De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #32 4/22/14

De Que son como hermanos, son como hermanos.

Straight to the new....
Lupita tries to convince big sis she saw mom kissing Eleazar, but Natalia isn't buying it. Lupita tells her to go look for herself.

Carmen is at the table beating herself up about the kiss. What if Abdul, Paolo or Brigitte had come home? Natalia comes in and tells her she's just getting water.

Eleazar is agonizing (*ahem*), but he's happy that Carmen kissed him.

Natalia tells Lupita she must have imagined the kissing. Lupita swears she didn't. Should would like Eleazar and her mother to be novios.

Unable to sleep, Eleazar is forced to take a cold shower.

Carmen goes to confession. Padre Juancho is not happy at all. He asks Carmen what kind of barbaján (coarse rube) she's gotten involved with this time. She confesses it's Eleazar.

Diego and Natalia are making the business trip. He's double checking everything. Natalia has everything. Diego tells her to put on music. Their "song"comes on. Diego acts like he's never  heard it.

Padre Juancho can't believe it! She and Eleazar are like siblings. She tells him what happened and that she made the first move. Eleazar responded with ganas enormes (hahahahaha!!!!) Padre wonders how long she's liked him and she's not sure she does. He tells her she was just carried away (but it sounded more like hot and bothered.) She thinks it was much more romantic. She wants his advice, but he figures she always ends up doing what she wants anyway.

Tadeo comes to visit Irene at Caprico. He brings her a painting. She accepts it.  He sees her sketches and thinks she's very talented. He always felt she would go places. She seems really flattered by his words.

Carmen. Wonders why she bothered with Padre. She'll just take care of it herself.

Kimberly comes to visit Eleazar at work. Edwin Morales fawns all over her and then asks himself what the heck he's doing making moves on Eleazar's woman. Make all the moves you want, I say.

Eleazar goes to talk to Padre...who continues to be a stick in the mud. He tells Eleazar he's just like all the other guys she fell for. Would it have been so hard for Eleazar to tell Padre that unlike the other guys, he actually LOVES her????????

Carmen goes to talk to Eleazar. She wonders to herself if they were just taken by the moment or if Eleazar maybe likes her. Unfortunately, she runs into Kimberly in Eleazar's office. Kimberly gets catty about Eleazar being her man and the wonderful night they shared together recently. Carmen leaves.

Diego makes his presentation. He makes the sale.

Alonso calls Irene and asks her out to eat. They can celebrate her first day at Caprico. She declines saying she's already accepted an invitation. He hears Tadeo discussing seafood as she hangs up. Alonso looks angry and jealous.

Lupita and Paolo are heading home when a big limo pulls up in front of the school. Andres is driving. Chato is in the back. He's brought a big, creepy, stuffed bear.

Eleazar makes it back to the office. He grouses about Padre Juancho. Kimberly slimes on him and tells him she got them a house for the weekend.

Lupita gets home and drags Carmen out of the kitchen to see Chato. Carmen doesn't look exactly happy. If you ask me, Lupita looks a little skeptical too.

Carmen thinks the person Chato should apologize too is Lupita. Lupita wants Carmen to give Chato a chance. Aw c'mon, kid...you've been pretty smart up to know.

Eleazar makes excuses to Kimberly. She gets a little annoyed and tells him to let her know when he can finally find some time for her...that is if she'll be available. She leaves. Eleazar grumbles that this is happening because the only woman he loves is Carmen. He leaves.

Diego seals the deal. He wants to get  lunch. Natalia brought a sandwich. He can find someplace for her to eat he sandwich and he'll eat at a restaurant.

The older kids don't think Carmen should give Chato a chance. Chato tells Carmen he stood her up because his mom was sick. For 7 years? Well, he lost his passport and couldn't leave the US for four years and for the other three he was just ashamed.

Tadeo and Irene talk about his career. She asks if he ever thought of returning to Mexico during that time. He says he had no reason to come back to Mexico. At least he admits he was an idiot to say that. Alonso has followed them and is spying.

Chato tells Carmen he was afraid of getting married and becoming a father to 4 with one on the way. He keeps calling her "Carmela" even when she asks him not to. I really don't like this oily good-for-nothing. The older kids wonder what they are saying and badmouth Chato. Lupita tells them to lay off.  Chato wants to win Carmen back. RUN, CARMEN!!

