Monday – Part 1

Willy has come to see Inés in the hospital. She tells him that she doesn’t want anything to do with her baby. Willy has trouble believing that Inés could reject a child that she gave birth to. I guess he hasn’t appreciated before just how selfish Inés can be.

Tránsito has to tell the incredibly naïve Vicky what is going on at El Trebol de Oro. Women who are trying to cross the border get kidnapped, their passports are taken away and they are forced to work as prostitutes. She was once one of them but now has to work in management, as it were. Vicky protests that Tránsito was in charge of the operation when Patricio came on the scene. Then Tránsito has to tell Vicky that it was her brother Carlos who set up the whole operation. Vicky is impactada.

Now it is revealed that what had been hinted at pretty strongly before – Diabla is Alicia Cano, Santiago’s twin sister who supposedly died at birth. Diabla flashes back to being taken as a teenager, with eyepatch, to see the grave where Santi has been playing his sax and being told by the woman with her, whom we learn later is Mónica Perez, that this is how her real family has treated her. Diabla says that soon she and her twin brother will meet face to face.

Pancho and Cifuentes conclude that Santi is probably dead and they might never find his body and his family has to be notified. Pancho is going to do this – the Canos are practically family.

Vicky asks if Tránsito was in love with Carlos. She says that maybe she was but it was more that he controlled every aspect of her life. Vicky tells Tránsito that they have to report Patricio and save the girls.

Bayou lady is ready to bury Santi. She wonders how she got in this mess and will have a dead body buried next to her house. She hears a noise, turns around and Santi is croaking, “I’m not dead yet.. I’m getting better… I feel fine…” Bayou lady does not whack Santi on the head with a club [apologies to Monty Python and the Holy Grail]. She can’t believe that he’s alive. She obviously doesn’t know that even being beat up, shot and dumped in the river can’t kill the hero of the novela.

Inés tells Willy that she doesn’t want the baby because her father is dead and Santi has disappeared. Willy says that he hopes that Inés doesn’t think that he killed her father. Justice has been served. Santa is in prison for the crime. Then Inés drops the bombshell that Bert told her Santa didn’t do it. Willy draws the obvious conclusion – if Bert knows that Santa is innocent, that means that either he knows who killed Vicente or he killed Vicente himself. Willy tells Inés that he has to leave and Inés replies that he has to take care of the baby but Willy leaves anyway.

Monday – Part 2

A REAL lawyer (unlike Bert) trailed by a briefcase carrier (that is what we call the associate who accompanies the big-shot lawyer) comes to see Santa in prison. He is not from Marrero but from a big law firm that has offices in New York City and other places. He has reviewed the trial records and determined that there were serious irregularities in her sentence and tells Santa that she will be free in a few days. Santa asks who hired him – she doesn’t have any money.

Franco shows up at that Cano firm and finds Bert reporting the vandalism in his office to the police. Bert tells Franco that he thinks he knows who did it. Franco wants to talk about Santa. How was it that Bert defended Santa in her trial but she still was convicted? More importantly, what can they do to get her set free? Then Franco reveals that it was he who hired the big-shot law firm from NYC and Santa is going to be released in a few days. Bert asks why Franco is interested in Santa and Franco replies that he is interested in Santa for the same reason all the men are.

Yay!! The old Lucy is back. She is at Pancho’s house reading a wedding magazine. Fran comes in and Lucy invites her, using the familiar tú form, to sit down with her and help her choose a wedding dress. Fran is shocked, shocked that Lucy would “tutear” her. Lucy says that soon she will be the mistress of the house where Fran has taken refuge. Fran replies haughtily that they will only be at Pancho’s house for a few days. Whatever, says Lucy, why don’t you make us a cup of coffee just like I did for you a thousand times. Fran is horrified at the presumption.

Pancho comes in to give Fran the bad news that Santi is most probably dead. Fran says that now she is being paid back for what she did. Pancho asks what did she do but all Fran says is that it is she who should be dead (truer words were never spoken). Then Babs shows up and she gets the bad news about her brother.

George comes to see Diabla. He is not supposed to be seen with her but he can’t reach her by phone anymore. Diabla tells him that her phone activities have been curtailed since she got a cellmate – Santa. George is impactado. Diabla tells him that Santa is the missing piece to achieve her Plan of Vengeance since she hates the Canos as much as Diabla and George do.

