Lo Que La Vida Me Robo #103: 4/4/14: As She Lay Dying...................
Ahoy Amiguis! Those of us left on the Patio are shaking our heads and wondering que the hell is goin' on here. We seem to be stuck in a never ending wave of sadness, but have faith. There is a new disturbance in the force, going by the name of Sandho, but, but we still have El Capitan and now Dimi, so never fear the Underdogs are still here! Angie is slowly going into that long goodnight, but is still trying her best to fix things before she departs. Let me start with an earworm shall I? I really love this song and it so fits everything that JL and Angie have been through. So relax and listen as you read this recap. I have a couple more inserted into the recap, so please take a listen to them too. Long Live . Shall we begin?
Ale gets the news from Vic that Lic Cervera has gone to that big law office in the sky! Seems there was fire at his office and well, everything burned including the poor Lic. Ale is thrown for a loop.
Monse goes to visit Angie and runs into JL of course. Angie is still asleep and JL doesn't like to disturb her. Of course Monse has to rub salt into poor JL's wounds, that he is horrid, all that trumped up crap he did to Ale and oh, Angie doesn't know about you being drummed out of the Navy does she? Yeah, and she doesn't have to says JL. JL thinks maybe Monse is using Angie as an excuse to see him, oh, yeah, that's the ticket! She gets miffed by this and goes off.
Ale asks what started this fire? They don't know at present but the cops are investigating. We all know how that will turn out! All the files were burned, so of course Ale goes to the safe, pulls those wills out and of course doesn't read them, more's the pity! Ale does say that Cervera didn't trust Sandho or Fablush. Rosy kind of defends Fablush here and says, hey she is a blood relative, and Vic suggests making her an offer. She is as you used to be, no lana.
Next visitor to JL's and Angie's place is Fablush wanting a chat. She's kinda sorry that JL has been drummed out of the Navy and going to jail. Oh, how did she hear that? Well, peeps talk ya know. JL proclaims he is not innocent, but guilty of the crime. Fablush tells him it was she that took that money to the beach, ya know the lana that was burned. And no worries she won't be spilling the frijoles to Angie about JL.
JL goes to a sleeping Angie and wakens her gently. He tells her that Fablush is there, and she wants to see her. She also asks after Monse, she wants to see her when she comes by. Since Angie is in pain, JL is going to call the Doc.
The Padre, bless his heart, has gone to see Capitan Robledo. The Padre thinks he's in deep, dark, doody with the Capitan. No, he isn't, The Capitan wants to know about that letter that Joaquin wrote. Padre swears he didn't read it but does know, from Ale that Joaquin's familia was in grave danger. He swore to Ale he wouldn't read it, and swore to give that letter to JL as Ale requested, when it was stolen by BM. The Padre says he knows BM was staying with Fofito. The Capitan also tells the Padre he is aware that Peddy is a bad dude, full of douchbaggery and more, and please, with a cherry on top, no not that, but don't mention to Peddy that the Padre has spoken to El Capitan. The Padre is a man of his word and won't say a word. His face just will, well you know.
Fablush and Angie take a trip down memory lane so to speak. Angie talks about an escapade they had, where Amelia grounded Angie for three months. Angie coughs and Fablush gets her water. They talk about when Angie was first diagnosed with this disease, the treatments and that the only one that would listen to her was Fablush. Angie says love has kept her going all this time and she loves Fablush too. Angie has noticed how Fablush is drinking in JL, er, looking at JL, so what's the deal, is Fablush into JL or what? Fablush tells her not to speak this way and that JL is Angie's hubby. Angie wants Fablush to keep JL company after she goes to the great beyond.
Fina is outside when Fofito comes to call. She wants him to go, just please go, don't cause her problems. Fofito is so worried about her. He brings her a rose and admits he is the one that has brought that rose daily.
Angie explains that JL needs a woman like Fablush. Fablush thought he was all into Monse. Well, Angie has news for her, Monse is into Ale, she needs Ale's control, machoness, he maness. JL is a romantic, Monse isn't into JL anymore. Fablush has made mistakes and she's been alone, but she won't forget what Angie said and promises to "look after" JL once Angie is a bright star in the sky.
