Que pobres tan ricos #30 Feb 14, 2014 Updated. The event day... some surprises, some chaos and out of nowhere, a knight in shining armor!! and for Mini and A-hole.. an unexpected request.
Chuy: Chamaca si, tacones no!
Nepo offers help… gives Chuy the money. Chuy confesses to Lupita. Lupita nodding at Nepo.
Lo Nuevo:
A-hole arguing with Vilma about the Nopalera property. Not normal for my grandpa’s ‘tastes’. Vilma would rather not go to a place like that ‘a woman with ‘class’ like me’. He suggests she go with a chofer or with some escort from the company. Mini comes in, A-hole gets sloppy with her, Vilma about to gag.
Lupita argues with Chuy about having accepted the loan from Nepo. Chuy says not time to get too proud. Chuy almost spills the beans about the ‘cousins’, Lupita signals him and he fakes choking. Nepo tries to make amends, but Lupita not buying what he’s selling. Lupita miffed at Chuy for not having consulted her.
By ring, JT and Frida, JT nervous, Frida calls her friends, apparently the equipment has not arrived. [ The guy on the other end phone gives her the excuse of having a hard time finding the place. Seems like the guy is Tato’s buddy. He asks Tato what to tell her. Tato says he is planning his own surprise for Frida.]
Back to fonda/ring. Listening to her phone call, JT smells a rat. But just then the guys arrive. They guys see the place with the ring and say its “a bit freaky”. JT and his friend go out with the guys to unload the equipment, Frida leans on ring and sighs in relief. Her ex boyfriend finally makes his entrance and she is surprised (and not too positively) to see him there. She just wants him to leave. He claims he was just worried about her. She is just helping these guys out. And yes, she is living there. He tries to grab her and JT comes to her rescue. They guy talks down to JT. They mock that JT is named ‘Tizoc’. Leo recognizes ‘Tato’ from up the steps and warns MA about it.
Lupita finally gives in and accepts and thanks Nepo for the money. Chuy hugs Nepo. Que Dios se lo pague. Lupita won’t have the ‘Dios se lo pague’, she will pay him for every peso. But she is thankful nonetheless. Chuy and Nepo relieved.
A-hole keeps kissing Mini’s belly. She pushes away and then claims its because the baby kicked (what grade did this girl drop out of school at? 5th? GEEEEEZZZZZ!!!). Seems A-hole is no newbie in the subject of pregnancies, since he immediately corrects her, baby can’t kick, its just a bean… you are just a few weeks pregnant. Isela comes to her rescue and blames it on the hormone changes of a mother-to-be. A-hole gives up and heads away. Isela calls her daughter ‘Mensa!’ (I couldn’t have said it better myself!)
Oh oh!.. Lupita hides the money under a floor tile, but she is unaware that AS is watching her..
Chuy comes out dressed as the caped Hijo de Sumatra. Perla comes behind him dressed in a full body leotard holding the ‘1’ sign. He turns around and is shocked at her looks. He rants at her about being a decent young lady, he claims she had to put that suit on with a shoe slip because it was her outfit when she was a little girl. He won’t let her go out that way. (repeat)… she leaves in a huff. He keeps admiring himself in the mirror. (I have to say 1. She is grown up. 2. She does not look that bad or slutty)
MA is ranting at Frida about inviting Tato. She had no idea Tato was coming. MA asks Frida to keep Tato entertained. Don’t let him come to the roof.
MA walks in living room as Lupita comes out. She notices that he is planning to stay there. She asks him if he won’t come down to the event. Asks him if he is not coming down. He has to confess that there is someone there that should not see him or anyone in the family. Lupita asks if he is a friend of Frida’s. MA not sure, but good luck with the event. Anything else? Getting around in this house is a bit complicated… Lupita jokes around with him noticing he is a bit ansy… then she laughs ‘just kiddin’.
Chuy comes out to the street. Mati and Emiliano have set up a 'ticketing' table. Chuy announces: Show time!! Pasele, Pasele!!! Two treats for one price!! Wrestling and Band Concert!! Make a line!! Tickets are limited!! (other wrestlers come to help Chuy handle the line). Chuy and Mati will take care of the ticket (counter). She had always wanted to do something related to wrestling events, so she will realize her dream!! Sleazy loan guy shows up, he wanted to come cooperate with the good cause. Chuy welcomes him… but you will need to donate 150 pesos to the cause. Guy came with 500 pesos, but since you have not made any payments, I will keep it. (yikes, this guy is something else)… Chuy runs out flying his cape around.

