Lo Que La Vida Me Robó, #76, 2-26-2014: Alejandro has a new attitude and maybe DIM does, too; José-Luis gets his hopes up again...only to have them dashed again

In Almonte Beach House, Agua Azul, Alejandro and Montserrat comfort Rosario after her recounting of the sad story of her abuse and betrayal by the incredibly evil Benjamin Almonte.  Alejandro vows to make up for all the suffering Rosario endured, declaring, too, that his mother is perfect with or without the new clothes and grooming standards, and he’s proud of her for having struggled and lived in spite of having endured such terrible and unjust treatment.  Rosario says that having Alejandro was worth everything, and she wants nothing else.  With Ale and Montse now, Rosario is the happiest woman in the world. Loving group hug time!

All happy families are alike...
(Would Tolstoy have been so sure about this if he'd watched TNs?)

... each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way:

At Mansion Mendoza, another mother and son have a much less endearing conversation: Gracie wants to know what happened with DIM and Pedro and doesn't want DIM to hide things from her.  DIM tells her that he told Adolfo who told Pedro about how he (DIM) might or might not be an Almonte heir, and Gracie get mad at him for being inept. DIM is back at Gracie quickly and tells her what he does or doesn't do is nothing compared to what gossip-mongers in Agua Azul are saying about Gracie herself and the crazy, verging-on-incestuous familial relations of the Almonte-Mendoza clan:  Gracie sold her own daughter to her lover’s son who might actually be the half-brother of Gracies's son which would make her son and son-in-law half-brothers and her daughter the wife and sister-in-law...etc.

Thanks to you, lady, I may actually be my own grandpa

Gracie claims she doesn’t care, that she’s rather be the talk of the town than poor.  Besides, all families have their dirty secrets to hide.  She walks out in a huff, leaving DIM to comment to her retreating backside, “Mommy dearest, you’re not going to see one peso of that money.”

Hacienda Almonte:
Hacienda Almonte, Where Misery Decidedly DOES NOT Love Company

Esmeralda and María sit in the living room, each lost in their own sad memories.  María remembers bitterly the conversation she overheard of Alejandro promising Montserrat that nothing had happened between him and María.  He tried, he admits, out of anger and jealousy over Montse, but he says it didn’t work because it was only Montse he loved, missed, and wanted with him every night.  At the same time, Esme remembers her conversation with Refugio after she'd been fired from her job at La Escondida (thanks in part to his efforts) and he encouraged her to teach dancing instead.  She thanked him for loving her and told him that as long as she had him it was all that was important.

Still in her own reverie, María cries:  “I lost him forever!”
“Me, too!” cries a bruised and battered Esme.
Aware that they are not talking about the same thing at all, Maria asks her, “What happened to you?”
“Nothing,” says Esme. “And to you?”
“Nothing,” says María and walks out.

House of José-Luis and Angélica, Agua Azul:  An emotional Refugio tells J-L that every day he’s more anguished about Esmeralda.  He needs some news of her.  J-L wants to know if Refugio has looked for her, and Refugio insists he has looked everywhere. The woman at the club hasn't heard anything since Esme told her that she (Esme) was giving up exotic dancing to be with Refugio, and Refugio recalls how he ended his last conversation with Esme on the phone and feels terrible.  J-L agrees that Refugio last phone call with Esme was pretty rough and that maybe she decided to leave town.  Refugio is still worried, though, and tells J-L about the time he came to visit Esme when he and J-L were hiding at the hacienda, and he found that Esme had been beaten up, though she would never tell him who did it.  He is worried the same thing has happened now.  Refugio swears if it did he’s not going to let it pass again without doing something about it.  J-L says that maybe that guy came looking for her Esme went into hiding to avoid him.
“Where, Where?”   Refugio wants to know.  “I won’t have any peace until I find her again.”

Dinner Table, Hacienda Almonte:  Esmeralda makes a misguided attempt at conversation with María, reflecting that since María is at the hacienda this must mean Alejandro’s back together with Montserrat.  Esme thinks this is great—Ale and Montse deserve to be happy after all they’ve been through.  But María uses this as an opportunity to show the crazy and claims that Montse stole Alejandro from her—took everything--and that all that Montse deserves is to be the most unhappy woman in the world.  In fact, María’s going to dedicate her life to making this happen.  Esme and the servant exchange “Qué the hell?” looks, but oblivious to having lost all appearances sanity, María goes on, saying that the money Ale got from Benjamin Almonte changed Ale, even though her father said it wouldn’t.  Ale bought a wife, but María hopes (Ojalá!) that Ale might become poor again, so he’d see that Montse and her family would want nothing to do with him—they’d just send him to the devil.  This seems to give María an new evil idea as she reflects that if this happened, he would then see who really loves him and come back to her.  Esme has a Wow, this chick has really lost it look.

I think it might be safer to have dinner with Pedro Medina

Beach House Almonte, Agua Azul:  Marcario, Dominga, and Padre Anselmo are admiring Rosario’s new, mother-of-the-hacienda-owner look.  Padre A. throws in an un-priestly wolf whistle to show he’s impressed with how well Rosie has cleaned up.

Padre A. and Rosario--the plot line we need to get to 200 episodes?

Padre says Rosario can’t know how happy he is that Rosario finally decided to tell Alejandro the truth about being his mother.  Here, Dominga is shocked again because she had no idea about this latest development. Mac says he’ll take her into the kitchen and explain everything.

With Dominga and Mac gone, Padre Anselmo and Rosario sit down and discuss the situation at length.  Padre A. says he doesn't need to ask Rosario to know that Ale was crazy with happiness when he found out the news.  They comment that many things have happened, and Padre remembers that Ale was in a rage when he left the hacienda and nearly killed a man, but notes that time in jail affected him deeply and that Ale seems truly repentant.  Rosario reflects that it’s a good thing that J-L didn’t die and also that he didn’t press charges again Ale.  Padre A. seems to think this was the right thing to do because J-L is guilty, too:  J-L lied, hid at the hacienda, worked as the capataz, and befriended Ale only for the purpose of stealing away Montse.  J-L is hardly innocent, much less a victim.  Rosario says that the important thing is that Ale realized all the errors he committed and wants to make things right.  Padre comments that he supposes that Ale asked forgiveness of Montse, too.  Smiling Rosario says and not only this—“He even divorced her!”  Not yet in on the joke, Padre A. looks shocked, “¿Que?”

Back in Casa J-L and Angélica, the conversation has shifted from Refugio’s woman problems to J-L’s.  J-L tells Refugio that he heard that Ale and Montse just signed divorce papers and you what this means?  It means that she’s free!  Yes, but YOU’RE NOT, Refugio reminds him.  But she still loves me, J-L declares.  Clearly exasperated, Refugio tells J-L to pone tus pies sobre la tierra basically, get his feet back on solid ground.  J-L promised to be with Angélica for the time that she has left.  He reminds J-L that Angie stayed with him all day and night while he was in the hospital and now he’s just going to leave her when she needs him?  J-L gets offended and claims he can’t believe Refugio would think he (J-L) would ever do something like that. But Refugio has been through this before and knows better:

“Brother,” Refugio tells him, pointedly, “you’ve already done a lot of stupid things for Montse, and it wouldn’t surprise me if you did more.”

J-L says he’s not thinking of abandoning Angie, but think that if Montse loves him, she’ll wait for him.

Mansion Mendoza:  Very happy and in-love Alejandro and Montse walk arm-in-arm and hand-in-hand as Montse thanks Ale for bringing her home.  He tells her he doesn’t like saying goodbye to her and says that her place and their son’s place is with him (Alejandro) now.  She says she knows this, but as long as María is still living under Ale’s roof, she (Montse) prefers to live in her old home.  He understands and promises that by the day of the baptism, he will have that sorted out.

