Que Pobres Tan Ricos #68: 4/10/14: Amor de Microbus!

Hola, Mis Peeps! I'm doing an on the fly recap again. Not too many details. I had some trouble with the convo between Frida and Mau and also some with Tizoc and his band. Please feel free to let me know what it is that I missed. I learn so much from Y'all : ) I am skipping the refried and getting right to the new.

Shall we begin with an earworm? I have selected one for Lupe from her past so to speak with Ahole,  Love On A Two Way Street!

Vilma asks Ahole if maybe there wasn't a past ahem, woman he could have had a child with. I think he insults these women as low class and wouldn't want a child of theirs. He thinks about it for a hawt second and then decides, impossible, absurd! He is and I quote 100% sure that no such child exists.

Tizoc and Don Chuy are just about done cleaning up the kitchen from that fire. Don Chuy feels like a little man for the way he reacted to Carmelita. He looks like he's crying, but he tells Tizoc he's got something in his eye, yeah, right!

AS is at some salon complaining about the quality of their lotions, not like the ones in France or whereva when her former friends show up. They want to know why she is still in Mexico and not in Italia. AS claims it's for the wedding and the stuff she bought has to do with it, when they ask her of course. When is the wedding? Don't know yet, cause it depends on the Count and Countess, but will be sure to invite them.

Sharkey pays a visit to AS, but she isn't there. Don Chuy is looking at him like que the hell is he asking for Ana Sofia for. Sharkey calls her Anita, and then is corrected and her calls her Ana Chofi. He wants some advice from Don Chuy. He wants to take AS out to a fancy restaurant and also what does AS like? Say in flowers. Don Chuy tells Sharkey that AS will be back later and he also asks about that payment Don Chuy owes. Don Chuy doesn't look pleased.

MA has returned to the Fonda and the Menchaca's get a kick out of him kinda bouncing around from that bus. It's like losing your sea legs on dry land. MA asks after Leo, Frida and AS and then goes.

Don Chuy starts to tell Lupe about Carmelita not being there anymore, but she has to go to the market.

Mini is driving and Beto hops in a cab to follow her, but first calls Ahole to let him know he is doing that. Ahole wants lots of pics. Beto still hasn't quite figured out how to use that camera on the smart phone and Ahole thinks he's an idiot. Didn't he read the instructions?

Lupe is waiting for MA round back cause she knows he is meeting Mini at Cafe Chinos so she gives him a ride on her moto (her scooter) and he wears Emi's helmet.

Frida, with her still stained face, has gone to see Mau a friend of hers. She wants a big favor from him and it's bidness, after all he is a millonaire thanks to the RPs. He hems, he haws, but he gives in. It has to do with Tizoc's band and representing them I think. After the deal, Mau mentions that Frida's face is stained with carbon from what looks like a gas fire.

Lupe drops MA off in front of Cafe Chinos and Beto has arrived in the cab. He saw Mini go in, but not MA. Beto is fiddling with the camera and takes a pic of Lupe. Ahole wanted Beto to send some pics to him and Beto sent one of what looked like a bridge strut, but it's a dog's leg, I think and the one of Lupe. Ahole says I know this woman. Vilma doesn't think he knows her, but Ahole says her name is Guadaloupe Menchaca and then he has a flashback to his moment with Mini in the office and Lupe walking in and going out and crying and how Ahole told her he is the boss and she's just a receptionist and he's not in love with her. Vilma also remembers barring Lupe from seeing Ahole recently.

Mini and MA are inside Cafe Chinos and Mini is apologizing to MA and swears she will help him any way she can and she also needs his help. He promises to help her. She says she is doing this cause she hates injustice and she wants justice!

Beto outside continues to take pics of Lupe, and she notices and is way uncomfortable. She calls MA inside the cafe and tells him about Beto taking pics and Mini guesses it is Beto, Ahole's henchie, trying to get proof on her, so MA sneaks out the back way and Mini goes to confront Beto out front. She takes that smart phone from him, smashes it on the ground and then grinds it into the sidewalk with her heel.

Tizoc and his band are together and they found a new guitarist. He is an EMO type of dude, black clothes and somber, his whistle is even somber. Deigo comes by too.

Leo is up at the Penthouse having decorated the outside and the inside of the Penthouse, and I must say, it isn't bad. Leo would make a great decorater, given better material. Anyhoo, Deigo has come for a class and pays Leo. Leo has Deigo look at a painting, it is one of a battle, probably from the 1700's and tells Deigo to close his eyes and "feel" the painting as in the colors, the sounds, the feeling, imagine yourself in that painting. It is a post modern and to tell Leo what he "sees" so to speak. Deigo describes the colors and the music and all of a sudden Perla interrupts breaking the moment.

