Que Pobres Tan Ricos #36... Nepo offers MA a job, MA and Emiliano bond more... Frida gets help from JT and then later realizes just what she escaped when she broke up with Tato
MA and Saul keep playing switched lawyer/customer in front of the late guy’s sec. Saul keeps MA in check, warning they have to be careful about reaching out too much, A-hole might find out he is in town.
A-hole at office angry about the board old hags that won’t name him President of the bizness. Adolfo comes in unannounced and asks A-hole if he is finally the big Cahoona… Not yet. Adolfo asks maybe MA is working on fulfilling the grandpa clause out there in Europe. Even if your cousin is a runaway he won’t lose the rights if he complies with the clause before A-hole. A-hole is now irritated/anxious that MA is in Italy and he can’t keep an eye on him. Vilma tries to say her 2 cents worth but to no avail. Adolfo gigles ‘bye!’
At Nepo’s stand, he is still nervous about the cousins still there, Gwendy calls that ‘jealousy’. Nepo did not like the face of Lupita during the event night. Gwendy says nepo is seeing enemies where there aren’t any. Nepo came up with an idea of keeping the enemy near… Diego Armando comes by and gets a fruit drink from them and leaves. Gwendy still very interested in hearing what Nepo is thinking to do.
Adolfo gets to the reason he is there, you have not transferred the money to my account yet. Adolfo asks A-hole for 10% extra as compensation for the delay and for having to take the risk to come back. A-hole assures him MA will be the only one to pay for it all. Adolfo not quite buying what A-hole is selling. He does not want to end up like MA hiding in Italy to avoid being arrested. Adolfo leaves and Vilma comes and A-hole says ‘the time to get rid of that one (Adolfo) has come’.
At JT’s room, Frida says she has to find a truck or pickup to return the equipment. JT says he will find it for her. Would do anything for you. She is leaving and he calls her back, she says Grnadma is waiting, but he won’t let her leave without a brief kiss.
Saul and MA are walking around somewhere. Saul says the only one that would be able to prove that A-hole set MA up for the fraud is Adolfo. MA still hoping A-hole has some document in his house that would help. Saul says that would be crazy stupid on A-hole’s part (well, I remember some laptop in a safe). MA says they still have to keep trying to find Adolfo and find someone to explain more the paperwork about the land(Fonda property). Saul notes that he has to go back and do some of his work, cannot continue spending much time with MA. MA is borderline insulting with mocking Saul’s way with words (speeches over 70 words long that don’t say much). But they part giggling, Saul knows MA is kiddin, sorta.
At Fonda, Lupe and Carmelita are cooking breakfast (Chilaquiles) and they see Don Chuy walk by with his head down. Carmelita comments that he looks very depressed. Lupe agrees, thinks he has a lot of stress on him, knowing he is not the legal owner of the property, the money that was stolen and having the RPs around all day. Carmelita agrees with that last one. Lupe says MA is constantly in and out, Dona Mati is nice, and the others are just bothersome. Carmelita notes again Lupe’s face when she talks about MA. Lupe still in denyal denyal… In comes Nepo. He didn’t come to see her, came looking for primo Mike. (Said primo Mike makes his entrance right at that moment). MA says at your service, Nepo.
Diego Armando comes in to visit Gwendy to get a haircut. He picks a hairstyle out a book and Gwendy mocks that that is a ‘metro-sexual’ look. Diego Armando backs up offended, thinking she called him gay. She explains that that style is for men who like to spend time taking care of their looks. Later on Diego Armando is asking about the gossip about the cousins staying. Gwendy says the cousins were about to leave but something happened and now they are staying longer. Perla comes in and starts prepping DA. When he is done and leaves, Perla is drooling about him. Gwendy warns her that DA was setting his eyes on her cousin Frida. Perla wants Gwendy to style her so she can go impress DA. Gwendy advises take the initiative. Flirty but not slotty.
Nepo and MA at a table, as I said, ‘my name Mike’, is going straight to the point and says Lupita is the love of his life. MA congratulates him, but he does not get the point of the conversation. Nepo says the Menchacas are like his family. And their family would also be his ‘family’. Either way, he learned that MA is in a dire financial status. Nepo asks MA where he works. MA gives advice to investors. Nepo says what you need is something more stable. Would you like to work with me? (talk about a downgrade!) MA very politely turns him down. Nepo takes it a little in offense. MA not sure he would know how to. Nepo says the important thing is that MA can contribute to the household, instead of scratching your ‘bones’. Nepo starts talking about his products, including the ‘platano macho dominico’. MA could help him go get his supplies at the distributors. MA will consider it. Nepo gives up. JT comes in. Asks Nepo to borrow one of his trucks for a while this afternoon.
Lupe with Emiliano. She asks him if he is sure he wants to move in with JT. She warns him they will be a bit tight, JT, Don Chuy and Emi. She gives in. As she leaves, she turns around and gives him a big squeeze hug and kiss.
MA comes down, sees Emiliano carrying a box. Offers to help him move. Will carry the bed.
DA comes to the Fonda, looking for Nepo. (although he was looking up the stairs, for Frida). Carmelita guesses he was looking for Perla. She offers him a drink. In come JT and Frida. DA gets a bit worried. Carmelita still totally missing it and continues to talk about Perla. She leaves, he keeps looking upstairs.
