PEAM #155 - 10/14/2013 - The Magic Time Machine Takes Us Back or Is It Forward to Hospital and Court

Two pictures from the France photo workshop: first an Arabian mix, Lucy coming out of the Atlantic surf, and the second a PRE (pura raza española) named Rubén.  Rubén has been juried into the New Mexico photographers show to be hung in December.

Bebe Garcia appears a miracle of love as her Papa calls her.  Maricela breaks up with Ricardo who has a fatal case of tickles and cries to the whole office who weren't too busy anyway so they discuss.  Julio says let's treat him like an addict, he needs an intervention.  Veronica is very pregnant and none of the madonna serenity has perforated her cranky snarling face. Jesús gets to announce in tongue tied bursts of joy, the arrival of another princess to Sebastian, Panfilo and Chatita.

We have the whining, crying track coming out of Maricela's pie hole when Pato gets the call from Jesús so she can torment everyone with gyrations and screams, yeah baby, yeah baby in rather faultless English. Veronica snarls something I missed.

Jesús brings a photo wrapped and framed in baby goo goo style of Alma and the baby in their first embrace. Jesús suggests they name the baby Louisa which confuses Chatita while they joke her into remembering that it is her name. Memory loss is so cute sometimes.  Jesús and Chatita profess love and joy that the new Louisa is going to have a grandmother.  Jesús then presents her with a gold saints medallion, didn't catch the saint…

Fernando and Rogelio discuss becoming fathers. Fernando is about to trade robo-fatherhood for the real thing since Xochi is apparently now willing to entertain having a baby, now he is a bit scared. Rogelio thinks having a baby would be a fine thing if it weren't for BadMom Veronica carrying his spawn.

Patricia seems to have had a relapse into her light fingered days in the girlies bathroom while Maricela cries - OMG are those Jimi Chu's in front of the ceramic throne? Anyway, where was I, oh yes,  Pato can't resist leaning into Mari's shoulder wrenching size purse and helping herself to a cell phone and wallet, etc. This is going to go far, since Maricela softly asks if Pato is still there as the door slams on her felonious butt leaving Maricela to whine alone. Rogelio has more than one problem evidently, let's see how this develops.

Jesús asks Domatilia to fetch Valentina who is so excited along with the made while the wicked witch descends the staircase.  She wants to engage but Jesús assures her he has no desire to argue with her in front of the child.  Another princess, smirks Veronica.  Domitilia says that Veronica is going to die of her bitterness.

Maricela emerges from the chamber and is searching her purse when Pato comes back holding the contraband and offering it back.  Maricela and Pato have both grown, they pledge to support each other and hug.

Marcia, I mean Marta calls a happy Alma learning that Alma has a new baby girl named Louisa. Then she slips into a grinning, screaming, voice hearing maniac and we scream along with her: por que, por que.  Beats me why we have to go through this with her.

Marta, I mean Marcia begs the doctor to realize that she is really Marcia and that pesky Marta has tricked them all. He offers tea (drugs) and sympathy.

Happy times wax at the hospital as Valentina has come into Alma's hospital room when the baby Louisa is brought in so Patricia, Jesús, Alma and Valentina can coo in raptures.  Jesús says now he has his happy family unit with Alma and TWO daughters. All is complete and perfect.  Doomsday words if ever ones were uttered but this exact moment is sweet so enjoy it while you can.

Now we have the grandparents and the baby has a full blown laugh track of her own.  Sebastian gets to hold her then Chatita snatches her turn singing a lullaby when the entire Avon office shows up less Rogelio.  But he has a fight to have with Veronica who is painfully pregnant at this point but still able to spew her hatred for Rogelio and Alma and everyone else she can think of.  He is a bit worried about getting the baby afterwards.  Veronica threatens him again saying her famous, you have no idea what I am capable of.

Back to the intervention at the Cardena's residence I think.  Ricardo with 40's oiled hair slides in surrounded by the entire office even Fernando and Xochi who try to get him to consider what he is loosing by his nouveau riche inanities. With a swagger, he assures everyone that he doesn't need Maricela's love when his friends try to press reality on him, he tells them he doesn't need their help and in fact he doesn't even need their friendship.

