Fri. 12/20/13 Corazón Indomable ♡ All About Elsa ♡

Well, all good things must come to an end... fortunately, so must all dreadful things as well. I present you with a recounting of of the penultimate episode of Corazón Indomable. For a brief time there it looked as though my luck had run out and I would be struggling with the final 2 hr. episode, but thanks to an emergency unexpected telethon on Univision last Friday, that episode was postponed until Sunday and fortunately for us, Vivi and CeCe will be doing the honors. The first paragraph of this recap covers a short period of time that preceded tonight's episode that was presented on Univision. It was the beginning of capitulo 160 which I discovered on line and I already had the paragraph written and hate to waste effort so I left it in. I hope you don't mind a bit of repetition.

Maricruz is sitting at the foot of Elsa's bed chatting with Elsa. Elsa, still not aware that Alfonso is dead is trying to recruit Maricruz's assistance in returning the deceased one to her. She's clearly in the wrong telenovela. She needs to be over at Mentir Para Vivir where resurrection of the dead is a rather common occurrence. Perhaps Maricruz could put in a call to Padre Plaid.  Because Maricruz is a practicing idiot, she agrees to help Elsa find Alfonso. Should be easy enough but not with quite the result that  Elsa is hoping for.

Here is where tonight's TV presentation actually begins.

Liz arrives at Alvaro's place in her little red car and parks it at the curb. Skankery must pay fairly well as it's a rather nice car, and her too tight, too short, maroon dress and spike heels all look to be expensive... if a bit slutty. She rings the bell at the gate and thought bubbles about a moment of vengeance against two people, especially Alvaro. She is soon admitted by a housekeeper and led to the big house. Looks like her other target is Maricruz since she seems to be glad that Maricruz is there. She tells her that she is here to visit Elsa. Maricruz says sure and lets her pass.

Wearing a tee shirt and children's pajama bottoms with little teddy bears imprinted on them (at first I thought it was Hello Kitty PJs), Elsa seems happy to have a visitor. She's busy brushing her hair and admiring her image in the mirror as Liz walks in.

"For A Spoiled Brat I Sure Am Cute."

"¡Hola Liz!"

Liz wonders why she seems so happy and Elsa explains that thanks to Maricruz, she is finally going to catch up with the love of her life, Alfonzo. This seems slightly strange to Liz since... ALFONSO IS DEAD! She takes a moment to toy with Elsa, asking her if Maricruz has told her that,

"Maricruz was Alfonso's lover!"

Meanwhile Magdalena is happy that Maricruz was able to cheer Elsa up. Maricruz explains that they share a little secret. Maggie's not happy to learn that Liz is chatting with Elsa. Poison.

Poison indeed. Elsa is further informed that Maricruz was not only Alfonzo's lover, but that he painted her nude.

"Drat! I Broke A Nail."

Elsa suddenly suspects that Elsa is involved with Alfonso.

Oh honey, it's much worse than that. Alfonso is dead.

Octavio is searching for Maricruz. It suddenly occurs to him that doña Clementina, Alfonso mother might know where she is. He hails cab B-07-439.

Elsa is stunned to hear that Alfonso is,

"Dead?"

Oh honey, it's much worse than that. Maricruz killed him.

Yikes! And Liz has newspaper clippings to prove it.

"Look! I've Even Highlighted The Naughty Bits"

"¡Noooo!"

Even as they rejoice over Elsa's improvement M&M hear shrieking coming from the direction of Elsa's room.

Liz encourages Elsa to catch up on the news,

"Go on, Go on reading."

Elsa reads aloud,

"María Alejandra Mendoza, also known as Maricruz Olivares confessed to the murder of Alfonso del Olmo. Apparently she killed him out of jealousy because she learned that he was going to marry another woman."

Now we all know that's not quite how it went down but Elsa leaps to the conclusion that she herself is that other woman and is understandably distraught.

"THEY CANCELED DUCK DYNASTY?"

At first M&M think that Elsa and Liz must be playing some game but then recognize, what with the blood-curling shrieking and all, that it might be something more serious and rush in.

A rather ugly scene ensues. Accusations are hurled and denied. Liz suggests that Maricruz escaped from jail because Alvaro used his money and influence.

Maricruz of course professes her innocence.

("Wow! Maricruz Sure Has A Cute Butt")

Octavio visits Clementina.

"OMMMM!"

She has no idea where Maricruz is. They chat awhile both agreeing  that this is going better than the last time he visited.

"Pull My Finger"

Back at Alvaro's place things are still a little tense. Elsa accuses. Maricruz denies. Liz gloats. Magdadela dithers. Finally Elsa pounces on Maricruz.

("Gee, Elsa Has A Cute Butt, Too.")

No serious damage is done.

Octavio sips coffee and continues chatting with Clemtina. She will help if she can.

After a few more harsh words, Maricruz invites Liz to leave and offers her assistance.

"You Brought This Child A Copy Of Fifty Shades Of Gray?"

Liz tells Maricruz that Alvaro is hers as Maricruz escorts her out... by her hair. Once outside, one word leads to another and when Liz calls Maricruz a slut (mujerzuela), Maricruz delivers a slap.

"Excuse Me, There Was A Mosquito On Your Cheek."

Liz responds with a slap, and this awakens Maricruz's primal survival instincts and she slugs Liz with her right fist. Ouch! Maricruz then guides Liz to a conveniently located puddle (at least it's not mud) and dumps her in it. Liz then goes nuclear and threatens (promises?) to reveal to Elsa her true origin... yup... Alvaro's precious daughter is a bastard... adopted... picked up off the street. That's the dreadful secret she shares with Alvaro.

"I'll Get You My Pretty And Your Little Monkey Too!"

As she leaves she hurls one last invective... fishwife! or maybe vegetable vendor! (verdulera!)... woooo.

