TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Week of September 30, 2013

Good morning, Telemundies!  Here's your new page for the week.  Enjoy!

Comments:
SANTA - NovelaM, Thanks for starting up the page... I will be the first to say I am sooo curious about who is in the basement. I hope they don't end the episode without revealing who it is!

SANTA

Hi Mena. The writers could drag the basement reveal out for days. Love your party line!

Beth

Beth - Thanks, the retro party line gave me a laugh. : ) I first used it when I gave a presentation at a conference about some communications software I use in my work. I liked the irony in comparison.

SANTA

So not about the story but a question: How would you refer to a black person in Mexico? Mara and her mother say "nuestra color" or "nuestra raza", but if you wanted to refer to another person, what would be the proper, non-Hortensia way? As in "Give this paperwork to Steve over there, the black guy" (assuming everyone else is a different race). Saying African-American in Spanish seems like a lot of syllables, so would "Esteve, el hombre negro" be acceptable? Or is there a better term?

Just curious.

Kelly

DYO

Ultimas Semanas. Seems like it just started.

DyO

Ultimas Semanas! Are ratings that bad?

Josie

DyO
Ultimas Semanas? Are they kidding?
Well, here are a few comments for Monday:
Iggy and Pedro have their "date" at a bar; Iggy redeems herself by doing tequila shots and dancing. Later, they go to a luxury hotel room to finish things off, so to speak. Yep. They do.

Next morning Mariano informs Iggy that she is forbidden from having anything to do with Pedro. She is not impressed and refuses to listen to anything more he has to say.

Isabel confides to Gema that she was "with" JM last night after driving him home from the bar. He made a drunken pass at her, but she knows he is in love with Iggy. Later, JM shows up at the obra and confesses his feelings to Iggy. She is impactada and can hardly take him seriously.

Gema finds a card from the pole-dance "club" where Angel was hanging out with his buddy. She asks Angel if the girls there can make good money without sleeping with the clients. (Oh no!)

Marge is still heartbroken and depressed over Oleg's departure. She is refusing to continue her medical therapy.

Neto goes to Tomas' office and demands to know if Tomas has intentions towards Mireya. He explains respectfully that he has always loved Mireya and would give his life for her. Tomas offers to have Neto thrown out of his office but Neto stands his ground until he finishes saying his piece.

Mariano shows up at Casa Perez just as Pedro is leaving for work. Gina comes out of the house, and Mariano insists they tell Pedro the truth. Pedro rightly thinks Mariano is going to try to warn him off Iggy yet again, and leaves for work. Mariano confronts Gina, tells her he knows Pedro is his son, and furiously asks why she kept this from him, and more importantly, why they haven't told Pedro the truth in order to stop his relationship with Iggy. Gina's whiney excuses sounded pretty thin even to me.

I'm sure I've missed a lot...anyone else?

DyO

Ultimas Semanas! It seems like this UN-revealing story has been going on forever.

J in O - thanks for the mini. I could only watch part of tonight's show, so what you have looks pretty good to me.

Now that Pedro and Iggy have done the deed, someone will tell them they're hermanos, and they'll be horrified for the next 2 weeks. Maybe Pedro will even take Gina's money and go to Europe to get away from Iggy. If Estela has kept her secret for 20+ years, it will take a life or death (hers!) situation to get her to fess up.

Our feisty little squirrel is not the quickest animal in the East LA jungle. Going into the lion's den and demanding answers from Nomas was not Neto's smartest move. I wonder how the bachelor party will turn out.

Yeah - Gina's whining and using Marge as her excuse for withholding the truth sounded lame to me.

MARIDO - MONDAY

PART 1/3

I might have missed some scenes, the link I found went black a couple of times. Feel free to insert whatever it is that I didn’t mention.

TC and Pati struggle on the stairs, but Pati DOES NOT fall, she manages to free herself, while TC flashes back to the way she killed the Mafioso.
Pati is very scared, she thinks TC tried to push her in order to kill the baby; Ro witnesses the whole scene, Pati asks him to acknowledge her accusation, but would he ever go against TC? Not in this lifetime.

Rei and Simon are shopping for the restaurant, they talk about the Pati situation. Simon seems mildly interested, but nothing out of the ordinary, so I, too, wonder, what was that scene between him and Pati a few months ago.
Rei also mentions how connected he feels with Gris, even if they come from different worlds and how good that makes him feel. And since they are at the market and each is carrying a bag of groceries, it’s time for some gossip: Simon heard a rumor about Gris being engaged with Gabe, is that true? No, it’s not, Rei happily explains.

And here is Gabe, at the taco bar, still upset and despechado. Clara thinks they need help now that Q is no longer coming, but Gabe takes his frustration out on her and they quarrel a little.

Barbie is at the hotel, ordering a cocktail, when Marcela arrives. They squabble a little over giving an interview and then the waiter comes with the drink and asks Barbie to pay upfront, because they no longer accept credit for their room. Barbie gets upset, Marcela seizes the opportunity to mention that Max bough a life insurance – in case something were to happen to him, Barbie would be a rich woman.
At first I didn’t understand what Marcela intends to do, but her plan is quite good - she calls Max to let him know she talked to Barbie about the life insurance, she thinks Barbie will change her mind about letting him fight when she finds out that his possible death would bring her a ton of money. Max refuses to believe this, so Marcela proposes a deal: if Barbie tells Max that he should fight, after all, then Max will give Marcela the interview she wants; if not, Marcela will leave Max alone.
And what do you know, as soon as Max is back at the hotel, Barbie tells him that he should fight, after all, because he is a champion and a winner and so on and so forth. They hug but we can see how upset Max is because his wife wouldn’t actually mind seeing him die if that meant she’d be able to cash in his life insurance after that. True love!

MARIDO - MONDAY

PART 2/3

Alba calls Esther, gives her the green light for the insemination. After, she thinks about how Beatriz will have her baby with Guillermo, after all. This is a mess (and a custody battle) waiting to happen.
Esther is very happy, she calls Beatriz to share the good news. Bea tries to be happy, but she’s obviously sad that she can’t have her in vitro baby, too. Later on, they toast for Esther’s new child.
JP is at Fina Estampa, finds out Marcela called him a few times… I love his “couldn’t care less” face, because he’s hot no matter what faces he makes. TRUTH!

Pati rushes to Gris’ house to talk to her, but she can’t find her. She chats with Jose briefly, but then she leaves.
Gris is at the taco bar, trying to smooth things over with Gabe. He’s still upset and hurt and whatnot… Pati comes to tell her that she can’t live with her mom anymore, she agrees to come stay with Gris when she moves to the new house. Gris promises her unconditional help and after Pati leaves she mentions to Gabe how some people don’t deserve to be parents.

Tony tries to talk with Pati’s girlfriends, but they both brush him off. Once he’s back at the posada, he realizes Pati has already taken her clothes and left. Bohooo… I can’t stand him.

Amalia is visiting Rafa, kiss, kiss, she has to go, he’ll visit tonight. After Amalia is gone, Susana comes to ask him when is the breakup happening? Never, that’s when, Rafa loves Amalia, he couldn’t care less about Susana, so there is that!
Susana is furious, she plots another plan to stick it to Rafa and this time she doesn’t get sidetracked.
She goes to Amalia and tells her about Rafa’s shaddy business with the mottos, and brings Leo, too, to back up her story. Amalia is destroyed, I think she breaks up with Rafa (that’s what she tells the family the next day), but that’s one of the moments the screen went black, so I didn’t see the actual break-up scene.

At the restaurant, we find out Simon is divorced, it took him a while to take the decision, but bottom line, when the love ends, there is no point in forcing something that is no longer there. This makes Rei think… hm…

MARIDO - MONDAY

PART 3/3

Elsa thinks they should tell Rei what happened between Pati and TC in the morning, but Ro is forever kissing his reina del Nilo’s butt, he wants them to keep mum. (SHUT UP, RO!)

Jose and Elio talk about the fortune hidden in the house, wonder how long it will take Gris to move so they can start digging.

Pati comes to talk to her dad, meets Vanesa, who scolds her for not getting in touch or something. Simon is around, too, looking on.
Pati doesn’t tell her dad what happened in the morning, I guess she doesn’t want to cause even more problems for her parents, but she decided to stay with Gris and until she can move into the new house, she’ll stay with Esther.
With her aunt she does talk about the conflict with TC. Esther thinks it’s good that she didn’t tell Rei anything, yet, maybe she misunderstood TC, but Pati is sure of what her mother tried to do, even Ro saw it, but he’d never say anything against TC.

Ivan and Diosa chat on line, Ivan thinking he’s talking with Paloma.
Q wants to spend the night in Clara’s bed, she pretends to be upset that he didn’t ask her to go for a walk or something, instead. He agrees with that, too, but never mind, she wants him in her bed, too. Glad to know someone is having fun in this show.

Again, my screen went black, so I missed whatever Rei and TC talked the next morning. After he leaves, Elsa comes to work; she’s a little late because there was a drainage problem at her place. This gives TC the great idea to try something similar at Gris’ new house. She asks Ro to act like a man for once in his life and together they go across the street, convince the workers that she is the owner and manages to get inside the house to cause a sh!t of trouble (pun intended).

At breakfast Q wants to know how much longer it will take for the documents that Barbie needs to sign to be ready. Soon enough, Gris reassures him, it’s taking so long because she asked the lawyer to treat the issue with great care.

Iris comes for her meeting with Gris. She’s sure she’ll be able to steal Gris’ fortune in no time, but both Gris and Celeste are very serious when she arrives. If Iris thinks Gris is an easy target….she has another thing coming.

Pati is back at the posada (maybe she didn’t pack her stuff, yet?) and Tony barges in, demanding to talk to her. Jerk!

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Adriana. Yes, the scene you missed was Amalia breaking up with Rafa. She was very firm and very clear with him, and physically threw him out of the house. Yay! For a second when she first said to Rafa that Susana told her everything, you could see the fear go across his face that she had told Amalia about them having sex. It wasn't much better that she had exposed his shady business, but would have been so much worse had she mentioned the sex too.

I can't stand that Ro is protecting TC when she nearly pushed Pati down the stairs.

SANTA- part 1
I will do a quickie recap of Monday's episode from memory to get us started for the week.

After being surprised while moving the bookcase that conceals the door to the basement, Vicente gives Ines vague reasons for being there - he wanted to be alone, etc.
He shoos her out and calls a locksmith to change the locks for the house.

Samanda confronts Babs about the identity of the innocent person that George said that the family killed. Babs protests that George is a drunk. Samanda keeps pushing until Santi calls her off and tells her to leave his mommy alone.

Horti insults Collin and Elisa and thows them out of her house. Then she goes to the police station and tells Pancho about their visit. He tells her that he can't arrest people for being offensive. Horti replies that she doesn't want Elisa to be arrested, she wants her to suffer the same grief that she has had to suffer - the loss of a child. She offers Pancho money to kill Mara. Pancho points out that he is the chief of police but Horti focuses on the money. Finally, Pancho agrees to hire someone to do it.

The Padre is at the police station. He asks to make a call. He calls Samanda and tells her that the body in the woods has been found. He tells her to come to the police station and confess everything.

Samanda tells Paula that Ricardo is dead and maybe she killed him. Samanda is confused by Paula's reaction - did she like the guy?
Then we find out that the woman who came to offer money to Bert's law firm is part of their plan of vengeance. She is an actress who has assumed the identity of a real rich widow whose husband knew Vicente.

Patricio suggests to Vicki that maybe Pancho isn't such a good guy. Vicki defends him.

Pancho goes to the bar and puts a chill on the festivities. Patricio watches while the hires a guy to kil Mara and make it look like an accident.

Then Patricio follows Pancho and sees him supervising a delivery of women to the bar. He confronts Pancho and tells him that he knows that Pancho is involved in the trafficking of women.

Big letdown on the cellar dweller. Ines DREAMS that she goes in the basement and finds her mother. She goes downstairs and finds Carlos. She asks him what he remembers about their mother and does he wonder if she might be alive somewhere.

Bert tells the family about Gaspar's financial problems. He says that they may have to leave the house. Babs states that she will never leave the house where she raised her children, etc.

Santa Diabla:

One correction, Jean: it was Arturo who saved Mara and was hit by the car, etc.

That said...Hortensia, Zod, and Patricio all need appointments with R la O's knife-throwing machine ASAP. I'm still not digging how front-loaded this show is WRT the villains' overall successes, the odd speedbump such as G-Cano's will notwithstanding.

Thanks, Bill. I have have a problem keeping Arturo and Ivan apart.

SANTA- part 2 (corrected)

Daniela goes to see Ivan to pour out her troubles. He tells her about his campaign to expose Patricio. Their conversation gives Ivan an idea. He calls the guy to whom Patricio owes money that Ivan met outside the aunt's house in New Orleans. He tells him that Patricio lives in Marrero and gives him the address.

Arturo goes to see Mara. They leave the cafe together. The hired killer tries to hit with his car. Arturo pushes Mara away and is hit instead.

Bert quizzes Vicente about the woman who came to the law firm and tells him that he is going to accept her offer of money.

Horti is inconsolable at the hosptial. Arturo is in surgery. The doctor comes out – Arturo will live but may never walk again!!!
Bert is making is special drugged tea for Samanda when Santi comes into the kitchen. Santi tells Bert that in light of what has happened, his wedding with Ines is on hold. Santi wants to protest his mommy.

Samanda ditches the tea, lies down and pretends to be asleep.

On the lighter side: Mara's Marrero driver's license. Seriously? The production designers are bonkers on this show. :)

Santa
correction, Horti goes to see Carlos, not Pancho. I still have hope that Pancho is a good guy, of which they are few in this TN.

