Caray, Caray!

Monday's episode was a combination of episodes 116 and 117 in Mexico. At this rate we should be caught up with and in sync with Mexico next Monday. I hope. As always, deleted scenes are in italics.

Leftovers:
Tita comforts Mari after the wedding incident that Mari herself caused. I don't get this. Mari attacked Ileana, Ileana was publicly humiliated, Dan was kicked out of the party and everyone sympathizes with Mari. Seems to me Mari's the one who acted like an idiot. Yes I know Mari's heart is broken, but that doesn't mean she should act like a 5-year old and everyone should feel sorry for her.


New Stuff:
Andrea and Mauricio worry about the contract for the sale of their apartment. Mauricio can't reach the woman who agreed to buy it. Even though there is no need to sell now, both of them feel they have to honor the contract.

Methuselah hides out. Can you spot him?

Methuselah, who is now hiding out in Chicago, talks to a woman on the phone. She's been trying to avoid talking to Mauricio. What should she tell him? Meth instructs her to make up some excuse as to why she can't buy the apartment and tell him to keep the down payment as a penalty for breaking the contract. Then simply disappear.

Mauricio gets a call from the buyer who backs out of the deal. He hangs up the phone and tells Andrea that the woman was having family troubles and said they can keep the down payment. Andrea is excited because now they can buy Meanie's apartment in the tenement. It will be a good investment and will bring in some extra income.

Back at the wedding, Sonia tells Arturo and Isabel that Daniel's behavior is typical of her brother. Isabel is surprised, "Your brother?" Fabricio explains Sonia's relationship to Dan. (I find this really weird. Arturo has known Sonia for over 20 years - she is the one who introduced him to Eugenia - and he wasn't aware she had a stepbrother? How does he know that Sonia was Eugenia's "cousin"? I'll bet she's not even related to Eugenia.) Sonia goes on about how Dan has always been a problem for their father.

Dan sits outside Osvi's house. Borlas comes out and they get into an argument about Mari and Ileana. Dan is angry that Borlas ratted him out to Mari. Borlas retorts that he was just trying to keep Mari from getting hurt. He thinks that Dan was trying to string Mari along until he landed Ileana, and then he'd dump Mari. Borlas calls Dan a coward and tells him he can't stay at the apartment anymore, "Get your stuff and get out."

The four attractive young adults and the creepy old bald guy talk about Dan and Mari. Ileana says she's never been in such an awkward situation before. She's thoroughly humiliated. Ileana gets up and leaves. Ara and Javier follow her. Dafne thinks Ileana is suffering the consequences of being a boyfriend stealer. Esteban tells Dafne she is hardly the one to judge Ileana. You go Este!

Borlas tries to console Mari and her broken heart. Mari accuses him of knowing what was up and not telling her. Borlas reminds her that Dan was confused about his feelings and maybe was trying to have both girls. (Have your Candy and Edith too!) He tells Mari that she isn't to blame and besides, she's too beautiful for Dan anyway.

EVERYBODY DANCES!

Ozvi and Tita ride off on her motorcycle. Tita throws the stupid hat she's wearing on the driveway. I'm wondering if that was supposed to be the "tossing of the wedding bouquet"? If so, it's a big flop. Nobody rushes over to pick it up, let alone fight for it.

Art and Isa return home and talk honeymoons. They start having another wedding night of their own. We hear the theme song a cappella, lisps and all.

In the bedroom, Tita says she has a "surprise" for Ozvi. She goes into the other room.

Mari thinks back on Daniel's words at the wedding and starts crying (again). Zenaida comforts her. I cannot stand this girl's whining. Somebody please kick her in the arse and tell her to get over herself. Mari used to be so brave and upbeat, now she's Sister Sob Story. When they covered her belly they also threw a wet blanket over her personality.

Dan returns to the tenement. He can't stay with Borlas so Agatha offers to let him stay at her place. She'll talk to Mauricio and Andrea and ask if they would be willing to let him live at Meanie's old apartment. Agatha asks Dan what happened between him and Borlas.

At home, Sonia goes on trashing her brother's character to Fabricio. Fab looks on sympathetically.

Fabricio believed everything Sonia said and look where it got him.

Tita comes out and slides toward Osvi. He calls her a "goddess".

Borlas returns to the tenement and sees Dan at Agatha's. They argue again.

