The recap is up, if I got some things wrong please let me know. I didn't get what Emiliano and Granny said about her pills. Please let me know what was said and I will fix the recap. Please enjoy ; )
 

Thanks Madelaine, very well done. You can't imagine how much we appreciate these recaps.

As for the conversation between Mati and Emiliano, he admitted that MA had pretended to be his father in front of his friends and that he wished that he would have a father like MA. She told him that while lying is not a good thing, it was sweet of MA to do that and that Aureliano would have been proud if Emi carried the RP blood.

Emiliano asked her if she's been taking the pills that the Dr. prescribed and she assured him that she is but that her memory is really not so bad. She knows that Aureliano is dead and has been for about ten years... uh oh.

Also Leo came up with a couple of escape plans:

Go out the window using bedsheets tied together... AS pointed out that they are on the 27th floor.

Dig a tunnel... 27th floor.

I thought AS's apology to Da Vinci was very touching.

Didn't Guendy look fetching in that outfit last night? I'm smitten.

Hi Mads! LOVED the recap.
I thought I would help out with the Mati/Emiliano scene...
first she mentions to him that MA going to the school pretending to be his dad was a lie, but she can't help but admit it was a great gesture on MA for him.
Emiliano asks her if she has been taking her pills regularly... she says yes, but we know from her face she is lying. She said something about wanting to be alert (vs numb).
At the hardware place, MA was holding the level and the small shovel used to build brick walls... bet MA didn't not only know what the level was for but even less what the shovels had to do with building a wall.

About MA acting like a Gorilla, Lupe and him had been staring at each other and asking each other 'tengo monos en la cara?' (is there a monkey [something weird] on my face?)
so that is where the MA playing a gorilla came from (that was so funny, he can do it really good).

I also noticed that when Mini was reading the ‘Hola!’ magazine, the actual cover said 'Hola que tal!' (the que tal was below the bigger 'Hola' but noticeable too) which is a funny take on the original magazine name Hola... its like saying 'Hi how is it going?' vs just 'Hi!'

I also caught Isela mentioning ‘Bad Pritt’ (of course she meant Brad Pitt) when she and Mini were arguing... the whole argument about the USB was that Mini wants to give it to MA to help him, Isela says lets use it for OUR OWN benefit, not sure if she meant she can blackmail A-hole for it or Isela just doesn't want Mini to give it to MA since A-hole will lose everything if Mini is right about MA being innocent.

Also, in the AS/Hotel Mgr discussion, the Hotel Mgr said that none of the 3 (Including Maca) can go anywhere until bill is paid, which is when AS tried to pull rank saying Maca was a condesa from Spain and can you imagine the scandal on the hotel if anyone found out he was keeping Maca against her will.

MA told Frida that AS and Leo have been staying at a 5 star hotel... the most expensive hotel in the city...

I LOVED that Lupe was offering to go with MA to get the materials and MA said what is the need? you just need a wall piece and a roof piece and put them together!! (to what Lupe just laughed... I would bet these two would make a great couple growing up together and enjoying the little funny moments in life like these).
 

another funny moment was after Mati and Jose Tizoc were dancing the cumbia (Btw, I loved how he dances, i want to dance with him!!) and they were all heading out to get the materials, someone (I think Frida) mentioned JT's 'form' and MA was like 'is THAT his real body??' in surprise. not sure if that was mocking or genuine surprise on MA.
 

And the closeup of Da Vinci as he watched AS and Leo making their final escape preparations was so cute.

Thanks so very much for the added info. I too think Granny is not as bad off as she pretends to be. She pulled a really good one on MA with those papers. I just hope she really knows what she did with them.

I laughed so hard at MA and Frida with the bricks and cement. That cement was just dripping all over the place. Thank goodness Don Chuy came to the rescue : )

Isela and Mini continue to crack me up. It was too funny when Isela checked to make sure Ahole was still alive.

Can't wait to see what Operation Penthouse will look like when it's done ; )

The RPs and Menchacas coming together for the building project is so sweet. MA and Frida really need help. Who stacks bricks like that??

That chinchilla coat MA sold looked like it would have made a very warm comforter.

When Grandma Mati came up and offered to help, she certainly seemed like she knew more about building and putting concrete together than MA and Frida together. When she offered, Chuy asked her if she could please manage the opening and closing of the water hose faucet... (as you are mixing cement, workers usually have a hose near where they are making the mix and they add water sporadically to the mix as they are mixing it up to ghet the right texture on the mix).. that is why when MA left the area and Chuy was left with Grandma (and possibly Frida) I was starting to worry that something was going to go very wrong with the mix getting flooded or stte... lol!!
 

ok that's another nickname we recappes will adopt... instead of calling it the attic or anything else i am calling the 'upstairs' room the Penthouse from here on out.
 

