Corazon Indomable, #136, 11/19/13 Portrait of a lady

I was dreading this episode, but I actually found it quite ok and fast paced (But keep in mind this is Corazon Indomable, so don’t expect too much).

Rehash from yesterday:

“Me rindo ante este amor!”(I surrender to this love) – MC says in a completely anticlimactic way and this line reminds me of a similar one said by Camila in Amor Bravio, during her much awaited and perfectly timed reunion with Daniel (Me rindo ante ti, me rindo ante mi, me rindo ante este amor – SWOON!) – Needless to say, when MC says it, it feels so flat to me, that I’m upset they’d use such a powerful line with this travesty couple.
MC and Tav still have a smokin’ chemistry and that’s so sad, because the direction of this scene didn’t do them any justice – their kiss has no spark, this is not a reunion kiss!

The new stuff:

MC is going to Mexico, Tav is staying behind for a while to make sure Simona is getting better (or dies once and for all); then he’ll join MC and Lupita to the city.
So, El Chulito and La Salvajita say one final farewell and then each goes their own way.

Tav tells Migreedy that he plans to go stay with Simona during her operation and after that he‘ll reunite with MC. Migreedy is pissed, when MC leaves the ranch he tries to convince her that Tav will never lover her, he can only love himself.
But, unlike the 130 episodes we’ve had to endure so far, today MC is willing to risk it all for love, open herself to the possibilities their future holds; she also wishes Migreedy to meditate on all the bad things that he’s done. Adios para siempre, she adds.
Good riddance to bad rubbish would be more likely, but MC has more class than I’d have in a similar situation.

Tamaulipas/ Simona’s Hospital

Tav has arrived at Simona’s hospital, he’s very restless and she feels that something is wrong. That’s obviously because the poor idiot can’t hide his real intentions of fleeing as soon as Simona is out of surgery, but he tries to hide it by saying that he’s sure everything will work out fine; he’ll be there during the operation, then leave for the ranch during the recuperation and be back for her once she’s ready to leave.
Simona doesn’t understand this twisted plan and realizes Tav’s little brain is hiding something, but he keeps mum in his own, barely effective way.
During Simona’s operation, Tav is in her room, anticipating the moment when he gets to leave and reunite with his beloved.

A few days go by and apparently Simona is recuperating very well, so Tav now plans to go back to the ranch, where he left a lot of pendientes hanging. When he’ll be back, they need to talk about something very serious, though, which causes some stress to Sanemona, but he covers again, in the same barely credible way.

In the meantime, back at the ranch, Migreedy is up to no good, as always. He’s determined to stop Tav from joining MC in Mexico once he gets back from the hospital, so he enlists Ofelia’s help in finding him that special telenovela powder that would give him a fever high enough to keep Tav stuck at the ranch until Simona is back.
He wants to do this out of the goodness of his heart, of course, because Simona has done so much to help them all, it’s only natural that he’d return the favor by drugging himself – well, I guess it’s better him than Tav.

Anyway, when Tav gets back to the ranch, he finds Migravely ill, in his bed, “hallucinating”. The charade goes on for several days, the doctor Tav called says there is nothing wrong with the guy physically, so Tav concludes he has to be depressed.
He wants to go to Mexico as soon as possible – cue for the first Reunion Monologue in what I believe will be a long series, but he can’t abandon his brother in his time of need, so he does what he does best – look helpless and wring his hands a lot.
In the meantime, he reads Simona’s letters to Tavito; she is recuperating very well and she seems to be in a great mood.

And that’s all because of Dr. Danilo Parma, the one who operated on Simona and took care of her recuperation. Apparently they are now good friends, good enough that Simona would confide in him: she and her husband don’t have such a great marriage, he never truly loved her. The operation didn’t only remove her tumor, but cured her spirit, too, now she sees things more clearly and realizes that before she was sick with jealousy. Spending time apart from Tav made her realize she doesn’t miss him at all, she only misses her son.

JA is upset that the property Simona offered Esther is too far away from the main house and on not so fertile land. He lets Esther know that MC left and Miguel is sick, thinks that everyone is happy MC is gone, but surely, Tav is not.