After commercial, Maggie tries to explain to Elsa that they kept Alfonso's death from her to spare her suffering and grief. She wanted to inform her but her daddy thought that it was best not tell her the truth. When Maricruz returns to the room Elsa renews her accusations that Maricruz is a murderess. Maricruz thinks that it's time to call the Dr. Elsa becomes more agitated, mildly assaults Maricruz, and finally conks out.

"Snap Out Of It Kid, You're Making Me Look Bad On My First Day At Work."

Oh well... Dr.'s on his way. For me it was just as well. Elsa is a very pretty girl who is giving this part her all and ordinarily I'd be intrigued, but since I find this whole Elsa thing to be slightly annoying I'm down with her swoon. Maybe if she were dressed in a teddy instead of a tee shirt and teddy bear pajama pants ...

As he drives home, instead of texting or chatting on his cell phone like any normal person, Alvaro thinks and pouts.

"Maybe Emelia Would Send Me One Of Those Beanies."

Why can't this woman young enough to be his own daughter fall in love with him as a man instead of loving him like a brother?

Back home the Dr. has examined Elsa and as Maricruz follows him out into the hall he gives her the devastating news about what he his examination of Elsa has revealed... she is a hopelessly spoiled, self-centered adolescent girl who thinks that the whole world revolves around her.

"I'm Sorry, But In This Case Euthanasia Just Isn't An Option."

She is suffering a teenaged crisis and the short termed prognosis is very bad... she will continue being a teen-aged girl for the foreseeable future. He has administered a strong sedative but it will eventually wear off and she will relapse and be be pretty much insufferable again before long. He has prescribed yet another medication that will help keep her doped up and somewhat manageable. Things look pretty hopeless right now so his recommendation is to continue indulging her whims and he actually says,

"Just go with the flow (siganle la corriente)."

Basically he has recommended platitudes, indulgence, Benadryl, and time. Thanks Doc... Next!

Liz, sporting a fresh black eye, has made her way to Natasha's place and fills her in on the afternoon encounter with Elsa and Maricruz,

"She made me furious as she she threw me out of the house. I had to go home and change clothes, because that imbecile tossed me in  puddle of water."

Natasha smothers a giggle at this...

"Don't laugh... she even dared to smack me in the face."

She vows to reveal to Elsa her true origins... that'll show 'em.

With her newly discovered maturity and serenity, Natasha counsels restraint. Liz is having none of that, she wants to destroy them both.

"Have You Ever Considered Becoming A Nun?"

Well, whatever... Tasha has more important things to do like deposit that big check for her prize-winning baptism painting and get busy helping the padre with his poor folks.

Maricruz waits on the porch for Alvaro to return. His car pulls up and she announces that she has terrible news...

"Liz came and told Elsa the truth."

Many here have accused Octavio of being a dim bulb with one brain cell, but somehow he has managed to figure out that Maricruz,

"...must be with that engineer, that Alvaro Cifuentes. Maricruz went with him and he is helping her. Where could he live?"

Well done lad... well done.

His phone rings and he hopefully answers it expecting that someone must be calling him with Alvaro's address. Nopis. It's Doris,

"Hola my love, it's me."

She announces cheerily.

"Do You Have Prince Albert In A Can?"

He just not in the mood for Doris at this moment,

"What do you want, Doris?"

Back at Alvaro's place, Maricruz is filling Alvaro in on the details of  Liz's revelation to Elsa that Alfonso is dead... murdered... and that Maricruz spent some time in jail for that. She also tells him about how she ran Liz off. Sorry. Don't be sorry, he approves,

"You did good."

Before she can tell him the rest, he hurries off to check on Elsa.

Octavio is on the phone with Doris. She is informed that he still loves Maricruz and that she too loves him still. Doris tells that's not what Maricruz told her the last time they talked. Oops. He wants to know when she last talked to Maricruz and she has to admit that she visited her in jail. Mainly she wanted to console her,

"...I promised her that as soon as we are together, I would treat her daughter as our very own child. Ay, sweetheart, I wanted to cheer her up a bit."

Doris continues as a sick look develops on Octavio's face. As Doris continues her incessant yammering about Maricruz's many faults, he quietly hangs up the phone.

Doris suddenly realizes,

"He hung up!"

Alvaro is having a futile conversation with Elsa in her room. She reasserts her facts (and she has the proof in print) and accusations. How could he even consider this murderous skank as stepmother material? He denies and even pleads for reason. (Ha! Good luck with that. She's a teenaged girl.)

Maricruz seems to have realized that this latest employment has pretty much wound down as she dejectedly descends the stairs with her hand bag,

"Liz poisoned Elsa against me and now she hates me."

She thinks that it may be time to go.

("If I Can Just Make It Through One Last Episode.")

More father daughter angst. He loses patience (he's lasted longer than I have) shouts at her and she invites him to go ahead and hit her.( It's time for somebody to have another dose of Benadryl.) Elsa hops up and runs outside so that Maricruz can hear the rest of this family discussion.

"We're Sorry About Alfonso...Maybe We Can Get You A Gerbil."

As Maricruz listens out of sight, Elsa reiterates how much she despises her,

"Basically because of her I'm going to end up even crazier than you think I am."

She again invites Alvaro to hit her and he points out that he has never ever hit her.

"Well, it's the only thing you haven't done."

Alvaro is fed up. He's off to straighten LIz out as Elsa shouts demands that he get rid of Maricruz.

Time for some Benadryl anyone?

On his way to the car he runs into Maricruz lurking in the shadows as Magdalena escorts Elsa back inside. He asks her if she overheard all that and then adds (this cracked me up by the way),

"I think that it's best that you don't go up right now. Give Madalena a chance to calm her down."

Heh.

He's leaving for now but Maricruz insists on telling him of Liz's revelation to her of the terrible family secret that Elsa is adopted,

"She said that Elsa isn't your daughter, nor the daughter of your dead wife."

Woooo.

Octavio's efforts have paid off. He's on the phone with the lawyer and has learned that Maricruz is indeed with Alvaro and even has obtained the address.