Alejandro reminds her that they still need to decide who will be he godparents of little Lauro.  Montse says that she had thought it would be DIM and Josie, but that she doesn’t think things aren't going well with them now:  DIM stayed in his old room last night, but Montse hasn’t had a chance to talk to him yet about what's going on.  Ale says they have to think of someone else.  Nadia?  Montse suggests.  Ale says that would be okay if Victor could be the godfather, but that he (Ale) can’t stand that Pedro Medina.

Well, we could always ask María....

At this moment, Tía Carlotta comes running in telling them she’s got to talk to them about a delicate matter.  Montse wants to know if it’s about little Lauro and if he’s okay.  Carlotta says yes, he’s fine, but tells them the story about how she was out in the garden alone with Lauro when suddenly María came up, gave Carlotta a big conk on the head with a rock and tried to take the baby away!  Thank god Padre Anselmo, Mac, and Dominga appeared just at that moment, or who knows what would have happened.  Ale and Montse both looked shocked and distraught.  Montse says she’s got to see her son and runs out, followed by Ale and Tía.

In his crib, little Lauro is safe and sound and being watched over by the another servant.  Carlotta comments that the baby is okay, but Montse is upset that Tía didn’t let them know sooner and Tía says that she didn’t want to worry them, but that they have to do something to prevent María from doing something like that again—“That woman is crazy dangerous!”  Tía declares.  Montse shows her continued frustration with Ale’s blind spot for María and says she hopes that he finally realizes that everything María does is to try to manipulate him.  She’s capable of anything!  Ale asks Montse to please calm down and not to worry.  He promises he’ll make sure that María won't get close to their son again.  Seemingly eager to revel in her new romantic interest, Tía tells them that she has informed Police Chief Basurto who has promised that he’ll make sure María doesn’t get close to any of them again.  The police are already looking for her.

At that same moment in Pedro’s New Trophy Mansion, Agua Azul, Police Chief Basurto is filling Pedro in on the situation with crazy María.  The shoe drops for Pedro who comments that she must be the niece of Juventino, and that, since they both share the same bad blood, María might be useful to them.  He wants to talk María as soon as Basurto finds her.

Nadia enters with a tray, saying she took the liberty of making some coffee for them.  Still convinced that Basurto and Pedro are lovers, she notes that Basurto is always around and comments to Pedro how just the other day, Basurto was saying such wonderful things about his admiration for Pedro that it made her jealous.  Oblivious to the insinuation, Pedro takes it all in as if it’s to be expected, but Basurto looks uncomfortable as Nadia comments that it seems that Pedro and Basurto have something stronger going on than just a work relationship.  Pedro just tells her that, yes, he and Basurto are doing some business together and that every day their relationship is getting closer.  Nadia says, great, and that she didn’t mean to interrupt them and will let them keep talking.  Pedro, sighs, takes a swig of his drink.  Basurto toasts Pedro, saying, “Salud,” but his look seems to suggest he’s doing some serious weighing of options.
Should I destroy him...or make out with him?

Kitchen, Beach House Almonte:  Macario enters, commenting to Dominga that she only just arrived but she’s already cooking!  Dominga says that cooking relaxes her, but then goes on to state how surprised she was to learn about Rosario being Ale’s mother and also gets upset at Marcario for not telling her sooner.  Mac says Rosario made him promise to be discrete, and he couldn’t just tell the whole world.  Dominga says she’s not the whole world, but Mac asks her not to be mad at him and promises that he won’t keep secrets from her any more.  As a type of punishment, she makes him peel the potatoes.

They sit at the table and gossip for a while as Dominga says it was also an ugly surprise to realize that Montse’s mother was the same woman who was the lover of Don Benjamin all those years, and she wonder if Ale knew when he married Montse.  Mac says, of course, Ale had to know.  Dominga says that Mac was gone for a long time, but that Gracie visited Don B. at least once a month without fail.  She wonders if Mac had much to do with Gracie when he worked at the hacienda, and he says no, at least no more than anyone who was working there and he doubts that Gracie would remember him….

However, he says, changing course as he remembers something himself, there was ONE TIME many years ago when this woman (Gracie) asked him for help.
For what, Dominga wants to know.
But Mac gets defensive here and back tracks and says why are we talking about this?  Here, Dominga gets mad again and says Mac promised not to hide things from her any more, but Macario seems nervous and suddenly fearful, asks Dominga not to be angry, and runs out of the kitchen praising her cooking genius again to try to change the subject.

At the same time in Mansion Mendoza, said woman, the ex-lover of Don Benjamin, Graciela Mendoza, happens to be thinking about Macario.   She reflects to herself that Juventino told her that Mac had left and gone far away, that he was probably even dead.  She doesn’t understand what happened….

SEPARATED AT BIRTH?
Gracie's EVIL EYE

UNBLINKING EYE of Sauron

As coincidence would have it, Gracie’s eye drama is interrupted by the voice of Alejandro as he suggests to Montserrat at just that moment that Macario and Dominga could be the godparents of little Lauro.  Montse thinks that’s a good idea and comments that both Mac and Dominga care about Alejandro a lot.  He tells her that they both care about Montse, too.

But Gracie is not having any of this interrupts Ale and Montse to say that she doesn’t want two servants being the godparents of her grandson.  Imagine what people will say!  Montse tells Gracie not to meddle in things that don’t concern her, and, besides, Montse and Ale don’t care what people say.  Anyway, that’s nothing compared to the scandal there will be when everyone realizes that her (Montse’s) husband and brother are actually half-brothers themselves!

Gracie stands her ground at this attack and is back at Montse, proclaiming that it’s not important to her (Gracie) what bad names people call her, but that Montse can’t imagine how much more it hurts her (Gracie) to know what people are saying about Montse.  Everyone thinks that Montse cheated on Ale with another man and that this is the reason that Ale tried to kill J-L.  Newly gallant Ale comments that with time these rumors will end.  Gracie thinks it would be a good idea for Montse to accept the offer that Angélica made—it would be a way to quiet people down.

“What offer?” Ale wants to know.

Cue ominous potential jealous rage background music.

“You mean you didn’t tell your husband?” Gracie says to Montse.
“No,” says Montse, quickly.  “I thought it was a silly idea.”
“Well if you’re not going to tell him, I am,” announces Gracie, angrily, and proceeds to tell Ale that Angie asked Montse if Angie and J-L could be the godparents of little Lauro.
Seemingly nervous, Montse tells Ale that, of course, she said no, and suggests they go outside, leaving Gracie rolling her eyes and calling Montse an idiot.

Outside the house, Montse asks Ale if what Gracie told him annoyed him.  She is seems worried that this mere mention of J-L will start Ale down the dark path of rage and jealously again.  But new attitude Ale stuns Montse and says, no, it’s actually it’s the opposite, and he is even wondering if they should accept Angie’s offer.

Cue sweet, understanding background music instead.

Reasonable, sane, even generous responses may be triggered by change of soundtrack

Montse looks at Ale, surprised but clearly pleased.

Ale goes one for a bit saying that he knows that Montse and Angie are friends and that, too, J-L will always have feelings for Montse.  Ale thinks it’s better just to accept this.  Besides, Ale wants to show Montse that he has confidence in her now and that he knows that he’s (Ale's) the one she loves and has chosen to be with in life.  Montse thanks him and tells him he can’t imagine how happy this makes her to hear him say this, but she still thinks they shouldn’t accept.  Think about it he urges—also he notes that if they accept, it will calm down the rumor mill always grinding away in Agua Azul.  Maybe look from Montse to end the scene.

Casa de Angélica and José-Luis:  J-L is resting and recuperating on the sofa as Angie enters to check on him.  She wants to know how he is and he says that everyday his wound hurts him less.  She asks when he’s going to return to work, and he says that he still has a few more days of free time and kisses her.  Good, she comments then we can stay together all the time.  He says that tomorrow he has to go to the Naval Base to sign some papers but that he should be home before midday.  She says she’ll have dinner waiting for whenever he wants.  She kisses him again and then leaves, but he looks pensive and, though we don’t get an eyeball scene to know for sure, we still suspect that he is back to his old bad habits and is thinking of Montse.