Vilma looks at Lupe's file and discovers there really isn't anything in there. Ahole wanted her address, since she is one of those women he spoke about earlier. Vilma doesn't think this woman is any good, but Ahole wants results not advice, hop to it. Shoo, Shoo!

Mini is back home and with Isela and she tells her all about Beto following her. Isela is sure that Ahole wants proof of Mini's infidelity.

Leo gives Perla a lecture of the VIP, ie. as in the Penthouse is off limits. Please go. She does and Deigo does too. Leo is happy with the lana for such a short class. Deigo tells Perla he is taking a class from Leo. Perla wants to know what is it that Deigo has an inclination for? Well the arts, ya know, painting, music. Then she asks about women, but he goes off and Perla said something about Ricky Martin and a band.

Speaking of bands, Tizoc and his band are playing a new song entitled "Amor de Microbus", it's one he wrote and it's got a good beat. Frida comes in and enjoys the beat too. Frida talks with Tizoc and the guys and they whistle with her.

AS comes home and sees the painting on the patio and goes into the Penthouse, where Leo is trying to get the TV to work. MA explains that cable isn't free, they will need it to get reception and he doesn't want to jack up Don Chuy's bills. AS wants the TV for news, not the TNs as Frida suggests. MA did an Option A and B, but I didn't catch it.

Nepo calls MA for a chat. Trofeo is with Nepo and apparently Nepo isn't happy with something. Trofeo goes off and MA comes in. Nepo wants a report on Lupe from Chalma, what happened after he left. MA has that flashback of the hawt, romantic night they spent together. MA lies and says everything was normal. Nepo tells MA he is trying to get Lupe back and the marriage thingy again and MA says his spying for Nepo is done.

Don Chuy has fixed the TV or hooked it up to the cable cause AS' TN is on, but there is a report about El Bambi and how the cops are looking for him for money laundering. MA remembers El Bambi at a meeting at El Editorial with Adolfo and Ahole. Then he remembers Trofeo telling him about El Bambi's Tia at the market. MA says that's him, that's him.

Don Chuy, Tizoc and Lupe are in the kitchen and they offer their help, manana. Lupe finds this very suspicious cause Carmelita and she are always in the kitchen, preparing and serving. She wants an explanation. He says it's a difference of opinion between a boss and an employee, and Lupe is pithed that Don Chuy considers Carmelita an employee when Carmelita is part of the familia. Lupe wants Don Chuy to look her in the eye and tell her the truth. Don Chuy looks kinda scared!

AVANCES:

MA tells Saul he is in love with Lupe.

Ahole meets up with Lupe in the 'hood and Emi calls her Mama in front of Ahole, Ruh, Roh! MUST SEE TV!

Hola Y'all. My Spanish was a bit off tonight. So if I missed something please let me know. I picked this earworm cause I love this song and Julie likes this artist too. When this artist recorded this single she was only thirteen years old! Enjoy the recap : )

Oh no, Julie was only thirteen when this song came out? What does that make me? I don't want to think about it!!

Anyway, thanks for doing a very fine recap as usual, Madelaine.

Interesting and funny:

Alejo telling Vilma he was always a gentleman and took care of things so he wouldn't have any "bastarditos" running around.

AS's friend Nepa asking AS if the wedding was coming up so soon because the couple "had eaten the cake ahead of time" i.e. had to get married.

The guests at the wedding are all going to get little bags with gifts just like the actors get at the Oscars says AS as an explanation of why she was buying lotions in DF as opposed to in Europe when asked about it by her friends.

Minerva catching Beto, grabbing his nose, choking him with his tie and stomping on his phone.

Diego's sexuality was in the forefront again: 1) there was the impromptu art lesson in front of the painting with male nudity. 2) Perla saying that Diego had told her she wasn't her type so then asking him what was his type: blonde girls? brunette girls? tall girls? skinny girls? or skinny boys? He tells not to even go there and she replies with something about Ricky Martin. So, we know where that is going.

Memo the guitarist who only whistles.

AS not wanting to watch Mexican TV. Frida telling her she'd love "La fuerza del destino."