Fofito asks Fina if she will accept this rose from him. She won't and asks him not to give her any more. He asks if she has forgotten, and with his naked eye, recalls that first kiss with Fina at the beach, and he remarks that kiss has stayed with him. Fofito claims that Dimi doesn't love her, but Fofito does. Well, Fina isn't taking that from him and says you men are all alike. You can't love a women like me, as in feo, I hate that word, Spanish or English! So Fofito swoops in and kisses Fina as she struggles muchly and that black hearted Graceless snaps a photo! Fina stomps off and Fofito grins his smarmy grin.
Meanwhile Dimi is at his Papa Lauro's grave come to commune with him. With his naked eye he remembers that convo he had with his heartless Mama about Lauro and how he was the main man in her life and his life was taken by that mediocre Ale.
Monse goes back home and Ale wants to know where she's been? She went to see Angie so there. Ale goes into the spiel, don't go over there, dont' want you to meet up with JL, yadda, yadda, I got an earworm for the both of you, Let It Go! Apologies in advance to SusanLynn who must be sick of the song by now ; )
Padre goes to see Ale, but who should be waiting you ask? That would be EZ come to escort Padre to Peddy, of course.
Doc has come to visit with Angie. Refugio and Esme are there and are very sad, as is the rest of the house. How much time does Angie have, Esme wants to know? The Doc wouldn't really say, but left scripts for the pain. Esme will get on the horn (the phone) to Amelia to come over and she can call Tia Pru. JL goes in to be with Angie.
Ugh, it's Peddy and his pipe, he must love the smell of sulpher in the morning, anyhoo, The Padre comes in. Peddy talks about Joaquin and how he took his own life. Padre knows about the destroyed letter. Ale was the only one that read that letter, cause the Padre sure didn't. So now Peddy wants him to talk to this guy he knows, one Sandho who comes right on in.
They start to grill the poor Padre about that will that Don Benny had done on his deathbed. All that is missing in that office is the bright white spotlight they point in a suspect's face. Padre commences with the story that Don Benny on his death bed repented of his actions and made Ale is sole heir and recognized him as his son. He informs them with rising agitation in his voice that Don Benny was not a nice guy and treated his employees with cruelty, very badly and as a matter of fact Rosy was one such one. Peddy asks about the 30 years in prison Rosy did for killing her fiance. Padre tells him Rosy killed no one. How does Padre know that Don Benny was Ale's Papa, couldn't it have been the fiance of Rosy that was the father? Could she have been after Don Benny's lana? We'll get back to them in a tic.
Angie wants to know what the Doc said. Doc says she is fatigued and to stay in the bed. Angie knows she is going, slowly but surely, and she's sorry about that. Don't worry about her she says, they had wonderful times together. He kisses her and she's on to her mission of wanting to see Monse, she can't go until she talks to her.
Dimi goes to see Fofito. He asks if he has been to see Fina, cause Fofito brings up that kiss of Ginny's and Dimi believes that Foftio set him up. He warns Fofito to stay away from him and Fina. Fofito reminds Dimi of the scam to get Fina's lana that they had and how Dimi helped him get that lana from Ale. Look what's happened to Fina now, her bro cut her off because of Dimi. On the other hand, Fofito can make her happy and ensure she gets her lana back. Dimi doesn't want Fina's lana, he is making his own way, and threatens Fofito if he goes near Fina again, he will kill him. After Dimi goes Fofito calls Dimi an imbecile!
JL, Refugio and Esme are waiting and Esme wants to get some food for everyone, but noone is hungry. Amelia is there and she's called Tia Pru. They tell JL to get up off his duff, well not that, but go see Monse and tell her Angie wants to see her. He won't go.
Tia Pru arrives and speaks to JL. She wants to know how Angie is faring. Amelia is glad the Tia has arrived, and JL says Angie is strong emotionally, but she's only got days left. Tia goes in to see her. Angie is cuddled up with JL. Angie is glad she is there. She tells the Tia about that surprise wedding she and her Mama cooked up for Esme and Refugio and the Tia remembers them fondly. She also tells the Tia about buying La Escondida and that Esme is her partner and about that dance they did for their guys. Seasons in the Sun.
The poor Padre, bless his heart, is still being raked over the coals by Peddy and Sandho. Padre tells them that when Ale was born, Don Benny wouldn't recognize him. Later, when he was on his deathbed, he decided to recongize Ale as his son and had the Padre send for a notary and made the Padre promise to do this and to recognize that Don Benny confessed to this and was in his right mind when he decided to do this. So this is how Don Benny recongized Ale. The Padre also told of the birth of Ale in la carcel, cause Rosy was already in the prison. So the Padre tells them that Don Benny recognized Ale and signed the will, the Padre and Lic Cervera witnessed it. Peddy informs the Padre that sadly, Lic Cervera is now not among the land of the living, he went to that Law Office in the sky and now the Padre, bless his heart, is the only living witness. The Padre is the only one to know the truth. OMGee!