Of course! Santi has amnesia. He can’t remember his name, etc.
Tránsito is horrified at the idea of reporting Patricio’s crimes to the authorities, even to an honest cop like Pancho. She says that Patricio would kill them all and based on Pancho’s performance as a police officer so far, she is probably right. Vicky changes the subject. She continues to have a lot of pain and feel weak. She thinks that she is going to die and would like Tránsito to bring Ivan to see her so that she can say goodbye to the only man she has ever loved. Tránsito makes a feeble attempt to reassure Vicky that she will get better but she is too afraid of Patricio seeing Ivan to bring him to the Trebol de Oro.

Ivan is dreaming of making love to Vicky but he wakes up in Daniela’s bedroom, which looks like it received the same treatment as Bert’s office. When Daniela wakes up, Ivan tells her that he made the mess searching for more drugs but didn’t find any. He tells her that her REAL rehab starts now.

Monday – Part 3

George advises Diabla not to trust Santa but Diabla replies that she is running the show. She contacted George and they have been working together because George knows that he can get more money out of Diabla than he could from her family. He brags on throwing the Canos out of their house but Diabla says that she knows George is a wastrel with a gambling problem and he’ll soon be broke again. What George really came to tell Diabla is that her sentence is almost up and she’ll be released from prison maybe this very day.

Bert asks Franco how long it took him to fall in love with Santa. Franco replies that with a woman like Santa you only have to look at her to fall in love. Then Bert gets a call from a hysterical Fran about Santi’s supposed death. Bert leaves and Franco gloats.

Diabla tells Santa that she has good news and bad news. The bad news is that Santa is going to be alone because Diabla is going to be released and the good news is that Santa will be the new Diabla of the prison. Santa is dubious but Diabla assures her that she is ready. She has the basics (one day of training?) and will find what she needs when it is necessary. Santa then asks Diabla what her story is.

Diabla tells Santa was born with an eye missing and this so horrified her birth mother that she sent her away, never gave her any affection and even had a fake grave made for her.

Arturo has a phone interview for a job so that the production doesn’t have to pay to have an actor and another set. He gets the job based on his experience with books. I didn’t get if they said what the job was. He’s happy.

Begoña is not happy to see Willy at her house. She says that whenever she sees him, she is reminded of the terrible things that happened in the past. Willy is more concerned with the present. He tells Begoña that Inés had her baby but doesn’t want the child and Willy is going to be responsible for the child. HE can’t be expected to take care of a baby so he needs Begoña to do that.

Bert tells Inés that Santi is dead.

Lisette wants Horti to pay her in cash and to get cracking on changing that will. She wants to see the document pronto. She leaves to go shopping (what else?) with the baby and Horti muses that accidents can happen to anyone. Lisette is going to die before she does.

Monday – Part 4

Tránsito is apparently able to leave the Trebol de Oro. She goes to see Elisa and tells her that she is going to visit Mara in prison. Tránsito apparently was in prison in the past and knows all the guards so she can bring things to a prisoner that a regular visitor can’t. Elisa says that the best thing Tránsito could bring Mara is a hug. She demonstrates on Tránsito saying that she can’t hug her daughter because the glass separates them.

Ivan shows Daniela a video of her convulsing on the floor and says that she will have to look at it again if she takes drugs again. He erases the contacts on her phone and hopes that she doesn’t know the number of her dealer by heart.

Bayou lady helps Santi to the bank of the river where she found him. He writhes around on the ground but the only thing he can remember is the shot and Franco saying that he is a dead man. (He was unconscious when that happened, but whatever.)

Elisa has given Tránsito a big of stuff to bring to Mara. Tránsito is not sure that even she can bring in that much stuff but Elisa says that the most important things are the photographs. Tránsito leaves. Lázaro comes in. Elisa rejects his kiss and Lázaro says that Elisa has to decide what she feels for him and whether they can have a relationship without hiding.

Pancho is heading to Ulises’ house and Lucy is following about 10 feet behind him. Meanwhile Franco is home. Ulises questions him again about what he does for a living. Is he an associate of Patrico? The doorbell rings, Ulises goes to answer it and it’s Pancho looking for comfort. He doesn’t have anywhere else to go. Franco curses the fact that a policeman has shown up. [Why can’t this powerful narco guy find another place to live? Where are his henchmen living? A Motel 6?]

George goes to Paula’s house and tells her not to mess in his business. She asks why he is getting telephone calls from someone named Mónica Pérez.

So finally we find out that Mónica Pérez was the woman that Fran gave baby Diabla to. She was the only person who gave Diabla any affection. Fran gave MP a bunch of money to take care of Diabla but MP put it in a bank account. MP died when Diabla was 14. She had to live with MP’s drunken husband who tried to rape her. She killed the husband and ended up in prison. Due to the power of compounding interest, the money that MP invested has greatly increased. Diabla is about to be released from prison. Santa assumes that she will seek out her siblings but Diabla says that she has another plan for them. [As far as we know, Diabla’s siblings are completely innocent of the wrong that was done to her so why they would be the target of the Plan of Vengeance is not clear. Diabla should be going after Fran.]

