Santa,
my local west coast schedule is saying there will be a show Tuesday, but Telemundo said tonight, nothing till Wednesday, so it looks like NO new novelas Tuesday night.
Part 1
Once the friendly lunch is over, Marcela asks for her money once and for all, but when TC gives her the briefcase, Marce wants a ride, too, which is exactly what TC wanted in the first place.
At Maridas in Alquiler, Gris is giving her first lesson to the new employees – the 4 most important attributes of a good professional are: ability, competency, honesty and education.
Max’s ex trainer thinks that Max could become a coach, too. Max isn’t sure about it, he has no money, but then Ivan, too, encourages him to do it.
Vanesa and Pati come to the restaurant after school, but Rei is not there. So Simon takes the opportunity to invite Pati back in the kitchen, where he can fix her something to eat; and, of course, the invitation has to be extended to Vanesa, too.
Once in the kitchen, though, Simon gets rid of Vane by telling her that before he left, Rei said that she has to check some of the reservations for that night. Since Rei was the one asking, Vanesa hurries to do the job, which is exactly what Simon wanted, so he can be alone with Pati (as alone as they can be in a full staffed kitchen).
Manuel calls Celeste to ask about the business and about Sol. Work is great, a lot of clients, Celeste happily reports and Sol is outside with some friends.
But she’s only covering for Sol, because the girl is at Daniel’s school, asking for a ride again. He tries to set her straight – he’s NOT interested. Ok, then, chill, how about that ride? Daniel agrees to a friendly aventon, but when he drops Soll off, she kisses him all the same.
I’m not yet sure if Daniel is gay or maybe he just thinks Sol is too young, but his expression after that kiss makes me think that he could like her, too, if he stopped being so uptight.
Because Daniel left with Sol, Tony was left without a ride. So he has to walk to his mom’s work (after noticing TC’s car being followed by another one – Hm….).
He complains to Gris that he needs a car, too, both K and Amalia have one. Yes, but they work, Gris explains, you’re still a student and students need to make a lot of sacrifice – the bus is always available.
Pati is amazed by what a great cook Simon is, too. She tastes his food, and since this is a romance in the waiting, the incredibly proper and good mannered Pati suddenly doesn’t know how to eat anymore – Simon has to wipe her mouth, while some serious gazing and smiling takes place.
Soon enough Vanesa comes back from her chores, just in time to see how Simon gives Pati her favorite chocolate ice cream. Oh, Pati can’t believe that Simon remembered that.
And here comes Rei, finding out from Vanesa about Simon’s great efforts with Pati.
This is Simon’s cue to leave, not before getting a warm thank you from Pati.
JP is remembering the scene at the hospital, with Esther and Gabe and asks Marcia to find out the address of the taco place Esther always eats from. Stat!
K tries to convince Gris that Tony deserves a car, too. He’s in so much pain now because of Pati and besides, in a city like Miami a car is very necessary. Gris still resists the idea, since Tony doesn’t have a job, but K insists that Tony studies a lot and in this country even teenagers have cars, Tony should have one, too. Ugh…
Later on Gris goes to eat her lunch at the taco bar. When Gabe arrives from dropping off Esther, she’s surprised he wasn’t there before. Clara mentions how he helped a new woman friend and Gris is curious to know more details. Gabe asks her to butt out, but Gris still asks Clara if Gabe is interested in another woman. Clara thinks that’s true, even if later on Gabe tells her that he and Esther are only friends.
Part 2
Pati is telling Rei that she went back to school, she doesn’t want to succumb to the same depression she suffered after she found out the truth about Tony. After she says goodbye to her dad, she promises Simon that now that she knows he’s a good cook, too, she’ll come to bother him more often. Simon looks smitten.
Rei tries to call TC again, but her phone is off; Ro tries to do it, too, with the same results.
And that is because TC’s plan was for Fernando and his gang to attack her car. Fer warned the others not to harm the driver, though.
When the attackers manage to stop the car, wearing masks, Marcela wants to leave with her briefcase of money and one of the guys shots her straight in the heart. She realizes TC set the whole thing up, TC resists the accusation just a little, before asking her to die already, maldita! Marcela passes out, Fer takes off his mask and checks her pulse – Dead!
TC gives him the purses and runs off, screaming (but what happened with the briefcase?)
She rips her jacket and ruffles her hair and then she finds a police car – she explains how she and her friend were attacked and the friend was shot dead.
When they arrive back at the scene of the accident, TC calls Rei and tells him what happened. And then gets the first true shock of the day: Marcela is still alive! TC’s next call: her lawyer, to ask him what countries have no extradition laws with the US.
Back at the restaurant, it’s Vanesa’s turn to warn Simon about inappropriate feelings, because she knows he’s in love with Pati – why did he wait so long to make his first move, he wanted Pati to be fragile and easy to influence?
Simon warns her that he’s a friend of the family, too and he can also fire her, but Vanesa gets the upper hand this time: if Rei finds out, he won’t be happy, now will he?
Beatriz comes for her interview with Gris. She is very well suited for the job, so she’s hired. Gris tells K that she likes Bea very much. K kind of likes her, too and now that Clara no longer wants him… why not?
But Bea is interested in the other brother. She tells Esther the good news about her job and then calls Tony to thank him for his help. Tony invites her to celebrate with pizza and Bea agrees, just as long as she pays – Great, that’s exactly how Tony likes his women!
Bea also notices that Esther got a brand new, handsome friend – Gabriel. Yes, but Esther doesn’t have time for men now, she’s still married and pregnant… We’ll see…
Rei arrives at the scene of the crime, TC is screaming and whining, this time for real because Marcela is very much alive and one of the cops said she’ll pull through.
TC wants to leave the country immediately, it’s too dangerous for them to remain here. Rei tries to calm her, just as one of the cops comes to ask TC to go to the station for her statement. Rei thinks they should call their lawyer – TC is not too happy about this, since she just talked to him.
Ivan and Paloma have their date at the restaurant. This is not the kind of place she usually comes to, even if she’s cousins with the chef. As long as Rei isn’t there to see them together and get the wrong impression, she’s fine, though, they don’t need to leave.
What wrong impression? Ivan burst. How long are we going to continue with this act? You tell me one thing and you write another! I write? Paloma looks clueless…
Amalia is at home, making counts for her business, when Pati shows up. She’s amazed by the kind of work Amelia does. Her? She’s still trying to forget Tony.
Ines and Mario come in to tell Amalia that dinner has been ordered and now they’d like to go. They’re both afraid that Amalia’s hard work could rub off on them …
Susana wants to talk with Rafa about work, but he completely shuts her down… whispering about his beloved Amalia.
Part 3
TC is about to sign her statement at the police station when Rei gets a call from Simon: a very famous and important critic, a certain Miro, is at the restaurant. Rei asks Simon to take care of things alone because he can’t go, but TC takes advantage of the situation to get rid of Rei. She assures him that she’ll be alright alone until Manuel comes to pick her up.
Rei reluctantly accepts to leave, which is exactly what TC wanted. Now Gomez, the lawyer, can question her about what on Earth really happened in that car and why did she call him to ask about no extradition countries!!
I won't be able to post a recap for tonight, because I have an exam early tomorrow morning, when I usually post. If nobody else can do it, I might be able to post one later in the afternoon, if I have the time to watch the show by then.
Sorry! I can make up with Wednesday, though, I don't think anyone has that day officially.
My usual from-memory Monday recapette:
Inés and Willy: Inés falls to her knees when she realizes that the cellar dweller is Willy. At first she runs away but them comes back and embraces Willy. She asks Willy who did this to him and then answers her own question, “Was it Daddy?” Willy says yes and tells Inés that her Daddy did this because he got Inés pregnant. After running around telling everyone that she had been pregnant once, Inés now denies it. Then she is doubtful. Willy asks her to help him escape. She replies that Daddy would kill her if she did that. She does go get Willy some food and makes him an offer: she will help him escape if he gets her pregnant. [Isn’t Santi doing his marital duty in that department? Why does she need another sperm donor?]
Vicky & Patricio: Patricio continues with the charade of his supposed twin’s funeral and Vicky is buying the whole thing. They go back home & Ulises announces that he has to leave that day. Vicky begs him to stay and go with her to Iván’s trial. He agrees. It seems that Vicky has bought all of Patricio’s lies and accepted whatever his explanation was (I forgot) about why he lied about donating the kidney.
It’s no wonder the Cano law firm is going under. Bert is distracted by his financial problems and has clearly not prepared for Iván’s trial. He tries to reach his partner but Vicente is off romancing Elisa and has turned off his phone. He surprised her with a kiss on Friday's episode and on Monday she tells him that he can court her. Meanwhile, Paula is holding the fort at the office. George comes in and asks her to go for a drink with him and she agrees!
Mara, who has just closed her café for the day with no warning to her clients or staff (Santi didn’t know), is having fun at the beach with Lázaro. He kisses her. She is not happy and wants to leave but Lázaro tells her that he will respect her wishes going forward and Mara changes her mind and stays.
Santi finds out that the family is being evicted from the Cano house and he accuses Samanda of causing this. Little Willy comes in and runs to Santi. Little Willy tells Samanda that he wants Santi to be his father. Santa complains to Begoña that she is tired of people dissing Big Willy. He was a great guy, a perfect husband and would never have deceived her. Begoña mentions Inés but Samanda won’t accept any criticism of her dead husband.
Horti meets the Padre at the hospital. She says that Arturo is wasting away in a coma and his prospects don’t look good. She seems to be more upset about Lisette inheriting her money as Arturo’s widow than losing her only remaining son. The Padre is shocked. [Bert must be Horti’s lawyer because she could just make or change her will and leave her money in trust to the grandchild if her son predeceased her.]
Tránsito refused to identify the body of the hooker as one of her girls. Pancho now thinks that he is on the wrong track about the murders of prostitutes being tied to trafficking in women. He now believes that they are crimes of passion.
Iván’s trial: Iván gets on the stand and tells the whole story about what happened without mentioning that Vicky was involved in his dispute with Carlos. He states that Patricio killed Carlos but does not offer any explanation of why Carlos kidnapped him. Iván is testifying as part of the Prosecutor’s case, which would never happen and Bert is just sitting there like he has never heard this story before so of course he won’t have done any investigation of Patricio and won’t have any witnesses to support Ivan’s story. It’s going to be a short trial.
Santi goes up to Samanda’s room to make up. They kiss and in walks Bárbara. She is shocked and says that she suspected something was going on between Santi and Samanda all along.
Vicente has shown up at that Cano house looking for Bert. He finds out about the eviction notice. Francisca gives him her usual, “I will only leave this house feet first,” line. Vicente tells her to trust “nuestro hijo,” who is a good lawyer. Then he mentions Bert by name as their son. Samanda is listening. She is impactada. So finally we know that Bert is Vicente’s son. At least once, Fran & Vicente referred to multiple children so there may be more revelations.
I may just have to give up Monday Night Football, this show sounds so wild! And your recap, Jean, was perfect in getting across the nutty events. Thanks. I wonder what Padre Milton would say if he found out Bert was Vicente and Fran's son! Yes, almost EVERYBODY on this show lies or has secrets. I love it!
Thanks, Adriana, for another wonderful recap. I don't think there's a show tonight, so you don't have to worry about recapping. Good luck on your exam!
So the musical chairs of romance are in full swing, with Pati and Simon starting up, maybe Beatriz and Tony, maybe Ester and Gabe. It sounds as if Paloma could find out that someone is "helping" her relationship with Ivan.
I doubt TC will get in trouble right away about Marcela, and we may get some scenes in the hospital with someone trying to smother Marcela, or messing with her IV. Or maybe Marcela will be in a coma. For sure, it'll be one of the telenovela plots we've seen many times. But I don't expect Marcela to live long, because not one person likes her. She has no boyfriend, and has angered half the cast. Well, MAYBE JP has some feelings for her, but we'll see.
Jean, thanks for your great recap - good memory! And thank you for clearing up the Vicente/Fran conversation about “nuestro hijo” and multiple children. I had not understood the parts about multiple children.
Now we know who Ines' sperm donor will be. I hope she cleans him up before using his services. Eeuww!
Bert looked at first uninformed and then like he might be plotting his defense during Ivan's testimony. Incriminating Patricio will be difficult though. I'm guessing Lisette will figure out the Vicky piece and tell Bert.
