Lo Que La Vida Me Robó Lunes 1/13/14 #45

Chapter 45: Distress, Joy, and Comfort

In Review

José Luis began telling Lady Angelica the truth about his identity.

Current Happenings

Esmeralda's Apartment: The Lord Mayor proved his unworthiness by barging in and subjecting Esmeralda to insults and a savage beating, after which he removed money from his wallet and threw it at her. He demanded that she never approach his wife again.

Lady Angelica's Bedchamber: José Luis began telling her his sad tale, including how Lady Monserrat's family used its influence to precipitate his fall. Further, how his friend aided him in his escape, but it was all in vain for Lady Monserrat had married under duress from her mother and it was no longer possible to elope with her. Lady Angelica exchanged her truth for this, telling him that she was gravely ill, perhaps soon to die. He embraced her tenderly in mutual sympathy.

Almonte Manor: Lady Monserrat confided her concern and her feelings of guilt to Lady Carlotta, who did comprehend. Lady Monserrat felt that she did not have the right to happiness because of past and ongoing deceptions. In her unmalicious superficiality, Lady Carlotta implored her to forget this foolishness and concentrate on her current feelings, suggesting that her niece begin a family. Lady Monserrat did indeed indicate a desire to do so.

Lady Angelica's Bedchamber: José Luis told her that he would depart that night; she implored him not to because of the danger and because she could not endure anything evil befalling him. He embraced her again, in an attempt to comfort her that nothing would happen.

Esmeralda's Apartment: She looked at herself in the mirror, noting the bruise at the side of her left eye and the lips that would certainly swell within the hour. She contacted Zulema to tell her she would not be able to work, but did not disclose the reason. A noise brought her attention to the unlocked door and she darkened the room, picked up a ceramic object, and threw it. Only it was Refugio who entered, surprised. She fell into his arms in relief.

Almonte Manor: In the parlour Lord Alejandro enquired of Lady Monserrat whether she was tired. Looking at her watch she did comment that it was late and implied she wished to sleep. She rose to leave and paused, waiting for him to follow. He did not wait long to do so and they entered the bedchamber where, between kisses, he apologised for his behavior on the night of their arrival. She returned his apology with her own for the things she had said. They agreed to forget that night and treat this as though it were to be the first. She declared that she was completely his and they began to divest each other of their clothing. He carried her to the bed as he should have done many times before and would likely do again and they began the slow and passionate dance of their love, a dance that would most assuredly last the night.

Esmeralda's Apartment: As he embraced her in his own relief, Refugio told of his escape and his hiding and the reasons for it. At her concern for his friend he told her that they had needed to separate to better avoid capture. Noting that his clothes were dirty she suggested that he bathe while she prepared some food for him. As he held her face she drew in her breath in pain, as though it resounded like percussion. He was confused for in the darkness he had not yet seen the bruises on her face. He lit the room and looked at her injuries in shock, asking who had struck her.

Arechiga Manor: Lady Virginia came to her sister's room to tell her that the household was asleep. The three descended the stairs and Lady Angelica told her sister to await her in her room. She escorted José Luis carefully outdoors where he bid her farewell. Alas, Master Dimwit was about and in possession of a pistol and he demanded that he stand and disarm, his voice echoing off the brick walls of the open building. He calmly placed the pistol on the ground. Dimwit said he did not want to shoot, but to turn him over to the police.

José Luis asked him what more he wanted, as he was then leaving and would forever be out of Lady Monserrat's life. This did not satisfy Dimwit, who appeared to be seeking revenge for past disobedience to his demands. With apparent calm, José Luis told him that Lady Monserrat had told him everything she knew of the crime he had been arrested for. Dimwit claimed it had been accidental and had happened while he was defending himself. Although he appeared pained at the memory, he expressed no regret for his actions. José Luis then challenged him to kill him, stepping close enough for the mouth of the pistol to touch his forehead. However, his cowardice caused him to hesitate and José Luis was able to disarm him and knock him to the ground. He picked up Dimwit's weapon and held him off with it, telling him that it was his doing that he was a fugitive. Dimwit dared him to kill him, attempting to mock his honesty and goodness. However, José Luis did not allow himself to be baited into such a disastrous action. He said that Dimwit had caused his own fall. Dimwit challenged him to kill him. However, José Luis would not. Instead he suggested that Dimwit cause his own death and left his pistol on the ground. He warned him not to make a false move. Dimwit, perhaps in horror of his own cowardice, shouted at him to flee.

Esmeralda's Apartment: Refugio shouted that this had been the result of the life Esmeralda had been leading. She denied that her questionable employment was the cause. He demanded to know the identity of the brute so that he could avenge her. She refused, saying that it was someone very powerful who would do him much harm. He kissed her forehead, telling her that he could not tolerate seeing her hurt in such a way. She pleaded with him not to touch her; it was obviously causing her pain. She asked him to forget this, but he would not in the certainty that the same unknown man would hurt her yet again. He stubbornly insisted she reveal his name, but she refused yet again, saying she could not.

Arechiga Manor: Lady Angelica cried in the company of her sister when they heard a male voice shouting from somewhere below the open window. They quickly rose and looked outside, frightened that José Luis had possibly been captured. Two shots rang out. They went downstairs to see Lord Joaquin in the drawing room with two constables, one of whom said they believed they had shot Antonio Olivares, who had shot at Dimwit. The two sisters came downstairs to learn what had happened only to be reproached by their father as though they were children in pinafores rather than grown women. He ordered them back to their bedchambers. Two other constables entered with José Luis between them. Lady Angelica went upstairs, containing her shock as best she could. Lord Joaquin then attempted to intimidate him, saying that he had powerful friends, including Lord Mayor Pedro Medina. He would personally see that the full weight of the law would apply. José Luis maintained a stoic silence as he was taken outside. Dimwit entered at that moment only to excuse himself to retire to his room. Lord Joaquin looked at him curiously as he went upstairs.

Lady Virginia cried out as she saw José Luis being taken away. Lady Angelica wept, not knowing what to do. Lady Virginia suggested appealing to their father, but Lady Angelica knew better, saying that they must find another way. Lady Virginia suggested that they seek out Lord Alejandro.

Maria's Bedchamber: In what must have been the wee hours of the morning, Adolfo entered her room stealthily to take his leave of her. She was not startled, asking why he was leaving so early. He told her he needed to so as not to allow time for Lord Alejandro to suspect him. She acquiesced to his request for a kiss, but at his suggestion that she leave with him she demurred despite his logical argument that she now had no relations there to stay for. She insisted she would never leave Lord Alejandro. Adolfo knew the folly of this and said so. She told him that Lady Monserrat did not love her husband. He knew otherwise, for he had seen that which she did not wish to know. He knew that she would never be able to inspire in His Lordship what she wished him to feel. “He is married, and much in love with his wife. I, however, am single...” She asked whether he wished to marry her, which he quickly denied, saying he never wished to marry. He did suggest that they could have some excellent pastimes far from the manor. She rejected his offer quietly and, not wishing to waste any valuable time or effort, he took his leave and left her room. She turned over to get the last acceptable hours of rest.

