Lo Que La Vida Me Robo #24 & 25, 12/23/2013

Capitulo 24 (by Gloria)

Loreto tells Pervie Juvie that Pedro wants Ale dead. In exchange he can keep the hacienda. Pervie Juvie likes the idea and decides to keep Montse too.

Rosario comes to pay a visit to Padre A. She apologizes for the late visit but needs to talk to him. Montse sent her with a letter to give the new capataz and insisted that Ale not find out. After the capataz read the letter he became nervous and insisted that she inform Montse he had to see her. He didn't even say “Senora” or “La Patrona” but called her by her name instead. Does that mean that there is something between them? What is going on? Nothing is insists the Padre. If she tells me to do something, I must obey. Yet I know I am going against my own son. The Padre again insists there is nothing going on, but Rosario keeps insisting. I can't, it was told to me in confession.

Josefina is looking at her wedding dress and can't believe that she will be getting married tomorrow.

At the strip club, Adolfo is giving Dim a bachelor’s party paid for I’m sure from Josefina's purse. He tells the men with them to make sure they dress real nice for the part tomorrow. Where's my money asks one of the men. Adolfo says they'll get it when the job is done. Dim wants to know where the more experienced girls are? Adolfo complains to management that they are not getting the VIP treatment. The current girls are just not bringing it. Where are the more experienced ones? Management says they are currently busy and tries to walk away. Adolfo offers money, but management says that another more important client has the more experienced girls. We see the good girls dancing for drooling Pervie Juvie and Pedro. Pervie can't believe that when Loreto suggested meeting the police captain, it would be at a place like this. Loreto says this is how the captain treats his loyal employees. And you are starting to be one of them. That is of course if you do the job that Loreto brought you in for replies Pedro. Consider it done replies Pervie Juvie. Loreto tells Pervie Juvie to pick a girl. He points to Esme. Loreto says she belongs only to the captain and gets him another one. Esme is sitting on Pedro's lap drinking it up as Adolfo spies into the private room.

Nadia is looking through Pedro's clothes and finds a matchbox when she gets a phone call from Adolfo. He asks where her husband is? At the “Escondida” replies Nadia. How do you know about this place asks Adolfo. I just found matchbox in one of his pants replies Nadia. Adolfo spills the frioles and tells her that her hubby is kicking it with Esme at the club.

Rosario is cleaning house when Ale comes in. Where were you last night questions Ale. My wife was looking for you. Rosario says she was visiting with the Padre. You walked to his house last night asks Ale. He says he prefers that she doesn't do that since there are bandits loose in the area. She thanks him for worrying about her. Ale walks out and JL walks in. He inquires about Montse's whereabouts. Rosario corrects him and says “La Patrona”. Montse walks in and JL approaches her asking a moment of her time. Her husband just left and he has some questions he needs to ask. Montse says she can't help him, but JL insists. She finally agrees and tells Rosario to let her know if anyone comes by.

Graceless goes to church for confession. As she tells the priest that she has committed a sin, he replies that he knows she is a sinner. He lists all her sins. It turns out it's Pervie Juvie. Graceless tries to get up, but Pervie Juvie detains her. He wants to offer her an opportunity . I'm not interested replies Graceless. I know that you are enjoying Ale's money ever since you sold your daughter. But what would happen if she became a widow? When he dies, we will be seeing each other again. She tells him he needs God as she looks like she is being turned on my Pervie's caresses. I am on the other hand trying to keep my dinner down.

Montse asks if he is crazy? How do you dare enter the house like this? JL asks how dare she send him such a letter? I gave you my answer in that letter replies Montse. JL reminds her that he came for her. You came here with pure lies replies Montse. JL reminds her that he did it to be with her. If that were true replies Montse then you would do it like a man and not hide behind a false name. And it hurts me to the core to say this, but you are being a coward. Just like you didn't have the balls to confront my father and now Ale. Your words hurt me replies JL. When your husband finds out who I really am, then you will know death. Because one of us will end up dead.

Ale comes in and Rosario starts getting nervous. I thought you were gone until later in the day says Rosario. I was replies Ale. I just forgot something in the study and leaves to go get it. Rosario starts freaking out and Maria sees all.

JL asks Montse if that is what she wants. That Ale and I kill each other because of you? No replies Montse as Ale walks into the study stunned to see both JL aka Antonio and Montse behind closed doors. Montse quickly wipes her tears from her face. Ale asks them what they are doing here? Montse quickly says that his capataz wanted to tell him something important. She was attending him and decides to leave them both alone to talk. She leaves and Maria la metiche comes in wanting to know if Ale needed anything. Ale asks JL what he wants.

Rosario pleads with Montse to forgive her. I couldn't do anything to detain him. Montse asks Rosario to come with her quickly and runs off. Maria la metiche comes in asking Rosario what Montse was doing in the study with JL. Rosario says how would she know and runs after Montse.

In Montse's room, she asks Rosario to help her pack. She's sure that as soon as Ale leaves the study, he will come to look for her and throw her out. Rosario wonders if she will be leaving with JL. No shouts Montse. If I leave here, it will be alone. Quickly pack my things so that I can go downstairs and see what is going on. She hurries out of the room. Rosario says Montse will not abandon her son and puts the clothes back in the closet. My son will not throw you out.

Montse comes back and asks Maria if Ale is still in the study. Maria confirms that he is still talking to the capataz and wonders what is going on. Montse tells her it's none of her business and orders her back to the kitchen.

Back at Aguazul, it's the wedding of the year! Dim and Josefina (in an unbecoming wedding dress) get married. They toast and take pictures with Adolfo as the only witness.

A knock on Esme's door and it's Refugio. He kisses her passionately. What are you doing here she asks. Don't you know that you can be recognized? Refugio says he was careful. JL asked him to come and buy some things for them. I wanted to see you. I miss you so much. They keep kissing and there's another knock on the door. This time it's Nadia. She wants to talk to Esme about her husband Pedro. I know you were with him last night. Refugio comes out of his hiding place and ask if it's true. Esme tries to answer, but Nadia tells her not to deny it. Her brother saw the whole thing last night. Refugio says it was a mistake to come and leaves as Esme tries to stop him.

Montse is pacing the hallway outside of the study. The boys come out all civilized. Montse questions Ale about their talk. We were discussing the salary of the peones. Did he not talk about anything else? No answers Ale. Is there something going on that I need to know about? No just asking replies Montse. She changes the subject and asks if he has eaten breakfast yet. Not yet answers Ale. Why don't we eat together? Montse agrees and sends him along and she will follow in a minute. Rosario comes in and Montse begs her to put away all her things and not tell anyone.

