Mentir Para Vivir #40 Mon 12/2/13 The more things change, the more Paloma wants them to stay the same

Sorry for being a little late with the recap, but they talk sooo much and sooo fast!!!

We start with a repeat of Friday’s fight between Stallone and Van Damme. And the winner is… Chuck Norris, of course!
NOPE, different show…

Allow me start over. Since Jardinera’s description of the scene was stellar, I’m going to concentrate less on the actual fight and more on whatever goes through my head whenever I see handsome men fighting.
So, Ricardo and Jose Luis get into it over who has more rights over Oriana (basically). The shirts don’t come off, which is a bad direction choice (in my humble, neutral opinion), but their soaked, glistening upper pecks make the scene quite captivating all the same. On the downside, whenever one of them gets punched, no blood comes out, but a sort of watery, milk like liquid, that is kind of disgusting.
So Ric pushes JL in the pool and JL comes out of it with his gun pointing at Ric, looking drenched and scorching hot at the same time.
Oriana doesn’t seem impressed with his hunkiness, though (if this won’t convince her, nothing will). She intervenes to stop the fight, and so does Lucina. JL gets out of the pool and I notice he hasn’t even lost a button, his shirt is wet, but still looks impeccable – has Ric lost his ascot at the very least? Lame fight, you guys!
Everyone seems terrified by the gun JL is carrying, they ask him to leave immediately. He goes, but not before warning Oriana to remember their talk. As Ric is being taken inside, Lucina frowns at JL, while holding onto a baseball bat, but then she sees that Raquel has observed the entire fight from afar and didn’t intervene. Lucina is upset, but I kind of understand Raquel: she was enjoying the show too much… Two men fighting in the rain is like two women wrestling in chocolate, right?

Paloma and Padre Mariano talk about Tru-nes. The old lady wants to know where she was buried and Padre promises to get the information. Then Paloma finds out that Oriana and Lina are gone and she’s upset because they didn’t even say goodbye. Padre tries to explain that Oriana feels too much shame right now; when she decided to impersonate Ines she was very scared, she was forced to do it by circumstances; that’s why she even wanted to leave that time when she was gone for half a night. And she never surrendered to the police because of her daughter. Paloma now understands everything much better, but she still wonders why Oriana didn’t trust her with the truth.
She realizes that the fear she had for her husband made it impossible for her to find her nieta in time, but she now loves Oriana and Lina so much, they gave her back her happiness, brightened her days. Now she also understands why Oriana never accepted her presents, too, but she wants her back in the house because she loves her very much and she can’t abandon her. Padre explains that Oriana has a lot of problems and she doesn’t want Paloma involved, but Paloma insists that she wants to help out. Also, has Ric abandoned Oriana??  Padre doesn’t know what to answer to that.

Inside Casa Bonita, everybody is fawning over Ricardo. Cesar can’t believe JL had a gun, no decent person would ever carry one (HA, tell this to half of Ameica!). Ric explains that he wasn’t the one to start the fight, he only defended himself. Lucina scolds Raquel for telling Ricardo where to find JL, she believes she only did it to cause problems. Raquel is in no mood for this, though, so she storms off. Ricardo doesn’t think a doctor is necessary, but he does think that JL is dangerous and Oriana should stay with his tia, Fidelia, for her and Alina’s protection. But Oriana doesn’t want anyone else to take care of her, she wants to be self sufficient. After she leaves, Cesar asks what is going on and finds out JL is Oriana’s husband. Also, Oriana’s decision to be independent means that she’ll get back with JL, as far as Ric understands.

Lila and Berto talk about the investment that Ric refused. She’s very upset, wants to talk to him, but this story is so two weeks ago, she’s really wasting her time. Berto tries to explain her this much, but Lila is so money hungry that she wants to attack Gabriel’s will, too. If Seb was not Gabe’s son, then she demands to have the part of his shares that should be hers, even if that means she’ll have to waste a lot of money with lawyers.

The next day Alina and Oriana go to school; Alina wants to see her dad and her abuela and is also happy because school will soon be over.
In the hotel, Raquel is upset because Lucina allowed Oriana to use the truck to take Alina to school. She thinks Oriana is taking advantage of them, but Lucina promptly reminds her that it was Oriana the person who gave them the 3 millions for their hotel.