The Following Morning

Kitchen: Maria entered the kitchen to find Dominga and Rosario preparing breakfast. They were laying out the breakfast tray for the master suite. “Is she ill?” enquired the impudent wench. “No,” replied Rosario, turning so that the two large glasses of orange juice were visible. “Only wishing to breakfast upstairs.” Maria failed in her attempt to hijack the breakfast tray from her and was further chagrined at Rosario's information that the master and mistress of the manor had slept in the same chamber.

Lady Monserrat's Bedchamber: Clad in a pink chemise, she looked out the window at what seemed a glorious day and indeed, for her it was. Lord Alejandro told her that she was more beautiful than the day and from that day forward would be the most important thing in his life. He promised to indulge all her whims, but she wished only to be happy with him. She rose to open the door at Rosario's knock and Rosario entered with the breakfast tray. Smiling, she entered and placed it on the table. It was a hearty country breakfast much needed by the lovers after what most certainly had been a night without much sleep. Rosario asked whether they required anything else and was told that she should delay the usual making up of the bed. Rosario departed with a smile that expressed her happiness for them and certainly pride in her splendid son, who was still lacking a shirt. After she had closed the door Lady Monserrat expressed happiness that such a good woman was in their service; she was much appreciative of her. He agreed, admitting he had previously misjudged her, and suggested they enjoy their breakfast.

Master Dimwit's Bedchamber (Arechiga Manor): He was nervously packing his valise, carefully placing the stolen money among his clothes while worrying about the possibility that José Luis might tell the police about him before his departure. Before he could close it, Lady Angelica entered weeping, blaming him for José Luis' arrest the night before. He realized that she knew at least some of the secret and accused her of deceiving her parents over it. She pushed him back, telling him she wanted him out of the manor immediately and far away from herself and her sister. He sarcastically told her he was leaving and then began insulting her, saying “I thought you were special, but you're like all the rest. A stupid woman in love with the wrong man.” He then forced her out of the room and closed the door. [Possible continuity problem here; I did not see him close the valise as she entered, but it was closed when he turned back to it.]

Valverde Manor: Lady Josefina sat on a bench, reading a book as Lady Nadia arrived. She confided her desire to leave, as she was being stifled by the gossip about her most shameful situation. Lady Nadia pointed out that this was not of her making, but Lady Josefina was certain she was to blame due to her own foolishness. She had fallen in love with a man who was unworthy. Despite knowing this, she had not been cured of the illness of her love for him. Lady Nadia enquired about Lord Tomas, only to be told that he was in the capital on business matters. She then told her that someone wished to speak with him whereupon her own brother, Adolfo, entered. He enquired of Lady Josefina whether she wished to learn of Dimwit's whereabouts.

Arechiga Manor: Lady Amelia attempted to persuade Lady Angelica to take her medications, but Lady Angelica only wished to know what had happened the night before. Her mother told her that Mr Olivares had been arrested and was taken to the prison. She was not to worry, as he would never be near them again. He would be punished for his crime; he had killed the head constable. He would be in prison for the rest of his life. Lady Angelica was distressed at this declaration. At her mother's insistence that she see a doctor in the capital, she refused. Finally, unable to endure her mother's excessive coddling and her simultaneous unwillingness to see a basic truth, she hurriedly left the drawing room.

Valverde Manor: Lady Josefina was more than displeased at the sight of Adolfo, demanding to know how he dared come in view of his past dishonorable actions. He could not talk his way out of her accusations, which she listed forcefully, ending with how the resulting scandal had made her a laughing stock. She knew he had been as greedy as her false bridegroom had been. Adolfo tried to answer, but discovered that his own sister had taken Lady Josefina's part. She did not hesitate to tell him she was ashamed to be his sister after what he had done. He tried to lay all of the blame at Dimwit's door, but he fooled neither of them. Lady Nadia scolded him over using their parents' property in the deception. His only defense (if one could call it that) was that this was no worse than Lady Monserrat marrying Lord Alejandro, as both marriages had been for gain. Lady Josefina would not believe a word he said, only demanding to know where Dimwit could be found. At the last Adolfo revealed that he was at Arechiga Manor, with the intent of making a daughter of that house a victim of the same ruse.

Almonte Manor: Lady Monserrat came downstairs and to the surprise of her loyal servant, was clad in trousers and riding boots, as it was time for her to learn to ride. She would be going riding with her husband. Rosario was very pleased. Maria, who had entered behind Her Ladyship, was not. Lady Monserrat instructed Rosario to advise Lady Carlotta that she wished to speak with her and Rosario agreed, asking what she would like to eat that day. She told her to prepare whatever she wished. Lord Alejandro entered then, telling his lady wife that she was most beautiful. They embraced before departing. His Lordship had appeared not to notice Maria's presence, which provoked a most petulant expression and a nasty comment regarding Her Ladyship's character. Rosario would not allow this to go unanswered, declaring that Her Ladyship was an angel. Maria, in her usual manner, denied this by saying that Her Ladyship was hiding evil behind her smile. Rosario attempted to advise her of the foolishness of this comment, but Maria most rudely told her that she did not take advice from filthy peasants. Rosario, who clearly had been raised to have better manners than this, was too shocked to reply as the impudent Maria departed the room.

The Gaol: Lord Mayor Medina and Constable Basurto walked down the corridor to the cell where José Luis had been imprisoned. The Lord Mayor made a comment that surprised the constable, then requested privacy to speak with the prisoner. Basurto departed obediently and Medina demanded that the prisoner turn around that he might see the his face. José Luis turned around and surprisingly admitted his true identity.

I knew Univision was going to slaughter that hot love scene! Original lasted about 6 minutes, Univision cut: 20 seconds. And I'm being generous.

I have to admit my love for Angelique Boyer. She can pull off some great love scenes. First was Corazon Salvaje 09, Teresa, Abismo de Pasion, but this one has dethroned her CS love scene, though not by much, as my new favorite of all time. Of course, having hot partners never hurts. :-)

Univision really butcher their love scene. I figure they would edit but not that bad. The original was hot! What a waste since we having been waiting to see it.

Indeed. Sebastian Rulli is major hot stuff.

On another subject, I had a conversation a little while ago with a friend on the subject of male rage and its relationship to sexual performance. She doesn't watch TNs and wouldn't, but she also wondered -- as I am -- about Pedro's real problem.

Well. To borrow a phrase..the viewers were "Robo" tonight. Uni did a terrible hatchet job, given the significance of the love scene in advancing the plot and the relationship between Monse and Ale. Glad I got the full 6 minutes elsewhere. I'm thinking about abandoning Univ all together based on the hatchet job..I mean editing job they're doing on this novela. I'm new to Uni and these novelas...this is like my 4th one. Now I wonder how much I missed out on with the other novelas I watched on Uni.

