Corazon Indomable, Episode #110, Monday, October 14, 2013 “The Beginning of the End for Short-Lived Rancho El Abuelo”

Recap by LatinInMD

Simona is still sharing her headache with us, so Octavio does himself (and all of Viewerville) a favor and prepares to put her to sleep with an injection.

MC visits police chief Vargas to inquire about the investigation concerning her rustled cattle.  Sensing – correctly – that Vargas is not giving it much thought because he figures the loss is a small drop in the bucket for her (and just in case we forgot what the narrator told us only five episodes ago), MC gives Vargas and Viewerville a quick tutorial – illustrated with sepia flashbacks – on how she managed to blow her father’s entire fortune in record time.  She’s done nothing but give without getting anything in return, she points out.  Now you understand my situation, she asks Vargas?  He’s speechless – as is the rest of Viewerville, knowing how ludicrous all this still sounds.

After putting Simona to sleep, Octavio comes down to the living room to continue his endless exchanges with Miguel about how it upsets Simona to have Octavio visit MC.  Miguel insists that Octavio and Simona should take a trip far, far away.

Simona awakens from her drug-induced nap just as Ofelia enters her room.  She asks the maid who replaced her long-serving nana to prepare a bath for her, so she can make herself pretty.  (Good luck with that.)  (By the way, what happened to nana?  My guess is she had too many brain cells to continue on this show.)

So it took the length of Simona’s nap for MC to finally get an answer from Vargas.  Vargas assures her that they are doing the best they can with their investigation – which to me means they are doing nothing.  She asks if he thinks the thieves had an accomplice on her ranch.  Vargas doesn’t have the slightest doubt about it.  Then she seeks and gets his reassurance that the Realengo folks had nothing to do with the theft.  She seems relieved, as if the cause of her ruin is more concerning than the ruin itself.  Go figure.

Miguel reminds Octavio that his former bohemian life is no longer an option, and neither is his career as a pilot.  In other words, tough luck, bro, you have no choice but to deal with your wife and her jealous rages, no matter how much they bother you.  Octavio acknowledges he is sentenced to live and die on Simona’s ranch, but he is not about to become her slave.

Simona bemoans the fact that Octavio’s thoughts are not on her but “elsewhere”, and thoughts lead to actions.  (I think she gives Octavio’s one-brain cell way too much credit in the “thoughts” department.)  Ofelia advises her not to think that way, as she only succeeds in torturing herself; (oh, no, Ofelia, she also succeeds in torturing Viewerville.)  Simona suddenly changes her tune (what else is new) and says she is going to enjoy what hers to the fullest.

Miguel and Octavio continue to debate the pros and cons of Octavio and his owner, er, wife taking a trip together.  Octavio reminds big bro that they have a newborn to deal with; problem solved, says Miguel, just take a nanny with you.  Octavio notes it’s easy for Miguel to come up with solutions to things that don’t affect him.  But no way, says Octavio, we’ll do anything else before we decide to travel.

Back at the ranch, MC thought bubbles.  No, no more venganza monologues.  She just hopes that Vargas will be able to catch the cattle rustlers.  She tells herself how worried she is because she has NO IDEA how she will pull herself out of this financial mess.  Even so, she has no regrets.

Oh, gag me.  Simona comes downstairs, playfully covers Octavio’s eyes, and asks “who am I?”  “The owner of my thoughts,” he says.  “And of your heart?”  “That too.”  (FYI – I used to quote dialogue when I thought it was interesting. Now I will quote it only when it is particularly absurd, like this little exchange.)  I continue to gag as Simona acts all flirty and lovey-dovey, pretending they have the perfect little marriage while talking about planning their newborn baby’s baptism.  Once she leaves, Octavio thought bubbles:  “If only she were always like this, soft, affectionate….,” in other words, like a perfect little lapdog.  Miguel, who has been spying on them, thought bubbles that this “harmony” is not convenient for him and he must destroy it.

Meanwhile, MC (still dressed in silk PJs) is giving JackAss orders to assign Perico tasks that will not bring him into her home.  JackAss wonders if Perico was in some way disrespectful towards her or Solita.  (No, JackAss, if he were disrespectful, she would make him her right-hand man, just like she made you and your rude, thieving self.)  She’s just concerned that Solita is too fragile and could fall in love and suffer, so she prefers Perico far away from her.

