Lo Que la Vida Me Robó Lunes 5/26/14 #139

Chapter 139: Silence Is Deadly

Mendoza Mansion: In her endless attempt at defrauding anyone out of the most money she could, Gracie asked Pedro Medina for help.

Help me destroy Fabiola Guillen.”

He looked at her with ironic amusement and a smile that betrayed it. “Graciela, Ezequiel never suspected all this time? The woman whom you're looking to destroy could be the daughter you had with Benjamín Almonte.”

Gracie looked grave, sincerely for a change. “That can't be, Pedro. My baby died. She stopped breathing in my arms – ”

Wait, wait,” he said. “Amelia brought her to a doctor – “

Yes. It's true. She did it to save my baby's life, but it was too late.”

I want to ask you something. Did you ever see this baby again? Did you confirm that she was dead?” Gracie looked away from him for a moment. “Did you or didn't you?” He repeated himself twice, barely giving her a chance to answer him. “Before now, did you or didn't you?”

That was a very sad thing for me,” she finally said. “I didn't have the courage to look at her again and never visited her grave. No.”

He stood up and looked down at her. “It's time you considered the possibility that Fabiola is your daughter.”

No, no, no,” she said, also standing. “No, that can't be.”

It's most likely that Benjamín Almonte was behind all this.” Gracie looked at him. “Your baby was born a couple of months before his sister Anastasia coincidentally registered a baby as her own. There were no adoption papers here or in the US. She was a woman who had never given birth and you knew perfectly well that she was sterile. Benjamín would have known that. After all that time why else would he have named Fabiola as his sole heiress in his original will? Because he always knew she was his daughter. The daughter you gave birth to.”

No, you don't understand. That could not be.” She could not meet his gaze. “Benjamín couldn't have hidden that from me his whole life and Amelia couldn't have deceived me that way. Excuse me, but my baby died. I'm sure she died in my arms.”

Medina stared into her eyes, knowing he had her in a corner. “No, Gracie. You never confirmed it. What's more, I'm sure you don't have a death certificate in your possession. Or am I mistaken?” She looked at him with suppressed dismay. “A while ago I talked with Amelia about this. She told me the truth. She then told me you had done something terrible.”

What did she tell you?”

She was very worried because Fabiola is here in Aguazul. She's investigating into her past and looking to find her origins.” He recalled his distressed second wife telling him about a woman handing him a newborn baby girl that she gave a few days later to Anastasia. “I asked more questions, but she didn't want to answer me.” She tried to withhold her anxiety, but he still saw it. “In all events, I didn't need to because it's all clear, don't you think?” He paused a moment. “In all things, I'm inclined to help you. But I'll leave you right now because I imagine you have a lot of things to think about.”

He kissed the end of her shawl, which she slapped out of his hands before he left. She stood there for a moment, knowing that her secret could be exposed. Then she slowly sat down and cried.

Almonte Beach House: Fabiola Guillen was doing taunting of her own as she poured herself another glass of the only liquid she ever drank.

Don't think too much about it. Face it, José Luis,” she said. “You also suspect that Alejandro isn't dead. Isn't that it?”

That's unimportant. I am absolutely sure he will never return to Aguazul.”

Why do you say that?”

None of your business.”

For both our sakes I hope you're right,” she said. “But I recommend you talk to her about it before I do. Or someone else does.” He looked at her with a mixture of hatred and contempt. “Because the rumors have started. You know that in a town like the this rumors circulate like dust.”

He approached until he was in her face. “You are to stay away from Monserrat, do you hear me?” She backed away. “Leave her alone because I won't let you hurt her. Do you hear me? You don't know what I'm capable of when defending the woman I love. You don't know. Do you understand?” He headed for the door, but she stopped him.

José Luis, when your marriage goes to hell – which now seems inevitable – you and I will talk again. You can be sure of that.”

He left with a gesture of disgust. As he was out the door she made a disgusting pursed-lip gesture at his back.

Monserrat's House: Monserrat Mendoza de Almonte de Álvarez sat on her couch with her son and his grandmother. She persuaded him to tell her of the little girl who identified the photo of his father. Laurito had told the little girl that she had to have been mistaken. Rosario prompted him to explain the details. Despite her lack of formal education she had the instinctive touch of a family court judge. He went on to tell his mother that José Luis told him to keep this a secret so it wouldn't make her sad. She asked when this happened and he told her that it was the day she married his stepfather. The boy sensed something wrong and asked his mother whether she was sad or angry with him. She told him she wasn't. He was afraid his stepfather would be angry with him for revealing the secret. Monserrat, as young as she was when he was born, was a good mother who understood her child. She asked whether he met the girl in school and he explained he had never seen her before. She had lived with her parents in Argentina but a man had kidnapped her and brought her to Mexico in an airplane. Two questions later he told her the little girl's name was Victoria. It was the name Monserrat had suggested when her friend Nadia was pregnant. She and Rosario looked at each other for a moment and Rosario explained that the man with the child was Pedro Medina. Monserrat sent Laurito to wash his hands before dinner. When he was beyond earshot she looked at Rosario and realized the possibility that little Victoria was the child of her best friend and that her own child's father could be alive.

Bakery Café: Macario Peralta and his wife Dominga were closing up shop when they had two unexpected customers. Alejandro Almonte and Victor Hernández arrived. Dominga dropped the handful of paper cups and crossed herself at the sight of their former employer and his friend.

Monserrat's Bedroom: She was sitting before the mirror as José Luis entered. The moment he said “Good evening” and kissed her twice he knew something wasn't right.

Is everything alright?”

No, José Luis.”

What happened?”

You tell me. Now you're telling my son to keep secrets and hiding things.”

You spoke to Rosario?”

Laurito, too. He told me about the little girl he saw in the plaza.”

Monserrat, I never thought – “

Or hoped? Did you think I would never find out?”

No. I just wanted to be the person who would tell you about it.”

And when? This happened two weeks ago on our wedding day. You've had many opportunities to talk to me about this since then and no, you didn't. You asked my son to lie to me!”

No, no, Monserrat, “ he began. “Forgive me, I didn't ask Laurito to lie to you. I just asked him not to tell you because I didn't want you to get upset. And least of all over this foolishness. This child certainly must be confused.”

Monserrat wasn't buying this for even one centavo. “This little girl was with Medina. Did it occur to you that she is Nadia's daughter?”

Monserrat, please! You're jumping to conclusions.”