That was to be expected. I finished watching the most hawt scene on Youtube. Why can't HBO nab Televisa content so they can air them uncut? Uni doesn't deserve any of Televsa's content if they can't respect the producer's work. The best they could've done was show some bits that didn't have nudity. I wonder why Sortilegio got away with the hot scenes in 2012.

What was your first novela? This is like my 13th or so novela.

I'll miss those days where love scenes weren't butchered at all. Well, in 2011 at least.

The censorship is getting more severe each year. I've seen the difference in these 4 years I have been watching. Sorti did get a lot of censoring, but not as much as the shows have been getting the past year. I mean, 6 minutes turned into 20 seconds?! Wow!

It was kinda silly to censor it in the way that they did. Especially since they did not butcher Amor real love scenes lol and they were all over the place ;)

This was simply a beautiful recap, Urban. It was just lovely. You chose the PERFECT fan for this episode!!

I feel so badly about the beating inflicted upon poor Esmeralda. I suspect that Nadia will never know this happened, but that utterly disgusting Pedro just might flaunt that in her face.

I also fear for Jose Luis.

Oh my, oh my, oh my.

Fatima

I am so glad I watched original love scene!! Ruling and Boyer SIZZLE and look gorgeous as true Novela stars.
Ditto Denise.

I am truly baffled by this censorship. What is with these people at Univision?! We get tons of vulgarity on HBO, etc. There is sex everywhere, but a beautiful love scene is chopped from 6 minutes to 20 seconds.

Since when are the bozos at Univision the arbiters of good taste? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

Fatima

Urban:

Thanks so much for this fan-tastic recap. I love your fan.

I really liked that love scene anyway, no matter if it was cut or not. It was just wonderful to see them finally "do the deed". You can always use your imagination.

I am glad that Nadia made Addled face the music with Fina. I just knew Addled was going to out Dimwit first chance he got. To save himself from getting the brunt of the dressing down so to speak. Fina is having none of it and good for her. I'm so glad Addled told her exactly where Dimwit was.

So glad Ale ignored BM completely. She thought she had that ace in the hole about the theft, but nopis, wrong! I'm so glad Monse and Ale were so lovey dovey in front of BM. BM only sees what she wants to see. She will regret all the venom she spews at Rosy too. Wait until she finds out who Rosy really is and let's see her try and talk her way out of her behavior. I am so looking forward to that.

Poor Esme. I'm glad Pedro didn't kill her. Pedro is really violent, into intimidation I think of women especially. Maybe he had a Mama that beat him a lot and so now he takes it out on Esme. He only hit Nadia the one time. I think he knows he can't do that again. I just knew Refugio would show up at Esme's. He always does when he is in trouble.

Poor Angie. I am glad JL and Angie told each other the truth. They are so sweet, I hope later they do have some type of future or encounter again.

I'm surprised Dimwit didn't kill JL, I just knew JL wouldn't kill Dimwit. He is an honorable man and only killed to defend. I hope Dimwit gets a huge anvil, he so deserves one.

Thanks again Urban for this fabulous recap.

Someone asked about my first novela. I stumbled across Sortilegio online last year and got hooked on William Levy. In search of more Levy, I stumbled into Fuerzo de Destino and, Abismo De Passion (not good with spelling the titles). I tried to watch Amores Ved. but couldn't stand to watch how that Nicki charactered treated Ruli's. I"m glad I skipped that one because Ruli is so much hotter in this novela and he has an overall better script. This show has been great so far. Many have commented on the length being 180 episodes. I am concerned that I can stay interested, knowing how these novelas go up and down, hot and cold with the main protagonist..but we'll see.

Those of you at the Ale table need to start a petition and appeal to Uni to put down the editing hatchet for the remainder to the show.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Univision is becoming afraid of the moral watchdogs of this country who want to reduce all television to G-rated stuff. That is why they are doing this, so that advertisers (who are not Hispanic and don't understand that the intended audience is not offended by these scenes) don't bail on them. It isn't about good taste; it's fear of the bottom line.

In the time I worked for Hispanic ad agencies this was never a problem. Now that Univision is #1 network on some nights (esp. Fridays) this is happening.

I'll also bet that this episode aired on a Friday in Mexico. It also airs at 9:30 in Mexico.

HBO is a paid network and not ad-supported. They can do pretty much as they please.

None of this justifies the censorship. I personally find this insulting to our intelligence and sophistication.

See you all in the AM; I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.

I really enjoyed Fina and Nadia confronting Addie and can't wait to see Fina confront Dim and out him in front of the Arechigas.

JL's life looks like it's about to become more complicated, if that's possible. Poor guy!

And poor Esme. I hope Nadia somehow finds out how her loose lips caused Esme great harm.

Thanks, UA, for another excellent chapter in our story. The pink fan is lovely.

I was cheering for Josefina in her confrontation with Adolfo. Looking forward to justice coming to Dimi.

Pobre de Esme! We knew Pedro wouldn't let the insult to his image pass unpunished. What a scumbag he is! Maybe he'll try to hire JL for his enforcing team and JL will end up as a double agent.

So, our lovers made a fresh start. Didn't Montse tell Rosario to move her husband's things into her bedroom? Sounds like they'll be all cozy together. And won't our Miss Maria be furious about that! She just can't believe that Ale is so deeply in love with his wife.

Thank you so much, Urban, for a beautifully written account of terrific episode. Excellent!

It was nice, as Mads and Vivi said, to see Addled confronted by Nadia and Fina. But what a jerk he is. The accusations just rolled right off his back.

La Paloma, it was my understanding too that Montse asked Rosario to move Alejandro's things into her room.

I loved the moment when José Luis and Angélica chose to tell one another the truth. These two are wonderful together, as characters in the story and as actors.

Urban A, thank you for a most stupendous recap. I love the pink fan, it would go with so many of my outfits.

Hooray! Josefina is back and judging by the preview it looks like she is ready to rumble.

Oh man, that scene with Pedro and Esme was painful to watch. The way he threw money at her was downright hideous, like he can do anything if he pays for it. Damn "limp-d*cked psycho", to quote Lila.

I almost fell off my chair when Montse showed up in a riding outfit. At last she is all dressed up with someplace to go!

Nice job, Urban Anthropologist. I bet it was fun for you to get to recap the good love between Montserrat and Ale.

I admit, I am shuddering to think of how awful it will be when Ale finds out about Antonio's real identity. I understand that Montserrat will have to bear the consequences of her deception but I am feeling great compassion for her as she moves into a fun and sexy time with her husband that is doomed, doomed, doomed to end when he finds out about Jose Luis.

Tonight I thought I heard the anvil raising words from Montse about nothing ever separating she and Ale again. Caray caray!

