De Que Te Queiro, Te Quiero #145, July 30, 2014

De que falso matrimonio, de que el matrimonio no va a suceder

Mushroom Man (MM or Paul) wears an outfit that rivals his hair, its horrendous, and makes arrangements for Brat to get his name.  He tells her how he plans to make El look bad.

Mr. and Mrs. T move into his new place.  The little home wrecking wannabe (HWW = little Al) is there along with Diego as well.

Brat resigns and gets Rod upset when she accuses him of being a murderer.

Diego and Nat act like infants and if they continue to act foolish, I’m using Sara’s recappers privilege card (RPC).

The fryer at the fonda is broken so Carmen leaves to get a new one.

Hilda completely spills the beans on why she and Mr. T. have moved out when Nat demands to know what’s up.  Diego tells her about Rod’s latest murder attempts and Nat says Rod must pay for his evil.  She almost lets him kiss her again when he finds out she is concerned for him because of his demon sibling.

MM goes to the fonda and meets Luz and she spills the beans about Brat’s pregnancy.  Oh well to bad she’s quitting her job.  Brat wants severance pay but the HR guy reminds her that her pay as an intern does not have severance.  She believes she’ll be able to leech off her dad but....he’s falling apart about Brat’s pregnancy.  He feels he has been deceived and leaves the fonda.

Carmen returns to the fonda and asks Toni if was MM there.  He tells her how Paul and Luz were chatting and she confesses her mistake.  Of course Carmen thinks it means nothing.

Rosa with Grumps listening tells Rod she must return and help Grumps.  He relents and permits her to work for his abuelo

Tad and Irene look like they are looking at a new place.  He says he will put his last (ohhhhh) painting here.  Irene thinks she’s correcting him by saying his latest but the look on his face lets us know the writers should be fired.

MM is back at his hotel throwing a fit because Brat didn’t tell him about the pregnancy.  He won’t accept a single mother and neither will his mother.

Morales sees Rod is transferring large amounts of money.

Diego thinks about Nat while at the office with Simona.  Nat is wasting time thinking about Diego as well.  Irene calls and invites her to dinner.  Poor Andres gets invited to dinner.

Morales learns Rod has been transferring money to fake doctor but he doesn’t know why.

Demon Rod comes home and demands serve him dinner.  Lala has to tell him they left.  I’m still mad the supposed good guys left Lala alone with that psycho.  He threatens her and I want her to leave as well.

Morales goes to Rosa to try to find out who the fake doc is.  But I’m again concerned that the good guys think two older people can fend off a madman.  For heavens sakes, our Lupita would know better maneuvers than these dolts.

HWW (this would Al) goes to El to complain about Irene.  Pulling the RPC now as no amount of  whining and crying can justify his kissing Irene.

The Demon (named Rod) retires to his room and believes that Mr. and Mrs. T. have left leaving him free and clear.  Lala calls Diego on the house phone possibly allowing the Demon to overhear the call and harm her.

Andres tells Tad he and Nat brought a painting.  He wants to fill his house with paintings but Irene, who is so skating on thin ice with me currently, has other ideas.  Tad invites them to come to Paris and poor Nat has both Irene and Andres staring at her.

Brat tells Carmen MM will give her is name.  Carmen isn’t happy but she should relax because based on that tantrum MM had a few scenes back Brat won’t be getting that name.  Carmen is upset, Brat says Garcia is a common last name and if she has to choose between the two she’s taking mushroom every time.  It’s so fun watching her dig her own deep pit over this.  Carmen leaves in a huff with Brat smirking.

Nat says they should go although Irene tries to stop her.  For some reason Diego arrives (as if it was planned).  He leaves upon hearing about Nat’s marriage.  Irene gives death glares that she will regret to Tad.

Carmen rants to Luz about Brat.  They move from talking about MM to El’s erratic behavior.  More indiscriminate use of bipolar happens.