Esme wants to know who told Nadia where she lived. I asked at your job replies Nadia. And with just a little money I was given all I needed to know. What do you want? What do you need to talk to me about asks Esme. First, I was curious to know who you were replies Nadia. And secondly, I have a lot of questions that I want you to answer. Fine replies Esme. Ask away and then leave my house. How long have you been kicking it with my husband asks Nadia. I am not kicking it with your husband replies Esme. Then what would you call what my brother saw last night asks Nadia. I don't know what your brother told you replies Esme, but your husband is just another client at the club. He is not my lover nor am I kicking it with him. Why should I believe you asks Nadia. I don't care what you believe says Esme. She takes pity on Nadia and says that her husband doesn't frequent the club very often and when he does, he comes through the back door. I imagine that's true replies Nadia. Visiting your club would do nothing for his political career. Esme tells Nadia that there have never been anything between her husband and herself. He pays me good to pretend that something is going on between us in front of his friends. I don't understand why Pedro would do that replies Nadia. Perhaps to look good in front of his friends while still being faithful to his wife suggests Esme. No, that can't be it replies Nadia. Things would be more clear if it was another women. Nadia asks her not to tell her husband that she was there. Esme asks for the same thing. Please don't bring me problems. Nadia leaves and Esme feels sorry for her. She has no idea about her husband.

Ale and Montse are in the dining room. He tells her to treat Maria not like a member of the staff but like family. They have known each other since childhood and he cares for her. Remember, she is going through a lot right now, but I assure you she is good and noble. (Really? Was she good and noble when she borrowed your wife's undies and came onto you?) Montse doesn't agree. Why do you force me to live with someone that I don't like and who hates me? I'm told you she tried to help me escape and she treats everyone especially Rosario badly. It goes in one ear and out the other. Ale asks her to do as he asks.

Back at Josefina's crib, Adolfo gives the happy couple a toast. Josefina wished that Dim's family could have been at the wedding. Dim reminds her that she wanted it this way. Josefina offers the Fake Padre some wine, but Adolfo reminds her that he doesn't drink. The Padre wants to talk Adolfo privately and when alone with him asks Adolfo to pay him his money. Adolfo says he will when they return to town, but Fake Padre wants it now! Their conversation is interrupted by Josefina who is playing the gracious hostess and offers the Fake Padre a bite to eat. Fake priest takes an appetizer and shoves it into his mouth, throws the toothpick back on the platter and decides he wants a drink after all. Instead of the wine, he goes for the hard stuff and drinks it in one gulp. Josefina looks on in disbelief. The Fake Padre serves himself another while Dim and Adolfo look on worriedly. (Note to self: when hiring a fake priest, make sure he is not an idiot).

Ale and Montse convene to the living room discussing Rosario. Ale thinks she is a little weird. It seems like she is scared or hiding something. Montse disagrees. She thinks Rosario is a good person who always takes good care of her. Ale changes the subject and tells her that the owners of a nearby hacienda will be coming for a visit soon. Would you like to know them better? If that's what you want replies Montse. Ale asks if she would like to organize a party? Not really answers Montse. I am not one for parties. Didn't you go to parties back home questions Ale. Yes, but I only did it to make my mother happy replies Montse. You really don't know much about me. Only what you wanted me to know answers Ale. Remember you barely talked to me when we were novio. You're right replies Montse. Pervie Juvie interrupts. You wanted to speak with me? Ale says he wants Juvie to accompany him to the meadows? to help pick animals that he wants to sell. Juvie says he can't because he is still finishing up his job at the hillside? I don't understand. He was mumbling. Anyway, Ale decides to do it himself.

Montse goes into her room and thanks Rosario for everything she has done for her. Rosario says she can always count on her discretion, but doesn't like to lie to the Patron. He has been very good to me. I know this is not my place, but I am scared for you and Don Ale. Montse promises this will never happen again. Rosario reminds her that she is playing with fire. There are people here who will run to Ale with anything that is inappropriate. You are talking of Maria asks Montse. Rosario nods her response. Montse understands and agrees. She hugs Rosario.

Maria is eating in the kitchen when Juvie comes in. He taunts her with her presence in the kitchen table and not in the dining room. Maria informs him that she is pretending to be hurt so that Ale will ask her to eat at the dining room table again. Juvie wonders if Ale would do it? Of course Maria confidently replies. Juvie asks Maria not to go with Ale if asks her to accompany him today. Maria wonders why. I will tell you later replies Juvie. Maria la chismosa tells Juvie that something strange is going on between “la senora” and the new capataz. She gets really nervous when he shows up. Juvie tells her to quit thinking up crazy stuff to pin on “la senora”. He asks for a kiss and leaves. (I would wash my lips with Dawn soap. It takes away the grease).

Rosario pays a visit to JL to remind him that the padre wants to see him. It is really important that you go today.

Juvie informs his goons on where they need to hide and where the Patron will be riding from.

JL pays a visit to the padre. Padre asks if JL is Catholic. Yes, but I haven't practiced in awhile replies JL. Why? I want to think that you are a good man, conscientiousness and responsible replies Padre A. And because of that and in the name of God, I ask that you leave here! You being here is compromising someone and she wants you to leave! JL the dumba$$ says he doesn't know what the padre is talking about (I want to badly punch him in the face or at least slap the stupid look off his face, ugh!). Padre plays hardball and tells JL not to play with him. I know everything about you and the reason you came to this place is not good. Don't you know you can cause problems? JL tells Padre A that he doesn't know him and there's no use talking about this and tries to leave. Padre follows and says it's not true. Just because I am a priest doesn't mean that I don't understand the passions of men. But what you want is impossible. JL asks if Montse wanted the padre to speak to him on her behalf. Padre tells JL not to mention her name. She didn't ask me anything. I am in charge of watching over the souls that God has given me and that is why I am asking you to leave! JL says he sees that the Padre cares only of certain “souls” then his. Padre denies it. You are trying to ruin a union between a man and woman that was joined before God in holy matrimony. JL again asks the padre if he knows all the lies that were told to make that marriage happen? Yes, shouts padre. But now it's too late to do anything. Try to understand. They vowed to be together until death. JL again says he doesn't plan on giving up on the love that was stolen from him. If death is the only way for them to separate then let it be done.

Montse is trying to walk down the steps in her ridiculous high heels and sees Maria. She tells Maria that if she wants to continue to eat in the dining room with them she can. Maria smugly asks if Ale ordered her to do it. Montse reminds Maria that her husband doesn't order her to do anything. He asks. (Maria is too dumb to realize that she just got put in her place. I'm the wife and you are the maid is what Montse was saying. Ha!)

