Corazon Indomable Episode #129: The Various Coats of Octavio Narvaez

We begin with JA/MC discussing Simona. MC wants the Narvaez family to feel the pain she felt when they kidnapped Lupita (Too bad, I don’t think either of them care about Simona that much). However, since she is much better in character because she agrees to let JA take her back home. (The talk about something that I did not quite catch but I believe it referred to MC suspecting JA about something).

Simona returns to her house without a care in the world. She informs our two upstanding men of honor (insert dripping sarcasm here) that she just came back from a pleasant visit with Lucia. Miguel looks shocked while Octavio is worried. She bids them goodnight and tells them that they better go back home because Lucia is waiting. The minute she leaves McGreedy is quick to say Octavio should detain her in a crazy house. Octavio who decided wear his “Bleeding heart” coat today is appalled by Miguel brashness. He will care for Simona till his dying day (yea..whatever, I’ve heard that before).  Lets digress and discuss the various coats in Octavio’s closet…. lets see we have jerk, insensitive, romantic (no worries this coat is hidden with much dust over it). Then we have his most worn out coat all, which is stupidity; actually I do not think he ever takes that off.

Sorry back to the show…. Miguel does not like JA giving his opinions on these matters. JA reminds them that if he goes down…they will too (uh oh). Octavio decides to borrow someone’s “wise saying” coat and warns Miguel…. this is why you shouldn’t involve yourself with delinquents.

Apparently there are problems worrying Vargos. Supposedly the big bad guys are bringing in all their machines and the police (??) were not expecting this. The padre goes to talk to Vargos but he doesn’t believe that he can do anything for the poor people that will be affected.  Bearer of bad news Vargos also sends the Padre to inform MC that she has to leave the ranch like yesterday. He is sorry to Mr. Debby Downer but it is better to just follow orders (or something along those lines).

Once MC hears the news from the Padre, Galan # 6 or 7 (also known as the Engineer whose name I can no longer remember), is upset. The padre thinks the fight is over and they should pull out the white flag. MC and her engineer think otherwise. He does much of the talking while MC looks worried.  There is no way they are going to leave; they have all the people of Realango to take care of. Plus, once they leave it will be easy for the big bad gold hunting people to officially take over the ranch. No way Jose, is the engineer having this! To the Padre’s disappointment, they are not going to leave without a fight.

We have a funny scene (ok am I the insensitive one now??) with Simona and Ofelia. Ofelia checks in on Simona only to find her stooped by the corner of the bed looking crazy. Simona is trying to hide from the dead people that are calling her over. Ofelia looks creeped out and tries to convince Simona they are the only ones in the room.  As they exit the room Simona throws a pillow at her imaginary friends and races out the room (well played by the actress…. I had to laugh at that).

Just across the yard we have engineer guy professing his love and loyalty to MC (she has heard this many times before…been there done that..yawn). He wants to help her out this terrible situation but MC is afraid he will lose his job. He also wants her to marry him…even though he knows that she does not love him yet, he believes that she will with time (Why do the galans always believe this…oh right we are in novela land. With time love grows and conquers all).  MC has so many people depending on her, and she will not let them down. Even though SuperMari is pretty much dead, she still has a shred of dignity/pride and refuses to be a burden to others.  Engineer guy does not take no for an answer and insist that she reasons with him.

Back to the house de locos…Ofelia is having to deal with Simona’s unreasonable demands. First she wants all the Realango people kicked off her lands. She doesn’t want to mix with such people (nice to see how some things never change). Second she wants to go riding on her house….she heard of a lady who used to ride with nothing but her long hair covering her body. Oh no this is planting crazy ideas in her already crazy head. Ofelia is horrified and runs to tell Miguel. Miguel tells her pish posh….just give her breakfast and pretend what she said before never happened. To my surprise, Miguel is right and this tactic does work. Simona is no longer thinking of riding around with nothing but her long mane of glory.  Octavio greets Simona who is surprised he is here this early uninvited. Either way she is glad that he is there. Without batting an eye, she informs him of seeing a dark angel today. Today Octavio wears the coat of inconsistency…he know thinks that Miguel is probably right. Simona may need to be in a crazy house (I knew well enough to believe that he will actually care for her till his (or more likely her) last dying breath.

