Nadia goes to earn some cheese while everyone else drinks wine: lo que la Vida me Robo Epi 122 05/1/2014

I over slept this morning but the recap is finally done, enjoy!

Refugio, you are an epic punk

We start tonight's show in Agua Azul, Refugio and Esmeralda are waiting  for Montse and Jose Luis to join them for diner, Esme looks better but sadly she's stuck with her dreadful husband who can't even be bothered to listen to her while she speaks, he gives her a lame excuse about being worried about work and we know that Esmeralda is not buying it, finally Montse and Jose Luis arrive and thank god they did because watching the interaction between Esme and Refugio was painful! Oh but things don't get any better, Montse tries to break the ice and says that she believes that there's a lot of truth behind people saying that pregnant women are always stunning and beautiful and that Esmeralda  looks great, Jose Luis agrees and things get mighty uncomfortable when all Refugio can say about his wife is "yeah she looks pretty." Someone call a divorce lawyer.

Monica and Dimitrio get busy...if you know what I mean:

Dimitrio shows up at Monica's home and falls to his knees the second she opens the door,  he apologizes for being late, he was kept at the base and thus ended up making them  miss the show they were going to go see. Monica says she understands, and Dimi tells her she looks great (she does) and suggests that they should go out to diner to show her off, she agrees, as long as she gets to pick the place. Once they arrive at the restaurant they have some wine and the flirting starts, he tells her that she looks beautiful and she says she's finds him fascinating, she used to think that he was not the kind of man that could ever commit to just one woman-until she learned that he had been married to Josefina. She asks if he still loves Josefina and he replies that he is over her and that the last thing he wants to do is sit around talking about an ex. This does not stop Monica, she says that she thinks he jumps from one bed to another because he's afraid of getting hurt again and that he should give himself the opportunity to fall in love again. Oh man, I feel bad for her, does she have any idea what dating Dimitrio means? Dim and Montse should have potential romantic partners sign some kind of waiver where they are informed that being involved with the Medina kids means taking on Graciela and that that could be dangerous to ones health and mental well being, not to mention their check books.

The two continue to drink and finally leave the restaurant, one thing leads to another and they end up doing the deed. All I can think of is that poor Monica has no idea the hell she's in for *not a spoiler, I think we all know how Graciela feels about women who come around her baby and the lengths she will go to in order to keep Dimitrio close*.

Argentina-

Victor arrives home to Nadia dressed and ready to go, he asks where she is going and she explains that she has the opportunity to play a concert, the money they are paying will be enough to pay the hospital for another three months, when Victor says he's going to ask for the loan at work she says they will need that money as well, everything combined should buy Alex a total of six months in the hospital, she says they need to do whatever it takes to keep him alive, he is like a brother to Victor and they won't let him die simply because they have money issues. Victor thinks this is a bad idea (it is) someone could see her and if word that she's alive gets back to Pedro their lives will be turned into a living hell. Nadia manages to convince Victor that the concert is a good idea, they need the cash and no pictures will be taken of her because all the press for the show has been done and her name wont be mentioned anywhere. Dude, if I were running away from my crazy homicidal husband I'd fake my death AND change my name AND get plastic surgery so no one would recognize me, my fake name would be Princess Juju.

Adolfo and EZ meet:

Adolfo pays EZ a visit at home which makes Ez an unhappy camper, he tells Adolfo that he does not want to dirty his house by having him there. Adolfo just wants some information on Maria, where is she? What did EZ do to her? And then he asks if EZ got rid of her once he found out she was in possession of Benjamin Almontes will-nice going Adolfo, if EZ didn't know who had the will before he sure does now. EZ tells him to stop looking for Maria, she went of the rails and there's nothing anyone can do to help her. We also learn that these two have been plotting to do Medina in for seven years, which makes me asks "really? In 7 years the two of you have been unable to figure out how to stage a little accident for him?" and then I think of all the ways a person could be murdered and I came up with a few, here they go:

  • Drive by shooting
  • Poison in their food
  • "Suicide" attempt
  • They could also pull a Cheney-you know go camping and someone gets shot in the face by "accident"
  • Put a sleeping pill in his drink, set fire to the building he is in, make sure all exits are blocked.
Clearly I gave this too much thought, I'm starting to think that EZ and Adolfo couldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight.