Maricruz tells Alvaro of Liz's threat to real this truth to Elsa. He is livid. He hops in his car and drives away without even buckling his seat belt.

Maricruz clasps her head in frustration and despair.

Alvaro encounters Liz at Natasha's pad. They take a moment to glare. We'll get back to them.

Maricruz ponders her life. Too bad that she can't fall in love with Alvaro. Time to move on,

"Why can't I be happy?'

Octavio hails a cab. Surprise, surprise it's cab # B-07-439. An omen?

Alvaro and Liz chat about the days events and discuss their differences. He threatens to kill her if she reveals the terrible family secret. Have a nice day.

"Do You Have Any Idea Of How Many People I've Killed In Previous Novelas?"

Octavio reminds the cabby that he is in a hurry. He's only been chasing after Maricruz for what? about 4 years or so? Times-a-wastin'.

"Take Me To A Place That Has Good Mexican Food."

Alvero heads home.

Maricruz is waiting as Alvaro returns and walks in...

"We need to talk."

Carlos, thanks for the ever witty "penultimate" recap. My faves between the recap and the captions were: "at least it's not mud"; "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?"; and of course, "I'll get you my pretty and your little monkey, too."

I wonder if the monkey will be at the wedding. He could be a great ring bearer. Maybe a witness? A "best monkey" of sorts?? He could get Octavio to "monkey around" at the bachelor party; teach him to be a "swinger". Anyway, enough of monkey fantasies. . .

Now onto serious stuff, my beloved Chicago Bears are playing at the same time as the grand finale: which do I tape??? Probably CI. Anyway, thanks, for a novela full of very entertaining recaps, Carlos!

On to the wedding. I wonder what Maricruz's dress will look like and who will attend.

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa,

you managed to make me chuckle:

"A "best monkey" of sorts??

heh heh.

Wow, I'm afraid that I'd be inclined to go with Da Bears and catch CI online Monday.

Carlos

Thank you mil veces Carlos, you are not only witty but hilarious. Your screen caps alone have made this TN bearable. I hope you will be recapping another TN and very soon.

It seems like the entire episode was Elsa screaming. Even I have my limits. But my favorite part was when Tav hung up on Doris. Speaking of Doris, I think the "ShutUp" title should now go to Elsa. You know, it was pretty stupid that Al and Mag never told Elsa that that goon was dead. And I seem to remember, but I could be wrong, that when Al met MC, he talked as if he was only a humble engineer, and not the rico with the big house. Oh well,

Sunday should be interesting in any case!

Sometimes I'm a bit slow.... I just got the "Beanie" reference! Your are too funny Dr. Carlos!

Thank you Carlos and all the recappers. If only this novela was as thoughtfully written as the recaps. I would comment more often, but it is usually the weekend before I can catch up on the recaps and my comments would be days late and irrelevant. I do, however, really appreciate each of you taking one for the team each week. I also enjoyed La Paloma's statement yesterday, that she was clarifying so that we weren't to think the channel had changed because the story line was jumping around so much. I've felt for some time like I was watching this show with a person who had control of the remote and they kept changing the channel every five minutes so they could watch several programs at once. Very distracting!
I suspected that this was supposed to be a comedy that had gone terribly awry when they kept bringing La India Maria on, but I KNEW it was supposed to be a comedy when Doris gave One Cell a 2 day ultimatum on marrying her after he had told her for the umpteenth time that it wasn't going to happen.
I do believe this is the worst novela I've watched, (lacking and left wanting on so many levels), and I soldiered through Fuego en la Sangre, Corozon Salvaje, and that terrible one set in the avocado fields in California. I hate to miss the ending of a story, once I've begun. So again, I want to thank the recappers for sticking with it. What a fantastic novela you could all write together....it would be one that I would actually buy.
Merry Christmas to all!

5 CATS

Thank you Carlos. You are a strong, strong man. I wanted to beat the crap out of Elsa. I had to mute the TV. I couldn't take it.

I am still so very, very angry about what happened to this show. I think the recapper of the year award should go to each and every recapper on this team. Y'all were amazing.

Alvaro should ADOPT Maricruz. That way, they'll have the same last name, they'll live platonically and Elsa will get a big sister instead of a madrastra. Looking at all the screencaps (it wasn't so clear on tv) - Elsa looks like a younger version of MC.

Great job, Carlos, as always. I'm glad I found this site to enjoy the unenjoyable. lol

Naima

"She is suffering a teenaged crisis and the short termed prognosis is very bad... she will continue being a teen-aged girl for the foreseeable future."

Love it. And so impressed with all your extras, not just the screencaps and hilarious quotes, but the little heart, the "next'! with a cocktail. Dude, you are smokin'.

Favorite screencap quip, of course, was:

Maybe Emilia would send me one of those beanies

I'm going to have to write her and make sure she sees that one.

But I also loved "they canceled Duck Dynasty?" and

"If I can just make it through one last episode."

I imagine that's how you were feeling too, Carlos, but it didn't show. You were as witty and wise as ever. Thanks.

Great stuff, Carlos, and much better than the actual episode. Great captions on those photos.

My favorite lines:

She's clearly in the wrong telenovela. She needs to be over at Mentir Para Vivir where resurrection of the dead is a rather common occurrence.

She is suffering a teenaged crisis and the short termed prognosis is very bad... she will continue being a teen-aged girl for the foreseeable future.

I was ready to slap Elsa flat through the whole episode. I half expected her to throw herself into the pool, which would have put her out of our misery.

The whole ridicules about the stupid painting, the murder, the false confession, and all that was getting old enough to carbon-date.

Finally, so what if Elsa was adopted? Why is that such a big deal except for the timing of this revelation? The caption about "how many people I've killed in other novelas" was right on!