At Ric’s place, he and Piero talk about the fact that a bodyguard is not needed anymore because Oriana is living at Casa Bonita. Piero asks Ric about Fabiola, but Ric has no clue – at this point Piero’s interest doesn’t seem very platonic… I don’t know how I feel about this, he really is too old for her!
They also talk about the fact that Licenciado Manrique returned from Colombia with news about the investigation going on there.

Paloma is with her nurse, very happy with the care she’s receiving. She calls Ric, tells him she wants to see her nieta, Ines – for everyone Oriana has to remain Ines and she wants her to come back to the house. Ric doesn’t think Oriana will agree to this, but he’ll try to talk to her.
The nurse tells Paloma that Maddy wants to see her, but Paloma would rather not; maybe after she takes a bath and she eats her breakfast.

Oriana goes to visit Padre Plaid. Ric sees her from afar entering the church, sighs and follows her inside.
Both Oriana and Ricardo have come to ask about Paloma. They are a little awkward with one another, but wait, it gets worse.
After Ric says that the bruises on his face were caused by a brawl he had with a drunk, Padre explains that he spent the entire night with Paloma – she is suffering a lot, but she has such a big heart and she loves Oriana so much, she wants her back at the house. Oriana doesn’t want to continue being a usurper, though. Padre explains she didn’t usurp anything, she just filled a void that Paloma had in her heart. (nicely put, padre!)
Oriana insists that she doesn’t want to burden Paloma with all her problems: JL, the murder charges etc…
Ric intervenes to state that using the 2 guns he has, they will be able to clear her of his father’s death and JL already promised to say the truth about her innocence in the whole dirty money story.
Yes, but only if I go back to him, Oriana points out. Ric thinks JL plans to bribe the Colombian authorities and he offers to do it before (in the never-ending game of “Who saves Oriana faster and can call her MI mujer”).
No, Oriana doesn’t want Ric to break the law for her. Ric gets angry, calls JL a delinquent who will surely treat both her and Alina badly. Oriana rejects the notion, JL adores Alina and he never harmed neither of them physically. She storms off, Ric is furious, admits to Mariano that he fought with JL, not some random drunk. The guy threatened him with a gun, he doesn’t want Oriana back with such a dangerous creep; and he can’t stand the thought of imagining her in his bed, having sex with her. I have to say he seems more worried about the sex part then the possible life threat – but I find it very realistic that he talks about it freely, in tns whenever a woman has to return to her unlovable husband, the language being used is very coy; this is a nice change of pace, that also helps us see that Ricardo and Oriana, unlike many tns couples who are all rainbows and roses, have a very powerful sexual connection, too.
Anyway, Ric’s frustration is out of control, he says that he loves Oriana and he knows that she loves him, too, the thought of her being with another man is driving him insane (he already has the crazy eyes, DZ is top notch when Ric has to show his possessive, slightly obsessive side).
Padre tries to say something about the sexual act in general, but Ric promptly cuts him off, pushes him away and then starts weeping – he can’t believe that another man will kiss and touch his love and coerce her into accepting his closeness just because her daughter is using emotional blackmail on her.
Expressing a concern we just talked about this weekend (Ric’s feelings towards Alina) Padre asks if he actually loves the little girl or he just tolerates her because of Oriana.
Ric is offended by the question - of course he loves her, but that doesn’t mean that a grown woman should listen to his 6 years old daughter. Padre looks at Oriana like a man, too, what would he do if he were him?
Mariano refuses to answer the question, he’s not Ric and besides, his love for God is above all else.

JL rents a house with a lot of rooms, a pool and a garden, for his family to move in. Ric will be so pleased!

Lucina and Oriana have a girl talk about men – again, the way they just talk about sex up front is very refreshing and so un-telenovela like.
Lucina says that she did sleep with a lot of men, but she liked all of them. The question is: does Oriana still like JL? Well, she used to love him back in Colombia, Oriana starts.
Yes, but now she loves Ric, right? So she won’t be able to be with JL (no matter how totally hot he is – me thinks). So Lucina has an idea: Oriana should accept to go back to JL, but on her own terms: no nookie nookie before she has the documents that prove her innocence. And after that, she can just ask for a divorce.
Oriana thinks that would be dishonest, Lucina reminds her how much JL lied to her already, with the account and sleeping with Raquel. Oriana doesn’t care about Raquel because she doesn’t care about JL in general – this prompts Lucina to insist with the divorce some more.