Santa is not going to give up her illusions about Willy easily. Begona's going to take the brunt of Santa's anger when she learns the truth about Willy.
Wee Willy's attachment to Santi reinforces my belief that Santi and Willy are the twins.
Once again Fran says, “I will only leave this house feet first”. I can't tell if the writers are playing with us or have ordered up her anvil.
Beth
deb, thank you for posting that info! from the looks to the trailer here:
http://www.tvboricuausa.com/2013/09/exclusiva-morelos-y-zurita.html#.Ul2W1SSc7RK
they've recycled the baddies from DYO !
though i am a little scared they have the characters switched. i've liked that sebastian kid (well, liked is more like was infatuated with) since he was the gypsy's boyfriend on corazon salvage. sure would like to see him in a big role.
does this merit a posting on the "new novelas" thread?
-mai tai
Tks Jean
Hombre, you only need to watch the last 15 min of football, nada happens 'til then.
This thing is crazy & I love it. I was a little concerned about Humberto's involvement in the trial. His brain is probably just working overtime.
Thank you for the recap, Jean, this tn is so entertaining, I'm having a blast watching it.
So Willy turned from prisoner to sex slave? I hope Ines helps him take a shower before the impregnating takes place, though...(Blech)
I understand why Santa would feel the need to fight tooth and nail for Willy's reputation - he was her husband, he never gave her any reasons to doubt and she put her entire life on hold to avenge him.
And yet, she gets no sympathy from me, could be because of the actress, I find her very unlikable in this part.
Isn't it funny how the first time everyone found out the truth about what happened the day Carlos died was during trial? Ivan didn't even think it necessary to tell his lawyer about it? That's just stupid, Humber might be a great lawyer, but having some time to prepare would have helped.
Not that he had too much time, though, with everything happening around him.
And may I stress again how useless and unrealistic this whole love story between Santa and Santi appears? How can he truly love her when she's rooting for his family to suffer the worst fate?
For me this is just lust, infatuation...I don't know. Humeber's love makes more sense to me, at least he's conflicted about it.
Yikes! Isabel followed Pedro to San Francisco. She begs him not to turn her away because she has nowhere to go. He tells he's in no condition to take care of someone else. He needs to be alone right now. She is willing to help him work or to clean…."oh pleeeeeaaase let me stay with you."
Tomás thinks it's strange that ED is willing to invest in his company and hasn't said a thing about what kind of company it is. Au contraire–ED has found out who Tomás Villamayor is and what he does. ED is willing to invest on two conditions: that everything is in writing and no questions asked. Tomás agrees and the two toast their new arrangement.
Ignacia informs Abuela about Estela's suicide attempt. Mariano asks, "Are you sure? It wouldn't be the first time she invented an illness to manipulate us." Ignacia forbids him to speak about Estela that way. Oh Ignacia…supposed father knows best.
Tomás walks into Estela's hospital room. She takes off the neck brace and asks how much longer she's going to have to pretend with Ignacia. He says if this doesn't convince her to stay then he has another plan for her. He tells her that his money problems are gone and asks her not to say anything to Ignacia about that. He wants her to think he's vulnerable because of the pending bankruptcy. Ignacia: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!
According to the doctor, Estela needs attention, care, and support. Ignacia proposes finding an apartment for the two of them. Mariano offers to move out so Estela can stay there. Ignacia tells him that if he doesn't believe in her illness then she doesn't need his charity. Reuben comes home and they tell him what happened. He agrees with Mariano!
Evil Nurse says to Tomás' father as she forces another pill into his mouth: "Your son is a genius. He forced his mother-in-law to fake a suicide attempt. And then he hired witnesses just in case his wife started asking questions. Oh and he paid a doctor to give her fake cuts and contusions. The doctor is filling that Ignacia chick's head with all sorts of crap to make her afraid. He is the worst! Turned out just like you Don Ernesto. I've been doing some research. You were horrible to your wife." She throws water in his face. "That's for her." She leaves and we see Don Ernesto spit out the pill.
Pedro and Isabel argue about who will sleep on the sofa. They agree to share the bed. Pedro is going to sleep fully dressed.
Nice brother-sister (real ones) chat between Ignacia and Reuben. Ignacia wishes she could go back and make it all better. Reuben says they are both victims and that someday she will be able to forget about all this and he will be with Lupita and their daughter.
Next morning Ignacia goes to see Estela and tells her about her plans to rent an apartment for the two of them. Estela puts on a Oscar-winning performance. She insists on going back to Tomás' house. The "doctor" advises Ignacia that she needs stability. Ignacia says that Tomás house is not a good place for either of them, The "doctor" warns her that Estela could try and take her life again.
Up in San Fran Isabel wakes up, finds Pedro gone, and goes into the bathroom to throw up. Pedro returns with breakfast and a newspaper. He is going to go out to look for work. He tells her while he's gone she can get to know the city better and find a place to live. He is circling want ads that he is going to follow up on. He leaves and she calls Gema to tell her about the wonderful guy she met. Gema warns her to be careful.
JM meets Ignacia at the hospital. She tells him about Estela's "diagnosis" and the "doctor's" advice. She is going to move back in with Tomás. Cara de impactada de JM. He suggests a second opinion but Ignacia doesn't feel it's necessary. He offers his apartment while he stays with a friend (he has friends?) but she tells him there's no other way.
ED is sitting in a car watching Angel swaying down the street, drinking out of a paper bag. He orders his thugs to take him to his mother's house.
Neto visits the 'hood in his new duds. Prudencio advises him to be smart with his money. "Invest it in something you enjoy." Neto has thought about starting a business. "Probably construction since it's the only thing I know." Mireya wheels up and he notices she's wearing the necklace he bought for her. She asks him if he wants it back. Lupita comes out and to cheer her up Neto suggests that they go buy the layette for the baby. They all leave except for Mireya who is jealous of all the attention Lupita is getting just because she's pregnant.
Mireya wants Marge to help her look for Pedro. Too much whimpering. FF>>
Gema's first tries at pole-dancing leave much to be desired but Zafiro encourages her by telling her she is made for pole-dancing. Lorenzo interrupts to tell Zafiro a police officer wants to speak to her. Gema recognizes one of them. It's Gerardo and she's surprised to find out he's a cop.
We see Pedro going to various places with no luck. He winds up at a place called "Alaskan Fishing." "Forty thousand? That's for a year?" A woman explains to him, "No that's for two months. The job is very risky and dangerous. Two out of every 10 fishermen die from hypothermia. That's why it pays so well." Pedro say he has nothing to lose.
JM has to return to the office to do payroll. He tells Ignacia that everything there is chaotic since she left. He leaves and Tomás shows up. Ignacia tells him she will be moving back to his house but only because of her mother. he says he is willing to sell his car to help with the hospital bill but she tells him that it's not necessary. He offers to hire a couple nurses but she says she will tend to her.
Abuela offers to stay with Estela so Ignacia won't have to live under the roof of that monster. Mariano overhears and looks shocked. If there's ever a novela where someone doesn't eavesdrop, the Earth will fall off its axis.
Tomás goes back to his office and pours a drink to celebrate. JM barges in, they argue about Ignacia, and beat each other up. So much for socios.
Isabel surprises Pedro with Chinese take-out. "It's a little something to thank you for saving my life and letting me stay with you." He tells her he got a job. "Doing what?" "Fisherman." "Where?" "In Alaska. Deep-sea fishing and I'll be gone for two months." He takes a swig of the tequila he bought. "I was honest with you when I told you I needed to be alone." To Isabel it sounds like he's trying to die. He says that he already dead inside.
As Ignacia is wheeling Estela into Tomás' house, Estela thanks her for her sacrifice. Ignacia suggests that when she has recuperated they can go live in an apartment together. This ignites another of Estela's stellar performances. She knocked it out of the park with this one. The wheezing and inhaler were a nice touch. (I say that because I had bronchitis this summer.) Tomás comes in and and tells her that this is her home. Ignacia notices the marks on his face and he tells her he fell.
JM stops by Tomás' house. Ignacia notices the marks on his face too and he admits he got into a fight with Tomás. She thanks him for defending her and says he's the best friend she could have. He tries to convince her that it could be more. OK JM. Just. Stop. No. More. Get it through your very thick skull that she's just not into you. But she'll pretend to be into you when Tomás comes into the room. "I signed the divorce papers Tomás Villamayor. I'm free to see anyone I want."
Pedro is pretty drunk now. He told Isabel his story. She says she has a broken heart too. She tries to put him to bed. They end up kissing. Raise your hand if you see a pattern forming here...
Patricio sure was brazen, with an empty coffin. But he used his knowledge of human nature to make sure Vicky never looked inside.
Hortensia did tell Padre Milton she was going to change her will. If she didn't, it's true that if she died, and Arturo died shortly after, her money would go to Arturo, then to Lisette.
Of course Santi isn't happy that Samanda wants revenge against his family. But that doesn't matter, in telenovela reality. We just finished watching La Patrona, which had almost the same situation. Gabi wanted revenge on Alejandro's family, but they were in love. In the end, he agreed, his family was scum, and he would help her. Santiago may do the same.
Samanda does have a tough role to bring off, as she's half Saint, half Devil (Santa Diabla). I for one think she's doing a good job with the constant shocks this show is giving her. And I think the love between Samanda and Santi is very intense, very passionate, able to remain so, even though both are married to others, and various pregnancies keep popping up.
One unrealistic thing is that the family house has been sold, and may have a new owner, and they don't even know! Yeah, right. What happened to all that foreclosure mediation stuff? Of course, maybe Marrero isn't in the US, it's the town of Marrero, in the State of Marrero, in the country of Marrero! That would explain a few things.
I agree with those who guess that George is somehow the new owner. He's a dirtbag, but it sure would wipe Bert's smirk away if George owned the house!
Interesting theory about George owning the house, but where would he have gotten the money, seems to be a big problem for him.
We've never found out what happened with the land investments that George was supposedly making with that cowboy, Alexander Wayne. That's where he'd have gotten the money (if the theory is true, which it probably isn't :)
It actually would be a welcome swerve if Alexander Wayne was on the up-and-up and George really did make bank on his investment, and George needs a reason to stick around to begin with, so yeah--he's got to somehow end up owning House Cano.
And just so I have this straight: Big Willy definitely slept with Ines and Daniela, right? And it's all but confirmed that he and Begona had something going on as well? Even by Telemundo standards, they didn't just destroy his halo--they frigging nuked it from orbit.
Sue455, thanks so much for the recap!
Your efforts have been much appreciated, and also those of AnotherAmy.
This show got a bum deal from the beginning, what with cast changes and plodding plot development.
Now that the writers are forced to cut it short, we are finally getting a few spunky and suspenseful episodes at the end.
Looks like for all the rushing, we will next be treated to either re-runs or an expanded Marido.
However, first we have a lot of those loose ends to tie up. Can't wait to see how many of those anvils Sue ordered will be necessary...
J in Oregon
My question is where did George get the money for the investment? He is and was in debt up to his eyeballs AND he stole his wife's jewelry to pay him part of the debt! I guess Barbie just assumed it was George who took the jewels and went on with her day.
Ines is really something.... get me pregnant and I will free you? She seemed to be angry with him because he mentioned his wife. And she says she thinks her dad will kill her if she frees Willie? Que??! Better to kill Willie slowly than have Papito mad. Weird thinking IMO
I was sooo happy when Ivan finally told the story of what happened (minus Victoria). This should be just enough to keep a seed of doubt in the air. We know Lisette isn't going to give up on Ivan. This is one time when Ivan should be happy Mumsy stays in his business. Or maybe Daniela will come out of her self-centered shell and save the day.
The Lucy character is great comic relief for now.
And Vincente, IMO, has met his match with Elisa. He might take her for a ride at first, but if he messes with her I bet he will be really really sorry.
So sad to see the end being cut so short. Those ultimas semanas turned out fo be ulfimos capitulos. There's a lot to cover in 3 days. I was kind of liking the idea of a Pedro/Isabel hookup, especially considering how Ignacia's IQ has taken another magor dive lately. As for JM, please let him be the first one eliminated. Poor actor had the same pathetic role in Maid en Manhattan.
Josie
Thanks for the recap Sue! Greatly appreciated!