Mexico City

Upon arriving in the big city, MC’s first stop is a park, where she buys Juanita and Lupita sweets. They make plans about finding a place to live and a job for MC – Juanita would like to work, too, but for now MC prefers for her to stay home with Lupita. I don’t really understand, but shouldn’t Juanita have a salary, also?
So, they are in the park, wondering where life will take them until Tav comes to join them and make everything right (MC’s words, not mine), when a dashing man approaches MC. As it turns out the new guy, Alfonso Del Olmo, is a painter and when he finds out MC is new in town and in search of a job, he says he’d like nothing more than to have MC pose as his model.
She is at first reluctant to listen to him, but he’s charming enough and she needs to work. So she accepts his business card and promises to get in touch with him.
While MC shares the good news that she might already have a new job with Juanita, the painter gazes from afar – he already looks smitten.

MC finds a hotel for the three of them, but the room is very strange: it has windows that offer no privacy, since they face a filled with people hallway, has only one bed (are they all supposed to share it?) and a big ass couch right in the middle, almost making it impossible to get to the door.
Moving on…

The next day MC visits Alfonso, the painter, who has an artsy type of studio/ house/ whatever.
He’d like to paint her in the nude, but MC is absolutely against the idea. She’s not a model, she’s just a normal woman, after all. This prompts him to offer her another job, taking care of his house and maybe also posing for him, because he wants to paint her portrait.
MC agrees to this and after she leaves, Alfonso takes notice of how interesting she is: so pretty, but so honest at the time, tiene fieresa, clase, caracter, (she has fierceness, class, character) and most importantly, no trata seducir (she’s not a flirt).

A few days go by, the same days that Simona is recuperating, I would assume. MC keeps going to the painter’s house, doing the chores and posing for the portrait. She tells Juanita he treats her very well; besides she learned to treat all kinds of people while working on Isla Dorada.

Alfonso is with a punkish looking girl, another one of his models, apparently. He’s not in the mood for work today, he spent the entire week painting another woman, someone who is quite special. They start to ramble about the possibility of a poor woman also being honest; their conclusion: if such a woman exists, she’s hard to find.

At the hotel, MC is thinking about Tav and that soon enough they will be together again – cue for her first Reunion Monologue.

Alfonso, his woman friend and the guy who was with him while he first met MC the first time, plan to go to the theatre that night. Alfonso tells his guy friend that the woman in the park started working for him and she’s very special, different from the rest.
The friend thinks she’s only playing a part, but Alfonso feels she’s genuine and he already knows how he’ll call her portrait: Mujer estraña – Strange Woman (How creative! NOT!)

Later, with MC, he lets her know that tonight he doesn’t need her to fix him dinner, because he’ll be eating with his prometida – he doesn’t love her, but his parents are forcing him to marry her because he’s a poor painter and they have all the money. Ni modo, if he ever has the opportunity, he’ll try to break off the engagement, but for now he has to hurry to dinner.
This guy sounds like a keeper, a little Tav in training.

Previews:
Alfonso and MC talk about her being divorced
Simona returns home with Dr. Danilo; Tav and Migreedy notice they are very close
Nazario (!) remembers that he has a venganza to finish
Tav wants el divorcio!

The recap needs some more editing, I'll get to it later today, since now I have to go fight with some tax agents (dreading it).

This was great!! No worries on editing. And good luck with the taxes.

Brandon Paniche...need I say more.
How did all these wonderful guys wind up in this mess??

I wish Miguel would have some serious illness and just kick the bucket already. And what the heck happened to his son? Did the monkeys forget he exists? Who is there to take care of him if Ofelia is running around...sorry, I'm thinking logically and that doesn't apply here.

Daisynjay

Looks really good to me.

Well, during Simona's brain operation one of the two doctors says to the other (in English cc's) "be careful." Struck me as funny. Are we to assume he wasn't?

Took awhile to realize that the actor playing the 'painter" is the the brother from Un Rufugio Para El Amor that suffered a rock climbing accident an acted in a wheel chair the entire novela.