Warning to J-L:  The goodwill you earned from the Patio depends entirely on your loving this woman

Mansion Mendoza:  Montse is looking at a photo of herself and her dear papá, as DIM enters.  He asks her how dating her ex-marido Ale is going, but she says it would be better for DIM to tell her what’s going on with him and Josefina, noting that he slept at chez Mendoza last night and is still here today.  DIM says he left Josefina.  Montse tells him that it’s too bad he doesn’t understand Josefina’s worth, that he’s never going to find someone who loves him as much as she does.  DIM tells Montse that what’s happening with Montse now, isn’t so different from what’s happening to him.  What do you mean, Montse wants to know.

He says that Montse is getting divorced from her husband because she was forced to marry him—what begins badly ends badly—but now she wants to start all over with Alejandro, yes?

Yes, says Montse, but what does that have to do with you?

DIM says that, like Montse, he was also forced to marry to preserve the lofty position of the family but there are differences:  all the tricks he played on Josefina.  What he doesn’t understand is why, after all that’s happened, Josefina doesn’t hate him.  Montse says love forgive all and that Josefina can forgive him because she loves him.  DIM says he doesn’t know if it’s love or something else.  Montse wants to know why DIM left Josefina.  DIM says it’s because he can't stand being around her or anyone, and that he’s not well—and much less after everything he did.

Here Montse looks surprised at DIM’s tone of regret, and DIM comments that everything has changed for him.  He asks Montse if he can confess something to her, and she is all ears.  DIM says that if he is entitled to some of the money from the Almonte estate then he wants to do something with it to be useful to someone, something more worthwhile.

And after I open some free spay-neuter clinics, I'll buy a fun yellow jeep and drive poor children around!

Still DIM seems flustered and not entirely at ease with his more generous impulses, and admits he’s not sure exactly what he’s saying.
Finally he tells Montse, “What I want is begin again, like you.”
Big smile from Montse.

Next Day, Hacienda Mendoza:  Doorbell rings and DIM opens the door to find José-Luis!  DIM is surprised, but not unpleased  and J-L says he comes in peace, and they even shake hands and exchange some genuine pleasantries.  J-L asks after Montse and DIM says she’s not there because she went out with Alejandro.  J-L smiles, thinking DIM is fooling with him again, and asks DIM what he’s talking about since he knows that Montse and Ale just got divorced.
And so you came running thinking it was for you? asks DIM.
No, walking, says J-L with a smile.
How’s YOUR WIFE?  DIM wants to know.

Gracie enters, demanding to know who’s at the door.  DIM comments that he’s with his friend J-L and Gracie shocks the hell out of everyone by telling DIM to invite J-L to come in.  Gracie slathers on the warm welcome, claiming that Lieutenant Álvarez is now the son-in-law of one of her best friends, and she ask J-L if he minds if she calls him J-L.  She offers J-L something to drink, but he says no.  She tells J-L that her daughter is out, but that she’ll be very pleased to tell Montse he came looking for her.  She notes that he must have heard about the divorce and assumes that he heard from Amelia, and J-L looks suspicious at her comment but says just thanks again and leaves, noting also to DIM that he seems more mature.

DIM turns on her when J-L is gone and wonders what Gracie is up with all the fake sweetness and light and lies—What hypocrisy!  he claims.  He knows Gracie told Amelia on purpose so that she (Amelia) would tell J-L.  Gracie maintains that DIM has a lot to learn, and that Angélica has one foot in the grave and that when she dies, J-L is going to be the richest man in Agua Azul and that may be he'll able to save them from ruin:  after all, Alejandro paid off all the Mendoza debt to marry Montse.  Ever one step ahead in greed, Gracie now wonders what J-L would pay to have her (Gracie)  separate Montse from Ale.  Gracie would have to negotiate but speculates it would be worth her while.

Fed up with her, DIM walks off, telling Gracie, “You’re sick!” but Gracie refuses to be shamed in anything and just calls after DIM, “We’re just the same, you know!  Don’t forget it!”

Mansion of Josefina:  Josefina has just given a somewhat reluctant Adolfo a check to start out on their plan to make DIM jealous.  He says he really doesn't want it, but he needs it, so he'll accept it.  She tells him it’s only for half the amount, and she says that Adolfo will get the rest after he does his work.  Adolfo wants to know when they’re going to being and she says this Saturday at little Lauro’s baptism.  Adolfo asks with some hope if they’re going to go together like a couple?  She says no way, that in the eyes of the world (aka those gossip-loving Agua Azuleros) she’s still married, and that that won’t look good. Adolfo says he gets it that at the party, she wants him to seek her out, talk to her, etc.  She says exactly, and she’ll laugh at his conversation and even pretend to be enjoying Adolfo’s company.

Adolfo gets offended and wonders--Doesn’t she enjoy his company?

Frankly, no, she says.  All you do is talk about yourself and that’s not interesting.

Shocked to find he is not the most titillating conversationalist in Agua Azul

Adolfo seems hurt but agrees to do what she wants—however, he says if stupid DIM puts a hand on him again he won’t stand for it.  Josefina says she wants nothing rough to happen at the baptism—if they resort to fighting they have to do it in a place where no one sees them, and what’s more Adolfo has to allow DIM to win--it's important for a man.  No way, Adolfo says, but Josefina insists he has to.  That’s why she’s PAYING him.

Casa de Angie and J-L.  Angie opens the front door for J-L who immediately sees that Montse has come to pay them a visit.  Montse tells J-L she can see he’s better, and Angie leaves them to get some coffee for them all.   After she leaves, J-L wants to know how everything is going for Montse and says with some meaning that they need to talk since he just found out about her divorce.  Aware of his overly eager tone, Montse immediately lets him know that she didn’t come alone and that Alejandro is there, too.  J-L looks confused and wants to know why, but at just that moment, Alejandro himself enters, informing J-L that they came looking for him and asks where Angie is.  Montse says Angie went for coffee and says she’s going to help her, leaving J-L and Alejandro alone.  They give each other a manly stare-down.

Back at Josefina’s, Adolfo is leaving the house with his check in hand.  Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t see DIM, who snatches the check from Adolfo’s hands and wants to know what it is.  Alfie brags that what DIM couldn’t get in seven months of marriage he (Alfie) got in five minutes with a few kisses.  DIM tells Alfie he’s not getting any money from Josefina and, what’s more, he better not come near her again.

Alfie tells DIM he can’t tell him what to and besides, why is it important to him?  DIM tells Alfie that no one is going to hurt Josefina again, and Alfie tells DIM that he’s wrong, that all Josefina wants is a little love and that she deserves it and what’s more that DIM wasn’t exactly satisfying her.  DIM tears up the check, and they start fighting but Josefina appears, screaming at Adolfo to cool it.  Frustrated, Adolfo refrains from walloping DIM but informs him that it doesn’t matter that DIM tore up the check since he (Alfie) will just come back for another one.

Alone with DIM, Josefina informs him that he doesn’t live there anymore and that the next time he comes he should knock on the door--also she wants the house keys that he has back.  He wonders if it's to give them to Adolfo, and she tells DIM that what she does isn’t his problem.  He maintains that as long as they’re married she IS his problem, and he doesn’t like her giving money to Adolfo.  She says it’s only a loan and that she’s only helping Alfie out since Pedro is pressing him for the money that Alfie owes him.  DIM comments that she hasn’t learned anything even after what happened, but she counters him and says, oh yes, she has.  DIM taught her all too well that no man would ever want to be with her for what she is and that if she wants companionship or even a little love, she’s going to have to give a check for it in exchange for it.  She walks away, leaving DIM alone and with a sad and exasperated expression on his face.

Back to Casa J-L and Angie, J-L says to Alejandro that he doesn’t understand what Alejandro is doing there.  Ale explains that he and Montse have a proposal to make to Angie and J-L, that this is why they came and were waiting for J-L.
“A proposal?”  J-L asks, still confused.  “Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought that you and Montse had just signed divorce papers.”
“Yes,”  Alejandro admits, unperturbed.  “We’re legally divorced.”

