De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #25- Fri 4/11
The next morning, Alonso wakes up on the couch. Irene starts picking up some of the stuff she'd knocked around. She says she's feeling better, but she's sorry she wrecked his place. More hugs. She's apologetic, but Alonso says he's happy because she got through it. He agrees to let her clean up, since she says she's going to feel bad until she does.
Diego calls Natalia to tell her that Vicente is in the hospital and he won't be coming in to the office today. Diego gives her instructions about a folder that needs to go to the plant. Diana brings Diego a coffee and asks about Irene. Diego isn't sure she should be there, or what condition she's in. The doctor comes out to say the angioplasty is a go and takes Diego back to see Vicente.
Natalia worries about how Diego is doing and hopes Vicente gets better. As Karina walks in, Natalia tells her that Vicente is in the hospital. Karina calls Diana to see how she's doing.
Tiburcio goes to confession. He tells the padre someone's in the hospital and it's his fault. He backs up and tells the story about Irene and the baby…he was supposed to take the baby and give it away, but the girl figured it out and ran away….
Diego begs his unconscious Grumps not to leave him behind. "You're all I've got. Don't leave me!" Vicente mumbles behind his oxygen mask and passes out again.
Natalia leaves the office, probably waiting for a bus or taxi to take her to the plant, and sees Andres. He was trying to hide behind a newspaper, but he failed his stealth check.
Tiburcio says Vicente had a heart attack when he found out the truth. The priest encourages Tiburcio to tell the truth to Irene as well, but he's scared to do it. The priest plays hardball…"You're not going to get God's forgiveness or put your conscience at rest just confessing to me!" He says Irene's suffering must be greater than Tiburcio's so tell her the truth and end it already. Wow. Go padre!
Natalia finds out that Andres has been stalking her all morning to find out who "the guy" is. She tells him for the millionth time that she's not into him. "But if you're not dating anyone, then why won't you date me?" Oh, seriously, Andres…if she has to explain that to you, you're beyond hope. Natalia says if he wants to be friends…that's FRIENDS, Andres…then he knows where she lives, but he really needs to stop stalking her at work.
Diego takes the oxygen mask off and Vicente calls him Rodrigo. So Diego plays along. "The girl. Rodrigo. Irene. The girl. So many years. The girl, Rodrigo." He gets agitated, so Diego puts the oxygen mask back on and calls for a nurse, who gives Grumps a sedative.
Louse makes it to a doctor's office and says he bumped into a counter. The doctor wants to give him a tetanus shot, an antibiotic, and an anti-inflammatory. He leaves to get the drugs, but they're out of anti-inflammatories right now. He'll send someone over to Louse's hotel with it tomorrow when they get some more.
Irene has cleaned everything up, but now she's worried about what was broken. She offers to cook, but Alonso says he doesn't have much…Irene takes a look and agrees, but she starts pulling things out of the fridge.
Carmen sees Louse leaving the doctor's office, but she left her phone back at the fonda, so she can't call Eleazar. She sends her friend on without her and runs back the way they came.
Diego goes back out to the waiting room and tells Diana that Grumps thought he was Rodrigo. "So much for loving us both equally." Diana actually does a decent job of consoling him. Diego mentions that he also said Irene's name and said "the girl."
The Cop Crew meet in Eleazar's office. Kimberly comes to coo in his general direction and ends up sitting in his lap eating his face as Carmen comes running in to tell him she just saw Louse. She writes down the address for him and says she was too scared to follow him. She runs out of the office and Eleazar tells Kimberly he's busy and gets the rest of the crew assembled. Kimberly complains that he seems to care more about his "friend" than her and Eleazar is on the VERGE of telling her that the only woman he loves is…is…is…come on, you dolt, say "Carmen!"…but Carmen walks in and he grabs Kimberly and says "you" and starts smooching on her. Ugh!!!!! Carmen grabs her purse and leaves again. I don't even like Kimberly and I hate that he's leading her on. He hustles Kimberly out of there and then calls himself an idiot. I don't hear anybody disagreeing with you, El. Not in this house.
