TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of October 21
Labels: marido, santa, telemundo
At the funeral the nurse first looks at another blond and asks if it could be her.
Esther shows up at Fina Estampa. She and Juan Pablo trade barbs. She snarks at him that she’s surprised he’s not at the funeral of his dear friend Marcela. He comes up with the estupidez de siempre that she’s pregnant with another man’s child.
Gris tells Kike that she did NOT lend Tony the car. He was treated like a prince his whole life and, rather than be grateful, he was full of himself and forgot where he came from.
Bárbara finally questions José about the virtual destruction of the house. José would like her to move out soon, but she says they’ll have to put up with her a bit longer.
Gris tells Kike she thinks it’s odd that José is messing up a house that Chino said not to touch. Gris decides to drop by.
Max surprises Paloma and Iván in bed together.
Gris has arrived at her old house. Upon entering, she says to herself that this isn’t a remodel either here or in China. José comes out, completely rattled. Giselda va directo al grano. (gets right to the point) “What are you looking for?"
TC tries to convince Reinaldo that she’s grief stricken, but is unable to contain herself and says that she wants the coffin covered up with earth. Meanwhile Fernando peeks around a tree and sees the nurse that impeded him from entering Marcela’s room.
Griselda waves a hammer at José and tells him he has to be searching for something because he’s too useless and lazy to be remodeling. She asks him if it has something to do with Chino. When Elio arrives she right away calls him Jose’s son. She says she can see the resemblance in their walk and the way they gesture. They proceed to give a vivid example of what she means when they both try to tell her she’s crazy using the same gestures. Griselda sums it up: He came back to find something in the house and brought his son.
Bárbara meets with her lawyer. The first thing Mónica Ramos does is confirm that Babs abandoned Kikito to leave with another man. And three years elapsed.
Clinton shows Máximo a gym where some mixed martial arts guys are working out. He wants him to pick the ones most likely to succeed. Max then gives them a pep talk about training with love and respect. [I hope they find someone for Max before this is over!]
Idiot Antonio grills Pati’s friend Ellen about the guy who came to pick Pati up in the motorcycle. She eventually gives in and tells him the guy is named Simón and works for Pati’s father. Tony later rants to Daniel, who says maybe they’re just friends. Antonio: ¡Por Dios! ¡Amigo el ratón del queso! Despite Daniel’s attempts to reason with him, he rushes off to confront Simón.
At the funeral the nurse stops TC and says she knows her.
At Fashion Motors, Rafa is still sunk in depression and won’t review some paperwork. Susana says to Eduardo: Es por la patada en el trasero que recibió de la otra. (It’s because “the other” kicked him out.) Eduardo figures out from Susana’s calling Amalia “the other” that she must have been involved with Rafa and that’s why she didn’t rat him out to Iván when she had the chance. We then see Rafa looking through the window of Amalia’s new store like a lost soul.
The nurse tries to get TC to take off her sunglasses to get a better look, but the increasingly obnoxious Ro objects and the moment passes.
Rafa inserts himself into Amalia’s shop and tries to help move boxes. She notices his crappy appearance. He whines that he doesn’t care any more. She asks if he goes to work that way. The jerk tells her it’s her fault that his life doesn’t have any meaning. He tries some more to work on her. He says he won’t turn himself in. It’s a crazy idea. She insists that he leave.
The nurse recognizes Fernando as the guy who tried to get into Intensive Care. He puts a gun in her ribs and moves her away. [OK. This is where I’m screaming what I’ve heard about saving your life. Never leave with someone who has a knife or a gun. Chances are they’ll only wound, not kill you if you run away. If they get you alone, all bets are off.]
Griselda’s trainees are drooling over Kike.
Doctora Alba goes to Fashion Motors’ open house and is spotted by Elio, who puts some serious moves on her outside the place.
Gabe again delivers tacos to Esther, and they both agree how much they enjoy his visits.
Gabriel drops by Maridas en Alquiler and tells Griselda she should be traveling the world instead of working. She brings up the chisme about he and Esther. She again says she wants to be his friend, and he again loses it. So I guess he’s not over her after all.
Fernando grills the nurse and finds out about the video of the mysterious blonde at the hospital. The nurse signs her death warrant by saying that at least she knows the name of Teresa Cristina Palmer and that she’s going to tell the police. Fernando, of course, shoots her. Later he calls TC and tells her “case closed”.
Reinaldo tries to talk with TC about how nervous she was about the woman at the funeral and gets the usual line of crap. He says that what she’s doing is dejar que gota a gota se vaya llenando el vaso de las molestias, pero un día ese vaso va a rebosar. (She’s filling the cup of annoyances drop by drop until one day it will overflow.)
Ellen tells Vanessa about having told Tony about Simón. Ellen thinks he’s handsome. Vanessa says he’s a pain in the hindquarters, and she plans to use this information on Simón.
Esther has come to Fina Estampa wondering where Juan Pablo is. Meanwhile, he’s shown up to offer Vanessa ride to work.
Reinaldo tells Simón that every day Teresa Cristina becomes more unbalanced.
Antonio is still stalking Pati. He has the cojones to ask her to give him a ride home. She refuses, telling him she’s going to the posada and he’s going to his mansion. He orders her to tell him the truth about whether she’s seeing someone. She tells him she doesn’t owe him an explanation. It’s over! As she walks away, he yells like a petulant child that she’ll come back to him.
Mario and Iris find the canvas bag with the $5 million meant to pay off Bárbara under Griselda’s bed. But it has a combination lock on it. Amalia catches them in Gris’ bedroom and throws them out.
Vanessa blathers on to JP about her ambitions. He asks if he can kiss her, and she leaps across the seat an plants one on him.
Antonio shows up at Gourmet Palmer. “Who is Simón?” When Simón responds he warns him not to come near Pati. Simón tries to calm him down. Tony: ¡Mira, mesonero. Yo soy el novio de Patricia! (Look here, waiter, I am Pati’s boyfriend.) What an insufferable ass! Reinaldo comes in during some shoving. Antonio threatens Simón again right in front of Reinaldo. Simón apologizes for the scene. He says he’s just been trying to help Patti. He suspects that Vanessa misinterpreted this and started to spread rumors. Without realizing it, Reinaldo wounds him by saying he’s like an uncle to Pati!
Diosa and Gigante see Fernando taking a shower and decide he’s washing away a crime.
Doctora Alba is musing that she needs a man when Elio comes out of nowhere and they proceed to get it on. She repents of this right after the deed and throws him out, calling him a patán.
Gris tries to make things right with Gabriel, telling him she misses him. And she admits she’s a bit upset hearing about he and Esther! She says she made a mistake with him and wants to start over. He’s fallen to his knees when Gris’ cell rings. It’s Reinaldo! Realizing this, Gabriel storms off.
Iris and Mario raid Griselda’s fridge and are almost caught at the door by Amalia. But they lie and say it’s their laundry!
Vanessa overhears Reinaldo’s part of the conversation with Griselda in which he wants to come and unburden himself with her. Whoops! Vanessa texts TC that Reinaldo and Griselda are seeing each other and right now are in Gris’ new company.
José has come to Tacos Bar to cadge drinks from Gabriel. Gabe asks if he’s come to cotorrear (to chatter).
After a State Farm product placement, Gris and Rei start, awkwardly at first, to talk. He tells her he hasn’t been happy. Gris understands and says that life with TC must be up, down and maybe sideways. One doesn’t know where they stand. He says he’s been so patient. She tells him even Job reached his limit. However, she asks him why he came to talk this over with her, the woman TC hates most in the world. He just tells her she’s a special person.
Vanessa tries out her strategy on Simón, insinuating that he’s after Pati and she might spill the beans. He just tells her to watch her tongue. Conozco tu rabo de paja (I know your straw tail; I think this means something that could be set on fire.) He says he knows she’s mixed up with Reinaldo’s married brother-in-law. She slinks away and I am loving it!
Iván tells Max how special Paloma is and how happy he is. Nice guy Max doesn’t begrudge him this at all
Reinaldo tells Gris that he’s tried to avoid fights with TC. Her problem is that she was born rich. Her father spoiled her. She’s had everything she wanted immediately without having to work for it. He’s tried to get her to realize her selfishness. But he’s failed. Gris says she understands. A day can come when you feel very far away from the person you’re with. He asks if she means her ex. Gris says that, luckily for her, José did her the favor of disappearing. And this is something TC will never do. He holds her hand and says that he has never been able to say these things at the bottom of his soul to anyone else.
Gabe manages to slip up and tell José that Gris and Reinaldo are together at this moment.
We see TC pull up in her car and see Griselda and Reinaldo through the window, holding hands.
I'm in an all-day meeting so I can't really do my from-memory summary but I will make a few comments to start a discussion.
I will take credit for guessing that George was going to end up owning the Cano mansion. How he managed to make so much money when he didn't really have anything to invest is confusing but we should probably just move on.
My prediction that Samanda and Santi made a baby when they had sex was clearly wrong since we know that pregnancy on novela manifests immediately and we had a time jump with no fainting, etc.
From the non pregnant, we move to the supposedly pregnant - Inés. It looked like she got annoyed with Willy and didn't come for more inseminations. It also looked like her pregnancy test was negative. But later we see her with a baby bump. Is Inés pregnant? If not, how is she able to pretend with Santi? Isn't she getting checkups from her doctor?
Then we go to the definitely pregnant - Lisette. She was obviously devastated when Ivan refused to see her. So in the time-jump sequence, we see her in bed being fed by Horti. She can't even lift a spoon?
Samanda also finds out that Willy was unfaithful with Inés and Daniela. She is destrozada.
Vicente is overwhelmed with guilt and comes to see Elisa and they end up in bed. But later, Vicente disses Elisa on the street.
Then there's wussy Victoria. She agrees to marry Patricio but not right away and she's not going to be intimate with him until they tie the knot.
That's about all that I remember.
I guess I will have to change my thinking about fainting meaning pregnant. Did you see that Pres Obama caught a woman that was fainting? She was also diabetic & it was probably for that reason.
OK, I'm not watching this, but I occasionally read the recaps. When I quit watching, Santa was pregnant with Humberto's baby. Jean's recap now says she isn't pregnant. Did she miscarry? False alarm?
thanks so much novelera,
I really do miss your recaps, comments, and spanish lessons, when you are away, but you really earn your breaks, I hope you had a wonderful time, and do it again soon.
two hours is too long to hang out with this gang,
and the brutal way Fernando/TC get rid of people... yikes,
Reinaldo really does need someone sane to talk with.
I'm back from Uganda, and it looks like there have been a lot of changes on Telemundo. DyO is over!? And Marido is now 2 hours?! Lots to catch up on.
the passing of time was sure well done,
starting with Lucy still making herself at home in casa Vicente, Vicente points, Pancho shrugs, (yes Hombre, Pancho must have been adopted, but I don't think anyone took Lucy)
Patricio gets another case of cash from the fat guy girl buyer,
Victoria sits and cries,
Hortensia visits Arturo, urging him to return to life,
Ines waits and worries over getting pregnant,
Lisette, in bed, is being spoon fed by Hortensia, is she totally defeated,
Ivan writes in his book, sitting on the cold floor, while his cellmates are gone,
Santiago plays his sax at the Cafe, while Ines keeps an eye on him,
Transito is looking like a rag doll the way Patricio throws her on to the bed, for his sex-on-demand session,
Paula and George sleep at her house, as she looks questionably at Willy's photo,
Ines is finally showing,
Vicente blows off Elisa in public,
dinner at casa Cano, Santa's eyes, filled with hate, fall on Daniela, while Humberto surveys the scene with steely eyes,
Willy has nightmare sex with Santa as Ines watches over them,
months later,
Santiago gets a letter special delivery under-the-door,
it's a pic of him and Gloria, and a note, "Eres hombre muerto".
novelera, the pregnancy that Santa had originally with Humberto from their wedding night,
later on while arguing, Santa ran out of the bedroom, and was caught by Humberto,
on the stairs,
she fell,
and lost the baby,
(Humberto looked destroyed, even though he wasn't sure it was his),
the doctor also noted mescaline in her blood, (from Huberto's knockout tea's).
I made a wild guess last night when Simón said to Vanessa: ¡Conozco tu rabo de paja!.
I found a Spanish definition today:
No debemos criticar ni juzgar una situación para la cual somos vulnerables.
So I think a good translation of what Simón said could be:
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Novelera, thank you for the recap. Two shows in one night is definitely too much. I try to watch in the morning, before I go to work so I have to see how I can squeeze another 40 minutes in there.
Vanesa and Simon really are in similar situations... If I didn't know better, I'd say these two would end up together at the end... I guess someone already mentioned this as a possibility a while ago.
But does that mean that Paty will get stuck with that Tony sleaze?
I'm pretty sire Ivan not having a bed to sleep on is a huge violation of prisoner's rights or whatever. I understand that he's a cop killer, but shouldn't there be check ups every now and then?
By Ines' belly, I'd say it's been at least 3 months since he was jailed.
I felt very bad for Lisette when Ivan didn't want to see her; all he cares about is whiny Victoria (ugh) and writing his never ending love declaration to her, when his mom, who raised him all alone and is now pregnant couldn't even see him - I know he thinks he's protecting her, but this is not the way!
Today it just dawned on me - Willy was accused of rape or attempted rape (right?) - but what he really did was worthy of jail time, too, ... sleeping with a minor (and how young was Dany, anyway, isn't she supposed to be 16 now?? and Willy has been "dead" for 2 years - the thought of Dany being 14 when Willy went after her made me nauseous).