Jean, thanks for the SUPER recap. So may things happened, and you explained all sorts of things I was not clear about. Now it makes sense that the woman who lived in Monic'as house was her sister, because Monica was much older than Diabla (around Fran's age). You also had lots of great humorous asides.

I think the job Arturo has lined up is teaching children literature, maybe elementary school age.

Yes, of course Santi has amnesia!

I'm glad Vicky finally found out the truth about Carlos and Patricio.

So many people want revenge, this show is just wide open with possibilities at this point.

Jean, Thanks for the recap and the highly amusing asides.

Bert and Franco are going to bump heads over Santa, I believe. And then what happens when and if Franco gets a "critique" of Bert's "lawyering".

Thank God Vicky wised up and backed off needing to see Ivan one more time. Selfish? You think?

Santa,

wow, terrific recap Jean!
you covered so much and really filled me in on so many little things.

hmm, I was thinking Ines was originally infatuated with Santiago because he was so much like Willy, but now with her hating Willy... well I guess she is still married to Santiago, and I guess no one has done anything about Humberto/Amanda marriage, and well I guess Santa is still married to Willy anyway.

I wonder if some of Victoria's aches and pains are coming from sleeping on that lump in the bed made by the loaded gun, she sure is brave now that she is half dead and can't do anything.

it's amazing how everything about Willy seems so evil, (when he is a real lightweight in this town compared to everyone else), even the part of arranging to care for Ines' rejected nameless baby, of course it is his baby but really, what choice did he have in that, and why isn't Pancho tracking him down.

Diabla is starting to grow on me, it seems everyone in this story has an odd twist to their character, once you get to know them.

Tks Jean
And I thought Diabla got that eye patch in la cárcel, making her tough. Guess it was Francisca that started that, what a cold bitch. She & Hotensia MUST be related.

Actually, what has Will Sr. done except screw every female he can. Except Babs, she was too easy. He hasn't killed anyone, or tried to, drugged anyone, done illegal stuff, slavery, drugs, that we know of.

Santi, Franco, Will Sr., are all the same type, Franco being the más guapo, Santi last. We could have some more sangre familia.

I just love all of Humberto's controlled actions & looks. S y S stare, but seems like nothing is going on in there, just the director saying "action" looking at a dead body or watching TV, all the same look.

3 good novelas, Reina, Santa, & Mentir is pretty good too. Notice, none of them are Mejia, gracias a Dios.

SANTA, Martes, Part 1

Diabla is getting out of jail tomorrow, and Santa will be the new Diabla. In the prison yard, Diabla invites all the tough chicks to beat up Santa again, Diabla promises not to interfere. So here they come! But with her new training, Santa kicks, punches, spins, chops, and fairly soon we have about 5 gals down for the count, flat on the ground. Santa beams and glares, anyone else? Nobody will challenge her. Tell me you’re sorry, she screams. One of the victims says Sorry, Santa, but Santa says, I’m Diabla now! Oh, sorry, Diabla, the woman squeaks out. Santa’s face is proud, but icy.

After comforting Pancho about his troubles by gently touching his forearm, Ulises says Pancho, you can even stay here, we’ve got lots of rooms. But why don’t you meet the new guy, Rodrigo, he’s right in the kitchen. But we saw Rodrigo (Franco) get spooked at the idea of a cop staying there, and pulling out his gun just in case. By the time Pancho and Ulises get to the kitchen, no one is there. But a half eaten apple rests on the counter.

Later, back at the station, Pancho is visited by Bárbara, who tells him that her brother Santiago was mixed up with some rough people, like that guy Sebastián. She knows Sebastian and Santi were doing something bad, and that’s the last person she saw Santi with. So Sebastian could be involved with the murder. Barb knows where Sebastian has a mansion, and can give the address. Pancho is VERY interested in finding this guy.

Mara was aghast at the change in Santa, she’s not the same person she was. Now she’s cold and cruel. Back inside, Mara gets a visitor. It’s Tránsito, who apparently has so much pull, she can meet with Mara in the rec room, rather than talk through the glass. She gives Mara a bag of things, including pictures and a teddy bear. And she also gives her a big hug, a present from Elisa.