I'm surprised that Isabel settled in so quickly with Pedro. He could be a serial killer for all she knows. I wonder what she'll say when she founds that the second guy she has developed feelings for also loves Iggy. Another detail to add the pattern she seems to have going on.
I like Iggy, but right now want to slap some sense into her. She should just trick her mom and drag her somewhere else. NOT under the roof of her ex's house who had something going on with her mom. Hate how estela makes a mockery of their mom/daughter relationship.
Should be interesting to see what role Tomas' dad will play in the end. Right now my guess is that he will be the one to kill Tomas after he kept him drugged all this time.
I agree with ya'll Josie & JinO, sucks that this tn is being rushed out. At the least, a 2hr finale would of been nice.
General
Looks like Reina del Sur won the facebook contest. I saw promos for it during yesterday's game. Too bad, the Brazilian tn looked good
jlk
Sigh. I'm on board with the "it's too early to say goodbye" crew. So many secrets, so many pregnancies, I have the feeling the ending will be a total ripoff. How could it not be?
A Pedro/Isabel hookup??? Come ON! There's not even time for her to claim it's Pedro's baby!
Tomas's dad knows so much now that I have a feeling he'll have a miraculous "ultimo capitulo" recovery. Along with Mireya's "ultimo capitulo" out-ing. Is Oleg going to show up again? So many questions, so little creativity.
I only have any hope for Marido because the only problem with it is the slow pacing-I'm surprised none of TC's deeds have come out to Rei.
I'm actively watching Mentir para Vivir which is really good
And yes, I think Mentir para Vivir is the best tn right now, too.

Ru-ben watches Loopita grow, but from afar,
Mireya and Tomas get it on,
Prudencio brings Margarita flowers,
Neto buys a shiny red car, takes everyone for a ride, all but Mireya,
part 2
*6 months later
Pedro returns, rents the same room in San Francisco,
jumps on a real bed, but there is a knock at the door,
it's Invisabel, a very pregnant Invisabel,
surprise turns to confusion, when Pedro learns he is the father,
she just wanted to let him know, and leaves,
wait Pedro says, I'll be responsible for this,
*casa Tomas
Estela gets a letter, no return address,
in cut out letters, does it say "Liar"
as she wonders what that is all about,
we see from behind a creepy guy in a creepy place looking at his wall of Estela pictures,
all with a red X drawn across her face,
Ignacia comes into Estela's room,
she is determined to leave,
as Estela pleads with her, she sees Karina in the room,
and freaks,
Ignacia gets some pills into her, and later she talks with Tomas,
Tomas brings up all of the reasons why Ignacia can't leave,
later JM visits,
he has been working on Ignacia all these months to be more than a pretend boyfriend,
he asks to marry her,
Ignacia gives in, "accepto".
but a berserk Tomas has appeared out of no where, tells JM, I will kill you first,
*San Francisco
once again Invisabel is at the door, this time with all of her stuff,
later as she is going over Pedro's savings,
she says they can afford a nice house,
Pedro is going along with this but finally says,
first I have something to do, I need to go to L.A.,
ok, a not-too-Invisabel says, I'll go with you.
Thursday: Thank you Deb! Your unique 'voice' gives your comments and recaps a wonderful style which I enjoy! And appreciate this complete recap.
MIssed the last ten minutes last night so very happy to read your complete summary. No way, poor Pedro once again engaged to a woman out of a sense of duty.
I'm still wondering who is going to get the horse tranquilizer that Tomas scored from the crooked nurse...
When Prudencio first appeared, they did the same thing with camera showing only o his feet. At the time I thought it might be Ernesto/Enrique *Estela's lover and Iggy's father. The new set of feet doesn't look quite so benign...
J in Oregon
Samanda has just heard Fran and Vicente discussing their son, Bert! I didn’t hear anything about multiple children, so for now, it’s just Bert. They’re hopeful he’ll win the case against Iván. Sam does NOT tell this to Santiago, but she does tell the news to Begoña, who asks what’s she’s gonna do with this info. “Use it”, she replies cagily.
At the beach, Mara and Lazaro have a nice day, lots of smiles. She’s relatively firm in her desire that this will not go beyond being friends. We know he wants more. But he agrees to just a little peck of good bye to end their happy day.
Even though Sam tells little Willy they’ll never forget his father, the kid keeps saying he wants Santiago as his Dad! Both Sam and Santi don’t know what to do about this, although they agree he needs a paternal influence.
Hortensia is still upset that Art could die, and somehow Lisette could inherit Horti’s fortune. She tells Padre Milton she has a “plan”, and he’s part of it. Uh oh.
Inés finishes closing up the door to Willy’s dungeon, telling herself she’ll be back (for the sex, I guess). Both Santi and Vicente have been wondering where she’s been. When she arrives back at the house, Lucy is all ready for some friendly chit chat, but Inés is so not in the mood. Santi says where were you, she says buying clothes (on the phone she had said buying clothes for the baby to come). He questions her, and Lucy is amused by their first “newly marrieds’quarrel”, until she’s shooed away. Upstairs, Santi sees a plastic bag Inés had, and finds a door handle and a screwdriver (she had replaced the door handle she broke at the cabaña). She gives the weak explanation that she just “found”these in her car. Oh, and the clothes? Couldn’t find anything she liked. Right.
Vicente goes to give Willy more food, and when he gets too close, Willy wraps his chains around Vicente’s neck and starts to choke him! Somehow Vicente grabs a wrench, conks Willy, and gets away, saying you’ll never get out of here. Willy says he’ll kill Vicente. Later, Vicente arrives home looking haggard and with a red neck, but he convinces Inés and Santi it’s nothing.
Paula’s been on her date with George. We don’t know either one’s motives. Either they’re attracted to each other, or one or both has a plan. I’d say it’s more likely that clueless Paula has no plan. They go back to her place, and George says he can tell from the house something about it’s owner. Paula must be sensitive, honest, not hiding any of her sentiments (yeah, right). This turns Paula on a bit, and before you know it, she’s down to her underwear. But she stops George just in time, realizing she’s getting carried away. He says he won’t pressure her, he has all the time in the world. In fact, he’s a new person, with a brand new life. Right again. Not.
Now for the trial. Iván has told his side of the story. To me, this already raises some doubt as to his guilt. Now it’s Patricio’s turn. He promises to tell the truth, unlike that lying pipsqueak, which prompts Lisette to start screaming, and Bert has to quiet her. Pat says that Carlos left to meet up with Iván at the docks. But why would he do that? Pat lets it out. Because that 18 year had a romance with Carlos’s sister, Victoria! Vicky goes red as a beet, almost faints. Lisette screams some more. Bert is also shocked, but coolly continues, so why aren’t you upset, since you claim to love Vicky? Pat says he is upset, but he’s forgiven her. Oh really? Bert continues. Isn’t it more likely that YOU killed Carlos, in a rage, and set up Iván?! It looks as if Bert has made some points here.
Vicky is called to the stand, and she tearfully admits her affair with Iván. She agrees that Carlos went to the docks to confront Iván. But not Pat. He went to visit someone. That woman (Tránsito). So they call Tránsito to the stand, and she backs up Pat’s alibi. Bert asks if she has any witnesses that Pat visited her. Well, no. So, says Bert, are we going to take the word of a prostitute? We all know prostitutes lie! This is very politically incorrect, and terribly mean and insensitive, but you get the feeling this may raise some doubt with the jury.
So the jury comes back with the verdict, read by the judge. GUILTY! And the sentence is 35 years at the maximum security prison! Lisette is livid. She blames Vicky, how could you mess with my young son, and calls Patricio a murderer, despite the fact that he threatens to sue for defamation. She’s also pissed at Bert, who’s supposed to be such a great lawyer. She won’t rest until she saves her little boy! Later, we see Ulises listening in to Vicky and Pat. It’s clear he has his doubts about Pat.
And we find out a little more about the verdict, as Pat meets with the judge and gives him a huge suitcase full of cash, job well done! The judge felt it was a little harsh, 35 years, and the kid may not have done it, but money talks. We also see Iván at the jail, apparently the guards have it in for him too, as he’s cruelly searched and yelled at by the head guard. And just wait until we see what kind of cellmate he’ll probably get!
Back at the mansion, Bert sadly tells Samanda the news. He’s distraught, the house has been lost, and now he’s lost this case. Sam looks as if she is really moved by this, and gently puts her hand on his shoulder. She then hugs him, saying she’s sorry for his pain, and he is very grateful for this gesture. Until Bárbara walks in, and spits out the fact that she saw Amanda romantically kissing Santiago in this very room, earlier today!!!!
I almost forgot. When Vicente struggled with Willy, his phone fell to the floor. Later, Ines goes to call her Dad, the phone rings near Santiago, and he stretches and stretches, trying to reach it!
wow, thanks Hombre,
great summary!
interesting trial, it's a good thing that so many people showed up, so Humberto, after hearing what happened, had some witnesses to put on the stand.
so Willy may get the phone, who will he call, Santa?
I haven't had a good look at Willy's chains yet, is there a keyed lock, would Willy have gotten away if he killed Vicente?
I couldn't tell if Patricio gave the judge the whole money case or just that huge pile of bills, but wow, I didn't see that he had the judge in his pocket.
I could really see Transito cringe when she was called to the stand, she can tell a very convincing lie, and later at her favorite spot at the Trebol de Oro bar, when Patricio comes to collect her to celebrate, double cringe.
it's an interesting game Patricio is playing with Victoria, in that he has her believing him, going against everything Ivan told her, but didn't Ulises doubt Ivan's innocence as well.
Humberto's defense was brilliant, imagine how good it would have been if he had actually prepared something, like had Patricio's aunt there to put on the stand.
a tender moment, Santa comforting Humberto, but what makes Barbara so righteous, it's not like Santa was in bed with 2 guys.
poor, poor Ivan, his secret with Victoria came out anyway, and yes, no cops like a cop killer.
Paula! (said with exasperation). After what happened with the chauffeur, you'd think she'd have learned her lesson about men she finds at the bufete. But no. Although I have to admit that I'm starting to root for George since there are so few men worth caring about. I'm hoping the Texas thing was legit and he owns the house. Who else could have bought it so fast, and since he's the one who got the first eviction notice, he might have pulled this off. Or Paula has made another gigantic mistake and she should just be celibate for a while.
Kelly
Tks Hombre
I got the feeling that Willy already called Inez. She seemed to know exactly what was up Vicente & the cell phone.
I'm feeling more & more that Humberto is not such a bad guy, except of course having 2 guys killed, killing one himself & leaving Santa in the woods. He pales next to Patricio though.
Deb - thank you so much for another excellent recap. So many quick twists and turns to follow this last week. What are the writers doing to us?
I'm having a hard time with Invisabel pulling the old trite paternity ruse with Pedro. He certainly doesn't deserve it, but I guess we saw her dishonest side when she faked Angel's background records.
The Iggy as blackmailed caretaker thread has moved way beyond belief. The woman is a self-made victim.
ED made his point by telling Tomas that he didn't need to read the contract - no one cheats him.
I'm hoping the new feet belong to Iggy's father and provide just the added push for Estela to go over the edge.
So much to be revealed in the next 2 days - I wonder how many loose ends we'll have.
Beth
Hey Beth–I'm also disgusted with Invisabel. And what's Ignacia going to do when she discovers Estela has pulled another fast one on her all these months?
I enjoyed this novela at the beginning because it seemed that something interesting happened in every episode. Then it slowed down and it took forever for Pegnacia to find out they were related. And the overnight transformations were dumb: Ruben believing Loopy got preggers on purpose to being his one true love; JM deciding Karina was his one true love and when she died, deciding, no, it's Ignacia. And Estela and Tomas trying to kill each other and then being buddies again.
I could have done without the whole car wash/strip club plot. And the Gina who wasn't Gina.
Sue - I didn't see the first few weeks of DyO (watching another TN), but Loonyvision's 7 p.m. programming (QBA and PEAM) were so blah I switched over to DyO. The Margina sisters' secret and the Nomas/Iggy marriage caught my attention. But the plot has dragged on, and on, until these last 2 weeks. Now the writers are throwing plot developments at us so fast that if you miss 10 minutes, you're stuck in a new storyline scratching your head. (Which is why I so appreciate our intrepid recappers keeping us up to date on the days developments!) These last 2 episodes will have to be fast moving to cover everything.
