Mentir Para Vivir #56 Wed 12/25/13 Feliz Navidad! There is no comfort and joy for Paloma’s family tonight.

No Hay Noche de Paz en la Casa de Paloma
Fabi announces she plans to marry Piero.  Matilde quickly asks about his family connections.  Paloma sarcastically says he's from the Windsor family and Matilde doesn't pick up on the joke.  When it's made clear to her, she's angry with Paloma for making a joke at a time like this.  (I don't like Maddie but I have to agree with her here).  She insists on knowing about his family and what type of person he is (again, I agree).   Cesar stands up for Piero but she still asks how is she to know he isn’t just after the money Paloma will eventually leave Fabi.  (good point)  She's her mother and has a right to know.  Paloma is angry, saying what she's doing isn't just to find out information, she's just wasting time (enchinchar) and besides didn't she say she'd rather see her marry the first guy who crosses the street than to see her as an single mother?  Maddie defends her actions, insisting that was just a figure of speech (first guy who crosses the street).  Of course she wouldn’t want just anyone to marry her daughter, much less an opportunist (vividor).  Paloma defends Piero, saying she's known him a long time and he's a good guy. Well, if he's such a good guy, asks Maddie, why doesn't he come himself to speak to her?  She insists they call him, now. Mariano (sans plaid shirt) suggests that Fabi and Piero have a discussion and decide what to do.  Ruben butts in too, saying that as the head of this family he should be the one speaking with Piero.  Maddie scoffs at him--saying he's nobody.  Paloma tells her to shut it and consider what she's done to her family.  Her husband and son have left the home because they can't stand her and now Fabi is prepared to marry the first guy who proposes just so she doesn't have to marry that ne'er do well, Seba!  Maddie insists this has to do with her family.  Mariano reminds her that a family doesn't consist of just one person.  A family involves a father, mother, and children.  Even if Maddies doesn't like it, Fabi has the final say in this case.  Whoa, now Maddie calls her own daughter a floosie (cualquiera). Ruben jumps in to defend his daughter. There's no reason for Maddie to insult their daughter in front of everyone.  Maddie insists she has every right, "I'm her mother!"  "And I'm her father" shouts Ruben.  M--"A father who ran out to go live with a whore (ramera)!  And I want a divorce!"R--"Suits me just fine!" Paloma steps in,"Fine, get a divorce, but stop arguing in front of everyone."  Mariano quietly suggests they each speak with Fabi and Piero separately.  Maddie insists she'll be the one talking to them.  Alina chooses the wrong moment to come in and say she and Tito are bored waiting in  the bedroom.  Maddie shouts at her for interrupting.  Oriana defends her daughter, telling Maddie this will be the last time she raises her voice to Alina, clear?  Maddie doesn't' respond but has a smug look on her face.  Ori takes Alina to the other room.  Paloma asks Cesar, Fabi, Ruben, and Mariano to join her in her bedroom.  She tells Matilde she can just to hell. Maddie whines that no one understands her -- she's the mother!  The scene ends with a close up of a Madonna-like painting of a woman with three babies.  (haha, they blurred out the bum of one of the babies)

In the courtyard, Ricky and Oriana talk as Alina and Tito frolic on the grass.  Ricky empathizes with Maddie.  She must have had a lot of pent up tension, spending all that time alone, not knowing anything about Fabi.  He admits he and Piero talked about Piero’s feelings for Fabi some time back and yes, he's old enough to be her father.  (Ricky swiftly sidesteps saying how old he is -- only that they're the same age) On to more pressing matters. Ori assures him she is not planning to return to JL  She only did it the last time at Alina's insistence and now Alina won't even look at him.  Ricky leaves to go see Maria.  Alina gives him a big hug and kisses – one for him and one for Tia Fidelia.