Elisa is still trying not to get involved with Lázaro. But he’s loving and firm. He says they have nothing to be ashamed of. Mara never loved him, so they wouldn’t be betraying her. He says what really matters is this. Do you love me? Elisa looks down, quietly says yes. Laz smiles, says and I love you more than anything in this world. If things continue, one day we could even get married. Elisa blinks. Are you asking to become my next husband? That might just be asking for another divorce. Lázaro doesn’t bat an eye, replies that he hasn’t asked for marriage yet. But he’s not going away.

Mara also receives another visitor in jail, this one IS through the glass, it’s Arturo. He happily tells her he has a new job, as a school librarian, and he’ll save up enough money to get her out someday. Mara says don’t waste your time with that. We both know the real culprit was YOUR MOTHER, who poisoned those people. Are you willing to be on my side, and go against your own mother? Arturo hesitates....

SANTA, Part 2

Frontier lady is happy that Santi has recovered somewhat. She offers him some liquor, it helps her to forget, maybe it’ll help HIM to REMEMBER! She’s going to go to the local police station and give them his description, maybe someone knows who he is.

Inés has totally ignored her responsibilities as a mother, told Willy to take care of the baby. When Bert tells her that Santiago is dead, he’s more upset than she is. She says I thought you hated him. Bert says, he was my BROTHER.

Bert goes to visit the grave of Vicente, talking to the grave, he says, YOU must have killed Santiago, you bastard! A little ways off, in the same graveyard, we see Francisca at the grave of Alicia Cano, saying to it, YOU must have killed Santiago. I know you’re still alive, somewhere! Bert sees his Mom, wonders what she’s doing, she just lies and says she’s paying her respects to Santi’s dead twin. In jail, we see Diabla (Alicia) flashing back to when she was about 8, with Mónica Pérez, being shown her own grave, complaining that her mother hated her from birth because she had only one eye, while her mother loved Santiago.

Begoña is going to leave town. There’s nothing left for her. She tells Paula and Willy. Willy begs her to stay, who’s going to take care of the (still unnamed) baby? And who’s going to take care of willy??? Begoña doesn’t care. She’s leaving. That is, until that young lawyer shows up, and says Santa’s getting released in a few days! He won’t reveal who’s paying him (Franco), but get ready to have your daughter back, he tells Begoña, who is now STAYING.

Santa gets another visitor at the jail, it’s Inés! Santa doesn’t feel like talking, but Inés let’s out the bomb that Santiago is DEAD! And you’re all alone. Santa staggers back to her cell, tells Diabla, who is also shocked, but hides it. In fact, we see her shed a tear (and that’s when she has that flashback I mentioned above, when she was 8). But who told you? Santa says it was Santiago’s wife. Oh, Inés, replies Diabla. Wait a minute, I never told you about her. Oh sure you did, lies Diabla. But are you going to cry? No, Santa is NOT. She’s learned to control her emotions. Pain does not exist. She’s like a slab of stone, unmoved.

Diabla gets released, all the girls give her a cheer, she meets with George. She tells him that with Santiago dead, that’s one less person to get revenge on, but let’s start with the rest. And take me to the bank, now! George had earlier told Barb that from now on, she’ll be the new servant in the mansion!!! This should be fun.

Pancho is fed up with all these mysteries. He goes to Willy’s house, and throws water on their party about Santa getting out, they’re all taking care of the new baby, etc., by telling Willy, you’re coming with me, and I want ANSWERS!

And so does Inés. Not a dummy by any means, she asks Sifuentes where Santi was last seen. She goes to the lake, runs into the frontier lady, and says she was searching for a man who disappeared around here. Oh, the lady says, maybe it’s the guy who got shot, who’s back in my cabin. All he did was ask for someone named Santa. Inés, overjoyed, enters the cabin and greets Santi, but he doesn’t respond. What’s wrong with him? Frontier lady says he’s lost his memory. That’s okay, says quick-thinking Inés. I’m his wife. Honey, you remember me, right? I’m your wife. SANTA MARTINEZ!!!!!!!!

Santa

wow, thanks so much Hombre!

at the hospital where Humberto has come to give Ines the news on Santiago, she excuses herself, and is GONE. (Ines sure cleans up nice whenever she gets out of the hospital) She can't wait to give Santa the news, and when Santa tells Diabla, we see her cry with one eye.

interesting that Barbara is spilling what she knows about Sebastián Blanco to Pancho, (I think Pancho has been looking for this guy since the Vicente head dinner party), but Humberto overhears and wants in on it.

this slick lawyer from New York is sure making Humberto look like a dud, someone should get his card for Mara. Arturo was sure having second thoughts about replacing Mara in prison with his mother.