Octavio is spreading his inconsistency gene over to MC. She now informs JA that she is marring Engineer guy (What happened to being independent, what happened to not wanting to be a burden…sigh, no me gusta este MC para nada!).  JA is all too eager to run to Octavio with this “good news”. JA rubs it in Octavio’s face but to my surprise he is actually levelheaded. He states that she is free to do whatever she wants with her life. JA then tries another angle…well what about your kid. Octavio believes that MC will inform him where she will be so that he can visit Lupita. JA then hits the Jackpot saying that MC will never marry without love (insinuating that she must love the engineer guy), this causes Octavio to pause.  JA plants more seeds in Octavia teeny brain…he thinks that once they marry MC will no longer put Lupita first.

Miguel ponders on how this situation will fix itself. He is annoyed with his brother’s indecisiveness on the Simona situation (aren’t we all Miguel, aren’t we all). He is tired of living like a parasite. Octavio eventually wanders in and makes a decision (gasp!!)…he wants to take Lupita and his son with him and live far away. Miguel with all of Viewer groans and roll our eyes...otra vez!!! He wants to make sure Lupita will not be cast aside like an Orphan. Miguel perks up when Octavio also states that it is probably a good idea for Simona to be in an institution.  That way he can go far away to another continent. Miguel pitches in that he can stay and take over the ranch since that is what he has known all his life.

MC informs Juanita that she will marry. Juanita is confused as to why MC is marrying engineer when she still loves Octavio.  MC gives Juanita begins her hate speech on Octavio but there is no fooling her. She tells MC that their hate sure looks like love (hehehe). Anyway MC states that this marriage will put a barrier between herself and Octavio. Octavio will finally realize that she no longer cares about him. Juanita does not believe a word out of MC’s mouth and she leave the scene angrily convincing her self she will marry!!

Cute Lupita scene!! She is learning her colors with her Mami! And who knew her favorite color is purple just like me! The scene gets interrupted when Juanita informs her that they called a doctor for Solita (apparently Solita has some pulmonary infection??). MC calls someone to figure out what is going on. Guess it is not time to find out what happened with Solita yet because the next scene moves to a sleeping Lupita and her sad mommy. We hear once again the tiring “he loves me, he loves me not” theme. You can pretty much feel in the dialogue…wash, rinse and repeat! The doc is finally here to interrupt her thoughts. He breaks the news to MC that Solita is pregnant. MC looks worried/surprised (not sure why) and none to happy about this news.  Both Juanita and MC give Perico the third degree. He feigns innocence until they till him that Solita is pregnant!

Ofelia is none too happy when she hears that Octavio wants to put Simona in a crazy home. She think it is cruel that while Octavio will be off to some far away lands, Simona will be all alone and abandoned in a strange place. Ofelia does not know that he is wearing his special coat of callousness today (his brother seems to have a matching pair). As much as Ofelia begs that this place is Simona’s only home and she will care for her, Octavio will not change his mind. But we are talking of Octavio here…. king of inconsistencies. With much begging on Ofelia’s part he final realizes he is being a jerk/coward if he abandoned Simona and locked her up.  Miguel is not happy with his brother’s change of mind. However he changes his tune when Octavio lets him become the new administrator of Simona’s lands. They will send the papers tomorrow (Oh great…all that cash flowing in will dry up like a desert!! Poor Simona….or maybe not). Ands that’s all folks!! We end with that sly, greedy conniving smile of Miguel Narvaez!

Solita’s Mom Scenes

So it happens that her husband is finally dead. She seems to actually feel saddened, even though all these years he caused her pain and misery (??). She wonders why he chose the last minute to open his heart and confess the truth (?? I have no idea what this Senora is talking about). Nonetheless, she is happy that she can now find her long lost daughter. Long lost mother thinks in her head a lot. She finally arrives in the town she grew up and left Solita in. I am guessing it is in Tamilupas but we will find out.

I'm finally back!! So I spent the last day after exams trying to read the last 15 episodes I missed. My brain wanted to jump ship after I read like 10 (no fault to recappers but this plot is blah!). Anyway I probably missed a few details because I had no idea what was going on. Lo siento in advance.