Paloma's Family Counseling
Fabi admits to Paloma she doesn't love Piero but she does have affection for him. Affection is a far cry from love, says Paloma.  Ruben shares his concern about the age difference.  Paloma asks Mariano to speak with Piero. She doesn't want Fabi to marry Piero just to avoid her mother's hysterias or because of social pressures.  She tells Fabi that neither she, nor her father or brother have a problem with her being a single mother.  Mariano suggests that Fabi and Piero take some time to know each other and then make a decision.  Cesar is in agreement and repeats Piero is a good guy.  Fabi is ok with this but is still worried about her mother. Paloma tells her not to worry about mom, she'll talk to Matilde and if she doesn't agree, she will ask her to leave her house, for sure this time.  She strongly suggests Ruben get that divorce.  Fabi gets a call from Leonardo but tells him she'll call him later.  This makes Paloma happy.

Police Station
Ricky meets with Teniente Carmelo and gives him a tall story about receiving a package containing a gun.  He assumes this is the gun that killed his fatyher.  He doesn't know why this was sent to him but didn't hesitate to bring it in since he knows it will be useful in the investigation.

Spies R Us
Homer continues his research.  He's discovered that Paloma's granddaughter married a Juan Valdivia in Tijuana. He wants to find Juan to determine if what Francisco Castro told him about Ines Valdivia is true.

Manolo's Office
Manolo calls Lucina, telling her she's not out of trouble just yet.  He wants to know if she's the one who mailed the gun to Ricky.  He assumed it was her because whoever did so would most likely be thinking it would exonerate Oriana from Gabriel's murder.  He wonders out loud if maybe Ricky might have had it in his possession all along.   Lucina is sure that Ricky would have turned it in long ago in order to help Oriana.  Manolo asks, "Oriana, or Ines, who, as it turns out, is one and the same."  Lucina warns him that she only gave him that information because they're friends.  Manolo swears he'll do everything possible to keep her out of trouble.  However, there is now a third party poking his nose around, gathering intel -  that guy, Homer de la Garza. If the ballistics prove that this gun was the same gun used to kill Gabriel and Berto, he and his cuz Carmelo are going to have to work together.  Manolo will then have to travel to Hermosillo.  He has a plan but will need Homer's ok before he can put it into play. He doesn't want to tell her about his plan yet but promises to keep in touch.

Casa de Paloma
Fabi calls Leonardo at his studio.  She tells him she was unable to talk earlier cuz there was some drama going on at her place, as always.  He'd like to see her and suggests coffee.  She invites him to her party.  He tells her he's there for her for whatever she needs. He sends her a kiss.  Fabi is obviously happy talking to him but she doesn't notice Momma Dragon eavesdropping.   She admits she wasn't speaking to Piero but to Lenoardo.  M--"Hmph, you want to marry one and yet you're flirting with another."  Fabi denies she was flirting. She explains Leo is the one who found Tito, took him to the vet, and looked after him until he was able to take him to Alina. M--"Oh yeah, I remember him. Cute guy who came looking for you the day that Seba gave us the news you were preggers.  Oh yeah, he knows about the pregnancy.  He and Seba almost came to blows.  Now don't go feeling that everyone desires (codiciada) you.  These boys who come around you only do so because they think you're easy.  They want to have a good time with you for a few months.  But when your tummy starts to grow they'll dump you (mandar a la goma).  Boy, that Maddie is a real Debbie Downer.

