TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- Avenida Brasil, En Otra Piel, Camelia la Texana, et cetera, week of April 28, 2014
Labels: avenida, camelia, piel, reina-corazones, telemundo
We again see Jorge Larrea grilling Mondriana in the restaurant about the fact that the handwriting on her note exactly matches a sample he has of Mónica Serranos’s writing. She rather feebly tries to convince him that her mother and Mónica were in the same school and learned to write the same way. Then he tells her that he can see she knows who he is. She admits this, but swears she didn’t know he owned the land. He then asks her why all the interest in his nieces?
We also continue with Gerardo and his brother Ernesto talking about “Raúl Camacho” being in his office. Gerardo says that at first he thought the guy was only looking at the financial records when he broke into his office on the weekend. But the guy found the drawer where Gerardo keeps las etiquetas (labels) of the adulterated wine. Ernesto keeps telling him not to worry; that the guy is only a figurehead. But Gerardo asks why the guy would have taken one of those labels.
Mondriana tells Jorge her cover story, about how Mónica helped her a lot after her mother, who was Mónica’s friend, died. She gains some favor with him in telling what a great person Mónica was. Jorge replies that everyone loved her, openly or secretly! He brings up the elephant in the room: how could someone who works as a governess have $1 million to buy a vineyard?
Ernesto tries to calm Gerardo down by reminding him the wines are only sold in Asia and that the sales transactions don’t ever appear in the Larrea books. He also advises his brother to get those labels out of his office.
Ricardo asks his mother why she never dated anyone after separating from his father. He speculates that she still has feelings for Rodrigo.
Elena comes to Camila’s room and gives her some fake sympathy about her problems with Ricardo, plus a little dose of poison in her ear. She assures Cami that Ricardo must have followed her to find her in that restaurant. She also hints he’s one of those jealous guys who never change. Over Cami’s back we can see Elena smirk when Cami tells her how much the breakup with Ricardo hurts. She’s lovin’ it. Then she tries to convince Cami to give Ernesto a chance, since he’s “at her level”.
Mondriana doesn’t tell Jorge how she got the money, just that it isn’t exactly hers. She tells him now much the vineyard means to Camila and that Mónica left the house and the winery to Gerardo. He’s stunned.
At La Malquerida Maite has made quite an impression with her blonde wig and makeover, and Anselmo is jealous.
Jorge can’t believe that Mónica would have left her daughters with crumbs. He says she wouldn’t be capable of such a thing. Mondriana tells him that she’s sure that, wherever she might be, Mónica Serrano realizes her error and wants to make it right. Selma arrives, and Jorge is amazed to see her after 30 years. [Does she have a little gleam in her eye about him? Her relationship with Esteban is not exactly torrid.] Jorge deduces that Selma must be the story behind the money. Selma says that’s part of it.
Eileen is helping Valeria learn some computer skills and is having Vale write a wish list on the computer. Valeria says she wants to work in a fine restaurant and to learn to cook food from all over the world. Eileen shows her how to navegar (search) for things like recipes. Eileen is surprised to learn what an underprivileged childhood Vale had; she can’t either ride a bicycle or swim.
Lupe tells Diego that she’s a decent woman and that there was nada de nada with her husbands and herself before marriage. Diego: “So that’s why you got married so many times!”
Back at the restaurant Selma tells Jorge that Mónica, Mónica (Mondi) and herself were planning to open a restaurant and that, shortly before she died, Mónica gave Selma the money. Mondriana chimes in that her contribution was to be sweat equity. Jorge seems to understand this explanation, but leaves without giving them an answer.
Gerardo tells Ernesto about Elena catching Mónica with some guy at the Guest house. He says he’s sure Elena’s story about thinking it was a thief she was going to shoot is not the truth. He still has his shorts in a knot about Diego. Ernesto thinks he’s right to be suspicious and tells him to be careful of Mondriana and the midnight guest. Maybe they’re trying to do to him what he did to Mónica and end up with his money! Ernesto says that all kinds of girls refuse jewelry because they’re hoping to get the whole cake! Gerardo is insulted. He tells his brother that he can bring around any woman whatsoever and he’ll have her eating out of his hand in one week. He shouts that he’s the hunter, not the prey!
Susi calls Marta because she’s overheard Vicki having another nightmare about Elena and blood. Marta advises her to try to get Vicki to talk about what’s going on, but insists she’s not coming back. She also tells her not to say anything to Elena about what she heard. Ricardo overhears his mother’s side of the conversation.
Driving away from Ernesto’s Gerardo calls Mondriana in a panicky way, saying he’s got to see her and that she should come to the Lake House. When she arrives, grabs her roughly, kissing her hard and scaring her. Mondriana pushes Gerardo away. She tells him to tell her right now what’s happening or it’s over between them. She tells him again that Diego is only a friend. He’s overwrought, and tells her he can’t bear the idea of losing him. She replies that she can’t bear the idea of his suffering over something that doesn’t exist. She tells him to stop with the jealousy, or it will ruin everything between them.
Ricardo asks his mother why she told Susi not to tell Elena what Vicki dreamt. Marta tells him that, judging by Vicki’s nightmare, Elena has been threatening her. Ricardo tells her that they’ve got to get to the bottom of Vicki’s nightmare and what it means.
Gabriel has won a huge bear for Jennifer at a carnival. He tells her he’s saving money from the caricature work and wants to rent a room they can live in together. Naturally, after she gets off the bus in her neighborhood, Rottweiler is lying in wait for her. He’s suspicious of where she got the bear. He tells her he wants her back and tries to kiss her. She breaks away and tells him he already has a girlfriend: La Choya. She gets away from him, but we can tells from his demeanor that he’s not going to give up.
Jorge is in a fancy apartment, arranged for him by the guy who acts as his agent in the US. He tells the guy he wants to get to know his nieces and to find out if it’s true that Mónica could have done such a thing to her daughters. He says it’s impossible for her to have done it. Jorge says he doesn’t believe Selma and Mondriana. He thinks they’re hiding something. He mentions hiring a private detective to find out who this Mónica really is!
We see some more hot sex between Mondi and Gerardo at the Lake House. It would be nice if, just once, Elena wasn’t looking for him at exactly the same time. We see her call Ernesto. She tells him that Gerardo called to say he was spending the night at his brother’s and she wants Ernie to pass him the phone! Ernesto tells her to hold on. We hear him shout for his brother several times, loudly. He comes back on the phone and tells her Gerardo is in the shower. She insists on a call back, of course.
In a post-coital glow Gerardo says he’d give anything to go away with Mondriana. She sits up and asks him: “And if you returned to Camila and Emiliana what is theirs?” Whoa! Gerardo sits up looking none too happy.
Thanks for the nice, complete recap, Novelera. It's weird that Jorge is so sure that Monica would not have disinherited her daughters but Monica, who has come back from the dead to help her daughters, can't remember and thinks that she might have left everything to Gerardo.
At least we found out on Friday that Elena was lying to Lorena about Julian. According to her extended flashback, it was she who seduced Julian and convinced herself that he would leave Monica for her and killed him when he refused. It is still not clear how she managed to get enough blood on her dark-colored clothes that Vicki would notice it.
Romy- I just looked online (zap2it) and I see AB on Telemundo's schedule all week at the usual 12pm time.
Unfortunately, Mads won't be able to recap AB this week. If anyone else wants to jump in with highlights, please do. I'm sure your fellow fans would appreciate it.
This was a heavy episode, filled with irony and melancholy. There were a number of deaths, leaving us wondering where the story will go now. As usual, my attention was riveted to the screen.
Hilda (Allison's mother) has Jacinto tied up in a back room, and she isn't giving him food, or letting him go to the bathroom. She tells Allison to called Misael, who arrives. Hilda won't let him explain one thing, and KILLS him, shot after shot, saying he's a traitor. She later tells Ali she did that to set an example for Jacinto that she won't be pushed around.
Emi is playing with a knife, Ali takes it away, and seems to be making some progress with him, that she will NEVER abandon him, that she DOES love him.
Arnulfo arrives, Hilda puts the gun on him, but he's such a tough guy, so unperturbed, that Hilda agrees to be partners, they share tequila, and they even get attracted to each other sexually! I think Deb predicted this.