Thanks Adriana. I was going to try and watch this last night, but as soon as Miguel started trying to poison Maricruz' mind, I knew I didn't want to spend my evening listening to that kind of dialogue.

Are we heading towards a happy ending for Simona? A new love...and with a doctor? Works for me. NEXT!

Poor Juanita. She's a cute young gal with NO LIFE. Just sitting around with a young child all day...no boyfriend, no girlfriends to socialize with. It's like she's been buried alive with this nanny job. She's the only one I actually feel sorry for....other than our recappers!

Thanks Adriana, for being a good soldier and sticking with this. Didn't look like it needed editing at all.

Thanks, Adriana Noel, for the recap. It looks fine to me, too.
I especially liked "a little Tav in training".

Yeah! Maricruz is back in DF. Previews: Dr. Danilo might be the answer to Ocatvio's prayers.
Nazario is still hanging around!

I dont want to see, that in the end Simona is happy with her new love. Once again, be bad girl and life will praise you. And by the way, they had church wedding. What about this?
And I hate how Romero always moves the plot. Nazario forget about his promise, but when it's time for Octavio to leave the rancho and there is no need in Miguel now, he suddenly remebered that he wanted to kill Miguel. Really?
Too many new people. Should I remeber their names?
Alegria

Great recap! At least they got a guy age appropriate to play MC's new love interest this time.

So Simona has woken up, has her senses back and has a cute doctor after her. Some people have all the luck ;)

How convenient for Nazario to suddenly remember he hates Migreedy! Not like he hasn't known where he's been living the last 50 episodes! Hope we see the end of Migreedy soon! Then on to JackAss too.

Great job Adriana. It's perfect, as is.

I was literally starting to snooze off while watching this episode, and then Brandon Peniche showed up and I immediately woke up! Not like the writers will ever let MC develop any feelings for another man, but this is the best competition Tav has had so far.

I have for a long time thought that Simona's transformation to a raging b!tch came from her tumor. Glad that now that the tumor is gone, she's seeing things more clearly and possibly has a new (real) love in the form of a nice doctor.

Yes. That hotel room was really odd! Like the hotel just stuck a bed in the lobby (which looks into the café).

Thanks, Adrianna! Another painter, hmmmm? Maybe Natrasha will return and scoop up new painter guy before he can try to get under MC's skin! Doc brain surgeon can have Simona, Ewwwsebio's twin can send Migreedy to that big rancho in the sky and let's see what MC and Tav do to screw up the opportunity to be together.

Lila

Excellent, Adriana. I also rather enjoyed this episode. Who would have guessed that moving from the open scenic countryside to the sprawling polluted confines of Mexico City would be like a breath of fresh air? What a weird room they've rented... people eating just the other side of the window? Yikes!

Maricruz managed to crack me up when she told Alfie that she could cook for him. Does anyone recall having seen Maricruz ever cook anything? I certainly don't remember any cooking lessons during her makeover and education.

Isn't Simona's Dr. Ariel from LFMB? He seems nicer here.

Alfie's current girlfriend looks promising but a little bit scary.

Carlos

Thanks, Adriana, for our daily dose of Corazon Insufferable. Mig is just estupido.

Carlos, MC did cook something for Don Ale. Can't remember exactly, but it was some type of pastry or rolls. It was his favorite, but he couldn't eat too much because of his heart. She did hang out some in the kitchen with Justa, but never became an expert.

Yes, the good Dr. was mean and evil Ariel in LFMB. He deserves Simona and she deserves him.

So Nazario is making a random appearance to take care of Migreedy?

Why didn't MC go to Serafina's rooming house to stay? That was someone in the city she already knew. Is it too much to ask for just a tiny thread of logic here and there?

Paloma, thanks... indeed, now I remember that she did do some cooking for don Alejandro though I don't recall him doing a lot of eating.

Judy, I'm with you on Juanita. We need to spice up her life. When he hit on Maricruz in the park, Alfie barely acknowledged Juanita's presence. Let's dress her up (remember? She wore white shorts, a cotton blouse, and sandals to Simona's wedding) and get her a guy... a real guy... no parakeets or canaries. She'd look great paired with Jaime Camil.