I was surprised when Pancho showed up at the Martinez mansion, but I think his only concern was the baby, and at the hospital, Begona, who has tagged along and is comforting the baby, she assures Pancho that the baby will be taken care of.

and wow, that Ines just never gives up, she really is obsessed/possessed, but I thought for sure her presence would have shocked Santiago's memory, especially since didn't he say he remembered Santa's face.

Great recap, Hombre! You got everything.

Geez, you wonder how much the police looked for Santi's body when Inés just runs right into Mountain/Frontier/Bayou lady in about 5 minutes of searching. I got the impression that Santi washed up far away from Marrero but obviously that's not the case.

What is Inés going to do with Santi? Chain him up in the basement of the cabaña?

In a real police department, they would get DNA from Franco's apple and maybe find out who he really is.

What happened to Lucy who was following Pancho?

The doctor told Pancho that Inés baby had problems, which I assumed to be medical problems but maybe these problems can be cured with affection, which is what Willy and Begoña were providing.

I bet Bert is really sad because he wanted to be the one to kill Santi. If he finds out Narcoguy did it i doubt he will care........

Santa

haha NovelaMan,

Humberto's probably also upset that he put Santa in prison to separate her from Santiago, and now that he is dead, he can't have her either. I'm surprised he hasn't gone to see her, I guess that's business as usual for one of his clients, I don't think he does appeals.

but Humberto does seem to have these stray feelings intertwined in his twisted way of thinking, that's what makes him so interesting.

(I really admired that in Catherine Siachoque in ¿Dónde está Elisa?, that her craziness had so many different layers).

btw, it looks like Santa Diabla will be bumped by late night futbol tomorrow, Thursday night, and new west coast times for the others.

SANTA, Miércoles, Part 1

A “shocking” episode! Inés has just told Santiago that she’s his wife, Santa Martinez. Santi looks befuddled. Bayou Lady says you got any proof? Whoops. Well, Inés does have a picture of her and Santi, see, we’re a married couple. Now let me take my poor hubby back to his family and our little baby. You got a picture of the baby? Whoops, again, she doesn’t. Stop prying into my business! Bayou Lady says okay, but I’m still going to the station to report that this man was picked up by one Santa Martinez, and we’ll see if it checks out. Hmmm. As Inés leaves, she notices a shotgun by the door. She takes Santi out to her sports car, parked just far enough away so no one could hear stuff. She tells him she lost her cell phone. Back to the cabin she goes. She tells the Lady she lost her cell phone. The Lady turns around, it’s not here. When she turns back, Inés has picked up the shotgun, and KILLS her with a shot in the stomach! I doubt the lady could survive that, even though she was Born on the Bayou.

Bert had walked in to Pancho’s office while Barb was telling him how dangerous Sebastian is. After Barb leaves, Pancho tells Bert that the guy’s real name is Franco Garcia Herrera, a dangerous druglord. And he’s going down, along with anyone who “has business with him”. Bert gulps.

Diabla/Alicia (from now on I’ll just call her Alicia) goes with George to the bank. She gives him some money for his recent expenses, promising a much bigger payoff later. Although he tells her the Cano family is broke, she doesn’t believe it, people like Humberto Cano always figure out a way to get back on top. George gives her all the dvd’s he’s been taking of the family. Amazingly, these go all the way back to when Alicia was about 14! Well, pretty far back, although George would have to have already met Barb to have these. We see Alicia, in an apartment which George got for her, watching the old tapes and weeping. She sees a young Francisca, a child Daniela, and a much younger Bárbara, all having tons of fun, as Fran says this is her whole family. Alicia, of course, was not invited.

In the jail, Mara runs into Santa, and tells her she can count on her, not because Santa’s the new Diabla, but because of their friendship. Back in her cell, Santa sees a loose brick, and finds the old Diabla’s cellphone and a little notebook inside. There’s also a picture of Fran! Santa hasn’t put two and two together yet, can’t figure out why Diabla would have this picture. She looks at the numbers in the phone, and they’re all GEORGE. So she calls. The phone rings, George sees it, Alicia says damn, I left my phone in the cell, but don’t answer it. They don’t. Back at the jail, the head guard shows up, hey Martinez, what are you doing with a cell phone? Santa says I’m keeping it, I don’t care what you say. The guard disagrees, we have rules here. Several other big tough lady guards come in, and although Santa at first is able to knock a few down, eventually they overpower her. But she DID break the head guard’s nose! That guard puts Santa in solitary.

She then tells her fellow guards, we’re going to teach that bitch a lesson. Let’s put drugs in her food, and when she’s out, we’ll break every bone in her body! However, this is overheard by MARA.

