Upcoming Productions to Keep an Eye On - 2014

UPDATE: Blog Mom has moved the update to its own post, see New Productions on the Horizon, Updated
These are snippets of news on new telenovelas in production or starting on Univision or Telemundo probably airing in 2015.

PASION DE AMOR is a new telenovela produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández in a brand new story by Cuauthémoc Blanco for Televisa. It was confirmed that Esmeralda Pimentel landed the lead role in the highly anticipated drama and will be paired up with Erick Elias. Pimentel is known for her work on Abismo De Pasión, Cachito De Cielo, and De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero.

Claudia Ramírez is the antagonista. It also stars René Stickler, Eugenia Cauduro, Helena Rojo, a special participation by Alfonso Dosal and first actors Patricia Reyes Spíndola, Luis Couturier and Angelina Peláez. Production started in Mexico in February 4, 2014.

AMORES CON TRAMPA, for Univision, featuring Eduardo Yañez and Itati Cantoral. It is a comedy, based on the Chilean telenovela from last year called Somos los Carmonas. It plays like the Beverly Hillbillies - a rural family gets rich and moves to a posh neighborhood. Scheduled to start broadcasting when Mi Corazon es Tuyo ends.

C'mon folks, we need some more news of new telenovelas coming up.

Is anyone watching JANE THE VIRGIN (Mondays at 9 on The CW) and would like to start commenting? It's in English, set in Miami where legal and illegal money meets americanized Latin culture. There's intrigue, romance, multi-cultural characters and lots of fun.

Thank you so much, Anita. You're the best! Now I know there is an SN TN out there and it should be showing here sometime late summer/fall/winter (hopefully not) 2014.

So does that mean they selected Jorge Salinas for the lead for Mi Corazon es Tuyo? I know it was up in the air for a while. He was my first choice.

Cathyx: I hope so. He and SN would be a great match.

I can't wait for these new ones. I've been in a TN funk lately. Nothing is grabbing me enough to bother commenting on, not that it's the fault of the recappers, they're the only thing that's keeping the little interest I have left in TNs. It's the shows themselves that are lame.

I've seen the first episode of El Color de La Pasion. It has some serious promise and potential and anything by Robert Gomez Fernandez is gold (I'm not joking. He knows how to write them.)

Looks promising. I'm excited for La Gata mainly because Maite Perroni (Mi Pecado) is the reason I started watching novelas and I'm super sentimental about my actors. Silvia Navarro and Jorge Salinas is like a dream come true. El Color de la Pasion sounds exciting with CS's recommendation. I've only seen Esmeralda in villain roles but I think she could work a heroine. She has the big doe-eyed thing down. Sangre de Guerras's plot doesn't interest me that much but it does have Julian Gil in it. I though Cesar Evora was pinned for La Gata. Guess he made a switch. El Color de la Pasion started right after De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero so it might be a way until it comes to our screens unless it's really successful.

I get first dibs on Mi Corazon es Tuyo!

lol, UA. I might want to recap that one too. I'll have to see when it's airing first.

This is SO exciting that we will see the wonderful Silvia with Mr. Dimples, Jorge Salinas! I cannot wait!!!

Maite Perroni does absolutely nothing for me (sorry, Cassandra!). What I so very briefly saw of her in "Triunfo" did not interest me in the least. She has the tilted head look down pat.

Diego Oliviera! Holy Cow! Another handsome dude!!!

Things are looking up. Boy Howdy, things are looking up. :))

Fatima

Looking forward to Silvia & Jorge.

Color de Pasión is worth a try.

La Gata is a Mrs Mejia production & after CI I don't think I could take it or the non-galán Arenas. Maite is not one of my favorites either.

I still haven't dried out from Ruffo's last novela so I'm crossing that one off also.

Nanette
Love your Errol Flynn avatar. Wonder how many of you remember him, the original bad boy.

While we're calling dibs, I call dibs on El Color de la Pasion and maybe Fin del Mundo. I might try for La Gata as well.

Based on the producers and cast I am interested in the Pasion and Hasta el fin ones.

I love Maite for sentimental reasons but another Ms Mejia production scares the hell out of me.

Cathyx--The only reason I posted this was when I saw on a "legitimate" entertainment news channel that Jorge Salinas was picked. I couldn't just post one, so I poked around to find the others.

It sounds like it's going to be a sort of Mexican comedic risqué version of The Sound of Music, no?

