De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #38- Mon 4/30

De que se emborrachó, se emborrachó

Yep, it's true…Karina is, in fact, working at the Coffee Shop Company.  And not getting fired, at least for now.  She offers Alonso a freebie with his coffee and he accepts a "cuernito" (horn…either a croissant or a horn-shaped pan dulce with lots of sugar on it).

Diego swears to Natalia that he really hasn't been with Diana since he realized Natalia was the love of his life.  Natalia believes him, but she's still worried about the baby.  They both agree they want to spend the rest of their lives together and smooch on it.

Diana's clothes don't fit and she blames the baby.  She summons Hilda and asks her to get bandages.  She refuses to buy maternity clothes and swears she'll hide her belly until she gives birth.  "But what if it's bad for the baby?"  Hilda asks.  As if Diana would care about that.

All of Carmen's extra "help" is turning out to be more work.  She's not happy with Eleazar or Chato either.  Lupita greets El, pissing off Chato, and says sure, Chato's her dad, but she likes Eleazar more.  Burn!

Natalia finally tells Diego about being adopted, and how her mom found her in the Nativity scene at Padre Juancho's church.  Diego wants to explain his "situation" to Carmen, but Natalia says she'd rather take care of it herself.

Alonso's hanging out at the Coffee Shop Company, working.  He offers Karina a ride home and she probably reads more into that than he intended

Hilda finishes wrapping up the mummy…I mean, Diana…who is now able to button up her pants again.

Lupita makes a date with Eleazar and she and her brothers joke with him about what happened one time when they went horseback riding.  Chato looks on sadly and realizes what he missed.  As Chato's leaving, Brigitte the Brat is coming in and she's more than happy to hint that Natalia's out with Diego.

Karina talks to Alonso about her job at the Coffee Shop Company on the drive home and awkwardly suggests they go out to the movies together…uh, just so he can get out of his routine.

Eleazar catches Carmen alone in the kitchen to ask her what's going on with Natalia.  Eleazar says he knows that Natalia and Diego like each other, but there's a long way from "liking" to "being involved."  He tells her Diego's a nice guy and not trying to take advantage or anything.

Drunk!Diana calls Karina to ask her to come out and party with her.  She hangs up on her when Karina tells her she shouldn't be drinking, but not before she told Karina what bar she's at.  Alonso calls Diego and they agree to meet at the bar.  Natalia says she'll get a taxi home.

Drunk!Diana gets hit on by some guy who orders a bottle of champagne.  She keeps getting drunker and then has a bout of non-morning sickness that sends her running.

Alberto visits the fonda to try to make up to Brigitte, who's still pissed that he RIGHTLY called her a gossip.  He finally leaves it in her hands, saying he can't do more than apologize, which he already did, so unless she's willing to drop it….  Brigitte agrees and goes back inside to tell Carmen that she's leaving with Alberto.

Karina shows up at the bar with Diego and Alonso and calls Diana when they can't find her.  Diana, from the bathroom, drunkenly brags about the hot guy hitting on her.

Chato wonders if Eleazar is in luuuuuurve with Carmen and can't get past the whole "they're like brother and sister" thing.  "Like," dude.  That's not the same as actually being siblings.

Natalia comes home with her sad face on, but she doesn't want to talk to Carmen about why.

Diego busts Diana flirting with the guy. He tells the guy she's his wife and she gloats for a bit, but then screams at Karina for ratting her out.  Diego lectures Diana about drinking while she's pregnant, but she's all pouty because no one cares about her!  She refuses to take responsibility for "Diego's" baby.  Diego threatens her with jail if she harms the baby.  Diana says she's tired of being treated like an incubator.  And if she actually cared about the baby instead of seeing it as a giant dollar sign that's going to ruin her figure, I might care.

Chato goes to pump Luz for information.  She tells him about Eleazar's girlfriend and then lectures Chato for being irresponsible.  He doesn't know Lupita's birth date, her best friend's name, what her favorite activity is…all things that Eleazar knows, because he's been around.  But Luz cracks up laughing that Chato even thought that Eleazar would be interested in Carmen as a woman!

Bratty Brigitte with her grumpy face is upset that Alberto took her to the movies instead of to a pricey dinner.  She doesn't want to go on "normal" dates.  Well, too bad…Alberto is a "normal" kind of guy.  So if she wants to be a normal couple going on normal dates and she can give up her dreams of a prince on a white horse, then she can have him.  Brigitte slurps his face in agreement.  Let's see how long that lasts.

Alonso drops Karina off at her place, where a peck on the cheek goodnight convinces her she's scored points with him.