How stupid is Alvaro not to have told his daughter that she is adopted? She should've known years ago when she was young enough to fall for the "you're special because we CHOSE you" line (which is true in most cases) and he would have avoided a cynical teenage Mt. Vesuvius eruption when she finds out now.

I feel soooo guilty. I was the one, who recommended this show. It was sooo nice. Tamaulipas, salvajita, prencipe azul and so on. And now last episodes we dedicate to unimportant crazy girl. What a shame. And I realy want to ask WHY.
When we were watching this show with Mexico, actors and official facebook promised us "capitulos de infarto". I think it was one of the main reasons why I watched novela till the end. So now I really want to now" WHERE??? They cut that capitulos or que? I cant believe, that they could name this episodes that way.
Alegria

Thanks LoriLoo, Sara, 5 CATS, and Naima,

This was such a strange episode what with it being the next-to-last and all.

LoriLoo, as I mentioned, Elsa is very pretty and I suppose is very talented, but this is one time that pretty just wasn't enough. I was shouting...please make it stop! at the TV. Yikes!

Sara, knowing that it was my last episode of CI to recap helped a lot. So did a well-made martini thanks to the Lovely Linda. Well, it'll be over soon. I'm really looking forward to see what Vivi and CeCe do with the Gran Final.

5 CATS, how nifty that you have joined us here and are commenting. I have to admit that I really enjoyed El Talismán ( "that terrible one set in the avocado fields in California") as well as the others you named. Of course the Caray Caray recaps and comments helped a lot. This TN started off with incredible promise and now is wheezing its way to the end.

Naima, I'm also very thrilled that you've joined us here as well.

"Alvaro should ADOPT Maricruz...". That was exactly the thought I had when he first joined the show.

LoriLoo, you reminded me that some of my photo captions may be incomprehensible to some and once again I'm happy to offer an explanation of any that you guys find confusing. A few weeks ago I was surprised that no one was baffled by the Group W Bench that I had Maricruz sitting alone on.

Carlos

Carlos Muchas Gracias, and thank you to all you fabulous recappers for keeping this novella bearable. I hope to see many of you again when La Gata airs. I will be watching to get my Daniel Arenas fix.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

Carlos now that you mention it, what is the Group W Bench?

Thanks Judy, UA, Anon, and Alegria,

Judy, I'm always thrilled that after all these years that you still find me amusing. We've almost reached the point... well...

remember that joke where the inmates at a prison take turns telling jokes but over time the jokes have become so familiar that they've numbered them? A new guy shows up and listens in. One of the old inmates says..."#3". They all crack up. The new guy wants to give it a shot... "#7" he says drolly... but no one laughs. The old guy says, "Well some folks have the knack and others just don't."

I guess that you think that I have the knack.

UA, I'm glad that you found the recap and photo captions amusing. We live in totally different worlds and yet we enjoy each others company... neat.

Anon, I agree with you and UA, what is the big deal over being adopted and why hasn't she been told before now?

Alegria, no need for apologies. We had fun with this, and one of us... who hasn't joined the discussion yet... was enthralled. One question, I thought that Mark Tacher was going to be in this... what happened?

Carlos

Carlos, Tacher's fans posted this information in Wiki. He never planned to be here.

And it's sad for me, that it's my last comments. all actual Televisa novelas are not interest for me. It's so sad to live without caray-caray recaps.
Alegria

Thank you Carlos, your captions were hilarious yet again. My childish sense of humor loved the 'pull my finger' caption the most.

So just as I figured, MC will most likely all of a sudden decide she does want to be with Octavio and there won't be any great rekindle, but probably a long kiss. Yawn.

LoriLoo,

I'm so glad you asked. The Group W Bench was a part of a rather lengthy and very funny song written by Arlo Guthrie called Alice's Restaurant written in 1967 and it was very popular at the time, especially among college kids (I was in med school). It is a reference to the US military draft, hippies, and the anti-war movement at the time. It takes a while to listen to, but we thought it was hilarious. A mind-altering substance might enhance the enjoyment. I prefer Tequila, but other preferences may vary.

Carlos

Carlos, you are going out as I knew you would...with a bang. I loved all the photos and captions.

I surfed into this episode several times, but every time I did, there was Elsa ...ah....emoting. I guess when you are a novice actress you feel that the louder and more dramatic you are, the bigger impression you will make. Someone has to introduce this girl to the word..subtle. I taught in a senior high school for several years. I was exposed to more than enough teenage angst not to mention my own.Was the young actress hoping for a spinoff ? A each night I ask The Lord up above : Why must I be a teenager in love ?

Thanks cathyx and Susanlynn,

cathyx, I knew from your previous comments that we are on a similar wavelink. Now I'm really not understanding why you didn't enjoy Gancho. You would have certainly fit in well with our Gancho Group.

Susanlynn, Elsa?... boy does she ever make me appreciate Solita.

Carlos

Carlos, thank you for the explanation. I am very familiar with "Alice's Restaurant", although I was only 9 in 1967. Next time I hear it, I will listen for the Group W Bench reference.

I really loved it when MC threw Liz out of the house, dragging her by her ponytail. I agree with UA that your caption for Al and "how many people I've killed in other novelas" was priceless!

I am waiting for Gringo to chime in with his ebullient optimism...

Gancho was a masterpiece compared to this. If I weren't a recapper for this one, I would have abandoned it long ago. I can't abide wasting my time on bad programs because I'm busy, so my standards are high for what I will take time to watch.

What turned me off of Gancho: the constant and repetitive together not together, misinterpreting and misunderstanding situations and conversations because of bad timing coming in or overhearing a conversation late and misunderstanding it just like this one. Never clearing up misunderstandings and men and women who can't push another person away from them when they kiss them. And having that repeated umpteen times, just like this one. That completely irritates me and drives me crazy. Like I said, I would have left this mess long ago if I weren't a recapper. But fortunately there are only 2 hours left. Hallelujah!

cathyx,

"Never clearing up misunderstandings and men and women who can't push another person away from them when they kiss them."