An old friend returns:

Nadia gives the concert and because she's blind fails to see that there's a man in the audience that's taking a picture of her with his cell phone-don't you just hate technology sometimes? She also does not see Josefina in the audience waving at her. Yes, Josefina is back! Once she is back in her dressing room Martin tells her that she was a hit, everyone is raving about her and if she would allow him to manage her she could be famous! She tells him that the last thing she wants is fame, just then we hear Fina at the door saying she's an old friend of Nadia's. Martin excuses himself and leaves Nadia with Josefina. The encounter does not start off well, mainly because Nadia seems cold towards Fina, Fina questions wether Nadia is mad at her because she left Agua Azul without telling anyone, and wonders if Pedro made the trip to Argentina with Nadia.

Nadia tells her that no, Pedro did not make the trip with her and she tells Fina that she is tired and that if she leaves her contact information Nadia will call on her the next day. Fina slowly comes to the realization that Nadia is blind and the two hug each other and cry.

Nadia arrives back at her apartment and tells Victor that the concert was a success, no one saw her and she left the venue after everyone was gone, she also tells him they have a small problem and that there's someone there that wants to say "hello", enter Josefina. Nadia and Victor explain the situation to her, Pedro is crazy, and had Montse killed, they had to flee in order to be safe and Alejandro is in a coma. They make Fina swear that she can't tell anyone about this, not even Dimitrio, she tells them that she and Dim have been over for years and we also learn that Tomas is dead (yay). She promises that she will keep quiet and that no one will know that they are alive, but we all remember that Fina has trouble keeping things to herself.

Agua Azul:

Our foursome are still having diner and are taking about the good old days (hahahaha, as if any of those days were good) it goes something like this "hey remember that time when you took over someone else's identity and I was afraid for months that my husband would find out and kill you?"- "hey remember that time you guys were on the run and I had to hide you from the cops?" "hey remember that time when you made Montse believe that JL was a rat bastard that played with women in order to take their money?". Finally by the grace of god the party ends and Montse heads home.

Rosario, you are making me have violent urges:

Montse arrives home to find Rosario waiting for her, Rosario screams "where were you?!" Montse explains that she was out to diner and Rosario immediately asks if she was with "that man", Montse tells her that yes, he was at the table, along with Refugio and Esmeralda. This makes Rosario go into bat shit crazy mode, she yells at Montse and tells her she does not want her seeing JL (excuse meeeee? Since when does this woman think she has the right to tell another grown woman what she can/can't do?)- she asks Montse what she thinks Alex would say about her spending time with JL and Montse, now reduced to tears tells her that she knows exactly what Alex would say. He would say that he is thankful to JL for all the sacrifices he made in order to make sure he and Montse were happy and that he would want for them to be happy. She explains that JL understand her pain, he too lost his life partner.

Rosario tells Montse that she can't see him anymore, he's going to want more than friendship from her and she can't date him because her son is still alive-it is her duty to wait for him! The hell? We all know he's alive but let's say he had died, Rosario actually expects a 27 year old to never date again? That's crazy talk. Montse tells her that the possibility of Alejandro being alive is worse than him being dead- if he is alive that means he left them and did not care enough to contact them. Rosario says that maybe something is keeping him from reaching out to them, Montse tells her to please stop, Alejandro is dead and she will never stop loving him, she will love him until she dies and they meet again. He was her last love and will forever live in her heart, then she gives Rosario the cell phone recording that Alex made before the accident, Rosario watches is and continues to cry.

I don't think I did that least exchange much justice, Rosario was hysterical and was screaming at Montse in an awful way- demanding explanations from her when none are were needed and going on and on about Alex being alive and Montse having to wait for him, I felt super stabby during that scene, maybe that's why no one leaves sharp objects near me?

