Corazon Indomable Wed 12/18/2013 Doris gets punched, and I am finally free!

 This is my last recap but before I go off into the sunset I wanted to take a second to thank you all for the kind words and the encouragement you have provided these last few months. I started to recap because I was going through a bad time in my life, my mom had passed away and my boyfriend had dumped me, one of the things that made me happy was reading the recaps here (and the snarky comments!), when the opportunity to recap came up I jumped on it because I needed something to look forward to and I also thought that maybe it was the first step back into doing things I enjoyed. I was right. All of you here have given me things to smile/laugh about in a time when I really needed it and for that I will always be in your debt. You are the best behaved group of people in the whole internet, you are all smart, witty and down right hilarious and it has been a pleasure getting to know all of you :) (shout out to Emeraldrose, my one and only interwebz fan,lol). Now for the recap;

Can't a girl just shop in peace?

Maricruz and Alvaro are out shopping and she has a moment straight out of Pretty Woman, but worse, because the sales lady recognizes her as the woman that killed the painter and man does that get ugly fast. I guess in Mexico having a naked painting is a major "nono' because the sales lady is brutal, she tells MC that she is probably guilty and that her release must have come about due to her having bought an official or having a lawyer do unethical things in order to ensure her release. Well I for one have learned to never allow myself to be painted naked, cause people will judge, someone will die and you will end up in the pokey and also people would go blind. Maricruz escapes the store and bumps into one of Alfonso's friends, he says he believes her and that he knows she did not murder his friend, MC is not up for the conversation and Alvaro has to come and rescue her from someone that was actually being nice to her.

In the car MC cries to Alvaro that people everywhere will recognize her and believe that she is a murderer, well my love, should of thought of that before confessing to a crime you did not commit!

Stuff I don't care about

Alvaro has a daughter, she has issues and needs a babysitter because I guess getting her professional help is too much to ask, so instead they keep her locked up at home and her poor aunt has to babysit her and what's the best cure for a teenager that's dealing with depression? Another baby sitter! But this one is young and pretty and is sure to fix all of Elsa's problems, at least that's what Elsa's aunt tells her. Elsa is not buying what her aunt is selling.

Brace yourselves for a rant, this telenovela has introduced another character that's bat shit crazy. I think her name is Elise and I find her so offensive that I don't even care enough to go research the characters name. Why is it that ALL the women shown on this show are so stupid, crazy and desperate for the love and affection of men that clearly don't want them? Whoever wrote for these characters should hang his/her head in shame. Shame on Televisa for giving us the same version of the same woman on this show, Ester,Doris, Araceli, Elise, Carlota and Simona, all wanted men that wanted nothing to do with them, and the only one with half a brain cell was Carlota, at least she was always honest about what she wanted:Don Alejandro's money, but what's the excuse for the other women? My god, Mexico has millions of men living there, was there really no one better than Octavio or Alvaro, or hell even Eduardo! I'm just so embarrassed that another woman on this show has been portrayed as being crazy and obsessed with a man who does not love her.

That's pretty much all you need to know about Elise who goes to visit Elsa and gets a nasty surprise, daddy got a young, hot girl to move in and look after Elsa, Elise is not happy to hear this and is still at Alvaro's house when he arrives with Maricruz in tow. She makes a scene and wants to know what MC is doing there. Alvaro has more of a backbone than Octavio and tells her that MC is there to look after Elsa and that it really is none of her concern what Maricruz is doing in his home,  he makes it clear that he does not want her in his home. she tells him she can come and go as she pleases. What the hell? She can just come into his home uninvited? Is that even legal? MC is uncomfortable listening in to the conversation and tries to excuse herself so that Alvaro can speak with his girlfriend privately. He tells her that Elise is not his girlfriend and Elise claims that she is, she also threatens to make Alvaro's life a living hell. Eh, has that ever worked for anyone? Can you threaten your way into a mans heart? "Love me or I'll stab you!" is not really very romantic, but Elise seems to think that's the way to go. Juarever.