So Humberto was right in throwing him in jail, even if he set him up...
This tn isn't getting great ratings, from what I see they never go beyond 1 million viewers more or less...
Could it be because of the very weak leads? Could a change in Santa's attitude towards Humberto increase the ratings?
I know, I'm grasping at straws, but it's such a shame to have such blah leads when the rest of the stories are so entertaining.
Novelera, what a great recap! This TN was all over the place last night, and I'm amazed you got the full 2 hours out so fast.
Ilsa commented that she'd never seen TC so crazy when TC was leaving the house in a frenzy. Thank goodness, Reinaldo had the foresight to lock up that gun.
Elio and Alba - I couldn't decide if I was more entertained or grossed out.
Gris is quick - figuring out the Jose/Elio plan and relationship. How long before Barbie does the same?
Tony is AWFUL. What an insufferable a$$. I do hope the writers aren't planning to reunite him with Pati. Pati is mature enough to be with Simon, and his age shouldn't be a problem.
Vanessa is a snake. If she can't have Reinaldo, no one can.
Beth
This show just keeps me on the edge of my seat. I have negative feelings for every single character, but I keep watching! Things that make me have negative feelings are, for example,
Santa: tells Santiago to stay away from her forever. And yet, she now knows that Willy was unfaithful. Why bother with the revenge?
Paula: Promised Santa she wouldn't have a romance with George. Then she does.
Begonia: Also had an affair with Willy, but won't tell Santa.
Padre Milton: Thinks Patricio is a wonderful man, loves the Cano family.
Ivan: Won't see his mother for 36 years, to "spare her" the shame.
Lucy: Steals things, sponges off her ex-boyfriend's family.
Transito: Lies to the police, so she can stay alive. But is this a life?
Santiago: Okay, he really hasn't done anything bad. But he's a little boring.
Elisa: Too manipulative with Mara, and then too trusting with Vicente.
Arturo: That smirk.
Lazaro: He's got the same smirk!
And these are the GOOD characters.
Currently, I'm liking the bad guys way more, especially George. I loved it when he took the pictures of Fran's children from her room and tossed them out the window! Then he bounded on the bed, in his red sports jacket. Yes, he's the KING!
Two hours is too much for my schedule. But I'll probably follow the recaps, and watch when I can. Novelera, thank you for a terrific recap of last night's show.
I just got back from a 2½ week trip, most of it in China. I had expected that I'd be able to follow the recaps and discussions, but it turned out that China blocked CarayCaray. Apparently, it blocks several blogging sites (as well as lots of other sites, such as the NYTimes). So now I'm frantically trying to catch up. I'm almost caught up, but I see that Marido is running for two hours per night. That plus Santa is simply more than I can handle. I'll keep watching Santa but will switch to recaps-only for Marido. Thanks to all the recappers and commenters who make this possible.
J desde NYC, Esther's pregnancy is from the insemination, that's what they all know (including Esther) and the audience has no reasons to believe otherwise.
But just before being inseminated Esther and JP had a last love making session, so I think she might have gotten pregnant that one time. Sure, he's sterile and her eggs are no longer viabile, but stranger things have happened in tns.
JP has expressed so much hatred towards this baby, it woudl serve him right to be the father only to have Esther reject him and choose Gabe instead.
Hombre, I'm with you on everything you said about teh good guys - none is root worthy. Santo hasn't done anything bad so far, but just looking at his face drives me mad - I don't like it when a galan looks like he's about to cry ALL the time.
I found him especially unlikable when he kept insisting that Humberto DO something to keep their mother's house.
Funny how he is all up in Humber's face, but he doesn't mind what Santa is trying to do to his family.
The whole Elisa-Vicente scene was laugh worthy - I really don't like this character anymore and she started out so well.
Humber is still my favorite; I especially liked the scene where he showed, for the first time, that Santi's departure from the family really hurt him.
Aside from killing a few guys (and he kind of did a service to the society with those actions), what else can we reproach him? Aside from the fact that he's awesome?
TC arrived at the Maridas shop and is spying on Gris and Rei from the car – they are holding hands and smiling at one another. She’s just about to go bust them, when Jose comes to stop her. He manages to convince her to leave the shop with him for now, la venganza es un plato que se come frio.
Rei is ever so lovable, complimenting Gris for everything he can think of. She’s not doing that bad, either: their talks are so nice, he always knows how to comfort her… remember all those early mornings at Gourmet Palmer. Rei would like to have a repeat one those.
The shop will soon be opened, and she’ll have a party for the house, too and Rei is invited; he’ll come, that’s a promise.
When they say good bye, he kisses her hand again… must be that French education.
Gabe decided to hire his cousin to come help with the tacos bar, so Clara suggests he could ask Esther for help to send him an e-mail, since Gabe has no clue about how a computer works.
Sol receives great news from the recording company – they want to work with her. She’s overjoyed, she runs to tell her friends, but ends up in Daniel’s car and kisses him.
Unfortunately, Manuel sees them and starts to punch Daniel like the Neanderthal that he is.
He is eventually stopped, but he drags Sol home, kicking and screaming.
At the posada Daniel tells Diosa that Sol was the one always following him.
After she finds out what Manuel did, Celeste asks him to stop being so creepily jealous of his daughter; if Manuel doesn’t apologize to Daniel, she’ll advice him to tell the police.
Ivan and Paloma continue their romance, this time kissing in an elevator. Ines is happy that her daughter finally has a man, it was about time.
Vanesa tells Pati that Simon likes her – so what if Simon is older. Pati thinks Vane is imagining things.
Esther helps Gabe send the e-mail; after they share a moment – he’s grateful for her help, she’s even more grateful for the same… they almost kiss, but stop before anything really happens.
JP is not that cautious, though, he calls Vanesa at the restaurant and they end up spending the night together.
Barbie is at home, she finds an old toy of Little K’s and cuddles with it on a chair.
Later on, she’s still in the living room, wondering what on Earth is Jose doing with the house, when she hears noise and she hides. Jose and TC come inside and they start what I can only call a mating game.
Jose acts like he’s a handsome, telenovela galan with an inclination for violence, TC acts like the frigid housewife who kind of likes what she sees, but is still fighting it just for show.
Barbie watches from a hidden corner as Jose plants a big one on TC; he thinks her mouth smells like money, she slaps him, he slaps her back… he likes it rough… she’s disgusted and intrigued at the same time. He hugs her in a sleazy way that makes her screech, but I don’t see her leaving.
When she remembers the scene she witnessed between Rei and Gris, she decides to go for it with Jose, so she accepts his order to go up to his room.
And, while Rei and Gris are each thinking about their talk earlier, TC and Jose do a little more than that.
They are now in his bedroom, he rips her dress and they end up in bed, after she shows another ounce of resistance (with Barbie listening everything from the door). When he throws her on the bed, she says she’s used with a more gentle approach, but that’s definitely not Jose’s style.
Antonio is burning the midnight oil, studying, when Gris comes to check up on him. We get one of the few moments of actual bonding between the two, when Tony is not the insufferable a$$ he usually is. She’s very proud of him, he’s determined to be the best plastic surgeon in the city – I have to say, if he chose a different field, I might be more impressed with him.
The next morning Rei arrives home from the restaurant and a desperate Ro tells him that TC didn’t sleep in her bed. They call her several times, she’s in bed with Jose, asleep. She finally wakes up when Elio comes knocking. TC wants to leave immediately, but her dress is destroyed after last night.
Enter Barbie, to offer one of her outfits – so TC leaves the house wearing a tight and bright goldish sluty dress.
She somehow convinces Paloma to give her an alibi for last night and then calls Iris for the same, promising money in exchange, of course.
Tony spent the night studying so now he’s late for school. Gris agrees to pay him a taxi, or even hire him a driver, but he’ll never drive the car he bought!
Later on, with Daniel, he finds out that his friend might be digging Sol after all – he wore him off with her insistence. And apparently Manuel apologized for punching him, but I guess that happened off screen, because I didn’t see it.
When TC gets home, Rei and Ro are shocked to see her dressed as a piruja. TC tells Rei that she spent the night at the posada; of course, he doesn’t believe a word, but Iris and Mario come in to support her story.
Upstairs in her bedroom, TC pays Iris a stash of money for her cooperation.
Rafael is so upset and in so much pain over Amalia, that Susana starts to worry about him; she tries to wake him up from his lethargy, get him to work, but he won’t. So she goes to talk to Amalia, put in a good word for Rafa, but Amalia is resolved not to give in.
Victor sees Peny with Leo on the beach, so he decides to tell her what Leo is doing behind her back (and I have no clue, either, what has he been up to since he’s no longer working for Rafa?). At first Peny thinks Victor is only trying to cause trouble, but eventually, she agrees to come with him.
Ro is all stressed out, not knowing what happened with TC – he begs to allow him to help, he wants to know what she’s doing. Ro saw her with Fernando, is she having an affair with him? She thinks he should mind his own business, take care of the way he talks to her and remember what his position in her house is. He goes on and on about the fact that he needs to know what is going on with her in order to protect her. So, she says that Rei is about to cheat on her with Gris. But everybody will be sorry when her vengeance begins and she’ll start by destroying Rei and then she’ll kill Gris. Ro’s reaction: to screech and whine and run around the house, like crazy. Maybe this would be a good time to go talk with Reinaldo… don’t you think so?
Fernando is playing volleyball on the beach, but he can’t focus on the game –he’s thinking about the nurse he killed.
At the hospital the other nurse and the doctor are worried – now they must call the police.
At night, Barbie comes to visit Little K. The boy wants to go out for pizza, Barbie wants K to join them. He says no, but what he really means to say is yes, so eventually he caves in.
Victor takes Peny to see what Leo is doing: he’s dealing drugs (did I see that right?)
Peny doesn’t want to see Leo ever again, she wants to stay away from him. She’s disappointed, she thought he wanted to change. Victor offers his help and Peny accepts on the condition that he keeps quiet about what Leo is doing.
At the shop, Gris is thinking whether to call Rei or not. Eventually he calls her, he feels there are so many things left to say between them… not stuff that can be talked over the phone, though – he wants to see her, he needs to be with her.
She’s left speechless for a moment, he calls her over to dine together. Gris is afraid she’ll meet TC, when Rei reassures her that won’t happen, she still resists the invitation and refuses him. Some other time, maybe.
Rafa comes to talk to Amalia, to tell her once again that he loves her; he begs her to take him back, but she refuses, because he’s a criminal – he has to confess if he wants her back.
Later Tony and Rafa talk about Rafa’s stealing – Tony is surprised Rafa would go that far. They start pointing out what each has done in the past, but what Rafa needs now is a friend: should he turn himself in? Tony thinks that’s silly, Amalia is a saint, but not everybody is like her.
Leo goes over to the taco bar, Gabe asks him why he stopped working at the moto shop, but Leo is rude about it, like always. Clara hopes Leo will change once he grows up a little, but what more can she do?
Esther calls Gabe to tell him that his cousin answered the e-mail and agreed to come to Miami. His name is Alberto.
Ivan and Max have a talk about women – Ivan thinks Max should find someone else. Ivan is very happy with Paloma.
Kike, Barbie and Little K go at the same pizza place where Peny and Victor were; Peny goes to tell Clara about it, Clara is sad but pretends not to care anymore.
Max sees the happy family, too. Apparently, K ordered Barbie’s favorite pizza, and what a coincidence that she remembers all that he likes, too – all she wishes now is to wake up next to him, make love to him (and she says that with Little K standing right next to her). And on and on she goes, while K tries to reject her.
Max comes over to warn K that he’ll be sorry for what he’s doing – Barbie is only trying to take advantage. He lets K know that Barbie came to ask him for money to pay a lawyer to get the child’s custody. When he hears this, K takes Little K and leaves, after the required scandal and screaming happen.
Paloma leaves Victor in charge of the posada, because she has plans. Jose comes for a visit and an organic beer. Apparently Paloma knows that TC spent the night with him; so what, if Rei is interested in Grisi why shouldn’t TC have some fun, too?
Paloma can’t believe TC would be interested in Jose, but he’s more than willing to show her proof – as luck would have it, he has TC’s ripped dress with him so he shows Paloma the fabric; also, he adds that TC might be a stuck up woman for the others, but with him, she did all kind of kinky stuff.
Paloma can barely believe her ears, while Fernando overhears the entire conversation.
I looked at my bursting dvr and I made an executive decision. Since the plots had gone off the rails in all of the other tns I had been watching before I left, except for Marido, I decided to erase everything else except for it and Mentir Para Vivir, which started while I was away and has been getting very good reviews for its original story.
I see folks have been complaining about the slow plot of Marido, but given that I actually still like most of the characters, and the characters I’m supposed to like aren’t doing stupid/hateful things, it was the perfect tn to watch marathon episodes yesterday, without feeling like I wanted to throw something heavy at my tv. I’m almost caught up now. Two hours a day is a lot though, and I'm not sure how/if I'll keep up once my vaca is over.
Thoughts:
-I’m getting excited for the Gris-Rei first kiss. It looks like it’s coming soon.
- I don’t get JP and Vanessa, but as long as it keeps her out of Rei’s path, I’m fine with it.
-I wish Gabe could find a woman who loves him without another man being in the way—I just know Ester isn’t over JP.
- Alba and Elio are odd, but also kind of funny. And hey, they are both getting what they want and not hurting anyone.
- Rei was definitely giving Simon the suspicious papa side-eye after the Tony confrontation, when he said Simon was like an UNCLE to Pati. I will not be easy for Simon to try to take his relationship with Pati to a new level, but I’m rooting for them. I think Pati is mature enough to handle a relationship with an older man.