Miguel and Octavio are beyond words! Simona does crazy well. 129 episodes down about 33 more to go!

I'm glad you're back CeCe, and I'm sure that your subs are too, haha.
Good job with this miserably hard to follow and fathom story. You missed nothing, because the plot never advances. And I loved the multi coated Octavio references.

Why is the Padre the one who must inform MC of the situation?
What is Vargas's position? I thought he was a cop and now he was called Ingeniero. None of this part makes sense at all.
Perito has no idea how a woman gets pregnant, and he doesn't even know he had sex with her, like the rest of the cast.
Today Octavio wants to keep Simona at home, then commit her, then keep her at home. Monday will be the same.
Today MC doesn't want to marry Alvaro, then she does. Expect the same on Monday.
So a woman who gave up her deaf daughter at birth will know exactly where to find her. Makes total sense to me.

So why is Perico's marriage to Solita the "big secret"? Now she is pregnant, so? This has become anothervVery annoying plot line.

Miguel needs to go someway or another.

Jarifa

Thanks for the recap! The best thing abt this episode, for me, was the previews for next week showing what I hope is JA getting some payback for all of his crimes.

Also, for a show that is so high on morals, unlike say PEAM, the writers have made Solita pregnant twice now, raped, and now married behind her sister's back all by the age of what? 17? What is the age of consent in MX?

One last thing, Solitas mother looks like she is in her mid to late 50's at best. That means she had Solita around 40. Isn't that kinda old to be abandoning your daughter?

Thanks for your great recap!

Jarifa

Great recap Cece. I loved the coats analogy. Great way to describe Tav's flip flops.

I can't believe the writers have made Solita pregnant. Good grief! At least her rich newly widowed mother is on her way. I'd like a bit more explanation myself on why a grown woman ditches her deaf child by the side of the road.

Thanks CeCe...glad exams are over, though your recapping duties probably seem like an eternal term paper right now.

My favorite line...

"(insert dripping sarcasm here)".

Very funny, as was your Coat of Many Colors theme.

This telenovela becomes more and more puzzling. Octavio is so perplexing. The only thing attractive about him is his gorgeous hair. MC also has gorgeous hair, as does the charming little Lupita. I too was entranced by their interaction this time. The little gal is obviously feeling more comfortable around Ana Brenda now.

And strangely enough, the despicable Ofelia now seems to be the character with the most integrity (she is consistently loyal to and protective of Simona). She's not a nice gal but she is consistently loyal to her employer, I must say.

Judy- It's true. Cordelia is the most consistent character in this tn. Always very loyal to the lady who employs her.

Ha! My tablet seemed to like the name Cordelia over Ofelia.

Vivi, your tablet sure has a mind of its own. You should just let it write what it wants to and see what it has to say.

I really should just let it decide what it wants to write all the time, and see what it comes up with. Can't be worse than the CI writers.

Maybe it could write it's own TN. Or maybe these writers are having their tablets write this show instead.

Hahaha. I'm laughing here at the tablets writing this story. You guys are funny. But don't you think computers should be given a little more credit?

Kelly

Great recap, CeCe, and welcome back.

I had such high hopes for Nilda and Abelardo but they killed off my Abelardo. I thought that he was very entertaining. I hope that Nilda on her own brings some interest to the show. It'll be interesting to see how she gets on with Solita.

Speaking of whom, why would any of Maricruz's household be surprised that she is pregnant? I anticipated this in my recap of last Friday's episode. Perico seemed genuinely surprised, but then why should that surprise anyone? But then again, maybe we have another rape on our hands. José Antonio would be my guess if that is the case. Nothing would surprise me anymore with this show.

Loved that Simona's bringing the crazy, but she almost seems to be channeling Cynthia Klitbo's character in Velo de Novia. No matter... it's welcome here.

cathyx, I was also amazed to see that she could make the piano play without touching the keys.

gringo, I'm predicting that you liked this episode... lots of movement and pretty colors. Lupita was very awake and very animated. I loved when she used the little orange balls (mini pumpkins?) as props. She was cracking me up.

Carlos

It's just so bizarre that Perico didn't tell anyone he and Solita got married. And Perico is not living with her? They just sneak off for you know what?