Drunk!Diana gets hauled into the house by Diego and insults Irene.  She tries to get Diego to spend the night in her room, but he extricates himself.  Lala brings in a cup on strong coffe, but Diana refuses to have Lala attend her.  She demands that Lala send Hilda in.

Chato wonders if he can make up for the past.  Luz says what Carmen needs is a man who commits.  "Um…marriage?"  Chato can't get out of Luz's fast enough, taking the rest of his pan dulce with him.  That epitomizes Chato.

Down in the study, Diego tells Irene what's going on.  And that it's his baby.  Unfortunately, since she's 10 weeks along, he says that's well within the range of time he was still sleeping with her.  Irene gets a little jealous when she hears that he heard about Diana being at the bar from Alonso, who heard about it from Karina.

Diana makes a big stink about Lala not wanting to leave the room.  She whines so loud Vicente comes over to see what's going on.

Alonso thinks Diego is going to have to do what it takes to keep Diana contented, for the sake of his child.  Lala comes in to tell Diego that Vicente is asking for him.  After he leaves, Irene asks Alonso if he's dating Karina.  "No, but what's it to you?"  Come on, Irene, wake up and smell the hottie!

Brigitte comes home and tells Carmen that she's dating Alberto.  She sneers at her mother for wanting the formality of Alberto coming home with her so they could announce it to her together.  "Puh-leeze.  This, coming from you?  I don't even know if it's serious yet."

Chato is so freaked out at the idea of marrying Carmen that he sees himself marrying her on the TV at the bar.  He makes eyes at a woman who comes up to order a drink.

Vicente thinks Diego needs to keep a closer eye on Diana.  He's annoyed that Diego was out with Natalia and still thinks she's only after his money, but he finally agrees that if Diego wants to be with Natalia, so be it…be he can't ignore Diana if he wants his child to be born healthy.  Or at all, at the rate Diana's going.

Natalia prays for Diego and asks La Virgen to watch over his child.  Diego calls to tell her what happened at the bar.  They agree to go out for breakfast tomorrow.  Gosh, Nat…put your phone on silent or vibrate!

Alberto calls Diego to see how he's doing.  Diego tells him about Diana's drunken follies.  For now, Alberto says they can't do anything, but once the baby's born, all bets are off.  Alberto's all happy to announce he's going out with Brigitte.  Because somehow he's failed to actually get to know her.

Andres picks up Chato, who is still having trouble getting little Chato to perform.  He says he's tried everything, but nothing works.  The only time he feels like his old self is when he thinks about Carmen.  But if marrying her is the only way he can get his rocks off, he'd rather be celibate.

Eleazar has breakfast at Luz's.  She can't stop laughing, thinking about how Chato thinks Eleazar is in love with Carmen.

Tomorrow: Diana comes over to Natalia's house to cause a scene; Diana pulls a gun on Diego.

Comments:
Irene's 16 episodes sober and Diana still wants to make bad jokes about Irene's drinking while she herself is drunk. Classy.

Thanks so much for your recap Kat. I loved your comments about Lupita, "Burn," Chato, still a jerk who does not want commitment just sex, and Diana's ridiculous complaints as well as her classy behavior.

Sara, I forgot to tell you I'm hating Diana too especially after this episode. I don't remember ever happing a person fell down some stairs more than her. I dread a poor child being born to that.

And Nat and Diego really need to take it down a thousand. The way they kiss we know they'll be in bed soon and before the divorce is final.

Karina is totally misreading things. Irene is acting a bit loca for someone who turned down the hottie, and I wish Luz would stop laughing at her son being in love with Carmen.

Thanks, Kat! I liked the "Burn" and "Wake up and smell the bottle" lines.

In Tuesday's episode a drunk El made the ol' "nail with another nail" comment to Al. I wonder if we might have a Karina and Al pairing for a bit.

Alberto, Alberto. You are blind my dear.

I wish everyone would stop being blind to how El and Carmen feel about each other.

And Chato needs to go. NOW.

Come on, Irene, wake up and smell the hottie!

Love it, and she certainly did look pensive after Al left the room with a snappy, "No, I'm not dating her but even if I were...so what."

I know Natalia and Diego are the main couple, but all I want to see are Eleazar and Carmen. Those two really fascinate me. Just about cheered when Lupita cheerfully told Chato she liked Eleazar better. No malice. Just the heartfelt truth. You go girl!

Thanks for getting this line going and running it single-handedly for so long, so the rest of us latecomers would finally "wake up and smell the coffee" as well. This one, so far, is really cute. Hope they don't ruin it.

Thanks so much, Kat. I also enjoyed the hottie line. :)

Is it wrong that I was a bit jealous of little Lupita getting to hug and kiss Marcelo? Lucky kid.