Lauro is reading the paper when Graceless walks in. (This is a beautiful woman. Why do they put her in ugly shoes?) He asks her about her day so far. She happy that there are lots of donations at the church, but complains everyone was asking for Carlotta. She finds out that Carlotta left to visit Montse . Graceless is not happy. She told Carlotta to wait until he was better. Lauro says he convinced her to leave. He's perfectly fine. He doesn't understand her attitude.

Montse eye thoughtbubbles Ale telling her that he loves her and has never lied to her. She then remembers her conversation with JL. She gets interrupted by Rosario who informs her that a lady has just pulled up with luggage.

It's Carlotta! Montse runs to greet her Tia and then starts to show her around.

Montse and Carlotta chit-chat.

Maria asks Rosario who is the lady that just arrived? It's a relative of the patrona. Maria orders Rosario to prepare coffee and take it to them. How long is she planning to stay asks Maria rather rudely. With the amount of luggage she brought for awhile I imagine answers Rosario. Maria complains that now she will bring all her family to stay and Ale will not be happy. Rosario asks her why she hates the patrona so much. Because she looks down on all of us including Ale replies Maria. Rosario says it's not true. Sra. Montse is a good lady who treats me right. Maria keeps bad-mouthing Montse. Rosario says I know why you don't like her. Because your jealous. Maria calls her a campasina metiche who feels that nothing will happen to her because Montse protects her. But let me tell you you won't last long here. Ale is not stupid and will find out that you are covering for her.

Ale is riding a horse down the hillside (and he looks damn fine). Ale sees JL and tells him to accompany him.

The goons spot Ale with JL. Juvie is not happy but doesn't change plans. They hide but not well enough because it looks like JL sees them and tells Ale to hold off. He gets off his horse and pulls out his gun as fires are shot. One of the bullets hits my stud man and he goes down. JL pulls him to safety and keeps firing. The goons run off when one of them gets hurt. Ale my studly man is unconscious. JL says until one of us is dead and points the gun to Ale's head. Ale wakes up and asks him what he is doing. JL shoots the snake that was getting close to Ale instead. A snake was about to bite you replies JL. We need to get you out of here.

Carlotta tells Montse that Dim is working and giving her dad money. Blah, blah. Maria just strolls by and Carlotta asks her where her coffee is? Maria with an attitude says it will be brought in a minute. Carlotta questions Montse if all the employees are like her? Montse tells Carlotta the annoying tale of Maria. Carlotta asks if she's happy? Rosario brings in coffee when suddenly JL comes in with Ale and two other men carrying him. They take him to his bedroom and JL shouts for alcohol, water and cloths. Rosario breaks down crying and Montse runs after the men.

Chapter 25: An Honorable Gentleman

In Review

Lord Alejandro and José Luis stopped as the latter noticed some suspicious-looking men who fired at them. Lord Alejandro fell with a graze on his forehead. José Luis fired his pistol at the cowardly assassins, but surely did not recognize them. He looked down at his employer and rival, thinking what he had earlier said to the good Father Anselmo. “This will end when one of us is dead” and he aimed his pistol at Lord Alejandro.

That Which Now Occurs

Outdoors: However, honor won out in the end, for he fired elsewhere, hitting a snake, and felt relieved of his hate for the moment. Without taking his eyes away from the path of the fleeing assailants, he aided His Lordship off the ground.

Almonte Manor, Parlour: Lady Monserrat was entertaining her aunt, Lady Carlota, who spoke positively of Master Dimwit and his ventures, what little she knew of them. Maid Maria appeared and Lady Monserrat bade her fetch some coffee. Her impudent response was noticed by Aunt Carlota, who enquired as to whether all the servants were so rude as that. Lady Monserrat explained Maria's position in the household in such tones as to convey her displeasure with the situation. Aunt Carlota rose from the divan to join her niece on the sofa for a more intimate conversation on what disturbed her. As Her Ladyship began explaining her despair, Rosario appeared with the coffee tray, which she placed before the ladies. Lady Monserrat thanked her for providing such good accommodation for her aunt, but there was no time for pleasantries. The doors opened and José Luis entered, followed by other employees carrying Lord Alejandro. Lady Monserrat immediately ran behind them as Rosario cried out in anguish “He's dead!” She became aware again of Lady Carlota and bowed slightly to her before leaving the room.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber: The men brought him inside and laid him on the bed as Lady Monserrat cried “Carefully!” This did not please José Luis, but he knew better than to say so. He commented that the killers seemed to run in the direction of Agua Azul. The two men left as Lady Monserrat looked at her husband closely and expressed relief that he was alive and the head wound superficial. She looked back at José Luis and asked whether he had been shot. He said he had not. One could hear the minor-key undercurrent of suspicion as she asked whether he had shot him. After a brief pause, as though considering his words carefully he said “Had I shot him he would be dead.” He then left the room, leaving Lady Monserrat to tend her husband. She spoke softly, repeating his name, as she began opening his shirt to remove it. However, Maid Maria ran into the room and pulled her away from the bed in a most indecorous manner before kneeling at the bedside, crying theatrically and referring to His Lordship as “my love”. Before Lady Monserrat could remedy this, Lady Carlota entered, telling her niece that she ordered hot water and clean cloths. She then attempted to get Maria to retreat, only to be shouted at in a most rude and unseemly manner. She swore to care for His Lordship, but Lady Monserrat was having none of this. In well-delivered royal anger she ordered her to depart. When she would not move, Her Ladyship pulled her to her feet. The defiant wench insisted she was not leaving His Lordship's side and would not leave her alone with him because she would kill him. Lady Monserrat took a page from a romance author's book and slapped the insolent wench, almost causing her to fall. She ordered her once again to leave and Maria gave her one murderous glance before finally leaving the room. [Let this strumpet wail all she likes; she has tipped her hand before a noble and honest witness.] Rosario entered with a water basin and cloth as the two ladies removed His Lordship's blue shirt [We notice he wears no undertunic beneath it] and gasped in horror at the sight of the shoulder wound. She began bathing his wounds, careful to address him as Your Lordship.

Steward's Cottage: Refugio enquired as to how many bullets there were. José Luis answered that there were two; one grazed His Lordship's forehead and the other entered his left shoulder; he saw not where the others went. Refugio observed that had he been killed, Lady Monserrat would be a widow. José Luis told him that while he thought of it, he could not. He was an honorable man. They spoke of who may have known they would be in that area at that moment because the attack appeared to have been planned. Only those in the manor knew they would be near the paddocks to examine the stock chosen for sale. However, not having been there long, they knew not whether His Lordship had enemies.