At the plant, Ricardo is telling Piero that JL won because Oriana will go back to him to solve her problems. He plans to go to San Carlos to talk to Manolo about the two guns. His secretary lets him know that Lila came to see him, but Ric is in no mood to receive her, so he asks Piero to go instead. He will talk with Manrique, though, the lawyer has arrived, too.

Visiting Paloma with the everyday apple, Maddy tries to find out what happened the other day, with all those people in her room and then Ines and Lina leaving with Tito, but without the car. Is Ines by any chance returning to her husband?
Paloma doesn’t say much, Maddy insists that she needs to know what is going on with the family. So, Paloma asks her to go, and the nurse, too, because all the insistence will harm her patient. Maddy leaves, tail between her legs and the nurse promises not to allow her in again.

With Manrique, Ric explains that he found out he’s not Seb’s father, but he already took a DNA test. He doesn’t have the result yet, and he doesn’t have Seb’s DNA, either, to compare it against. Manrique offers to have one of his assistants steal some DNA, by getting inside Seb’s house. Ric isn’t sure about it, he doesn’t want Seb to lose the money his mom left him. Manrique is fine with it, but he thinks they should have the test ready, just in case they might need it some day.

Lila is telling Piero that she’ll attack Gabe’s will, even if it won’t bring her too much money. She also wants to know where Benigno lives. When Piero refuses to give her an answer, she calls Berto to ask him.
When they meet, later on, she says that she wants to convince Benigno to declare that Ric is Seb’s father, not his brother (again, this news is so 2 weeks ago;Lila, get your facts straight!). Berto tells her what everybody else already knows, that Benigno spilled the beans on Ric a long time ago. So Lila decides she should talk to Maddy (??) about the shares…. I guess she doesn’t know Maddy all that well. I can’t wait to see that talk.

Oriana goes to pick up Alina from school. JL is also there, tells Alina about the new house and of course she wants to go to see it. Oriana reluctantly agrees.
Alina is very pleased with the house, the pool, etc…, she can’t wait to move in. Oriana asks for two more days, she has to say goodbye to Lucina and Paloma first. JL wants to buy her a car, so she doesn’t have to use the old truck Lucina gave her, but Oriana refuses.
Alina is sad to see her parents fight and asks her dad if she’ll fight with her future husband, too. David Oliveira has a pair of gorgeous green eyes, which soften as he tells his daughter… another manipulative lie: his mom thinks so badly of him because Ricardo told her a lot of lies.

Visiting Ric at the plant, Lucina explains her plan: she wants the two guns so she can take them to San Carlos and explain to Manolo all they know about the shooting. They have a very close relationship, she’s sure Manolo will believe her. Ric thinks he should go with her, too, Gabe was his father, and maybe his influence might help. Lucina insists that she has to approach Manolo alone, they have a close connection, they are very friendly and she’s afraid that Ric’s presence might make things difficult. All right then, Ric will drop by Casa Bonita tomorrow with the two guns. Should they tell Oriana about their plan? Lucina thinks not, she’ll ask them not to do anything and they absolutely have to do something because the mess is getting messier every day.

As night comes Padre Mariano visits Oriana to ask if she wanted to talk to him about something else in the morning when she came by and Ric was there, too. Yes, she did. Even if she gets back together with JL, she still needs to get a job and she wonders if Mariano could help her with that, since he knows so many people. Padre promises to ask around, but is she sure she wants to get back together with JL? Well, she has to, for her freedom and for her daughter, too.
That’s when Alina shows up and Padre leaves. Alina says she doesn’t like their room or the hotel, she wants to go live with her dad in the house with the pool and the garden. Oriana reminds her that in Colombia they had no pool or garden and they were still very happy. With Paloma they were a little spoiled, having a driver and servants, but their lives are about to change. After Alina leaves, Padre calls to remind Oriana to go visit Paloma, who is waiting for her.