Santa, Part 2

Inés takes Santiago to (I think) the cabaña! Yes, Jean may be right, she could imprison him in that same basement. Santi can’t understand how they just moved there, and by the way, where’s the baby?

Franco tells Pat, how could you let that cop, the chief of police, live here? Why didn’t you tell me he and Ulises were friends? Pat didn’t know. Franco tells him to use Ulises to get info about Pancho, and then, when Franco gives the word, do away with him (Ulises). But not yet.

While Pancho is in the middle of his investigation, Lucy pops in, followed by Padre Milton. She happily announces the wedding is next week! The Padre tells Pancho they have to have some meetings, to learn the religious duties, etc., and he’ll be happy to speed things up. Pancho looks as if he swallowed a cow.

Arturo visits Horti, and tells her, Mom, you’re the one who poisoned those customers, and got Mara in jail, right? Confess! Horti huffs, gets on her high horse, and won’t admit it, although after a bit of an argument, Art is pretty much convinced Horti DID do it. She says remember how I brought you up, what about the bible, Honor thy father and mother! He comes right back, Thou shalt not KILL! He leaves. She shakes from the pain of her illness. When Lisette shows up, Horti’s unconscious on the floor! You can’t die yet! You haven’t changed the WILL! She calls for Petra. Art and Padre Milton arrive. As Horti is rushed to the hospital, Lisette berates the Padre. You KNEW she was sick! And you didn’t tell us, her family! I don’t want to HEAR about your sacred seal of confession! Tell us what she has, NOW!

Part 3

Mara tries to get word to Santa of the plot against her, but is prevented from going to the restricted cell area. When Tránsito visits again, she begs Tran to get help. Tránsito tells Begoña, Paula and Willy. Willy, meanwhile has turned out to be very caring about his little baby, and has spent the whole day in the hospital with Begoña and his little daughter, learning how to care for her. But how can they help Santa? Paula says there’s only one person to call, as upsetting as it is. Bert.

Meanwhile, the guard pushes some (drugged) food through the door for Santa. Santa refuses to eat, she’s tough. But later, she starts getting hungry, telling herself she needs her strength to fight back. She starts to faint, and this time the new Santa DOES realize she’s been drugged, she fights it, I’ve got to stay awake.

Bert shows up in record time at the jail, demands to see Santa. The head guard, sporting a bandage on her nose, says no way, prisoners in solitary can’t have visitors. I’m not a visitor, I’m her lawyer. The guard says rules are rules. Bert says you don’t know who you’re dealing with, I’m one of the most powerful lawyers in this state! And what happened to your nose? Is some kind of payback going on? The guard remains calm and defiant, saying tough luck, buddy, you’ll need a court order. Bert says it’s on the way, I know all the judges, and if one hair is harmed on Santa’s head, YOU’LL end up in jail! I think he leaves to get the court order. Back in the cell area, the other guards hear Santa yelling she’s been drugged, banging her tray against the door. What do we do? Head guard says keep everyone away from the area. She then enters, sees Santa, just about to lose consciousness. She pulls out a taser, its blue electric charge crackling. Telling Santa that no one messes with her, she proceeds to brazenly buzz our beauty, over and over again. BZZZZZTTT!

Wow, what an episode. Thanks for the super recap, Hombre.

I can't believe Inés killed Bayou lady!! Pancho did send the incompetent police out again to find Santi's body. If they find Bayou lady, they are probably going to assume that Santi shot her.

The only way Inés is going to keep up this charade with Santi is to keep him away from everyone in Marrero. I think the basement of the cabaña is a definite possibility.

George certainly did start videoing his family a long time ago - presumably before he was contacted by Alicia.

Babs refused to help Pancho catch Franco. She did it out of selfishness but it was probably a good decision considering how incompetently Pancho handled Santi's work for him.

Poor Santa. She just doesn't get a break. I hope Bert gets the court order soon or Big-Shot New York lawyer gets Santa out of the prison. It wasn't very smart of Santa to use the phone without any attempt at concealment.

I suppose now that Lisette has her deal with Horti she isn't going to clue Arturo in on Horti's overheard confession.

Estupida Santa, why would start a battle you have no hope of winning.

I hope Bayou lady isn't dead, she wasn't shot in the heart. She might say Santa Martinez did it & SM is in jail, so can't be her.

You guys may hate Patricio, but i like Roberto Mateos in this better than the crappy role he had in in EL ROSTRO.

No, NovelaMan, I don't like Patricio and enjoyed watching him squirm a little when Franco was jumping on him about why Pancho was staying at the house.