Constable Loreto's Office: This corrupt man was not pleased at Juvenpervo's news. “Why was this not done?” “Because he was with someone else” was his explanation. “He was a good shot and he got one of us, like that” said he with a gesture. The argument continued over why Juvenpervo was in the town to fetch a doctor and Loreto, finally frustrated, ordered him out.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber [First background music sounds much like the soundtrack to The Age of Innocence]: Rosario continues to bathe the unconscious gentleman, telling Lady Monserrat that he is feverish and has a rapid pulse. She cried quietly, concerned that he may die. Lady Monserrat said that was unlikely, as he was young and strong. She bade Rosario to get fresh water and towels, then sat next to her husband, who finally woke. He had suffered no loss of memory. She told him he was in her chamber and asked if this disturbed him. It did not. With a tender gesture she prevented him touching the bandaged shoulder, telling him she had sent for a doctor and for Father Anselmo. “Do you think I wish to die?” he asked. “No, no,” she said, concerned. A primitive tune entered his mind, causing him to say that his death would benefit her. She was sad that he thought so, saying that no; she was concerned and wanted him well, for he was her husband.

Valverde Manor, Parlour: Master Dimwit and Lady Josefina sat in their wedding attire [Master Dimwit's being highly inadequate to Her Ladyship's] disagreeing about their plans for a wedding trip. He was still of a mind to conceal their (false) nuptials from his parents and she was meek in her agreement. Master Adolfo interrupted them to explain that the wedding chamber had been prepared. Lady Josefina hinted that she was weary and Master Dimwit bade her retire. She was confused at his reluctance to join her. He said he would after one more drink, but he had not returned the bottle to the sideboard. After she repaired to the bedchamber Master Adolfo teased his friend as regards his marital obligations. From the quantity of liquor in his glass, it was apparent that he required much liquid courage, and did not hesitate to convey this.

Almonte Manor, Outside: Father Anselmo arrived, enquiring of His Lordship's condition. Lady Monserrat met him and explained that the doctor was in attendance. He asked for an account of the event and Lady Monserrat explained that His Lordship and their steward were riding to the paddocks at the time of the attack. Perhaps the criminals were thieves intent on stealing horses or other livestock. Father Anselmo asked whether the steward had also been shot and when Her Ladyship answered in the negative, he became suspicious. She would not believe that José Luis would take such a criminal action, but Father Anselmo's suspicions came as a result of his conversation with him the previous day. Lady Monserrat blamed herself because she had accused José Luis of cowardice. At the last she cried, not knowing what to do or what she felt. Father Anselmo asked why she did not tell her husband the truth, but she could not. She feared that His Lordship would die. Father Anselmo appeared relieved at this confession.

Almonte Manor, Kitchen: Juvenpervo entered (unannounced as usual) and Maria asked whether he was aware of what had happened. He said he was, perhaps the only honest declaration of his life. Maria expressed her anguish, saying that if His Lordship died, so would she. He scoffed at this, but she saw from his cavalier manner that he knew more than that which he spoke. She recalled that she had asked to accompany them and he had advised against it. She correctly assumed that he knew something would happen. As she screamed louder and louder for him to admit this, neither heard Refugio enter the kitchen. He clearly heard something, perhaps enough of the accusation to come to his own conclusions. He was not concealed owing to the lack of opportunity, and the two became aware of his presence. Juvenpervo eagerly applied force, not knowing that José Luis was near. The two were forceful enough to cause Juvenpervo and his niece to depart and Refugio explained his suspicions to José Luis.

Outside: Lady Monserrat explained that once her husband became aware of the steward's true identity he would hate her. Father Anselmo emphasized that an impassioned response would speak of His Lordship's love for her, but that it was important that he learn the truth from her. At the last, she told him that the only thing that would resolve the matter would be if José Luis left and never returned. They returned inside and the good priest went in search of refreshment.

Parlour: Lady Monserrat noted that Lady Carlota had fallen asleep on the couch but then was aware that José Luis had followed her inside. Trying to conceal the whirlwind of her emotions, she told him this was imprudent, pointing out the presence of her aunt. He insisted upon speaking with her. Neither noticed that Lady Carlota had awakened and neither could have known that she heard his name being said. She followed them, only to see Rosario coming with another water basin. She enquired as to the identity of the man, only to be told that he was the steward, Antonio Olivares. Rosario excused herself as she was needed to help the doctor.

Outside: Lady Monserrat told José Luis he needed to tell the truth. He should be a man about this and do so or leave forever. She would not leave with him. He asked whether she loved her husband. She told him that it was her misfortune to love him [José Luis]. However, she will not leave with him like a thief in the night. He tells her he will not leave and in fact, will use the situation to his advantage. He will take advantage of having saved His Lordship's life and remain. When he attempted to embrace Lady Monserrat she struggled, finally breaking free and telling him never to seek her out again.

Parlour: Lady Carlota had watched from the window. When Lady Monserrat returned inside she confronted her as to José Luis' identity. Lady Monserrat requested her silence and they would speak later.

Corridor: Rosario explained to Father Anselmo that the steward had saved her son's life; had he been alone he would have been killed. Lady Monserrat arrived too late to hear this but all repaired to the bedchamber.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber: They entered to find the doctor continuing his work. He requested privacy, but His Lordship said his wife should remain. The doctor gave him an injection prior to extracting the bullet. Her Ladyship appeared frightened.

Valverde Manor: At that same moment Her Ladyship's shameless brother was nearly unconscious from a very different medicine. After an excess of drink, he fell asleep on the divan, only to be found by his unfortunate bride. She attempted to wake him, reminding him that it was their wedding night. However, he snored. Master Adolfo entered and Lady Josefina held him responsible for her husband's drunkenness. Despite his own inebriation, Master Adolfo aided his friend into the bridal chamber, depositing him upon the bed. The disappointment of the bride was sad, perhaps pathetic.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber: She watched as the doctor probed for the bullet in her husband's shoulder, finally wiping some sweat off His Lordship's handsome face. When morning broke he awakened to find her at his side. They noted the time as she realized he had placed his right hand on her legs while asleep. She moved it so she could rise, saying she will get some fresh orange juice for him so he may take his medicines; there was some for pain if he required it. He asked her where she had slept that night and whether it had been in the same room. She told him she did not sleep, then departed for the kitchen.