So happy to see that at least cellar dweller has a toilet. If the cd can hear Vicente & Inez talking, they s/b able to hear him, why not yell? I do see that he is chained. Inez dreamed about the door behind the bookcase but I didn't think she saw it.

Although I hate to see Arturo hurt, Horti deserves that, (poetic justice), but in her craziness, she blames Mara.

SANTA:

Thanks for the recap, Jean. I didn't see the episode yet (football), but it sounds really exciting!

Just to make sure we all know:
Carlos: Chief of Police, bad guy, dark hair beard but no mustache
Pancho: Good cop, brother of Ines, Lucy's ex-boyfriend, light hair, clean shaven face
Ivan: 18 year old son of Lisette, earnest, crew cut
Arturo: 40 year old son of Hortensia, big and strong, always has a smirk on his face

Santa,

thanks so much Jean!

interesting scene with Santa and Francisca, Santa kept pushing, but Santiago stepped in, because she is my mother, as Santa takes a step back, you ARE a Cano,

wow, I was amazed at how quick it took Hortensia to cut a deal with Carlos, to kill Mara, not much pretense here,

it was amazing, the chill in the air when Carlos arrived at the Trebol de Oro, both Lucy and Patricio watching him hire a killer.

I was hoping Ivan would stay in New Orleans to see that lady leave and once again talk to the aunt, and then when he got an idea, I thought he might go back, but no he calls the bad guy that was staking out Patricio's house, I'm not sure if Marrero needs another bad guy,

is anyone getting the idea that Patricio is a do-gooder, even if it kills everyone, he even grabbed on to Transito, poor girl caught in the middle,

so we saw the cellar dweller, long curly black hair and in chains,

so cute, Humberto bringing Santa her nightly drugged tea, they smile at each other like young lovers, and while Humberto gets ready for bed, Santa chucks the tea off the balcony, not tonight dear, (this should be good)

MARIDO

Great recap, Adriana. Many thanks. And thanks, too, for "despechado," a word I'm surprised I didn't know, given how useful I suspect it will be. :-)

I probably missed the explanation for Alba's not wanting Beatriz to use her dead husband's sperm to make a baby, but it makes no sense to me, and even less sense (yes, less than none :-) ) when Alba is willing to let Esther use Beatriz's eggs and the husband's sperm for her own IVF baby. I totally agree, Adriana, that "This is a mess (and a custody battle) waiting to happen."

SANTA

Thanks very much, Jean, for the recap. Let me add one more correction: Babs is Humberto and Santiago's sister, while Francisca is their mother. Mostly when you referred to Babs, you should have said Francisca.

So Ivan is inviting another bad guy to the Bad Guy Convention in Marerro. The more the murkier. I just hope Ivan makes it out of this telenovela safely: he's one of the very few characters I like.

Santa
Carlos has his own reasons for wanting to off Mara. She knows he is the one that attacked her.

Didn't Santa tell Santi that she knew or suspected Francisca, Babs & Daniela for being in on the plot to set up Will Sr.

SANTA:
Wow! This must be a new record. I got just about every name wrong except the main male and female leads. Sorry for the confusion. I don't know why I can't keep the names of the characters straight. IF I write another recap, I'll try and do better.

CHECKING IN

Hola!! I'm finally settled here in Honduras and back. on. line. I have about a week and half's worth of catching up to do on Santa and DYO (Ultimas Semanas???), and I haven't had a chance to catch up with recaps, so guess who's not leaving the house today?

Great to be back! Still don't think I'll be able to do much recapping, and not sure how my connection will handle streaming, but I'm definitely in for commenting!

Jean - Thanks for the recap and given that all us making comments knew where to tweak the story, you got the story line right.

I got a big grin when Ivan went into street slang mode over the phone with the guy Patricio owes money to. He is so clean cut, even he was chuckling to himself.

Re: the tea, I kept thinking that Santi was going to say something about it or someone was going to ask for a sip before Bert left the kitchen. The camera and Santi's eyes kept going back to it.

Kelly: Maybe everyone can create a language convention to call everyone "Bruddha" like Ivan did when he was on the phone. No ethnic distinctions needed, voila!

Last comment, IMO Elisa showed questionable judgement dragging the fireman / cop to Hortensia's house just to smoosh her face into the truth. The fireman / cop was the one who ended up getting unnecessarily offended.

DyO
Wow, greetings, AnotherAmy! Glad you are settled in and hope all is well. Yah, I am pretty surprised about the Ultimas Semanas thing, and haven't seen any previews for the upcoming replacement. Are they pulling the plug early on DyO, anyone?
J in Oregon

MARIDO

Juanita - I don't think Alba has much choice. Esther chose the donors anonymously who just happened to be Guillermo and Beatriz. They are supposed to remain anonymous so Alba can't tell Esther who they really are. What does not make sense to me is why Beatriz donated her eggs in the first place.

MARIDO:

Thanks for the recap, Adriana!

Finally, Amalia gets the truth about Rafa!

I don't see why even Alba needed to know the identities of the donors. Maybe even she could have coded them, and not seen the names. But this way, I'm sure the secret will come out one day.

I liked when Quiquito called his abuela Grisi :)

The writers can't seem to make up their minds with Barb. First she's bad, then good, now bad again. Okay, I guess she's always wanted money. But she does have real feelings for her son, and I still thought she had real feelings for Max. This sudden reversal for the life insurance didn't ring true for me.

MARIDO

Mauricio, I understand that Alba can't tell Esther who the donors are, and, like you, I find it puzzling that Beatriz donated her eggs. But what really puzzles me is why Alba didn't want Beatriz to become inseminated with Guillermo's sperm.

SANTA:

Another mystery may come out soon, since Santiago is looking up Ines's lifelong doctor. He may shed some light on whether Ines was pregnant before.

Although Bert seems to have fallen for the act of the actress playing Diana, who's going to "save the law firm", we learned that the real woman is still alive. So it's possible Bert could still find out this was a trick.

Although Patricio and Lucy saw Carlos talk to the guy who later crashed his car into Arturo, I don't think they could hear what was happening. But of course Pat then watched the new shipment of woman being brought in by Carlos, and even confronted Transito. He wants to get revenge on Carlos, and was mad that Vicky thought Carlos was so perfect. Too perfect, he thought. Pat and Carlos are both bad, and one of them is bound to end up doing away with the other.

I won't be surprised if Santa goes to prison, at least for a while, as Pancho continues to bark up the wrong trees.

SANTA

Hombre, I agree with you about the likelihood of Santa winding up in jail, at least for a while, for the murder of Ricardo (or whatever his name was). I thought so from the minute she picked up the gun.

My guess is that Santi may be especially motivated to help her, not just because he loves her but also because he knows what it's like to wake up next to a corpse and be accused of the murder.

MARIDO:

Alba's thinking at first about Beatriz not having Guillermo's baby made sense. She felt that Bea's grief was too fresh, and she was making a rash decision that would change the rest of her life. But once Bea decided to donate her eggs anyway (which doesn't make any sense), then Alba should have just said ok to letting her get inseminated with Gui's sperm.

It also makes no sense that Gui's sperm is in the general sperm donor pool. He had his sperm harvested because of a cancer scare. As far as I know, from friends who have experienced this, that sperm can only be used by that man and his partner, or however he chooses to use that sperm. They can't just put it out there to the general population. He wasn't donating sperm. He was banking it.

Hombre- As for Barb, I see your point, but I don't think it's just about the money. I think Barb is choosing between Kikito and Max, and Kikito won. She can have Max, give up Kikito, and get money from Gris. Or she can lose Max (via death), get the insurance money, and try to establish a relationship with Kikito. Notice that money is always in the mix, but so is someone she loves.

DyO

At first I was surprised DyO is in its ultimas semanas (usually 2 months left?). I thought it must be getting cut short due to poor ratings. The Chile version was 189 episodes. But I just realized their episodes are under 30 minutes (minus commercials). So if you do the math, both versions are averaging the same air time.

Josie

DYO

Wow, the JMvisabel make-out scene was even better than the big Pednacia moment... those two (JMI) are hot together, even though he was drunk and doesn't remember any of it...

So here's how I see this playing out... Isabel is pregnant, and when JM finally finds out it was him (which will be drawn out for, oh, a couple weeks maybe? Isabel won't want to tell him because she won't want to burden him and knows the news will make him feel terrible), he will feel guilty and do his daddy duty and eventually fall out of love with Iggy and into love with Izzy.

I really need Iggy to lose the Dynasty hair. She did the big deed with Pedro and didn't even take out her headband. Not a fan of that style, AT. ALL.

Robot word: tartibu (Gema's stage name at the strip club)

DYO

Can I just say that I am so disappointed in the turn Gema's character seems to be taking once again? I had such high hopes for her as a feisty construction worker, and now it appears that Miss Too-Good-For-Phone-Sex-Job is considering a career change de nuevo as tabolera... BOO, writers!

Marido

this really isn't my kind of story, but I have been tagging along because Perla Farias is one of my favorite writers, she is really a master at developing individual characters and creating a story from a composite of everyone.

anyway, I was really moved tonight by the scene where Griselda went to Amalia's room, who was sitting alone, door closed, quiet, still shaken by her new revelations and breakup with Rafa, Griselda sat down next to her, rested Amalia's head on her shoulder all the while softly saying, "you don't have to say anything, just allow me to sit next to you, I just want you to know that you are not alone, that you will never be alone, we are family",

and Amalia said nothing, resting quietly against her mother.

DyO

so good to see your posts again AnotherAmy,
say, any tidbits from Honduras that you wish to pass along,
simple things even, like weather,
I'm all ears,
I'm amazed at what you are doing.

MARIDO Tuesday

part 1

At the posada Tony and Pati talk about their baby – he still doesn’t want to have it. Pati tells him she’ll move in with Gris and for a moment he believes that means they’ll live together. No, Pati explains, you’re out! This makes him mad, he advices Pati not to pack her things just yet, because he’s going to have a talk with his mom.
After this scene, if Pati ever gets back together with Tony, she is an idiot. In the past he’s always treated her well, lies included, but today, when he realized that because of her he might lose his “rightful place” in the new mansion, the place where he should have always lived (his words, not mine), he really lets her have it. I hope Pati never gives this bum the time of day ever again.

Gris and Celeste interview Iris for the secretary job. They ask her to talk about her CV, the stuff that she knows how to do; although she’s a little vexed to be asked such things, Iris starts to babble about some imaginary skills, making Gris and Celeste roll their eyes.
Finally, Gris decides to put Iris to the test, by explaining that what she actually needs is someone to take care of the house – so, how about if Iris started ironing some clothes and then prepared something to eat, too.
Iris is on the verge of fainting with indignation, but she plays along until she’s left alone with the chores.
Enter Jose, who agrees to do everything for her (living on his own, he became quite the housekeeper), provided he gets 50% of whatever Iris manages to steal from Gris. Trato echo!
When Gris and Celeste come back they see that everything they asked Iris to do is done, the food included, so Gris has no other option than hire Iris as her secretary.

TC and Ro have managed to sneak into Gris’ new house and they stuff the toilets with rags. Now the house is all set for the new owners to arrive.

JP and Esther are at Fina Estampa, picking fabrics for their new collection. Esther asks JP to feel a silky sample, their hands touch for a moment…is it hot in here? They try to hide their emotion by talking about Pati, but who can EVER resist JP? (Esther is not bad, either). They end up in a steamy embrace and go at it on their precious fabrics table.
(Here is a wild thought: Esther gets inseminated in a couple of days: what if JP is not completely sterile and her eggs are not all rotten? What if they managed to conceive their own baby today? They’ll both think the insemination worked and JP will never know he is the real father – until the last episode, that is. That’s the way telenovelas work, why else would they sleep together just now, days before the insemination?)
Anyway, after the love making, JP asks Esther to give up the baby ideas for their love; and she asks him to accept the baby for their love, too. So, we’re nowhere near closer to reconciliation.

Bea and Alba talk about Bea finally accepting that Guillermo is dead and out of her life forever. She also understands why she shouldn’t have his baby. Alba looks concerned.

MARIDO Tuesday

Part 2

Amalia is in her room, sad, when Gris comes to comfort her – no talking, just a hug and Amalia should know that she’ll always have her family. Nice, touching moment.

Rafa is desperately searching for Leo, to settle scores with him, but Clara knows nothing about her son’s whereabouts.

Tony scolds his mother for rejecting him once again – she never forgave him for inventing a fake mom and this is her revenge. She reminds him that he was the one to conceive the baby that is now taking his place in the new house; and a son is always a bendicion (I know this is the way telenovelas always go, but having a baby while you’re still a student is not something to cheer on – I agree with Tony that the last thing he and Pati need now is a baby, but the way he goes about it is so wrong and hateful and it makes him more obnoxious every day.)
Anyway, Gris says that she forgave Tony for what he did, but he feels her perdon is more of a castigo than anything else. He leaves and Gris is left heartbroken, thinking about how she promised Pati a place in her house, sans Tony.

Montage of time passing:

-Iris and Mario are taking care of the furniture being delivered to Gris’ house; TC watches from her window, Rei acknowledges the move, too, he looks confused

-JP and the other employees talk business; but when Esther comes in, he leaves

-Probably feeling chased away from work, Esther finds a new place to hang out, the Taco Bar, where Gabe kind of gives her a once over when he sees her!!! Just the other day we were talking about Gabe getting another woman, but Esther was the last person I could have imagined!!! Esther and Gabe? Talk about a downgrade (no offense to Gabe, but come on!)

-Gris and Celeste’s new Coffee Laundromat is ready for business – a new hangout place, YEY!