- Tony—Blech! Enough said. He gets more selfish and insufferable every day.
- Is it bad that I feel sad for Rafa? I know he’s a criminal, and that he’s slept with two other women in order to keep his shady biz on the down-low. But he does seem to love Amalia sincerely. I believe in his love for Amalia way more than I ever believed in Tony’s love for Pati.
-Beatriz can do better than Tony. I really hope nothing happens there.
- That nurse was incredibly stupid to spill all she suspected about TC. Fernando is turning into quite the killer.
-TC and Jose are funny together. Just where will this budding attraction and complicity go?
-Ro is the only character that I’m ready to throttle (even more than Tony).
- I think Daniel does like Sol, but thinks she’s too young. I can see his point. But Amalia is only a year or two older than Sol, and she was dating Rafa.
-Paloma and Ivan finally getting it on. HOT! Yay!
Vivi, good job on choosing which tns to watch... Marido is still good, although slow, and Mentir is the best we've had from Televisa in ages (Amor Bravio apart, at least for me).
I agree with all the points you make on Marido: two episodes a day is too much, but that makes the plot move along faster, so I guess that's the silver lining.
I agree that Humberto did a service to society by killing scum but he also drugged Santa & left her in the woods. But he is my favorite also.
How was Aaron Diaz in Teresa, I don't care for him at all in this. Actually I don't care for Santi or Santa.
A blockbuster of an episode! We begin with Santi looking at a picture of him and Gloria (the druglord’s wife who got killed, and Santi was framed), from his Guatemala days, and on the back it says, You’re a dead man. Inés says what was in the envelope? Oh, just some pictures from the café where I work. As Santi leaves, Inés says, café my a**, I’m no fool! She rushes off, ending up meeting Bert, where she asks him to find out what Santi is hiding. Bert says he’ll look into it. The two of them bond, both agreeing they’re exactly alike, isn’t that strange? (not really, since WE know they’re half-siblings!)
Meanwhile, Begoña hears Daniela tell Bárbara that Dani did have an affair with Willy Delgado for several weeks. Yes, Willy knew she was under age, but didn’t care, he was so attracted to her. But she didn’t mind, it was TRUE ROMANCE for her. She again tells her Mom that the reason Barb is upset is that Barb is jealous. This is true, of course. Anyway, Begoña tells Samanda that Willy did have an affair with Daniela.
Santi, having gotten that picture, goes to tell Samanda. They haven’t seen each other for six months. Yes, everything in the show is 6 months later. But Santi feels that he has to tell Sam about this threat from his past. He also tells her that yes, Inés also had an affair with Willy. (I may have the chronology a little wrong here). Sam doesn’t care about Santi’s threats, Santi is married, will have a baby soon, it’s over. Santi does his usual smooth talking, though, saying how can he compete with a dead guy, and pretty soon they almost kiss. George walks in and sees it.
Samanda goes to Willy’s grave, tells him that she’s just going to believe, or maybe pretend, that he WAS faithful, to honor the love they had. If he were alive, that would be DIFFERENT.
Of course, Willy IS alive. Inés and he have an argument. Despite the fact that he had sex with her several times, she still hasn’t freed him, and it looks as if she never will! We still don’t know for sure if she’s really pregnant, but she’s acting is if she is, showing that bump, telling someone she wonders what it’ll be like to have a baby. Willy is desperate with Inés turning on him like this.
So, when Vicente makes his usual food drop, the sparks fly. Vicente, still upset about the threats to reveal that he is Bert’s father, decides to insult Willy when he hears him call out the name of Santa, waking from a dream. Vicente goads Willy, telling him that his beloved Santa cared so little about him that she married that lawyer, Humberto Cano, the one who put you in jail! This is true of course, and Willy has no way of knowing that Santa did it as part of a plan. He’s destroyed at this turn of events. Vicente says your Santa is una Diabla. Vicente digs the knife in a little deeper, saying, you’ll never get out of here, because NO ONE knows you’re here! Oh yeah, says Willy, Inés knows! And you think your little Inés is so nice, why don’t you ask her who’s the father of the baby she’s expecting?!! Pow! This hits Vicente like a ton of bricks.
Vicente goes back to Inés, asks her, are you hiding anything from me? Of course not, Papito. Okay, how about a DNA test for the baby you’re expecting? Whoa. Inés does not like this idea, telling her father no way, you’ll never put one hand on my body! I was pregnant before, and you had the baby killed! Yes, says Vicente, there was no way I’d allow you to have a baby from that scum Willy Delgado! (This is the first time Vicente has admitted Inés was not hallucinating, she WAS pregnant, and he DID have the baby aborted!).
Victoria shows off her wedding dress to Padre Milton. She’s going to get married soon. But he can tell she doesn’t love Patricio, and says maybe it was a mistake to tell her to give Patricio a chance. Padre Milton is also surprised that Vicky didn’t have faith in the young man she really loved (Iván). He says the age difference was not the problem. Later Pat wants to move up the wedding. Vicky wants a few more months, but this time Pat’s firm, it’s on the date we’ve planned (in a week or two, I think). Period.
Speaking of weddings, Pancho comes to work to find Lucy splayed out on his desk, suggestively posing in a super sexy dress, her tanned legs gleaming. She pulls him to her, and pretty much forces him to make love to her (which he enjoys). After it’s over, she says, so let’s set the wedding date. Wait a minute, says Pancho, despite what we did, we’re not engaged. Why not, she replies, we’ve been living together for 6 months. Lucy, living under the same roof, but in separate rooms, does NOT qualify. Now beat it, I’ve got work to do!
Lisette has been trying to visit Iván in the hospital every day for 6 months, but he’s refused to see her every day. She’s despondent, and tells Hortensia. All of a sudden, Lisette goes into labor!
Patricio, ready for his wedding, doesn’t want any more problems from Iván, so he pays some guys a ton of money to kill him in jail! The guys attack Iván, stab him, beat him, and leave him bloody, but he’s not dead, and is put in solitary, for his own protection. At least the main guard rescues Iván’s little book of love letters. When Pat hears the attempt failed, he tells the guys to finish the job (but it’s not easy if Iván is in solitary).
Lisette is giving birth, but she has a premonition that Iván’s in trouble, orders Hortensia to call the jail and check. Horti reluctantly does, finds out that Iván was attacked but survived, send a message later to Lisette that her son is “just fine”.
And the second the baby boy is born, Arturo wakes up!!! I think they’re in the same hospital. Horti comes to see him, and he starts yelling over and over, Mara, Mara, where’s Mara?!! The nurse says you’ve got to get this Mara, or your son could have a relapse. Horti reluctantly goes and finds Mara, who’s with Lazaro. Lazaro had given her a special 14 week of going steady necklace, really was making progress (despite Mara’s half interest in him), so he’s shocked when Horti shows up. Mara’s eyes go wide when she hears about Arturo!
Santiago goes outside and there’s a guy on the lawn, who says come with me, if you want to live! Well not exactly, but this guy says he knows Santi’s secret, but he’s here to help. The druglord Franco is in town, and wants to kill Santi, but this guy can stop that, if Santi comes with him! We’ll see.
And back in the mansion, Vicente and Bert have a strategy talk. Vicente says to Bert, how long are you going to keep up this farce of a marriage? You know you only married SANTA MARTINEZ to keep tabs on her! Bert replies, I know, but I’m just getting ready for the final blow! And who’s listening in on all of this? Samanda!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if Inés is really pregnant. When she met with Bert, she didn't try to get him to help her like she did before so maybe she is preggers. I think that she and Santi sleep in the same bed even if they don't have sex. I can't imagine how you could fake a pregnancy in those circumstances.
So Lucy and Pancho had sex in his office in the police station! His office must have a soundproof door; I bet Lucy expresses her pleasure audibly. Good thing none of Pancho's staff needed to speak to him while this was going on.
Adriana, thank's so much for your detailed recap. Two hour episodes must be a huge task to write up, and I truly appreciate your commitment. I only saw the second half of the show, so muchisimas gracias. Jose and TC? Sorry I missed that.
Didn't Barbie do exactly what the attorney told her not to do by showing up unannounced at Gris' house and then making a scene at the pizza place?
I like Jethro and Beatriz together. Maybe she'll push Barbie out of his head.
JP is working his way up the Insufferable A$$ List to tie with Tony. JP claimed to love Ester, but of course he's stroking his bruised ego instead of being there for his pregnant wife.
JdNYC said, "Is Esther's baby from artificial insem or is it JP'S but Esther hasn't told him?" J and Adriana - I had the same question back when Ester's pregnancy was confirmed. It would be TN karma for JP to be the father after all his obnoxious blathering about another man's baby ruining their lives.
I can no longer feel any empathy for Rafa. He knows what he needs to do to get back in Amalia's good graces, but he won't do it. And, of course, asking Tony for advice is about the dumbest thing he could do. Interesting that Tony's perception of his role in Rafa's crimes was benign and only a friend receiving favors.
Beth
Hombre - terrific recap - thank you! The seis mes después really moved the story along last night.
It looks like George has been a fairly benign landlord. At least there were no obvious outbursts from the Canos about the living arrangements. I did enjoy George's tossing the family photos off the balcony.
Ivan will only be safe in solitary for a short time. Someone has to get him out!
Begona looked devastated upon hearing about Willy's affair with Dani. I couldn't tell if this was because she cared so much for Willy, or if she realized that the charges against him were true. Santa still has her hands over her ears when it comes to Willy.
Now both Santi and Vicente want a DNA test for Ines' baby. She'll have to get Bert to pay for another faked lab test.
Finally Santa knows that Bert has known who she is all along and has been playing her. Isn't their first anniversary coming up soon?
This story has so many twist and turns and is so engaging, it's too bad the two protagonists are completely forgettable. The rest of the cast, especially Carlos Ponce, keep me coming back.
Beth
wow, thanks so much Hombre,
I remember a scene before the jump where Begona was telling Paula that they should cool it for a while because they are getting too close to being exposed, so I'm thinking the venganza girls decided to lay off, but they really didn't say that.
I guess Humberto has been working hard to get the G-Cano firm back on it's feet.
hmm, Willy is really looking like the bad guy, but are we only seeing his past thru the eyes of others.
and the Santi/Santa scene, didn't he bring that picture to her saying that she and Vicente were the only ones that know about this, and didn't she get upset because he hadn't come to see her in 6 months and now he does, only to accuse her of having something to do with the threat.
wow, triple play with Lisette, she senses Ivan is in danger, has the baby, and Arturo's eyes pop open, all with the help of a thoroughly disgusting Hortensia, who intercepts the baby and only reluctantly lets Lisette have a turn.
so Ivan finally gets a bunk.
I guess I don't mind Santi/Santa so much, Humberto is slowly squashing Santa while his partners Vicente/Ines, are playing Precioso for all he's worth, I can really see their silent pleas for help as they gaze at each other from across the room.
haven't seen willy for a while.
Thanks so much, Adriana. Terrific job on the recap. I did want to mention that what Esther had done is not really artificial insemination. See below:
An Intrauterine Insemination (IUI, also known as Artificial insemination) is a procedure where the semen from the ejaculate is washed to place a concentration of the best of all sperm into a catheter. The catheter is passed through the cervix into the uterus where the sperm is deposited. It is up to the sperm at this point to find their way into the fallopian tube to find the egg to fertilize so that you can achieve a pregnancy.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a process where the ovaries are usually stimulated to produce numerous eggs which are later extracted out of the ovaries via suction. This procedure is done by having “general anesthesia” so you’re fully asleep, but without having mechanical ventilation (i.e. tubes down your throat).
The eggs and sperm are placed in a Petri-dish to allow for fertilization to occur and incubated for three to five days. A few of the resultant embryos are then placed into a catheter and deposited into the uterus with any remaining embryos being frozen.
Of course, in Esther's case the fertilized egg that was implanted was the egg of Beatriz and the sperm of her deceased husband and Alba's beloved nephew.
I suppose it could still be possible that that egg didn't take and she really is pregnant with JP's kid. I hadn't ever thought of that. I hope it's not true, because I want that jackass out of her life.
Not only does he continue to accuse her of being unfaithful by having the egg implanted, but HE'S now been unfaithful twice. I'm rooting for Gabriel.
Deb, thank you for pointing out several scenes I forgot.
I loved the one where Hortensia didn't want to give up her nieto, even to the baby's mother!
More on Marido. As far as I can tell Griselda is planning two parties, one in which she's invited all the condominium neighbors plus her friends from the old neighborhood (housewarming?) and the other party is to inaugurate her Maridas in Alquiler business. I thought Rei said he was coming to the party at her house, which should cause some sparks to fly.
I'm not too excited about the Sol and Daniel romance. Daniel deserves a more mature and sensible person. Wow, they really went with Celeste wondering if Manuel has incestuous feelings toward his daughter. I was on vacation when he moved back home after TC got him out of the slammer, so I didn't know she'd gotten a concession from him to let him back.
Yep, Tony doesn't disappoint, does he? He never really owned his deceits when he spoke with Rafa. And he really doesn't care that much that his good buddy has been dumped. It's always all about Tony.
I'm with you, Beth. I've got no sympathy for Rafa. He behaved like a snake all the way through, up to and including conspiring with Antonio to get Griselda to accept him. Griselda's spidey sense was picking up something off about Rafa, but Antonio helped convince her to accept him.
Vivi, I enjoyed all your thoughts about Marido and am happy you're sticking with our crew! YES, Beatriz can certainly do better than Antonio!
