Que Pobres Tan Ricos #29- 2/13/14: Let The Bouts Begin!
Hola Amguis! Another rapid fire speech capitulo! My Spanish may be "off" but please fill in what I missed. This is done mainly from memory and will not be in order so as to flow better. Happy Valentine's Day Y'all!
It is Day 25 of the Infamous Smelly Suit!
MA and Lupe, she found the papers and is about to look at them, when MA catches her. He isn't pleased and tells her it's not nice to nose through others' stuff. She is petulant at being caught and tells him she could have thrown it in the trash. MA insists this paperwork is to prove his innocence and que horror! this should be lost. Better guard it better she says. They both are in a huff as he goes.
This part had alot of slang so bear with me. Frida is telling JT she is trying to borrow some equipment, of the sound variety, to replace what she "accidently" ruined. JT thinks it's a trick, but she assures him it is professional equipment, but it probably won't be there until just before the bout, the people she knows are professional musicians and use the equipment too. (Thanks Marta) JT wants to know why she is so willing to help him out, cause she's responsible she says. JT thinks she's jealous of Vanessa his novia? She could care less about Vanessa, yeah, right, sure, sure, her face speaks otherwise. JT accepts the help.
Saul and MA are talking about the Lucha Bouts. Saul thinks its all good and will pay towards the debt. MA gives him the papers and tells him to keep them safe, he almost got caught with them here, and Saul can't beleive he is still trying to take this house away from the Menchacas. He tells MA to have a heart! He also offers to bring MA a change of clothes. MA says thanks but no thanks. Saul I think is standing downwind, but he shakes his head at MA.
Lupe tells Carm how mad MA was about snooping in those papers. Carm thinks it's only right. It's not nice to snoop in others' things. And by the way Carm thinks that maybe Lupe has a little thingy for MA. That so isnt' so, Lupe says. Hmmmmm.....She sure is acting that way isn't she? Lupe is on the River DeNile! I think Lupe says that MA is clownish? Carm thinks that Lupe doesn't want him to leave the Menchacas. She says she does. Stalemate here!
Saul and MA are on yet another James Bondish spy mission with MA in the back of course. They see Adolfo come out and the game is afoot. Shout out to Sherlock Holmes! So they follow Adolfo all day long. He seems to be doing little errands he does. Saul thinks Adolfo is acting normally, not suspiciously at all. I think after awhile, Adolfo can see the eyes are upon him, cause it's twlight and he pulls his car next to Saul's and starts giving him crapola. Adolfo even parks the car, gets out, MA is praying that Adolfo doesn't see him, and Saul gets out of the car and Adolfo and Saul have words. Adolfo wants to know when the heck Saul will get it through his head that he had nothing to do with the fraud that MA committed. That was all MA and no one else! Adolfo tells Saul to quit with the following and goes. Adolfo never saw MA in the back seat. Uffff, MA is relieved. Now they are back at the Fonda Roma and MA tells Saul to go on home cause someone could steal his car, ya know the 'hood and all that. MA tells him to guard those papers. Saul goes.
And the poopy bidness comes up again. AS is pithed and lets Leo and Frida know it too. Leo wanted to tell AS his dreams, but she is pithed cause he wouldn't pick up the poppy poo of his "hermano" Da Vinci. She gets no help from anyone, you see. She's all alone, yadda, yadda, Leo tells her he wants to marry Macarena and that will ease all of AS' problemos. AS gives Frida crapola too and Frida does remind her that's AS' dog. Leo makes the cray, cray sign behind AS' back. Now the blame goes to MA of course, he was the cause of all the lost things, ya know, the lana, the houses, etc, yadda, yadda. Frida is trying to be the glass half full person and says he found them a place to stay, he's a good guy, he's working on his innocence and will get all their things back, no worries! AS isn't buying it and Leo rolls his eyes.
Mini and Isela are talking and Mini is wondering how the heck she will pull off this preggers thingy. No problem, they look on the internet on a tablet, and see all the pretty fake preggers strap ons that come in varying sizes as your "pregnancy" advances. They so have this covered. They turn the tablet off as Ahole comes in and kisses the non preggers belly.
Don Chuy, Carm and Lupe are setting up the Fonda for the Lucha Libre bouts and dinner.
