De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #68/69 5/27/14

De que volvió a renunciar, volvió a renunciar.

Morales follows Irene and pulls her over. At the station, El asks Alonso if he's sure he wants to continue with whatever they've cooked up. Al is sure.

Brigitte and Karina continue to plot against Irene and Alonso.

Morales claims that a car matching Irene's has been reported as stolen. He inspects the car and calls it in. He wants to see the car's registration, but they aren't in the car. More comps show up. They keep talking about a 1028 and won't answer Irene's questions. They ask her to come to the station

Rod yells at Rosa and then calls a sketchy guy. Apparently Diego fired this guy for fraud, but Rod wants to hire him back. They will meet later.

Grumps comes looking for Irene. Nat covers for Irene. Bri realizes she's covering for Irene and Nat lets it slip that Irene is with Al. Bri decides to be proactive for Karina's sake.

Irene continues to argue and ask questions, but is ignored.

Bri stops by to visit Diego. Rosa thinks he won't see her. Bri insists he'll see HER. He does. They get it on. The blinds are never completely closed. Ever. After they erm...finish...Bri tells Rod about Irene and Alonso and Rod is pithed.

The police have taken Irene to a remote location and she is rightfully scared. Alonso comes out of a house. This is his dumbest idea. Ever. I am firmly team Tad now. I don't care about the stupid flaming heart Alonso lights (which of course gets out of hand and almost burns down the lawn.) I didn't even watch the reading of the stupid letter. Seriously. FF that crap. Does Al not read the news? Did he not think this plan might scare the hell out of Irene? But she forgives him anyway!!!!!!!!!! I didn't think his plan was cute.

Meanwhile, Nat is trying to get in touch with Irene or Al so she can warn him about the very angry Diego. She even asks Bri for Alberto's number. Bri thinks Nat should mind her own business. Nat tells her that Diego is mad because Irene and Al are dating. Bri acts like she's surprised and gives Nat Alberto's number. Nat tells Alberto he has to do something! Alberto calls Rod and tells him it's Irene and Al's business. Rod hangs up on him. He bangs on Al's door and yells a bit.

I know I already gave it away, but Al continues to try and make up with Irene. He's standing outside in the cold, and she's enjoying all the food he bought for their reunion. She calls him an idiot. Yup. When she finally lets him in and they get nekkid and snuggly, Al asks if it's true her feelings for Tad have been reignited. She assures him that she just said those things out of anger.

Rod yells at Rosa some more and tells her to get Nat in his office. He yells at Nat about knowing about Al and Irene. He calls Nat an alcahueta. She defends Irene and Al. Nat says she's can't be with a guy like Rod (who she thinks is Diego.) When Bri finds out about the break up, she and her thought bubble are very happy.

After the edited opening credits (really, Univsion?) There's a stupid scene with two cops and El. I didn't catch a word.

Irma and the Doc dine. Later they get it on. The next morning she calls Rod and tells him he will have to give Diego his coma dose.

Irene and Alonso decide not to hide their relationship anymore.

Rod heads home and after getting a brief report from Grumps about some big order, he tells Grumps about Irene and Al. Grumps explodes. He blames Diego since it was his idea for Alonso be her therapist. Grumps is going to give them a piece of he mind and Rod is in complete agreement. Grumps is glad they are on the same page. He feels so close to Diego...like he used to feel with Rodrigo.

Diego (the real one) snores and opens his eyes and a nurse sees. This would be great if Rod hadn't arrived. He tells her it's nothing. It's happened before and it's just reflex. The nurse leaves Rod alone with his brother victim. Diego is awake enough to recognize Rod but assumes he's dreaming. No, Rod says he's his worst nightmare. Diego asks what he's doing in the hospital. They argue about who Nat belongs to. She's mine! No, she's MINE. Rod goes so far as to tell Diego he made Nat his and she was quite a bombshell for a pueblerina. He puts a pillow over Diego's face and punches him and administers the coma dose.

A rep from some fabric company comes to ask Nat about an order. He needs to know yesterday. She tries to call Irene and Diego. Irene is out of the call area and Rod is busy talking to that sketchy guy about embezzlement and percentages. I'm pretty sure they are going to use the factory that Caprico is constructing as the front. Run up costs blah blah (feel free to expand on this or correct me.) Since the company rep needs and answer and YA, Nat calls Grumps and he authorizes the purchase.

