PEAM #181.2- 11/20/13: We All Should Obey When Love Commands. The End!

RECAP BY PABLO

Dear Caray readers, I thank you for your patience and trust allowing me to experience something new for me. I am glad I did it, but I am also sad, since this excellent experience happened with this awful Telenovela. Thanks again and see you in the comments.
This is my last participation for the time being, and since this has not been discussed, I would like to add a couple points from yesterday (I know, it's hard to say goodbye).

Also on Sunday...

Aunque la jaula sea de oro, no deja de ser prisión

It doesn't matter if dad is in jail or free. On Father's Day, you just have to go see him. Today, we witness Mostro hugging his kids and Patricia taking Fernandito to see Papá Rogelio. Patricia, who could be doing theater off Broadway right now but she missed the chance when she decided not to follow Elías, still rehearses in the hopes that one day she can succeed as a ventriloquist, throwing her voice so Rogelio thinks that the baby is starting to speak and that he is not missing those big moments in every father's life.

Later on, to Rogelio's surprise, Fernando brings Mr. Fernando senior, their father, but Rogelio is still very hurt to forgive... Mr Fernando, who moonshines sprinkling sugar on churros and playing maracas, didn't come to ask for anything, just to see how his sons were doing and to met his namesake and grandson. Rogelio changes his mind and thinks of all the times when he abused and hurt his brother and since now his life is changing, he is not going to perpetuate all this hate. They hug and cry.

No more Mother's Day for me! (now playing)

Valentina, who has quickly overcome yesterday's brush with death at the hands of her own mother (how traumatic is that), has time to spare and prepares a play for Father's Day, where the aide and the little princess share some thoughts. The audience is cold, Chatita, Don Sebas, Jesús, Minerva, Luisa II and Sansón II doesn't seem too excited to see the ''Juppets'' telling a very tired story. After that, Valentina tells Jesús how much she loves him despite all of the odds against them, and then Alma does the same for Don Sebas, even though he is very far from being the best dad in the whole wide world... but, juárever, it is Father's Day and right now he should be happy, if not now, when, right? He's more ''over there'' than ''over here'' (ya está más pa'llá que pa'cá)

The Monterrey hillbillies

Marisela took Pánfilo to eat out to the next most expensive restaurant in ''Monterrey'' she could afford. He didn't like the idea, but since Father's Day comes only once a year, why not spend  them while they're alive, right? To make it worth it, she is honoring and also surprising him. Since the bill is going to be high, why not take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness and make amends once and for all? A father's unconditional love never asks for apologies, but it is in a good daughter's heart to offer them.

-I won't live long enough to thank you father, for what you did during my ''strawberry'' phase...
-It is not necessary, you are the apple of my eyes...
-I still have a surprise for you... my certificate, look! It says that I am now...
-I know, I know, I still can read with my good eye!

TH-TH-TH-THAT'S ALL FOLKS!

Preface

.: Revenge of the black shadow :.

Metal mesh gloves would match perfectly with those spiked shoes. God knows how many days later, or maybe the same day around lunchtime, we see a black shadow lurking nearby the García Montemayor family. The pizza delivery guy hurries to make it before 30 minutes or it's free, so he forgets to lock his motorcycle up. For all we can see, looks like this black shadow works as a meat cutter, and a bad one, since the hand that holds the knife has lots of cuts still fresh...

Round is also a shape. Inside the house, Chatita thinks she cooked rotelli al orégano y las finas hierbas, turkey bacon wrapped asparagus, tomato salad with red, white and blue cheese and baked a cake. All to be washed down with a Diet-Coke. She is a woman who takes care of her shape. Oh! And It's still Father's Day, by the way.
Well, since Chatita is responsible for the chronology in this story, even if it's Christmas in her house, in her heart it is Jesús birthday. She takes a huge matchbox from her brassiere, where she stores almost everything, including peanuts for those moments when hunger strikes. I know kisses melt, but M&Ms ?... hm.
So, cleared that today is not his birthday but Father's Day, all giggle and laugh, specially Luisita, who has been giggling all 12 months in her mommy's tummy.
Of course the pizza was just a cheap excuse to take us back in time riding one of Jesús now famous flashbacks, to when he worked at Panis Angelicus, the best and fattest, I mean fastest pizza in all Chicago. Don't forget: handmade and personally delivered by Jesús himself!
I don't know how big Chicago is but, how many pizzas could someone make/deliver on a bicycle in a day, two, four? Three-hundred and sixty four? And that was only one of his multiple jobs. If my memory works as good as Chatita's, I remember something about a Taco Place...

Back to the present. Since Don Sebas is treating, he lets Jesús take his wallet. Jesús pulls out a big bill and tells the boy to keep the change. Oh, and this advice is free, never, ever take a suitcase that supposedly has old clothes for orphan kids, you'll regret it!
Little did they know that their sidewalk was being vandalized, the big butcher knife of the black shadow is writing something on it. Could it be J-E-S-U-S? I just hope that doesn't ruin the blade...
The cherry on the cake is Quico, who enters singing ''The Little Mornings''
Turns out he brought Jesús, his second father, a little origami gift he made himself with one of his notebook pages. Thanks, look what I did with it, an origami snowball!!

Part I

Times flies on the Cerro de la Silla/something will happen in only 10 minutes!

Pancho López is playing golf in the Patagonia. Ohhh! And today is the Big Wedding! The day when almost all Monterrey stopped juárever they were doing to attend, as long as they didn't jump the barricades! We are lucky we can peek inside and we see Xo, who finally got her contacts and Marisela, who is going to make heart out of tripe with Ricardo. From the neon palette, looks like aquamarine was the only color left.
Rai is still there, she didn't leave with her brother to Torreón. Marcia is there, and even when I don't think there's been too long because the babies are the same or maybe smaller than last time we saw them, she is holding Fernandito. I would never trust anybody from Martha's family, she can still try to run in high heels with the baby and all... you know, it's in their genes.
By the way: I know why Pancho López and family couldn't make it... that was just an empty promise (to us). The Lopezes are probably in Argentina with Diego Armando, grieving over his found and lost love for Chlorine bleached Aphrodite... I also missed Ivonne, who left Don Gilberto alone. Maybe she is also in ''New York'', or ''singing''...
Inside the Catedral, the archbishop with his two altar boys, head the procession.