Up in the attic, there is a street vendor with loud speakers and Leo complains this artist can’t concentrate with all that noise. He calls Maca… She complains he did not call sooner. He says its been a greek tragedy. She announces she is leaving in the next flight with her mom from Madrid to Mexico. She wants to go straight from the airport to their mansion. He says this is a surprise!. She reminds him they had planned it. She expects him to pick her up in his limo and go straight to meet his family. He asks if they can postpone. She says no way, the driver to take them to the airport is there. See you in Mex. Mua! Leo swallows hard.
JT and his friends are loading the equipment in the truck. He wants to come along, but when DA comes out, Frida and the driver take off. JT asks DA for the keys to the car and takes off after them.
Back in Emiliano’s room, seems the bed was a bit harder to carry. We see Emiliano calmly packing things while MA has a hard time grunting with the mattress. MA and Emiliano bond talking about how Don Chuy used to spend time with Emiliano. MA also enjoyed spending time with grandpa. Emiliano says its like with a dad, but I never had a dad. HE would like to meet his dad. His mom promised him he would meet him as a birthday present. But she has not mentioned it again. MA says be patient, she will find the right moment. They go back to messing with the twin mattress, this time together. They continue talking about experience with grandpa. MA’s dad died when he was very young and grandpa took over the role. Emiliano tells him that he has been lying at school about his dad being around. Now he has to bring his dad to school and is in a bind. Lupe comes in, Emil leaves. Lupe asks MA if he has been talking a lot to her son. MA assures her he has not told Emiliano anything that would bother her. He and Emiliano have many things in common, more than I could have imagined. Lupe asks what will you all do. MA says still working on proving my innocence. Lupe asks have you thought about working on something? We have been giving you all meals on credit and can’t do it for long. MA mentions that Nepo offered him a job. Lupe basically suggests he should take the job and stop being a ‘mantenido’ (living off other folks). She leaves and MA comes to the realization he HAS been living as a ‘mantenido’. Then he leans on the mattress (standing leaning on the bunk beds). ‘I wish they would give me this mattress at the attic.’
At her hotel room, AS gets a call from Leo. She says for excuse for not answering it earlier that she was at a mass service at the convent. He tells her what is going on and she is frozen speechless. Leo hysterical, what will we do??!! Give me option A, option B!! She suggests he tell her something, that they are skiing, or in a cruise at Fiji islands. You are the artist, use your creativity. Leo says we have no time, there is nothing we can do to prevent it! ‘Porka Maddona!!’ AS says lets meet near the convent, I will give you directions.
Leo comes out, DA goes to him, Leo tries to brush him off but DA wants him to talk about his artistry. Leo asks for directions to a corner where he can take a taxi. DA gives him about four street names, Leo can’t keep up so he brushes him off and leaves.
The guys waiting for the equipment don’t look too happy. Frida gives them the money and asks them to unload the equipment. They start mocking JT and his friends who came last time to load the equipment and didn’t come. She defends JT as solidary, hardworking and noble. Here comes Tato to continue mocking JT and his friends as ‘nacos’. Frida is offended and sad that they are so racist. Tato says JT is like a feline cat, launched on them to defend her at the event. She says JT and her are only friends, but JT is caring and cares for her in a nice way. Unlike others who sleep around once you turn your back on them. THAT is really ‘naco’. She warns them that if they don’t unload the equipment she will leave with it, its their business, not hers. The guys go get the equip. Tato insists that he wants another chance with her. She just rolls her eyes and walks away.
AS and Leo meet outside the hotel lobby. Leo says this is one of the worst moments of his life. AS says you are stressing me out. AS complains about his smell. Leo says have no deodorant or perfume. You … you look great! I had not seen those clothes in you. She says she wants him to see the ‘convent’ she has been in. As they walk into the hotel, he looks around and asks if the religion she is practicing is scientology or what?.
Mini reports to her mom that she could not get any info out of AS about MA. Isela yells at her to leave that subject and her ‘chiki’. Mini can’t leave the issue. Since she found out MA could have been set up with the fraud by A-hole, she can only think of finding a way to help MA. Isela insults her as stubborn like your dad. Mini says if MA does prove his innocence and gets his fortune back, she could go back with him and it would still be a happy ending. Isela says dream on!! In the remote case that could happen, you could not help him fulfill the clause. You are sterile like a mule. Not the junk we get at the Menchaca’s!’ He starts slurping the food in as a vacuum. ‘Really, mami, how did you do it?’ AS says there are moments in a woman’s life that … lets say… I had a lucky moment… I got a loan… but not from A-hole, or Beba or Chavelita… I took a loan… but swore to God I would return it… (Leo finally gets it)… Mom, were you the one who took the money from the Menchacas?? (AS nods and then says it was a loan) you stole!!