BTW, I love "Pegnacia".
Beth
Pasado: Marcela is still alive despite TC’s best efforts. Antonio used the blank check Gris gave him for books and bought a car instead. Because he’s a requetezonzo.
Today’s episode brought to you by the word “requetezonzo”. Zonzo = idiot; putting requite in front of a word is for extra emphasis. So I think requetezonzo would translate to total dumbass.
Fernando tried to go back and finish the job with Marcela but the nurse wouldn’t let him in. TC was at home telling Ro that her beloved husband is a little inconvenient sometimes and so is Ro. She needs to process this “tragedy” alone and she leaves. Ro, getting up from being on his knees, says he’s too old for his. I think he means getting on his knees but it could also apply to his relationship with TC. She goes to the hospital to get in to see Marcela after visiting hours by giving the nurse (nurse 1) some story about being from out of town. Despite the blond wig and big sunglasses, I’m sure the nurse could pick out that voice in a line-up. Marcela wakes up and does bug eyes when she realizes who it is. The nurses change shifts.
Meanwhile, Ro is talking to Reinaldo about TC having left and Ro is worried about her nerves. Her nerves are just fine as she hold a pillow over Marcela’s face. She runs in Fernando on the way out. While nurse number 2 notices that the machines are off in Marcela’s room, Fer is getting TC out of the hospital.
Gris apparently decided to keep the new car for now. Paty talks to her in private about the living situation and feels like she’s asking for too much from Griselda. She feels she should move back to La Posada and she hopes that Gris will accept Antonio back at the house (so she doesn’t have to see him except at school). But she’s ready to grow up and be responsible for herself. Gris isn’t sure she can accept Antonio back but she’ll think about it. Paty is studying psychology! Her mom would make a great research project.
Clara talks to Gabe about Antonio showing up with a car that Kike said Gris did NOT buy him and what’s up with that. Gabe calls Antonio a REQUETEZONZO. You got that right, Gabe.
At Gourmet Palmer, Vanessa gets a call from Juan Pablo and he asks her out for a drink. WHAT???
Paloma comes by to Gris’s shop to get a coffee with her and chat. Paloma asks about the Tony situation and wants to know what will really make Gris happy? Flash to Rei finding her glove in a drawer and smiling at some of the memories he has of her while the love theme plays. But Gris tells Paloma to not worry about her and worry about herself and her own happiness.
Gabe bring yet more tacos to Esther and shows her how to make his salsa since she admits to not knowing much about the kitchen.
JP and Vanessa (still, WHAT?) talking at a café. He wanted to talk to someone who doesn’t see him just as Esther’s husband and asks her to use tu with him. She says fine and tells him about her thing for mature men. This will get her off Rei’s back, but come on JP. You can do better than this kid. I know he and Simon are maybe about the same age and Simon and Paty are ok, but Vanessa is a brat.
Tony thinks he can get Paty back (requetezonzo), but Paty talks to her friends about being ready for a new start. And then Simon drives up in his motorcycle (is this new?) and offers to take Paty for a ride. A bike ride that is. My antenna fizzed out a little here but I think Antonio saw this. Good.
Fernando tries to cash in on what TC owes him. I missed a lot of this (maybe a helicopter was ruining the reception). Her phone rings and it’s Rei trying to get a hold of her. Fer wants to turn the phone off but she whines and won’t stop talking so he finally tells her he’s tired of her talking and just answer the phone already. Ha. She tells Rei that Marcela is dead and she starts to cry but must have realized this was a problem because then she says Marcy is dying…of hunger. Fer looks on with amazement. He still wants to get with her even though she says she’ll be a cold as anything. He’s ok with that. But it doesn’t work and she leaves. Poor Fernando. TC shows up at Gourmet Palmer to assure Rei that she’s fine (and maybe pick up food for Marcela?).
Meanwhile back at the hospital, nurses one and two are wheeling out Marcela’s corpse. Nurse one asks nurse 2 if she saw the rubia (the wig was blond) in the room and nurse 2 says no. Hmmm, think the nurses. But they actually follow up on this thought and check the security cameras and see the “blond” in the hall. Uh oh.
There was a scene at the old house but I don’t think it was too important. Barb wants money still and Elio wanted a woman. But Jose came home to Elio on the couch so I don’t think he got far. No one’s getting any tonight.
Kelly
part 1
*casa Cano
Barbara has just told Humberto about Amanda kissing Santiago,
Amanda wants to explain,
Humberto (his eyes on fire) says he's had a bad day,
and leaves,
Humberto goes to his home office and at last gets hold of Vicente,
(who has finally replaced his missing cell phone),
Humberto's world has crashed and he is desperately asking for help,
(Santa cracks open the door and listens)
Vicente says he thinks of him as his son,
Humberto brings up how Vicente helped him with Willy,
thanks to you he is just a bad memory,
(they have a long talk, Santa hears all)
*casa Ines
Ines is trying desperately to make her pregnancy real,
Santiago is trying to keep his clothes on and be nice about refusing,
he finally has to leave,
Ines slips out as well,
*casa Paula,
Paula has put a chill on their lovemaking for now,
but smooth George is still twanging at Paula's heart strings,
he dresses, gets ready to leave, gives her a peck on the cheek,
she brings him back for a real kiss,
hope to see you soon, she says,
*casa Cano
Santa runs to her mom,
tells her about Vicente's involvement with killing Willy,
they decide to meet with Paula,
as they leave the house, Santiago arrives,
follows them,
*warehouse
Transito accepts a new shipment of girls,
where is Carlos?
she explains, and Patricio is taking over,
(I didn't get Patricio's instructions to the girls, but Transito cringes)
*prison
Ivan is being checked in, gets his prison clothes,
(and we see he is the only one of the new prisoners that is cuffed),
at the showers he gets special attention,
hosed down, in the nude, with a high pressure hose,
he then gets to meet his cellmates,
he's the third person in a cell made for two,
*basement
Willy struggles till he gets Vicente's lost phone,
*casa Paula,
the venganza girls club meeting is in session,
they discuss the new developments, Paula drifts off thinking of George,
honorary member Santiago rings the door bell,
are you following me, Santa asks,
yes, I want to know if Barbara told Humberto about us,
can we talk, alone,
Santa shoos the girls away, but the house phone rings,
it's Willy, she's sure, she freaks, the line goes dead,
this can't be, EVERONE decides,
but Santa is still shaken,
the girls leave and Santa/Santiago continue their talk,
Santiago explains how his marriage is a sham, they have not slept together,
but he sees that even with Willy dead,
there is still not enough room in her heart for him,
he leaves,
Santa is still shaken.
part 2
*casa Vicente
no Pancho, no Ines,
so Vicente relaxes with a drink, rubbing the chain sores on his neck,
he remembers back to Willy,
[flashback- the warden calls him in, Willy was attacked, but he didn't die, Vicente goes to look in on him at the infirmary, later he pays the attendant to give him Willy and arrange to have an empty coffin buried, Humberto calls, Vicente tells him Willy is dead, as planned]
*basement
Ines arrives, and cuts Willy's phone call short, smashes the phone,
did you call the police?
she is relieved to hear he only called his spouse, so sweet, but on to our deal,
(shouldn't be too hard to seduce a guy that has been chained up for 2 years)
and it isn't, as she wriggles in between the chains,
*Hortensia's
Hortensia is standing guard over a sleeping Lisette with her future grandchild,
she sees shadows outside, calls Pancho,
the door bell rings, she trades her phone for a gun,
it's a black guy in a hoody, she shoots,
and misses,
Lisette is awakened, it turns out to be Lazaro,
*casa Victoria (or should we say casa Patricio's)
she slowly stirs her tea, Ulises comes down with his suitcase, he's leaving,
they hug, he plays up Patricio,
he adores you, give yourself a chance to be happy,
he no longer walks out the red front door than Patricio has his arms around Victoria,
at the end of the sidewalk Ulises laments, glad to be leaving this miserable town,
and all of the suffering here, caused by my brother Carlos,
*casa Cano
on the phone, Humberto is arranging with Vicente to take on the bank problem,
Barbara, jumps on him again about Amanda,
he brings up Willy,
how did we get from Amanda to Willy, Barbara demands to know,
*police station
Hortensia is talking to Pancho about last night,
Elisa, Lazaro, and Mara arrive to give there side,
(I'm not really getting all of this)
*casa Vicente
a letter arrives under the door, for Vicente,
Lucy picks it up,
holds it up to the light,
later Santiago and Vicente come downstairs,
Lucy hands Vicente the letter,
he also holds it up to the light,
moves off the open it,
"se que Humberto Cano es tu hijo!"
wow,
GREAT show tonight,
was it Sue that ordered the extra anvils,
wasn't enough,
the only one left standing without the knees shaking,
was Mireya.
Deb, thank you for the great recap.
Glad you asked about the whole scene at the police, because it really pissed me off. So, allow me to explain you what I thought about the whole Horty/ Lazaro mess ...
First, let me state that so far I've been sympathetic with Mara, her problems, the discrimination etc... not so much after tonight.
So Lazaro, who is a black guy, went to the house of a well known racist, at night because he wanted what? To explain to Horty the error of her judgment?? To vouch for Mara and her amazingness, her sexyness and whatnot?
Of course we didn't get to find out, because she opened the door and shot!
Sure, he knocked, but she was scared out of her mind, she had already called the police and EVERYBODY knows she is a racist. As far as I know US law says that you can kill people who trespass and Horty had all the reasons in the world to think she was being robbed. Lazaro's clothes didn't help much, either, I'm NOT a racist, but if I saw a black guy at my door, at night, with his head covered, I'd probably want to shot him, too.
Moving on...
Next day, at the police, Lazaro and Elisa decide to gang up on Hortensia because the woman was trying to defend herslef. I don't know what Mara was doing there, she was obviously uncomfortable with the whole situation.
If you want to make a complain, just go ahead and do that, but what is the point of that dramatic confrontation in front of the Chief of Police, no less?
Why do they still care about Horty and her family? Arturo is in the hospital, Mara is supposed to start a new life, why don't they just forget about the wole family and move on... it's not like they'll EVER make her change her mind about black people.
Sure, Horty deserves a lesson, but Lazaro's "visit" was out of place, uncalled for and very inappropriate.
And changing the subject a bit, did anyone else cringe when Ines started kissing Willy? I know Vicente had brought him some soap earlier in the day, but how was he supposed to wash himself with no water and whiel being chained??
After 2 years of no action, Willy probably impregnanted Ines with triplets (if it ever worked that way, I mean), but the whole scene was, oh, SO GROSS!
The big event of the night, Willy calling Santa, didn't even faze me... and I found the whole Santi/ Santa talk, with him repproaching her everlasting love for Willy, laughable.
How can I not root for Humberto when the alternative is so lame?
Last night's episode was so fast paced that if you blinked you'd be lost. Telenovela writers around the world would laugh at this one. In one episode, Ignacia's father shows up, threatens Estella he will tell Ignacia unless she pays up, tells Estella her time is up and smacks her, tells Ignacia he's her daddy! This would all take at fhe very least 2 weeks to happen in a standard novela. It felt more like a recap episode. What a sad way to end this after all the time we invested watchig it.
JM proposing to Ignacia and her accepting was totally ridiculous. They have zero chemistry and never shared a consensual kiss. I was hoping Tomas would follow through with his threat to kill JM. No such luck.
Josie
Thanks for the recap, Kelly, great job! ITA about JP and Vanessa, what?
I think we've seen Simon before in his motorcycle outfit. Maybe they're trying to make him seem younger, to make it okay for him and Paty. I'm not totally convinced. Tony did see Paty ride off on the moto, but didn't see who the guy was.
I loved TC in the blonde wig. I think she looks much better as a blonde, and in fact, has been a blonde in most of the previous shows I saw her in. I was so looking forward to her giving in to Fernando's wishes, but she cleverly maneuvered her way out of it.
Yes, the nurse can identity TC. For that reason, I think the nurse will have a very short life span.
Great recap, Deb, thank you very much!
I agree with Adriana that it seemed like a strange trap for Lazaro to appear at night with that hoodie, and now Pancho wants to know if they'll press charges against Horti.
