De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #58 and #59(ish) 5/20/14
Mostly in order. Sort-of kind-of.
De que se cayó, se cayó
Irene is launching her new line of clothing for Caprico: Eskenda. So exciting!! Last minute adjustments are being made and pep talks are being said.
Chato arrives in a tacky suit and in tacky transportation.
Diana takes a cold shower since Oliverio forgot to pay his gas bill. After getting dressed, she sees the headline about the launch and rushes out.
Alonso makes an on the sly visit to Irene backstage.
Natalia (Nat) suggests that the seamstress take up Brigitte's (Brat) dress a few centimeters. Brat likes the length and later rips out the hem.
Carmen is seated next to Vicente (Grumps) and lets him have it when he makes some snide remarks about the poor and her family. Eleazar (El) drags her away before she gets herself into too much trouble. He reminds her that Grumps owns Caprico/Eskenda.
The show begins. Brat busts her azz. Irma sends Rod the video. He laughs and says it needs to be on the internet.
Brat only has a bad sprain. The show director (who I am naming "Jean Marie") is worried. Who will take Brat's place? Irene asks Natalia to take over. She's the same size as Brat. Brat silently begs Nat to say no. Nat says yes. They get Nat ready. The show must go on!!!
Meanwhile outside, Karina has seen Diana speed by in her red car. Karina calls Alina who insists Diana is in Los Cabos. Karina then tries to make the event organizers that Diego's wife is there. They says something about "you again" and toss her out.
Irene lends Alonso's necklace to Nat for luck. Carmen asks Brat if she want to go out to the audience to watch and Brat yells at Carmen.
Nat is a hit!
Alberto brings Brat flowers. She pouts and asks him to take her home.
De que no sobrevivió, no sobrevivió
After the show, Nat returns the necklace to Irene. She enjoyed the modeling, but she'll stick to design. She thanks Irene for having faith in her. Carmen says good-bye. Irene picks up the jealousy vibe.
Rod slobbers over the pics of Nat that Irma sent.
Diana is lying in wait. Diego's car is parked across the street. Nat walks across the street. Diana's leadfoot activates, but Diego is able to pull Nat to safety. Diana is not so lucky. She loses control of the car. The airbag goes off, but it doesn't help. Diana is rushed to the hospital. Nat shakes and keeps saying Diana wanted to kill her. Karina calls Alina and tells her about the accident.
Irma calls Rod and tells him Diana is on the way to the hospital where he's staying. He tells her to get her little nurse duds on and head for the emergency room.
At the hospital, Diana is rushed to surgery. She doesn't make it. Diego asks about the baby. The doctor informs him there was no baby. Alonso correctly guesses she lost it earlier, but never told anyone.
The Garcias go home and tell Brat about the accident. Chato says something stupid. Brat says something bitchy.
Irma tells Rod that his sister in law died and mentions Nat is at the hospital. He wants to see her, but Irma stops him. Another nurse comes in and she and Irma have lines about why Irma is there on her night off and liking a patient too much. After the nurse leaves, Irma questions Rod about his obsession with Natalia. She thinks he still loves Nat. He says she was HIS. He lets Irma know that he appreciates what she's done, but that's it.
Alina asks Diego to help her with the funeral.
De que se quejó, se quejó
The next day, Brat reads about the show. Her name isn't even mention in the article. She thinks if Natalia had died, Diego would be free for the groping.
Things get worse when she goes online and sees that the video of her fall has been uploaded.
Nat comes in and tells Brat about all the congratulatory calls they got at work that day. She's excited since it means the orders are rolling in. All Brat has to say is that Nat stole her place and Nat says it wasn't her fault. Brat thinks Nat has a perfect life, but TWO people had to die for her happiness. Brat hopes Nat's conscience is at peace with that.
De que se escapó, se escapó
Rod tells Irma to bring him some street clothes. I get the lab coat, but the hat?