-Rafa keeps coming to Amalia’s, with sad, puppy eyes, but she won’t forgive him – and she doesn’t even know the worst part, the Susana factor

-Paty is alone, at school, thinking about her baby

-Gris buys Q a brand new red car

MARIDO Tuesday

Part 3

A month later

The Carrascos are ready to move in, Gris has finally decided to let her hair loose on her back. TC is ready to enjoy the surprise she set up for Gris; she and Ro have a telescope in TC’s bedroom, so they can spy on “la otra” better (from now on I think that’s how they’ll call one another).

The new house looks great, just like any other rich telenovela house. Gris places the virgencita in an honorary spot, near the stairs, while everybody else oohhs and uuuhhhs about the beauty of the mansion.
Mario is there, too, Gris tells Iris they’ll have to talk about the secretary needing a secretary, but that’s for later. Iris needs to use the bathroom, so does little Q.

Barbie has another fight with Marcela, she slaps her good.
Vanesa asks for a raise and then tries to make a move on Rei, almost kissing him. We’re spared of the nausea of actually seeing them lock lips, but she was too close! Could Rei stop being so passive about it now?

Alone with Paloma and Celeste, Gris shows them a big bag of money – the 5 mill that Barbie asked in cash; apparently today is the big pay day.
For a moment I was afraid Iris will get her hands on the money, but it doesn't look like thiw will happen.

Sure enough, when Iris and Q flush the toilets, a lot of water (and some other nasty, smelly stuff) burst out. Screaming ensues, while TC’s super telescope can see what is happening through the walls of Gris’ house and she and Ro enjoy the havoc very much, celebrating it with champagne.
Elsa sees them and goes to tell Gris who planned the mess. Gris has already figured out that much on her own, since she herself checked the entire house before buying it. She quickly fixes the problem, by putting on her overalls again and then she gathers all the nasty rags that TC had shoved in her toilets and takes them over to TC’s house. They quarrel a little, like always and then Gris throws the stinky fabrics on TC’s bed. Ro is in charge with the cleaning.

Back at the house, Gris is ready to “welcome” Barbie, who has come for her money. But if she actually takes it is another question – today is Max’s fight – he either dies, making her rich or he wins, making her rich again. If he doesn’t die and doesn’t win either, then Barbie has a problem.

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Adriana. Barbie certainly has some tough choices to make about how she'll get money and hang on to the ones she loves.

I was really worried about Iris stealing the money, since we saw her stealing Gris' stuff already. How long does she think she can fool Gris when she doesn't know how to do anything?

Deb- I also really liked that scene between Amalia and Gris. I'm glad Amalia is staying firm.

Adriana- ITA about Pati now that she's seen the real Tony. He was at his worst in that scene. He would need a major personality transplant to ever be worthy of her. I really hope Gris does not allow anyone to make her feel guilty about letting the hardworking mother of her grandchild to move in, rather than her ungrateful son. It's not like she isn't already paying for his housing and investing in his future.

SANTA DIABLA, Martes, Part 1

Lots of excitement. Drama. Violence. Curious coincidences. Our show continues to titillate, horrify and amuse, despite the amount of beanie tightening required.

We begin with Samanda, having tossed the tea out the window, feigning sleep, and Bert cuddles up to her. She has to remain motionless as he starts caressing her, saying, Amanda, I can’t help myself, I shouldn’t be doing this. He’s acting very loving, and just when it seems he’s going to maybe molest her in her sleep, he says, I can’t do it. And leaves. The next day, Sam tells her Mom, I know it’s crazy, but I think Bert really has true feelings for me. He may be in love with me. I’m not comfortable with that. Why not? replies Begoña. This is the best thing ever. You’ve won his confidence. This is great for the plan. But I know why you’re upset. It’s Santiago. You don’t want Bert showing you affection with Santi living here. Well, FORGET about Santiago. It’s an impossible love. Sam isn’t convinced.

Inés isn’t convinced about the cabaña. Although Vicente tells her nothing’s hidden there, she thinks maybe her mother is. So she goes back, but he’s changed the locks. She confronts her Daddy again, you wouldn’t lie to me, would you? Of course not, honey, he lies. Inés also asks Pancho if he thinks their mother is still alive, but he says no way, I was at the funeral, even though I was a kid.

Pancho has several other things on his plate, anyway. He’s called Padre Milton into the station, and the Padre won’t reveal his source, so he lets him go. He meets with Lucy, and she tells him that when Carlos came into the brothel, all the girls were scared to death again, even Transito. Pancho is surprised, thought Carlos was sort of Transito’s friend. Then Lucy observed Carlos talking to a guy who looked like a killer. She couldn’t hear anything, but Carlos showed the guy a folder, and a picture of someone, no, she couldn’t see who it was, but some deal was going down. She says to Pancho, are you really so sure your boss is such a saint?

After finding out that Arturo is paralyzed, Elisa gives Horti a glass of water, but she throws it in Elisa’s face, and barrages her with racial insults again. Elisa and Mara leave the hospital. Mara goes to the police station, and in front of Pancho and others, proclaims she’s SURE that Carlos had something to do with the car which hit Arturo! Pancho asks his boss is it true, and Carlos says of course not. But Pancho wonders some more.

Bert gathers the family together to give them the bad news. Gaspar had taken out 15 separate million dollar loans, betting on some stocks, losing, and now the debts have to be paid, or they lose the house. Fran is despondent, crying in her bedroom. Santi wants to cheer her up, but she say the house is EVERYTHING to her. If she has to leave, she’ll KILL herself.

SANTA DIABLA, Part 2

George meets with Alexander Wayne, the Texas “real estate tycoon”. They agree to do their deal. I’m not sure what’s going on here, I think George is investing money, Alexander will buy some Texas properties, and sell them for a quick profit. But what money does George have to invest? I also wonder if Alexander is some kind of set up. But there’s no real proof of that.

We DO know that Diana Cooper is a set up. She meets with Bert and Vicente, acting as if her husband was close to Vicente, although he’s told Bert he hardly knew the guy. Vicente asks about Hugo’s golf, and Diana says he adored golf (this may have been a trap question). But in the end, Bert agrees to have Diana enter the firm as their new partner and financial savior, takes her check, and she leaves (but not before she and Paula hear Inés ranting to Vicente about someone being hidden in the cabaña!). Paula tells Sam the trap is set, for the whole Cano empire to come down. As for the cabaña, we know that Santi has been there. So if Paula eventually brings this up with Santi.....

Santi also visits Inés’ lifelong doctor, Sergio Gómez. Santi identifies himself as Inés’ fiancé, and ask about her earlier pregnancy. The doc has called Vicente in the meantime, who tells him exactly what to say. Which is, Inés was never pregnant, and she imagines things. Vicente also threatens to turn Inés over to the doctor “like before”’, and she doesn’t like that idea ONE BIT.

Patricio has observed the new shipment of undocumented girls/enslaved women being delivered to the brother with Carlos in charge. He confronts Transito, takes her to her room, and says you know all about this! Please don’t talk, she pleads. He tells her he won’t talk, but his price for silence is HER, whenever he wants! He proceeds to rip her clothes off, and violently rapes her! Then he tells her if you thought Carlos was bad, I’m WORSE! So keep your mouth shut, or I’ll KILL you! Later, Lucy asks Transito, what’s with those bruises, they’re new. Transito admits they were from another guy, who’s even worse than the one who beat her up before! Lucy wants her to spill the beans, but Transito is terrified.

SANTA Part 3

Back at Vicky’s house, the doorbell rings. Vicky is cooking, so she asks a reluctant Pat (back from raping Transito) to get the door. It’s the rough pony-tail guy from New Orleans, who holds a knife to Pat’s throat, demanding his money! Pat says let’s talk away from the house, and they move away. Pat says you’ll get your money, I just got a lead on this traffic in women operation, and there’s lots of dough to be made. Meanwhile, Iván is observing from afar, but can’t hear. However, Vicky wonders where Pat is, opens the door, and is just in time to hear Pony-Tail say “Why should I trust you? You’re so crazy, you even cut up your own side to make that scar!” Vicky is hit with this like a ton of bricks. Iván was telling the truth. As Pat and Pony-Tail go somewhere to discuss further strategy, Vicky walks outside, Iván surprises her, and they KISS, overwhelmed with passion. Iván says they can’t fight this, they have to flee. What about my brother Carlos? Iván says he’s a cop, he can defend himself from that rat Patricio. So they’re going to leave. Iván says he’ll send an email. Shortly thereafter, as she’s packing, Vicky’s computer beeps. It says “meet me at the dock in two hours. I love you. Iván” (or something like that). A big smile comes over Vicky’s face. Until Pat walks in, the computer is still open, and he says, why are you packing? Noooooo!!!

And that’s not all of the Noooo!!! Samanda has had the teacup analyzed by a lab, the results will be back soon. She goes to the church. Padre Milton says let’s talk in the back room. Sam takes a call, hears that the lab did find a substance in the teacup, and it’s illegal. She goes into the back room. Up pops Pancho, who was just waiting there. Sam tells Padre Milton that even though they found that body, she’s not going to confess. But Pancho has different ideas, placing Sam under arrest for suspicion of murder!

SANTA

"...you wouldn’t lie to me, would you? Of course not, honey, he lies."

So many conversations in this show could be summarized like this! Thank you so much, Hombre, for continuing to "titillate, horrify and amuse" us with your recaps.

And a late thank you to Jean for yesterday's recap. (I had to giggle at all the name confusion -- I suspect you have a few gazillion other things on your mind. You got the story right and that's what matters.)

My name is NovelaMaven and I am a Santa Diabla addict. There. I've said it.

:D

MARIDO:

Great recap, Adriana. Your idea that JP and Ester could have made a baby is brilliant! I also liked your other observations.

Not only is Gris's hair down, it's very nicely styled, and she has much more makeup on (she was already beautiful, but now she's stunning). So no makeover was needed, I guess the extra money just sort of upgraded her look during the montage period.

I loved Iris's job interview when she said have you two heard of Vassar College? Gris and Celeste said, oh, Vassar College!....Never heard of it!

I'm also worried about the $5 million in cash sitting there.

At least Vanessa realized she was crossing the line. After almost kissing Rei, she got embarrassed, and as she stumbled out, she said you may as well fire me now. But sensitive Rei won't.

This is from the day before, but I don't like Diosa pretending to be Paloma to match her up with Ivan. Good intentions, but to me, this kind of computer thing is a no no.

Marido

Thanks for both Monday and Tuesday recaps, Adriana!

Here's the missing Rei-TC scene from Monday: Reinaldo and TC are at breakfast. It looks all very serene, but then she brings up the fact that Patty didn't sleep in the house last night. Rei asks how she expected Patty to react when she put a dead rat in her breakfast. (I'm glad he's bringing this up again. This was such a bizarre thing to do and--after the initial shock--it seemed as if they had dismissed it as just one more of TC's hi-jinks.) He tells her he's losing his patience, and he's going to tell her the truth: "Ya estoy cansado de luchar por lo nuestro.. Y lo peor del caso es que ya no me quedan ganas." He's tired of fighting to save their relationship, and the worst of it is that he doesn't want to any more.

Hombre, I loved Griselda's new look as well. It's great to have Sonya Smith's natural elegance on display. (And I liked the idea that she just naturally picked up the hair and make-up and styling techniques with a little more time and money on her hands, and we didn't have to have a big make-over scene.) The only thing missing was Reinaldo seeing her and falling at her feet.

I do wonder about the Diosa/Ivan/Paloma business. If they're going with the classic Cyrano/Roxane/Christian trope, then Ivan should end up falling for Diosa, but I don't see that happening.

And, Adriana, I too love your idea that JP and Ester may have unknowingly (and semi-miraculously) made a baby. Let's hope that the writers were thinking the same way.

While I'm very tired of Vanessa coming on to Reinaldo (and I'm apprehensive--how often does the galan manage to resist someone like that for the entire telenovela?), I felt the way he dealt with it was pretty realistic. Rather than some kind of over-dramatic reaction, and rather than the "I'm so helpless I can't help but succumb" approach of JP (and countless other characters in this TN), he simply holds his hand up and stops things the way someone might do it in real life.

Did anyone else have trouble picturing Jose spending the last ten years in any kind of situation where he would have needed to iron? (Unless, of course, he was working as housekeeper for an investment banker who didn't like to send his shirts out.) Okay, okay, I'll suspend disbelief, like I did about the toilet business.

SANTA

Thank you for the recap, Hombre!
This show is so full of twists, it's hard to keep track.
Samanda's realization that Humeberto really loves her was the best part of the episode for me. If she were any good at this revenge business, she'd have him eating out of the palm of her hand in no time. Too bad she's not smart enough for this, what with the mooning over Santiago and whatever else she does all day.

Is it wrong if I care more about Mara and Arturo then about Santi and Sam? I even care more about Victoria and Ivan, even if I still find them sooo mismatched.
Heck, I'm even rooting for Transito to find a non-violent sugar daddy more.

With all the backstabbing and double crossing happening at any given time, I still find Hortensia to be the most repulsive human being in this show, even more than Carlos.
Humberto is still my favorite, if I were Samanda I'd be all over him. And Santiago is not too bad to look at, either, too bad he has those sad puppy eyes, that is not what a galan makes!

MARIDO

Utah, thank you for the Rei/TC scene, I knew I missed something else from yesterday's episode.

I agree with you and HOMBRE that Gris' makeover happened slowly and tastefully. First she got rid of the overalls, then a little makeup, now the hair... Her necklace today was a nice touch, too.
Rei is already smitten, when he starts seeing her daily, you know, to help Paty and the baby, sparks will fly.

Here is hoping for a JP/ Esther bio baby, even if JP is not worthy of one now.
I have to confess I don't understand Barbie too well, either. But I guess that's the point, since she doesn't exactly know what to do or who to love her actions are confusing us because she's confused herself.