So bizarre.

Thanks so much Cece! Great editorial comments in-line - I really enjoyed them.

Tav has my head spinning - he's going to institutionalize Simona, steal Lupita, and run off with the two kids never to be seen again? Right after he realized how MC must have suffered after he stole Lupita the 2nd time? Right after he swore to Mig that he was going to stay with Simona until the better end? JA sure knows how to push Tav's buttons! Tav is soooooo easy to manipulate. An easily led man does not a good galan make.

It was amazing but then not really that Perico was shocked that Solita was pregnant, unless they truly didn't do the act, then I can see how he would be shocked. And if they didn't do it, we need to scour the cutting room floor for who the baby daddy is.

Audrey, like I said the other day, we only need to watch the last 10 minutes to see where things were left off for the next show, since they change by the minute.

"Solitas mother looks like she is in her mid to late 50's at best. That means she had Solita around 40. Isn't that kinda old to be abandoning your daughter?"

Carvivlie: LOL…the same thing ran through my mind but then I just let it go.

Carvivlie and ViVi: I am so mad at the Solita plot line. She is just filler it seems. Nothing that happens to her ever gets resolved. That rape thing should have been figured out a while ago. And what happened with her sign language?? Sigh

JudyB: Seriously! Who would have thought Ofelia would be the pillar of constistency and voice of reason on this show. I really liked how she told Octavio like it was. She did not back down

"But don't you think computers should be given a little more credit"
--------------------
Karen: Lol….I agree. Tablets are way smarter than this writers.
---------------
Carlos: I am sorry your favorite married couple in this show is no longer. That was one "interesting" relationship they had. Lupita and Juanita are the only good thing on this show right now. I liked how Juanita tried to reason with MC and her true feelings towards Octavio. That would have spared us 30ish painful episodes…..
----------------
"we only need to watch the last 10 minutes to see where things were left off for the next show, since they change by the minute"

Cathyx: Seriously…my backspace button was exhausted from overuse. Every darn second these characters kept flipping the switch!!

CeCe, welcome back to the endless circles of craziness and indecision here at CI. I enjoyed your recap and like the idea of Tav putting his various coats off and on.

Maybe Perico included some intimate comforts along with feeding Solita during her recent illness. He was in the bedroom with her and there wasn't always a chaperon present.

I hope he tells everyone they just got married. He was doing the deer in the headlights thing while MC and Juanita were scolding him.

I loved Simona's crazy scene, especially the pillow throw at the imaginary demons.

Nilda could have been around 30 when Abelardo picked her up and married her. That would put her in her mid to late 40s. If she looks older, maybe it's due to leading such a difficult life.

CeCe, I also made a comment about how difficult this show is to recap because of the plot not making sense and the constant flipflopping of the characters. I have to constantly go back and rewatch scenes to see if I got it right because one moment the character says one thing, then the next line or scene they say the opposite, so I have to go back to see if I got the prior scene correct or not. How many more shows do I have to recap? I need to count them and have a countdown.

I wonder why Perico kept their wedding a secret? It really makes no sense but I guess that is the norm here. MC was ultra upset about Solita's pregnancy. Another mouth to feed? No fear...Solita's mom and her husbands $$$ may bring them out of their misery....just do not put Miguel, Octavio or MC anywhere near that money

Ok. I'm watching the episode now in prep for tomorrow's episode. Doesn't seem like the doc and MC were blaming Juanita for not keeping a close enough eye on Solita? Let me get this straight. Lupita's job is to clean that giant house, do everyone's laundry, take care of Lupita, take care of no name, take care of Solita, give MC sound advice (which she ignores), and now no name #2 will be added to the mix.

Missing a word-- doesn't it seem like the doc and MC were blaming Juanita?

I watched the episode too, but I'm not sure I thought they were blaming Juanita. The doctor seemed like he couldn't understand how they could not know how Solita got pregnant, I was amazed myself that they could be so ignorant of the matter, but nothing in this show is normal or makes sense, so I left my brain at the door before I started watching it.
I don't think that Juanita has to clean or do laundry, doesn't Santa do that? But she does have to watch everyone all the time, so maybe when she was watching Lupita, Perito and Solita were having sex which apparently they didn't know they were having either.