Diego laments losing Nat. An elated Andres tells Carmen he and Nat have set a wedding date.  He’s ecstatic while Nat is numb.  Poor Andres, run man run.  Lupita, Paolo, and Brat join in celebrating the wedding date.  Of course Brat takes the opportunity to make this about her and announces her new name.  When Paolo mocks it, she says she doesn’t care what her family thinks.  Laying nice ground work for Anon207 prediction that Brat will be alone.  At least she didn’t push Lupita.  The rest of the kids (minus honeymooning Abdul) discuss how they would never change their names to their dad’s name.  But correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t the protocol in most Spanish speaking countries is that the child has both maternal and paternal last names?

Diego stops by Simona’s for a booty call.  Ok it might not be for sex but he’s broken up about Nat, crying in his car, and now shows up at Simona’s....you make the call.  He wants to “talk” and offers to take her to dinner.  She’s in her pj’s and suggests they get some leftovers in her frig.

Nat and Brat have a conversation we could all write at the point.  Brat asks why would Nat marry the fisherman in spite of his money.  She doesn’t understand why Nat doesn’t marry into Diego’s family which is jaw dropping considering how badly Rod treats Brat.  Nat asks Brat why she is breaking their mother’s heart with the name change.  We better get the Brat gets nada (no name, no money) pay off soon.

Brat continues with her obnoxiousness and calls Nat trash Carmen picked up.  Nat slaps her hard and Brat tries to come back with you better back that up.  Nat gets in her face and Brat has to say she won’t lower herself to fight.  What a joke!

Grumps returns to the home where he might die and Rod pretends to be nice.  Rod tampers with Grumps meds.  Really, his finger prints are all over the bottle.

Brat leaves to meet MM.  Carmen gets upset after she leaves and Nat tries to cheer her up.

Morales finds the fake doc and is following him.

Grumps thinks to himself about how Rod deceived him.  Lala brings him the meds that will kill him if he takes them and tells him about Mr. and Mrs. T leaving.  Grumps is upset they didn’t say a word or leave a note.  Here’s one for you viejo, Hey Grumps, your psychotic nieto tried to kill us so we decided to go.  Hope you survive his care as he killed his good friend.  Best wishes and hope you keep breathing.  Mr. and Mrs. T.

Rod demands that Rosa not allow Grumps to work.

Brat is still waiting for her Dad.  She tries to call him but gets his voice mail.  She finally gets him and he tells he’s not coming because she’s pregnant.  Carmen and Nat hugs and console her.

Previews – Rod continues his plans to kill Grumps and Nat freaks out when she sees Diego going into a hotel with Simona.

I'm sorry ... Andres may be a nice guy and all, but he is such a doofus-looking dolt that I can't stand to even watch when he's on screen. He is definitely an underwhelming second choice.

Natalia finally showed some fire, getting "all up" in Brigitte's face. LOL

Excellent, Karen! I loved your letter from Mr. and Mrs. T. :)

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but stung even more that Mushroom dumped Brat right before giving her his name and French citizenship. I hope she doesn't go after Luz when she finds out. I'm sure she'll glam Nat anyway.

What HR guy said is that because she is quitting, she gets no severance, and that the "compensation" she was demanding was satisfied by the very good salary she was earning. Hope she saved up, but I'm sure she didn't.

Andres suggested that they set the wedding date for a month from now, so that he and Nat can go to France as husband and wife. That's why Irene, Diego, and even Nat looked like they had indigestion.

Oooh, how mad will the Brat be when she learns Nat's dad is taking HER to France. Ha!

Blame not glam.

"His face tells us the writers should be fired."

Loved it! Also, feel free to use the RPC anytime! Unfortunately I think we're going to have a lot of opportunities to use it.

OK. Brat is a big ol' b!tch but MM's rejection still doesn't seem right to me. He's a piece of crap too, in my opinion. His hair is hilarious though. My husband came in while I was watching and just about died laughing.

Karen, the recap was fantastic amiga. I just love your tone which adds so much to the enjoyment.

"The little home wrecking wannabe (HWW = little Al)" was simply great! "She almost lets him kiss her again when he finds out she is concerned for him because of his demon sibling" and "For heavens sakes, our Lupita would know better maneuvers than these dolts" were a few of my other favorites.

I am also aghast at Mr. and Mrs. T. being left alone to fend for themselves. I'm just as afraid for Lala though. Too bad Diego can't clone himself as he seems to be the only saving grace for these beloved folks safety.