Then Padre also calls Ric, to tell him that Paloma is very worried because she thinks Ric plans to abandon Oriana. So, is this what he’ll do?
Ric is sure Oriana will go back to JL. He won’t abandon her, but Paloma needs to understand that Oriana and her husband being together might be unavoidable.
Padre insists that Ric needs to do more to reassure Paloma that he’ll be there for Oriana. But Ric is getting tired of begging Oriana (Yes, Ric, show some spine!), he has no idea what more he can do about the whole situation.
That must mean that he already abandoned her, Padre thinks and they end the talk with a fight.
As Ric leaves his home, Berto is following him from the car.

Arriving at Paloma’s, Oriana finds out that Ric is already there. She meets Fabiola in the living room and chats about her leaving the house. Fabi feels the house is empty without her and Lina, especially now that her dad and brother are gone, too. She feels very alone and yes, that’s why she hooked up with Seb. When Oriana asks if they ever had an intimate relationship, Fabiola has to say yes – but she hates him now. The problem is they didn’t use protection, which Oriana thinks was very bad. Yes, it was, but Fabiola didn’t dare to ask Seb about it and he didn’t say anything… Ugh…
Oriana hopes everything will turn out ok…
If Fabiola is pregnant and Seb is Piero’s son, will Piero want to raise his grandson to make up for lost time? Will he get romantically involved with Fabiola, too??? That would be too much, I believe, especially for a tn which has kept thinks as realistic as possible so far.

Ric is with Paloma, he promises her that he hasn’t abandoned Oriana, but he can’t stop her from going back to JL, either. He’s worried, though, because they got into a fight and JL is a very violent man.
Paloma is still calling Oriana and Alina by their fake names, because nobody has to know the truth, she wants the girls back in the house and for things to be as before.

As Fabiola makes Oriana promise not to say anything to Maddy about her love problems, Ric walks in. He and Oriana briefly talk about fabi, but Oriana says nothing about what she just found out.

At Ric’s bungalow, Berto manages to sneak in, wearing a mask. The butler is in the house, too, but he doesn’t see him and Berto attacks the older guy, hitting his head against the fridge door.
Should we get ready for a “Who killed the butler” mystery? Usually he’s the perpetrator…

Cynderella - Great recap. Your commentary on the no-shirts-ripped-off fight is hysterical.

Hmmm, even Padre Plaid wonders if Ricky really cares for Alina. Some folks just aren't that great with kids even if they do care, and I think Ricky is one of them.

Berto's attack on the butler was vicious and so unnecessary. He could've waited for him to exit. That was so hard to watch. The butler was a nice guy.

Lucina is one sharp cookie. Her no-nookie-plan for Oriana with JL works for me.

Oops, thanks Adriana Noel!

Well done, Adriana! I especially loved your take on the fight scene. LOL!

I really hope the butler is ok. Such a nice man. And I really hope Berto doesn’t find the guns. But the fridge is where they were hidden, right? And the fridge is currently open…

Ricky has a huge lesson to learn about love sometimes meaning sacrifices. It was brought up again, and again this episode. He doesn’t really understand what it is to be a parent, and to be willing to sacrifice your own happiness for your child. And he doesn’t really understand what it means to love a woman so much that you would sacrifice your own needs for hers. Oriana going back to JL shouldn’t stop him from being there for her, as a friend. That’s what Padre and Paloma meant by him abandoning her. He just doesn’t get it. I do understand him being freaked by the thought of Ori having sex with JL, but really, that’s the least of the worries when he comes to JL, and Ricky needs to get a grip.

I so wish Fabi had confided what really happened that second time with Sebas. I can’t believe the little sh*t is getting away with it!

I understand Ricky being freaked out about the possibility of Ori having sex with JL too. But does he really think that Oriana will hop into bed with JL just like that? Surely he understands she's not made that way.

Plus, why does Ricky have to go on about sex in front of Padre Plaid? The man's a priest, not a eunuch. Ricky needs to take that discussion to Piero instead.

Thank you Adriana. I think your title is so cute.