I do think things might be picking up a bit with the two-hour time slot. I'm sure that Fernando overhearing that TC had such a hot time with José is going to have major repercussions for TC. Of course, she may just bump him off too!
I loved it that Max spilled the beans at the pizza parlor. I do think there's going to be some kind of arrangement for her spending time with Kikito, but no way should she have full custody.
I'm about ready to FF>>> every time Ro appears on screen. Last night was just awful. What kind of ghastly masochist have they turned the gay guy into? He goes over the top hysterical when the abusive boss doesn't come home at night. ¡Ya basta!
OK. I guess I'm just weak when it comes to men weeping from heartache. :) I agree that Rafa deserves to be dumped by Amalia and to not be taken back. I don't even think she should take him back if he turns himself in, as she has said she would. But I do have a certain admiration for the intensity of his feelings for her.
Novelera - I love your comment about TC bumping off Fernando! She may just try. I am surprised, though, that this guy who so casually disposed of the NY thug and then was intent on killing Marcela is now feeling guilty about shooting the nurse. It's a bit of a disconnect for me.
Also, when Jose went to Paloma's, I thought he had more dead fish in that black plastic bag. I guess he's going to "sell" TC's dress back to her.
Vivi - I love your new picture. So pretty and the colors are gorgeous.

This music channel has become a hub for telemundo novelas. They are reairing "Niños Ricos, Pobres Padres" "Pasion De Gavilanes" "Relaciones Peligrosas" and "La prisionera" Next monday "¿Dónde está Elisa?" will be on MUN2. Im seriously considering recapping this novela (Since nobody ever did it) If i do please dont give away spoilers if you already saw this.
I see Christian Bach usng her runaway success on La Patrona to get her son, Sebastian, who's very guapo, but not my type, in the front door. Let's hope he's as good as she is. Sometimes nepotism works. I always thought Will Smith's son Jaden is a much more superior actor than his dad.
I haven't watched this one since Gris won the lottery, but I have a much more sympathetic take on JP, as jerky as he is now. One, the actors who play Esther and JP are very good and realistic as a married couple. However, it always bothered me how quickly Esther decided she wanted a baby after meeting Dra Alba and basically ignored JP's feelings. JP is basically acting like a stereotypical Latino man who feels this baby highlights his lack of virility. The way Esther broke the news to him didn't do much to make him felt loved. They should have had the'I want to do IVF, adopt a child convo' long ago, before meeting Dr Alba.
He and Esther weren't childless by choice, which a lot of couples in the US are doing now, but default because he was sterile. JP and Esther then made a deal to work on their career/business and by all accounts, ESP on JP's part, were a happy, childless couple. Ten years down the line after meeting Dr Alba Esther basically says even though the business is good, she's been empty on the inside without a child and said it was JP's fault. I'd be upset and confused like JP who's basically being told by his wife all of a sudden that their seemingly happy
marriage has been awful for her and JP has to get with the program and accept what she wants and basically turn JP into her, accepting something she didn't really want to make her happy.
I basically think Esther should have divorced JP if she'd been that miserable, have the child on her own. You can dissolve businesses and financial ties, but bringing a child into such a dysfunctional relationship is not good to my mind.
The diabolical twists and turns of Santa Diabla continue! Samanda has just overheard Vicente and Bert discussing Bert’s fake marriage to Santa Martinez. They knew about her all along! As Bert reassures Vicente that he doesn’t love Sam, and is preparing some final blow, Sam rushes off to the kitchen to tell her Mom Begoña. Begoña is impactada, of course, and says that’s it, we’re leaving. But Sam wants to stay and fight. Now that she knows that Bert knows, but Bert doesn’t know that she knows that he knows, .........okay, whatever, she’s stayin’. But she’s going to Paula’s house to tell her.
Before Sam leaves, she sort of staggers around the house in a daze, and Bárbara sees her, asks what’s wrong, Sam just sort of stares. Barb tells Bert Sam’s upset about something. And when Sam is telling Begoña the shocking news, little Willy is sitting there. Sam and Begoña are arguing about big Willy’s unfaithfulness again, and just as Bert’s walking in, Sam says, you’ll never convince me that Willy isn’t a good man! Bert says, what Willy? Sam hems and haws the requisite amount of time, then says, why my son, of course!
Paula, Paula, Paula. She looks at a report from an envelope, and turns green. She also feels faint. We viewers know - she must be embarazada! When Sam shows up, Paula just about faints from the news about Bert. Sam wonders what’s wrong, Paula won’t fess up, goes into the back room. Knock on the door, it’s George, with a big bouquet of flowers! What are you doing here? he asks Samanda. What are YOU doing here? she replies. Well, didn’t you know, he says, Paula is my novia, and has been for 6 months! Paula comes out. Sam, glaring at her, says Paula, why don’t YOU explain why I’m here. Um, umm, well, I was ummm feeling bad at the office, and um, Señora Amanda came by to check on me. Thanks, Señora Amanda. Sam leaves in a huff.
Mara is ready to rush over to see Arturo, but Lázaro reminds her it’s only a courtesy call, she can’t deny their relationship, and Mara weakly agrees. Lázaro and Horti are also going. Mara goes in first to see Arturo, he’s overjoyed. For him, it’s as if the accident was yesterday, they’ve been given a second chance. He’ll divorce Lisette! No, sorry, sorry, Arturo, squeaks out Mara, but things have changed. Enter Lázaro. Who’s this guy? My boyfriend. Arturo is deflated, still wants to fight for their love, but Mara is true to her word to Lázaro, and says Arturo’s got a wife and baby to care for.
And what a baby! Lisette takes her cute little newborn (looking more like 4 months to me) in, and Arturo gets to hold him. Art, Lisette and Horti all shed a few tears at the beauty of their creatura.
So what was up with that guy on the lawn and Santiago? As they argue, Santi not believing the guy, the guy insisting he’s going to protect Santi from druglord Franco, we see someone is snapping pictures of them! Santi finally agrees to go to the guy’s hotel room. Santi gets the guy in a headlock, forces him to tell where his gun is, Santi grabs it, points it at the guy. The guy, whose family name is Navarro, shows Santi a newspaper article. He says his brother stole from Franco, and Franco killed the brother’s entire family. He wants to get back at Franco. He knows about Santi and Gloria, but he had nothing to do with that operation (to kill Gloria and frame Santi), and he knows that Santi is innocent. He says if Santi comes with him, he can help. Santi is still wavering, when there’s a flash of light. Someone’s taking pictures of them! Navarro says Franco’s men must be here, you’d better go pack, right away! Santi is VERY conflicted about this, but ends up going home (he lives at Inés’s house, along with Vicente, Pancho and Lucy) to pack.
But we then see that BERT took the pictures, and this whole thing could be a set-up! Bert smiles to himself.
Inés thinks to herself, why did my Daddy want to have that DNA test? I know, Willy must have told him about me! That bum! Two minutes earlier, Pancho had arrived home, took off his badge and gun, left them on the coffee table in the living room, went into the kitchen for some soda or something. Inés comes downstairs, sees the gun, and TAKES it. She zooms over to the cabaña, and confronts Willy. What did you tell my Daddy?! Did you say my baby might not be from my husband Santiago? This enrages Willy. You married a Cano?! There’s no way our baby would be brought up by a family of killers!! Inés, who has been pointing the gun at him, says, then you DID tell Daddy - and at this point the gun goes off accidentally, shooting Willy in the stomach. He collapses in a bloody heap. Inés first thinks he’s dead. She has no idea what to do. She’s about to leave when he calls out, help me, Inés. She turns around.
Later, Vicente goes on his normal rounds to feed the prisoner in the basement, tells Willy, here’s your food, you rat. But unlike usual, there’s no sound, no movement. Vicente turns on the lights, goes down the stairs, and sees a bloody floor, a stack of opened manacles, but NO WILLY. He’s gone!!!!!!
Hombre, thank you for the laughs, as always, your recap was great.
So let me get this straight: Santa knows that Bert knows, but Bert doesn't know that Santa knows that he knows, so she is going to use this against him.... LOL!!!!
Also:
It didn't take much for perfect, stand-up guy Santiago to start packing a bag and decide to leave his very pregnant wife behind, did it?
Bert can play circles around these two idiots without even trying.
And might I add what a hypocrite Santa is when it comes to Paula? Didn't she fall in love (yawn) with santiago 10 seconds after the big revenge started?
George isn't even a real Cano, he hates them just as much and he could even help them down the line... You'd think that knowing his animosity towards her sworn enemies, Santa would have tried to make friends with him... but that takes some smarts, after all...
Great recap, as usual, Hombre.
I agee with you, Adriana, about Samanda's studipity concerning George and Paula's relationship.
At least we know that Ines is, in fact, pregnant. We saw her getting an ultrasound at her OB's office.
How pregnant Ines managed to unshackle and get a badly injured man up the stairs is another question that we will probably have to take on faith.
I assume that Bert is photographing Santiago in response to Ines' request that he find out more about her husband after Santi got the anonymous letter. Vicente knows about what happened with Santi in Guatemala but I don't think he told Bert.
It looked like Vicky came to Ivan's cell but I'm pretty sure that was a fever induced delirium.
It was great when Lisette told Horti off and let Mara hold her baby.
It was pretty careless and probably aginst police rules for Pancho to just leave his service weapon on the coffee table with his keys.
So George has made Babs his "assistant" and he gives her orders like a servant and tells her that he's going out to see his girlfriend. Not surprisingly, she really hates this and asks her Mommie to help her get rid of George like she helped her get rid of Willy. Francisa flatly refuses. She says that Babs shouldn't care about George's piece on the side and should be happy to be George's gofer if that means the family can stay in the house.
Superior, Hombe, gracias
Is Espino's acting improving, now we have blank stare with open mouth & torso back & forth equals shock.
Babs wants Fran to get rid of Geo, has she heard Vicente's basement is vacant?
Not only can Humberto out think SyS, Carlos Ponce can act circles around them. One site said this has been his best performance in a long time, could be reason for moving to Telemundo, better novelas.
Maybe 2 venganzas coming from different directions isn't a bad idea. Although, Geo pretty much got his revenge.
Thanks, Jean for filling in all the stuff I forgot. I think you're right, only Vicente knows the details of Santi's past. That makes the new guy even more of a mystery, because I guess he's not working for Bert, Bert's just checking things out for Ines.
I also agree the appearance of Vicky in Ivan's cell was a dream.
Is anyone doing a recap? I'd be willing to do one a bit later if no one already plans to do one.
I don't know if anyone else is planning a recap, Vivi. It would be great if you could do one. Some good things happened last night, on the up side. But there seemed like 45 minutes of Ro behaving like a gay man with brain damage, so that was not so good.
I'll do a recap Friday night, but can't commit to always doing it. I will commit to every Monday for the duration. I'd like to keep the ball rolling on this entertaining novela. It may be the only humorous one I've ever liked. They usually drive me nuts.
A big thank you to you, Hombre, and also to Deb and whoever else might have done some recapping. I am reading recaps recently, if not actually watching the show.
If it's not too presumptuous to ask questions when you're not investing any viewing time, I have a couple.
Is Lisette's baby Arturo's or Humberto's?
Did Samanda and Humberto ever do the deed after the ill-fated wedding night? Often the female protagonist never does have sex with the "wrong guy" even if she marries him.
your recaps are so good Hombre!
and thanks Jean for your follow up with the smaller details,
I was thinking Humberto got someone else to follow Santiago, but it wasn't very clear, this new guy thingy is still mysterious, I'm glad to see Santiago is pretty good at looking out for himself, and he seems to have the same idea that I do, is there such a thing as a good narco,
but wouldn't the bad guys kill all of Santiago's family as well, so can he really run?
and good to see Pancho is learning not to leave his gun laying around, (and I guess he never followed through with his investigation of Santiago).
kind of odd seeing Santiago pointing a gun at this new narco guy while mrs. Santiago is pointing Pancho's gun at Willy, two very different worlds.
novelera,
Lisette was having sex on/off with Humberto, then concentrated on having Arturo's baby, so it's assumed that the baby is Arturo's but it was never made certain, (some speculation is that the baby is not Hortensia's blood, other speculation is that Ivan is, as Lisette was going with Arturo around that time)
I don't think Santa and Humberto have done the deed since that wedding night, (which kept Humberto running to Lisette) but Santa and Santiago have, which I think Jean was referring to in pointing out that Santa didn't get pregnant.
Novelera, at first I had doubts about Lisette's baby, too, but now I think Art is the father.
While he was still in a coma, Lisette had one scene at his bedside, asking him to wake up, because she needed a friend; then, when she went into labor she immediately thought about him.
Besides, Art did recover from the coma the same time the baby was born and that is always a sign in tns.
I think the baby is his, but problems will come from Horty's obsessive possessiveness, which is already showing. I think Lisette and Art will get a divorce and decide to co-parent and Horty might so crazy she might even try to run away with the baby...
We've never seen Santa and Bert make love after that first night, which I find totally unrealistic because at least at first they were supposed to be happy.
Thanks Deb and Adriana. I was thinking it would be just like Lisette to try to pass off Humberto's spawn as Hortensia's intensely desired grandchild. I thought maybe they might have made that obvious by her cackling to herself when I was neither watching nor reading recaps.
And, the cliché holds true about Samanda not having sex with anyone except the guy she's supposed to end up with.
I gotta say I was dumbfounded that they turned Willy Sr. into a horndog. I guess they had to go there so Santa can end up with Santi.