Paul is an idiot. While I readily admit Brig is no prize, she is his daughter. To reject her now because she is pregnant is revolting. If his mother's acceptance is so important, what would he have done had he and Carmen gotten together? Would he have kept her a secret?

Vivi, yes, Nat going to Paris will be another blow for Brig. When she was sobbing at the end, I felt nothing.

On the other hand, I feel for Andres - he really deserves better.

And of course, "He says he will put his last (ohhhhh) painting here" was beyond sad.

Thank you Karen! Greatly appreciated.

Diana

Thank you so much, Karen! As goofy as this TN can be, I will still miss it. I like the actors and will especially miss our Little Lupita. :(

Diana, I am in total agreement that Mushroom Head is an idiot. Fish Lips Brat deserves everything that is coming to her, but I think this Paul is being a jerk to his daughter. What in the world makes him think HE is such a big prize? I take it this man is still a mama's boy. What in the world did Carmen see in this man?

Fatima

Fatima, I am also at a loss to fathom what Carmen could possibly have seen in Paul. There is nothing endearing about him at all as far as I can see.

Also, he is neither suave nor sophisticated. Sigh...

Diana

He was French. Maybe that was enough?

I think for Carmen all it took was flattery

love it Karen and thanks. "The little home wrecking wannabe (HWW = little Al)" "Irene, who is so skating on thin ice with me currently"

Thankfully Tad lives another day.

Irene - just get outta my sight

Tad - your heartbreak won't last forever

Paul - annnnd, she let me buy all those skin tight dresses

Andres - square peg, round hole

Simona - well, look what the dog drug in

Diego - and she cooks too, damn boy

Nat - there's a Disney World in Paris, right

Morlas - money got it's own particular scent and this hound got a nose for it

Hildabeast - any loud noises grab him and hide under the bed

Lala - walking on eggshells

Brigitte - uh, don't think I'd be burnin any bridges quite yet

Carmen has said all along that Mushroom was a piece of crap & that she didn't want Brigitte to know him.

Mushroom doesn't want any parts of Carmen or Brigitte because he doesn't want any parts of Carmen or Brigitte. Has nothing to do with single moms or being Mexican or not being good enough or his mom. He just doesn't want the responsibility and he is too cowardly to own that.

I feel sorry for Brigitte in theory b/c no child should be rejected by their parent. But Brigitte only wants Mushroom as a dad for what he can do for her. She is ready to shed the Garcia last name & her Mexican citizenship because she feels they are too "common." As long as Mushroom buys her tiny dresses with huge price tags she's fine with him. If he was like Tiburcio, a country caretaker, she would not care to get to know him at all.

I think some sort of Mexican identity parable is being played out with the Brigitte story and I only see two outcomes

1) Even with Brigitte rejecting her Mexican last name and identity, she can't get away from it (still liking the modest Mexican food over the fancy French food):

Even with Brigitte rejecting the Garcias, the Garcias will never reject her and will be there for her and her baby.

or

2) Brigitte publically disowns the Garcias/Mexican identity. Later, when all is lost to her, she runs back to them but they reject HER.

You must give our culture respect or we will shun you.

You all know I'm in favor of Option #2 because I think people who blatantly dis their family for no reason need to be taught a lesson, if only for a little while. That's why I enjoyed Teresa's family and friends shunning her as she shunned them.

Brigitte will learn, or maybe she won't, that you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Thanks, Karen, for enduring this show to bring us a recap of a lot of crap. Did I say that out loud?

I loved the note you suggested Mr. and Mrs. T write. Perfecto.

I need this show to stop. Even Maricio cannot save this one for me. I surf in and out. it is just sooo frustrating and just keeps swirling around and around . Stop.

You know, I don't believe Brigitte thinks far enough ahead to consider consequences. I do think she is cleaver on her feet and reacts quickly to changes and a set back doesn't keep her wailing and sleepless for days like it does Nat. Brigitte plays the hand she gets but is guilty of celebrating before the moneys in the bank. She knows Carmen will never turn her out for a little disrespect, look what Abdul did and she welcomed him with open arms.

Thanks for your kind words everyone. And thanks Vivi for clarifying the HR situation and Nat's nuptials.

Anon @ 3:22 am - I did enjoy Nat not backing down from Brat.