At this moment, Montse walks in and comments that both she and Alejandro are happy about the divorce.  Angélica says that it’s all so romantic, and it looks like J-L is slowly starting to get that things between Ale and Montse are a lot better than he was hoping, when Montse suggests that they all sit down, awkwardly balancing their coffee cups, which rattle in their saucers.  Ale tells J-L that some time ago, Angélica made an offer to Montse and that, after thinking it over, he and Montse have decided to accept it.  Alejandro asks, or better yet Alejandro AND Montserrat ask, if J-L and Angie will be the godparents of little Lauro.

So we're all on the same page now, right?  I'm the Alpha Male on this TN.

Fine by me!
Reluctant acceptance of probably permanent Beta Male status

“I love the idea!” chimes in angelic Angélica after Ale's request.  “I was so happy when I found out.”

J-L says nothing, but doesn't seem as thrilled as Angie.  Also, he has clearly already noted and is not liking the obvious affectionate coupledom of Alejandro and Montserrat and is looking upset before Alejandro continues with the rest of his and Monte's good news:

“What’s more, Montserrat and I are going to take advantage of the occasion to get married again.”

A pensive-seeming look from beautiful Montserrat to end the episode.

SEPARATED AT BIRTH?

The original

Avances:  Jealous J-L punches some poor, innocent pillows, no doubt imaging they are Alejandro's handsome face;  Alejandro and Montserrat kiss a lot--Hooray!; J-L and María meet and seem to realize they have similar life goals.

Oh my gosh, Julia!! What an incredibly detailed and nuanced work!!! To have photos is the icing on the cake!

Such detail with excellent flow. I especially enjoy the subheadings. Absolutely first rate and a million thank yous!

I said it yesterday and I will say it again tonight. JL is really making me angry. Angelica does not deserve this. I am shocked at how quickly he forgets that it was Angelica's generosity that changed his life forever. He is one ungrateful jerk. If he really does team up with The Whore Maria, then I truly don't care what happens to JL.

This was fantastic, Julia! Thank you!!!

Fatima

Great work, Julia. The captions are right on target.

I agree with Fatima; if JL teams up with Whore Maria I'm totally done with him. I had been hoping that he survives this story but if he tries to break up Monserrat and Alejandro again, that's it.

I still don't trust Dimitrio, but I'd back him in not giving his puta madre one red centavo.

More tomorrow; I'm turning in.

Julia thanks for your recap. I so enjoy the fact that Caray members like tns and also have other similar interests. Your earlier reference to P&P and now the pic of Sauron's evil eye made me smile! Your captions are hilarious too.

I'm with Fatima and UA on JL. If JL links up w/Malria he may not make it to the end of this tn. Why does this tn insist on the "galans" being so questionable?!! The second tier guys, Victor and Macario, are so much better.

Julia, thank you so very much for the wonderful recap and your fantastic screen shots with best ever, hilarious captions. Thanks to you I had plenty of great laughs tonight. YOUR own captions are, I am sure, much more clever than the actual dialogue. I especially had to laugh at EZ Basurto's caption and the "I'm the alpha male" series at the end. Also, comparing our Montse to Marcia is pure brilliance. Well done! I love how your mind works and I truly appreciate the care and time you took with your recap.

Julia R:

This is a fantastic recap, complete with marvelous screencaps, sparkling captions underneath and wonderful detail in the recap! Thank you so much!

I am loving this new relationship with Monse and Ale. He is atoning slowly but surely. I also liked him facing JL without all the drama.

I too am hoping JL does not continue to pine for Monse, or hook up with BM. That would be too much and then he'd be dead to me. I want him to concentrate on that sweet Angel he is married to and give her the best of himself for the time she has left.

I am enjoying Fina's little wicked game she is playing. So far it is working, but I really think Addled does feel something for her.

I have to laugh at Dimmy he is so dazed and confused. I hope Monse helps him along the way of "finding" himself and I really like his continuing dissing of Graceless. You go Dimmy.

I laughed, I know I shouldn't have, but I did when Esme and BM were sitting in that room crying. It was the two sob sisters. I also like the look on Esme's face when she realized that BM has gone over to crazy town. I hope Esme tells Ale what BM said, and I hope Refugio finds her soon.

Graceless never quits does she? Money, money and more money. She is the most disgusting mother I have ever seen on a TN.

So what is the secret of helping Graceless that Mac knows? Hmmmmmm......

The captions were just hilarius "Perhaps we could ask Maria". "Dining with Pedro Medina is safer". "Maybe im going to be my own grandpa" I laughed so hard

JL and Maria meeting wont bring nothing well, will he step to the dark side?

Julia,
WOW! What a detailed recap. I enjoyed every word of it. Especially the screen shots. Those were awesome.

Even though I absolutely loved all the screen shots, I think I have to say that my favorite was "Should I destroy him...or make out with him?" After reading that one I almost choked on the juice I was drinking.

ITA with Fatima, UA, Karen & Madelaine that JL is getting on my last nerve. And with the avances showing him talking to BM, now I'm getting nervous. If he joins forces with BM I don't know if he can be redeemed. Don't do it JL!

Graceless shouldn't be called a mother. A real mother wouldn't do the things she does. It is incredible how much she loves money. She is obsessed with it. I really hope she doesn't try to break up Montse and Ale. They are finally free to be together and she's going to come in and ruin everything. I can't stand Graceless!

I liked the fact that Ale told his mother she was perfect and loved her no matter what she was wearing, or whether or not she wore make-up. Awww. Also happy that Tia Carlota told Montse and Ale about BM almost kidnapping Laurito. It's about time!

The love triangle between Fina, Dimi and Addled is very curious. I love watching those scenes. Dimi keeps demonstrating how much he cares for Fina. In his own way, but he does care for her. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I am loving all the Ale and Montse scenes. We are finally getting to see them as a real couple. Having good times together, but also getting through some rough patches. This is what they needed. To be together because they freely chose to be, and not because they felt obligated.

As always I could write a book with everything else I have to say, but I am struggling to stay awake. More commenting later today.

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

Wow Julia...since we love speculating about relationships on this blog line, I'm thinking you're the long-lost daughter of Carlos. Those captions were awesome, worthy of the CaptionMeister himself.

I could have listed all of them but my seven tops (Seven is such a symbolic number)are:

Thanks to you lady I may be my own grandpa.

Padre A and Rosario--the plot line we need to get to 200 episodes.

Should I destroy him or make out with him?

Separated at birth?

Reasonably rare, even generous responses may be triggered by change in soundtrack. [I've often wished that MY life had a soundtrack.]

And after I open some free spray-neuter clinics, I'll buy a fun yellow jeep and drive poor children around. [alas, Demitrio will never fill out a pair of wet white pants like our Wm. Levy]

So we're all on the same page now, right? I'm the Alpha male in this TN. Fine by me. (Angelica)

DO NOT LIKE THE WAY THE WRITERS ARE MESSING WITH THE J.L. CHARACTER. BUT LOVE THE RECAP AND CAPTIONS! THANKS, JULIA.

Oh, man, Julia, this is going to be one humdinger of a recap, I don't have time to read it now but I am going to be nipping away at it all day on IPAD as I run around doing my errands. You really caught that glint in Graceless's eyes as she makes her plans to ruin everyone's lives to support herself in the manner which she has become accustomed.
I don't know about anyone else out her on the Patio, but I was yelling at the TV when Ale reassured Monse, "I won't let Maria get near the baby again." What does that mean, Ale?? We all know she will still be trouble.
Well, looking forward to reading this marvelous recap!

Julia- Magnificent recap and screen caps!

I ditto all of Judy's comment. I thought of Carlos as I read your witty captions. That's a sign of true talent. :)

I guess we see how these writers are going to stretch this out. They are going to make JL a villain. How disappointing. I feel so bad for Angie. She doesn't deserve that.

Mads, I also laughed when we were shown the two weepy sisters.