PART 1:
TC’s Men:
Jose shows Paloma TC’s dress that he ripped off of her, while Fernando listens in. I LOL when Jose tells Paloma it was Barbie’s dress TC came back wearing, by motioning Barbie’s enhanced butt with his hand. Paloma is open-mouthed impactada. Jose leaves happily with a free beer, stuffing TC’s ripped dress in the trash. Fernando grabs the dress, and is ticked off. He heads to TC’s house where he and TC meet up in the sauna. He tries to force her to have sex with him. She’s as stiff and as cold as a block of ice, so he gives up. She says she will pay him for his services, then she ticks him off again, so he tries to have sex with her again. Right in time to Ro to eavesdrop a bit, and bust into the sauna to save TC. Ro threatens to call the cops. Fernando tells him to go ahead. TC of course doesn’t want the cops involved and tries to play the whole thing off with Ro. Ro is confused and wonders if Fernando is TC’s lover (she had admitted earlier to having a lover). They have to think quick, lie, and hide Fer (who has a gun) behind the door when Rei comes home and finds them fully dressed in the sauna. Rei is getting fed up with the lies and strange behavior.
TC, the next day, goes back to Jose’s house, with the excuse of returning the dress, and they continue their mating dance. Little do they know that Gris is on her way to the house to check out what Jose has been doing there.
Sol and Daniel:
Sol and Daniel have a discussion about her future and career. Sol is very clear about her future and Daniel is a part of that. Daniel calls her a girl, although a lovely one. She stops him before he can brush her off. Then she admits that she is a virgin, and she’ll only make love to the man she will one day marry, who will be HIM. Daniel pretty much has no choice in the matter, and it looks like Sol is going to win over her future doctor husband.
At home, Manuel tries to make a stink about what a bad mother Celeste is to let Sol run wild and become a slut. She’s not having any of it.
Ester, JP and Vanessa:
Simon and the other Palmer Gourmet staff tell Rei that Vanessa is seeing JP. Rei is surprised, but admits JP and Ester are separated, and JP and Vanessa are adults, so it isn’t their biz. I think he’s just happy to have Van off his back. Pati is not so understanding about it when Van tells her about her JP relationship the next day. Her loyalty is with her aunt Ester.
Out in his car, Van and JP try unsuccessfully to get it on. The car is too small. Since they both live with people, they decide to go to Fina Estampa to do the deed, where they apparently do it all night. (Really, JP?! You couldn’t afford a hotel room?)
Early the next morning, Ester comes into work and sees JP and Van hurriedly dressing and kissing. She walks out devastated, just as Marcia comes in. Marcia tells JP that Ester must have seen them. He tracks Ester down at Tacos Bar, and makes a scene when Gabe intervenes. Ester at first agrees to talk it out, but later calls JP and tells him it’s over. She’s also going to quit being the designer for Fina Estampa, although she will remain a shareholder/partner.
Simon and Pati:
Simon leaves a beautiful flower arrangement for Pati with Paloma at the boarding house.
Quique and Barbie:
Q goes to see Barbie at the house to talk to her. She tries to seduce him. They fight. He tries to throw her out. She says he can’t, it’s his father’s house. Q appeals to Jose. Barbie makes veiled threats to reveal Jose’s secrets (TC and the treasure), so Jose backs up Barbie and says she can stay. Q later tells Gris, who is suspicious of what Barbie could be holding over Jose’s head to make him support her. She decides to go to the house to investigate.
Rei and Gris:
Rei remembers Pati’s advice to him about not staying with TC for her sake. The next morning, he surprises Gris by showing up at her house. She’s flustered. She says it’s not a good idea for him to be there because she doesn’t want to be accused by TC again of going after her husband. She scolds Rei for speaking badly of TC (really telling the truth about how crazy she is), since she is his wife.
He apologizes, but says that the woman who TC is now, is not the same woman he married. But he would never abandon his responsibilities. When he realized how sick (in the head) TC was, he tried his best to help her, even after realizing that he didn’t love her anymore.
G: What changed?
R: I met you. I met a woman who is solid/stable, sure of herself, brave. Who has a simple but effective solution for absolutely everything. Now I understand perfectly why Gabriel fell profoundly in love with you. You are an incredible woman, incredible. Maybe I shouldn’t be telling you this, but many times I surprise myself, desiring to be with you. Desiring to speak with you, to laugh with you. Desiring to spend more time by your side. Desiring to have you to myself.
By this point Gris has nearly melted into a puddle, so she puts up no resistance when Rei gently reaches for her face and lays a passionate kiss on her. Then she throws herself into it, and they kiss, and kiss, and kiss, and kiss. They kiss so long and so passionately that they don’t notice when Iris and Mario enter, get an eye full, take a bunch of pics with their cell phones, and then sneak out.
Finally, Gris puts a stop to the kiss and asks him to forget it happened. She doesn’t want this kind of problem in her life, and if he doesn’t forget about it and not mention it, she will never be able to look him in the eyes again. She mentions that Gabriel has kissed her many times, and they have been able to put it behind them and be friends. Rei points out that Gabe isn’t exactly on board the “friends” train right now. But then he shows he is the gentleman he is by smiling, agreeing, putting Gris’ mind at ease, and kissing her hand in his special way before leaving. Gris is left obviously shaken and stirred. She touches her lips, remembering the kiss. She remembers Rei’s words. She calls Celeste for advice, and they fan girl squeal about the KISS.
The Bag of Money:
Yes. We have all been worried about that $5million sitting in that bag under Gris’ bed. We wondered how our usually intelligent heroine could be so dumb, especially when those two thieves are working in her house. Well, we underestimated her. Iris and Mario find the bag, open it, and find…bricks! Gris catches them red-handed and laughs at them for not realizing she put that money in the bank long ago and it’s earning interest. She then has the perfect excuse to finally fire them, and kicks them out. Ha! Unfortunately, they have pics of her kissing a married man, that she doesn’t know about…
Vivi, what a terrific recap. Love your writing style.
I thought the scene with Gris and Rei was so very well acted by the two of them. I wish they hadn't had the two ladrones taking pictures, but oh well.
JdesdeNYC, I hear what you're saying, but I loathe Juan Pablo. I don't want Esther to ever go back to him, and I hope he loses a bundle without her designs. Sadly, it's her financial wellbeing as well that will suffer.
Last night, as if JP hadn't already been enough of a coarse lout, he said to Gabriel that he had nothing to do with the pregnancy. Really? As far as he knows Gabe thinks the baby was conceived by the two of them and saying that makes it sound like Esther was screwing around on him!
As I mentioned before, Ro's behavior completely gets on my nerves. I get the definite impression that the idiot would give her an alibi if he caught her with a smoking gun or dripping knife in her hand.
I agree, the bricks instead of a bag of money was just fabulous. Of course, I was wondering before, if they wanted to steal, why not just slit the bag open instead of trying to force the lock.
José really stepped in it with Quique. He was on very thin ice with his son already and failing to help him with the custody issue will cause the already hair-trigger tempered Quique to never, ever forgive him.
I surely would like to know who the mother is of Elio. Did they ever say? He showed up in the novela when I was on vacation, so I have no clue. I'd also like to know if he's older or younger than Quique.
They haven't mentioned who Elio's mom is, nor have they said his age. He looks to be around Quique's age, give or take a few years. But older than Tony and Amalia for sure.
I've figured out the whole Gourmet Palmer/Palmer Gourmet issue. Maybe someone else mentioned it already. The name of the restuarant is Palmer Gourmet, because the name is in English-- like you would say Bob's Restuarant. But, when everyone is speaking Spanish, they say the name the way you do in Spanish-- Restuarante Bob. Hence the change in the order of the name.
part 1
it's night, and it's a FULL moon,

she gives Lucy a big wad of bills for no questions,
they both cut the chains off Willy and take him to a place Lucy knows about,
then Lucy goes out to get what they need to fix him up)
Ines is not only a wacko airhead, but proving to be a very clever and resourceful girl,
she gets the bullet out and stitches him up,
Lucy, being Lucy, is asking a lot of questions,
but when Ines agrees to help her marry Pancho,
she is onboard, partners, they shake on it,
*casa Paula
George wants to know why Amanda left in such a huff,

Pancho, who must have sweat all night, is going to work without his gun,
Lucy, (haha what did she say about him fighting crime)
points it out on the table where he left it,
he can't believe it,
(I don't know how to explain it but you just can't question the truth about anything, when you are around Lucy)
*casa Hortensia,
Hortensia has the baby in her arms,
and a bedridden Lisette is trying to talk her into giving him up so she can feed him,
Hortensia finally says, it's my baby, why do you think I was giving you all that money,
it's business, the baby is mine, throws some more money at Lisette,
*prison
Victoria visits Ivan again,
you are dead to me since you killed my brother,
he begs, and pleads, and reaches for her,
but she is NOT there,
*casa Vicente
Ines, looking for a shoe, finds Santiago's packed suitcase under the bed,
he comes out of the shower, ooo...
she just knows he is running away with Amanda, abandoning her and the baby,
he gently hugs her,
*Trebol de Oro
Victoria sees Transito in the market and follows her back to the Trebol de Oro,
she wants to chat, but Transito is easing her out the door,
Victoria has come to invite Transito to her wedding,
(I thought Transito's eyes were going to disappear, sinking back into her head)
as she recovers, Victoria asks again, but Transito sees the newly arrived Patricio,
giving her a death stare,
*casa Cano
George stops by his daughters room to say hi,
she has a question to ask him, do you have a novia,
smooth George, who is never in rhythm with anyone, answers,
yes, and she is pregnant,
Daniela has her look, like there are just not enough drugs in the world,
she runs screaming from her room, followed by George,
and then by Santa and Begona,
downstairs and into Barbara's arms, who is talking to Paula,
and tells her, loud enough for all to hear, that George's novia is pregnant,
wow,
another baseball bat to the face for Santa...
Thanks for the great recap, Deb. This novela sure keeps moving. I like that even if Santi and Samanda are less than riveting.
I'm sure Ines will regret involving Lucy in her schemes but for now, she is a great ally. It was surprising that they managed to get Willy out of the basement and tend his wound, etc. without getting blood all over their clothes, but whatever.
It was funny when Santi was thinking that Ines' disappearance was due to his secret while it was really due to Vicente's secret, now shared by Ines.
I love how Babs keeps shopping around for someone to get rid of George for her with no takers. It's clear that George really only cares about himself when he told his emotionally fragile daughter that not only did he have a girlfriend but that she is preggers.
This truth serum thing should be interesting. Lots of secrets could get blabbed. In reality, sodium thiopentathol is an anesthetic and dosage has to be done carefully or the person just becomes unconscious. It is also the drug used in some states for executions by lethal injections (Wikipedia).
All i can say is Samanda is now as crazy as Ines. And why did Santiago leave the family long ago? Im thinking he will turn out to be evil.....
Wonderful recap, Deb, your usual clever observations and subtle tongue in cheek style made it terrific!
Vicente's world sure is crumbling.
Ines sure is brazen, I think her father has underestimated her. And she seems to have good surgical skills, too!
The actress playing Daniela is doing an excellent job of playing someone right on the edge of cracking.
Vicky was great, too, blithely following Transito into the bordello, inviting her to the wedding, at least she was smiling for once (wonder if she'll see Pat).
Horti's a monster, of course. I thought the deal was that Lisette would marry Art and get pregnant so Horti could have a nieto. Lisette did all that. That's what the money was for, not that Horti would OWN the child! Of course, Lisette never realized she'd develop feelings for the baby.
Pancho's little jacket reminded me of leisure suits from the 70's. He certainly isn't very threatening (as compared to Carlos).
Santi sort of promised Ines he'd never leave her, but I wouldn't put money on that promise.
Both Bert and Samanda just do not know what they want. At all. But they keep doing these little plans. It's quite stupid, but VERY entertaining for us!
I forgot to mention that Pancho didn't seem to notice that his gun had been fired. Whether or not it would have still smelled of gunpowder, there would have been a bullet missing from the clip. Did efficient little Inés clean and/or reload it?
I'd give Lisette a little more credit. She may have sold her child-making to Hortensia, but I don't think she realized she'd be selling the actual kid. She's not perfect, but she loves her son. And Ivan turned out to be a good boy even if he's too lovestruck by Vicki to save himself.
Did they have a surgery class in Ines girl scout camp? She looked pretty comfortable pulling out the bullet.
Kelly
Just a few things from memory. I'll do a full recap of tonight's episode.
Tía Iris and her perro fiel go to Gourmet Palmer, insinuate like crazy, eat their heads off, and finally show Reinaldo the incriminating photo of he and Gris kissing. They ask for dos millioncitos and are thrown out on their ears.
Manuel has helpfully arranged Sol's recording contract so that all the funds go to an account only in his name. When he blathers on about protecting her, Celeste gets right up in his face and says the account will be changed to Sol AND him when the bank opens or he's going back to jail.
Increasingly rotten Juan Pablo comes to see Esther in the morning saying he wants to dissolve their partnership. If she can't buy him out (he hints the baby cost would wipe her out - the ass), then he'll use his cash to buy her out and she can go on her merry way. Instead of being appropriately delighted and using the money to start a competitive business, she appears sad.
We meet Beto (Alberto) Gabriel's cousin, who's very handsome but rubs Clara the wrong way. This will probably develop into something.
Penny gives Leo the cold shoulder.
Simón sends flowers to Patti and then visits her at the posada. They are getting along very well. Daniel tells Tony about it, and he seethes.
Meanwhile, Tony has dinner with Beatriz and plans a couple of kisses on her. The miserable hypocrite! He definitely doesn't think sauce...gander.