Outside Nat's apartment, Diego tells Nat that Grumps wants to give her another chance and to get to know her. They smooch and Rod sees. She bumps into him as she goes in, but she doesn't see his face. Chato also sees him and calls out to his "yerno". Chato wonders why "Diego" left on a micro. Rod wonders who the guy is calling him "yerno." A passenger on the bus asks for medical advice.
De que se casan, se casan
Part I
Diego calls Alberto to double check that he can get married now that, you know, Diana is dead. Alberto can't believe Diego is acting like nothing happened.
Nat meets with Grumps. She says he can even investigate her if he wants. She's a decent person. She thanks him for giving her another chance.
Diego takes Nat to dinner and asks if she wants to marry him. She says yes. The dinner is interrupted by a phone call from El.
De que se casan, se casan
Part II
Chato has brought the check making it possible for Carmen to buy the apartment. Was Lupita's name also put on the paperwork?
After the real estate office, Carmen and Chato go home and start discussing the wedding. I'm thinking she wants a French theme. He wants something a little more Mexican (which I assume means less expensive.) El comes by and tells her that everything is settled and she can open the fonda again. I miss some Chato lines, but the next thing you know Chato is announcing that he and Carmen will marry on Saturday and Carmen just goes along with it.
El goes upstairs to tell Luz (or does she live downstairs?) She's as flummoxed as Viewerville is. She asks El not to pull the same sort of stunt he did when Chato asked for Carmen's hand. El promises not to do anything. They head up the down staircase (or down the up staircase.)
It's a pretty miserable engagement party. Poor El tries to lighten the mood. El calls Natalia and tells her her mom is getting married on Saturday. Carmen confirms it.
Abdul, Paolo and Lupita pow wow.
Chato gets drunk and tries to dance with Carmen. El cuts in and they dance together. HAWT. Serious chemistry between these two. Too bad El can't TELL CARMEN HOW HE FEELS!!! He just says Adios in a fraught with meaning kind of way.
De que harán más estudios, harán más estudios
The doctor brings another specialist into Rod's room. They want to do some more studies. It's odd that Rod has been gaining weight despite the coma. They will call the family for consent.
Irma tries to convince the doctors not to do the tests. Rod is not some lab rabbit. The doctors ignore her. After they leave, Rod tells her to call his family and to make sure they don't give their consent.
The doctor discusses Irma with the other nurse. They decide she needs to be taken off of Rod duty (*snort*) and moved to pediatrics. When they tell Irma the news, she begs not to be moved which really just confirms they were right.
Irma later calls Diego. They meet and she pleads Rod's case. She thinks the testing will just make him suffer. Diego disagrees and tell her he will give his consent for the tests.
When Rod asks her to help him out, her only solution seems to put him back in a coma.
The stuff left over:
- Abdul and Paolo threaten to go live somewhere else. They are disappointed that Carmen doesn't seem to react to that.
- Natalia tells Carmen Diego wants to get married in a month. Carmen thinks that's too soon. A "pot calling the kettle black" discussion follows.
- El drowns his sorrows with Alonso
Avances
Nat finally finds out about Rod.
Labels: te-quiero
Sara & Kat, I'm impactada as well about Diana's death. I just knew she was going to join forces with Rod in the hospital. Well there is at least one baddie gone.
I'm quite disgusted about Carmen marrying Chato. No beanie in the world makes Chato a better pick than El.
Thanks Alex for confirming what we had been thinking about the "edits." First they insult us with double episodes and then they edit those episodes.
(Zacatillo was double-houred in the summer and daytimed which made me think, "It's ending so soon?". La Mujer del Vendaval was rather stretched out when it could have been double-houred which I wouldn't have minded. I know it was doubled after Mentir Para Vivir ended but for a week only then come DQTQTQ and here we are.)
Diego-Watch your back bro (literally and seriously what did you do to deserve to witness Chato's...you know LOL)
Natalia-First off, you go girl, flaunt it! And though you don't know it, you were in the presence of the devil otherwise known as RodFace once again.
Diana- You gave Bloody Mary a run for her money.