Saul is in car, can’t come in because there is a huge line ‘and you were saying it was going to be a complete failure!’ MA has to peek out to confirm… Saul asks didn’t you want people to show up so they could pay you? MA says no way, I can’t let them pay the loan off!! Saul asks what are you going to do? MA says I will see, I just have to ruin their ‘fiestecita’!! Saul asks what do you mean? MA says he will denounce their event with no permission… Saul says be careful, maybe that move will backfire on you. MA says have to choose the RPs or the Menchaaaacas! Saul repeats his warning… MA hangs up and is a bit confused.
Gwendy comes dressed to the nines. Lupita and Carmelita see her and she says she came to spend time with the papacito primo Mike. Lupe says maybe the primo Mike won’t even come to the event. Gwendy says ‘all dressed and nowhere to go’… Gwendy ends up sitting with Nepo and the place is full to the rim. Lupe mentions the loan and when she leaves Gwendy rants at Nepo that she had told him not to insist on that. Sleazy loan guy invites himself to their table, to Nepos disgust.
In AS’s bedroom, Leo says they have to avoid the scandal of anyone finding out that the RPs are living there. MA comes to summon them to the attic, that is the safest place for no one to see us. AS protests. The ring area is also pretty full. Gwendy finds Diego Armando… he is a bit shy to go sit down with his dad. She guesses he is looking for Perla Ivette. He actually spots Frida and gets electric shocked.
Lupe has to come out to put order to the line of people. Some people bought their tickets in advance, and others don’t have tickets yet. Lupe again leaves the line in the capable hands of Mati and Emiliano. (yikes! I wonder if Mati does know any wrestling moves to protect that cardboard money box with)
A-hole and Mini… his hands all over her on the couch… Isela again spoils the moment for A-hole… she brought them some drinks. Mini plays thankful daughter for her mother’s attentions. Isela reminds Mini of what she needs to ask A-hole. As Isela leaves the room, A-hole rushes to lock the door… And what is that you were going to request of me? Mini asks subtly (or not so subtly) for a post-nup agreement. She asks A-hole to make her his universal heir in his will. What if one day you get fed up with me and kick me out? A-hole asks ‘what the heck do you want?’ Mini asks him to officially recognize his son and states what he will leave her with if he leaves her. A-hole says that is not necessary. I don't like any other women, but you. Mini says she found a feminine garment in a drawer. She won’t be calm until her future and her child’s are secured. A-hole guesses right that this was Isela’s idea. Mini says she just wants no secrets between them. Mini continues... BTW, I found a new safe in your closet. And I don’t’ know the code for that one. A-hole says things in there are not important. Thanks to the baby we are expecting, we will be the owners of the entire publishing company. He tries to cuddle to her, she fakes gagging again.
Back to the fonda… Gwendy seems to be having too much to drink. Diego Armando walks away. Nepo wants Diego Armando to dedicate himself to futbol, he will be the next Chicharito. Gwendy keeps telling Nepo to take his time with Lupe. Just like me with my Mike. She says her horoscope failed her. It said ‘you will find love or a ticket to the Metro (bus)’ and got neither.
Show time!(no, yes, this is it!)
Chuy’s voice presents Chilaquiles (dressed masked man with black cape)… (Tato rolls his eyes) Chilaquiles grabs the mike and presents the Hijo de Sumatra. (gold suit and cape)
Chuy presents the band. Pelambre and my son Jose Tizoc with the ladies accompanying them! Frida seems a bit miffed about the girls. Everyone gets to dance… even on top of the tables. Even Frida is now happy clapping.
At attic, AS comes in whining about the band… MA says it’s the music they hear here in the barrio. Leo says maybe now you will appreciate the opera music I listen to. AS says she hopes everyone will leave soon so she can go back to the room which is better than this cold attic. AS says Leo is a good son, almost as good as my DaVinci… ‘Thanks Mom’ says Leo.
Tizoc sings 2nd song… Tato comes over to Frida again… she wants nothing to do with him. He insists roughly so Tizoc stops playing, comes over to them and yells at Tato to leave her alone. There was some trash talk between them, then Tato punched Tizoc. Tizoc "repaid" him once and stopped. Tato tried to hit Tizoc a second time and failed. Then Tizoc turned it up a notch and BAM!!! hit Tato right on head with a Chuck Norris back leg swing… Chaos ensues a bit, Lupe concerned. Frida concerned. (Thanks Paula for the correction, it all happened so fast... hopefully they repeat it monday nite)

Marta, thanks for yet another wonderful recap this week.
You were so right about Minerva sounding like a 5th grade dropout. What luck that "mamita suegra" Isela was there to smooth things over. Minerva sounded much smarter later asking Alejo for a financial/post nup agreement.
Don Chuy sounded like parents the world over: telling Perla she was not a wrestler (that leotard did look like the same spandex on don Chuy) and that it looked like it was painted on her and then the shoe slip comment Marta mentioned. The cute lizard print coat did solve the problem.
MA was at his best crawling around to avoid being seen.
I wonder how much AS actually saw when Lupita was hiding the money in the floor. You couldn't tell much by her blank look. I could understand why Lupita was so angry at first that don Chuy and Nepo made the loan agreement without her input. Here she is trying to save them all with her fonda but they didn't include her in the decision making? Didn't don Chuy think of the further implications and possible pressure on her now that she and Nepo are "novios"? Just might be worse for her than owing the Ruiz-Palacios since she seemed to be the reluctant novia.