Ohhh, play that creepy music, Marta greets Jimena who is really Louisa in the bassinet in the nursery.  She gets a call from her, er I mean Marcia's nurse wondering if she is still in Africa.  She should come back and see her sister who is not doing well.

And the part we all dread, Veronica is yelling with jealous rage at Valentina about her excitement about her new sister.  She yells she is fed up with being pregnant and fed up with the new baby and fed up with Valentina among other things she is fed up with the world it seems. She wishes Valentina would go off at live with that Alma.

Valentina can't believe it but Veronica slaps her to make the point. (Good thing the scene is truncated with no real slap, just the edge of one, but YUCK) Domitilia rushes in and when Valentina runs off to cry in her room, Veronica berates Domi calling her a mere maid who can't tell her how to treat her own child.  Domi pledges to return the slap from Veronica the she stops the next time she sees Vero hit Valentina whether she is pregnant or not.

Valentina tries to call Jesús on her cell phone but Veronica foils this plan grabbing the phone, stomping it with her 8 inch heels (great footwear for a seriously pregnant woman) then pushes a protesting Domi away while she locks Valentina in her room.  But Domi calls Jesús to tell him that Veronica hit Valentina and locked her in her room.

Ricardo throws a tantrum in front of Cardenas, throws papers all over the office to announce he is quitting  then is seen moments later carrying his box of personal stuff shouting that they are all mediocres and he alone is triumphant.

Jesús the super hero confronts Veronica then breaks down Valentina's door to grab his daughter. Veronica assures him she will have him arrested but he tell her she will never have a chance to hurt Valentina again.  It takes Rogelio to come in and restrain the screaming preggers harpy. Domi comes in and tells everything that Veronica did to hurt Valentina. While Jesús rescues his girl.

A happy moment brings the baby and all the happy family home to open the Louisa room which was decorated for the girl that Jesús and Valentina knew they were getting.

Next scene starts in court with Jesús pleading for permanent and sole custody of Valentina.  Veronica is defiant and unrepentant, if a bit off balance but Rogelio shows up to testify that he knows she not only hit Valentina but locked her in her room too.  This isn't over by half, so tune in tomorrow for the conclusion of the evidence and the judge's decision.

Thanks so very much for this marvelous recap, and thanks for taking one for the team with this the horrific scenes involving poor Valentina.

There is no excuse for Moronica to be hitting Valentina, evah! Thank goodness for Domi. I am so happy she called Chucho and told him all and he came to rescue her. I hope Moronica gets the biggest anvil there is, but only after that poor bebe is born. That bebe and Valentina do not deserve to be raised by that harpy! Enuf said!

How cute is little Luisa. It continues to amaze me that these little babies are so calm being handled by these actors. Chucho actually had good balance with Luisa and Valentina in his arms.

Rog manned up! Yay! I never thought he would actually testify for Chucho but he did! Thank goodness.

Ruh, Roh, Pato is up to her same tricks. I hope she gets help. I am glad Mari isn't go to press charges, but Pato really needs help.

Hey, why can't Not Rico Suave meet Marta, hmmmmm....great couple, si.

Poor Marcia. I hope that Doc takes her seriously and really thinks about it. Maybe he will figure out that Marcia is really there and Marta is out of there. I am hoping : )

Oh, and the medallion that Chucho gave Chatita was the Virgincita. It was Mother's Day for this epi. It must have been aired on Mother's Day in Mexico as Pablo mentioned the other day.

Love the horses Cheryl and just knew it would be shown. You are a great photographer and I always love the amazing pictures that you take. What a wonderful eye you have!

Thanks Madelaine. I always appreciate your great spirit even in the bleakest of episodes. I am so happy for Jesus . I remember that Fernando Colungas always, always has great raporte with children in whatever telenovelas. I hope he ends up with all the children in this ridiculous story. No one else deserves them. Nor do they deserve Veronica, especially but neither Marta/Marcia. however I think Fernando and Rogelio are in training to be terrific loving fathers.