Karina goes to the hospital for an update on Vicente. Well, and probably to gossip, in all fairness. She actually calls him a "nice" old man. Seriously, Karina? When Diego leaves, Karina asks Diana for all the juicy details. Diana is thrilled that Vicente's out of commission…she can console Diego. She smarms that Irene doesn't even know, cause she's shacked up at Alonso's place doing "intensive detox." She encourages Karina to go check up on him. Urgh!
Irene fixes a salad and Alonso jokes that he's sure he's got some lettuce somewhere since he thought it was safe. He explains about ridding the house of booze. "How can I thank you for this?" "By never drinking again." Irene hopes she can. She asks him to tell her a joke if he wants to see her smile again. But Alonso says he's horrible at telling jokes. She agrees to tell her favorite joke, if he promises to laugh. "There was this old couple who lived in a nursing home and they were so in love that they got married and got their own room and a double bed. So, on the wedding night, they got all gussied up and got in bed and the little old man took the little old woman's hand…and he fell asleep. Next day, same thing. Next day, when the old man reaches for the old woman's hand she says 'Sorry, honey, not tonight. I have a headache.'" Irene does the snoring sounds and the little old lady voice and everything. Alonso barely laughs. Then he grabs Irene's hand and pretends he's asleep, complete with snoring sounds. Irene smacks him with a towel "Help! I'm being assaulted!" They laugh and make googly eyes at each other.
Outside the police station, Kimberly feels the need to ask Carmen why she has a problem with Eleazar being madly in love with her. Carmen says she's imagining things. "I'd never go for him." One of Eleazar's guys jokes that the two women were talking about him.
Irene makes a mean pasta, per Alonso. She jokes, asking if that means she can get married now. Their nice lunch is interrupted by effing Karina ringing the bell. Don't answer the door, man! Alonso motions to Irene to be quiet. He tells her it was Karina. Irene wonders what he would have said to her, you know, to avoid any misunderstandings. "Why would I need to tell her anything? There's nothing going on between us." "Oh, but I thought she's the one you're in love with." Nope. And Karina rings again saying "I heard you! Open up! It's important! Don Vicente's in the hospital!" Irene heads for the bedroom to grab her clothes. Karina makes a nasty face as she tells Irene which hospital he's at. Alonso agrees to take Irene home to change before he takes her to the hospital and then practically has to physically remove Karina from the premises.
Sexter gets a call from the legal department of his bank, so he pretends to be someone else. If he doesn't pay up, they're going to come after him. He gets off the phone and wonders how he's going to get money out of Diana. He gets the text from Diana about being at the hospital "pretending to be the good wife." Too bad she told him which hospital.
A guy comes to Diego's office, needing his signature on an important piece of paperwork. Natalia tries to call, but it goes to voicemail. She gets the paperwork and tells the guy she'll get a signature.
The doctor who treated Louse has no problem giving his location to the cops. He seems surprised. Really? He bought that story and didn’t recognize it as a gunshot wound?
Diego's not in the mood for lunch. Diana cracks and her "comforting" heads into "whatever, get over it" territory. It's not lost on Diego.
The cop crew pull up at the hotel and surround it, while Eleazar, Jackie, and Morales go in.
Irene runs upstairs to change as Alonso and Lala touch base. Poor Lala. She's actually worried, but they don't have any news for her.
Jackie disconnects the desk clerk's phone call and Eleazar points a gun in his face as Jackie shows him the drawing of Louse. "We know this guy's here. What room is he in?" The desk clerk tells them and Eleazar tells him to back away from the desk as they're heading upstairs. Ouch! If they really expected the desk clerk to give them away, then why not leave someone to watch him?
As Irene is combing back downstairs, Tiburcio asks to speak with her. She brushes him off, saying now is not the time and the past can't be fixed with an apology.
Jackie knocks on the door, saying she's from the pharmacy, with his medicine. Louse comes to the door with his gun and he and Eleazar both get a shot off on each other (or possibly it was Morales who fired). Louse takes it high on the left shoulder and Eleazar looks like he got shot right in the middle of the chest.
