De Que Te Queiro, Te Quiero #146, July 31, 2014
MM gets ready to return to France after ditching Brat because of her pregnancy. He actually says there is nothing to tie him to Mexico so he can leave now. Wow, that’s icky.
Grumps continues to question why Hilda and Mr. T left and slowly comes to the conclusion it must be Rod’s fault. Rosa arrives and hopefully these two will escape now. Unfortunately, their future looks bleak because Rosa is about to give Grumps the Demon (Rod) tampered meds.
Carmen tries to comfort Brat by telling her MM dumped her b/c of Brat. Brat finds out Luz told MM about the pregnancy and she goes into Diana mode about hating her child. I wonder if she’ll fall down some stairs or who will be the parents for the child as its obvious she doesn’t want to the child and would be a terrible parent. Carmen thinks what MM did is unforgivable (true), Nat still seems numb (perhaps from her setting a wedding date yesterday), and Brat cries and whines about how nothing works for her. I don’t even have the energy to snark at such foolishness.
Rosa tells Grumps about Morales but the bad meds are already taking their toll on him. Rosa asks Lala to prepare food for Grumps and worries about him. Sadly, she doesn’t add up that he started losing his memory immediate after she gave him those drugs. When Lala brings the food, he doesn’t want it and continues to act strange.
MM gets in his car to leave and Carmen stops him. She berates him as he deserves. He tries to give lame excuses about not being able to handle being a grandfather (its too overwhelming). The more he talks, the more he reveals new levels of jerkdom.
When Rosa calls Grump’s real doc, he says the memory loss is normal because of the meds. I find it so amusing that the writers are putting Grumps in peril as if that negates all his evil crazy at the start of this tn. Nonetheless, its horrible to see him being terrorized by his demon nieto.
Nat’s playing hooky from work to make sure Brat doesn’t do anything foolish (and the downside to that is?). She tells Andres why she isn’t there and Brat starts spouting her crazy self-centered mess about how Nat telling Andres is meant to hurt her.
Luz stops by El’s office as he balls out Morales’s replacement. She see him get angry and once again she fears about him being bipolar.
Carmen tells Nat and Brat about her meeting with MM. Brat wants to beg him to really be her dad. Wish this plot point was over and I didn’t have to deal with Brat anymore. She cries now but by the next scene she’ll be saying obscene to Nat or her mother, possibly both.
MM goes to the French Ambassador’s office. The Ambassador tells him a university in Mexico wants him to lecture for a semester in their neuroscience department. So this plot won’t be ending soon, boo!
Brat rants about how she needs her father (and his money) to Carmen. We get another dose of the tn nature vs nurture debate [Carmen says she brought up her children all the same so what’s up with Brat, Nat says maybe its genes.]. It seems when its convenient many tns go the bad seed route and now that Carmen has said Brat is cold and cunning like her dad, I think this tn is going that way too.
Luz and El talk about his temper at lunch. She suggests he see a doc as he acts out again. Luz stops by Carmen’s and I get concerned Brat will attack her.
Irene goes to see Grumps. Rosa states her concerns (this time Grumps is sleeping too much) but that gets blown off too.
Oh my goodness, Luz actually goes to apologize to Brat and we all know this will not end well. Brat doesn’t open the door (that’s good for Luz) but screams her typical bile at Luz.
Nat goes to talk Padre Juancho and admits she doesn’t love Andres.
Carmen and Luz want El to see home wrecking wannabe (HWW = little Al) about his temper.
Nat and PJ talk about love. He says to marry the couple needs to have passion, all that other stuff, caring for him, affection, respect, and fondness, won’t make one happy. While I get what he is telling her and Andres deserves so much better, it’s not cool that the conclusion Nat is supposed to come to is passion with an immature man with serious anger issues. Just like in Robo, I want a third galan option unless both Nat and Diego can have therapy for a year or two before they marry.
The demon named Rod comes home. He thinks Grumps looks dead, Grumps wakes up disoriented. Rod gives him more of the bad drugs.
Carmen calls HWW about El. Thankfully he does shoot down the bipolar diagnosis the non-medical people keep giving El. HWW thinks its stress and will talk to El. El thinks HWW has come to whine about Irene, barf, but the visit is about El.