I don't think that Piero has designs on Fabiola. I think that he has concern since he is involved with discovering her after the rape, the fact that he could be Sebastian's father, and about having sex with Maria.

I can't believe that JL will win this one with Oriana moving in with him. She better not give him the satisfaction of acting like a normal married couple.

Will Berto find the guns in the fridge? I hope he never thinks to look there.

Niecie, I agree with Lucina's plan, too. Sometimes I think she's the only voice of reason in this tn - a good person, but with enough of a mischievalous side to keep us entertained.
Oh, and you're right about the sex talk. Especially since Ric knows how Mariano really feels about Oriana.

Vivi, I had forgotten about the guns being hidden in the fridge. The butler absolutely had to take a sip of whatever that was from the master's fridge, huh?
I agree with you about Ric being too self centered. His life has really been a walk in the park until now, it's enough to look at Seb and realize it - Ric thought for 18 years he was his dad, but he prefered to stay in the shadow, not take true responsability over the boy.
He has a lot to learn, still.

Granny is either NUTS or suffering w/ dementia. Granny, phone the cops! Sue for fraud! Don't let them get away with it!

And Phoniana, the loose woman? I won't use the "s" word, but she's giving contraceptive advice to a young gal who's been used and abused and should have listened to her mother! I sure as heck wouldn't listen to Phoniana. She teaches her own daughter to lie! And she keeps uprooting and unsettling that adorable little creature. No wonder she cries! What kind of example of motherhood is she. She apparently has made bad choices her entire life!

Thin lips, the galan, he's unhinged and absolutely cringeworthy. However, thin lips and thunder hips are made for each other; yet that little girl should be taken care of by her father who truly adores her.

Anyway, that's my two pesos.

Excellent as well as hilarious Cynderella.

Niecie, you pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Poor Ricky it's all about him and his wants and needs.

cathyx, he didn't even pull the trigger. My guess is still that for only that short a dunk that the pistol would have fired but now we'll never know.

Carlos

Thank you, Adriana. I loved your take on the fight, too. Chuck Norris LOL!

I especially appreciate your details because I was grading papers and watching at the same time and missed some things. (I just found out that uvideos is NOT blocked and I watched on my jumbotron SmartBoard...whee!)

I love Paloma so much. I want to be her granddaughter. She makes me miss my Grandma.

Thanks Adriana, awesome recap. The fight last night was really unnecessary. In the end it resolved nothing. I hope Raq feels terrible. The only thing she managed to accomplish was both men obsessing more about Oriana. what a bunch of juveniles. poor Fab, she needs help. She looks so tortured. Funny how mummy dearest is absent when she is really needed.
Paloma is simply the best. Heart of gold.

Hanna

Great recap Cynderella. I am so Spanish language challenged until I didn't realize that Berto's motive was looking for the guns when he happened upon the butler.

Sorry, I just don't understand Ricky getting so bent out of shape at the thought of Oriana having sex with JL. Over the past 5 or 6 years she's been there, done that and there's Alina to prove it. If she's going to move in with him for Lina's sake or for whatever reason the sex issue should remain personal and off limits to outsiders.

I feel so sad for Paloma. The relationship with Ines and Lina means the world to her. I hope Ines doesn't let her down.

Thank you, Adriana.

Pretty Ricky is a little too uptight to make me swoon. And I have to agree, he's been self-centered, too.

I'm still suffering from post-QBA fist fight overdose, so I didn't really care for the battle of the studs. The slow-mo saliva spraying out was very gross. Plus that wet tile looked slippery to me. I was waiting for one or the other to fall down without even being hit. And the fake rain for a fist fight doesn't do it for me anymore than fake rain for a love scene. Meh. I did rather like the end where the gun comes out of the pool, followed by a very pissed off JL. Now that everyone has seen that he has a gun and can be violent, it does increase concern for Oriana's safety if she does indeed go back to him.

I hope the bad guys don't get the guns. And I hope Cielo (the butler) isn't dead. I don't trust my Spanish very much and I do have an active imagination, but did anyone else think that he said he put the guns behind the fridge, not in it?