Like NM and others, I love Jose Luis and Angelica together. Those two actors have real juice together. They are a very sympathetic couple and I am really pulling for them to find true affection together. My telenovela radar tells me that they are both doomed, but maybe they will find a cure for her cancer and his crimes? Possibly? Hopefully?

Thanks again, Urban. You got this recap up so fast!

EJ

UA, thanks for the very entertaining recap this a.m. "Pinafores" indeed!

Esmeralda was lucky she didn't end up dead. If she were smart she would get out of town.

Loved Maria having to witness the happiness of Montse and Alejandro. Adolfo didn't even want to marry her.

Yes, the love scene was butchered. UA , I am sure it does all come down to $ as everything does.

Jarifa

Urban Anthropologist,

Thank you so much for this fabulous recap. I love your style of writing and always look forward to reading your recaps. Oh, and thanks for putting it up so quickly.

Like so many have already commented the Uni scissors are back in full force. Thank goodness for the internet! I am seriously thinking of watching online from now on. I watched the uncut version of the Ale and Montse love scene and I agree that Uni butchered what so many of us had been waiting for. No spoiler here, but the original scene has MUY CALIENTE! It flowed with ease, and was so well choreographed. The Uni version was very choppy. It's too bad, because this scene showed the viewer how close the couple has become and how much they love each other. I think that is an essential part of the character development.

BTW, I saw a lot of skin and action the other day in a love scene on network television. Hmmm...

I am so glad that JL and Angie were honest with one another. I do admit that they do make a cute couple, but I really don't know how they can have a future together. Especially since JL just admitted to Pedro who he really is. I do hope that Angie (and possibly her sister Virginia) will come up with some kind of plan to help JL. Angie might be JL's only hope.

My dislike for Dimibrow grows everyday. He held JL just long enough for the police to find him. I hope Montse finds out that her brother is the reason JL got caught.

From the looks of the avances, bebe (Dimi) is going to get called out. FINA'S BACK! Yay!Payback is a B**TCH!

Hated the scene with Pedro and Esme. It was hard to watch. That Pedro has got some serious issues, and now I am really afraid for Nadia and Victor. They better take cover.

I thought it was kind of funny how we're always commenting that JL looks like he stinks, and one of the first things Esme told Refugio was that he smelled like dirt, and suggested a bath. He!He!

Loved the morning after scene between Montse and the bare chested Ale. And it was so cute how excited Rosario was for the couple. That scene in the kitchen with BM, Dominga and Rosario was good too. I loved the way Rosario shoved it in BM's face that Montse and Ale had spent the night together. Also, later when the lovebirds were leaving to go riding, and Ale didn't even notice BM was in the room. LOL!!!!THAT WAS AWESOME! Again, payback is a B*TCH!

P.S. I loved the way Ale looked in his pajama pants the 'morning after'. Ay Papasito!

Have to get some sleep...hasta pronto!

Pedro is so violent, where are Nadias parents anyway? And how did Pedro make Nadia fall in love with him,it doesnt make sense unless he played goodies goodies with her until the marriage then shown his true face like many people in real life do

thanks, UA, for another great recap and the beautiful fan.

Gee, I am glad you all cleared things up for me....I thought that I had fallen asleep and missed the rest of the love scene after the great start on the sofa. Yesterday was the first day of the new semester, and I was very tired.

This novela is getting very dark..so much angst and woe.

And i love that Fina is coming back to taunt pobre Dimmy some more.

regarding Nadia marrying Pedro, bad people can sometimes wear a mask to hide who they really are to get what they want. Was the marriage just for political purposes ? Pedro is awful and deserves a very big anvil. What a monster. Poor Esme.

Yes,it was for political purposes,if a mayor was "afraid" of women like Pedro is,he would be a laughingstock of the country so he married Nadia to solve that problem,monster.. His only penalty is death and nothing more and Gracie deserves to rot in jail or manicomio.

Will watch this later on today, but amazed, UA, at how your chaste account of the love scene was muy caliente indeed. You conveyed the passion and intensity through elegant language. Well done, artful recapper.

Wonderful read UA. Your prose style was exceptional and brought so much emotion through the words. Brilliantly done.

Wish could say the same about the UNI editors. But really, are we even surprised anymore...disgusted by their scissors, but not surprised. There are far more racy scenes in prime time on the major networks, so their cutting is hardly in line with what network TV is showing. And if an episode is little more racy, put on a disclaimer and the kiddies can hide their eyes (as if they don't watch similar stuff online anyway.) This is just last editing and makes you wonder if they have someone with a bit of an issue with this type scene holding the shears. They'll show a woman getting beaten to a pulp, but cut a love scene. Right.....

This feels so much like the calm before the storm. Gnawing feeling that this goodwill between Ale and Monse will be short lived and we need to go into the required angst stage of having them apart. Always happens.

Dim may have been on to something with his comment on another stupid woman in love with the wrong man...lord there are enough of those in the TN.

Daisynjay

Urban, another beautiful recap. When I see your gorgeous fan, I always smile as I know what lies ahead. Lyrical and lovely.

"He embraced her tenderly in mutual sympathy", "unmalicious superficiality", "As he held her face she drew in her breath in pain, as though it resounded like percussion" and "as though they were children in pinafores rather than grown women" were marvelous.

I was confused by Adolfo saying good by to Maria and (gag), actually asking her to go with him. I thought he had indicated his night with her was disappointing and he showed no signs of being enamored with her thereafter (that I could see). Was there some ulterior motive I missed?

Madelaine, I was also glad he told Fina where Dimwit was - sure to be consequences and repercussions there. Good!

Even though censored, I am sure the Ale admirerers enjoyed his abbreviated love scene with Monse last night. Rosario seemed to be as delighted as the couple themselves! :)

Poor Angelica. My heart went out to her - a fatal disease and losing the (unrequited) love of her life! Like NovelaMaven, EJ and others, I love these two together and hope their story has a happy middle segment as their futures separately and together appear bleak and hopeless.

Dimwit is a coward so was not surprised he did not shoot JL. Although a liar, fraud and cheat (among other unenviable traits), I do not think he would murder intentionally. I do consider Luis Gatica's (sorry forgot the character's name) killing an accident.

Pedro is a monster. Poor Esme. Fatima and AuntyAnn, I hated the scene as well. Thank heavens Refugio showed up although the poor man appears to be at the end of his rope - physically and emotionally.

Denise, I agree with you about Angelique (and CS was the better love scene by a hair). She is really delivering here, and as ANON stated she and Rulli really are the ultimate TN stars.

UA, I also loved your title. Another sensational summary.

Diana

Warning: I am posting pre-caffeine:

Daisynjay, since you mentioned that in your post I am mad enough to chew neutronium over the cutting of that splendid love scene when it's in an episode where another young woman is brutalized. That sends a very negative message to the viewers.

Let's not kid ourselves about whether kids are awake at 9 watching TV; most are. What isn't happening is parental monitoring. If parents aren't keeping on eye on their kids' TV viewing it's on them. The excuse given by the moral watchdogs is an attempt at dictating adult morality which cannot be legislated.