Heck, I thought that was required.

Carlos

Carlos, I know you are watching Mentir Para Vivir, and I can't remember if you watched Amor Bravio, but both of those shows never did any of those things that I said I hated, so I know that it can be done. We need to demand better and then they will deliver better. Bad shows should have bad ratings and good shows should have good ratings. We need to come together on this and it will happen.

I totally agree with Sara C. "I think the recapper of the year award should go to each and every recapper on this team. Y'all were amazing."

Thanks so much Carlos! Loved your final set of screen shots and especially the captions. I'm glad you didn't have to battle the finale on your own after all.

So this was the penultimate? I guess they are saving all resolution for the finale - and throwing in some new plot developments too. And what happened to the India Maria adventure - that just disappeared? (Actually I suspect India Maria is waiting for MC in her former Mexico City house which never had the new owners take possession.)

Carlos, you are absolutely hilarious. I have abandoned this novela when it started getting silly. Every now and then I will read a recap to see what's going on. You and the rest of the recappers have done an excellent job. Thanks!

Thank you for one final, fabulous recap, Carlos. And of course your screencaps and captions were first-rate too.

Alegria, you're not alone. I hang my head in shame knowing I recommended it too. Oh well. Live and learn.

I jumped ship on this one some time ago.. But I see it is coming to an end. Does anyone know what is on the horizon? Is there a comedy in the works? For the next couple of weeks they seem to be doubling up on Lo que la vida me robo. What comes after? Does anyone know?

Güera

Thanks gloria, Audrey, and Latina,

Audrey, the way things have gone with this TN, I'm not sure that we'll ever hear from Elsa again. Maybe she'll be starring in her own TN, Elsa soon.

gloria, we did our best with what we had to work with. By the way, I really enjoy your recaps as you already know.

Latina, what fun it's been working on this with you. Looks like we've finally made it. No shame, I was told there would be a monkey and was something of a cheerleader as well.

Carlos

Güera, we've missed you. I've no idea what's next, but I'm planning to take a break from recapping after this.

Carlos

Güera: On Univision, Ch. 14 in the San Francisco bay area (PST):

Mentir para vivir at 7:00 pm
Siempre mi amor at 8:00 pm
Lo que la vida me robo at 9:00 & 10:00 pm.

Starting Jan. 6th: same as above but at 10:00 pm will be Que pobres tan ricos - comedy with Jaime Camil and Zuria... something... I'm not watching Mentir para vivir so I'm disappointed the new one will be on at 10:00 which happens to be my bedtime.

OK---gringo's time. A BIG thank you Carlos for a great last recap.
Even though you are glad that your part is over, you did a great job---well you always do. I have been honest in the past when I have said that your screen captions that everyone raves about
didn't always do it for me. Carlos
think about it, even Babe Ruth didn't hit a home run in every game. For me---many were GREAT but others, well not so much. Hey,
I'm being truthful, not soaking you with false %%6*@!!&. This time
however you not only hit a home run---you hit several of them. Great Job. OMG! How to pick the best??? It's very hard this time but I immediately started laughing
when I saw---They Cancelled Duck
Dynasty.---Have You Ever Considered Becoming A Nun? These are just two but to save space I must say that there were several other great ones.
Carlos---I laughed my head off when I read---As he drives home, instead of texting or chatting on his cell phone like any normal person, Alvaro thinks and pouts.

Carlos---I am surprised that you admitted to actually liking El Talisman when almost everyone else
trashed it. I enjoyed it but I didn't know about the Caray blog at the time so I didn't get to read all of the trash the show comments on a daily basis like I had to endure with this one.

One last thing Carlos, I wrote you a note yesterday about the Wolf Chili. I don't know if you saw it. Remember I'm behind you guys out here on Pacific Coast time, so the post was late.
the gringo

Hi Gringo!! So you are also on the west coast. We may be the only two up this late.... hahaha

I really liked this TN in the beginning and maybe throughout the Casino time, but then it started to wear me down. I stuck it out because I loved the actors particularly Ana Brenda. And I've seen a few worse TN's..... well one. But after religiously watching TNs for more than 10 years now I must say that the really good ones (Amor Bravio, La Que no Podria Amar, Sabor a Ti) put this to shame. Still, I always liked your fresh view and very positive opinions.

Cheers! or mejor dicho, Salud!

Here's another positive about this show: It made El Tal look good! Pedro is a total catch compared to all the men here.

Kelly

ps. Is anyone else having problems with watching videos on the Uni site (for Mentir)? It used to work but lately refuses to play.

Kelly: if you mean "Uvideos" then yes, it won't play for me either anymore. It must be a site that you have to subscribe to or something...

Thanks gringo,

I was about to hit the hay when I checked this one last time and saw your post. I'm glad that you enjoyed some of today's captions. Maybe my Texas humor is starting to grow on you.

I knew that you'd enjoy the Wolf Brand Chili. It is truly a quality product which we've enjoyed here since I was a child.

A favorite here is Frito Pie made by ripping open a small bag of Fritos, pouring in a glob of Wolf Brand Chili, topping with grated cheese and chopped white onion. Yum. My memories of that date back to my Little League ball days. After the game a hearty meal of Frito Pie from the concession stand washed down with a Coke or Dr. Pepper...healthy and nutritious.

I hope that you enjoy tomorrow's Gran Final.

Carlos

Carlos, I am going to miss your recaps. I love your sly sense of humor, and I appreciate the laughs your retelling so always gave me. You don't know how much I looked forward to your recap every week. I especially loved the captioned photos.

I think my favorite caption this time is the very last one..."Take me to a place that has good Mexican food. " You are a treasure, Carlos, and i thank you so much for all the time and effort you devoted to writing these funny, fabulous recaps.

P.S. I"m making baked corn pudding for Christmas dinner. !!

I just made a big pot of chili for over the holidays, but I am sure that it is much too mild for Carlos and gringo.