This Diosa/Ivan thing is annoying - Diosa should at least tell Paloma the truth.

DyO

Josie, thanks for the update on the series length of DyO in Chile. That puts things in perspective for me.

Amy, welcome back! Glad to "hear" your voice. How are things to the south? I saw your note re: Gema, and I'm thinking she's doing some snooping and not really looking to get into the flesh business. And I expect she'll be caught by ED because of her poking around his strip club.

Yup - Izzy's gotta be pg. And I agree - JM will do his duty, marry Iz and then realize he loves her and not Iggy. Last night his undercover amigo got him thinking about Invisabel's feelings for him.

How much longer can they drag out the big Pedro reveal? Even Mariano is hesitating now.

Beth

SANTA-

Thanks for the great recap, Hombre. I had to laugh when Pancho told Ines that Daddy wouldn't have lied about her mother's death. He lied for 40 years about his affair with Francisca, why would lying about his wife bother him?

If Ines had half a brain, there are things that she could do like see if a death certificate was issued, check obituaries and things like that. Pancho told her that he had been to a funeral but Ines told her father earlier that she had never visited a grave.

I'm with you Adriana Noel, Samanda and Santi are the least interesting couple in the novela.

I like Ivan. He's so earnest and cute. I love his imitation of a coke-head dealer. He and Vicki have 0 chance of escaping with the likes of Carlos and Patricio on their case but whatever.

Marido,

thanks so much Adriana for your wonderful recaps,
so many people, so many stories,
you lay it all out so well.

and thanks UtahDesert for your summary of the TC/Reinaldo breakfast chat, although TC didn't look too moved as Reinaldo stormed off.

Santa,

thanks Hombre, great recap!

I missed what was said about Patricio's scar as the captions zoomed away to commercial, but that really got Victoria's attention.

what worries me about the bad guy is that like Patricio said, he can't kill him or he won't get any money, but he can grab Victoria, Patricio's fiancé, and Patricio does seemed to have an obsession with her, like his father had for her mother.

poor, poor, Transito, she is the one that should be packing a bag.

Hortensia seems ready to jump on the bandwagon about police corruption, things are not going well for Carlos, as almost every character in this story is looking at him with suspicion, hmm, and still too risky for him to handle Mara personally.

Santa
Grrreat Hombre, tks

Adriana Noel, I agree, I find S&S very boring, she of the blank stare, he of the red eyes. Santa gives the same blank stare whether talking to Humberto or Santi or being arrested by Pancho. Not much of an actress in my opinion. It's clear the story drives this TN, not the actors, although I think Humberto is fantastic as a villain. Cold, calculating, doesn't get excited about things, just goes about solving problems to his specifications.

capcha beeeni

Vicente wouldn't lie, ¡Dios Mio!, he is a lawyer.

SANTA

Variopinta,

"she of the blank stare, he of the red eyes" - I couldn't have said it better myself - I rather watch paint dry than these two in one of their "passionate" talks.
I watch for the story, too, and for Humberto - love the tormented villain type, and with such poor leads, it's so easy for him to shine even more.

That's especially easy for me to notice, since I also watch MARIDO, a tn with a similar 3 stars cast - Sonya Smith, Juan Soler and Maritza Rodriguez - but each of them has a different charm, something entertaining that ads value to the show.

SANTA

Not watching this, but I happened to see the Humberto-cuddling-up-to-Samanda scene, so I had to read what's up. Thanks, Hombre.

Humberto is the only one I like in this tn as well, and I'll be checking out past episodes on demand, just to watch him as the tormented-in-love antagonist. I'll be rooting for him for sure.

MARIDO

Thanks very much, Adriana, for another excellent recap. And I love your idea about JP and Esther somehow managing to create their own child just a few days before the IVF is to take place. But even if they did somehow miraculously succeed, I'm wondering whether the IVF treatment would in some way be harmful to the already-conceived child. I don't know that it would be harmful, but in the absence of actual knowledge I'd be uneasy about the effect of any mucking around with reproduction once a baby has been conceived.

Vivi, thanks for addressing the question I asked about Alba's reluctance to see Beatriz become pregnant using Guillermo's banked sperm. I confess, though, that it still makes little sense to me. So what if her grief is still raw? I've certainly known of cases where a pregnant woman's husband dies, and the woman finds great solace in the child-to-be. I don't see that as being all that different from what Beatriz wanted.

UtahDesert, I too wondered where Jose developed his ironing and gourmet cooking skills. Answer: I bought a new heavy-duty beanie. :-)

UtahDesert, you praise Reinaldo for simply holding up his hand and stopping Vanessa, and you contrast that with JP's "I'm so helpless I can't help but succumb" approach. I don't think that's quite fair. I'm not happy about JP's giving in to Marcela, but I think an important part of the difference is that Vanessa quickly backed off, whereas even though JP repeatedly rebuffed Marcela, she refused to take no for an answer.

I think today is likely to be my last posting for the next three weeks. Starting tomorrow, I'll be traveling, and though I think I'll be able to access these recaps and comments, I ran into problems a few weeks ago when I tried to post using my tablet. I almost lost my Gmail account. So I think I'll play it safe and not try to post to CarayCaray while I'm traveling.

SANTA

Hombre, many thanks for your terrific recap. It was very interesting, and it also helped me understand several passages whose Spanish eluded me (e.g., what pony-tail guy said to Patricio about his scar).

I like Elisa and detest Hortensia, but I don't understand why a smart, mature, savvy woman like Elisa thinks she can turn Hortensia's nastiness and bigotry into understanding and tolerance. First in the scene with Colin, and then the offer of water to Hortensia in the hospital, Elisa's actions perplexed me. If she were a sheltered 10-year-old girl, I'd feel differently, but....

I'll be traveling for the next ~3 weeks. Thanks in advance to all the recappers and commenters who will make it possible for me to keep up with these telenovelas while I'm away.

MARIDO

I get a kick how Marcela calls Barbara "narguda". Her butt is turkey plump. Anyone know if they're surgically enhanced. Did she look the same in Relaciones Peligrosas?

Josie

DyO

I am getting so sick of Mireya's rant "por tu culpa estoy en esta silla de ruedas!" She sounds like an annoying parrot. Is anyone ever gonna tell her to shut up already?

Josie

DYO martes 1 de octubre Part 1

In which we witness Lupita's lame bachelorette party…

We begin with Gina begging Mariano not to tell Pedro that he is his father, citing Marge's health problems. Mariano does not agree with this but will respect Gina's wishes. "This is a tragedy" and he walks away. Marge figures out that Mariano knows Pedro is his son. Gina swears that she didn't tell him (it was tequila-chugging Abuela) and warns her the longer they keep it a secret the worse off they'll be. She tells Marge that Pedro will always love her but might not forgive keeping this secret from him.

Neto leaves Tomás' office. He asks Isabel if she has seen Mireya; she tells him no. He says a nice person like her shouldn't work for a jerk like Tomás. JM comes in, asks for some strong coffee and some aspirin. He apologizes to her and she says there's no need. He wants to know how he got to his apartment… he again apologizes for not taking her home. He doesn't remember anything from the restaurant up until now. He mentions that he told Ignacia how he felt and was rebuffed. He is confused. Isabel is not confused. She is in wuv.

Abuela goes to Marge's to help with the party. Ew…those decorations. Pink balloons. Looks like a grade school birthday party. Marge guesses it was Abuela who told Mariano. Lupita wants to help but Gina wants her to go Mariano's to get ready. Reuben shows up and says he doesn't want Lupita to have a bachelorette party. Neanderthal.

Tomás' attorney informs Ignacia that Tomás has refused to sign the divorce papers and furthermore, he is suing her for abandonment.

Undercover electrician Gerardo presents his paperwork to Isabel. JM comes out and says he will be in Tomás' office and he is not available to anyone except Ignacia. Isabel doesn't look too happy.

Good grief! Why are Reuben and Lupita getting married? They can't agree on anything! This time they fight over what to name the baby. Reuben likes Daniela or Emiliana (his great-grandma's name). Lupita likes Margarita. Reuben points out there's already a Margarita in the family. Lupita: "How 'bout we name her Estela. When we go to have her baptized the church will burn down!" Outside Reuben asks Neto to spy on Lupita's party. Abuela comes out and chides Reuben for making Lupita nervous. "It's not good for the baby." He leaves and Abuela asks Neto if he wants to earn some extra money as an exotic dancer. She'll pay in advance but it's going to be a surprise.

Ignacia bursts into Tomás' office and says she will divorce him somehow. He tells her she won't get any of his money. Ignacia doesn't care, calls him a few choice names and leaves.

Gema asks Angel how the workers survive on their pay. He tells her some have two and three jobs; some work double shifts. El Raton calls and says he will text him with the location for the delivery. Gerardo comes over and Angel looks suspicious.

DYO martes 1 de octubre Part 2

That other caveman, Pedro, doesn't want Lupita to have a bachelorette party either. He intends to stick around and supervise. Gina says the party is for women only. The guests arrive, Ignacia among them. After all, Lupita is marrying her brother. Pedro asks about Tomás and the lawsuit but she doesn't want to talk about that now.

Gema is outside the strip club. The manager asks her if she wants a table. "Many women enjoy the shows too." (Yeah, I've heard that.) Gema isn't sure why she is there and leaves.

Estela goes to see Mireya. Estela says she's there to protect her daughter from social climbers like her. Mireya just laughs because she knows that Estela is actually in love with Tomás and the reason for her visit has nothing to do with Ignacia. Estela warns her to never set foot in her house again (it's Tomás' house of horrors, not yours) or she will learn what she is capable of. (Murder.)

Isabel is depressed because she gave her "tesorito" to JM and he doesn't remember.

Angel completes his delivery.

Ignacia walks into the kitchen where Gina is putting the final touches on the food. She asks Gina where her brother is. Gina realizes that Mariano hasn't told her the truth. Ignacia wants to meet her brother. Saved by the cell! Lupita walks into the kitchen with a cell and tells Gina it's some guy named Roger. "That's my attorney in London and whenever he calls my heart stops." She takes the call.

Lupita opens her gifts: A maternity dress by Omar the tent maker from Marge; a rolling pin from Gina ("for when Reuben is late"); sexy lingerie from Abuela who says it's a bachelorette party, not a wake.

Gerardo reminds JM that no one in the firm can know he's working undercover. Whiney JM goes on about his problems. FF>

An exotic dancer (not Neto) runs into Mireya outside. She offers him money to give a special dance to the bride. She describes Ignacia. Gina announces her surprise. He starts to dance and prude Marge is scandalized. How can two sisters be so different? The dancer gets a chair, sits Ignacia down and starts to do a lap dance. No one notices that the front door is open and Mireya is taking pictures with her phone. Eventually Marge throws him out. A few minutes later Neto arrives and starts to do his thing. Marge unmasks him. Lupita insists that he stay and dance. Pedro runs into Mireya outside. She tells him of the goings on at this house. He interrupts the festivities. To top it all off Reuben shows up. Marge says the party's over. Reuben and Lupita fight some more and she tries to retreat to her room but Marge forces her to go with her future husband.

Outside Neto says he has no job so he has to earn money anyway he can. This sets Mireya off about Oleg and the plot to remove him from his job so Pedro could have it. She starts up again, "You left me in this wheelchair, you abandoned me, you caused my father to leave..."

Sue, thanks so much! Your recap was great and much appreciated as always. I was laughing so hard when Neto did his bachelorette-party stripper routine...in big white boxers with giant red polka dots! Oh. my. gosh. So, so funny!
Okay now, loose threads: where is Candy? Will Gema's brother Benjamin make an appearance? Why did Neto get a letter from the LA County Court? (maybe he inherited a fortune?) Why does Gina keep getting calls from her stock broker/attorney Roger? Is she going to end up bankrupt?
Just wondering...
J in Oregon

MARIDO:

Forgot to mention how hard I laughed when TC described Gris and her tribe as the Beverly Hillbillies! The writers must be reading our blog.

MARIDO WEDNESDAY

(I knew I said I'll only recap Mo and Tu, but this is not exactly a recap, just a quick rundown of what has happened, which is A LOT!)

THE GOOD

-Amalia and Rafa are still broken up

- Ines and Mario don't steal the 5 Mill, not for lack of trying, though

- Rei fires Vanesa for the almost kiss

THE BAD

- JP still acts like a douche about Esther's pregnancy; instead of seeing him naked, today we witness his chat with Vanesa and his promise to interfere with Rei to get her job back; all I can say is Hands Off, Vanesa! Don't you even think about it!

- Max's fight is today, but he still worries that Barbie wants him dead because of the insurance money - we get a glimpse of his abs, as does Barbie, who pretends to be admiring him, but her mind is obviously tormented by other biceps (more on that later)

- Rafa still wants Amalia, he trespasses into the gated community on his motto

THE Mothers and their babies EDITION

- after seeing little Q, Barbie decides she doesn't want the money after all, she wants to be a mom - and to get back together with Q (the other biceps), apparently - they make out in broad daylight, in front of Gris' house - Q is left dishelved enough to want to talk with Jose about it

- Esther is pregnant, she gets the confirmation from Alba, after Gabe, her new bestie, assures her that she has to be pregnant after all the taco she's been eating in the last month - cute scene with Esther saying that she should give up on the tacos if she doesn't want her baby to come out looking like one - I'm hoping for a baby that comes out looking like JP, though

- TC fights with Pati once again, forbidding her to take her stuff out of the house

- after the fight, Pati runs in the street and a car almost runs her over (was it an SUV, with Rafa's motto not far behind?); she jumps to the ground screaming "my baby, my baby" - this is scare no 2 for Pati, if we have to spend the next 9 months worrying about this baby, she might as well lose it now and spare us all the hair pulling madness.