Diego and Simona go to the movies setting us up for the preview of Nat having a melt down over seeing them together.
HWW tells El how MM realized El has an inferiority complex and played him. El disputes this but based on HWW’s looks and the music we are supposed to realize El is wrong. Later, they talk more about El not falling for MM’s mind games.
Hanky warning! Tad unveils his latest piece, a frame within a frame with Nat and Irene on either side of the large frame and then the two of them in a picture behind. I get weepy and Irene is touched. Tad says he wanted to paint the two women he loves most in the world, more tears from me and Irene.
Finally, Irene questions why he keeps saying this is his last exhibition. Before he can answer, Tad stumbles and eventually faints with a nose bleed. Writers understand that even if you kill off Tad, HWW is not a suitable substitute, he’ll try to jump on Irene at the funeral.
Simona had to stop off at a hotel and get paperwork from a client and Diego took her there before the movies. Nat seems them going into the hotel and once Simona is gone, Nat comes in loaded for bear. I can’t even really feign interest but when Diego says Nat rejected him in the worst way possible I write him off possibly forever. They continue to have a loud, immature conversation in a hotel lobby where neither of them are staying and security never comes around.
Grumps wakes up and gets water. He then starts having flash backs of his past and can’t figure out why he’s in his own house. He starts walking around and runs into Rod. He thinks Rod is still in a coma. Grumps is terrified and Rod is loving it.
Thankfully (but really sadly) Nat get a call about Tad so her idiotic conversation w/Diego is over. Nat calls Carmen and heads to the hospital. Paolo and Lupita (yeah) return home as Carmen learns about Tad. Brat actually gloats over Nat having a short time with her father; she really does need to be shunned for a period of time as most people who spout bile do. Brat sees MM on TV and realizes he stayed in Mexico. She goes to see him despite Carmen’s warnings.
Previews – It looks like Tad’s last days are near. Rod looks like he’s succeeding w/his plan to take out Grumps but Diego may be getting a clue about what’s going on (better late than never).

"The more he talks, the more he reveals new levels of jerkdom." Like father, like daughter.
"They continue to have a loud, immature conversation in a hotel lobby where neither of them are staying and security never comes around." Seriously! You'd think someone would have told them to lower their voices, at least.
Por favor...it's probably too late, but ...Save Tad!
I'm feeling kind of bad for Grumps.
I think when Nat told him he needed to quit messing around with Simona because he's still in love with her, that's when Diego reminded her she's marrying Andres, so what does she care. Pobre de Andres! He wasn't happy that she kept the flashmob from him...now she's also keeping an episode of illicit smoochies and a jealous scene from him. Dude, you can do so much better!
Thanks, Sara. Yes I didn't bother to cover Nat's foolishness/selfishness though it was just as nonsensical as Diego's claim of humiliation. And I understand your feeling bad for Grumps though I'm more in Kat's camp of feeling bad and not. As she said, once Grumps realized how evil Rod was, he needed to taken away any power he had (and his past actions - treating others so badly - has brought him to this point).
I continue to be so down in the dumps about Tad. It looks like Irene might be getting a small clue that this is the man for her.
Why do the writers have to do this?! Why?!
Fatima
Hola, just butting in. I hate the fact that it seems La Brat Brigitte might be redeemed or could get away with her past misdeeds and collusions. If I am not mistaken, she had expressed her desire that her sister be done away by Rodrigo. I think that merits a heavy karma and not just be exiled to the city of my dreams, "Paris". I would forgive Karina for helping Natalia foil the abortion act by this bad Brigitte, and also she would be giving Alonso a blood child which is not possible for Irene.
thanks
That being done. today's show merits a butting in again. This time, I agree with SAra that Nat is being selfish and stupid. And as for Rodrigo, Ya Basta!!!!
I am in the split emotions camp on Grumps. I kind of enjoyed the parts when Rod was in the room with him being menacing but had some sympathy with his drugged fearfulness.
We now have only one noble male character left and they have crashed him to the floor so I guess the juvenile Alonso can make a perfect mess of chasing Ireni while his baby-mom looks on. Should be a sensitive warm environment for the poor babe.