Seba’s Depa
Ricky appears at this door and Seba quickly reminds him he is not welcome here. Meh, Ricky doesn't need reminding.  He notices Seba's appearance and is informed he's employed now but Seba isn't ready to tell him where.  Seba asks about Fabi and Ricky informs him she doesn't want to marry him and tells Seba to stop pestering her about it.  Seba replies he couldn't care less what she thinks or says, she has to do it. She's expecting his child.  R--"Since when do you care about a child?" S--"Well, you see, I'm not like you!"  (Good one!)  Ricky reminds him his parents adopted him, giving him their name and all rights.  Ricky always tried to be a big brother to him.  Seba isn't impressed.  Ricky didn't come to discuss that.  He's intrigued by Seba's sudden interest in getting married.  Well, says Seba, he only wants to provide a decent life for Fabi and his child.  That's why he got a job -- again, he doesn't reveal who he's working for.  Ricky repeats Fabi doesn't want to marry him and Seba repeats it doesn't matter, she's gonna have to do it!  Ricky knows he doesn't love her.  He also knows Sabe practically raped her and treated her like a floosie.  Sabe replies that's because that's what she is - a whore.  But the company-who-shall-remain-nameless insisted he live a decent life.  He wonders, sarcastically, if Ricky knows what it is to live a decent life.  Ricky asks again about the name of the company and again Seba refuses to tell him.  Seba feels it would be in Fabi's best interest to marry him.  That is, unless the esteemed familia Aresti is prepared to have a single mother in their midst.  Ricky tells him there's another man interested in her - a decent man.  Sabe finds it hard to believe that since she's crazy about him.  Sabe assumes it's that guy that he almost came to blows with.  This is news to Ricky, who spits out Leo's name.  Sabe repeats that Fabi is expecting his child and he plans to recognize that child as his, unlike Ricky.  Ricky tells Sabe to give it up.  She won't marry him because she doesn't love him.  Ricky grabs him by the lapel and warns him not to go near her again.  Sabe tries to get the jump on Ricky but alas, he fails again.  He forgets all those hours Ricky has spent at the Holy Gym.  Ricky quickly dispatches him with a quick jab to the old breadbasket and Sabe ends up on the mattress conveniently placed in the middle of the living room. Sabe doubles over and swears he's gonna kill Ricky.  He manages to get up and calls JL, telling him he wants to kill Ricky.  He manages to explain that Fabi now has other suitors (pretendientes), very likely that Leo guy.  He has no idea what his surname is!  JL seems to be running out of patience with this fool and tells him to find out more about this Leo.

JL's Despacho
JL calls Antonio to see if he knows anything about this Leo guy who lives with an old man and travels around in an armored car (camioneta blindada).  Antonio figures he must be a highly placed government or company individual.  There aren't too many people who travel in that kind of vehicle in this area.  Even Ricardo doesn't travel in an armored car.  JL gives him the deets on the vehicle.  Antonio wonders if it might be someone involved in another cartel.  JL figures Joaquin would've told him.  JL must find out who this old guy is.

Holy Gym
Piero meets with Mariano. Mariano gets to the point of this meeting quickly.  He gives a brief breakdown of the family squabble and somewhere in all this Fabi mentioned Piero and his marriage proposal. Piero explains that he came across her a few times on his way home.  On one occasion, she confided that she was pregnant and that Sebastian treated her worse than a dog.  Mariano wonders if Piero offered marriage out of pity. Piero denies this.  He knows what Mariano is likely thinking-- that he's old enough to be her father, but he's not. Is he in love with her?  That's difficult to say.  You have to spend time with someone before you know for sure.  What he can say for certain is that he feels great affection for her and a need to protect her.  Mariano reminds him he's divorced. That was a different matter, says Piero.  He and Beatrice didn’t have a lot in common.  Mariano wonders if he has anything in common with Fabi.  Piero admits they need to get to know each other. She's an adolescent and he's a grown man.  But who's to say they can't be happy.  Mariano reminds him he'd have to accept another's child.  I liked Piero's response: "It's not another's child -- it's her child."  Mariano advises him Fabi announced in front of her whole family that she wants to marry him, Piero.  He warns him this may just be a way of escape for her.  Between marrying Seba or marrying Piero, it's understandable she would choose Piero.  Piero understands but he's not worried.  He'll win her over and make her love him.  He asks Mariano not to be so pessimistic and at least let him try.  Mariano agrees but strongly suggests he take it slow.  Give her time to make a decision.  Her birthday is the day after tomorrow and it's assumed Piero's invited but he shouldn't pressure her.