Come back tomorrow when things progress with Montse and JL.

Ouch ,with Nadia going to the concert, things can start to go bad,she is especially weak now that she is blind.I hope she regains her eyesight soon!

Refugio is dumb as a flock, where is the wine bottle when you need it ? Fab please brighten up this piece of rock!
And if they call a divorce lawyer ,his name better not begin with Octavio or Arturo please!

Eli, thanks for recapping two days in a row. What a trooper!

I agree that it was painful to watch the double date dinner scene. Refu is acting like a total jerk. OMG! Could he be more obvious. I wish they would send him on a special assignment with the Marina. I just DO NOT want to see him for a while. It's one thing if he doesn't love Esme anymore, but at least have some respect for your wife of the last 7 years, not to mention mother of your soon to be child. He is totally absorbed with himself right now. All he can think of are his feelings. Ok, rant over, NEXT!

Captain Monica is in for a rude awakening. Fina's back! Now that Fina made an appearance, I am pretty sure she's gonna end up going back to Aguazul. And if course she will run into Dimi. Look out Monica.

The picture that that man took of Nadia will somehow end up in the Aguazul Gazette. I just know that Peddy will see it. I hope Ale wakes up soon. I miss him.

Can't wait for part 2. Thanks again Eli.

Off to sleep...hasta pronto!

Eli, another great recap, loved, "Oh man, I feel bad for her, does she have any idea what dating Dimitrio means? Dim and Montse should have potential romantic partners sign some kind of waiver where they are informed that being involved with the Medina kids means taking on Graciela and that that could be dangerous to ones health and mental well being, not to mention their check books." So so funny.
I don't know, but it seems like Dim has had the required Madre-ectomy. ?
I thought Monica's outfit was awfully revealing (her cleavage looked as perfectly molded as a Barbie I used to have. I think she would have had him with a little neckline display. She was dressed for bear!

Great stuff, Eli. You got a great episode.

Dim and Monse's last name is Mendoza, not Medina (thank God Pedro has a Darwin Award).

The sex scene was probably censored on TV, but all I could think of was that Monica is in for a rude awakening. Not just about Josefina, either: Admiral Robleto won't like this one bit and there is Gracie to deal with as well. Who knows what will happen when Josefina comes back.

OK, now Josefina has the entire family fortune and she's looking much better. Dimitrio will probably go after her again. This could have job repercussions for him that he doesn't need.

I hope Carlos weighs in soon because I think something was off about Nadia during the concert. Her physical stance looked wrong, especially for a person who wasn't born blind. The actress looks like she has never observed a concert pianist. Most of them get into the music and this is reflected in their facial expressions and posture. She looked too robotic and that is not conducive to good music.

When Josefina gets home to Aguazul she will find out that Monserrat is alive and will feel compelled to tell Victor and Nadia. If Alejandro wakes up before she leaves she might contact him.

You deserve a special award Eli for staying up so late to post this (and I know you have a demanding job) and managing to be so funny as well.

"Refugio, you are an epic punk"

Yes, that's a perfect description of our guy. At times (in the past) he's seemed like a lovable punk but no more!

Will look forward to watching this on another rainy, allergy-inducing, depressing day in central Ohio!

Right, Urban, Nadia looks very stiff, while playing, walking and sitting. Perhaps it was a result of the accident? Although I didn't notice much movement when she played before. The playing sounds better.

I lost English CC's for the first half-so I was very grateful to have the confirmation of the dialogue, Eli.

Oh, and we are never "stuck with you" Eli. We are blessed with you. Especially with everything else going on in your life. It's never easy to make time to write a recap. And then afterwards, usually your adrenaline is so high, it takes hours to get to sleep anyway. At least for me it does.

Eli, you always tickle me with your observations. Love the take on poor Monica. Your recaps are always such a joy. Can't wait for Part II.