MA continues to advance in the race for most unappealing galan ever with his telling Saul to break up the Menchacas event. What a slime he is becoming and Saul seemed shocked he would stoop so low. He would be better served if he really tried to clear his name by getting someone on the inside but he seems to be focusing all his energy in getting rid of the menchacas. I really don't like him anymore and can't see how he is going to redeem himself. If it weren't for the Menchacas, Da Vinci and granny I'd be kissing this one off at this point.

I too am disappointed in MA right now. He is trying to get rid of the Menchacas and trying to find a way, BUT isn't that what Don Chuy and Lupe are doing now too? They got that money to pay them off and get them to go. The Menchaca, however, are doing it the right way, MA is doing it Ahole's way. That's why he's such a jerk right now. I think MA thinks this is the easiest way for him to recoup some money, but how about his good name and his innocence? He really doesn't have his priorities straight at all. He's in a panic of being caught any day now.

Decie Girl, about MA, "better served if he really tried to clear his name by getting someone on the inside but he seems to be focusing all his energy in getting rid of the menchacas." This is 100% right. Instead of trying to fix the wrong that has been done to him, he's trying to screw over other people….people who have helped him. Really, I can't believe that they are making MA so low.
I know it has been mentioned before, but couldn't someone find Mati something else besides pajamas to wear outside in the street? It's obvious MA is too much of a jerk to think about this even though he supposedly loves Mat so much, but what about Lupe? After all, she knows Mati really is Emiliano's grandmother.
Small detail: I'm pretty sure Frida told Tato she did NOT live there but was there because she was helping to manage the band.
I thought Don Chuy was over the top when he had Perla change a second time. And couldn't he let her carry the placards around? Couldn't he see how revved up she was about it?
Jarifa, "MA was at his best crawling around to avoid being seen." I don't laugh at a lot of his antics, but MA skittering down on the hallway floor was great. He looked like a giant cockroach.
I'm also not sure if AS could see what Lupe was doing with the money and the floor tile. We'll see later if this is important or if it was just thrown in for no apparent reason.
Wendy assumed Diego was looking for Perla. Then she caught him staring at Frida and JT talking together and assumed he was interested in Frida. But maybe he's interested in JT. Hope not, because we know he's in for heartbreak there (just like his dad with Lupe).
I felt a little bad for Leo when AS told him he was a good boy, almost as good as DaVinci. Leo accepted it well (and obviously doesn't take it out on DaVinci) but even though it's probably true (LOL), moms shouldn't play favorites like that.
Exciting end to the show…JT's moves were a surprise.

Madelaine, on the other hand I also I feel sorry for Nepo who doesn't know what he is caught up in and that Lupita only agreed to the noviazgo out of spite.

And may I say, while I'm glad JT defended Frida, I'm THRILLED that Frida didn't give Tato another chance. I really hate when TN characters (male or female) give in to a rotten ex.
I don't think Mini is as dumb as she seems. I believe she does have a brain, but is saving it for a rainy day... letting Mom do all the thinking for now. Someday, Mini's brain will crank into motion (rainy day or no) and then... I shudder to think. Because I'm not expecting it to be a GREAT brain - but I am expecting Mini to turn out to be very different from her mother. (We have seen hints of that already, with her still pining for kind and generous MA over wealthy and still-respectable Alejo, unlike her mom whose only priority is money.)

Julie, I agree. Though she may not be a rocket scientist, I don't think Mini is stupid. I think she's figured out Ahole a heck of a lot better than her mom (and certainly better than Vilma). So far, I like her. I kinda doubt we'll see good things for or by her in the end but I would enjoy it if it happened.

I am so disappointed in MA. I don't know why I keep expecting better of him. Who else thinks that he already called the cops to come break up the wrestling/concert event? It seems that why he hustled the family upstairs and kept looking at his watch.
Loved Tizok's kungfu moves, and it looks like it was mostly him doing that stuff and not a stunt man. How dare someone called Tato make fun of a cool name like Tizok? What a jerk that guy is.

Adolfo worked for Grandpa for a long time and was his "friend." Grandpa apparently didn't let Adolfo know that he was keeping an eye on him, so Adolfo must have assumed that HE was the favorite and was expecting the presidency of the company to be handed over to HIM rather than the grandsons.
That doesn't explain why he's siding with Ahole, but I suppose that if he knew Grandpa favored MA over Ahole, that would be a motive to work with Ahole to get MA out of the way... and ultimately to incriminate Ahole at some point too while looking like a hero for saving the company. And then, tra-la-la, he becomes president of the company.
If that's the case, then Ahole isn't really a step ahead of Adolfo by plotting to throw him under the bus, because Adolfo has already laid the groundwork for a similar plan for Ahole.
Adolfo strikes me as the smarter of the two. But is he more ruthless than Ahole? Or will they end up canceling each other out?

I agree MA was up to no good, but is the lucha libre event actually illegal? Chuy and Lupita were certainly advertising it all around and didn't seem concerned about being sneaky, and since Chuy used to be in the business, I would assume he knows the rules for running such things.