Antonio discovers a huge shipment, maybe intended for or from Octavio, of cocaine. Benigno says they have a chance to start fresh, they should grow corn or raise cattle. Antonio scoffs, that's not our destiny. They're going to get re-established with the coke. He thanks Ben for being by his side, says they should never have secrets. This prompts Ben to sort of reveal that he's gay, which doesn't go over well at all with Antonio, although he doesn't actually say a word of disapproval, and Benigno weeps.
Wilson and Natasha don't have enough gas to get across the border, and land the plane in a field. Before they land, they call Octavio and prove that Dani is alive. They want to exchange Dani for their freedom. Carson, Facundo and Camelia (and Octavio) are figuring things out, hot on the trail.
Natasha flags down a passing car. The guy won't stop, but she's such a good shot, she kills him from 50 feet behind his speeding car. They take the car, drive for miles until they find a cabin.
Octavio (still coughing from his rat poison), Camelia, Carson and Facundo find the cabin, Oct looks inside, sees Dani tied up, she's shaking her head no, no, but he opens the door, and a rope was rigged, Dani's chair comes out from under her toes, and she's HANGED! Octavio rushes in, too late. Hundreds of miles away, little Alma gasps, "Daniela!".
Natasha and Wilson drive for a while, but they haven't slept in days, decide to sleep in the car. When they wake, the battery's dead. Wilson wants to flee, start a new life, but Natasha says that's no life, they'd always be on the run, and in the convent she learned of eternal peace in the life to come. Are you sure? asks Wilson. Yes, and she opens a little vial she's had around her neck for the last fifteen years. Forgetting all about the expiration date, they each take a little pill.
Next morning, our "good guys" find them, dead, in each others' arms.
I was only half paying attention and fast forwarding a lot, so here are the major plot points that I remember.
-Agatha and Muricy still hate Nina for causing Tifon to want to divorce Carmina. I really wish Tifon was more forceful about saying this isn’t true.
-Jorjito, Nina, and Begonia are upset about the money robbery. Nina figures out that the guy Begonia was seeing was Max and realizes that Max and Carmina were behind stealing her inheritance money.
-Nina and Begonia go to confront Max. He makes fun of them.
-Max and Carmina relish having bamboozled and robbed those two idiots, and celebrate with lots of booze and lots of sex.
-Max thinks they now have enough moolah to leave Tifon and his family behind. Carmina still won’t walk away from Tifon and his money.
-Carmina wants to know where the money is being kept. Max won’t tell her. HE’S in charge this time. Carmina is not pleased.
-Jorgito is majorly ticked off at Carm and Max, and even more so now that they have robbed Nina, and are STILL leeching off of Tifon and the family. He goes over to the house, intent on telling Tifon the truth and kicking Carm and Mex out. He doesn’t want Nina to do it, because he doesn’t want the family to become more upset at her for her deception.
-At the house, Jorgito does his usual glowering at Max and Carm, and his snide comments. Which since it is so common, the family doesn’t take seriously. He barely keeps his cool with Max and causes a ruckus at the dinner table. However, he is not able to tell Tifon the truth when Carm taunts him about how much the truth would hurt Tifon.
-The only thing Jorgito does manage to do right are a series of conversations alone with Agatha, to try to convince her not to hate Nina.
-Meanwhile, Nina and Begonia talk about the evil seductress and manipulator, Carmina. Begonia points out that Nina has followed Carm’s playbook very closely. After all, didn’t she seduce Max, and even Tifon? Nina is offended by the suggestion that she seduced Tifon, but has to admit that they were moments between them when she felt he was feeling more than fatherly feelings for her. She, however, never saw his as anything other than a father figure. In fact, he reminds her of her dad Genesio, with his sweet naiveté.
- Jorgito returns home to Nina and Begonia with the news of his failure. Nina understands because she also has been held back by not wanting to hurt Tifon and his family. They decide to hide multiple copies of the incriminating pictures in different locations, as insurance and to prevent Max and Carm from getting all the copies.
-Nina and Jorgito fall back on their doormats to help hide the photo copies. Jorgito asks Deborah, and Nina asks Betania. Betania’s boyfriend comes home to find Nina there. He is NOT happy about that and he’s suspicious and looks over to the dresser where Betania just hid the photos. Betania only tells him that Nina came to say goodbye since she and Jorgito are leaving.
-Carm and Max talk about how to further screw Nina over and prevent her from harming them. Carm thinks they should buy off someone who Nina trusts…
-Nina is really distressed about Agatha hating her. Jorgito makes her promise not to go the house, and says he’ll continue working on Agatha. Instead, Nina goes to see Agatha during one of her street dance performances. Leleco is with Agatha, and Tifon is nearby in Silas’ bar. Leleco spots Nina and goes running to tell Tifon. He tells Tifon to go for it! Tifon surprises Nina and she watches Agatha, and the episode ends.
Thanks Vivi. I don't remember if it was in Thursday's or Monday's episode but Lucio stole Nina's money from Max. Max does not tell Carmina this so trouble is coming. Max is trying sell his boat.
terrific recap Hombre!!!
I was just joking about Hilda and Arnulfo becoming lovers, no, no, no.
poor Miseal, Jacinto blamed him for all of the polla's dying.
I'm still twisting my head about why Wilson is a wanted criminal, and Natasha's crime was for helping Octavio to get that guy killed 10 years ago, but wait, Octavio is now with the good guys and even has a gun.
I really liked Daniela, and when they were running out of gas in the plane, Natasha suggests they could fly further if the plane were lighter, (looking at poor Dani), I'm glad Wilson nixed that idea.
ah, the Sea of Cortez (that they flew across), is the Gulf of California, between the mainland and Baja.
Jean- Oooh! Good to know. So what is Max's plan then, if he doesn't still have the money? I wouldn't think he would so easily let Lucio get away with taking "his" money.
Lucio had a gun and I don't think that Max is the violent type. I think that he is hoping to convince Carmina that the money he hopes to get for his boat is the money from Nina. On today's episode, he mentioned an amount of money that they would have to Carmina and she corrected him. She was very suspicious when he was vague with amounts of money since that is something about which he is always very accurate.
Line o' the day
Monalisa comes to Tessalia's rescue:
"¡Oye Leleco escucha algo! Esto es un salón de belleza. Las personas vienen para cortarse el cabello y tú no tienes ninguna de las dos, ni cabello ni belleza. Por favor vete de aquí."
"Listen Leleco. This is a beauty salon. People come here to get their hair cut and you don't have either one, hair or beauty. Please get out."
***
Adriana Esteves is a marvelous actress. When Carmina was hugging Agatha in today's episode I really wanted to reach through the screen and choke her. I have to remember that Carmina isn't a real person.
Carmina's obsession with Nina is going to be her downfall. She thinks Max isn't too bright but he's talking sense when he says they should go away. But Carmina has to keep sticking it to Nina. Oi, oi, oi!
apparently this premiered in Mexico (Gala TV) on Monday night, (what?)
[wiki says it will start for us on July 8th]
so I watched some of the first chapter on youtube, it's looking pretty HOT, the leads Eugenio Siller (with a dragon tatoo) and Paola Núñez (who reminds me somewhat of Genesis Rodriguez) really click together, well done scenes, and for the rest, many familiar faces, lots of action (same writer as "Corazón Valiente"), excellent music, and for those that don't like Eugenio Siller, it looks like Juan Soler's character has dedicated his life to getting back at him, and of course there is always the mesmerizing Catherine Siachoque, whether dressed to the nines, with hat, veil, heels, and a cigar, to a heart stopping pole dance for her lucky/unlucky new husband.
the novela 'intro' is being posted as a promo, well worth watching.
Thanks for the line o' the day, Sue455. I loved that one, too. I totally agree on Adriana Esteves' brilliant acting as Carmina.
Let's see. Yesterday, Carmina and Max executed their plot to destory Nina and get the compromising pictures back.
Carmina found out about Nina's farewell party for Begonia. Max hired a guy who put drugs in Nina's purse, stole her phone and then called the police. Nina, Begonia and Betania were arrested. [I'm not sure why Betania and Begonia were arrested.]
Jorge sees the girls being taken to the police station. He follows and is totally unhelpful. He annoys the police by saying things like, "look at Nina; she couldn't be a criminal." He also can't reach a lawyer.