I always have fun watching Osvaldo with his facial expressions and the way he plays Dim. I got the vibe that he was just being his usual playboy self last night and that it was Monica thinking they were possibly going into a different realm. I agree--stupid move on BOTH their parts considering she is his commanding officer. So I call it...either she uses that to make his life miserable if this relationship doesn't go where she wants, or being the intelligent, smart woman she is supposed to be, she winds up pregnant. All the while with Fina back ( sooooo happy to see her calming, sweet self. )

Studying early in life to be a concert pianist, the one constant I always had happen to me was my teacher holding me firm with her arms on my back and stomach to make me sit erect and hold my hands a certain distance from the keys. This was to focus on basics and assist in "breathing the notes". But once after year 6-7 you get into the tough stuff, you that emphasis went away since by then you have that down and yes, you then get into the music and let it take you wherever. But you always start and end you piece in that posture. Nadia looked to me like student year 5 in the way she played. Passion just not there.

It's Friday night and party night at the Patio. I though a good party idea might be "Hit the Refugio" night. Picture on the dart board, a life size Refugio doll you can punch and maybe a surprise....Refugio himself will make an appearance and we get to each slap him silly once. Small donation for that line to give to the local Home for Wayward Pole Dancers.....JL should have taken his friend out to the woodshed and beat the daylights out of him.

Daisynjay

I'm sure JL will do that. He knows that Refugio is screwing up even if Monserrat didn't tell him everything. When is Esme's due date, anyway?

In 3 months from what i heard,Urban

OMG, she must be having twins. I doubt Refugio is up to the responsibility whether it's one baby or three.

Getting back to classical music, I was at a piano concert last week and the pianist was so heavily into the music it's like he was channeling Beethoven. No actor who portrays a pianist should try it without observing someone like this. I sat in the front row so I could watch his hands and after seeing his other moves I actually began wondering whether he was possessed by Beethoven.

Princess Juju! -- Problem with getting involved with Dimi or Monse is not just Graciela -- Bebe! -- but the fact that they themselves are lacking the common sense relationship gene. Communicating clearly not their strong suit.

I gather that at some point Refugio will be made to say that Esme's pregnancy was just too much for him, something he couldn't cope with, etc etc. I have never understood what a woman like that ever saw in him. Beyond some kind of emotional security, once upon a time.

The Dimi-Fina reunion is what I'm living for! Hope she has an opportunity to crush him outright.

It'll be interesting to see how Monse deals with her best friend Nadia once it becomes clear that she kept Ale's true condition a super secret for years on end. I don't think Monse will be too understanding.

Yesterday was kind of exhausting around here so hope Princess Juju gets some good, pleasant rest. Thanks as always for what you do.

Eli, thanks for recapping two nights in a row--both excellent.

Refugio is a complete dolt. Although I love the new Dim, I can't love his evening with Capt. Monica.

So happy to see Josefina, especially with her new look. Not sorry to hear brother Tomas is gone. Looking forward to seeing her walk the streets of Aguazul sometime soon.

So Finas brother Tomas went Choo Choo straight to holy holy heavens?! What a relief!. Im liking both Monica and the new Josefa ,this will be a fierce battle! Did Refugio take meds from Dr Evil and his current doltiness is just a side effect? I think even a Barbie Doll is smarter then him at the moment!

Dear Eli,

Thanks so much for this great first half! You are amazing to do this two nights in a row, and I can't wait to read the second half since this first half is wonderful.

I thought it was interesting how in the love scene between DIM and Captain Monica, they were both BITING each other a lot. Maybe those tickets she had were to Twilight or something and they were duly inspired?

Also those shoes she was wearing must have been from Nordstrom's new Dominatrix line, though they were pretty cool. I felt like the writers were trying to make a point that the relationship between DIM and Monica was only (or maybe mostly) about sex.

Thanks again, Eli!

I was so disappointed in Monica last night. Knowing Dim's female habits I was hoping she would really make him work for it but she gave it up in one night! Also, how dangerous to hook up with a subordinate. She obviously isn't thinking clearly.

So awesome to see Josefina. She looked gorgeous and finally got some fashion advice. I was a bit surprised when asked about Dim, how she swatted away the comment as if a fly was on her shoulder. Seemed completely over him, or doing a great job of fooling herself.