Grumps hangs up with Nat and starts grumbling about her irresponsibility. Irene enters soon after and Grumps starts in on her. Al jumps to her rescue. They both stand up to Grumps and defend their relationship. Irene tells Grumps she's moving out of the house. She goes to pack and Grumps takes the opportunity to sow some seeds of doubt. Irene has always been flighty and unable to really commit.

Rod finds out that Grumps authorized that purchase and this is going to screw up his embezzlement plans. He calls Grumps. Grumps explains that Nat said it was urgent and the best course of action. Rod starts yelling about listening to a mere "pueblerina" and Nat overhears him. Rod keeps digging a hole and talks about Nat not really knowing about business. What woman does? Nat is pithed. She can't believe he treated her with such desprecio. "Not desprecio" says Rod "..the truth." Nat reminds him how supportive he used to be. Rod says sewing and business are very different. Nat gives back the ring. Go girl. Rod calls to cancel the order.

Nat packs her things and quits. Again. Bri heads straight for Diego's office to find out where she now stands with Diego. She slimes on him and they almost get it on, but Rosa interrupts. Go Rosa! Rod tells her to knock. Embarrassed, she leaves. Bri tells Rod about Nat being a "recogida" and that her mom just took her out of pity, but Bri hates that Nat is her mother's favorite. She pushes the "where do I stand" issue again. Rod tells her she's Nada to him.

Irene and Al are on the way to his apartment. She's upset that Lala laughed at the idea of Irene and Al together. She asks Al to take her to Caprico.

Nat goes to Padre Juancho and tells him about the breakup.

Bri is back in the workroom playing solitaire on the computer. One of the seamstresses wants to talk to Nat about a sewing issue and Bri tells her that BRI is the new boss. Irene hears this.

Al goes to see Diego and gets punched for his trouble. Rod gets very violent. Irene breaks up the one-sided fight and says "You aren't Diego!!" Which would be great if she didn't follow it up with a lame "you just aren't acting like yourself." (For a split second I really thought she had figured it out.)

Nat is saying much the same to Padre Juancho. Diego just isn't himself. It's like he's the same violent jerk he was in Tuxpan.

Rod insists Al is just taking advantage of Irene and she slaps him.

Nat explains to Padre Juancho that the things Diego said were horrible and whether from a boyfriend or boss they were inexcusable. Padre Juancho tells her not to make quick decisions and to talk to Irene. Nat calls her and they agree to meet at Al's apartment.

Bri and Rod are at a bar. Alberto calls to ask her out and she turns him down.

The stupid stuff (may or may not be important)

  • Carmen, Abdul, Angela and Toño work to get the fonda ready. Angela brings a good luck Chinese cat. Padre Juancho will bless the fonda as well.
  • Bri calls Alberto and badmouths Irene. Alberto is team Irene/Al and thinks Bri should just leave them alone. There are lots of arguments about Irene and Al.
  • Kimberly and her mother cook up this My-mother-is dying (hyphens or quotation marks? Grammar nerds weigh in) scam thinking that it will get El to marry Kimberly. Morales falls for it. El, thankfully, does not. Kimberly tells El it's a heart condition, but Mom tells Morales it's pancreatic cancer.  Kimberly ain't giving up so easy. She's got to get Carmen Garcia out of the picture.
  • The neighborhood ladies let Carmen know some dude is looking for Paolo.
  • Paolo meets up with the punks and unintelligible things are said. They give him a ride to the bowling alley where he is given a wonderful welcome meal by the new boss. Another employee notes that he didn't get a welcome party.
  • Abdul pouts because his mom doesn't take him seriously. Angela suggests he talks to mom. Instead he flounces out of the fonda and runs into La Jaiba. She lays it on thick and he looks mighty happy.

Avances
  • Irma tells Rod that Diego is dying. Rod really doesn't care.
  • Everyone continues to comment on how different Diego has been.
  • Rod gathers the office together to publicly propose to Nat.

"Paolo meets up with the punks and unintelligible things are said."

Love it! If I were writing recaps for Que Pobres Tan Ricos, every sentence would read that way.

Sounds like last night was full of Stupid (Alonso romantic ploy) and Icky (anything involving Rodrigo and/or Brigette). But happy to learn that Irma the nurse is lavishing her charms on a good doc now, rather than Horndog Rod.

Missed the whole thing because I was at an awards ceremony for high school track gals. Adolescent girls these days all have long straight hair and legs at least 10 miles in length. Or possibly they just look that way because their skirts are only 3 inches in length. Dios mio!

Wonderfully detailed and sparkling Sara.