Meanwhile Max has Nina's phone and sends a text to Tifón saying that she has been arrested. This totally backfires on Max and Carmina. Instead of believing that Nina is a drug trafficker like Muricy does, Tifón immediately goes to the police station. What a difference being a famous, rich person makes. The police recognize and welcome him; he gets to see Nina and his lawyer shows up immediately. Poor Jorgito has to lurk impotently at the police station watching all this.
Begonia cops to putting the drugs in Nina' purse - apparently paying back Nina for something she did for Begonia in Argentina. Nina and Betania are released. Since her "boyfriend" hasn't shown up, Nina has no choice but to let Tifón drive her to a neighborhood where she says that she lives.
Meanwhile, Carmina has offered Valdo money to give her what Betania hid in the house. He finds the pictures, hesitates but finally calls Carmina and gives her the pictures for 20,000. He is mean to Betania when she gets home and Betania goes to see Nina and Jorge to tell them about that.
Max gets into Begonia’s room and finds her copy of the photos so that’s two copies gone and is Débora’s the only one left?
When Tifón is at the police station, Carmina takes her opportunity and goes to the house and pretends to care about Agata, getting her to say how much she misses her mother etc. She and Max do all they can to blacken Nina’s character. Muricy is in their camp, Ivanka isn’t sure but Adauto believes in Nina’s goodness. Max makes a mistake when he suggests that Nina was involved in the attempted robbery at the house when Janaína is present. She knows that Max hired Lucio to do that and that Nina kept Lucio from being arrested. She gives Max a look.
Carlitos is having a great time in Divino: he doesn’t shave; he doesn’t care if he is living in a dump; he hangs out in Silas’ bar and plays in the pickup soccer game in the street and makes a goal. Then in a very funny scene, the three harpies show up. They can’t believe that Carlitos can live like that and demand that he get a job and take care of his three families. [On Monday, we heard Carlitos tell Muricy that he does have some money stashed.]
Darkson has let Tessalia stay at his place. He believes that this is his opportunity to make her fall in love with him. He astonishes Silas by cooking and cleaning. Silas says something like he didn’t realize that Darkson knew how to use a stove. Darkson convinces Tessalia to pretend to be his novia to teach Leleco a lesson. They go to the dance at Silas’ bar together. Leleco tries to move in on Tessalia so Darkson kisses her and it is clear that Tessalia gets into it.
Diógenes announces that he is marrying Dolores again, presumably for the sex, but he says that he isn’t going to become religious.
Carlitos is attracted to Suelen but Roni and Leandro warn him off.
You guys! The first episode of 'Reina de Corazones' is on YouTube- it's AMAZING!!!
Paola Nunez is already terrific- she's gorgeous but at the same time one believes her humility and the humanity of her character, and her chemistry with Eugenio Siller is ADORABLE! I'm not usually a big one for the big lovey-dovey stuff (give me drama, action, and plot twists and turns anyday (speaking of which- where the hell IS Eric Vonn???), but after just one episode I really LIKED this couple and many times found myself saying out loud (to no one in particular) "Awwww... they're so CUTE!!!"
Catherine Siachoque- God, is it good to see her back on TV. I don't know how she does it, but she commands every scene she's in. And her character is absolutely PERFECT for her- a CLASSIC 'femme fatale', and I can't WAIT to see the mayhem she causes.
THEN... on top of it all, we have Juan Soler has a ruthless and powerful Alpha Male gangster type, who also happens to be grieving (over something I won't divulge). He looks great in his Italian suits and dark glasses- what a change from his last role in 'Marido en Alquiler'. AND, as an added bonus- Wanda D'Isidoro (one of the few good things, if you ask me, about the execrable 'Santa Diabla... (FWIW, I thought Gilda Haddock was pretty damn good, too)), is Susanna, Juan Soler's wife!
The production values, background music, and everything- as usual with Telemundo- are high, making this altogether a real treat to watch. Just in the first episode alone, we've had a death, a suicide, a marriage proposal, and an attempted murder. I'm ALREADY hooked!!
I know we usually all watch these together, and believe me, I'll be HAPPY to watch it again from 'Ground Zero' with you all but, for any of you who may be interested, here's the link from the first episode (courtesy of Gala TV). But I think we've found a GOOD ONE here!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCve6Jxahuc
Best wishes to all!! :-)
It's really something how these shows can hook us. Despite the fact that very few of us are watching Camelia, I'm loving every minute of it! Sara Maldonado is wonderful, world weary at her young age, full of love for Facundo, but knowing they have no future, since he's a good guy, and she's a "lost cause".
Carson gets a promotion, he's sort of in charge of the whole area now (maybe what Wilson was), they like what he's doing. Facundo is also offered a promotion by a guy named Ortiz, to the Mexican Intelligence Agency. But he's not sure if he'll take it (still longs to be with Camelia). These two cops are an amazing team, the whole show could almost be centered on them.
Or on Mireya, as she's another one who's really grown, she has a brilliant idea for getting the cocaine across the border. Dissolve it in water, dunk blue jeans in the water, and send the jeans across. On the other side, put the jeans in water again, the coked water comes out, evaporates, and you've got your "merca". Alacran laughs, but Antonio says that's the best idea I've heard yet. And it works! Mireya wants a cut, Antonio first says don't bite the hand that feeds you, I could just put a bullet in your head now, I have the idea. But I'm a nice guy, so 2%. She goes, nope, 10%, and they settle on 5. She's a tough cookie!
Octavio is sad at Daniela's funeral. Camelia is wearing all white, that's different. Later, Oct's Doc says you were poisoned with rat poison. Some one close to you. Oct first wants all the staff checked, then suspects Camelia, but she says she could have killed him easily with a bullet, think again. He does, and realizes it was Alma! He goes in her room and sees the hollowed out candle, the matchbox, the pellets. She's hiding. He finds her, why?! Because you killed my parents, she shoots back.
Antonio accepts Benigno's gayness, saying well, if you were born like that...but I don't want any details!
Arnulfo tells Emi that if you want people not to mess with you, you need to earn their respect. How? Punch em in the nose. Emi does, gets punched back a little (at school) but it seems to work. Mom Allison isn't happy about this, Emi just laughs at her. Allison also gets appalled when she realizes that Hilda and Arnie "revolcando", or doing the nasty.
Antonio is happy, he tells Lu the only thing left is recovering his two children, Alma and Camelia. Like THAT's going to happen!!!
Thanks so much, Jean! I only had the chance to watch the first half hour-- just when the police found the drugs in Nina's purse. But I didn't mind at all, because that was depressing enough for me! Glad to read that Tifon was able to get Nina out. Does poor Begonia half to go to jail, or will they just deport her?
Did Betania's boyfriend admit to selling the photos to Carm, or did they just argue in general? He's turned into a royal jerk. I hope he realizes that whatever Carmina was/is planning could just as easily harm Betania. What if Carm had planned to burn the club down after he told her where Nina was throwing the goodbye party? Is his anger at being poor, and at Nina's interference stronger than his common sense and sense of decency? I guess so.
I laughed at Carlitos and Suelen eying each other. A player recognizes another player. He's collected three wives, and it looks like Suelen would be very happy to have multiple husbands. Her situation with Roni and Leandro is quite a happy one, for now.
Thanks for the recommendation, Deb and Stevey. I like both Eugenio and Juan Soler from back in their Televisa days, but I was disappointed by their last Telemundo roles (Marido, Maid, Aurora). It sounds like Telemundo has finally produced a winner for these two. I'll be sure to look out for it when it arrives to Telemundo.
Stevey- I hope this one is produced in Mexico or South America, because I do not find that Telemundo's Miami-produced tns have a high production value. They tend to feel flat and cheap (see the list of dud tns for Eugenio and Juan above). But the things they produce abroad in partnership with foreign production companies are great.
thanks so much Hombre,
you are so good at capturing the essence of the story.
apparently the General is gone, so it's smooth sailing for Antonio and company, even as though Alacran mentioned yesterday that they hardly have enough guys left for a domino game.
the guy from Mexican intelligence, seemed creepy to me, I'd rather Facundo ran the show rather than work for these other guys.
I'm glad the thing with Alma is out in the open, of course I wouldn't want to be her with Dani coming to her in her dreams.
Alison is really getting a good dose of reality, she must have been living in a dream world married to Emilio, but hey, if Arnulfo goes after Camelia, she might throw in with them.