About writing and editing. This is the avance for this episode that were shown in Mexico http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpqjix1jT_Y
MC said "yes" to Alvaro. But they cut this answer in episode. It wasn't important or what?
And I have a question. When you will start the Karmageddon countdown? I dont want you to think that it's a spoiler, but we all know, that in this show everything is possible.
I heard, that there will be 2-hours if CI after PEAM will end. Is it true?
Alegria

Thank you CeCe---Glad that you are back but am sad that you don't enjoy it as much as I do. Your closet of many coats for Oblivio was brilliant. Even I, the shows "BIGGEST" fan got a laugh out of that one. Just think,
this guy was flying a plane not too long ago. Yes, we can laugh now but I still love our couple, I have faith.

Faith? Yes I'm trying to keep the faith concerning Rancho Abuelo. I really, really, really don't want Maricruz to loose it but things are starting to look grim. The mining company wants it like now. It will take a miracle for Mari to keep the beautiful rancho and I am not sure that it's going to happen.

The best novela moment ever for me was when wild country girl Maricruz in her pretty white lace
accented dress went galloping down the country rode on the horse
That was just fantastic, a Hall of Fame moment for sure---but another GREAT novela moment is shown in the novela opening, when Maricruz finally gains ownership of Rancho Narvaez after having been mistreated so terribly by Lucia/Lucifer and Miguel. As she is walking up the driveway, the look of satisfaction and accomplishment on her face is another novela Hall of Fame Moment
for me. So I say pleeeeease Mari don't loose the ranch. Fight for it as you once did.

I have been busy painting the dining room so I probably won't be back today or at least until late tonight, so I will try to put all of my thoughts down now.

Carlos---Yes, I did like this episode but, I like "ALL" of the episodes. You know that I love the show even with it's many faults.

Jarifa---Miguel needs to go. Well
yes, we all agree on that one but
I don't think that his anvil is ready yet. I am certain that he will do more damage before the anvil is ready to fall.

I have thought this many times---has anyone else thought why the padre has time to be with everyone, everywhere, but he never is seen or spends anytime in his own church?

Awful-felia---Always chooses the dark side, makes the wrong choices
from her rapist boyfriend to Lucia/Lucifer and now to $imona. Are these the only people that she could work for? She certainly is loyal to say the least. I just can't believe how loyal she is to the dark side. Does she really like these people? I wonder.

I don't buy the line that Solita was raped. You guys are grasping at straws. Perico didn't know???
He just didn't think that Solita would get pregnant. Often young people don't think of the consequences of their actions or they think that it won't happen to them. Whatever it is. It could be a number of things but in this case it's a pregnancy. Oh No! she's pregnant, I wasn't counting on that.

$imona---I must say that Elizabeth
Alvarez is doing a great job bringing on the crazy.

Can't wait for Monday night. I feel sorry for the many who are suffering---me, I can't wait for 11/11/13 7PM
the gringo

That's road, not rode. I don't know how I missed that one.
the gringo

Oh my gosh, I'm trying to rush so that I can finish the dining room today. I meant Isadora Gonzalez is doing a great job as the crazy $imona.
the gringo

Vivi: The doc was blaming MC until he found out that she had a fiance/BF and then he relaxed. Afterwards it was MC who was upset at Juanita for not watching Solita close enough...that was my impression

CeCe, glad you came back and thanks for the marvelous recap. Yes, Tav's closet must be very full!

Some of the most consistent and most entertaining moments this week were from Miguel in his unabashed greediness and eagerness to have Simona die. I hope his anvil is not lined up to drop too soon because he has provided some good fun recently.

Simona has also been great this week as BSC though I'll give credit to Tav as well for how well he plays aghast and stunned at Simona's behavior. He has played dumbfounded (that's DUMBfounded) well against Simona's loca.

As others have noted, glad to see Lupita a little more comfortable and energized this week.

Though all of the Solita storyline aggravates me, I experienced a fleeting moment of mourning at Abelardo's passing as well. His ill-tempered and cantankerous behavior could have added a little more spice to the reunion scenes which I now fear will just be lots of sappy tears.