Jumping to conclusions? Laurito told me he showed her the photo of Alejandro and she recognized him. She said he was her uncle. And that's not all. Coincidentally her name is Victoria, the name Nadia wanted to give her daughter. Does that look like I'm jumping to conclusions?”

José Luis realized he had been caught. “Very well. I agree with you, Monserrat. Such things did cross my mind, but I didn't want to talk to you before confirming that this girl was Nadia's daughter.”

I need to know. I need to know if Nadia is alive. I have to talk to Medina. I have to see this girl. Don't you get it? If Nadia survived, Alejandro could also be alive.”

At that moment José Luis might have wished himself dead if he had a conscience.

Medina Mansion: Adolfo Argüelles took his sister outside the house to speak to her near the fountain. He knew his brother-in-law's love of voyeuristic gadgets and wanted to be as far from any possible ones as he could manage.

Pedro suspects that Victor isn't dead,” he told Nadia. “He told me to investigate in Aguazul, but I haven't found out anything.”

Susanna told me someone sent me a cart loaded with flowers,” she told him.

And what did that mean?”

Victor once sent me one the same as that.”

How could he do something that stupid? What did he expect anyone to think? Someone could have seen it.”

I think he wanted me to have hope, to know that he's not dead. That he was near us.”

Yes, yes. A great romantic gesture, but a huge risk. Did he say where it came from?”

No.”

Very well. It's very important that Pedro thinks you continue to believe that he's dead. It's for your good, Victoria's; both of you.” She agreed. “Tell me, Nadia, do you know where I can find Victor?”

No. I don't know.” She looked on the verge of tears.

No, don't worry. I'll find him; believe me. Just don't take any risks for yourself or my niece.”

Adolfo, I'm so afraid,” she said. She began crying. “I don't know if I can keep Victoria silent about her father. She's just a child and suffers for having to pretend in front of Pedro. My daughter had to grow up too fast because of this monster.” He tried to calm her down. “Everything she's been through in the last few days is going to mark her for life. You don't know how this hurts, Adolfo. And this damned blindness that prevents me doing anything. I never know if he's watching. That's why I pray to God that this nightmare will end soon.”

Hey, hey; calm down. Nightmares don't last forever.”

Nadia took a deep breath. “Josefina!”

What does she have to do with this?”

Adolfo, you have to look for her. Josefina is the only one who knows where Victor is.”

She looked hopeful and he looked confused, but his poor sister couldn't figure out anything about what his intention was.

Monserrat's Bedroom: Monserrat sat on the edge of the bed, her husband beside her. He leaned over her shoulder and spoke in an almost-whisper.

Just because Nadia survived this accident how can you say that Alejandro survived?”

Because the little girl recognized him.”

My love,” he started, embracing her. “Stop this. You're only going to hurt yourself more. All I want to do is protect you.”

She rose and walked toward the mirror. “But I have to know the truth, José Luis.”

He had just about hit the breaking point. “But why?” he almost shouted as he slapped the mattress.

Why?” she asked, incredulous.

Why? If he's still alive would you want to know he had abandoned you? Please, Monserrat, he abandoned you and your son. He ran off to escape being arrested!” At her look of shock he continued. “Therefore, why hasn't he tried to contact you? He could have communicated with you all this time. Alejandro is dead.”

I'm not so sure of that.”

But if he's alive you have to accept it. Alejandro has completely forgotten about you.” He watched her step away from him. “My love, forgive me. The truth is this is precisely why I didn't want you to suspect anything. You know I don't want you hurt again.”

That doesn't matter. I need to be absolutely sure.”

He had hoped it wouldn't come to this, but he wasn't married to a idiot. “Very well. If you need that, we'll get to the bottom of it.” She turned around and faced him. “We'll do this together. You're not alone.”

He embraced her and she was lucky she couldn't read his mind.

Lt Mendoza's Apartment: Dimitrio let Mónica in, talking about the great features of his new digs. It was still empty, but he was hoping to soon rent some furniture. She was confused about why he would tell her these things... until he told her he wanted her to move in with him.

Bakery Café: Macario could barely absorb the shock after hearing what happened after the crash.

Monserrat cried so much afterward, for ages,” Dominga said. “So did we. And for Nadia, her friend. Such a good person, and for her unborn baby.”

Victoria,” said Victor, with a smile. “My daughter's name is Victoria. She's a miracle.”

And are you saying that Medina has your daughter and her mother?” Macario asked. At Victor's reply he said. “Damned son of a bitch.”

I have to recover them,” Victor said. “That is the only important thing.”

Yes. I also have to recover my family,” said Alejandro.

Yes, Alejandro,” Macario said, hesitating. “But that's going to be difficult. I had a man-to-man talk with José Luis over mescal about him marrying the lady boss. Who knew you were alive and would come back to Aguazul?”

José Luis was very good with them, Alejandro. With Rosario, Laurito, and especially with Monserrat.” said Dominga.

True, but things are different now,” said Alejandro.

Do you think José Luis will want to renounce your wife again?” asked Macario. “She wasn't your wife after all that...”

He gave her up once before, didn't he?” asked Dominga.

Yes, but now she's married to him,” said Macario. They continued for a few seconds more. Alejandro was becoming impatient. He decided now was the time for a plan.

Macario, I have to demand your discretion. For the moment I don't want Monserrat to know I'm alive and above all that I'm in Aguazul.”

OK, you know what you're doing, but you have to be very careful. If the police know you're here you'll be picked up.”

Yes, I know. Victor and I are aware of the risks, but we're going to recover our lives.”

Not a word,” said Macario.

Lt Mendoza's Apartment: Mónica wasn't so sure about this and said so. Dimitrio had never let her know what was on his mind in the past. She still didn't get his relationship with his mother.

My mother is sick,” he told her. “The reality is that she's a bad person. She has hurt everyone. My father, my aunt, me, my sister. She manipulates everyone and the only important thing is what she wants. She doesn't care what she destroys along the way. She's incapable of being happy and doesn't want anyone else to be happy. The only thing she's interested in in her sick mind is money.”

Mónica was shocked at this description of a woman by her own son.

Well, of course she would be interested in money, but surely she'd be interested in the happiness of her children.”

No. She's done horrible things for money. Especially to her children. For example, she manipulated my sister into marrying Alejandro for his money, which she wanted. I helped her for many years and that's what hurts me the most. I married Josefina because I wanted to stop her manipulation.”