Cheryl, congratulations on your place in the New Mexico photographers show. Thanks for sharing the photos and the great recap! I was thinking the same thing about a pregnant woman actually wearing those shoes when Veronica was stomping on the cell phone.

I could not stand Veronica telling Valentina that she was #2 now and that she would lose her importance to her Papa Jesus. That was just as cruel if not more so than the slap and locking her in her room.
Looks like with Rogelio's help she will be losing custody. What a loser! I wonder how Rogelio is going to handle Veronica when his child is born. Will it be an instant replay of how she is treating Jesus and her daughter?

I loved how Xochi and Jessica covered up Maricela's mouth when she was screaming "I love you" at the departing Ricardo. So glad he is gone and hope he is gone for good.

On we go back to court for hopefully some good news tomorrow.

Breaking the time continuum.

Well... When they said it was mother's day I laughed so hard I couldn't believe myself! Really? What year? Is this a time travelling TN now? Because if they got engaged on April 27th this may has to be for the following year, right? To share with us a tidbit of knowledge before going to bed tonight, Chatita told us that May 10th is also Day of San Juan de Avila (died on 5.10.1569)

Juárever, I watched this while filing my nails for wednesday. What a banquet!

Add to list of annoying things Marisela's fake crying/sobbing.

When you say the magic words ''don't tell anybody'' what you're actually saying is ''let the world know'' specially at AVON!

So it was also on mother's day that Jimena died? What a coincidence!

No Valentina, it didn't hurt, even when the baby could have walked out easily, I had an epidural, that made me lose sensation from my waist down. What you should know is that even when it didn't hurt today, it may hurt occasionally for the rest of my life... but is worth it.

Everybody who leaves AVON, comes back. I am sure Ricardo will be back! With the tail between his legs.

Every time I see the ''cerro de la silla'' I am sure another year went by!

How does time happens here? Has Rogelio spent almost a year with Valentina? Are they counting according to Neurónica's pregnancy?

Did Alma had a tummy tuck while she was under the influence of analgesia? She looks skinnier than ''befoire''.

I predict that Veronica will have the baby and die in childbirth, then Jesus and Alma will raise it with Val and Lulu. And of course Dick will return! In novelas, every good person who becomes a jackass eventually sees the error of his ways.
Kinda odd that Televisa's PEAM left the slap in, but Univision didn't; still jarring to watch either way.

I was surprised that Univisión, who during PESE muted all pejorative words, this time left ''gata'' a term very demeaning to domestic help.

Maybe the audio lady was chatting with the caption lady and none of them payed attention...

Cheryl, thanks for the coverage of the happy new family, the bitter mother-to-be, the rescue of the abused princess, etc. I liked Domitila and Rog standing up for Valentina.
What a beautiful photo of the horse(s). You should be very proud of your work.

Cheryl, great news about your amazing photograph and thank you for sharing Lucy and Ruben. They are both truly stunning.

For a long time I thought Veronica would somehow turn around and be salvaged, but I no longer believe it. Her bitterness has finally eaten her brain. She has become inconvenient. Not a good thing for a telenovela character.

Thanks for the wonderful recap. It was truly enjoyable and allowed me to FF through the icky bits. Thanks for taking one for the team amiga!

Congratulations Cheryl! There was never a doubt your fabulous pictures would be shown.

Cheers to Rog. Loved when he walked in that courtroom, and he most likely knows full well what that means from Virus in the revenge department. One more notch up the redemption latter. As for Virus, she needs to never lay a hand on that child again nor have anything to do with her newborn. Rog will have to serve his time at some point I think to seal his trying to make amends plot, so I vote for Ferny and Xochi to raise little Rogelita or Rog Jr.

Could Richie Ric be anymore obnoxious? I'm sure we will see him out of money and begging for his old job back and everyone all kissy-huggy at the end of this thing though. Operative point---do we care? Yeah, I didn't think so...

We had our happy family moment, which means cue the crazy. So who ruins things first, Marta or Virus?

Daisynjay

I think Paty put it right when she said HARM-Veronica was a hypocrite.

Thank you, Cheryl, and congrats on your photo being selected - not that anyone should be surprised!