Vivi - Brat will be more than vexed if Nat goes to France. I say if b/c Tad might not last the month, sniff, sniff.

Sara - MM was horrible to reject Brat though she only wanted to use him. But she had been warned that he was a jerk.

Diana - Andres deserves better as do the poor people who still have to engage with Rod (Lala, Rosa and even Grumps). Most of the good guys are so inept all 3 could be toast.

Fatima - the actors/actresses on this tn are fun. I just saw Big Al on Amorcito Corazon w/ the actor who plays Morales.

tofie - ITA that Paul flattered and lied to Carmen and that is why she fell for him. When he had to face the reality of Carmen being pregnant, he showed his true colors as he did with Brat. Another great list.

Anon207 - ITA that Brat needs to learn to respect her family and not use people. And at this moment, she still hasn't learned either.

Susanlynn - happy you stopped by even though we are in the circling the drain phase of the tn. Hopefully some anvils (aside from Brat) will fall soon.

I think that Carmen will never reject any of her children no matter what they do. One thing you have to say about Carmen is that she has unconditional love for all her children...even nasty Brat. She will never turn her back on Brat and her bebe no matter how vain, vapid, and unappreciative Brat is.

The difference between Abdul & Brigitte is Abdul never had any contempt for Carmen & his siblings.

Brigitte has contempt for everyone in her family (including family friends) except for maybe Lupita.

Carmen's never going to turn her back on Brigitte & the baby. But if Brigitte says F U to Carmen and takes off for France, the US or even the other side of Mexico City, I don't see Carmen chasing Brigitte down to bring her back.

I do think if Brigitte is openly contemptuous of Carmen and trashes her for being Mexican, common, a baby mama etc. the sibling trio of Abdul, Paolo and Natalia will rebuke & shun her.

I easily see her leaving town but leaving the baby behind for Carmen (and Eleazar) to raise.

I think Brigitte more simple in her contempt. Carmen was poor with no social standing and growing up the neighborhood reminded her she was a bastard.

Actually, Fish Lips HAS shown her contempt for Lupita also, a few times. She always sneers at the things Lupita says; that time she pushed her out of her way; and once when Lupita asked an innocent question Brig nastily said to her, "Don't be stupid!" She's horrible to her little sister.

Gracias, Karen! There were a lot of moments I loved in this recap... "Irene thinks she’s correcting him by saying his latest but the look on his face lets us know the writers should be fired." "Brat says Garcia is a common last name and if she has to choose between the two she’s taking mushroom every time. It’s so fun watching her dig her own deep pit over this." "Poor Andres, run man run." But, my favorite was the the note from Mr. and Mrs. T.

I was enjoying watching Brigitte make her big plans while Paul was making his plans to hightail it back to France. I loved when she told the HR guy "You'll all be sorry when I'm a Champignon" and he said "You're going to be a mushroom?" Sorry, Brat...no mushroom for you!

I forgot about all the times Brat has put down Lupita. Well in that case, she REALLY needs to go down.

I think the Garcias have let Brat go on putting down various members of the family with "Oh that's just how Brigitte is."

That needs to stop.

Anon207..yes, I guess that most families have at least one member whom everyone else just sort of puts up with because he or she is family. Hmm
Has everyone thought about this for a minute and had a name pop up ?

Uh oh...I didn't. That probably means it's me!

There definitely isn't anyone in my family as bad as Brigitte. That kind of attitude wouldn't have been tolerated.

Not in my immediate family, but a cousin. Horrible person but some (definitely not all) of the family puts up with her because her parents are real sweethearts. No clue how she turned out this way, her parents aren't pushovers.

Thanks Karen loved your recap as well as your "circling the drain phrase of the novela". That's a perfect description. Except for the fact that I'm addicted, this is the phase where missing an episode or two wouldn't be obvious. I haven't given up on my picks and choosers even though they act like sitting duck idiots for the bad guys. For example, why on earth would Nat (whom I like) comfort or feel any sympathy for Brat after the way Brat has treated her. Instead of that making Nat look like a nice forgiving person, it makes her look like a fool and encourages more of the same behavior. I've always heard that people treat you the way you (unconsciously) ask to be treated.