On with the show---Wow!!! That was
really a teenager out of control last night or should we just say ShutUpElsa? Whether you liked all that screaming or not, the young actress really did give it her all.
I have to ask, who can put on the best scream fest raging performance, Doris or Elsa? Anyone care to comment. Some have said that they turned Elsa off last night but Doris was turned off a few times also. Is it a tie?

Wow! Liz thought she was tough, that was until she tangled with La
Savage. LOL I know that violence
isn't funny but I was almost yelling for Maricruz to slug her again. Well ok, she got thrown down onto the very wet grass. I bet that Liz will think twice when
she wants to go another round with Maricruz. I'm laughing, I know I'm bad for loving the violence but I can't help it. You
rock Maricruz!!!

Liz should consider becoming a nun
Why would she want to hurt Elsa by revealing the past? Mean, just mean. Whop her again Maricruz.

Liz had a bruise from Mari's punch
but Doris had no bruise or even a red cheek bone after her father slugged her. QUE???

Alegria y Latina---You feel sooooo
guilty. You guys don't have to feel that way for me, I LOVED IT.
I DON'T CARE, I DON'T CARE, I DON'T CARE how many people trash it, CI will ALWAYS have a WARM place in my heart. Latina you have expressed where they lost you, I understand and I too wish that Maricruz would have stayed a strong and intelligent, self assured women. It didn't turn out that way but I still liked the basic premise of the story. Of course there are things that I didn't like or would have done differently but----Well, I just hope that both Maricruz and Octavio get their brain cells functioning in the short time that we have left and that it will be beautiful when they ride off into the sunset.
the gringo

Carlos---Frito Pie sounds like a real winner.

LoriLoo---I think that there a couple more of us out here but yes, we are in the minority.

Will read more or the new recaps tomorrow.
the gringo

Thanks for the nod, Carlos. Judy B wrote me that you had mentioned beanies, (and me)
Mike and I didn't watch this one. Maybe we should have just for the recaps and comments.
Merry Christmas y'all...

You never disappoint Carlos, muchas gracias for all the laughs! Thanks to all the recappers who endured this TN...each writing style provides snark and laughter each day. I aspire to gain the skill you all have :)

My favorite captions were "If I Can Just Make It Through One Last Episode." and the beanie comment.

I just finished Friday's episode. All these new characters and plot lines...If I did not know any better I would not think we are heading towards the Gran Finale tomorrow.

Hasta pronto!

Carlos, your recaps have been a major highlight of this long train ride that turned into a train derailment--it just spilled off the track.

However, your photos and captions always make me laugh and I love your compact style that's loaded with little ambushes of deadly humor. I can say to you and our recapping team as Jim Lovell said in Apollo 13: "Gentlemen [and ladies], it`s been a privilege flying with you."

Elsa must be the new-flavor-of-the-month ingenue. Arrgh! I wouldn't have given her Benedryl, I would have hit her over the head with the bottle. ShutUpElsa 4 sure!

Loved, loved Tav hanging up on Doris. Finally!! And loved seeing the savage come to the fore as MC dragged Liz out of the house and into the sloppy wet puddle.

Alvaro also reverted to type when he was chewing out Liz. "Do you have any idea . . .?" was a great caption and he looked scary.

I can't see any villains to vanquish--they're all taken care of. With Tav and MC as their own worst enemies, I guess we have to whip them into shape and into a reconciliation. Then the boda and we're done!! I think I'll let my tiny sock monkey watch the final with me.

Perfect description, la Paloma!....

"little ambushes of deadly humor"

That is the best accounting of the Carlos' style and why it's so delightful.

New to TN's, I got sucked into the storyline early and was ok with ignoring inconsistencies or making leaps of faith and always had MC to fall back on. (think it more AB's beauty and the chemistry with Daniel) However, after MC was so easily picked up in the park by Alfonso, they lost me but you guys here helped. (gringo thanks for referring me to Por siempre mi amor what a huge difference in the story, cast and overall production makes CI remind me of a junior high play)

I give Elsa a pass on her rant because all the adults except Liz (though her motives less that honorable) participated in the deception. Especially the patronizing duo of her father and his intended paramour MC?

Alvaro, (shave your neck and what a turn off all those gray hairs betray your dye job)the gall to blame all this on the messenger with a threat to boot,
MC, how in the world do you tell a teen girl you will help her find her crush when you were his willing muse and confessed to his murder and then on your high horse during a beat down of Liz and then tattle tale to Alvaro?

Highlight. Octavio hanging up on Doris. Please Octavio take some time for yourself and find a woman to be a partner with (not a kept man) and not a crazy with daddy issues.

Watching the three of them in the room Liz, Elsa and MC both Liz and Elsa are much prettier women to me. Especially Paola María Torres Cohén the woman that plays Elsa. She is 28 years old

Carlos- I admit that although I feel a bit guilty about bringing you into this mess, that guilt is counteracted by the great enjoyment I got from your recaps. How could there have been a CI recapping team, without Carlos contributing his sharp and witty recaps? Your recaps are always a treat, and your sense of humor was perfect for the train wreck that this tn became. You never failed to make me laugh. I salute you, amigo.

As for the episode, I could not muster up one bit of emotion about Elsa, her plight, and the “shocking” revelation that she’s adopted (rolling my eyes). I did perk up a bit to see some of MC’s old fire back, as she dragged Liz out by her stupid side ponytail. But my favorite part of the episode was Tav quietly hanging up on Doris. Ha!

Did you notice that in the time it took Alvaro to leave his house, go to Liz’s place to find out she was at Natahsa’s place, go to Natasha’s place, threaten Liz (that’s the Sergio Goyri I know!), and return home, Tav was STILL in a taxi making his was to Alvaro’s house?! Just where was he coming from, anyway? Timbuktu?

Carlos, I haven't watched this at all so can't comment on the story.

But, your screen shots and captions had me laughing out loud and smiling away in great appreciation.