Yes!, Sara Maldonado is doing a wonderful job as Camelia, it's really intriguing to watch her with Facundo, he is always grabbing her, pulling her tight, protecting her, and she is always pushing away, standing strong, no man's land, but they do have very sensual kisses when they are on neutral ground, he is trying to learn but the feelings are getting more intense each time.
Vivi, I just finished watching the second episode, and yes... I'm definitely hooked. I know what you mean about the sometimes-iffy production values or some Telenovela productions. To me, by and large they're still WAAAAAAY beyond those of a lot of the Televisa novelas (I couldn't bear watching 'De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero' for that reason- every scene seemed to be shot in a closet, with props made of material little better than cardboard), but I do know what you mean...
From the two episodes I've scene, I think (I HOPE!) that Telemundo is investing the kind of press, care, and attention to this that they did to 'La Patrona'. I won't allow myself to watch anything that looks cheap- to me, it just looks like the network is trying to insult our collective intelligence- "we'll just give them a love story, throw in a back story based on some sort of confusion with a couple of trusty, cardboard villains, then give 'em some young people in similar situations that aren't that intense, and they'll tune in. "Production value? Atmosphere? Music?? Who cares about that! Just give me a couple of bankable names and let's get them to start kissing!!" Such , basically, is my opinion of a lot of the (especially Televisa) telenovelas where, also increasingly, the cynical network heads seem to ALSO be thinking: "we've got a ratings HIT here! Let's keep it going!! Who cares if the story is at an end?? Give me some kind of conflict to keep it going! The viewers won't care!!" (cf: 'Corazon Indomable' and, I have to admit, I'm also afraid for the fate of 'Lo Que La Vida Me Robo', too...)
Anyway, after episode two, I can't find much to complain about. Eugenio Siller has obviously been to the gym (he's totally ripped), and Paola Nunez is doing a great job putting her character across, and making us care about her (FYI: I usually wind up hating the heroines, and cheering for the villains because I can't stand all the simpering... is it any wonder my favorite novela is 'Pecados Ajenos'???).
Also, just in two episodes, we see the (totally separate) dilemma our two heros are in: both are good, simple people in circumstances beyond their control... and both are, at the same time, being completely manipulated by two very strong, domineering forces- David vs. Goliath, if you will. The fact that those two strong, rich, powerful forces that our two heroes are increasingly in the palms of are played by Juan Soler (who, I must say, I do feel some compassion towards... and, above all else- he's a REALLY handsome, even likeable villain in this one), and Catherine Siachoque at her best (with Siachoque and Siller the analogy to the Black Widow with its hapless mate has more than once entered my mind... he has no idea how WAY over the head he is with this one...), just gives it extra points in my minds eye.
To top it off, Wanda D'Isidoro has already shown her chops and I'm curious as to the role her character will play as things unfold... AND, two character actors who I'm not sure if they're supposed to bring comic relief or what, but who play 'friends' of Reina- Prescila Perales as Carmen and the scene-stealing Rosalinda Rodriguez as her English-spouting mother Delfina who have already set into motion things whose gravity, I am sure, they have NO clue of and- all in all, it's looking really, really good for we viewers here!
Best wishes to all from Nicaragua!!! :-)
That's deserves bonus points in my book!!!! :-)
Carmelia: I stated watching but too many characters and story lines got the best of me. I still read the recaps.
Otra Piel: I don't like fantasy and science fiction so I only read the recaps.
Romy
Stevey, that would be fabulous if you wanted to write up the first episode when/if Telemundo airs the show this summer.
Just remind us about it, okay? Some of us ... ahem... are getting a little long in the tooth and don't always remember things all that well.
Thanks for jumping in!
Oi, Oi, Oi this keeps getting more suspenseful. What's Nina going to do now that Carmina has spilled her version of the beans to Tifón? Now she has no proof of Carmina's affair with Max and no inheritance. Tifón's heart is broken because he found out that the love of Nina's life is Jorgito. And, because Carmina has poisoned his mind, he thinks that Nina was also after him because he ran over Genesio with his car.
I remember a scene from one of the first episodes. Rita found out that Tifón was going to marry Carmina and she went to one of his appearances and tried to warn him about her. "Sr. Tifón, your fianceé Carmina, you need to know..." But Lucinda got wind of it and took her away. I wonder when Tifón does find out the truth about her if he will remember the little girl who wanted to tell him something about Carmina.

The west coast had this episode on at 11pm and I couldn't stay up to watch. So assuming it's new, I can't give a recap. I recorded it but can't watch until late tonight when come of you will already be watching tonights. Sorry.
But please please let Mondriana keep her suspicions of Gerardo!
Kelly
With all the killings we had, it's time for a new character. He's Agent Stanley McQueen, sort of replacing Carson, who has moved up to replace the deceased Wilson. McQueen is like Wilson, a tough guy who just wants to "get the job done", has no feelings. He immediately sets out to separate Facundo from Camelia. Facundo tells Cami let's get away, start a new life, and this time....she agrees! But in the meantime, McQueen runs into Cami, tells her Facundo already decided to rejoin the Mexican Intelligence, which isn't really true, but makes Camelia think Facundo is lying to her.
Emi decides to stand up like a man in school, and takes his grandma's gun there. He gets bullied, pulls out the gun, and shoots the bully's dog! Arnulfo smooths things over in school, Allison is appalled as usual, Hilda thinks it's funny, and it worked, no more bullying! But Ali doesn't like this, and tries to sneak Emi out of the house in the middle of the night.
Troublemaker Lu tells Antonio they should establish their own routes, even if it means going behind Octavio's back. Mindful of Arnulfo, Antonio agrees, sends Alacran to some guy in a fish market to pave the way. Mireya stows away in Alacran's truck to "help". Alacran finds the guy, whose name is something like Bada, and the guy says no dice, I know who you are. He then calls Octavio to report this betrayal, and Octavio calls Tony, this means war! Antonio is p-oed that Oct won't return Alma.
Cami had told Oct that Alma might be misbehaving because she's never been to school, Antonio home schooled her, and now she believes she has psychic powers. Oct says okay, I'll send her to a boarding school, that'll teach her discipline.
Benigno (the funniest guy in the whole show) is drunk, his office is a mess, when he gets a call from the Governor. When Gov arrives, Ben has cleaned up his act somewhat, and the Gov says he knows about Ben. Ben gets all worried about the gay thing, but actually the Gov says he knows Ben's a born politician, and he wants to get Ben's political career into overdrive!
McQueen meets with Ortiz, and tells him that if Facundo doesn't give up Camelia voluntarily, they might have to make her "disappear". Uh oh.
Octavio has a new mission for Camelia. Since Alma is being put in a boarding school, and Oct told Antonio which one, surely Antonio will go there and try to rescue her. He gives Cami a gun, saying, it's YOUR job to meet Antonio at the boarding school, and KILL him!
another great recap Hombre!
thanks so much.
the unannounced west coast futbol game really crashed my whole routine last night and I missed quite a bit of all of the novelas.
interesting that Camelia might have been better off all along at her dad's (Antonio) side, except that she has never had the intention of being a criminal, and she even told Facunda that what she admires about him is that he is an honest guy looking for justice.
emilio on the other hand has always been a snot.
an interesting thing from Tuesday's show is a conversation Octavio had with Alma, (before he knew she had poisoned him), thinking she was sad, he told her not to worry about Daniela, good people like her don't die, they just move to a different place, she is in "Orun", kind of like heaven, and of course that wasn't comforting at all to Alma.
I’m on the West Coast, but have DirecTV. The dish gives me the option of recording the novela at 6:00 (East Coast broadcast) or 9:00 (West). So whatever sports preempted, I still had my 6:00.
So, briefly, Ricardo actually had a copy of Mónica Serrano’s will from when he was trying to help Cami contest. Mondriana reads it at Rodrigo’s apartment while Marta and Emiliana are busy in the bookstore. She is stunned by what she reads, obviously cannot believe she’d sign such a thing. Ricardo thinks she could have been fooled somehow. Mondriana asks the obvious: Why suspect Elena? She doesn’t benefit by the will. Ricardo says she could have a side arrangement with Gerardo. He also tells of his suspicions about Judge Pervo having changed so dramatically. He was 100% on Cami’s side until he mysteriously ruled against them in the end. At the end of the scene Mondriana looks stricken and says in a whisper: Gerardo and Elena.