We now have Simona and Ofelia standing in the living room.  Octavio comes downstairs and asks where she is going.  With you, she says, anywhere you are going.  Octavio uses Simona’s health as an excuse not to have her as his ball and chain all day long.  He claims he has a long workday planned ahead of him, and the sun and the horseback riding wouldn’t be good for her health.  Back-and-forth with these two, until Miguel comes in and puts in his two cents, asking his brother why he doesn’t want to take her.  Simona smiles with self-satisfaction.

JackAss says he doesn’t want Perico near him either.  Of course you don’t, laughs MC, because of that “cusca resbalosa” painter.  She reminds him that Perico was that woman’s “first whim” – oddly, she says it as if she couldn’t care less.  JackAss brags that now she prefers him and he doesn’t want others in the way.  MC calls him shameless; he shrugs it off, saying he has no reason to be a hypocrite – well, that explains why he is just so sincere with MC about how he is robbing her blind – NOT!!!  Besides, he is not afraid of Perico.  She warns him to be careful with him, as he never knows how a person may react to provocation.

Octavio claims he is going out to work, not for a joy ride.  Miguel keeps trying to convince him to take Simona, or to let him do the work.  Finally, Simona jumps into the mix and demands that Octavio admit he doesn’t want to take her because he is hoping to bump into la salvaje.

Remember back on Isla Dorada when SuperMari once said one should not lose their sense of class under any circumstances?  Well, we all know SuperMari is no more.  And as further proof, here we have MC walking JackAss to the front driveway of her home, still dressed in her silk PJs and slippers, and practically begging him to pressure the ranch’s tenants to pay what they owe her.

Simona has grabbed on to Octavio’s arms and is now shaking him, demanding he give her an answer, instead of leaving her speaking to herself like what she is, a madwoman.  She is not going to permit him to meet with that woman.  And he’s not going to permit her jealousy to make his life bitter.  Miguel again butts in, and Octavio again claims he is going to work.  Expressing the thoughts of much of Viewerville, Simona sardonically wonders aloud what would be of her poor ranch if Octavio did not work it.  Snort.  I don’t like Simona, but I must score one for her.

Poor, clueless MC easily gives in to the excuses JackAss spouts for not being able to collect any money from the tenants.  So now she goes back to merely asking that he figure out how to deal with Perico, just in case the conversation they had in her office minutes ago didn’t quite register in his head, or ours.  JackAss leaves and mere seconds after MC re-enters her home we get a glimpse of a sedan coming slowly up the long driveway.

Octavio warns Simona that he will not stand for “yokes” even if it means he will starve to death.  And I will not put up with infidelities, she says.  He shrugs his shoulders and claims he has “consecrated himself” to her.  She laughs, and Viewerville laughs along with her.  “Well, if you don’t like the way I am, you know how to get rid of me,” he says.  Her eyes bulge as she contains her rage.  Miguel’s eyes, on the other hand, are gleaming with joy that the “harmony’ between these two is over, and he takes this opportunity to once again sing his “take a trip” tune.  A very bitter Simona says her husband would never agree to it.

And after this whole argument at Rancho La Simona, we find that the sedan made it safely to the end of the driveway at Rancho El Abuelo.  Phew.  That must have been a long drive.  This dude(played by Sergio Goyri), who apparently just got out of the car, looks downright exhausted, as does the seemingly dead caterpillar stuck to his upper lip.  (Oh, wait, is that a mustache?  My bad.)  He is having a conversation with Juanita, who is looking quite cozy dressed in her standard issue white shorts and slinky top.  (Hey, I’ll take that look over MC’s hi-low skirts any day.)

MC is back in her bedroom, still in PJs and struggling to stretch her neck – could be she has some strained muscles, or maybe she is just trying to get her brain working again.  Or could it be SuperMari is trapped somewhere in there and is desperately struggling to get out and get rid of this clueless impostor?  Who knows.  In any case, Juanita comes in and informs her that there are some men at the door who want to see the owner of Rancho Narvaez.