Julia, thanks for the entertainment this a.m. Your recap was very insightful and very very funny. My favorite quotes:
"I may actually be my own grandpa."
". . . safer to have dinner with Pedro Medina."
"Should I destroy him or make out with him?"
"Our princess" and "the original"

My favorite scenes were those with Esme and BM at the hacienda with them both thinking back about the past and then Esme's "WOW!" when she realizes that BM really is crazy.

My least favorite scene was JL believing that since Montse is divorced that she will wait for him until Angelica is dead. I just like him less and less.

Looks from the promos that the BM crazy train is going to try to pick up JL and take him (as Demetrios said) to the "dark side." Pedro might be getting on that train, too. Yikes!

Another fun episode!

Jarifa

thanks so much, Julia, for your excellent retelling and the great captioned photos. I especially appreciate your recap because I fell asleep and only saw the last few minutes of this episode. This cold, gray , endless winter is making me lethargic.

I wish that we would have seen Ale getting some counseling from padre or someone . His turnaround was so abrupt after that angry, hallucinating street scene. Oh well, in telenovelaland, these things happen...unlike real life where people need a lot of help to change bad behaviors and often resist the help.

so, Judyb! the soundtrack of your life. Maybe we should all pick a tune appropriate for our soundtracks ! What would yours be ?

Pedro already is on that train. As soon as we knew he never even boinked Nadia. I am certain there is a physical cause for that and his evil stems from the knowledge that even the lowliest male in town has that advantage over his disability.

Avances can be misleading and that is often deliberate.

Maria should have already been in jail. If Adolfo would only speak up she'd be there now. However, if Pedro wishes to use her against Alejandro Maria being in jail would probably not last long regardless.

Josefina needs her makeover ASAP. That lock of hair hanging down the right side has to be getting on the actress' last nerve, too.

Julia: The screen shots and captions - just great as is the recap.

JL and Maria together could be an alliance of two angry, crazy and dangerous characters.

Julia, you struck the mother lode - this was pure gold. The screen shots were amazing, every single one (like Karen, thought the Sauron comparison was great). The summary was sensational.

As Sylvia noted your captions were inspired and great fun: "Thanks to you, lady, I may actually be my own grandpa", "Hacienda Almonte, Where Misery Decidedly DOES NOT Love Company", "I think it might be safer to have dinner with Pedro Medina", "Warning to J-L: The goodwill you earned from the Patio depends entirely on your loving this woman" and the stellar "Reluctant acceptance of probably permanent Beta Male status" were among my favorites.

"un-priestly wolf whistle (so glad he did that – I love when priests are portrayed as having a marvelous sense of humor)" and " Seemingly eager to revel in her new romantic interest" were more delectable cherries on the top.

Judy, I totally agree with your comments of yesterday and today regarding JL. I am beside myself with this convoluted plot twist. The writers lured us into their romance, seemingly promising us a happily ever after, (even if a relatively short one) and then turned on their heels and concocted this unholy mess. Agree with Fatima that if he does indeed consort with Maria, I am done with him. I hold out some small hope that he will regain his sanity, but I am nervous, I readily admit. Not really for us, but for Angie.

Madelaine, I agree Adolfo is smitten. I am enjoying every bit of his and Dim's long awaited realization that Fina is a jewel. Great fun.

Esme certainly has Maria's number. Let's hope she thwarts any unholy alliance Maria might seduce JL into undertaking. There are many interesting sub plots here. JL as a villain is not one of them. Sigh.

Julia, you rock!

Diana

Thank you Julia R! Love it, Love it all! The detail, the screen caps, the captions! The Maria and Esme scene was funny: never thought I'd get a chuckle from those two chicks. The glances exchanged between Esme and the maid were hilarious!

Loved Padre's wolf whistle and Gracie's crazy-eyed ramblings about how she could orchestrate rich widower JL's hook up with Montse was even funny. Gracie was lost in her own little money-grubbing world. She is shameless and ruthless!

Umph. Umph. Umph. Punching pillows hunh? Can sweat and a 5 o'clock shadow be far behind? And one of youze guys called it about an alliance between Maria and JL. Hoo boy! Looks like a lot of hackneyed silliness ahead!

Thank you again Julia R. for your wonderfully witty, funny, detailed recap!

Lila

Dear Fatima, Urban Anthropologist, Karen, Cap'n Sylvia, Mads, Demetrios, AuntyAnn, JudyB, Emarie, Vivi, Susanlynn, Pasafino, Diana, and Lila

Thanks so much for reading and commenting so quickly. It's a pleasure and honor to wake up and see that you all spent time reading this recap, even in the wee hours. I am so happy you enjoyed it and screen shots.

Vivi and Judy B: I am also very honored by the comparison to Carlos and not just because he's such a great writer. I was also flattered that you would assume that he could be MY father! Since we don't know each other's ages, it could very well be that I am HIS mother.

Carlos, I've been meaning to tell you that during the time I was unjustly imprisoned in San Quentin (women's section), I did find myself pregnant....

Thanks to all--I'm working this morning so may not get back to all of you, but I send good feelings to everyone.

Also Jarifa--thanks so much!

Best, Julie R.

Wow, Julia. Just wow!! Complete with pictures and great captions! What a recap.

Start off by saying I literally cheered when Dim muttered that his mother wouldn't get one peso of any money he gets. My fondest wish come true, and then the convo with Monse. Would love for these two to really become a life-line for each other. Let his long, slow redemption arc begin ( and I think somehow he will be the one who brings Graceless down.)

I can't wait to see a confrontation between Rosario and Graceless. I already see Rosario holding her head higher. Would be wonderful to see her become more of a gracious lady of the town and accepted and Rosario become more and more the butt of ridicule. Happy happy that would make me.

So yesterday I waxed frustrated that the writers wouldn't dare team up JL and Maria and that would just be a nasty thing to do his character. Well, I'll keep my speculations to myself from now on, because darn if it doesn't look like that's what's about to happen. I mean, really writers? Do we truly need JL to go a dark, ugly place, which also happens to be resided in my BSC herself, and be THAT kind of triangle adversary? So help me, we get a seduction scene with those two, and Angie is still around, JL's puss is going right on the patio dart board. (Not that I'm tempted to already put it there.) Someone can have my seat at the JL table because I'm guessing I won't want to be sitting there any time soon.

Daisynjay

Dear Julia R:

What a terrific job! Like your other adoring fans, I especially loved the Carlos-league captions. My personal fave:

"Should I destroy him or make out with him?"

AbFab, my dear! Thank you so much.

And may I go on record as saying that the idea of asking a dying woman and the intenso who wants to see your marriage crash and burn to be your baby's godparents is…MONKEY WRITER WORTHY. It is breathtakingly stoopid. Why don't they realize that if Graciela is pushing for it, it must be a terrible idea?

Jarifa, I also cracked up at Esmeralda's mouthed "Wow." The actress does the best and funniest reactions in the business. María gets all the dialogue in the scene, but it's that silent WOW that we remember.

Fatima, I hope you have your viewing issues resolved now and finally have had a chance to see the last two episodes for yourself. (I wonder why Hulu was so pokey in posting them…)

Graceless is pushing for that because she has the idea that JL and Monse will get back together after Angelica dies and she can then take Angelica's inheritance.

Ah, no.

If that had any chance of happening, JL should take a page from Dimitrio's book (he's not a dimwit on this one) and tell Graceless that she won't get a single peso from him. She is part of the reason he ended up in the stockade and the whole reason he could have died during his escape. She ruined his life at that point all for money she ended up not getting.

However....

JL and Angelica as the godparents would silence the gossip, especially when Monse and Alejandro get remarried. That would be the one good outcome.

Esmeralda needs to tell someone about her dinner with Maria and Adolfo needs to rat Maria out about the murder attempt. But it may already be too late for that.

Agree with all who are pleased as punch with the Ale and Montse reunion and moments. I have longed for them to stay together to fight the forces of eeevil!

Madeline, may I be a copycat and suggest a song for our love boids? Back Together Again

ITA Aunty Ann about Tia getting to tell the whole story about Maria, the rock, and the attempted kiddienap! I just knew somebody was going to faint, fart or fall down just as she was about to tell it! Yaaaay for passing up that passé plot ploy! Sheesh!