"Elsa accuses. Maricruz denies. Liz gloats. Magdadela dithers", "THEY CANCELED DUCK DYNASTY?" and "Do You Have Prince Albert In A Can?" were especially priceless.

Amigo, you are such a gifted and talented recapper - thank you for already brightening this dreary, rainy Sunday.

Diana

Carlos, man, you are crazy! I love it! "Because Maricruz is a practicing idiot. . ." Every caption is a gasket-buster, how do you come up with these? I'm a late comer to the show but when I need a laugh (and get some time), I'm going to go back and read your recaps!

Thank you so much for this, I frankly could not watch, or rather listen: I had the tv on mute during 98% of the episode.

Have a great weekend and holiday, Sir, I'm off now to read the comments and I know you have inspired some gems!

Lila

Thank you Carlos for another great recap and for all of your hardwork! But I don't understand how I missed this episode. I Dvr'd Friday's episode and this wasn't it. It was obviously the epi right before this one. Well I'll be watching the 2 hr finale tonite and really hope it gives good closure.

It really was lovely to have Carlos recapping again. He was a recapper for Llena de Amor which was my first recapping stint as a substitute recapper.

Ah, well, until next time........

Hmmm - there is a lot in the episode I'd just as soon skip. But I might have to watch it just to see Tav hang up on Doris.

[We're traveling as usual over the holidays and now well out of Looneyvision range. But we have access to shows the next day via Hulu+. Still - there is so much to catch up on and so many better shows playing now.......]

Well hi, Emelia. Your beanies would have been useful for all the characters in this TN. I had been hoping that you and Mike might have joined us for this, especially since it's the early show. I'm doubtful that you guys would have enjoyed the show itself but the two of you would have fit right in to the group here that is watching, commenting, and recapping. By the way, your little grand-daughter is precious.

Hi Kelly, you're right, El Talismán does look good next to this. I always felt that those who presented us with ET knew full well what they were doing and accomplished what they set out to do.

Thanks emeraldrose, I almost overlooked your comment. I was happy to see Octavio taking some very positive steps last night. That phone conversation was the high point of the episode for me. Both actors were great in those scenes.

Carlos

Thanks CeCe, Paloma, and Vivi,

What a treat it's been to share recapping duties with you guys. I admire your writing styles and feel honored to work with you.

CeCe, thanks for volunteering to pitch in with Vivi for tonight's final recap. I almost felt guilty that it was pushed forward... almost. As it was, for this episode I felt like I had wandered into a whole new TN with Elsa'a crisis.

Paloma, you have really made me blush with your wonderful compliment that Judy referred to. Wow! Octavio's phone conversation with Doris really defied description. The quiet way that he hung up the phone spoke volumes and I think set the stage for the final reunion.

Vivi, I've been anxious to see if you enjoyed my last recap. You are so much fun to work with that even if there were no monkey I'd have leaped at the opportunity to be on another recapping team with you. Thanks for graciously stepping up to polish this thing off tonight. That it'll all be over is a little sad...but in a good way.

Carlos

Thanks tofie, Lila, and Carvivlie,

tofie, I'm so glad that you joined us here to celebrate and discuss this very unique TN. I'll join you in giving Elsa a pass. She certainly took a rather thankless and, as far as I can see, insignificant part and gave it her all. She is very beautiful and I'm sure I've seen her before in another TN (Vivi, do you recognize her?) and hope to see her again... maybe just not in a reprise of Elsa.

Carvivlie, I've also really enjoyed having you here during this TN. I always look forward to your comments.

Carlos

Lila,

""Because Maricruz is a practicing idiot. . ."

gringo didn't even blink over that. No telling how he would have responded to that just a few weeks ago. Of course it was meant in the most complimentary way and all in good fun.

I may have been reading too much into it, but I thought that we got to see a good deal of personal growth and awakening awareness on the part of both Maricruz and Octavio which of course will lead us into an extravagant and glorious wedding tonight.

Carlos

Diana, what a pleasant surprise. How much fun would it have been if you had been with us for this sharing your wisdom? I'm glad I helped to brighten a dreary day. Thanks for dropping by.

Carlos

awakening by both yes. Octavio knows the other women will never be a valid replacement and he wants her, while MC's options continue to evaporate driving her to her plan B until she dust herself off and runs to some other guy again and again and again. Her preference is someone (anyone) else but Octavio and she is however her mothers daughter. Poor Lupita will suffer as MC has a revolving door of old daddy types and playboys until her beauty fades.

Uni decided to make few special programmes today. It can me more interesting then final

Carlos---Maricruz is a practicing idiot. I didn't mention it because I was holding back my anger--I hated that comment but did not want to make enemies by saying something that I may have regretted. LatinainMD has stated a couple of times that the writers changed Mari's character.
I agree with Latina in that I wish that they would have left Mari courageous, smart and strong.
They didn't but I still love her.
Some may call her a practicing idiot but they can't take away her good heart and her compassion for the poor. That better than I can say for many.

La Paloma---I did like your There are no more villains to vanquish.
Maricruz & Tav are their own worst enemies. It kinda seems that way doesn't it?

Tofie---I liked your--I gave Elsa a pass on her rant because comment
but I still ask, who can throw the best rant Doris or Elsa? I'd have to say that the ShutUp title
works well for both of them---or as some have said, the mute button.

I can't wait to see the beautiful love in bloom tonight. Brain cells
will be functioning in full I predict. GO MARI y TAV!!!
the gringo

Carlos, Carlos, what can I say....I'm another one who bailed when the monkey disappeared. You were tenacious, hoping, I'm sure, the little thing would come back.

The penultimate recap and ultima for you (NEXT) was hilarious, but the screen captions had me peeing in my pants and am not ashamed. My favorite was "Excuse Me, There Was A Mosquito On Your Cheek," followed closely by the Emilia beanie plea and how many people have I killed. Shoot I liked the one about the Alfonso replacement by a gerbil, too. Heck, they were all great.