Octavio insists he doesn’t want to escape from anyone.  Of course not, says his crazy wife, it’s not about you escaping; it’s about separating you from your obsession.  I’m not traveling, period, he says.  Oh, and by the way, just to prove what we already know, that he doesn’t really give a damn about her health, he says that if Simona wants to go out by the fields, then she can go BY HERSELF, or accompanied by Miguel.  And just to prove he didn’t really intend to work either, he tells them he’ll stick around waiting for them to return.  Simona wonders aloud if he promised la salvaje that he would not go out with his wife.  Octavio finally loses his cool and warns her that he is losing his patience.

Maricruz wonders if the visitors are police officers; Juanita has no clue, she just knows they are “presentable”.  This reminds MC that she is still dressed in PJs, so she asks her to let them in and ask them to wait a few minutes for her.

Meanwhile, MC’s accountant is busy crunching numbers in her office and thought bubbling that the numbers don’t lie.  Each day she has less and less money.  If only I could find a solution, he tells himself.

Juanita leads the new visitors into the living room and asks them to wait there.

Back to the two fighting spouses.  He warns her he is not about to permit her to handle him like a puppet.  She screeches that she would be SO different if only that woman weren’t around – (somehow I doubt that; this psycho can be set off with the flip of a switch.)  “Then just pretend she is far away and trust in me.”  Tall order for her, since that would require her to have as few brain cells as he does.  So, no can do, she screams.  “Then you and I are getting a divorce,” he declares.

The accountant apparently gave up on trying to come up with a solution to MC’s money troubles, so instead he comes to the living room and personally greets the two men waiting there for MC.  After he leaves, the man with the dead caterpillar, er, mustache, tells the other dude that he doesn’t like being the bearer of bad news.  Poor MC, when it rains it pours for her.  How much more can she and Viewerville bear?  We’ll soon find out.  In yet another hi-low get up, but looking a little less disheveled, MC comes down and introduces herself as the owner of Rancho Narvaez.  (Oh, great, even she forgot she renamed it Rancho El Abuelo.  Poor Ramiro, though he’s probably glad he is no longer associated with this bunch of mentally-challenged characters.)

Simona is now in full-psycho mode, stunned that Octavio would even think of divorcing HER.  Miguel tries to assure her Octavio is just saying that because he is angry.  “He wants to divorce ME!!!!” she screams.  Because you are forcing me, says Octavio calmly, then simply walks out the door and leaves her fuming.

Great maladies require great remedies, thought bubbles MC’s accountant back in her office.  There is clear determination in his eyes, and he figures that he won’t lose anything by trying “IT”.  He and the monkey writers also figure we’ll know what “IT” is, because they don’t give us any clue.  (Will this “IT” lead anywhere?  Or will “IT” be just another false plot device that falls by the wayside?  Place your bets, folks.)

Now JackAss and Perico are arguing because JA has ordered Perico to go pick up manure from one place and take it to another place.  Perico tells him he doesn’t like having to pick up “porqueria” (“filth”), unless of course it wears tight jeans and blouses and goes by the name of “Natrasha”.  That is not for me, he says, I’m a good mason and I don’t like stinking like manure.  JackAss pushes him and tells him in that case he can go the hell away because he is no longer wanted at the big house.

Back to Simona and Miguel.  As she frantically paces back and forth, he tries to get her to calm down and to stop behaving like a little girl.  And just like MC, Simona declares that she would rather die than be without Octavio, because not even her son could compensate for the loss if she didn’t have her husband.  “My world begins and ends with Octavio.”  (This monkey writer is either a self-absorbed man or a very insane woman; no woman in her right mind would EVER choose her husband over her own flesh and blood.  EVER.)

Caterpillar-cum-mustache man and his sidekick show their sexist attitudes in record time.  Before they have bothered to introduce themselves, they have already questioned how such a young woman could be the owner of Rancho Narvaez.  Then they ask if she is alone, without a husband.  Rather than answer their stupid questions, she asks them to introduce themselves and state the reason for their visit.

Octavio is riding his horse right over Simona’s backyard.  Seriously, these are not open farm fields he is riding on.  Miguel comes out and lectures him about his attitude towards Simona.  Well, don’t expect me to allow a woman to dominate me that way, says our anti-hero.  Miguel warns him that if he is not careful he will be replaced in Simona’s heart by, get this, the child she practically disowned a couple of scenes ago.  This only reinforces that, yet again, we are witnessing another useless, go-nowhere scene.  Moving on.