Carlos

Adriana Noel---Thank you for a great recap. I join the chorus in saying that no more editing is needed.

Susanlynn from yesterday---I wanted to vote for a loose sofa spring to bring Miguel's demise.
He sure lays around a lot, that would be a perfect way for his exit from this novela.

Well last night started a new chapter in this "dreaded" Corazon
Indomable novela. It will be great
for the members of the
"Complainers Forum." I wonder what
the complaints will be about in this part of the show? I'm not worried though, I'm sure that the whiners will have plenty to whine about. I'll stay tuned, I can't wait.

It didn't take the goddess long to attract someone in the DF. All she has to do is walk down the street and like magic----someone appears. Well what do you expect from a goddess?

MC won't be making much from her new job. She needs something that pays well. I mean with Juanita, Lupita and herself, a house
keeper's pay won't cut it.

What a beautiful fountain in the DF last night. I enjoyed that scene.

Lupita sure doesn't talk much even with cotton candy. What a contrast with the nino in Porque
el Amor Manda. I know that there is a slight age difference but still---

Daisynjay---How did all of these wonderful guys end up in this mess? The answer is that permanent
members of the "Complainers Club"
will never be able to figure it out.

The hotel room---I too thought that it was a little strange with the café right on the other side of the living room window. That's the first time that I have seen anything like that. OH well. Next.

Carvivlie---Nazario didn't just suddenly remember. He has just been waiting for the right moment to get Miguel alone someplace with no witnesses around and it looks like he finally got his chance.

Vida2---I think that your wish comes true tonight---Miguel goes down. No tears for this guy.
the gringo

Carlos---I'm sure that Maricruz did a lot of cooking when she was living in the shack but I'm sure that it wasn't anything very fancy
I'm sure that she at least knows the basics.
the gringo

Carlos---I wrote sure to many times. I didn't proof read it but I think that you can get my point. MC did cook in times past.
the gringo

JudyB: I agree about Juanita. She needs a life. And I don't understand why she doesn't leave MC for a better paying job. Oh well.

Gringo: You highly over estimate Nazario's strategy. He's just sitting on his duff drinking when Mig rides up.

I think I said this when we went to the ranch, nice to have new scenery and people. Definitely feel that way again. Just changing locales has made me feel anew. Sure it won't take long for me to join the Complainers Club again.

Carvivlie: I'm also glad for the change of scenery, especially the new, age-appropriate man candy for Maricruz.

And I'm so happy to see a change of wardrobe. I was getting tired of those mullet skirts. MC's pants outfit in the park was very nice. Somehow she managed to change clothes on the bus ride to Mexico City!

Does pointing that out put me in the Complainers Club?

I noticed the other day that ABC seemed to have lost a little bit of weight. After reading the comments from the other day, I'm wondering if it was because of health problems. I hope she recovered quickly.

Thanks Adriana for the recap.

I enjoyed the change of scenery. I agree with others that the hotel room is odd and I also thought Maricruz would go back to Serafina's. Definitely would have been cheaper. Oh, well.

I enjoyed getting new eye candy. However, I am distraught by the fact that he is a pintor as I don't want to end up seeing Natrasha again. I have a feeling she might reappear. *sigh*

I wonder if Miguel's end will be swift or if he will linger. If he lingers he will get his wish of slowing Octavio down in meeting up with Maricruz. Note to Migreedy - careful what you wish for, you may get it.

Caryn

Adrina Noel, your recap was short and perfectly sweet! Thanks!

The reason that Tav didn’t apologize to MC for his many transgressions is that, *****MEN HATE APOLOGIES!***** He is just following his natural DNA male mutation!! (Insert a sonrisa here!)

In order to boost myself out of the Complainers Club to the Calle Contenta , I’ve contrived a positive comment........While MC has been a little dense business wise, she has kept her high moral character/values from one side of Mexico to another! Her convictions deserves some admiration in the world we are living in today!

The best comment to have come out of Caray in a long time is the suggestion that Vivi should write the novela! If she does, I’m back in on a daily basis.

Sandy in TN

Sandy, LOL!