Thanks also to Blue Lass for the weekend recap. Sorry I missed the party! Ginger beer and tepache! (I wonder if they mix well?) Peignoirs and email-reading outfits!

I will be preparing my recapping robe for tonight.

I'm usually not wild about huge time jumps, but at the same time I'm REALLY glad we were spared seven months (or however many we skipped) of real time. *shudder*

Someone should inform Vero that withholding food as punishment is worse than medieval. It's probably a quick way to lose custody, too.

Marta's doctor needs to have his head examined if he can't figure out why the meds aren't improving his patient's condition AND she suddently stopped obsessing about her dead child AND her twin sister stopped visiting right around when all this happened. Idiot.

Pablo, I also noticed that Univision always includes "gata" and "negrita" among the captions, but ALWAYS puts "..." for Paty's last name, Zorilla.

...and zorrilla is a female skunk!

Make death threats in front of the judge won't help Harm-ónica either.

If I were Isaías, I would start searching for the other twin pronto, because BOTH OF THEM belong in that Institution! BOTH!

... oops!

PS:

.. and a last name too!

I wonder how would Univisión and/or the caption lady would transcribe my name:

Ima Hogg

Wonderful photos, Cheryl. Thanks for sharing them as well as you fab recap.

Who'd a thunk a few weeks ago that Rogelio would become one of my favorites. Way to make amends, Rog.
the judge did say to him that she wanted his testimony because he had lived with Val & Vero for almost a year.

Little Luisa is adorable & how nice to spend a few minutes of familial bliss before wacko Marta messes everything up.

Pato needs to go back to her counselor. It's prett common for addicts of any sort to give up the treatment when they start to improve -- believing that they can handle it on their own. This relapse may just show her how much she needs to stick with her treatment.

Marta looking at the baby & calling her Ximena -- how scary.

Güera

Something happened in this 20 episodes (137-157) that doesn't add up.
I am going back in time to review them to see how in the heck Little Luisita spent more than 9 months in momma's belly.
I'll keep you posted.

BTW

When I click on the MANDA label, the page shows only until 139. I don't see ''older entries'' so I can go back to 137 (I recapped it so I remember april 27th. as an important date and I want to start from there).

Anyone know how to review from 137 and up?

Thanks! Much appreciated!

(Oh, I am on google chrome)

Pablo, thank you for your Tepache recipe. It reminded me that a woman I used to work with would occasionally make that at work. It was a fun and tasty project.

Don't forget that even though they are in the same family, Google Chrome and Blogger do not like to play nicely with each other.

There's a note on the sidebar that says the feeds don't work in Chrome. You have to use Firefox, IE, or pretty much anything except Chrome.

However, here is a direct link to #137: http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2013/09/peam-137-91813-what-is-big-ugly-and.html

Thanks Cheryl. The recap is great. The pics are phenomenal. How did you get Ruben looks like a painting? Congrats.

Thanks Blue. So Ricardo met Vicki, COINCIDENTALLY, at a nightclub. TN rules in full force (probably the only nightclub in Monterrey, too).

Think Doc. You let Marta’s IDENTICAL TWIN sister have unsupervised visits, Marcia has probably been telling you, everyday would be my guess, that she’s Marcia not Marta. And what Julie said, the meds aren’t working, she’s not obsessing about Jimena, her sister stopped visiting. Something’s wrong here, Dr. About To Be Sued for Malpractice.

Maybe Rog won’t be going to prison. They probably meant him to in the original story, with Pato hooking up with Elias. Now that Eli is gone, they have to redeem Rog for Pato. Maybe they’ll just drop that part of the story.

Poor Pato, stress is her klepto trigger. Having to spend months waiting for her boyfriend’s lover to have his baby and then her best friend gives birth (that was probably the last trigger straw). Loved that she came right back to confess.

When they started mentioning Chatita’s real name months into the TN, I thought it was kind of weird so it must have some sort of purpose. Now we know.

After watching Vero in this ep and in the previews, I started thinking again about that one decision of hers that brought her to this downward spiral, leaving the one man who loved and accepted her for a chance at a man who wasn't interested in her that her delusional mind let her believe was. Just that one crucial decision.