Tía Iris and her accomplice show TC a printout of the photo of Rei and Gris. She's cool as a cucumber, but later rips one of his shirts to pieces.
That's about all I remember.
Oh, they announced that La Reina del Sur will start November 11 in the 9:00 slot, so either Marido moves to 8:00 or it will be over by then. I'm really quite shocked they're going to re-run in prime time.
One more thing, Celeste also said that neither Sol nor Manuel could withdraw money from that account without the other's signature.
Wow! Forgot the best thing of all. Griselda shows up at her old, full of holes house and catches José and TC in bed together. She totally loves in and comes up with a TON of biting comments, smiling all the while.
The upshot was that she said she'd keep quiet if TC came to her housewarming party at the mansion. But TC has planned something awful with Ro.
Perfect Novelera! Thanks for the quick recap. One other major thing happened. Gris found Jose and TC together, in her old bed, in flagrante. Gigante saw TC enter the house and then saw Gris, so he knew there would be trouble and got Gabe. In exchange for her silence about her dalliance with Jose, TC agreed to attend Gris’ party and smile and pretend to be happy and welcoming. Also, it turns out Gigante is an accountant and has now been hired by Gris.
Yes, both Tony and JP were major asses last night. Tony getting upset that Pati was chatting with Simon, just after he had been kissing and wooing Beatriz. And JP, after he has been caught boinking Vanessa in their office, being smug about forcing Ester out of their partnership. You are absolutely right that she should take the money, get far away from him, and start her own company (sinking his).
TC is going to be more dangerous than ever now. She said to Iris that Rei must have wanted her to find out and didn’t care if she found out, since he refused to pay Iris. I think she’s right. Rei wants his marriage to be over, even if right now he can’t bring himself to say the words to TC. Of course, TC is being a huge hypocrite, since she has already had a full blown affair. Oh, and yeah, she’s a murderer. I really hope Gris spills the beans to Rei about TC and Jose when the crap hits the fan about their kiss.
LOL! We were typing at the same time, novelera. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all turns out between Rei, TC, Gris and Jose.
Thanks for the recap, Novelera. I'm currently not really watching, but I like to keep up, and will start again if the show goes back to 1 hour Nov. 11th. Sounds as if lots of things are finally happening.
BTW, the actress who plays Beatriz, Hannaley Suarez, is going to co-host a gossip show, called Suelta la Sopa, on Telemundo starting next Monday, I believe, at 2:00 P.M. each day. She's been in telenovelas since she was about 12 (I think she's 26 now), and I really like her.
Today’s word is “aventón” = a ride or lift. I was wondering the word for this and this show has conveniently been using it. Thanks, show!
TC is at Jose’s tp return Barbie’s piruja dress. Jose flirts and flips his hair like a girl. She doesn’t mind his need for a haircut though. They head upstairs. Jose thoughtfully wants to take a bath first (ick) but TC doesn’t let him (double ick). It’s an aventón of a different sort. TC says she’s there to evaluate his services and it’s a fun little scene of the two crazies getting it on. Elio is downstairs looking for pop, notices the dress, realizes what papa is doing, and he is either gagging or laughing as he leave the house. Hard to tell.
Paty reads the note from the flowers that Simón left. He’s a nice guy.
Tony is not. Even his amigooo Daniel is frustrated with him. Tony is talking about Paty and the old guy waiter and he is refusing to let her go. But that doesn’t mean he can’t make a lunch date and look happy about it when Beatriz calls him. Jerk. Daniel gives him grief about this when Tony says look who’s coming now. And there is Sol. Tony gives her crap and she gives it right back. She’s not impressed by him.
Beatriz, at Maridas en Alquiler, is chatting with Kike about his bad day.
Barbie (the reason for Kike’s bad day) is talking to her new lawyer, who suggests she get a job. Cara de ¿que que what? De Barb. She doesn’t even know how to cut fingernails. The lawyer suggest perfectly reasonable jobs for someone with no skills or work experience, but Barb’s not having any part of that. She doesn’t even know how to clean since she’s always lived in hotels. So maybe that would be the place to look since you know about hotels, because if you want the kid, you’ll have to work. Barb’s not happy about this new development.
Gigante and Fernando drool over Barb, who they call a dangerous woman with a bad combination of seduction, self-confidence, bad character and a dose of vulgarity. Fernando says that what’s vulgar is not having her in his arms. Paloma and Diosa call them out on their vulgarity about the way they talk about women. Gratuitous beach pictures for everyone living where it’s snowing already.
Daniel gives Sol un aventón (the normal kind) to the hostel. Sol stays in the car a bit to flirt and Daniel looks like he’s not sure how to fix this situation. So he goes to the hostel to berate Tony about leaving him alone with the chavita. Tony wants to visit Paty but Paloma tells him to stop looking for Paty and and give her some peace. He stands outside her door and thinks about her while she stares at the flowers from Simón.
BEST SCENE! Gris walks in on TC and José in bed! Caramba! They peak their heads out from the sheets and José tells her it’s not what she thinks. It is and she laughs heartily. TC demands to know how she got in but Gris says this is not important. What’s important is what she saw! El imbecil de Jose and TC cuchiplanchando (making out) in her ex-bad, in her ex-house, with her ex-marido, having sex! And she laughs some more. She tells to continue where they left off, says they deserve each other and leaves the room, still laughing.
Meanwhile, Gigante saw TC go into the house right before Gris and runs to Gabe (why?) to tell him. I guess he’s worried about what will happen when these two get in the same room?
Gris is downstairs looking around the house wondering what Jose is looking for when he comes down the stairs to demand that she not say anything to Reinaldo about this. He doesn’t want her to go anywhere until they’ve talked about this like civilized (since when?) people. He’s trying to convince her when TC starts in as she does and claims she can’t prove anything. Jose starts with “whatever you saw or didn’t see…” But Gris knows very well what she saw (still more laughing) but she’s not interested in them. But then TC harps on seeing her holding hands with her husband (Gabe is outside the door at this point eavesdropping and feeling sorry for himself). Gris tells her they were just talking, but Jose saw too. Besides, TC and Jose were just getting to know each other better. In bed. (It’s not how I network, but ok). Gabe starts banging on the door, demanding to be let in, and TC whines about all the neighbors knowing their business. If they don’t answer, Gabe will beat the door down. Gris laughs. She’s having a great day! Jose is trying his victim thing (Tony is just like his father) and trying to get Gris to promise not to blab. Gris is having too much fun with this but agrees to keep quiet. IF. If TC goes to the party at HER mansion and pretends to have a good time, dance, etc. Deal. Gabe threatens to break in on the count of three, and on three Jose opens the doors. TC has run upstairs to hide and eavesdrops on them. Gabe wants to know what’s going on and Gris keeps her promise. But not before having some fun with TC who can’t say anything without revealing herself. Gigante wants to know where la otra is. He greeted her and she didn’t even look at them. Then he sees Gris and they great each other. She backs this up and says she ISNT” MALEDUCADO. She always GREETS PEOPLE WHEN THEY GREET HER. Gris thanks Gabe for his help but she doesn’t need bodyguards. She knows how to defend herself from that MUSARAÑA MALCRIADA (rude shrew). Jose asks her to lower her voice, please. They finally all leave and Jose heads back upstairs, says “where were we”, and drops his pants, for nothing since TC is not in the mood anymore.
Inés and Mario go to the restaurant with plans to blackmail Reinaldo with the pics they took of him kissing Gris. They sit down at a table, talk to Rei and show him the pics, and want a check with a very generous sum from him. He invites them to his office, where they get comfy and snarf down some food before he comes in to talk to them. They want a check for 2 million dollars. (They really think his marriage is worth that?) Rei laughs. 2 million? Dollars, says Inés. He’s not giving them a single solitary dime and he tells them to get out. “”What the f..? Qúe?”says Inés. Rei says he won’t be played the way she’s playing TC. She must have something strong against her niece, but this won’t work on Rei and he doesn’t want them to step foot in his restaurant again. Inés doesn’t leave silently, shouting in the dining room and they both call Rei a naco. They yell something, I think, about bugs in the restaurant. Paloma, there with Iván, hides behind a menu. Rei leaves. Later, Rei, coming back to the quietest dining room ever, announces to everyone that they aren’t customer but friends. And as friends, he’s going to tell them what’s up- those two were there to blackmail him over a picture and he’s sorry about all the ruckus. “What picture?” says Vanessa, the little brat. Rei apologizes again and offers complementary glasses of champagne to everyone. A real friend would pick up the tab but I suppose champagne is ok.
Gris takes Gabe and Gigante to the shops for them to get the tour. Gabe gets mad when Gris calls him an amigo (ugh) and he leaves in a snit. Gigante says she abuses the heart of the Mexican. She knows. He helps pick up some papers, takes a look at them, and tells her that some of the accounts are bad. What? He’s a “contador diplomero”. So he has a degree in accounting? I couldn’t find a translation for diplomero. He’s been taking classes and the volleyball is just a hobby; he prefers to keep this to himself and not let the posada know. He’d like to give her some advice but she says no. Trabajo is trabajo and she hires him to look over the books.
Penny gives Leo the brush off. Leo runs into Victor the lifeguard , who questions whether he got a new job, you’re not selling stuff on the street? Nope, says Leo . But Victor knows he’s selling drugs and just giving him a hard time.
Alberto, Gabe’s cousin, shows up and he and Clara don’t get off to a good start. They’ll probably end up in love.
Ro and TC talking about he will not be going to the party with her. She wants him to follow her instructions for the grand finale. She’s planning something, which doesn’t seem like a good idea when Gris is still holding something over her. (You think Telemundo is planning on this being the real grand finale and that’s why we have 2 hours a night, to hurry it up?)
Jose is in bed again and Barb comes in and wakes him up to talk. She tells about having to get a job and he laughs at her. She’s going to talk to the hotel they were living in about work. You know, the one that they got kicked out of for not paying the bill. Jose says he’d pay to see that.
Beatriz goes to lunch with Tony and tells him about Guillermo, the love of her life, and wanting to have his child. Tony tries to convince her that she’s better off because it would be so hard being alone with a child on the way. (But he’s probably thinking that he doesn’t like kids and wouldn’t get a chance to sleep with her if she had a baby). He tells her about Paty and Simón, and that she wants to keep her distance. But (twinkly eyes) he’s starting to doubt that she’s the one for him. Jerk.
Paty texts Simón, thanking him for the flowers, and he’s all happy when he gets it.
Amalia and Sol are chatting on the phone about Daniel. Sol is worried that her fans will need her so much that she won’t have time for a boyfriend. Amalia relates this to Kike and they both laugh.
Gris tells the kids about her new contador, Honorio Freitas. Do we know him? Yep, as Gigante. NO! Yes. Looks can be deceiving. She would know. Gigante is telling Diosa and Fernando about his new job (guess he’s decided to let the secret out). Fer say “”You? Working? Are you sick?” And what about volleyball? But since Fer works and plays, Gigante figures he can too.
Manuel has the contract for Sol and she and Celeste are giddy. Until Sol reads the contract.
And here is where my antenna starts to fuzz out. Maybe the neighbors sitting outside are messing it up. They need to go in because I have my stories to watch! So please fill in what I missed. Sorry.
Daniel sees Paty and Simón at the posada and Tony is ticked. Jeez. Daniel tells him they seem like they are just friends. She tells Simón she’s liking this new friendship and he looks at her with googly eyes. Tony shows up at the posada and Daniel stops him from going upstairs. But then Paty comes down and sees him but I don’t think she says anything. Simon must have left already.
Inés and Mario are pissed that no one is paying them! Those traitors! Teresa is getting the photo first thing in the morning.
Celeste talks to Manuel about the contract and he’s doesn’t know why Sol is interfering in his business. His? She just does a little show but HE’s the one working hard. Celeste defends Sol and Manuel gets mad. The money goes into an account in HIS name because Sol will just spend it on short shorts and blusa de zorra. Manuel is her father and her representative and he should guard the money. Celeste doesn’t trust him and wants to know what he’s planning. She wants to go the bank first thing to put Sol’s name on the account and make sure one can’t do something without the other. Celeste is done being a doormat, that’s for sure.
Esther had quit her job at Fina Estampa, but now JP wants to end their association. Either she comes up with the money to buy him out or she sells her half to him.
TC tries to get Rei to stay home but he has customers to attend to. She gets mad and accuses him of having an amante. La cocina Gourmet Palmer. Rei looks relieved. She wants him to come home early and will be waiting up for him.
Inés and Mario show up at the house and TC wants to how much they are going to steal fom her this time. But they don’t want anything. Surprise, sobrina. TC isn’t buying it. They don’t want anything but she is going to need something strong when they show her what they brought. They show her the pic and she does not look happy. But she doesn’t say anything. Inés thinks her silence will be worth gold but she doesn’t react much and they are confused. TC wants to know if Rei knows about the pic. They “assume so” since he saw them with the camera and TC knows they are lying. She knows they tried to blackmail Rei and that he kicked them out. They realize that his mission will be harder than changing the diaper on an elephant. They thought Rei told her about it but no. She’s not tonta. If Rei didn’t want to pay for the photo then she thinks the situation is worse than she thought. Because if he wouldn’t pay, knowing that they’d show TC the picture, then he must have wanted her to know. But she’s angry and rips a shirt or something.
Jose wakes up Barb so she can get going in finding a job. It's his good deed for the day.
I think that’s it. Hope I didn’t miss too much.

Ack! Sorry Novelera! I should have reloaded the comments before posting. Mil disculpas. Lunch at Gourmet Palmer is on me.
