TELEMUNDO Y MÁS - week of September 9
SANTA viewers: I saw this on a Spanish news site today:
Se forma la tormenta tropical “Humberto”
Enjoy!!!
Labels: dyo, marido, santa, telemundo
Iris wants to talk to Rei, but there is no way that TC will allow this. That’s what she says, but then leaves, letting Rei alone with tia. Rei is intrigued by what Iris might say, so he does want to talk to her. Iris gets cold feet, asks to eat again, before talking. Later on she explains Mario that she’s not yet sure if she should tell TC’s secret. Again we see them eat – I wonder if the producers are paying for some gym hours for the 2 actors, since they are required to eat in almost all their scenes (they always make my mouth water).
TC runs to her bedroom, all stressed out about Iris again; she starts her usual ramble, almost revealing her secret, with Ro listening to her from the dressing. She stops just in time, though, and forces Ro to say that he never heard anything, just as Rei comes in and asks to talk to his wife.
Apparently all the back and forth between TC and Iris has finally caught his attention, he realizes TC always gets upset when Iris is around talking about the past, almost like she is being threatened – could it be that Iris knows one of her secrets, one that he is not aware of? (and we have BINGO!)
TC is trying to keep a straight face, but her resources are running very low – this is not a telenovela, she explains, nobody is hiding any dirty secrets or dead bodies (heh), Iris is just a bad person, who lost all her money, is desperate and loves to torment TC. Rei is not quite sure this is the truth (he’s always left wondering, how about you start doing some digging, Chef?) – He prefers for tia to be as far away from him as possible. TC is very happy with this decision, but when Rei leaves, she decides she has to do something against Iris, the witch.
Before going to the restaurant, Rei answers the lawyer’s phone call and finds out the judge freed Manuel for the time being. And there you have it, the chofer creepily gets out of jail and I take it he’s headed home.
Iris and Mario are still eating, wondering when will Rei come to talk to them – well, he won’t, he already left for the restaurant and Elsa has strict orders to show them out as soon as they finish eating (we find out later on she doesn’t succeed, they remain by the pool, enjoying TC’s riches some more).
Gris and Celeste are cleaning the house, talking about maybe buying a vacuum cleaner –Gris prefers a broom, but this brings Celeste bad memories (I guess Manuel used to beat her up using a broom stick, too – oh, God!).
While they chat, the guy who fell from the sky (I can’t remember his name now, for the sake of this recap I’ll call him “Creepy”, just so you know), sneaks in through the garden and listens on.
Gris and Celeste continue their talk, this time mentioning how Gris could never make any improvements on the house because El Chino, the owner, prohibited them from doing so before leaving them the house to take care of. So Gris decided to respect his wish, after all they did live there, rent free, for about 15 years (since El Chino disappeared, shortly before Jose was lost at sea – could the 2 be connected?). “Creepy is still outside, spying.
Gris brings out the fancy wine Gabe bought for the occasion, the perfect moment for Celeste to play matchmaker again – it seems that having an awful husband didn’t destroy her confidence in men, maybe SHE should consider Gabe if she likes him so much).
Sol is home, dancing, getting ready to go to Gris’ house, too, for the papers signing, when the music suddenly stops. She is totally freaked out to find Manuel in the living room, so much so that she runs away, screaming. He turns the music on for a bit, dances, takes a sip of beer, appearing to enjoy himself; but then he turns off the stereo and drinks some more while showing us his usual, menacing face.
JP’s mood changes are apparently keeping the employees on the edge – he demands to know who chose a certain fabric and when he finds out, he congratulates the guy, but in a way that makes them all sweat.
Back at home, Esther is telling Beatriz that JP still won’t help her, but she’s determined not to give up on her plans. Beatriz is happy for Esther, she’d like nothing more than to have Guillermo’s child, too, but Alba doesn’t agree. Could these 2 baby obsessed women reach a pact behind Alba’s back, or maybe team up to convince her to inseminate Beatriz, or to use Bea’s eggs with Esther, or…or… who knows, this story gives me a head ache.
Sol is telling Gris and Celeste about Manuel, when Amalia and K come down the stairs. Shortly after, Tony, Gabe (in a suit!) and Paloma (with a camera) show up, too (this is turning out to be quite a party); they’re all excited for the new house, but I’d suggest them not to waste too much energy before the deal actually goes through – and Gris says pretty much the same when Gabe wants to open the bottle of wine.
There are also appetizers being served, prepared by Gris’ future daughter-in-law, Clara (where is she, btw?). What!! K denies any kind of wedding or serious relationship happening.
And it’s time for the Clingy Gabe to show up again – he does his usual fawning over Gris, asking to hold her hand, just this once – Gris reluctantly agrees, wondering where the realtor and the other people are.
Tony plays with Little K upstairs, he’s a really good uncle and apparently, a good brother, too; I guess these scenes are meant to tell us that he’s not all bad and he has plenty of redeeming qualities, but I still can’t stand him.
Pati is at school, telling her girlfriends that she is now living in the same house as Tony. Vanesa is sure that means sooner or later she’ll open the door to her room to Tony (and invite him in her bed I guess is implied, too), but Pati doesn’t like the turn the conversation is taking and leaves to study alone in another part of the campus.
TC gives her speech during the condominium reunion: What a menace an outsider like Griselda Carrasco represents for their world! She can pervert their kids and turn their exclusive neighborhood into a barrio! Oh, the horror! Nobody reacts in any way (or at least the way TC expected, singing her praises most likely), so she assures the other women that the vote will be secret.
The realtor finally arrives and is received with applause, but he has bad news: in order for Gris to buy her house, she needs an approval letter signed by all the other owners in the condominium and TC is taking measures to prohibit this from happening. Everybody thinks this is a blatant discrimination (and now it becomes obvious why the other ladies at TC’s reunion didn’t ‘voice’ their opinions), Paloma suggests they should fight back – go and crash the reunion, capture everything on tape and give it to the press, so that everybody becomes aware of the type of person Teresa Cristina Palmer really is.
Everybody agrees with this, but Gris still has doubts, so she asks Tony, who knows those people the best, what he thinks about the idea. He is completely opposed to it; they can’t go, barge in there like a circus – and, besides, how are they supposed to pass by the security.
The fact that Tony thinks this is a bad idea makes Gris decide to do it, because she knows Tony only thinks about himself always and forever (ain’t that the truth!). She asks for the realtor’s help to get inside and off they go, to exact justice – or create a scandal – basically, entertain us.
“Creepy” is on the phone with someone, saying there are no news about El Chino and Griselda is about to move to another house – so this is the moment to act, or else the guy on the phone will lose Griselda para siempre… This is soooo the husband! But who is “Creepy”, his accomplice?
Pati finds out what TC has planned and that Gris is going to crash the reunion. (Although it’s not clear who calls her, Tony?) She decides to be on Gris’ side and goes to the condominium reunion, too, joined by Daniel, who wouldn’t miss this for the world.
Ro is worried TC’s actions will have bad consequences, so he calls Rei and tells him all about it. Being well aware of how serious a discrimination charge can be, he rushes over to the meeting, too. So half the cast in the same place and everybody is riled up….Oh, boy!!!
As the cars of Gris’ people arrive at the condominium and are allowed to pass through, the voting is about to end. There is only TC left to vote, when Gris shows up, with Paloma behind her, filming.
Gris knows the women attending don’t consider her worthy of them, so she has decided to capture the whole thing on tape, so the entire world will know how they discriminate her. TC looks scared, especially by the camera rolling. Gris urges her to give her vote, but TC seems to have lost her courage. Gris keeps provoking her, she can’t wait to show the tape to the press. TC screams that this is a private reunion, that Gris and Paloma have no right to crash or film.
Gris screams about being discriminated again and Gabe shows up to offer a helping hand, followed by Gris’ entire gang. This prompts TC to call them all a chusma and other offensive names – she’s on a roll, she can’t keep her mouth shut anymore, she’s lost all control.
Rei, Pati and Daniel arrive just in time to hear TC’s screams and Rei steps in, asking his wife what is going on (and politely saying Hello to Gris at the same time – this man shows good manners even in the worst of circumstances).
Great recap Adriana. I am so glad that Paloma got all that on video. It was a great idea. No way will that gated community want to have that get out. Loved the showdown between everybody and TC!
As for Rei investigating what TC is hiding, I don’t even know where he’d start. It’s not like he would in his wildest dreams think TC had committed murder (twice!), and that one of her victims was her own mother. He’s also got to know that if Iris has something on her, that she’s blackmailing her with, she certainly wouldn’t give up her goose that lays golden eggs by telling Rei (for free). Right now Ro has more clues, just because he’s heard TC ranting to herself, and I don’t think even his mind would go to murder.
So mystery man Elio might be tied to Gris’s supposedly dead husband? Hmm…interesting. I also wonder what’s the story with Chino?
Did you see the way the realtor guy was checking out Paloma? And she kept covering herself up. LOL! I also laughed when Gris asked Tony what he recommends and then says she’s doing just the opposite because he only ever thinks of himself. How well she knows him!
Thanks for the recap, Adriana. I couldn't watch (Monday night football), but I enjoyed your retelling of the events. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Adriana - very nice recap of a wild episode with some interesting plot developments.
You're so right about Tia Iris telling her secrets; if she does, the gravy train stops dead in its tracks.
I'm guessing the disappearances of El Chino and Jose are connected and that Jose isn't dead, but El Chino is. Surprise - Creepy Accomplice Elio doesn't have amnesia.
El Chino, the owner, prohibited Gris from remodeling the house when he let them live there. Cash in the walls?
Esther and Beatriz, I just can't get into this storyline - FF.
Daniel is the one who called Pati to tell her about TC's homeowners' meeting.
TC's plan to use the HOA to keep Gris and her family out of the community was so obviously illegal. The scenario was fun to watch, but it showed how crazy TC is and how illogical and grandiose her thinking is. Paloma's video can be used at TC's sanity hearing.
Beth
thanks so much Adriana,
another wonderful recap!
what did Paloma say when the realtor offered her his arm as they were leaving, not in a 1000 reincarnations, before she turned and walked away,
Elio is just strange, he beats the guys at volleyball, almost single handed, and now he seems to be on a mission,
so no men at the condominio meeting,
I'm not sure what bringing all of the chaos to the meeting will do for endearing Griselda to the other owners, but it sure rattled TC, and Reinaldo is just perfect as the guy who sorts everything out and calms them both down.
Many thanks, Adriana. I didn't get to see last night's episode. In retrospect, I wish I had: it would have been a lot more fun than watching the Redskins getting creamed by the Eagles. Sigh.
Oh well, thanks to your excellent recap, I feel I'm all set for tonight's episode.
(Before I begin may I say that every day I drive by a church whose tower is covered in scaffolding. A sign at the bottom of the tower clearly says "Danger. Construction Site. Keep Out.")
As Tomás is leaving JM asks him if he knows anything about Karina's death. Tomás says only that the police think she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. JM asks him if he thinks there is an alternate theory and he says no. After he leaves, JM mutters that there is an alternate theory.
Gina tells Oleg that Marge can't leave in the middle of her cancer treatment. Oleg counters that there are doctors and hospitals in Corpus Christi, that she needs to breathe fresh air, and that her family is causing her problems and she needs to be away from them. Lupita overhears and says she's willing to go away with her mother since there is nothing keeping her in LA. Gina forbids her to say anything to Marge.
Angel asks his boss if he can give him a hand. The boss says everything is taken care of there and suggests he go help Martinez. Angel asks if the police have a suspect in the attempted robbery. The boss wonders why he's so interested. Angel says he was almost accused. The boss bumps his injured arm and Angel lies saying he injured it playing soccer. Later in the locker room the boss actually sees Angel's wound and says it could become infected. He advises Angel to see a doctor but Angel says his mother is giving him herbs. Angel then says he got it playing handball.
Lupita goes to Ruben's apartment to inform him she is moving away. Reuben says she can't do that to him and she says, "Oh yes I can and I'm going to when Mami is done with her treatment."
Marge is on the phone telling her customers that she will be unable to finish due to technical difficulties. Pedro decides to go and have a chat with Mireya. Marge and Gina don't want him to. Gina says she can buy Marge 5 sewing machines if she wants but Proud Pedro nixes the idea. (I'll take them Gina! And a long-arm quilting machine!) Oleg comes in and Pedro complains about his daughter breaking Marge's sewing machine. Pedro goes over to Oleg's and tells Mireya that if she has an issue with him then discuss it with him and don't take it out on other people like his mother. She warns him not to threaten her. The others join them and witness Pedro telling Mireya that Ignacia is his girlfriend and that she is coming to dinner this evening. Mireya yells that because Pedro threatened her she isn't going to lift a finger to get Marge's sewing machine fixed and orders Pedro, Marge and Gina to leave. Oleg has a concerned look on his face.
Abuela looks like she is sneaking out of the house when Reuben appears. He tells her about Lupita's plans and she advises him to concentrate on Lupita and not Estela because she will take care of Estela.
Angel and the Rat discuss what happened. Angel tells him he feels like everybody is keeping an eye on him.
As Pedro sets the table he asks Marge to give Ignacia a chance to see how wonderful she is. He goes into the kitchen and Marge answers the knock at the door. It's Abuela and she wants to know how things are going with Ignacia and Pedro. Abuela tells Marge about the fight Pedro had with Estela when he told her they were a couple. Estela said she will do anything to separate them. Gina joins them and says this time she is on the same side as Estela. Abuela can't understand why they can't be together. Ignacia arrives and when she goes to kiss Pedro Gina yells, "Don't you dare!"
Mireya is crying at her apartment, remembering Pedro telling her that Ignacia is now his girlfriend. Neto comes in and tells her he came as soon as he could. She says she doesn't want to be alone. Her father is eating over at Pedro's and he invited that b¡tch Ignacia. Neto asks what he can do to get Pedro out of her mind and heart.
Gina repeats, "Don't you dare!" and Abuela, Pedro and Ignacia looked confused. Abuela comments that they make a cute couple and Gina tells her not to say that. Marge tries to change the subject and suggests they sit at the table; she invites Abuela to join them. Abuela gladly accepts because it means she won't have to eat dinner with Tomás. She informs Ignacia that she moved back to Tomás' to be with Estela. Marge goes to get Oleg. Abuela wants to know what Gina's objections are and Gina doesn't want to tell her but she relents and takes Abuela into the kitchen.