Paloma's Bedroom
Paloma and Oriana are discussing the Piero/Fabi marriage.  Oriana isn’t sure about this match.  He is divorced after all.  She quickly admits this doesn't really bother her that much.  Paloma shares that Piero suffered much with his first wife because as it turns out, she was very much like Matilde.  They giggle at this and when Matilde pokes her head in, Oriana quickly leaves without so much as a word to Maddie.  Paloma has called her in to tell her that the insults and scorns (menosprecios) must stop.  Actually, she tells Matilde to stop all communication with her daughter from this point forward.  Matilde objects, saying she's her mother.  Paloma doesn't agree her behavior is acceptable for a mother.  Instead of comforting her or consoling her, all she does is insult her and Paloma will no longer tolerate it.  Fabi will decide how she will handle things.  Matilde understandably objects, saying Fabi is too young to know what to do.  Matilde should be there to guide her.  Besides, people will gossip (murmurar=gossip/whisper).  Paloma says people would have gossiped about Matilde, or has she forgotten how she went after Ruben when he was dating Fidelia and ended up pregnant (gasp!).  She ended up losing that baby (aw) but her family stood by her and no one ever new.  And Ruben did come through for her and married her because he's a caballero!  Matilde points out that Sebastian has also showed himself to be a caballero, insisting that Fabi marry him (ay, ay, ay, Maddie).  Paloma wonders if anyone knows what Saba's true intentions are.  He's a vago (idler), shameless (sinverguenza), desobligado (irresponsible). Furthermore, Fabiola doesn't love him and Paloma doesn't approve.  Paloma continues over Maddie objections, "no ifs, ands, or buts.  this is my house and I make the rules.  Anyone doesn't like it, they can leave.  If you continue with your rudeness, I'll send Fabiola to live with Fidelia.  They get along very well."  "Over my dead body!" shouts Matilde, bells a-jingling.

Hospital
Ricky is walking down the hall when a ghostly apparition appears behind him.  No, it's not the ghost of Christmas past.  The doctor finds him and tells him he's just in time.  Maria is out of the coma now but her organs have been damaged and there isn't much time left.

They reach her room ad doc tells him her heart can't take too much.  He leaves them alone to talk.  Once alone, the ghostly apparition appears again just outside the window to Maria's room.  Ricky senses this but doesn't see it.  Maria wakes up and calls him her prince.  She asks for Seba and he tells her he's abroad on company business. She's happy just with him.  He's always been her prince and she his princess.  She asks him for a kiss and he obliges by kissing her on the temple.  She laughs and giggles and then passes on.  So sad.

Benigno's
Ricky arrive as Benny and his golfa gf watch TV.  He tells them Maria has just passed away and she will be cremated later today.  GF starts spinning a story how she was just telling him they should go take the poor thing some flowers.  Benny worries they'll make him pay for her funeral.  Ricky tells him not to bother.  He never bothered with her during her lifetime, and he won't have to bother now.  Ricky will take care of everything.  Oh brother, Benigno is a bit bothered by Ricky's attitude and eventually asks if Ricky is going to stop giving him the money he's been giving him throughout Maria's lifetime. Ricky tells him a thing or two.  Bottom line:  no more money.  Benny has the nerve to threaten him with another scandal. He doesn't care what the DNA says.  Ricky abused his underage, mentally deficient daughter and later put her in a psych ward so no one would know about her.  Ricky doesn't care.  He leaves with the gf trailing after him, begging him to reconsider.  After he leaves, Benigno tells his lovely gf (gag) that he plans to go back to the same reporter he worked with before and make an announcement.  yawn, whatever, I hope we're done with this scumbag.

Bungalo Azul
Ricky calls Ori to tell her about Maria.  She asks if he wants her to come by.  He'd rather be alone but he'll meet her tomorrow at the church.  He next calls Sebastian who says he doesn't care.  Through tears, he lashes out at Ricky, asking how could he expect him to feel anything for a woman who was nothing but a crazy person to him.  Someone he didn’t even know about, thanks to Ricky and his parents.  They’re at fault if he never came to have feelings for her so Ricky shouldn’t come to him with his reproaches.

Trejo Bonfil Textiles
Leo visits with his godfather.  Leo explains what he’s been up to, studying art, and now living with Gramps.  Padrino explains a little about the new partnership with Caribbean Investment Company.  He's still the president and the VP is now Antonio Raujo, who used to work for Ricky.  When asked who the Caribbean Investment Company owners are, he isn't able to say, there's so many of them.  He does tell him they own 60% of the company.  Oh well, but they'll give Aresti Breton plenty of competition.  Leo finds out that Francisco Castro only came in to make the deal.