Here's what Patricio said to the new girls. If you try to escape, or open your mouth to anybody, not only will I kill YOU, but I'll kill your whole family! And now, I'm going to initiate each and every one of you. Yes, you all have to have sex with me first, to see if you're worthy.
What a guy.
In real life, what are the chances that Ines gets pregnant on this one time? But this being a novela, no prob.
Since money got Ivan put into jail, maybe money will have to get him out. Unfortunately, Bert and Vicente seem to be out of dough. Horti has some, but would she back Lisette enough to get Lisette's boy out? Or maybe I'm wrong, and somehow, way down the line, Pancho or Lucy will figure out stuff about Patricio.
Thank you for the great recap, Kelly!
We've seen Simon with his moto outfit before.
Just like Hombre, I'm not yet sure about Pati and Simon, even if I did wait for them to happen.
As for JP and Vanesa... nooo, she's just to insufferable.
And I don't like Esther with Gabe too much, either. They just don't click for me.
The whole scene between TC and Fernando was hilarious, the music, the way they played their parts...
Maybe TC does end up sleeping with him, so that when Rei and Gris finally DO something (and please, let it be SOON!), he won't be a cheater/ or the one who cheated first.
Amazing! Months of listening to Marge and Gina whine at each other about whether to tell Pedro, whether to not tell Pedro, and then last night - WOW! DyO had more action last night than all the other TNs combined. And this episode the fathers ruled the evening.
New daddy Ruben appeared at the hospital right on cue.
Pedro found out he's not going to be a father.
Izzy put JM on notice that he's having a hijo.
Tomas' father came to life!
Iggy's father stole the show.
Petra redeemed herself with her straight talk to Izzy about deceiving Pedro and then going right to him to let him off the hook.
Prudencio will be the perfect business partner for our little squirrel.
Too bad this TN hasn't been more evenly paced.
Beth
Adriana, thanks for helping me out with the Hortensia suspense, maybe I'm just blocking this all out, Hortensia does quite well on her own being a miserable person with out a group of people ganging up on her to point that out.
and thanks Hombre for helping me out with Patricio, I didn't get the part where he was going to test drive the merchandise, his sweet intimate moments are sure to take the sparkle out of anyone's eyes, no wonder Transito cringed.
Tks deb
The whole Hortensia/Lazaro thing was just dumb. He shouldn't have gone at night & for a stupid reason. She called the police, why did she open the door?
¡Hola! I'm chomping at the bit to recap last night's episode but I'm at my mom's right now and when I get home my brother is coming over to see if he can fix my email. I hope to get it posted before the Gran Final.
Thanks for the fine recaps, Sue. Yep, last night's events were enough to give a viewer whiplash. I gave a groan you could have heard on the East Coast when Isabel came up with the oldest trick in the book: trap the drunk-on-his-ass galán into thinking he's the baby daddy.
It looks like Tomás is going off the deep end tonight. And, I agree, that Petra totally redeemed herself at the very end, telling Pedro the truth.
When I got back from vacation they'd already launched into the ridiculeces: JM deciding he was in love with Iggy and turning into an annoying twit; Gema deciding to be a pole dancer, etc.
Sadly, I missed Iggy and Rubén finding out Estela played them with the brain tumor trick.
In my case the adage about it taking two work days to make up for each vacation day was certainly true. It's taken me a long time to get my head above water. And I've missed my Caray buddies!
This WAS my favorite novela, but the bloom is somewhat off the rose for me.
I normally like Miguel Varoni, but his Rip Van Winkle appearance and that silly whistling theme are getting on my nerves.
Antonio using that check for the car was beyond stupid. When she called the bank, I thought it was to stop payment, which she could have done. But no, she ends up with the car which surely he'll get in the end.
And I'm so over Rosario. At the beginning I thought he was just sucking up to La Diosa del Nilo to keep his job. Now they've got him as a hysteric who really cares about the witch. I'm pretty much over Teresa Cristina as well. Of course, we always despised her. But that squealing voice, mincing walk and scene after scene of her humiliating people has got on my last nerve.
So what still interests me? Bárbara and Máximo. I'm buying that she wants custody of her son and that Max might help her. [not that I think she SHOULD get custody; I'm just interested in her character development.] I hope Esther ends up with Gabriel and I'm sort of into that story. It's clear what a great father he would be for the coming child. And JP is a complete ass.
Like commenters on other blogs, I'm thinking: When in the world is something going to happen with Griselda and Reinaldo.
Oh, and I like Juan Soler and Sonya Smith in each and every scene they're in. They totally inhabit their roles?
I just read this week's comments so have some idea of what's going on.
I guess I picked the wrong one to give up on since it seems to be getting the most "action" here.
But, thanks to the rest of you, I can keep up without actually spending an hour with those distasteful people!
I cannot take Griselda letting Antonio live in her house, and him being such an insufferable pain in response. His character has not shown the slightest sign of personal growth in 69 episodes so far, and I'm going to be hugely irritated when he has the happy ending I suspect lies in wait for him.
The only thing I can say about Vanessa with JP is that it's not as bad as Marcela with JP. I think Clara would have made a much better rebound for JP. (And that would have created some awkward moments at Tacos Bar.)
I don't know where Gabe and Ester are going, but their scenes are very watchable and Gabe is looking more and more attractive.
I have trouble watching any Barbie scenes. I find what the actress has done to her body to be so perverse, and so objectifying, and so.... Words fail me. She looks like a cartoon character, and yet this isn't make-up or costuming--it's her actual body.
Deb, you did it again - a wonderful recap, and I really like the way you identify the location of each scene.
I'm feeling a bit sympathetic to Humberto (I know, he's a murderous shyster). The venganza girls and George have really knocked him off his game, and losing Ivan's case is a serious, personal blow.
George killed Gaspar, stole money from Gaspar, stole Barbara's jewels and has done God knows what else. It seems Paula is attracted to bad boys.
Stalkiago's following Santa - again. I guess he can't use a cell phone? At least this time he was gone long enough for Ines to do her thing.
And Ines' thing was repulsive.
Adriana - I so agree with you about the Horti/Lazaro set up. It looked to me like something Elisa and Lazaro planned. He had told Mara that he could do rehab with Arturo, so it makes sense that he'd offer his services to Lisette. But going to a well-known racist's home in a black hoody with face covered after dark is very ill-advised for anyone. Of course Horti was so panicked, she became hysterical and almost killed Lazaro. What also disturbed me was that Pancho did nothing to calm the situation down.
The Patricio/Carlos/Victoria storyline is just so disgusting I can only hope that Pat's eventual downfall involves severe suffering.
I hope Vicente still has his connection in the pen. I fear for Ivan's life. Horti gave Lisette a fat check when she got pg, so there should be money available to arrange a "transfer".

Hey Novelera! Welcome back! I hope you had a fabulous trip. Maybe when you have time, you'll tell us a little about it.
P.S. I happen to love Santa though I rarely comment on it because I'm usually a day or two behind and hate to read ahead.
I think I forgot about the part where Gris goes back to La Posada to see if Antonio wants to move back. At first, he's all noooo I don't think so, but when Gris says fine, Tony changes his mind. Gris glares a little. She knows he's playing the situation but she still lets him get away with it. I hope she makes him live about the garage and walk to school.
SANTA
I changed my mind about Paula and George. I like them together. When she shut him down, he was ok with it, gave her a nice goodbye kiss, and still wants to see her. Way better reaction that she would have gotten from the other guy. And George is a bit of a louse, but not so much compared to others here. Paula may be just what he needs after years with Barbara. And Paula would certainly be better for Daniela than Barb.
I'm almost done with Victoria though. She had a chance to get her brothers help and tell him about the attempted rape and blackmail by Pat, but nope. Anyone else think Ulises might actually have a boyfriend back in NY, and that's why Carlos had issues with him and he had to leave Marrero?
Kelly
NovelaMaven, I'm usually a few days behind, too. For me Saturdays are great for binge watching.
This show is so twisty, it would be a pity to read the comments before you actually see it, so whenever I don't get the chance to watch in time, when I am finally up to date, I just write a long rant and get it out of my system.
Ignacia tells Tomás that she's free to marry whomever she wants and in this case it's JM. Tomás accuses her of using JM to forget Pedro which isn't too far from the truth. He then plays the Estela card. Ignacia admits that her mother still needs care but it doesn't have to be in his home. She and JM leave and Tomás remarks that JM has signed his death warrant.
Pedro is packing for his trip to LA and he tells Isabel she doesn't have to go with him. He is a man of his word and he will return to her and take responsibility for the baby. And he doesn't think it's wise for her to travel in her condition. "I'm pregnant, not sick." She thinks he doesn't want his family to know about the baby. He says that isn't the case. He agrees to take her and she goes to change. Pedro has the "What Have I Gotten Myself Into?" look on his face.
Loopy is in labor and I'm sure all of LA can hear her.
Gema finishes her show and runs into Angel who is definitely sober. He tells her he has been looking all over for her. He has stayed away because he found out that the nastiest criminal around, El Duro, is his father. He tells her how ED and his thugs showed up outside his house and ED held a gun to his head. His mother ran out and pleaded with Emilio to spare his son. Then she told him that ED had abandoned the family before he was born. Gema comments that she knows an Emilio Jimenez but it has nothing to do with this because he's a businessman. Angel tells her that's he's his father and the worst criminal in all of LA. Gema panics when she sees Gerardo come in. He informs Lorenzo that they have new leads in the murder of Barbara Camacho. "Looks like it was El Duro." Gema asks Angel to get her out of there so that Gerardo won't see her.
Estela is looking at mysterious pictures of her with her face crossed out. Abuela calls her to inform her that her granddaughter is about to be born. "¿Hija de la naca?" It's clear Estela doesn't want a relationship. She'll meet Abuela at the hospital. As she's getting ready to leave Tomás informs her that Ignacia is going to marry JM. He wants her to convince Ignacia to break it off with him. If she doesn't, he will put her in a psych ward where she will rot for the rest of her days.
Ignacia wants to meet the new investor. She tells JM she does't want any more bitter surprises. He thinks she's talking about their impending marriage. She assures him she's not but she doesn't want to be pressured. The phone rings. It's Reuben calling to tell her her niece is going to be born. They leave for the hospital.
Loopy arrives at the hospital with Marge, Gina and Prudencio. Reuben and Mariano arrive soon after. Reuben is going to be in the delivery room with her. Marge gives her God's blessing and they wheel her away. Prudencio tells Marge that he left a message for Neto. They go to the waiting room and Mariano and Gina make goo-goo eyes at each other.
OK, why does Mireya put her mail so high up? Even if she could walk-it's just inconvenient to put it there. She takes the mail down from its perch and says she hasn't heard anything about Pedro in six months. Neto barges in to tell Prudencio he got the message and discovers Mireya standing up. "You can walk!" "Let me explain…" "How could you? How could you deceive everyone who loves you? Is this why Olegario left?" "Yes! I've been pretending for a long time. I'm a monster! I did it for love." "Love? This isn't love. It's an obsession." "You don't know anything about love!" "Of course I do because I've always been in love with you!" He leaves for the hospital and she asks him not to say anything. After all, she wouldn't want to ruin such a joyous occasion. I've got an anvil with your name on it!
Tomás goes to the strip club and informs Zafiro that he has paid very handsomely to take her home with him. She is in full Ignacia mode.
Estela is leaving for the hospital. And who should she see in the living room but Enrique, Ignacia's biological father.
The birthing scene. I'm shaking my head. They went for the comic touch as Loopy yells at Reuben, "¡Me matas!" ("You're killing me!") She also yells at him to shut up. And then the baby is born. Margarita. Evidently Margarita was dunked in a bath we couldn't see because there was no trace of blood on her when the nurse handed her to Reuben.
Gina tells Mariano that they can't be together as long as their son is unhappy. Mariano thinks everyone deserves a second chance. Ignacia and JM arrive but there is no news. Marge also asks. And then, in walks Pedro with a very pregnant Isabel. "This is Isabel and we're going to have a baby." No introduction needed for JM and Ignacia. Pedro tells them that he knew about Loopy because he and Loopy have been in touch during the six months he was gone. He asked her not to say anything and he will leave once everything is settled. The nurse informs the family that the child has been born.