Tomás brings Estela some of his special tea. At first she refuses it but then accepts. Tomás asks her if she is going to confess. Estela says she dreams about Karina and even "sees" her and is unsure whether she can keep their secret. Tomás tells her to trust him. She lays in his arms. While she drinks her tea he thinks, "I'll finish you off Estela. You're not going to ruin my plans."
Mariano and Reuben are going to have dinner together since Ignacia is out. Lupita arrives but she is not there to see Reuben. She asks Mariano if he had a child with Gina.
Oleg walks into the room in mid Mireya-Neto hug. Marge comes in and says Oleg that they are about to eat. Mireya asks if Ignacia is there; Marge says yes. Mireya starts to sob and Neto says he's going over there. He confronts Ignacia and Pedro and says he can call Ignacia "tú" since she's no longer his boss. He gives her a piece of his mind because Mireya is so upset. Pedro informs him that Ignacia got her job back and he is speaking to his boss. GULP!
In the kitchen Gina says that the love between Ignacia and Pedro can't be. Abuela thinks it's because they belong to two different economic and social classes. Gina says that isn't the reason and reveals that Pedro is the child she had with Mariano, the one everyone had thought had died when Estela pushed her down the stairs. And no one interrupted this revelation!! So, Pedro and Ignacia are brother and sister. Abuela asks how she could have kept quiet about this. Gina says Estela threatened her and her son and told her she would never leave her alone. She left Pedro with Marge so he could have a better life. Only Marge, Gina and now Abuela know about this. Gina begs her not to tell Mariano who thinks his son is in London. "*SIGH* Brother and sister. And they're in love." Abuela asks what are they going to do and Gina doesn't know. "It's a macabre joke that Destiny has played."
At the shelter the ?social worker comments that Gema has started a new job so she shouldn't have such a sad face. She is worried about Candy because she hasn't heard from her. She decides to call her. The men who kidnapped Candy have her cell and the ringleader realizes it's Gema when he answers. She hangs up. She thinks it's strange for a man to answer her phone because Candy doesn't know anyone and doesn't have any relatives. The tries to assure Gema that Candy is OK but we see the scene of her body dumped in the middle of nowhere. The ringleader tries to call El Duro but he is busy…
…at the strip club with Barbie. She says she is just a dancer and is not into…she doesn't say it but we can surmise "rough stuff." He says he can have her if he wants her. He grabs her and gives her a rough kiss. She cries "No!" and runs out of the room. The manager comes in and El Duro says if he can't have Zafiro he doesn't want anyone else. El Duro has plans for Zafiro.
Neto is confused because Ignacia said goodbye to everyone at the site. Pedro notices Neto starts to call her "usted" again. Ignacia says that she got her job back. She also accepts her responsibility in the mess with Mireya. Marge and Oleg come back and Marge joins Gina and Abuela in the kitchen. Abuela says they're brother and sister and Gina admits that she had to tell her. Gina suggests they tell everyone involved.
Mamá is saying her Rosary and Isabel asks her if she has a guilty conscience from lying about Angel's whereabouts the night of the robbery at the site. Mamá says she never tells lies. Isabel mentions an incident in a supermarket when Angel was younger. Flashback: The owner of said supermarket tells Mamá that Angel shoplifts and if she doesn't do something he'll turn into a juvenile delinquent. Mamá sticks her head in the sand and denies that her son did anything wrong. She leaves the store and we see Angel holding a pair of sunglasses he swiped. Back to the present: Isabel reminds her that they can't set foot in that store again and how everyone at school knew her brother was a thief. She speaks of a woman who claimed that Angel stole money out of her purse. Mamá has had enough and says she would go to whatever lengths to defend her children. Isabel reminds her that she works at the same firm and her job could be in jeopardy.
Lupita badgers Mariano about his relationship with Gina. She reminds him that they knew each other in Europe. He exclaims "NO!" and she asks, "No that Gina had a son or no that you're the father?" Rebuen comes in from the kitchen and asks her if she is back to say goodbye again. Mariano asks, "Goodbye?" and Reuben informs him that Lupita is moving away. Lupita doesn't want to get off-track so she again asks Mariano if he's the father of Gina's child. He tells her to ask Gina about her child not him.
Back at Oleg's we have two people having two different conversations. Mireya is mad that Ignacia is occupying her place at Marge's table. Neto is telling her how he stepped in it and will most likely be fired tomorrow. Mireya goes on to say that she misses being with the Perez' at their table and listening to her father's jokes. Neto is tired of hearing about Pedro and asks her point blank, "What do I mean to you?" She asks him to leave her alone. "Do you love me or not?" "Leave me alone." "If I leave I'm never coming back." "The door is open." Mireya, you've lost the only ally you had. Neto sits on the rainbow bench out front and ponders his next move.
In Marge's kitchen Marge tries to convince Abuela that Ignacia is destroying Pedro's life. She asks her to take Ignacia far away or make her go back to her husband. In the living room Oleg tells Pedro and Ignacia that he is going to move away. Ignacia is sad that she will lose him at work and says he is also a good friend.
Gina says that the only way to get out of this mess is to tell both of them the truth. Abuela nods in agreement. Marge says that before that happens she will take Lupita and Pedro and disappear. Pedro comes into the kitchen and wants to know what's going on...
Amy - thanks so much for your excellent recap. I didn't get to watch last night so your detailed write up helps to keep me caught up.
Gina did make a good point with Oleg about Marge leaving in the middle of her cancer treatment. She could, but it's probably much better for her to stay with her doctors and treatment schedule.
"Gina says she can buy Marge 5 sewing machines", so why didn't she do just that and avoid Marge's being upset about her unfinished projects.
Angel has changed his story about his sore arm enough times that the bosses should be comparing notes and wondering is he really was involved in the attempted robbery.
Marge will do anything to prevent Pedro and Lupita from learning Gina is his mother. Lupita may be ready to leave, but Marge is going to have to talk fast to get Pedro to leave Iggy now.
And Nomas sounds like he'll do anything to keep Estela quiet. He's probably already ordered her padded wheelchair.
Beth
Sue455, thank you SO much for stepping in to do DyO recap! Things are happening fast, and I wish the brother/sister storyline would fizzle out quickly too. Marge is sooo aggravating, are we supposed to like her?
She is faced with her son having an incestuous relationship and still doesn't want to tell the truth. Come on, lady!

Quick rundown of today’s show, I feel like we’re moving in circles, the pace is very slow, a lot of comedy (granted, it’s the good kind), but not much plot development. Will Griselda and Reinaldo ever become Grisnaldo?
At the condominium reunion – TC and Gris end up in a cat fight, Gris punches Rei by accident (when he’s trying to break them up), pulls out one of TC’s extensions. Paloma has the winning solution: since the whole scandal is on tape and the owners surely don’t want the press to know what happened, how about they vote again and Paloma will destroy the tape?
They do just that, the vote is unanimous, Gris&Family can move in.
They go back to the house, Gris signs the contracts for the house and for the new association with Celeste and they all celebrate with Gabe’s exclusive and expensive wine.
Celeste suggests Gris that maybe she should help Amalia with the creams, too, but Gris already has that covered.
TC doesn’t remain at the reunion long enough to see the actual voting. Pati takes her home and Ro drags her to bed, gives her a fist full of tranquillizers and puts her to bed. TC snores for the rest of the episode, which is a relief for our ears and for Maritza R’s vocal cords.
Manuel is back at the house and ready to take on Ro. But once again Ro stand up to him in a very manly way, making all of us proud – he was scared of the confrontation, but once it’s over, he’s quite proud of himself, too. Like all cowards Manuel backs off for now, I hope he doesn’t play a dirty trick on Ro.
Iris and Mario are still at the house, rummaging through the fridge. They only leave after they fill two bags of groceries from the Palmer – Ibarra pantry.
Leo is about to take a new moto to be stripped of valuable parts, when he sees the police is paying a visit to Rafa’s accomplice. He runs back to the moto shop and explains what happened. The girl who always fights with Rafa (why can’t I ever remember her name?) takes a picture of him giving Leo some money. Then she tells the other guys that she’s only after Rafa’s job, but one of them is sure she actually has the hots for him – someone on the board called this a long time ago! Kudos!
Max started training with the new coach, but Barby thinks he pushes himself too much. He insists that he’s fine, full of energy, but that worries Barby more, because after training all day he should be exhausted. Me thinks Max started taking something…
Also, since he had that attack during sex, Barby is afraid to be with him anymore. Going back to K in 3,2,1….
Rei is back at the restaurant, Vanesa “can see” that he’s worried…Ugh… Yeah, Rei is worried for poor Ro, who has to deal with TC’s madness.
At the posada Tony is on Pati’s trail; he ends up in her room again, and again he forces himself on her. But Pati seems to enjoy it this time, she tells him she loves him and they take things to bed. Blech!
Thanks, Adriana Noel, for your moderately short but comprehensive recap. I'm thankful that it was short, since I really disliked almost the entire episode. For one thing, I HATE cat fights. For another, I continue to be disappointed that Griselda is going through with her move to Palacio Wretched Excess. And, perhaps most of all, I'm disappointed that Pati has caved to Antonio. As you said so eloquently, BLECH!
There wasn’t any recap for Monday’s show, and I was watching football, so I couldn’t watch it until late yesterday. The biggest thing that happened was that Santi had to tell Bert that Wee Willy was (Samanda’s) Sam’s son. Of course Bert already knew this. He suggests keeping it quiet, so as not to upset Fran. Later, Bert continues his mental torture of Sam, reaming her out for lying as to Guillermo, also saying she must be going crazy for waking up in the woods, what was she doing, sleepwalking or something? I wish she could figure out she was drugged. I also don’t think Santi has totally figured out HE was drugged with Inés, certainly he hasn’t told anyone that.
One plus for Sam and Santi is that Bert believed Santi when he said he didn’t know who the father was (Vicente is not so trusting, though).
Some other items from Monday were Lucy hiring a mariachi band to woo Pancho (didn’t work), Pancho interviewing Transito about the traffic in women (with Carlos right there, she denies all, and just says that one girl disappeared, which Pancho doesn’t believe, but Carlos is mum), Art going to the priest and telling him he loves one woman, but is marrying another, and Iván going to a pawnshop to redeem a cameo which is the last thing Vicky had from her Mom. Unfortunately, the cameo costs $2500, so Iván is going to save up. His sneakiness about this is making Vicky suspicious, and Patricio keeps coming on to her, too.
The episode ended with Santi meeting with Sam in the boarding house. With Lisette listening in outside the door, Santi says let’s leave all this. Sam agrees, but on one condition, Santi has to tell her the truth about his multiple identities. Lisette exits before this last part, but calls Bert, I’ve got some news for you.
Now for Tuesday. Santi agrees to tell the truth, and we finally find out what happened. He was in Guatemala teaching music to poor kids, and there was this woman who came on to him, named Gloria. She seduced him, and this was a big mistake, because it turns out she was married, and to a big druglord named Franco! So Franco wanted to have them both killed. But he drugged Santi (he gets drugged a lot), and when Santi woke up, he was covered with blood, next to the dead body of Gloria. Franco had killed Gloria, and wanted to set up Santi to take the fall. He even had a journalist take a picture of bloody Santi, and put it in the papers. Santi woke up, somehow overpowered the two guards, and escaped. But he was wanted for murder, and had to change his name and switch countries (and cut his hair) in order to get away. Sam believes him, and is very grateful he’s trusted her. They can leave soon, but Santi has to say goodbye to his Mom and Dad, and Sam has to set things up with Willy.
Inés walks in at the end, doesn’t hear anything, but causes her usual mayhem, including telling Sam that she and Santi were caught naked by her Dad after a night of passion. Santi still hasn’t had a chance to explain this to Sam, but he says NO WAY will he marry Inés, he doesn’t like her at all.
So what’s up with Ricardo? The upside (for him): He knows Paula is in with Sam, so he woos her, and since he’s so handsome and tall, and Paula is so stupid, she falls for him right away. They go to a club, she’s ready for more, but he goes to another appointment. Which is his downside. It’s with Bárbara. Yes, Sam’s plan with the texts has actually worked, getting Barb to think Ricardo wanted her, and Ric to think Barb wanted him. They end up outside the mansion, half dressed, making out in the car, as Sam works it so that Fran and George find out. George opens the car door, what’s the meaning of this?!!!!
George has not been idle, has also been trying to kill Gaspar. Gaspar is completely paralyzed for life (yeah, right), but then he opens his eyes. Fran sees this, it’s a great sign, but nothing more, he just stares straight ahead. Then Barb (this was earlier) goes in to cry for her Daddy, and Gaspar grabs her hand. He can move his hand! This is enough for George, enters the room, tells Gaspar sorry old man, but I can’t let you live, and is just about to disconnect the tubes when Fran enters, wonders what he’s doing there, and prohibits him from ever entering this hospital room again!
Hortensia tells the priest she knows Art doesn’t love Lisette, but who marries for love? When SHE got married, it wasn’t for love, either. But, Father, come look, we’re going to have the best decorations ever! The priest can only wring his hands. Later, Transito goes to Mara’s café, she probably wants to see the woman Carlos is so hot about. While she’s waiting for service, Horti enters to prohibit Mara from coming to the wedding. Horti also is appalled that Mara would allow a prostitute to order in her café, but Mara says she doesn’t discriminate, unlike Horti, who leaves in a huff. Back in her apartment, Mara’s Mom Elisa shows up, later meets Art, tells Mara she’s not leaving until Mara’s smile is back (this could be a while). Mara also goes to a doctor to see why she’s not pregnant yet. No, her boyfriend is to busy for testing right now, but she’s ready today!
Lisette meets Bert in his car, tells him Santi and Sam are going to flee, rather than thank her, he opens the door and tells her to scram, she’s not too happy about that. Santi is furious! How DARE Samanda try to escape. He visits Pancho, wants Pancho to lock up Santi, but Pancho says he hasn’t broken any laws here, because he just used the fake ID’s in other countries. So Bert (who earlier loudly proclaimed he’s “never broken any law, has the utmost respect for law”), calls Carlos, has him prepare a fake passport for Santi, and stash it in Santi’s papers. Bert then arrives at the inn, strides up to Santi’s room, even though Iván says he’s not there, and “accidentally discovers”, the fake passport, which he then turns over to Pancho, you have to arrest him now. Pancho can’t understand why someone would want to hurt his own brother, Bert acts as if he’s protecting children (Willy). There really is no bottom to how low Bert will go to get what he WANTS!