MARIDO:

Thanks so much Adriana for the bonus recap.

We knew Barbie and Quique would end up locking lips and more eventually. Poor Clara and poor Max. I hope he backs out of the fight.

I was so proud of Rei for firing Vanessa, and so mad at JP for butting in and getting her rehired.

Funniest moment, the look on Rei's face when he enters the hospital and sees TC and Gris praying and holding hands.

MARIDO

Vivi, when did that last part happen? Did I miss part of the show? For me it ended when Pati fell.

MARIDO:

Adriana- Yes. There was a whole other part. The ambulance arrives as Gris and TC and everyone else hover over Pati. TC insists on going in the ambulance, but Pati wants Gris to go with her. In the hospital, both TC and Gris hover over Pati as they wheel her into the emergency room. They both then worry and wait, in their own way. TC wants Pari to be well, but couldn't care less about the baby. Gris wants both to be well, and then forces TC to hold her hands as they sit together and pray silently with their eyes closed for the well-being of Pati and the baby. Rei, who was called by Ro I think, walks into the emergency room and is very confuddled to see this scene.

Fernando blames Rafa for running over Pati and wants to call the cops on him. Ro and Amalia come to the rescue. Ro lets the guards know that Rafa did not run over Pati. She is the one who darted into the street and fell when she was startled, and Rafa also fell off his bike when he was startled by her. Fernando still wants to kick Rafa off the grounds, but Amalia says she'll take responsibility for him and tells Rafa she'll listen to what he has to say.

MARIDO

Thanks, Vivi!
I watched on the Telemundo site and I completely skipped the last part. You're right, TC and Gris praying together is quite surprising!

SANTA DIABLA, Miércoles, Part 1

Here we go again! This recap is not totally in order, but hopefully contains all the good parts.

Samanda is arrested by Pancho in the church. She declares she’s innocent, but he says she has to go to the station to give her statement. At the station, she tells the story how she woke up in the forest in her jammies, and just saw the body there. Pancho says the guy’s name was Orlando, but Sam said she thought it was Ricardo. And she was drugged. She had the substance analyzed, and it’s mescaline. Pancho wants to add the drug charge to the murder charge. No, says Sam, someone gave the drug to me. While she’s explaining all this, over at the mansion, the Padre has shown up to give the news, Santiago has seen Begoña just about to faint. He takes her into the kitchen, and she explains the exact same story to Santiago, about Sam waking up, being drugged, seeing the body. But do you have any idea, he asks, who drugged her? Of course, she replies, Humberto!

Santi then zips over to the law office, and in front of Vicente, punches Bert in the nose (he’s done this several times, and it’s always quite satisfying). How DARE you get Amanda in jail for a crime she didn’t commit! Bert doesn’t say much, leaves. Later, he goes to the station to see Amanda, but Pancho won’t let him, the investigation has to get some results first. Pancho has told Sam that they’ll do an analysis of powder residues on Sam’s hands, and that can show if she fired the gun (isn’t it several days later?) Santi arrives at the jail, too, wants to see Sam, reams Bert out again, saying, not only are you putting your wife in jail, you’re also going to have some explaining to do as to where you got mescaline! Bert doesn’t really have an answer for that. Yet. Anyway, after Santi’s threat about the drugs, Bert takes action, calls Inés, says if you want to save your upcoming marriage, get down to the police station pronto! Huh?

Bert has also taken out a personal loan, using the law office as collateral, and liquidated some of his savings, all in an attempt to come up with the $3 million the creditors require to stop the seizure of the house. He’s happy they have that big check from Diana Cooper. But later (actually before the jail thing, sorry about that), while Bert is meeting with the creditors, Vicente gets a call at the office, the big check bounced! Oh oh. Paula smiles, it’s working.

At the Trebol de Oro, Transito won’t tell Lucy anything, and Lucy goes out to get food for the girls, since they’re afraid to go outside. Inside, a big fat tough guy slams a suitcase of money down on Transito’s desk, here’s the money for the next three girls. Transito isn’t happy about this, but lines up the girls, and the guy picks three to be taken away, presumably into slavery. The third one is a tall, nice girl, who had almost talked to Lucy, but didn’t. Transito really likes her, but is powerless to stop the transaction. Outside, Lucy’s bringing home the groceries, when she sees the three girls hustled into a car. The tall one tearfully says goodbye forever, but won’t say more. Lucy’s brain cells are REALLY starting to fire, this just isn’t right!

SANTA DIABLA, Part 2

At the hospital, Horti has told Carlos she’s going to blow the whistle on him. He screwed up, her son was hit instead of Mara, and Horti will reveal all of the corrupt cop’s dealings! Carlos doesn’t bat an eye. It’s your word against mine. And I’m the chief of police. So don’t mess with me. You’ve been warned! He leaves. Mara has told her Mom she wants to sneak in to see Arturo. So Elisa plans a little diversion. First she sees Horti by herself, looking despondent, and gently puts her hand on Horti’s. Horti actually puts HER hand in Elisa’s and seems to bond, until she looks at the two hands, and snatches hers away. Elisa says you were alone, you may need someone to talk to. Horti turns away, denies this. At this point Mara sneaks past into Arturo’s room.

Mara is distraught at seeing Art with all those tubes, but she moves close, gives him a gentle kiss on his bruised forehead, and he opens his eyes. There’s hope, and she smiles. But outside, Lisette has shown up, causing Horti to tell Elisa, you see, I DO have a friend. Lisette then goes back to see Art, and starts yelling when she sees Mara. This causes Art to go into a fit, and he loses consciousness, falling in a telenovela coma, which we know could last minutes, days, weeks or YEARS.

As Iván waits blithely and happily at the docks for his lover Vicky to come so they can get away from all the drama, things are not working out so well back at Vicky’s. Patricio knows her packing is to go away with Iván, and even sees the computer screen proving it all. Vicky struggles with him, pulls away, grabs a little statue, and CLOCKS him over the head! Big Pat is down, but not out. He grasps her leg, she pulls away, rushes downstairs. Pat gets up, all bloody, but that’s not all. CARLOS is home! Pat wastes no time in telling Carlos all, not allowing Vicky to get a word in, revealing that Vicky was going to leave with her lover, and her lover is Ivan! He also tells that Iván is waiting down at the docks. Carlos bolts out, ready for justice. Vicky pleads with him not to do anything rash. In the house, Pat grabs Vicky, won’t let her move, and snatches her cell phone away.

Carlos high tails it down to the waterfront, walks right up to Iván, and pulls his gun. Iván’s smile fades, he knows the score, and he pleads with Carlos to save Vicky. Carlos isn’t listening, is almost ready to pull the trigger, when he realizes there are lots of tourists and picnickers here. He takes Iván to a convenient warehouse, and tells him to talk or die. Iván finally gets out that Pat is the son of Carlos’s mother’s lover! This hits Carlos between the eyes, because he knows that his Mom did have an affair. Iván adds that he went to New Orleans, that Pat’s aunt explained it all, that Pat wants revenge, since HIS mother committed suicide because her husband had an affair with Vicky and Carlos’s mother. But he donated his kidney to me! No, says Iván, that was a fake, too, he deals in human organs, and he was never a donor, I checked! By this time Carlos is convinced.

Vicky’s cell rings, Pat answers, she says, it’s Carlos, right, he says no, but of course it is. Carlos tells Pat, I found the little bugger down here, he told me all sorts of lies about you, I got furious, lost control, and killed him. You gotta come down to this address and help me deal with the body. Pat says okay, warns Vicky to stay in the house or else, and HE high tails it to the warehouse. He enters, sees Iván is NOT dead, but tied up and gagged. Out of the shadows comes Carlos, gun drawn. So, pig, he says to Patricio, you’re the one who caused the ruin of my whole family! I know everything, and you’re going to PAY! Carlos’s phone rings, it’s Transito, looking at the big suitcase of money on her desk, payment for the three girls, tells him, I got your money sitting right here!

Wow!

MARIDO:

Thanks, Adriana and Vivi!

I'm not sure Barbie really loves K. Maybe she does, or maybe she wants to get Quiquito back, and is just pretending to love K. He certainly still has feelings for her, though.

We got more ammo for a future Gabe and Esther pairing. She was hugging and kissing him, and even though it was sort of just for his tacos and his support, there seemed to be a spark.

I really hate that Marcela, who used Alba, and wants to make private info public.

Antonio was also involved in Pati's accident. He was speeding up in a car, and was close to Rafa's moto. He also got through the gate by saying he was family. That security leaves a bit to be desired. I also think Tony blamed himself a bit for the accident. He told Daniel that he was actually going to take responsibility for the baby, but now, if Pati loses it, he's lost her forever (I think that's what he said).

I know what Vanessa did was bad, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and a second chance, as is Rei, who agreed to rehire her based on JP's pleas. We could both be wrong, of course.

As bad as Rafa is (and he's done MANY bad things from robbery to cheating on Amalia twice), he still does love Amalia. Is there ANY chance he can get redeemed? Same with Tony.

LA IMPOSTORA

deb - was just reading about it a couple of days ago. I'm looking forward to it, cuz Mauricio Hénao's in the line up as well.

Santa,

thanks so much Hombre,

I spent most of the show wondering how Santiago found out about the mescaline, Santa only found out just before she was carted off by Pancho, and the only other time it came up is when the doctor mentioned it to Humberto when Santa lost her baby,

does a powder residue test still work after such a long time?

a small point but I think Carlos took Victoria's phone so that she wouldn't warn Ivan, and still scratching my head over Patricio locking all of the outside doors in Victoria's house so she couldn't leave,

wow is right,
Carlos, Ivan, and Patricio in the same room,
who will be walking away from this?

and a suitcase full of money laying on Transito's bed.

DyO

I see Enrique is in town.

and how many grandkids do you think Pedro and Ignacia will have,
before Margarita gives up the secret.

Marido

thanks so much Adriana and Vivi!

that was quite a touching scene,
Griselda coaxing TC into praying with her.

SANTA:

Deb, Begoña told Santi that Samanda thought she was drugged and Humberto did it. But she didn't know it was mescaline. So my recap is wrong, Santi didn't say what about the mescaline, he just said what about the drugs (I think).

I agree about the powder residue.

And who has a house you can lock so no one inside can leave?!

Carlos is involved in so many of the evil deeds, he's almost more of an antagonist than Bert!

Hombre de M, Thanks for a great recap.

RE: the financial wheeling and dealing, I had a hard time following the financial dealings. I get the idea that the firm is broke and the house and savings are all collateral on unpaid debts, I think. I am not sure how the rich lady's check is supposed to help unless they now use the law firm as collateral and then when the check bounces they lose the law firm as payment (along with the house and allllll the savings). Anyone else get that or something else?

Barbara asked about her jewels once, but I never heard her follow up on them. I would think she would be looking for them as she will need all the cash she can get!

And on the topic of money, just what money does George have to make a deal? He bought time by stealing Barbs jewelry, but he has no other money and he sure isn't in the will..... and the will has no $$$. I don't get it.

I really want to know how Bert is going to get out of this pickle...it seems clear is the one drugging Sam. What is he going to say? The pharmacist mixed up the sleeping medicine I was giving my wife to calm down? Sheeeshhh.

Nonetheless, I sure like this crazy group of kids. BTW, the woman who plays Hortensia played Carlos P's grandmother in an earlier TN (Perro Amor) and she was one of the good guys. It is weird to see her as an absolutely pathetic human being in this role. Hope she can be redeemed. I love Elisa's spunkiness most of the time (except when she dragged Colin over to meet Hortensia)- one TN mom who is
1.) fighting for her daughter's love interest and 2.) a good guy character (i.e. not a gold-digger-mother-in-law).

Santa,

Hombre, I think you got the drug stuff right, I'm pretty sure I heard Santiago accusing Humberto of drugging Santa with mescaline.

CSI Marrero should concentrate on time and place of death, I don't think Humberto intended Santa to be arrested for that, he just dumped the body at another place and left it at that, and so far I haven't seen anyone with the gun. I like it when he gets confused.

Mena, I think you have the finances figured out, there shouldn't be any more to the rich widow thingy since Paula told her to disappear, the odd thing is that the venganza girls didn't know anything about Gaspar's financial problems, so like all of there schemes there seems to be a lot of luck involved.

SANTA

What if Bert took all the money and stashed it off-shore to protect it from the family or even Santa? What if he know more to this story? Or, maybe Victor knows more to this story. Hmmm....

DYO

Well, J, looks like you called it with Gina's bankruptcy. Sounds like Royal East LA may be in a bit of a bind now...

Seriously, this pussy-footing around Marge is way out of control. Somebody just SAY IT already. Even though we know it's not true, it's time to get on with the anvil that is going to separate our too-happy couple for a while.

Is the new guy Enrique? That's what I thought at first, but then the TM website is calling him Prudencio, he came from Corpus Christi, and he wound up in Mireya's house...

Sure would be nice if Enrique got here soon to straighten out this whole sibling mess, but since Pegnacia doesn't even know about this yet, I'm sure it's going to be a while.

LOVED the Neto dancing scene... he is just plain aDORKable.

DYO

FYI, the TM website goes into some detail about the new character that could be considered spoilers. I'm a sucker for spoilers but I know most people don't appreciate them, so if you're checking in, beware!

MARIDO:

Here's an interesting side by side comparison of the casts of the original Brazilian Fina Estampa, and Telemundo's Marido: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSXkVUxkDJ8

DyO
Well finally---somebody stands up to Mireya and gives her an earful! Yay, Tio Prudencio! He's a breath of fresh air after all the whining, hedging, and lying by Marg, Gina and Mireya.

Looks like Tomas is planning a "trampa" at Ruben's bachelor party that will infuriate Loopita and insure that she won't marry him.