Estela warns Enrique not to come near her or she'll yell. Like that's going to make a difference. He know she's alone because he's been spying on her for days. He accuses her of ruining his life and decides to try a spot of blackmail. "Pay me a lot of money or I will go to Ignacia and tell her I'm her real father." Estela says she doesn't have any money and when points out the mansion she's living in she admits that it belongs to her son-in-law. "Oh yeah, that clown, I've seen him too. Ask him for the money."
Everyone greets the new baby. Loopy doesn't look tired at all. All in a day's work I guess. In the hall Pedro asks Ignacia how long she's been with JM. Ignacia asks Pedro if he was with Isabel before they learned the truth. Isabel is very stand-offish with JM who questions why she calls him "usted." He has a flashback to their dinner and he asks her if she brought him home that night. Suddenly Isabel doesn't feel well and leaves.
(I must tell you that when I had the captions on last night the doorbell ringing at Mariano's was rendered this way: "Timbre de la puta.")
Estela tries to shake down Abuela for some money but she refuses when Estela won't say what it's for. Estela tells her that her disgrace will be all her fault.
Tomás arrives home with "Zignacia." He says that she is going to be his even if she doesn't want it. "Don't treat me that away." "I'll treat you any way I like." He backhands her across the face. "¡Hasta nunca, Tomás." She leaves and he reaches for a book. It's a false book and inside is a pistol. He thinks, "You're not going to leave me Ignacia."
Although Neto is disgusted with Mireya, there he is wheeling her down the hall at the hospital. She is surprised to see Pedro and really surprised to see Isabel. "Who's she?" "Her name is Isabel and we're going to have a baby." She introduces herself. "I'm his ex and did he ever tell you how I became an invalid?" A nurse comes out and asks for Pedro and Ignacia. Pedro says that when Ignacia was holding the baby it made him think… She wants everything to stay in the past.
Next morning Pedro asks Prudencio to go into business with him. He has decided to stay, that is, if Isabel wants to. Marge overhears and is walking on air. Gina asks him if he loves Isabel. He says that's not important; what is important is the baby. "I'm not sure I can love again because I haven't been able to get Ignacia out of my heart."
Ignacia informs Tomás that she's leaving and she's taking Estela with her. Tomás tries the emotional blackmail thing but this time Ignacia's mind is made up. She packs her luggage and starts the car. The car's computer is warning her someone is nearby. Enrique?
Isabel stops by her mom's house and speaks with Gema. She tells Gema that JM is remembering more of the night they were together but she doesn't want him to remember because she lied and told Pedro Perez that he's the father. "But that isn't true." Petra overhears. "I didn't bring you up to do something like this. How can you do this to that poor guy?" Isabel counters that Petra hid the truth about her father. "I did it for your protection." Gema agrees. "I know Emilio Jimenez and he is the worst kind of criminal." Isabel can't believe she's the daughter of a criminal. Angel comes home and confirms this. Petra is thrilled to see him. Isabel wants to meet her father; no one advises this. Petra is horrified that Isabel is deceiving two good men. "But JM rejected me!" "That doesn't give you the right to deceive Pedro." Petra grabs her purse and heads out the door.
Lorenzo warns ED that the police are on his trail. ED scoffs, "The cop hasn't been born who can catch me." Tomás walks in and asks for ED's help. ED doesn't want to be bothered with partners who are always asking him for favors. He decides to terminate the partnership.
Estela calls Tomás to ask for money. She has to explain about Enrique. He tells her the only way to keep him quiet is kill him. And then he hangs up. "¡Estúpida!"
Isabel goes to JM's apartment and does the right thing. She explains to him that the night she brought him home he was very drunk and they had sex. "I'm expecting your child."
Enrique demands money from Estela and she tells him she doesn't have it. They struggle, he slaps her and walks out.
Tomás comments to his father that he has lost everything: Ignacia and his business. Ernesto laughs and says, "Ah Tomás, you always were and will always be a good-for-nothing. All this time I've listened to your stupidity. You can't be my son. You don't have my genes. You're an idiot." Tomás pulls out his gun and aims it at his head.
Neto and Mireya argue about telling Pedro the truth. He pulls her up from the chair. Prudencio comes into the room and sees her standing. "Mireya? You can walk?"
Ignacia is alone in her site office. Enrique walks in and tells her he is her real father. Cara impactada de Ignacia. On to the Gran Final.
Sue, Sue, Sue--you have outdone yourself in crafting a recap so full of details that it's like watching the episode again.
Thank you!!!
I wondered, when first Neto and later Prudencio saw Mireya standing, why she didn't just pretend that she had spontaneously recovered the use of her legs right then. Sigh. I guess novelas and logic will never be close friends.
On to the finale!
J in Oregon
Thanks for the recap, Sue!
I kind of wish this had been the pace all along! (Thank the LORD the Loopy Labor scene was done in a flash... with the cleanest (sans umbilical cord) newborn this side of Cuidado Con El Angel (at least Lupita didn't give birth in her jeans).
Ay, ay, ay, Invizzy. At least she came clean at the end thanks to some unexpected wisdom from Petra. I bet Jose "I-Fall-In-Love-Every-72-Seconds" Manuel will be madly in love with her 15 minutes into the Finale (he'll need the other 30 minutes to repair the damage of the jackass comments she overheard comparing her to the educated goddess Ignacia). (I know some of you have already seen the finale as I write this... I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning :( ).
I'm really curious to see what the writers are going to do with Mireya... last minute redemption or alone and bitter forever? I'm guessing redemption so Neto can wind up with somebody...
Can't wait!

It's here! Let the anvils fall where they may!
Enrique spills the beans to Ignacia but she doesn't believe him. "Go ahead. Ask your mother. Let's see if she has the courage to admit it." He says he wants her to know the truth. Also it's his revenge on Estela because she paid him off before Ignacia was born. She was too ashamed of her child's parentage. Enrique has the nerve to ask for money. She tells him to get out and then reconsiders: "If what you're saying is true…prove it."
Petra spills the beans to Pedro who does believe her. "Who's the daddy? Do I know him?" "It's her former boss, Juan Manuel Correal. I felt you should know."
Isabel spills the beans to JM. "Does Pedro know?" "Not yet but I'm going to tell him." "Why did you lie to me?" "Because I overheard you and Gerardo talking and you said I wasn't good enough for you. You made me feel like the most insignificant woman on Earth." "But they were just words." "But they hurt and I've tried to forget them all this time and I can't. Pedro doesn't deserve to be deceived and you had to know the truth." She leaves.
Neto says that last night Mireya confessed that she has been able to walk for a long time. Prudencio is furious that she has deceived everyone for so long. Neto explains that it's why Olegario left–because he couldn't stand the pain of a daughter who would betray him. Mireya says she did it to keep Pedro at her side. Prudencio tells her the time has come to confess to everyone. "What you did…no tiene nombre." ("It has no name" i.e. it's really, really bad. It's a common novela phrase like "no puede ser" which we will hear several times tonight.)
Pedro talks about what he was going to do for the child and now to find out it isn't even his. "What she did…no tiene nombre." (There's that phrase again.) Petra tries to excuse Isabel by saying that she's young and naive. "She saw an opportunity…" "Opportunity? She can't be forgiven for this." Petra walks away. Loopy and Reuben come home with the baby. Loopy starts yammering about how they will all be together. Pedro lowers the boom. "I just found out the baby isn't mine."
Evil Nurse and a supervisor go into Ernesto's room. The supervisor sees blood on the floor and discovers Ernesto with a gunshot wound to the head. She orders Evil Nurse to call the police. She goes out into the hall and calls Tomás. "How could you?" "I don't pay you to judge me. I was provoked and I had no other recourse. Get rid of the body. I'll pay extra." "Too late. A supervisor discovered the body. What do you want me to do? The police are on their way." "You better come up with something. If I go down, you're going down with me."
Enrique returns to Tomás' house and again tries to get money out of Estela by threatening to tell Ignacia he is her father. Estela says she needs more time to get the money. Ignacia walks in. It was a trap and now she has all the proof she needs.
Pedro tells the family that the baby Isabel is carrying isn't his. Isabel knows the father is JM. He decides to go back to San Francisco because he had had it with all the lies and deception. "The woman I loved more than anything turned out to be my sister. My mother is really my aunt and the one I thought was my aunt turned out to be my biological mother. And I'm disillusioned about this baby." Marge pleads with him to stay. "Sure we've made a lot of mistakes but we do love each other." Prudencio knocks at the door. "Mireya has something to tell you." And she walks into Marge's apartment. Caras impactadas all around.
At first everyone thinks that it's a miracle that Mireya is now walking but Prudencio sets them straight. Pedro asks her how long she has been walking. "I just started a little while ago but I didn't want to say anything until I was sure." (Recall that she used that line on Olegario.) Prudencio tells them that's a lie too. "She pretended to be an invalid so that she could keep Pedro by her side, out of pity." Marge faints. Mireya asks for forgiveness and runs out of the apartment. Not only can she walk, she can also run.
Ignacia tells off Estela: "You're the worst mother. You preferred to keep your mouth shut. You made me think I fell in love with my own brother when you knew all the time it wasn't true. I'll never forgive you." She leaves. Estela tells Enrique that it's all his fault. They struggle and he shoves her to the floor. "I didn't get any money but I'm not leaving empty-handed." He starts collecting valuables from the house.
At the police station the detective says they've arrested one of the men involved in the rape and murder of Barbie. This suspect admitted that ED is the head of a crime organization. He shows Gerardo slides of ED. He recognizes him as the business partner of Tomás Villamayor. They issue a warrant for his arrest.
Petra returns home and tells Isabel that she told Pedro the truth. "Isn't it a little late to care what I do? How do you expect me to feel?" She plays the sibling rivalry card. "You always favored Angel over me. Nothing I did could please you." Petra says that isn't true. "I let the fact that your father abandoned me fill me with bitterness." "Well I don't want the same for my child." By the way I told JM that he's the father. Satisfied?" She tells Petra she's going away because she needs time to think. "I'm going to live with my father." Yup, they make orange jumpsuits in maternity sizes.
Enrique returns to living room with a trash bag full of booty. Next he turns his eye to Estela. He tries to kiss her but she pushes him away. He grabs her, rips her blouse in the process, and throws her down on the sofa. She reaches for a candlestick and whomps him on the head. He falls to the floor. If he lives she can plead self defense. No, there's a lot of blood so he's not going to live. Tomás comes in and wants to know who the guy is on the floor. She tells him it's Ignacia's father Enrique and he told Ignacia the truth. "She knows she and el naco are not brother and sister?"He goes to leave and Estela whines, "Please don't leave me alone."
The extended Perez family is mulling over the revelation that Mireya can walk. Pedro plans to leave again but will come to visit when he can. And in comes Ignacia with another revelation. She tells Pedro, with a big smile on her face, that they aren't brother and sister after all. She tells how Enrique came to see her and then she heard it from Estela. "All I can think about is that we aren't brother and sixte. We can be together."
Estela is crying when who should appear but the ghost of Enrique joined by the ghost of Karina. They taunt her: "Murderer! Murderer!"
Gema and Angel are at the club. She tells Lorenzo that she's quitting. Angel is there to make sure she gets the money Lorenzo owes her. ED and a couple thugs come in. "Gema? You left me without saying anything!" "So you could stay with your family!" He goes to grab her but Angel stops him. "Don't you touch her!" At that point the police burst in. "Emilio Jimenez, you're under arrest for murder in the second degree of Barbara Camacho." I'm assuming he was read his Miranda rights.
Pedro and Ignacia are outside on the bench celebrating their lack of blood ties with a kiss. Mireya walks up. "Gross! How can the two of you sit there kissing like that when you know you're siblings?" Ignacia is surprised to see Mireya walking around. Pedro fills her in. Ignacia asks how she could want a relationship based on pity. Mireya starts yelling at her. Pedro tells her, "Jeez Mireya, have some dignity." "How can you be with her when you're having a baby with another woman?" Pedro informs her that Isabel's baby isn't really his so there are no obstacles to their being together. The three of them continue to argue and no one notices Tomás pulling up alongside the curb. He rises up from his seat with his trusty pistol and fires. The extended Perez family comes out and all is chaos. Neto calls for an ambulance. Ignacia is the one who has been shot.