Only happy couples allowed: Gilberto, you're out! After the High Priest, Fernando and Xo are next, then Cárdenas and Jéssica, Julio and Aída, Ricardo and Marisela, Pánfilo and Susana, say whaaat? Wait a minute! Oh, it is only because Chatita is walking Jesús up the aisle and Sebastián will bring Alma later on.
Here is where we hear them saying sweet nothings like: What a coincidence, we got the arras! Coincidence? I remember them offering stuff, so if they got the arras it is because they chose them, right? Then Doña Su is planning a double wedding, so Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice can share church and vows, what else? Icy-Hot and adult diapers? Their wedding will take place only if Chatita remembers to be in a good mood and doesn't start giving away ''bacinicazos''! Her weapon of choice.
Now Chatita presents the groom and Sebas presents his daughter, whose dress has a train so big, like half a block long, that Valentina and Quico alone couldn't hold it. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Quico couldn't hold the hairdryer either!
Besides Alma, other people who are happy with that train are the janitors, who won't have to sweep after the wedding...

-Amigui! what happened to your hair?
-Fearing yet another kidnapping, I rushed here through the HOV lane in my pink convertible! Do you think people would notice?
-Nah, casual, is that chicken wire underneath?

''May Jesus Christ's holy cross descend from heaven and cover you, and from all evil and danger protects you''

And very much Jesús needs Chatita's prayers. One never knows, with that black spooky shadow roaming around... I would be very careful... Just to be on the safe side, Jesús asks his namesake for a sign that from now on everything will be ok. I saw him clicking the button himself, but when his wristwatch turns green, or black with the phosphorescent hands, or the numbers turn from roman to arabic, he gives the icon on the wall the thumbs up. Wow! Who would have thought that Jesus in heaven has an app for that!! Direct communication with all his followers, qué motherno!

-My angel has arrived
-I am sorry I am late! Aquanet was not cutting it for me today!
-Jesús, I give you my daughter... my most precious treasure...
-My mission is to make her happy, Don Sebas, never doubted it...I have been doing her over a year now... and when I say ''doing it'' I mean making her happy (wink)... Do you see, Licenciada, the surprise Father Sunday had for us?
-I see, Licenciado, the Archbishop! I am soooo happy I don't even remember Verónica!

El Arzobispo de Constantinopla me quiere desconstantinopolizar
Si el Arzobispo me desconstantinopolizara,
será un buen desconstantinopolizador!

If this Archbishop is not an actor, how does he handles to get time off to participate in something as prosaic as a TN? How much does he charge? Does he do it for free to promote the Church so more people get married because they are tricked into believing that these marriages are happier than the ones from other religions? Do TNs show other religions besides Catholic? Does the Catholic Church allow priests or something similar to spend time in trivial and mundane things like TNs? Sorry, what was I thinking, they can do worse than this, please, go on... never mind.

Not having enough with all the happy couples on display, we witness first hand that love is in the third and fourth row: The odd couple Delia and Enrique (smart/dumb), and Marcia and ''x'' (he is crazy for her/she is just crazy), to name a few... Look behind Valentina and you will see Octavio's mom...

No estaba muerta, andaba de parranda

No, it is not Eugenio Derbez's Lonje Moco! Fue horrible! Nor is the hunchback who was rejected from Nun-sense! With that pus oozing eye! Nasty! She must have fallen from the ugly shoes she used to wear because she is limping!

And we have to see her face right now, when they could have left this for the kissus interruptus scene. Why not just show the girls screaming horrified keeping Verónica's appearance for the very end when she is handcuffed? Who knows, juárever!
The thing is that Vero hands Vale a note (too bad she never had time to learn origami, that could have been a nice swan). Then the girls see her face and make her feel unwanted, but before that, YES! Jesús' sixth sense feels the presence of the enemy, or maybe it is his little vinyl antenna...
They are tingling and he quickly spots one of the nuns, the weird looking one, the one that limps. Out of the hundreds of people gathered there. Psychic!

Then Archie asks if there's someone who wants to stop this wedding and blah, blah, blah. Verónica stays silent but the surprise is Rogelio, who has been secretly allowed to attend (with a microchip to locate him, just in case he gets ''too happy'' and starts having bad thoughts. Instead of running to the podium, he runs to Patricia, kissing and kissing until the guy behind them gets so embarrassed his face looks like a xitomatl. Yes, I say tomato, you say potato!

Chatita jumps from her seat to say something to stop the wedding and as if the whole Church has  seen Medusa, gets petrified. Chatita, jokingly as always, has mistaken or forgotten where she is and came with her bucket of slobber (batea de babas). Poor Chatita. When young circus girl, and when old, clown (de joven, cirquera, de vieja, payasa).

Then Archie urges Roger to stick to the program and he does. He reads Pablos's recap for the Caraythians in the Laptop. He could have read Solomon's Song of Songs (your breasts are like honey jugs and things like that but no, there were kids in the audience) he read a passage from the Bible that is a song to love. Coincidentally, everything he reads, Jesús and Alma had done already. We know it when we see them looking at each other and smiling.   ;-)

I thought Fernando was going to bring the rings, but I see Oliverio with them. Marisela hands the ''arras'' out and after that Fernando and Xóchitl (who never spoke) joined them with the indestructible power of the swarosky lasso.

Alma was very excited but couldn't cry.
1- Her Avon mascara could have run down and
2- Her plush eyelashes could have fallen down.. (really, I have never seen eyelashes as thick as Groucho Marx's moustache, anyway) Oh, and since we are in the ''scissor's time'' let me add that her hair stylist was inspired by the movie TOP SECRET! and gave her the hairdo ID'd as ''Hillary on motorcycle''. Tonight, the hole in the ozone layer grew in size! Talk about global warming!

Even when Verónica passes the collection basket around, people seem very angry. Not of giving, of cour$e, but she may be offending the guests with a foul stench. Then we see the wounded hand, the tear (of crocodile) and then the interrupted kiss and the arrest. Verónica's run ended here. From now on, she is no longer free.

Part II
La pachanga

I guess for all the cast it is great to end a project with a party, because even when it is pretend, they still can enjoy few dialog and mucho baile. At least they are getting fun, but, what about us, oh God!

Next we see Lupita Dalessio's son and his band Matute playing covers from the 80s (and some older) because Alma asked them to. She told Jesús she was very afraid of heights and when they were in the cenote and he said frog, she jumped, but she did it because love commanded her. Now I understand lemmings, they must love each other very much too!

Chatita interrupts to open her heart with something that she always does, intertwines her personal life in everything she does. She tells Jesús that now she understands why God took her son (Pedrito) and then Chato (her life companion), and it was because of him. God took her family so she could meet him. Really? God's ways may be mysterious, but this is some consolation prize I would never accept. I am sure some people have it both ways.
Jesús, preparing the audience for the next TN, Por siempre mi amor, looks at the camera and says, Chatita, you will always be ''My second mother'', don't forget, remake's Grand Premiere December 2nd, 8, 7 central. ;-)

This prison will be a living hell (no, that's not cilantro in your teeth)

Jail, unfairness and hate. A couple hours later, still with her black eye but in her new uniform, Verónica is sent to scrub the toilets with her own toothbrush! At least she is wearing hot pink gloves.
Crime doesn't pay and she'll probably get infected and lose her eye due to necrosis after rinsing it with toilet water. From the toilet that doesn't flush, of all toilets!! God, where is La Tecolota when we need her? Isn't she supposed to stay awake all night?