I wonder if now MC will have a bunch of problems with Galan #8's prometida. Wouldn't it be great if she turned out to be Doris LA HIJA DEL GOBERNADOR!!

Anon,

"Wouldn't it be great if she turned out to be Doris LA HIJA DEL GOBERNADOR!!"

Oh, please please please let it be so.

Carlos

That would be awesome! And this time they would be fighting over a more worthy galan.

Sandy- So true about MC keeping her values. But it's sort of annoying how EVERY character assumes that just because she's a young, pretty, and financially strapped young woman, she would automatically turn to turning tricks/hooking. Juanita is also a young, attractive poor woman. She's not a hooker. Aracely didn't turn to prostitution. I don't get why everyone acts so shocked that MC hasn't hooked up with some dude for his money or turned to a life of immorality.

Do you recognize la prometida here? She's Alejandra? (the prostutute that befriended Xochitl from PEAM).
Sh

Sh- Yeah, I recognized her. They made her hair darker here and gave her a harder look. But it doesn't seem that she's a hooked with a heart of gold here. Just a beyotch. I don't think she'll come close to being as entertaining as Doris though.

That's hooker, not hooked.

You’re right Vivi, several of the women in this novela have taken the moral high ground despite having their reputations sullied by their acquaintances. Aracely was a great character, maybe we’ll see her again at the end, with a great esposo and hijos!

I know Miguel is a big rat, but for me the biggest rat is JA, he has been the cause of so many of MC’s current problems, after her repeated kindnesses to him! After Miguel is killed by the sofa spring, I hope JA is strangled by his silk pajamas!!!!!

Sandy in TN

La hija del gobernador??? God, would you imagine that??
The girl who showed up today is not the prometida, she's just a model that works for him.
We have yet to see the prometida...

Vivi, I agree - why is everyone so surprised that MC can be an honest woman??

Aleta, I like MC's clothes more now, too. Funny how she found it perfectly ok to wear skirts in the country, but wears jeans in the city.

Judy, I don't get why Juanita doesn't leave MC - I don't think she is getting paid right now.

thanks, Adriana, for providing us with another excellent recap.

I have been wondering why Juanita remains with Mari! too....loyalty?..inertia? She does not seem to be very proactive. I don't think Juanita is a "go.getter.. " She evidently has hitched her wagon to Mari's star and is in for the long haul. Not much ambition evident there.

it was funny that Mari decided to wear jeans in the city even though she felt that the high low skirts were appropriate for life in the country. Que ?

And so I suddenly saw Brandon as the young and handsome new admirer of MC. Great! At first I couldn't recognize him because he looked like he's lost some weight since "Refugio".
I don't want for Simona to be a saint, I want her to be the object of jealousy of Shutup Doris and not MC. Let the claws come out with these two cats.
I saw the preview and by the looks of it, it's time for beddie bye bye, Mcgreedy.
If Simona falls in love with her doctor, could it be that MC could fall in love with her artist/painter? I wish it would be "Love is wonderful the second time around" but with Alfie and not Tav. He is still deader than dead to me for now.

That was a really odd room that Mari and Co. Were staying in, but MigravelyIll would love it because it has two of his favorite things.".a bed and a big ass couch." ...done and done.

Great recap, Adriana.

When the weird hotel room first appeared in the Mexico broadcast a fan asked Ana Brenda on Twitter id the people seen through the windows were production staff - so, a production error. She said no, that it's supposef to be a "boutique" hotel.

Robbie, thank you for the "boutique hotel" bit of info, this will help me never to choose one on I go on vacation.
Raquel and Lucina over on Mentir para Vivir have a hotel boutique, too, but it looks completely different - could you imagine with teh kind of "exciting" live Raquel leads to have a room like Mari's?

Lol, Adriana.

"Robbie's mom" is me - LatinaInMD. I don't get why my iPhone now chooses that identity for me whenever I post using my phone instead of my computer. (Probably because his teacher labelled my personal email address that way.)

LatinaInMD

Well, hello, Robbie's mom, nice to have you with us :))
I never fully understood how smart phones work, I guess they're too smart for me.