Diego drives by a nice outdoor area and asks Natalia if she could eat her sandwich there. She is about to get out of the car, but he suggests she could eat her sandwich at the restaurant. That way he won't have to come back and get her.

Tad asks why Irene decided to accept his invitation. Irene tell him she's trying to heal and reparing things with him is part of that. She lets him know they have no future, though.   Alonso crashes into a waiter while he's leaving and Irene sees him. Alonso pays for all the stuff he broke and Irene invites him to join them.

Carmen wants all the kids to approve Chato coming back into their lives.

Lala sends Tibu to the butcher.

Chato runs into Eleazar. He tells Eleazar that Carmen was pretty happy to see him again. He could tell by the sparkle in her eyes.  He keeps calling him cuñado...since he and Carmen were like siblings. He invites El for a drink so they can catch up. Eleazar says the flowers are for his mom. Chato leaves. Eleazar abuses the roses and curses karma.

Natalia loves the restaurant. She'll pay her own bill if it's expensive.

Brigitte gives Carmen a hard time about giving Chato a second chance. Carmen says it's Lupita's dad. What if it were Brigitte's dad? Puh-leeze, says Brigitte. What would she want with him? (Ha!! I bet if he had a big enough bank account...)

Natalia chokes on her sandwich. Literally.

Eleazar acts like a jerk to Carmen about the Chato business. Carmen tries to downplay last night's smoochies. He snags some empanadas, too.

Tibu sees Padre Juancho.

Diego and Natalia clear things up.

Avances

  • Diego and Natalia have a car accident.
  • Kimberly and Eleazar.
  • Carmen slaps Chato after he gets fresh.

Thank you for the recap!

I'm glad Diego and Nat made up, but I wish the show would clear up these mixups with the three main couples and move things along.

I didn't like Padre's scolding. Yes, Carmen has a bad history, but she's allowed to date again!

Yeah, I was not cool with Padre last night. He judged Carmen based on past behavior and assumed the worst about Eleazar. Just when we thought there was going to be some progress on that front, Kimberly, the Padre and Chato ruin it. Poor Carmen was really confused about her feelings for Eleazar and wanted some advice and the padre blew her off. Then when she decided to go right to Eleazar and ask for some clarification, she runs into Kimberly. To top it off Chato shows up. I really, really, really don't like that guy (though I do love the casting. Ricardo Fastlicht could totally be Lupita's dad.)

I was glad that Irene made it clear to Tad that they were never ever getting back together. Now she just needs to open her eyes about Alonso.

I think the problem is Padre is too emotionally invested in the Garcia family, and I'd like to know why (besides him finding Natalia in the manger & Carmen taking her). It's this closeness/emotional investment that had the gossips in Tuxpan whispering that Padre was one of Carmen's baby daddies.

BUT, in Padre's defense, Carmen does not know how to control her loins. That's why she has 4 kids with 4 baby daddies. She was ready to have sex with Eleazar that night, condom or not. That "might" be cute for somebody Natalia and Brigitte's age (actually it's not) but it ain't cute when you're in your 40s. So Padre is probably tired of Carmen confessing her sexual sins, then repeating the same behavior over and over again.

I'd like to know why Carmen falls in love so easily/wants to have sex so readily. People may say I'm slut-shaming but it's this lack of discernment that got Carmen hooked up with the likes of Chato & Carlos.

Also in defense of Padre, Eleazar seems to have been a big horn dog/player so why wouldn't he assume that Eleazar was also after Carmen for sex?

Eleazar is going to have to dump Kimberly, not because of Carmen, but because he doesn't care about her and Carmen is going to have to keep her legs closed to discern whether she really wants to be with Eleazar b/c he's a good guy or if she just has the hots for him. I think Carmen is confused on that front (plus taking it to the next level with a friend is very risky) and she needs not add sex to that tricky mix. JMO.

Gracias, Sara! Yeah, I bet Eleazar has ganas enormes! Too bad Carmen's not going to be able to verify that for a while.

I did not like Padre pulling Carmen out of the confessional to scold her in front of whoever might be listening. She came to him as a priest. If he wants to deny her absolution or tell her kissing isn't a sin, he can do that from the booth. If he wants to talk to her about how he doesn't think her behavior is ok, they can have that conversation at the kitchen table...not standing in the aisle of the church! And what's with everybody saying Eleazar and Carmen are "like siblings"...since when do they get to decide?