Birds of a feather wanted to fly, came Delia Torres and stopped them dry

I am not sure if Rogelio and Patricia actually wanted to run away with Fernandito and live on the run with all the jumps and scares. The case is that they disappeared and then reappeared with the pichón outfit to do the chicken dance. Delia intervenes, Jesús overrules her, she obeys him since she is all love and love commands, yadda, yadda!
Really, I don't know why the big fuss, Patricia cries like it is the end of the world as we know it, asking, begging, imploring that her pichón shouldn't be taken away. Really? Is not like he is going to Australia, they can still 'see' (meaning touch, explore, play and enjoy) each other during the conjugal visits on Thursday... and there's a lot, a lot of Thursdays in 30 years! That would be the least of my concerns. At least I know exactly where he is and that he is not cheating on me, or is he?

Mom is the easiest word to say. Jesús quickly adopted Chatita as his second mother and now Rai. poor girl, she doesn't know what she is getting into... a computer and candy are just like those mirrors and shiny objects Colón brought to América, remember? Maybe Rai hasn't read her history books yet...

Later on, Fernando borrowed the spotlight donning his Charro suit, and sang his ''Cosita Hermosa'' song to Jesús, then Alma, then Chatita, then...

Fireworks and chinese lanterns, oh my! And to think that all this is nothing compared to what we will see later on in the bed scene, get ready!

Epílogue
Moralejas, así o más charro?

If I hate TN with hidden messages imagine what I feel with the ones that break the fourth wall and say it out loud!

Quico and Rai: Depends on us kids to have a better world (that's why we let grown ups light chinese lanterns because they're so safe for the environment, they're not fire hazards at all, no... and remember, if it's CHINESE it's safe)
Pánfilo: Age doesn't matter,
Susana: ''We'' grandparents  also have the right to fall in love (we, Kemo Sabe?)
Sebastián: Regardless of social status
Chatita: And what we will never forget, is to love.
Alma: Disregard all obstacles, things or people who are against your love. When someone is meant for you, sooner or later you will end up together.
Jesús: Always dream BIG! One way or another everything falls in place. Why? Because love commands.

Y colorín colorado este cuento se ha acabado. Finally the fairy tale came to an end. Or did it?
Jesús tells Vale how the fairy tale ''ended'' and then gets surrounded by all his women: Luisa, Luisita, Alma y Valentina.
Then Jesús fights vs the word END because there's still more to come. No pun intended.

Post epilogue (post coitus)

Tell me, did we really had to see this bed scene? OK. But before that, let's go back to the past for a few seconds so we can enjoy the fruity raspberry secretary outfit and Alma with the same ''Gone With the Wind'' hairdo dressed as ''la licenciada''.

This episode presented by the words ''very far'' and ''TOO CLOSE''. At exactly 11:10, the time that namesake Tocayo promised he would send a signal that everything was going to be okay, little blue pill kicked in.
Alma, I am here, my love, as ready as an Oil wrestler from Turkey. Don't look at my nose, don't look at my nose, look lower, lower, yeah! Right there! All yours! And that's just the tip of the iceberg... Eww! Talk about muffin tops, and without the pants! (Juárever, I guess we people over 50 need to reaffirm out self esteem, right? ). Another thing I wanted to point out is that we see Alma in her white lingerie like a block away from the camera, and then Jesús at a mere 3 feet. We get to see every pore, every drop of that nasty mix of sweat and oil and every hair on the little legs. Does that serve a purpose? (Women, please be honest). Why didn't we get to see Alma that close too to know at least the design of the embroidery of her underwear?

Blah! Boring couple even when making love. Ready for the second round? Remember that the effect last up to seven hours!

Phew! Now I need a cigarette!
The end

Pablo:

This last recap of yours is fabulous, without a doubt. Thanks so much for doing this Grand Finale with your trademark snark. It was well worth the wait.

They really did leave us hanging with certain things, like no one got Vero's body? What happened when she "disappeared"? Did Delia and Suarez even look for her?

I was disappointed that Pancho y Familia weren't in the Gran Finale. I really was hoping they would be.

Alma's dress was gorgeous. That train really was a mile long, but still gorgeous dress.

I actually laughed at Chucho's oily body. They kept the camera there for a while too. It was our one last look at FC.

Thanks so very much for this last recap Pablo and see you in the comments.

I don't know, but there was a heck of a lot more in your recap than I saw in the finale aired on the West Coast.
I don't know if you added stuff in with an artistic license or what.
But were scenes cut out of our West Coast airing?

Ok, the chinese lanterns going up, even though I know they're not good for the environment, appeal to me. I think they were the best part of the whole episode. If I had gotten to see Fernando sing that might have been good, but it wasn't part of the West Coast show.

PABLO, Thank you for seeing us through. I'm curious what's next for you?

Finally, the grand finale and how appropriate it is the Pablo had to recap. Thank you for you weekly snarky takes on this novela. You are the best! I am sorry that you are not going to recap but I look forward to seeing your comments.
I can't stop laughing over Chatita who had the matchsticks in her bra.
It was poetic justice for Veronica to spend her life scrubbing toilets
Why was Quico at the Alma's house? A very annoying character and I was not pleased that Valentina had to run to him amd wrap her little legs around him. Really?
Alma's gown was beautiful minus the train. The train was a bit much.
Sadly, I yawned during the love scene. They truly were a boring couple.
What a bittersweet moment because I was honored to recap with such a great team but I am glad that the show is over.

How appropriate that Pablo sends us off with this fabulous recap. Loved it! And thank you for all the your wonderful snark through these many months. To all of our recappers-- my sincerest thanks.

I thought this was one of the worst finales I've seen. More than usual plot points left hanging ( I really thought we would get a fast forward with the babies, a Mari wedding, maybe Rog out of jail, etc.)

Speaking of Rog, ok, tear our hearts out with that farewell scene between he and Pati. Cripes. Actually, to me, their story was far more interesting than our leads ( and better acted).

I'm not big on grand weddings, and though I thought Alma's dress was pretty from the front, that train was just too much. And speaking of too much, what was with the raccoon eyes and yes, Pablo, right there with you on the hair. And I know FC hates to dance, but could it have killed him to do one scene dancing with his bride...just stand still and sway for goodness shake.

Of course staying consistent, the whole treatment of Val in this episode was awful. She goes thru the trauma of seeing her mother hurt and scarred, dragged off to jail, has to be the one to forgive her and then plopped at the wedding table with no one but that annoying "boyfriend" to be there for her. I know, I know...supposed to just show the happy couple and all their sweet nothings with people, but I was still ticked off.