Brat'Git- I don't know what amazed me more- you throwing the laptop the way you did or my nephew's reaction to it (He straight up called her a brat)
Carmen and Eleazar-Save the Last Dance (for a while)
Chato- Don't quit your day job!
RodFace-I guess with Di. out of the picture, the main antagonist role is up for grabs (Villain Soapbox time!)
(So RodFace and Brat'Git are shaping up to avenge Di.
Karina will need to turn the bitch switch up a few notches. We're talking Marcelash from PSMA right?
Krusty Krab doesn't seem as remotely menacing as Sara from QE and I'm assuming is just comic relief and there to establish a Romeo and Juliet romance for Abdul and one of her Mexicanime waitresses.
Chato...Chato? I'm in the minority here but does anyone see him with Krusty Krab? Either as accomplices or sweethearts but I feel he will fight for Carmen if she pulls any funny business.
BTW Whatever happened to Lisardo's villain here? Was he locked up complete with discarded key for good early in the game?
Only other villain I see is Mara's mom who we heard is abusive and with that scar she left on Mara, I see a big anvil coming. I hope Carmen and Eleazar step in to put her in her place.
Andres isn't evil per say but I'm getting a Gaston from Beauty and the Best vibe from him.
Grumps' only menacing moment to me is when he was thought bubbling about Irene and Diego terminando en la ruina. His tone was as if he had something up his sleeve but after his softening up to Nat this night, I see redemption for him and that back then he was just spitting venom like usual.
Off my soapbox LOL)
Will comment some more later.
I can see Brat and Rod teaming up.
If Uni is going to show two hour episodes the least they can do is let us see everything. I know I keep harping, but it really pithes me off. Uni is just insulting to their viewers...excuse me, the viewers of anything but LQLVMR or QPob. *grumblegrumble*
Love the way you can compress a whole "weltanschaung" into just one delicious sentence. Yes, everything about Chato, his life, his motivation, his actions, his lies, his abandonment, his cheating, his equal opportunity lust...tacky, tacky, tacky. Please El, ride to the rescue!
Can't manage two straight hours of this but so sorry I missed the hot chemistry of El and Carmen dancing. Maybe I can find it on youtube later.
But first hour, liked the way Carmen stood up to Grumps, even if it wasn't tactful or wise, given that he's the owner. But he does need someone to tell him his "cuatro verdades". Rosa sure isn't going to do it.
Also loved this sentence "She thinks if Natalia had died, Diego would be freed for the groping".
Can't decide if Brat wants Diego because he's Natalia's, or just because he's rich. Guess both are powerful motivations for this pathologically envious character.
The telenovela focus on blood and gore really puts me off. Next thing you know, they'll be showing us autopsies. Is this a Latino thing or are US shows as gory? I don't watch any, other than the news, so haven't kept up with current drama standards.
Thanks for the delightful and entertaining recap, Sara. And by all means, email Univision. Though I imagine, since this telenovela is EXTREMELY long, that they will continue editing, hacking and cutting. Such is life.
I've even contemplated an e-mail to Televisa. Maybe folks wouldn't look for online episodes if they could actually watch the whole episode on TV.
And US shows are even more bloody and gross. Hubs and I stopped watching Bones for that reason.
More horse beating, but I'm still flabbergasted that Diana went out so early and with so little fanfare. No funeral?
Corazon-- I loved "Carmen and Eleazar-Save the Last Dance (for a while)".
Karen-Uni's ratings have been steadily declining. I don't know if it's because the latest crop of TNs have been lackluster or because folks have gotten tired of Uni's Lunacy.
Thanks so much Sara. Tonight's episode is the only one I'll get to watch all week, so this recap was really needed so that I'm not totally lost with all the changes tonight. I am still certain Carmen doesn't really intend to marry Chato.
By the way, I won't be able to watch or recap this Thursday.
"Chato arrives in a tacky suit and in tacky transportation" and "They decide she needs to be taken off of Rod duty (*snort*)" were among my many favorites.