Are you saying you didn't marry for love?”

No. I didn't marry for love.”

And over time? Did you ever love her?”

Yes. I fell in love with her because she was with me during the most difficult times of my life. She helped me and I fell in love with her. But she left. When things finally started getting better for me she left. I went to pieces but time took care of that. But now? I want to be with you and I want things to go well.” He paused a moment. “Look, it might be a little soon and I'll understand if you think so, but nothing would make me happier.”

I accept. I want us to be together.” She smiled.

They embraced.

Mendoza Mansion: Gracie sat alone in the living room, Pedro's words echoing in her sick mind. She couldn't take the idea that her long-time lover could conceal a secret this big. She was particularly offended that a humble priest and a lowly peon whom she trusted to bury a dead infant would be a part of that conspiracy. She cursed them and Amelia for having deceived her. She had never learned that women like herself are condemned to a solitary life of their own making.

Rehab Center: A day or so later Adolfo went to the rehab center to get María. He wasn't sure he was doing the right thing. She promised not to backslide. She was determined to see Alejandro. Adolfo told her he still didn't know where he was. He had spoken to his sister, who didn't know. María said it didn't matter. She was sure she would find “her” Alejandro. They left.

Medina Mansion: The same black-clad guards who had watched the prison house were now guarding the gate of the governor's mansion. José Luis and Monserrat approached and asked to speak with Pedro. They wouldn't let them in. Susanna came out of the house and Monserrat recognized her, but before they could exchange more than a greeting Pedro came out and ordered her back inside.

What the hell are you doing here?” he demanded.

We're not moving from here until you clarify whether that girl you were with in the plaza is Nadia's daughter,” said Monserrat. “My son said her name is Victoria.”

I don't owe you any explanations. Get the hell away from my house. Save me the trouble of calling the police about you trespassing on private property. You two are not welcome here.”

Shh, shh, calm down,” said José Luis. “Remember that I'm chief of police and if you don't let us in right now I will bring charges against you. You are holding this child against her will. We know this child isn't yours. You want me to take extreme measures? Because it could come to that.”

He tried not to show it, but Pedro was in the hated position of being backed against the wall.

Susanna – who was fiercely loyal to Nadia – started to tell her what was happening outside her prison wall. Pedro entered and ordered her to take Victoria into the living room. When she and the child were gone his perverse cruelty was let loose.

Monserrat and José Luis are outside. They won't leave before they talk to you.” He grabbed her suddenly and shoved her against the wall. “You better listen to me and do as I say.” He put his hand on her slender throat and came close enough to breathe in her face. “Remember you have to be calm or you will suffer the consequences.” She nodded, looking as though she would cry in a New York second. “Do you understand?” He repeated himself three times until she broke into a weak cry. He then released her throat. “I remind you you can't save Alejandro. You can't even say he's in a hospital bed in a coma.”

Why not?”

I'm not sure why but I'm doing a favor for Gracie. She's worried about her daughter and doesn't want her life destroyed by this wretch.” Nadia gritted her teeth as he continued. “Furthermore, I want him to die completely alone.”

I don't understand why you hate him so much. Why?”

Nadia, your obligation as my wife – the only one you have – is to think about what pleases me.” he poked her forehead as he had seen Gracie do. “And then to follow my orders.” He snapped his fingers loudly only two inches from her face. “Do you understand?” He said this several times, punctuating it with his finger-snapping.

Yes, Pedro,” she answered, just to end his abuse.

Monserrat must continue to believe that this wretch is dead. You have to convince her that you are the only survivor of this accident. Do you understand?” He started snapping his fingers again. Nadia cringed, wishing she could have closed the piano keyboard on his hands at some point in the past.

Monserrat's House: Alejandro and Victor went to see Rosario. She warned Alejandro that she might not be able to keep his secret much longer because of Laurito's meeting with Victoria in the plaza. Victor became agitated when she explained that Victoria was running away from Pedro Medina, the man who had more than once tried to kill him. Alejandro cautioned him to calm down and allow Rosario to finish telling her story. She explained how Laurito had shown Alejandro's photo to Victoria and she told him that it was her uncle and he was alive. She continued, saying that José Luis had told Laurito that the girl must be confused. Finally he asked when this happened and Rosario delivered the worst news, that it happened on the wedding day and that Laurito was told never to tell his mother for any reason.

Peralta House: Macario and Dominga talked about their former boss and his troubles, especially the remarriage of his wife. There was a knock on the door and when Dominga opened it Gracie walked in, with an expression worthy of the bride of Frankenstein's monster.

Macario asked his wife to leave him alone with her to discuss a business matter. She complied reluctantly and walked toward the front door with a backward look at their boss's Mommy Direst.

Why did you come to see me?”

Years ago when you came to my house to talk about my secret, I was going through something very difficult and we didn't have a good conversation.”

Yes. I remember. Now, what? All these years later you're calmer? You want to talk about it?”

I just came to ask you one thing and you better tell me the truth.”

Go ahead.”

She stepped forward and stared him in the eye with the coldness of Cleopatra's asp.

Where did you bury my daughter?”

In the cemetery near the chapel.”

Why there?”

Because Don Benjamín said to.”

Gracie backed up and headed toward the door. “Come with me, Macario. We're going to the hacienda.”

But why?”

I want my daughter's remains to be reinterred in a niche in the church in Aguazul.” She poked his chest. “The only person who can lead me to her grave is you.”

No. I beg you not to make me do this.”

Why not?” At his refusal to answer she shouted, “You can't keep silent. Why not?”

Don't ask, because I have my reasons. I can't do it.”

What are you afraid of, Macario? That I will discover that the grave is empty?” She waited for his facial expression to react, which took a fraction of a second. “Yes, Macario. I have buried the grief over this deception all these years!”

Yes, it's true. What I buried that day wasn't your daughter. It was a bag of rocks.”

She slapped him for a crime far less dire than her own.

Mendoza Mansion: Carlota stared at the unexpected – and unwelcome visitor as her husband entered the room. She told him that María Zamudio was there demanding to see him and would not leave until they talked. He stared at the nasty girl on the couch with a murderous look as Carlota demanded a second time to know what this was all about. María rose from the couch saying “Will you tell her, or should I?”

Medina Mansion: Monserrat and José Luis entered the living room to see Nadia and Victoria. Monserrat sensed that something was not right when Nadia failed to greet her.

Peralta House: Gracie never knew when to stop.