Hated the "to the camera" end and I never thought Chucho and Alma have ever lit up the screen with chemistry, so I clicked off when they went to the bedroom and waited for Rulli and Boyer who just looking at each other makes my TV shake.

Been fun everyone. See you on the other shows.

Daisynjay

Will have to wait and see this later on today on computer, but oh my..."Icy-Hot and Adult Diapers"!...what a wicked line. Motivation to keep doing my Kegel's, that's for sure.
Will be back later Pablo. But many thanks for suffering through this with us and making us laugh (and teaching us some useful Spanish as well!)

Thank you , Pablo, for closing out PEAM with one of your signature jampacked stream of consciousness hilarious recaps. From the Swarosky lasso to "mi segunda madre" to "no that is not cilantro in your teeth" you got it all! You need to recap again!

They cut out the piichon/pichona chicken dance bit and Fernando in his Charro attire here in the midwest. I just reviewed my tape to make sure I hadn't missed those scenes. Since we had scenes of Rogelio and Paty planning something, it was good to know what is was. Well, the episode seemed heavy on commercials so all we can say is "el dinero manda" for sure. :)

All in all a satisfying end to PEAM for me. The only thing that bothered me was the continued terrorization of Valentina by her mother. That was the real downer of the episode because Valentina was left in a very dark place.

Thanks to all of the recappers and commenters because I never would have continued watching without this group. You guys made it fun and worthwhile.

Jarifa

Thanks to you all for being so kind.

The experience was great and made Thursday my favorite day. You're right, recapping is not just tell what you saw, but sharing points of view and having something to talk about with people you have something in common.

I love to be entertained as much as you, so I am sure that one day I will find something amusing we all can talk about. Thanks again!

Pablo, you are quite clever with your use of words and references to things in culture. I tried to keep track of the places I lughed, but I lost count. "Juppets" and "Caraythians" were excellent. The Monterrey Hillbillies; Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice; "now I understand lemmings," "he is crazy for her/she is just crazy," "other people who are happy with that train are the janitors, who won't have to sweep after the wedding." It was truly better than the show (maybe that's not such high praise). You have a gift for being funny without sounding mean; you make it sound like you're surprised when the monkey writers go astray. Thank you because I know this takes a lot of time.

I also want to say I was horrified by the scene with Veronica in prison. The writers made such a fuss over Vero seeking forgiveness, and it generously being offered by Valentina, Jesus, and Rogelio. Then they completely undo this message by caving to those in the audience who want the lowest of motivations: revenge. Despite the fact that I never liked Vero, I found this scene profoundly disturbing. Add it to the list.

Thanks.
My next experiment will be recapping a TN that I like, to see if I can get the same raunchy wit I used here.

Pablo, I had your spot- Thursday- for Por Ella Soy Eva. I was typically up past 1 am writing the recap and then had to show up bleary-eyed for work the next day. When people commmented, I'd refer to the recapping by snapping at them, "Well I do have a second job."

No, no, Ithabill.

I meant thursdays were more fun to me than the actual recapping day (in my case, wednesday), because, believe or not, if you think the recaps are funny, the comments are even more!

Mil gracias once again, Pablo; you really did this finale justice -- more than justice, as the recap was MUCH better than the episode. But la curiosidad manda, so I couldn't skip the very last episode!

In the mid-Atlantic we did not get the chicken dance or Fer in his charro suit, more's the pity, but we did get Vale's totally inappropriate thigh-hug of the Lounge Lizardlet and the Hyena dunking Vero's head in the toilet. Very weird.

Sad not to see Pancho, but most of the old gang seems to be turning up on ROBO, so adelante!

This is the clip, from someone who was in the actual shooting of the scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIhN0ZOhsY8

Sorry I couldn't find the chicken dance with Patrog, but here it is the happy chicken with Quico:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lkVRy96sOA

Gracias, Pablo. This was in many ways better than the episode.

After Veronica's attempt at killing her, Valentina should have been screaming and running from her. I also wonder whether Veronica surviving that fall was realistic. She should have died, which would have been better for all the survivors of her reign of terror. The writers had her survive so we could laugh at her fate of being dunked into a dirty toilet in her last scene.

Unlike many, I do not believe that forgiveness is always appropriate. Veronica was a dangerous lunatic who caused so much damage and killed several people I am with our hero who said "Only God can forgive you."

I hated Alma's hair at the end; they could have thought of something better. Also thought the train on her dress was excessive and would have looked better if the dress had a bustle instead of a hoopskirt.

Pablo, You were fabulous from the first night you recapped right up through last night. You are a gifted comic and I agree with Ithabil that your world of cultural and literate references kept me laughing each week while always thinking, smuch more than this pitiful plot gave us in it's poor editing and silly continuity

Most disturbing editing cut on the episode, at least here in New Mexico, was the scene of Veronica drinking from the porcelain chalice that cut to the bacon wrapped asparagus, cake and most of all red wine right after. NOT appetizing at all...

I love your newly coined term Caraythians, it has a majestic ring to it!!

Mil gracias, querido amigo, Pablo, ojala que nos veamos pronto.

Thanks, Pablo. What a way to end your first recapping stint!!

I laughed when you mentioned the fourth wall. I HATE when they talk to the camera! I also loved "He reads Pablos's recap for the Caraythians in the Laptop." But most of all, I loved "this is some consolation prize I would never accept."

The bed scene was record-breakingly short. And the oil on FC was ridiculous. Wessonality! He looked like he had just come out of a fryer and the cook forgot to drain the basket! Gross!

Fernando singing wasn't shown on the east coast either, sadly. Nor was the chicken dance. Cutting out the chicken dance was especially obnoxious because it made their previous scene together a bit confusing. I thought they were either planning to flee, or find some privacy for a quickie, but then nothing happened...

Bill, I was horrified by Vero's prison scene too. Actually I was horrified by the whole Vero thing. All the questions Madelaine brought up, for one thing. And first she's carrying a knife around and then she's begging for forgiveness? Whaaaaat? And then getting groped by Hiena and a dunk in a toilet full of Yoo-Hoo. Yeah, we get it.

But take heart; when she told Hiena "you don't know who you're messing with," I realized that she probably won't live very long in prison and THEN everyone's suffering can end.

Finally, who were those two rude girls in church? Who the hell would yell "Asco!" at a (supposed) nun??

Before I even read this I want to rant. This was the lamest most insipid "Finale" ever.

I would have liked one of those "five years later" epis so we could see Pato & Rogelio happy again -- and a look at Fernando & Xochitl's 5 niños. Plus who knows how many more babies for Alma & Chucho after that fertility dance.

AND I kept waiting for Pancho Lopez to show up with his family --NADA. ¿Qué, Qué, What? Why did they throw that teaser in about the whole family coming fro Toluca if there was no intention of them really coming? Or did I miss something?
Güera

Oh, Cheryl, I noticed that unfortunate edit too, from the toilet to the bacon asparagus. Who wants to look at food now??