The subtle comedic coloring of the last two episodes are helping me not get my knickers all twisted when the simian script writers get loose. I've decided this is going to be a fun ride! And I always reserve the right to fuss!

Lila

JL and Angie being the padrinos will indeed silence the chismes but in the end it will only make stuff worse as JL will now be a daily part of their lives, you know the one Ale almost killed and has an never ending hatred for him? That might also be a use of clever strategy of "keep your friends close ,but enemies even closer" by Ale

Julia, I've read your amazing recap again. Gotta tell ya, it was great. I agree with all our Caraymates who've already said it; the captions on the photos were perfect and brought some much needed laughs!

From here on out, I will think of the "Unblinking eye of Sauron" EVERY time I see Graciela. She would probably have given Sauron a run for the money.

The writers need to get Tia Pru back in the game and she needs to go toe to toe with JL. She needs to either literally or verbally slap his face and get him to wake up. I don't know if the writers are setting us up for a fall, but if JL crosses over to the Dark Side with The Whore Maria, then his so called "love" for Montserrat is a LIE.

Like Urban, I am hoping that Angelica will be given a miracle, but to see her coughing up blood (and has she even seen any physician about this?!) is such a worrisome sign. Why aren't they being more proactive with her health? Has everyone just thrown in the towel?

NovelaMaven, I still have been unable to see the past two episodes and I am sure it is because Hulu has suddenly decided that it is in their best interests (Or those of Univision), to make one pay to see the episodes on Hulu Plus now.

As I said last night at the very last minute, this just FRIES me. I tried to catch an episode of CNN news several days ago and I now have to pay for that! It was like going to the Uvideos site where one has to have a cable provider in order to see the news online.

I bring these issues up only because it does hinder so many of us who are enjoying the TN to be able to see the episodes. This seems to be getting out of hand.

JudyB, is it my imagination or did this business with our TN no longer being available on Hulu vs Hulu Plus just change overnight or am I really losing it?!

Fatima

I think I first noticed it last week, Fatima. Mind you, I AM watching on HuluPlus. But I used to watch on the computer with Univision/com. which they pushed.

But now that seems to have disappeared. Or only arrives waaaaay late. And the HuluPlus version does not appear until the following afternoon. I may complain about what the writers are doing, but I like even less what the video folks are pulling!

Hi, Fatima. I know you're asking JudyB but I ended up getting Hulu+ because my cable provider wasn't in the listing on UVideos. I went ahead and signed up for Hulu+ though I've been watching this show live. Last nights ep is on Hulu+ and I like that there are a lot of old novelas I can go back and look at.

Sheesh! I remember when we laughed about it costing money to watch tv!

Lila

JudyB and Lila. Ok. I guess I will just have to break down and pay for Hulu Plus.

Yes, Fatima is a bona fide WHINER today. This is just NOT fair.

Fatima...off to pay off Hulu Plus.

When the only people you can think of to be godparents to your child are an exlovah and his sick wife, things are pretty bad. That brush with death seems to have made JL more obsessed withMony than ever. Please do not let him join Malria who seems to have rounded the bend to fullon BSC.

Yes, Gracie is shameless and ruthless...and also graceless and hopeless. I hope that she becomes careless and is hoisted on her own petard. So..both Amelia and Macario somehow "helped " her in the past. Did Mac do something with that poor bebe ?

I am glad that Josefina is taking control of the situation. It will be a long road ahead if dim really wants to be a better man.

May I make another song suggestion for Mony and Ale ? Perhaps a fitting choice might be " Reunited" by Peaches and Herb.

I am hoping that Esme is making mental notes about Malria slipping down the crazy slope and warns Mony and Ale or Refugio or SOMEONE. Why hasn't Adolfito told anyone about Malria and that big knife ? If he told Nadia! she would surely warn Mony.

I also do not understand the logic behind Adolfo not doing anything, maybe he is still hopelesely in love with La Malaria and is blinded by it.

Susanlynn, Reunited was my other choice and is excellent especially since in the song I recommended Donnie Hathaway sings "In silence, I waited, I missed you. . ." Well, we all know that doesn't apply to our Ale, does it?

Lila

the silence part, that is

Lila

"Reunited"...perfect!

I am going to go out on a limb here and sit for a while at JL's table (on my EZ Come EZ Go spinning chair) in the hopes that he will soundly REJECT any of BSC Maria's attempts to join forces. Stay strong my sweaty friend! Do not go to the dark side.

Wow! Julia, your recap is a real gem and I'm blown away by your photos and captions... the photos are so very well chosen and the captions... well I'm in awe and I'm flattered that Judy, Vivi, and NovelaMaven have compared our efforts. Your captions were all very clever making me laugh out loud... my personal favorite:

"Well, we could always ask María...."

Well done. Again...wow!

And then:

"Carlos, I've been meaning to tell you that during the time I was unjustly imprisoned in San Quentin (women's section), I did find myself pregnant...."

Heh heh...

Well, Dimitrio, Josefina, and Adolfo are my favorite threesome. I could picture them hijacking this TN early on and they have almost succeeded. What fun it is watching this play out. As Josefina's character continues to develop, those who didn't see Gancho can understand why those of us who did were so excited upon learning that Verónica Jaspeado would be in this TN. She is a comic genius.

I loved the scenes between Esmeralda and María. They are very good together. The thought of María teaming up with JL is exciting. I see fun times ahead.

Carlos

Have to say I've had Hulu Plus for more than a year now, and I use it all the time. I find that for some of the shows I like to watch on network TV, I can watch next day and miss a LOT of commercials. There is also a great library of shows from Europe and around the globe which I've indulged in. Some original programming too, like Netflix does.

It's one "pay per view" I actually have kept and don't mind the charge. The shape of things to come unfortunately.

Daisynjay

We should start a list of Maria’s crimes that have yet to be revealed to Ale and Monse. Somehow, I think that many of these things will be undiscovered, as the kidnapping attempt has now surpassed them. I was surprised Tia actually told Monse and Ale. After Padre, Mac, and Dominga just hung around chatting and cooking when they got to Ale’s house, like nothing had happened, I was sure everyone would just let it slide. Ale didn’t seem anywhere near outraged enough either, when he finally did hear.

Maria’s unrevealed crimes/bad deeds:
-Planting Monse’s pic and undies in JL’s room to incite Ale’s murderous rage.
-Turning Monse and Tia away when Monse came to speak to Ale.
-Burning Monse’s letter to Ale.
-Attempting to murder pregnant Monse with a kitchen knife.

Anything else?

Vivi in DC, I, too, was surprised at Alejandro's reaction (or lack thereof) at hearing about The Whore Maria's kidnapping attempt. Even more unbelievable was the Padre calling it a "tonteria" (really, Padre?!) and NO ONE in that threesome mentioning it when they got to the house. Your list looks good and one we need to keep going.

Daisynjay, thank you for the reassurance that Hulu Plus is a good "investment". I am hoping I will find some of my fave German detective stories on there as well.

I haven't said this in a while, but I want to thank this incredible community for the many wonderful observations/conversations we have had here. You are an amazing group of people.

Fatima

That would be all of the crimes i think.Adolfo is so blinded by Malaria ,he fails to tell Ale one crucial thing, the attempted murder! That would put her in jail for a long time that of course if the Corrupt Police wouldnt be as corrupt as they are and they would use the situation to their advantage.

Vivi are you counting skankery as well? How about dressing in his wife's stolen undies and then presenting herself in his bedroom ready for boinkage?

Or, how about stripping down naked and getting in the shower with Ale once again hoping for boinkage?

Lila

Lila- That's the stuff that's already known/revealed, including her stealing from Ale with Addled. All of those things were enough for Ale not to have made her his (sort of) mistress all these months-- the idiot. But the crimes/misdeeds I'm counting are the new stuff the protagonist don't know about yet.