And now we have Nat-the-Brat who is outdoing her twisted sister in the nasty category. Pobre de Andres, indeed!! Nat gives ninguin pepino for his advancing heart ache. Not nice, not nice.
I had to laugh at La Diva who gave me fuel for an image of wasted writers sipping shot glasses of our tears of disappointment. They seem drugged by what they have gulped down so far.
Mil gracias Karen, your fortitude is appreciated.
Two immature narcissist vying for the same space should never be together.
Brigitte - it ain't over till it's over
Alonso - your prayers are being answered
Diego - you seem normal with Simona
Nat - "And you keep me alive with your sweet flowing love
Crazy, crazy on you,
Let me go crazy, crazy on you "
Tad - not for us to question why, only for you to hurry up and die
Irene - sometimes don't know what we got till it's gone
Vicente - got a little too cocky little man
Hot Rod - more than one way to skin a grandpa
Carmen - takes a village to raise a little El
Paul - staying one step ahead of crazy has served me well so far
Andres - now, how to dispose of you
So the Brat might actually still have a chance to bond with her papi if he stays to teach for a semester. I wish he would just get on that plane. Meanwhile, poor Tad is leaving us. Boo! I offer up a few more tears to the sadistic writers.
I laughed out loud at so many lines, I can’t repeat them all but “The more he talks, the more he reveals new levels of jerkdom and “Nat’s playing hooky from work to make sure Brat doesn’t do anything foolish (and the downside to that is?) wwere wonderful.
"We get another dose of the tn nature vs nurture debate [Carmen says she brought up her children all the same so what’s up with Brat, Nat says maybe its genes]" was simply outstanding.
I freely admit I cried at Tad’s painting. I thought it was very realistic and mirrored Irene’s spirit and spunk. I guess begging the writers to stop the madness would be futile at this point. The end’s been penned and done. I must stop hoping that some miracle will occur as Tad’s death appears more imminent every moment. Perhaps a miracle reprieve is in the wings?
“Writers understand that even if you kill off Tad, HWW is not a suitable substitute, he’ll try to jump on Irene at the funeral” was spot on Karen and I totally concur. And Cheryl, your “We now have only one noble male character left and they have crashed him to the floor” was so very true.
Fatima, you wrote “looks like Irene might be getting a small clue that this is the man for her”. Could you please expand on this?? I am anxious to know what you saw and/or heard. It would be a lifeline…
Kat, I am a little conflicted about Grumps as well. While his behavior has been heinous, seeing him drugged, dazed and confused is sad. Not even he deserves this. So I’m with you Sara in feeling sorry. I wish I was more comfortable in believing he was being honest in his wish to make up with Irene and Nat, but I wasn’t quite there. He does have an evil streak which Rod obviously inherited.
I have no comment on Nat and Diego. Simply not interested - too worried about Tad...
Karen, you’ve made my day. Gracias.
Diana
I read faces very well. Sometimes, I read them too well. It becomes hard for me when I hear the words coming out of a person's mouth, but then I read and fully understand their faces. It's both good and bad.
So, I saw and recognized a flash in Irene's face.
tofie, I love, love your lists!!!
On another note, this new TN with the guy who was in Dinero (totally did not interest me), does not look too interesting to me. Will probably just stick with Corazon after Robo and this TN end.
I really felt last night that we could have used a huge dose of Cunchetina and Paolo (is that his name?)
Fatima
It will be a MOST unsatisfying ending to this TN if Irene ends up with that fool Alonso.
Fatima
Again, it was my empathic self seeing that scene, so you could read it differently, as it was but a mere flash.
Fatima
Please pardon my interruption.
Holy Cow! That is fantastic that you get TV Chile!! May I ask, is that DISH Latino? I do not have cable, but have considered it at times to get more "stuff".
Fatima
Thank you! You've given me renewed hope. Like Vivi, I would dearly love to see a romantic spark (at the least) before Tad passes, if that is the plan.
tofie "If Irene does realize the type of relationship she has with a real man (not one with a padded shoulder jacket) is not a death sentence it will be after Tad is gone". Well said!