Vilma comes to Ahole with a list of properties mentioned in Don A's will. There is a Swiss Chalet, A house on the Costa del (I missed Where), oh and what's this????? A property in La Nopalera. Vilma has to tell him where it is, he has no clue. Ahole thinks it must be a mistake. But it can't be cause it's in Granny Mati's name. Ahole and Vilma think its probably some broke down property, probably ruins, but he wants Vilma to go there and check it out! Ruh, Roh!
Leo and Frida are on that mezzanine above the Fonda talking about the Lucha Libre bouts. Leo thinks they are sooo naco and how this is all MA's fault. Frida tells him for once, just once, think something nice about your brother. She also says she likes JT but as a brother. Leo wants to go express his art on his Blog and Frida thinks it's horrible. Frida also said that this event was very well planned and should do well.
Lupe and Carm are cooking in the kitchen and Lupe thinks they will have a good turnout because she heavily advertised this event. MA comes down and smells what Lupe is cooking. He likes it. He has that look of ecstasy on his face again. She tells MA to serve himself, but not too much. I think it has to do with the food tally so far, and she mentions Sharkey. She ends up serving him herself. He sits down, puts a napkin in his collar, why bother! He's smelly! Anyhoo, he eats and she makes goo goo eyes at him the whole time. MA has a bit of seconds and talks to Lupe about the house. Don A really thought it was special and Lupe says it is very special to the family. All the Menchaca kids were born there, their Mama died there, it has lots of memories, it is everything to them and that's why they are trying so hard not to lose it. MA doesn't quite look happy.
Granny Mati and Emi are in the ring. Emi is showing her some Luchadore (Thanks Marta) moves. They are enjoying themselves. Meanwhile, AS is spying on them from above. Don Chuy sees her and asks if she'd like something to eat, nah, nothing just water. Don Chuy calls down to Carm to bring up some water, but she knows who it's for and she isn't budging. Don C will get it to AS. Carm will not be moved y punto! AS actually thanks him. Perla brings AS her water and some tacos. AS is being a wee bit fussy, okay downright snobbish about the water and the tacos. Seems there is a tad too much salsa on the tacos for her. Perla removes the salsa to the side with her finger, as AS looks down her nose. Perla is in the mood for some chisme since she saw those pictures at El Editorial so she asks AS about all the famous people she knew before this happened. AS tells her she knows opera singers, pop singers, actors, models, no names are mentioned but Perla has stars in her eyes. AS finally tells Perla arrivederci, as in adios, good bye. Perla leaves and AS can't eat those tacos fast enough, she absolutely loves them!
Don Chuy along with Chilaquiles are helping the Luchadores set up and as a matter of fact, Don Chuy has set up a room for the Luchadores, to change, etc. Wi-fi and Blu Tooth will be appearing as in they are Luchadores. Don Chuy can't beleive their names, not like the old days he says.
MA calls Saul to make sure that Adolfo never saw him, Saul assures him he wasn't seen. MA is nattering on about the VIP section again, and also that he thinks this is just absurd. Saul begs to differ he says it's not Vegas, but Mexico and it should be a blast! MA isn't happy, I guess he'll watch from the mezzanine.
Chiliquiles is in the ring when Perla comes out with a sign that says "Round 1" like those models do at boxing matches. Don Chuy sees her, tells her he is not allowing her to do that, besides that's for boxing, and notices her short dress with the side cutouts, he wants her to change, cause he can just about see her "amigdalas" (tonsils) (Thanks Jarifa). She argues a bit, but goes.
JT and his buddy are talking to Don Chuy about either announcing or playing in the ring and Don Chuy tells them no shoes in the ring. The guys can go in the ring, equipment stays out, and no shoes.
Nepo comes to offer his help to set up, Don Chuy will meet him in the kitchen. They go in there, and Don Chuy looks around and makes sure no one is listening or looking and Nepo pulls out a packet and it's the money for all of the Menchaca debt. Nepo tells him he may not be rich, but he saves. Don Chuy can't thank him enough and will pay every centavo back. Just don't tell Lupe, speaking of which here she comes and knows something is up. She asks what is going on and Don Chuys says he wasn't going to tell her, but he can't not tell her, so he tells her that Nepo has given him the whole amount to pay off the RP's. End of Capitulo!