Anita- Thanks for the post of the upcoming tn. We were just discussing SN's new one on the Que Te Quiero line the other day, and I described it as a twisted version of the Sound of Music. Great minds, amiga. :)

Glad to hear Jorge has signed on. I think they'll have fun together, and they had great chemistry in Labios Rojos. A comedy tn is a nice change of pace for both of them too.

Victoria Ruffo is going to be the protagonist of Malquerida? And Cristian Meier is going to be her galan?! Lucky woman.

Until Nathalie Lartilleux shows me she can make a tn that isn't incomprehensible schlock, I can't support anything she puts out, even if I like the actors.

I'm so disappointed. I wanted Jorge Salinas for La Malquerida. And Ana Brenda as his protagonista. But I got mexican comedy, which i don't like at all and Ruffo which I don't like either.
La Gata is the copypast of CI and others Natalie novelas. So without me.
At first I wanted to watch Pasión de Amor, but I didn't like the trailer.
Nicandro production I also don`t like.
Sooo a lot of free time for old novelas.
Alegria

Cass G.: I'm sentimental about my actors, too. I started with the MEPS actors and went from there. SN is my all time fav.

I like the idea of a whacked out version of Sound of Music and looking forward to seeing SN play comedy.

Variopinta: TAoRH--one of my all time fav movies. As I've mentioned on other TN lines, Errol Fynn is the reason I'm a film historian today. I fell in love with him and Captain Blood when I was 16 (eons ago).

Nanette

Okay I saw the trailer for El Color de la Pasion and I am so in. If you guys need another recapper for your extensive team let me know because I would love to start on one of these novelas!

Meier and Ruffo as protagonists? Has the world really ended?
Im so dumbstruck that this is happening. It may be good but..probably not.

So exited for the new SN and Salinas novela! They'd make a very cute couple and the story is fun as well.Silvia's prota's are always so feisty.

La Gata sounds good - Arenas isn't that bad and Maite well, I kind of fell in love with her in Mi Pecado. But even if their acting is good Lartilleux will ruin the story. First 30 eps will be fantastic/kinda good and then it just goes into crazyland.

Still though,very exited!

I just checked VR and CM's ages. They are either going to have to make Cristian look 10 years older than his 43 years or struggle to make Victoria 10 years younger than her 51 years.

I thought she already looked like a primera actriz in TdA. I didn't watch CdL, but didn't she have at least one grown son that had gone to medical school?

P.S. Have never seen Cristian Meier in anything. Mmmmmm, good eye candy.

Anita- VR had THREE grown sons in Corona, AND at first had hunky Arturo Carmona (age 37) interested in her. And at the end, ended up with hunky Pedro Moreno (age 32). She must have a VERY good agent!

Vivi--I knew she had three sons (didn't know about the younger lovers, though). What I was referring to is that it takes a few years of post-college education to become a doctor, putting him at 27+ when the tn began in "their" present day. That would put her on the edge of 45-47. I guess that's not too old for a protagonist. Sort of like Erika Buenfil in AV and I loved her in that.

I'm planning to give all of them a try, but not promising to stick to any except Mi Corazon, even if the story disappoints (as in QBA).

Silvia still talks too fast for my old ears and Jorge has a habit of speaking very soft and low (unless he's Rogelio). I'm watching Cuando Seas Mia and Silvia is sure showing her spunk. When she cries, though, she cries like a real person. CSM is the earlier version of Destilando Amor, which I tried to like, but just couldn't get myself into it since it is now showing at the same time as CSM.

looking forward to la gata Maite Perroni has been one of my favorites since Rebelde and I, like Cassandra and others, am sentimental about my actors

I'm kinda a lurker - even picked the name cause it sounded lurkey and in no way reliable enough to recap but I'll make an extra effort if Maite is there

Anita: Christian Meier was Zorro on Telemundo a few yrs ago it was good and yes he is yummy but I can't stand VR

I liked Maite Perroni in Mi Pecado and in Cuidado con el angel but I never saw Triunfo del amor or Cachito de Cielo (thank goodness, cause I heard it was bad). After seeing Daniel Arenas in CI, I think he will be a great galan for Maite in the show. Hope the plot for La Gata turns out good, if the writers can make the show well worth watching. That'll be one on my list to watch.

Also, I liked Silvia Navarro in Amor Bravio. After seeing her in that show, I'll definitely want to see in Mi Corazon es Tuyo (a Sound of Music like story). Her pairing with Jorge Salinas sounds just right, and as some of you said a dream come true and yes it is a perfect match. After seeing SN in Amor Bravio, I could watch this show.

