gleamed when Gris said the only ones who matter now are Patty and the baby. I had fo replay that scene numerous times. That smile knocks me out!
Josie
Many thanks, deb, for your terrific recap. Well, at least now I know the answer to the question I asked yesterday about how Vincente could be keeping a Mystery Man in the Cellar without Inés knowing about it. Two houses. Indeed, apparently two rather nice houses. Has he been playing fast and loose with the law firm's money? I wonder how he'll explain the second house and what he's doing there to Inés. Let's see...he's bored and went to the bookcase to find a good book to read?
I'm not Catholic, but in a number of movies, plays, and telenovelas that I've seen, the priest is forbidden to reveal anything he's been told in the confessional. So how can Pablo arrest Father Milton?
I don't know what to make of Collin, nor of Elisa's intentions in having him speak with Hortensia. I think part of the problem is that the guy playing Collin makes him seem like mentally challenged robot. I don't know whether that's deliberate or just the result of exceptionally poor acting. But even if he seemed more compelling, why would Elisa think that Hortensia would be moved? Elisa seems reasonably savvy, which makes her action especially puzzling. I kept looking for an ulterior motive--wa she hoping Hortensia would physically assault Collin and could then be arrested?
Yet another thing that puzzled me last night was the woman who came to visit Humberto to offer her financial support in exchange for some unspecified role in the law firm. I saw no sign of recognition between Paula and the woman, which led me to doubt that she was part of The Plan. Moreover, she offered Vincente as someone who knew her late husband. It seems unlikely that Samanda or Paula could have come up with such a person to be on their side. So I've got no idea what the woman's role is/will be.
I keep hoping that I'll understand more after Monday's episode, but I fear I'm more likely to be even more confused.
Maybe the mystery woman at the Cano bufete really is a huge, over-adoring fan of Humberto with money to burn, but he'll think she's a set up. He loses out on a good business deal because he doesn't trust her. Could be fun for a laugh. We could use one.
Is there no such thing as Internal Affairs in Marrero? They need to be investigating Carlos, stat. Because we know where Mara can get a good lawyer and sue the heck out of the police, assuming Humberto doesn't lose his mind by then.
It would be a shame to have such a good looking actor as Willy and not see him again. I still think it's him in the basement but Mam Ines is in some asylum some where. It might explain Ines and how Vicente was able to get doctors to do whatever they did to her. Plus, I'm not sure you're allowed to have TWO people chained up in a basement.
Kelly
Muchas gracias, Sue, for the superb recap. And thanks too to UtahDesert for the "obsessively detailed retelling" of the Reinaldo-Griselda scenes.
I was attracted to "Marido en Alquiler" largely because of Juan Soler, and his smile last night as he sat talking to Griselda was enough to make me feel I'd chosen well. :-)
My guess is that Pati will not lose the baby even if she falls down the stairs. Why do I think so? Simply because they keep teasing us with that scene, first in the avances the night before, and then ending last night's episode with the same scene. I think they're playing with us. (But of course precisely because I think Pati will be OK, smart money will bet on her losing the baby :-) )
Didn't Humberto also throw out the husband of that woman, I think her name is Diana Cooper? At least he wasn't interested in what Mr Cooper was selling.
Santa picked up the gun by the barrel,so at least her fingerprints aren't on the trigger.
Sue and Utah - thanks so much for your detailed recaps. There was a lot of dialogue, and you very nicely filled in what I missed.
Gris should have pointed out to Tony that the world would have missed out on his wonderfulness if she had aborted him.
So sweet to see Gris' and Rei's affectionate collaboration on Pati's pregnancy and baby.
Ro is getting on my last nerve with his overly protective behavior around TC, even to the point of preventing important family discussions.
Tony will be very unhappy to hear he won't be living at Casa Carrasco. He'll be especially indignant that he's being replaced by a fetus.
Smart girl, that Susana. She came up with a win-win solution for Max and Ivan.