Enough of that.

Dimwit has just as little respect for women as Pedro or he wouldn't victimize them as he does. He plays his mother like a violin virtuoso and tortures his sister behind her back. As I typed that I started wondering whether witnessing that would change Graceless' attitude. In fact, thus far he has never treated Monserrat that abominably in front of anyone else, even Adolfo.

I don't think even Adolfo was that vile toward Nadia.

I hope somebody sees that money before Dimwit can get away.

I think nothing can change Graceless, she might be a lesser evil compared to Pedro but she commited many amoral sins like cheating with Ole Benjamin and lying to many people ,psychologicaly abusing Monse and spoiling Dimitrio. and the first thing, always caring about money and status first.

Your recap is a work of art, Urban, thank you for your hard work!
Loved your description of Maria's "chagrin". If only Maria had taken the breakfast up there and seen them together, darn!
This most perfect relationship between Ale and Monse can only be the prelude to...well I am guessing it will be Angelica that will spill the beans to Ale about the identity of his "capitan".

It's just not time for our hero and heroine to be happy. I was kind of hoping they'd have a nice honeymoon first!
Does anyone else think Josefina looks like Dimwit's older sister?

If Dimwit had had the huevos to admit to the accidental killing of Bruno Gambino, this story would be very different. Because he is a Mendoza nothing much would have happened to him and it's likely that nobody of any significance would have ever heard about this.

Pedro might have been inconvenienced, but I doubt that he would have done anything to him over that. He would just have to find another sleazebag to carry out his dirty work. That is rarely problematical to mastermind villains like him.

For Josefina and Dimwit to be half-siblings would be an interesting twist to this tale. However, if that were the case I think Graceless would have been truly horrified at the knowledge of what happened... and what could have happened.

Thank you, Urban, loved your telling of what has happened.

That love scene sure was something, right? And no need to use sheets to cover stuff, just some glass shade thingy. Quite revealing, too, it shows that the actors are comfortable enough together to agree to shoot such a scene. This is not their first time at the rodeo of fake love making, after all. Haha.

I love, LOVE JL and Angie together. They grew on me without my knowledge and now I'm rooting for them to end up together.
Angie is a sweetheart (and to think I didn't like the actress at first - fool that I was) and I find JL better every day, too.
And their scenes together in the last two episodes had suspense, drama, tenderness - great mix!

I was under the impression that JL will go, what happened, how was he caught after all?

I love how Angelica told Dimwit off. However, as I pointed out in the square parentheses, I think there was an error somewhere. The actor playing Dimwit probably forgot to close the suitcase or the cameraman didn't pan away from it before we saw Angelica enter the room.

JL was caught by the local police after his departure was delayed by Dimwit.

Dimwit could have gotten away with killing JL who was under suspicion of killing Loreto. I don't think he cared about how Monserrat would have felt about him afterward or whether JL's true identity would have been revealed. He wouldn't care if Monserrat ends up on the streets after the revelation or if this would ultimately kill his father.

I'm not sure he even cares at all about his mother. He is exactly like her in many ways.

Refugio and Esmeralda should try to cross the border. Neither of them has anything to keep them where they are and both have reason to want to leave.

Dear Urban Anthropologist,

Thanks so much for the superb recap. I am always thoroughly engaged in your retelling of the story. Especially loved your description of the scene between Angelica and J-L:
"Lady Angelica exchanged her truth for this, telling him that she was gravely ill, perhaps soon to die. He embraced her tenderly in mutual sympathy.

Very, very sad and sweet. Both of these characters have suffered a lot and can be of great support to each other. I've never liked J-L more than in his relationship with Angelica.

At last, we get the love scene between Ale and Montse, even butchered to death! I was happy to get to this point and happy for them! The build-up and their asking forgiveness for each other managed to be both touching and steamy. Great work on the actors and writers part. Wish the editors could have left it alone.

Out of curiosity because so many people were mentioning it, I started watching AMOR REAL. I'm trying not to watch ahead of Lo Que, so I don't know any spoilers. It's fantastic, and I get why it was such a sensation. I love Lo Que, too, but I feel like there was a lot more focus on the relationship between Matilde and Manual (very sensual and satisfying even when they're fighting), whereas this novella has a lot less of Ale and Montse and a lot more focus on side characters with dramas. Maybe some commenters have mentioned this before, but I am really feeling the difference.

For example, it only took 26 episodes for Manuel and Matilde to get to their equivalent consensual steamy sex scene, whereas for Alejandro and Montserrat it was 45.

Thanks again, Urban Anthropologist, for your wonderful recap. Loved the pretty pink fan, too!

Julia, that's because LQLVMR will be much longer. AR was only 95 episodes and drama novelas now are typically around 165.

However, the writers of this series are building up some interesting supporting characters. Because of how long this one will be (I'm currently estimating that 165 in view of the latest info) there will have to be a subplot built up involving Pedro's nefarious activities.

The pink fan was chosen for the shot for Monserrat's chemise.

Daisynjay, your point about showing a woman getting beaten to a pulp versus cutting a love scene is EXACTLY what had me up in arms last night.

If Univision is so worried about the messages they are supposedly sending, how do they explain the above?

Furthermore, if you look at some of the other shows that run on Univision, they show brutality in every day life.

I understand Urban's point re Univision's phobias, but this is one of those "culture shock" points for me (as discussed in this past weekend's topic). I will always fail to see their reasoning.

Fatima

Wanted to also say that the full force of what JL has suffered and endured really hit me last night during the scenes between JL and Angie. I so loved the way Urban wrote this scene, but as these two people were sharing their pain, JL's pain and suffering hit me hard. In fact, it almost brought me to tears.

I think those tears were ready to fall when JL was captured because that scene between Angie and JL seemed to be the one honest emotional moment that JL has experienced. It was more "real" than any moment he had had with Montserrat and I think JL felt that new and welcoming reality.

Dimwit and Graciela are right up there with Pedro in terms of being monsters. Graciela and Dimwit are cold, cruel, and calculating sociopaths and they deserve a fate to suit their crimes.

Fatima

OK, I finally had to go online to watch the butchered lovemaking scene. It really is too bad that Uni cut it down to nothing because it was exceedingly well done. I don't have much to add to what y'all have already said about this, except to say ITA that to cut this scene to make way for more commercial time, and then to leave in the violent bashing of Esme, well what an odious choice. I'm glad I found the scene and watched it in its entirety. Stupid Uni.

Thanks for another great recap, Urban!

So are Dimitrio, Victor, Nadia and Pedro in Amor Real? If so, what are their names? Does my question make sense?

I liked the love scene censored or not censored. In my opinion, six minutes would have been to long. Too bad Alex is going to kill his wife once he finds out that Jose Luis was living in the shed. Oh well.

Cynderella

Cynder, oh well, and as Carlos would say, NEXT!