Outside Trejo's office, Seba is causing a ruckus, what else.  He's not happy with his office space and wants to speak with him now!  Secretary tells him Trejo is busy and offers him coffee, tea.  Seba wants a cerveza! Leo comes out and they come face to face.  Leo is told by the secretary that Seba works there.  Seba tells Leo to stop sonsacando (sonsacar=coax) Fabiola.  Leo reminds Seba she's not his property.  Seba: "She's my mujer and I'm going to marry her." Leo: "Only if she accepts you."  FIGHT! Seba warns Leo that he'll regret it if he doesn't back off.  Leo responds Seba will regret it if he touches him again.  Trejo comes out of his office to see QTH is going on!  Seba tells him Leo insulted him.  Leo counsels his godfather to hire better educated people; people with self control and more intelligence. Leo leaves and Trejo turns to Seba who repeats that Leo offended him.  "That clown is trying to move in on my mujer!"  Tejo: "Hey, that ain't no clown, that's my godson and I doubt very much he insulted you.  I'll speak with him and get his version of what happened."  Trejo returns to his office.  Seba threatens the secretary, telling her she'll regret it if she repeats what happened.

well done job Paquita, i love your small tn-dictionary.

LOL I always laugh, when I hear the windsor family joke, and Mati with tree-face, she doesn't understand, very "dangerous" scene. And when she shouted Rhodalina, I loved Ori, she should always be so brave.
I loved Leo, when he run down from the upstairs because of the ringing cell phone, and Mati is a witch, she is so wicked with Fabiola. I loved the mother of 3 symbol above her head.
Maria had a tragic destiny, but I think a divvy healing wold have been on bad terms with our realistic tale. Beningno and perla are the shame of human species, they are miserable. No Maria, they will have less with one problem, and they were better intrested in Tv programme than maria's death.
But a fault, Maria was operated, but she hadn't cuts on her head, she should have had at least a head bandage. The scene with Ricky was so emotional, and she died laughly, I think it made the scene more dramatic.

AlejoP.

Paquita thanks for this quick recap. Now that I'm recapping regularly, I so appreciate the work you guys do burning the midnight oil to make sense of this tn.

The worse part of the Mati-Fabi "boys only want to get in your pants then they'll leave" convo is that it should have happened FIVE YEARS AGO when Fabi entered puberty, not when she's three or so months pregnant with three suitors. Talk about doing something once the horse is out the barn.

Homero and Leo being nosy is also apparently going lead them into trouble with JL and co.

Thanks so much for this quick recap. There was so much to cover and for me those are the hardest to recap. Very little FF and needing to include details can be time consuming. Especially on an intrigue filled show such as this. I appreciated the vocabulary, too.

I simply cannot get behind Matty. Her need to control her family is not healthy. The things she said to Fabiola last night were horrible and in my opinion emotionally abusive.

Great work, Paquita. This program must be a real challenge. My first series was LFdD, which also had a lot of detail.

I guess Madhilde's getting knocked up when she was single is at least half the driver of her control-freakishness but it doesn't excuse the emotional abuse she is heaping on her unfortunate daughter. I hope somebody eventually kicks her clear across Mexico for this. The very idea that marrying Sebass (good one, whoever thought it up) should be her punishment for letting him rape her when she was unconscious displays a viciousness that screams out for a shink.

And Sebass will ultimately do something anatomically impossible if he keeps behaving this way in offices. And he deserves it.

Great Paquita, tks

I strongly recommend this for Madhilde

Dale Carnegie Course: Effective Communications & Human Relations/Skills For Success

Can't wait 'til they find a way to get rid of the scurrilous brat.

Excellent, excellent recap, Paquita. There was a lot happening this episode.

I would have agreed with Mati saying she has a right to know about who Piero is, if she actually cared that he's a good person who loves and respects her daughter. She couldn't care less about that. She ONLY wants to know if he has money or comes from a family with a high society name. With those two things in place, she would care if Piero was a woman abuser who hurled insults at her daughter and thought she was a whore. In fact, that's exactly who she's trying so hard to make Fabi marry- SabAss.

The passing of Maria was sad but beautiful. Who was the ghost? Her mother, maybe?