God won't forgive you for what you've done!”

Señora Amelia said that this was best for the girl.”

The best thing, Macario,” she said, poking his temple, “what the hell are you talking about, you wretch?” She turned away as she turned on the tears. “The best for a child is to be at its mother's side.”

But, what would you have done with the baby?”

You don't know! You don't know how much I cried over my lost baby! That was my decision and not Amelia's and least of all yours!” She shoved him in the chest. “You had no right, you ill-bred – “

I didn't decide anything. No, Ma'am. I only did what I was ordered to do!”

Who ordered you?”

My boss.”

Benjamín Almonte?”

Yes.”

Gracie turned away in shock.

Medina Mansion: Monserrat and Nadia, sisters in misfortune, embraced. Pedro told Monserrat that Nadia was blind. She backed up and sadly looked at her long-lost friend. Little Victoria looked up at her and said “You are very pretty!” Monserrat exclaimed happily over the little girl and told her friend how she never thought she would see her again. José Luis watched the reunion with bitterness and an unknown measure of fear.

Peralta House: Gracie was still incredulous.

I can't believe that all you buried was a sack of rocks.”

The good padre – may he rest in peace – never knew. He thought I buried a dead baby.”

You have all used me in the most cruel way. Benjamín, Amelia, and you, you dirty Indian. May you all burn in Hell! Damned pigs!”

I did as I was told. Will you forgive me?” He was genuinely upset and genuinely sure she was. The man was often wise, but also often naïve.

Forgive? I can never forgive! No matter what you buried you all robbed me of my baby. My little girl. My baby.” She turned on him. “In this life you are all paying for what you did to me. That damned Amelia's daughter was eaten up by cancer bit by bit. You, damned wretch,” she shoved him “married a woman who lost two pregnancies. There never will be a baby and you know why? She's sterile!” She then mocked Dominga in a way that could only be called bitchy. “When your wife asks 'Why doesn't God let me be a mother, Macario?' I hope you have the courage to answer like a man because it was your fault! It's the price you'll pay until you die for robbing me of my baby! Damned dog!” She slapped him again. Foolishly he tried to ask her forgiveness again.

Mendoza Mansion: Ezekiel Basurto was already living with one harpy; he didn't need to see another.

Why are you so quiet, Ezekiel? Why don't you tell your wife why I'm here?”

Tell me,” said Carlota. “For God's sake.”

Your husband and I have outstanding business, Doña Carlota,” María said.

What is this woman talking about?”

I don't know,” he said, smoothly. “Don't worry.” María watched them with a small amount of amusement. “Right now we'll get this solved.” He directed María to the study and told his wife not to worry and that he loved her. She watched him exit and close the door. María had intended to cause trouble and it was only beginning.

Peralta House: Gracie was determined to have the last word.

Nobody knows I know this and least of all Fabiola. If you know what's good for you things stay as they are. Nobody else is to know this. Do you understand?”

I do.”

Look me in the eyes, peon! Look me in the eyes and swear! For all the crying I did all those years I hope all of you rot! I want you to swear that you will never mention this ever again. Swear to me!”

I swear I never told the truth to Senorita Fabiola,” he started.

Swear to me, Macario. Swear to me in memory of Padre Anselmo.”

Yes. I swear.”

Mendoza Mansion: Carlota was eavesdropping at the study door when Amelia arrived unexpectedly. Carlota shushed her.

Quiet, Amelia, my husband might hear.”

But, who's in the study with him?”

María Zamudio.”

Alejandro Almonte's maid?”

Yes.”

Inside the study Ezekiel was proving that he learned quite a few of Pedro's tricks. He had the former maid turned addict turned hooker up against the wall. By the throat.

Just what were you thinking, you damned servant? You thought you'd come hear spreading dirt in my house?”

Let go of me, Ezekiel. Don't make me need to scream. You have a lot more to lose than I do.”

He released her and thought for a moment.

If you're here for some stuff, you got the last dose you're getting from me.”

I didn't come for your garbage.”

Oh, so now it's garbage?”

I came for what belongs to me. I came for Alejandro's will.”

Urban, thank you so much for the tremendous care and craft that went into this recap. The screenshots are wonderful too.

Is "Mommie Direst" new? It is surely a keeper.

Poor Macario. He seems to have bought into the tragedy queen act. Not me. I think Graciela is enraged at being conned. All these years, she has thought of herself as the puppet master. It infuriates her to think that others -- Ben, Amelia and even lowly Mac -- were pulling her strings.

José Luis is looking consistently grim and he is starting to get sweaty again.

It makes me nervous that Adolfo is telling María things that Nadia has entrusted him with. Adolfo may think he is in control, but I'm not so sure.

Well, I wanted to get my two cents in early since I'll be off the grid for a few days. Talk to you all later in the week.

Splendid job, Urban!

Urban, thanks for your excellent and comprehensive recap!

What a finger poking, finger thumping, finger snapping, face grabbing, face slapping, neck choking episode!
Loved it!

It was so nice seeing Graciela tormented by her past!

Jarifa

Holy Cow, Urban!!! This is the first I have seen of your new writing style and it fits this story so perfectly!

This was stunning! The screen shots and the dialogue. Oh my word! So much dialogue! How in the world can we ever thank you enough!! HOLY COW!!

I'm with NovelaMaven re Graciela and her wonderful little show. The only way I got through that horrible humiliation and despicable treatment of Macario was the sense that Graciela KNEW she had been conned and beaten at her own game! Her irritating voice was perfect for this scene. There was a moment there where all I could think was that she was evil incarnate.

Her abusive actions towards others are getting harder to watch. Now that Pedro seems to have picked up this wretched habit of poking heads and faces, it will be even harder to watch.

Graciela is the ultimate phony and I can't wait to see her demise.

I can't remember who said it yesterday, but I agree that JL looks and acts like a louse. The Miami Vice look does not suit him at all. His nasty looking 5 o'clock shadow makes him look grungy, dirty, and sweaty.

Macario is unable to keep secrets, so I was dismayed when Alejandro and Victor came into that shop. Of all the people in the world to ask to keep a secret, Macario is not the one to ask.

Carlota is going to see another side of her devoted husband very soon, I'm afraid, but I gotta say that I enjoyed Maria making EZ Basura squirm.

NovelaMaven, hope you have a good few days away. We will eagerly await your return!

This was such an incredible piece of work, Urban. HOLY COW!!