Yes, to the U.S. audience 6 minutes might be too long, but I would have preferred another 30 seconds more of steamy build-up in the boudoir (or sofa) and 30 seconds less somewhere else. Not to mention the editing was a careless hack job.

UA - Muchísimas gracias.

It bugs me that Nadia has given no thought that her husband might retaliate against Esme. I hope she finds out. Well, Sergio Sendel didn't throw a phone, but he threw the bills at Esme like daggers.

Madelaine, I had a feeling Refugio would show up at Esme's too. When he turned on the lights and saw she was banged up, I got chills.

I'm rooting for JL but I hope Angélica does not get Ale involved in trying to free him. JL’s likely better off playing along with Pedro, long enough to escape.

Yay, Fina is back. And the preview looks good.

Cap'n Sylvia, I would've liked more steamy build-up on the sofa too. Some shows have the knack for creating an aura of hot and steamy when in effect not much is shown at all. If Televisa is going to continue with Univision, they should think about this.

I completely agree about the crazy idea that it is okay to show a man hitting a woman but that a scene of a man making love to a woman should be cut. And there you have it , folks. I am getting very tired of the violence in the media..both real and fictional. It makes me feel beaten down.

Julia R., I loved Amor Real even though I felt that beautiful Manuel was a very flawed galan who sometimes had a bad temper and made bad decisions. . I think that it was just the right number of episodes to tell the story. Early telenovelas were usually approximately 60 episodes. They just keep making them longer and longer which does not usually seem to make them better and better.

Cyn....in AR, Dim was Matilde's brother (I cannot remember the character's name , but he was played by Ernesto Laguardia who did a great job.). The Viktor character was Sixto in AR, Manuel's business manager/lawyer (?). Nadia was blonde Pilar, Matilde's best friend (played by Ingrid Marz!!Doris in CI) who was married to the older , gordo guy who is Pedro in this novela. Marcario was Silvano.

Cyn... Hey, girl....Six minutes of a lovemaking scene too long...que ?????

Julia R., I'm very glad you are able to watch Amor Real. One thing that I really like about it is the history that takes place at the same time. That always makes a telenovela more interesting for me. Also, Carla Estrada is a terrific producer. She also produced Alborada which another historical novela. Last year we heard she was producing a novela, A La Luz del Angel, based on Antonieta Rivas Mercado's life, but I think it was not picked up by Televisa. What a shame.

UA: Flawless recap.

I, too, wondered what happened to the money in the suitcase. I hope that turns up somewhere. Adolfo may turn on Dimwit. Neither one of them has any conscience or scruples. They are both a dna mismatch with their sisters.

I hope Nadia and Victor have some kind of plan. She seems to have gone over the edge. Or, maybe she'll be the saving grace that converts Fina into a swan.

Thank you Urban. Could not have digested this episode without you! Haven't read comments yet so pardon the repetition.

Well, El Pricko did just what we feared, beating the crap out of Esme. That really makes me pissed at Nadia and Refugio who seemed more interested in expressing his macho outrage than comforting Esme. His confronting Pricko will only mean a more severe beating, or worse, for Esme! Sheesh!

Ahhhhhhh! The love scene was delisioso and maybe cut? The climax was seeing Maria's mug the next morning when she learned they "slept" together and Ale so enraptured with the beauty of his wife in her riding gear he didn't even notice the fuming Maria! Oh yeah, I need a cigarette now!

Thank you again Urban, I look forward to your further comments and everyone else's.

Lila

Thanks for another excellent recap UA. Well done.

I'm not too worried about JL's safety since Pedro seems to have plans for him in his organization. Maybe now we'll finally learn what Pedro's grand scheme is... if indeed he has one.

Once again I'll register a feeble protest over the way the writers are treating María. That little farewell scene between her and Adolfo was simply not consistent.

As for the editing, I think it was more careless and lazy than sinister. I think butchery describes it best. A lot like the CCs in times past, it's more of a matter of someone haphazardly doing a job they were assigned to do and there was no one check to see how well the assignment was carried out. I wish we'd gotten a better look at that breakfast that Rosario took up.

Carlos

Carlos,

Ditto on the food!

Fatima

I think she said it included eggs and beans which -- if eaten frequently enough -- do not have unwanted consequences.

I wish we had the cc stuff Gato Viejo used to alert us to. Most of the time it looked like it was translated by a computer but at least it would have filled in the blanks about the food.

Rosario did say it was eggs and beans. She also used the diminuitive, e.g, huevitos, frijolitos.

UA, Susanlynn, and Cap'n Sylvia:

Thanks for more information on AMOR REAL. I agree that the story-line in general seems really well-suited to the historical setting, and I am enjoying that part of it, as I am Fernando Colunga's performance.

I also think it adds a lot to the drama that he is a doctor in AR. Wonder why they chose to take that out of the update? I still have no idea what Alejandro studied in university. Maybe it's not important for the drama, but I'd like to know and think it would round out his character, as Manuel's being a doctor really did.

Wow, only 95 episodes! This update is significantly longer. Hope it can sustain it's dramatic tension, though it seems a challenge.

Cynderella: Just to add a little to Susanlynn's explanation, the Viktor character in AR (named Sixto) has nothing going on with the Nadia-like character--at least not yet and no sense of it pending at all. He seems to exist mostly to listen to Manuel (Alejandro in Lo Que) talk about his feelings for Matilda (Montse). Your Viktor in this current TN is way hotter!

This comment has been removed by the author.

I wish we could edit our posts without having to delete them.

I believe Alejandro has a business degree; nothing else makes any real sense.

I think the producers of many of the novelas based on Caridad Bravo Adams' stories like the idea of doctors as heroes. AR is not the only example:

Abrazame Muy Fuerte
La Esposa Virgen

Both of those are also remakes of earlier novelas produced in the 60s or 70s in Adams' lifetime.

UA....yes! I agree that Manuel's being a doctor added to the storyline. It was an unbelievable accomplishment for him because of his poor upbringing. It showed his strong character and determination right form the start of the novela. In this version, we have not seen Ale doing much except obsessing over Monymony and Jl and exhibiting bad judgement when it comes to Malaria. We have not seen his skill in running the factory or hacienda because the storyline has been about his hate for JL, Gracie, and Dim and his mistrust for Monymony. The Ale character has been presented in a pretty one dimensional way instead of the shades of gray we saw in Manuel at a very early point in AR.

UA, Fatima and all:

Hear, hear, Ladies! ITA on your comments about Uni leaving the obscene violence at the center of the show but cutting the lovely love scene. Honestly. It is clear that the Univision powers-that-be are buying into the stereotype that Americans love seeing violence in their entertainment but hate seeing sex.

When I lived in the UK I learned that even the British thought Americans were puritanical and prudish in their attitudes toward sex.

There must be some large audience that agrees with the censors—where are they?