Stables: José Luis and Refugio saw Juvenpervo scraping something from his boots, but saw only on other worker in the building. José Luis asked him when there last had been thieves in the paddocks. “There have always been thieves” was the answer “on all sides.” “On the other estates as well?” asked José Luis. “Why are there no workers here?” Juvenpervo made an excuse, only to be faced with questions about where he had been the day before. His vague answers did not please José Luis, who prevented him lighting a cigarette [In truth smoking should not be permitted in such a building] and informed him that after Lord Alejandro, “the highest authority on this property is me!” Juvenpervo understood the tenor of his meaning, and walked away. Refugio, who had been watching and listening, was then certain that Juvenpervo was a liar.

Kitchen: Lady Monserrat found Rosario already about in the kitchen and she had already prepared the orange juice. She bade Her Ladyship to rest.

Valverde Manor: A most discordant situation faced Master Dimwit as he awoke to find Lady Josefina beside him. He rose quickly, asking himself what had transpired the night before, his mind pealing and twanging in what for him was a most unpleasant key. He had no memory of the events. As he looked upon his sleeping bride he shuddered, then repaired to the water closet for a necessary purge.

Parlour, then Study: Lady Carlota insisted upon speaking to her niece, who insisted they repair to the study. There she admitted the identity of their steward and explained how he came to be at the estate. She further explained that she repeatedly asked him to depart but that he is obsessed with taking her with him when he does. At Lady Carlota's question she told her she did not want to leave with him. Lady Carlota told her that she and her mother were aware that José Luis had been on the beach on the wedding day. Lady Monserrat did not leave then and did not wish to now. However, the fear constantly in her mind like an endless violin legato has become unbearable. It would almost be better for His Lordship to learn the truth so it could end. Lady Carlota embraced her that she might take some comfort from her presence.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber: Rosario aided Lord Alejandro by holding the glass so he might drink. He expressed his gratitude and explained he was in some pain, but that was probably to the good. He asked whether Her Ladyship had been in her room all night and Rosario told him she had. She had been very worried about him; everyone had. Alas, this was interrupted by the arrival of the unworthy wench Maria who wore a flirtatious manner until she stood at the edge of the bed and began telling him that she had been forcibly dismissed from the room and slapped. Rosario tried to silence her, but it was His Lordship's weary voice requesting solitude that forced her retreat. Rosario followed her into the corridor and scolded her for disturbing His Lordship during his recovery. The rejoinder that he needed to know the truth caused Rosario to tell her that His Lordship's health was the most important thing and she was not to impede his recovery. Maria only retreated after telling her that she should enjoy her brief time there because she intended for His Lordship to dismiss her without a reference.

Pedro Medina's Office: He informed his wife that he intended that they give an important party. This pleased her. As she departed, Constable Loreto entered to inform him that their plan had not born fruit. The Lord Mayor was not pleased, telling him that this required correction immediately. He ordered him to leave.

Valverde Manor: Master Dimwit emerged from the bathing chamber in a towel to find that the bed had been made. As he took his clothes with the intent to dress, Lady Josefina arrived with a breakfast tray.

She gushed about it being their first breakfast as husband and wife. He did not wish to eat in the bed to risk of fouling the bed with crumbs. The passionate flamenco music in Lady Josefina's mind continued as she spoke of that night being their wedding night. At his confusion she explained that nothing had transpired in that vein the night before, as he had been so inebriated that Master Adolfo had to bring him up the stairs. She had undressed him completely to make him more comfortable. He then pleaded a chill and repaired to the bathing chamber with his clothing, leaving the music in her mind to come to an inconclusive end.

Steward's Cottage: As José Luis worked on the accounts, Refugio returned from his purpose, which was talking to the workers. They had told him that they had not seen Juvenpervo all the day. They both concluded that Juvenpervo was among the attackers.

Almonte Manor, Study: Believing that she should not have married, Lady Monserrat laments that it happened due to so many lies having been told. She asked Lady Carlota who was the most responsible for this, Lord Alejandro, or Countess Graceless. Lady Carlota claimed to know nothing. Lady Monserrat told her that His Lordship said he was equally deceived but she knew not what to think.

Comments:
I have always hated that stupid circus music used for the "wedding" but it was very appropriate there.

The music in this series is so good I'm trying to find a better way to integrate comments about it.

Have to agree with Gloria that Countess Graceless appears to enjoy slumming. She is in no position to hold her yerno in contempt for the condition of his birth.

Thanks to you both for the wonderful recaps. You did not miss a thing.

I loved:

Montse slapping and kicking Maria ("insolent wench" indeed) out so she could be in charge of Ale' s care.

Montse telling JL he should have had "the pantalones" "the pants" (what a ladylike way to say something else. Lol) to tell Ale the truth.

Maria finding out that uncle Juvie had something to do with Ale's shooting. That info should worm its way around her mind and hopefully make her even more miserable.

Aunt Carlota confronting Montse about JL and Montse asking her who was at most fault for her "arranged marriage". Aunt Carlota's presence is going to be a good thing.

UA, the circus music did really fit the bill in this case.

All in all, very entertaining.

Gloria! Thank you my dear! Your thorough and entertaining recap helped for parts I didn't understand. Something I did understand was that full body swoon Graceless did when pervie's slimy lips were whispering in her ear! So am I to understand she has been banging him too?

I also unfortunately understood how quickly studly turns to stupid and love your response to his unbelieveable praise of Maria's "character": "Really? Was she good and noble when she borrowed your wife's undies and came onto you?)" Lord, have mercy! Did Padre talk to him about this? Ale! Maria invited herself to your bed because you have welcomed her into your home and to your table! You will not be betraying a childhood friendship nor your solidarity with the proletariat to honor Montse's request!

Thank goodness Lottie is here! and thank you Gloria, now of to capitulo 25!

Lila

Urban! Aye, your lofty narrative doth quench the flow of my oft coarse utterances! 'Tis a good thing! Love it! Let's "translate" this bit I loved: "Let this strumpet wail all she likes; she has tipped her hand before a noble and honest witness." "You done messed up now, bitch, Lottie got yo' number!" Hee Hee! That Maria! Uuuuuuf! So glad Montse slapped the **it out of her! So glad Lottie is in the HOUSE!

I feel sorry for poor little rich girl, Fina, but I have a feeling she is going to be hell on wheels when she finds out about the foul trick that's been played on her. How did Montse and Nadia end up with such useless brothers? What scum!

And Urban, when Padre and Montse were out on the veranda or wherever at nightfall and Montse wailed that it was her fault if JL shot Ale, didn't Monste realize that JL never talked to Ale man to man but rather took the coward's way out and shot him? She seemed horrified to realize she was all ready to pack and go but JL had never said a word to Ale.