Fatima

Urban:

Thanks so much for this very splendid recap and I too loved the Mommy Direst line.

I felt bad for Nadia, the poor thing, and I want her abuse to end like yesterday. I can't wait for the day that she is free of Peddy.

I also feel bad for JL. I know, I know, Monse won't eva be his, but I want him not to lose his honor. I'm hoping that stays intact. The poor man is fighting a losing battle.

I didn't like what Rosy did. I know she wants her boy to get his family back, but I wanted her to handle it differently. It's almost like venganza with her right now.

I wonder what EZ will do now? This will be interesting.

I too agree that all of Graceless pity partay for one was all about her being conned. She would have used this baby girl anyway she could, same as she did with Monse and Dimi. She's just pithed she was conned, especially by Don Benny.

I too will be off the gird until Friday, so thank you so very much Urban for this fabulous recap and all the great screen shots too. So perfect!

Urban, this was an amazing recap of a very eventful episode. Thanks, too, for the screencaps.

It was rewarding to see Gracie on the receiving end of trouble and misery. She loves dishing it out, but didn't have as much fun taking it. She must have felt the ground shifting underneath her.

I did like that turquoise and blue necklace she had on during the Macario conversation. Speaking of jewelry, in the scenes with Montse and JL, Montse didn't have on a wedding ring. I'm sure he gave her one in the wedding ceremony. ??

Monica (in heels) was taller than Dimi in their kissing scene. At least he gave her the background on Mommie direst (great nickname!)

Pedro and Nadia are playing some intense scenes together. His terrorism toward her is too real for comfort. Is he losing it, though, not to recall that JL is now chief of police?

The plot is almost two steps forward, come to a cliff edge, turn, and take one step back.

I enjoyed this episode alot, especially the scene with Gracie and Macario. As Fatima said at moments i really think she is the devils incarnate.Pedro and EZ arent any different.I laughed hard when Macario was forced to tell that all he buried was a bag of rocks and then ,bitchslap! I also enjoyed seeing Maria trolling EZ even if i despise her to neverend.. And ugh i sometimes fingersnap too ,i also wear glasses and im a Scorpio too.It was a shocker when i saw Pedroi fingersnapping. It wont take me long before i start saying "Te Falta jesus" in real life as well:)

Thanks, guys. This episode was all about disseminating or discovering concealed information; hence so much dialogue, which is why this one took a long time. One of the reasons I prefer Mondays.

Pedro wants to forget JL is now the police chief because he would have objected to this choice. Yes, it isn't exactly realistic to have an ex-con in this position, but I strongly doubt that he should have authority over such an appointment from his present position. Pedro is a puppet-master whose power is being challenged by the man with his own previous position.

My biggest problem with EZ so far was how long it's been taking to bring Pedro down. You'd think he would have found the way by now. However, he seems to have become sucked into it. He gets dinero from Pedro's drug running and he's becoming just as sadistic. I think his treatment of Maria is part of her Karmageddon, but the problem is that he's likely to treat other women the same way. Carlota will feel like the ultimate fool when she finds this out and Gracie will make it worse. Carlota could even lose the family home over this.

More after caffeine.

Urban A,
Thanks for the recap. I always look forward to reading them. And the screenshots, they were awesome too. Thanks for all your hard work and effort.

Finally! Gracie got a taste of her own medicine. I don't believe her suffering. I don't think she wanted that baby. I can't forget the look on her face or her tone of voice with Padre A, when we saw that flashback of her telling the Padre that her baby was dead. She had no remorse. ITA with all who said that she was upset that she was conned. Now that she knows who Fabby is, I doubt that she will reconcile with her. Gracie will secretly try to find a way to prove she is Fabby's mother, then demand half or all her money.

I hate the way JL is squirming his way out of being discovered. He is going to have to keep making up lies in order to keep Montse by his side. I hated the fact that he told Montse that Ale abandoned them when he left, and that Ale forgot about her. JERK! He is only making it worse for himself in the end. If JL is acting this way because he thinks Ale is in a coma, I can only imagine what his reaction will be when he finds out he's alive and in Aguazul. I fear that JL will put Ale in jail. If he does, he will loose Montse and Laurito. But hey, he'll still have Fabby waiting in the wings!

Nadia and Montse's reunion was a tearful one for me. You could feel how anxious Nadia was. It must be torture for her to lie so much. It's going to be painful to hear her tell Montse that Ale didn't survive the plane crash. Damn You Peddy and Gracie!

It was a total mistake for Adolfo to take BM out of rehab. And an even bigger mistake to tell her about Ale. I liked the fact that she got EZ is hot water with Carlota, but I hated seeing that all too familiar smirky smile on her face.

I am not sure what to think about Ale and Vic going to see Mac and Dominga. Everyone knows Mac can't keep a secret. Are the writers trying to tell us something? We all know that in TN Land, things happen for a reason. I'm just not sure on this one.

La Paloma
I noticed Montse's missing wedding rings too. She wasn't wearing them when they came back home from their honeymoon either. And also in the scene where she goes to the cake shop after seeing Ale in the rearview mirror. Wardrobe malfunction?

Thanks again Urban A!

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

I'm going to step out for a trip to the bank and the bagel shop. When I get back I'll have my own post about Gracie. She deserves it even if it's poisonous.

Fatima, this is the sixth installment I've done in this style. It started at episode 114. It was a necessary change because the tone of the story had changed significantly, as I explained in the foreword to that episode.

I really wish Televisa would do a novela de epoca in this style. Most of the actors in this series already look right for it without a lot of change beyond the wardrobe.

Episodes like this I so bow to our wonderful recappers since it is hard for me to actually sit through all the difficult scenes. Your recap was exceptional UA, pictures, dialog...just perfect!

Interesting last night that the supposed people who think they have the upper hand were starting to see the possibility of their worlds coming apart. And how do they lash out: calling those they confront by demeaning names and trying frantically to "put them in their place". If it wasn't in words, it was actions like Pedro's finger snapping or the throat grabbing. The peasants are going to revolt and it won't be pretty when that happens to these cretins. Did I feel bad for Gracie--nope.

I have never been enamored of JL, he had a few moments with Angie for me, but his manipulation and stone cold reactions now are showing a man really heading down that slippery slope. That threat to Fabs? So, what would he do? For those who say that the only way Ale and Monse can be together will be JL's demise may be on to something.