I can't believe no one mentioned the RED BUCKET bucket in the prison scene! How can the Only Bucket in Monterrey end up in a prison lavatory? It deserved better!

My last comment before lunch (but not my last comment of the day): didn't it look as though Alma was wearing every item in the Avon product line at the same time??

Well... looks like the happy scissors editors did it here in central time too, since I didn't get to see that chalice drinking scene... I could have written a full page about it :-(

I am sorry I overlooked the red bucket in female prison, I must have been using my magnifying glass on Veronica's teeth... Let me go rewind, LOL!!

Pablo: thanks for all your hard work in recapping this TN.

In my TN watching experience and, to be honest, it’s very limited, this is the worst gran final I’ve seen.

I thought all the good guys were supposed to have happy endings. That last scene with Pato was gut-wrenching. I get that Rog has to go back to jail, and Pato’s response was consistent, but for the GF couldn’t they have had her keep a stiff upper lip and hope for an early release.

That scene where Vale was practically wetting her pants when Quico showed up and then JUMPED ON HIM. I was sick to my stomach.

Who was that guy with Marcia?!

If Vero had escaped, why wasn’t everyone nervous at the wedding thinking she might show up?

What happened to Vero in prison--her worst nightmare.

I liked the wedding dress and didn’t mind the hair. Thought the tiara was appropriate—the train, not so much. The makeup was too dark. I liked her dress/look at her wedding with Rog way better.

I would like to have seen a time jump, too.

At least they got to fit in the obligatory close up of FC’s wet (oily?) chest before the end.

Question: What was Marisela’s dipoloma for?

Nanette

This is probably not the original red bucket (which is in a shrine) but its stunt double. After all, this was a dangerous scene...

Plastic is indeed a good investment. Lasts a lifetime!

Thanks for pointing that out because now I also saw the toilet brush ''verde limón''

I suppose the train on her dress was appropriate given the princess theme--I just think it a bit much for someone not a real princess.

OK now I have read your marvelous recap, Pablo. You do have a way with satire. So many great lines -- most have already been cited. All in all a very amusing recap.

I wish they hadn't cut out those dance scenes> It would have gone a long way toward saving this boring finale. I agree that leaving out the pichon dance was particularly unfortunate because it left me scratching my head about what Pato & Rog were plotting. I also would have loved to hear Fernando sing again. I am not sorry to have missed another Quico travesty.

Also agree about that unfortunate edit from filthy toilet to wedding food. And, much as Vero deserved humiliation that toilet scene was too much (for us more than for her.)

And yes that oiled up chest was a but too much. They could have used a few shower scenes throughout the show -- FC DOES have an impressive chest which I wouldn't mind glimpsing now and agai -- but last night I just kept wondering if he was going to slide off the bed -- Was Alma going to be able to hold on or would he slip right out of her encircling arms. And did I see glitter on those oily hairs???

But Juarever -- Thanks again to you, Pablo. You've kept us laughing all through this.

Güera

Yes, yes, Nanette!

I am guessing Marisela now with that degree, will join the ''Licenciados'' gremio and if not rich and famous, at least will leave the bottom of the barrel and start doing like The Jeffersons, moving up!

Thanks, all those laughs are reciprocal (can I say that?, meaning that I also have a lotta fun reading other recaps and comments).

Pablo- Many thanks, amigo. This was one of the funniest finale recaps I've ever read. This was the worst/most insipid finale I have ever seen.

I switched the channel as soon as Quico showed up. I pride myself on not having watched any of his scenes all the way through. So I did not see Val wrap herself around him. Thank goodness!

I had all of the same questions the rest of you did. In addition:
- Do they really expect us to believe that GIANT wedding dress fit in that little box they brought Alma?
- Why did they need pizza, on top of all the food that was already cooked? And why did they need such a giant feast at all, when a few hours later they would be at a wedding banquet?
- Why bother showing us the cool park the reception would be in a few episodes back, when they were just going to show the inside which just looked like a soundstage anyway?
- Why the heck did they make Xoci and Fer pregnant with 5 kids, if they were never going to show us those 5 kids? Why couldn't she just be pregnant with one or two? The whining would have been the same.

I could go on, and on. :)

This tn didn't start off bad, but the last few weeks (since Elias left) I really feel like it got dull, dumb, and dreary.

All good points, Vivi. More loose ends regarding Vero: where'd she get the nun outfit? Is Padre Domingo going to find a dead naked nun someplace?? And where did Vero go to freshen her makeup lashes on her good eye?

Nanette, in 7 years of TN watching (holy crap, really? has it been 7 already?), this was the worst GF I have ever seen, in terms of poor editing, loose ends, overuse of salad oil, and general incoherence. And that includes at least two Mejia TNs. It may be some time before you see another one this disappointing.

Also about the editing: I don't think I saw the scene where they explained why the entire Lopez family, including the dog, missed the wedding. Did they really say Pancho was playing golf? Does it matter? I seriously want to sue them for false advertising. I tuned in to see Popeye!

Regarding Paty's sadness, I think it is supposed to be her punishment for years of taking things that don't belong to her (if getting stabbed wasn't enough). I don't know if it's worthwhile to try to make sense of it, but when you consider that she could have gone to jail (and been Vero's cellmate, asco!), her fate isn't unreasonable.

I don't ever want to see Quico again. If I avoid Juan Osorio's stuff I probably won't have to. On top of being intrinsically annoying, he's a terrible actor. And add me to the list of people who were taken aback by Vale's leggy embrace. Guacala, asco.

Speaking of Vale: one of the "rules" of TNs, which I have never seen violated until now, is that if you diss your mother, you die. At least in the Televisa world. "You're a mean mommy and I don't love you" is a pretty substantial diss (even if COMPLETELY justified). So I don't know if this counts as breaking a cardinal TN rule, or if Vale gets a free pass because she's a kid. Either way, though, I TOTALLY AGREE with Valentina and I'm glad she didn't perish in a fiery wreck.

Well, Val did forgive her Mom at the end, so maybe that saved her from retribution. Not sure if everyone got that scene, though -- what a hacked-up mess. I've never heard of an episode having different edits in different time zones.

Julie, I hope you're right that one can avoid Quico by avoiding Osorio. I intend to do so. Guacala indeed.

Vivi: I agree with Julie—all good points.

Julie: Good to know that this is a one off re: gran final. I understand where you’re coming from with Pato. Makes sense. But since both she and Rog had turned their lives around, I would have liked a less heartbreaking end scene for Pato, if for no other reason than it was a little jarring in an otherwise happy TN ending.

Looking forward to seeing Maria Elisa as the lead in her next novela.

Quico was embarrassing. His scenes were excruciating--both the ones where he's coming on to Vale and when he's performing. I feel kind of sorry for the kid. He showed the world how not so talented he is. Maybe he'll improve.