Next morning -
Tita and Ozvi wake up disappointed. Apparently Osvi has suffered from what we believe is a "failure to launch". In Tita's words this is "muy grave".

At the breakfast table Art, Isa and Aranza talk about Ileana and Dan. Isabel makes a comment about trying to have a relationship with someone when you're actually in love with someone else. After Ara leaves Art asks what the point of Isa's comment was.

On the phone, Javier talks to Gonzo and says he's getting a lawyer to help him. He then calls Dante.

Sonia bitches to Fab about Daniel yet again.

Mauricio and Andrea are at Agatha's to complete the purchase of Meanie's apartment. Agatha asks if Dan can live there. They are more than happy to let Dan have the apartment because without Dan, Angel might never have returned. The rent will be whatever Dan can afford to pay, whenever he can.

Dan knows it hasn't been easy for Ileana to lie to Mari, but now that the relationship between him and Mari is over, they can stop pretending and go back to being friends. Ileana says it will be difficult to be friends with Dan because she's been in love with him since the first time they met. Dan decides he'd really like a chance to get to know and to fall in love with Ileana. Ileana asks, "Who am I to question fate?" They kiss.

The engineer hired to investigate the building explosion arrives at Arturo's. His investigation revealed that some of the gas pipes were faulty and not properly installed which caused the explosion. Arturo says if the pipes were defective then the pipe company is responsible. The engineer disagrees, "You signed a release for the materials that said they met inspection. Your company is responsible. The owner is filing suit tomorrow."

Isabel comes in and tries to calm Arturo down. Aranza comes down the stairs (what is with those horrible red pants she's wearing?) She stops in the hall and listens in.

Dan walks Ileana out of the tenement and kisses her. He says he'll try to be the best boyfriend in the world. Borlas comes up and accuses Dan of being cynical. Ileana protests, but Borlas cuts her off. His problem isn't with her, it's with Dan who is a coward. Ileana says some kisses start out without a lot of feelings but the feeling grows. Borlas says they can justify it in their heads, but they both were playing around with Mari's feelings. Borlas walks away. Ileana says Borlas doesn't understand, but Dan thinks maybe Borlas is right.

Borlas arrives at Tita's to see Mari. Baltazar catches him helping himself to a snack. Borlas introduces himself and asks Baltazar why he is still wearing a suit. Baltazar tells Borlas that the suit is his work uniform because he's the major domo for Don Osvaldo.

The inspector leaves. Arturo can't understand how the report can blame the construction company. Bruno checked everything - installation, materials, everything! There's no way we can pay for a lawsuit. It will cost us millions.

Arturo goes to Bruno's and tells him that their engineer says the construction company is solely responsible for the building explosion.

End of episode 116

Bruno can't believe they are being blamed for the explosion. Arturo says it's not just the explosion, they'll have to pay for damages and for the owner's loss of income because he can't sell any apartments in the building. The lawsuit will cost them millions. They'll lose everything! Arturo might end up in jail if he can't pay. Bruno says he will ask Tita to help him out. Is Arturo going to ask for Ozvi's help? Arturo says no. He won't ask his father to pay his debts or risk putting him out on the street if they lose the suit. They both agree to keep quiet and not ask either Tita or Ozvi for help.

Aranza runs to Javier's and tells him everything. Her dad needs money or he could end up in jail! A sympathetic Javier hugs her and grins his evil grin.

Javier enjoys toying with Aranza.

Gabi arrives to ask Isabel to go shopping with her. She notices Isabel is upset. Isabel tells her about the investigation and the lawsuit. Gabi is shocked. Isabel says her first responsibility is to her marriage - to Arturo - and therefore she thinks they need to sell Casa Arte. Gabi understands that Isabel needs to look out for her marriage, but Casa Arte is the only thing Gabi has. Gabi has a responsibility to her unborn child.

Javier is really sorry (yeah, right.) but he can't help Arturo with his money problems. A lawsuit could cost millions and he doesn't have that much money. Aranza leaves.

Borlas walks with Mari in the park. She's whining (again).

Arturo, Bruno and Edgar meet at the construction company. Edgar has come up with a plan to try to help avoid a lawsuit. Perhaps Arturo and Bruno can try to arrange to pay off the debt over a period of years.