Carlos Ricalde (Raúl Camacho) meets with El Pachuco. The rather dim guy hears about how much that special wine costs: $10K per bottle. He makes a remark about putting $5 wine in one of those bottles and the lightbulb goes on over Carlos head. Later he approaches Gerardo and in a smug and insinuating manner, without accusing Gerardo, talks about “increasing the production” of the special wine his being the distributor in Mexico. He’s refused and he backs right off. I’m sure this isn’t the end of this.
The bank has confirmed that the signature on the tuition check is Mónica Serrano’s and Cami is delighted. Fortunately, Elena, hoping to see her face fall, gives the letter with the expert results directly to Cami. Cami insists that Elena needs to apologize to Ricardo. She throws a complete hissy fit in Gerardo’s office, but he calmly says she needs to behave until the money changes hands. Interesting that this hasn’t happened yet. Later Cami and Elena show up at Rod’s place. Marta had said she was leaving, but is still there when they arrive. Cami tells Marta they’ve come to apologize and to ask her to return to Casa Serrano.
Eileen is painting Valeria’s face and giving her advice about how to be coquettish with Diego. They are meeting that evening.
When Gerardo calls Mondriana from the office, she's cold to him and says she doesn't want to see him when he says he'll come right over (scared by the tone of her voice).
That’s about all I remember.
Thanks, Novelera. I think that was about it. Jorge came to the Serrano house to see Camila but she wasn't there. [Wait, he just drove up to the house? What about the gate that keeps other people out.] He declines the offer to see Lorena. After he leaves, the maid (not Vicky - the other one) tells Vicky that the guy looked familiar and finally realizes that the guy who came to the door was the spitting image of the dead Julian Larrea. Vicky freaks out when she hears this.
Jorge then finds Selms. He tells her that he has trouble believing that Selma is friends with Mondriana, that Mondriana is so good-hearted as to try and help Monica's children. He also asks if Selma was in touch with Monica since she left high school. Selma lies and says yes. Then Selma asks Jorge if he has any children and he says, "not that I know of," reinforcing our suspicion that Elena is Jorge's child.
And thanks to you, Jean, for the Jorge part of the story.
We got our wish! Finally, finally Mondriana is onto what really happened. I'm sure it will take her a long time, perhaps the rest of the novela, to put all the pieces together. But her walking around completely innocent period is over at last.
thanks novelera and Jean!
this was on last night but after Camelia.
Ricardo also mentioned the part where Elena enticed Gabriel into her room then started screaming rape.
I think Lorena will be out for most of the show (I could do that part), already people are ignoring her.
I'm guessing Jorge's love for Monica's music will be a key factor in his believing her, once he hears her play.
and the story closes with Monica poking around Elena's ?? room and finding the flash drive with the recording they made of the perv judge.
Thanks, Deb, for reminding me of the final scene. I thought the flash drive would be some kind of documents that would cast suspicion on Elena. But certainly the video of Judge Pervo doesn't make Elena look like an upstanding person!
I got to watch this again and you are doing an amazing job of getting all of the high points, Hombre!
A couple of little things, Facundo is no longer DEA, which is why he was questioning agent Stanley on why he was in HIS office, Stanley and Ortiz want to bring Facundo back into the fold, as they are planning to move now on Octavio, and if Facundo doesn't rejoin, his police job wants him back at their main office in Juarez, his third option was to run away with Camelia.
Octavio wants Camelia to set things up with Carson so that they are buddies, and his amigo chat with agent Stanley didn't go so well.
Antonio is so pleased with business he couldn't wait to tell Octavio, Octavio doesn't listen because he wants to know if Antonio put Alma up to poisoning him, Antonio tells Octavio to send Alma back, they end with Octavio swearing that Antonio will never see Alma again, Lu wonders if Octavio will act this way in business, prompting Antonio to look for other suppliers, which gets back to Octavio, which ends in, we're finished.
emilio shoots this happy looking dog, tells his mother that the mean dog attacked him, Arnulfo consuls him, good job but you need to keep a lower profile, (we can only imagine what the smiling Arnulfo did to the kid's father so he wouldn't press charges)
I still haven’t seen yesterday’s episode, but from Sue’s comment, and what I saw in today’s epi, it’s obvious that Carmina outed Nina as Rita to Tifon and the family, and they are majorly ticked off at her. Can someone tell me how Carmina got her hands on the photos Deborah had?
Romy- I am also sick of Carm getting her way, but I guess the tn would end if things were different.
Other things that happened today… Thursday Recap, Part 1
- Family Tifon is in a major tizzy about Nina/Rita—she tricked and deceived them; she seduced Jorgito and Tifon; etc. Carm has also convinced them that Nina/Rita got Jorgito hooked on drugs. Jorgito arrives and does his usually yelling, snide comments, and starting fights with Carmina and Max, without actually clarifying anything! The result is that he looks like a violent, drug addicted madman, and Carmina ends up looking sympathetic. The only person urging calm and a listening ear is Aduato, who seems willing to give Nina the benefit of the doubt. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Aduato has a real sense for people.
-Tifon is destroyed. He goes to Nina to question her, but can’t believe her assertion that she didn’t plan all of this (befriending Ivana online, getting a job in the house, all the stuff with Carmina, getting Jorgito and Tifon to fall in love with her) to get revenge on him for killing her papa. She still doesn’t tell him the whole truth, which makes her denials weak.
-Tifon goes to Mama Lucinda to see if she can clarify who is lying and who he can trust between Nina and Carmina. She doesn’t take sides and she gives him NO useful info. It’s a wasted trip to Tiradero.
-Tifon falls so deep into depression that he begs Carmina to stay with him that night, and later begs her to return to the house and their marriage. She plays hard to get, but accepts. The family celebrates. Carmina is once again the queen of the house. Tifon shrinks back into the depressive has-been he had become before Nina arrived, and Leleco points this out. Leleco says that whatever the motive, Nina did him a lot of good, and he shouldn’t fall back into an unsatisfying life with Carmina. In this scene, Tifon was continuing to read one of Nina’s book suggestions, “The Idiot.” But then he throws down the book and walks away from the conversation with Leleco.
-Jorgito and Nina are sad and angry about Carmina and Max getting their way and fooling the family, but they are still united. Begonia decides to go back to Argentina.
-Jorgito meets with Deborah to thank her and to see how she’s doing. This friendship thing might just work out between them. Deborah tells him he’s starting to sound like Nina with this revenge obsession. She advises him to forget the revenge and just enjoy his life with Nina.
-Carlitos is having a great time in El Divino, even hooking up with Olenka and spending the night in her bed. Although they had a good time and have great chemistry, he couldn’t, uhm…seal the deal. He seems to have some sort of mental block that affects his performance if he’s not with one of his three wives. Olenka doesn’t get it, but she seems to have had a good time anyway.
-Meanwhile, the three wives and the three families find a hidden wall safe behind the couch in Vero’s apartment. They crack it open and find a document that shows Carlitos has $5 million in a Swiss bank account. Then they hear he’s hooked up with Olenka, so they head over to El Divino to claim their man and their shares of the money. A cat fight breaks out in Olenka’s/Monalisa’s house as the Wives drag Carlitos out.
-The Wives and the families decide to move into the little house in El Divino where Carlos is currently living. They all freak out over a chicken that gets into the kitchen, in a hilarious scene. There is so much arguing, talking over each other, and laughter—they are starting to look like Tifon’s family. Carlitos seems to love it.
-Tessalia says yes to being Darkson’s girlfriend for realzies. Big besos.
-The soccer scout comes again to watch the team practice. Roney does ok, nothing spectacular. But Leandro wows them. He gets selected to move up to the major leagues and the entire neighborhood gives him a hero’s farewell. Suelen looks like she may be thinking that she bet on the wrong horse/husband.
-Carmina may be happy to be back in the castle as the Queen, but Max is not happy with the old status quo. He finds that Carmina has stolen his $1 million that was hidden in the boat. He goes back to the house and smacks Carmina around, demanding the money back! He threatens that he, unlike Jorgito and Nina, WILL tell Tifon, everything! Oi, oi, oi!