Alvaro then takes MC to meet Elsa, the two seem to bond and later Alvaro tells MC that Elsa got caught up with a bad boy, he was older and wanted to get Elsa into his apartment, Alvaro threatened him with violence and locked Elsa up for her safety. Maricruz tells him this guy reminds her for that lowlife Alfonso- Alvaro looks muy impactado- hey folks, it really is a small world!

THE BEST PART OF THIS TELENOVELA IS HERE, GET SOME POPCORN AND ENJOY (Carlos, you will probably want to look away....)

Octavio and Doris are in his apartment (why is he still with her?!!!) and her father is on the line, he wants to come over and visit and Doris gives him the address to Octavios apartment. Doris wants to give her father the good news, she and one cell Tav are getting married!

The Governor finally makes it to the apartment and is not pleased with the news of the upcoming wedding, he tells Doris that she is going back to Isla Dorada with him and she refuses. She says that she is going to marry Octavio and that she does not care if he likes it or not. A screaming match starts and daddy tells her that if she marries Octavio he will pull his financial support and she wont have a dime to her name! Doris then informs him that that's what Octavio is there for, to take care of her! The look on Octavio's face was priceless, it said "aww hell naw, you mean I gots to support you? B*tch you crazy". The confrontation escalates and the governor finally does what everyone in viwerville has wanted to do more than once. He slugs Doris! You heard that right, he punched Doris! In the face! While Octavio stood there and watched! IT.WAS.AWESOME. I would like to thank the baby Jesus for this wonderful gift, that scene almost made watching this show worth it. Almost. oh and kids, violence is bad. Don't punch anyone!

Octavio finally moves and breaks up the fight he tells El Governador that he will not allow him to mistreat Doris and he is told that he (el Governador) can do anything to Doris, especially because she is his child! Doris tells her father that the plan was for her and Octavio to return to the island but daddy says he does not want them there, not together and not alone! Once he leaves Doris tries to convince Octavio to go back to Isla Dorada, he says "nope, not gonna happen, we can go anywhere in Mexico but we are not going back there!"

The previews for tomorrow show MC getting stabbed, god how I wish they would just stab her, kill her character off and have this awful thing end. I know I missed some things but I worked a 12 hour day and will probably have a long day today again, so feel free to add to this in the comments!

Thanks for being steadfast and providing so many excellent recaps for a very odd novela.

((((Eli))) ..I am sending you good vibrations and a big cyber hug. I send my sympathy to you. None of us escapes hurt and heartbreak. Life moves us forward. I discovered my first telenovela Alborada and this site before it was even named Caraycaray just after my mother died six years ago, so I understand how helpful this place can be for a little escape from reality. It is a great place to share thoughts, feelings,

The jail door is open, Eli. You are free of this awful series.

This new female is just what this story doesn't need... another hint that it's been extended. At least it wasn't.

It's a not a new character - she was Alfi's friend or lover, who knows. her name is Liz.
And my congratulations. Soon we all be free.
Alegria

This has now become the Alfonso show. You have Elsa, Liz and MC all under the same roof. That boy sure got around. I still don't understand the connection between Liz and Alvaro. Can someone enlighten me?

tofie, they were engaged.
And now I think, it's all about Elsa and Alvaro.
Alegria

Thanks so much Eli! I'm glad recapping was good therapy for you. I certainly enjoyed your recaps.

Agreed - Elise is unbelievably obnoxious! What's with all these obnoxious crazy stalker women?!!!! Ya basta!

OK - so Alvaro didn't know the name of the person MC was in jail for murdering? Tell me it ain't so!!

Loved you pointing out MC wailing about everyone thinking she's a murderer, LOL! Didn't you expect that when you confessed?

Well done, Eli! I'm so glad you decided to become a recapper, and I hope this provided even half as much joy as you did to us with your wonderful recaps and comments.

Last night I could help but feel that Tav and MC had become secondary characters to Doris and Alvaro. MC just stood back and watched Alvaro and Liz having their fight, while Tav did the same with Doris and the Gov.

By the way, when did the Gov become a woman beater? The new writers forgot what a pushover the guy is, especially when it comes to Doris.