JackAss and Perico continue their argument.  Perico threatens to speak directly with MC, who after all has more power as the owner of the ranch.  “The owner, well she won’t be for long,” JackAss assures him.  “Either way you’ll have to leave some day.”  Perico leaves and JackAss tells himself it’s time for him to start figuring out how he can continue his thieving ways at Rancho La Simona.

Sidekick introduces mustache man as Ingeniero Alvaro Sifuentes, a representative from the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons.  Sidekick is named Roman Valdez and represents a mining company.  She calmly tells them that she already knows what they are going to say, that her ranch is encompassed within the vast zone containing gold deposits.

THIS?!  This is the big “IT”?!  So the big “IT” consisted of MC’s accountant going over to Rancho La Simona to speak with Octavio about MC’s precarious financial situation.  Ok, then, let’s see where this leads us.

Alvaro Sifuentes confirms MC’s suspicions.  Her ranch is within the gold zone, and it is included within the very first notification issued by the government.  Indeed, she will have to leave the ranch.  NOW she seems concerned.  Why, MC, why?  It’s been nothing but ranch hell, ranch money-pit!!!  Let them take it, for god’s sake, but quickly, before YOU lose everything, even those hideous hi-low skirts) and we lose our marbles witnessing this ridiculous storyline.

After commercial break, we return to a defiant MC, who asserts that she will not leave that place, even if she doesn’t have any husband to back her up.  Sidekick Valdez assures her she will be paid for her lands, but she knows that at most she will get ten percent of what she paid for them.  (Take it, MC, take it.  Walk away from the money-pit.  Argh.)  She goes into a woe-is-me speech about the financial mess she put herself into by buying that useless ranch, giving away big chunks of her land, and building homes for homeless people.  Wanting to play the hero, Alvaro Sifuentes declares they must file an official document detailing all the expenses she incurred, so they can at least reimburse her for part of what she spent on those homes.  Dejected, she asks how much time she has left.

MC has been the victim of her own kindness, says the accountant to Octavio, and she WILL perish without hope.  (Well, then, if you are so sure she is going to perish, why go divulge her personal information to her ex-husband, you dumbass?)  Octavio wonders how they can make MC understand that JackAss is responsible for her financial ruin.  Let’s put our heads together to figure it out, he says.  (In other words, Mr. accountant, you are on your own, because one extra brain cell won’t help much in coming up with a solution.)

Simona’s overseer pays JackAss a visit in his cozy new home.  JackAss tells him he better not be there to complain about the stolen cattle.  (Me thinks JackAss owed him his cut but decided to pocket all the money himself.) No, says the overseer, we’ll discuss that later.  I’m here to tell you that right now there are two important people from Mexico City paying a visit to the señora of Rancho Narvaez to notify her that she has to “fly away” – they are demanding those lands to exploit the gold under them.  You understand now?  Our little moneymaking deal is over, finito, kaput.

Alvaro Sifuentes tries to reassure MC that she can still remain at the ranch for more than a year, but Valdez tells her it’s more likely to be less than a year.  MC now declares that she will fight tooth and nail for her lands.  Trying to play the hero, Alvaro Sifuentes encourages her to fight and promises to be at her side all the way.  “I will help you, señora.”

Another sexist conversation, with MC’s accountant assuring Octavio that as the father of her child, Octavio has the right to intervene in MC’s life, and she will accept it.  Octavio agrees he has a right to intervene.  His solution?  Let’s find a way to get JA to confess the truth.  Oh, by the way, says the accountant, I don’t know if this is important, but I just left at the ranch two men who were there looking for the señora.  He is sure that they brought more trouble for MC.

MC is now close to tears, telling Santa that all she did was in vain.  Poor me, after all I’ve suffered in this life.  I lost everything trying to help the poor homeless Realengo folks, and now I will end up out on the street, right along with them, because they too will be thrown out of there.  After declaring she would fight tooth and nail, now she admits to Santa that she knows she will not accomplish anything.  (There it is.  SuperMari is dead and buried; not a trace of her remains.)  Santa tells her to trust in God, but MC knows God has already abandoned her or, better yet, he was never with her.  At least she admits this is all her fault, because she should have never bought that cursed ranch.  The tears now roll freely down her face.