AVANCES:
Tia Lottie, with that hanger on of an EZ, informs Ale and Monse she is now engaged to said hanger on!
Fofito is tasked, by that avocadoless Peddy, to murder another person. Who will it be? Y'all can debate, but I'll give you two guesses and the first one doesn't count!

I know, I know, this epi was kind of a downer, but there is hope. I am going to miss Angie, unless there is a miracle cure the poor girl is dying for realz. Please enjoy the recap and if I missed something please let me know.
Anyway i met some girl, she also has that flower on her hair, did she inherit it from BM??she is also a bit clingy but i like her alot, horrible thing is im 17,shes just 14 guess one will have to wait and it feels like she is the love of my life sigh why does it has to be that difficult?
Ugh, why do we have to see Montserrat apologize to Ale for going to Angelica's? It's ridiculous and just awful to watch. If a female lead acted the way Alejandro does she would have gotten her controlling ass dumped long ago. Actually, she'd be the villana.
The thing about this villains is that the characters don't do anything. They just wait cm for bad things to happen to them. What exactly does Montserrat do with her days? It's bad enough that we're supposed to believe a young woman from a good family in this day and age has seemingly no post-secondary education.
Why does everyone in this novela act like having an actual job is unheard of?
This is why Angie will be missed. At least she actually does things.
I'm still not sure what Adolfo's deal is with Fina.
I wish they could leave us Angie and take Nadia instead!
My favorite lines:
Ugh, it's Peddy and his pipe, he must love the smell of sulpher in the morning
All that is missing in that office is the bright white spotlight they point in a suspect's face.
Angie has noticed how Fablush is drinking in JL, er, looking at JL, so what's the deal, is Fablush into JL or what? Fablush tells her not to speak this way and that JL is Angie's hubby. Angie wants Fablush to keep JL company after she goes to the great beyond.
I truly fear for the Padre; the last line of this episode spells out Pedro and Sandho's intent. The only thing that I can see preventing that from happening in Monday's episode is the obvious difficulty of trying to do this with Pedro's secretary just outside. My guess is that they're appointing Adolfo as hit man. This means they will have to do what they did with Maria and the Padre will have to hide in a monastery.
The Padre's big target on his back just got bigger. Why in the blazes do these people spill so much info?? Just boggling.
At least we got a Tia Pru sighting. Now can we keep this woman around a bit since she seems one of the few people out there with a brain? Angie now telling Fabs to cuddle with the hubby, well not in those words, but honestly we get it. Whatever. It's not unusual to try and tell the spouse to go on with their lives, etc. but she's basically working to make sure the dude gets some as soon as possible. That's what it feels like. Bothers me that she is so fixated on that.
But of course the result will be we have Fabs all over JL. Blech!
Good lord Ale. Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
As thing stand right now, and having to watch DimFIne being manipulated and broken apart, I'm getting worried for the back half of this TN. I love the performers in this, but the events are anything but stellar to want to be strung out for dozens of episodes.
Daisynjay
Loved the tone and the description of Pedro "with a cherry on top."
What a depressing episode! So much of the same old same old from all of our same old characters with no light in sight. The only funny thing is that Graciela is now hiding in the bushes. The only good moment was auntie Prudencia making an appearance. Quite a revelation that Fabiola and Angelica were as close as they were. I never liked Adolfo. Looks like I am going to like him less.
Jarifa
Since he's no longer in the Navy maybe he can use his investigation skills to become a private eye. Once he hears about the death of Cevera and the fire he should be able to see how this adds up.
Although I hated the Pedro/Padre/Sandro scene, I have to admit it was effectively staged. The darkness, the background music, Padre's increasing bewilderment and worry, the evil looks exchanged between Pedro and Sandro...like watching two hyenas stealthily close in on an old, weary animal.
If it weren't for the fine recapping team and commenters, I would bail on this one. But I consider the 9 pm group very special and will try to hang in there. Tough going, though.ra If Rulli thinks it's hard to "play Alejandro", he should know it's also hard to watch Alejandro and company.
But always love your song links, MADS. And your rollicking, irreverent style of storytelling. Muchas gracias.