Eli, thank you for a wonderful final recap! This is truly a unique and a friendly place on the internet.

I wish I had had my popcorn ready because: Yes, that punch was like a gift. I couldn't believe it! A slap would have been bad enough but a punch? And he can do what he wants to do with her since she is his daughter??? What a switcheroo with the ever patient Guv of times gone by.

Octavio still talking maybe sort of kind of marriage with Doris ???? Just when you thought he had made up his mind. At least he wasn't going back to Isla Dorada--as of this episode.

Looks like a lot of action in the last 3 episodes. Can't we just jump to the wedding and call it a day?

Jarifa

@Eli - thank you so much for enduring all this with us. I'm glad to hear that it at least gave you some much needed distraction after what you went through with your mom's passing and the ex-boyfriend. Your final recap was so funny, it reminded me of another scene from Pretty Woman, where Julia Roberts character said "I almost peed my pants" when she was at the opera. I could say the same thing, especially after reading the part about Doris getting punched.

It's clear that this will not be "resolved", if you can call it that, until the last 15 mins as they keep introducing new plot twists and cliffhangers like crazy.

But hubby and I won't believe in any resolution for a minute. Even if they get married, 2 mins after the show ends they'll be at outs, MC will run off with Lupita and Juanita, and Tav will look around for another woman to get married but explain that he has to divorce MC (again) first.

And is it going to be a church wedding? Did they forget about Octavio's church wedding already? Seems like it - Doris told him they could have a church wedding (was that supposed to be an enticement for Tav to return to Isla Dorada?!?).

All these years have gone by and MC and Tav only ever had sex with each other way back in the bad old days when she was the original salvaje. What a dry spell!!!

Eli thanks for your hilarious recap and sharing your story. Through this blog I've met so many great people and I'm glad you know that as well.

I forget who mentioned this but it truly seems that a different set of writers are now in charge. As Vivi mentioned, the Luv Gov I knew would NEVER have punched his daughter. And Eli, your reaction to this was priceless.

I know this is mute but I can't believe in the final episodes after keeping the chemistry laden protagonists apart they would still have them apart and playing second fiddle to weak plots & characters.

Thank you, Eli, for a job well done and YEY, you're done, too!

Audrey, I agree with you - who's to say that they don't fight two minutes after they say 'I do' and they continue their game? The best part is that we won't have to see them, though, they can find until the end of eternity OFF SCREEN!!!

Eli:

Thanks so much for this wonderfully, snarky last recap for CI and I am glad you decided to recap. Sending you virtual hugs also for your loss.

Liz is as whacked out as ShutUpDoris! It amazes me that the writers just threw in this storyline too. I think it may be because all the villains have gotten their endings and they are just throwing any old thing in. It would have made more sense if in the last couple episodes, they had Tav going around the City looking for MC and not wasting his time with SUD.

Speaking of SUD, wow! I never expected the Gubanador to sock her the way he did. It seems he has had more than enough of SUD as we have had in Viewerville, apologies to Carlos. At least the writers have been consistent with Tav marrying women he doesn't love.

I think MC should have taken Clementina up on her offer instead of working for Alvaro. At least MC is not contemplating marrying someone she doesn't love. What I have gotten so far from this TN is that MC really does love TAV, she hasn't remarried. She has contemplated it, but never done it. Tav on the other hand......................

Thanks again Eli for all your fab recaps for this TN.

Alvaro has been direct in wanting MC to be his but some of the things he is doing are unsettling and not so pure. He got a call from the lawyer so he could be the first to see MC, started on her immediately and what he did when Alfonso's friend was talking to her was over protective at best and kinda creeped me out. He has is own daughter under house arrest, his ex fiance young enough to be his daughter coming around (hid that from MC) and springs his new chickie on them all (and all are connected to Alfonso). By hook or crook he will pressure or deceive MC into being with him. Alvaro, I hope, is exposed a villain. That would be worth watching the remaining episodes.

Eli , what a talented recapper you are. You're take on the punch had me guffawing...especially the violence is bad notation. (Violence was awesome is this instance.)