Many thanks, Hombre, for your dual recap. Like you, I was watching the painful Monday night football game (well, I don't know whether it was painful for you, but it sure was for me), so I had to wait until yesterday to watch Monday's episode. And last night, I crumped out and went to bed at 10. So your recap of last night's episode is MUCH appreciated!
I obviously can't comment on last night's episode, but there's one error in your recap that gave me pause. Near the beginning of your last paragraph, you wrote " Santi is furious! How DARE Samanda try to escape." I assume you meant Bert is furious. I probably wouldn't have cared about an obvious small error, but since I hadn't seen the episode, I was confused for a few moments.
Thanks so much for the recap Adriana, and on your CI recapping night.
Although I know I should have disapproved of it, I had a hearty laugh at the TC-Gris fight when a handful of TC's extensions came out in Gris' hands. All these tn women have such great hair. It was a nice reminder that so much of the beautiful flowing locks we see, didn't grow out of their heads. :)
It seems Rai is becoming more convinced that TC needs psychological help. But it's actually not easy to do this if the person doesn't want it.
Not happy that Pati gave in to Tony either, but she held out longer than I thought she would. It might be good to be in a real relationship with Tony (knowing the whole truth about him) to figure out if she can accept his faults and failings.
I was proud of Ro for standing up to Manuel again, but Manuel makes me nervous. I’m not sure who he’ll lash out at first.
Adriana, thanks for such a quick and funny recap. I got a kick out of, "Going back to K in 3,2,1…." I was wondering about that.
I think you're on to Manuel. He knows he'll be back in jail if he gets caught hurting anyone, so he'll have to be sneaky about his revenge. Sol and Celeste need to move - NOW!
Funniest part of the evening - Iris and Mario like a pair of cockroaches invading and eating everything in sight, and then packing the groceries back to their nest.
Awful! Pati caving to Tony. What a terrible (yet not completely unexpected) turn of events from the monkey writers.
Beth
Thank you so much Hombre
I really missed a recap yesterday.
I'm not sure but I think when Arturo was introducing himself to Mara's mom & Mara interrupted, she gave an incorrect last name for Arturo. Something unsavory about mom.
I think Santiago looked better with long hair.
Great recap, Adriana, thanks again!
The moto girl is Susana. I sure hope she's not hot for Rafa, although I guess that would protect Amalia a little. She also caught the name of the auto parts guy, Cardozo. She may read about Cardozo being arrested and put 2 and 2 together. I liked a remark that Leo made to Rafa. He said thank goodness for peeing! That is, he had to pee before going to deliver the parts, and fortunately arrived AFTER the police were there!
I also liked a scene where Diosa was outside of her apartment in a skimpy outfit. The boys were hooting at her, and she called them perverts. I think Tony showed up and said well how come you're wearing a transparent top! Then he remarked, now THAT's some anatomy! After which Pati showed up to hear it! But of course, she was overcome by her LOVE, oh well, we can still HOPE he'll change.
thanks so much Hombre!
it's nice to see Santa smile, if only for her evil plan of having Barbara and Ricardo being together and caught, interesting the confusion they have over who texted who first, but Barbara drops it all so they can get to the sex, this girl really has an appetite,
but Santa's evil, is peanuts compared to Humberto, interesting how he is using Carlos, who IS bad, to do the dirty work (make and plant the fake passport), but then is using Pancho to actually work the case, also interesting that he acts in such a way as to have Ivan, Lisette, and Victoria follow him into Santiago's room to witness him finding the passport, flashing them the fake name, then takes it with him to give to Pancho, good evidence in court but no one really saw what happened.
no sex with mom around, so neither Mara or Arturo are going to be smiling, interesting that she zero'd in on her daughter's unhappiness, and also the three years they have been going together, and... things are sure to get ugly when she finds out Arturo is marrying Lisette, and who thinks Arturo is sterile and can't have a child, that should shake up the marriage, or Lisettes money tree if she marries without knowing,
George cracks me up as usual, first Gaspar is dead, then he's alive, then he's paralyzed, then he moves,
and paying off the bad guys only doubled his debt, and now here is his wife boinking the chauffeur.
wasn't Francisca surprised that George was in Gaspar's room because it's intensive care and he wasn't on the list of people who could visit, I'm surprised anyone could even find that room,
I don't know if I'm buying Santiago's story, except I remember from Pablo Escobar, once he slept with a girl they became untouchable, but don't the bad guys as well as the press know him by his real name, is that why he has been staying away from his family, and only stopped by to play his sax for his dead twin, till he saw Santa.
yep, plunk Santa and willy in that old truck, and head down the road with narcos around every corner and a lawyer brother and crooked cop waiting for any mistake, sounds like a plan,
and from the sounds of the Santa/Santi chat earlier, they don't have a clue that Humberto is on to them.
Transito seems like such a nice person...
thanks Adriana!
I'm still not comfortable with Griselda buying that house, the upkeep and taxes is probably close to a million each year, it just seems like a drastic change for a simple person, but the other owners seemed happy to have her,
and wow, she really threw TC across the room, I wonder if Maritza did that stunt,
did Ro say "pipi" about his confrontation with Manuel,
I would have liked to have seen more on Elio,
should I assume that Pati has never been with another guy, is this what keeps here hanging around even though all of the signs say NO, Antonio is kind of a sweet soft spoken well meaning guy, until you are on to him, then it is all just a facade, but without the salesman touch that Rafa adds.
thanks Sue455 for jumping in and doing the recap for Monday,
I really appreciate it,
as far as last night's,
hmm,
Angel doesn't seem like such a bad guy when he is around Lupita, they kiss,
but ED's guys are after him,
loved seeing AA over at Margaritaville,
adding her unspoken facial comments to everyone's ideas,
later she hits the casino, and runs into Gema who is a waitress,
Miyezilla was busy stomping a ripped up photo of her and Pedro,
the police find Candy's things at the scene, but no Candy,
I guess I'm going to have to be the one to tell Pedro that Ignacia is his sister,
(but then I know that he is not),
I can't see sleepy dreamy eyed Estela spilling on this, will Enrique show up,
wow, JP seeing Tomas kissing his mother-in-law,
it will take a red hot poker in the eyes to get rid of those images,
will anyone make it to Karina's service,
nice pic JP has of her on his desk,
Pedro/Ignacia, I guess the honeymoon is over,
since she was making arrangements for him to go to nightschool,
what?, I'm not good enough for you as I am,
and Petra, Angel's mom, shows up at Marge's looking for a sewing job,
sorry, but no one will go to the store and actually buy another sewing machine.
Is this show starting to remind anyone else of the Beverly Hillbillies? I'm sure there's a cement pond in back. Amalia might be a stretch as Elly Mae, but just try and tell me that Quique isn't Jethro.
Not watchimg this but I'm surprised that Gaspar is still around. I'll call him Lagarto. Like our favorite corrupt cop from La Patrona, Gaspy takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
MARIDO
I haven't been watching this at all since it moves so slow. I'm catching up and have reached the finding the lotto ticket ep and a few thoughts: Gabe cleaned up well and has more natural chemistry with Gris-of course since irl the actors are dating. Paloma and Celeste are great friends to Gris! They made sure to search the house for that ticket and could have easily took it for themselves if they wanted to. Money or no, with friends like them, Gris will be alright.
I can't believe Pati still falls for Tony's charms. Yes, Utah, Quiqui gives off Jethro vibes.
Pedro wants to know what truth the three women in the kitchen are discussing. Gina starts to say something but Marge interrupts and lies that she is getting a second opinion in another city. Marge you are a selfish woman. Pedro is getting involved in an incestuous relationship and all you care about is your feelings? Abuela starts to feel ill and Ignacia takes her home. Nothing was eaten. Marge begs Pedro that whatever happens he won't reject her.
Angel is sitting in a park and Lupita comes up to him. She complains about Reuben. He takes her to a place he goes to when he wants to be alone. He tells her he needs to escape from his mistakes. They both scream. Lupita says she feels better and Angel kisses her. She pushes him away and leaves. At home Mamá informs Angel that she had to lie to JM. Angel tries to inflict a guilt trip by saying that Mamâ doesn't believe he's changed.
Mireya tells Oleg she wants to disappear. Not travel, disappear. We assume permanently.
Ignacia advises Abuela to go to bed so she'll feel better. Abuela is trying to tell her about Pedro but she isn't listening. Ignacia is dismayed because Abuela was the only one on her side and now she's withdrawing her support. Tomás calls out for Abuela and Ignacia runs away. It seems that Ignacia ran by the area where Tomás came in so why didn't he see her? He finds Abuela alone and wonders why she's talking to herself. Abuela goes into "Dexter's Kitchen" (thanks Amy!) and wonders, "What do I do?"
Next morning Isabel says she wants to rent out the spare bedroom. Mamá nixes the idea saying she doesn't want strangers in her home. She saw a sign on a neighbor's house about sewing and she wants to look into that since she used to do sewing for people. Angel thinks he can support the family. Isabel is going to rent the bedroom anyway.
Ignacia calls about some kind of technical class (for Pedro?) that offers evening classes.
Pedro tells Gina that he's so much happier now that he's got his old job back. Gina is not thrilled.
Neto begs Oleg not to take Mireya with him when he moves away. Ignacia comes in and asks to speak to Oleg about a couple things. Neto, your time may be up.
It's a wonder that Mariano ever completes a painting the way everyone is always interrupting his work. This time it's Abuela who is on the verge of telling him the truth but remembers that she agreed not to at Gina's request. She tells him to speak to Gina ASAP.
Pedro returns to work. Ignacia welcomes him. She gives Neto the cold shoulder.
Mamá's will hereafter be referred to as Petra which someone had mentioned in the comments some time ago but I forgot. Petra introduces herself to Marge and tells her that she sews very well. Marge says she no longer has the business and is about to move away. Petra gives her her name and phone number in case she changes her mind.
Angel leaves Lupita a message. He notices a car driving slowly behind him. He suspects it's El Duro's goons and starts to run. The car chases him but Angel manages to get away.
Estela is obviously feeling better because she is her b¡tchy self with Isabel. Nope, I was wrong. Estela complains to Tomás that she feels sleepy all the time. She thinks she's going crazy. Tomás tries to calm her down. They kiss. Ew. JM is standing outside the door and can see everything. Estela feels so alone. Tomás reminds her she has a mother, two children and an ex-husband so she isn't alone. They kiss again. JM walks away. Isabel reminds him of Karina's service but he goes into his office.
Abuela is at the casino. She orders two margaritas from Gema and tells her she's there to distract herself from worrying. Gema says she worried too–about a friend who has disappeared. When Gema brings Abuela her drinks Abuela starts talking about her family. They are all crows that feed on dead bodies. No, she brought up a vulture who is just waiting for her to die.
The police find Candy's personal effects in a field. They declare her missing.
Gina visits Ignacia at the site and asks her how much it will cost for her to leave Pedro alone. Ignacia is insulted. Gina informs her that she is the one who got her job back and that she can pull all kinds of strings. Ignacia tells her to keep her money.
A sullen Mireya (is she any other way?) is looking at a picture of her and Pedro. She remembers Pedro telling her that he and Ignacia are a couple and she tears the picture into little pieces and stomps on them. She says she didn't spend all this time in that wheelchair (which she kicks) for nothing. She, in Mireya-fashion knocks over a container on the table. In the container is a bottle of pills. We see a light bulb go off in her head.
Neto is on his way to see Mireya. Lupita says that Mireya shouldn't be mad at her. After all, they will have to live together when Oleg and Marge move away together. Marge asks Lupita, "What trip?" Reuben shows up with flowers and asks to speak to Lupita.
Ignacia wants Pedro to stop calling her "usted." He says that at work she is his boss but outside she owns his heart and he calls her "tú." Ignacia tells Pedro about the information on the technical classes. Pedro isn't interested in attending and asks her why she can't love him the way he is.
Mireya writes, "No puedo soportar tanto dolor (I can't take so much pain)." A suicide note? Neto comes in and begs her to stay. She pushes him into the table and he discovers the empty bottle of pills. "What did you do with these pills Mireya?"
One thing stood out for me last night: they cross-pollinated two previously separate storylines: Abuela has met Gema, and also, Petra (Isabel's mom) has met Marge. The muddy waters will soon be flowing in one even bigger muddy stream...
By the way, as the biological mom, I think it is up to Gina what and when to divulge Pedro's parentage. Just ssyin'....

Oh, one other thing: THANK YOU AnotherAmy!
Also the sub-recaps from Sue455 and Deb were much appreciated!
J in Oregon
Thanks, Hombre, for pulling the last 2 days together. You actually covered so much of the action very succinctly. It seems to me that almost every character had an important scene Monday and Tuesday.
I wonder how Paula will take the news about Ricardo being caught in flagrante with Babs. She and Sam had not discussed Sam's revenge plan for Barbara.
If drug lord Franco really is looking for Santi (and I'm not convinced he is), then Wee Willy could be in danger since Santi announced he's the boys father.
Bert looked truly evil in the scene with Lisette in the car. His eyes were pale, narrowed and hateful. Kinda scary.
Lucy just doesn't take "no", does she? Her rant to Begona about not letting Pancho break up with her was fun to watch.
I wonder if Mara will take Elisa to the wedding.
Beth
your comment about Quique being Jethro. For some
reason that really tickled me.
Life interrupts and I won't be able to do a recap for Wednesday's show. If anyone would like to step in...
You know how it is when you bite more than you can chew?
This is me now with the Marido recaps - I have a hectic day today, I won't be able to write a recap; after I actually watch the show, in the afternoon, I might get the time for a brief rundown, like the one from yesterday, but I can't promise.
In the meantime, if anyone would like to step in, pleeease do!!!
I definitely need to give up some of the recaps due to my schedule. I'm busy like a bee, no time left for the Palmer-Carrasco brawls...
I'm back and can recap today's show (although not until tomorrow)! Thanks so much for stepping in Sue and Deb... I used your recaps to get caught up!
OK, so Ignacia is being kind of annoying with this night school thing. I'm with Pedro on this one, she needs to back off and just enjoy who he is. We couldn't just have them be giddy together for even a little while before getting the news of their supposed siblinghood...
So Isabel and family are barrio neighbors... this explains why Angel is always running into Lupita. I don't know why I didn't put two and two together before.
And we are finally seeing the subplots merging... Abue and Gema, Petra and Margarita, etc. It's about time! Although I'm not sure I can handle both Mopey and Dopey in the same scenes.
No worries Adriana. We understand that you have a life. It’s amazing that you have been able to recap Marido everyday, and do CI recaps.