So far, it's another gray day in the Zoloft capital of the world. And this telenovela ain't helpin'!
I guess he hasn't heard as many abusive "confessions" as Padre Guadalupe of AdP or Padre Tadeo of FELS, but he should certainly be aware of human evil.
OH noes...watching poor padre sitting in that den of vipers was awful. I fear for him. Groan.
Well, I hope everyone has a good weekend. Hub and I are heading out to breakfast with friends. Tonight, we go to a concert, and tomorrow morning we will be watching the Disney Princesses on Ice. That should uplift my spirits after watching these grim novelas all week....sigh.
"there is a new disturbance in the force, going by the name of Sandho" and "Fina stomps off and Fofito grins his smarmy grin" were among my many favorites. You conveyed all of the events but with a light, insightful tone that was greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the songs - I didn't realize Taylor Swift was such a lovely young woman. Her voice is beautiful.
Anon, I do believe Demetrio does love Fina. It's a shame he has chosen to consort with Graciela though, but in any event, his quest is without hope as Fina loves no one but Dimitrio.
Jarifa, I was also surprised that Angelica and Fab were close! That certainly hasn't deterred Fab from coveting JL behind her hooded eyes, which certainly has been duly noted by Angelica. The good news is I think JL has a good inkling as to Fab's true character and has no interest in her at all (take heart Demetrios).
And the scene with Pedro, Sandho and the padre was very upsetting. Judy your description of "...like watching two hyenas stealthily close in on an old, weary animal" was perfect.
I was delighted to see Pru. For a moment. And then reality sunk in, she is here because Angelica will die. And the realization hits that we have not yet hit rock bottom.
Susanlynn, it sounds as though you have wonderful plans today - enjoy!
This may be naïve, but I don't believe Adolfo will kill the padre. That would be too much to bear.
Madelaine, thank you!
Diana
So why does (70's porno mustache) Pedro seek to bring down Ale again? At first it was all about he wanted to buy and use that secluded land. Then when he finally got access, he just used it to set Joaquin and Ale up and blew whatever opportunity he might have had for using it for illegal profit. So what's the deal now - just evil small town mayors being bad? There doesn't seem to be any point to the exhaustive villainy.
Not unusual though - TN extensions based on villains run amok and suffering innocent idiots, and not much else.
The Padre is a man of his word and won't say a word. His face just will, well you know.
Ay, Angie's decline is so sad, so hard to watch. But my favorite moment was Angie comparing Ale and JL. She said JL is a romantic, a dreamer, who lets a woman be free and do crazy things. Ale is a macho, possessive, a controller and Monse loves that in Ale. She said even if Ale didn't exist, JL and Monse wouldn't have lasted long. Her delight and feistyness about JL - even in her weak state - was a joy to watch. I can understand Angie's worry about JL. She got him to love her in these months and promise to bury her ashes at sea, and now she's leaving him high and dry (though with a bundle of dough) and maybe feels guilty, even though of course she can't help it. After all Angie said to Fab, I can't wait to see what she says to Monse if she gets the chance.
I just wanted the Padre to stand up and tell Pedro and Sandro that Ale's daddy and inheritance is none of their damn business. It has nothing to do with the criminal charges against Ale. I sure hope he tells Ale about the meeting.
I like that Dim will have to fight Adolfo for Fina. I'm guessing he's too smart to put stock in Graciela's photo.
Agree Adolfo won't kill anybody. Could they possibly hide the Padre at La Escondida too? This TN could use some laughs.
For me, the most interesting scene was the conversation between Fabiola and Angélica. It does some tricky exposition, as if the writers are announcing Robo, Part Two:
-- It invites us to consider Miss Fedora in a new light. If Angie loves her so much, if she really was the only one who found the words to encourage her after her illness was diagnosed, can she really be the monster we have all taken her for?
--It reframes the Alejandro-Montse-José Luis triangle. Do we think Angie's perceptions are accurate? (Montse and Alejandro are a perfect fit for each other -- he needs to dominate and she needs to be dominated; JL is a dreamer and needs to be with a free spirit like himself.)
We have other hints that we may be seeing a rehabilitation of Fabiola: Rosario feels for her and Alejandro wants to be generous to her.
Now we know that Sandro is a monster. He has probably already outgrown his alliance with Fabiola and signed on with Mr. NoNuts. Will these two be the ones who ultimately take each other down? How much misery will they bring before that happens?