Someone out there, beneath the pale moonlight, is probably wondering where to comment the scene showed in another time zone/continuum/alternate universe in what we see Verónica sneaking into an abandoned convent convenient located at the foot of the waterfall, and in which, more conveniently, nuns hung their mint condition habits in their closets.

BTW, that's totally made up, because I lived in México and attended many weddings and funerals and never saw uniformed people passing the baskets around. Juárever...

Thanks, Pablo. The Por Fin episodio was a bit of a letdown, but your recap went above and beyond. I'm glad I remembered to read it at home instead of waiting until I got to the office. Too much laughing to make anyone think I was working!

But at least we finally got some comedy in the show! That whole honeymoon suite scene cracked me up. Especially their attempts at intense romantic facial expressions, and that goofy pan of Chucho dripping oil. I would have preferred a time jump to everyone else's happily ever after, though.

The other thing that made me laugh was the girl yelling "¡Asco!" in the church, right before Chucho and Alma kissed. Only one other person saw Vero's face, so probably everyone else thought this heckler in the back was grossed out by the prospect of kissing or something.

I didn't like Alma's dress. Too Gone With the Wind for my taste. And the train was ridiculous. Not merely cathedral length, but royalty length? Rather pretentious, no?

The reception was more fun than I expected, but barely. I'm surprised stuffy Chucho agreed to a band and dancing (for others, not for him). I was afraid their idea of a good reception would be two hours of tedious speeches and toasts. HATED their talking to the camera. I watch television for entertainment, not for a boring lecture.

Vero's swirly in the filthy toilet made me gag. I really nearly vomited. I couldn't watch the rest of the scene.

I loved the Chinese lanterns, although of course I always worry about fire danger when people do those. They look so beautiful.

If y'all watched Hoy today, they did show the pigeon dance during the wedding. I too am disappointed in some of the things they left hanging.

I agree with Vivi about the preggers thingy with Xochi. Why have her preggers if they weren't going to have a time jump?

Did anyone notice Kiko's red face when he was singing to Chucho? He looked beet red.

They left us hanging about who was Marisela's Mama and Panfi's first wife.

Elias couldn't make it back throughout all this Killeronica drama? FC and he didn't have to be in the same scenes. Really!

I too didn't like that Pato and Rog got no happy ending. They had both reformed so much, I think they should have done a time jump where they showed everyone all happy with their lives.

I too thought that scene with Killeronica was excessive, and like Julia, I had to look away. Didn't that Hyena mention something about messing with Alma?

Chucho's oily chest was a bit much. I too would have preferred a shower scene. And he was dripping, I liked Julie's comment about the Wesson Oil, I am still laughing.

I too agree this is the worst finale I have ever seen. The best one so far I have seen was PESE's finale and Refugio's finale. I loved the Eva lecture at the end of PESE, and the villains getting their just desserts in Refugio. Both had happy endings without all the oil and chopped scenes.

If you watch Hoy's episode today be prepared for an FC love fest.

I'm so annoyed that we never found out who Xochi's father is and that Elías didn't show up to take care of Val after her mother nearly killed her and Papa Jesús.

The fact that Veronica, after all the hell she caused, was still alive at the end (albeit in jail) was a bit disappointing. Call me bloodthirsty, but that female K9 deserved nothing less than death. And the only thing missing from the cast lecture at the end was the shooting star with "The More You Know" above everyone.
That said, I will miss looking at megahotties Blanca and Maria Elisa, and Valentina might just be the cutest kid in TN history (until someone finds a role for Montserrat "Telesa" from Pequenos Gigantes). And of course, these fantastic recaps will be tough to top (at least until the next big TN). Now off to write my anti-novela, with a gay super-couple, bloodshed everywhere, and a finale featuring a Jewish or even (horrors!) non-religious wedding.

thank you , Pablo. I really wanted to watch this novela because I love FC, but I just could not take it. Too weird, too depressing, too violent.

As for the big wedding....I agree about the too long train , the racoon eyes , the big hairpouf , and the staged love scene devoid of passion and emotion. FC has a beautiful body, but there was no chemistry between these two leads.

I saw FC on the Cristina show after Alborada, and he refused to dance even though Lucero and Daniela Roma were dancing and begging him to join them? I won't dancer don't ask me.

Does anyone know if FC has signed on for his next novela ? Please let it not be a comedy...this one sure wasn't one.

I guess it seems odd that I liked Eva's goodbye speech so much now that I've complained about people talking to the camera; but there is a world of difference between a speech from Eva and a speech from those dweebs.

Mads, I think Hiena's remark was something like Vero would have to pay twice as much as Alma did to get out of being Hiena's slave.

So after Vale was saved and Veronica fell off the cliff Delia, Suarez, and all the reinforcements just calmly walked away and didn't even bother to capture Veronica, knocked unconscious as she was?

And after falling down that cliff and obviously breaking her face and a few other bones (notice her floppy ankle) she was healed enough THE VERY NEXT DAY to steal a nun's habit and show up at the wedding with a BLACK (already healing) bruised face?

Alrighty, then.

The very next day?

She was Veronator, and just got up after the fall and was ready to strike again!! She had some paracetamol and Goicoechea leg cream in her ''pierce''.

I will put a bit of gossip here, I know it isn't allowed, but putting it here anyways. The leads of this TN, the main couple let's say, supposedly fell in love in real life and moved in together shortly after this TN ended. They are very happy. I heard this on two different shows so far. You would never have known it by their acting in this one. I was very surprised!

I am sure that's just a stunt, since they're promoting their theater play with Ernesto Laguardia.

The rumor mill is better than any advertisement and it's free.

I hope whatever tn FC is in next he plays an age appropriate role (time to play a dad to teens or 20-somethings), and he gets to swashbuckle or be a villain.

I hope he stops doing whatever he is doing to his face.

What, Vivi? A 47 year old playing a pizza 'boy' isn't age appropriate?

"Overuse of salad oil." you guys kill me.

Gossip isn't allowed, Madelaine?

I agree with you all about missing Elias. I wasn't here for the discussion when he left, but it seemed to me that when he and Jesus were shown together with Valentina that they made a more believable and affectionate family. My two dads. Must have been too confusing so they banished him.

"This is probably not the original red bucket (which is in a shrine) but its stunt double." hahaha

Thanks to all the recappers for PEAM. Loved your free-wheeling gran finale take, Pablo. Although I was barely watching most episodes lately, I thought I should do the finale. Don't which had the biggest "ick" factor--FC's dripping oiled body or Vero's face forced into the toilet.

Pablo, what a brilliant final recap! Your wisecrack about Top Secret was hilarious, but when I saw your avatar I nearly fell off my chair. Way to go, amigo.