The funny highlight for me:

Nepo asking MA to come over so he can tell him what went on with Lupita when he had to go home. Nepo still has not given up on Lupita. His questions: Did you treat her as she deserves to be treated? Did you take care of her well? And as Madelaine said the "hawt" scenes were brought back to the mind of MA as he thought about their romantic interlude. Then there was MA's response of: I attended/ took care of her well. The clincher was MA telling Nepo that it was better that he not work for him or discuss Lupe with him anymore. When Nepo asks MA to explain what he means, MA just gets a goofy grin says no and leaves very quickly.

Looks like don Chuy is going to have to come clean with Lupita re. Carmelita.

Just too much that was too funny. I am loving this one.

Jarifa

Thanks, Mads. I didn't see this, can't read it now, and am looking forward to reading it later as potentially the high point of my day. :-)

Ooops! I think this needs to be tagged to Pobres.

Yes, I was 13 when that song came out. That was a lonnnnnnng time ago!

Great recap Madeline, Thank you!

Nepo was mad at Trofeo because he didn’t tell him about the fire at the Menchaca’s house sooner. Nepo could have offered his help to Lupita and the family.

I loved how MA told Nepo that he took care of Lupita very well (as he was remembering the love making in Chalma).

So Perla now thinks that Diego might be on Ricky Martin’s band, meaning he is gay too.
Diego got offended when she asks if he likes skinny boys….

I liked seeing Lupe watching MA’s back. And it was kind of cute when she put the helmet on him as if he was a kid.

My favorite scene was Minerva grabbing Beto by his nose and tie then smashing the smart phone on the ground. Then Beto saying that he likes them rough like that as Minerva walked away.

Evelin

Thanks Mads!

Yep, my favorite scenes were the ones you all have pointed out so far. I also loved how MA snuggled up to Lupita on the scooter.

Perla is starting to figure out that Diego isn't into girls. She didn't seem as upset about it as I thought she would.

Alejo also seems to think that Mini and Lupita may have joined forces to take him down, in addition to thinking she's still a babe. Beto also thought she's a cutie (chulita), which is why he started taking pics of her with his now smashed smart phone. Seems like he still managed to get a shot of her license plate and send it before Mini smashed it.

Hello Y'all

Thanks for all the added bits and the corrections, they are much appreciated : )

One point of correction, I was saying that Stacey Stanislaw was thirteen when she recorded this single, not Julie : )

I wasn't sure what Perla was asking Deigo, so thanks for that.

Jarifa:

It's too bad you don't have time to recap, you are a treasure and thanks so very much.

Julie:

Sorry about the age thingy, I didn't mean you I meant Stacey Stanislaw : )

Evelin:

Thanks so much for your added bits. I too like the way that Mini grabbed Beto and gave him the bidness, it was too funny.

Vivi:

That cuddle on the scooter was so cute. My daughter has a scooter she uses in the summer time and I'm surprised that MA and Lupe fit on that thing. The scooters really aren't that big and MA in his helmet, which was a mite too small was very funny. They are so very cute.

Julie:

Thanks for the reminder about tagging it. I was so tired last night I forgot to do that. Thanks : )

Thank you, Madelaine, your kind words made my day!

Jarifa

Thanks for your recap Mads. I knew Stacy was 13 when she recorded that song. Later she made a song with Johnny Gil, who had/has a booming voice even at a young age, and some got concerned about this old man singing with this young girl.

I'm also surprised that Perla is not more upset about Diego. I hope she finds a nice guy.

Julie thanks for your recap yesterday.

I too was surprised that Perla wasn't upset about Diego. But I think that's because she's just suspicious of his 'inclinations' at this point. If/when she does confirm it's true she may take it a lot worse. I think she will eventually end up with Tomas as he has shown he is interested in her.

Stacy Lattisaw and I were both 13. Or were we? Wikipedia says she was born the year before me... actually, that makes sense. She would have been 13 when she recorded "Let Me Be Your Angel" and I was 13 by the time it was a big hit. :)

Madelaine, don't feel bad about having trouble with Frida's conversation with Mauricio and Tizoc's with his band. I hardly ever understand the kiddies.

Having said that... I can't wait to see all of this for myself!!

Jarifa mentioned a guitarist named Memo who only whistles. Does anyone remember a bilingual PBS show from the late 1970s called Villa Alegre? There was a character named Mimo who, I think, whistled instead of speaking. (And he always wore yellow.)

Maybe I'm not remembering right, though, and he was completely silent.

The whistling guitarist played Sebastian on Mentir Para Vivir.