UA, you are the advertising guru here; is it a large group of potential viewers that Univision is responding to? Are they wealthy and influence makers? Why pander to this group unless they have huge economic power? Are they super-vocal or organized?

UA: I would love to hear your opinion and explanation of this phemonena.

And, Professor Karen, our doyenne of Media Studies, what do you think?

I was repulsed at seeing Pedro act out more violence against women. He is a horrid character and no back-story will explain or excuse his rage and cruelty.

I am still not persuaded that the story will show him to be gay. It seems more likely to me that he is impotent and that that will be made to be the 'reason' for his physical and emotional violence.

EJ, Growling with all of the rest of you...

Anyone who cares to, please email me at nwanyi@comcast.net with the deleted scene. Thanks.

Lila

EJ...I vote for impotent. Pedro deserves that condition. Nasty man. I hope that somewhere, sometime , he gets a beat down from someone his own size. Real men do not hit women,

EJ,

I'm very ignorant of these things, but I have wondered if what we see on our televisions is a version made by Televisa specifically for sale to certain international markets, rather than a hatchet job inflicted by the United States agent and distributor, Univision. Perhaps we are seeing exactly what they see in Dubai, say.

Of course whether the editing was done in Miami or Mexico City, it is still upsetting that SOMEONE thought our delicate sensibilities needed protection from a love scene but felt we were robust enough to watch a woman being savagely beaten and humiliated by a bully.

Here is the lowdown on advertising issues:

Some clients get very puritanical. On the English-language networks there are a lot of programs that set them off and so they pull out of them. NBC had to expect that with the Law & Order episodes that set off hot-button issues about sex like rape, incest, paedophilia, and anything else likely to offend Anthony Comstock if he were alive today. Despite those issues, they supported those programs and budgeted themselves accordingly.

Univision is coming up on the censors' radar because Hispanics are a much larger group than 15 years ago. Not only that, I'm sure that more gringos are watching in order to learn or reactivate their Spanish. If the people I've talked to about it are any valid example they also tune in to look at the hot actors and what the stores require of them.

20 years ago I recorded the 1993 CS and showed the wedding night scene to a friend who was completely blown away.

A few years ago I showed the opening title sequence of El Cuerpo del Deseo to a client in a presentation and she was floored at the sight of Mario Cimarro's bare chest. "This runs in Prime Time?" she asked. We told her that this was completely normal for Spanish-language television. It was an educational moment and this client wasn't an old prude, either.

However, some advertisers are.

One of the reasons I enjoy novelas is that there is no locker-room attitude about sex. When a couple who is made for each other has Romance Novel Sex (and if you've read a goodly number of those you know what that means) it's a deeply religious experience for those characters. That is what prudes fear because their goal is to make everyone feel guilty about sex. Many men fear the images of romance novel and novela heroes because they couldn't compete with real-world versions of them.

For anyone who didn't see the full version of that great scene, let me tell you that it is evident that Alejandro knows his stuff and that -- to quote Tony Soprano -- he whistles through the wheat fields.

I think we need to re-open the censorship discussion this weekend. Here is the discussion we had on this last year.

Urban: great recap, as always. Envious of your talent, as well as everyone else recapping this TN. I love the variety of writing styles that we get.

Now it looks like Pedro is going to get his claws into JL. Poor JL. That man is doomed. I’d like to see him have a happy ending in this TN for obvious reasons, but also because I don’t want Mons to feel guilty for the rest of her life that her family ruined JL’s life.

Madelaine: I’m also looking forward to the moment Maria finds out who Rosario really is.

Novela: “I loved the moment when José Luis and Angélica chose to tell one another the truth. These two are wonderful together, as characters in the story and as actors.”—I so agree!

Sylvia: I think Mons wore those riding pants before. She just didn’t actually ride in them. Glad to see she’s dressing semi-appropriately (what was up with that top?) and is taking a more active role.

AuntyAnn: the difference with Nadia and Esme is that Nadia gets right in Pedro’s face, while Esme, understandably so, was begging Pedro. Pedro preys on the weak. However, this does not preclude his hiring someone to kill her and/or Vic.

Urban: Re: Dim/Fina as siblings--unless Gracie didn’t know. They could share a father.

Julia R: I haven’t seen Amor Real, but that has been a complaint of mine about this TN—not enough Mons and Ale scenes.

Susanlynn: Ernesto Laguardia was in the play I saw with FC. He was a hoot.

Since Fina has mentioned more than once to Nadia about not wanting to be a laughing stock any more, I’m thinking N will be in charge of her makeover. Or maybe Nadia and Mons together, if Fina ends up visiting the Almontes.

From Friday’s ep. During one of the talks that Mons and Ale had, he mentioned Maria and I think mentioned family. Does anyone remember what he said?

Adriana: OT: Cuando Seas Mia--SN has just returned from Europe to find, in my opinion, the most physcially unappealing TN hero I've seen. Flaco says we're about two weeks in. Does that seem right to you?

Nanette

Cynderella,

Six minutes for the love scene was perfect. Have you seen the uncut version? If you haven't, I strongly recommend that you do. Rulli and Boyer really did a fantastic job. Damn you Uni scissors!

I have been watching TN for over 20 years, and until recently I do not recall so much editing. Urban ITA with this that you said: "Let's not kid ourselves about whether kids are awake at 9 watching TV; most are. What isn't happening is parental monitoring. If parents aren't keeping on eye on their kids' TV viewing it's on them. The excuse given by the moral watchdogs is an attempt at dictating adult morality which cannot be legislated." When I was a kid, my parents were my censor, not some television network executive. I wonder if things changed at Univision a couple of years ago when there was a change in management. I recall reading somewhere that there was a huge change at the top of the Univision corporate headquarters. Also around that time, there was a huge change to Uni's morning show, 'Despierta America'. If I recall correctly, some, if not all, of the host of that morning show were canned. They brought in a lot of new faces. I think these changes at the corporate level coincide with the changes done to some of their programming and censorship. But Uni better be careful because they are going to lose more and more viewers to the internet. Sorry everyone, but I had to get that off my chest.

ITA with everyone about leaving in the brutal scene between Esme and Pedro. They could have done some editing there. We did not have to see Pedro actually hitting Esme. It could have been implied. I say if you leave in the brutal attack scene, then you leave in the entire love scene. NEXT!

p.s. Does anyone know if the UniVideos online version is the same as the Uni TV version? Just curious.

Back to work...hasta pronto!

Nanette, 2 weeks seems about right.
What you lost so far: Diego, the galan, could never be with a woman, but met Paloma and totally fell for her.
She was a poor campesina, who worked on the rich hacienda cafetalera with her mother.
The two meet while Diego is there for her grandpa's will reading.
Gramps has two sons and he gives the house and the land to Diego's parents and the company in Mexico City to his uncle.
If I remember correctly, the first grandson in the family to have a son inherits the whole shebang, so the family is torn apart by this. Who will bore the first heir, nearly impotent Diego surely can't, right?