Kelly
OMG Kelly! Awesome recap. What you missed when your tv fuzzed out was Tony kissing Beatriz. Yep, kissing her, and then getting mad that Pati was talking to Simon.
Thank you everyone for all the recaps... nobody can ever complain that we don't like this show :))
Vivi, I think you mentioned that you were planning to recap Friday; usually Sue recaps this day...
Sue, are you around?
So.... MARIDO RECAPS
Monday - Novelera
Tuesday - Adriana Noel
Wednesday - ?
Thursday - Kelly?
Friday - Sue? Vivi?
I don't think the show will be over by November, I think I read somewhere that it's supposed to end in January - with 2 episodes/ day for a few weeks, I think it will be December, maybe?
Kelly, terrific, terrific recap!!!
Since I was AWOL for quite a while I was not sure if anyone had said they'd do recaps for any specific days of the week. So I thought last night might need a brief summary to get folks commenting.
Please don't apologize for your recap! We'll split the check at Gourmet Palmer!
Incidentally, do we have committed recapping days for Marido? I said I'd do Mondays for the duration, and I'll do tonight's unless someone else had earlier said Friday was good for them. But I can't commit to two two-hour episodes a week.
Nope. Wasn't planning on recapping Friday. Just did it this Wednesday since I'm on vaca. I'll be happy to do it next Wednesday too since I'll still be on break.
Love this TN
Humberto told Amanda that he was in love with her enamorado not charmed encantada, Wow, great drops, I could have used those many years back, now, who cares? Not the best in a law office.
Willy could have washed his clothe(singular), I saw a washing machine, not a dryer & I don't think he hung them out to dry.
Transito was giving all kinds of body language & facial expressions. How could Vicki miss it. I don't think Victoria is the innocent we think she is, remember we keep getting surprised. That lady has sth up her sleeve.
Pobre Ivan, poor baby is losing it, so sad.
Did Amanda have time to put up all those pictures?
I hate Hortensia, she thinks the baby is hers & is going to raise him to be a little racist??? Arturo, get well soon.!
Yes, I'm around. The World Series (Go Sox!) is wreaking havoc with my viewing schedule. I haven't watched since Tuesday but I'm keeping up via recaps. I will recap tonight's episode tomorrow. And I hope to watch some of the episodes I missed because I want to see Gris discover Jose and TC in bed.
Cuchiplanchando...great word!
Thanks all. Being forced to pay attention to everything is a good way to practice listening. You can out me down for Thursdays.

part 1
*casa Cano
Daniela tells Barbara that George's novia is pregnant,
Barbara turns on George,
Paula excuses herself and heads for the door,
but Amanda cuts her off, exposes her as George's novia,
impacted looks all around,
Daniela runs out,
Barbara heads for Paula but George blocks her,
she rants on, a secretary, then leaves,
Paula insists on talking to Amanda, they go to the home office,
Begona who has been watching walks out,
and there stands smooth George all alone,
but cool,
Paula and Santa argue in Humberto's home office,
you are either with me or against me, a wounded Santa says,
I'm just trying to find some peace, counters Paula,
so you are against me Santa rings out,
and in walks Humberto,
he jumps on Paula, his secretary, for yelling at his wife,
throws her out,
you can't throw me out, this isn't your house, Paula says,
then quits her job at G-Cano, and runs to the arms George,
Humberto follows,
George wants Paula to come live with him,
Humberto glares,
Amanda has returned to their bedroom,
she feels betrayed by Paula,
Humberto follows, asks what her relationship to Paula is,
Santa knows that he already knows the answer,
and remembers how his plan is to keep her off balance,
their little games are now on a whole new level,
they get ready for the party,
each knowing more than the other,
*Trebol de Oro
Patricio hides so Victoria won't see him,
he gives Transito the sign to get her out of there,
Victoria wants her to be the maid of honor,
later in her room Patricio beats on Transito,
ignoring her pleas that it wasn't her fault,
that Victoria was there,
*the new guy's place
(I could use some help on this storyline, who is this guy, what does he want, and where are they going)
Santiago stops by, the new guy puts a gun to the back of his head,
then Santiago turns it all around, holds the gun on the new guy,
the new guy is frantic to get going, where are your bags, he asks,
but first we need false passports, he says,
(Santiago remembers being in jail for a false passport
and now he is going to get one for real, what?)
so they go to this inner city market,
(or Pablo Escobars home town market in Colombia)
and the cashier takes them to a back room and makes them passports,
but when leaving a guy with a gun outside wants the passports, what,
and gets in a standoff with Santiago and his gun,
finally the new guy shoots the bad guy in the leg,
(where did he get another gun)
and sprays bullets all around as they jump in the car and leave,
so they escape back to the casa Vicente mansion,
where Santiago jumps out at the mailbox,
he has a party to go to,
(bond, the name is bond, Santiago bond),
*somewhere
Lucy is tending to Willy,
she is concerned for his fever, checks his wound,
Willy grabs her, but she finally breaks loose,
but she never lets up,
always talking, and always with the questions,
poor Willy,
he isn't saying anything, but he remembers Santa,
who is Santa, now Lucy asks,
*prison
not a good day for Ivan,
Victoria visits him, Humberto as well, then his mom,
followed by Patricio, with Victoria hugging him from behind,
they drop a gun through the food slot in the door,
so he can kill himself,
Ivan jumps for the gun, but it is NOT there,
just like his visitors,
part 2
*casa Vicente
a ragged looking Vicente comes home and gets in Ines' face,
he wants to know if she is hiding something from him,
and she banters back, but neither mention Willy or any facts,
lest they give something away,
but the guests start arriving,
Francisca, Barbara, Humberto, and Amanda
*casa Hortensia,
Lisette is still bed ridden, Daniela has stopped by to see her,
she pours out her problems, George's novia, etc.
she wants to die,
Lisette comforts her,
my parents problems are all my fault, Daniela says,
but as Lisette asks for more, Daniela jumps up to see the baby,
where is he, where is the crib,
he sleeps with Hortensia now,
*casa Victoria,
Victoria calls her brother, Ulises, and talks him into coming for the wedding,
he wants to know if she really loves Patricio,
*casa Vicente
Precioso, fresh from his gangland street life, arrives at the mansion,
Ines hustles him off,
as Santa moves to her freshly poured champagne, with her pill box,
she doses one drink, (I was hoping she would dose them all)
and brings two drinks,
the first for Vicente, the second for Humberto,
Humberto wants to know why Vicente is looking so ragged lately,
did something happen?
slick Vicente says, no, no, everything is fine,
how about the pictures in your office, did Amanda do that,
shrug,
so Humberto tells about the riff between Paula and Amanda,
Vicente goes, you should strike when they are weak and divided,
(always urging other people on)
as Santa is sitting off, alone, waiting for the fireworks,
(we could wonder which ones are the weak and divided ones).
Vicente is getting woozy, Francisca sets him down on the couch,
Vicente says we should always tell the truth,
not always Francisca reminds him,
the phone rings, Ines answers,
it's the recording Santa had of Vicente talkiing to Francisca about their hijo,
it stuns her, Santiago takes the phone, listens,
while Ines runs to her father and says, you two have a hijo,
Francisca deflects the question,
but Vicente calmly stands, yes it's true,
"Humberto is my hijo",
a baseball bat to the face of Humberto,
and Barbara standing behind him,
a hidden smile from Santa.
Wow! What an episode! I have the not-so-important stuff done and when I get back from my mom's I'll tackle la venganza.
Deb, this recap was your funniest yet! I loved Bond. Santiago Bond.
The new guy (the only name I've heard from him was his family name, Navarro) is still a mystery. I think it's all another trap, and Santi will get caught with the false passport, and sent back to jail. Someone is still taking pictures of everything. We saw Bert before with some pictures, but now I'm not so sure. Navarro keeps saying druglord Franco is right around the corner, and Santi has to leave with Navarro, but to where? The only thing that argues that Navarro COULD be legitimate, is that we thought that Texas guy, Alexander Wayne, was scamming George. But HE was on the level. So MAYBE this guy is, too. Or maybe not.
Love that truth serum!
Willy is hesitant to tell Lucy anything. I wonder how he feels now, since Ines shot him, but she also got him out of the basement. I guess very conflicted, very confused (like most of our characters!)
Lisette and Daniela sort of hope one day Ivan will get out, and Dani and Ivan will be a couple. Dream on, gals.
I think that although Transito told Vicky she would be the maid of honor, Pat said to Transito no way are you showing up at my wedding.
Ines is so funny. The blue/grey eyes, the pink lipgloss, the little girl dresses. All so very innocent. NOT!
Great deb, tks
Ines is becoming a favorite.
I haven't watched the episode yet, telemundo doesn't have it up yet. I like to read the recaps before watching so I know better what's happening.
No one in this is what they appear to be. All the good guys are turning to bad guys & vice versa.
Variopinta, you know, you might be onto something with the whole good guys being bad and vice-versa.
I wonder, now that Precioso agreed to fake his passport, is he all set to do other crimes, too?
The moment when he was threatening that Navarro guy in front of the house was the most real I've ever seen him - no pouty face and love sick puppy dog eyes - I loved it.
And does anyone else think this whole running away from the Mafia thing is laugh worthy? Where is the urgency if he has the time to pack a bag, return for it, party with the family... Why didn't he leave very early in the morning? Why does he need a bag to begin with if he's in such grave danger?
I also wanted to mention something about Thursday's episode: did anyone else think the kiss Humberto gave Santa was smoking hot?
I still think Santa is making a mistake in not trying to use George for her revenge. The truth serum plot was good, though.
There is nothing that Humberto loves more than the fact that he is a Cano, the great G-Cano's son - to have that taken away from him, there is no telling what he'll do.
I just think Carlos Ponce is smoking hot.
I was thinking the same thing about Santi, no red, teary eyes for a change. He's not going anywhere.
I'm even beginning to like Geo, although he did kill Gaspar.
I think Santa is being a little hard on Paula.
First, the somewhat superfluous stuff (not in any particular order):
JP requests that Esther sell her share of Fina Estampa to him. She agrees. She then proposes to Amalia that they become business partners. Amalia loves the idea.
Gris, Celeste, Paloma and Diosa check out Gabe's cousin Beto who has taken over Jethro's job at Tacos Bar. Paloma asks Gris how she feels about Reinaldo.
Babs is going out to look for work. José and Elio offer some constructive criticism re: her outfit. She goes to the hotel where she and Max were once guests and speaks to the manger who threw her out for non-payment. He tells her the only position he has open is maid. (Officially it's known as "housekeeping.") She was thinking more along the lines of receptionist. She's insulted by the thought of cleaning rooms and leaves, saying she's never been so humiliated. José talks some sense into her, telling her that if she gets a job, no matter how humble, it will impress the judge. "If you're serious about getting custody of Kikito, you'll take the job." She thinks it over and though she isn't too pleased with the idea of being a maid, she goes back to the hotel and accepts the position. She'll start the next day. When she is alone in the house she decides that she will start looking for whatever José and Elio are trying to find.
The employees of Fashion Motors are locked out because Rafa hasn't shown up to let them in. Susana calls Iván who's ticked off that he has to come in to do this. Later a disheveled Rafa comes in to resign. He had spoken with Amalia at her store and she told him the only way she would take him back would be to for him to fess up to the police. Rafa warns Iván that Susana will betray him if he gives her Rafa's job which gives him pause. Susana already thinks she has the job and starts throwing her weight around: "From now on, mechanics are not permitted to hang out in the showroom." etc. Eddy notes that she no longer refers to Iván as Don Iván.
Gris is getting ready for the opening of Maridas en Aquiler and decides that her maridas are going to wear overalls as she did but theirs will be red to make them look more feminine. Do the maridas have to take any kind of exam? Just wondering because I don't think I would want someone who had just a few hours of training working on my electrical system.
Rafa turns himself in to the police. Iván asks him why he did it when he paid him well and gave him all sorts of privileges. He tells him ambition and envy. But he is determined to pay his debt to society and win back the heart of Amalia in the process. She can do better than an ex-con.
Fernando reminds José about his share in Chino's treasure.
La venganza. How many novelas are based on revenge? Tonight's show had a "novela within a novela." Rosario would call it "La venganza de mi reina Nefertiti."
TC throws the photo to the floor but quickly calms herself. She reaches into her stash and pulls out a wad of cash to give to Iris. She then tells Iris and Mario to disappear. She calmly sits on the bed.
At Gourmet Palmer the staff is getting ready for a very important lunch (actually a tasting menu) for six foreign journalists who are all experts in gastronomy. Reinaldo asks Simón if TC has called but he tells him no. Reinaldo is relieved because he wants everything to go smoothly. Fat Chance.
Iris remarks to Mario that she may have gone too far with the photo. She doesn't think TC will be able to handle it. Mario tells her she isn't worried about TC's health. He thinks they should take their money and go while they can.
TC flashes back to the conversation she had with Reinaldo when he asked for a separation. She had offered to put the restaurant in his name if he stayed with her. He refused, saying it's her restaurant. TC now knows what she must do.
At their pre-meal meeting Reinaldo congratulates Fred whose wife is expecting twins. Reinaldo is going to pay the downpayment on Fred's house. Reinaldo announces that it's an historic day for Gourmet Palmer. They have outdone themselves with the tasting menu. Matilde comments that it should being in lots of tourists because the journalists who are coming are all foreigners. Reinaldo says money is no object and Simón says that could only come from the mouth of a millionaire chef. Reinaldo dismisses the staff and exhorts them to work as they always do–in a top-notch manner.