Those at Fofito's table might want to keep their paper bags handy.
I am going to be sick if they kill off Padre Anselmo (though Eric del Castillo probably needs a rest after an exhausting 100+ episodes, many filmed in the heat and humidity of Campeche.)
JudyB, I have to agree with Diana. This is a lovely phrase:
"The darkness, the background music, Padre's increasing bewilderment and worry, the evil looks exchanged between Pedro and Sandro...like watching two hyenas stealthily close in on an old, weary animal."
Urban:
"Since [JL is] no longer in the Navy maybe he can use his investigation skills to become a private eye."
Brilliant idea! Let's hope the writers are as clever as you are!
Diana:
"I was delighted to see Pru. For a moment. And then reality sunk in, she is here because Angelica will die."
Yes. Beautifully expressed. You made me realize I felt that too without even realizing it.
I also hope that Adolfo will be unable to kill Padre Anselmo. But let's not forget: María may be alive and scrubbing, but it's no thanks to Adolfo. He showed us -- and himself -- who he really is when he pulled that trigger.
I fervently hope that the writers bring their A-game to the new story they seem to be launching. Yes, we are heading in a new direction, but MUST IT BE DRECK from now until episode #190?
Loved, "Ugh, it's Peddy and his pipe, he must love the smell of sulpher in the morning."
NM: I don't know if it was just the English CC's, but my take on Angie's and Fabu's convo was more on line with your comment, Angie didn't say that because Ale was macho that is why Monse loves him more than JL, it was more like that Monse and JL were not suited to each other, (Although Monse didn't really know it) and that JL was quiet and a "dreamer". Monse is strong willed and needed a macho man to control her.-Again with the double standard-like Anonymous at 2:21 said.
And ITA, about the other exchange: Angie reminded Fabu of what Fabu said when Angie was diagnosed, that it didn't matter if you lived a long life or a short life the important thing was to make the most of the time. Actually good advice, Fabu must have been different then.
JL said to Ale he was going to try to get closer to Fabu to "investigate" the situation.
Ale's style of "managing" would have him picking his teeth off the floor if he tried that on a stronger-willed woman, but Angie hasn't really seen that side of him. And Angie hasn't seen the other side of JL either. I'm not sure I would categorize him as dreamer. Someone who can't let go or hangs on to the past, yeah maybe that.
NM--I like your take on Fabs. You may have a valid point there. Maybe our "dreamer" could be brought back to reality and move forward with a more earthy, street-smart woman who's been to the top and down again? Fina can redeem Dimi, maybe JL can redeem Fabs.
Daisynjay
Speaking of mood, I've noticed that some of us here on the Patio are becoming restless if not disgruntled. Well, certainly with good reason. I think that it's safe to say that well have another death soon. the question is who? Will it be Angie or Padre Anselmo?
For a dying swan, like in the ballet, Angie is taking her sweet time. I think she'll be with us at least until she has the opportunity to get whatever it is that she wants to say to Montse off her chest. Maybe JL knows what he is doing by trying to keep the two apart.
For me, Padre Anselmo seems more essential to the basic plots, however, I'm sure that Pedro has a terminal plan for him and the avances make it look like the role of exterminator will fall to Adolfo. So has the padre's luck run out? I sure hope not. I am willing to sacrifice Macario, however.
I think it's possible that with Angie gone, Esme may look to María for some friendship and sisterly bonding.
So, who will be the first to learn of Nadia's pregnancy, Victor or Pedro?
Carlos
Such a fun recap complete with classic Madelaine music choices. Thank you very much, Miss Madelaine!
Yep, you are right, this was another downer capitulo. I think Carlos has the right of it when he describes the denizens of the Patio as restless and perhaps disgruntled.
Still, I am going to come by to stay up with my friends, even if I have to squeeze my eyes shut at all the evil on-screen behavior.
Urban, I am with you in fearing for Padre Anselmo's safety. I will not be able to stand it if Pedo or Sandro off the good Father. I guess it would have to be Sandro, wouldn't it? Pedro always keeps his hands clean, more's teh pity.
Audrey: I am delighted to see you here. I, too, cannot see any point to Pedro's vendetta against Alejandro. It just doesn't ring right with me. I totally agree with you regarding extension madness. As a recapper, I am just grateful our friends stop by and say hi in these dark and dreary days.
Urban: I sure hope you don't catch Angie's last day on earth. I do not think they can stretch this out much longer now that Tia Pru has shown back up. I am dreading the show where she dies.