Though Ofelia may be a mean-spirited snob at times, I'm about at the point of forgiving her after her pleading and arguing with Octavio over sending Simona away. And, talk about Juanita being busy, where is the help for Ofelia? There is certainly enough money to hire more help to watch over Simona (24 hour help please). After Solita's lack of care, this is my next biggest aggravation.

Maybe Natrasha will earn lots and lots of money for her painting and then give it to the Realengo people. It will be a milagro and will justify Natrasha's presence in this show.

Although Ester appears to stand up to JackAss, she lets herself be verbally and emotionally abused by him. I'm not really an Ester fan since she has never regretted her MC treatment, but I hope she is part of JA's anvil in the end.

Anyway, though I can't put myself in Gringo's league, I'm still looking forward to next week!

Barbara

"Juanita being busy, where is the help for Ofelia? There is certainly enough money to hire more help to watch over Simona (24 hour help please)"

I guess I understand why Juanita is doing all the work since MC no longer has no money.

But no excuse over at the Simona household....but Barbara your solution is way to sensible for the Narvaez brothers......

Simona doesn't need to be institutionalized yet. She's not harmful to herself or anyone else/ Miguel just wants to control the ranch and he thinks if she's away, he will.
Miguel has at least been the most consistent character on this show. He wants Simona to die and to run the ranch. He hasn't wavered from that stance since he learned of Simona's impending death.

Yes, definitely Miguel should get to run the ranch ... because he did such a great job at his own! Cracks me up when he keeps insisting he should be the one to run it because "that's what I know!"

Cathyx, I don't think Simona should be institutionalized either though maybe seeing the doctor again would be nice. Simona is "lucky" enough to have the resources to be cared for in her own home.

However, I think worry about whether she would hurt herself or others is valid. She doesn't recognize her own son and threatened to throw the baby out the window.

Barbara

I honestly hope we get another Lupita kidnapping. It would just fit so perfectly with this show. Alegria said that according to the avances MC did accept the proposal, so that should make Octavio good and mad enough to take Lupita again.

And usually Urban Anthropologist starts the karmageddon countdown when the ultimas semanas start.

Hi Barbara, you and I share some of the similar concerns. I shudder to think what may be in store for Solita. She seems perpetually bewildered by the world around her. I think that it is a crime if she is still unable to read and write. I don't think that we've seen any evidence to the contrary, however. Perhaps this suddenly concerned mother will swoop in and provide her with the resources she is so desperately in need of. Even if her deafness is fixable, at this late date it will be very uncomfortable for her to adjust if she is suddenly able to hear.

Maricruz may indeed look like a goddess, but she has had some odd priorities... the goddesses of Olympus were more attentive.

I do think that little Lupita is coming out of her shell and may provide us with some entertaining moments in the coming days. Just say no to drugs, Honey.

gringo, I know that you are genuinely enjoying this show and I think that is wonderful. You say that your understanding of Spanish is limited so do watch this with the English CCs, Spanish CCs, or no CCs? Are you not at times frustrated by the inconsistencies that we carp about? Does the apparent neglect of Solita not trouble you somewhat? I'm trying to understand why you defend this disappointing (for me at least) TN with such tenaciousness.

Carlos

Thank you Cece for the recap of a somewhat bewildering episode. Although I did like MC's obvious amusement when she was pretending to be Lucia for Simona.

Even though Miguel is making me seriously ill he is indeed the most consistent character wanting to take over the ranch, and wanting that Simona die or go to the manicomio. At first I disliked him because he was so weak, and now because he is so greedy...

I think that Perico told Solita that now that they are married, that he will come by to be with her in the afternoons. And maybe that look on his face is happy shock rather than stupid shock.

Someone said it earlier, something I've been worried about as well, that we'll have two hours of CI between the end of PEAM and December 2nd. (I think I can just make out the shouts of joy from el gringo.) I believe I saw Dec. 2nd as the date for the replacement for PEAM, that stars our beloved Cynthia Montero!! Talk about someone who does crazy well!

Carlos, I would love to see Solita's mom get Solita the help she needs. I certainly think we have no evidence that Solita knows how to read or write. None of her family knows sign language outside of moving their pinky fingers up and down. It is distressing that the show could not have demonstrated what is available for the deaf.