Hi All Recapping now!

Santa Diabla Capitulo #84

Part 1

The capitulo opens with Evil Guard tasering Santa while Santa has visions dancing in her head. Barbara badgers her and Diabla directs denial of discomfort. Post-taser, the Evil Guard sneaks strong sedatives in Santa’s system. Santa hallucinates that Santi is there and the pair consider a pact to travel to the next world juntitos. Santa jolts herself awake and resists death for the sake of her hijo.

George pays a visit to Diabla. She orders him to find her food and charm school. To further her case she grabs a slice of pizza, sits as if she is just one of the guys and smacks her lips as she talks and eats. Bring me Professor Higgins or a reasonable facsimile from an ad in the paper, or whatever! George agrees and then asks Diabla why she doesn’t wish to use a napkin? He really did.

Pat stands and studies Ulyses. He asks Ulyses about his friendship with chief of police Pancho. Ulyses tells Pat to remember Uly still owns the house, bug out of his biz, and that Uly is not afraid of Pat. Pat mutters that Uly should be afraid of him. Anvil alert?

Padre tells Lisette and Art that Horti has lupus. Horti has just had a heart attack. Lisette’s brain bulb dims a little as she insists that there is a cure. Art explains that there is no cure and that lupus continues on a very unpredictable course.

Princess Ines considers where to pick up a spare bebe in order to keep the “happy family with Santi” lie going. She pays a visit to the NICU where the naïve nurse leaves Willy’s bebe unattended. Ines busies herself kidnapping the bebe. NICU tries to stop her, explaining that the bebe needs medical support. Princess Ines is unmoved. More medical reinforcements arrive and the kidnap plan seems to have been thwarted. This time.

Meanwhile, back at the happy family house, Santi tosses and turns and has visions of gunshots bouncing in his head. He awakens and calls for Santa (the real one). Frantic and frustrated he decides to toss the house for clues. He rifles through all sorts of papers in drawers and it is all for naught. Ines returns, dragging a bright pink suitcase, and asks what has been going on as she eyes the mess. Santi explains he has been looking for clues to tickle his memory. Princess Ines assures Santi that she has something that will make him very happy. She pulls out their wedding photos to “prove” the lies she is feeding Santi to boost his faltering memories.

Back at the prison, Sir Bert arrives with the judge’s order to allow him to see his client. Now. Evil Guard gulps and is shocked to see that Sir Bert really does have friends in high places. He is shown to her cell and finds her barely alive. He orders the guard to call for help. Santa asks for Santi. Nope, Sir Bert says, I am not Santi, just a poor bastard that destroyed what he loved and who is willing to go to hell for her. Outside and around the corner, Guard 2 tells Evil Guard she is in a lot of trouble now that Santa has some powerful guardian angel lawyer on her side. Viewerville wonders what happened to the powerful and expensive New York lawyer that is supposed to be her salvation? No expensive suit will stop one of NarcoGuy’s rash shoot-up of someone who disappoints him!

Part 2

At the same TN hospital, different room, different floor, Art pays a visit to Horti to beg her forgiveness. He said some mean things to mummy and this made her sick, he believes. Viewerville rolls its collective eyes at Art as he remains the half-baked adult where his mummy is concerned. Horti admits she kept her sickness a secret so she could work at gaining Art’s love. WTQ? Art sobs at the bedside. Outside Horti’s room Lisette, in mememememe mode, wonders if Horti will have completed the changes to the will before she dies. As she worries, her one-time ally and apparently today’s irritation, Elisa arrives. Pancho is not far behind her. Everyone convenes by Horti’s bedside as she takes her final breaths: Elisa, Padre, Art, Pancho, Lisette….. The BIG question everyone is waiting for an answer to hangs in the air. Did you, Horti, put the poison in the food at Mara’s café?? Not before snipping at Lisette that she is not afraid of her threats anymore, she admits that she is the one who did the crime that has Mara in jail unjustly. Yes, I did it! Lisette has a tantrum that her blackmail has failed, the rest of the crowd in the room sighs and cries in relief at Mara’s inevitable release from prison. This being TN, inevitable is used conditionally.

Back as said prison, Santa appears to have been drugged and Sir Bert is not leaving her side. He calls the Santa homestead to report to Begona, Paula and Willy that Santa is out of danger, for now. Sir Bert returns to wait by Santa’s side. Paula takes the time to muse that Sir Bert must really be head over heels over to have done all this for her. TN rule of love say that just because you imprison someone, doesn’t mean you aren’t still crazy about them.