That's, she wouldn't care if Piero were an abuser...

I hope Leo also goes around in an armored car, because he and grandpa are about to become target number one. JL is close to finding out who they are, and it looks like Ori's refusal to back to him is about to drive him close to the edge.

The apparition being Maria's mom makes sense. Thanks, Vivi. I was wondering who it was and since her appearance seemed to be more artistic/symbolic than plot point I figure we'll never know for sure. It was a beautiful and poignant scene.

VIvi, I checked and the ghost was the young Maria. The same actress was in 4th episode in the flashback scenes.

AlejoP.

Ooh! That's interesting, Alejo. So it was the ghost of Maria, looking on at herself? The Ghost of Christmas Past.

Beautiful recap, Paquita. So many details to cover and you got each and every one! I marvel at this!! I also appreciate the vocabulary as I then go look it up in my dictionary and look at ways to use it in sentences.

A friend of mine from Guadalajara thinks my vocab continues to improve. If he only knew it was because of our TNs!!!

I agree that every mother has a right to know about their children, but Matilde is an emotionally abusive woman. If someone were to ask me if I would "prefer" physical abuse over emotional abuse, I think I would choose physical abuse. At least it is something you can "see". I have to think that emotional abuse is something that can harm a person for much longer than the physical abuse. Of course, physical abuse also carries the emotional abuse, but when dealing with a teenager, wouldn't it stand to reason that this could harm the teen for a long time afterwards?

What sickens me even more is Sebastian calling Fabiola a whore. Oh my gosh, I could have yanked my hand in that screen and put a vise grip on that little pinhead of his.

I guess we are just past the halfway point on this TN. I don't want it to end. It is a TN filled with substance and no filler. The Spanish is complex and really forces my brain to work hard, but I know this TN alone has really helped me!

...and dear Maria...I have to say it made me cry. Such a sad life. Thank you AlejoP for confirming it was Maria looking at herself. I had wondered about it, but wasn't sure.

Marvelous recapping skills, Paquita!!

Fatima

Gracias, Paquita!

Ay, esa Matilde! Every time I start to feel the least bit sorry for her, she opens her mouth and says something horrible again.

I have a feeling Sebastian is going to screw up this whole Trejo Bonfil business and end up getting Francisco into even more trouble with Joaquin. Having Sebastian around to take the fall isn't going to work if he makes such a huge mess of things that it's not believable when people like Francisco and Antonio try to say that they had no idea what he was doing. Joaquin already thinks Francisco can't control "his" people...what's he going to think if he meets Sebastian?!

Oh that would be fun to watch!!!

Paquita – Muchísimas gracias. You filled in all the gaps I had. Fine recap.

I will miss Maria. Hate to say it, but Sebass did have a point when he asked Ricky how he was expected to feel for Maria when thanks to the family’s secret he never got to know her. Of course, Sebass is a jerk and could have done better. But how different might he be today if, say, at age 5 or 6, they had introduced him to Maria?

Paloma is right to bar Matilda from harassing her daughter. But I wonder if Paloma is being so tough, like telling Ruben to go ahead and get a divorce [which to me is out of line, stay out of other folk’s marriage unless you see blood], because Paloma’s own husband was like Matilda. Paloma knows she should’ve never let her husband stop her from trying to find Inez. Being rich and also having Homero as a friend back then, she surely could’ve found Inez. I think Paloma is also working out her anger with herself for being pushed around by her husband. She should suggest Matilda get therapy because hating on her own daughter and being so crappy that NOONE likes her is a sickness.

I do believe I saw Tito wagging his tail on the lawn with Alina.

Strangely they blurred Benigno’s girlfriend’s cleavage.

"haha, they blurred out the bum of one of the babies"

This wasn't the case for the early episodes. Somewhere around ep30, Uni considered that nudity and started blurring that nude painting.

Madhilda needs a shrink but she would never go to one.

It was not out of line for anyone to tell her that the way she treats Fabiola will push everyone else away. This woman is out of her mind and very out of touch with modern reality. While being an unmarried mother is far too commonplace today it has to be worse to be married to an abusive jerk.