Anyone else find it odd that Adolfo says he wants to get back at Pedro over Nadia but instead for seven years has been doing his dirty work? Lame

One last thing, I can't stand Rosario any longer!! She cries and cries and cries through every freaking episode. I can't take her anymore. Poor Montse having to listen to her day after day for 7 years!! But I guess she will get her "I told you so" moment when Ale finally wakes up. I wonder if he'll have amnesia?

Thanks , Eli, for your very fine recap!

AuntyAnn, I bet you are right about the guy with the camera since we know Josefina wouldn't let it slip. Anyway, what reason would she have to go back to Aguazul /have contact with any one in Aguazul when it looks like Buenos Aires was a good move for her?

Refugio was his usual idiot self. Esme needs to get rid of his sorry self. She can support herself with her business.

Rosario was so sad to watch as Montse is telling her it is time to move one. Over seven years is a long long time. I just wonder when Ale will reappear since everyone on Buenos Aires believes Montse is dead. Will Montse and JL be married? So many possibilities!!

Jarifa

That comment regarding the hospital saying that they were going to "desconectar Alejandro if they didn't get paid three months in advance reminded me of the tonterias Sarah Palin and others were saying about "death squads" deciding who was going to live or die under Obamacare.

Remind me not to have coma in Argentina!

Eli, thanks for another day of recapping. Looking forward to your second half. Loved "Refugio, you are an epic punk". Aunty Ann, I'm with you on Refugio's attitude. He certainly is in "woe is me"mode. He should be focusing all his love and attention on Esme and his baby, not mooning over Monica. Judyb I too used to think he was a lovable dolt in the past, but now I'm just too upset at his behavior.

Am not liking the hooking up of Dim and Monica either. What is she thinking as his superior officer?

Maria de Andrade, "The Dimi-Fina reunion is what I'm living for! "--me too! So glad she is back in the picture and although she is looking a lot prettier with her change, I love that her style still remains beautifully quirky like her personality.

Maricruz

Eli, you are a champ for taking on two days in a row. Such funny stuff. Thank you soooooo much.

Don't sweat part 2 -- give us bullet points or whatever comes easiest to you. With your hilarious part 1, you've already assured your place in the recappers' hall of fame!

Eli - Wonderful Part 1, Princess Juju! Thanks for doing double-duty for us. Laughed all the way.

Elna June - Hope you’re getting good news on your house hunting.

Refugio is not only cold to Esme's needs, he seems to resent her too. Why bring up her ancient misdeed of lying to Monse for Dim? JL seemed too entranced by Monse to notice what a jerk his BFF has become.

Seems Dim was all about the sex, but Monica wants more than that. She's got lovely hair, but I'm sure the caballero viewers were fixed on her other assets.

The spectator who photographed Nadia was the godfather from AV. I've seen him only in good guy roles.

Poor Monse. If it isn't a malevolent controlling mother, it's a benevolent controlling mother-in-law. Rosario, if you feel your son is still alive after seven years, how about doing a missing persons search with his photo to hospitals, prisons, etc. in the perimeter area where the plane went down. The way you are playing it, any woman would want to run to JL rather than live on lockdown with you.

Princess JuJu: take you time. You know we won’t run out of things to say waiting for it!

No one thought that someone would take a pic from the audience. And since it is the WORLD WIDE WEB, someone you don’t want to see the pic is going to eventually see the pic. Sloppy writing.

I, too, thought Nadia looked awfully stiff. There was more animation when they just showed the pianist’s hands.

I didn’t rewatch the little bit where Fina said she wasn’t interested in Demetrio, so my impression that she’s sincere may be off.

I’m hoping Ref’s attitude isn’t about being shot down, but about feeling like a fool. He did seem to start enjoying the evening.

Of course, Nadia and Vic couldn't tell Mons Ale was alive because they think she's dead, but it was cruel not to have let Rosario know. I know they did it to protect themselves. But Rosario is going to have good reason to be po'd with them.