Poor sweet Neto, confessing to the robbery to save Mireya. By the way, was that the junkiest box of junk jewelry you ever saw?
:o)
While I'm nitpicking: the background shots of the construction site still show them digging the foundations of the building, after all these months.

SANTA DIABLA... Thursday (epi 42)
part 1

wow,

Carlos has Ivan tied to a chair and his gun on Patricio,
Patricio explains how Ivan is lying,
but Carlos knows all, now has the gun to Ivan's head,
says Ivan is a better man than you,
when he comes around to finish off Patricio, Patricio gets the drop on him,
the gun goes off, Carlos drops, he's alive but looks like he needs another kidney,
Patricio now has the gun, shoots Carlos again, dead,
then kicks Ivan in the head, and beats him unconscious,
and lays Ivan next to Carlos' body,
he puts the wiped down gun in Ivan's hand and shoots Carlos again,
and leaves, making an anonymous call to Pancho from a pay phone,

at the police station, Humberto and Santiago await news of Santa,
Pancho looks at Humberto from afar, remembering Santa's statement of him drugging her,
Ines arrives, and Humberto leaves her in charge of Santiago,

Lisette has abandoned Hortensia at the hospital,
to go look for Ivan,

at Casa Cano Begona has pulled the Padre aside to find out about Santa,
he wonders why she is so concerned,
"she is my daughter", the Padre is taken back,
so why are you deceiving the Cano's.
long story, how is she,

at the hospital the doctor comes out to talk to Hortensia, Mara, and Elisa,
"coma profundo"

Santiago ducks by Ines and gets to see Santa in her cell,
she is worried about willy, in that house, with the Cano's,
Santiago reminds her that he is a Cano,
Ines catches on and drags him out of there,

Ivan awakes, sees Carlos body, jumps up, sees the gun in his hand,
just as Pancho arrives,

Francisca (who's getting strange) wants to go out with willy,
Humberto doesn't think this is a good idea,
gives Barbara the job of watching her,
as he reaches for willy, willy breaks away, and they face off,

Lisette at home, finds the good bye note Ivan left for her, and reads it,
later, as she is rushing off, she gets a call,
Ivan has been arrested,

locked in her house a frantic Victoria decides to break a window,
just as Patricio walks in,
where is Ivan, Carlos,
he shrugs, I was out, helping a friend,
"I don't believe a word",

Lucy brings Transito some food, who is not in her room,
so she checks out the case full of money on her bed, ooo...
Transito walks in, it's not mine, it's the owners,
who is the owner, Transito says she doesn't know,

Lisette rushes to Humberto's house to get help for Ivan.

SANTA DIABLA... Thursday (epi 42)
part 2

a chill has come over the police station with Carlos' death,
Ivan is manhandled to his cell,
passing Santa along the way in hers,
(no one has bothered to ask him what happened)

Victoria is pacing, still locked in her house, Patricio watching from the stairs,
finally he gives her the keys,
as she flings open the front door, Pancho is standing there, with the news,
Carlos is dead, Ivan killed him,
bang, she hits the floor, totally out,

later, Patricio who has taken Victoria to her room is comforting her with a cup of tea,
talks of her never being alone, bla, bla, as she crawls into that place in her mind where she hides,
later, he walks around, checking out his newly acquired Coletti stuff, a smile,

Lisette, Humberto, and Daniela arrive at the police station,
feel the chill,
they discover Ivan is accused of killing Carlos,

Hortensia, after visiting a coma Arturo,
sits at home, looking through old pictures of her boys,
we will all be together, in heaven,
as she pours herself a handful of pills,
but is having trouble with that last little part,
where the pills actually go into her mouth,
at the last minute she remembers her grandchild on the way,
(someone new she can torment, I suspect)
changes her plans,

Mara sits at the cafe, just wants to be alone,
feels a hand on her shoulder,
turns, a new guy, who says, finally I've found you,

Barbara gets tired watching her mother toss and turn in her sleep,
as she leaves the room, she sees George all duded up and going out,
she follows him down the stairs asking where, but he says nothing,
out the door he goes, in comes Vicente,
where is Humberto, he won't answer my calls, we are ruined
the check bounced, and we'll loose everything extra that Humberto put in to save the house,
as Barbara is making her way back up the steps,
I don't want to hear any of this,

a frantic Lisette waits with Daniela as Humberto checks out things with Ivan,
she hands Daniela, Ivan's goodbye letter to read,
Daniela's tearing face is twisting into a big need for a fix,

Humberto chats with Pancho,
Santa will be released, for lack of evidence,
the gun residue test was clean,

but Ivan was caught redhanded,
and what about Orlando Fuentes (Ricardo), could he have done that too,
Pancho wonders out loud,

Ines has dragged Santiago back to her house,
(lately, they always seem to end up in her bedroom),
he sees her picture of Willy (again) and makes the connection,
what was your relationship with Willy Delgado?

Telemundo,

"Avenida Brasil" muy pronto.

(I think I saw this Thursday on Telemundo)

SANTA -- jueves

Thanks so much Deb. I always enjoy your recap poetry but especially here, for this dream-like, stylized show with no pretense of realism, it is perfect.

I'm happy Ivan is alive.

Pancho -- now there's an unlikely hero. Yet he is the one uniquely placed to tie up all the loose ends and put the bad guys away. But will he live long enough to do so? Will he migrate over to the Dark Side?

"as she crawls into that place in her mind where she hides"

I just had to stop and hold that lovely phrase up to the light.

"as [Humberto] reaches for willy, willy breaks away, and they face off,"

That was so well done, wasn't it? I can't believe the acting chops on that kid. And Humberto's sly smile of acknowledgment, his grudging admiration at Willy, Jr's stiffening, silent resistance. "Subtle" isn't an adjective I've used much in talking about telenovela scenes. But wow.

SANTA:

Deb, thanks for another of your superb recaps.

This show doesn't let us relax for one minute! It does make me happy for my normal, humdrum life. I think just about every character on the show is currently suffering (well Pat's riding high right now, but it can't last).

The other day I was writing that Carlos could be the main villain, he was involved in so much. And now he's dead! It would be nice if that would end the trafficking in women at the Trebol de Oro, but Pat might want in on that.

I'm glad Samanda is getting released. They really didn't have a bit of evidence against her that would stand up in court. But since we see that Pancho loves that powder residue test, this isn't good for Ivan. Not only did he have the gun in his hand, but it had been fired from his hand. Who's going to believe he was unconscious at the time? And that note he wrote to Lisette is apparently incriminating, although we don't yet know exactly what it said.

Horti is going to keep fighting, staying alive for her nieto. But what if the father is Bert?! I don't see how that would come out, though.

I'm also glad Santi finally realized where he had seen Willy's picture before, and is asking Ines about it. I doubt she'll tell him anything, but if Santi talks to Samanda about Ines having the picture, that would open up a can of worms (we have lots of those cans on this show).

And who's the new guy with Mara?

DyO

Poor Neto - from aDORKable (great one, Amy!) kitchen chair dancer to jail in less than 24 hours. Glad to see that he's out in plenty of time for Ru-ben's bachelor party.

I thought Nomas sounded like he's planning to drug or somehow keep Ru-ben from making it to the wedding.

I love Tio Prudencio's take charge and get to the bottom of this mess approach. It will be fun to watch him try to squeeze the truth out of our wiggly little squirrel. And how about that old romance with Marge? Hmmm, interesting possibilities.

Deb, I agree - Marge is never going to tell "the truth" about Pedro and Gina. Today her excuse for not revealing the secret is Loopy's wedding, tomorrow it will be something else. Mariano will just have to man up and spit it out. And when "the truth" does come out, Marge will faint and be unable to talk. The writers have dragged this storyline on far too long.

Beth

SANTA

Deb, thanks so much for another wonderful recap. Loved your take on Pat, he "walks around, checking out his newly acquired Coletti stuff, a smile." And, of course, Horti, "….at the last minute she remembers her grandchild on the way, (someone new she can torment)".

Santi is the slowest galan yet. He had to see Willy's photo 4 times before asking Ines what's up with you and Willy's picture?

And Victoria is the perfect victim. How many hours did it take for her to decide to break a window to get out of the locked house - just enough for Pat to get home and catch her trying to escape.

Looks like Fran's gone round the bend and wants to take Wee Willy with her. I hope Begona keeps close to the boy because we know Barbara's going to lose Fran.

Lucy is well placed to get important information for Pancho, but I can't recall her calling him about the suitcase full of Benjamins.

Mara's new man - Dad?

Beth

Santa
Really wonderful recap deb, gracias.

I'm glad the scum Carlos is dead, good riddance. But another scumbag, Patricio, takes his place. Maybe, just maybe, the gun was fired from the wrong hand of Iván????

Lucy had her eye on the dough, I'm sure thinking about taking it. Carlos is dead so who besides Transito would know, & she sure can't call the police.

I agree with Mena that Humberto has dinero stashed. He isn't above screwing even his family. I think he would know before this that the firm is heading for financial ruin.

I don't think Pancho has the gun used to kill Ricardo. Santa only touched the barrel. The one Carlos had is probably police issued. So the question s/b, how did Iván get it away from him? Why was he in the warehouse, who called & what & why does he know about this?

Avenida Brasil

Watch the promo here - http://youtu.be/eLTyl8uNlB4

It looks so good.

SANTA

Beth

IMO Santi is tied for slow with Ivan. How long is it going to take for him to tell Pancho what happened? Geez, I know he is in shock, but it didn't take him long to tell Carlos what was up. At the very least, Pancho can start the investigation. I also agree with you about the new Mara man. I was thinking Pops also.

I like this TN alot .... pero.. the storyline yesterday started to go off the rails with Victoria locked in her house, two people in jail - unable to tell their complete story using the clearly available evidence, bankruptcy - surprise! not!, and Patricio returning to the house with a clean pressed shirt and no scratch on his formerly injured head.

OK, this is TNland. I do hope they don't get too far off the rails!

MARIDO:

This was a major episode, hope someone does a recap. We had Pati losing her baby, and Max quitting his fight before it started, telling the world about Barbie. And now Barbie might get crushed by the angry crowd!

One thing I'm not too happy about is that K and Gris want to keep little K from his mother, even though he desperately wants to be with her. I know Barbie was terrible, abandoning them, but don't little K's feelings matter at all?

Apparently the only way Amalia will consider taking back Rafa is if he turns himself in and goes to jail. Could he actually do that?

Pati said she'd nunca, nunca, nunca want to see Antonio again. Somehow, I don't believe her.

Manuel is his old mean self, getting mad that Celeste has "clients" at her laundromat/cafe, saying only rameras have clients.

MARIDO

Hombre, you summed it up nicely.
What else was there:
Esther wanted to tell JP she's pregnant but found him with Marcela, who was already sharing the news with him (she was with Alba when Alba told Esther via phone that she's expecting).

After Esther left and Marcela tried to stop JP from going after her, JP really tore into Marcela, by calling her cheap, classless and not at all desirable - all true things, but I think he was kind of heard on her...on the other hand, though, rejecting her nicely never worked in the past.

Messed up after smooching with Barbie, K spends some time having a guys talk with Jose and then goes to the taco bar to see Max's non game - but completely forgets that Clara and Leo were waiting for him with dinner. Poor Clara...

At the hospital, the only person Pati wanted to see was Gris. She thanked her for being so supportive and sent Tony the nunca nunca nunca message (good one, Hombre, and I agree with you that I don't trust her).

TC got upset that Pati didn't want to see her, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Celeste's Cafe/Laundromat seems to be a hit.

Gris gives Tony Pati's message; he's oh s upset...Jerk!

SANTA

Before Pat killed Carlos, he said something about the women at Transitos and Ivan was still conscience to hear all this. I don't know what is taking him so long to say something! Pancho is quick to jump to conclusions (Ivan shot Ricardo??) but between this and Lucy's info on the money, he may be able to connect the dots before those cops hurt Ivan.

MARIDO
I lost track of who is doing recaps. Is there a day that needs filled in?

Kelly

SANTA-

Super recap, Deb.

Wasn't Carlos the one who was supposed to be impotent? He's REALLY impotent now that he's dead but it seems like we were promised more about him than was delivered. I wonder if his death was planned from the beginning.

It sure looks bad for Ivan. Bert looked kind of worried when Pancho said the police were going to see if there was a connection between the death of Ricardo, alias Orlando, and Carlos.

What do you bet that Patricio having only found out about the human trafficking the day before will immediately take over the whole operation without a hitch? Maybe there will be the same villian merry go round there was in Corazón Valiente and Miguel Varoni will take over at some point.

Has Samanda ever wondered why Bert gave her the drugs? She has sworn up and down that he cannot know about her plan of vengeance so why is he doing this? Just because he is a Cano? Even the Canos had a reason for destroying Willie.

AVENIDA BRASIL

Mauricio - thanks for the link. I watched several of the promos, and it DOES look good. Thank you!

MARIDO

Kelly, I'm recapping Monday and Tuesday and Sue is recapping Friday. Wednesday and Thursday are wide open, nobody said they'd do it for sure.
So, if you're interested, that would be great!

SANTA

Mena - let's hope that Bert, the white shark lawyer, is able to pull enough info from Ivan and raise questions about evidence to get Pancho thinking about other suspects in Carlos' murder.

Variopinta - I had the same thought about Pat putting Ivan's hand on the gun. Do we know if Ivan is right or left handed? Remember Julia in La Patrona was shot in the wrong side of the head, and eventually it came out that she didn't commit suicide.