Madelaine, thank you for your wonderful recap and the so appropirate "Night and Day" ear worm. It is another one of my faves. Looks like the Cole Porter cd will be joining me on the road today for a sing-along. I am glad that you liked Guendy "the mouth" and used it. I also agree with you that doña Mati is more lucid than she lets on.

My tablet just ate up my comments so now I am on my computer trying to remember what I wrote the first time.

Anyway, Leonardo and AS were at their best. I loved how in one of the many farewell scenes with Macarena when Leonardo said to weepy MA and Macarena that they would all soon be together like a prettier version of the three pigs or a more stylish version of the three Musketeers. I was so happy that AS finally got possession of Da Vinci. I have been afraid that the hotel would hold him hostage. Her apology to him was so AS. AS is thinking clearly though because she did say that the problem was not escaping the hotel but where they would go after the escape.

The brick laying fiasco was just as expected. I loved that don Chuy is now teaching MA how to lay brick and that doña Mati refuses to be left out and is in charge of the water.

That "herbal" tea sure did the job on Alejo. Isela dreaming of Brad Pitt!!!: she and Minerva were at their usual best. I hope they manage to stay a couple steps ahead of Alejo. Although he had been drugged, it did concern me when Alejo viewed his computer screen when he woke up. He looked puzzled. Was it because he was still coming out of his drugged state or was there something different on the page that he noticed?

MA monkeying and "gorillaing" around was as funny as expected.

when Alejo was coming back from dreamland, he realized the laptop was still sitting at the european bank site where he had left it... mabye he was slightly concerned at having fallen asleep when he was 'signed on' at the bank site.
 

Marta, I thought the site was the same as when he had passed out. That was why I was wondering. Thanks.

Yes, he was already 'signed on' to the bank web site when Mini brought him the 'tea' and he had no idea he would be falling asleep so he never really closed the window or signed out of it. that is why Mini took the laptop (still sitting at the web site) and that is still where it was when he woke up (i wonder if he ever put a screen saver timer / security lock timer on that laptop, even the bank site should have a lock-out/need to log in again timer like most our bank sites have, how long was he asleep anyway? hours??)

Tizoc can dance, too?! Holy cow, he is a CATCH! If he were only a little older, I would take him if Frida didn't want him! I loved watching Tizoc and Mati dancing together!

Leo's escape plans were hilarious, too. Any chance they can go pull this scam at another fancy hotel or two before they are stopped? Why were they in bathrobes? Were they escaping through the spa?

Okay, I know I'm supposed to think it's great that they have all this initiative and DIY mojo in their approach to building the penthouse addition...but the structural engineer part of me is FRIQUEANDO at the idea of adding all that mass to a building, especially at the top! Without considering whether the structure can handle that much load! And I'm sure the rest of the house was never engineered for its original condition, either!

Just because it stands while they're building it doesn't mean it's good for seismic forces. I didn't even see any rebar. POORLY PLANNED AND DETAILED UNREINFORCED MASONRY IS WHY SO MANY POOR PEOPLE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES DIE IN EARTHQUAKES!!!!! I think it is really irresponsible of the show to promote this as the sensible way to get something built. At least consult with a qualified professional who can assess the structure and give you some advice to make it more safe!

Ahem. I am very passionate about this topic.

Are we supposed to believe MA is a complete idiot? Did he even graduate from elementary school? Has he never seen a brick wall? Did he never play with LEGOs? Does he not even have the most basic level of common sense that would tell him how to stack bricks so they'll stay up? I know it's supposed to be funny, and it was, but his brickwork made him look like a poster child for brain damage awareness.

Also, he had that chinchilla coat and he's been wrapping up in plastic at night? Oy. MA. Use some of that money you have leftover and buy a clue.

Rikki, I was so glad to see DaVinci too. Like Jarifa, I was a little worried he was going to be held ransom for the hotel bill. Glad he was part of the escape plan.

Carlos, DaVinci's close-up was adorable wasn't it? I was nervous though that he might have been scared with AS's face crying and wailing right into his during the apology.

Don Chuy captured the patience (but underlying restrained exasperation) wonderfully with his facial expressions as he kept trying to see if MA and Frida understood his directions on the cement mixing.

I didn't see this last night, and might find it too annoying to watch compared to reading the recap. Nepo frowns when Diego suggests that he apologize to Lupita? I'm trying not to dislike Nepo, but I need him to meet me halfway on this. Lupita deserves a BIG apology.