Mariano comments to Abuela that he's proud that Reuben is assuming his role as a father. His cell rings. "What! I'll be there as soon as I can.!" He tells Abuela that Tomás shot Ignacia. OK how did they know it was Tomás? I guess there was another witness who saw him or his license plate?
At the hospital Marge tries to comfort Pedro. He blames himself. The doctor comes out and informs them that he was able to remove the bullet. "The next few hours are critical but it looks like she will pull through." Sighs of relief all around.
Next we see Ernesto being zipped into a body bag. The supervisor explains to the detective that he was a patient who came from a wealthy family. "Elena took care of him." Evil Nurse tells him she didn't notice anything unusual today. "He didn't have any visitors." Of course, that makes her a suspect and he tells her that she needs to be questioned down at the station. She reconsiders and decides to throw Tomás under the bus. "Wait! I know who killed him."
Gerardo is on his way to arrest Tomás. In order to remember that DYO is sponsored by Toyota we see a few scenes of his car's gadgets.
Tomás comes home and finds Estela on the floor with her hands over her ears. She talks in gibberish about how she had to kill them…"They're bad!!!" Tomás says he's getting out of this hell and goes upstairs to pack. Estela, there's an opening at the local manicomio.
The extended family decides to go home. Mariano tries to comfort Pedro but he walks away. Abuela tells him to give him time. He's afraid that Pedro is still in love with his sister. Gina informs him that they are not siblings and tells him how Estela cheated on him with the foreman of the hacienda. Mariano's reaction? "¡No puede ser!"
Tomás comes down and tells Estela he's not finished with her yet. He goes out to his car when the police arrive. There is a shootout and Tomás is hit. Did anyone else notice the white car in the background that stopped to watch and then pulled away? Anyway Tomás is placed under arrest for the murder of Ernesto Villamayor and the attempted murder of Ignacia Santamaría.
Gerardo goes to the hospital and informs Reuben that Estela is a suspect in the murder of Enrique Molina. "She has withdrawn from reality and has been transferred to a psychiatric hospital." He also informs the rest of them that Tomás is the one who shot Ignacia. Pedro is allowed to see her although she is still unconscious. Corny sob scene ensues. Pedro forbids her to die and says she's going to be the wife of Pedro Perez. Ignacia moves her finger. I wonder if the actors think this is dreck like I do.
It's six months later…
Ignacia visits Estela at the mental hospital. She can't speak and just stares ahead. Ignacia tells her that she was on the brink of dying but God gave her another chance. So she decided to forgive Estela. "I'm going to marry Pedro. But I'm always here for you. I love you."
Don Pedro and his two mothers: It's the wedding day and Marge and Gina give Pedro the blessing. They go to get ready and there's a knock at the door. It's Mireya. At first it looks like she's going to scream about the wedding but no, she came to ask for Pedro's forgiveness. She is sincere when she says she only wants the best for him. They embrace.
The car arrives and Mariano and Ignacia emerge. Mireya approaches them; she would like to speak with Ignacia. Mariano says it's not the best time but Ignacia says, "Papá go on ahead." I wish she wouldn't call him Papá. It's just creepy considering who she's marrying. Mireya asks for forgiveness. Ignacia tells her she doesn't hold any grudges. She encourages her to go find her happiness.
We hear Ignacia's voice narrating over a montage of scenes and events: the wedding; the engagement of Prudencio and Marge and Neto and Mireya; Mariano and Gina having some fun at his apartment; Daddy Reuben, Loopy and Margarita living at Marge's; Abuela reading to Estela at the mental hospital; Isabel and her baby at the park with JM; Benjamin, Gerardo and Gema in a hospital room after Gerardo donated his kidney; ED in orange ordering everyone to beat up Tomás, also in orange.
FF in time and we see Pegnacia greeting two children in the courtyard of a large mansion. Abuela is also there. The adorable little boy is wearing a construction helmet! Ignacia muses about eternal love.
THE END
Thanks for another super recap, Deb!
I think the nurse's name is Petra or Pedra.
That was some bizarre goose chase they led Vicente on. But I loved the end when he screamed at his own reflection!
George said that HE's now going to sleep in the master bedroom, instead of Fran. So that means that Santa's camera will focus on HIM.
Paula is an idiot going with George. Yes, she doesn't know it, but we know George killed Gaspar, forged that check, stole the jewels. I'm enjoying his new power over the Cano's, but he really is a slimeball.
It was funny that Barb thought she'd get half of George's new money. He reminded her that they both signed a prenup. The intention was that George couldn't get Barb's money. But now she can't get HIS!
That scene where TC and Jose both sort of got turned on by each other, just looking at each other, was hilarious!
Hombre, I was just about to post the same thing about Jose and TC - they were very funny. The actors have a long history working together, it was obvious how much they enjoyed playing something so different.
For once we've seen TC, who is always so frigid, actually be turned on by something other than money or murder... and the fact that it's that pile of scratchy scratchy fleas was hilarious. When he was trying to fix his hair before the meet, in front of Manuel, I laughed out loud.
Novelera, I haven't seen you around for a while.
I have to disagree with you about Jose, I really like the comedy he brings to the show. Until now I've only seen Miguel Varoni as the smoldering hero or, more often, the sneaky villain, watching him in this part is quite a treat for me. The other day when he was telling Elio that a man as handsome as he should be a galan in telenovelas, was especially funny for me.
I do agree with you about all the other things you said, especially about Antonio - getting him to live in the big house looks more like a reward than a punishment to me - if Pati wants to be independent, how about she starts by confronting Antonio wherever it is that they have to meet - she'll still see him at school, anyway.
And DITTO for Ro, at the beginning I found him entertaining, now he is just very annoying!
And YES, when are Reinaldo and Griselda ever going to start doing mushy mushy stuff? Even Simon is getting his groove on...
Finale! Thank you so much Sue for the Gran Recap! Thanks also again to AnotherAmy, and all commenters who have expanded my understanding and enjoyment of this show.
The most emotional part of the finale for me was Iggy reaching out and forgiving Mireya.
Okay, comments and loose ends:
Why did Tomas give up wearing his pink jackets? Of course he now is stuck with orange...and it looked like El Duro was in charge inside the prison walls and was instructing all those other boys to "welcome" Tomas. :o(
Does Gema still own the carwash?
What about Olegario's comment about "when he worked for the father of Don Tomas"?
Nobody ever got the final big dose of sedante Tomas got from Nurse Ratchet.
How come nobody in the asylum heard the shot when Tomas shot his father?
What happened to the Angel-Lupita storyline?
Guess there's so much on the cutting room floor that we'll never know.mutro 76
I thought the writers did a bang up job of tying (almost) everything together.

Tks mucho deb
I really don't know why Vicente being Humberto's dad is such a big deal, Gaspar is dead. He is a slimeball, would bethe main reason.
Is Vicente looking at Dorian Gray?
Loved George's reaction when Fran tried to hug him, 2 faced bitch. This is going to be very interesting.
No lack of suspense in this one, listen up Mejia.
What I like about Humberto, despite his being a lying murderer, is how he just accept the reality of a situation and rolls with it. The papers are all in order and they have to move out of the house. Done. He may be thinking about how to get even with George but in the meantime, no whining or crying. Man up, Santi.
I had a dream last night about Willy finally escaping. I don't think Ines had a part of it in my dream and she probably won't in real (novela) life. She needs to go to jail. Or the manicomio.

Terrific recap Sue, thank you so much!
I've really enjoyed these last two shows, things were really popping,
Kelly, I agree about Humberto. The other night when Babs was telling him about SyS kissing, loved the way he just turned & looked at Santa. He did hit Santa once, but he is usually one cool guy. I think he has sth up his sleeve. Terrific villain, in this TN of mainly villains. He has ice water in his veins.
Patricio is in La Madame, playing another vile character. I watched the trailer, too manys TN's on my schedule.
I keep seeing La reina del sur ads, pronto. I missed that one, so hope it is at a convenient time.
For Adrianna Noel:
In the fall of 2006 Telemundo had a weekly comedy series... Seguro y Urgente starring none other then Miguel Varoni. It had 20+ half hour episodes of silly comedy with Miguel vamping as a "cartero". All the episodes are on Dailymotion.

breanna
Seems they further chopped the finale. What happened to the scene where pedro starts beating up on tomas shown in the finale promo?
Though they ruined this novela, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Pedro and Ignacia togther. Their romantic scenes were so believable. Ana, especially, is such a great actress. She should be in movies.
Thanks recappers for all your time and efforts! Especially loved the humor.
Josie
Sue - thank you so much for a wonderful final recap. You outdid yourself with details, descriptions and dialogue. This finale was so involved with many (most!) of the pieces of the plot coming together in the last hour, and you did a fantastic job presenting it to us.
I thought Ignacia looked beautiful for her wedding. Her dress, hair and make-up were lovely, and Ana did a wonderful job as the radiant, happy bride.
J in O, you identified some of the loose ends I was wondering about. Also, we never found out anything about Loopy's father or whether Candy really died (I thinK she did, but did we ever see them find her body?)
I did not notice the white car in the background that stopped to watch Tomas' and Gerard's shoot out. Anyone we know?
The last 2 nights of the show were fabulous - there was so much going on that I didn't dare leave the room for fear I'd miss a big reveal.
Thank you again, Sue and Amy, for taking the time out of your busy lives to recap DyO for us. You really helped me understand those parts of the show where I didn't get the vocabulary.
Beth
Well I've watched Thursday's episode but Friday's hasn't been posted to On Demand yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
Ew...JP and Vanesa?
Yes, Beth, they found Candy's body in a field but that was the last we heard of her.
A loose end from last night: Invisibel said she would go live with her father. But we don't know if she actually met ED.
Another loose end: In Thurs' episode we see Angel drinking out of a paper bag. In the next episode he is sober. When did he straighten out enough to confront his father?
Beth, Sue: they found Barbie's body in the park last week after she got sent to the thug's "bachelor party". Months ago the police found some of Candy's belongings after she was kidnapped but I never saw her body. Of course I could have missed it during one of my frequent refrigerator breaks. :o)
Beth, thanks for mentioning the other loose end---we never did learn who Loopita's father was, sort of odd when you remember that the whole story centered around missing fathers, both good and bad.
Sue I agree that they short-changed Angel at the end, after spending so much time developing his character.
Anybody know what's going to be on this coming Monday night at 8:00PM? Or is it a surprise?
:o)
J in Oregon
J in O - According to Dish menu here in Denver, this coming Monday the DyO spot will be taken up by Marido for new 2 hour Marido episodes. We keep seeing ads for La Reina but I don't know if that's in our 7 or 8 p.m. time slot (mountain time). And I have no info on what other TN would be starting after Marido.
I remember the same sequence of events around Candy's disappearance. ED wasn't charged in Candy's death, just in Barbie's murder. I remember Barbie's body being found by joggers, but I miss a lot and hadn't seen anyone find Candy's body.
Loopy's father was never mentioned (that I recall), and you'd think that once Pedro's real parentage was known, someone, like Loopy, would have said, "Gee, Marge, when did you get married, and who was the lucky guy?" I had thought that Prudencio's arrival would bring up Marge's husband and Loopy's father, but not so.
Sue - you're so right about Izzy and ED. When she made the statement about living with her father, I thought, when did she even meet him (and his lovely family)?
Beth
I guess the reason why Vicente is desperate not to have Huberto find out that Vicente is his father, is that how could Humberto ever trust him again? Except that Humberto already mistrusts him, since Vicente had his affair with Fran for all these years. So yes, it doesn't really seem that dire. But Vicente thinks it is, and Santa thinks it is, so we're going with it!
It also may mean that only Barbara and Santiago inherit Gaspar's fortune. Except that Gaspar didn't have a fortune, whoops!
It does sort of create a dichotomy between the real Cano's, who are whiny (Fran, Santiago and Barb), and the Vicente crew, who are cool and devious (Vicente, Ines, and Humberto). But what about Pancho, who's so reasonable? He must be adopted.
Thanks Adriana I just watched it On Demand. For some reason I just don't like watching TV shows on my computer.
I have to go to my mom's to make lunch so the recap won't be posted until late this afternoon.
Beth--Yah, funny how the "who's your daddy" light bulb never clicked on for Loopy when she learned Pedro wasn't really her brother...
in the finale (or next-to-last episode), wasn't Isabel shocked when Petra and Angel told her who her father was?