It was a boring episode, so you didn’t miss much. The best scene was between Paloma and Ivan. Here are the low-fat highlights.
-Pati and Tony do the deed, and she confirms to him that they are novios once again. They make out at school, and now everyone knows they are back together. They are both grinning from ear to ear like lovesick fools.
-Rei patches the bullet hole in the wall, as TC sleeps, and recalls the crazy things she said about Gris being on the other side of the mirror mocking her, and that one of them has to die. He tells Ro that it’s time they all stopped dancing around the issue—TC needs psychiatric help.
-Ro checks in on TC and she’s sleep talking. Her mention of a murder makes him ask her follow-up questions and he learns that she killed a Mafioso who was after Tia Iris, and that Fernando (is that his name?) helped her get rid of the body. Ro is beside himself to learn this.
-Marcela comes to Ester and JP’s home and makes another play for him, wearing a sexy black dress and stockings. (She has a tattoo down her spine.) Despite initially resisting, he sleeps with her in his and his WIFE’S house, and in the bed he shares with his WIFE. I am so done with him now. Meanwhile, Ester is having dinner with Alba and her sister-in-law at Gourmet Palmer, and being all sad about JP. She spends the night at Alba’s because she has her first treatment early the next day.
-Marcela continues her marriage destruction streak by interviewing Max, and telling him that his wife has been seen lately with another man…her ex husband. Max tries to brush it off as it being because they share a child, but he’s clearly upset since he’s having chest pains, trying to prove he’s still a champ in the ring, and Barbie is becoming more distant (and won’t make love to him).
-Barbie and Quique have a nasty, HUGE fight right in front of Kikito in front of his school. They both admit to him that Barbie is his mom. The other parents are watching and Kikito’s teacher has to come out to scold Q and Babs, and to drag a very upset Kikito away.
-Barbie runs to Gris and says she doesn’t want the money anymore. She just wants to be able to see her son. Gris is shocked. Clara tells Quique that she understands how Barbie could be changing and wants to see her child. Q is not willing to believe this.
-Gris confronts Elio. She doesn’t buy his story of falling from the sky, saying her name for no reason, and amnesia. She tells him she’ll be watching him.
-Manuel returns to the house, and Celeste says she’ll let him stay, but under her terms. He will never lay a hand on her again (either the good way or the bad way), or speak down to her again. Oh, and she’s going into business with Gris and will no longer be a house wife. If he doesn’t like it, then he can get the hell out. Manuel chooses to keep the peace, for now.
-Ivan pops up at Paloma’s posada and makes a play for her. He gets up close and personal. She keeps backing away, but you can tell she is dying to kiss him. They argue. She calls him a womanizer. He calls her arrogant. Things get a bit hot, but he leaves. Paloma then complains to Diosa about this. Diosa tells her that Ivan just hasn’t met the RIGHT woman, and Paloma could be that woman. Then Diosa, pretending to be Paloma, chats with Ivan on the dating sight. He wants to know why she was so cold to him. Paloma says that’s the way it will have to be in public, until they get to know each other better. Ivan is confused, but agrees.
-Gabe enters Gris’ house looking for her, but no one is there. Instead of leaving, like a normal person, he creeps up to her bedroom calling for her, and ends up lying on her bed sniffing her pjs. I think this is supposed to be cute, but I just find it creepy.
-Gris calls a family meeting for 4pm. Even Tony is invited.
Lots of things happened, as we approach the mini-climax of Art and Lisette’s wedding.
Bert tells Pancho to get on with it, get Santi in jail, you have the proof, I have 3 witnesses that saw me innocently discover the passport. Pancho is still reluctant, but agrees, although he has to go through Interpol, and it’ll take a few weeks to check things.
Iván tells Santiago about the passport, Santi is shocked, since he doesn’t have any fake passports. But Iván relates how Bert “found” it. Santi says Bert must have planted it. He then goes to find Bert, and punches him in the face, yelling how low you’ve gone, making a fake passport for me to get me in trouble! Bert acts innocent, it was there, and I’ve never been to your apartment before, how can you explain that? (we know it was Carlos). Anyway, this situation makes it even more dire for Santi, and he tells Sam they really have to leave, which they’ll do in a few days.
Sam has some more mischief of her own she wants to do. She overhears Francisca telling Bárbara (fresh from being caught with Ricardo) that Fran will never cover for her again, like that time “2 years ago”, when Fran had to clean up Barb’s mess. Sam takes this to mean that Fran ordered the killing of big Willy, so she vows Fran will be her next victim. She decides to install spy equipment in Fran’s room, goes to an electronics store, and who should be there but Iván, who agrees to help her, and not even tell Santiago about this.
Iván also finally has the $2500 to redeem the cameo for Vicky, but hasn’t done it yet.
Fran has insisted to Bert that he fire Ricardo, and what else can Bert do? So he angry tells Ricardo (calling him Orlando) what an idiot he is, as says stay away from the house for now, but I made need you later. Ricardo leaves, goes back to Paula, at her house, she’s swept away by his charms, and they have sex. She seems to see the bull tattoo on his forearm, but it’s in the middle of their passion, so she doesn’t think about what it was, or means (for now). However, whiles she’s in the afterglow, Ric takes out her purse, opens it, sees a photo of Willy, recalls to his surprise killing that guy! I guess Ric knew Paula was working with Sam, but not the actual connection. Paula wakes up, what are you doing looking through my stuff?!!!
Gaspar is making some progress, he’s moving his hand, and now, he’s making growling sounds, but still can’t talk. The doctor agrees he can come home in a few days. So we have a montage of the few days, showing all the characters in their devious things, as we approach the wedding. This is also the day Sam and Santi are leaving, she’s been packing secretly. When Gaspar is brought home, he stares fixedly at George, looks very intense, prompting Barb to later ask George, just what did you do to cause my Dad to look at you like that?!!
Mara’s Mom Eliza actually seems to be quite nice. But neither Mara nor Art dare tell her that Art is marrying Lisette. They also won’t let Eliza meet Hortensia, making various excuses. After a few days, Eliza decides things are probably okay, and she’s going to leave tomorrow (everything is tomorrow), so they can have their peace. Mara and Art breathe a sigh of relief.
Inés wakes from a nightmare, she was strapped down on a table and they were putting her under with anesthesia. I’m getting the feeling she had some sort of psychotic event in her past, and her father Vicente doesn’t want to bring it back up. She tells him it’s a memory, he says no, just a dream.
Lucy tells Begoña she’s going to the wedding, even though Pancho says he broke up with her. She’s marrying Pancho, how else can she get out of being a maid, either she will marry him, or she WILL marry him! She’s determined. Pancho, not so much.
Sam tells Willy they’ll be leaving with Santiago, and Willy smiles and hugs her. Sam, of course, hasn’t told Begoña or Paula. Wait til THEY find out!
Carlos tells Iván again to find out who sent the Te Amo email to Vicky. I hope Iván does, since we’re pretty sure it’s that weirdo Patricio (whom Carlos likes!).
It’s the night of the bachelor party. Lisette had wanted to have her party at Mara’s café, but no way. Lisette also realizes that Mara’s Mom doesn’t know, but hasn’t told her so far, and Eliza is out for the evening at the movies alone.
Since she’s alone, Mara call Art, come on over, we can be together finally, my mother is out. Horti had told Carlos to make sure Mara doesn’t come to the wedding (which he’ll be happy to do), and to watch Mara. Carlos sees Art enters Mara’s house, calls Horti, I don’t know why, but your son is visiting Mara tonight. In typical telenovela fashion, just as Art and Mara get into their lovemaking, Hortensia enters, and CATCHES them in the act!!!!!
Tonight should be wild!
Thank you, Amy, Sue and Deb, for your recaps for Tues. Since I've been missing large parts of episodes, your efforts are truly appreciated.
So much talking, but so few secrets revealed. It seems this tn has more interrupted discussions and revelations than others I can remember.
Iggy wants to make Pedro her pet project. Even though she backed off her push for night school and new career goals, she didn't get what Pedro was telling her.
Will someone PLEASE buy Marge a new sewing machine.
Lupita's little ears pick up everything - Gina's secrets and now Oleg's travel plans.
We still don't know if Candy is dead or alive.
No way is Miyezilla (good one, Deb!) going to commit suicide.
Beth
Thanks, Vivi, great mini-cap!
One thing I really don't like about this show is that almost no one can resist sexual pressure. This includes Pati, Penny, Amalia, and JP, to name a few. They say no, don't want to have sex, but the aggressive partner insists, and they give in. Gris is just about the only strong one (well, Paloma, for now, but with Diosa butting into her private life, who knows?). I just absolutely hate it when anyone, male or female, sort of forces another person, even if it's only kissing, not sex. No means No!
Hombre - great recap of a fast moving episode! Thank you. Lots going on and the plot(s) are becoming more intertwined.
What a "dream" Ines had. I can only imagine what kind of surgical procedure she was having.
Barbara isn't just a hot body - she knows something happened between Gaspar and George. Maybe she can protect the old guy.
Paula and Ric remind me of two snakes now that they are awake and she's caught him rifling through her wallet and he's figured out she's connected to Willy. I want to see what kind of dance they'll be doing with each other.
I just loved Horti walking in on Mara and Art. Is Elisa the next one through the door? The mothers could have a nice chat.
Beth
Thank you, Vivi, your recap was much appreciated, especially since I haven't had the chance to watch, yet. This has been one of those crazy days.
So Tony and Pati are together again for real... I wonder what made her change her mind. This is not the first time they've had sex since they're break-up, but that other time she was so not into it. So why now? Maybe so that she gets to move in with him right across the street from TC's hysteria?
I'm trying to stay positive about this, maybe now that he will be able to be his own self around her, she gets to see what a prick he really is.
Fantastíco Hombre
This is certainly not a boring novela. So many things coming from all directions.
Can't believe Sam would leave w/o finishing her venganza, of course we know she won't. Maldito Humberto will find out.
I felt that Paula got the toro tattoo & has sth planned, let's hope.
Now Iván knows, this isn't much of a secret anymore.
You'd think that someone in Gaspar's condition would need at least 24/7 nursing care to stay in his house. Normally, he would have gone to a rehab hosptial to get intensive therapy.
thanks Hombre,
you have such a smooth way of telling this story,
oh yea, when Lisette was at the Cafe she meets Mara's mom, and lets it our that she is marrying Arturo, not the same Arturo Mara blurts out as she drags Lisette off, interesting that Lisette takes note that this is something she can use in her favor, it's probably good for this town that Lisette isn't running the whore house,
I didn't quite understand why Santa has her bag packed, and tucked under her bed, while she is beginning this project of spying on Francisca, not to mention that she should be spying on Humberto as well.
Deb, Santa's plan is to leave with Santi AND spy on Francisca. When she meets Ivan in the store, she tells him that she wants a camera that she can access from anywhere in the world.
I guess that she is going to give up on Humberto, for which Paula and Begonia will doubtless have something to say if she and Santi even get to the point where they could actually leave.
Mireya tells Neto she has no reason to live without Pedro. Neto is worried and tearful, and lovingly tells her that she has him… he thinks that destiny has brought him to her. Then she begs him to help her separate Pedro and Ignacia.
Ruben brings Lupita flowers and asks her to come back to the apartment, he doesn’t want to live without her and wants them to be together when the baby is born. She’s happy, and so are Marge and Gina. Oleg arrives and Marge asks him “Um, what is this about you moving away and taking me with you??”
JM is distraught at Karina’s service. Isabel comforts him and tells him he will always have Karina in his heart (BLECK). He says the only thing he has in his heart is guilt (for WHAT exactly???) and he always will. They grab hands (awwwww….).
Mariano shows up at Margaritaville (love it!) and demands to speak with Gina. In the kitchen alone, he is more suspicious than ever that Gina is hiding something about Pedro and he demands that she tell him the truth.
Neto, who has apparently promised to help Mireya, is leaving her house. She’s reminding him to keep his promise, and sees Pedro approaching from behind. She beckons Neto over and kisses him and gushes about how she likes his kisses. Neto sees Pedro, realizes what just happened, and kisses her again. Pedro is SO not jealous.
Estela is histerica once again and tells Tomas she wants to confess the truth. Bye, bye, Estela. It was (not) nice knowing you. He tries to convince her that terrible things will happen if she tells, but she just wants to get rid of the Karina the Unfriendly Ghost.
JM goes to see Ignacia at the apartment and tells her that the autopsy reports say that Karina was pregnant. It could have been his (I didn’t need to know this, by the way), but the timing was off. It was Tomas’s kid.
Angel gets a threatening package full of stinky bones from ED. He knows where he lives and he wants his money.
Pedro asks Mamacita Santa what she thinks about him going to nightschool, which apparently he has always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. She loves the idea and wants to pay with some special savings she has. He resists, but she insists.
JM has put Isabel in charge of the delivery and installation of various appliances for LA Supreme. Angel starts planning the next robo.
Ignacia breaks the news to Tomas that Karina was pregnant with his baby. Estela is listening. Lady MacStela goes into a tailspin at the knowledge that she also killed Karina’s unborn child. Back in the living room, Tomas is affected for a minute but recovers quickly… if the child wasn’t with Ignacia, he doesn’t think of it as his. Iggy informs him she’s meeting with a lawyer tomorrow to start divorce proceedings.
Angel and The Rat plan the robo of LA Supreme, and Angel wants to be sure that Isabel doesn’t get connected to it.
El Duro wants Zafiro to keep an eye out for Gema and inform him if she comes across her.
AA sneaks out of the house again. Angel sneaks the LA Supreme brochure out of Isabel’s purse.
Tomas visits the rest home and requests more sedatives from his pet nurse. He also tells her to reserve another room because he’ll be bringing someone else here soon for her to care for. He visits papa, and with a surprising tear running down his cheek (Yikes! Your eyes are broken!) he confides in Papa that he killed his own child. “What did I do??”
Marge is avoiding her clients because she hasn’t been able to finish their orders without her sewing machine. Pedro thinks Mireya should pay for the machine but Marge and Gina don’t agree (ugh! M never even apologized or expressed the least bit of regret!). Gina is going to buy one today.
Mireya shows up at Tomas’s office and he is intrigued. She warns him that if he won’t do anything about Ignacia, she will. He enchants her with his dark charm, and thinks it’s a great idea to team up. This was a great scene… Sofia and Tomas knocked it out of the park—she’s determined but somewhat taken off-balance, he’s dark and creepy and muy suave… it should be interesting to see what these two come up with!