Sara, all the details kill me, these people talk so fast and it's not the usual "mi amor, por favor"/ "no puede ser"/ "no lo voy a permitir" litany - they say stuff that actually makes sense. I'm happy I could help you get all the facts, so many things happen each day, it's easy to miss something truly important.

Hanna, I thought the fight was a little theatrical, especially Ric pushing JL in the pool with his leg and all the slow mo saliva bursting or whatever those were. But then again, most tn fights look so fake, this wasn't so bad, after all.
I think the whole purpose of teh fight was for JL to pull his gun, so Ric can have another reason to worry about Oriana's phisical safety - which she made it abundandly clear she's not scared for.

Reality, Oriana doesn't know about the abuse; what else is she supposed to say: you shouldn't have had sex? It's a little too late for that. If Maddy had been such a good mom, her daughter would have known how to ask teh guy she was with to use a condom.
We definitely can't blame her for the abuse!!
I do love your description of Ric and Oriana - thin lips and thunder hips - it's very funny, even if you say it as it's a bad things (I do have to admit I really don't care for the thin lips, either)

Carolina, JL coming out of the water was awesome, I really want to see Diego Oliveira in a galan role after this tn.

Foxy, I think it's normal for Ric to be bothered by the idea that the woman he loves will be having sex with another man, but he's already sure that Oriana will actually agree to it. Like NIECIE said, maybe Oriana won't turn into a horny lunatic as soon as she and JL move in together.
I think Ric's main issue comes from his jealousy - he's jealous because JL, as evil as he is, he's still the HUSBAND, Alina's FATHER, his connection to Oriana could never be denied, etc...

Cathy, Piero might only be interested to help Fabiola for now, but he gives me a certain vibe... I hope I'm wrong.
I think Oriana will move in with JL for now, but the pace is rather fast, something has to happen fast to put a dent in his reunion plans.

Adriana-I know what you mean! I have the most trouble understanding business/legal stuff since that doesn't come up enough on TNs to be repititive (or at least I haven't watched enough of them.) I got the "'mi amor, por favor'/ 'no puede ser'/ 'no lo voy a permitir' litany"
down. ;-)

Does anyone know when the new Jaime Camil novela (Rosy Ocampo's new one) will start on Univision. Haven't been watching for awhile, but I want to make sure of catching this one at the start. Thanks all.

On the contrary, Adriana, this is Mexico, not the hedonistic United States of America where anything goes, where young women become no more than vessels for a man's pleasure. Chastity until marriage, amiga. (BTW, it's also a little late for the contraceptive advice, don't you think?)

I also want to remind all of you that Maltide was RIGHT to question her son's sudden desire to become a priest. Any good vocation director would have done the same. A mother knows, even if her motives weren't 100% pure. Matilde is NOT evil. She raised two great kids, two very innocent souls that have been corrupted before our very eyes. Frankly, I find that sad.

One other thing. What Catholic church has a cross without Christ hanging on it? And what Catholic priest wears plaid? IMHO, this TN was intended for an American audience, not a Mexican one. And, if I am going to be honest, all of these things bother me because I turn to TN's to see a set of values that are distinctly absent from most American TV. If this is a trend, I don't like it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qu%C3%A9_pobres_tan_ricos

Jaime Camil's new novela after Libre para amarte, which is after Porque el amor manda, so it will be awhile.

Will Corazon indomable EVER end?

Jazzee- Corazon Indomable ends in about three weeks, and Pobres Tan Ricos will replace it. Uni is skipping over Libre Para Amarte, which was a flop in Mexico.

Reality, I think Oriana was trying to tell Fabi that they SHOULD have used protection and she should be more carefull the next time.

I don't think Mexico is this pure land where girls are supposed to remain maidens until marriage; granted, I mostly know the country from tns, but have you seen how much non marital nookie is going around in these tns? And there is no question of the couple not being married or doing some awful sin, unless it comes from a very religious character.

Maddy did raise two good kids, but they sure lack a backbone and any kind of sexual knowledge, don't they? Cesar was almost raped by Raquel, Fabi was definitely raped by Seb - this is the 21st century, keeping the kids sheltered won't do them any good when they have to face life's harsh realities.