Diana's kid, however, is very unlucky. How will s/he survive? This advice to Diego to keep her calm is lame. Since when is Diana a reasonable person? She will act out as much, and as long as she wants.

And if Alberto can't see that he's jumping headlong into a relationship with a mini Diana (aka Brigitte the Brat), then...

JudyB- I find myself more interested in the El/Carmen and Al/Irene pairings as well.

We are VERY LUCKY that Kat has taken this on and I know I am very grateful. I'd been wanting to watch this one for months and now that it's here I'm ever more excited that there is a place to talk about it. ALL HAIL KAT!

Do I remember correctly that Jarocha said that this was kind of a surprise/sleeper hit in Mexico?

I was very happy the El came to Diego's and Nat's defence with Carmen, clarifying the Diego is a good guy with good intentions, his wife is a shrew, Nat is not the reason for their divorce, and Carmen needs to trust Nat. Carmen is getting upset that Nat is hiding things from her, but it's Carmen's attitude that's put up the wall between them.

ITA, Diego and Nat need to cool it with those hot besos, and in public no less! I guess they figure Diana has given up on the private eye following them.

Not sure why my tablet likes to change that to the.

thank you Kat. Excellent as always! I so enjoy your humor and wry comments.

"But what if it's bad for the baby?" Hilda asks. As if Diana would care about that", ""Like," dude. That's not the same as actually being siblings", "Come on, Irene, wake up and smell the hottie!" were among my favs.

Like Karen, I am also perplexed and aggrivated by Luz" "She can't stop laughing, thinking about how Chato thinks Eleazar is in love with Carmen". Really? And exactly why is that so hard to believe!

Alonso is never going to be interested in Karina even if Irene were not in the picture. Karina is totally delusional.

Kat, also loathed Diana's incessant, tasteless "jokes" about Irene's drinking while she herself imbibes beyond the limit. Ack.

Agree with Judy that I want more Carmen and El. Pronto! And Lupita is such an angel.

Vivi, from the tone of this show, let's hope Diana's baby is born safe and sound and ends up being loved and cared by Diego and Nat.

Thanks again Kat!

Diana

Diego needs to suck it up and keep Diana content until the baby is born. Then, file for sole custody. He has the proof of her drinking & partying while pregnant and the proof of her cheating, plus he's a Caceres so stripping Diana of custody shouldn't be a problem.

That means leaving Natalia alone for the next 7 months or so.

I'm not sure why Alberto is so hot for Brigitte. She's nasty, rude, foul and just not a nice person.

I think Irene probably sees straight through Brigitte but humors her for Nat's sake.

Of course, stripping custody from Diana is a moot point because I can't see Diego Jr. ever being born, the way Diana is drinking and binding and not taking care of herself.

Gracias, Karen, Sara, JudyB, Vivi, Diana, and Anon207! I totally stole the "hottie" line from an early season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but good grief, does it fit with a lot of these couples! The only one actually hooking up is Alberto and the poor guy's stuck with Brigitte the Brat!

I think I'm getting to the point where I'm tuning out Diego and Natalia. It's hard for me to enjoy their lovey-ness when I know things are going to get ugly. They have too much unfinished business to deal with. And underneath it all, I know they don't actually trust each other or there wouldn't still be secrets between them.

Is there really any way to keep Diana contented? Maybe agreeing to a fat divorce settlement and an allowance beforehand. But unless the money is tied to her actually taking care of herself/the baby it still won't have the intended effect. I don't think there's any way for Diana's baby to reach full-term safely except for Diana to not be the one carrying it!

There may not be a way to keep her happy beyond coming back to her, but Diego doesn't need to antagonize Diana by hanging out with Natalia or mentioning the word "divorce".

It's also good that Natalia is now working for Irene.

Thanks, 5ft for recapping so faithfully for us. I know that it is a big job that takes commitment and effort.

I am joining the line of people who are mainly interested in El and Carmen and Irene and Al.

Diana is hard to watch. She is such a spoiled diva. I cannot believe that she is drinking. She has no motherly instincts to protect that baby she is carrying. And so it is in real life sometimes. I hope that nothing happens to that innocent baby.

Fantastic as always 5ft.

I'm looking forward to Esmerelda Pimental playing the good girl in the next TN, she is a very pretty girl.
The TN is El color de la pasión with Erick Elias, which follows this.

Do we really think that if Diego stops talking divorce, and stops canoodling with Nat, that Diana is going to become a model mama-to-be, drop the shrew act, and stop plotting to keep Diego in her clutches and making Nat's life miserable? I really don't think so. Diego is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Gracias, Susanlynn and Variopinta!