Beth
Utah, thank you for the detailed recap of the GRIS/REI talk. I like the spin you put on things.
Beth, I would have LOVED it if Gris had pointed out to Tony that he could have been an aborted fetus, too.
Juanita, I have the same reasonment as you when it comes to Pati possibly losing her baby. They're teasing us with this too much, but we haven't actually seen her fall down the stairs and usually that's the type of cliffhanger they use for scenes like this. Also, let's not forget that TC has a very active imagination, she could very well imagine she's pushing Pati.
Could Susana be smarter than Rafa, maybe playing with him? He thinks she has her under control, she's not snooping around anymore, but what she's trying to do is win more points with Ivan for her future at the company and destroy Rafa's relationship with Amalia, too.
So far there haven't been many clues of that happening, but Susana seems to be a smart girl, and yet she immediately fell for Rafa's sweet lovin'...It makes me wonder.
Variopinta, the guy who came to talk to Humber was not the woman's husband, she specifically stated her husband was dead. That guy is the one George is going into business with
Kelly, I hope you're right and Willy is still alive. It would force Santa to get back together with him, have mixed feelings for him and Santi, and then, BUM, the Begona reveal.
Juanita, I know that doctors can be forced by the court to reveal secret information, but I'm not sure how it works with priests.
I tend to believe the woman is in cahoots with Paula, because the camera really insisted on them both when she left the office - right now I'm going with this, but it could also be a red herring - with this show you never know.
Beth, I don't know if Esteban is still alive. It was so long ago when Estela was talking to the picture. All I remember was the most important part: she said that this Esteban was Ignacia's father.
This picture was in a box–I don't remember if it was locked–I think in a drawer in the living room. (I don't ever remember seeing Estela's bedroom.) When Ignacia got married the family moved to Tomás' house so quickly that I wonder if it is still there, ripe for discovery by Mariano, Abuela, Ignacia or Reuben.
Poor Mariano. Going from such joy at learning that Pedro is is son to the horror of realizing that this newly found son is in love with his (supposed) daughter.
The Texan whom Bert brushed off, but who may be working with George, is named Alexander Wayne.
The new woman is named Diana Cooper, and her husband was Hugo Cooper.
I'm still hoping that Elisa will get somewhere with bringing in Colin Phillips. Even though Hortensia slapped him, the scene isn't over yet. The reason why he sounds uneducated is that he's supposed to be struggling with his Spanish. He has a pronounced American accent.
Gracias a Adriana Noel y Hombre for clearing things up for me.
Poor cellar dweller, toilet, shower, water, where are all those things? Maybe the reason Vicente doesn't go down there. + they are probably chained, otherwise they would wait at the top to give Vicente a shove. I doubt it is a woman. Will Sr is still my guess. And does Humberto know about the cellar dweller? I say no.
What about the house, it must be uninhabited, what's the story there?
Sue455 i had to laugh at your Ellie Mae comment. Just like her, Amalia can't cook and nobody wants to say anything!
If the chained up person in the basement isnt Willy this will mean he is dead. But shouldnt he be automatically dead if he already appeared once in Amandas conscience? Maybe she hallucinated?!
Still if its not Willy locked up, Im completely ditching this novela for M.E.A.
I'm thinking Estela's early lover was named Enrique, (and I see that name in one of the cast lists, so maybe we will see him again), and I was thinking Estela is the only one that knows he may be Ignacia's father, but, the way the Padre is dragging his feet on Pedro/Ignacia, maybe he knows as well.
so JM's first love was a computer, did we need to know this?
Anyone else disappointed with the lack of storyline for Simon? He looks good in a suit, he looks good in his motorcycle-riding outfit, he plays smart and sensible very nicely, and he has absolutely nothing to do except back up Reinaldo and scold Vanessa.