Thanks, ladies, for the recaps and feedback. For Mondriana, it was a good episode. It started about 5 minutes early on my end so I'd missed most of her conversation with Ricardo. I loved the expression on Elena's face when she apologized to Marta...poor thing couldn't even fake it. Of course not apologizing would have essentially proved Ricardo right, so she had to do it. As far as the actress who plays Lorena is concerned, I've seen her in another novela and she was fine. I think the writers want us to see her weakness first and maybe once she realizes that its useless to try to protect the Evil Elena, she'll do the right thing.

one of the things that makes this novela so HOT is the theme song,
"Bailando" by Enrique Iglesias
here is a short version of the novela intro w/song, (at Telemundo52 where Selma on "En Otra Piel" works)

Vivi: Carmina dispatched Nilo to scare Debora into giving him the photos. She was alone at the theater stretching after a workout and he turned off all the lights. He brought along a friend who happens to be slow but useful. Nilo pretended to stab the friend to show he meant business. She had the photos in her locker and she turned them over. Then he locked her in the locker room. Jorgito came to her rescue.
AB has been quite choppy lately and I'm suspecting the Telemundo touch. GRRR!
Still watching and enjoying this. Love your comments and recaps Hombe and deb. I wish Camellia would start seperating the good guys and good bad guys from the Bab bad guys and lying cops. But I guess that may be the end of the show.
Bmc
Mondriana finds a thumb drive in Elena's closet and watches some of the video of the pervy judge beating up the prostitute on a computer that is also there. She wonders why Elena has this video. She takes the thumb drive, puts everything back where it was and leaves Elena's room barely missing being seen by Emiliana.
Camila and Elena go to Rodrigo's house. Elena apologizes to Marta and Ricardo for accusing them of forging Mónica's signature on the tuition check. Elena asks and Camila begs Marta to return to the house and Marta agrees. Camila and Ricardo have a moment alone but he blows his opportunity by badmouthing Elena and Ernesto.
Ernesto brings Gerardo the fake bottle of the super-expensive Larrea wine that Carlos/Raul had. He pours a glass for Gerardo saying that unlike what they are doing, adulterating Larrea wine, this is just plonk with a fancy label. He tells Gerardo that Carlos/Raul is sending them a message that if they don't participate in his plan to sell this wine in Mexico, he will do it on his own. Ernesto says that if they don't stop Carlos/Raul's idea for a side business, the jig will be up. Gerardo is only interested in finding out what's up with Mondriana but Ernesto points out that if he doesn't do something they will lose everything and he won't be able to run off with Mondriana. Gerardo agrees.
Emiliana finds Lorena conscious but still drunk. Mondriana comes in. Lorena begs Mondriana to help her control the impulses that are stronger than she is. Mondriana urges Lorena to go to a clinic but Lorena replies that she can't leave Camila and Emiliana alone and unprotected. Mondriana asks from whom the girls need protection. Lorena almost tells her but can't. Mondriana agrees to help Elena and they dump all the bottles of liquor in the house down the drain.
Jorge tells Selma that Lorena was a beautiful woman who was always trying new things. He reveals that Mónica kept in touch with him by postcards until Julián died. Selma asks him why he went all the way to Australia. He replies that he was so furious that his brother had won the only woman he had ever loved that he had to put a huge distance between them. Selma asks if that woman was Mónica and Julian admits that it was. Selma asks Jorge if he has made a decision about selling his land. He replies that the land means a lot to him and he has to think about it. Selma asks him not to say anything about the proposed sale to Emiliana and Camila. She says that she and Mondriana want it to be a surprise and the whole thing might seem a little strange to them. She assures him that Mondriana's and her intentions are good and that they are only trying to fix the terrible injustice that has been done to the girls. Jorge agrees.
Diego has gotten a calendar that shows a beach scene. He hangs it on the wall of his room and flashes back to the when he took Adriana to see the ocean for the first time.
Elena is returning from the bookstore in a taxi when she spots Rottweiler. She stops the cab, hops out in her short, short dress with her boobs hanging out and chews Rottweiler out for failing to kill Ricardo. [Have I mentioned how much I dislike that bandanna that Rottweiler wears? It looks like he is trying to hide a receding hairline.] If anyone deserved to be the victim of a gang it's Elena but nobody does anything to her. Maybe it's the aura of evil that she has. Rottweiler tells her that he can't do anything to Ricardo. Ricardo is protected by the other gang and anyway there is a truce and he has specifically agreed not to harm Ricardo or his family. Elena wants her money back but Rottweiler refuses. He made a good-faith attempt to kill Ricardo but it wasn't his fault that Rodrigo got in the way. He tells Elena to leave or his guys will have her for breakfast.
Jennifer and Gabriel seem to spend a lot of time together in public for a couple whose romance is supposed to be a secret. And, sure enough, we see someone watching them kissing.
Mondriana copies the contents of the thumb driver onto her computer and then returns the thumb drive to Elena's room. Camila catches her coming out of Elena's room. Mondriana says that she was looking for Lorena who has hit the bottle again. Mondriana tells Camila what she has done to help and urges Camila and Elena to help Lorena. Camila coldly tells her to focus on her job and not family matters.
Valeria is all tarted up for her dinner with Diego but she is nervous, of course.
Gerardo goes to see the pervy judge who is in his campaign headquarters. Gerardo warns him that if he doesn't get his thug Carlos/Raul out of the winery, he will lose the election and the money. The judge promises to control his guy.
At Ernesto's, Elena is venting her fury at having to apologize to Marta and Ricardo. She grabs a knife and describes how different things will be when she has Mónica's money and she and Gerardo announce their engagement. She will send her mother to the worst mental hospital there is. Emiliana will be sent to a military school for adolescents and Camila... Ernesto says that he will take care of Camila. Elena tells him to get busy.
Emiliana is ecstatic at the return of Marta to the house.
Elena drags Gerardo off to the cabaña as he arrives home. She tells him that she has a plan for getting rid of the rest of the irritating people in the house so they can be alone together.
Mondriana looks at the contents of the flash drive and sees pictures of Gerardo posing romantically with a bunch of different women. She is impactada.
Bonelz, thank you.
Things are really getting twisted here, as jealousy, betrayal and revenge are causing all our characters to go on a collision course, whether it's good for them or not!
Allison gets scared, doesn't leave in the middle of the night. The next day, though, she has a talk with Arnulfo. He knows she wants to kill Camelia. He does, too, and he knows where Camelia is. He'll tell her, if she agrees to leave her boy here as security. She agrees. But the next day, she picks up Emi at school, and heads for the bus station. Destination: Guadalajara.
Most of the busses and trucks in Tijuana are not going anywhere. Why? Arnulfo is flexing his muscles, has told this big tough guy, who's in charge of most of the city's transport, to stop all movement, until further notice. Arnulfo hints that with La Nacha gone, Arnie's in charge, and people had better line up behind him.
Benigno goes to a political lunch with the Governor. There, he meets Narsciso, a young, fairly good looking guy, who is a political "advisor". The two hit it off, and I think Narciso may be gay. Certainly Benigno is hoping he is, as he looks smitten.
Facundo is still hoping to leave with Camelia for their new life. Ortiz and McQueen have them both under observation. Cami wants to go, and the music when she and Facundo kiss or make love is awesome. But romance may not be in the cards, as she has one last thing to do (which she doesn't tell Facundo). She's supposed to take Alma to the boarding house (I think it's in Guadalajara), and when Antonio arrives, kill him.
Antonio's going to the boarding house, too, with Alacran. Lu thinks it's a trap. She's so upset about that, and about the fact that Antonio still wants to recover Camelia, that she accuses Antonio of preferring Rosaura over her, and says she just might not be here when he gets back! Not the best way to make Tony happy.
At the end of the episode, Facundo has packed his suitcase, and is waiting at the crossroads for Camelia. And here she comes. But she's in a truck, with Alma, being driven by one of Octavio's henchman. And there she goes, riding away, leaving him kicking the dust, heading for the boarding house, where all hell is probably going to break loose!
I was scratching my head through most of this show, but wow Hombre, you sure can tell a good story!
and what a scene when Camelia and Alma, with armed guard, are driven past Facundo, standing quietly alone in the dust with his suitcase, off to what may be their doomsday, and how about the flashbacks where Camelia shot Emilio seven times, but wait, it's Facundo this time, and her police file with all of the horrible crime pictures that Facundo has, he turns it over to Qrtiz, who now has the case.