I think I'll watch the finale tonight, but first comes the Ravens-Patriots game. My DIL will be rooting for the guys in buckskin hiding behind the trees and taking pot shots at the Redcoats and I'll be rooting for those handsome black birds.

El Tal--what can I say. It was a pleasure watching that disaster go down the tubes in such august company (and I cut my teeth recapping--but will never reach your lofty heights). I still say Antonio's death spiral was the best I've death I've ever seen, on this side of the Wild West of yore.

Carlos, even if you aren't going to recap for awhile, do make an announcement as to what you are going to watch next--just so we can get a taste of your wit and wisdom in the comment section.

Hasta la vista, doctorcito. (And I'll have to try your Frito Pie soon. I must admit to making Lovely Linda's Corn Relish occasionally.)
Anita

Tofie---I don't buy your revolving
door comment. It's for real esta noche.
the gringo

gringo, I'm just mad. I fluctuate between wanting them together for ever (the real reason I keep watching religiously) to royally pissed and express it. I does bother me because Octavio is there already and it seems Octavio is MC's last choice after she tries to go it alone and it fails. Agree I want them to get their but they are coming at it from opposite directions.

Someone mentioned that Paola Torres (Elsa) is 28. She is not. That's a Domincan beauty queen by the same name. This actress is Mexican and she's just 18.

Carlos- I hadn't seen this actress before, but I do think she looks a bit like Renata Notni (Gancho, LFDD, Que Bonito Amor, Amorcito Crazon). It's the eyes, and they are the same age. Her resume includes: La Rosa de Guadalupe, Como dice el dicho, Miss XV, and Cachito de cielo. Pretty girl. I hope she continues to take acting lessons, or gets better parts.

Maricruz putting Liz in her place was excellent. Who made Liz the boss? Smh

Carlos, Thank you for sharing your deliciously wicked (or wickedly delicious) sense of humor with us one last time. In the photo for the caption "If I Can Just Make It Through One Last Episode," Maricruz looked like she was underwater and trying to reach the surface, or perhaps trying to cross over to the other side through the tunnel of light.

I remember reading the recommendations about this telenovela, but I don't regret watching for several reasons: My Spanish is improving. One of the students in my ESL class has also been watching, which has given us something in common to talk about. And I thought that Ana Brenda Contreras and Daniel Arenas made a fine on-screen couple.

It seems like most telenovelas have older couples or May-December couples. So I think CI is refreshing in this respect, which might explain its popularity.

Gringo, I see that you are already making an appearance over on Por Siempre Mi Amor, and I look forward to seeing more of your unbridled optimism.

And to all the recappers and commenters: Thank you so much!

Well hello, Anita. What nice things you had to say. I especially enjoy you as well and always admire the very clever things you present us with. Too bad that we can't have a CI Post Mortem like you presented us with when ET concluded. Whenever you participate in a TN it is always a treat and an adventure.

Currently I'm watching and enjoying LQLVMR and MPV and will probably participate more actively commenting on those TNs now that CI will be over. I probably would not have begun LQLVMR were it not for Verónica Jaspeado playing one of the characters. I adored her as Ximena in Gancho.

Vivi, thanks. I think that it must be Renata Notni that she reminds me of. Did you also notice that Octavio took the very same taxi? I'd bet if we'd look back at previous episodes we'd see that same taxi over and over and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see that same taxi back on Isla Dorada.

Carlos

Carlos thanks so much for soldiering on with this tn and this treat of your last recap. I also enjoyed your reference to MPV's "resurrections." And yes, I believe those of us who stayed with El Tal, particularly after it was banished to the afternoon, knew what we were in for and had a blast.

Cathyx - ITA w/you about rewarding good shows. Unfortunately, once producers realize people will accept the lowest common denominator and crappy programs, they usually stay on that path.

Maybe it was the same taxi that delivered Lucia's anvil.

I've fallen behind and I can't catch up! I'm pretty obsessive and hate reading ahead of watching, but I did it today so I can watch the finale with the rest of y'all. Thanks to all our recappers for making this option possible!

Carlos, thanks so much for this recap. ITA with JudyB that La Paloma's "little ambushes of deadly humor", is a phrase that fits your writing style completely!

Thank goodness for your screenshots! At least I'll know what Elsa and Liz look like when I watch tonight.

I just have to mention, though I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the Guv slug his daughter yet, I do remember him slapping her across the face with some force awhile back. I'm not convinced he's really the LuvGuv….tho SUD could test the patience of a saint.

Well, Carlos was promised a monkey but Luciafer promised us dogs as well. And we saw a lot more monkey than dogs (though not enough of either).

Barbara

Thanks JoseAngel, Aleta, Karen, and Barbara,

JoseAngel, I thought it was great to see a flash of the old Maricruz we fell in love with back so long ago. She may be civilized but can still revert back to those feral instincts.

Aleta, it has been great having you along with us for this ride. I agree that Octavio and Maricruz look great together as an appealing age-appropriate couple. I suspect that we'll finally be reminded of that again in tonight's episode.

Karen, yes, I still think that El Talismán was something of a TN masterpiece that went under-appreciated.

Barbara, I kept waiting for and imagining Lucia's dogs that she kept bringing up. I'm sure that dogs were originally planned but the monkey may have objected and ultimately vetoed that plan. I can imagine Lucía strolling the grounds dressed as she always did with a couple of Dobermans proceeding her on leashes. She would have really looked great with a pair of Salukis and I imagine the Emir Karim would have approved.

Carlos

Carlos:

You rock! Loved all the screencaps and the very funny captions you always put on them. I have enjoyed all your recaps for this TN, and I hope in future you recap again! You are one talented writer and screencapper.

Liked your title, but the best scene for me was when MC dragged Liz through that puddle! Too funny and just what Liz deserved!

Thanks again for all your recaps for this TN!