I'm glad you found some solace in being a recapper, but I'm so sorry it was in this show.

Eli, thanks so much for another great recap. Loved "can't a girl just shop in peace?"
This show has just been a witch's cauldron of bitchy, demanding women! It's good to see it coming to an end. The Gov. could have saved us (and Tav) a pile of misery if he had reined in Doris years ago.
It's good to know the role recapping has played for you--proves that CI served a purpose beyond mere entertainment.
This is a wonderful place to come to play and share our guilty TN addiction.

Eli! This recap is so absolutely hilarious I wanted it to go on and on! Two faves: "Love me or I'll stab you!" is not really very romantic." and "The look on Octavio's face was priceless, it said "aww hell naw, you mean I gots to support you? B*tch you crazy". Gosh! I love the voice you bring, I feel right at home!

Oh, another fave, laughed right out loud: "I would like to thank the baby Jesus for this wonderful gift, that scene almost made watching this show worth it." Oh. My. Gosh! Girl this whole is screaming funny!

I wish you a wondrous holiday, however you recognize it and while I am a late comer to the show your touching introduction makes me happy to have checked in with the caray bunch again. Thank you so much!

Lila

I have come to think of this novela as Groundhog Day. It just keeps going round and round...new characters , new plots randomly throw at the wall to see what sticks...........no progress. Basta. make it stop.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful recaps!!

I was shocked when the Luv Guv hit Doris but I quickly decided that Tav is to blame. Tav, knowing he isn't going to marry Doris, should have tried to stop all of this. As much as I hate Doris, Tav knows that she will have to go crawling back to Daddy when this ends. This whole fight could have been avoided had Tav just had the balls to tell Doris off. But he keeps her in his back pocket for a rainy day.

So I'm thinking that girl Liz will hire the guy who ultimately stabs MC. It worked well in PEAM.

I am starting to think that the ending to this show is going to be very, very disappointing. When a show is bad you need a really good ending to at least give closure to the fans. I'm worried this isn't going to come close to happening.

What wonderful way to wrap up your term as a recapper for this show. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom... certainly no one can fill that void, but as for the boyfriend thing... it's his loss. I'm glad that we could, at least in part, be like a carton of Chunky Monkey for you.

I've really enjoyed you sharing yourself with us in your recaps as well as your comments. It bears saying again... for a short girl... you sure write tall.

I'm always happy to see folks entertained by our TN, but they certainly did not accurately portray our Luv Guv faithfully by having him hit Doris (as flawed as she might be... she's his pride and joy). Thanks for noting this as well, Vivi and Karen.

Will anyone with any insight or information as to what is ailing Elsa please come forward and share that information with us. I am completely confused as to why she is even here.

Carlos

Eli, you have been a treasure and we are the lucky ones to have enjoyed your humor and wonderfully written recaps. Hope to read more of your wonderful work in the future.

As for last night, and you're absolutely hysterical retelling, of "THE PUNCH"...my jaw just fell. A slap, yeah I can see, but gees.
And the Alvaro mess...why oh why???

This whole series has just gotten off the rails from any sort of real story telling. It's like watching random snap shots of separate stories and Tav and MC just walk through them for continuity. Perish the thought of what the finale will look like ( or do we really care). I don't think the patio could even play a drinking game at stupid moments because we'd all be under the table before 30 minutes was over.

Daisynjay

Eli -- Thank you for a fun romp with CI. You did a great job with the recaps.

I have never met you, but the love and tenderness you showed for your mother has touched my heart and I will always remember you.

Hopefully we will meet up again in this cyber jungle.

Feliz Navidad my friend.

Oh Eli, your intro was straight from the heart, and a welcome reminder that this community isn't just about learning Spanish, or watching hot romances or cracking wise. It's also about listening to each other, caring about each other and always, always being supportive.

We may snark about the show, but we DON'T criticize each other.

Losing a parent is so very hard. I hope you have many tender and treasured memories to comfort you during down times.