Loved your "Irene breaks up the one-sided fight and says "You aren't Diego!!" Which would be great if she didn't follow it up with a lame "you just aren't acting like yourself." (For a split second I really thought she had figured it out.)" Me too!

I don't care about the stupid flaming heart Alonso lights (which of course gets out of hand and almost burns down the lawn) was another favorite (along with what Judy already mentioned).

Rod is out of control! Completely...Let's hope Nat crushes Rod like the vermin he is when he stages his public proposal. Ack.

I'm in Tad's corner (where I've been for a while) too Sara.

Thank you for this fantastic summary.

Diana

Thanks, Sara.

All I can say is that there has been too much evil Rodiego and not enough guaypo El.

Alonso ...grow up. He acts like a seventh grader.

Bratgitte has met her match in Rodiego. I am tired of looking at both of their sour and /or smirking faces. Basta. Will Brat get hit by the anvil that we know is hanging over Rodiego's. big head ?

Couple comments and following about 3/4 of the time but Sara you are bout where I am except I don't give a flip about Tad either.

Susanlynn, Alonso is a 7th grader. That whole cougar Irene thing outta crash a burn. (hope) Grumps has warned the boy that Irene did get around and to liven things up perhaps she falls off the wagon and goes back to being a barfly.

How many times will the human yo-yo Nat eat the dung of both Diego and Rod (after all Rod is Diego to her and this recent drama won't last) it makes me tired and want someone to hit her with a hammer. Let Brigette play a little with Rod, and please don't let Nat find out, as a gift since I like some of her dresses (actually most of them).

F you Grumps.

Never, ever understood the allure of Carmen and kinda with the gossipy ladies on the street.

Could Brigitte's dress be any closer to her vajayjay?

It is interesting re: Brigitte. She has said more than once that all guys are the same (i.e. bad). That's why she's not caring about Alberto at all because he is nice and caring. Rod will use and toss her to the side and when Al finds out he'll toss her to the side too and she'll just say "All guys are the same."

I betcha if Alberto all of a sudden cussed her out and mistreated her, she'd find him very interesting and attractive. Right now she's only with him because he has some stature.

It's beyond time that Nat finds out Diego has a twin brother. Why can't Grumps figure it out, since he allegedly was the only one who could tell them apart?

Hi, Sara,

Regarding your question whether all coma patients are on ventilators, no they are not, although most are because whatever situation caused such a massive injury to the brain will likely injure the areas of the brain that control respiration. I loved your recap! Thanks so much for your hard work.

I am retired, but would be willing to reenter the work force at Grump's place where no one ever seems to do any work, one can leave anytime they feel like it, and you can get boinked twice per day on company time.

Judy B: Skirts 3 inches in length? Really?

David

Also, the "Irene could be Alonso's mother" thing the characters keep saying would be more believable if the actress who plays Irene actually looked like Alonso's mother OR if Alonso looked really young (like Alberto). Because Alonso & Irene look close in age to me.

Didn't a character say last night that there wasn't really but a 10 year age difference between the two? (maybe Alberto to Brigitte)?

And I wish Uni hadn't cut the scene of Irene hearing Brigitte telling the seamstresses that SHE was the boss now. It jumped from Irene hearing Brat tell the seamstress that to Irene running in Diego's office & busting up the "Diego"/Alonso fight.

I think if we had seen the reaction of Irene to Brigitte or more of Irene/Brigitte's interactions it would explain why Brigitte is so intent on conspiring against Irene.

But really, if Nat is gone from Caprico, Brigitte should be packing her box too because IMO the only reason Brigitte is there is because of Natalia.

Sara,

Thanks for another great recap of these choppy episodes. Seems like some folks have seen the original episodes and have filled in what we miss. Thanks!

I was only home long enough to see Rod torment Diego in the hospital and then inject his IV. Ack! So frustrating. How long will the writers let this go on? Rod is running amok over Diego, his life, his job, and his reputation.

Sara thanks so much for your recap. I think we all share your frustration w/the plot as Judy noted (the horrible reign of Rod and Alonso's stupidity, that actually makes him a good match Karina).

The frustrating thing about The Great Misunderstanding is that its not just Nat. Now people who supposely know both men just think "Diego" is acting odd. As Anon207 stated, even Grumps can't tell. I hope we don't have to wait much longer at least for the real Diego to come back.

And Nat needs to return to work and refuse Rod's proposal.

Diana, I hope your sad times at work are over.

Susanlynn, I hope the Brat gets her own anvil and part of Rod's as it seems soon enough she'll most likely be helping him to something bad.