a couple comments.
the Frida/JT convo... the issue is Frida can't get the equipment early, she can only get it on the day of the event because it belongs to folks who also have music gigs so they need it until the day, so that makes JT suspicious that it is a prank on her part... but he gets google-eyed... not sure if he literally accepted her offer but he did not reject it, that's for sure!
Also, wrestlers are 'luchadores' and wrestling is 'lucha libre'.
I would pay money if the named 'Wi-fi' and 'Blu-tooth' turn out to be MA and Saul in disguises... I would PAY BIG MONEY for that!
and speaking of Saul... call me crazy but he seems the only sane person with any 'common sense' around here. I want him to end up with maybe a reprogrammed/reivindicated (maybe she is the one that exposes A-hole) Vilma?
Everyone else is funny but i am not sure i would want to hang out with them... of course i would prefer the Menchaca household to the dysfunctional RP household though.
Even Don Chuy and Lupe have their 'coo-coo' moments. and MA is so clumsy i want to stay away from him before he spills something on me or makes me trip and fall.
Still love the google-eye communication of MA and Lupe and the teen love of Frida/JT. (deny deny)

Madelaine, thank you for your most excellent recap. My favorite line was " Saul I think is standing downwind." Why else would have he offered to loan him clothes? Very funny. So, we are up to Day 25 now.

I agree that Saul is the only one who is thinking and I suspect he is increasingly getting annoyed with MA's arrogance and stupidity. MA continues to become less appealing to me every day. I think in a lot of ways he is just wallowing in self pity and pride and very bad combo.
It looks like MA wants the Menchaca Production to fail. Over and above the fact that he doesn't get the whole lucha idea he can't believe they could pull something off without his fine educated help. He obviously doesn't want them to pay off the debt at this point and show the RP's the door since he needs to find the other set of papers.
AS called the Menchacas savages the other day and that came back to me last night when Perla brought her the food and after AS bitched about the sour cream how she wiped it off with her fingers. However I laughed my head off at how fast she went for the food once the girl left the room.

I see him the same way... the way he went off criticizing the spelling errors and grammar issues in the lucha libre event poster and how he talks down of them all the time is not appealing at all... as much as Fernando in LFMB was spoiled, he never spoke that bad about the secretaries or the Padillas... that is lower than low on MA part. That whole 'entitlement' attitude has to stop NOW!!

Thank you thank you, Mads. Despite my best efforts to stay awake through all of this, I fell asleep halfway through. Not cuz it was boring, but because I was so tired.
I'm sorry I missed the scene between AS and Perla, but fortunately it sounds as though the glamor Perla saw at the Editorial made a bigger impression on her than the negative responses from Vilma et al. I admire that Perla doesn't seem to let that kind of stuff bother her.
Saul should have read a book (or at least a paragraph or two) on surveillance techniques before setting out to follow Adolfo. I wondered how it was possible that Adolfo the Paranoid didn't notice the car following him around... but sure enough, he DID notice. How could he not?

Haven't seen it yet, but now I know not to get my hopes up that this is the day MA gets fresh clothes. Sigh. And could someone please go get some for Mati, too? Great comment about Saul standing downwind.
MA needs to make like El Lirio de Plata in LldA and create a nice disguise/alter ego for himself while he seeks justice. If for no other reason, just for the second outfit to rotate into. And because I want to see his klutzy self try to do superhero moves. A lucha libre event would be the perfect opportunity to debut such a disguise!

Maybe! It's worth a try! Although personally, I couldn't stand Eva's Miss Piggy voice so I'd rather he went with a new character.
Oh, I wish Ms Eva would make an appearance, can you just see her slapping Ahole, too funny. Or pushing him, even better. I want to see Mimi again, she was so funny. Ahole would be all over her, though.

Mads thanks for this great recap. Why oh why does MA continue to act more like Alejo than Saul? He needs to grow up quickly b/c with this loan, he and his family may be out on the streets. Tee, hee.