If Eli does come back for the gran final, maybe they'll have them hook up again though, frankly, I really don't want to see Vero redeemed. She's definitely the one character, along with Marta, that needs to go down. Go down hard. Though, to be fair, Marta is mentally ill, so I don't want her go down to be hard.

Nanette

Thanks.
I found that in my SEND MAIL folder, I guessed 138 (proposal) and I am reading the rest. Sorry, it is my OCD and now I need to know where is the little ball? Donde quedó la bolita?

I don't think we will see Elias, or the actor, back for this TN. I think that ship has sailed.

I like your point about Virus though. Should have just been happy with that she had. I know this is a comedy, so my guess is no matter what she does, if they don't kill her off, they will redeem her. Which the way this is being written will most likely be a lot of weeping, gnashing of teeth, stupid sound affects and then group hug. Blech! Depending on what she does still, I am not a fan of her getting off without some sort of "penance".

Daisynjay

I was thinking last night, these PEAM people sure do have a strange way of celebrating Mother's Day. (Especially Vero telling Domi "take it to the kitchen, throw it in the trash, whatever you want" with Valentina's drawing.)

Maybe is to accentuate the honeyness and the sweet as molasses love dripping from everybody who is right now near Jesús.

If you see how evil and damaging Verónica is, you will appreciate the ''true'' value of family and the way IT SHOULD BE!! OK?

I hate when people try to tell me what to do and how to do it! OK, they praise Virgin of Guadalupe, OK, they all have loving families that sweat maple syrup from all their pores. OK, OK, I get it!!

Maybe they wanna preach by ''example'' since México still has a lot of domestic violence and child abuse. But, if you live in a country that every summer has the ''most biggest'' temporary fake beach for all people to use for free and every winter the ''most biggest'' temporary fake ice skating ring for all people to use for free, when most of the people don't have water TO FLUSH THEIR TOILETS -if they have toilets), what could we expect?

Give them cake!!

Vero's evil has been escalating from the very beginning, and there is no end in sight. Even if we blamed some of this on pregnancy hormones (and I'd rather we didn't), we knew she had a mean streak long before the pregnancy began.

So, I'm not expecting her to be redeemed. I'm just wondering if she will do something so unforgivable and irreversible that she actually has to die. (Cruel Shoes, an altered center of gravity, and a high staircase? Come on - we all see the opportunity. The baby can survive, but Vero doesn't have to!)

I really don't appreciate that all of the nastiest/mentally ill characters in this TN are female. The men can be rude, eccentric, or delusional, but if you really want a messed-up character in PEAM, you have to turn to the women.

And since I'm feeling grumpy, I'll also mention how odd it looked to me when they were handing the infant around in the hospital room. Paty had been touching her own face and hair just before she touched the baby. Some hospitals have very strict rules about this sort of thing.

And remember, guys, this is supposed to be a "comedy."

Jarifa

Yeah, right!

Anybody remembers which one was the first ''dramedy''TN? Was LFMB?
There are many outside México, but I'd like to know how did mexican producers thought about the idea of inbreding theirs with ''comedy''.

Because maybe a few had gone OK. But I am sure that most had come out awful.
HQEDNS, UFCS, ZULEEC, what else?

Cheryl, thanks for the recap and also for the stunning horse pictures. I am wondering if I will be able to buy a print of Ruben. I think he would add a lot of class and flair to my office wall!

Rico's behavior is making me wonder. I don't think excess money really changes a person; it just amplifies or enables attitudes they already held. I think it's highly possible that he was attracted to Marisela in the first place because he thought she was rich. Frankly, her personality left a lot to be desired. Then when he found out she wasn't, I think maybe he wasn't JUST mad about the lying, he was also mad that he wasn't hooking up with the moneybags he thought she was. He has always had a really unhealthy relationship with money. His "friends" complain that he's changed, but I don't think he's changed much at all. He just didn't have the independence that made him feel free to be a jerk before. He was more of a Nice Guy™ who used his niceness as currency than an actual good person.