My sincerest thanks to all the PEAM recappers. When this telenovela started spiraling out of control I knew I could at least count on the recaps to maintain a high standard. So we had to watch the world's most boring couple...a small price to pay for the scintillating recaps.

Thanks!

Thanks Pablo, for recapping what I thought was a really lame ending. The producers of this mess operate under the illusion that if the horse gets in the orchard and eats all the apples, you can still make a pie out of what comes out the other end. You can't.

Even my hubby thought Alma & Jesus were the most boring couple ever. That last scene was just awful. Why is a greasy body considered sexy? And white lingerie? Definitely not sexy either. I loved your line about Alma's eyelashes. She looked like the entire Avon line exploded on her face. Alma looked much, much prettier for her wedding to Rogelio.

So how many storylines were just left hanging? Did Maricela's mother ever make an appearance? We never did learn the big secret about Xochi's father either. And no word on Disqua. Did she get a miracle cure for her cancer or did she die in Bangladesh? No word on Elias. Marcia's sister is murdered by Veronica and Marcia says "I have nothing to forgive you for"? Really? What about Cinthia's husband Astudillo? And Chatita's theory about why her son and husband died, so she could meet Jesus, is a direct rip off from "Dances with Wolves".

The one thing that really irked me was Quico. Note to producers: Unless the kid is *really* talented, PLEASE don't subject the TN audience to your own spawn's "performance". I cringed every time "Quico" was on the screen. There is nothing more torturous than watching the child of some fawning parent stumble through Chopsticks on the piano or sing off-key.

"What, Vivi? A 47 year old playing a pizza 'boy' isn't age appropriate?"

To be fair, though, I see a lot of older immigrant men doing those kind of jobs ( I know one who delivers pizzas myself, in a pickup-up not on a bike ) where I live but I know what you guys mean.

By the way, Is this where we can have a Festivus style "Airing of the Grievances" about the show?

- About the whole Elias situation, there goes my idea for a telenovela version of "Starsky & Hutch" starring Colunga & Aravena.

- It had potential at the beginning and seemed to get better for a while but then they turned it into a "kitchen sink" telenovela and tried to stuff it with everything: comedy, tragedy, murder, awkward not-love scenes, slapstick, unresolved story lines, etc.

- I think Chucho would've been more satisfying character if things didn't come so easy for him. It would've made for a better story and a more satisfying plot.

- I think Colunga can be a better comedic actor ( there were glimpses of it imho ) but he really needs to learn to let go as an actor.

If I were Chatita I would feel really cheated that "the Tocayo" took her husband and son and replaced him with Mr. Know-it-All-and-World-Savior BORING Chucho! No way would I give Him thanks! Oops, did I say that out loud?

I think these monkey writers had the worst case of attention deficit disorder I have ever seen. They started SO many interesting plotlines, only to go "Ooh! Over there! Shiny!" and move on to something else.

Pancho: I think the comedy was too broad for FC. I believe he can do comedy, but it takes a certain kind of actor to pull off broad/slapstick humor.

Mads: I'm looking forward to seeing FC and BS in their play in a few weeks.

Julia: I don't think anyone could come up with a better explanation for the mess PEAM became than this:

"Ooh! Over there! Shiny!"

Pablo: your profile pic cracks me up. It's the only thing I remember about that movie--except for the big telephone. I still reference it, when I get the chance.

Pancho, I agree FC did show an aptitude for comedy... at times. (A better script would have helped.)

There were also times when I thought I might someday be able to take Blanca seriously as an actress.

But most of the time, it seemed like he was trying too hard and she was barely trying at all - especially towards the end.

Bummer.

Pablo:

I listen on Hoy for tidbits of chisme and that is where I heard it the first time. But I agree with you. A lot of that is hype either for the TN they are in or a play they are doing. It always helps to hype that a bit.

Bill:

Yeah, we aren't supposed to gossip about the personal lives of the actors. It was just a tidbit I heard and thought I'd put it out there ; )

Julie, not only a better script would've helped helped, but I wonder if some better direction would've also helped him.

Nanette, a while back someone on another thread said they thought FC was trying to be like Cary Grant in "Charade" and I thought that was a perceptive comment. I think FC *could* be Cary Grant-ish in the right vehicle but as you said this comedy was probably to broad for him.

As for Blanca Soto, I'm always making excuses for her in my head. I think my judgement is clouded by all the pretty.

I meant to write "this comedy was probably too broad for him" though come to think of it Cary Grant could do physical comedy, but he also had years of experience doing comedy.

Yeah, Cary Grant was great at broad comedy too. I think there are a few differences in this circumstance. 1) The comedies Cary Grant was in were smart and well-directed (even if they had silly moments); and 2) CG threw himself into it. He didn't limit his comedic acting to funny faces. He was willing to do pratfalls and look silly.

Cary Grant also had great comedic timing, and I'm not sure if FC has that. I just didn't see it in this tn, but it might be just the writing. Despite how poor the writing became, there were still a few actors that were able to make us laugh on a regular basis—e.g. Pati and Rogue. The reason is that both actors have great comedic timing and they were fearless- they were not afraid to look foolish and threw themselves all in. FC and BS always looked like they were holding back.

Just want a feel for whether I should post a weekend topic today or hold it until next weekend, which is Thanksgiving weekend. Normally I don't post one on the weekend of a finale, but I don't recall our traffic from last Thanksgiving weekend.

Any thoughts on this?

I was just thinking of posting a Latin Grammys discussion thread because I don't know if I can last a whole day without something to discuss with y'all! I think you should go ahead and post something.

I see Uni is repeating the two hour gran final on Sunday--because this TN was ever so popular.

Thanks for the heads-up on that, Nanette. I wonder if they'll put back some of the things that were cut out? Doubtful, but I can hope??

Let's watch it again!! LOL!

I'm gonna make bacon-wrapped asparagus and pizza!

I'm going to wear a train a mile long and five pounds of eye makeup!

Hahaha!

I am going to look for the nearest church and try to stop a wedding with a dull knife!

Na! I am not even allowed to use fireworks in my area!

I'm going to wear cruel shoes, make origami snowballs and give stupid life advice to a camera.

I like this.

After the ''100 things I learn from watching PEAM'' and the ''100 loose ends in PEAM'' this could be something we could do to celebrate that the nightmare is over.

I have my own plans, but if I like someone else's idea, I will steal it shamelessly! And don't you dare stop me!

I was disappointed that Elias wasn't there for the wedding. And speaking of showing up, didn't Susanna or one of the secretaries tell Alma the other day that Pancho and his wife and sister were going to be there? Where were they because I never did see them. And as for the wedding night, I could have done without seeing Alma getting undressed and the love scene and put a little more time into a half naked Jesus before cutting to the aftermath of their lovemaking.

Julie: I was hoping the same thing. I think I'll record it. I'd love to see the dance and song we missed.