And what was that red herring we got several weeks ago, when the camera focused on Simon's and Patty's hands touching as one gave the other a car-key or something? It now appears that this is going to mean nothing, since we don't get to see the slightest reaction from him to the news of Patty's pregnancy.
wow, great comments all!
ok, my obsession with Willy's legal file that Paula stole from G-Cano,
here is a pic,
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg167/metervik/Santa%20Diabla/29d_zpsa87a384a.jpg
this is when Ricardo was looking at it but it's the same file that Santiago also saw,
yes Kelly, I think that is a rule, no more than one person chained, per basement, ha!
Isn't Vicente's second house the weekend get-away one that Ines took Santi to for their fateful picnic? It looks very similar to me. At one point Vicente told someone (?Ines) that he had been to the second house only rarely since his wife died - too many memories.
I really think Willy is chained up in the basement. If the prisoner was Ines' mother, Vicente have to have pulled off a fake funeral or memorial service, death certificate, plausible story, etc. for friends and relatives. Or he could have said his wife is locked up in a manicomio and his kids aren't supposed to know.
If it's Willy in the basement, I don't believe Bert knows. If it's mamacita, Bert and Fran may know.
Anywho, I'm hoping the big reveal happens soon.
Deb, thanks for the reminder on the now-destroyed Willy file. I thought that, when Santi asked Sam to see a picture of Willy, he was being deliberately cautious, not wanting to say anything to Sam about Ines also having a picture of Willy. I had the impression that Santi was trying to figure out the mysteries of Ines' first pregnancy and Willy's picture.
Beth
Deb and Sue - Wow! So Estela cheated on Mariano with Enrique. Does Mariano know about this? Didn't he recently almost reveal something about why he and Estela broke up? But of course he was interrupted.
The padre must know Iggy is Enrique's father, because he said Estela is the key to the Iggy/Pedro relationship, and he was not alarmed when AA told him about Mariano being Pedro's father.
Beth
Yes, I also think the padre knows something about Enrique (why did I think his name was Esteban? Oh well they both begin with "E.")
Thanks JinOregon for the recap, you're right about it getting eventful! Can't wait for the next few episodes.
Sue,Beth,& Deb: I never would have thought about the padre knowing anything, but it does make sense why he said estella would clear it up (I did wonder about that). & why he didn't try to do more after AA talked to him.
If that is the case, at least someone else knows about Iggy's dad other than estella. Since she is deeply rooted in Tomasland, and since it's in her best interest to keep that particular secret, I am curious to see how it does become known. Right now I am thinking it's going to involve an accident and some blood donation.
& just one random thought about Thursday episode: Has Iggy never eaten a taco before?? Just eat the taco Iggy!
jlk
A thought occurred to me while I was making some scones: Didn't the padre visit Estela at one point to encourage her to come clean about what happened with Gina? I thought he knew, too, about Ignacia's paternity.
I didn't recap any episodes back then so I can't look it up. I save all the recaps I do in case I have a question.
MARIDO
Saving recaps comes in handy. Yes, I myself wrote that Max exchanged his bike for a less expensive model. Good for Susana. Rafa is too busy getting it on with Amalia. Take advantage of this girl!
Sue-Beth-Deb-jlk:
I think the Padre knows Mariano is not the father of Iggy. He tried to convince Estela to come clean awhile ago but she sneered at him. We got the impression, as Estela gazed lovingly at Enrique's picture, that he was from a lower social class...
Mariano has said the reason he left home when the kids were small was Estela threatened to have him thrown in jail on some trumped-up charge.
"Just eat the taco, Iggy!"
jlk, that was a cute scene with Iggy and the taco...but, I think it was a tripe taco, so maybe that's why she looked queasy.
J in Oregon
Sue-Deb-jlk-JinO:
And, to state the obvious, Estela never told AA about Iggy's paternity. That lady knows how to keep a secret! I do hope Enrique makes an appearance.
Yes - it was a tripe taco - yuck! But why couldn't Iggy just order something else? Strange scene.
Beth
Yeah I guess I wouldn't eat tripe tacos either, I much prefer tacos al pastor or barbarcoa. Hmmmm, now I'm hungry.
jlk