(and I have been wondering if emilio will meet Alma).
thanks Bmc, glad you are still with us, I keep reminding myself that this is a legend, and I keep wondering if legends end well.
I meant the boarding school, not the boarding house.
It was also interesting that even though Allison hates Arnulfo, since he killed Aaron, she'll still go along with him to get revenge for Emilio's death.
We're now in últimas semanas!
Thanks Jean!
I was thinking Monica should have kept the flash drive, (was that their only copy), and she wasn't so careful returning it, leaving the ladder out.
after "La Patrona", where Jorge Luis Pila's character continually failed to act at critical times I'm really resisting the idea that Geraldo may love Monica.
I have been under the weather and wasn't able to do the daily recaps. I want to thank Vivi, Sue 455 and Jean for keeping the recaps coming. They really helped me catch up. I watched today, no notes so will do this from memory, I am feeling much more like myself.
Part I
Max beats Carm with a belt, same as Nilo did when he was a kid and demands that money in 48 hours or else!
Suelen and Roni separate. She tries to move in with Leandro, but he isn't having it.
Mona Lisa and Ver go out to a fancy lunch and afterwards Mona Lisa takes Ver to a bus stop and tells her to take the bus.
Nilo steals the Tiradero kids money for himself. Later one of his boys is passed out and Pico takes him to Mama L.
Carm is grilled about her past with Max, which she avoids, same as Max. The point of this was, if Max was such a good friend of Genesio, how could that be? They avoid these questions.
Leleco talked to Jorigto and Jori tells Leleco that Max is his Papa and also Agatha's. Leleco of course doesn't believe it but something is stuck in his brain, hence the past of Carm and Max.
Leleco goes to visit Max on his yacht and commences with the 200 questions. How is it he knows Carm when he was young at Tiradero? Max denies everything about Tiradero. Leleco warns Max that if he isn't telling the truth and hurts Ivana, then Leleco will kill him. Leleco also asked about friends, relatives, etc. Max denies having any.
Carm accuses Nina of having her kidnapped and that Nina has that moola. Everyone but Leleco and maybe Tifon don't believe her.
Carm and Muricy go and confront Nina at Jori's and Jori tells them that Carm is the evil baddy, and Tifon has to come and drag Carm and Muricy out of there. They accused Nina of all kinds of horrible things. Jori even says the kidnap plot was all engineered by Carm. They all think Jori is crazy.
Later at home Carm insists it was Nina that engineered the kidnap. It's funny cause Aduato can't understand what autosquestro is. They have to explain it to him. He finally gets it. Carm fakes hysteria as usual and goes off. Leleco talks to Tifon and tells him about some of his talk with Jori. Tifon and Leleco talk about the kidnap and Leleco's grey cells are working here. Tifon thinks about the note warning of the kidnap and feels Nina sent that note as a warning about the kidnap, but that she didn't kidnap anyone. Leleco wants to tell him the rest of what Jori said, but can't cause Carm comes back in the room.
Max threatens Carm again about getting him his money back.
Nilo finds out that Nina and Jori are going to California and Nilo goes and tells that to Carm. Of course she is gonna stop it. Interesting that Nilo said Carm loves no one but Jori. Carm has a plan.
Romy- ITA! We have been watching Nina dig her own grave for a while now. She should be grateful that she at least still has Jorgito on her side. She was silly and naive to think she could beat Carmina at this game, especially when she and Carmina know Nina is totally bluffing about revealing Carmina's secrets to the family. What was the point?!
Part II
Carm tells Tifon and familia that Nina is taking Jori out of the country to California. Tifon wants to know how she knows this. She says she saw something on the computer about tickets, yadda, yadda and that's how she knows. Muricy wants to call the cops, but Tifon stops her, Jori is an adult and can do what he wants. While Carm and Muricy were at Jori and Nina's Carm noticed Nina's bag.
Carm meets with Lucio, seems he's her new boy toy, and plans a switch of bags with him, in other words he is to switch this identical bag with Nina's.
Max and Carm are through. They are in the sauna when Leleco comes in and asks why they are there together. They hem and haw and squeak out of that. Things are so not good with Max and Carm. It's like shark eat shark. Leleco isn't buying their excuses either.
After the meet with Lucio, Carm comes home and says she called Zenon, that cop friend of Tifon's, that Nina has the kidnap money and has it in her bag. Zenon called a Fed Cop friend of his and is going to the airport. Tifon wants this craziness to stop. Carm tells him it's too late, so off to the airport they go. Nina and Jori are in line and she's got her bag, too bad she didn't have her hand on it, cause Lucio comes up behind her, grabs the bag and places an identical one right behind her. They give their passports and are detained to be searched in a room.
Tifon and Carm meet Zenon at the airport and Tifon tries to get this to stop, but it's too late.
Nina's bag is searched, and right under a towel on the top, is a whole lot of moola, oi, oi, oi!
Romy and Vivi:
I so agree with what you both said, what was Nina's plan for? I think in her eagerness to not hurt Tifon and Ivana and Agatha, she kind of took the high road so to speak, not all the time mind, but most of the time. She should have listened to Jori and left those pics at the bank they were safe there. Too bad she trusted Baldo too, and told everyone where that last set of pics were. Now she has no more proof. Even Tifon asked her, and she doesn't have any. She didn't think that far ahead.
If I were Carm though, I'd watch myself. Seems Max is a bit of a loose cannon now and until/unless he gets that money back he's going to tell Tifon and familia something. Just for revenge. He is so sick of Carm and her taking all the moola all the time, he never got a cent. Funny how he and Nina didn't hide stuff very well.
I am liking that Leleco isn't letting this go. He wants to find stuff out and he's going to keep doing it, I think, until he gets some answers. Same with Tifon, he rejected Carm again this epi, as in no booty, so why was that? I think he has some doubts too. I want Leleco to keep going, like say get on the sly DNA from Max, get Jori to give his and see what is what! That would be a way of getting proof that Jori is Max's, same with Agatha and proof that Jori isn't lying. I think Nina is really screwed here until something more comes to light. No one believes her, they all think she turned Jori into a drug addict and that's he's now crazy.
I am so sick of Carm getting away with everything with her hysterics along with Muricy. Carm just thrives on all this drama centered around her. I can't wait for her downfall!
Oí Oí Oí! I was so hoping that Carmina's plan wouldn't work. Lucio isn't that smart but, of course, we can't have Nina and Jorge leave Rio.
But Carmina is running out of string. Leleco is on her trail and Tifón has doubts, too. Calling the police to stop Nina in the airport seems pretty over the top just for a concerned mother. Was the kidnap money marked? If not, how would anyone know whose money it was? I know that you are not supposed to carry large amounts of cash out of the country but that is different than kidnapping.
On a lighter note, I loved the scene were Verónica tried out her "how to live in high society" lesson on Monalisa and all she got for it was a lesson on how to take the bus.
Iran, Débora and the kids dancing were cute, too.
I am so ready for the tide to turn against Carmina and Max!!
and so the stage is set,
all are on a collision course to meet at Alma's new boarding school.
Camelia pleads her case (I didn't remember this), she thinks Antonio killed her father and is the reason she was on the run with her mother, he also sent Emilio to her, (so this whole story is based on a lie) BUT, she is "not a hired gun", Octavio replies, "who said I was going to pay you", put a bullet in his head or I will turn you over to agent McQueen.
(and her gun is just like the one she used to shoot Emilio, 7 times)
Facundo pleads his case, as Camelia says she has one last thing to do, but isn't Octavio one of the things you want to get away from, let's leave now.
Alma pleads her case to Camelia, take me home, including one last time whispered into Camelia's ear before they head out the door.
(such a moving scene, Facundo standing there as Camelia drives by)
Capt. Ortiz is following Facundo while agent McQueen has Octavio's place staked out keeping an eye on Camelia. (for two straight cops they are just as scary as everyone else).
Antonio fears that something bad will happen to Alma, voices his regrets over losing Camelia, which touches Lu's big nerve, she can't have kids and wonders if Antonio regrets going with her over Rosaura, Antonio, over Lu's bad feelings, leaves to get Alma with Alacran.