Not sure how I feel about Dim and his Captain. I think he is coming from a sincere place with her now, which is amazingly more than anyone else is doing, but it seems he is still hurting by Fina's leaving and wonder how that comes into play at some point. But he didn't make promises of love, so Mar goes into this with her eyes open.

Oh, those previews. Ale meeting his little guy and will the boy recognize him? Yikes!

Daisynjay

Thank you for your recap, Urban, wonderful as usual!

Very good description of Monse and JL's conversation about secret keeping-JL's, of course.
Liked, "At that moment José Luis might have wished himself dead if he had a conscience.".
Will probably have to wait until tonight to do the rest of the recap justice.
Trouble in paradise for Carlota, not a good harbinger.

Thanks, UA, for this great early morning read with my oatmeal.

Gracie reminds me of a wild animal as she growls and snarls and shows her teeth. She is starting to look increasingly unhinged as she loses control of people and situations. What a tragic existence...estranged from her family..no friends. Her physical abuse of Macario was hard for me to watch. She released all her frustrations on him in the form of slaps, pushes, and thumps...how demeaning. I totally agree that her fury had to do with being tricked ..not her love of that baby. Gracie has no idea what love is...poor soul.

Watching Ped snapping his fingers in front of Nadia's face and pushing her forehead was just horrible. the young actress is doing an amazing job. It looked like that finger shove to her forehead was real and painful.

I agree that JL is looking sweaty and smarmy in his Miami Vice jackets and ten o'clock shadow.

Back from the morning constitutional and two iced ventis. I think someone else referred to Graciela as "Mommy Direst" before, but I don't remember who.

Dimitrio called it perfectly. She is a person who is incapable of love and who only sees opportunity for money or control. She is unhappy and isn't satisfied until everyone else around her is unhappy, like Carlota in ENDA. The only important difference between them is that Carlota was willing to do her own murders rather than trust them to others, as Graciela has mostly done.

I am fairly sure she tried to kill her infant daughter by Benjamin. There was also no remorse about it. She enjoyed shocking Padre Anselmo about it. She enjoys intimidating others because she refuses to have any other sort of interaction with others. People like her can never have friends because friendship requires trust, something she does not give and people quickly realize she doesn't deserve.

Her hypocrisy is the stuff of legend. She rants about "class" but is perfectly willing to ignore it for the right $um. And you can't buy class in the other sense for money because that's about how you present yourself and how you behave with others.

We have all expressed ourselves over her religious hypocrisy. And her Crimes Against Fashion, which was the main reason for the arrival photo in this article.

What shocked me was how Macario took her abuse last night. He doesn't deserve that abuse by any stretch and she was never his boss. She has no authority over him. However, I think there is a loophole. Since we never saw the padre being murdered or the disembodied hand in the shoebox, I think he's alive and when that is proven Macario can sing like a canary about Gracie's sordid past.

She is scared witless over public exposure of this. If that were to happen she could end up in the manicomio (not that she doesn't already belong there).

Dear Urban Anthropologist,

Thanks so much for the wonderful recap! It's always a pleasure for me on a Tuesday morning. Loved all the dialogue and the terrific screen shots.

I won't write more since I need to get back to work after a long weekend away, but just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the recap.
Best,
Julia R

Urban, if only your musings about the fate of Padre Anselmo could be true . . . it would be great if he were kept hidden somewhere somehow all this time.

Jarifa

Urban, thank you for letting me know when you starting writing in this Film Noir style. I will go back to read each one! I also agree that it would be FANTASTIC if Televisa would do something outside their usual box and foray into something new (even if it is the same ole TN essentials).

As Daisynjay said, it is difficult sitting through some of these scenes, that you captured every little nuance just amazes me! Absolutely super!

I gotta say that I nearly died laughing when Graciela walked in with those boots and that dress and that necklace. I love the boots, but this outfit was a crazy mish mash of Graciela trying to decide if she was going to be Nefertiti or Annie Oakley!

To make sure I am on the correct page, here is another QUESTION:

Given what transpired last night, are we now SURE that Fabiola is Gracie's daughter? At one point, it was thought that she could be an impostor. Is that option now completely off the table?

The whole baby issue has me just a tad confused. Graciela deliberately tried to kill that child, yes? She thought she had accomplished her deed, but somehow, Amelia got a hold of the child and must have told Benjamin. Benjamin was a sociopath. What made him show kindness in saving and supporting that child? Was it convenience? Was it a desire to help his sister? Would really like to hear some thoughts on this.

I've been really tardy in saying this, but the actress playing Nadia is doing an incredible job. I think her character has much more "meat" than the Montserrat character.

Aunty Ann, I have also been wondering how Graciela will deal with Fabiola now. I think your thought is a good one.

Madelaine, I have to agree that Rosario is probably dealing in some venganza right now. I see the reason for her actions and I think she is very upset that JL "used" Laurito in the cover up scheme. That would fry me as well.

I wish Dominga had stayed around to support Macario. I still can't get over that horrible and demeaning treatment of Macario.

Graciela's anvil had better be good.

As for Maria, well, I think she is nothing more than a plot device now.

Fatima

"As for Maria, well, I think she is nothing more than a plot device now."

Perfectly said Fatima! I had hoped if we had her back, they could be some nuance or changes into her character, but she's back to the same old one note. So yep, have her do her usual nuisance behavior to cause whatever trouble. Good thing she has Carlos in her corner because she's just back to be an annoying gnat to me.

I fully expect to Gracie to confront Amelia and I wonder if Amelia will throw back at her the fact she was hardly Mother of the Year material when the baby was born. She made it clear she didn't want anything in her way of climbing the social latter. Convenient for Gracie to forget that now. Being her other two children have pretty well told her to take a hike, how much of that regret and tears is the fact she would have had another kid to use as a chess piece? And the fact it turns out the child grew up to be a wine guzzling, hateful b**** and manipulator. Doubt Gracie admires her daughter for so brilliantly exhibiting her parental gene pool. And yes, Fatima, I do think we are getting the Fabs is her daughter set up now. I think the "maybe Maria" ship is sailing, but then again...

Daisynjay

I've said before that Maria and Fabiola could have been switched. Gracie isn't the only woman to have hidden a pregnancy, so there could have been other girls at that convent. The switch might also have been an accident.

Urban

" Since we never saw the padre being murdered or the disembodied hand in the shoebox, I think he's alive and when that is proven Macario can sing like a canary about Gracie's sordid past".

I gave a possible explanation of the Padre's whereabouts yesterday.

