This discussion post if for Wednesday's episode. I know it is very late, but better late than never ; )

Thanks, Madelaine!
One thing I was wanting to mention is about those short spots they are putting in before the commercial breaks. They must be teasing us or trying to balance out the horror of having a cruel murder right in the middle of our romantic comedy! I can't believe that we will every see everyone - including,a tan and healthy Alejo, a happy couple of Leonardo and Diego, a tan and happy AS, and of course our beautiful Lupe and MA - all in the same beautiful tourist setting together. That must be the cast party at the end of the novela's run, don't you think?

Yay! I don't know what happened...I hope just general busy-ness or forgetfulness and nothing bad.

So, anyway...BEAUTIFUL park Leo and Diego chose for their lengthy angst-fest. Such a fraught conversation they were having...it was about 90% subtext, just the thinnest veneer of plausible deniability of their real topic of conversation. I thought it was nicely acted. And then they both sat there to "reflect" on "art" or whatever...until it was dark out.

And earlier, Leo was definitely not pleased when Perla threw herself all over Diego. We know Leo has no problem with being mean, so the fact that he's being nice to Diego probably says a lot about his regard for him and how sensitive he is about Diego's bravery in even...kind of...sort of...approaching his real feelings.

Perla Ivette continues to have no purpose other than to be a killjoy. I'm glad Chuy told her to get with it and find something useful to do.

I fear MA's days as a free man are numbered. Probably in the single digits. I like how tenacious Jennifer Gomez is, but I wish she would focus more of that energy on taking Ahole down. He is so obviously shady and trying too hard to pin everything on MA! Disappointed that Vilma is back to her pathetic crush on Ahole, too. It would be nice if he would fall for her seduction! She'd find out really fast how stupid it was to pine after him all this time!

Julia, I totally agree about the Leo Diego meeting. I loved the setting (wonder where it was?), and I loved the awkward and understated communication between the two. Maybe my favorite part from last night - although there were more favorites . . .

Julia, great comments about Leo and Diego. And I thought the same thing about the park, how beautiful it was. Leo definitely isn't dismissing Diego anymore. 90% subtext for sure. He clearly puts himself out to spend time with Diego, even if it's under the subtext of teaching him art. Leo is clearly torn about himself and his life situation. He realized that by marrying Maca he will help his family leave the porca miseria, but he will also be married to someone he probably doesn't have feeling for, especially sexual feelings. I'm glad that after Perla left, they talked about the fact that Diego feels nothing but friendship towards her.

I was hoping that Vilma saw Alejo kill Adolfo, but when she hugged Alejo's picture I knew she didn't.

Thanks, Madelaine.

I liked:

Lupita encouraging MA not to give up on trying to prove his innocence and MA supporting Lupita in the Emiliano-Alejo situation..

Doña Mati's conversation with Emiliano encouraging him to stay the good boy they all love.

AS trying to give another etiquette lesson to the disinterested Menchacas and asking if their memory is made of Teflon.

Leonardo and Diego's conversation in the park. Leonardo tells Diego to "come out of the closet" and confront his dad. Diego jumps on the statement and asks Leonardo if he has come out of a closet recently. Leonardo tells him not to make any insinuations because he is talking about Diego coming out of the closet and telling his dad he wants to study art and not be a soccer player.

Lupita finding Emiliano's cellphone and confronting him about it.

I didn't like:

Alejo badmouthing Lupita to Emiliano on the phone.

Emiliano being a real brat with Lupita about his sneakers and asking her why she put him in a school where he would be different and not have the things the other kids had because she could not afford them.

Don Chuy having no success trying to get Perla to DO something with her life instead of just waiting for her dream to come true. Perla hanging all over Diego even when he says he is not interested. How old is she anyway? Perla interested in a weight loss product.

I felt sorry for:

Vilma caressing the clothes Adolfo left behind and then going back to reinstalling Alejo's pictures at her home.

Jarifa

Jarifa - you are always so good about the dialog. What were Frida and JT saying to each other last night?

I liked that Lupita believed MA when she found out that he knew Emiliano had been seeing Ahole behind her back and he told her he only didn't tell her about it before because he thought Emil should come clean himself. I'm glad that didn't turn into a petty reason for them to split or fight.

Didn't like Perla claiming that her etiquette classes with AS amounted to making something of herself. Maybe if your dream career is to be a servant to people like AS, sweetcakes. Didn't like her thinking about the weight loss stuff, either. She doesn't need to lose weight. If she wants to be a model, she DOES need to get a good portfolio together and aggressively pursue modeling jobs, rather than whatever is her current non-strategy for breaking into modeling.

Oh, Frida and Tizoc were cute. He asked why she had been avoiding him since, well, you know (bed bonding). She claimed she was just really busy because she's getting ready to go back to school the next day. Uh huh, sure. Then he teased her that she was really going to miss the Menchacas when her family was rich again and she left, and she teased back that the Menchacas LOVED her and they were going to miss her more.

Ann C.

Tizoc asks Frida why she has been acting all weird since they had their moment of passion. She says she is just preoccupied because she is going back to school tomorrow. Tizoc says that she will be with all of her fine friends and that she will forget about the Menchacas. She says she won't because she knows they like her a lot. Tizoc says they do really like her but she loves them. Frida ends up saying she knows that they are crazy about her. Then they start kissing.

Jarifa

Thank you Julia and Jarifa! Those are the important little bits I couldn't get without you!

I second Ann C's thanks. I watched the episode this afternoon and had some comprehension issues.

Thanks for the post, Madeline.

Julia - I loved your description of the Leo/Diego scenes.

I'm so glad someone finally listened to Diego and actually cared about his feelings. And yes, Leo has always been nice to Diego whereas he is mean to everyone else. Leo purposely misunderstood the 'getting out of the closet' comment.

Davinci went missing? I guess that's why Leo was looking around the floor as Perla was attempting to set up the table before him.

I am curious, about Vilma turning the statue of St. Francis upside down. Any significance to that? I know about burying a statue of St. Joseph. I wondered if there was a meaning to what Vilma did?

Similar to burying it upside down. She put it upside down next to Ahole's picture as a love spell.

Thank you Julia, I had not heard of that before