Oz tells Baltazar about his terrible wedding night. Meanwhile, Tita meets with Dr. Caranza. She needs his help because Ozvi has a problem that could cost them their marriage. Dr. Caranza reminds her that Ozvi is not a young man anymore. Maybe they need to consult a specialist if they're having "technical problems". Tita is shocked. Ozvi doesn't have *that* problem. His problem is that he snores!

After Aranza leaves Javier gets right on the phone to Sonia. He wants Sonia to talk Aranza into marrying him. "Arturo is having money problems and Aranza will do anything to help her precious daddy. If we want that trust fund, now's the time." Sonia asks what happened to Arturo but Javier says he'll fill her in later. Right now Sonia needs to talk to Aranza and lead her to the idea of getting married. Make sure it's Aranza's idea.

Fabricio shows up at Dan's and offers him a job. He refuses the offer. Fab tells him that Sonia loves him and she's concerned about him. Dan laughs bitterly, "Are you serious? If Sonia wants to help someone, it's not me she should be helping." Fabricio doesn't understand. Dan says, "Tell her what I said. She'll know who I mean." Fabricio offers Dan his business card but Dan won't take that either. Fab ends up putting it on the table before he goes. Dan slams the door behind him. Agatha watches curiously as Fabricio leaves the tenement.

Agatha brings Dan a plate of food and asks, "Who was that guy who visited?" Between big bites of food Dan tells her it was his sister's husband who came to offer him a job. Dan won't take money from his father and he sure isn't taking it from his sister or her husband! Agatha chides him, "You're too proud." She knows that Gil is stubborn but he's Dan's father and he offered to help. She urges Dan to reconcile with Gil. She asks what happened between Dan and Borlas and suspects it's about Mari. Dan says it involves a woman. Actually he hit on another girl and Borlas won't let him forget it. Dan admits he loves Ileana. She changes the subject and tells him Mauricio and Andrea okayed him staying at Meanie's old place.

Lucha and Gabino talk about Arturo's problems. Dafne stops just short of the kitchen and listens in. "Arturo could lose everything, including this house!" Dafne's not too happy when she hears Lucha say, "The one who needs to find another place to live is Senorita Dafne!"

Dafne listens in on Lucha and Gabino.

Isabel prays for help. Aranza comes in and says she talked to Javier. He offered to help, but he doesn't have enough money. Isabel is fed up with Javier's phony offers. She knows he doesn't have enough money to help Arturo. Aranza asks why Isabel thinks everything about Javier is bad? (I take it that's a rhetorical question?) Isabel thinks Javier might have enough money to buy her penthouse. She asks Aranza to tell Javier to make an offer. The doorbell rings. Sonia arrives at exactly the right time. Isabel has to leave and of course Aranza blabs to Sonia all about Art's money problems. "They'll take everything including the house. My dad could end up in jail!"

Meanwhile, Dr. Evil is flipping through a photo album from her days with Arturo and licking all the pictures. She sighs, "Arturo, no one can give you what I can. I have to get you back with me." I'm actually surprised she doesn't have "Kill Isabel" written in red spray paint on her wall. There's a knock at the door. Her Fantasy Man has arrived.

Ally and Bruno discuss the investigation, the lawsuit and the trial. Bruno isn't sure that they'll win. They agree not to say anything to Tita or Ozvi.

The ever unsuspecting Arturo arrives at Maricela's.

Arturo and Maricela sit on the couch, drink wine and talk. He needs someone to talk to and there's nothing better than an obsessed old flame friend. Arturo doesn't know what to do. If he can't come up with the money to pay back his client he'll go to jail! Arturo feels like he's cornered and there is no escape! Maricela looks like she's ready to pounce. Arturo didn't leave word with anyone about where he was going. If Isabel is lucky, Dr. Evil will tie Art to her bed and never let him go. Then all Isa will have to do is pack a bag, kick Aranza's butt, leave Mexico and start a new life.

Sonia consoles Aranza over coffee. Sonia is very sorry to hear about all of Arturo's problems, he must be really worried. Maybe she could ask Fabricio to help Arturo out? "No, no, "Aranza shakes her head. That's not necessary. Sonia wishes she knew what to do to help. She muses and puzzles and slyly tosses out, "It's too bad you can't get the trust fund Eugenia left you until you get married." We see a dim light bulb switch on over Ara's head. Problem solved!