Padre Anselmo's spirit occupies the Tundra, guiding it all of those beautiful promotional locations in Aguazul.

He keeps it away from evildoers; it's only certain members of and those close to the Almonte family who can enjoy it.(Alejandro, Montse, Macario and Victor come to mind.)

If someone else would try to drive it, it would turn into that vehicle from Steven King's Christine.

When Alejandro finally climbs into that spacious cabin once again, admires the richly-leathered upholstery and turns the key and beings the engine to life, so then will the Padre return among the living.

Oxnerd then Padre is an Autobot of a different kind( Can transform from human to car and wise versa) ,it all makes sense now. And Pedro is Unicron:)

Oh my, UA, hope you enjoy writing these recaps even half as much as we enjoy reading them. You really are so gifted at the "film noir" approach, and I appreciate the pictures as well. Especially since Hulu Plus does not have this episode up yet. And it sounds like a pivotal one!

Thanks for all the care and hard work you put in on these recaps. They are a delight to read.

Now hear this:

My computer is running hot. I will be taking it in this afternoon and I hope i can get it back tomorrow.

Thanks Urban. Another great recap.

I watched much of this episode, and found the scene between Pedro and Nadia to be most upsetting. Poor, poor, Nadia! No matter what she says, anybody and everybody has to know she's being forced by Pedro, and that he must have kidnapped her. Once again I ask, why is it so damn hard for all these adults to get her out of there? March in there with a police or Navy squad, and there would be no way Pedro can deny them access and prevent them from them from taking Nadia and Victoria with them. Sheesh!

Also, explain to me again why Monse can't know that Ale is alive (but Mac and Dominga can)? What's worse at this point-- JL hiding that Ale was alive and in a coma in Argentina; or Ale hiding that he is alive, awake, in Agua Azul, and telling almost everyone else except Monse?

I agree with those who didn't buy Gracie's hurt mother act. The only reason she is upset is because Amelia and Ben fooled her, not because she wanted to be a mother to Fabi.

Haha Urban, pobre computador.Bet it is going to enjoy the hot summer in Aguazul in the amable compania of Pedo The Perv Medina! I hope they use all they can to save your computer, also including facepalms, headpokes, fingersnaps. Some neck massage could serve it well too,ah what a cute computer you will be getting back:)

Vivi, I think the issue of Monse being married to JL is what's making that problem. If the wedding hadn't happened there wouldn't be a problem for Alejandro.

Gracie is creating more problems, which is part of what will fill the next 56 episodes.

Hello all. All of you make this show much more entertaining and exciting than it probably truly is. Kudos to you all.

Urban, I agree with you regarding Fabiola and Maria getting switched. It would fall in line with Ale thinking of Maria as a sister and Uncle Juve's unhealthy and creepy petting of Maria (in my opinion). Also, it would be a little ironic due to Gracie's put down of Maria being a maid when Gracie herself had humble beginnings. Like Mother, like daughter.

I am still disgusted with JL but I refuse to waste anymore words on him.

I am irked at how many people now know that Victor and Ale are alive and Montse is in the dark. It stinks too because Montse now has knowledge that her mother falsely accused Ale which could help him clear his name.

Oh, well the drama continues.

Caryn

Thanks for this detailed recap, UA, so richly filled with an abundance of translation and well chosen photos. Nicely done.

This made me smile:

"He had hoped it wouldn't come to this, but he wasn't married to a idiot."

You must have been feeling very charitable when you wrote that.

María seems to have been reanimated and energized by her stint in rehab and now seems very confident and focused as well. She doesn't appear to be the least bit intimidated by Zeke nor Carlota. I especially enjoyed the little wave she gave EZ when Carlota announced that she was there followed the look on his face. Later she barely blinked when he grabbed her throat. I think that some of you are underestimating her importance in the scheme of things.

Although I kinda understand Alejandro's delay in officially announcing his presence in Agua Azual, I think that he is making a big mistake in revealing himself to some, but not Montserrat. I doubt that she will appreciate or understand his keeping her in the dark.

UA, I can't agree with this at all:

"I am fairly sure she tried to kill her infant daughter by Benjamin."

If she had, I'm sure that she would have succeeded and if she had, I'm certain that the writers would have hit us over the head with that fact. I believe that to some degree she feels sorrow for what has happened. It will be interesting to see how she deals with Fabiola now that she is aware that she is her daughter. I also think that she genuinely craves to restore an emotional tie with her other two children. She is definitely a bad mother but not entirely devoid of motherly instincts.

Carlos

UA,
ITA with what you said about Montse and JL's marriage being the reason Ale is keeping quiet. Up until last night Ale didn't know that JL had suspicious of Ale being alive. I think now that Ale know what JL knows, he will tell Montse he is alive. Especially now that Rosario told Ale that JL had Laurito keeping secrets from his mother, and that JL married Montse knowing Ale was alive. Ale will reveal himself because even though everyone is telling him how well JL has treated Montse and Laurito, JL is now in defense mode and could hurt Ale's family.

UA, simply stunning - your words, your pictures - a true masterpiece. Your conversation translations are so greatly appreciated!

I will have to read the comments later and likely won't get to comment on tomorrow's recap until very late in the day.

I am in dismay over all just about every story thread at this point but your recap had me transfixed and humbled. Thank you UA.

Diana

Urban - Excellent recap. Thanks for the bonus screenshots.

She is definitely a bad mother but not entirely devoid of motherly instincts.

Carlos, I have to agree. Graciela is hateful and I'll be shocked if she starts treating Fabiola well now, but she does want Monse and Dim to care for her. She is jealous of the motherly relationship Rosario has with them.

I was struck by the contrasts between the look on JL's face and Pedro's face as they hovered near Nadia and Monse. Pedro looked cruel (what else is new?), getting off on his control over Nadia. But JL look sad, depressed, fearful. JL needs to remember he is police chief and it's his duty to help Nadia escape. If JL makes Nadia lie about Ale as stipulation for his help, I'm done with him. If I were Graciela, I'd start calling him El Patético.

Thanks UA for the great recap. I hope Montse figures out that Nadia had to lie. How else could they explain Al not surviving the crash, but Victoria at 7 being able to recognize her tio Al?
I am a JL supporter and despite his current lapses, I feel for his long-suffering and his many losses. Pobrecito!! (Now I sound like Carlos re Maria, don't I?)
I really like Monica, but I'm hoping for a Fina/Dimi reconciliation.
Yola

So waiting even longer for Monse and JL's marriage to cement before he reveals himself to Monse, makes sense how? Will he wait for them to have their first child, till their kids graduate from high school, what exactly is Ale waiting for?