Variopinta, rumor has it CI ends in a couple of weeks, but I'm scared they might have some 100 more episodes ready just for us :)

Vivi, if Pobres tan ricos goes after CI, then it must mean they'll air Quiero amarte after Mentir, right? That's teh way they did it in Mexico.
I wonder about De que te quero, though, it's very popular in Mexico, but maybe they won't air it in the US, because none of the leads has the star power to pull it off.

Oh, and rumor has it that Silvia Navarro will have a new tn in 2014, possibly with Ivan Sanchez as a galan. How about that for a change?

Adriana- It's anyone's guess what Uni will do when Mentir ends. I suppose it depends on how the other tns perform in Mexico over the coming weeks. They have been making these decisions at the very last moment recently. I also hope it's Quiero Amarte, but I haven't really been paying attention to how that one is doing.

I saw that news about SN-- possibly to begin filming in the spring. She and Ivan S. have been touring doing an intense play the last month (Locos de Amor), so I think they would be great together in a tn. Unfortunately, her dad has been really sick, and it even caused them to postpone some of their earlier play dates, so that could influence SN's decision to hop into filming a new tn in the next months.

Vivi, Quiero Amarte is doing ok, not great, as far as I could see in their ratings. Right now De que te quiero te quiero is better rating wise.
I must confess I'm not really anticipating QA too much, Karyme Lozano does nothing for me and there are so many characters that will surely take away from mu precious CdlF screen time.
I knew about SN and IS doing a play together, but I had no idea her dad is sick - it would be understandable if she wanted to have more spare time to be with him.

Reality, EVERYONE in this TN said Cesar wasn't cut or for the priesthood and that he was doing it to run away from his mother-Oriana said it, Mariano, Ric, Ruben, paloma-everyone knew he was trying to escape, but they allowed it because he's a grown man who has the right to make a decision without his mother always directing his life. That's why all the prota characters supported him. He was finally making a decision for himself and it didn't work out. That is part of being a grown-up. He tried something on his own, he washed out. He'll move on. Parenting isn't just about being right and dictating-it's about empowering your offspring to make their own decisions when they are no longer at your side and allowing them to FAIL as well. Cesar didn't run off to go on tour with daddy yankee and the debauchery that entailed. He ran off to be a priest. I thought Catholics were honored when a child chose religous life? And even if Cesar wanted to live a debauched life, it would still be his business. He's not married and he was the only one out of his nuclear family who got up and went to work for a check every morning. Even in the Bible parable, the father let the prodigal son go away and experience life for himself. Matilde wasn't right at all re Cesar and she isn't right about Fabiola.

The reason why Fabi is in this dillemma now is that her mother didn't prepare her to tackle someone like Sebas. Fabi is obviously attracted and repelled by him b/c of the badboy element that her mother warned her but didn't PREPARE HER to deal with. As I've said numerous times, little Alina in Fabiola's sixteen year-old body wouldn't have believed Sebas' baby-I-love-you lies because Oriana has treated Lina has someone who can think and reason, not an object to control. Matilde and Ruben are bad parents because they didn't prepare their children to transition into adulthood. She prepared them to be puppets-notice that Cesar and Fabi are both attracted to variations of their mother in Sebas and Raquel-sexually and emotionally manipulative people? to

I just want to add that I don't blame Fabiola for her rape. I don't even blame Matilde for the rape. I blame Matilde and Ruben for rearing children with good morals but emotionally stunted and unprepared to think, act and reason for themselves. Cesar running away to the priesthood was the first step of trying to become a grown up. And fabi being allowed to leave the house was that step too, but it hasn't worked well for Fabi thus far because of how she has been reared by her parents.

I appreciate the thanks, but this pervy and lust filled recap was not written by me! Although I do agree that some shirts should have come off so we could have viewed wet muscles.

Thanks for the recap, Adrianna!

J, the only person who can be blamed for Fabiola's rape is the man who raped her.