The rats are the first to jump off a burning ship, so JackAss now wants Esther to go pay Simona a visit.  He breaks the news to her that everyone will have to leave Rancho Narvaez.  And in case any viewers still thought Esther could redeem herself, she shatters their hopes when she jubilantly thanks god upon hearing that MC herself will have to leave the ranch, and financially ruined to boot.  In her view, her cousin Lucia has finally been avenged.

Later, Esther pays a visit to Simona.  They both celebrate MC’s defeat.  Esther admits she should be grateful to MC for her help, but no, not when her cousin Lucia suffered SO MUCH because of her.  (Was she watching a different novela?)  Even Simona remembers differently; she knows like all of Viewerville who was the villain in this “bodrio” (piece of rubbish); but she admits she never took MC’s side because she was always jealous of her, and she is now very happy that MC will have to leave there and disappear.

MC sits with her curly-top Lupita and bemoans the fact that thanks to her stupid pride and desire for vengeance she herself left her own child in ruin.  (That pretty much sums it up, MC.)  As Juanita walks in, MC asks herself what will be of them now.  Juanita assures her she has never feared anything.  (No, Juanita, that was your former employer SuperMari, alas, she is dead and buried.)

Simona bids Esther farewell and then orders Ofelia to set the dinner table using the best china.  And while she is at it, she should also bring out the best wine, because today is the day they will be making a very special toast in that house, to celebrate the big news Esther brought her.  “La salvaje must leave rancho Narvaez…..Today we are celebrating la salvaje’s downfall.”

Wise beyond her years, Juanita warns MC that it’s best to stay quiet about what is going on, because if the tenants find out they will lay waste to everything before anyone realizes it.  More crying by MC who, after disowning god, is now saying “my god, I didn’t deserve to have this happen to me.  I didn’t deserve it.”

At the height of obliviousness, as he appears to have already forgotten the dire news he got from MC’s accountant, Octavio takes the bottle of wine from Simona’s hands and gleefully pops the cork, while Miguel encourages him to make it pop loudly so it will bring them good luck.  “Luck has already arrived for us, Miguel,” says Simona with a wide grin on her face.  Miguel pours the wine, then Simona asks the two Narvaez idiots to raise their glasses, raises her own and declares they are about to toast to “success”, to the richness of that region that has turned into an important source of mining.  So long joyful, clueless Octavio; hello angry, Realengo-rebellion leader.  He is beside himself that Simona would celebrate something that has brought pain for so many people.
“But we are sharing another great joy, my love….The news I have for you both is this, listen well.  Rancho Narvaez has been declared a mining zone and la salvaje must already be packing her bags to disappear from here.”  Octavio jumps to his feet and demands to know what she is talking about.

Vargas now informs Morales that they will also have to push out all the people on the Narvaez ranch.

Now MC is crying her eyes out to JackAss, who is trying to convince her that the Narvaez brothers must have already known there was gold there when they sold their ranch to her.  She wonders what will happen to her and her little girl now.  (No sign that Solita or no-name nephew even factor into the picture here.) JackAss offers to leave with her.

Octavio again demands to know what Simona is talking about.  She can’t believe they hadn’t heard it already, but she sure is quite happy about it.  Well, Octavio is not.  In fact, he is so furious that he launches his glass of wine clear across the room to the far back wall and heads for the door.  “Where are you going,” asks Simona.  “To see Maricruz.”  “Don’t do it, Octavio.”  “I’m going to see my daughter’s mother because she needs me!!!”

Adriana, thanks for not only a masterfully done recap, but putting into words what I think many of us were thinking as we watched this episode. Oh my.

Yeah, our Sergio has arrived, moustache and all. Boo, he's just a lame character who of course has instantly fallen for the heroine. Been there done that.

There was not one single adult I could feel bad for last night except for Solita, who MC seems to think she can dictate her life and leave her without love and a family just because she's been a loser at love. Made me furious...

But my heart goes out to all those kiddies. Does Simona even know or care where her newborn is at. Miguelito must be nothing but a thought bubble to Miguel and Curly Top gets only her requisite 15 minutes a day and it's always having to listen to her mumsy go on and on about her "woo is me" life.

Love the look on Miguel's face when he realized that he may have to work for a living....err....that the ranch is no more for him to salivate over.