Now about that 12-hour work day! that sounds illegal, amiga mia, though I know nurses often work 12-hour days so they can have an extra day off a week. Still, it sounds very grueling. I know you are young and indestructible, but still....

As for that heartless beau, well, been there, done that. I wish it were otherwise, but you WILL come out stronger, wiser, and even more loving the next time around.

And thanks for faithfully recapping this train wreck and always "writing tall"!

Adriana Noel---From yesterday. Yes it is hard to get through all of the sarcasm but I must admit that your "CI BULLIES" statement did make me laugh.

Naima---That was a funny story yesterday.

Lila---After thinking about it, I guess that a protagonist would not get killed off at or near the end. Then you said, it wouldn't surprise me. Some have stated that it has happened, I didn't know that. The knife scene in the previews looks really scary but does Marycruz really get stabbed?
It's hard to tell. That would be terrible, I'm holding my breath. If it really does happen, Tav will
finally get his brain cell/cells working and he will be by her side
until the end however that will be. That's my guess but who knows what these writers have in store for us?
the gringo

Probably she's only wounded, gringo, and that will bring her to a new level of understanding about how fragile life is and how one should treasure every moment and not let love get away. . .you know maybe a near death experience revelation or Christmas miracle. You seem really devoted to this show gringo and I never want to mock anyone's heartfelt passion so I hope it does turn out this way! :D

Lila

Lila- I think that's how it will play out. A near death experience might be the only thing that will get MC back on track with her life.

Actually I do not think the writers wrote the "punch in the face" scene in the script. I think the actor who plays Doris' father just couldn't take her and whole TN anymore and went for it.

Gringo, in spite of our crankiness with the writing, we all hope MariCruz survives and lives happily ever after. Octavio too. Together! With little Lupita.

Now I can't say I'm particularly wishing that for Doris. But I will give the actress props for playing her part to obnoxious perfection. Normally, Ingrid Martz is cast as a fluffy, sweet, somewhat naive character, so this is quite a change.

But now please...with all these spare men around, can't we find someone for Juanita?! She's sweet, she's pretty, she's healthy, and great with kids. Total marriage-bait. If the writers are hell-bent on side stories, that's one I would have enjoyed.

Hey yeah, JudyB, Juanita is just WONderful! They should find someone for her!

Vivi and all of y'all who've seen so many novelas, don't they get predictable after a while, especially after multiple remakes? Can a novella break the rules but be good? I realize that character inconsistency and dropped or dumb plot lines are never a treat but maybe CI has broken some monotony?

Lila

Juanita does deserve a break but not some old geezer like Alvaro. Early 20's girl with a guy that has to use "Just for Men" hair color......just no.

Lila- After seeing a number of good and innovative tns, CI doesn't impress me with being "different/innovative" in any way (just a series of stale storyline strung together in a way that doesn't make much sense). But even very rosa/classic tns can be done really well, like Un Refugio Para el Amor. So it's not the genre of tn that's the problem either. This was just a poorly done tn.

Thanks all for your kind words!

Lila- there have been some great telenovelas in the past, Amor Bravio, La que no podia amar and La reina Del Sur, I have no idea what happened to this production but I think it was just plain old bad writing. I think we should all apply for jobs at Televisa-we could do better than this!

Eli---I feel sorry for your loss and the hurt in your life. None of us would have known or even guessed anything like that because your recaps were soooo good. Life is hard and we all go through these hurtful times. You have covered your hurt exceptionally well with your great writing. I was expecting another trash CI recap this morning but you actually had me laughing even though you fell out of love with the show. Like an actor that doesn't like the part that they are playing they do a great job anyway, so it is with you and your recap. It was a job
well done.

I for one have learned to never allow myself to be painted naked,
cause people will judge, someone will die and you will end up in the poky and also, people will go blind.---How can this not be a winner I ask?---Yes I laughed and
I also laughed when you wrote --I would like to thank the baby Jesus for this wonderful gift.
You rock Eli.

Alegria---They were engaged? I thought that the model Liz was after Alfie. I also thought that I heard Elsa address the other lady as mommy but she's the aunt?
Wow, what's going on here. So Alvaro is engaged and he's chasing
Maricruz. Que?