I would be happy to see Solita's needs be addressed. And Solita may be able to forgive her mother. But with what info we have about Nilda's situation, I cannot forgive.

I don't want to put words into Gringo's mouth (but he's busy painting his dining room!) but I know he has said that he dislikes the way the writers have treated Solita as well.

Barbara

So we're back to consistently inconsistent Tav who's deadest to me. As for Awfelia, she could go to hell.
Vivi, for a while I thought a new character was introduced right under my nose. Then I read your 2nd comment.Heehee!I love how our tablets and iphones think and decide ahead of us.
So Simona is still afraid of meeting "Joe Black".
Does the TN writers listen to our gripes as they write CI? I was wondering cuz, now we see Lupita having dialogues with her mommie dearest and Santita. How cute to hear her talk.

I am very disappointed in the Solita storyline because it's sending a terrible message, that a person can't overcome a disability. I've talked to a deaf woman at my gym who reads lips, speaks, and even does Zumba without hearing the music.

Maricruz should turn over the sign language manual to Perico. It's obvious she hasn't gotten past the first page.

I think the problem with the lack of sign language is because the actors don't know how to do it, and it would take too long for them to learn. If they faked it, then people would write in and complain. It's possible that the actor who portrayed Tobias knew sign language but he had to leave the show.

In my opinion, this TN isn't nearly as bad as Que Bonito Amor. As least we're not subjected to constant whining and crying. I had to bail on that one until the finale.

I'm with you Aleta. I also bailed on QBA - not only whining and crying but also the constant fist fights. I admire the recappers for sticking it out. I couldn't even bring myself to watch the finale.

Can someone please
tell me what Maricruz is calling Lupita when she calls her a "huerquilla grenuda"? I think grenuda means having tangled hair, but I can't find the meaning for the other word.

LoriLoo, your orange tabby looks so soft. I just want to reach into the screen and pet him on his white bib. Does his tail have white spots? I can't tell from the picture.

Aleta, according to the Urban Dictionary, "huerquilla" is a slang word with a meaning similar to "chick" for a girl. It is apparently used in northern Mexico.

I figured when MC was superMari she was just psychic about Lupita's untamable hair.

Barbara

Aleta, it's a girl :)
Alegria

Aleta - my little Georgie just has stripes on his tail, no spots. But he is soft!

Seaking of soft, I think the word "hueco, or hueqilla" means soft and/or spongy. But there is no "r" in that word. I can't find a translation for "huerco/huerquilla" either. At first I though she was calling her her little "bones" but that would be "hueso"... this is one reason I watch TNs - to learn new spanish words.

I bailed on Que Bonito Amor early on. I don't like Mariachi music, but the constant back and forth love/leave between the main couple was more of a turn off than the Mariachi.

Thanks for the info. I could not find "huerquilla" in my dictionary. I watch with the Spanish captions on, and sometimes I look up words, but too often I'm lazy and I use the recaps to fill in the blanks.

@Cece - welcome back. Thanks for the great recap, and for enduring the pain of this horrendous plot along with the rest of us.

@Carlos - loved the "just say no to the drugs, honey" line. Hilarious.

I must say it's odd that many complained about the lack of names for the babies. But no one has mentioned lately that a lot of babies appear to have simply vanished. No sign of Octavito and Miguelito in AGES, and Solita's no-name has been played by either a sack of potatoes or a baby-doll lately. He didn't even move when Solita took off with Perico to get married, and where was he when the doc was examining Solita? Well, to answer my own questions, I'm guessing they have then all running around outside (not being deprived of vitamin D like Lupita) so they can get as much Tamaulipas air as necessary for much-needed growth spurts.....and maybe some sun-bleached hair in the process.

@Aleta - I'm fluent in Spanish, but I had never heard the word "huerquilla" before either. As already mentioned by Barbara, though, it is a slang word commonly used in northern Mexican states like Tamaulipas.

My Dad was raised in Chihuahua and says huerco refers to "un nino o chamaco". Huerquilla would be the feminine version.

Cece - enjoyed your recap as well as all the others this week.