Thanks, Vivi, for stepping up to the plate. Great recap. I especially liked your take on Marcela's "marriage destruction streak." I hope something really nasty happens to her.
As for Pati and Tony...I can only repeat Adriana's eloquent comment from yesterday: BLECH!
Many thanks, Hombre, both for your excellent recap of Wednesday's Santa episode and for your comment re how few people seem to be able to resist sexual pressure on Marido. I'm particularly unhappy about JP and about Pati.
On "Santa," I'm not sure what to make of Paula's non-reaction to the bull tattoo on Ricardo's arm. Did it really not register, or is she just keeping her thoughts to herself? She'd certainly be smart not to confront Ricardo about it--he's stronger and a killer. Indeed, I don't have a good feeling about what's likely to happen tonight, since she's confronting him about going through her wallet.
PURPLE SHIRT ALERT! It started with Tomas' purple jacket earlier this week. Tonight, he wore the jacket with a deeper purple shirt. But later in the episode, Mariano was also wearing a purple shirt (under a gray jacket). Then in the last scene, Abuela had on a purple shirt. And if that's not enough, Al Roker was wearing a purple jacket this morning on the Today Show.
Sorry, I just had to vent.

part 1
* the night before the wedding
Hortensia, who has walked in on Mara/Arturo making love totally rips on Mara,
as a half dressed Arturo drags her out,
Ricardo (who Humberto has called Orlando earlier as well as that being the name tacked onto his text messages to Barbara) is caught going through Paula's wallet,
she grabs her things,
he asks if the picture (of Willy) is her novio,
no it's my brother,
you are too pretty to be single,
as they chit chat, soften, then tease, there way back to bed,
George, in their bedroom, looks at Barbara with his usual disgust,
Barbara, is still wondering why Gaspar was upset around George,
she forbids him to go near his room,
Humberto, at the strip club bachelor party, (which Arturo left),
is pressuring Pancho to arrest Santiago,
the law is precise, these things take time,
Vicente tells Ines, her memories are only nightmares,
he says he only wants to make her happy,
she says Santiago makes her happy,
Vicente says he will make sure they are together soon, for a long, long, time,
when alone he asks for forgiveness,
as Arturo went to Mara on the night before his wedding,
we find Lisette with Humberto,
Humberto is distant,
Lisette wants to know if he is thinking about Amanda, AGAIN,
* it's morning, the day of the wedding,
Santa is packed and tells willy they are leaving with Santiago,
"Santiago", willy says and hugs her,
Santiago is packed and quietly says his goodbyes to Ivan and Victoria,
then sneaks his stuff out to his truck,
Mara visits the doctor,
she is sterile, she can never have a baby,
she is crushed,
(was there something else the doctor wanted to say)
Mara stumbles off,
Santiago meets Santa outside of Casa Cano, she loads her bag in the truck,
(it always amazes me how these people with giant houses pack up everything they need in a couple of small bags)
as the great escape goes into even slower motion,
Santiago goes in to say goodbye to his father,
Mara returns home totally crushed,
Arturo, who is ecstatic as he has finally decided to blow off the whole wedding,
greets her with his best smirk,
she tells him it's over between them,
(in quite a few words),
go and marry Lisette,
he leaves hurt, confused,
part 2
Santiago talks Francisca into letting him spend time with willy,
so she can get ready for the wedding,
he brings willy back to the truck where Santa is waiting,
they are all ready to go,
Barbara visits Gaspar,
open your hand if George had something to do with the accident,
he doesn't,
(maybe he's afraid of what George might do to her)
I guess no one has been to the bank either,
Paula gives her new boyfriend morning goodbye kisses,
asks about his bull tattoo,
(but she hasn't made the connection)
as Ricardo walks out, Begona walks in,
they are both taken back,
(didn't Santa tell Begona about Ricardo/Barbara?)
as Ivan, the spy camera specialist awaits Amada's call,
he sends an email, 'te amo mucho",
Victoria gets it, wonders who it is from,
Hortesia is putting finishing touches on Lisettes wedding dress,
Arturo walks in,
Lisette tries to hide, it's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding,
yes, bad luck, Arturo mumbles,
so Santa, willy, and Santiago are finally on the road,
to visit Paula and Begona,
she tells of her plan to have Ivan install cameras in Francisca's room,
when all are at the wedding,
Paula and Begona are not happy about yet another person in on their doings,
we see Vicente open a heavy door to a cellar and walk halfway down the stairs,
he throws a bag down the rest of the way,
brought some food,
says to himself, god forgive me,
he walks back out, closes the door,
the Canos are ready to leave for the wedding,
will Ivan be there, Daniela wants to know,
but where's Amanda,
and where is willy, Humberto realizes,
(well on their way out of town maybe)
as Humberto remembers Lisette telling him they are planning on leaving,
nope, she is just late, be ready in a minute,
does she get ready,
she calls Ivan to come in a half hour when the house will be empty,
Humberto gets her moving,
Mara's mother gets home, finds her daughter totally destroyed,
who tells about Arturo getting married,
it's over between us,
her mother says, we're going to the wedding,
* at the church
Hortensia tries to get the padre to leave the "if any one here..." out of the ceremony,
the padre doesn't go for it,
Vicente with Pancho and Ines arrive,
Lucy, looking extra super, is waiting on the curb and snares Pancho,
I thought you two broke up, Vicente asks,
as those two enter, Hortesia greets Pancho, says the invitation was for him, only,
no servants,
Pancho gets a call, he walks away to take it,
his arrest authorization came through,
Victoria who is off to the church alone is stopped by Carlos,
Patricio comes down the stairs ready to go with her,
Ivan is met by Begona at Casa Cano, she takes him to Francisca's room,
he starts setting up,
but Francisca has returned, looking for her cell phone,
Mara and her mother show up at the church, dressed nice,
and are met by our nasty door greeter, Hortensia,
(I'm thinking this will never work)
Hortensia stops them cold,
Mara's mom slaps Hortensia so hard she just about knocks her to the ground,
wow...
Part 1
Barbie goes to talk to Gris at her house. Gris thinks that once she’ll give her the money, Barbie will disappear. Barbie says that she might not want the money, after all; she just wants Quique to allow her to see her son. Gris doesn’t believe a word, throws Barbie out, but she’s left wondering.
TC finally wakes up, with Ro watching her. She’s hungry, she wants to eat a liver - the cooked kind, I presume, but she could be content eating Ro’s fresh one, too.
Max arrives at the hotel, all fired up after his interview with Marcela. Barbie has been crying, but tries to cover. Max demands to know why she is meeting her ex. She only admits to meeting Q once, to talk about the money she wants from Gris – if they have that money, Max won’t need to fight, anymore. She left everything behind for him, even her child – Max doesn’t appreciate the accusation, he didn’t force her to do anything. And he wants to fight no matter what, he doesn’t even care if he ends up dead in the fight.
At the taco bar Q is furious because Barbie is asking about his son; Gabe thinks that she has rights, too, Q doesn’t agree.
Later on he asks Gabe for permission to leave early due to his mother’s reunion. Gabe wants to go, too, but both Q and Clara make it clear that he was NOT invited. After Q leaves, Gabe is left to his fantasizing… could we be spared of his adoring monologues? He’s beyond tiresome and annoying.
And talking about annoying, Tony and Pati are all lovey dovey at school. He wants her to come to Gris’ reunion, too, she’ll be part of the family soon enough. Smooch, hug, F…. Pati has a great smile, why does she have to waste it on this fool?
Esther finished her first treatment, she reminds Alba to call JP – Alba does it, but JP rudely hangs up the moment he hears her name. Esther is sure it was a mistake, but Alba is not stupid, she got JP’s message wide and clear. (Then, how about you get some distance from this couple, before this turns into a complete mess?) She tells Esther that she thinks she should stop the treatment for now and concentrate on her marriage, that is in a worst shape then she imagines.
Part 2
TC asks Ro to investigate among the neighbors, see if her crisis the other day made an impression. Then she goes to visit Rei during the afternoon hours, when the restaurant is closed for the public. She is very lovable, thanks him for his patience. She accepts that maybe she overreacted, but that delinquent (Griselda) attacked her.
Rei would rather talk about her, though, he wants her to go see a psychiatrist. He promises to stand by her, provided that she asks for help.
TC is not happy with his suggestion, she is not loca (heh); Rei never said that, but he does find her disturbed. And now she needs to leave, dinner hour is approaching, he needs to work.
Vanesa spies on them, with Simon, once again warning her to butt out; he also mentions that he doesn’t like her because she’s dangerous (Does he think that Vanesa might stand a chance with Rei? Do we?)
Before leaving, TC asks for a movie kiss, which Rei agrees to. They do the famous VJ Day Kiss (the sailor and the nurse kissing in Times Square), with TC almost touching the floor, while the staff applauds (I loved the scene because of Vanesa who was looking, too, fuming). After that TC leaves, not before saluting her audience like a true star.
We see Barbie at school, looking at Quiquito adoringly.
Rafa and Amalia are kissing on the couch, Gris lets them know she is there, too. Tony and Pati arrive just then. Pati won’t stay for the reunion, she just came to give Gris a hug (which she does). Gris is very moved, happy to see Pati is so different from TC. Pati leaves and Rafa follows, but before that he tries to prove that he’s a great catch, too, by awkwardly giving Gris a biiiig squeeze, (in the LOL moment of the night) – he only manages to slightly freak her out, though, even if Amalia tries to explain that he’s just a lovable guy.
Left only with her younger kids, Gris wonders what is going on with the 2 Q’s, who are not home yet.
Tony wants to start the reunion without them (this guy….), but Gris refuses.
Just then Q calls, Barbie came to school and took his son, someone saw her. Gris thinks they should call the police, but Tony thinks they shouldn’t involve the authorities, because Barbie is the mother. Gris agrees, asks Q to go to the hotel where Barbie and Max are staying – she and Amalia go to join him, Tony is to stay home, wait for news.
Once alone, Tony calls Pati, explains what happened. She comes running, she’s worried, too. Tony, not so much, he’s sure Barbie won’t hurt Quiquito; how about they go to his room and have some sex while they wait? Pati is shocked by his request (that’s it, girl, see him for what he really is!), they agree to eat ice cream instead. (small steps, Pati, you’ll see what a “prize” you have in Tony!)
At the hotel, Max is trying to reach Barbie, who has her phone off. He gets a call from the reception, it’s Q, who came ready to fight and scream and be an orangutan (yes, he’s worried, but he’s always acting like this).
Max explains that he doesn’t know anything, Q wants to fight him all the same, Gris arrives to intervene just in time. Thankfully, she believes Max. She calms down Q and she decides they should wait for Barbie to come back to the hotel. Q reluctantly agrees.
Part 3
Esther goes to Fina Estampa, reproaches JP that he didn’t want to talk to Alba. They end up fighting again, at first JP tries to dissimulate, but he ends up agreeing that he didn’t want to talk to Alba because she stole his wife.
After writing her gossip piece on Max, Marcela calls JP, she’s ready for another booty call – but he’s not, he’s busy and besides, how about it they let things happen spontaneously – so he’s not fighting her anymore – I guess Marcela could call that a progress.
JP goes to the restaurant, to talk to Rei about his sister. Rei tells him things between he and TC are not great, JP doesn’t think he’s the best to give matrimony advice right now. Rei explains that for now he’s not thinking about a separation, he thinks TC needs psychiatric help. JP doesn’t think that TC is crazy, just because she doesn’t like Gris, but Rei explains how out of control she became at the condominium reunion and how he thinks her capable of murder.
And talking about murder, Ro remembers TC sleep talking and confessing how she killed the Mafioso. He’s still pretty shaken up about it, just as Iris and Mario arrive for another feast. They ask for champagne, Ro laughs in their face. Later on TC catches them eating and asks them to leave, not before handing Iris a good stash of cash, though.
The night comes, Gris, Q, Amalia and Max are still waiting for Barbie at the hotel. She is with Quiquito at a restaurant, spending some mother-son quality time. He’s happy to be with her, wants to know why she lied about not being his mom the other day – Grandma Gris always tells him lying is not good. He loves Gris a lot, his dad doesn’t love Barbie at all, though, he always says bad things about her when he thinks he’s not listening;
Quiquito adds that he can barely remember her and only thanks to the pictures his dad has in the living room and in his own bedroom.
Barbie is surprised to hear this (I think the information gives her pause).
Later on she decides to take the child home, he wants to spend more time with her, but she knows Gris and Q would cause her big troubles for that.
Tony and Pati see them on the street and call the people waiting at the hotel.
Once home, Barbie asks Quiquito a few questions about the family, trying to get a feel of the place again. He wants to show her something, so they go upstairs, although Barbie doesn’t think it’s such a good idea.
In the meantime Tony and Pati are watching from the outside, wanting to make sure Barbie won’t leave with the child again.
Gris, Q, Amalia and Max arrive, Q is ready for a scandal again, his mom asks him to remain calm. They all go inside (Pati decides to stay outside), Q finds his son and Barbie in his room, looking at a picture of the three of them. He looks like he wants to kill Barbie, but I don’t find him endearing at all. If anything, today I like Barbie a little bit more than before (not too much, but I did appreciate that she only wanted to spend time with her son and she didn’t tell him any crap about his family).
Thanks Deb for the recap.
Samanda and Santi sure were taking their time about skeddadling. At one point, Samanda, young Willie and Santi were in Santi's truck with their luggage. Why didn't they just go? These very complicated plans usually go awry as I'm sure this one will.
OK, who is the person that Vincete is bring food to in the basement? It's got to be either the supposedly dead wife or a supposedly dead sibling of Ines. I can't remember if Ines was one of the of people in this novela who was a twin or had otherwise lost a sibling. I recall that there were several.
The appearance at the same time of the mystery basement resident and Ines' recollection of some surgical procedure would suggest that they are connected.
Great recap, Deb! So many things are going on. I agree with Jean, this getaway is a bit....slow.
As for the basement, here are my two ideas: 1) A guy raped Ines, the operation was an abortion, but Vicente is punishing the rapist by keeping him prisoner for life, or 2) Ines gave birth years ago, the child was "not normal", and is in the basement. Okay, let's hope it's not #2. I think Jean's ideas are better.
It's funny how no one knows all the secrets. Among others, we have (and some of this is my guessing):
Samanda: Knows almost everything, but not that Bert knows.
Bert: Knows about Sam's revenge, but not that Santi knows about big Willy.