By the way, Montse's crying reminds me of Laura Petrie from the Dick Van Dyke show!

Lastly, ah, how sweet the tender young shoots of love sprouting between Montse and Ale. These two kids really need to talk and try to get to know one another (like alone at the dinner table Ale! or thy bedchamber is perfectly suited as well, Montse!)

Thank you Urban and Gloria! Love to hear everyone's take on a couple of good episodes.

Lila

I'm about to dive into the recap. I already know you both did a great job.

OT: Urban- I'm off today and have the tv tuned to Vias de Amor, which you've mentioned. There really are a LOT of familiar faces in this, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how all these characters are connected and what the central story is. In any case, it's always need seeing the actors we've come to enjoy in earlier roles.

P.S. I know JL didn't shoot Ale but want clarification on if Montse thinks he did because he was too cowardly to talk to Ale and declare his true identity and love for Montse. Thanks!

Lila

Gloria and Urban:

Thank you so much for this fabulous, fan-tastic recap! So well done!

My favorite part this epi? That slap that Monse gave Maria! Yay! It was more than time for that! I am glad that Lottie was there to see it too. I too am glad that Lottie has come for a little visit. She will back up Monse.

Juvieperive is a true perv. I couldn't believe what he did in the church and Gracie's reaction! I'm surprised lightening didn't strike them!

So what is up with Pedro? I don't get the gay vibe from him. He is acting as if sex is abhorrent to him. I guess we will have to see what is up with him.

Juvie is a very bad liar and I'm thinking Refugio and JL have his number. When they asked him where he'd been earlier he hemmed and hawwwed and who would have thunk that Refugio would check it out and find out that Juvie lied? Plus Juvie gets that sweating, can't keep his eyes still routine. He couldn't even lie to Maria.

Ale is stuck on stupid as far as Maria goes. He is so blind he can't see what she is trying to do. It's as Gloria said Maria borrowed Monse's undies but then again, maybe Ale doesn't know that. Still, he should know what Maria is up to.

It was good to see Esme again. I have missed her wit, but she was very kind to Nadia. I am also glad she didn't have to "entertain" JuviePervie.

Dimwit and Josie's wedding, the pictures were a hoot! They looked like an old tin type in the photos, something from the Victorian era. The furniture, the clothes, the whole getup. If Josie had been thinking, she should have told Juvie that they had done the deed the night before, but she is honest to a fault. I can't stand what Dimwit and Addy have done to her.

I'm glad that JL saved Ale's life, and can't wait to find out what happens next. JL seems so conflicted not only with Monse but Ale as well. He has even gone to the trouble to find out who is responsible for the attempt on Ale's life. Interesting! What will he do???

Well done, ladies!

Very good episodes last night. After Ale was brought into the hacienda wounded, I found I was holding my breath, wondering what would happen next, and disappointed I'd have to wait till Wednesday to find out. But then I remembered, there was a second hour. Yay! I felt bad for the recappers, but very happy for us in the audience.

I think during their conversation outside, JL cleared up for Monse that he wasn't the one who shot Ale, and she believed him. Meanwhile, Rosario was also clearing that up for Padre. So no, Monse did not believe JL had shot her husband by the end of the episode.

Ale constantly putting Monse above his wife is maddening. How does he think that he and Monse can get to know each other and build the marriage he says he wants, if a woman he knows is in love with him, and has tried to seduce him, is living under the same roof? It wouldn't matter if she and Monse got along or not. It's not a healthy situation.

That conversation when Ale thought Monse would be happy to go into party planning and host mode, and was surprised to learn she's a homebody, was very telling. How does he think they can continue to learn more about each other, with an interloper like Maria around?

JL and Refugio might be able to do some real good by exposing Juvie and his band of thieves and murderers. They’ve be putting their lives at risk again if they poke around too much, though.

And we finally learn more about Pedro’s secret life. His ruse at the club is actually a pretty sweet deal for Esme. Pedro is either gay, or has some real trauma in his background.

Gloria and UrbanA: Thanks for two great segments! I loved the detail and the nicks.

Gloria and Urban -- you both did a stupendous job, each of you in your own inimitable style. Thank you so much!

Gloria, I do have a slight correction. You wrote:

"Ale my studly man…"

Surely you meant our studly man -- ¿o me equivoco?

So now that we have heard Pedro Medina string together a few words, we observe he has a stammer that he works very hard to control. Another brushstroke added to the psychological portrait. Aha!

Two great recaps, Gloria and UA.

Thanks for all the details. We have our own dumb and dumber pair with Dimmie and Addie. Such a rich mine of hilarity in their schemes. The "eyebrows vows" wedding ceremony was one of the best TN weddings yet. Were they at Jose's house or a hotel?

Lady Graceless and her shoes (shaking head in disbelief). I can only suppose she wants to be adorned from head to toe.

Juvie is making the most of his evil persona. He's not quite the brightest bulb in the carton, but he makes the effort. Loved the comment that Maria should use Dawn to wash off the grease.

Montse spending the night watching over Ale was sweet and another tie binding them together.

Thanks for the adventure-packed back-to-back recaps Gloria and UA. Very different styles both executed beautifully.

Well the mystery about Pedro is pretty well settled for me. A gay villain... I love it it. My guess is that he is so eager to get that land from Alejandro so he can grow acres and acres of Baby's Breath for his flower arranging proclivities and as for Esmerelda, he clearly wants to style that unruly hair of hers and probably shape her eyebrows. He'd probably like to do a make-over on Josefina as well. We can only begin imagine the evil that lurks in his heart.

Too bad that JL and María can't take a good look at each other and each settle for second prize. Their situations are very similar, but at least María is more or less upfront about the designs the has on Alejandro while JL is more of a deceitful skulker.

For some reason it cracked me up when the fake priest poured himself Tequila into a Champagne flute... that was just sooo wrong.

Carlos

LOL! Carlos, you are wicked. :)

La Paloma- The wedding was at Addie's country house, not Fina's house in Agua Azul.

Seeing Gracie, now we know where Monse gets her taste for impractical shoes.

Adolfo should really be very peeved with that guy. He certainly needs to watch novelas if he ever again needs to learn how to behave like a priest.

Alejandro is being far too easy on Maria. He's told her he thinks of her as a sister (which means to us that he will never boink her) but it's obvious she isn't listening. She plays passive/aggressive games with him, which is the worst kind of female behavior. Although Monserrat doesn't have a sister she sees right through this in ways he isn't capable of.

Gaspar would never let her get away with this, which may be why she isn't broken up about his death the way she should be.