She has to be related to Bernarda of TdA if she believes that Fabiola should be punished for her situation... which was the same as her own.

Thank you Paquita, and thank you for the vocab lesson. I didn't know any of those words before.

I'm with you 5Ft Latina, every time I start to feel sorry for Matilde, she opens her mouth and speaks. Then I hate her again and wish her ill. I can sympathize with her about being kept in the dark and not being in on decisions, but she's created a landscape that is so hostile and abusive that she has forfeited her rights to be a part of it. Insulting and insisting isn't going to make the situation go away or get better and neither will 'I told you sos'. She refuses to listen to anyone while insisting on getting her way. All Paloma has to do to control Matilde is threaten to cut off her inheritance.

I thought the scene of Maria dying was very touching too. David Zapeda did a good job there.

Now everyone will know that Sebastian is working for Trejo Bonfil and JL and figure out what's up there.

Homero now is going to investigate Paloma Valdivia. Will he discover that she had 2 children instead of one? Not a spoiler, I am just guessing here. It would make sense that Homero would be the one to solve that mystery too if it's true.

I guess that's the answer, Tito wags his tail when he is playing & having fun.

Cathyx said: "She refuses to listen to anyone while insisting on getting her way. All Paloma has to do to control Matilde is threaten to cut off her inheritance."

Aaaand that's why I can't stand Matty. Everything she does is self serving. Deep down she is only worried about herself. I don't even take her despair about not knowing Fabiola's whereabouts as motherly concern. She was just worried Paloma liked Fab better. I make no bones about it, I do not like Matty and have no sympathy for her.

Thanks for the recap! Just watched the episode a little while ago.

Maddy is such a control freak. She is emotionally abusive to her family. Can't believe she called her own daughter a "cualquiera". Hope Paloma does end up kicking her out of the house.

Maria's death scene was sad. Ric being there with her was good. I think he was the right person to be there with her in her final moments. I'm getting tired of Benigno and his lady friend. What other secrets could he possibly find out about Ric? I doubt there's any. I don't think there are any more skeletons in Ric's closet. All the Ori/JL stuff doesn't count. That's none of Benigno's bizness anyway.

It seems like with Leo's godfather now in the mix, things might get interesting with JL/Trejo Bonfil/CIC. We'll see what happens. Also, as mentioned, Seba might not be so helpful to JL.
--TF

Paquita thanks for your recap.

Watching Maddie be so abusive to her daughter was sickening. I'm w/Sara in that I can't have sympathy for her b/c of her viciousness to her family.

Cathyx ITA that if anyone will find out about Oriana's past it will be Homer.

TF, I don't see what Benigno would come up with either that any reporter would care about. Maria is dead now and the parentage part of the story has already been told, there's nothing else of scandal to report. I hope we're done with this story line now.

Thanks for his wonderful recap, Paquita. Well done.

For a sickly old lady, Paloma certainly wields a lot of power. She uses her wealth as well as her fragile health to control and manipulate those around her. I feel a bit sorry for Matilde because she is the generally focal point of Paloma's ire.

I'm a little puzzled as to why Paloma didn't think of looking to her old friend Homero when she set out on her quest to find her disappeared daughter and grand daughter. He sure has a lot of investigative resources and experience.

I'm not seeing the significance of the ghostly apparition at the hospital. María's spirit? Ummm...OK...but María was wide awake for that kiss from her prince right before she died. I keep thinking that there was more to it than that.

Carlos

Cathyx, I agree.

I've realize the third to last sentence of my first comment wasn't clear. What I meant to say was I wonder if Sr. TrejoB is also going to see that JL's personal life interferes with business. If he, like Homero, hears the gossip about Oriana and all that, I don't think that will be a good thing. I do hope there are no serious consequences for him in the business deal, but it seems almost inevitable.

I wonder if JL will put Raquel to investigate Leo and Gramps or will he do it himself. If Homero puts the pieces together about Oriana/Ines and Franciso Castro/JL, that has it's pros and cons. On the upside he might be able to save TrejoB from losing his company. On the downside, Ori may go to jail, but my guess is that just like in QBA, it'll have to happen.