Diego has to go back to London to finish his studies, but promises Paloma to get back for her. After he's gone, she finds out she's pregnant and leaves to find him, but of course Europe is too big and they never get together.
When Diego comes back, a year later, his family convinces him to get married, knowing that he won't have relations with the wife, because he can't.
And that is when Paloma comes back to find out that Diego is married.

At first I didn't like Sergio Basanez, either, but he's considered to be one of SN' best leads. I think he'll grow on you with time, that's how it was for me, anyway.

Urban, your Soprano methaphor!!! Just wow!!! Loved it, perfect way to describe that scene. :))))))

Nanette:

The only time I remember Ale and Montse mentioning BM is when Ale was asking Montse about the missing money. Ale asks Montse why she was so quick to blame Maria for the crime, and she tells him that it was wrong to anticipate it was BM who took the money when she also had someone else in mind, her brother Dimi. Does that answer your question?

Lila,
Were you able to watch the love scene yet? would like to hear your opinion about it.

Susanlynn, Cap'n and AuntyAnn,

Six minutes is a porn scene...I've heard. Not that I've seen one..just sayin'. Ahem.

AuntyAnn, I watched the love seen twice for research purposes. Ahem.

No, Aunty Ann. I guess I'll have to search for it. I'm afraid of seeing something too far ahead so I asked someone to email me the link, no one responded. I'll just be very careful looking for it and let you know. I really want to see what Uni was so het up about!

Lila

Cynderella,

I have you beat, I watched the scene more than 2 times, for my own purpose, ahem.

Lila,
I am at work right now, but later today I can email you so you can enjoy the scene.

Cyn..."research purposes." HA...love your sense of humor. You always give me a smile, and I appreciate that.

Lila- I sent you a note.

Thanks Vivi! Back in a minute! Or six!

Lila

Thank you, Lady Urban Anthropologist, for the great recap.

Thank goodness for YouTube -- nice to see the full love scene. Those two crazy kids have some crazy chemistry. Very nice - Loved Ale's little smile of triumph toward the end of the romp. Sebastian Rulli, is for me, the sexiest man alive. At least, this season!

I know I am going to miss this story when it's over. Am just loving it. Although, sniff, missing Juventino and his evil, always munching and mooching ways. Alberto Estrella grew on me with each passing week. Would love to see him in something else.

I gather we are meant to be asking ourselves throughout all this if Ale and Dimi aren't in fact related. That would be great.

The version I found in youtube is in slow motion so the video is more than 7 minutes long. lol

Adriana: Thanks for filling me in.

AuntyAnn: no this was a different convo in a different ep. She was sitting on her sofa in her room and he was standing next to her.

Glory! I forgot to thank all of you for the compliments on the lists. Thank you.

Thank you Aunty Ann and Vivi! I've seen it and um, like uh, wow! Now I don't watch much television so I'm unable to say how this compares with other sexy scenes but it certainly is probably the hottest novella lovemaking scene I've seen in a while. I mean like lateral nudity, Montse's naked thighs cradling Ale. . .

Ok. The love scene was exactly like this refrain from my absolute favorite sensual love song of all time, "Arianne" sung by Johnny Mathis: I've substituted Montserrat's name:

"Montserrat is made of feelings
So I milk her of her kisses
And I swallow up her breathing
And I taste her where she loves me
And I'm filled to over flowing
But there's always room for more of Montserrat"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn-_hZ9HwLI

Yes. That was a damned sexy assed scene. Sexy enough that I'm not mad at Uni but thank goodness for You Tube! That being said, it could have made a lot of people feel better about the other two (in their opinion) "near rape" scenes.

Lila

Carlos: re: writers and Maria. I agree that interchange with Alpo did seem kind of out of character for her. However, I think they’re trying to show how immoral she is. I think she might have sociopathic tendencies which is why sometimes she acts fairly predictable for the situation and then turns around and does something “out of character”. Now don’t get me wrong. I think she’s abhorrent, the little . . .ahem.

Okay..I am in the six minute club. I finally found the well choreographed deleted scene. i got a kick out of the strategically placed glass vases and monymony's carefully pointed toes when Ale carried her. You can tell Angelique is a dancer who knows how to make her legs look great. Wow, you really have to trust someone to share a scene like that. It was very tender , romantic, and graceful.

Nanette, I watch plenty of television and I can assure you that this love scene doesn't compare to what they usually show us - unless it's cable TV, it's always covered by sheets, dim lighting etc (and sometimes even cable shows get prude about it).
And I've watched more tns then I care to admit, too - I don't remember many scenes as revealing and HOT as this one.
Telemundo does it more often as far as I can tell.

Talking about how hot the scene was, after watching several times, just for the sake of research as the rest of you (obviously), I noticed that the kisses weren't real, as in - no tongue was being used. Am I mistaken?
Because I distinctly remember some hot, very REAL kisses between SN and CdlF in Amor Bravio, but their love scenes were not as naughty.
So maybe they were ok with real kissing, but not so much nudity? (I'm mostly thinking about the ladies, since for them it's more difficult).

Maria de Andrade,

I couldn't have said it better myself "Loved Ale's little smile of triumph toward the end of the romp. Sebastian Rulli, is for me, the sexiest man alive. At least, this season!"

Nanette:
I will try to find the scene you are inquiring about with Montse and Ale.

Lila & Susanlynn:
Glad to see that you joined the six minute club. Loved your comments, and loved the lyrics Lila.

Did anyone notice what BM told Adolfito when he went into her bedroom to say goodbye? She said that she was 'too much woman', 'soy mucha mujer' when he asked her to go with him. She said she had what it took to catch any guy she wanted. HA! She really thinks she's hot stuff. It's more like she would DO ANYTHING to get a guy. I CAN NOT STAND HER! NEXT!

Adriana- I remember with Amor Bravio, which had sensual but tame love scenes, that Uni even edited any bits where we would see Camila's bare back. There was no butt or side boob showing, just her back was enough for them to bring out the scissors. Sortilegio, however, had very strong scenes like the one chopped last night, and that was not edited down so severely.

Vivi, I only watched Sortilegio on and off, so I don't remember the love scenes, but I guess it has to do with the actors doing them and the overall tone of the tn.
AB love scenes were pretty low key, but the kissing, I loved!

Silvia Navarro has no problem with nudity. She has done racier scenes in Montecristo and MEPS than the ones she did in AB. She has also been partially nude in films.

Adriana Noel,

I don't think I saw any tongue in the kisses between Montse and Ale either. Their chemistry is so hot I don't think it mattered. The caresses and the whole flow of the scene was good enough for me. A little tongue is ok, but you have to be careful because if you start French kissing it can sometimes look messy and sloppy on TV.

Nanette:
I have looked over Thursday and Friday's epi's, but can not find the scene you were asking about. Are you sure they were in the bedroom, or was it maybe the living room? Let me know.