I'm gonna watch my mom cook a nice meal, then order a pizza and make someone else pay for it!

I'm gonna drink chocolate milk out of the toilet!

I'm going to heckle bruised nuns!

Tks so much Pablo for all your fabulously funny recaps. Hope to see you do it again.

TG it's over, sooooooo looooong. All novelas s/b no longer than 100 episodes unless it is sth VERY good.

So lucky, now CI is on for 2 hrs. Well at least the pain will end sooner.

I'm gonna sit with my RomPope and make a toast to this one ending.

Julie,

I laughed at your whole comment.

Me too.
I am laughing more now than I did during the whole 182 episodes!!

I'm going to do what Julie is doing, and when I pay for the pizza with someone else's money, I'm going to give the delivery guy an ENORMOUS tip plus some useless advice!

Then I'm going to get all romantical with a guy who has no money management skills or common sense or restaurant manners and a history of treating me and everyone else he knows very badly!

Also I am going to start wearing skimpy cocktail dresses to work everyday, like upper management!

You guys are making me laugh! Actually, that rompope sounds like a good idea. I wonder if they make rompope ice cream?

Hey, if the romantical things work out with the loser guy, I'm going to take fertility drugs immediately after we get married, before we even try for a few months to see if we need them!

Bwaa! Topper!

The street vendors who carry ice ''paletas'' have little frozen treats with rompope flavor. I am sure you can find them in the store.

Pablo, thanks, I will look. There is a Mi Pueblo right down the street.

They're not like popsicles, but if you find rompope, you could even make them yourself in the freezer.

Rompope ice cream bar could be enother option...

Hmm, now I have a reason to visit my local paleterías. If they are only rompope "flavored" and not have actual rompope in them they might be carried here.

Jarifa

Oh, you people.
Maybe PEAM was a dud, but it probably gave us the best TN-to-comment humor ratio in Caray history.

Julie, ITA it sure has been fun and interesting here.

Jarifa

Truly, it's in the same league as El Talisman, and that is a high bar to reach for Caray-to-show quality ratio.

Sigh. I guess I'll go out and buy another bunch of bananas.

Late to the party, but I'm going to stand in front of two "fresas" for no reason at all and slowly reveal my bruised and battered face so they can say "Asco!" to me.

I'm going to stage all my super-romantic dinners in the office, and get all my coworkers to help stage an elaborate production involving multiple forms of sporting equipment and costumes to get my intended there.

Aw, hell. Maybe I'll find some crazy lady to buy me a computer and a lollipop and then move in with her.

And to think I was afraid we'd come away from this experience empty-handed.

Which reminds me: I'm going to get a job as hatcheck girl, steal things out of people's pockets, leave before my shift is over, and totally get away with it. And I'll be glistening with canola oil when I do it, because sometimes I get a little bit confused.

I may start my own feel-good religion and then design an original, ground-breaking exercise machine. I know, I'll call it the Thigh Maestro!

I just might ditch my glasses; get all gussied up; think of Bullwinkle; call myself Natasha; and sing my heart out in a local dive.

Jarifa

Suddenly I have the urge to -- it's the weirdest thing -- put on some really ugly shoes and threaten people.

With a chamberpot!

(Sorry, I'm having trouble letting go...)

Ah, Y'all as I'm fond of saying, raise your rompope glass, make one last toast to this TN and then let it go, let it float away, that ship has sailed and on to the new one December 2nd ; )

@Julie. No way was this show in the same league as El Talisman. It's not the greatest TN I've seen but it's not as bad as that one. I think Corazon Indomable comes a little closer to ET than this one does and even that one isn't as bad. And with Brandon Peniche making an appearance on there, I've actually started watching it again.

I'm sure I did NOT compare PEAM to El Tal. Never even saw it. I said PEAM was the worst gran final I've ever seen. I haven't seen all of them!

Mads, I'll raise my rompope glass (which will be full of tomato juice or tea because that's all I have left in the house today) only AFTER I watch the rebroadcast of the final, which begins at 2pm. I wanna see if they include any of the footage that was missing during the week. I felt as though some bits might have been missing on Tuesday night, too.

Most likely I will be disappointed and wish I'd spent those two hours watching something else, but afterwards it will FINALLY be all over!!

The last line of PEAM should have been the Garcia-Montemayors united and Valentina twisting the final rusty knife into Veronica by calling Alma "mama."

I know that Eggnog is not the same as Rompope, but maybe it will do by the moment. I went to Kroger and they have a line of ice cream called DeLuxe, and there's eggnog ice cream.

Well I'm set with Rompope AND some I put in a popsicle mold. So I'm good to go.

They actually have Rompope at BevMo.

Reporting that in my time zone (central) I didn't see the chalice but saw the pigeon dance and the charro song.

I forgot to mention one thing I really did like about the finale: the necklace Paticakes wore to the wedding, with all the green stones. Also, I was glad that they weren't all in hot pink.

Yes, it looks like they restored a bunch of missing stuff in the second hour! None of which made Vero's sudden change of heart any more believable, but at least the rest of it was more coherent. (I noticed as she was dragging her gimpy foot into the church that she was still wearing pink toenail polish.)

The first "hour" was shorter than it was on Tuesday night, though. Dunno if they cut stuff out of that to make room for the extra stuff in the second hour, or if there were just fewer commercials.

I didn't have time to go to the store, even for eggnog, so I just had some iced coffee. Anyway, NOW it is done!

Darn it, I missed the Sunday broadcast. Too busy watching football. I did check out the last hour on On Demand and it was the same that was broadcast--nothing extra.

Jarifa

I FF until we got to Fernando in the charro suit, which I loved. The pichon dance was way too short, given what followed.

Julia, I appreciate your attention to detail in finding something to like about this finale, Pati's necklace.

The recaps and the comments have been delightful. The show itself was a roller coaster, but helped me learn spanish.

Julie: thanks for the update. I fastforwarded through most of the final looking for the dance and song. Figured if they showed them, then I'd go back to see if anything was added to the first half. Now I won't have to do that, I'll just rewatch the last half to catch the other additions and I'll be done. Finally.

A little observation that I kept meaning to make and always forgot--loved the way Rog put a pocket hanky in his prison jumpsuit pocket.

Now I'm imagining what this TN would have been like with Erick Elias in the starring role. Sigh.

For all the people who said that Alma and Jesus are boring couple and dull in bed, that's isn't truth because Univision cut their love scenes they cut everything all kisses everything. If you want too see reall passion you need to watch Televisa episodes or you can watch my video Colunga y Soto Hot on you tube here is the link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ-wJZyEhdM

Thanks, Jas87M. Your video is definitely an improvement over what Univision showed us.

Honestly, I don't understand why Uni cut those scenes. They were steamy, but I've seen comparable scenes on daytime TV.