Ivan: Knows about Santi and Sam's love, but not the revenge.
Santi: Knows about the revenge, but not Sam's bugging of Fran's room.
Begona: Knows about the revenge, but not that Bert knows, and not that Sam and Santi are planning on leaving.
Ricardo: Knows that Sam was married to big Willy, whom he killed, and just found out that he was Paula's brother. But he's a dope, and will probably screw things up (I hope).
Paula: Doesn't know Sam and Santi are leaving, almost seems not to have realized Ricardo was the chauffeur (!), Sam just told her, didn't know about the texts with Barbara, is basically clueless.
And these are the people who know a LOT. Most of the other characters are truly in the dark. But we viewers know almost everything, except we know almost nothing about Ines, and Vicente's basement dweller, and there's probably half a dozen reveals about who's really whose child we haven't seen yet!
thanks so much Adriana,
great recap!
I had to laugh when Reinaldo said he was having problems with TC and JP just said welcome to the club,
I really feel sorry for Max, tagging along, he really is in for a Barbie spin, and his fighting will probably kill him, he really is an incredible guy,
so Tony who Griselda left home to wait for little k goes out to buy ice cream.
I'm pretty sure Mara did tell Arturo she was sterile, so she could never give him the family he wanted. She then said they were through, gave him his freedom. And he left. Huh? If he truly loved Mara, he'd say NO, I don't care if you can't have children. Is he really going to go through with the wedding? Can Elisa stop it? Will Sam leave in the middle of it to escape? Will Santi be there? Will Pancho try to arrest him? Will Ivan be there? What's up with Patricio? Should be exciting!
Tks so much deb
My guess, Vicente is stashing his wife in the cellar, of course that is going to be wrong.Inez' nightmare was puzzling & probably has sth to do with the cellar dweller. I doubt it is a man unless he is drugged.
Didn't Ricardo recognize Begona as being a Cano maid?
Thanks for the recap, Adriana!
I also think Barbie is acting a little better these days. Q is still being a caveman. Max isn't acting too smart, either, with his fighting.
I wish I could have seen what Marcela's spine tattoo said, I think it's some words. She is really one bad character, with her marriage wrecking, troublemaking news articles, and crashing at TC's place. Of course Iris and Mario are freeloaders, but at least they're funny!
* The robo at LA Supreme goes down w/o a hitch (yet).
* Estela passes out a couple times. Ignacia, Ruben, and Mariano demand to speak to her doctor.
* Tomas and Mireya continue their discussion. She rolls out, and he follows her to the parking garage where she manages to inadvertently toss herself out of her chair (no little truck this time…) and knock herself unconscious. Tomas picks her up and takes her to his house to recover where he comes on strong after she wakes up. Could Mireya be the new Karina?
* Ignacia is warming up to Papa Mariano (slightly) and thanks him for being so supportive of sick Estela.
* Olegario buys Marge a new sewing machine. She doesn’t want to accept, but her tells her to think of it as a gift from her “prometido” (so I guess they’re engaged now?). That works for her. Marge decides she’d like to take Pedro and Lupita and move away with Olegario.
* Pedro has enrolled in night school and seems excited about it, which makes me feel a little better about Iggy pushing him into it. He seems jazzed for the opportunity, and she’s proud of him.
* Abue catches Iggy and Pedro making out and nearly has a coronary. Iggy is confused about why Abue has changed her opinion so suddenly, but AA is too flustered to say anything but “you two can never have a future together!” UGH. This secret (albeit false) has dragged on long enough!!
* Tomas gives Estela a big fat dose of sedative in her special tea. Could this be the cup that sends her over the edge?
* Neto gets a letter from the LA Civil Court and is kind of freaking out.
* JM mopes some more over at the crime scene of Karina’s death, calling her “mi amor.” He wants to know what really happened here. Isabel tries to comfort him by asking him to go for a cup of coffee but it’s too soon. Mopey JM = not so attractive. Let’s move on.
* Angel’s worried that his name is going to come up somehow in connection with the robo, and therefore the name of his sister. The Rat assures him they’re safe.
* Meeting of the minds at Casa Villanomayor—Estela, Tomas, Abue, Ruben, Ignacia, and Pedro all wind up in the living room hashing out the same issues as always, and Mireya rolls in. Pedro and Ignacia are all “Que the hell is SHE doing here?”
* Neto is jockeying for Oleg’s job after he goes away. Pedro is kind of amused.
* Ignacia and Mariano go to Tomas’s office, and JM takes Iggy for a minute to sign some papers. In the meantime, Mariano overhears Abue and Tomas talking about Estela’s fake tumor… Abue says they need to come clean. Tomas is washing his hands of the whole thing, saying the only two liars are Abue and Estela.
FINALLY the tumor is out of the bag.
Robot word: shignit. I'm totally using that in my next recap somehow.
J, I totally noticed the purple theme, too! It's quite amazing how Tomas can totally pull that look off without looking ridiculous. Ignacia has been on an electric-pink streak, which she pulls off pretty nicely too... I loved the outfit with the hot pink top, patterned skirt, red shoes, and deep teal bag.
Thanks so much Adriana! I ditto all the comments you made on our characters.
Gabe- Getting on my last nerves always butting into Gris’ life.
Quique- Real cavemen probably reacted with more tact that he did. Tone it down ten notches, please.
Tony- I hope Pati is starting to mentally keep track of Tony’s frequent expressions of self-interest and selfishness—his total lack of empathy for others. His nephew is missing, and all he can think of is getting a quickie in what is currently his nephew’s room. Ugh!
Will Rei actually get support from any of the other family members to pressure TC into getting mental help? JP didn’t seem to take it seriously at all. Rei now thinks TC is capable of murder (smart man), but Ro actually knows that TC committed murder. What are the chances that Ro will actually tell Rei what he heard/knows?
ooo, thanks Amy!
"Could Mireya be the new Karina?"
how did Mireya ever do that nose dive in her wheelchair, and Tomas takes her home to his bed to recover, what?, and so close their lips when he carried her back to her chair, and so funny the meeting at Casa Tomas, with new people continuing to show up, and Mireya rolling by,
so Margarita, who would never buy herself a sewing machine, uses her savings for Pedro's night school, Ignacia was so proud of him,
after the robo Angel returns home, dumps some stuff on the table, has a drink, grabs his stuff and is gone, leaving behind the brochure of the place, which Isabel then finds,
at the office, Isabel hears about the robo, but as she tries to talk, she becomes invisible and everyone rushes off.
Thanks, Adriana Noel, for your superb recap of Thursday's episode. I see that Urban Anthropologist's Weekend discussion topic on Caray this time is "Most Annoying Characters," and I almost felt like contributing the whole Marido cast! Well, not Reinaldo or Griselda (though sometimes even she irritates me), but so many others. Gabe, for one. I applauded when you wrote "could we be spared of his adoring monologues? He’s beyond tiresome and annoying." Yes! And then there's Tony (Blech). The only thing I have against Pati is that she likes this POS. But the person who annoyed me most last night, and on many other nights, is Quique, whom you quite rightly described as an orangutan. I think even his son is more mature than he is.
For a while now I've been expecting that Quique, with his muscular physique, will fight Max in the ring. I'm still thinking that that might happen, and that Max may depart this life during the fight. Frankly, if one of them has to go, I'd nominate Quique (or Tony or Rafa or Gabe or Leonardo or....), but all the attention to Max's health makes it seem as if he could indeed die during a fight. Oh well....
Thanks, deb, for your terrific recap. Yes, the exit of Santi/a and Willy does indeed seem to be occurring in slow motion. On Sunday, I'll be attending a performance of the opera Tristan und Isolde, and I think watching this week's p-r-o-l-o-n-g-e-d exit gives me good practice for watching Tristan's seemingly endless death scene.
I confess I was pleased when Mara's mother hauled off and socked Whoretensia. A mother's gotta do what a mother's gotta do. However, I've never understood what Mara sees in Arturo with his frozen-faced sneer. I agree with Hombre: if Arturo really loved Mara, he wouldn't have left when she told him to go. But, then again, he also wouldn't have agreed to placate his mother by marrying Lisette.
part 1
* at the church, mostly,
Hortensia enlists the help of the Padre to help block Mara and mom,
while Lucy slides on by,
Elisa talks up the church with the Padre
and manages to walk right in with Mara,
she picks out a choice seat where Arturo will be sure to see them,
Francisca returns home for her cell phone,
she senses she is being watched while in her room,
after she leaves Ivan crawls out from under the bed,
and goes back to work installing spy cameras,
Ines is acting funny, chatting with Vicente, talking about Santiago, her first novio,
he's NOT my first novio,
it's just a dream, Vicente reminds her,
she jumps up to leave, and runs into Santiago and willy,
her smile comes back,
she seats them there with her,
she is happy again, (shades of TC from Marido)
Humberto and his beautiful wife, Amanda, arrive at the church,
sit across the isle from Santiago,
Victoria is trapped into going with Patricio,
who wants to know if she would like a wedding like this,
she doesn't answer him,
Lisette arrives in a stretch limo,
but where is Arturo,
Hortensia is stressed,
this wedding is killing her (we hope)
you can't be here now, go drive around the block a few times,
Arturo is not answering his phone,
he's at home, sitting in a big chair, his head laid back, eyes open,
Pancho has made it back to the comisaria,
picks up his arrest warrant,
Santago slips out of the church,
Francisca arrives, asks Humberto,
is it me or is there something wrong with this wedding,
and where are the novios,
Daniela gets restless, gets up to see if Ivan is there,
Amanda as well goes out for some air,
Humbertos glazed eyes are discreetly scanning for details,
(is this guy is totally convinced he has the wool pulled over everyone's eyes)
Santa and Santiago (without willy) meet outside,
all is ready,
they head back in,
alas, Arturo arrives,
Hortensia calls Lisette, who is parked under a tree somewhere,
trying to get ahold of Ivan,
the Padre is not liking this marriage at all,
Arturo walks to the front of the church,
turns and waits for his bride,
sees Mara and Elisa, sitting right in front of him,
Lisette arrives, but wonders about Ivan,
as does Daniela who is still watching for him,
Hortensia walks her down the isle,
does she smile at Humberto, he looks away,
at Casa Cano, Begona checks on Gaspar,
are you trying to talk?
part 2
the ceremony continues with the usual pauses,
(so we can pull out our hair hoping they don't go through with it),
but in the end, acepto, acepto, no one speaks up,
you may kiss the bride,
Arturo only gives Lisette a peck on the cheek,
Santa looks at Santiago, their moment has come,
as it's finally done, Horentsia is in heaven, (we wish)
all stand to applause, as Pancho walks down the isle,
Santiago, you are under arrest,
Humberto does that lawyer smile he does without curling his lips,
but looses it fast so he can be upset like his mother,
Santa has that blank, totally lost, look she does so well,
the ceremony is over so the crowd follows the police with Santiago,
out of the church,
Elisa tells Hortensia, the wedding was,
unforgettable,
* that night
Ines in bed, has that dream/memory again,
Vicente hires a private detective to find out everything about Santiago,
false names, where and why, discreetly, talk only to me,
at the comisaria, Francisca is frantic with Humberto, the best lawyer in town, to do something,
he stumbles around with his excuses,
Pancho does his 'the law is the law' thingy, no favors,
Ivan back at home, has repurchased Victoria's mothers cameo,
he still is not taking his mom's calls,
Lisette keeps trying,
while the mother-in-law-from-hell rants on in the background,
finally she puts the phone away and heads upstairs,
to make a baby,
Mara, who has been quiet most of the day, talks to Elisa, her mom,
she will forget Arturo, and throw herself into her work,
she leaves for the Cafe,
Santa visits Santiago at his cell,
they talk, they touch, they kiss,
they are so close together you have to look twice to see the bars between them,
at Casa Cano, Francisca has gone up to bed,
so Begona tells George, Gaspar was trying to talk today,
soon after, mild mannered George is in Gaspars room,
moving in close,
but Barbara comes in and throws a fit,
Daniela appears and gets upset,
Barbara kicks George out of the room,
hugs a blank faced Gaspar,
Daniela goes to her room, straight to her stash, gobbles some pills,
lays on the hardwood floor, in her dress and heels,
as the waters calm,
Francisa in her bedroom calls Vicente,
Santa watches and listens on her smart phone,
* the next day
Victoria walks into her room, to find Ivan there,
with a little present, he teases her with it,
it's her mother's cameo,
she kisses him,
Santa arrives at G-Cano, to see Paula
(apparently the only receptionist, secretary, paralegal for the entire firm)
do you have access to the accounts,
I need you to transfer funds so that I can hire Santiago a lawyer,
Paula's turn to do the, 'you want me to do what', look,
Humberto stops by to see Ines,
the next step in our plan, listen carefully...
later as she happily is on her way out, she tips over some magazines,
a photo falls out, my first love, and will always be,
she hugs and kisses the picture,
and as she goes on her way, we see that it is,
Willy Delgado...
(who looks/acts very much like Santiago, hmm...)
Thank you, Deb, great recap!
I just watched the last 3 episodes back to back, after refraining from reading anything about them, not to get spoiled.
When I saw Vicente in that basement my first thought went to Willy - Big Willy, Santa's husband. We already know nothing is what it seems to be in this tn, there are so many twist and turns it's hard to keep track. We've already speculated that maybe Willy is not dead.
I think the fact that we got to see that Ines has nightmares the same episode is only a red-herring.
Now that we know Willy and Ines had something, I AM SURE it is him locked up in there.
My theory -
Willy and Ines couldn't have met before Santa and Willy got married, Ines is a lot younger, so it had to have been after the whole Barbara stuff. So:
Ines was kidnapped by someone (her nightmares) and then somehow rescued.
At the same time Humber was going ahead with his plan to kill Willy Delgado. Maybe Ricardo didn't actually kill him (I don't remember, but was Willy shot, or beaten in jail?) and Vicente somehow got involved (he does know about Santa, so maybe he's been Humber's accomplice all along). He took Willy home, he and Ines got close (maybe he lost his memory).
And then one day he remembered the whole thing and that's how he ended up in the basement.
And maybe Humber thinks that, indeed, Willy is dead, and only Vicente knows the truth.
I'd really love it if Willy was alive, because that would really put Santa in a pickle when all is discovered. Right now she says she loves Santiago, but what if her husband is alive?
I couldn't care less about Santa and Santiago, they are two idiots that spent days upon days preparing their exit (like they had all the time in the world). And they knew about Humber's passport trick. From where I stand, they deserve what is coming, for morons!