Now that Simona seems to be going BSC on us, maybe this is her down-slide to her brain-bursting doom. Won't come soon enough for me.

Daisynjay

Thanks, Latina, for the great entertaining recap. It was a welcome accompaniment for my breakfast this am. I like that the monkey writers are becoming almost a character of their own in the recap and yes that moustache did look like a dead caterpillar. I have long wondered about the people responsible for physically creating these characters: makeup artists, wardrobe people, etc. Some of the looks are so strange that they detract from the plot. Sort of like watching a train crash . . .

Maybe Miguel himself should go on a vacation with JA. It would be great to get rid of both of them. Miguel is turning into a real "buttinski". Guess he won't be getting his ranch back after all. So sad, too bad. Funny how Simona knew what she was getting into with Octavio but now has turned into the crazy shrew. With those intense headaches and the info in the promos, she might be gone before we know it. I sure hope so.

I agree that Maricruz should take whatever money she can get and go go go. She is still so immature and has acted like the proverbial "kid in a candy store" doing whatever she felt like because she could. Like a kid she focused on the here and now with little thought of the future until her financial ruin finally hit her in the face.
Unfortunately she still has more lessons to learn before she can end up with Octavio. I wonder how many suitcases it will take for her clothes when she has to move out.

Jarifa

Daisynjay, "brain-bursting doom" is a good one!

Jarifa

My apologies, Latina. I didn't notice you had done this recap. Again, brilliant!!

Daisynjay

Thanks Latina, well done.

All I can say right now is Oy vey. I'm otherwise speechless.

No worries, Daisynjay. Thanks for your kind comments.

Jarifa, re your question about MC's wardrobe: "I wonder how many suitcases it will take for her clothes when she has to move out." That may be one of the few open issues the monkey writers bother addressing. Stay tuned (at your own peril, of course, given how mind-numbing this is getting.)

By the way, do you recall when someone said this was tripe and I pointed out tripe is quite delicious when cooked properly (ie, menudo)? Sadly, this tripe was not cooked - it was left out to rot by the monkey writers, then they tried to spice it up with all sorts of "condiments" (new characters) to cover up the bad taste, which only made the rot that much more obvious.

Wow, Latina, what a great recap. You certainly voiced what so many of us are thinking... and with such wry humor. Well done.

Simona has been such a pill that I hadn't even noticed that her trusted nana is gone. Who can blame her?

Interesting that Maricruz warned José Antonio to be careful of Perico. Does he seem particularly threatening? Difficult to consider someone named Parakeet as threatening. I especially appreciated this line about him:

"No, JackAss, if he were disrespectful, she would make him her right-hand man, just like she made you and your rude, thieving self."

I suspect this line may stimulate some conversation here:

"There it is. SuperMari is dead and buried; not a trace of her remains."

Heh heh...

Wonderful recap of another episode of what I now like to call "Misery For All".

If the govt/mining co., juarever, is going to pay MC for all she spent building the houses, can she recoup most of the money JA stole with all of those invoices? That would go some way to rebuilding her life. She should be focused on sucking every cent out of the estate now.

I really hope Miguel and JA fall into a lava pit soon.

LatinaInMD:

Marvelous recap! I like all your asides also : )

There was just a glimpse of the old MariAle for just a second when she talked to the two mining guys. I wonder how Alvaro will attempt to help her?

Poor Perico. I hope he talks to MC before he goes.

I still vote for the cattle stampede to take out JA and Miguel.

I still think there is something wrong with Simona's head, her mood swings just keep coming and she is still needing shots to relieve the pain. Hairline fracture they didn't catch? She is like night and day with her mood swings.

I'm kind of glad that the Accountant finally went to Tav and told him about thieving JA. No one else has been able to talk sense to MariCruz, and I know Tav only has one brain cell, but maybe he can figure out some way to tell MariCruz to listen up, not that she listens to him either ; )

That ranch is cursed. So many bad things have happened there. Too bad MC didn't have the Padre do a cleansing before she moved in, jus' sayin'.

I really thought Ester would change, but nopis. Isn't it funny how Simona had to remind Ester about Lucia's bad self.

If Simona and Tav were to take a long trip, and Miguel were left in charge, there wouldn't be a ranch left when they got back.

So JA and Simona's capataz have been in cahoots all this time? That capataz reminds me of Snidely Whiplash!