Ro's worried because he hasn't heard a thing since Iris left. Elsa figures the witch killed TC. And then they hear TC summon Ro without shouting and without insults. Ro feels this is a bad sign. He goes up to her room. "Are you sure this is what you want me to do?" "Absolutely. Pack up everything of Reinaldo's. I don't want anything to do with him in this house, not even the dust from his shoes. Don't go to any trouble (esmerarse). Just stuff it into the suitcases and if you run out of those, use trash bags." She leaves. Ro is so shocked he has trouble breathing and is nauseous. (NOTE: I love TC's outfit.)
Manuel is unsure of TC's request to take her to the restaurant at this time of day but she confirms it's what she wants. He asks her if she's felling well and she politely tells him she's fine. When he goes to get the car she calls Fernando to tell him she has another job for him. She will wait for him at the house.
Ro wonders who's going to take care of Reinaldo's clothes. He calls Pati to inform her that her parents are separating. She calls the restaurant to find out what's going on. Simon says Reinaldo is very busy right now. Pati insists and he starts to go to the kitchen but just then TC arrives. She orders Simón to gather the staff. He makes the mistake of putting his phone on the table. Pati is till on the other end wondering why it's taking so long to speak to Reinaldo. Simón tells Reinaldo about TC's request. He thinks she's gone absolutely nuts and Simon tells him how strange it is because she is so calm and he's never seen her like that before.
Reinaldo asks TC what's going on and she says he'll find out when the rest of the team is assembled. He protests, saying the restaurant will be opening for business soon and he can't interrupt everyone's jobs. She insists; she has an announcement for the whole staff. He starts to tell her about the special tasting menu but she isn't interested. "What I have to say is much more important." Reinaldo has Simón gather the staff. TC notices the phone on the table. She picks it up, hears the voice, and hangs up. Then she turns the phone on so Pati gets a busy signal. The staff gathers. "OK TC, what is so important?" She tells everyone to go home. Simón protests, "But we open in five minutes." She makes her announcement: "There won't be any more lunches or dinners or anything. Gourmet Palmer is my property and I'm ordering it closed…for good."
Everyone is incredulous. Here's the blow-by-blow:
TC: "You heard me. So kindly pack up your things and leave immediately."
Simón: "But you can't just close the restaurant like this. This is Gourmet Palmer."
TC: "I know it's Gourmet Palmer."
Matilde: "But we're expecting six…Reinaldo tell her what this means."
TC: "Matilde, not to worry. I know who they are and why they're here. But it doesn't change anything."
Worker: "How long has she wanted to close the restaurant?"
Reinaldo: "OK everyone back to work. Simón…"
TC "Pardon me? I don't want to repeat myself. The doors of Gourmet Palmer are now closed and will remain closed. So do what the owner says and go home or go wherever but leave the premises immediately."
Reinaldo: "TC, lets discuss this calmly."
TC: "I am calm. Or haven't you noticed?"
Reinaldo: "Let's go to my office. We can't talk here."
TC: I have nothing to say to anyone here, not even you."
Reinaldo: "You can't come here five minutes before opening and close the place down without saying why."
TC: "I'm not doing anything that I don't have the right to do."
Reinaldo: "You don't have anything to do with the restaurant."
TC: "Oh yes I do. According to the law I'm the sole owner. You should have signed those documents when you had the chance."
Reinaldo: "You must have a sick motive for doing this."
TC: "I don't owe you any explanation, not here, not in your office, not anywhere. Between the two of us there is no more to say. The rest of you–either you let me close the restaurant or I call the police. Which is it?"
Pati keeps trying to call Simón but gets a busy signal. She tells Vanesa that she thinks something bad is happening at the restaurant. She decides to go over there. Vanesa goes with her. Nosy Antonio asks Ellen what's up. She isn't sure but she thinks it has to do with Pati's parents.
Hmmmm. There was more to Friday's episode, and I'm wondering if, having reached 100 comments, the rest of it went into the next 100 section. But I could not find the link that I remember being there to go past the comment limit. I'll post this and see if the link shows up.
Well, that wasn't it. My comment showed up. I have a BUNCH of Saturday afternoon errands to do and desperately need to get moving, so I'll wait until later to do more commenting.
Thanks so much for your fine recap, Sue!
One thing I remembered is that Barbie's brain, which works best when there's a profit motive involved, hit on the truth. José and Elio don't really know exactly what they're looking for. She thinks she'll find "it" before they do.
Reinaldo says what TC is doing isn't fair considering all the work that he put in to make Gourmet Palmer a success. And he mentions all the people who are losing their jobs. TC counters that this is justice. She goes off to HER office, sits behind the desk and looks very satisfied with herself. Hey, ruining people's lives. It's all in a day's work.
Reinaldo is sitting at one of the tables when Matilde and Simón come out. Reinaldo then realizes that Iris followed through on her threat to show TC the photo of him and Gris. He goes to the office. "You saw the picture." TC pretends that she doesn't know what he's talking about. Reinaldo is convinced he's right. "Iris tried to blackmail me but I wouldn't give her a cent. So she did what she threatened to do." TC again denies knowing anything about this. She says their marriage is over. He tells her she's acting like a spoiled, badly brought up child.
The staff is in the dining room and Reinaldo advises them to wait for a call. He apologizes for his personal problems causing so much distress. He promises that Gourmet Palmer will reopen and says goodbye to everyone. He goes back to the office. TC asks him for the keys. He gives them to her and she leaves.
When Pati and Vanesa arrive, TC is alone in the dining room. Pati demands to know what's gong on but TC won't discuss it in front of strangers. Vanesa goes outside and calls Ro who says he isn't sure what happened there but at home everything is in ruins. Pati wants to know why the restaurant is empty and where Reinaldo is. TC tells her she doesn't get an explanation because she left the family of her own free will. They argue some more and Pati leaves. Manuel asks if there is anything he can do. She hand him the keys and tells him to turn out the lights and lock up.
Pati calls Reinaldo who is in his car. They agree to meet at Fina Estampa. There he informs her that the marriage is over. He tells her that he feels a sense of relief. JP tells Reinaldo that he will always be his friend. Marcia tells JP that Esther has arrived. JP explains to Pati and Reinaldo that Esther is selling her share of the business to him. Pati is sad to hear that they are separating too.
TC arrives home and asks Ro if he did what she asked. "Yes I packed up all of your husband's…" "Ex-husband." She goes upstairs. Elsa goes crying into the kitchen. No more omelets for you! Ro goes to TC's room to ask her if she needs anything. "I need you to be mummified for 5000 years." He goes into an explanation of why that won't work and asks if he can do anything else. "Leave me in peace. I don't want to hear any more of your blithering until tomorrow."
Reinaldo pulls into his driveway at the same time Gris pulls into hers. He goes over to her and talks about his bad day. "I fought with TC, and she closed my restaurant and threw me out of the house." Gris is sorry to hear that. Kikito comes out and interrupts them. Reinaldo goes into his house and finds his things in the living room. Ro apologizes and says he didn't think TC was capable of doing something like this. Reinaldo tells him it's not his fault. They pack his car and he leaves for a hotel. TC watches from a balcony and Gris watches with Kikito from across the way.
And now, further proof that TC should never see the light of day:
TC meets with Fernando in the sauna. "I knew the lady would be back to ask me for something. What is it you want me to do?"
"Burn down the bigotuda's house with the whole family inside. I want to see those horrible people burned until they're carbon."
May I say that I was open-mouthed for that last scene?
You're right Novelera, there was more. I hadn't finished yet. These 2-hr episodes are killers!
Sue, thank you for the tour de force!!!
2 episodes ARE a killer, indeed!
You did a great job choosing what to focus on.
I have to say I'm impressed with TC's reaction after seeing the picture. Most telenovela women would cry, whine, cling, but not Teresa Cristina Palmer - she's a special kind of vicious and her criminal tendencies are really getting out of hand.
Oh, and Monday is a doozie of an episode!!!
Excellent recap Sue, of a pivotal episode. It feels like we are headed into a new chapter now.
I would add just a bit more to the Rei conversation with Pati. He admitted to the photo of him and another woman in a compromising position, but wouldn’t tell Pati who the woman was. Then he said that TC just did what he didn’t have the guts to do—end their marriage that had died long ago. He also admitted to feeling relief. (You could see the relief on his face by the end of the episode.) I thought it was important to mention that Rei didn’t make TC look like the only bad guy and fessed up to his role in the whole mess. Of course, TC was over the top cruel in taking away the jobs of all those people in the restaurant just to spite Rei.
I wish he had told Gris why TC kicked him out, because she could have told him about TC and Jose. Not that it seems that Rei feels guilty about their kiss, but it would put things into a bit more perspective and give him a bit of leverage over TC, if he knew she was boinking Gris’ ex. Paloma can also give him this info, so I hope this happens Monday.
Not that I have a high opinion of Fernando’s morals (he’s a killer after all), but if he attempts to kill Gris and her whole family, people who are in his friends’ circle, I will be very disappointed.
Speaking of criminals, I agree that Amalia can do better, but she loves Rafa. I believe he is sincere in his regret and his desire to become a better person for Amalia. Very different than Tony, in all of his attempts to win Pati back.
Sue, thanks so much for Part 4! Your recap was great.
The scene where JP and Esther conclude his buying her out was very well done. They were both obviously very, very sad and struggling to keep from crying. Not sure where this is going, but I'm sure JP's going to be up a creek without Esther's designs. I'm happy they went with her joining forces with Amalia and not spending episode after episode missing Fina Estampa.
Well, we can be sure Griselda and her family are NOT going to become crispy critters. It remains to be seen whether the mansion survives. It's interesting the way TC has reacted to this whole thing. I was wondering if discovering José as a sexual outlet had something to do with her apparent willingness to write off her marriage. She's cold as ice and not the least bit hysterical.
Also, she's gone so completely to the dark side that she doesn't even seem to care that she's torpedoed her relationship with her only child as well.
It occurs to me that, in the real world, Reinaldo would be able to get a financial backer to relocate he and his staff to a new space in about a NY minute. They've definitely emphasized that Gourmet Palmer had risen to the highest level in Miami.
I think Amalia and Rafa will make it in the end. Once he serves his one or two years in prison, they'll be together for sure. I thought otherwise when he was still deceiving her, especially sleeping with Susana. But he's definitely learned his lesson.
TC is ridiculously hypocritical. She's full on boinking Gris' ex, and all Rei did was hold Gris' hand and kiss her and TC is flipping out and wants to burn down gris' house?
I think what TC wanted was REI to beg her and basically act all grovelling like Ro, and REI just shrugged and left.
Thanks so much, Sue, for the recap! I don't know how you recappers do it with these double-length episodes. I have a hard enough time just finding time to watch the whole show. After all this time I'm still kind of furious at Reinaldo for not signing those papers to take ownership of the restaurant--he knew how crazy she was and the had a responsibility to his staff to make sure their livelihood was safely in his hands rather than the hands of a lunatic.
But anyway, I felt Juan Soler played Reinaldo's indignation and initial devastation very well. There was no overacting, no soap opera cliches--instead we just saw the realization of what was happening come over this face. I also liked the different good-byes with each of the restaurant employees. And then of course the relief that he was showing by the time he was talking to Patty at Fina Estampa.
And this gets at what I like about this show. It's got what I like best in telenovelas--likeable people reacting realistically to absurdly dramatic situations. TC is an over-the-top cartoon character, but most of the people around her respond to her in a way that makes sense.
But I agree with novelera's point above--if Gourmet Palmer is such a hit, Reinaldo should be able to make a few phone calls, get new backers, and be opening up a new restaurant in a few months. Yes, it may have taken him years to build up Gourmet Palmer, but the reputation travels with him now. One little touch of realism I would have liked to see--Reinaldo and the other chefs should have made a point of taking their knives with them. (Of course all I know about this comes from the show Treme, but it seemed to make sense that professional cooks would each have their own knives.) And did Simon's suit belong to the restaurant?
Thanks, Jean, for reminding me. I remember we went over the limit once and I could not remember how many comments triggered that need to click something to see the rest. Good to know it's 200!
Since these two hour episodes necessarily require 3 or 4 postings to get it all in, I thought I might share my method.
I type my recaps in Word and have calculated that approximately one page of single-spaced typing, with spaces for paragraphs in between is about right for the length of a comment. If you push it, you can get maybe 10 or 12 more lines on a following page in Word before Blogger says you've exceeded the space limit.
I then copy and paste each part, one after the other, into Blogger. This results in all the parts of the recap appearing within a fairly short period of time.
wow, thanks so much Sue for the detailed recap,
and especially for adding some of the dialogue.
and I love everyone's comments as well,
so how many pairs of glasses does Ro own?
I don't know why Rafa went to jail, rather than going to Ivan first, because isn't he leaving Ivan holding the bag for everything he's done, aren't they going to contact all of the victims. It would have been much better for Ivan to have had a chance to make things right with his customers first.
Barbie hanging out with Jose is cracking me up, like when she flips her hair, like he does.
thanks everyone for your comments,
ay Hombre,
loved your description of Ines, I'm glad the writers gave this character some depth, and Ximena Duque is so good with this part.
ah yes, didn't Patricio tell Transito something like if she ever sets foot in that church it will be for her funeral.
so Willy is no longer in chains, will he be disappearing again any time soon? (what a loose cannon for so many people) and we only know him in the eyes of others, but if it's true, will Lucy be his next lover. (I hope she at least does something with all that hair glued to his head). And what about his son/daughter (will Ines ever tell us which), how will that affect what he does, and what about his double, Santiago, who has been standing in for him, with his ladies.