Great poetic recap, Deb.
I take back my previous prediction concerning the identity of the cellar dweller. I agree with you, Adriana, that it is probably Big Willy. Who knows how Ines got involved with him. It must have been after he supposedly was killed in prison.
It was kind of the writers to make sure that we got the connection by showing Paula looking at the picture of Willy she has in her wallet and then have Ines find the same picture in her room. How Ines would get ahold of the same picture of a pre-prison Willy that Paula has is another matter.
This is something that you can add to the things that Bert doesn't know, Hombre. It's hard to imagine how an inmate could disappear from prison and have his wife believe (remember that there is a grave) that he was dead but stranger things have happened in novelas where prison are run very casually!
Ines' memories of an operating room are probably of an abortion - unless she was sedated for an entire pregnancy as happened to the same actress in Corazón Valiente (actually, a coma).
Big letdown on the things that might have happened during the wedding but not that surprising at this stage of the novela.
Wow, good one deb, tks, so early too!
If nothing else, this TN keeps you guessing. I never considered Willy Sr could be alive. I don't remember the cárcel telling Santa how he died & they are corrupt. So with that last scene of Inez', it would make sense it is Willy Sr in the cellar. If you blinked, you could have missed it. Willy Sr wasn't that faithful, he just wasn't into Barbara I guess.
Maybe S&S aren't destined to be together. More surprises on the way.
Señor sabelotodo Humberto, I'm sure knows all of this of course. I still think he might not know about Begoña. Ricardo did see her at Paula's house though, so it wont be long.
We begin with Jethro screaming at Babs in front of Kikito. Honestly Kikito is acting more mature than either of his parents. Gris asks him where he and Babs went and he says they went for out for pizza and then they came back to look at the picture of Babs in Jethro's room. This enrages Jethro some more and all of the adults need a time out. All of them head downstairs leaving Kikito alone in the room. You would think one of them, perhaps Amalia or Antonio would stay with the kid and comfort him. Downstairs Gris suggests they talk and more shouting ensues. Jethro argues Babs had no right to pick up Kikito without his permission. Gris questions Babs' newly found maternal instinct. Max wants to leave and tells Babs if she wants to stay and be humliated he's washing his hands. Max makes a sarcastic remark to Antonio who is holding a baseball bat. I need to nominate Antonio and Jethro for most annoying character. Speaking of annoying…
¡Ay Vanesa! Always butting in where you're not wanted. This time she interrupts Reinaldo and JP's discussion about the women in their lives. When she leaves JP notes that although Reinaldo may see her as "like a daughter" she does not see him as "like a father." Reinaldo asks him for help with TC but JP doesn't think TC will listen to him. ¡Ay TC!…
TC orders Manuel to sleep in the car, after taking a hot bath and putting on some deodorant. She is afraid someone from his neighborhood (I'm surprised she didn't say barrio) will break in and steal something. "Will do, señora, not to worry." I hate Manuel but this subhuman treatment at the hands of TC isn't helping things.
Kikito asks if he will see Babs again. Gris gently puts him off and says to her three adults that she needs time alone to think about things. Antonio asks if the family meeting has been rescheduled and wants a hint as to what it's about. Gris takes him to task for always putting himself first.
Esther stops by her house. She recalls the two of them making love and JP telling her that she is his "everything" and "the only one in his life." She tells her self to stop torturing herself and gets up to leave. She drops her purse and when she stoops down to pick it up she finds one of Marcela's stockings by the sofa.
Ro walks into TC's room with a tray and announces, "Time to be spoiled!" (Ro, TC is spoiled 'round the clock, 24/7) TC says in her sarcastic way that she didn't ask for anything and that the time when Ro could guess her state of mind has gone up in smoke. Furthermore, he is not to enter her room without knocking first (I noticed that too, TC!). While he's there TC pumps him for info on how the neighbors at the HOM reacted to her. He's afraid to say it but the two words he heard most from the neighbors were "loca insensible." ("An insensitive crazy woman." Yup, that sums up TC. The neighbors should speak to Manuel.)
Manuel enters his apartment muttering about the insufferable TC and Iris. He asks Celeste where Sol is and she says she's out with her friends. He warns her if Sol winds up pregnant not to come crying to him. Celeste tells him to lower his voice.
Max and Babs return to the hotel. Max tries to extract a promise from Babs that she will leave "those people alone." Babs says under her breath that "he remembers me." Max thinks she's talking about Jethro but she says, "No, my son."
Jethro gives Kikito the torn picture of the formerly happy family.
Gris prays to the Virgen Santísima for guidance. Meanwhile in the living room Rafa asks Amalia for a kiss, a real kiss. She doesn't feel like it just now. "Insensible" also applies to Rafa. Outside Antonio tells Pati she can attend the family meeting since she is practically family. He's more worried about the family meeting than what to do about Babs. He wonders if the meeting is to announce how the winnings will be split and when Pati protests such mercenary talk he tells her it would be hypocritical for him to deny that he's not concerned. Amalia tells Antonio that Gris has come to a decision about Babs and the go inside. Pati and Rafa wait outside.
Gris announces that she's going to give the 5 million to Babs who will have to sign a legal document giving up custody of Kikito as well as promising to never go near him again. Amalia trusts Gris' judgement and is on board; Jethro doesn't know what to say. However, Antonio has plenty to say. "Five million is way too much!" His tone is that of someone trying to protect his inheritance. (You know, "that means less for me!") Gris is not changing her mind. "¡He dicho!…¡Caso cerrado! (Oops…wrong show. NOTE: The only time I see "Caso Cerrado" is when I'm waiting for DYO.)
Sweet phone call between Pati and Reinaldo which I won't recap here. FF>
JP comes home and finds his wife in the living room. She shows him the stockings that she found by the sofa and starts wondering if they're his. Dumb scene….FF> Both of them are annoying.
Looks like Max is having chest pains and Babs sees this from the bathroom. The phone rings…it's Gris and she's in the lobby. Babs goes downstairs and Gris offers her the 5 million with stipulations. Babs accepts but she wants the money, like, yesterday. Gris informs her she will have her 5 million in cash as soon as she signs the agreement giving up custody. She returns to her room. Max still thinks he can earn money fighting but Babs confesses that she saw him before she went downstairs. "We need the money, now." An envelope appears under the door. It's the hotel bill. Babs asks how they are going to pay it. Max has an idea.
Blame game: it's all Esther's fault that their wonderful life has vanished. FF> Beatriz and Alba discuss the situation. More FF>
Gris is walking on the street saying to herself, "It's the right decision….it's the right decision."
Pati tells Antonio that she needs to tell her father that they have resumed their relationship before he hears it from someone else. At the restaurant Annoying Vanesa indirectly spills the beans. Too late, Pati!
Max decides to swap the motorcycle for a more inexpensive model. (Why swap? You'll get more money if you just return the blasted thing!) Susana says that she will have to check with Ivan in this case. She calls Ivan who asks if Rafa told her to call. She tells him Rafa left early to go see his girlfriend. Ivan is not to happy with this news. He goes to the shop and completes the transaction.
Jethro wonders why Babs can't just leave with Max and leave him and Kikito alone. Antonio says that once you give her money she'll be back asking us for more. "Us?" Amalia says that the money belongs to all of them and that is the reason for the family meeting. Gris comes back and announces that Babs accepted the money. Pati and Rafa can't believe what kind of woman would do that. Antonio simply says, "Five million!" We know where his head is at. Gris goes upstairs to speak to Jethro.
TC is in her room. "¿Loca insensible?" She flashbacks to both of the murders she's committed. Then: "By moving in across the street, la mujer de bigotes is making it easy for me to do what I have to do." Uh oh.
Gris tells Jethro about her meeting with Babs and how Babs accepted the proposal calmly. Jethro doesn't think it's fair that 10 percent of the winnings should go to her but Gris counters that it's well worth it to get her out of their lives. She advises him to get that woman out of his head.
Max returns with the money from the moto swap. "What? That's it?" He gives it to Babs and tells her she can do what she wants with it. He suggests dinner. She's going to save it since it's all they have and she doesn't know if Gris is trying to pull a fast one. She goes into the bathroom and remembers Kikito telling her that Jethro keeps a picture of her beside his bed. She looks into the mirror and smiles.
Esther returns to Alba's apartment and tells Beatriz, "He slept with another woman in my own house, in my own room, in my own bed." Sobs. At the house JP says he's useless (Viewerville agrees) because he can't support the woman he loves or help his sister.
TC muses at how easy it is to cover up ("taparse", to cover up, from "tapa", lid) a death. Downstairs Ro has the night off and he and Elsa trade barbs.
While drinking some of the booze that they stole from TC, Iris and Mario are bothered by some loud music. They complain to Paloma who said she gave permission. We see it's Sol and company practicing their dance routine. And then we see Manuel on his sofa looking managing as usual.
Gris reports that Jethro doesn't really approve of giving Babs the money but he is on board. Antonio, like a little puppy, asks Gris if the can have the family meeting now. Amalia is disgusted that that's all he can think about. He says he has to go to school the next day. Gris relents and says the'll have it now. She asks Rafa and Pati to wait outside.
OMG! I just realized this was a Gabe-free episode! Woo-hoo!
Her first boyfriend was Willy?? My thought is that Willy Sr. wasn't really killed. He was brought to the basement for some reason that probably doesn't make sense. Ines, being nutty, looked at him as a present and THINKS he's boyfriend material rather than prisoner. It doesn't explain her nightmares though. But why would they hide a twin for so many years? Is it nutty to question such a thing?
Lucy started out soooo annoying but is becoming one of my favorites. Loved how she snuck herself into the church. But are you sure she's not Colombian because I still can't understand a word she says.
Pancho couldn't wait until they come out of the church to arrest Santi? Rude. Lucy could do better.
Kelly
Deb, thanks for yet another wonderfully written recap. So much to cover and you made it so entertaining.
Several of us had speculated several weeks back that big Willy might still be alive, and, Adriana, your script works. We never saw Santa identify the body, only her visits to the cemetery to talk to the headstone. I would love to have him alive to add to the plot. Also, if, as Hombre speculated, Ines had an abortion, how and with whom (?Willy) she got pregnant will be an interesting aside. So many possibilities with the captive in the basement.
Ines' obsession with Wee Willy could be explained by a forced abortion of big Willy's baby.
Didn't someone say Ines' mother died in childbirth?
Vicente doesn't trust Bert on the Santi matter, telling the PI to talk only to him.
I like Ivan more and more. He plays the good son, but does exactly what his conscience tells him. he refused to be part of the wedding travesty. And so sweet of him to give Vicky's cameo back to her. But I wonder about Carlos' reaction to her having it.
Carlos and Patricio double teaming Vicky is creepy awful.
I loved Elisa telling Mara she'll stick around for a while to support her.
Gaspar needs a lot more rehab and 24 hour guards.
And Dani could end up killing some brain cells with those
Beth
"And Dani could end up killing some brain cells or herself with those drugs she's popping."

Great recap Sue. You highlighted what has become an issue for me with this story - how self-centered and insensitive most of the men in this tn are. Tony, the Caveman, Rafa, Leonardo, JP, Elio, Manuel, Gabe, the beach boys - who did I leave out? Simon and Rei are the only two males who are tolerable. Grrr.
Everyone who believes Marcela planted that stocking, raise your glass.
Ester needs to straighten her life out before adding a child to the chaos.
Barbie certainly grabbed at that $5 million re-offer. So much for her maternal instincts.
Manuel looked like he was plotting his revenge sitting on that sofa.
Beth
thanks for another wonderful recap Adriana,
ah yes, tough guy Antonio showing Max the way out, with a bat,
Pati and Rafa keep getting set aside, together,
I keep thinking he will hit on her,
but, other than business, he seems to be staying true to Amalia,
good point Beth about Ester putting her life in order before bringing a child into it, I guess this is what Alba has been trying to tell her, (and why again is Beatriz, Lobo is her last name?, in this novela) but this whole storyline keeps taking me back to "El Clon", and all of the complications, (and where are the comments from the local priest), a touchy subject this, where people have fixed ideas that came from who knows where, will anyone budge, I know that JP has gone off the rails but I still remember that it was Ester that first made a stand, as "this is how it will be", period, and closed the door on JP,
Barbie is, well just Barbie, I bet her early life with Kiki was, young and confused,
and then along came Max,
Max the champion, on a world tour, the money, the excitement, their love,
what a whirlwind,
and now he may die,
she saw him crumpled over, just before she agreed to accept the money,
is she hoping that the money will save him,
so I think we all know, not them, that the life they had, is over,
will Max's pride let them move on,
can we see him taking yoga lessons from Paloma at the pasada,
Barbie working at the laundromat,
would Barbie have his baby, create a home for them?
thanks guys for your nice comments,
hmm,
the best of a combination of theories from various people on Willy for me would read like this,
(actually I usually just go with the flow with this author but this seems to work)
Humberto is not as evil as we suspect,
he does not have Willy killed, but has Vicente get rid of him,
Ines stumbles upon him being held captive, (from Leesa at TW)
and in his desperation to escape, he leads her on,
she falls for him, and she gets pregnant,
as Vicente discovers,
drugs, an abortion, and the loss of Willy, leave Ines traumatized,
her recovery is based on this never having happened.
either way I'm happy to see that our character Ines now has some depth,
any depth will work,
having loved Willy does a lot to explain her fascination with Santiago,
and her excitement over discovering willy, alive,
so far as Willy lovers falling for Santiago go,
curious that Paula is not in that group.
Good theory deb.
I find Will Sr much more appealing than Santiago.
anon, I find Colombians easier to understand also. In fact, I thought Eric del Castillo might be Colombian, he speaks slowly & distinctly, but he is Mex.
Wonderful recap, deb! I loved your commentary, especially the paired asides re Hortensia: "this wedding is killing her (we hope)" and "as it's finally done, Horentsia is in heaven, (we wish)." I suspect, though, that her ultimate destination is more likely to be The Other Place.