There's a couple of things I don't understand.

What's the point of Natrasha? What is she adding to this story?
How can the government only pay 10% of the land value? Why bother owning land when you don't actually own it and it can be taken away from you?

I know that asking this question is a lesson in futility, but why is Miguel so anxious for Simona and Oblivio to take a trip??? Watching the scenes of these three losers talking nonsense is frustrating.

As for Sergio, he appears to be playing a good guy....another hombre who has fallen under the spell of Mari's powerful mojo. Run, Sergio, run away quickly before you are caught up in the quicksand of CI.

I think that I hate JackAss more than Oblivio, but it's close. Most of these folks are too stupid to live. I know that The Big O will end up with Mari-Every-Guy-Wants-Me, but I am so looking forward to the great, big anvil that I am hoping drops on JackAss. I don't care if it takes out Ester, too. Mari came to you when you were alone and giving birth, you ungrateful imbecile.Does she really believe that Prima Lucrazia was the victim of Mari and not the other way around ??? Stupid people. Now that her hubby has stolen all that money from Mari iand she is living in. Nice house, I notice that Ester has started using makeup again and acting like she is better than Mari? Did we ever really feel sorry for this person ?

I got a kick out of JackAss trying to give Perico the manuremoving job. HEY, if anyone is qualified for dealing with manure..it's that old sh**kicker jackAss. My friend Ralph is still farming the farm he grew up on. When we were teens, he used to tell me how much he enjoyed manuring out the barn...Yes, Ralph is another sh**kicker just like Jackass. Hey, what a great way for JackAss to go...a nasty manure spreader accident!!! Now that would be poetic justice !!!

I really, really hate these people.

Tell us how you really feel susanlynn! I got a kick out of your comment, haha, but my sentiments exactly.

I'm glad I'm able to stop feeling bad for Esther, I didn't like it when she was playing a sympathetic character.

I hope they don't try to pair up Sergio and MC. How old is he now?

Thks for the wonderful recap latinlnMD!

jlk

@jlk - Sergio Goyri is the same age as Alejandro Tommasi (good 'ol governor of Isla Dorada). I believe they are both 54 years old...that's a 28 year age difference between them and Ana Brenda.

Sergio is 54. ABC is 26, almost 27. But he's awesome. If they would write his character as a good, strong, intelligent man who helps her turn the ranch around and gets rid of JackAss and DumbAss, age ain't nothing but a thang! I can just see him in his beautiful hat, powerfully riding a huge horse while rounding up the stolen cattle, directly over a deer-in-the-headlights-looking JackAss and Miguel ... sigh ...
Too bad that won't happen, though.

Anonymous...I am with you. I would like to see Sergio round up those stolen cattle and drive them directly over JackAss,, DumbAss , Lazyass (Miguell), and most of the other characters in this novela. This is not Sergio's first rodeo, and I would like to see him playing the good guy for change. Besides, it would be nice to see a seasoned, smart dude beat out the young, pretty boy for a new twist.

........but there would still have to be lots and lots of manure involved in the demise of these miserable hombres....lots and lots of manure.

Interesting that Simona was eager and willing to go horseback riding so soon after a C-section. Yikes!

Carlos

and PEAM-36 I am not against any of them. I have been told that Mentir Para Vivir is very good. I would like to watch it because of Dulce Maria even though she has a small part, but 11:00 every night??
MPV did not win the weekend posts
although it should have because new shows usually attract a lot of interest. CI lost several people along the way and it still beats them all.

Susanlynn---You told me not to wish time away. I probably shouldn't but there is such a long wait from the end of Friday's episode until the start of Monday night's episode.

Last night's episode was very sad though. Mari needs a miracle to save Rancho Abuelo. Please Maricruz
FIGHT!!!! Even if she gets to the bottom of JA's wrong doing, can a rancher fight a big mining company
and win?

Supermari is dead and buried? Don't count on it, the Phoenix will
rise again.

Ok, let me get this right. If you're a small criminal---100 cows,
that's ok, we just go after the big guys. Is that the way it is in Mexico? Sounds like lucrative business for the small time crooks.

Happiness and champagne all around
Octavio threw his glass against the wall. I was hoping that he would dump the bottle on both $imona and Miguel instead of throwing his glass.