The "wedding" of Dimmy and Fina was hilarius ,when the priest pours himself some tequila i always lose it. And the Juvie pretending to be a priest was funny too

And yeah Fina should get a make over and get sweet revenge on Dimmy!

Thanks for mentioning that. It's another crime toward his Karmageddon.

What insanely inappropriate clothes on Countess Graceless. Phyllis Diller would have nightmares at her clothes. The dress was too short for a woman of her age and those boots were quite ridiculous.

It occurred to me that Alejandro should have heard Maria address him as "my love" and realize she did this in front of Monserrat. Carlota was there to hear this, too. And I love how Rosario called Maria out on her jealousy.

Both of these mature ladies need to address this with Alejandro, who can send Maria to work with Victor if he uses the right words. However, nobody else but us flies on the wall have seen how pervy her uncle has been with her.

The way things are going at the moment somebody should be expressing suspicion of El Pervo to Alejandro.

El Pervo has so much chutzpah he should figure out how to bottle and sell it. That would make him a fortune. Claiming Monserrat as though she were a blowup doll instead of a human being. And he's looking to boink her mother and his own niece as well.

Could it get any more perverted than that?

Gloria and UA thanks for your recaps. Wow, that was quite an episode. Ale almost killed, JL still lurking, and poor Montse. I'm so glad Tia Carlotta is there.

Merry Christmas!

Mil ocho mil gracias to both UA and Gloria! I had forgotten it was going to be double episodes. I was pleasantly surprised I didn't have to wait for more, but I feel bad for the recappers! Double episodes are what burned me out on recapping and sent me into hiatus.

That wedding was FANTASTIC. I loved it. Everything from the art direction to the wardrobe to the lighting to the music to the acting was perfection. It would have been really romantic had I not been familiar with Adolfo and Dimwit. I thought Josefina looked really beautiful in spite of the unfashionable dress and eyebrows, and I have an even lower opinion of Dimdim for not being able to see her appeal. I am loving the actor playing him, though. He is doing a great job. So funny.

Is it just me, or was Montserrat about to tell Ale that she loves him, then she caught herself? I wish he were a little more analytical so he would figure out that his blind devotion to Maria is the major impediment in his wife's warming affections toward him. I want Montse and Rosario and Carlota and maybe that background maid to team up and get video of Maria's scheming and abuses.

I've seen enough novelas to have seen the white pajama-style outfits on the men but does anyone else think it's too informal and therefore inappropriate for anything other than a beach wedding? I can't help but think that such attire doesn't show proper respect for the occasion.

OT to Vivi: If you want more info on that series I'll e it to you. It's at episode 3 now out of 220 (long for that era) and the story isn't traditional.

OOPS; that's 53. But worth watching for how gorgeous Jorge Salinas and Gabriel Soto are in it.

I actually really like that look for wedding attire in a hot climate, even if it isn't on the beach. But then I am a casual person, and I really don't like tuxedos. I have other problems with their respect for the occasion in this particular case, obviously, but I liked the clothes.

Julia: "Is it just me, or was Montserrat about to tell Ale that she loves him, then she caught herself?" Yes! Julia, I'd forgotten that! She sure did! I just love the slowly dawning realization of her love for Ale. I loved how she fretted and cried real tears of fear and helplessness and how she stayed by his side all night holding his hand. She does love him and I think surprised herself by beginning to declare it. I love to fuss about Maria's antics and Ale's placing her above Montse but we're compensated each time with this evidence of Montse and Ale slowly bonding.

Lila

Gloria and Urban - Thanks a bunch. Great reliving last night's episodes through your great storytelling.

I've understood Montse's every step, up till now. Don't understand why she answered to JL that *he* is the only one she's loved. That's not going to make him leave. She should've told him the truth - that even if she left Ale, she wasn't going to return to JL. He definitely lacked avocados not going to Montse's father, but I don't blame him for not telling Ale his true identity. JL is wanted for Gamboa's murder and theft and is an accomplice to the killing of a naval officer after all. How does he know that the man who bought himself a wife wouldn't give JL up to the police to be rid of him? Also, I'm not sure if the Padre knows about the trumped-up murder charges and that Montse's own brother is the true killer. If JL would let him, I think the Padre could help.

Refugio is funny. Everytime he risks himself to go visit Esme, he overhears her in a compromising conversation and just runs off. Dude, why not stick around and listen to Esme? So far she hasn't lied to you about anything, even if it hurts.

Julia, I too thought Josefina looked nice. It seemed like she was going for a Roaring Twenties look.

Awesome recap, thank you both!

The highlight/lowlight was when Maria DRAGGED Montse away from Ale's side (she has some nerve!) and then when Montse slaps her a good one.

I just could not BELIEVE that Maria is such a bruja that she would drag the Montse away from Ale like that, without hesitation or preamble, as if Montse had no right to be there. Maria really is overstepping her bounds so badly. She richly deserved that slap.

It's only too bad that Ale didn't see how Maria yanked Montse away from him. I wonder how bad Maria will finally have to get before Ale will see the light.

Also wondering what Pedro's malfunction is. I still think in the closet, but it could be more complicated than that.

Elvira im pretty sure Pedro is doing it on purpose he did only marry Nadia for position. He is just a greedy ,cold tyrant ,not believing in marriage. And i think Esme was bullshitting Nadia or it was all real,confused..

Personally I think Pedro only has a hard-on for money and power. He married Nadia because she is a perfect political trophy wife and that is all about appearances.

He could also be asexual. Not a big percent of the population, but I've met a few.

I had a friend in the SCA years ago who had a gay brother and an asexual one. When their mother met new people and was asked about her three children, she would say "One of each" and have to follow that with "One heterosexual, one homosexual, one asexual."

I also wonder whether he's actually impotent. If he were asexual and never had a sex drive he wouldn't care. He would make a deal either with a equally asexual or gay woman for a discreet arrangement. His hostility toward Nadia doesn't make any real sense otherwise.

I don't think Esme was lying. She's pretty honest about the nature of her work, and I think if she did have something going on with Pedro, she would tell Nadia to take it up with her husband, not with her. Plus, I'm not sure things really do go that far at the tamest pole dancing club on the planet. Also also, it did seem like Pedro is just trying to create a reputation as a womanizer among a certain crowd...kissing Esme in a place that was meant to seem like he wanted privacy, yet was all too easy to spy on, making sure to take his clients/henchies there and that they knew he was with Esme, the staff guy all too willing to point out what Pedro was up to while superficially claiming it's secret...it just reeks of fakery. He's trying to make himself seem alpha male. I think he's really insecure about something, either his sexuality or impotence.