Natalia comes in to the hospital with the paperwork, which Diego both recognizes and signs. He tells Natalia Vicente's doing better and thanks her for asking. As for how Diego's doing…"Worried. He's all I have and I don't want to lose him." Natalia tells him to have faith and that she's there for him, whatever he needs. Diana comes screeching in. Sexter comes swanning in shortly after Diego has told Diana to keep it down.
Good news…Eleazar was wearing a vest, but he still got knocked out. Jackie rouses him. They've already called for an ambulance. Eleazar also calls Alberto to give him the news and ask him to meet them at the Red Cross to take Louse's statement.
Diana has apparently left with Sexter. Diego apologizes to Natalia, but she tells him not to worry and goes to drop the paperwork off back at the office.
Diana screeches at Sexter outside and tells him Natalia's the one who busted them kissing. He tries to get cozy with her, but Diana's having none of it. Natalia sees her outside and asks how far she's going to go with this farce. She threatens to tell Diego everything, but Diana says it's too late…Diego thinks Oliverio's her cousin. She spreads more lies about how Diego's had lots of lovers and he tells them all he's leaving Diana, but he never does. Natalia makes a worried face. Seriously, Natalia? And what's up with Diana's sudden nausea? Pregnancy? After-effects of having her stomach pumped? She heads inside to hurl and nearly makes Karina hurl when she hears it. Diana complains about Natalia showing up. She blames her outrage at Natalia for feeling sick. She crows about the lies she just told Natalia, but Karina says she shouldn't feel so confident. Whatever. Diana doesn't take Natalia seriously. Karina complains about finding Irene at Alonso's place.
Diego gives Irene the update about Grumps and says he was asking about her. Irene goes in to see him.
Tadeo is heading for a doctor's office at the same hospital.
The cops and Alberto show up to take Louse's testimony. He won't say anything without his lawyer present. Eleazar says sure, he's welcome to call his lawyer…assuming he can find a lawyer that wants anything to do with his case, considering everything he's being charged with (including attempted murder of a police officer) and the fact that his boss has probably already put a price on his head. Louse needles Eleazar about really only being interested in knowing whether Carmen is innocent or not. He starts right off with that--yes, she is, and he's the one who put the drugs in her suitcases.
Irene stands by Vicente's bed. She tells him to forget their argument and just get better. She wants them to have a better relationship and be at peace. She says there's nothing she can do about her daughter's death and Vicente scrunches his eyebrows at her behind his oxygen mask
Monday: Diana's knocked up…but she hasn't been doing the deed with Diego. Diego tells Natalia he can't get a divorce right now.
Labels: te-quiero
We also had 1 mention of absent Rodrigo, yet another avoidance of the truth about his feelings by Eleazar, another big lie about Diego by Diana, and the capture of Car-louse. If only there had been some smoochies, my night would be complete :D
You gave us all of the juicy details - gracias. And your comment was spot on, some important events occurred last night, not the least of which was Car-louse's capture and of course, Diana's pivotal pregnancy. I'm sure the screechy, far from sweet talker will manage to wiggle out of this dilemna somehow.
"Oh, seriously, Andres…if she has to explain that to you, you're beyond hope" and “He hustles Kimberly out of there and then calls himself an idiot. I don't hear anybody disagreeing with you, El. Not in this house” were among my favorites.
I feel Andres has an important part to play here although not quite sure what it is.
"She says there's nothing she can do about her daughter's death and Vicente scrunches his eyebrows at her behind his oxygen mask". Well stated.
The biggest question now is will he tell Irene the truth?
Kat, a terrific read.
Diana
So many moments last night!! I was right there with during Tibu's confession. It was refreshing to have someone say "suelta la sopa...it's for the best." So often we are tortured by "DON'T suelta la sopa; it's for the best." Go padre!
I am royally pithed at El. He *is* an idiot. No arguments at this house, either.
I confess that I love to hate Esmeralda's portrayal of the cliched villain.
Is it just me or does this seem to move at a good clip? Last night seemed especially filled with happenings.
Costume note: I ADORED Irene's hospital outfit. I love her costuming the most. Oh, and they had Nat in that purple she looks so good in, too.