Yes, I guess that Ester is still a rat. She didn't change at all.

Oh!!! One last thing, $imona didn't
spend her "REQUIRED" 15 minutes with Miguelito last night.
the gringo

Gringo, you shouldn't take stalk in the comment count of the different TNs to mean anything. The 7:00pm time slot will always get many more viewers since the time is easier to manage than the 10:00pm time slot. The fact that MPV has as many as it does for a 10:00pm time slot says a lot for that show, but I've been on many a comment page where a silly or not so silly discussion happens and the comments have gone over 200. Many of the same viewers are commenting, not 200 separate commenters. And the same goes for every TN. Sometimes we're just chatty and the number of comments go up. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how good a show is.

gringo, I was beginning to worry about you... glad to see that you're OK.

100 cows? Even in Texas that wouldn't be considered small time.

Hmmm..sorry Latina, left a comment earlier but it has disappeared. Wow. The internet is still a mystery to me.

Thanks for a sparkling recap of another annoying episode. Simona is insufferable. I get a "jaqueca" just listening to her. Ditto for Miguel. And your question about the whereabouts of Nana is well put. Hard to believe Ofelia is caring for the baby, cooking and serving the meals and cleaning the house. Although, come to think of it, that's what we moms do, or did, every day, no? So I guess stalwart Ofelia can handle it. Piece of cake.

Glad to see Sergio but miss his menacing stance. Staring googly-eyed at Maricruz doesn't quite pack the same punch.

Thanks Latina. Hang in there!

JackAss,, DumbAss , Lazyass
LMAO

Susanlynn, you're killing me with these names, I have tears rolling down my cheeks!

Sergio Goiry is a very good actor and he has his charm, but come on! Couldn't they have picked someone a little younger for the part?
This reminds me of Dos Hogares where Anahi was supposed to choose between him and Carlos Ponce (!!!) - my telenovio numero 3.

This has become torturous to watch...

Tks latinalnMD for the info.

I don't think I've seem him in a tn before, but after these comments I'm interested to see him in this novela.

Adriana, it reminded of dos hogares too. Never saw it but use to watch the intro after watching whatever tn that came on before it.

Sergio Goiry is older then Cesar Evora. You know what I mean :))) And as I once said, in marimar it was Colunga who played that character. Young Colunga. I like Goiry, but it's not his role, sorry.
And it's obvious, that Simona don't care about the baby. Yes, the baby is important to her but only like a fact. When MC didn't work, she spend her time with Lupita. Simona spend all her time talking to Ofelia, Miguel. Or she is sitting and waiting for Octavio. The baby? May be next time. And Lupita has her nana Juanita. I wonder, who take care of little baby and Miguelito.
And this is a present for those who like Octavio in black http://i60.fastpic.ru/big/2013/1004/e4/5328541cd42d2b1cdc26c383cd462be4.jpg

Thanks, Latina, for a most amusing recap of a grim episode.

I think Nana is taking care of the babies and resting when she can. She's taking care of the headache that Simona is giving her.

Hoping to enjoy Sergio Goyri as a hopeless romantic.

Thanks latina.

This is my take on the babies and mothers of this TN. I have already mentioned this days ago.

When the dialogue for the characters are important and lengthy, I don't think the director would want to include babies because they get frightened by the exchange of loud conversations and so they cry and disrupt the flow of the scene.

And also if the scene requires the mom to scream, they get traumatized, i.e. Lucia and MIgi when she saw Nazario outside her bedroom window. Also like this morning, I was watching Entre el Amor, the same thing happened, the boy was clearly afraid of the horse.

Why would anyone expose these children to these scenes just to show motherly love and care.
Remember when Lucia came with Migi to visit Miguel in La Isla, they can hardly continue their conversation because Migi was really crying and fussing.

and so I understand this is not a story of babies and mothers. On the other hand, I got so upset with Corona de Lagrimas because of too much mother love for her adult "babies". So much so for this. Pardon me for ranting.

There goes my hope for a MC/Esther bonding. She is still the mean cousin after all.

I sure welcome Goryi and his immediate sympathy for MC. I was feeling so much injustice being done to MC because almost all the characters were rejoicing (and gloating)for her downfall.

I am beginning to call MC, Pauline, as in "The Perils of Pauline".Oh, when will these miseries end!!!