Tofie---Yes, Alvaro sure has been hiding a lot of things hasn't he?
Good guy/bad guy? There's a lot of skeleton's hiding in his closet.

Carvivlie---I agree. If Tav had been stronger all of that last night could have been avoided. He has never been strong enough to put an end to Doris. It's too bad that he just allowed her to get her hopes up. Come on Tav, man up.

the governor should not have hit Doris but think about it---even that didn't shut her up, she's unstoppable.

JudyB---Now I can't say that I'm practicality wishing that for Doris. LOL Poor Doris, she can't get a break.
Yes---someone nice for Juanita. She deserves it.

I especially liked your subheading "Stuff I Don't Care About." Ditto.

Carlos, you asked what is ailing Elsa? My opinion is only that, and not informed by any particular knowledge or background.

I think she suffers from adolescent romantic fantasizing, with a side of self-centered obsessive drama addiction. She may have been both ignored and indulged as well. She should visit her daddy in the country and see the troubles the Realengo people have.

Thanks Eli. I think some of those are on hulu+. I took about a two year break and rencently saw PESE, PEAM and LT. PESE and LT were great, PEAM, eh.

Lila

Maybe the weekend discussion, as a holiday gift to Gringo, could be what we actually liked about this show. Was there anything?

I'll say that I'm much more interested in ABC after this. I saw her in LQNPA and wasn't impressed. Partly because I didn't like that story either (still say the galan should have gone to jail), but it was Susanna Gonzales and Fabian Robles that kept me around for it much more than AB. But if she can keep people watching this dreck then think what she could do with a better production. I look forward to that.

Kelly

Kelly....I can tell that you are a very positive, kindhearted person.

P

Doris deserved more than that punch. It's always about her... selfish brat.

Kelly, first let me agree with you about Rogelio in LQNPA... he definitely deserved to end up in jail.

About the weekend discussion, as a recapper, I really don't much care if there's praise or not, as long as there's discussion. As far as I'm concerned, the more comments the merrier. Heck, I even enjoy reading criticism of my recaps and comments.

I'm expecting some rather robust conversation here this weekend because this show was so captivating and exciting at the very beginning and then just seemed to loose steam and deflate.

For me there was a definite downward turn with the removal of Simona's facial mole.

Carlos

Eli, I'm so glad you're now free. I felt a certain amount of relief too when I wrote my last one. I'm glad to hear the caray has been a positive in you life of negatives right now. Thanks for all the work you've put in to this show.

I didn't watch and I doubt I will, but your description of the punch has left me surprised. The governor slugs his daughter. Do you mean slap? To me a slug is a closed fisted hit. Did he really do that?

To Gringo: I'm sorry that the negativity of the comments and recaps about this show bothers you, but too many people think this show is horrid and I can't think that everyone is just wrong on that fact. Thank you for sticking with the recaps and it's nothing personal toward you for liking this show, but it's also nothing personal for those of use who despise this show either. We are all armchair critics and we all have opinions and we all like to express them so don't take it personally if we don't like something that you do like. I actually like brusselsprouts but I don't get offended by others who despise them and talk negatively about them.

Cathyx- Yes. An actual closed fist punch. It was quite shocking and NOT like the old Luv Gov at all. But with these writers, everyone and anyone can get a personality transplant at any time. For this reason, I'm glad they never brought Tobias back, because I know the writers would have changed his personality and made me hate him.

That definitely leaves me speechless. A man doesn't usually hit a woman like that, let alone a doting father to the daughter he has spoiled all his life. I wonder how the actors reacted to having to do that.

Hi, y'all!

Allow me to interrupt this nice recap (with a nicer introduction, BTW) since I lost track of my recapping team (I don't know what came in the PEAM slot, 8pm 7 central), because I want to wish everybody a Felíz Christmas and a Merry Navidad! And that a little of this spirit stay with us for the rest of the year. Yes, we need at least one little Christmas light in our hearts all the time, if not the whole strand.

Keep the faith!