Hasta el Fin del Mundo, I don't know about that one. I heard Julian Gil will be in it as will Diego Olivera, but this time Diego will be the protagonist along with Claudia Alvarez and Marjorie de Sousa. I could give this show a chance but I hope it doesn't end up a flop like Mentir Para Vivir.

I don't know if I'll watch La Malquerida despite the fact that I have not seen VR in a novela since ENDA years ago, due to her galan being younger than her.

I'm intrigued by Hasta el Fin. I read that it's 4 sisters who own a chocolate shop. Can anyone confirm? Remake of Dulce Amor?

So Blanca Soto has signed a contract with Telemundo. Her first project apparently will be La mujer de acero...a narconovela.

http://www.peopleenespanol.com/article/blanca-soto-tambien-se-une-las-filas-de-telemundo

"Según reportes de la prensa mexicana, Soto firmó contrato con la cadena para realizar varios proyectos, el primero de los cuales sería la narconovela La mujer de acero. Dicha novela cuenta la historia de Sara Aguilar, una mujer de 28 años que sufre el asesinato de su marido el día de su boda con él."

I adore Blanca, statuesque drink of water that she is, but the idea of her doing a narco show at face value is almost as DOES NOT COMPUTE as Aracely Arambula doing La Patrona...

Lol! I saw that last night and just couldn't believe it.

I just ran across this link about upcoming Telemundo telenovelas:

http://soaps.about.com/od/Novelas/fl/Telemundo-Introduces-Five-New-Novelas-for-the-2014-2015-Season.htm

Any thoughts on what would be good?

Wow. Lots of narconovelas. I'm not wild about that. El Jardinero looks interesting to me. That Reyes one sounds like Fuego en la Sangre.

Blanca soto should just do another telenovela for Televisa. Star with Men like Sebastian Rulli, David Zepeda, maybe even with Cristian de la Fuente.

There is an app on Google play store it's called Mexico tv and it has a bunch of channels like canal de las estrellas I have it and I watch el.color de la pasion I can guarantee that it's a good tn and last night quiero amarte ended and it was prity good today starts la mal querida I'm going to watch it for Brandon peniche and for osvaldo de Leon and I red it to.see if it's good and seems good but get the app and see if it's any good

I would love a shot at recapping MCET, is there still a spot open on that team?

Do you watch the Google Play Store app for Mexican TV only on your phone or tablet. I don't see a way to install it on a PC.

I just saw a clip on Univision during Premios Juventud that

"Hasta el Fin del Mundo" with Marjorie de Sousa, Claudia Álvarez & Diego Olivera

will start Augusta 18th at 9 p.m.

I am surprise that Silvia Navarro and Jorge Salinas are the protagonist of Mi Corazon es tuyo, excellent actors doing always sirious rolls and now with these lousy jobs

Hola Amigos--The end of 2014 is nigh.

I just checked out Aleta's link. It still works. It's got fresh news on upcoming telenovelas.

I'll re-update the original post later to add:

Que Te Perdone Dios, a remake of Abrazame Muy Fuerte. It is a Televisa production by Angelli Nesma (who did LQLVMR). It will be on Univision later in 2015. In Mexico it will start Jan. 19.

Amores de Barrio - Don't know anything else at this time.

Amores Con Trampa (see Original Post) - I can add that Aldo Guerra will portray Big Ed Yanez' son. Aldo Guerra is the son of Rogelio Guerra.

Where's Aleta's link?

Um. TVN de Chile has a novela de época coming up.

http://www.tvn.cl/teleseries/laposeida/

It's about the last documented exorcism in Chile.

I've got TVN with my cable package, but I guess not many people have that.

Here are some pictures from early production of La Poseida.

http://www.tvn.cl/teleseries/laposeida/inicio-grabaciones-la-poseida--1622010

Thanks Salvador for that detailed list. Other than QTPD,there isn't much to hold my interest unless Telemundo comes up with something.

Since you said you like dark novelas so much, I was wondering which novela is your favorite of all time.

My Youtube channel will be very busy this summer, but at least I can watch back-to-back episodes and at my own convenience.

BLog mom here, I am CLOSING comments on this post because I'm moving Stevey's summary to its own current post. See http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2015/04/via-stevey-new-productions-on-horizon.html