UA: I liked what happened in ep 50, too. The anvil I’m most looking forward to is Gracie’s. Then Maria’s. Realized last night why the ep number I had didn’t coincide with Uni’s vid—forgot that MX is showing it in 30 minute eps.

Eli: You had me at "Refugio, you are an epic punk" - utterly fabulous.

"Our foursome are still having diner and are taking about the good old days (hahahaha, as if any of those days were good)" was also one of my favorites. The recap was excellent.

I feel the loss of the vibrant, loving and kind Angelica's spirit is keenly felt among those she left behind. Somehow, Monse sitting in what should have been Angelica's place bothered me more than it should have. While Monse tried to coax Refugio out of his morose stupor, Angelica would have found a way to bring him back to the land of laughter, if only for the course of that unhappy dinner.

I am appalled and disappointed at Rosario. Her behavior was terrible and her charcter bears little resemblance to the wonderful soul who embraced her son in that tearful jail reunion. What happened to her?

Fina does not seem to be carrying any torch for Dimitrio. Even more bothersome, I believe him when he says he is over Fina. It will be interesting to see exactly how involved he gets with Monica before Fina shows up.

Poor Nadia. Of the many mistakes she has made, this may prove to be the costliest.

Wonderful comments all.

Thanks again Eli!

Diana

Ay, Rosario... shades of Tia Rosaura(?) Of LQNPA!! The screeching ... my ears! My ears!

I actually turned off the scenes with Rosario last night. If this had been barely a year later, I could understand her hurt at Monse moving on or still in the deep grip of sorrow. But this 7 years later. How does she handle how she speaks of his father to the little guy?? She seems to be his primary care giver.

Add to that...that house isn't that big. Tone it down woman...there is a young child in the house. Honestly.

I saw the flippant Fina move when Dim was mentioned. I can see how maybe Fina did that. She was sincere when she said she was leaving and would not see him again. Now we know TN's don't work that way, but for the character, I think she just put that part of her life behind her so she could sincerely gain the confidence she needed, make a new life for herself and become the woman she wanted to be. I'm sure there is something in her that still remembers, I took that almost as a "oh that time, I don't want to go back there".

"Ay, Rosario... shades of Tia Rosaura(?) Of LQNPA!! The screeching ... my ears! My ears!"
--My oh my, did that bring back some memories. LOL!

Daisynjay, I agree with you on Rosario. I know everyone grieves differently, but the way she was going on, I would have thought it had been less than a year since Ale had passed. For a moment, when she said he was alive, I thought perhaps Vic and Nadia had said something to only her, but its just what she feels in her heart. Knowing Ale is alive, makes me root for him, but if this weren't a TN, it would be crazy for her to try to keep Montse from finding happiness after 7 years.

Maricruz

I cut Rosario some slack because she is the one who lost the most in this story: She lost the 30 best years of her life for a crime she didn't commit and the opportunity to be a loving mother to her son. She barely gets a year to start making that up when he's taken away from her. This is absolutely not right no matter what.

We know that he will wake up in an episode or two, but she could have benefitted from a shrink a while back. However, there will also be other problems down the road.

Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful recap!

Rosario is sorely in need of spiritual counseling. It's not realistic that we wouldn't see her long to talk to Padre Anselmo. Time for the writers to let us know his fate.

Well how would you feel when your widowed daughter begins to connect with someone new, especially when that previous love was supposed to be "everlasting" ?

daughter in law*

Even if Monse marries JL, or somebody else, that will not change her everlasting love for Ale. He'll always be in her heart.

Thanks for another scintillating recap, Eli. I especially enjoyed your recounting of the dinner conversation where they reminisced about those good old days.

Didn't Fina look dazzling? Elegant? Radiant? Sophisticated? Wow! And yet she was still the cute Fina we once knew. I loved it when she said that she always suspected that there was something going on between Nadia and Victor.

UA,

As for how Nadia looked playing the piano, I haven't watched enough blind pianists perform to comment. She certainly didn't resemble Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, or Ronnie Milsap. Like Fina, however, I was enraptured by that piece she was playing. Did anyone recognize it?