I recommended this book in a previous discussion on another series, but Sex Lives of the Great Dictators is very revealing with an interesting theme: Many dictators are sadists and it's related to some fear of inadequacy. Many had deformed genitalia and most had sex lives loaded with threats they made against their victims and their families.

We've got a whole series to find this out.

I used to work in a strip joint. A lot of stuff goes down there. It ain't all that innocent. I worked in a "classy" one. I believe Esmeralda isn't doing anything because she waited until Nadia was gone to say "she doesn't know".

Also, does anyone else think that they could out pole dance Esmeralda with a broken leg? Geez, they are awful.

Wow, terrific recaps ladies!

Like some of you I also loved the old-fashioned feel to the wedding and especially the photo session. I thought Fina looked absolutely lovely; it's a stretch that Dim finds her repulsive. The priest was a hoot. No wonder he was slamming the tequila in a champagne flute; the poor guy is only trying to get his money one way or another.

Best line of the night was from Fina, when she told Dimitrio not to get dressed "because his huevos would get cold". Ha hahaa! Surely that line was deliberate.

The wedding and boda de noche were my favorite scenes, but my absolute favorite moment was when Monse slapped the upstart brazen hussy Maria. You go Monse!!

Did Nadia say that they have NEVER had sex? Is she still a virgin? If not, he's gay.

P.S. I know I say this every week, but your style is so cool, Urban. I wish I could do that! I feel like I'm reading a book or an original story every week.

CYNDERLLA

Two different styles but complimentary and in sync in terms of excellent content, wry wit and excellent observations.

Gloria:" Adolfo spills the frioles and tells her that her hubby is kicking it with Esme at the club", "she looks like she is being turned on my Pervie's caresses. I am on the other hand trying to keep my dinner down", Really? Was she good and noble when she borrowed your wife's undies and came onto you?)" and "(Note to self: when hiring a fake priest, make sure he is not an idiot)were amazing - all.

UA: “defiant wench”, “Lady Monserrat took a page from a romance author's book and slapped the insolent wench” and "Let this strumpet wail all she likes; she has tipped her hand before a noble and honest witness" were spectacular.

Pervie Juvie. I had to laugh when his grinning, leering face emerged from the confessional! But, I’m sure my surprise paled to Graciela’s. Alberto Estrella is taking over this novela as the man we loathe yet can’t wait to see what he does next (ever thankful we only see him now preparing his food but not eating it)…

I also enjoyed the wedding pictures. I hope Dim and Josie are having fun with their roles – Veronica is such a beautiful woman (even with the ugly apparel, unibrow and unkempt hair), Dim wincing in “pain” from having to kiss her is absurd. I did not enjoy Josie’s humiliation on her wedding night nor her hurt or anguish.

And Maria needs a good dressing down and severe attitude adjustment!

I am grateful for many things this holiday season, the extraordinary recappers and commenters are chief among them.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Diana

Oh my gosh! What absolutely fantastic recaps from both of you ladies!!! I know this is so much work, but please know that your work is highly treasured!!

Rosario, Rosario, I can't wait for you to tell your son who you really are.

That will be a game changer, for sure!

Fatima

Thanks for all your comments. Glad you enjoyed it. Many, many thanks to Urban for helping me out. Couldn't have done it without her. Sending you a big hug right now.

Novela Maven, I stand corrected. You are right, he is not MY stud but ours. :)

I shouted "YES" when Montse gave Maria a bofetada en la cara. As far as Pedro is concerned, you all bring up great points. I don't get the gay vibe, but more that he might like his women trashy. He was more "affectionate" with Esme and absolutely cold with Nadia. She is more of a lady and perhaps it doesn't turn him on.

Can't wait for Thursday. Merry Christmas everyone!

Cynderella, I've read enough Victorian-style literature and seen a lot of Masterpiece Theatre productions to know when a novella feels like one. This series is a modern-dress version of a very Victorian sort of story, as was LQNPA.

When I was a theatre major in college one term paper was to write a one-act play based on a fairy tale and in the style of either Ibsen, Strindberg, or Chekhov. We had to read all the plays of the playwright we chose for ours. This wasn't an easy task, but it certainly made us learn what made those 19-C authors tick. I wish I still had mine.

The music in these two episodes was excellent and sometimes quite jarring in the suspenseful scenes. I'm working on launching an opera blog and this series is being mentioned in my article about novelas and opera.

Many, many thanks to Urban for your help. Couldn't have done it without you. Sending you a big hug right now.

Novela Maven, I stand corrected. He is not MY stud but ours. :)

I shouted "YES" when Montse gave Maria a bofetada en la cara.

I am not sensing the gay vibe from Pedro. Perhaps he prefers his women "trashy" and not "ladylike". Although he's not getting it on with Esme. Well, that's what she says.

Can't wait for Thursday. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Feliz Navidad a todos!

I'm confused about the schedule. A double header on Monday, but the next show not until Thursday? Thanks for letting me know.

I'm following later on Hulu+.

The show is on right now, Wed, and it's a double episode. Got home just in time.

Great work, Gloria and Urban. You two made such a great team on these episodes.

I have not seen the episodes yet, but I can't wait to see them based on your reprise.

Thanks, ladies, for the great job.

Elna June

Thanks Vivi!

Wow -- recappers -- What a lot to get through and so well done and funny. Muchas gracias!

The central triangle characters are starting to get on my last nerve with their various stupidities so some small part of me is starting to pull for Juvenpervie! Monsy and her constant wailing and crying about Mentiras! and El me Compro! is now beyond annoying. I was happy to see Ale begin to give her a verbal Get Over Yourself!

Of course, in the real world, ha ha, Ale would simply say, "Calm down. I merely bought access to you because I'm a bastardo. It was up to you, Princess, to say yes or no, which is why I didn't tell you that I had paid my way in. And I like your Papito -- In fact, I may like your Papito more than I do you. Stop carrying on, because you said Yes and the Yes is only deepening, courtesy of this bullet hole, pulled out of my shoulder in the last few hours!"

Then again, we would have no novela and Monsy would find another neurotic reason to keep resisting. I'm thinking that the actor playing Jose Luis has really stepped up his game. I feel terrible for him every time he's on. A tragic figure.

For the rest, more Daniela Castro, please, and her nasty ankle boots, and definitely more crazy sinister, no me toques! Pedro. Sergio Sendel is another gorgeous specimen and looks as though he could play a terrific young Leon Trotsky.

I notice that slowly but surely the beautiful Josefina is having her looks altered. Slowly. Dim could use a make-over himself. Nice looking young man -- trim those bangs!

Anyway, thanks again for all the hard work and up and ready to read so quickly.