Great to see you here tofie and David.

If I was Irene and Nat pulled another quitting fit because of her relationship with DeRigo (she warned her the last time and the priest told her it isn't cool either) she wouldn't be back even if everyone has notice a little personality quirk with the punk.

Ordinarily I'd agree that Nat couldn't come back to Caprico...

HOWEVER

EVERYONE has noticed "Diego" acting foul, and Diego just acted foul with Irene AND she saw him punch out Alonso. Plus, Rosa could probably attest to how nasty Diego has been...and probably heard how "Diego" talked about Natalia.

Any other circumstance I'd agree Natalia shouldn't be allowed to come back but in this case "Diego's" acting worse than Grumps ever did in the office.

ITA Anon207 that Nat should be given another chance based on Rod's extreme crazy. If Irene had heard even part of the conversation he had w/Grumps, she really would have KNOWN this is Rod not Diego. The fact that the Als have admitted he's acting like Rod, Grumps (but he won't say it to anyone else), and Irene all noticed but haven't had a group chat about this just continues the ridiculousness of this situation.

MX eps 74-76

David...I might have exaggerated a little (the Irish in me) but the skirts were extremely short. I thought the skirts I wore in the sixties were short, but these are waaaay shorter. Ah well, to each generations, it's special quirks.

Judy- At our end of the school year awards ceremony last year, we had to take two of the girls (high school seniors) aside and have them do something about their clothing before they took the stage. The girls really love to wear sky high heels, combined with really short skirts, that would have shown WAY too much to those below in the audience. Luckily, one of the young ladies had pants in her car, and the other had a cute jacket that was long. We decided after that to always bring along a few clothing items that can be brought out for emergency situations. During the summer, we use the fingertip rule for both the boys and girls (shorts can be no shorter than where your fingertips reach when your hands are at your side). But for the most part, we try to leave them alone about their dress. Teenagers will always push the envelope, and have always done so every generation. :) Did you see the recent articles about the dress codes banning young girls from wearing leggings at schools? Lots of push back on that, because it targets some girls (curvy girls), but not others.

Gracias, Sara! I agree with your reaction to Alonso's incredibly stupid plan. My favorite part of the whole thing was Irene sitting inside enjoying the food. But was it just me, or did I see a bottle of wine on the table?

I think, with the edits, we must have missed Brigitte saying something to Irene about why Natalia left, because Irene's explanation to Alonso in the car was that Natalia had an altercation with Diego "too." Since Natalia didn't bring up Diego at all, I don't know where else Irene could have gotten that info. Maybe Rosa? Anyway, it sounds like she's cutting her slack because she knows Diego had something to do with her leaving and after watching/hearing the way he reacted to the news about her and Alonso, she wants to know what he did/said to Natalia. So Natalia had better tell her the WHOLE story because this now makes the second instance of Diego making a decision about the business without consulting Irene, on top saying that Natalia and Irene BOTH had no authority within the company and no knowledge about business matters.

I get that the most sensible explanation for all of them is that Rod really IS Diego but he's just not acting like himself...I mean, if anyone said out loud, "Hey, do you think maybe Rodrigo came out of his coma and somehow kidnapped Diego and is now taking his place," the rest of them would probably laugh their asses off. At the same time, he's acting SO different, that even if this was the real Diego, it would be time for a group intervention.

Thanks everyone!! It's finals week PLUS I started grad school this week (squee!) Sorry I didn't have time to stop by earlier.

David-Thank you for the explanation about vents and comas.

Tofie- "F you Grumps." You are the QUEEN of one-liners.

JudyB- Things become even more unintelligible when I don't have a context and I'm sorry, but sometimes this editing leaves me contextless. (Especially that scene with El and the two cops when we came back from commercial.) OH, and if my legs were a mile long and I was skinny I'd wear three inch skirts, too. Youth is so wasted on the young.

Diana-I'm glad I wasn't the only one that fell for the "you aren't Diego!" trap AND that I have company in Tad's corner.

Susanlynn-YES! Alonso acts like a 7th grader.

Anon207-I agree that Irene looks great and not that old. I think it was Alberto who mentioned the age difference and it was only 10 years.

Karen-I continue to shake my head at so many things. Especially now when DeRigo (thanks, Tofie!) and his behavior is being noted, BUT...

...Kat-You are also right that the alternative "Rodrigo is awake and he has something to do with the missing Diego" is also far-fetched.

JoseAngel-Thanks for keeping up with the MX episodes!