Beth

SANTA DIABLA... Friday (epi 43)
part 1

Santiago asks Ines, what is your relation to Willy Delgado,
he was my music teacher, and how do YOU know him,
Santiago replies, we were both musicians, small world,
but Ines wants to make babies,
Santiago says he has to run,
and Ines can't catch him before he is out the door,

Mara at the Cafe, recognizes Lázaro,
(is this her dad, former boyfriend of Elisa)
Elisa called him,

Transito at the Trebol de Oro, has had enough of Lucy,
escorts her downstairs, tries to keep up the aunt/niece story,
Lucy isn't liking this at all,
Transito slaps her hard,
Lucy slaps her back
(ouch, she was just wearing a neck brace)
Transito grabs her and out the door Lucy goes,

Pancho opens Santa's cell,
tells her she can go,

Lisette and Daniela at the police station wait for word on Ivan,
they talk about Ivan's good bye letter,

letter, what letter, Humberto asks, but Lisette wants to know about Ivan,
then Pancho brings out Santa, and his attention goes to her,

Vicente is camping out in the Cano entry way, waiting for Humberto,
Santiago comes home, I'm tired,
wait, Vicente says, we had a deal,
I get you out of jail, you marry Ines,
and you are free, and she is still single,
ya, ya, but I need to wait till my mother is better,
NO, says Vicente, you marry her now,
or the whole world will know about Gloria and what happened in Guatemala,

Gloria, who is Gloria, Humberto demands, as he arrives with Santa,
and what happened in Guatemala,
Vicente finally drags Humberto off,

and the two magnets alone, Santa and Santiago, slowly come together,
begin to talk,
and end up in her bedroom,
Ines had a picture of Willy,
what? he couldn't have been her teacher, Santa says,
was Willy hiding things from you?
Santa doesn't like where this is going,
says she's tired, asks him to leave, lays down on her bed,

Elisa joins Mara and Lázaro at the Cafe,
Elisa brings out all the bad points, Arturo is married, expecting a child,
Mara is stuck with Arturo saving her life,
and in the end blames Elisa for being controlling like Hortensia,
and walks away,

Patricio checks on Victoria, in her bed,
she is OUT,
he picks up a bottle of pills on her nightstand and leaves,

SANTA DIABLA... Friday (epi 43)
part 2

Vicente and Humberto have moved to his home office,
Vicente explains that they were deceived, the check bounced,
Humberto flashes over his meeting with Diana Cooper,
and gets it, he's off...

Lucy shows up at the police station, dragging her suitcase behind,
she tells Pancho her bits and pieces, but with drama,
does she say 4 girls were sold (I thought the guy only picked 3)
and the suitcase full of money,
but evidence from Ivan's backpack has just come in,

Santiago has no sooner left Santa's bedroom when Humberto bursts in,
(this house could use revolving doors)
in a rage,
he drags Santa up from the bed, and smacks her right back down,

Santa is shocked, then jumps up, you hate me,
Humberto's guilt at hitting her, and her accusations,
are twisting him around,
no I don't,
you hate me, and you drugged me,
ut, oh,
he's getting this look of a little boy, as Santa keeps it up,
she leaves,

downstairs Santa talks to Begona,
Humberto must know, what should I do?

Pancho examines the evidence found in Ivan's backpack,
what was it, a brick of cocaine, lots of bullets, his gun,
(what?, are the police setting up Ivan)
hmm, this guy is really bad, Pancho is thinking,
Carlos must have caught him dealing,

Transito sits at the bar, nursing a drink,
Patricio appears,
I killed Carlos, grabs a bottle and drags Transito to her room,
I'm the new king, as he wraps a red satin bedsheet around himself,
and descends on Transito, raping her,
then tells her how things are going to be,
then leaves,
Transito desperately tries to call Carlos again,
Patricio returns with one of the girls,
breaks her neck and lets her drop dead to the floor,
oh, I need some money,
Transito gets the case from under the bed and gives it to him,
(no, no, no)
Patricio lets Transito take care of the body and leaves,
(a muchacha graveyard)
downstairs he meets the cop that produced the evidence on Ivan,
hands him a big wad of money,

Ines, alone in her room, gazes at her picture of Willy
she remembers when she told him she was pregnant,
I thought you were being careful,
but,
no, no, it's over, finished, Willy says,

Mara visits Arturo, in the back room ICU ward.
and chats later with Lázaro who was waiting for her,

Pancho brings Lucy home,
tells Ines, it's not what you think, just one night,
fix the guest room,
Ines looks insulted,

SANTA DIABLA... Friday (epi 43)
part 3

George is out all night drinking with his new business partner,
it's better than we ever thought Alexander Wayne says,
George orders another round,

Barbara awakes at home, no George,
not again, he's gone this time, forever,

Santiago drops by the Cafe,
wants his old job back,
things have not been going very well,
Mara knows how that works,

*next day

Victoria goes to the church for Carlos' funeral,
there is a big poster of Carlos in his police uniform,
she is the only one there,
she hugs the Padre, tears in her eyes,

Lisette bursts into Humberto's home office,
demands that he help Ivan,
Humberto says he wasn't much of a father but he will do this,
so now that he is Ivan's lawyer,
Lisette gives him the goodbye letter,

Barbara meets George coming home,
gets flirty with him, he gets interested, she'll text him in an hour, a date,
as she is leaving, she quietly says, imbecile",
George follows, but meets a guy at the door,
an officer of the court,
does he have an eviction notice?

Santa meets Francisca and willy in the upstairs hallway,
on their way out,
Santa doesn't like this at all, stops them,
Francisca doesn't like being talked down to, jumps on Santa,
Santa slaps her,
this is MY "hijo".

MARIDO

Recap will be posted sometime after lunch but before Red Sox Baseball (5:30).

SANTA

Great recap, Deb. Wow! What an episode.

Lázaro is Mara's ex fiance. He became an athletic trainer after he and Mara broke up. He tells her that if Arturo wakes from the coma, he (Lázaro) will help him rehabilitate. The actor who plays Lázaro was in El Clon.

Why didn't anyone come to Carlos' funeral? His fellow cops don't know that he was crooked - why didn't they attend with an honor guard, etc.? Maybe Patricio made the arrangements and didn't tell anyone at the police station to further isolate Vicki. But really, Carlos was the Chief of Police. He said that he was the highest official in Marrero.

If Patricio just found out about Carlos' illegal activities, how did he get the police lab guy to doctor up the evidence against Ivan? Maybe Patricio had a contact at the police from his previous criminal activities except that he was supposed to have just come to Marrero.

I know, I know. We just need to tighten our beanies here.

So Inés got involved with Big Willy before he ran afoul of Bárbara and Santa didn't know about it. Another chink in Willy's halo.

I'm guessing that George's deal with the Texan guy is for real and the Canos will have to come begging to him to save their house.

DyO
Friday:
Petra sees Emilio kicking some poor guy that's been tied up and dumped out of the car by his goons. We learn Emilio is the papa of Angel and Isabel!

Tio Prudencio springs Neto from jail and brings him back to the 'hood. We learn Tio Prudencio never married, because he couldn't forget Mar. Frantic preparations for Loopita's wedding continue, but not at the fancy venue originally reserved by Tia Gina. It will be at Casa Perez.

Tomas gets some pills from the nurse at the rest home/psych facility where his papa is vegetating. Uh oh, looks like one of those horse tranquilizers might be meant for Ru-ben. Is Tomas going to snap photos of Ru-ben with another woman while he is passed out?

JM confesses to his undercover cop pal that he loves Ignacia. Cop pal says why not go for someone who would return your feelings, like your lovely (invisible) secretary? While JM lists all the ways in which Invisabel doesn't appeal to him, she is listening outside the door. Later she tells JM she is quitting.

Mariano and later JM both confirm to Ignacia that her mama and Tomas were having a "relation".

Gina goes to the consturctora to tell Tomas she must withdraw her financial support from the "Royal East L.A." project--she is broke, she explains to JM. JM takes the news badly, asking who will pay the men, where will they get the money, etc.

That's all I'm recaling for now.

DYO

Oh dear God. Another event at Casa Perez. Just how big is that house anyway? Four bedrooms? (Marge, Lupita, Pedro and Gina)

I can't add anything to the summary because I probably won't see it until tomorrow.

SANTA

Thanks, Deb, for another terrific recap.

Bert really lost his cool with Sam and blew his cover. She's got him so twisted up in knots, I loved seeing him speechless. I'm not sure if he'll be able to smooth things over with her, but I think he's going to try.

I think Carlos' funeral was part of Patricio's plan to further torment and isolate Vicky. He probably told Pancho the funeral will be the next day and will tell the priest that Vicky mixed up the date and time of the service.

Mena - we were way off on Lazaro. Mara's ex, and a rehab specialist! Horti will not be appreciative.

Patricio may be despicable, but he is smart. I don't know how Bert will get Ivan out of jail. He needs Transito's testimony, but Patricio took care of that.

Lucy and Ines under the same roof. Should be entertaining.

Beth

DyO

J in O - thanks for your mini-cap. What an unexpected reveal! And especially from the writers who can never expose a secret.

I saw the first half of DyO last night and was stunned to see that Petra had been involved with ED, and apparently for some time if he's the father of both her kids. I wonder if ED knows that Angel is his son.

It looks like Neto's talk with Prudencio is going to be delayed till after the wedding - if there is one.

Nomas and his knock out pills. Since I'm sure he's going to drug Ru-ben, I hope Ru-ben isn't injured by those pills.

Beth

Santa,

wow, with Patricio in full swing, I'm starting to think Carlos wasn't such a bad guy after all.

thanks Jean for the info on Lázaro, I remember he did call Mara nina (not hija) so I guess there is no bio relationship, right?

ah yes Beth, I forgot to add the part where Patricio is going to use Transito for his alibi, and was drilling her on what to say,

something else I wasn't sure of, when Santa left Humberto all twisted in knots (Carlos Ponce does this part so well) and ran to her mother asking her what to do, did Begona tell her to make him come to her on his knees?

SANTA-
Deb: Begoña didn't say what it was - only that they would initiate the "final blow."

Santa,

thanks Jean!

DyO

thanks J in Oregon!

I was so surprised to see that Petra knew Emilio,

say, it seems like Prudencio and Margarita had a gran amor, but I was wondering if anything was said about the arrival of baby Pedro as being why they separated,

the knock out pills, did the nurse warn Tomas that any more than one pill will cause the person to disconnect from the world, with his dad totally zonked in the background.

and Gema has a crisis, (I missed parts of this) Benjamin is rushed to the hospital, she needs to get him money pronto, with undercover electrician (Miguel?) listening in, she has trouble with the taxi, who drives off , Miguel offers her a ride, at the money store Gema puts in her crumpled dollars and change but I don't think it is enough to even send it, Miguel flops down $200+, she won't take it, but eventually does,

Invis-abel really tugs at my heart, I suppose if Marge ever gives with the Pedro secret, JM may have a shot at Ignacia (in his dreams),

I've only seen Guillermo Quintanilla (Prudencio) as a narco so I'm having trouble seeing him in this role, I'm waiting for him to start making people disappear, and start hitting on the girls at the club.

DyO

Deb - I think Marge told Gina the other day that she broke it off with Prudencio when she and Gina decided to have Marge raise Pedro. Marge didn't want anyone (including Prudencio) to know that Pedro was not her son. At the time her decision probably had more to do with keeping the truth from Estela.

At this point Prudencio and Marge have not discussed specifics about Marge's kids. He's pretty quick so I'm guessing he'll figure out that Pedro was born about the time Marge dumped him.

The nurse told Nomas that one pill was enough to knock someone out and to give no more than 2. So does that mean Nomas gives Ru-ben 2 or 3 pills!?

I missed the Gema/?Miguel sequence, but he's a nice guy and maybe there will be some chemistry there.

I have the same thoughts about Prudencio, but Guillermo Quintanilla is doing a great job as one of the good guys.

MARIDO viernes 4 de octubre Part 1

Max rescues Babs from the crowd. At Tacos Bar Jethro is watching the debacle. Gabe asks about the dinner Clara is preparing for him. "Oh sh¡t I forgot" and he rushes off. (OK he didn't put it exactly like that.) Clara asks Leo about his job. He tells her that he's "on call" and she's just mad because Jethro stood her up. He leaves. And she is mad because Jethro stood her up.

Amalia is sad about Pati losing the baby. Gris explains it's like losing someone you've never met but already love. Amalia feels the baby was saved from rejection by TC. Gris points out that Antonio agreed with TC.

Ro says TC is planning something awful for Gris but JP doesn't care. Ro says he has no other choice than witness the collapse of the Palmer dynasty.

Babs is in a state of shock and is being examined by a doctor. Someone needs to stay with her but the doctor has his patients and Clinton can't stay either. So it will be Max. The doctor advises him to let him know if she doesn't come to in an hour's time. In that case she will have to be hospitalized.

Sol goes for a walk near the laundro-cafe and runs into Daniel. After a brief chat the wheels are spinning in her head.

After all that happened that day, Gris remembers that Amalia is suffering from a broken heart. Amalia doesn't want to talk about it right now, Gris reminds her that tomorrow is another day and it will be better.

Eduardo, Susana and that other guy notice how depressed Rafa looks. Eduardo says it's Susana's fault because she should have told Ivan about Rafa, not Amalia. Susana goes to talk to Rafa. Bad move. He blames her for his breakup with Amalia. She says he was supposed to break it off with her after their "encounter." "Encounter? It was just passing time. I can't stand the sight of you (me da asco)" SMACK!

Babs comes to and Max tells her she's going to be OK. Meanwhile Jethro arrives at Clara's. She tells him the kitchen is closed. After he leaves she says to herself that he is still in love with Babs.