Diana,

"It will be interesting to see exactly how involved he gets with Monica before Fina shows up.

I thought that they seemed pretty involved last night... at least they were certainly getting better acquainted. By the way, I noticed that the wine they were drinking was the same brand that Fabs had brought along to share with JL the other night. As NM quoted Fabiola:

"Es sedoso, enérgico, tiene una aroma intenso y un sabor penetrante."

Now I believe her.

Carlos

Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were born blind; Nadia wasn't. I think that piece was by Brahms, but I'm not sure.

Eli thanks so much for your recap and for doing 2 days in a row. You gave me so many laughs between your description of the disgusting Refugio to the way Rosie makes you "stabby."

Yeah, Josie is back. I don't get Rosie. It's been 7 years and even if she can't move on, she can't think her DIL will do the same.

UA: finally got to see the Mons/Gracie almost slap scene from ep 85. Good for Mons! (for some reason Uni has it as ep 76).

I love the piece Nadia was playing, but can't remember what it is or who composed it.

Maria's turn to show up. And yes, Carlos will be sooo happy.

I'm not on the Fina bandwagon. Got nothing against her but she quickly bored me when talking to Victor and Nadia.

She can't hold a candle to Monica. Monica is just of those natural beauties that come along once in a great while.

No wonder Refoolio is (literally) delusional about her.

Who wore black better, Monica or Fina? Not the one with the Princess Leia hairdo, I'm afraid.

Oxnard, while I do see Monica as a beautiful woman, I think Fina has both a physical and interior beauty. She shows great love and concern for her friends. Meanwhile Monica, if she really considers Refugio to be one of her only two friends in Aguazul, should not have shown such a mean attitude toward her friend's wife and hurt her feelings the way she did.

I think she brings out the very best in Dim and that's why I would like to see them together. I think with Monica and Dim, it's just a physical attraction.

Maricruz

Can anyone tell me the episode where Victor and Nadia learned that Monse was (a) shot and (b) died 7 years ago? I think that's what they told Fina (my English cc's did not work until the end of the show). The three of them (Victor, Nadia and Ale) were waiting for Monse to show up to get on the plane. The most disturbing part of this mistaken belief is that if Ale wakes up and they tell him she's dead, he will be devastated. My 'beanie' is very tight as it is and the little propeller on the top is spinning out of control.

Anonymous 4:37, I think it was episode 115. Before the plane crashes Ale called his phone and Gracie answered from the hospital. She told Ale that Montse had been shot and was dead. That is when Ale told Vic and Nadia. They believed she was dead and no use returning to be caught by Pedro. Hope this helps.
Maricruz

Carlos and Urban,

I Shazammed the gorgeous piece Nadia was playing (wouldn't have known it otherwise):

Scherzo No. 2 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 31, Chopin.

By the way, did you guys notice that the sleeping prince moved his fingers and seemed about to open his eyes (his eyelids twitched) in the previews?

Speaking of music, it would be interesting if we could hear the soundtrack of our own lives. We omniscient Patio people know that when Monica and Dimitrio were together, the down and dirty jazz track was playing. This is a clear sign that there will be unpleasant consequences of this casual coupling (probably because for Monica, it's NOT casual.)

Also, the guy in the audience was making a video -- a video which is sure to go viral! Oy.

It occurred to me that, although I have not had much (if any) experience with blind concert pianists, most of the concert pianists that I've seen in performance have often closed their eyes during long passages, perhaps to allow the feeling that the music imparts to take over the visual centers of the brain. Maybe that's why many of us close our eyes when hearing particularly moving music.

Carlos

I've been lurking lately. I am following the action and the recaps & comments closely. Thanks to all for the wonderful chapters in this saga.

UA--Not Brahms. More likely Chopin, though I can't pull out the exact piece from my doddering memory banks.

I got a big kick out of Martin's rendition of a River Plate accent. Better than Mexican actors having to pretend they are speaking Spanish with an American accent, but still not authentic.