The timeline makes absolutely no sense. They shouldn't have claimed the baby was born on Mother's Day, because we know that Alma & Rogue's disastrous wedding was in January, she ditched him and hooked up with Chucho some time after that, but not a really long time after, and the baby was conceived maybe a few weeks later. Valentina has only had one birthday, so more than a full year didn't pass.

I'm glad Rogue testified the way he did. As long as he's in court, he should also put in a request for custody of his own baby. The judge has finally realized that Vero is a monster, it seems.

Al Diablo Con los Guapos was a drama with a lot of comedy, and I liked that one. I liked Un Gancho al Corazón, too. That one was very funny.

I finished my investigation and founf out that Alma's had indeed a very elephantastic pregnancy. More than one full year!! Wow! That Luisita came chewing her way out with teeth and all...

Ep 137 Jesús plans a magical/royal proposal for April 27th.
Ep 138 The fairy tale came true
Ep 139 3 weeks later Alma is pregnant (that's gotta be somewhere in may 2012)
Ep 15? After the fall, Chatita asks what year it is and the nurse says, 2013
Ep 153 2 months went by and then another 4 months
Ep 154 If Pythagoras is correct, and if Luisita was born on May 10th., that's like one full year, isn't? Wow! Someone has been smoking illegal substances while writing!

Blame it on Elías, he is gone and he can not defend himself. Due to his abrupt exit, the whole plot came down like a house made of cards!

Valentina has had only one birthday with Rogelio, true, but she's had two parties! So maybe Rogue was confused. ;-)

LFMB was *my* first comedy TN, but even the Colombian version had quite a bit of heavy stuff in it. (I could say the same about PESE.) However, both versions balanced the humor fairly well compared to PEAM and UFCS, which seemed more like dramatic TNs with the humorous bits tacked on with really cheap glue.

Oh! Good catch, Pablo. Valentina's other birthday must have happened during the months we skipped. (I think that's impossible too, but I don't want to think about it. Shouldn't she be taller?)

Noooo, she is not Alma's daughter!

She is Jesús', that's all she is going to grow! LOL!

Veronica, Marta and Ricardo should not be redeemed. They are all horrible. Even when Ricardo was "nice" he was weird and not attractive (not just physically) at all. There was nothing there for Mari to have fallen in love with, nothing! She deserves someone better.

Ay yi yi...your photos simply splendid. I too would love to know if it's possible to get a copy of that sculpted horse. Flat out amazing.

Recap excellent. Episode awful Where is the comedy in this dang thing? There wasn't one funny moment but lots of wretched ones.

Sorry but watching this on the computer has put me in a cranky mood. I know it's just acting but I hate seeing little Valentina "abused". This is NoT comedy. Sorry. No way.

But your photos are pure genius. Thank you Cheryl.

Thanks for all the supportive comments on Lucy and Rubén today, it is so fun to share my true passion with you.

I am not sure how many more episodes of lets torture Valentina some more I can actually stand for. That judge better not be a dip stick. And I agree Rogelio ought to be laying the ground work and paperwork for rescuing his child from the sociopathic fingers of his amante in deed only. They clearly hate each other. Perhaps the vitriol pouring through Veronica's body will harm the fetus? Let's hope not.

Pablo, I have appreciated your irony today especially pointing out the insane and inane lack of continuity these writers give us with never a word of regret.

I think my first comedy as a recapper was Yo Amo Juan Querendón. There were only a few sad details that brought the mood down even though they dealt with some pretty serious subjects. I loved figuring out Eduardo Santamarina's accent from Veracruz and his constant use of obscure slang. Capt. Sharkbait amassed the best vocabulary list ever on that one. I think it was the first or possibly the second time I had worked with the marvelous Sylvia on a recap team. The writing was so much better than PEAM.

Amen to that Cheryl...Juan Querendon was a fun show. This one is. not.

If it weren't for Rog and to some degree Paticakes, I would have quit watching. I miss Elias! I also like Minerva, but she doesn't get enough good scenes.

Oh yeah, JQ was the BOMB! Great vocab and dichos, fun acting, over the top outfits, and Eduardo Santamarina doing tricep dips in short shorts and red cowboy boots. Rowrrrrr! We had fun recapping that one.