But wait...rewind to San Francisco, after the bus crash, when she and Pedro talk in the hospital. Pedro: "I just found out something horrible about my family." Isabel: "yes, and I just found some awful news out who my father is."
Okay, letting it go, moving on...
Sort of.
:o)

Sue! A million thanks for all your recapping and for the excellent gran final.
I have a vague memory of (maybe) Margarita telling Fake Gina something about Lupita's father having been abusive. But I'm not sure about that; it's pretty fuzzy.
Another blog which shall remain nameless put a fear into me about the last episode. I don't know where the person who wrote it got their info, but they indicated DyO would end on a cliffhanger. That we'd not know, perhaps, if Iggy and Pedro ended up together. So I watched the finale on tenterhooks and was very satisfied with the way they wrapped things up.
I also think Ana was terrific as Ignacia. The writers didn't do her any favors sometimes, having her fall for her mother's schemes over and over, but she did a great job.
I read the Wiki on her. She was born in Ukraine and moved with her parents to Mexico at age 9. She's fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish and English. What a cutie! She was SO vile in Mi Corazón Insiste that I wasn't sure I could appreciate her as the heroine, but I definitely did.
OK, Adriana, the scene with José and Teresa Cristina falling in lust WAS pretty funny. I have just gotten tired of the repetitive scenes of him with his other kid knocking holes in walls and talking about Chino's treasure. When I was on vacation, did they ever say how he happened to conceive that child? He appears older than the three he had with Griselda.
Glad you agree with me about Ro. I kind of let the swishy stereotype go, giving them the benefit of the doubt. But they've just run the character into the ground.
I'd like to think the nurse will recognize TC at the funeral, but it appears too soon for everyone to catch onto her crimes.
Two hour episodes? I really hate those. I'm on the fence about recapping again. At the most, I might be able to pull off one per week, Monday being my best day because it's my day off.
I'm not looking forward to the 2-hr episodes either. Sometimes it's all I can do to get Friday's done. Like now. I'm about halfway through.
DYO
I really liked Ana as Ignacia. This is the first time I've seen her.
I'm really curious about how they're going to do this. That novela is in a two-way tie with Amor Real as my all-time favorite novela.
So, are they going to run it in one of the evening slots, instead of new programming? Could be a risky move as some people won't watch something twice. Plus it was already re-run on some other network, I think. And lots of people, I'm sure, bought the DVDs when they came out.
I actually probably would watch most of it again. It was SO engrossing that I could hardly wait for the next evening's episode.
I know Telemundo had a viewer poll about LRDS, La Casa de al Lado, and one other (La Fantasma de Elena? Sin Senos no hay Paradiso? Can't remember). And LRDS won in a landslide.
I'm wondering if they aren't at a bit of a stalemate. They've done some very good narconovelas and I think they've all been successful. But some people hate those like the plague and yearn for romance. I don't think Dama y Obrero did well, so they rushed the end.
Anyone have any inside information about what's next?
(Más vale tarde que nunca.)
The hospital staff reviews the security tape and the nurse recognizes the "blonde" with the sunglasses. They will review the security camera at the entrance and to see if there is a match.
Ro has been climbing the walls with worry because TC went out alone. He wishes that TC could have sent him a little message saying everything is OK. She tells him "everything is more than OK," gives him one of her patented looks, and goes upstairs.
JP and Marcia are looking over some fabric choices. Esther brings some designs for JP to review. He makes a flip remark about how she and the baby must be feeling well because she is leaving late. And then he makes a crude remark about choosing the sex of the baby "since, you know, everything is modern and done in a laboratory." Esther says she prefers to be surprised. She has chosen a name: if it's a boy Juan Pablo. "Why not?–It's such a pretty name." She leaves and this does not sit well with JP who says she overstepped her bounds (extralimitarse) but Marcia says he provoked her. Vanesa calls to thank him for lunch and says he can call her anytime if he needs to talk. Of all the women in Miami. Blech. Later we see JP looking at Esther's designs and he says out loud "¡Maravillosos!" Esther sees him from across the room and smiles.
Simón comments that Vanesa is becoming quite the little manhunter (cazahombres). She tells him, "War is war and I don't waste time."
José approaches Casa Palmer with a styrofoam box. Ew…he licks his hand and pats back his hair. Manuel looks at him as if he is an alien. José tells Elsa that he has brought "Madame" some fish. "She isn't going to come down to look at some fish." "Then tell her I'm the ex-husband of the woman who moved in across the way. I came to bring her some fish and to discuss some things we have in common. Now move your little a$$ ("nalguitas," from "nalgas," buttocks) and do what I asked."
"Are you still here?" TC asks Ro in her bedroom. "I had such a bad afternoon. You left without telling me where you were going and you turned off your cell." "Well I don't owe you any explanation and just for that I'll keep you in suspense for one week…without pay." He tells her he's serious and that he needs her attention. Marido fans, Ro was beginning to grow on me but now I can't stand him again. He offers her his unconditional support. She tells him to leave because she is sad about the death of her "dear friend" Marcela and she feels like crying. She pretends to cry and when he leaves she takes the wig out of the bag and starts to kiss it.
At the hospital the nurse says that she's sure the woman in question is not a natural blonde. Her mother was a hairdresser and she learned from her to tell the difference between natural hair and a wig. "It's a well-made wig, but it is a wait." The security officer comes in and says he could not find a match. He wonders if they should cal the police. The doctor says that they can't unless they are absolutely certain that Marcela's death was premeditated. The nurse proposes that she attend the burial because her friend may be there.
TC tells whoever's knocking at the door to go away but Elsa is persistent. Elsa tells her about the fisherman downstairs and then does the charade bit to tell her he's the ex of the "exbigotuda." "What could he want with me?" "To sell you some fish? And he says he has business to discuss with you." Downstairs Ro asks José what the purpose of his visit is and José tells him in nicer words to mind his own business." TC comes downstairs and asks, "Does this person who dares to come here at such a late hour have a name?" He looks her over.
Reinaldo comments to Simón that he and Vanesa are getting along better, even smiling. Reinaldo thinks he should find himself a woman. Simón says it's not going to be Vanesa.
"José Salinas, at your service." He kisses her hand and she wipes it off on Ro's shirt. "Is it true you're the ex of the woman across the street?" He tells her Gris could never aspire to be in the same class as TC. This is music to TC's ears and she orders Ro to leave. He has a question for her: "Do you like sea bass?" He holds the open box near his private area. "I love it." Is róbalo (sea bass) a slang word for something else? Anyway, she tells him that he did not stop by to sell her fish or to comment on her house. "When the judge annuls my death certificate, Gris and I will be married again. Then I will have plans." TC is intrigued and suggests they discuss these plans somewhere else. "How about at my…pigsty?" She agrees. There's a nice Freudian slip that doesn't translate well to English re: "pecados" (sins) and "pescados" (fish). He tells her to have Reinaldo cook the fish, get the recipe from him, and then he'll show her what he can do…in the kitchen. Sparks are flying everywhere. He looks down her dress and leaves. She asks herself, "What did he see in the exbigotuda?"
Meanwhile in the kitchen Ro tells Elsa that he doesn't trust this guy and TC has been acting strange lately. He wonders if José has anything to do with Marcela's death. Manuel comes in and says that TC doesn't confide in him.
TC asks Ro to help her pick out a black dress for Marcela's funeral so she can show everyone how devastated she is.
At the hardware store class is wrapping up. She gives encouragement to one of her students but not to the one who likes Jethro. Gris, if she was like that during the interview, why did you choose her? Gris says she has to get home so she'll be there when Antonio arrives.
Amalia is setting up her new store. Sol tells her that Manuel is negotiating a recording contract for her. "Thing are finally looking up." She also tells her that she's in love with Daniel and he is in love with her only he doesn't know it yet. "What about Rafa?" "Case closed. Until he makes up for what he did I'm not seeing him." At Fashion Motors Rafa is looking at Amalia's picture. He's not paying attention to his work because Ivan tells him that the accountant says the invoices are late. He goes into his office to start on them. Ivan asks Susana if she knows what's wrong and she makes up a story about a relative who recently died. Ivan says that if he doesn't get his act together he is going to give Rafa's job to her. He leaves and she comments to Eddy that it's only a matter of time before they are rid of him.
Antonio wants to hurry over to Gris' because he wants to see Pati before she leaves.
Clinton and Max are at Gourmet Palmer with another man. They toast Max's new role as a coach. Reinaldo is sitting at the bar. Simon asks him if anything is wrong. He tells him no and goes into his office.
Pati is saying goodbye to everyone. There are a lot of back and forth scenes about the two parties that are being planned. Summary: None of the neighbors are going to either one. TC decides to cancel hers using Marcela's death as an excuse while Gris says her is still on but only for family and close friends. Antonio arrives. Pati says that if she could adopt a mother it would be Gris. She says goodbye to Amalia, Jethro and Kikito. Antonio asks who she's seeing, referring to the guy with the motorcycle. "MYOB." Jethro advises him to cool the jealousy.
Max gives Barbara the money to hire a good lawyer. She laments that their marriage didn't work out. Max says there's no going back.
Reinaldo pulls into his driveway and sees Pati. He asks her to come back home but she refuses, saying she needs time to be alone. Reinaldo goes inside and informs TC that Pati is moving back to the posada. She is afraid of her being with Antonio again but he tells her that Antonio is going to live with his family.
Antonio can't even conceive of losing Pati but Jethro advises him to let her go at least for now. Pati returns to the posada; Paloma has everything ready for her.
Reinaldo sees Gris outside. They speak about Pati and being there for her. Gris gets a chill and decides to go into the house.
Ivan is sitting in the lobby of the posada. "For once in your life stop being so defensive and enjoy an adventure." Paloma says their relationship can't work because they are so different. He grabs her and kisses her. They decide to go to his apartment. There she tries to back out but eventually gives in to her desire.
Antonio asks Gris if she was helping Pati because of her relationship with Reinaldo. She reminds him Reinaldo is a married man. "Unhappily married, but married just the same." He's married, but he's not dead." "This conversation is dead." "I'll go to my room." "Remember, it's my house, but you can use it."
Next morning TC has on a black dress and black hat "like Electra in the work by Eugene O'Neill." [Mourning Becomes Electra]. Reinaldo thinks it's a bit over the top but she says that it's homage to Marcela because she liked beautiful things. He goes to get ready.
In Gris's kitchen Gris asks if Iris And Mario are going to show up. Amalia tells her they will be late because they are going to Marcela's funeral. Amalia comments about how TC saw the whole thing and Gris says that woman just attracts danger. Antonio comes in. He's running late and wants to use the car he bought. Gris says the keys are in the other room. She takes them out of the drawer but doesn't give them to him. She tells him he can take the bus and he had better hurry if he doesn't want to miss class.
Babs calls the Law Offices of Attorney Monica Ramos and asks for an appointment for today.
Fernando is lurking in the background at Marcela's burial. The nurse looks over at TC and says to herself, "It's her."
Sue, it's never too late, thank you for your effort and for the great recap.
Breanna, thank you for the link to Miguel Varoni's old show, I'll check it out when I have the time.
So Rei thinks Simon and Vanesa might be involed.... won't he have the biggest surprise when he finds out what Simon is up to.
Novelera, about why they are airing La Reina again....
My speculation: DyO wasn't as famous as they wanted it to be, so they cut it short (in a shemeless manner from out I get from the people on this board); but they didn't yet have a tn to replace it with, so for a while they promoted Avenida Brazil to take its place. For some reason, though, that deal didn't come through, so they are left with this empty slot in primetime (!!)
I think La Reina will fill in the spot that DyO left open in a short while, but for now we get 2 eoisodes of Marido, which could be the back-up plan to a back-up plan that didn't work - since the tn is already done taping, they can afford to do this.
As for recapping 2 shows... that's very difficult to do... I know for sure I'll stick to the basics , the action is already too slow, no point in getting into too much detail.
Novelera, if you want to recap Mondays (your free day), let me know and it's all yours (I could try to tackle one of the mid week days, when Kelly can't.)
OK, I'll definitely recap tonight's two hour Marido and see how it feels. I'll likely continue, but I just want to test the waters. As I said, I hate two hour shows. Of course, they'll probably just do twice as many commercials and maybe it will be under one and a half hours of actual show!