And, I certainly want JL to end up with someone better than Fabulush. Geez.
Thanks again Mads, for the recap. At least your Patio friends are here to keep you company.

As to Adolfo pulling the trigger in the faked killing of Maria, we didn't actually see him do it. I am guessing that there will be a flashback somewhere in the future showing Basurto shoving his arm aside. There is no other way he could have missed.
Basurto gets off scaring the living daylights out of people, which is how he controls them. I can't wait for him (or Sandrho) to find out Pedro's ugly secret.
As for Pedro's vendetta against Alejandro, I think that has a simple explanation: Alejandro has important things that Pedro doesn't. He has hombria, a name that equals money and property, and the inheritance, the latter two of which he never expected. Without those things he wouldn't have gotten Monserrat (although we can't accuse her of greed).
We haven't heard any real information about Pedro's background and he has never spoken of any blood relatives, so I'm guessing he came up from some lower rung of society or a family that fell into ruin in the previous generation. Probably has a lot of resentment because of it, too. All of which predates his nasty accident, which only served to make him nastier than he already was.
I sure hope we are both mistaken about Angie dying on Monday. I do not wish that dark capitulo on any of our recappers. Yikes!
I like your thought that Pedro's is a family that lost the money in the last generation.
It reminds me of the old English phrase 'shabby genteel'.
Folks from families like that can have a very hard time of it. They carry all of society's expectations about how upper class people should act and what they should do and have none of the cash to pull it off. The downwardly mobile often get into REAL financial trouble and debt. Not that any of this excuses Pedro's depravity, of course.
You are right. Pedro was a nasty piece of work from the very beginning.
Elna June
I'm pretty sure Adolfo DID pull the trigger. María survived because EZ had put a blank (bala de salva) in the gun. That's why María was so furious -- her 'boyfriend' had pointed the gun right at her head and pulled the trigger. He showed her and himself what he was capable of when his own life was at stake.
EZ could have staged the shooting without forcing Adolfo to this point. The set-up was astonishingly sadistic on EZ's part.
No he actually pulled the trigger while pointing the pistol at María and the gun went off. She asked him afterward if he had known there were blanks (I think she said bala salva but I'm not certain of that.) in the pistol. Her looked sad and guilty but don't remember if he even answered her. I was an Adolfo supporter until then, but I'm certain that he was willing to sacrifice her to save himself (unlike the earlier, almost admirable Adolfo).
Carlos
Carlos
"if he had been closer he could have... wait for it... PUT HER EYE OUT!"
It always does seem to go back to what our mothers always warned us about, doesn't it? :D
Now destroying Ale has become the goal and has taken on a life of it's own. Not reasonable, but maybe this is how a narcissistic sociopath reacts to being dissed in the TN writer's minds.
I find what Angie said about Monse and Ale very interesting. Certainly, there does seem to be something in Monse that doesn't push her to demand respect, and makes her prone to take a more submissive role. She traded her loving but authoritative father, and controlling and sadistic mother, for a husband who has all these characteristics. She's just repeating the pattern she grew up with. Rosario has taken Tia Carlotta's place as the person she goes to for maternal comfort.
EJ- I left an answer to your late question on your recap.
"Seems the easiest thing to do would be to kill Alejandro. What's Pedro waiting for?"
Yikes! The Patio People are even more restless than I realized.
Carlos
His party nominated a man with children, so he's looking to equal that image. That's what Nadia's pregnancy is all about. The inheritance scam is all about getting someone else to put Alejandro under the microscope as a possible grifter: He has no intention of allowing Fabiolush and Sandho to claim the Almonte inheritance. I believe his ultimate intention is to confiscate it "in the name of the state" and to embezzle as much as he can from it afterwards. Fabiolush and Sandho will then be expendable.
Urban: We'll see if the TN writers are as clever as you are. Your vision of it makes sense, you should be writing this story, as we have said many times before.
So what I'm beginning to wonder---he HATES Ale with a passion and used the lands where he resided ( at that time worked) to start his drug trade. Ale thinks he vaguely remembers him somehow if I recall--like they met before. Could there be a possible connection between what or who caused Pedo to go off the road and Ale? Maybe Pedo isn't his real name, it's his reinvented persona?
Daisynjay
I'm still inclined to think that he came from a family that once had money and position and lost it. He's blond and blue-eyed, which generally means in TNs that he's from pure European stock and therefore the ruling class in the TN world.