I have a good friend who does this when we attend concerts together. His mother was an opera singer and his sister a piano teacher. I wondered in the beginning whether he was falling asleep but it occurred to me that someone like him wouldn't.

You got it NM. Thanks. I hadn't read all the comments yet.

Eli:

Thank you so much for subbing for me. May you be richly blessed because of your kindness.

I just had my landlord and a house full of Realtors come through for a "surprise" visit—"We heard that the home is going on the market and you don't mind if we come in for JUST a minute...". This took two hours.

Right in the middle of packing. Yikes!

I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have such kind friends on Caray Caray to help out when I have trouble meeting my regular commitments with this unexpected downsizing and move. Thank you to all the recappers on our wonderful team—To Gloria for being so good hearted, to Eli who stepped up and saved my day, to Novela Maven who knows me well enough to get me a substitute when I am too overwhelmed to know that I even need help, to dear Urban Anthropologist who volunteered to help out in the future and to Mads for keeping the whole darn thing running like clockwork.

Eli the recap was just great. I think Nadia is out of her mind to give a public concert. I am seriously disliking Refugio right now.

Abrazos,

Elna June

Elna, any time! I was more than happy to help, moving sounds like a nightmare!

They way they edited the preview, it also looked like Ale was moving his fingers in preparation to awaken the moment JL and Mons kiss. Just as someone stated would happen (sorry don't remember who).

Hello everyone, found dis blog via google. Started watching Lo Que La Vida Me Robó 1st of april in Nigeria and i cant seem to get enough of it, is there any channel online u can recommend where i can watch it [english version] since u guys are ahead of us. Tanx

The actor playing Martin always gets cast as an Argentinean for some reason.

Sleamzy...if you go to univision/com la que la vida me robó and then type in a capitulo number, I believe you can get the videos for each chapter. Then if you click on the cc's, you can get English subtitles. But evidently you have to log in and be some kind of subscriber now to get the videos to run. When they first started this, that wasn't necessary. You also can read past recaps to get an idea of the storyline.

tanx judyB...tried viewing it at univision but got a response saying "this video is not authorized in your location", maybe i'll just make do with d recap on dis blog. thanx for responding

How disappointing Sleamzy, but yes, you do have the recaps and they're very well done. Glad you have joined us and are enjoying the telnovela.

Eli,

Thank you for your hard work and dedication for the cause - against all odds. I really appreciate it.

Niecie in MD,

I still have especially fond memories of the great comments you made during our time with LVO, and there were several similar ideas we shared re Cristina Corona de Arriaga in AV.

I love your contrasting descriptions of Graciela & Rosario:

"malevolent, controlling mother - and benevolent controlling mother-in-law"

Also like the "live on lockdown" part.

What Fina said about Dimitrio was that it has been several years since she divorced him, and it is not a part of her plans to go back with him.

But, while she said it, to me she appeared uncertain and perplexed
as to what she would actually do.

What is bothering me right now is that we know nothing about what she has been doing for the past 6 or 7 years other than change her makeup, hair, and wardrobe. Supposedly, she was lost and went off to find herself and perhaps do something significant by way of a career or even run a charity of sorts with all her wealth. Exactly of what does her metamorphosis consist?

I do like the way her warm, analytical personality still comes through.

Re Dimitrio, I believe that he has not gotten over Fina; he doesn't like to talk about it, but
that's the way it is. After much soul searching, he realized that she was the Real Deal, and another pretty face and voluptuous body will not change that. Of course,
the captain may prove to have some depth to her that he likes, but Fina is still the One and Only.

He obviously did not want to be with her when she woke up. He wasn't ready for that. He also told her in the note that he had a
"compromiso." That was an excuse.
He happened to babysit for Montse while she went to the beach -
Big Deal - that was not an important engagement; that was just a spur of the moment thing which he was happy to latch onto as a cover if needed.

He was comfortable with his nephew and glad to be out of the hot seat, so to speak. It also shows of course that he will be a Family Man one day -- with Fina.

Enjoying all the comments.

You are all far more observant than I.