Of course, she also owes HIM a big apology, but not for the same reason, so the two apologies don't cancel each other out. However, if they'd both like to stay angry with one another and never speak again, that does sort of solve that problem.

I can't wait for AS to find her chinchilla missing... if she complains, MA can go nuclear on her.

So, Maca is gone? Really? Surely this isn't the last we'll see of her. I bet they'll run into her at the pawnshop or some other embarrassing place before long.

MA is starting his handyman career with masonry? Big mistake. (Aside from the fact that he's doing it wrong AND that whole structural integrity thing.) Julia, let's just hope that this is a setup for a later disaster so that they can turn it into a PSA about not doing your own construction if you don't know what you're doing first.

I too am glad that Da Vinci finally put in an appearance. I am a huge Cole Porter fan. I just love Frank's interpretation of the songs too ; )

I just knew you would get a kick out of this episode. Those RPs truly need your advice I must say. I too was a bit worried about those bricks and the load a wall like that puts on a roof. I'm not an engineer but my goodness they add weight! Tizoc is a multi talented guy. Just the muscles on him and the way he danced, wooo hooo, is all I can say. I did love Granny dancing with him ; )

I think Don Chuy just may get roped into this project, simply because MA and Frida really have no clue do they? The directions were so simple and he actually showed them too, and they still didn't get it! I want MA to participate and learn, by gum! I too can't see why Mini is all into MA or Lupe for that matter. These two women are so much stronger and with more brains than MA. Maybe there is a brain hidden under that hair and eventually it will make it's presence known, one can hope ; )

I agree with you about the apologies for Nepo and Lupita. But Nepo is starting to get on my nerves a bit. He looks like a little sulking boy, wanting his maypo and not getting it. He's starting to turn into a whiner in other words. That's probably why his wife left him, probrecita!

and MA needs to feel like he can go nuclear on someone, it seems.

As far as DiegoA's advise to Nepo, actually he recommended to Nepo that he needed to wait until Lupe cooled off on the nasty surprise evening... (of course Nepo protested at having to wait before he could have his powow with 'mi Lupita'...) THEN appologize to her. (which Nepo was a feeling a bit more in agreement with).
But if we look at it from Nepo's side/point of view... yes, 'el primo Mike' is a competition, but you don't know whether Lupita sees him the same way, so why declare war on someone who has not really shown to be an enemy yet... on someone who has not shown clearly that he is competing for the same prize... so although Nepo has the right to be jealous of anything masculine that is within 30 yards of Lupita and is not surnamed Menchaca or is Emiliano, he really has no proven motive to declare war on MA as the culprit of Lupita denying him what he wants. His first enemy/culprit is himself and his own lack of patience and searching for advise in the wrong place/person at first. At least Lupita has a good one (Carmelita). Even though right now Lupita is not following the advise of cutting Nepo off softly but swiftly and honestly.
 

...in that case, Marta, I do NOT agree with Diego's advice. I think Nepo should apologize as soon as possible, because that might actually help to cool Lupita down. That is, if I were in Lupita's shoes, I think I would get angrier and angrier with each passing moment that I didn't have an apology.

However, it is more important that Nepo understand why Lupita is angry. After the apology, he'd better start listening. If he'd been listening to Lupita, he would have heard all of her doubt and hesitation and reluctance and disinterest!

But you're totally right about Nepo's attitude towards MA. It's irrational. Anyway, even if Nepo did know for sure that MA was a "threat" to Nepo's relationship with Lupita, a smarter guy would realize that MA is not really the problem. The problem is that Nepo is not the man for Lupita. Otherwise, MA wouldn't be a threat!
 

If I were MA's structural engineer, I would have advised that he skip the bricks and stick with making improvements to the lightweight structure that was already there. Add some insulation and interior sheathing to those walls. We didn't get a good look at the roof, but it could probably be similarly fixed up. All this would cost less and be safer and more comfortable than all that brick. I think watching MA try to work with insulation and even a hammer and nails would be just as funny.

Liked Diego being the comforting voice of reason for his pouting dad. Nepo is well-meaning, but SO obtuse. And I agree, an apology is necessary, but not nearly as essential as his grasping exactly what he's doing wrong.
 

The only time I really enjoy Nepo is when he's with Guendy. His only functional instinct is to be jealous of My name is Mike. It may not be logical but is does seem accurate. Both he and MA need to buy a clue! He and Guendy both thought that little love nest was a winner. That is the clue that could hit him over the head.