J, I don't agree with the pop psychology analysis of either Caeser or Fabiola. I discerned for the priesthood so I know what I'm talking about. Reality check #1. It's a long process to get into a seminary. There are many interviews and a psychological analysis. A man has to have a regular prayer life and be an active participant in some ministry. The Mass has to be his life. #2 Caeser's sudden desire to enter a seminary would be a red flag to any vocation director. #3 Caesar was not fleeing from his mother but rather had a crisis of conscience after bedding bimbo. #4 The fact that he's left so soon after entering demonstrates a) he probably didn't have a vocation, and b) Matilde was RIGHT!

Who can ever be prepared for people like Sebastian? You really think it's Matilde's fault that Sebastian took advantage of her? No way, Josefina. Sorry.

Reality, the fact that you discount facts and not just my pop psychology opinions is telling. Matilde didn't have some special insight on her son. EVERYONE in this TN said Cesar was doing the seminary thing to get away from Matilde. Even Matilde said that. When she kicked him out the house and Cesar didn't run back home but stayed at the hotel, Matilde said to Ruben, 'He's doing this to hurt me. He knows my dream for him is for him to be a businessman instead he's just a middling/mediocre accountant.' When he was leaving Matilde told him, 'If you don't go, I'll stop telling you what to do. I'll make you make your own decisions.' The seminary thing was for him to finally make a decision on his own and Matilde knew it herself. Also, Matilde didn't reject the seminary because she knew Cesar didn't want to do it or have aptitude for it, but because she didn't want him around indigenous people with cholera and AIDS.
Matilde is admittedly a control freak who wants absolute control over her hubby, and her kids. She wasn't looking out for Cesar but herself. And Cesar was trying to get out from that control.
Raquel was the immediate cause, but Raq symbolized his mother too, an assertive person who was forcing him in one way or another to do things he didn't want to do.

I clarified before your respinse that i don't blame Matilde for the rape but Fabiola's sex and emotional education was severely lacking and allowed her to be attracted to Sebas. Sebas is a rapist but fabi is obviously attracted to him. Why? He's rude, manipulative, immature and controling just like her Mom. Plus, every woman on this board has said re Fabiola that the first time Sebas came to her with his baby-I-love-you-let's have sex on the first date-that obviously no one, especially her mother, told her that boys would manipulate gurls in that way for sex. That's why I blame Matilde. She never prepared her daughter
with the emotional tools to spot an obvious loser like Sebas. All she did was keep her in the house like a nun.

It's not a coincidence that these two emotiinally ill-prepared kids are sexually attracted to manipulative people like their mother, who, may I remind you, purposefully slept with Ruben knowing he was engaged to fidelia to get pregnant so Ruben would marry her instead of Fidelia. Both Fabiola and Cesar with their sex partners are replicating their parents' unfulfilling relationship.

Cynderella, "pervy and lust filled recap"? :)) Hahaha
Thank you! I do my best

It always amazes me how hard women are on other women. So Matilde is at fault for sleeping w/ Ruben? Ruben bears no responsibility? I suppose you blame Matilde for the inordinate amount of time he spends with the buxom hotelier, her low cut dresses and the too-familiar touching? And Matilde is responsible for all the golf he plays? And it was Matilde who is responsible for Caesar's sleeping the with bimbo, not a full-grown Ceaser? And Matilde for Fabiola's fall? Do you think girls born of feminist mothers wouldn't fall for Sebasitan's line of bull? What about a girl with a promiscuous mom (like thunder hips)? You think she'd be prepared for a smooth talking guapo? How about you at that age? You wouldn't have fallen for it? And yet you think Matilde is responsible?

If this is really what the writers of this show are trying to do -- making Matilde a one-dimentional cliche and finding a homely actress to boot (talk about your lookism) -- then obviously they watched too much Oprah.

The actress who plays Mati is not homely. She's actually quite lovely with a beautiful smile. I have seen her in many other tns. She is even more nicely dressed and coiffed in this role. It's this character's attitude that makes her look so ugly.

I'm finally getting around to catching up, so thank you Adriana for the recap!

I hope Celio is ok. He must have some awesome knife skills from all that sushi-making he does. Too bad Bumbling Berto caught him unawares.

@vivi: I know, right?! Leticia Perdigon is doing an amazing job! She's been the sweet, long-suffering mama in the last few things I've seen with her--La Fuerza del Destino and Al Diablo Con Los Guapos. She must be having a good time with this one.