Pobre Diana-spawn. If she really is pregnant. All we saw was the stick, but sometimes they're wrong. What was that phrase from Grey's Anatomy..."Hostile womb." If anyone's got on, it's Diana! I think I'd rather it turn out that she's faking, 'cause that baby does NOT deserve the hot mess it would be born into.
This novela is not the usual stupid cliches, we have had some but it's ok.
Pero, dónde está Rodrigo?
TG Diana is not fainting, escaping another cliche.
This novela is kind of fun, unlike the other one I'm watching, La Viuda Negra. Wish I could find someone else that was watching LVN. It's well done & about the real narco godmother.
This tn is going at a good clip and is not trite. As others have noted, its light and bright especially in comparison to PSMA and Robo. It actually complements QPTR as a feel good tn.
I was very relieved to find out the reason why the priest was so attached to Natalia. When she first arrived at his residence in Mexico that hug seemed a little too tight. Then when he punched out Diego for Nat's sake I didn't know what to think of their relationship. I knew there had to be a reason. Anyway, like I said, I'm glad that was revealed.
Vicente is so unworthy of all the love Diego and Irene have for him. He doesn't even mention Diego in his drugged up ramblings. And misguided Diego thinks Vicente is referring to Irene in an affectionate way by saying "la niña", when what he is referring to is the baby he intended to steal from her.
I hope Nat doesn't hold her tongue about Diana having a lover when Diego inevitably decides he can't leave Diana because she's pregnant.
At first all the girls looked alike to me—they all seemed to have the same nose. I thought Diana and Karina were sisters. I think Brigitte and Natalia look like sisters. Before we knew Nat was the adopted one, I thought it might be Brigitte since she and Irene are both artists. B. would have loved that—a mother who comes from money.
I loved the meet cute between Nat and Diego and how they both couldn’t help smiling at each other. She has one of those Julia Roberts megawatt smiles.
I noticed the look between Carmen and Luz when Carlos said he was from Spain. Car seems to go for the foreign guys.
If Karina is so incompetent, why is she still working for Vicente?
OK what was up with the photos of Diego—doing nothing suspicious?
Tarot cards are not that specific re: Diego married. But if they’re going there, why doesn’t she read that Diego has a twin.
It took me a few minutes to realize that Nat running into Tad was significant. Duh!
I loved in the drunk scene (eps ago) how El told everyone that his jefe was calling and then answered the phone with “mama.
When did Irene’s mother die?
Obviously Alonso is not interested in Karina. Wish she could get that into her thick skull. Thank goodness he let Irene know that in no uncertain terms.
The bit players have interesting faces.
Why do men in these things wear ties when they are relaxing.
Bright green seems to be the new color.
The couches in the Garcia home remind me of the couches in Montserrat’s bedroom in Robo. Looks like the same type of print only one has flowers and the other has birds. Also, the couches in Alonso’s apartment are very BUSY.
OT: the last I heard Jorge Salinas was going to be opposite Silvia Navarro in her next.
Nanette
Kat—so glad that you’re doing the recaps for this. I love your sense of humor and we get two for the price of one with Mr. 5 Ft’s regular contributions.
So Rodrigo knew about the baby, but Diego didn’t.
Wanted to smack El when he told Kim that he loved her. Stupid man. On a side note, I realized the other day that he is quite handsome, isn’t he? Not that the fact will excuse his stupidity throughout.
Flaco says the Karina was a child actor. I can see her being a cute juvenile physically speaking (let’s hope she wasn’t this annoying). At first, none of the characters irritated me, which was refreshing, but I have to admit Karina fits firmly in that spot, now. I don’t even mind Diana that much.
When I saw the previews that El got shot. I was “oh no”. Duh! Forgot about bulletproof vest.
Pleasantly surprised Carlos cleared Carmen so quickly.
Diana pregnant. Not the “get you drunk and trick you into thinking the baby is yours” plot. PLEEEASE.
I'm a bit worried. So much has happened in just 25 eps. How are they going to keep this momentum going for 186. I fear stupidity will step in for many, many eps (I'm looking at you Robo).