Back in town, Diabla spies on the Robledo house and sees Fran, looking spiffy, departing somewhere on foot. Minutes later, the doorbell at George’s place rings. Barbara answers to the visitor – that is, Diabla. They look into each other’s eyes. Barbara wonders if she knows Diabla from somewhere and Diabla comments on Barbara’s beauty. George sees the visitor and hustles Diabla in asking what she is doing coming to the former Cano house. Diabla’s tough façade fades as she is obsessed with Barbara’s beauty and her own rejection by her mother for this same reason. She comments that Barb is prettier in person - that she is a princess. Diabla asks George if there is any news about Santi. Nope. The lapse in the tough façade snaps back into place quickly as Diabla finds a reason to put George in his place, again.

Our story diverts momentarily for a scene with Transito and Vicky at the doctor ‘s office. The doctor is still stalling on reporting Vicky’s diagnosis.

Part 3

Back in the prison infirmary, Santa awakens to find Sir Bert asleep at her bedside. He awakens and they share some awkward moments. Sir Bert wonders why Santa calls herself Diabla? He asks who did this to Santa? The evil guard as revenge? Outside the infirmary, the Evil Guard worries about Sir Bert’s influence. Sir Bert confirms her fear as he departs and admonishes Evil Guard that there best not be a single scratch on Santa from this moment forward. A freshly recovered Santa, back in her cell now, has a visit from Mara. Mara is her next roommate. She tells Santa what she overheard - the guard’s plan to drug and taser her – and how she got the news to Bert via Transito. Mara reports that it is Sir Bert who saved her and that she owes Sir Bert her life. Santa considers this news.

Over at Santa homestead, Bert arrives to report that all is as well as it could be at the prison with Santa. Willy decides to question Bert as to how he is so sure that Santa did not kill Vicente. Conveniently, Bert’s phone rings. It is Ines. She reports that Santi is ALIVE and with her. Bert needs to get over to where she is, pronto. It is their only chance to plot to keep Santi and Santa apart, forever and ever. Close-up of Bert shows the light bulbs flashing. What to do?

Viewerville is left with the voice over that says that the next steps in the path will determine the future of everyone. Stay tuned!

Here you go SD viewerville. Enjoy.

Thanks, Mena, for a great recap. I really liked "Lisette in mememememememe mode."

Who do we think might end up as Alicia's Professor Higgins. Babs would be the logical choice but it's hard to see her be willing to do something like that.

Horti is getting off waaay too easy. I hope she gasps out that she was responsible for Arturo's accident, too, before she croaks and we find out whether the mystery inheritor is Ivan or not.

Patricio must be completely occupied paling around with Franco because Tránsito has been out and about - to the prison, to the doctor with Vicky...

It's hard to imagine how Bert is going to be able to help Inés with the Santi problem.

Tks Mena
As far as Babs helping Alicia, Babs only thinks of herself, so I can't see her going out of her way for anyone. Maybe George will make it worth her while.

I forgot to add that when Santiago was looking at the wedding photos he saw a photo of the real Santa. He pauses, remembers a vision he had of her. He asks Ines who she is..... Ines' face clouds over as she considers hoe to answer that question.

Maybe George will hire Lisette - she will be needing a job soon.

Thanks, Mena, another wonderful recap!

In the short run, Bert can help Ines by backing up her story. But that won't work forever. And we know Santi will gradually get his memory back anyway.

Alicia is already looking better than she did in prison, where they had her hair frizzy, no makeup, etc.

Pancho and the Marrero legal system sure had a dismal record solving murders, and putting people in jail. Let's see, Santa was jailed earlier for killing that chauffeur/assassin. Then she was released. Santiago was jailed for fake passports. He was released. Ivan was convicted of murdering Carlos and jailed. Released. Mara was convicted and jailed for poisoning a customer. She'll be released. And of course, Santa herself will probably be released soon, if that hot shot lawyer was right. So, five people convicted of or imprisoned for murder, all not guilty. And except for Horti's confession, the police solved ZERO of the crimes! Not to mention they don't know about the trafficking in women taking place right under their noses. It's amazing Pancho isn't even MORE upset, given his abysmal record.

But maybe things will improve for him. I hope so.

Where can I get Franco Garcia's Shirts

This novela got ruined lately by the turn of events.. I mean come on! Santiago is the evil of the story? That's BS.. And Humberto is the "angel" trying to save Santa? Oh wait and now she's in love with the evil man that is a murderer and have deals with drugdealers oh and killed a couple people already? If the purpose is that the end of the story makes Humberto look like a really good man... Then.. Too late