I like the bonding with Emil and MA. They do have a lot in common. MA had his Grandpa and Emil has Don Chuy and Tizoc. Speaking of bonding Lupe and MA are doing a lot of that too. I like their little convos and the staring at each other.
If Ahole really does something to get Adolfo into trouble, Adolfo will sing like a bird and not about MA I'm thinking. Ahole isn't Machiavelli, he's more like Boris Badenov and Vilma is Natasha. He's destined to mess up at some point.
I like Mini's wanting to help MA. Isela really is only looking out for herself. They are a hoot though.

Thank you, Marta. I missed a lot of the conversations last night and did not even realize that Nepo was offering MA a job.
One thing I did get, though, a slight correction - Diego was clearly looking up the stairs for Leo. Carmelita said "if you're looking for Perla, she's at the beauty parlor now so she'd be coming from that way" - indicating the door. She added, "The only person who'd be coming down from the stairs would be Princeso Leonardo." But Diego continued looking up the stairs; and when Frida passed him, he paid little attention.
I LOLed at "board old hags that won’t name him President of the bizness." It's always fun to see Ahole stymied and frustrated... but it wasn't smart of him to skim money from Adolfo and raise his suspicions. Then again, he doesn't seem very smart to me anyway. Sneaky, yes; but I'm not so sure about smart.
Funny how MA, who has previously suggested that his siblings earn some money, turned down a job offer that he didn't even have to ask for. I understand why he turned it down - but now he's in no position to lecture anyone else.
I like that Nepo mentioned that one should keep his enemies close. I remember Mati saying that her husband felt that way too, and that's why he kept Adolfo around. (Which doesn't explain why he didn't warn MA about him...)
I enjoyed MA and Lupita finally sharing a pillow... even if they were vertical, fully clothed, and not touching.
I've also been enjoying the running theme lately of people telling one another "you have an odd way of saying things." Last night MA said it to Saul, and Chuy said it to MA. The night before, or was it one day last week, Lupita said it to MA.
So Macarana is coming at "noon tomorrow." How many episodes will we have to wait?

And later he told Leo that he was interested in learning about art from him - perhaps art is where his passion is? since it doesn't seem to be futbol.
Maybe now that Lupita also told MA that he should get a job since the Menchacas cannot be covering their expenses forever, he will accept Nepo's offer. It would be interesting to see him working in a fruit market, hopefully that would make him see how hard some people have to work to make a living.

Typical, MA is offered a job to help contribute and turns it down and then he mocks Saul for trying to help him and yet do his own work. And there is that nasty little matter of continuing to try and screw the Menchacas out of the money. I don't care how sweet he is with Emiliano he is still not a very likable character.
Oh for heaven sake struggling to move a twin bed mattress? Yes, they are awkward but the way he was carrying on you'd think it was a king. The entire RP clan is just incapable of living life in the real world.
I think that is the core of AS's problems as well, growing up rich and pampered she and for that matter the rest of them have absolutely no coping skills although Frieda does try.

They will have to spin some story about the mansion being redone and the missing family off somewhere, probably good old Italia. I did think Leo looked shocked when he realized mama is a thief but since it will get him out of a bind I'm sure he'll bend his moral principles for awhile.

Barbara, I know... for a dog, being away from your human is no treat at all. That's why I said I hoped DaVinci picked up some bad habits from the other dogs at the spa. I bet they know ALL the fun places to poop. :-)

It sounds like he is going to take it, although he seems to think it will be managerial and I suspect it will involve hauling a lot of crates of produce. A while back, someone (Paula?) suggested that the countess's family might be running out of money, and hoping to marry into a rich family like the RPs for a hot cash infusion.
If that's the case, this could get really ugly. Hilariously so. Hopefully Macarena will still have enough funds left over to fly herself back to Spain so she doesn't end up sleeping in the roof-shack for the rest of her life. ;-)

I enjoyed the whole bit with MA conversing with Emi and then Lupe on the upright mattress. The chat between MA and Emi was particularly compelling. I think Emi needed an outside opinion on the whole MIA father issue, and talking to MA helped.
I also agree that Leo's ethics about stealing (or borrowing, without informing anyone) will fly out the window if AS can help him pull off scamming Macarena into believing he's still rich.

I feel so sorry for Diego Armando. That poor guy needs a real friend. He looks like a neglected puppy. No one understands him or pays attention to him other than to project their oblivious expectations onto him. Maybe he should check into the spa with DaVinci and get a little pampering.