Carlos..I agree with your analysis of Gracie . She is jealous of the relationship that Rosario has forged with Mony and Dim. Rosario has become a mother figure to them and has given them the love, acceptance, and affection that Gracie has never given them. I also agree that Gracie did not try to kill her baby, but she was relieved when that baby seemed to die of natural causes.

One wonders what kind of family life Gracie had as a child because she is certainly a very damaged human being who does not seem to know how to love and respect others. There are always reasons that we are the way we are.

Perhsps ale is worried that Police Chief JL will throw him into jail if he reveals that he is alive.

He doesn't have to reveal himself to JL, but he has an obligation to reveal himself to Monse.

Vivi in DC, I am totally in agreement with you on the point you just made re Alejandro having an OBLIGATION to inform Montserrat that he is alive.

POR FAVOR! I have been wondering how in the world Alejandro could reveal himself to Macario (of all people!!), but not Montserrat.

You hit the nail on the head Vivi in DC, what in the heck is Alejandro waiting for?! Is he waiting for Graciela? Fina and her bumbling ways? Ay! Sometimes, I could scream with some of the action here.

I also am in total agreement re the ADULTOS in this story who can't put two and two together re Nadia. Little Victoria is going to blab sooner or later and I hope it is sooner. The poor child is at the breaking point as things stand now.

As far as Fabiola goes, I am STILL not sure she is Graciela's child. That would be too easy, wouldn't it?

Fatima

UA, Fatima, and others who think that Fabiola might have been switched for María (or any other child:

As I've said before I'm absolutely intrigued by that prospect and would like nothing more than for María to be Gracie's child, Alejandro's, Montserrat's, and Dimitrio's sister. But 2 questions loom... how and why? As I recall, Amelia took the infant from Gracie's arms and took her to the hospital. This removes the child from the venue of the convent making an accidental switch unlikely. It's also unlikely that María would have been born either at the convent or a hospital.

TNs are like jigsaw puzzles where all the pieces eventually fit together however implausibly. A switch would leave poor Fabiola as a piece that just doesn't fit. Introduce me to a mother for Fabiola and I'll be all in.

Carlos

Carlos, I agree with your jigsaw puzzle analogy. :))

Fabiola seems like a chip off the ole block (head). Maria seems to have been destroyed emotionally as a child. I suspect that pervie Juvie had something to do with it.

Maybe they will throw in a new mother close to the end? Stranger things have happened, right?

If that is a mint julep in your avatar photo, I could use one right now. TRAFFIC can be so disgusting, let me tell you.

Fatima

I am only asking because I don't know. I might have dreamed about this and think that I read it. A while back, did someone say that the Padre got his hand cut off?

Thanks for the recap Urban.

Cynderella, Novia de??? All we know is that when our beloved Padre A went missing, Pedro was presented with an amputated hand (in a box, no less) purported to be that of the purportedly dead Padre.

We have wondered if EZ Basura really did have the nerve to commit such an act.

Fatima

Carlos, from the sounds of it, Amelia was in the vicinity when Graciela gave birth to this questionable bebe (I'm going to hate that word by the time this TN is over).

If Amelia was right there when the child was born and Amelia has stated she visited this child frequently, then, all fingers point towards Fabiola.

IF there was a deliberate switching of said child, a) what would Amelia have gained by doing this and b) why is Amelia becoming more and more upset with each visit of Graciela (aside from the usual finger thumping and pushing, etc)?

Amelia knows much more about this story than she is telling. Why would she have even discussed this with Pedro in the first place KNOWING exactly what kind of person she is dealing with in Graciela?

Fatima

I think Ale hasn't revealed himself to Montse yet because that was not his original plan. He was expecting to visit Montse's tomb when he arrived in Aguazul. And remember that Fina was going to bring Montse to her house so that Ale could talk to her on the same day, which was also the day of the wedding. But when Fina went back to the wedding reception, Montse was MIA. And Ale did go to Montse's house that very same night, but unfortunately encountered Gracie. She told Ale that Montse had fallen in love with JL, was preggers, and that it was all his fault. The video he had left Montse had propelled her into the arms of JL, and there was nothing he could do about it. He then decided to try and clear his name during the honeymoon. And it's only the beginning if their second day back. So I would say that Ale tried to talk to Montse, but the circumstances, and the need to fill time got in the way.

Thanks. Now I don't think he swims with the fishes. You have to balls of steel to kill a priest. You have to be the president and CEO of the atheist club.

You go Aunty Ann. Defending our baby like that. He don't have to reveal himself if he doesn't wish to do so Vivi!

Cynderella, Novia de?? :)), I think we are all pretty much in agreement with your thoughts. At least, this is what we are hoping. :)

Aunty Ann, holy cow, isn't it just like Graciela to blame Alejandro for all of this mess?! The lies just slide off that forked tongue so very easily, don't they?

Graciela has a very twisted mind. After what she did to Macario last night, I really do think she is evil.

Fatima

Well, if he doesn't speak up now, then it's his damn fault if Monse DOES end up pregnant and "conflicted" about leaving the man who just knocked her up. Time will only complicate matters, not make it easier.

Thanks UA for such a detailed and enjoyable recap. I haven't read much in the film noir syle but I'm really enjoying the way you put it all together. And the pics were excellent too. Especially the first one of Graciela. I was trying to remember what seemed strange about her wardrobe when she was talking to Pedro and it wasn't until I saw your picture that I remembered. It's the lacey earrings she is sporting. Looks like she got bored one day or didn't have anyone to insult one morning and made herself some earrings from the same lace as her blouse!

I am also feeling the desperation to get Nadia out of Pedro's house. How much more abuse can she take? At least before she could see him coming, now she has to protect herself and Vicki without her sight to help her.

I am also with all of you who didn't buy into Gracie's crying last night. Poor Mac, she can really dish out the physical abuse! But I do think that Fabs is her daughter and I agree with Carlos when he says "She is definitely a bad mother but not entirely devoid of motherly instincts." I think her greed gets in the way of letting those instincts take over.

Oxnard love your interpretation of the Tundra being moved around by Padre A's spirit. Maybe in the end it will be the Tundra who takes out the bad guys? ;-)