Sara, thank you for the info on Hasta el Fin del Mundo. I was not at all intrigued (I do not particularly care for the male lead). Good to know it's an interesting story.
Diana
Diana I have a little crush on the male lead, but I'm not sure about him here. Mainly cause I have a bigger crush on the Chilean lead.
I'm on my phone so please excuse any mistakes
Anon@2:31am - thanks for coming out of lurkdom and commenting. And ITA regarding Brat having some type of consequences for being so nasty and mean. I'm wondering how her story will end.
Fatima - I think you are right and Irene did have a flash of love for Tad. I completely understand your empathetic nature and hence really dislike when tns take bad turns and good people suffer.
Cheryl - thanks for stopping by. It is sad that Nat is acting very much like Brat in her stringing Andres along. She knows she does and has NEVER felt anything romantic with him. While she isn't blatant like Brat, allowing Andres to live in this fantasy is very cruel.
tofie - another great list and I really enjoyed your comments about Irene. I too get very vexed when she tries to equate her relationship w/Tad to Nat & Andres. As Sara pointed out, Tad was the love of Irene's life and Nat is the result of that love. Nat has NEVER loved Andres romantically.
Vivi - if you are juggling a lot of tns, you can skip or FF through most of this as it was pretty bleak. When Paolo and Lupita do show up, Brat's basically celebrating Tad's death.
Diana - you are always so kind! ITA that the reveal of Tad's painting was very poignant. He's such a great guy and to think the little creep hovering around the hospital to "support" Irene is beyond revolting.
Thanks for the news on the new tns. I really need to cut down on tn watching so I'm trying to be selective about this next crop.
I guess I'm not very observant, but I just now noticed that MM's hair makes his head look like a mushroom cap.
Nanette
Honeymoon if time permitted, yes. Would Irene go? I'm not so sure, particularly if Alonso cornered her in an alley somewhere and humped her leg.
That's the difference between "love" and "romance". He's done a great job of showing love, but their whole relationship since he got into the DF has always been about anyone but "them." It's been about Irene's needs (safety, security, respect) and Tad's needs (taking care of Irene now the way he didn't in the past, having someone handle his affairs) but not their needs together, as a couple. He doesn't have to do all the big overt stuff like Diego was doing...flowers and fireworks and bizarro flashmobs...but have they even had a dinner together, just the two of them, and NOT talked business? He showed Natalia his letters from Paris that got sent back...did he ever show them to Irene?
Nanette - the Brat stuff is just groan worthy for a character that is just worthless.
tofie and Kat, an interesting conversation. While I see Kat's point, that Tad & Irene's focus has never been about their relationship, most of it has focused on Irene. Yes, Tad was sick and Irene took care of him. Sadly I don't think either worked on the romance. Tad didn't show Irene he kept his returned letters though he did continue to tell her he loved her romantically but would settle for what she would give him. And Irene allowed herself to be emotionally/sexually attached to Aloser.
I love the mental image of the writers' workshop that this conjures up.
"Quick! The finale is coming! Pair them up people! I don't care what the characters *should* do! We've got a schedule! Vestuario! Where are those dresses?!"
OK, deal-breakers committed by people who might/will likely receive a happy ending:
-Grumps allowed Rod to run roughshod over everyone, including allowing to get away with nearly killing his other grandson. He planned to steal Irene's baby, verbally/emotionally abused her, and conspired to hide her long-lost daughter from her. He has lied about his wife's will for years in order to keep the company and his family under his thumb.
-Diego called Nat a slut, believed the worst of her, that she would sleep with his brother behind his back, and had sex with a very unresponsive (virginal) Nat to prove her slutiness or virginity.
-Al slept with Karina when he and Irene were still involved and he was mad at her. Since their breakup and her marriage to someone else, he continually disregards her marital status and disrespects her husband by pursuing and accosting her. He also made a baby with the woman who was partially responsible for his breakup with Irene (Karina), and did it the old fashion was!
-Brat...there is almost too much to recount. Mistreats and despises everyone in her family who all love her. Slept with the man she thought was her sister's husband. Conspired with Rod to hurt and humiliate her sister and others. Cheated on and used Alberto.