Hi guys---I'm back, but was not able to finish the dining room. I wasn't going to do the ceiling but
decided if I didn't, it wouldn't match or look right, so I am on to that today. Even though I'm busy, I read every comment. As I have stated many times, I'm a BIG
CI fan.

Carlos---I hope that I can answer your question without writing a book. I know that I don't express
my thoughts as well as others do but I will try.---I have stopped
watching American TV one hour shows, you know like NYPD or Miami Vice. They can always catch
the bad guy [bank robber, jewelry
thief, arsonist, whatever] in an hour, no, actually less than that when you add in commercials. It's
ridiculous. The same goes for movies---ok, you get two hours with a movie but it's practically
the same. Yes there are some good movies that I would go to but they are getting expensive so novelas to the rescue. I have said this before but for now, one more time. I am not a world traveler and will probably never get to Mexico, the novelas are like a travel log for me. The locations are gorgeous, it's my way of being there. The acting is as good as from any country in the world. I have seen many Oscar
worthy scenes. I like the fact that I get to learn a little about the Latin culture. And---the opposite of the one hour American shows, I like novelas because they draw out the story line. They expand an idea. Often you get to see the characters grow up as their lives progress, that's pretty hard to do in a one or two hour movie. No, I don't have CC's and do not know Spanish.
The Caray recappers are a Godsend
to me. I love you guys, yes, even when you whine complain. OK--OK
inconsistencies. Yes Corazon Indomable has them and so does every novela out there. When you have an expanded story with several characters, it is, would be impossible to format/expand on every character involved, so you get some holes in the story. Carlos, we have imaginations, we can fill in the blanks. Rebelde was 440 episodes, would you want to recap 440 episodes? It was utterly ridiculous that Maricruz was called an "unfit mother" because the writers didn't give Lupita her "required" 15 minutes each night. Now lets see, 20 more episodes for that. Expand the Solita storyline. OK, add another 20 episodes. The same goes for the characters on Isla Dorada. Do you want to pay Televisa for all of the added episodes? Come on Carlos, we have minds, we can fill in the blanks with our imaginations. To answer your question---yes I get a little flustrated at times but I like the overall story so much that I don't let a little hole here or a hole there bother me. The main part of the story is still there, so I'm a very happy camper.

Barbara---Good point about Natrasha. She could sell her painting and use the money to help the people of realengo, but will she? Also, I think that the gun Natrasha carries will have a use in the future.

Yes, I'm a little flustered over the writing for Solita, but remember that Solita is a secondary character. I do think that things will get better for her though.

LoriLoo--- Shouts of joy from the gringo, you are so right. The recappers won't be happy though.

Cathyx---ITA The actors would have a hard time learning their lines and sign language too, so they just fake it.

Can't wait for 7PM.

Thanks for your thoughtful response, gringo.

"The Caray recappers are a Godsend
to me."

That really is such a nice thing for you to say and I think I speak for all of the recappers when I say that we are delighted that our efforts enhance your enjoyment of the TNs and this TN in particular.

You also said,

"Come on Carlos, we have minds, we can fill in the blanks with our imaginations."

Indeed we do, which brings me to one other thing you said,

"It was utterly ridiculous that Maricruz was called an "unfit mother" because the writers didn't give Lupita her "required" 15 minutes each night."

Perhaps, but it was just an effort to "...fill in the blanks with our imaginations."...and of course, an effort to entertain with some irreverent humor.

As for

"Rebelde was 440 episodes, would you want to recap 440 episodes?

Rebelde? 440 episodes? Just shoot me now.

Carlos

Carlos: Your one-liners are hilarious.

"Rebelde? 440 episodes? Just shoot me now." Haha...I dont think I can watch a high school/tween novela anymore...recap 440 episodes...that would be torture.

"Just say no to drugs...." LOL...seriously look at her parents.

Thoroughly enjoyed the recap (I enjoy each one - thanks to all recappers!).

I have enjoyed the comments too. You guys are the best. Even if some of you are not enjoying the madness of this novela. At least, it will end eventually. Unlike American soap operas that have yet to be canceled and have been on as long as (or longer than) I have been alive.

Anyway, I am sitting on the couch eagerly awaiting tonight's episode. :-D