Of course, since Alejandro is also blonde, fair, and light-eyed they could be distantly related.
Remember that we know nada about Pedro's family background or even Benjamin Almonte's. I'm wondering if Benjamin caused the accident and drove off without a conscience and Pedro's drug scheme was originally directed at him. Alejandro is only 34 and therefore too young to have been responsible for that accident.
It seems that the writers have written this with enough leeway to make various decisions as the story progresses.
"It seems that the writers have written this with enough leeway to make various decisions as the story progresses."
Good point. It's fun to speculate about how our characters may have crossed paths before we met them, but we are just making up our own stories when we do so.
Daisynjay:
"Maybe Pedo isn't his real name, it's his reinvented persona?"
Now that might be an intriguing direction for the story to take.
Emarie:
"Angie reminded Fabu of what Fabu said when Angie was diagnosed, that it didn't matter if you lived a long life or a short life the important thing was to make the most of the time. Actually good advice, Fabu must have been different then."
Thanks for adding that important detail here. This is just the kind of peg the writers can use to hang a new story on, if they choose to do so.
I like your theory of Robo parte 2. Like you, I saw signs of Fabi rehab
in the works.
Angie loving her is a BIG plus in her favor.
When I consider the story possibilities for the next few months (arghh! I HATE extensions) it seems likely that Fabi would be redeemed. She is, after all, sister to Ale, Montse and Dimitrio.
As far as pairing Fabi with JL goes, I just do not see the actress having any chemistry with Guzman. As a plot point it makes sense; JL can become part of the one big happy family that Alejandro has always wanted.
And really, it is the 'All About Alejandro Show', isn't it?

"As far as pairing Fabi with JL goes, I just do not see the actress having any chemistry with Guzman."
I guess it would depend on how good these two are as actors. So far, Fabiola has played the predatory drunk to the hilt and JL has given the impression that he is onto her game. If he tolerates Fabi, it is only for Angie's sake. But if they are skillful enough, they might be able to persuade us of a change in how they feel about each other.
I'm not sure I'd like that though. I want to see JL go down in flames as a hero. It is, as you say, the "All About Alejandro" show.
Diana, I hope that you are feeling much better today.
Hope everyone has a good week ahead.
I'm very late to the weekend party and posting my comment only on Monday morning, but I just wanted to say thanks so much, as always, for a fabulous, wonderfully written, and funny recap. You are amazing!
Best,
Julia R
Not much to add other than WHY won't JL let Montse come to see Angelica. If he doesn't want to see her, all he has to do is go to the grocery store, go get gas, go to the dry cleaners...lordy, there are any number of things he could do that would take him out of the house.
I do fear for the Padre. The look on his face when he realizes he's the only witness to the will left said it all. If it happens, even a disappearance, with EZ running investigations, all these "convenient" deaths are not going to occur to anyone, especially not DimAle (sorry to appropriate Dimmy's former appellation, but he's not quite so Dim any more). Certainly not Montse, nor Rosie, nor Gracie, nor Carlota, Victor or anyone else in this roster of so-called good characters. My only hope lies in Macario and Dominga and they are tertiary characters.
I'm not looking forward to another death and somber funeral. The only thing that might perk me up is anticipating what Gracie will wear.
I'm getting my kicks on FELS, which is a laugh a minute without a sound track. I still can't tell if it was meant to be played as a straight dramatic telenovela or a slapstick comedy. You never know with Mejia.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. I also like all the theories y'all have put up!
Fablush is almost like two different people in a way. I too wonder as NovelaMaven said if she is going to be redeemed. There are certain people she seems to care about. Angie is one and I think maybe Ale might be the other. I know she wants his lana, but she saved him from SB. It will be interesting to see her develop more and see where the writers are heading with her story.
Now on to Peddy and Ale. Peddy and Don Benny were very great friends and did bidness together. This was mentioned in the beginning of this TN. He could have been into the drug trafficking with Peddy, but that was never mentioned, but Peddy told Ale, when he first wanted that land, that Don Benny was going to let him use it. Ale wasn't budging though so Peddy tried having him killed. First Juvie tried and that failed, then Loretto tried and JL ended up killing him. Still no land. Then when Ale shot JL, and Ale was sitting in jail, is when Peddy made a deal with him for the land and Joaquin would over see it. Peddy really never thought that El Capitan would find out what was going on. Stupid Peddy! Every evil thing he has tried to do has backfired on him. Now El Capitan is on to him, everyone in town has heard the chisme he is dirty. He thinks he'll be able to be governor but I doubt he gets anywhere near that. It is true that he was dropped by his party because he had no children, and that is what Nadia's pregnancy is for. I think Peddy hates Ale so much because he wouldn't go along with Peddy's plans. Peddy thinks he is the dictator of his little world, but little does he know how many people know just what he is. He's still clueless. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he finally meets his anvil.