I don't know what I think about all the speculation re Willy Sr. being alive and in the past having somehow gotten Ines pregnant. I find it hard to believe that Willy could tolerate Ines for more than a nanosecond. I sure can't! And if Willy Sr. returns, what happens to Santiago, who is supposedly the novela's galan? Of course, my batting average on predictions hovers around 5%, which is a powerful indicator that you and others may be right! :-)
Thanks, Sue, for the great recap. I'm finding myself enjoying TC more than I used to, not because she's become more reasonable or pleasant but simply because so many of the other characters are increasingly tiresome: Jethro, above all, but also Gabe, Antonio, Rafa, and Manuel, among others. Oh, I forgot Marcela, who ranks right up there with Jethro. And I'm afraid I have to put both JP and Ester on that list as well. Oh, and Vanessa. Geez, there's almost noone left!
oops,
I'm embarrassed,
I thanked Adriana for a wonderful Friday recap,
when I meant "Sue" who does great ones as well,
who has also been doing double duty this week by doing full recaps of DyO,
in Amy's absence Monday and Tuesday,
thank you so much Sue!
Mariano waits for Abue in the lobby and she is surprised to find him there when she comes out. Enter Ignacia and JM. Mariano thinks Abue has something to confess to Ignacia who stands open-mouthed at the way M is talking to AA. (Premios Tu Mundo needs a new category for best open-mouthed expressions….. which goes to ANA LAYEVSKA! I just love her ☺ )
Pobrecita Invis-abel approaches to try to tell JM about the robo, but they all have another “Sixth Sense” moment and don’t see or hear her. Mariano rushes off with Ignacia and Abue begs JM to take her home.
Olegario is elated that Marge has accepted to run away with him and asks if Pedro is in agreement, Marge assures him she’ll take care of Pedro. Mireya is listening (DRINK). Marge and Oleg agree that once they separate Pedro from Iggy, and all live together far away, Mireya and Pedro will reconciliar.
Marge runs in to pack her bags, Gina is arguing with her lawyer over the phone about where to invest her money.
Mariano and Ignacia arrive at Casa Villano (having apparently stopped by the apartment so Ignacia could change her shirt… we should take a drink everytime there is a hair/wardrobe continuity issue). Estela comes down, responding to Mariano’s gritos. JM and Abue join them. Mariano pressures AA into admitting to Ignacia… Estela’s tumor is a lie.
Mireya makes a coy phone call to Tomas, thanking him for taking care of her after her tumble from the chair. “Is that they only reason you called?” he teases. “How about we meet tonight?” She twirls her hair. They make a date. I’m totally confused… wouldn’t she be all ecstatic about moving away and getting another chance with Pedro? Que demonios is going on?
Ignacia never wants to see Estela again, and is feeling betrayed by Abue. She leaves with JM. Estela rants at Mariano for making her lose her daughter, and Mariano responds that it was Estela herself who lost her daughter.
The police are questioning Isabel about the robbery, and she says, despite her flashbacks of telling her mother and Angel listening, that no one else knew the details of the delivery.
Gina doesn’t want Marge to go, especially when she finds out Marge plans to take Pedro.
JM confronts Tomas at the office… how dare he deceive Ignacia that way with her mother’s “supposed” illness! This makes him think he could be capable of “the other thing” too. Tomas demands to know what he’s talking about, but JM storms out.
Isabel tries again to catch JM, and he doesn’t want to talk about it now, but she blurts it anyway… all 200 houses in the development have been robbed. But not to worry, the police are already on top of it. JM, still agitated from his encounter with Tomas, jumps to conclusions saying that if he were the police he wouldn’t have let Isabel get away so easily… ever since she started working at the company, there have been various robos and asesinatos. He leaves in a huff, Isabel is wishing she was still invisabel.
Ignacia runs to Pedro at the obra and he want to know what’s wrong. Pedro, Iggy, and Ruben head to the office to talk when Tomas walks up. Ignacia DECKS him.
Gina begs Margarita not to leave her here alone. She proposes they all go away together and start from cero, beginning by telling Pedro the truth so that they can start their lives without lies and secrets. Margarita says she would prefer to lose Gina again rather than tell Pedro the truth. She is one cold mamma-jamma.
Mireya is admiring a fancy dress (that she plans to wear to see Tomas tonight, I’m assuming) when Gina comes calling to ask her if she knows about Oleg’s and Marge’s plans to leave. Mireya is nonchalant at first, but Gina says she needs to help her get them to stay unless she wants her dad to drag her away from here.
Two guys in suits are searching the casino. Gema recognizes one of them from a distance as the guy who accosted her at the car wash (when ED saved the day, whom we know as ED’s driver). She tries to describe him to a coworker and asks if she knows him, but it doesn’t ring a bell. Then again, her description (“long hair, and white”) isn’t so helpful.
Ignacia tells Tomas she hates him and is glad she decided to divorce him. How dare he lie to her about her mother’s illness. Tomas tries to detain her, Ruben hits him, things get heated, and Tomas fires (somebody? Everybody?). In the office Iggy tells Ruben the truth, and he’s pi$$ed that Estela made him put Lupita through all that for nothing.
Gema sees carwash-accoster again and puts two and two together (stop! That’s against tn rules!!!) that this guy is ED’s driver. She realizes everything was a set-up to trap her. Good girl.
Mireya refuses to help Gina get Marge to stay. Neto’s little chihuahua lungs are panting after Oleg’s job.
Iggy tells Pedro about the fake tumor and he hugs her. Neto comes in and announces that Olegario has quit, and he’s here to take his place. Iggy is stunned.
Ruben storms into Casa V where Estela is moping and Abue is disgusted with herself. He announces that he wants nothing to do with either of them, and Lupita and he are getting married (QUE???), and they’re not invited to the wedding! Lupita is stunned, “are you sure?” He snaps at her, “I love you, don’t you love me? Then let’s get married!” He finishes with “I’ll never forgive you” to Abue and “God will never forgive you” to Estela. “You can’t marry that naca!” she says. “Tough sh*t” says Ruben, and leaves with Lupy.
Pedro hears about Oleg going away with Marge and runs out. Neto continues to push for the jefe job.
ED enters the casino and sees Gema.
Isabel is distraught at losing JM’s confidence and leaves a letter of resignation on his desk. She says goodbye lovingly to his picture.
At the development site, JM is feeling remorse at having accused Isabel, especially after the police tell him that this is a common robbery… thieves keep an eye on empty houses without security systems waiting for things to be delivered. Anyone could have done it. “I practically called her a thief,” he regrets. “She’s never given me a reason to distrust her, she’s very efficient with good references.” (…not to mention your future wife…) Officially shipping Jose Manuel-abel.
Coworker comes up behind Gema as she is watching the suits. She says “is that the guy you were talking about?” Gema grabs her and locks her in a closet (huh?). She says, “sorry, but I can’t let them find me…” She changes out of her uniform and makes a run for it. ED’s guys chase her through the parking lot, but she manages to lose them.
Lupita asks Ruben if he just mentioned marriage to bother his mom, and he says he meant it for real. He asks her if she’ll marry him and she accepts.
JM calls Gina to ask if she’d be willing to put more money into the obra for a security system due to the recent robberies. She says she will, and she’s also going to call a priest to “bless” the obra and keep away evil. Once again in this episode, I’m scratching my head. That was kind of a weird random thing to throw in…
Marge tells Oleg she intends to take everything in the house with them. “But I thought we were starting from zero?” “I’m not leaving everything I’ve worked so hard for, of course I’m taking everything. And by the way, are we moving away as novios, or as…..” Pedro bursts in. “Unpack that bag, señora. You’re not going anywhere!”
Thank you for the great recap, Sue!
As annoying as I find half the cast (2/3 would be more accurate), I still think Jethro is the worst. And he's supposed to be a good guy. A close second for me is Gabe, also a good guy. And then, let's not forget Tony, who technically, is not all bad, either.
TC, Vanesa or Marcela are not even on my radar if I compare them to these three. Actually TC entertains me too much, I can't hate her.
I want to see Pati slowly change her mind about Tony, now that she sees him in all his glory. She's so in love it might be hard for her to realize and those pretty eyes of his do have some powerful effect on even the strongest creatures(ahem), but she has to see that Tony is all about the money, the position, the fame. Would he love Patty if she didn't have a rich mom?
So Barbie changed her mind after she saw that MAx might really die in the fight. I still think Jethro, I mean Stink-que, I mean Quique would want nothing more than to get back together with her.
You know what I noticed? We've seen almost 50 episodes of this tn and so far the two so called protagonistas .... nothing. And yet, I don't mind, I'm patiently waiting for their union, while enjoying the rest of the show - some of the comedy is spot on, which is truly amazing for a tn - I credit the fact this comes from Brasil, this is their style.
Oh, that Willy guy sure is unforgettable, he has both Santa and Ines in love with a look alike.
Deb, I like your theory about Willy, it makes sense and if that means my Humber is less guilty..YEY!
Did anyone have a deja-vu when Santa was visiting Santi in jail and promising him she will get him out if there no matter what? And she kept promising that. Just like she did with Willy, when he was in jail - I really don't enjoy the fact that the HERO is just a copycat version of a dead guy, nothing too Alpha about that.
My predictions about Santa's promise: I think she strikes a pact with Humber, promising to stay away from Santi in order to get him out of jail.
Ivan was kind of fast in agreeing to put those cameras in Fran's room. I understand that he hates her or something, but he isn't wondering about Santa's motives? Not even a little bit?
And Santa, the great revenger, how many more people does she plan to get involved in her plan? Next thing you know, she'll end up confiding in Humber himself.
I knew that Paula was an idiot, but her romance with Ricardo just proves that she's also a hypocrite. She was all up in Santa's face about staying focused on their plan, but she has no problems jumping into bed with Humber's driver? And she sees that tattoo and doesn't even flinch? She is too stupid to live, I bet she ends up dead before this is over.
Thanks for the recap Amy. Yeah that thing with the priest is strange. Maybe it will be the same priest who knows Mireya can walk? I hope there is some way around Mireya's confession. Or someone else realizes she's faking.
Thanks so much Sue! Ditto to everyone else’s comments.
I do like that the writers are starting to make Barbie more complex. I think she does love Max and doesn’t want him to die, and that she has fallen in love with Kikito. But her comfort and her needs always come first. If she can have love and money, perfect. But if she has to choose one over the other…well, the choice gets more difficult. She very much liked hearing that Quique still has her picture, meaning he still loves her. And it looks like she’s going to try to use that to her advantage.
Quique is an idiot. I don’t blame Barbie for leaving him, but she was wrong to abandon her child.
Will Sol and her group now practicing their dance moves at Paloma’s posada lead to anything? If anything, it will give the guys there more eye candy to gawk at. I noticed Paloma has some pretty good belly dancing moves too!
TC’s got murder on her mind; and by the look on his face, so does Manuel. Gris is their mutual enemy. Those two are bound to team up. Yipes!
Great recap, Deb, loved it!
Just to show that there's a minority view, I happen to like Santa, I also like Santiago, and feel that they have a very passionate love. I'm hoping they survive and end up together. I also don't think Santiago is a carbon copy of Willy. Yes, they both played the sax, and both have dark hair and forgot to shave. But Willy was bubbly and friendly, Santiago is earnest and soulful. They're completely different. Okay, I may be pushing it here.
So, if that is Willy, Sr. in the basement (and I agree, it makes some kind of weird sense, this being a telenovela), I'm hoping that he in fact got Ines pregnant. So if Santa found out, and Willy, Sr., is revealed, Santa could reject him, and go with Santiago. But wait! Santiago was drugged, and may have had sex with Ines. Maybe Willy was also drugged into having sex and got Ines pregnant, and she had an abortion. And maybe Ines is NOW pregnant (didn't she faint at least once in this episode?), and she has to have an abortion AGAIN, and Vicente puts them BOTH in the basement!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great recap, Sue, thank you!
As for Barbie, I agree with Vivi's analysis.
I think JP missed an opportunity by not telling Ester exactly what has happened. That he did have sex two times, it was with Marcela, and she's been trying to seduce him. Of course, that's no excuse, but it's a lot better than saying nothing, with a stocking sitting right there. I would like to have Ester get mad at Marcela, because I sure am mad at Marcela, and SOMEONE has to put a stop to her antics!
Here are a few other characters that are not annoying: Ro, Elsa, Penny, Paloma, Amalia, Victor, Eduardo, Susana, Clara. So maybe they help balance out the annoying ones!
Invis-abel...I love it...and Jose-Manuel-abel! Thanks for the good laughs, AnotherAmy, and for once again capturing all the highlights (and lowlights). Gracias a Dios, "tumor-gate" is revealed. Feeling so sorry for Abuela, though. Okay now, the noviazgo of Oleg and Margarita...only brings to mind "OleoMargarine", a word that will only be familiar to readers of a certain age, like...
J in Oregon
Hombre, are we moving from the patio to the basement?
I believe we are all over-thinking this.Oh well, that's the fun of novelas. This one is better than most. The writers have sick minds, with good imaginations. I'm enjoying it even though I don't care for either S or S, but I do like Humberto, and I do mean the acting. The only actor I have seen before is Mara as Jessica in PEAM.
Adriana, love your comments,
you have such a nice insight into things,
that wasn't really 'my theory' per se, I was just putting together the highlights of yours and others and it was uncannily making sense, so I thought I would share,
your deja-vu comment (there you go speaking french) reminded me of an old joke where the guy says, "trust me, I'm from the government"
didn't Ivan bond with Santiago,
his uncle, as in he has finally met one relation that he can relate to,
could he be doing the spy work because of that,
I want to see George (the straight man if this is a comedy) follow through with his... (I don't always know how George sees things), desire for Paula.
haha Hombre, do I sense you are in for the long haul?
I gave Lucy your address,
Lincoln Palomeque, who plays Willy, had a great role in LRdlS, but in La Bella Ceci y El Imprudente, a comedy, he was the bad guy, not a Clint Eastwood, I agree, soulful wins,
ok, so lets look at the pieces,
Humberto is out to destroy Santa, (but is obsessed with her),
either way he needs her alive and close,
so he can watch,
poor willy,
Vicente, the G-Cano go to bad guy,
(Gaspar even asked him to 'make George pay' but didn't really ask for the details),
he knows about Santiago, but will he protect him , because of Ines,
and a past he doesn't want known,
and,
(no smirk babies, please)
Variopinta, you're right, we should all just move to the basement and see who else is there; maybe Vicente can bring us drinks once in a while.
I share your opinions about the main couple and Humber - the fact that I don't care about Santimanda (heh) makes me enjoy the twists and turns so much more. I'm not invested in them as a couple, so whatever happens from now on, I'm fine with it.
Deb, if what Ivan is trying to do is help his uncle, then he didn't choose the best way, since Santa made him promise NOT to tell Santiago. That also means that down the line S & S will finally have some realistic problems about her desire to hurt the family members that he actually loves.