It's 10:00 in Miami because Elio is watching Santa Diabla. José continues to hunt for the treasure that is supposedly in Gris' old house. He finds a music box hidden in one of the walls. José and Elio hope that it's full of gold. He opens it and there is nothing inside but the music plays. He flips it over and reads a note attached to it. José is enraged at this joke and tosses the paper aside. Elio picks it up and we see that it says in Chinese-style lettering "Pista falsa" (false trail). He crumples it up and José is in despair.

Ivan drops by the laundro-cafe and Celeste has Paloma bring him some pastry. "¡Qué rico! Es mi favorito." He's not looking at the pastry. Celeste notices Manuel lurking at the door. Gigante approaches Diosa about something. FF>>

MARIDO viernes 4 de octubre Part 2

José has no money and Gris won't give him any. What's a treasure-hunter-schemer to do? Why blackmail, of course! Whoever heard of getting a job? ("Chantaje" and its various forms must be one of the most common words in novelas.) He goes to see Iris who is annoyed at the late visit (it's after 10). José reminds Iris of their agreement and wants part of his share in advance. She tells him she hasn't been able to get a cent from Gris and that she is smarter than he thinks she is. He disagrees about Gris and calls Gris an idiot. He gives Iris 24 hours to come up with the money or he will go to Gris and tell her that he was the one who did the ironing and made the gourmet food. José leaves and runs into Marcela. He likes what he sees…Marcela, not so much.

Iris is in a tizzy. She complains to Mario that she fled New York to escape the Mafia and went to Miami to blackmail TC into giving her the money she needed. And now she's the one being blackmailed! Mario tells her to threaten TC again–she'll go running to the bank. She doesn't want it out that she is a murderer who killed her own mother and that she is the daughter of a servant. [That last part is news to me.] What Mario and Iris don't know is that Marcela is outside the open window and is listening to them speak with their loud voices. She now knows TC's secret and is going to get money out of her.

Next morning Gris is preparing to go pick up Pati at the hospital when Jethro returns home. He was out walking all night, thinking. No wonder it took him all night. Gris says he should learn a lesson from Max and Babs. She feels that Babs is going to try to take Kikito from him and she will not permit that. Babs is in her hotel room sitting up on her bed. Max comes in and starts packing a suitcase. He tells her they are leaving the hotel. "Where are we going?" "WE are not going anywhere. I'm leaving and I don't care where you go." Cara impactada de Babs.

Marcela wastes no time in contacting TC with her newly-found info. TC asserts that Iris likes to make up stuff about her. Her back is to the door so she doesn't notice that Reinaldo comes into the room. He startles her and she drops the phone. He picks it up and asks who's on the line. Marcela doesn't reply. TC says no one will answer with the way he's shouting into the phone. She gets the phone back and pretends it's Paloma. Marcela asks when they'll meet but TC cuts her off. TC tells Reinaldo that he gave her quite a scare. He wants to know why if it was Paloma on the phone, why didn't she say so? TC wheedles her way out of this one. For now.

Babs is incredulous. "Are you kicking me out of your life? You can't do this to me. I left my husband and son for you." Max says it will be easier for her to go back to them. Babs insists They. Are. Together. Max informs her there is no more "We." "The we ended when I stopped dying for you." "You can't use me and toss me out like trash." Max gets in a good line: "At least you can recycle trash. You're rotten [garbage]." ("de la podrida") She goes to slap him and he reminds her he's a professional fighter so she knows what he's capable of doing to her. He shoves her on the bed and leaves.

Jetro gets on Kikito's case for leaving his backpack at the bottom of the stairs. Kikito says he doesn't know why he has to pay attention to him. "You don't pay attention to what I want. You won't let me see my mother." He walks out the door to go to school.

MARIDO viernes 4 de octubre Part 3

While TC is in the other room, Reinaldo picks up her phone, checks the recent calls and finds out it was Marcela she was talking to when he came in. TC comes back into the room and he confronts her. She asks if he's spying on her and will he hire a detective to follow her to find out if she has a lover. Reinaldo wants to know what it is that Iris is holding over her head.

Yup. The wheels were spinning in Sol's head. Sol sees Daniel and talks him into giving her a ride to school. Before she gets out she gives him a big kiss. He drives away thinking she's nuts. Sol tells her friends that he's her boyfriend.

Manuel complains about the free food at the opening. Celeste says it was just for the opening; today everyone will have to pay. She reminds him this is coming out of Gris' pocket, not his.

At the hospital Vanesa brings Pati some breakfast and says if Reinaldo saw the kind of food they serve he would invade the kitchen. They talk about Pati's plans to go live with Gris. Vanesa is worried because she doesn't think Pati will be able to avoid Antonio. Antonio is out in the hall when Gris arrives.

Amalia informs Iris that she is to send out invitations to everyone in the community. Iris assigns Mario to licking the envelopes.

Fernando visits José who tells him he didn't find any treasure. Fernando says he has a Plan B. He takes out his phone and shows José several pictures of TC. "Teresa Cristina Palmer. Very beautiful but she treats everyone like dirt. And she's loaded. She's way more loaded than your ex. She's not for every man. Especially you with that pirate hair and beard. You don't have the slightest chance with her." Fernando leaves and Elio comes in wanting help with patching the holes in the walls. José says he has more important things to do as he touches his hair. I hope this means he's getting it cut off.

Ro suspects something catastrophic is happening upstairs. JP says he's going to work before the world ends.

At Tacos Bar Ester is picking up another order of tacos. Clara tells Gabe that he's falling for her. Amalia drops by to deliver some body cream to Clara. Ester asks if the creams are good. Clara says they are and if she wants to avoid stretch marks she should start using them now.

Again Reinaldo asks TC what Iris knows. TC says Iris is her problem not his. They argue about her many calls to him at work and his working nights with Gris at the restaurant without her knowledge. Finally TC says every family has its secrets, some of them horrible. But even under torture she is not going to tell him.

Gris warns Antonio not to cause problems. He is determined to be there when Pati leaves. Gris is moved that he still loves her so much. Pati comes out in a wheelchair and tells him he can take his heart and move it far way from her.

MARIDO

Thanks, Sue, for a great recap. Wasn't that a hoot, Elio watching SANTA DIABLA while Jose tore the walls apart.

Ro apparently has a good idea of TC's next assault on Gris, but his misguided loyalty prevents him from telling Rei. Whatever TC has planned, the "collapse of the Palmer dynasty" does sound a bit melodramatic.

I was pleased that Kikito verbalized what some of us have mentioned - his annoyance with his father's and grandmother's refusal to let him see his mother. No matter how the adults feel about Babs, little K has every right to see her.

Maybe Rafa will come clean with Ivan and try to repay what he's stolen.

Tony gets on my last nerve. He still believes it's all about him and his needs. He has no respect for Pati's privacy or her wishes, and his "love" is more of an obsession. I wish the writers would put Pati and Simon together.

I loved Fernando describing Jose's pirate look. Just looking at Jose makes my skin itch. I wonder what Plan B is.

Beth

DYO

Pobrecita de Invisabel :( So proud of her for standing up for herself, though. I was half hoping HotCop would console her, but looks like he's got a thing for Gema which is kind of cute, too.

I predict that JM and Iggy will be a thing when she finds out about her supposed siblinghood, and she'll even get engaged to JM just to help her forget Pedro. In the meantime Isabel will have JM's baby without him knowing it could even be his and won't find out until after Iggy breaks up with him for Pedro. Just rambling folks. Feel free to ignore.

I had a feeling way back when we started hearing about El Duro that he might be Izzy and Angel's dad... and I still suspect he might be Lupita's dad too based on comments Marge made about him being abusive. It was weird how we started hearing about "El Duro" in the same episode that we heard about Lupita's elusive dad and Isabel's as well. Things are going to get interesting with Gema living in the house...

OMG, I had the horrible thought that Tomas might kill Ruben and then Angel would be redeemed and wind up with Lupita. Although the drugged infidelidad set-up seems more likely. In any case, I think we can all agree the wedding is probably not going to happen as intended...

DyO
AnotherAmy, surely they wouldn't kill off Ru-ben? Please no.
The look on Tomas' face as he tries to decide how many pills to put in Ru-ben's glass of whiskey, most convincingly evil.
Really, I can take anything the writers hand out except unresolved loose ends.
I'm still wondering what happened to Candy, we never learned conclusively. Also the little hint about Olegario once working for Tomas' father, are they going to flesh that out?
Looks like Monday's episode could be the stick of dynamite we have all been waiting for.

SANTA:

Great recap, Deb, thanks! I don't think there's any bio relationship between Lazaro and Mara. They're just friends (maybe ex-fiance), and now he just wants to remain friends. But Elisa was hoping one nail knocks out the other nail, and Lazaro could sooth Mara's hurt.

After Samanda accused Bert of drugging her, he didn't deny it. After a long pause, he said, forgive, me Amanda. But he didn't say why he did it. He might say I was mad about you and Santiago. I'm pretty sure Amanda and Begona are still NOT SURE that Bert knows about Samanda, they are still just wondering, and think there's no way that he knows.

I believe Willy was "killed" 2 years ago, and I think Ines' pregnancy was from much earlier, maybe as much as 5 years ago, but definitely before Willy met Santa.

Yes, it will be very difficult to get Ivan out, and he'll probably languish in jail for a while. Daniela will testify that Ivan didn't want drugs, but that's minor. Vicky will be too scared by Pat to testify. Pancho did think it strange that Ivan "shot Carlos with Carlos's gun", but that's just some detail, maybe. I'd really like to know what that letter says!

Lucy did say 4 girls, but the fat guy only chose 3. I don't think this detail matters.

Jean, what a cool idea that George would actually HAVE money, when the family doesn't! We'll see.

Barbara said she's going to get George out of her life. This text and appointment are some kind of set up. I doubt her plan will work any better than George's plans usually do.

Now that Begona has told Padre Milton that she's Amanda's Mom, and Amanda has told Fran that she's willy's Mom, things are really coming out!

Patricio is sick and ruthless. He killed that girl right in front of Transito. Remember, Carlos did that too, slitting a girl's throat. But Carlos had the advantage of being the chief of police. Patricio could have problems, except that Pancho's not too swift on the uptake. If Patricio uses an alibi that he was with Transito at the time of the murder, how is that going to make him look in Vicky's eyes? If she doesn't believe him, it weakens the alibi, if she does, why should she marry a creep who goes to a prostitute?

SANTA

Hombre, I'm sure when Santi told Santa that Willy used to be Ines' music teacher, he said that happened a couple of years ago - porbably Barbara was the one to introduce them, he added, since Ines was already in the Cano circle. That's why Santa got so upset, because she thought Willy told her everything. Of course they don't yet know Willy was the father of Ines' baby, but that part will come out soon enough.

Also, Ines' pregnancy couldn't have happened before Santa knew Willy, because Willy Jr is about 10, right and Ines would have been very young back then.

MARIDO

Sue, thank you for the recap.

I don't know what Jose's plan be is, but could it include a hair cut and a shave, maybe?
That's the impression I got after his last scene on Friday... Jose is meant to be a very funny character, with all his scratching, but if they show Miguel Varoni in all his glory, I'm not sure Grisi could still hate him that much. I mean, come on, Miguel Varoni!!!

There are many baddies in this tn, but I find Tony to be the very worst of them all. I could take Rafa or Kike over him any time - the first is a thief, but his love for Amalia is real and we've never seen him push for marriage when Gris got rich and K might be a Neanderthal, but he has his reasons to act bitter and he is a good father.
What are Tony's positive traits, aside from his pretty eyes?

MARIDO:

Thanks for a very complete and entertaining recap, Sue! I especially liked the part about Jethro being up all night thinking, it would take him that long!

I don't see why Gris and Jethro don't consider making a deal with Barb for her to have weekly visitation, or have Kikito one day a week. They act as if it's all or nothing. As bad as Barb was, this is unfair to her. And her refusal to take the $5 million should prove something.

This show seems to have not just good guys and bad guys, but serious good guys and comedic good guys, along with serious bad guys and comedic bad guys. For example:

Serious good: Gris, Amalia, Paloma, Celeste, Rei, Ivan, Simon, Pati
Comedic good: Jethro, Ro, Elsa, Sol, Gigante, Diosa, Gabe
Serious bad: Rafa, Fernando, Tony, Manuel,Leo
Comedic bad: TC, Marcela, Iris, Mario, Jose, Elio

And of course we have a bunch of others, like Vanessa, Barb and Max, who we can't decide if they're good or bad. And I know Tony is supposed to be in the good guy category, but he sure isn't acting like it!

SANTA: You're right, Adriana, I forgot how old willy is. So big Willy was definitely two timing Santa.

zap2it.com tv listings is saying the,
Gran Final is Friday, 18oct13

DyO

wow, this can't be true,

this is hardly enough time for Margarita to spit it out,
no time at all for Pedro and Ignacia to mope around after hearing,
and JM will need a brain transplant to able to see Invisabel so soon.

not only that but, "La Impostora" and "Almas Perdidas" which are due to start filming soon, have not as yet, "Almas Perdidas" hasn't even announced the leads yet.

and "Avenida Brasil" promos say pronto, not muy pronto,

but wait, there's more,
Emilio Romano, the president of Telemundo, walked out the door last Friday.

Wow ... can't believe the ending is Oct 18. I'm trying to think of the characters that I like... LOL

the worst... Margarita
can't stand her.

I miss the spunk of the first Gina, the second Gina gets manipulated and lets Margarita get her way. Margarita must surely be the older sister.

I don't have a problem with the villans, its the good guys that are so, so, stupid. Pedro and Ignacia deserve each other, just because they can't see past their noses. I'm rooting more for Ruben and Lupita's love story.

Was really disappointed in the nerd saying he is too good for Isabel, well she deserves better him. I really hope they don't end up together.

The only character I really like is la Abuela.... to bad she is not the protaganist.