(is everyone having Alma's dreams)
the whole town is shut down with the truck driver strike, the stores are empty, but so far the buses are still running, Alison is getting wise to Arnulfo's deals which left Aaron dead, so she takes emilio with her to find Camelia.
meanwhile, the Governor takes Benigno to an exclusive club where all of the powerful men on of northern Mexico go, he looks so out of place, (the Governor may be moving up to Secretary of the Interior and is grooming Benigno to take his place) where he meets a smooth lobbyist, a facilitator, but what will this new guy do with the information once he learns Benigno is gay.
Thanks, Jean, terrific recap!
The last scene was fabulous. I can hardly wait until tonight. Mondriana only had a suspicion about Gerardo based on what Ricardo planted in her head. But, after seeing that catalog of him romancing over 40, wealthy looking ladies, I think their romance is over.
Whew, I was very glad Rottweiler told Elena to take a flying leap. When she jumped out of the taxi to confront him, I thought she’d convince him to try again. Loved “if anyone deserved to be the victim of a gang, it’s Elena”. How very true!
Judge Pervo is going to have a hard time calling off his dog (Carlos) since said canine also knows about his proclivities for S&M (actually all S and no M since the victims aren’t wishing to be beaten) with underage girls.
I hope the writers go with Marta returning to Rodrigo. I really like the guy and Marta certainly feels something for him, although she can’t quite risk trusting him again.
Another scene with dumb Lorena transpires. She certainly won’t rat out her evil daughter until the last week. That was a chilling scene where Elena revealed her plans for her mother and her cousins to Ernesto. It seems to me that she reveals more of her malice to Ernesto, perhaps sensing that Gerardo would be put off. But then we have yet to see the scene at the Lake House where Elena finishes what she started to say last night.
I’m not that crazy about Jorge. Something about the guy bothers me. I thought he’d be sort of a white knight, and I don’t really think he’ll turn out to be a complete baddie, but his sort of superior attitude about Mondi doesn’t set well. [I’m rich and she ain’t, so OK to talk disparagingly about her.]
Please, please writers. Don’t show us another Rottweiler gang beat-down of Gabriel. I didn’t like him much at first, but the actor has won me over. And poor Jennifer is so happy being with him.
A while ago someone speculated that Carlos might work with Rottweiler's gang. Its seems like a possibility now because Elena can use Carlos to get her money back. This could put not only Val & Maite in danger but Jennifer n Eileen as well.
I'm also thinking that now that she's ready for war, Monica will be outed as Gerardos lover instead of Elena.

Also, i think it would be best for everyone if Jorge gave the land to his nieces instead of Monica. It would be a nice gesture towards establishing a relationship. And perhaps he'll be the person who helps Lorena..

All the plot lines are definitely twisting and turning now. I wonder if Alma and her ability to forecast will put her in a position to help or save Antonio and or Camellia when Tony, Alma, Allison and Camellia cross paths. I wonder if Alma knows if Camellia is Tony's daughter. More than anyone, I want Faucundo to have a happy ending. Maybe a little romance for Benny.

part 1
Guadalajara, Jalisco
the pieces on our chess board have all been moved causing everyone to rethink their strategies.
Camelia, with Alma, arrive at the Santa Patricia boarding school, famous for turning young girls into "outstanding wives and mothers", not quite what Alma was looking for.
capt. Ortiz and agent McQueen arrive to take Camelia into custody, (for extradition to U.S. where she is wanted for murder), but decide to wait and grab her when she leaves, a sharp eyed Camelia sees them outside.
Camelia, with the promise of more cash, decides to spend the night, to help ease Alma into the school, where no one is given special favors.
Alison with the whiny emilio arrive in town, get a cheap room, where she locks him inside as she goes looking for Camelia.
McQueen swings by the office warehouse to see Facundo, he says they are going to take Camelia into custody, and we don't want any surprises.
Antonio (one of the most wanted men in Mexico) arrives at the school with Alacran, Ortiz calls for reinforcements.
Facundo tells McQueen he will help, Ortiz is not so sure.
Camelia discovers Antonio is there, and calls Octavio (who just gets done chewing out Toni for wanting Daniela's Tequila business), and why haven't you killed him yet he wants to know, what in front of all of these girls, Camelia replies, do it or your dead, he says.
as Octavio hangs up the phone here comes Alison fighting her way into his house, if you are smart you will leave the way you came, he says, she's not and he has her thrown out.
[Hilda tells Arnulfo earlier, you always have to keep an eye on Alison because she is always messing things up, she's the queen of that]
the young girls are all in the chapel so the swat team decides to go in.
Octavio arrives at the school, upping the stakes, soon followed unnoticed by Alison in a cab.
Camelia gets the drop on Alacran outside where she will wait for Antonio and they will all go for a little ride, but the police get the drop on them, Camelia runs back inside while Alacran guns them down,
where she runs into Facundo, who is still working on plan 3, let's leave right now, but ends up looking down Camelia's gun barrel, she has a job to do, she won't spend the rest of her life running from Antonio Treviño.
Antonio gets to meet privately with Alma, she explains that Octavio killed her parents and she is afraid he will kill her, that's why she poisoned him, no, no, no, a fatherly Antonio patiently explains, your dreams have misled you this time, your parents were killed by their Colombian enemies, Octavio saved you, got you out of there.
he promises to take her back to the ranch, right now, but what about Camelia, Alma says, what? she's here, he wants to know.
part 2
elsewhere,
our comedy team (Arulfo, Hilda, Jacinto) ponders the turkey on their doorstep, and give Jacinto some to see if it's poisoned, it can't be a gift, Hilda says, we have no friends.
the strike is going bad/good, the drivers are being threatened with being fired and blacklisted, but the stores are empty, so the owners will have to do something, their henchman has come for more money, Arulfo questions him about C. Olvera, the name on the turkey's card, he plays dumb till Arnulfo gets out his gun, apparently C.O. is like a ghost, no one has ever seen him, but he has powerful contacts with the law and government, and he tells all that he knows,,, but you didn't hear it from me.
and so Arnulfo and company find themselves at a warehouse, filled with prescription drugs, (Anfetamina, Diazepam) worth millions, where Concepcion Olvera (CuQiuis) has arranged a reception for them, with guns, and cookies made with butter, did you know that there is scientific proof the margarine tastes like plastic, she adds.
she knows Hilda well, responsible for getting half of the Mexican laborers into the U.S., and the guy with the messed up face, Arnulfo, is this your errand boy?
her business is selling pills, "that make the world seem better than it is", and to help all of the boys and girls get their drugs without all of the hassles.
and what does she want, she wants the strike to be over in 24 hours, as she leaves our trio with her armed guards, she has a card game to go to with the governor's wife, and Jacinto has some more cookies.
.......................................
Benigno calls the governor and wiggles his way into an invitation to the banquet, and will Narciso be there, who? oh yes, but as the Governor hangs up we see Narciso sitting behind him, the Governor calls him don Juan.
and at the banquet Benigno toasts to the pleasure of meeting Narciso, who changes it to just pleasure, and along comes the General Urdapilleta (who may be getting the job of Secretary of Defense), and how are the beautiful women in Badiraguato he asks. (what is Benigno getting into?)
Thank you SO much, Deb, yes, any time you do a recap is greatly appreciated, and you did a fine one!
Benigno really thinks Narciso is gay, and maybe he is, or maybe he's a trap set by the governor, or maybe he's just a straight guy, and Ben is gonna have a big letdown (wouldn't be the first time :)
I really like whenever Arnulfo gets put in his place, this time by Concepcion. There sure are a lot of powerful women in this show.
And what about all the characters at the boarding school, Facundo, Camelia, Antonio, Alma, Allison, Octavio, Ortiz and McQueen? Monday should be wild!
Jean:
I can't recall if that money was marked or not. I don't know if Zenon did that or not before the drop off. All I remember is that it was a specific amount. I think maybe this is what Carm is doing, I don't know. I too am so ready for the downfall of Max and Carm. They have gotten away with far too much, and you are right about Carm, Tifon also thought she went way overboard. I think Carm might have overstepped this time. I can't wait to find out!
Madeleine: We found out in today's episode that the money was marked and some of the marked money was in the money that Lucio planted on Nina.
¡Oí Oí Oí!
Well, Nina is totally screwed now. This is what happens when you go after the big boys, and don't bring your biggest weapons, or refuse to use them (until it's too late).