I don't want to see Angie go either. It's too sad for words. But I have to say the writers are doing a good job here. The slow decline is more realistic, sad, but realistic.
Thanks again y'all for hanging out on the Patio during this very sad storyline. There is hope though. It can't continue to be all sturm und drang foreva.
Oh, and NovelaMaven, squee, love your avatar and Carlos, love your new avatar also. Comet, how apropos for BM, si?
You are so very right! She has said some horrid things. I think she might draw the line at murder. I want to see how she reacts when she finds out about poor Lic Cervera. She has got a lot of Don Benny and Graceless in her that's for sure.
Anita:
Yes! Exactly! I can't stand Sandho and he's like a cobra isn't he? He strikes when you least expect it! I hope his anvil is extra large.
I don't want to see Fabiolush redeemed. She has no conscience about impoverishing Alejandro and his family and who knows what she's done to others before this. Whatever that is I hope JL can find the information.
"WHY won't JL let Montse come to see Angelica. If he doesn't want to see her, all he has to do is go to the grocery store, go get gas, go to the dry cleaners...lordy, there are any number of things he could do that would take him out of the house."
Montse is probably the only person who still believes that JL sabotaged Alejandro. (We know that isn't so: he has once again made a NOBLE gesture of SELF-SACRIFICE -- he has taken full responsibility for burning the drug money that Barajas left at the Almonte house so Alejandro can go free and make Montserrat happy.)
Angélica thinks that Montse should know that JL is behaving nobly. She doesn't want Montse to continue to blame JL for something he hasn't done.
JL would like to keep Montse resenting him because it forms a barrier between them. He is afraid that if her resentment turns to gratitude, it will be harder to keep his distance from her.
So JL wants to keep Angélica from telling Montserrat the truth about his role in HELPING rather than HARMING Alejandro.
There seems to be something else on Angélica's mind that she wants to tell Montse before she dies. We can only speculate about what that is. Before Angie's conversation with Fab, she seemed to be 'bequeathing' JL to Montserrat. That no longer seems to be the case. Maybe she just wants to say "JL is a fine person, but it's time to recognize that there can never be anything but friendship between the two of you."

Oh yes, that phrase about Angie having "una fecha de caducidad tatuada en la frente" is so shockingly callous that it is going to be uphill work to convince us that there is a kinder, gentler Fabiola under that fedora. And yet I can't help thinking that the writers are setting us up for this reframing.
"Does she draw the line at murder?"
Great question. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I'm another one on the verge of dropping out, except for the high-class entertainment afforded by recaps and comments. My conflicted feelings for Sergio Sendel/Pedro No-nuts are part of the puzzle.
In past times, we've noted women getting new hairdos, etc., to indicate a change. Dimi and Fofito also have new hair styles. I love Fofo's pretty eyes and endless lashes, even when he's a bad boy.
Another point of boredom--Rosario's new country club hairdo and wardrobe. Happy for her to gain her rightful place, but we don't see that much of her now. Maybe her role is more limited with all the evil ones in the ascendant.
Extremely late to the party. Thank you for the recap. A great and fantastic read as always. I had a busy weekend with work, a family birthday celebration and my laptop not working! Boo! It's still acting funny. Oh, well, enough of me.
Hate that Angie is dying. Hate that she wants Faby for JL. WTH!
Love that Dimi loves Fina and wants to fight for her. I guess Dimi and Fofito are frenemies now? I also liked Angie's explanation to Faby about what would have become of JL and Montse had they actually stayed together. I think Angie is right. Montse loves the attention Ale gives her when he gets jealous. Montse likes knowing that she is loved to the point of madness.
I'm all outta time folks, but I had to chime in and say thanks Mads!
Back to house cleaning...hasta pronto!
Many belated thank yous to our incredible recappers. I am amazed at your incredible writing talent. It's what makes this program bearable.
Nanette, I am SO sad to see that you won't be doing the lists anymore. I know it was tons of work, but please know that I always read them and always appreciated your work.