Sara, I was totally flabbergasted by Diana's death. I had no idea at all that would happen at this early date. I'm a little afraid as to who will be tapped to take her place. Big shoes to fill, so to speak!
If Brig weren't so horrid, I might have felt badly that she not only fell and that Nat had not only the designer but the model glory. She is teetering on the line of evil, but again, because of Carmen, don't want her to go the dark side (more than she already has).
I cannot believe Carmen will actually marry Chato.
I share everyone's disappointment that this is being edited - shame on Uni for continuing to slice and dice.
Wonderful Sara. Thank you!
Diana
I forgot to ask earlier-does anyone want to hazard a guess as to why Grumps is wanting to get to know Natalia. He was not very nice about it so I assume it's not for honest reasons.
And wait a minute--if Grumps is keeping the truth about inheritance from Diego and Irene that means he's keeping it from Rod, too. Surely Rod would not be happy with that? Then again, he and Grumps could work together to keep Caprico to themselves. Just a guess.
Alex- I join Karen in thanking you for confirming the edits. PSMA edits combined 2 episodes. We're combining 3 for this one?! Wow. I know it's long, but still. Uni knew it was long. Could they not plan ahead? TdA was almost as long and I don't remember slice and dicing. Just two hour episodes.
Ok. I'll stop. I promise.
Natalia & Diego need to slow down, it's very tacky to get engaged right after the wife dies.
I noticed those!!! I almost put something about it in the recap, but felt like tacky considering she was "dying." LOL.
I was mad at Diego for kissing Natalia while all the photogs were snapping way, too. At that point he was still married and his wife was still alive. That was a very public display of affection he should have avoided.
It does seem that Rod is going to step up the evil to make up for Diana's departure. Can the Great Misunderstanding please be resolved before that happens? I can't believe Nat and Diego are going to get married and she STILL doesn't know he has a twin brother in a coma. I'm willing to accept many things for the sake of the story, but the writers are REALLY pushing it with this storyline. They should have at least made Diego estranged from Rod. That would at least explain why he never talks about him to others. But he loves his brother and visits him often. There is no reason why he wouldn't have mentioned him to Nat.
Chato had some funny dance moves.
I agree, Diego & Nat haven't been very discrete, very poor taste.
Brat is so jealous of Nat, she wants everything Nat has just to prove she can get it. She isn't really interested in Diego, it's just that he belongs to Nat. Too bad she doesn't concentrate on her own life. Has she ever smiled? As someone said, wait 'til she finds out Nat's real family is wealthy.
I think Grumps is being kind of decent to Nat 'cause he has that nieta thing in the back of his mind.
If Uni wants to chop episodes why didn't the do better editing to begin with? Some of it leaves you scratching your head.
Sara, I'm with you on Grumps. He most likely has an ulterior motive that the genius's cut (sorry I can be passive aggressive in my comments as this is yet another tn I've enjoyed that's being chopped). If he's not telling Irene and Diego they're part owners, why would he now be nice to Nat. And thanks for the ratings info, it does serve them right that their numbers are falling.
Diana, from yesterday, the Krab stuff does seem like total filler.
Unless Uni cuts it.
A solid boring boyfriend who doesn't give her any of that. Why, it's just not fair!!!
When you're watching this show on a 50+ inch screen HDTV you can't help but notice Diana's huge pores. I hope the actress did something about that after the program aired.
They probably cut Diana's funeral because really...who would've attended besides Alina & Karina?
Diego already told Alina he'd help financially and that's it, so I take that to mean he wasn't attending the funeral.
If Diego didn't attend & he was her husband, I don't see Grumps, Irene, Alonso or Alberto attending either. And "primo" Oliverio is on the run.
Not much point in showing a funeral that only maybe 2 people attended.
Diana was not a nice person. She was an adulteress, attempted murderess & just plain annoying. However, consider this: your husband has been fairly nice to you until 4-5 months ago. Then a chick from his past shows up and he's ready to toss you out of the door. You'd be upset, too.