I don't know the story with the rest of Carmen's baby daddies, but as far as Chato goes, it looks like they had enough of a relationship that the kids knew him, they had planned a wedding, and the gutless jerk stood her up on their wedding day. That is WAY different from the way Eleazar and the town biddies talk about Carmen and her men. They made it sound like she got pregnant from a bunch of one-night stands. Being stood up at the altar is not the same thing. This is the first time we've heard the actual story behind one of the guys and not just the recriminations, so it's hard for me to judge whether Carmen keeps making bad decisions or we only realize they were bad because we're looking at it after the fact. Was Carlos really a bad pick or was he a bad person who hid his intentions well? We know about the men Carmen took up with--and five isn't all that many for a woman her age--but we don't know how many she's rejected. And unlike Chato with his "I was scaaaaared" bullcrap, Carmen gets things done. And it's not just that she had the kids, so of course she had to raise them...she took in Natalia, too, and there was no obligation to do that with two kids already, one more on the way, and the worthless sperm donors all gone. I don't look down on Carmen for having a libido. I look down on those men for behaving with no sense of responsibility and no honor.

I'm glad the kids gave Andres a talking-to for his behavior last night. I think it was horribly disloyal of him to help Chato stalk his daughter and then go pick her up without talking to Carmen about it first.

I'm starting to wonder if Tad's going to be the one to tell Irene that Alonso's in love with her or if he thinks he might still have a chance with her, so he's keeping it to himself.

Oh, and Diego and Natalia are "on" again? I barely even noticed!

Tks Sara, & 5ft for yesterday.

2 real funny cute scenes, Lupita leaving the room & leaning back watching El & Carmen kissing & Carmen getting rid of El with his ganas enormes. Surprised Uni didn't cut that scene, too suggestive for us puritans.
Really, you tell a priest about your love life? That wasn't a confession, it was confiding.

They only really dumb things about this novela, are no mention of a twin bro & no mention of what Diego (did), but then we wouldn't have a story.

Sara thanks so much for your recap and ITA Padre was really off last night. He was judgmental w/Carmen and wouldn't even listen to El.

Yes, Anon207 the Padre is too emotionally invested w/the Garcias and needs some distance. And when does screaming and humiliating someone in church, as Kat noted, lead to a positive result? He should have talked to her like an adult whiling gently reminding her of her past mistakes.

Kat, I agree that Tad wants a chance w/Irene but not sure if he will keep what he knows about Alonso secret. He will probably lie to Alonso and tell him he and Irene are an item.

Alonso
enjoy!

Vario- I thought Lupita's little lean back to see her mom and El. That actress can really steal a scene.

Anon207--I COMPLETELY agree that Eleazar needs to dump Kimberly. I don't like her, but she deserves to be told the truth. There will never be anything between her and Eleazar. And your mention of Eleazar as a horn dog has me thinking....

Carmen has a history of rather quickly "giving in to her instincts" and now it seems El has, too. I find that interesting. Maybe in their stubborness they've been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Sara, this was a delightful read! Not only do you recount the details to perfection but you inject wit and humor in to boot!

"Eleazar is agonizing (*ahem*), but he's happy that Carmen kissed him", "Nadia and Vic are happy to have escaped while Ale is anguished", "Make all the moves you want, I say and "Eleazar abuses the roses and curses karma" were among my many favorites.

I'll join the chorus in expressing disappointment in the Padre last night. As you noted Kat and Karen, his methods left a lot to be desired. I was surprised as his tirade seemed out of character. From what we've seen prior, it is clear he could not love Carmen or her family more than if she were his daughter. There was no patience or understanding last night! What he said, how he said it and humiliating Carmen publically was cringeworthy. Perhaps some distance might be best here.

Carmen needs to defend herself to no one. She is an amazing mother and friend. She and Eleazar both need to get their respective houses in order and face facts. They are in love and perfect together. I'm not understanding the sibling thing here either. Don't they say the most solid relationships begin as friendships?

Sara, thanks again!

Diana

Sara. Thanks for the recap.

El (Guaypo) was in a bad way last night after Carmen got his hopes up (heh) and then pushed him out the door.

By the way, I cannot remember seeing a novela with a police officer as a galan before .

In real life, people sometimes finally end up with a childhood friend or teenage sweetheart. I know a woman who was married twice, divorced twice before reconnecting with a high school boyfriend. (Her first husband was also a high school beau.)