Lilah...Those should be crimes , but they are just bad decisions and signs that Malria is...A CRAZY CHICK.

I thought of a good song for JL.." What a Fool Believes" by Michael Macdonald. It is perfect for JL because the line is "what a fool believes he soon sees." MM is one of my all time favorite singers.

Before he made her his sort-of mistress, Ale already knew:
-Maria was OBSSESSED with him and wanted to destroy his marriage.
-Maria made multiple inappropriate attempts to seduce him in his room, in his shower, on the couch, in the buff, in sexy undies, when he had been drinking. ALL THE TIME. ANYWHERE AND AVERYWHERE.
-Maria had LIED to him about helping Monse run away.
-Maria had STOLEN money from him in cahoots with Adolfo.

Obsessed, a proven liar and a thief, and yet he still ranted about her being the only person who loved him and who he could trust, and brought her into his marital bed. All the craziness she has done to him and his wife since, is on his head.

Vivi and Demetrios,

María may have intended to stab Montserrat at the concert but she didn't attempt to stab her. I'll concede that perhaps an attempt was thwarted by the arrival of Adolfo and the onset of labor. I wonder if it's a crime in Mexico to take a kitchen knife to a concert? Certainly not a crime big enough "...put her in jail for a long time..."

I contend that she's still redeemable. Don't forget that both JL and Refugio are guilty of murder and are both walking free and both still have their fans who don't even see their need for redemption.

Carlos

That should be everywhere, not averywhere. :)

OK, Carlos. I'll give you intended murder, vs attempted murder since she didn't get that far, thanks to Addled.

Carlos...I have very little respect for any of the three you mentionned. If I had nominate one candidate for redemption , it would be Refugio. Although he is certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer , he is a Boy Scout with a good heart and has gotten into a lot of trouble trying to help his BFF. He also seems to truly love Esme. I am just tired of JL. Sometimes you just have to let something go and MOVE On...NEXT. JL's obsession with Mony is making me weary. Basta. Stop beating that horse already. You made a commitment to Angie to make the rest of her short life happy. Focus. As for Malria, she is not a nice person. Can you name one good, kind thing that this girl has ever done ? I think that she is just too damaged to ever be redeemed. I worry more about her somehow teaming up with Pedro than JL who would never let her hurt Mony or Lauro.

That's great Susanlynn. . .love me some MM too! Is there a place in this novella for "Takin' it to the Streets" and "It Keeps You Running"?

Hello Patio Mates. HuluPlus got my show up by 11:30 this morning so was able to watch and must say I am blown away by what a marvelous CEO Graciela would have been. Man, she is SUCH a Strategic Thinker! Yowza. Keeps her eye on the ball, never falters, always have a backup plan, long-range projects. AWESOME! If she were president of Mexico, Hello Prosperity! Well for Graciela anyway. Come to think of it, that's how it's working now.

On a more cheerful note, I join Carlos and the rest of you in just DELIGHTING in the scenes with Josefina, Addled and Demetrio. Loved the little conversation about what a BORE Adolphito was. Just sublime.

This show has its delicious moments, in spite of the writers ramping up the evil and personal violence. And making JoséLuis such a schnook.

I always enjoy your defense of The Whore Maria, Carlos. This one was exceptionally good. Are you an attorney as well?

Fatima

JudyB, " Come to think of it, that's how it's working now."

You are on fire today, my friend!

Fatima

Still the "intended" murder should still warrant a restraining order with a gps tracker out on her to prevent her from threatening Monse or Lauro, she is a crazy time bomb waiting to explode. And i do think she would actually murder Monse if it wasnt for Adolfo there to stop her in the tracks.

And what Refugio did was self defence protecting a fellow comrade from danger, apperantly these killings are justifiable but nothing does justify him helping a fugitive..

Lila...let's give " Taking It to the Streets " to Malria. I wish that she would.

P.s. every time I open the Caraycaray page, I get to see the Rosario sandwich ! Ahhhhhh. She is on heaven in the worms of her family.

Worms ????.... That was supposed to be ARMS

Worms? Isn't that what we want for Malria? ;D

I think Ale's song to Maria should be "You're No Good" (as sung by Linda Ronstadt).

Susanlynn, I got quite a guffaw out of your device's typo. Worms indeed...yes for Maria! ITA Lila.

Demetrios,

"And what Refugio did was self defence protecting a fellow comrade from danger..."

while initiating the escape attempt of a prisoner (that fellow comrade) he was supposed to be escorting.

Please...

I'm much more willing to give a pass to JL for killing Loreto.

Carlos

Susanlynn...I forever will look at every hug on this show now as being in the WORMS of their loved one. Don't you just love auto-correct?? I'm amazed sometimes at the options that come up when I'm typing.

And love me some MM too. Met him long ago and he is the sweetest man. Handsome, sweet, sings like an angel...what was I talking about. Better get back to work.

yes, Sylvia....Linda it is . ..a perfect selection for Malria. I can hear Linda belting out that phrase over and over again.

Well these crimes are all forgotten now because of Prudencia. I do agree that JL escaping was very dumb and risky, they would have been roting in jail by now if there werent for Robledo because what these two did are major offences.

Speaking of fugitivity,Daniel from AB escaped from jail too, for the same reason, proving his inocensse luckily they did not find him because the files on the computers were lost and Abraham decided to drop the charges but what always irked me was ,the prison never had backups in case hackers deleted everything,i thought that having backups was common knowledge by then or the writers forgot..

Sylvia,

I think it was in Velo de Novia that Cynthia Klitbo's character had her own theme song, Mala Gente by Juanes which would play every time she appeared on screen.

Carlos

Daisynjay...hub and I go to a lot of concerts , and a few years ago , we saw MM in an outdoor concert with hall and Oates . He is one mellow fellow.

Regarding my impulsive Ipad, part of the problem is me. I have been using my finger to type after losing three styluses...don't ask. I do not always hit the letter that I am aiming for.

Carlos, so sorry I missed that one. I adore Cynthia Klitbo and Mala Gente by Juanes. What a great song to have as one's theme song. She must have been a very bad girl and a joy to watch.

...and isn't it sad that the wonderful Linda Ronstadt can no longer sing because of Parkinson's?

I adore her "Canciones de mi Padre".

Fatima

Syl, I am sure you already know this but Cynthia (and the divine Marcelo Cordoba) are in De que te quiero, te quiero.

I had never seen Cynthia until Teresa, but am a huge fan. She's amazing.

Diana

Julia: just finished looking at the pics and the last two had me laughing out aloud.

At work.

Stop that!

Diana, no I didn't know that. With Marcelo Cordoba? Ooh lala! I loved Cynthia in Teresa too. Such a warm, compassionate character, and quite a stunner I thought.

Fatima, that is also one of my favorite of Ronstadt's albums. She was a wonderful artistic director of the San Jose Mariachi and Mexican Heritage Festival. I have always admired her ability to try different singing and performing style, always managing to bring a huge dose of drama to each. I have not yet read her autobiography but I would like to.

Diana...hmmm...looks like I will be tuning into DQTQ to see one of my favorite lelenovios. Who plans by watch that one and when is it going to start ?

Maybe JL should stop listening to "the Way We Were, over and over again because Mony must be singing Air Supply's. "All out of Love." Time to listen to a different tune, dude.

Loved your captions, and everything else. Very enjoyable reading while waiting in the Drs office, the other pts wondering what I am chortling about.
Need caption: We can only wonder what change of soundtrack was happening as Marsha Brady ponders the deep meaning if life.

Julia Rold:

Thank you for this TRANSLATION of Robo #76. This work really deserves to be styled—"An English Translation of the Events Occurring In the Telenovela "Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 76", Complete with Wonderful Screenshots and Captions"—rather than as a humble RECAP.

Wow.

I have not yet read comments and I have another super-busy day so I am probably repeating what has already been said better by others; but my favorite part of your whole recap were the carefully chosen screenshots and your hilarious captions. They made me LOL. Thank you.

I will try not to get myself worked up over the foolishness of Alejandro asking the man he just attempted to murder to be the person responsible for his son Laurito's spiritual guidance and care.

