Weekend Discussion: Feliz dia de las Brujas!
Who else is partying for Halloween? I'm at parties tomorrow and Saturday and invited for a third one next Wednesday.
Labels: weekend
I love it..."Jessica Rabbit" types! One of the local Spanish radio stations here is always, and I mean always, making fun of Ninel Conde. I don't this know anything about this actress other than what I am getting out of context, but what they say is so funny.
Another good topic! I will have to think about this one. I'm just so limited in that I don't know too many of the novela actors, but maybe I can come up with something.
Fatima
Fatima
My favorite Halloween movies usually have Vincent Price in, he's so fun to watch, but I don't know anyone else who can camp it up like he did (if anyone has seen someone I'd like to know)
Jessica Rabbit types, I never thought of it that way but now you mention it, it sounds about right
I know David Zepeta is a hero now but I always thought if he grew a mustache he'd look just like Sindely Wiplash (though I know that's not halloweeny)
That one actor, whose name eludes me (I'd have to look on imdb) would make an amazing Dr Frankenstein, he looks super creepy, or maybe I just think that because he already played a mad scientist on Sortilegio
I have one for all the other commenters The Lost Boys tn style I'm thinking Eugenio Siller in Kiefer Sutherland's part but who else?
Her body could be described as pneumatic. Huge bosoms, enhanced derriere and looks about as realistic as Jessica Rabbit.
Mad Scientist: Manuel Ojeda (currently Ernesto in LT); Cesar Evora (his awesome evil laugh)
Frankenstein Monster: The guy who stabbed Pati in PEAM; Roberto Ballesteros
The thing is that, as an adopted ''tradition'' now we have more days to celebrate. And I mean adopted, because kids love it. More candy!!
31 Oct. Halloween
1 Nov. Day of the dead (children)
2 Nov. Day of the dead (Adults)

For the Brides of Dracula, I'm thinking of the waitresses in Que Bonito Amor.
For Dracula himself, you could go a number of ways: younger or older, classic good looks or not necessarily conventional good looks but still charismatic and somehow attractive. A lot of actors actually come to mind: Ivan Sanchez, Marcelo Cordoba, Sergio Sendel, David Zepeda. Rogelio Guerra, Enrique Rocha and Cesar Evora in their prime. If you wanted to go with an older actor Cesar Evora would still make a fine Dracula, especially with that hypnotic voice. Manuel Landeta, with or without hair, is another actor I think would do well.
I'm a fan of Val Lewton movies and I think a number of them would make good telenovelas, especially the original Cat People and I Walked with a Zombie (the movie is a lot better than the title!).
One time when I was recapping Cuando Me Enamoro, the character Constanza got bonked on the head and she was all bandaged up. She looked exactly like the head in The Brain That Wouldn't Die so I added a picture of the bandaged up lady head (aka Jan In The Pan) in my recap. The resemblance was amazing.
Televisa has lost it. Even when all TV Networks do bad from time to time, I doubt Televisa can come up with something good.
Televisa needs to get rid of all, and I mean all people who, disguised as producers and directors, are only after the quick buck, selling themselves to announcers and such.
I will never be a tv producer, because if I were, I would never have anything to do. I wouldn't hire prostitutes that call themselves actresses, people with visible plastic surgeries, people who live off scandals, and I would never do remakes. It's sad but it's true. The only reason Televisa keeps making this TNs, is because they sell them worldwide. And that doesn't mean they are that good, but proves that people will watch anything, anything!
Capt. Sharkbait, I'd have thought you'd nominate Cupertino's own Aaron Diaz as Dracula.
I second the nomination of Aaron Diaz as Dracula. Woo hoo.
I like Daniela Romo for Charlotte in Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte. (Of course the original was played brilliantly by Bette Davis).
Mike, forklift, OMG. Hee hee hee. Raising a glass to you Emilia and the lovely grandbabies.
Pablo, love hearing the Mexican perspective on Halloween and El Dia for both kids and adults. We have large El Dia de los Muertos celebrations in our local community.
What a fabulous tradition.
Elna June
Well, howdy, Elna Jung!! Good to 'see' you otra vez and I hope you're doing well.
That would also need Altair Jarabo as Lucy, Sylvia Navarro as Mina, Sebastian Rulli as Jonathan Harker, and Jorge Salinas as Dr Van Helsing.
What a great topic. I wasn't able to comment until now, but how about "Rocky Horror Picture Show" with Marcelo Cordoba as Dr. Frank N. Furtur? It would be a hoot.