My mind is as boggled as if I had just drank a gallon of straight-up Rum and Coca Cola. Am I in a diabetic coma of sweetness overload or am I just plastered? It seems likely that it is both.

What a monumentally STUPID idea.

Jose Luis is going all sweaty on us re: Montserrat and I do not like it. Dolt.

Sending wishes for an excellent day to all, but especially to our intrepid translator, Julia Rold. I'll join the convo later if I catch a break.

Elna June

Lila:

I like that song choice, but whenever they are alone I think more "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe", by Barry White, natch ; )

I have one for Dimmy "I'm Not In Love", by 10cc, it's so perfect for him.

Linda Ronstadt is too good for BM. There is a better song for her, "They're Going To Take Me Away", by haha. That's even better!

JL's song should be "The Worst That Could Happen", by Brooklyn Bridge". Refugio and Esme's would be "Have You Seen Her, by the Chi Lites, and Nadia's should be " I Will Survive", by Gloria Gaynor.

JL should really be singing this song to Angie "Heaven, Must Be Missing An Angel", by Tavares.

To all of you wondering when De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero starts, it is starting at 7:00pm on March 10th. I don't know what will fill that spot until then, although they are showing a "El Gordo y La Flaca special this Monday in that time slot.

Wow..a possibly good show at 7 pm. Since the Corazón Indomable debacle, I'd given up hope. Thanks Ms MADS for the info.

Mads: love your choice of song for Dim.

Two scorned, pissed-off women living in the same space cannot turn out well for anyone in harm's way.

I now predict either an enormous cat fight between Maria and Esme or, on the other hand, maybe they will just ravish the next male who walks through the door.

Stay away Padre Anselmo!

Maybe Alejandro's quick turnaround can be chalked up to his newly (re)acquired mother. After his weird street psycho-histerics, he came back home, asked to speak with his mother about some advice he needed and the next thing we knew - voila! The new and improved Ale appeared - all sane, nice, understanding and patient!

Mads...I am a big fan of "I'm not in Love, and anything by Barry White and the Brooklyn Bridge. RIP Johnny Maestro..what a voice.

Anonymous..if only anger management issues could be so easily and effectively dealt with in real life.

I can’t yet be all gaga about Monse and Ale. I guess I’m just holding my breath for the next time he flips out and insults her. I need to see more evidence that he’s changed before I can swoon over their scenes together and think of love songs for them. However, I did love their family hug with Rosario.

Mads, I bow to your skills of applying the appropriate soundtrack to our characters. "They're Coming To Take Me Away" is absolutely perfect for Maria. Now I wish I could just get it out of my head, not the nicest tune to be rattling around my brain, hee! Must play Barry White.

Julia R - Excellent recap. Love the photos and captions, especially, Gracie' eye and the "UNBLINKING EYE of Sauron.

Can't read the comments till tonight, but I'm knocking the dust off my application to the Ale table. That last awkward scene was well done by all.

So Dim is feeling a need to help others if he gets the money. Now I'm convinced he is Lauro's, not Benjamin's.

I have been wondering since this morning whether reporting Maria's stalking of Monserrat would somehow have had negative consequences for Adolfo. His failure to report this is going to get him in big trouble if Nadia, Alejandro, Monserrat, or Josefina ever find out. All of these peeps will reject him as soon as they all know.

Could it have anything to do with the stolen money?

Dimwit has yet to prove to me he is worthy of redemption.

Julia--There's nothing more to say. Fabulous! Screen shots with appropriate Carlos-Captions, great writing and insight into the characters. You are amazing.

I have two questions, neither of which can be answered yet.

1. (With a bow to EJ--because she recognized how inappropriate it was to ask a guy who set himself up to kill or be killed by your daddy, Laurito, to be your godfather--and not in "that" way.) Pardon the hardhearted approach, but wouldn't you want someone who is not going to die before you learn to walk or talk to be your godmother? Or do your parents just get a substitute?

2. How does JL find out BM is at the ranch? Does Refu finally hear from Esme and she spills the frijoles? Well, now to the evil dilemma, which only a telenovela knows how to pose--JL wants Ale out of the way so he can have a straight shot at Montse, but BM wants Ale for herself; BM wants Montse out of the way so she can be free to convince Ale she's the only one for her.

Ok, so somewhere in there is some mutual exclusivity going on. If they both win, they'll only have each other left. What a pair!

Susanlynn--A bow to you, too on the godparents enigma. I don't think Ale and Montse have really thought this thing through. Dominga and Macario are the best choice by far.

And since when have A & M cared about what people thought about them (i.e. Ale throwing Montse out when she was pregnant, etc. etc.)

Vivi,
Another to add to the list.

Maria’s unrevealed crimes/bad deeds:
- BM slapping Rosario.

telenovelas usually have love rectangles instead of love triangles. She loves him...but he loves her...and he loves her ..but she loves him. Each of the leads has someone or a couple someones(I am looking right at you , Mari from CI! You irresistible you) who WANTS them. I guess that the two leftover souls never end up together .

The only actual witnesses to the duel were Basurto, Monserrat, and Carlota. If JL refused to press charges by saying it was an accident and these three are willing to back that up, the gossip can end right there.

If Angelica and JL are present at Monse and Alejandro's remarriage ceremony, that seals the situation. JL will have to face that he was delirious and asked Monse to lie to him about her feelings.

Since he is also basically an honest man, any negative information about Maria's crimes will negate any influence she might try on him.

Hey Madeline and y'all, how about this for either Dim or Adolfo: Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Elvin Bishop. Love that song! :D

UA: I agree with everything you say about the JL/Mon/Ale gossip.

I so don't like where this is going. Do all the "good guys" have to do horribly shitty things? First Ale and now JL. I guess we're not supposed to be as invested in JL's goodness, but aren't we supposed to be invested in Angie's happiness?

Sometimes this TN frustrates the heck out of me.

Cap'n:
Cynthia Klitbo was BSC in the same mold as BM in El Privilegio de Amar. She was excellent. I didn't see Teresa, so I don't know if you are saying warm and compassionate with tongue in cheek or for real.

Anita,

Addressing question 2. I think that María truly believes that deep down, Alejandro really loves her but that he is blinded and intoxicated by his newly acquired wealth and status so he bought Montserrat. I also think that she sincerely believes that Montserrat loves JL and with good reason since Montserrat did enlist her assistance in escaping with JL. JL just wants his Montserrat back. She was deeply in love with him once, why not again? Neither is thinking very clearly and JL has even said that he is willing to wait for Angelica to die. She's passing out and coughing up blood, how could it take? Besides the Dr. himself said it was only a matter of a few months at most.

He wants Montserrat, She wants Alejandro... split 'em up, divide 'em up... next!

Oh and thanks, I'm flattered to have the comparison of my previous photo captions to Julia's uniquely hilarious captions today.

Carlos

Anita...Cynthia was the sweet seamstress Tia in Teresa. I have never seen her as the villain.

Julia R, this was a fabulous recap in and of itself. However, the bonus of the photos and captions took it to another dimension. They were all good, but my personal favorite was Dimi's plan for the spay/neuter clinics, then the yellow jeep...

I loved Fina's calm and composed reply to Adolfo. He was stunned to hear he's not the fascinating bon vivant he thinks he is. Dimi has dug a very deep hole for himself. I'm not sure he'll be able to win his wife over.

The first time I saw Cynthia Klitbo in a TN she was a villain, and a very good one. It was on "La Duena" with Angelica Rivera, Francisco Gattorno and Eduardo Santamarina. Check it out!

The earliest thing I saw Cynthis Klitbo in was 1991's Yo Compro Esa Mujer as an attractive young woman who cheated on her much older husband. It did not end well.

Cynthia Klitbo also played the young villain role in Cadenas de Amargura (Altair Jarabo played it in ENDA) while Daniela Castro played the heroine.

Klitbo used to play villains when she was younger and Castro used to play heroines. Now they have switched somehow.
